- 0:12[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, to lower its own draft show.
- 0:13[SPEAKER_01]: Let me sign a currency and it always, my special guest, Karl Crab, some A to Z sport, how are you, Karl, back from the combine?
- 0:19[SPEAKER_02]: And back from the combine, it is always a brutal one to stretch because I do my fully simulated off-season content with free agency and the draft and a 53 projection and the cash, but so that right on the heels of the combine every year creates this,
- 0:38[SPEAKER_02]: whirlwind of like transitioning from one extreme to the other, but it does give you kind of a nice opportunity to kind of detach from everything with the combine and then look back at it probably with a little bit better perspective instead of being like prisoner of the moment of all these things just happened and this year in particular right there is the fastest group of the
- 1:05[SPEAKER_02]: We're doing less and less tests, so everybody's RIS scores are better than they've ever been, and I think the distance and a quick transition for me does give me some helpful context.
- 1:16[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 1:17[SPEAKER_02]: This year's group.
- 1:19[SPEAKER_01]: Car was at the combine last week as he said, so we figured we'd wait out and come back with a kind of corny copier of information from Indianapolis.
- 1:27[SPEAKER_01]: How was it overall?
- 1:28[SPEAKER_01]: How was Indy?
- 1:28[SPEAKER_01]: How was the general vibe?
- 1:30[SPEAKER_01]: What was it?
- 1:31[SPEAKER_01]: What did you pick up?
- 1:31[SPEAKER_01]: What were your takeaways in terms of just
- 1:34[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it was a it was a good group this year.
- 1:37[SPEAKER_02]: There were a lot of really I came away with a lot of the player interviews impressed by a lot of players and that's always nice to kind of hear their process and their frame of mind and obviously we're seeing some of the fruit of the business side of it that.
- 1:51[SPEAKER_02]: was conducted with, we, we get a blockbuster trade already with the Rams and the the Chiefs and they're running it back with the Tyree Kill concept of trading him and getting a bunch of draft picks.
- 2:02[SPEAKER_02]: And that part of it is always, I think the biggest part of the combine.
- 2:09[SPEAKER_02]: And then something I tried this year, they haven't really done before, but it was based off an indirect recommendation of Dolphins General Manager John Erickson, that I asked him what he felt
- 2:20[SPEAKER_02]: most important part of the combine was in his opinion.
- 2:23[SPEAKER_02]: And he talked about seeing the guys interact with each other on the field and see, you know, obviously you get the interview process.
- 2:34[SPEAKER_02]: So like I usually don't do the workouts in person because I like to just like lock myself up and work through the numbers and update my data entry stuff.
- 2:44[SPEAKER_02]: And this year I went and I kind of just went and tried to observe guys and
- 2:48[SPEAKER_02]: Well, obviously the guy that's testing, but then the guys amongst themselves and how they interact with each other and try to take some observations from that as well.
- 2:57[SPEAKER_01]: No, I said, did you any particular people that stood out?
- 3:00[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I kind of saw, you know, Fernando Mendoza kind of taking part in all sorts of things, even though he wasn't taking part in anything.
- 3:06[SPEAKER_01]: In terms of his conversations with people, was there a player that kind of stood out to you?
- 3:10[SPEAKER_01]: It was like, okay, this guy kind of just gets it.
- 3:11[SPEAKER_01]: He's just his, he's everybody's friend.
- 3:13[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, a couple of juice guys.
- 3:15[SPEAKER_02]: I thought Lee Hunter was that kind of guy at the fence and tackle the big time personality that stands out in a big way when you get a chance to see him.
- 3:24[SPEAKER_02]: I also was more so from an interview process.
- 3:29[SPEAKER_02]: But one of the really compelling guys and then like the way he tested kind of caught me off guard Jalen Kilgore, the defensive back leg, safe e-nickle hybrid and being 61210 and running 44 flat with the kind of length that he has, it really kind of changed my perspective of him of a player.
- 3:49[SPEAKER_02]: Because he is a nickel hybrid, and I think that probably does put a little bit of a cap on what his draft stock will be, but listening to him talk and then the testing that went along with it.
- 4:01[SPEAKER_02]: I was really impressed with like how engaging he was personally to talk to and talking about his experience and how he goes about his preparation was very, very impressive.
- 4:13[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, just to the listeners, I work up to a message one morning that just said, sigh from you, followed by another and another and another that just said, sigh and then there wasn't one that said, sigh, sigh, sigh, sigh, and it was a, was a chaplain Gilgoth.
- 4:28[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 4:28[SPEAKER_01]: So he had a great work.
- 4:29[SPEAKER_01]: I was going to get to him in our safety section.
- 4:31[SPEAKER_01]: But we might as well do it now, 442 and 444, yeah 37 inch vertical, a 10-temporal jump, a 432 shuttle.
- 4:38[SPEAKER_01]: And yeah,
- 4:41[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, to me, he's not going to go out the second round Carlos, not what you think, but, you know, I think people are sleeping on them a little bit in terms of just the wider kind of draft Nick community, but I think the NFL know all about jet and kill.
- 4:52[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and, and physical too, right?
- 4:55[SPEAKER_02]: And you, you see what he does.
- 4:57[SPEAKER_02]: They, they put him out in that kind of apex roll quite a bit where he's got grass to cover and you see some transitional stuff with him that I really, really like.
- 5:07[SPEAKER_02]: I think for me, he's a top 100 lock, right?
- 5:09[SPEAKER_02]: It's, it's just a matter of, you know, does somebody who's a competitor have a vision for him,
- 5:16[SPEAKER_02]: Because I think top 50, I'd be surprised we wouldn't like top 50, but if you told me back half of the second round, great.
- 5:25[SPEAKER_02]: And if those teams are drafting maybe a little bit more skewing for need, like I could see him trickling into the early third round, but you know, I thought he was like a fringe top on our player coming in, because I like to take, but I knew he was a big effectively nickel that's a safety background as compared to a corner
- 5:45[SPEAKER_02]: And then man, that just the explosiveness, and then I went back and tried to see, tried to look for it.
- 5:52[SPEAKER_02]: And it's kind of hard in that spot because you don't have like the open field opportunities unless you're in pursuit a lot of the time because you're in the kind of inserted into the core a little bit more, but yeah, I think he's somebody that's stock is big time on the rise and I would say the floor is probably top 75.
- 6:11[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, no, he's a good player.
- 6:13[SPEAKER_01]: He's a good player.
- 6:14[SPEAKER_01]: Listen, you touched upon it there.
- 6:15[SPEAKER_01]: There's been a lot of talk about the players who didn't work out and how that affects.
- 6:19[SPEAKER_01]: I suppose the combine moving forwards and we'll get into that detail in a second, but our friend, friend, Duffy from the Philadelphia who was posted some interesting numbers in his draft newsletter last night, which I read the small name.
- 6:29[SPEAKER_01]: Fan goes back to 2020 and the participation rate for running back that year in terms of how much they did at the Commite was 93.3% this year was down to 61.9% for tight ends.
- 6:40[SPEAKER_01]: It was 89.85% in 2020 compared to 66% this year and then just 55.6% of Edge's worked out this year compared to 86 only six years ago.
- 6:51[SPEAKER_01]: Is this?
- 6:52[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it feels like a combination of factors, but is this to do with an IL and player empowerment?
- 6:58[SPEAKER_01]: Is it the influence of agents, protecting clients a little bit?
- 7:01[SPEAKER_01]: Is it or a little bit more?
- 7:03[SPEAKER_01]: Is it down to the fact that I suppose some of the most important drills, the agility ones have been moved to the end of the on-field workout, so people have been kind of going for three four hours, they kind of gasped.
- 7:12[SPEAKER_01]: I suppose the college football calendar plays into it, you know, we saw a lot of the Miami, the Indiana players not work out.
- 7:17[SPEAKER_01]: Um, and also teams have more access to things like GPS data anyway.
- 7:20[SPEAKER_01]: So they can gauge play speed more accurately and efficiently than they they were able to do years ago and players and agents know this.
- 7:28[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I think they all factor in, I don't what you think, but it feels like they, that's part of why people aren't working out.
- 7:35[SPEAKER_01]: But I kind of feel just a bit of a shame about the lack of competitive spirit.
- 7:39[SPEAKER_01]: that goes on, you know, people just just standing around and not do it.
- 7:43[SPEAKER_01]: And I get it.
- 7:43[SPEAKER_01]: I understand it.
- 7:45[SPEAKER_01]: I really do, but I just feel like.
- 7:49[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, maybe it's not in the spirit of the event.
- 7:51[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 7:52[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe that's an old fashion point of view.
- 7:53[SPEAKER_02]: Well, yeah, I think you can, you can look at the senior bowl in the shrine too, where, I mean, guys agree except the invites and not only do they back out the week of the event, but there's other guys that come in and like, they choose not to weigh in, they choose to not participate in the game.
- 8:10[SPEAKER_02]: They have one good practice and throw their hands up and say, Mission accomplished.
- 8:14[SPEAKER_02]: I'm good.
- 8:14[SPEAKER_02]: Some of them come in and are not working at all.
- 8:18[SPEAKER_02]: And I think the whole thing,
- 8:22[SPEAKER_02]: There's layers to it as you pointed out and I think there's very valid arguments for all of those elements of the timing of the workout, even the specificity right like Guys stack on weight and they'll do their power testing, maybe they'll do their their runs, but or they're maybe they'll do their jumps, but they won't run and they'll lift.
- 8:41[SPEAKER_02]: Other guys maybe trim down and try to just do the speed timing and then they'll come back on the pro day and.
- 8:46[SPEAKER_02]: That's when they'll run a little bit more friendly environment where they can get to a to a playing weight if they bulked up weight because they got a size concern it's just be couldn't so.
- 8:57[SPEAKER_02]: manipulated and twisted.
- 8:59[SPEAKER_02]: The draft process is supposed to be about like assessing you and the kind of the the combine training that guys go through the eight and 12 week programs on not just interviews but like how to run a 40 and what your starting needs to look like and it's not even really functional football stuff anymore at this point and for some guys it's like it's totally counterproductive to spend all that time investing and that's just shift gears and then
- 9:24[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 9:25[SPEAKER_02]: So it's a mess.
- 9:27[SPEAKER_02]: The whole thing really is, but it's it's like anything else when like this is the way we've always done it and the world is evolving.
- 9:35[SPEAKER_02]: And I don't know what the answer is but these events and the combine have to evolve with it or else they're going to be
- 9:44[SPEAKER_02]: antiquated fan experiences with very I mean there was six guys out of three hundred and however many guys were at the combine yeah that did every test which is shocking to me so it's appalling right so and then you got guys like Germán McCoy who desperately needs to work out and show that he's healthy and he's like I'm just I'm good but I'm saving it from my
- 10:15[SPEAKER_01]: technique is time that we'll be in an F.O.S.
- 10:16[SPEAKER_01]: County, combined.
- 10:18[SPEAKER_02]: I think there will always be something because the league is incentivized to have the event because they want domination in the calendar year round.
- 10:27[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
- 10:28[SPEAKER_02]: So if you remove that from the equation, it's one less event that takes away from another one of their events in the draft, they like the TV element of it.
- 10:38[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
- 10:38[SPEAKER_02]: So I think there will always be something there and the guys that are
- 10:45[SPEAKER_02]: to change it because they don't have any negotiating say in the CBA, right?
- 10:49[SPEAKER_02]: So when they go through their CBA negotiations every 10 years, who's going to speak up and say, well, let's make sure that we get the combine written out for the guys that are coming in every year, right?
- 11:01[SPEAKER_02]: Because those guys don't have a voice in that room.
- 11:04[SPEAKER_02]: So they'll want something.
- 11:05[SPEAKER_02]: I think there will always be something, but I think you have to find a way to
- 11:14[SPEAKER_02]: adjust what the expectations are.
- 11:17[SPEAKER_02]: I think that's or the on field stuff needs to to change and evolve and you need to do different things.
- 11:23[SPEAKER_02]: And it's maybe just the workouts and you do the actual testing and runs, you know, it's less centerpiece of what the event is and it's more the on field workout.
- 11:34[SPEAKER_02]: So you could see these guys working outside by side.
- 11:35[SPEAKER_02]: And if you're going to have to work out, then don't come and you're not inviting them.
- 11:39[SPEAKER_01]: exactly.
- 11:40[SPEAKER_01]: I've got a friend who's an agent and we will what's happening throughout the process across all four days and he's got three likely or at least three potential first round picks including a guy in the top ten who ran but ran a slow time and I think there's probably a locality that was.
- 11:54[SPEAKER_01]: And he wants his guys to compete, but his second guy did everything but the 40 and his third guy really didn't do anything very much.
- 12:05[SPEAKER_01]: And he said, look, it's a combination of factors.
- 12:07[SPEAKER_01]: He said, but the players are smarter in terms of knowing what they know.
- 12:10[SPEAKER_01]: You look at David Bailey, who isn't a kind of he is, but did everything except the drill that you knew he wasn't going to do particularly well.
- 12:16[SPEAKER_01]: And it was going to get knocked for, for example.
- 12:19[SPEAKER_01]: And this agent was saying that, you know, there are lots and lots and lots now of outside influences, you know, the NIL thing as how huge effect.
- 12:28[SPEAKER_01]: The family members are saying don't do this, do this, don't do this, do that event, do, you know, cherry pick what you want.
- 12:34[SPEAKER_01]: And he said even for an agent, you know, it's quite difficult.
- 12:37[SPEAKER_01]: He wants his guys to go out and compete.
- 12:40[SPEAKER_01]: But it's quite difficult to get them to do it, because they know what potentially is it.
- 12:44[SPEAKER_01]: And you take a guy like, and he's not a first round guy.
- 12:48[SPEAKER_01]: So this is not a, we're not talking about a Macay Lemon or a Jemod Macoy just to pick two names out of the air.
- 12:54[SPEAKER_01]: But you look at a guy like Miles Kitsum and for example, who's a tight end who's tape, I like a decent amount from Tennessee.
- 12:59[SPEAKER_01]: He runs a 493.
- 13:01[SPEAKER_01]: That clearly is going to have a major league effect
- 13:04[SPEAKER_01]: you know, where he ends up as in he's almost certainly not really drafted.
- 13:07[SPEAKER_01]: Now, that's not what that happened to, you know, a David Bailey or a Ruben Bane or a key method or if they work out, but you can see that if they turn up and run slowly, as has always been the case, but with the outside influences and social media as it is and, you know, however many, you know, accreditation's the word for people at the combine, these things will have a knock on effect and, you know, I do get it.
- 13:32[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I think the, the part that I would tell any player that's going through this process and trying to determine how to weigh all that out would be.
- 13:41[SPEAKER_02]: That is a reality of the process, but it's also how good team state good because a good team will recognize and draft you.
- 13:51[SPEAKER_02]: appropriate or opportunistically, I should say, if you're a modest, physical, tools, tight-end, like kids on it, and you run for nine, which I don't think anybody would be surprised when they watched him play, that he is not a four six guy, right?
- 14:07[SPEAKER_02]: That's not his, his speed.
- 14:10[SPEAKER_02]: A good team will still recognize what your value is, and they will probably have a better expectation for what your role is.
- 14:15[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 14:15[SPEAKER_02]: And if you're a late round guy and you go on
- 14:19[SPEAKER_02]: a lot of the time that's it's a better opportunity for a lot of guys because you get the the priority undrafted free agent signing bonuses.
- 14:27[SPEAKER_02]: You get to pick and choose your spot.
- 14:28[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, there's a whole school of folks out there who say abolish the draft as a whole and give everybody a budget and let the players like have it like a free agency where they come in.
- 14:37[SPEAKER_02]: And I don't advocate for that, but for those guys who don't get drafted,
- 14:42[SPEAKER_02]: That school of thought does exist that it's almost better to pick and choose your spot for where you get to go or who you had the best connection with or who you feel has the best vision for you or where your best opportunity is to play.
- 14:54[SPEAKER_02]: So especially if you're not an early round guy.
- 14:58[SPEAKER_02]: If you're not an early round guy, you know, have the full transparency because the good teams are still going to see you for what you are.
- 15:04[SPEAKER_02]: They're still going to have a vision for it.
- 15:06[SPEAKER_02]: And if you're a late round guy that doesn't go drafted,
- 15:10[SPEAKER_02]: There's plenty of examples of successful undrafted free agents because they go to the right situation, the right opportunity.
- 15:15[SPEAKER_02]: And if you're in demand, you're still going to have an opportunity to collect the signing bonus.
- 15:20[SPEAKER_02]: And some of those, you get more guarantees than what you do for guys drafted in the seventh round, too.
- 15:27[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, listen to it over the draft.
- 15:28[SPEAKER_01]: We wouldn't have anything to talk about.
- 15:30[SPEAKER_01]: I will be really hard.
- 15:32[SPEAKER_01]: What are we doing?
- 15:33[SPEAKER_02]: We don't eat lotteries and we don't need no draft at all.
- 15:36[SPEAKER_02]: You know, those are the two things that come up every year this time of year.
- 15:38[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm like, Oh, no, I'm filled with out that.
- 15:40[SPEAKER_02]: That's the 100%.
- 15:41[SPEAKER_01]: 100%.
- 15:42[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 15:43[SPEAKER_01]: Let's get into day one.
- 15:44[SPEAKER_01]: The linebackers, edge rushers, where will you come in the news of a room and baton and castious house arm length?
- 15:51[SPEAKER_01]: Started to walk through the corridors and what was the reaction of NFL personnel that you know, I mean,
- 15:55[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think it came as a surprise, particularly to anybody in terms of, wow, these guys are what short arms, it's not like we haven't been talking about for six months, but the confirmation, I think, was probably the thing that hit everybody, what was it like when the news came through?
- 16:09[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I was in the media work room and it was kind of like, oh, that's a smaller number than I expected.
- 16:13[SPEAKER_02]: We knew it was going to be a small number, right?
- 16:15[SPEAKER_02]: And I think for both players, you can defer to the tape.
- 16:18[SPEAKER_02]: That was the thing that both of those players when we when I kind of asked around and spoke with whoever I spoke to kind of talked about, you know, it's you go back to tape.
- 16:27[SPEAKER_02]: It shouldn't be a surprise, right?
- 16:30[SPEAKER_02]: And I think for being, I don't really.
- 16:33[SPEAKER_02]: see it being this backbreaking issue because his style of play because still has power on his hands and even if you even if somebody gets him in grip and in close quarters, he's so compact to play up under and through and the amount of time it has.
- 16:53[SPEAKER_02]: he can still create space and the power that he has and then he has accuracy with how he uses his hands.
- 17:01[SPEAKER_02]: I still don't see a lot of issues with deconstructing blocks.
- 17:03[SPEAKER_02]: It's just he's going to be a close quarter's player a lot of the time.
- 17:07[SPEAKER_02]: And in that case it's going to be muddy reps and dirty reps, but he feels all that very well.
- 17:13[SPEAKER_02]: I think it's a huge deal for cash out though.
- 17:16[SPEAKER_02]: Like.
- 17:17[SPEAKER_02]: I don't really see a lot of run defense reps that I find attractive in the first place.
- 17:24[SPEAKER_02]: A lot of his rush landmarks are high and outside.
- 17:30[SPEAKER_02]: And if you don't have the knockback,
- 17:36[SPEAKER_02]: or the functional ability to play into somebody's frame and then create, recreate the space because Bain has that with his power.
- 17:47[SPEAKER_02]: I think you'll get swallowed up a lot and how has the best speed rush bag of anybody in the class?
- 17:52[SPEAKER_02]: But
- 17:53[SPEAKER_02]: I think it really just makes him a speed rush guy so for me like I don't see what the early down and 90% of snap value is for him as a player.
- 18:02[SPEAKER_02]: I think he's he for me is much more of a third down rush specialist speed package type of player who's probably going to get 400 snaps of season unless something very unforeseen happens and he gets a very tailored role for him which could happen for me like it really hurts him because I knew he was short arm but
- 18:19[SPEAKER_02]: like he's almost a full enshorter than Bane and we're all allowed by Bane's armlines.
- 18:26[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, the Bane thing is interesting because I've never watched him and thought, you know, you're being really affected by your shorter than average arms.
- 18:32[SPEAKER_01]: I think there's so much power in his hips and in his lower body, the hum movie has that creates space and all those things in the way that he works.
- 18:40[SPEAKER_01]: To me, it's just not, you know, and I don't look at Rube Bane and think he's a 15-second season guy anyway.
- 18:46[SPEAKER_01]: That's me as not what his game is.
- 18:48[SPEAKER_01]: The how thing is interesting because like you say, the speed rush stuff is it is electric, he almost sort of falls into a kind of old and smith, the down-only sub-package owner and the role.
- 18:59[SPEAKER_01]: And you know, when you watch him play and especially against good tackles, you know, you look at the playoff, for example, against Maragawa, you know, the fact that whenever he got his hands on him, the
- 19:12[SPEAKER_01]: How does out the play?
- 19:13[SPEAKER_01]: There's nothing that he can do in terms of, he just doesn't have that armament, that functional strength to be able to
- 19:20[SPEAKER_01]: To uncurl and play, yes, the reactionary correctness.
- 19:23[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, the speed of football, all those things are great, but that only takes you so far.
- 19:28[SPEAKER_01]: There were a couple of standouts, or there were lots of standouts, but a couple of really kind of high level standouts on day one, specifically, I think that the two guys from Ohio State are their recent and sunny stars and discovered your staff and it was our work Brea, who mentioned your state that one of the teams at interviewed stars who apparently was unbelievable in the room.
- 19:46[SPEAKER_01]: They gave me a standing evasion, they didn't say what team it was, but I thought it was quite interesting, slightly odd, but quite interesting, but those two were interesting, but then there was, you know, to me, there was some, some other really good, okay, let me limbs all I thought worked out really well, Jay Golday, our old friend, Jacob Rodriguez, I thought, did a great job in terms of just conveying all that we'd seen on tape this year in terms of just a really good physical workout, Carl Louise, I thought worked out really well, who else, who else have pressed you car from when you were there.
- 20:13[SPEAKER_02]: I think Rodriguez is a great call out for I always saw the football instincts, but it was kind of like the Jalen Gilberr thing we already talked about was like oh he's got that kind of twitchiness to him and I guess I don't think it it shined a lot on tape.
- 20:32[SPEAKER_02]: primarily because of how fast he saw things, right?
- 20:36[SPEAKER_02]: So it's like he's already moving in the right direction.
- 20:39[SPEAKER_02]: As compared to with sunny styles, there's stuff where he's on a zone drop on the back side and the quarterback takes off and he runs and he breaks the line of screwage and you see sunny how he opens his strides and like his acceleration really just comes from the amount of grass that he takes when he decides to open up his strides.
- 20:59[SPEAKER_02]: where ends with Rodriguez a lot of times he'll take for me was he's already kind of
- 21:05[SPEAKER_02]: fading in the right direction in anticipating plays happening not to say that Sonny doesn't have that, but it's just an example of that's where I saw the first time I had the Ahah with Sonny Stiles was on one of those types of reps, like wow, look at that acceleration, look how he closes that distance without increasing the speed of his feet, it's just how how he opens himself up.
- 21:27[SPEAKER_02]: And Rodriguez is like,
- 21:29[SPEAKER_02]: always seeing stuff so fast.
- 21:31[SPEAKER_02]: So that that for me was a big winner.
- 21:34[SPEAKER_02]: I really like the gold days interviews.
- 21:36[SPEAKER_02]: You mentioned him as well.
- 21:37[SPEAKER_02]: I think he's a great call out.
- 21:40[SPEAKER_02]: Big, big, big player for for linebacker position with some past rush profile.
- 21:46[SPEAKER_02]: I wouldn't be surprised if both of those guys go in the top 64.
- 21:50[SPEAKER_02]: And it's it's a great
- 21:52[SPEAKER_02]: Class of all fall linebackers.
- 21:53[SPEAKER_02]: I think I like a lot of these guys.
- 21:55[SPEAKER_02]: I like Josiah Trotter reminded me a little bit of Jordan Brooks with his demeanor as far as like he has this quiet Confidence about him in the way that he speaks and talking about transferring from West Virginia to Missouri and being in the SEC and how it changed his prep and the way that he takes care of his body and the things that he does
- 22:16[SPEAKER_02]: from Sunday to Friday to be at his best on a Saturday for a kid that's 20 years old.
- 22:22[SPEAKER_02]: Like you expect that because of his family pedigrees, brothers in the NFL and his dad played for a decade, but just listening to him talk and his demeanor, but the intensity that also like simultaneously existed kind of struck me as the first time I heard Jordan Brooks talk in that way the first year he came down to Miami for agency that I really, really liked.
- 22:43[SPEAKER_02]: I think he's got a lot of room to grow.
- 22:46[SPEAKER_02]: Super refined with the pass down stuff, but he's got Blitz appeal and pass rush appeal as a player as a pressure player and the skies the limit for him.
- 22:56[SPEAKER_02]: So he he was a guy who stood out to me for the interaction element of what he brought us.
- 23:01[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, he always struck me as straight business, which is good to hear kind of back up.
- 23:05[SPEAKER_01]: And I found that work kind of taken some characters and some individuals and they focus very heavily on them.
- 23:12[SPEAKER_01]: and Lee Hunter was one of them.
- 23:15[SPEAKER_01]: When it came to the defensive line, I don't know how much of the the NFL network stuff you saw probably not very much because you were working and sitting in the arena and stuff.
- 23:22[SPEAKER_01]: But I'm just such an interesting guy.
- 23:24[SPEAKER_01]: I was finishing up defensive tackles last week and you know that there's some fascinating stuff on tape.
- 23:28[SPEAKER_01]: But to me, you know, there's some bad weight there on on very skinny legs.
- 23:33[SPEAKER_01]: And I was just, you know, I don't really care.
- 23:37[SPEAKER_01]: too much about some of the drills and some of the numbers, but a 21.5-inch vertical and an eight-four-board jump to meet dirt screen, that sort of interior explosion I was necessarily expecting from a guy who can be explosive likely hunter.
- 23:52[SPEAKER_01]: Do you think that a team looks at a 21.5-inch board jump from a guy who's £350 or whatever he is and thinks that's a question mark or do you think that's just a drill that everybody does it because everybody does it goes back to the point
- 24:07[SPEAKER_01]: that that just kind of gets passed by.
- 24:09[SPEAKER_01]: Well, how do you think a vertical like that gets taken by a by a general manager or a front office, et cetera?
- 24:15[SPEAKER_02]: I think if it's not a flag for you, I think I would encourage you to reconsider, right?
- 24:20[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, that's an off the reservation level low jump.
- 24:25[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think I've ever heard of a jump that low of that is six inches lower than the next lowest jump of any defensive tackle and you mentioned the weight like amazingly infectious personality big time juice guy I think where his power shows up for me is is with his hands when it's the ability like he'll hit some like a quick swim over top of you and like getting into a gap but it's when he's got his hands on you when he can throw you like that's where I think you see him
- 24:53[SPEAKER_02]: But then you watch some of the the point of attack stuff against doubles and I think you see kind of the top heaviness that he plays with.
- 25:00[SPEAKER_02]: And I don't think he's going to go in this strategy.
- 25:03[SPEAKER_02]: He's had some champions of like guys that are among the best in the business to be like a top 30 player in the class and I don't think he's in that stratosphere at all.
- 25:13[SPEAKER_02]: I think he's probably a midday to guy for for how I evaluated him on tape.
- 25:18[SPEAKER_02]: And that comes with some bad weight that comes with some inconsistencies with how he plays the point of attack.
- 25:30[SPEAKER_02]: Let's not forget he had two all-time penetration and pressure threats on the outside on that defensive line with Romelo Height, who's one of the more refined guys and then David Bailey without linearly explosive he is.
- 25:45[SPEAKER_02]: that made his life easier and pulled those tackles and extra blocking help out.
- 25:48[SPEAKER_02]: So you get some one-on-ones.
- 25:51[SPEAKER_02]: I think you'd be doing yourself a disservice to not look at a jump like that.
- 25:55[SPEAKER_02]: Given where the conversation was with him and not go back and ask yourself some new questions.
- 26:05[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I found him.
- 26:09[SPEAKER_01]: interesting.
- 26:10[SPEAKER_01]: I thought it was a good play.
- 26:11[SPEAKER_01]: I thought it was fun to watch.
- 26:13[SPEAKER_01]: Again, had a lot of the concerns that you did.
- 26:17[SPEAKER_01]: It's pads come up.
- 26:18[SPEAKER_01]: It comes up too high for me.
- 26:20[SPEAKER_01]: There's, you know, I mean, when you just had low, you could be, you know, almost employable at times.
- 26:25[SPEAKER_01]: And there's that walk-back power, that quick-sized step and swim, the hand-play, the hand-strain, the Rolex, and you're talking
- 26:37[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I just, there were just some questions that I aimed at that having him in my top fiber, he was my fifth top DT actually, and I was surprised that he's significantly higher for a look.
- 26:51[SPEAKER_01]: It would be boring if we were to have the same great on plays, we also the same things.
- 26:54[SPEAKER_01]: I was surprised that people had him as kind of first or second on on that list.
- 26:58[SPEAKER_02]: Couple of guys, real quick, I can see him being like a little
- 27:05[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, agreed.
- 27:07[SPEAKER_02]: So that's the kind of player that's like you get him in the right situation.
- 27:10[SPEAKER_02]: You you really get him rolling like he could be really disruptive and and Tart obviously had that with the chargers to get the through your contract extension, but even his stop with the Titans, right?
- 27:21[SPEAKER_02]: Like he wore his well, he wore his welcome out real quick because there was some inconsistency stuff.
- 27:25[SPEAKER_02]: And then it was some off the field stuff on on top of that that I don't know that Lee Hunter's going to have any issues with that kind of stuff,
- 27:31[SPEAKER_02]: I could just see him being very like the highs are high in the lows are low and it might drive you crazy.
- 27:37[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, a couple of other things that just stood out for me.
- 27:41[SPEAKER_01]: Well, the folk I thought generally performed alright, but looked a little bit stiff.
- 27:44[SPEAKER_01]: I thought in his movements during drills.
- 27:46[SPEAKER_01]: And then Zion Young, who didn't run at all, I mean, it kind of concerns about his speed after the GPS tracking at the senior boss load showed that he wasn't particularly fast.
- 27:56[SPEAKER_01]: I, again, I thought he looked a little bit labored during his pastoral and through the bags and the figure of A, I don't know if you had any takeaway on that.
- 28:05[SPEAKER_02]: For focus, an individual or for the position group with you.
- 28:09[SPEAKER_01]: Just as, just as how you felt he looked in, in India, really.
- 28:12[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I thought he was fine, and what struck me the most about folk seeing him up close and in person was he looked like a puppy with big pause still.
- 28:22[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you were a baby, isn't it?
- 28:24[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's like his, he's well developed, but you see some of these guys that are like the 23 and 24 year olds and like they got that like the big rocked up builds.
- 28:33[SPEAKER_02]: and folks like he's so dense in the lower half because of his frame, but you see his upper body and he could probably fit 25, 30 pounds on his frame still.
- 28:45[SPEAKER_02]: And that was the thing that stood out the most to me and it's, you know, kicking around as he is he a big end, as he had the forest buttoner type at the fence attack.
- 28:55[SPEAKER_02]: I could totally see
- 28:56[SPEAKER_02]: that being the most favorable pathway as he continues to fill out his frame, it's just a matter of, okay, now you're getting in a totally different area of projection for the role that Hill play and how he will take to it.
- 29:10[SPEAKER_02]: I thought he, he has no bad weight on him.
- 29:14[SPEAKER_02]: It's just like, wow, he's really still got a lot of room to grow into himself.
- 29:18[SPEAKER_02]: And it's he's leaving himself.
- 29:20[SPEAKER_02]: It's great to have.
- 29:21[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I thought it was fascinating that he was 288 and I know that, you know, collegiate listings are always tend to be a little bit wild.
- 29:29[SPEAKER_01]: And he was 288 in this season in terms of how he was listed in the media guide for Auburn.
- 29:35[SPEAKER_01]: But I think he was 273 or 275.
- 29:37[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, I mean, that's, you know, that moves him.
- 29:42[SPEAKER_01]: Those 12 pounds are, you know, that's a, that's a big difference.
- 29:45[SPEAKER_01]: I think in terms of, you know, because like you say, I think you could definitely add the way and the, I mean, that the Tigers employed in pretty much inside anywhere from two to four I, you know, and as far out as a pretty much a wide nine, and there wasn't actually that much drop off from position to position.
- 30:01[SPEAKER_01]: You had to wear lots of hats and I think people look, take a kind of cursory look and see the stats go down, the sack numbers went down,
- 30:07[SPEAKER_01]: but actually, you know, I think he was asked to do an awful lot of things and the question for me is, you know, whether or not a four-eye or a five technique could be the best way to maximise his ability moving forwards.
- 30:18[SPEAKER_01]: I think he's a good player and like you say, I think the Deforespotna things are really good.
- 30:24[SPEAKER_01]: I mentioned it in passing to actually into our kind of group chat and I think he himself mentioned
- 30:36[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, I like folk moving forwards.
- 30:37[SPEAKER_01]: In today too, then defensive backs, tight ends.
- 30:41[SPEAKER_01]: To me, and we mentioned it a little bit of a very disappointing I think to see so many of the top guys not running.
- 30:46[SPEAKER_01]: Avion Terrell, Jamad McCoy, Mansor Delaney, Kion Tay Scott, who kind of gets a bit of a pass for the playoff.
- 30:52[SPEAKER_01]: Same with the Anso Ponds, Brandon C. Say, and then Keith Adney.
- 30:56[SPEAKER_01]: We touched upon it a little bit at the top.
- 30:58[SPEAKER_01]: But where are you on McCoy not working out at all, given we were told that he wasn't playing the rest of the season, even though he was 100%.
- 31:04[SPEAKER_01]: solely to prepare for the draft and then rocks up at the that the biggest show of all and decides he's not working.
- 31:11[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah it's I have more questions and answers and that's yeah it's not where you want to be.
- 31:15[SPEAKER_02]: I know Todd McShay had mentioned recently that the league didn't take particularly kind to the strategy either.
- 31:24[SPEAKER_02]: So he better have one heck of a pro-day
- 31:32[SPEAKER_02]: or if the medical's come back with feedback and I believe one of my colleagues at A to Z sports said there was no initial flags with the the combine medical check for him, but I think about what happened to Will Johnson last year, right?
- 31:45[SPEAKER_02]: And that was everybody's consensus top 15 player and he'd last to 47 or whatever it was.
- 31:52[SPEAKER_02]: And, um,
- 31:56[SPEAKER_02]: I forgot who missed all of last year and now we're sitting at the combine, whatever boxes we have left or opportunities.
- 32:03[SPEAKER_02]: We have left.
- 32:03[SPEAKER_02]: We need to check all the boxes with.
- 32:06[SPEAKER_01]: I thought I was a very, very strange decision I've got to say.
- 32:09[SPEAKER_01]: And just, whether that was his, whether that was an agent, whatever, I'd just made no sense.
- 32:14[SPEAKER_01]: And what made it worse, I think, was that, and it was probably reported to you guys, but it was certainly reported on an F.R.
- 32:20[SPEAKER_01]: network, that essentially he was absolutely fine.
- 32:24[SPEAKER_01]: He was 100% that he was great.
- 32:25[SPEAKER_01]: He just wanted to, you know, if you're not going to work out,
- 32:31[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I don't want to see him and advocate lying.
- 32:34[SPEAKER_01]: I just think to say that everything's fine, you feel 100% you just don't want to do it.
- 32:38[SPEAKER_01]: Just to me, he is just a really bows-o move from whoever's decision that was.
- 32:43[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I just thought that was, I was very honest, who stood out for you from the corners and certainly something, I thought a couple of the under the radar and I thought he has a kind of masses of cow worked out really well.
- 32:54[SPEAKER_01]: He's a guy I liked on tape, I thought he looked good, he looked fluid, he moved well, who for you stood out.
- 33:00[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, I could not believe the testing numbers for Julie and Neil from Arkansas.
- 33:05[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, six to 203 almost 33 inch arms ran sub four five 40 inch vert 11 to broad did the three cone and did it in 713 for for a big corner.
- 33:19[SPEAKER_02]: It's not a bad time, right?
- 33:22[SPEAKER_02]: So I thought he went through the whole deal and checked a lot of boxes.
- 33:26[SPEAKER_02]: or a guy who I liked is like a press guy, but I was like, okay, like he's probably going to be a scheme specific guy because of his stature.
- 33:34[SPEAKER_02]: The functional athleticism I thought was really good with him.
- 33:37[SPEAKER_02]: So he was one that stood out and then to Cario Davis Holy smokes.
- 33:40[SPEAKER_02]: The former Arizona Wildcat.
- 33:43[SPEAKER_02]: You think about him in Stooks, right?
- 33:45[SPEAKER_02]: His Arizona's got some some big dynamic corners.
- 33:49[SPEAKER_02]: And obviously, David spent this last year at Washington.
- 33:53[SPEAKER_02]: But another guy that four four one.
- 33:56[SPEAKER_02]: It's six three and change.
- 33:59[SPEAKER_02]: That's and I 33 and a half inch arms like that.
- 34:03[SPEAKER_02]: That's crazy length.
- 34:05[SPEAKER_01]: I try to run a four four six it what just under the six four.
- 34:10[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, yeah, what are they feeding these kids.
- 34:20[SPEAKER_02]: So there's some big, big, fast linear corners.
- 34:23[SPEAKER_02]: Now, how does that translate to functional play?
- 34:27[SPEAKER_02]: Like, that's where you look at the tape and you see it.
- 34:29[SPEAKER_02]: But I thought you, if you needed size and disruption on at perimeter corner, I think you feel really good about some of these guys and their ability to carry vertically based on the test, the tested speed.
- 34:42[SPEAKER_02]: If their technique is right.
- 34:45[SPEAKER_01]: No, I think you're right.
- 34:46[SPEAKER_01]: What did you make of the subsequent report that came out from my team?
- 34:51[SPEAKER_01]: It was Corey Kinnan talking about Caleb Downs and his knee and said that he had an MSEL, Pasha Lemsiel Terran, a degenerative ACL, which has not been reported anywhere else.
- 35:03[SPEAKER_01]: And teams have been telling, apparently been telling people through Gaza Peter Schreger and
- 35:13[SPEAKER_02]: were you hearing anything on that out there or I I did not personally hear anything and some of my colleagues at A to Z sports had some sources that are are close to downs who kind of refuted the whole thing as well.
- 35:32[SPEAKER_02]: So I don't know if this is smoke screen misinformation season like I know Cory and he's a good dude like I don't doubt like whatever he heard and was told and I believe he said he vetted it and heard it for more than one person that he asked and went to so.
- 35:47[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know where his connections are that that prompted that, but I know my colleagues at A to Z who kind of reached out to some sources close to downs.
- 35:57[SPEAKER_02]: They all vehemently push back on it and then you had some teams courtesy of the names that you mentioned, Schrager, Glazer, Pat McAfee said that they reached out to several teams and they all kind of said that it wasn't anything that had flagged for them.
- 36:14[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm not sure exactly what the deal is there.
- 36:17[SPEAKER_02]: That's the hard part about this time of year, right?
- 36:19[SPEAKER_02]: Is anybody can say anything, and I'm not saying that, you know, and I trust that Cory heard what he heard, but if you're somebody with a team or if you've got an information agenda or whatever, right?
- 36:34[SPEAKER_02]: Like all kinds of misinformation or all kinds of deliberate information,
- 36:38[SPEAKER_02]: Stuff that gets out there this time of year, usually is out there for some motivation or reason.
- 36:44[SPEAKER_02]: And it makes it very messy when there's 32 separate interests just from the league side of things.
- 36:50[SPEAKER_02]: Never mind that the prospects amongst each other and
- 36:53[SPEAKER_02]: I remember a few years back, it was some about eight in Hutchinson, right?
- 36:58[SPEAKER_02]: And it was like, the Trevon Walker, eight in Hutchinson, cave on Tibido, kind of game of thrones, chaos is a ladder.
- 37:05[SPEAKER_02]: They're all trying to climb over each other for draft positioning.
- 37:07[SPEAKER_02]: And there was some stuff about Hutch that I believe came out like the last couple of weeks running up to the draft and it was like,
- 37:14[SPEAKER_02]: Where this come from, nobody had ever heard this before, but it's, you know, that kind of stuff, it comes from all angles, and it makes it a very messy, true finding process at times.
- 37:26[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'm hoping it was Jeff Hathley and John Erick's fellow and that was spreading these very specific rumors about it and falling, so that forced to have to pick 11.
- 37:35[SPEAKER_01]: Some good performances, I mean, you mentioned a couple of guys trading stukes, I thought, a great VGA pain, a great, but I kind of feel like I sort of buried the lead here in terms of safety, it's because still and team them and produced one of the kind of all-time, pretty much great on field work opportunities.
- 37:49[SPEAKER_01]: You know, around the 435, which I was the 41, it's vertical, apparently great in interviews.
- 37:54[SPEAKER_01]: but I just thought how he moved in the drills was just sensational.
- 37:57[SPEAKER_01]: The back pedal, the transition was as good as pretty much any corner in this class.
- 38:01[SPEAKER_01]: You know, the movements were sudden and deliberate.
- 38:03[SPEAKER_01]: There was no wasted movement, no wasted motion and all that and I kind of six foot 200 and two, trying to one pound frame and yeah, he looked bigger but still moved just incredibly well.
- 38:13[SPEAKER_01]: He was a, he was a superstar.
- 38:16[SPEAKER_02]: He actually liked, I went back after the testing and watched more of the Purdue stuff.
- 38:22[SPEAKER_02]: Actually like Purdue stuff, it gave me a little bit better picture of like that part of his game.
- 38:27[SPEAKER_02]: I was like, oh, okay, like, okay, I see a little bit more.
- 38:30[SPEAKER_02]: So that's always a healthier reminder to kind of take especially across multiple programs with multiple, try to get that previous picture as well.
- 38:41[SPEAKER_02]: Cause sometimes it can be enlightening.
- 38:43[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and that was very much a played a very different role than the opinion in terms of what he was asked to do and versus what he does for that defense in, you know, the playmaking range at Purdue whereas more underneath, more unsports stuff are Oregon and, you know, because he's played for Dan Lening, he's a guy who's run deep half and deep middle and gawters and, you know, hook and man and, you know, he's pretty much,
- 39:07[SPEAKER_01]: He's pretty much seen it all.
- 39:08[SPEAKER_01]: I thought it was just an outstanding, outstanding, obviously.
- 39:12[SPEAKER_02]: I doubled those snaps in the box and half the amount of snaps at free safety.
- 39:18[SPEAKER_02]: This year, Oregon, then what he did the previous year, Purdue.
- 39:20[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, which kind of tells you everything you need to know given, you know, how he has performed at both schools.
- 39:26[SPEAKER_01]: And the tight end performances were dominated, essentially by the kind of
- 39:29[SPEAKER_01]: Sadeek versus Stauers face off in terms of trying to outdo each other at every single event.
- 39:34[SPEAKER_01]: But there was some nice under the radar showing as well.
- 39:36[SPEAKER_01]: I thought John Michael Gillenburg, Sam Roush, Dalam Bentley in the drills.
- 39:41[SPEAKER_01]: Don't know who caught your eye out at the time.
- 39:43[SPEAKER_01]: Before we go to break.
- 39:44[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I thought Sam Roush really helped himself a lot and you see him up close and in person and this dude's a break house six to 70 he doesn't have great length but because he's such a broad frame like he's he could still offer some connection and the degree of difficulty of his assignments.
- 40:05[SPEAKER_02]: as a blocker is NFL stuff right off the jump.
- 40:10[SPEAKER_02]: And at 267, I mean, we were in the three cone in 708.
- 40:13[SPEAKER_02]: We jump 38 and a half in the broads.
- 40:15[SPEAKER_02]: So if you're looking for short area agility, check box.
- 40:19[SPEAKER_02]: You're looking for short area explosiveness, a 1 6 1 10 yarn, a 38 inch vert, a 10 6 broad, right?
- 40:24[SPEAKER_02]: Like check the box.
- 40:27[SPEAKER_02]: He's somebody who I think
- 40:31[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if he's ever going to be a runaway guy as a pass game threat, but Stanford also really had a hard time with the concept of the forward pass during his time.
- 40:40[SPEAKER_02]: Stanford.
- 40:41[SPEAKER_02]: So I see a guy who's going to be a lot better and more consistent of a pro although the receiving profile last year was over 500 receiving.
- 40:49[SPEAKER_02]: So it wasn't like he was an unproductive player.
- 40:53[SPEAKER_02]: I think he's going to be a very reliable, white Titan who's not going to have that developmental curve that a lot of Titans have when they come from college to the pro because the assignments look so different.
- 41:05[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, he also has the greatest lineage of any player.
- 41:10[SPEAKER_01]: I think I've ever graded in all the years I've done this.
- 41:13[SPEAKER_01]: He's farther play football at Duke.
- 41:15[SPEAKER_01]: By the play volleyball at Montana State, his maternal grandfather played football at Utah State and in the NFL with the Rams, the Broncos and the Bills, his maternal great uncle is Merlin Olson, pro footballer of Famer, a second maternal great uncle is Orin Olson, who was a star at BYU and with the chiefs, his paternal grandfather played at Ohio, his paternal uncle played football won a national championship in North Western, his paternal great grandfather played baseball for the St. Louis Cardinals and a second great grandfather was a national championship runner up.
- 41:45[SPEAKER_01]: at the 1941 NIT with our hire, and he's got a cousin called Hans, who has played football at BYU, and he played rugby in Qualillum, Parmalasia, Jakarta, all over Indonesia, as a rugby standout when he was a kid, so, I mean, there's some serious background there in terms of, in terms of family talent.
- 42:04[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 42:04[SPEAKER_01]: And it was really nice and you're great, paternal grandfather, you know, you've got something in your camp, right?
- 42:09[SPEAKER_03]: Great.
- 42:10[SPEAKER_01]: Right, before we get to day three and four, just tell you quickly about mold core environment last sponsor South Florida's trusted mold inspection experts.

- 42:46[SPEAKER_01]: We'll be back in a minute.
- 42:49[SPEAKER_01]: Welcome back, let's get into day three at Indianapolis Car was there.
- 42:52[SPEAKER_01]: I wasn't about watching on TV, we had caught that, running back.
- 42:55[SPEAKER_01]: and wide receivers.
- 42:56[SPEAKER_01]: There was no Fernando Mendoza car, but we did see Tyson's and throw the ball, and actually I thought his workout was really excellent.
- 43:02[SPEAKER_01]: I thought his technicals were were very good, his footwork, his drop, his body control, his throwing base, all of those things were excellent.
- 43:10[SPEAKER_01]: I thought he threw the ball really well, he throws over the middle wall.
- 43:13[SPEAKER_01]: You know, we're on time and delivered strongly, he, you know, I thought it was anti-Supportory.
- 43:19[SPEAKER_01]: And one scout takes to me to say it was one of the best, of course, call it back workout.
- 43:22[SPEAKER_01]: So he's seen him in the last decade.
- 43:24[SPEAKER_01]: How did you think that the Tysubs and Loops?
- 43:26[SPEAKER_02]: I thought he had a great week.
- 43:28[SPEAKER_02]: I liked his podium stuff.
- 43:29[SPEAKER_02]: He gave a great, great recall of a full play call from a touchdown pass against Wisconsin early in the season.
- 43:38[SPEAKER_02]: And then with the old field stuff, he put the way back on.
- 43:41[SPEAKER_02]: He was to 11 and it was reported that he was down in the 190s at the end of the day.
- 43:48[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, so I thought like physically carried himself well.
- 43:51[SPEAKER_02]: I thought that really helped him and to your point like everything looked clean stroke, good placement, good velocity, look strong and and look fluid.
- 44:03[SPEAKER_02]: So those were things that the questions that I had a lot of the questions that I had with Tybee on just like seasoning and experience was what what what what's the physical tools that we have to work with here?
- 44:15[SPEAKER_02]: And obviously he's got a little bit
- 44:17[SPEAKER_02]: But he didn't look like a under gifted player.
- 44:24[SPEAKER_02]: He looked like a sufficient level across the board tools to be a starting NFL quarterback, just watching him throw.
- 44:34[SPEAKER_02]: And that with how light he was at the end of the season was I think one of the bigger questions that I had physically for him.
- 44:40[SPEAKER_02]: I felt better about those elements of him than what I did come into the week.
- 44:44[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think as we stand here match the fifth of our question for you.
- 44:47[SPEAKER_01]: One of those horrendous, put you on the spot questions.
- 44:49[SPEAKER_01]: Yes or no, Tyson's in the first round.
- 44:52[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
- 44:53[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, interesting.
- 44:54[SPEAKER_02]: I think we're we're hard enough for answers at that position for enough teams and some of them have multiple first round picks Cleveland, like I think that's a really interesting Todd Monkin coming in and you know, what do they do with their offensive line and they traded for Titus Howard and now they're potentially going.
- 45:12[SPEAKER_02]: They could go another offensive tackle at six, right?
- 45:15[SPEAKER_02]: They go Monroe freezing, who's like as hot of the name it offensive tackles we have right now and
- 45:21[SPEAKER_02]: I think there's a spot there.
- 45:22[SPEAKER_02]: I think there's some trade-up opportunities, whether it's Arizona coming up from 34 whatever it is.
- 45:28[SPEAKER_02]: I think there's enough there that the jets at 16.
- 45:32[SPEAKER_02]: I think there's enough they'll land in the future.
- 45:35[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 45:35[SPEAKER_01]: I also thought Colpett and look good.
- 45:37[SPEAKER_01]: I thought it was nice to see drew all that back out on the field.
- 45:39[SPEAKER_01]: But what were you, um, what was your take on the, on the tail and green workout?
- 45:44[SPEAKER_01]: To me, it was the most tail and green workout of all time.
- 45:46[SPEAKER_01]: He looks athletic as anything.
- 45:48[SPEAKER_01]: And then chucking balls all over the place, throwing balls at bounds, under throwing people.
- 45:52[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, people are going crazy for it.
- 45:54[SPEAKER_01]: But what was your taken at where you were?
- 45:56[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and especially quarterback, there's such diminishing returns, past a certain point with athleticism.
- 46:02[SPEAKER_02]: These don't really call quarterback run game like you would at the college level, right?
- 46:07[SPEAKER_02]: And we knew he was athletic, and it was just, don't count it twice.
- 46:12[SPEAKER_02]: And it felt like there was a lot of counting at twice when he worked out and he was all the eye popping numbers and 437.
- 46:18[SPEAKER_02]: And then you watched him attempt to throw forward passes.
- 46:21[SPEAKER_02]: And it's like, Oh, yeah, this is why this guy had hard time sustaining his level of play.
- 46:26[SPEAKER_02]: The tools are on the Bible.
- 46:27[SPEAKER_02]: And I think that the the rush to move him to a different position is ridiculous.
- 46:33[SPEAKER_01]: Me too.
- 46:35[SPEAKER_02]: Let him get the crack of quarterback first because you see high level moments.
- 46:40[SPEAKER_02]: and it's just putting it all together.
- 46:44[SPEAKER_02]: But you were here in like second round.
- 46:51[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 46:52[SPEAKER_02]: Third, like top 100 lock.
- 46:54[SPEAKER_02]: And like no way, it just no way with what the film was and then the throwing workout was exactly that.
- 47:01[SPEAKER_02]: And it was like, if you didn't see the testing numbers and you just watched the throwing session, what would the conversation?
- 47:09[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, he's a unadraftable, late round unadrafted for age and time, unquestionably.
- 47:15[SPEAKER_02]: Joe Milton, seventh round, like, okay, bazooka Joe, like, that's great, right?
- 47:19[SPEAKER_02]: But super rough around the edges.
- 47:22[SPEAKER_02]: Nobody's questioning is a strong arm, but the process of
- 47:26[SPEAKER_02]: And one of the, one of the folks that I had a chance to really spend some time with, I sat next to Greg Cousel.
- 47:32[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
- 47:33[SPEAKER_02]: On the flight out from Philadelphia.
- 47:35[SPEAKER_03]: Right, sir.
- 47:36[SPEAKER_02]: We sat next to each other on the flight.
- 47:38[SPEAKER_02]: We talked football the whole time.
- 47:39[SPEAKER_02]: I'd men and once before for like 10 minutes and for a Steve Clarkson event out in California.
- 47:44[SPEAKER_02]: But I sat next to him for the two to our flight.
- 47:46[SPEAKER_02]: We talked nonstop and we both got in on Sunday.
- 47:49[SPEAKER_02]: He said, what are you doing for dinner tonight?
- 47:50[SPEAKER_02]: You want to go grab some dinner?
- 47:51[SPEAKER_02]: So we went out.
- 47:52[SPEAKER_02]: We had dinner at one of the restaurants in English.
- 47:55[SPEAKER_02]: And he talked a lot about it.
- 47:56[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, he was talking about his experiences with the Bill Walsh.
- 48:01[SPEAKER_02]: He was talking about his exposures to Tom Brady and all of the talk about quarterback play
- 48:08[SPEAKER_02]: the rhythm and the timing of it.
- 48:11[SPEAKER_02]: And I get like that's kind of an art we're losing in this new age of NFL.
- 48:16[SPEAKER_02]: We're like the aliens do run the world.
- 48:19[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 48:19[SPEAKER_02]: But that part of tailing green for me is.
- 48:24[SPEAKER_02]: A lot of times, completely absent from the way that he plays the game to the point where it's it's kind of irreconcilable for me to get anywhere past.
- 48:31[SPEAKER_02]: I think if he's there in the fifth round, it's the perfect fifth round flyer quarterback to take because the tools are so good.
- 48:38[SPEAKER_02]: But anything above that, it's like I feel like you're cutting your nose off despite your face for the things that really don't matter to create a reliable starter at the NFL.
- 48:48[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I was watching Fernando Carmona, the Arkansas guard last night, I was doing guards at the moment for the draft book.
- 48:55[SPEAKER_01]: And I think it was against Penn State.
- 48:57[SPEAKER_01]: It was late so I can't remember.
- 48:58[SPEAKER_01]: I think it was against Penn State.
- 49:00[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe it wasn't.
- 49:01[SPEAKER_01]: I can't remember it was against anyway.
- 49:02[SPEAKER_01]: And he makes his throw this kind of, you know,
- 49:05[SPEAKER_01]: 25 yards layered over the top of the line back here in front of the safety with a corner kind of and a four defenders sniffing around and it's unbelievable throw And I watched you back a couple of times and you know I move forwards and saw some other stuff that was you know Obviously watching comedy, but I also trying to watch him a little bit as well just to kind of just to refresh it's been a while and I went back and watch that plane I was like wow, you know if you could
- 49:30[SPEAKER_01]: If you could bottle that, you know, that is, that's a special throw, that's a really special throw, but there's just so many times, and again, like we mentioned just there so many times at the combat where he was just, you know, he was throwing balls out of bounds and four yards over his heads and it was just, it was just wild.
- 49:48[SPEAKER_01]: And
- 49:49[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I just, um, it was, but I agree.
- 49:53[SPEAKER_01]: I do think that in that fifth six round area that you take a fly on the guy, but absolutely not in the top 100 absolutely not in the second round or some people.
- 50:02[SPEAKER_01]: We're talking about other running backs, obviously Jeremiah loves stole the show, although his dad wasn't particularly happy.
- 50:06[SPEAKER_01]: But there was some other, I thought, other good performances.
- 50:09[SPEAKER_01]: It's not Mike Washington of Arkansas, well, that's the only, and a 433, I mean, 61, 223 pounds.
- 50:15[SPEAKER_01]: 39 is vertical, 10-8 broad jump, and just this kind of profile of a dynamic, straight line electric runner, combined with these kind of top-end explosive traits, I think just demands more attention to me than he's been getting in the,
- 50:29[SPEAKER_01]: in the wider media and I've done running back a couple of weeks ago and really enjoyed his game.
- 50:34[SPEAKER_01]: I thought he was excellent as a guy that bounced around a bit, it was a defensive end in high school, but at New Mexico State chose them over UMass and perform pretty well there and then went to the SEC and
- 50:48[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I think there's just times when everything is on full speed and he maybe needs to learn to be a little bit more patient and take advantage of the blocking in front of him, but boy, can he get down there for you know, he's an angled destroyer and you know, he gets up on almost anyone in a very short distance.
- 51:05[SPEAKER_01]: I thought his tape was was decent and the workout was was phenomenal.
- 51:10[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 51:11[SPEAKER_02]: I think the biggest thing that stood out to me with the running backs after the, there's like three really strong explosive testers.
- 51:19[SPEAKER_02]: You mentioned Mike Washington, right?
- 51:21[SPEAKER_02]: But jadari and price, yeah, to me was a really interesting result from the combine because he came into 203.
- 51:32[SPEAKER_02]: And I would never have slated him to be at 200, I think that's light compared to what I was expecting with his place.
- 51:40[SPEAKER_02]: right.
- 51:43[SPEAKER_02]: And then you run a 449.
- 51:45[SPEAKER_02]: So your light to run 4.5 was surprising to me.
- 51:52[SPEAKER_02]: We didn't do the agility at a lightweight.
- 51:54[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, how many guys that we did, and I think we had four running backs that did agility is none of them were particularly good times.
- 52:00[SPEAKER_02]: Emma Johnson's the only guy who's another guy for me, that I was like, I like the fact that he competed, I think he's a really fun player on tape, but I don't think he had a single like plus test out of the result of his week because he ran four five six 35 35 with a 10 foot broad 732 like he had what two tenths of a quarter of a second slower on the three-cone drill than Sam roused it at 267 at 202
- 52:32[SPEAKER_02]: Um, those were the surprises to me, was that we got very little in the way of like participation.
- 52:40[SPEAKER_02]: And then outside of like four guys, I'm looking at the numbers and I'm like, where is the explosiveness?
- 52:47[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 52:47[SPEAKER_02]: Out of this group.
- 52:48[SPEAKER_02]: And I think that does back what my impression coming into the combine was at that position, which was, hey, we got
- 52:56[SPEAKER_02]: uh, Ferrari at the top in Jeremiah love.
- 53:00[SPEAKER_02]: And after that, it kind of reminds me of the 2013 class, where it was like these guys were all in a pissing contest to figure out who good drafted first at like 90th overall.
- 53:10[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 53:11[SPEAKER_02]: It was like the Carlos High, Jeremiah Hill, Bishop Sanky year that you just look at all of them and I'm kind of like, I don't know, man, like it's a good thing.
- 53:21[SPEAKER_02]: It's a good free agency class of running back
- 53:26[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and then goes like, Jonah Coleman, not even working out at all, it's like, you know, come on.
- 53:30[SPEAKER_01]: What, you know, I, I, I, I don't know, go back to what we said.
- 53:33[SPEAKER_01]: It was just old man Bach and it clouds, but yeah, I didn't, um, I wasn't a huge fan of, of some of those.
- 53:39[SPEAKER_01]: And then, then the receivers, I thought a number of receivers did well, I have Chris Brazil look good, you're Kobe Lane, I thought to show on Stribbling, I have Ted Hearst worked out very well.
- 53:48[SPEAKER_01]: Who did you, who do you like, will you take away from from the receiver group?
- 53:52[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, two guys that weren't really generating a lot of buzz coming in that I thought had great weeks.
- 53:59[SPEAKER_02]: Jeff called well is going to draft it just off the testing.
- 54:03[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
- 54:04[SPEAKER_02]: And the drops and the consistency are really frustrating.
- 54:08[SPEAKER_02]: I'll tell you about seeing a lot of Jeff call well while I was sitting here, hoping to bring the Brendan source.
- 54:12[SPEAKER_02]: We was going to come out in this year's draft class.
- 54:14[SPEAKER_02]: So I knew Paul well well enough from that.
- 54:16[SPEAKER_02]: I'm like, man, he's really
- 54:21[SPEAKER_02]: But you're 65 to 15 run for three won with a 42 inch vert with 32 and a half inch hand.
- 54:26[SPEAKER_02]: So your catch radius and what you do with that catch radius is you're going to make it all your hair out.
- 54:32[SPEAKER_02]: But he's going to get drafted probably what?
- 54:37[SPEAKER_02]: some time in the first half of the second or the third day like around four or five probably with just those athletic tools that exist and maybe teams will show some more restraint than I would probably applaud if they did, but he had a great testing showing and then Bryce Lance.
- 54:52[SPEAKER_02]: I never had a million years would have had Bryce Lance with a kind of an athletic number that he put on at three to four.
- 55:01[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I like Lance, I think he's a good player.
- 55:04[SPEAKER_01]: He's got a deep, I'm just trying to look at his 100 meter time.
- 55:05[SPEAKER_01]: He's got a good 100 meter time somewhere, but I can't see it in front of me.
- 55:10[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, I thought he had a, especially that size as well.
- 55:12[SPEAKER_01]: You know, big kind of, yeah.
- 55:14[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, big.
- 55:15[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, 6304 with a 434 and a 41 inch vert in 111 broad.
- 55:21[SPEAKER_02]: And then he did the 3 cone drill in 7 seconds flat.
- 55:24[SPEAKER_01]: You did, yeah.
- 55:25[SPEAKER_02]: So some great showings for him.
- 55:28[SPEAKER_01]: Absolutely.
- 55:29[SPEAKER_01]: One of the guys that I like, I mean, to me, he's my number one receiver in the class.
- 55:35[SPEAKER_01]: I wonder if you were in the McIlemon interview in terms of the podium interview, because he did come across slightly unusually in terms of answering every question, kind of like this.
- 55:47[SPEAKER_01]: And then there were some reports about him and his team meetings not going particularly well.
- 55:51[SPEAKER_01]: Did you hear anything?
- 55:52[SPEAKER_01]: Was there any kind of kind of scustled back in terms of what was happening with lemon?
- 55:56[SPEAKER_02]: I think it was just kind of the buzz on like what his personality is like because you go back and look at his other interviews he did in college is that's just how he is.
- 56:06[SPEAKER_02]: It wasn't like he did anything super crazy at the combine.
- 56:09[SPEAKER_02]: It's just on his default setting and you know, I don't know if it's unique.
- 56:16[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know that it's bad, you know, and I'm sure everybody's rushes to it's different therefore it's bad.
- 56:22[SPEAKER_02]: I wouldn't say one way or another, but it was the buzz of the day just because it was a very visibly unique presentation of himself at the combine.
- 56:35[SPEAKER_02]: But I didn't hear anything overly negative.
- 56:38[SPEAKER_02]: It's just, hey, he's kind of a unique cat and that's, that's how it is.
- 56:41[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I texted a scout with one of the, with an FC West team who was in the room when they interviewed him.
- 56:51[SPEAKER_01]: And he was like, absolutely fine.
- 56:53[SPEAKER_01]: So he's an introvert, he's like, you say, he's a different kid, but not in a bad way.
- 56:59[SPEAKER_01]: He was like, certainly not the best, certainly not the worst.
- 57:02[SPEAKER_01]: So, I kind of, I was intrigued to hear that that was a report, but yeah, we'll see how it plays out.
- 57:11[SPEAKER_01]: And then final date, offensive lineman, and to me, the standout performance came from a guy who measured in with 32 and 1-8 inch arms, but who ran the 491 explosive testing with a nice vertical or decent broad jump.
- 57:25[SPEAKER_01]: And to me Spencer Fano was just noticed to be more athletic than anybody else during the onfield drills, the speed, the ease of movement, kind of just jump to the screen.
- 57:34[SPEAKER_01]: And
- 57:35[SPEAKER_01]: just felt like a different level of athlete to pretty much everyone else that was working there was that you'll take away and who else did you, did you like?
- 57:42[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I think the movement skills have always been like the whole mark.
- 57:45[SPEAKER_02]: I think the thing that I struggled with him at times was kind of the anchor guys would kind of take him down the middle and he'd get bubbled a little bit at the point of attack sometimes on film and then you saw the length and I think he's
- 57:59[SPEAKER_02]: Above 32 is like we're thresholded like we'd be okay at tackle, but I talked to two scouts And somebody else in the media before his on-field workout that said in his movement skills I'd bet he'd be a hell of a center and then he did the center stuff After the on-field workout, and I absolutely loved it and his interview with NFL network that I saw rolled that was
- 58:23[SPEAKER_02]: I'll play anywhere, like wherever you want me to play.
- 58:27[SPEAKER_02]: And I haven't had a chance to do it yet.
- 58:29[SPEAKER_02]: But I bet if I watched him, and six, five and a half is a little tall to play inside.
- 58:35[SPEAKER_02]: But I bet he would grade out higher for me as like a really deluxe athletic center than what he would attack.
- 58:45[SPEAKER_01]: Interesting.
- 58:46[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, I just love that the work and he does, you know,
- 58:50[SPEAKER_01]: as a zone guy, driving his hips, rolling through contact, I think he's a decent, through contact attitude.
- 58:55[SPEAKER_01]: So nimble as a move, I think the range is really good.
- 58:58[SPEAKER_01]: He can kind of latch, he can turn.
- 59:00[SPEAKER_01]: And I think he's, I love how sync type he is without the smaller than my new share part.
- 59:05[SPEAKER_01]: So his game, I think the leverage, the combo blocking, I think he plays off contact really well.
- 59:09[SPEAKER_01]: He's just smart, and I think that football intelligence, the FBI screens, as you mentioned about the center in our conversation that we had a few days ago
- 59:20[SPEAKER_01]: I think that's really interesting and the height would concern me, but I just think that yeah, he absolutely, if it doesn't work out a tackle, that might be the next best thing in terms of just moving it.
- 59:31[SPEAKER_01]: And to me, he reminded me, he reminds me of fair bit of Zactorm actually, and I think, you know, there's been conversations about whether or not I know that Rob Demovsky,
- 59:42[SPEAKER_01]: Green Bay beat writers said that he had a conversation with some of it.
- 59:46[SPEAKER_01]: It might have been might have been gutty.
- 59:48[SPEAKER_01]: I can't remember who it was, but he was like, you know, he's going to play tackle for us, but he could be a pro ball guard and an all-pro center, and I think potentially I know has the same kind of the same kind of makeup, I think.
- 1:00:00[SPEAKER_02]: I think that that'll really help them with the draft process because now there's something for everybody.
- 1:00:04[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:00:05[SPEAKER_02]: If you have concerns about the tackle stuff and you're willing to project them inside its center, now every team should have some level of conversation about Spencer Fano being a top.
- 1:00:16[SPEAKER_02]: 20-pick in the class because I think you could if you're comfortable with the tackle stuff and you run a zone scheme and you're not worried about Kind of the vertical displacement and anchor consistency with guys that have speed to power.
- 1:00:27[SPEAKER_02]: They can get into his chest if you're not concerned with that He's gonna be a top 20 tackle based off the athleticism if you park and turn with that at center You mitigate a lot of those concerns and the football IQ is still there and the athleticism really gonna be a needle mover where you're getting a lot of Ace blocks and up on the linebackers on the second level where the range is that much more important
- 1:00:46[SPEAKER_02]: Any projects in my opinion is it's like a top 20 player there.
- 1:00:49[SPEAKER_02]: So a big winner for positional versatility to show the willingness in my opinion to To embrace that and it was a conversation coming in and then to see him lean into it and say yeah No problem.
- 1:01:02[SPEAKER_02]: You want me to you want to work out there and see if I can be able to appeal to you there Let's do it and I help them self in a huge way
- 1:01:10[SPEAKER_01]: be anti-Germod McCoy in regard.
- 1:01:13[SPEAKER_01]: One of the guys I just do not get in this draft, and if I know obviously and I understand the refocused on him because he's got, you know, the oldest school of old school guys with a big long red mullet is, is Jennings Dunker the the Iowa tackle who will be a guard.
- 1:01:30[SPEAKER_01]: I don't get it, but a lot of people do, but actually to give him his credit, I thought he moves, okay, I thought he looked okay in those drills.
- 1:01:38[SPEAKER_01]: What was the, because it's such a big personality, was that we get any vibes about Dunker when you were there in terms of the people that you were talking to?
- 1:01:45[SPEAKER_02]: So I had a third round rate on Dunker coming into the event.
- 1:01:49[SPEAKER_02]: And the more offensive Lyman that I'm exposed to in the rounds, the more I probably like, more than Jennings.
- 1:02:01[SPEAKER_02]: blue collars and I know I will play there they're the wide zone factory for offensive linemen at the college level going to the NFL and there they're a lot of those guys are bred for success to make that transition but he to me is much more of a
- 1:02:20[SPEAKER_02]: interior guard vertical run scheme, you know, his arms magically shrank and half an inch from the senior bolt to the combine.
- 1:02:28[SPEAKER_02]: So file that away for all the protein numbers for the arm lengths for guys that you got worries about because that one was a very visible one.
- 1:02:37[SPEAKER_02]: Just a very linear player and I think if you play him outside of a foam booth, I think you will see kind of.
- 1:02:45[SPEAKER_02]: He's got OK athleticism in a linear situation, but guys that are able to run across his face, he'll get out over top of his skis a little bit, and he's leaning, and he twists on this very narrow base that allows guys to run around him.
- 1:02:59[SPEAKER_02]: I don't see a tackle.
- 1:03:03[SPEAKER_02]: see a scheme specific guard to optimize and be the best version of himself and it was interesting because before the testing I'm thinking, hey, maybe I can land like where I landed with Tate Rattlitch last year.
- 1:03:17[SPEAKER_02]: Tate Rattlitch at great athletic testing and Jennings wasn't in that stratosphere with his, I mean, a 1-1-8-3-10 yard and a 5-2 in the
- 1:03:31[SPEAKER_02]: Well, Tate was really athletic with all of his testing.
- 1:03:34[SPEAKER_02]: So I think Dunkers probably a late day to guy for me when it's all said and done.
- 1:03:42[SPEAKER_02]: And I'd be surprised if he was not that predictively as well.
- 1:03:48[SPEAKER_02]: Like sometimes it's like, yeah, I'm just going to be lower.
- 1:03:50[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to be higher on a guy than what the league consensus is.
- 1:03:52[SPEAKER_02]: I'm like, I'm okay with that.
- 1:03:53[SPEAKER_02]: But Dunker, I expect him to ultimately predictively land 76 to 100 when it's all said and done.
- 1:04:02[SPEAKER_01]: my argument unfairly probably to him is that if he was if he was called mapsmith and he had a skinheads, he'd be a late rounder.
- 1:04:10[SPEAKER_01]: I just just don't see it on tape, but maybe that maybe that's just me.
- 1:04:14[SPEAKER_01]: I thought Brian Parker, I thought Chase Pesontis, I thought DJ Campbell, who's the Texas kid who I've liked for a while, I think they all look good who.
- 1:04:22[SPEAKER_01]: Anybody else stand out for you on the offensive line?
- 1:04:24[SPEAKER_02]: I was surprised how well Keylon Rutledge tested because I kind of saw him in the same light as like a foam booth guy, the what Dunker was, but he was better in the short area.
- 1:04:38[SPEAKER_02]: He was better with the long speed.
- 1:04:40[SPEAKER_02]: He came in at three, sixteen, so he weighed good.
- 1:04:43[SPEAKER_02]: I think he kind of helped fortify himself as like a third, fourth round guy.
- 1:04:49[SPEAKER_02]: Jalen farmer who I'm a big fan of here little little raw in some of the technique stuff but has the brute strength and the broad shoulders in the length right 34 and a quarter on the arms to go with a big broad six foot five frame running 493 and a nine foot broad
- 1:05:10[SPEAKER_02]: That stood out to me.
- 1:05:11[SPEAKER_02]: It's something that I thought I was not expecting.
- 1:05:13[SPEAKER_02]: I was maybe expecting a little bit more like road grade as compared to having that kind of vertical explosiveness to his game.
- 1:05:29[SPEAKER_02]: He had 29 on the bench, 173, 10 yards split, a 9-4 broad at 334 is really, really good.
- 1:05:38[SPEAKER_02]: And he obviously had the year this past year at left guard and before that never really had like super high volume mistakes.
- 1:05:44[SPEAKER_02]: He got playing time, but not like unquestioned starter.
- 1:05:47[SPEAKER_02]: So Morris is another one that I thought really helped himself.
- 1:05:51[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I thought it was some, yeah, he really did.
- 1:05:53[SPEAKER_01]: I thought he was, he's a very interesting player.
- 1:05:56[SPEAKER_01]: Before we get out here, you sent me a message that said, a lot of great intel last week.
- 1:06:01[SPEAKER_01]: Anything you're willing to share with the, the faithful, low-red zone listeners and viewers before we get out of here.
- 1:06:06[SPEAKER_01]: What was your, your best bit of intel that you left in the atmosphere with?
- 1:06:09[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I know where our bread is individually buttered.
- 1:06:14[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 1:06:14[SPEAKER_02]: It's with teams off the floor.
- 1:06:17[SPEAKER_02]: As I understand, the team had placed, and I'm not going to get in the specifics, more than one phone call to teams inquiring about trade value for non-starter quarterbacks with their roster.
- 1:06:31[SPEAKER_01]: Interesting.
- 1:06:32[SPEAKER_02]: And.
- 1:06:34[SPEAKER_01]: So we're talking about,
- 1:06:39[SPEAKER_02]: For example, uh, Beijing is one of those names that's in that bucket of the kinds of quarterbacks that you heard Chicago and how they talked about.
- 1:06:50[SPEAKER_02]: Tyson Bayesian, like how Ben Johnson talked about him.
- 1:06:53[SPEAKER_02]: And he was talking about him, like he was like, morning is dog.
- 1:06:56[SPEAKER_02]: Where like he was like, he was like so retrospectively, like, dang dude, he's not even gone yet.
- 1:07:02[SPEAKER_02]: But like, that's kind of how he talked about him.
- 1:07:04[SPEAKER_02]: So Bayesian would qualify as that kind of player.
- 1:07:08[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not gonna say whether or not he was one of them, but you know, I more than one team inquiring on those kinds of players.
- 1:07:16[SPEAKER_01]: Interesting.
- 1:07:17[SPEAKER_01]: I'll make sure I get his name right.
- 1:07:18[SPEAKER_01]: The next time I bring him up.
- 1:07:20[SPEAKER_01]: And if the else you want to share anything else you've got, take away free agency, take away anything kind of rumbling that you be heard that you trade stuff.
- 1:07:32[SPEAKER_02]: I would know the deal if you didn't.
- 1:07:34[SPEAKER_02]: The free agency thing, it wasn't.
- 1:07:39[SPEAKER_02]: It was a surprise to a lot of people that the cults had to do the transition tag for Daniel Jones.
- 1:07:43[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and I think Alec Pierce is going to cash in big, big way because you see some of the teams, obviously New England, reading between the T leaves on teams that were really in the market on wider severs like New England was like that, and they obviously cut stuff on digs, and they've got a bunch of cap space, but then also like,
- 1:08:02[SPEAKER_02]: the Chargers, the Titans as an AFC South rival team, and you saw the leverage yesterday, and that was like, everybody was so sure at Indy that like Pierce wasn't going to hit the market because they were going to use the franchise tag on Alec Pierce to make sure that he didn't hit the market because they knew how big that market could get.
- 1:08:23[SPEAKER_02]: And then they couldn't figure it out with Daniel Jones, so they have to pivot to the transition tag and then Pierce goes on, okay, Adams yesterday and is like, yeah, kind of at this point, ever in the right, they go out and see what it looks like and it's like, oh, like Chris bowed you better pony up like right now, I put that 20% open market tax on your offer right now, because if you let them out the door, I think that one has a chance to get really nutty.
- 1:08:45[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I did too.
- 1:08:46[SPEAKER_01]: I did too.
- 1:08:47[SPEAKER_01]: That's it.
- 1:08:48[SPEAKER_01]: Thanks for listening.
- 1:08:49[SPEAKER_01]: Thanks for watching.
- 1:08:49[SPEAKER_01]: Can't make.
- 1:08:50[SPEAKER_01]: Thanks as always some great stuff there from from Indian Apples.
