- 0:21Two, one, we're live.
- 0:24Hey guys, it's John.
- 0:25I'm at Montgomery State University and yeah, it
- 0:28is a little bit cold today.
- 0:29In fact, I'm sitting here in all this
- 0:31snow and you can see the snow here.
- 0:34I literally had to step into it just
- 0:36to find a table to be able to
- 0:38do this.
- 0:39It's great to be with you.
- 0:41A little bit cold out here, not as
- 0:43cold as it normally is, so I am
- 0:45grateful for that.
- 0:46If this is your first time joining me,
- 0:47I do want to say thank you and
- 0:49welcome aboard.
- 0:50Really grateful to have you here with me.
- 0:52We're in our fifth year.
- 0:54We've been on the air now four years
- 0:55in a row and this is our fifth
- 0:57year and our 28th day.
- 1:00Yes, January 28, 2026.
- 1:04If you've been here before, well, welcome back.
- 1:07If it's your first time here, I definitely
- 1:09want to say welcome to you right now.
- 1:11Don't forget to check out believemeachieve.com for
- 1:14more of my amazing, of course, inspiring creations.
- 1:16Without any further ado, let's go ahead and
- 1:18kick this show off.
- 1:20All right, everyone.
- 1:21Oh, and if you're thirsty, feel free to
- 1:23go grab yourself something, whether that's a snack,
- 1:25whether that's water, juice.
- 1:26We are on a university campus, so I'm
- 1:29not really sure we might get people walking
- 1:30around us.
- 1:31Just deal with that.
- 1:33Today, it's all about answering the call from
- 1:37just working to doing something that actually matters.
- 1:40This is show five and it is episode
- 1:44number five.
- 1:45Hello, everyone, and welcome back to Inspirations for
- 1:48Your Life, the daily motivational show where growth
- 1:52is intentional and purpose is always powerful and
- 1:56success is aligned, ladies and gentlemen.
- 1:59I am your host, John C.
- 2:01Morley, serial entrepreneur, engineer, marketing specialist, video producer,
- 2:06podcast host, coach, yes, and a passionate lifelong
- 2:10learner and a graduate student.
- 2:12Great to be here.
- 2:13Sorry, we are going to have some interruptions.
- 2:14I apologize about that, but we are on
- 2:16a campus and not too much I can
- 2:18do about that.
- 2:19I tried to pick an area that's off
- 2:21the beaten path.
- 2:22Today's episode is all about answering the call,
- 2:26no, not your phone, that inner pull towards
- 2:28something that actually moves us, that matters to
- 2:32us, that aligns with our core values.
- 2:34Many people, ladies and gentlemen, aren't lazy, that's
- 2:37the truth, or unmotivated.
- 2:40They're just simply uncalled.
- 2:42When you haven't heard your why in a
- 2:45while, even success feels, well, frankly, exhausting.
- 2:49There's a difference, ladies and gentlemen, between a
- 2:51job and a calling, and you usually feel
- 2:54it on Monday morning.
- 2:56A calling doesn't always pay you first.
- 3:00It shapes you first.
- 3:01That's important.
- 3:02That idea you keep returning to, that's not
- 3:06random, guys.
- 3:07That's recruitment.
- 3:09Your frustration may be information.
- 3:12Your side project may be your assignment, and
- 3:16that's okay.
- 3:17Comfort and calling rarely live in the same
- 3:20house.
- 3:21Growth often arrives when it's inconvenient.
- 3:25I know, guys.
- 3:26I said to you that where it's uncomfortable,
- 3:29that's where the growth happens.
- 3:31That's where success starts to birth.
- 3:33People may not understand your pivot, and that's
- 3:35okay.
- 3:36That doesn't mean you're wrong.
- 3:39It means you heard something they didn't.
- 3:43Sometimes answering the call doesn't mean quitting everything.
- 3:49It means staying, but differently.
- 3:53Nothing you've done was wasted.
- 3:56Even the detours actually trained you.
- 4:00They may be, well, a season where your
- 4:03new life has started, but the old one
- 4:06hasn't ended yet, and that's okay.
- 4:08Stay steady, everyone.
- 4:10Ask yourself, are you chasing impact or attention?
- 4:17Calling costs excuses.
- 4:21Right now, someone needs what you keep talking
- 4:25yourself out of doing.
- 4:27That's the truth.
- 4:28You're not behind, guys.
- 4:31You're being recruited.
- 4:33This is something that we need to realize,
- 4:37and I think a lot of out there,
- 4:40they just get stuck.
- 4:44Right now, I've actually got my feet kind
- 4:46of about maybe a half foot in the
- 4:49snow because I'm sitting at this bench, and
- 4:51I'm right here by some pretty cool snow,
- 4:54and it's kind of hard snow.
- 4:55You can kind of see it here.
- 4:56Just kind of take a snowball and just,
- 4:58whoa, can throw it, and the snow is
- 5:00very cold here, actually.
- 5:02It's really, really cold, but just sitting out
- 5:04here is not too bad.
- 5:06It is a pretty nice day.
- 5:09There is quite a bit of snow out
- 5:10here.
- 5:10I know some of you watching this may
- 5:12be in 90 or 100 degree weather.
- 5:14You're like, what are you talking about?
- 5:15Is it cold?
- 5:16Well, I'm filming this, and it's winter.
- 5:18Yeah, it's the middle of winter.
- 5:19It's January 28, 2026, and it's cold, and
- 5:23we're supposed to get into the snowstorm again,
- 5:24too.
- 5:25I don't usually like to talk about the
- 5:26weather, but this has been a really interesting
- 5:28year with weather.
- 5:30Anyway, when we think about answering the call,
- 5:32I'm not talking about answering your telephone.
- 5:35I'm talking about answering your call, answering your
- 5:39passion in life.
- 5:40That's what it's about, folks, when you can
- 5:43answer that passion in life.
- 5:45When the phone is ringing, you obviously answer
- 5:48it.
- 5:49When you get a call, it doesn't sound
- 5:52like a phone ringing, not even a horn.
- 5:56It's sometimes subtle in your gut.
- 6:00You get this, or in your brain, you
- 6:02get this inclining or thought that you should
- 6:06do something.
- 6:07Then you decide to pursue that.
- 6:10When you pursue that, you're first like, oh
- 6:12my gosh, this didn't really work out so
- 6:13well.
- 6:14Why did I ever do this?
- 6:15Well, I think you did it because you
- 6:17wanted to see if you could do it.
- 6:19The call of life is something a lot
- 6:21of people just miss.
- 6:22They're too busy.
- 6:23They're on their phone.
- 6:24They're on the radio.
- 6:26They're just not in tune with the world.
- 6:29They're in tune with themselves.
- 6:30I think that's a problem for a lot
- 6:32of people that are trying to build a
- 6:34better version of themselves.
- 6:36They're so wrapped up in who they are
- 6:37that they don't take time to think about
- 6:40what's going on in the world, the fact
- 6:42of whether it's snowing, whether it's raining, whether
- 6:45the sun's out or not.
- 6:47When I say to you, answer the call,
- 6:49again, I'm not talking about your cell phone.
- 6:51I'm talking about your call in life, your
- 6:54call to respond to your mission, your call
- 7:00to respond to your passion.
- 7:02I'll say this to you guys right now.
- 7:03It's important.
- 7:05When you do what you like for a
- 7:08living, you'll never work a day in your
- 7:10life.
- 7:12That's the key, but so many people I
- 7:14talk to don't like what they do.
- 7:16They show up at a job and they
- 7:18keep doing this.
- 7:19Oh my gosh, how many more minutes is
- 7:21it?
- 7:22How many more minutes is it?
- 7:23When is this over?
- 7:23When is this over?
- 7:24When is this over?
- 7:25You get my point, right?
- 7:27That would never happen if somebody actually chose
- 7:31something that they believed in.
- 7:34This is why I love being a serial
- 7:35entrepreneur, because you do what you want to
- 7:41do, even though you can answer the clients
- 7:42and stuff like that, but you're your own
- 7:44boss pretty much.
- 7:46I think a lot of people out there
- 7:48get scared with the concept of being their
- 7:50own boss.
- 7:51Maybe they don't think they have the discipline.
- 7:55Maybe they don't think they have all the
- 7:57skills, but nobody ever did when they got
- 8:00started.
- 8:00When I became a serial entrepreneur or even
- 8:03an entrepreneur, it was daunting.
- 8:07There were a lot of lonely nights when
- 8:09people were doing their things and I had
- 8:12to basically sacrifice time, effort, and other things.
- 8:19I don't think that was a bad thing,
- 8:20but sometimes people don't want to put up
- 8:23that sacrifice.
- 8:24I've talked about long-term gratification and I've
- 8:27talked about short-term gratification.
- 8:29Those that go for the short-term gratification,
- 8:32the cookies, the chocolate cake, eating all that
- 8:35stuff and then being 500 pounds, and those
- 8:37that take short-term gratification understand that we
- 8:40can have a little bit and actually the
- 8:43long-term gratification is that, yeah, we're healthier,
- 8:47that we feel actually better.
- 8:49I think those are very, very important things
- 8:52to think about.
- 8:53I know a lot of you out there
- 8:55today are saying to me, John, answering the
- 8:57call.
- 8:57How do I answer a call?
- 9:00Well, I think the best way to answer
- 9:03a call is to listen to your intuition,
- 9:05to listen to your mind.
- 9:07When you get an idea, well, check it
- 9:09out.
- 9:10Maybe your call is to be a writer.
- 9:14I started writing a book, as you know.
- 9:16Maybe your call is to be a teacher,
- 9:19a professor.
- 9:20Maybe your call is to volunteer.
- 9:24Maybe your call is to work in a
- 9:26certain industry.
- 9:27If you have those skills, try to get
- 9:29in that industry.
- 9:30If you don't, then maybe that's a good
- 9:32time to go back to school, college, et
- 9:35cetera.
- 9:36When you do this, you're going to find
- 9:39that it's going to be hard.
- 9:40You're going to think that I can't do
- 9:43this because nothing is working the way I
- 9:45expect it to.
- 9:45I'm not going to tell you it's going
- 9:47to be easy because it's going to be
- 9:48darn hard, but that sacrifice that you put
- 9:52through and everything you do day in, day
- 9:54out.
- 9:54Look at me here.
- 9:55I'm in the snow.
- 9:56I'm shooting the show here in the snow
- 9:58because I like to shoot outdoors.
- 10:01The cold isn't stopping me.
- 10:03Technology and laptops and cameras can drop pretty
- 10:06low, so very grateful for all that.
- 10:09When we think about answering a call, think
- 10:13about your heart.
- 10:15Think about what it means to you.
- 10:16Think about how that affects your daily life.
- 10:20A wise person once told me, actually through
- 10:23video, Neville Goddard, we need to live the
- 10:26feeling of the wish fulfilled.
- 10:29We need to imagine the life that we
- 10:32want before it has shown up on the
- 10:35outer world.
- 10:36We have to envision it.
- 10:37We have to think it.
- 10:38We have to see it.
- 10:39We have to feel it, smell it, hear
- 10:41it.
- 10:42When that reality becomes so real to us
- 10:46that we can't believe it anymore, that's when
- 10:50it starts to manifest in our life.
- 10:53Answering a call might be something as simple
- 10:56as, I like to act.
- 10:59Maybe there's this theatrical group that you want
- 11:02to get involved with to do some acting,
- 11:05or maybe you want to take up a
- 11:07sport.
- 11:08A call doesn't necessarily have to mean a
- 11:12profession, like a job.
- 11:14A call doesn't necessarily mean that you have
- 11:18to do something all the time.
- 11:20A call just means that you need to
- 11:23check something out and you need to explore
- 11:27it.
- 11:27Your call might be to, I don't know,
- 11:30learn how to bake.
- 11:32Your call might be something like to learn
- 11:37how to be a mechanic.
- 11:38I'm just throwing these out to you.
- 11:39They may not be things that are going
- 11:41to be your profession, but it might be
- 11:43a calling.
- 11:45That calling might actually connect you with people
- 11:48that are meant to be in your life.
- 11:50I know that sounds crazy, but it is
- 11:53the truth, ladies and gentlemen.
- 11:54If you're wondering where I am, I'm actually
- 11:56outside of the beautiful Montclair State University.
- 11:59I'm actually right here on one of the
- 12:02patios.
- 12:02It's actually right outside of the student center.
- 12:06Normally, this area is pretty easy to access.
- 12:09They did shovel the walkway here, but all
- 12:13the tables, and I picked tables that actually
- 12:16are flat and they're round.
- 12:19All the round tables still have snow on
- 12:21them, but all these, let's say, square tables,
- 12:24they have no snow and they're actually dry.
- 12:27The seats are pretty dry.
- 12:29Unfortunately, getting to these tables, I literally had
- 12:31to go through at least a foot and
- 12:33a half of snow or more because that's
- 12:36how I had to get here.
- 12:37The snow is deep.
- 12:39Then I put my feet above the snow
- 12:41so they could rest.
- 12:42If you keep your feet in the snow
- 12:43so long, they get cold.
- 12:46When they get cold, it's not fun.
- 12:48Now, if you notice, I don't have my
- 12:48gloves on today, but there were days out
- 12:50here that my hands would be blue if
- 12:54they were out this long.
- 12:55You saw me.
- 12:56I had my gloves on, took my gloves
- 12:58off.
- 12:59Answering a call, let's talk more about that.
- 13:03When we think about answering a call of
- 13:05life, your call maybe to be a parent,
- 13:08your call maybe to get married, your call
- 13:11maybe to enter the religious life, your call
- 13:14maybe, like I said, so many different things.
- 13:16It's different for different people.
- 13:18When we start to realize that the call
- 13:22we get is just for us, sometimes that
- 13:27phone, and I'm saying the proverbial phone, it
- 13:30doesn't ring again.
- 13:32It's like opportunity knocks once, but it doesn't
- 13:35knock again.
- 13:36It's not because it can't, just because it
- 13:39doesn't.
- 13:40Opportunity often says if it knocks once, it's
- 13:43usually not going to knock again, because you
- 13:46were meant to answer that door, to answer
- 13:49that call.
- 13:52Let's talk about this again.
- 13:55A couple things in my life when I
- 13:57answer the call on.
- 13:58One thing, answering the call to be a
- 14:00scout, and answering the call to become an
- 14:03Eagle Scout, answering the call just recently to
- 14:06become an author, answering the call to do
- 14:08professional voiceovers, answering the call to be a
- 14:11podcast host and coach, answering the call to
- 14:15go back to school and be a graduate
- 14:17student and fulfill my master's and PhD.
- 14:21These are all different types of calls.
- 14:24Another call in my life that I answered
- 14:27was the call to be a responder and
- 14:31get my FCCC license, right?
- 14:36Another call was becoming a business owner, and
- 14:39then becoming an entrepreneur, and then becoming a
- 14:42serial entrepreneur.
- 14:44Another call of mine was deciding to get
- 14:49certified in Reiki, and now I'm a Reiki
- 14:51level two master.
- 14:53Another call of mine when I think about
- 14:55it is thinking about how I can give,
- 14:58but in a very quiet and way that
- 15:04no one even knows I'm doing it.
- 15:07I think that's what matters most.
- 15:09Another call that I know that I've been
- 15:13put toward is in my own church, being
- 15:18grateful to be a lector.
- 15:21I love lecturing in our church.
- 15:23Another call recently being called to be a
- 15:26Eucharistic minister, very grateful for that as well.
- 15:29Those were calls.
- 15:33I got this nudge.
- 15:34I heard about it.
- 15:35Something in my heart said, you know what,
- 15:37John?
- 15:37You should do that.
- 15:38That's a calling.
- 15:41Not hard things, but these are things that
- 15:44matter.
- 15:44These are things that make a difference in
- 15:46life.
- 15:47I think a lot of people, they get
- 15:49stuck in their own shell, and then they
- 15:52decide they don't want to do anything.
- 15:55Then they complain that they're not any further
- 16:00than they were.
- 16:02I have to say why.
- 16:03You know what it is?
- 16:04It's because they didn't answer the call.
- 16:08Maybe the calling was for you to get
- 16:12in shape, but you didn't.
- 16:14Maybe your call was to become more peaceful.
- 16:20Maybe your call was to be a better
- 16:22listener.
- 16:23It doesn't have to be anything formal or
- 16:26anything with a big title.
- 16:27A call just means something that you have
- 16:31been chosen to do or be a part
- 16:36of.
- 16:37I think going back to the telephone for
- 16:39a moment, when the phone answers, I remember
- 16:42the very first days.
- 16:45God rest my grandfather's soul on my dad's
- 16:47side when he was alive.
- 16:49The phone would ring.
- 16:51This was before the days of caller ID,
- 16:53incoming call line ID.
- 16:54Then they had not just the ID, then
- 16:56they had the incoming caller line ID with
- 16:58name and number.
- 17:00I remember those days.
- 17:01I remember before we had caller ID and
- 17:03name and number caller ID, I remember the
- 17:06phone would ring.
- 17:07Right?
- 17:08We would run like you know what to
- 17:10answer the phone.
- 17:13Finally, my grandfather comes over and he's like,
- 17:17what are you doing?
- 17:18I'm running for the phone.
- 17:19He's like, let the phone ring once or
- 17:21twice.
- 17:22They'll wait.
- 17:23If they don't, then they'll call back.
- 17:26I was like, well, grandpa, the phone rings.
- 17:27If I don't get it, well, then I
- 17:29guess they'll have to call back if they
- 17:31want you.
- 17:31You don't need to answer it on the
- 17:33first ring.
- 17:35Then when caller ID came out from Bell
- 17:38Labs a long time ago, I actually did
- 17:40my senior project on that in college.
- 17:44I remember caller ID being out.
- 17:48I remember that you could not answer the
- 17:51phone until the first ring fully went through
- 17:55and because if you didn't, you wouldn't get
- 17:59the caller ID.
- 18:01The caller ID actually got sent between the
- 18:03first and second ring, not instantly between the
- 18:07first and second ring.
- 18:09Why?
- 18:10Because it made contact with the phone.
- 18:13Once the phone was contact, they just pass
- 18:15the data right off that ring.
- 18:18I think when we start to understand these
- 18:22things, it can make our lives better.
- 18:25From that moment on, I stopped diving for
- 18:28the phone.
- 18:29I remember one night in the phone's room,
- 18:32my dad asked me to get the phone.
- 18:33I said, grandpa said, we don't have to
- 18:35dive on the first ring.
- 18:37Give it a few minutes.
- 18:38My dad was still so apprehensive.
- 18:40He has to get on the first ring.
- 18:42I stopped rushing for the phone.
- 18:44If I don't get in the first ring,
- 18:46I'll get on the second.
- 18:47I'll get on third.
- 18:49I won't wait to the fourth, but I
- 18:50won't rush to get the phone.
- 18:53I think that's a difference.
- 18:55Answering the call means that we're doing it
- 19:00with pure intention.
- 19:04We're doing it because we want to do
- 19:06it, not because we have to do it.
- 19:08Maybe somebody asked us, but answering the call
- 19:11comes from our own free will, comes from
- 19:14our desire in life.
- 19:17What other calls can you answer?
- 19:18Maybe you're going to be a football quarterback.
- 19:22Maybe you want to play football.
- 19:23Maybe you want to play baseball or any
- 19:25other sport.
- 19:27Even people that were maybe, let's say, known
- 19:31athletes, they answered the call in high school
- 19:35or some even in grammar school to become
- 19:38somebody that's going to be dedicating their lives
- 19:41to train for the National Olympics.
- 19:44That's a call, a call to be in
- 19:47the Olympics.
- 19:48It's also a big sacrifice, but it is
- 19:50a call, a call for us to do
- 19:53something.
- 19:54I think a lot of times in life,
- 19:57we're sitting here waiting.
- 20:00Calls are coming in, but it's like we
- 20:03have ourselves on do not disturb.
- 20:06We can't seem to, I don't know, connect
- 20:10with any of these calls.
- 20:12Right now, I'm hearing a chime bell.
- 20:15I'm not sure if you can hear that.
- 20:17It's chiming because we're just hitting four o
- 20:19'clock.
- 20:19But calls are lots of things.
- 20:23When we think about calls, there was calls
- 20:24for the church.
- 20:25That's why bells originally were ringing with churches
- 20:28so that when the bells went off, it
- 20:30was your calling to start going to mass.
- 20:34Our church still does this right before mass.
- 20:37They will play the bells.
- 20:39That's like your final warning.
- 20:40The church is going to start soon.
- 20:42It's like your last minute call.
- 20:43What they did in the small towns is
- 20:45they played these bells.
- 20:47Then you could actually, wow, I better get
- 20:49to church.
- 20:50It was usually done 10 minutes before.
- 20:52Now, they do it a few minutes before,
- 20:53but it's usually to make sure you're in
- 20:54the parking lot that you're in.
- 20:56You're already there by that time.
- 20:58What other kind of calls do we have?
- 21:00We have calls like 911, the call for
- 21:05emergency help, the call that when we dial
- 21:10911, somebody is going to actually come out
- 21:12and help us.
- 21:14We have another kind of call.
- 21:16We have a call that would happen, maybe
- 21:19somebody has a call, they call it ship
- 21:22to shore on a boat.
- 21:23But 911 is a very popular call that
- 21:26a lot of people don't realize.
- 21:28When you dial 911 today, there's a lot
- 21:30that happens behind the scenes.
- 21:32Your call gets routed usually to a center.
- 21:34It's not even usually in your town.
- 21:36Then they'll route that call to the EMS.
- 21:41When we think about calls, you don't think
- 21:44about the way they used to be done.
- 21:46Many years ago, it didn't happen like that.
- 21:48There was no 911.
- 21:50You call the police department, they set off
- 21:52bells or sirens in the town, and that's
- 21:54how the call worked.
- 21:56The volunteers came, but that's not how it
- 21:58works today.
- 21:59Another popular kind of call, we've got duck
- 22:02calls.
- 22:03There are lots of calls.
- 22:06A lot of these calls are human in
- 22:08nature.
- 22:10We've got calls that we hear all the
- 22:13time.
- 22:15Sometimes it could be as simple as a
- 22:19call for help.
- 22:21Think about Code Adam.
- 22:23I won't get into that well, but it
- 22:25was all about this kid and the parents
- 22:29basically that put this program together so that
- 22:31whenever a child gets lost in a department
- 22:34store or whatnot, they immediately follow the Code
- 22:38Adam procedure.
- 22:39Then they lock all the doors down.
- 22:43They do a whole scanning of the area.
- 22:46Then you know what happens?
- 22:48They hopefully find the person, but they lock
- 22:50the doors immediately so that no one can
- 22:52get in or get out until they have
- 22:54found that person.
- 22:56Once they've gone through the entire place and
- 22:58they have not found that person, then they
- 23:01might have skipped out.
- 23:03Usually, if the person does Code Adam correctly,
- 23:08they have locked those doors before anybody has
- 23:12a chance to run or get out.
- 23:14That's a very unique kind of call.
- 23:16What other kind of calls do we have
- 23:18in the world?
- 23:20Oh, there are lots of calls.
- 23:22We have bird calls.
- 23:26We talked about the emergency calls before.
- 23:30All animals have different types of calls.
- 23:36Sometimes there's the whistle call.
- 23:38People whistle like, hey, get your attention.
- 23:41There's the calls from TV.
- 23:43We have the call signal and signs where
- 23:48they say their broadcasting names and where they're
- 23:53serving.
- 23:53This is channel x, y, dot, dot, dot,
- 23:55dot, serving, dot, dot, dot, dot, of such
- 23:57and such area.
- 23:59That's a call.
- 24:01We have a call in our speech.
- 24:03We have a call to order.
- 24:04When there's a meeting, we have a call.
- 24:08We answer those calls, but we don't think
- 24:11about them as calls.
- 24:13When we have an opportunity and a call
- 24:18comes to us, do we answer, or do
- 24:22we let the phone ring, or do we
- 24:24put ourselves on do not disturb?
- 24:27The reason we don't answer calls is maybe
- 24:30we're scared and afraid.
- 24:33Maybe we know it's going to be different,
- 24:35and we don't know if we have what
- 24:37it's going to take to handle that situation.
- 24:41That's very, very viable.
- 24:45Calls come to us from medical.
- 24:47They come to us from animals.
- 24:49They come to us from 911.
- 24:52They come to us in meetings.
- 24:55There's calls in courtrooms.
- 24:58What about a call for a motion or
- 25:01when the judge says, please rise?
- 25:06There's a call.
- 25:08And I think these calls, there's also a
- 25:10call when we always salute the flag.
- 25:12I pledge allegiance to the flag of the
- 25:14United States.
- 25:15You know that one, right?
- 25:16Or if you're an Eagle Scout like myself
- 25:18or a Boy Scout in your uniform, then
- 25:21you actually, you will do the salute, right?
- 25:24You have the one like this, and you
- 25:25have the salute like this.
- 25:28So, I think these are interesting things.
- 25:31I think as you're probably listening or watching
- 25:33this, you might say, John, I don't know
- 25:36if I've been called.
- 25:37Well, maybe the best thing to do is
- 25:39to just be silent and to figure out
- 25:41what is going on.
- 25:44Silence those chattering monkeys in your head, because
- 25:48when those monkeys make that noise, you're not
- 25:52going to be able to tell whether this
- 25:54is a call or whether this is noise.
- 25:55There's so much noise in our world, and
- 25:58because of that noise, we miss the call,
- 26:01right?
- 26:02Suppose the phone was ringing and there was
- 26:03a lot of loud music playing.
- 26:05Would you hear the phone?
- 26:06Probably not.
- 26:07That's why a lot of times, I know
- 26:09like when I was at college as a
- 26:11freshman, I had this light.
- 26:13It's pretty cool.
- 26:14The light, I would turn the light on
- 26:16when I go to bed.
- 26:17It was basically a strobe.
- 26:19And so, when the phone would ring early
- 26:21in the morning, it wouldn't ring.
- 26:22It would strobe, so it wouldn't wake up
- 26:25my roommate.
- 26:28And he slept like a light, so the
- 26:31sound would wake him up, but the strobe
- 26:33wouldn't.
- 26:34So, I thought that was a very interesting
- 26:35thing.
- 26:35That was a call.
- 26:37That was a certain type of call.
- 26:39We have calls with the police department, right?
- 26:43How about even with CBs, you know, breaker,
- 26:46breaker, breaker, 1-9.
- 26:47I have a call when I use my
- 26:49FCC radio ID.
- 26:52We have a call when we pick up
- 26:54our CB radio and we say, you know,
- 26:57this is Red Baron.
- 26:59Give me your 1036.
- 27:00What time is it?
- 27:01Or give me your 1020.
- 27:03What's your location?
- 27:03These are different kinds of calls, and we
- 27:06are trained to respond to those calls.
- 27:09I hope this gave you some insight about
- 27:12calls and how they arrive and how when
- 27:15they arrive, you need to answer them.
- 27:17But sometimes we need to be very quiet
- 27:19because if we don't, we'll miss that there
- 27:22was even a call, and that call may
- 27:25never come again.
- 27:26Ladies and gentlemen, this has been, yes, the
- 27:30Inspirations for Your Life show, and I am
- 27:32John C.
- 27:33Morley, and I am reminding you that your
- 27:35calling doesn't need permission, applause, or perfect timing.
- 27:41It just needs a yes.
- 27:43So, when you get that opportunity, when you
- 27:46get that sense, say yes.
- 27:49You can listen now or rewatch this by
