- 0:31Sean McAllister: All this and more coming up on Vegas Reveal.
- 0:36Sean McAllister: Welcome to Vegas Revealed, episode 305.
- 0:39Sean McAllister: Sean McAllister and Dana Roselli here with you.
- 0:42Sean McAllister: And uh first of all, a shout out to all of our listeners on the East Coast who are having to deal with the crappiest winter storm that's come around in a while.
- 0:52Dayna Roselli: I know, but is it?
- 0:53Dayna Roselli: Because I keep talking to friends in Rochester and they're like, I mean, the sun's out, it's a little breezy, it's freaking freezing, but we got like 13 inches of snow, and then they recall like 19, you know, 79 when we used to be able to stand and it was well over our heads.
- 1:10Sean McAllister: Well, I was talking with my mom about this because she's also back in Rochester, New York.
- 1:14Sean McAllister: Yeah, and she was like, eh, I mean, it's cold, but like you said, the sun's out, it's still flurrying a little bit, but they didn't get like the wallop of snow that other places got.
- 1:26Sean McAllister: And down south, like Nashville had like the ice storm conditions, and that really sucks.
- 1:33Sean McAllister: Because I know we both have lived through one of those bad ice storms in uh New York, but yeah, uh Nashville can get that every now and then.
- 1:41Dayna Roselli: Yeah, there are some places that aren't used to it, I guess.
- 1:43Dayna Roselli: Right automatically, East Coast, I just think like where we're from originally, but there's a lot and I know like New York City saw a lot more snow than they're used to and things like that.
- 1:53Dayna Roselli: So but yes, regardless, it's still not as pleasant as it is in Las Vegas.
- 1:58Sean McAllister: Because we woke up, woke up today in the last several days, and it's been blue skies and sun.
- 2:04Dayna Roselli: I know it's it's been nice.
- 2:05Dayna Roselli: We've had a beautiful winter.
- 2:08Dayna Roselli: Incredible.
- 2:09Dayna Roselli: Beautiful.
- 2:10Dayna Roselli: I have not really put a coat on.
- 2:13Dayna Roselli: Have you like I wear a sweatshirt or hoodie or a sweater, but I'm like, I'm just running to the car and then I'm just running in, so I don't really and I have I got this coat for my birthday in the fall um that I love, this tan long coat, and I've been so excited to wear it, and I've never really had the chance.
- 2:30Sean McAllister: No, I don't think I have really worn uh no.
- 2:34Dayna Roselli: I think yeah, I like I wore my like cream little jacket the other day that's worn, but I kind of did it more for the fashion of it instead of the and the functionality of it.
- 2:43Dayna Roselli: Yeah, so I don't know, but yes, it's been a beautiful I've been like taking, and I know you take walk walks a lot, um, but I live in a high rise, so I don't do the walks, but my friend and I have been like driving out um to different parks all the way out in West Las Vegas and doing walks on Sunday because the weather's just so darn nice.
- 3:01Sean McAllister: It is, it's has it's been great.
- 3:02Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 3:03Sean McAllister: So we're excited for this weather to continue.
- 3:06Sean McAllister: We're also excited about Lunar New Year, which is coming up here.
- 3:09Dayna Roselli: And so many people write us and ask us, like, what are the events happening?
- 3:12Dayna Roselli: But there are too many to name.
- 3:13Dayna Roselli: All our hotel casinos do things.
- 3:15Dayna Roselli: Um, you know, really the whole month of February.
- 3:19Dayna Roselli: Something we wanted to mention though, because we know you love the Bellagio Conservatory.
- 3:24Dayna Roselli: For us, living here, it seems second nature.
- 3:26Dayna Roselli: We lived here so long, we're like, oh, they're changing the display, which is always great, but people do like to know when it's changed, and they do have a lunar new year display up right now.
- 3:37Dayna Roselli: They're celebrating obviously the year of the horse, and this is at the Bellagio Conservatory through February 28th.
- 3:45Dayna Roselli: So you got about a month to get there.
- 3:47Dayna Roselli: Remember, it's always 24 hours a day, seven days a week, admission is free.
- 3:52Dayna Roselli: So it's something you can do that's always enjoyable for everyone.
- 3:55Sean McAllister: And so the the year of the snake is wrapping up right now, and that I feel like the year of the snake brought so much like crap for so many people.
- 4:06Dayna Roselli: You said crap twice in this podcast.
- 4:08Sean McAllister: Well, it's because of the year of the snake, and I'm just putting it out there.
- 4:12Sean McAllister: But we're supposed to like shed all that bad stuff, and then the year of the horse, it's a fire horse.
- 4:18Sean McAllister: So that fire horse is supposed to ride in mid-February and just bring lots of like good things and prosperity.
- 4:27Sean McAllister: So I say, welcome, fire horse into our lives.
- 4:32Dayna Roselli: Well, good.
- 4:33Dayna Roselli: Because if you go to the conservatory, you're gonna see plenty of horses, fire horses.
- 4:37Dayna Roselli: Love it.
- 4:37Dayna Roselli: No, golden horses, actually.
- 4:39Dayna Roselli: Oh uh, panda bears, along with thousands of roses and plants, also includes an animated fireworks and uh glowing lanterns, so all sorts of stuff over there for the year of the horse.
- 4:52Dayna Roselli: Um good for everyone that believes it.
- 4:55Sean McAllister: I believe it.
- 4:56Sean McAllister: I am a believer.
- 4:57Sean McAllister: I am not because I want that prosperity and goodness and all the things that come with that horse.
- 5:03Dayna Roselli: I always feel like it's just another day.
- 5:05Dayna Roselli: We'll see what tomorrow brings.
- 5:06Sean McAllister: You know what else I hope that the horse brings is more Canadian visitors.
- 5:10Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 5:10Sean McAllister: Because we have seen this uh trend ever since uh there have been tariffs going into effect.
- 5:16Sean McAllister: There's been a lot of political stuff going on that have that's kind of kept our Canadian friends and visitors away.
- 5:24Sean McAllister: Canadian uh tourism traffic is down uh by at least a third by at least 30 percent.
- 5:32Sean McAllister: So uh that is something that we are really missing here in Las Vegas right now.
- 5:37Sean McAllister: And I just want to say we have a lot of uh Canadian listeners and we miss you here.
- 5:42Dayna Roselli: We do.
- 5:43Dayna Roselli: We have a lot of friends here in Las Vegas from Canada, right?
- 5:48Dayna Roselli: A lot of our friends that I know that either you know got their citizenship in the the US or originally from Canada or still Canadian, are Canadian and going back and forth.
- 5:57Dayna Roselli: So um anyway, uh also wanted to mention, I know you just said uh it's down a third.
- 6:02Dayna Roselli: We also went to the State of the Wedding Capital, the world event where we got statistics for how last year looked wedding-wise, and one of the biggest drops was Canada.
- 6:15Dayna Roselli: 33 day uh third 33% wedding marriage licenses were down from Canadians coming here to Las Vegas to get married.
- 6:23Dayna Roselli: So it's definitely right there, and one of our biggest drops.
- 6:27Dayna Roselli: Um we can get all into that.
- 6:29Dayna Roselli: We're gonna do an update on all that wedding info probably in our next podcast, closer to Valentine's Day.
- 6:34Sean McAllister: Yeah, but uh we're talking about Canadians because uh there's a few casinos in downtown Las Vegas that are trying to entice our Canadian visitors back to Las Vegas by matching the Canadian dollar uh equally, yeah, making it on par with the US dollar so that you don't have to deal with the conversion rate.
- 6:56Sean McAllister: You don't need to deal with spending more because we know that everybody in America is even spending more to get what used to cost less, and you know, with a Canadian dollar you have to spend even more on top of that.
- 7:10Sean McAllister: So uh the circa, the D, and Golden Gate in downtown Las Vegas, they are matching the Canadian dollar when you come and stay, play, whatever.
- 7:22Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 7:23Dayna Roselli: They're calling it at par.
- 7:25Dayna Roselli: It's uh new at par commitment, they're calling it through August 31st.
- 7:31Dayna Roselli: So for a long time.
- 7:32Dayna Roselli: We've talked about Derek Stevens many times.
- 7:34Dayna Roselli: Derek Stevens is the owner of all those casinos, so this is kind of his deal.
- 7:40Dayna Roselli: And he uh talked about how he's missing the Canadians, and so this initiative gives all Canadian travelers and locals too an immediate financial advantage, eliminating conversion stress and reinforcing downtown Las Vegas as a guest first destination built on value, accessibility, and fairness.
- 8:02Dayna Roselli: And he even said, Hey, if you don't want to stay here and you want to come like I'm just come to Vegas.
- 8:08Sean McAllister: Right, exactly.
- 8:09Sean McAllister: So if you are uh one of our Canadian listeners and this sounds like something you want to take advantage of, or if you do take advantage of it and come here, let us know, please.
- 8:19Sean McAllister: There's a link down in our show notes where you can send us a text message.
- 8:24Sean McAllister: Um, let us know your thoughts on this program and if if this will entice you to come to Las Vegas.
- 8:31Sean McAllister: I'm I'm interested to know, genuinely.
- 8:34Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 8:34Dayna Roselli: I know.
- 8:35Dayna Roselli: I I I hope so.
- 8:36Dayna Roselli: I think it's a good deal.
- 8:38Dayna Roselli: You know, they're basically like you receive one dollar US in value for every one dollar Canadian spent, regardless of daily exchange rates.
- 8:48Dayna Roselli: So come enjoy.
- 8:51Dayna Roselli: Vegas is all about fun, entertainment, all the things we got going.
- 8:55Dayna Roselli: So we'll see if it makes a difference.
- 8:57Dayna Roselli: I will be interested to hear the results of that.
- 8:59Dayna Roselli: If they're seeing more Canadians over there at these properties.
- 9:01Sean McAllister: Yeah, I mean, I think it's a great idea.
- 9:03Sean McAllister: So I hope that there it does gain some traction and that uh we see some good results uh stemming from this.
- 9:12Dayna Roselli: There's a lot of deals right now, just regardless, uh Canada aside, uh because uh we need to bring more people here to Vegas to enjoy it, everything we have going on.
- 9:22Dayna Roselli: I mean, we seem to do pretty well because it's pretty busy all the time, but now's the time, definitely, if you're looking for a deal.
- 9:29Sean McAllister: Yeah, that's for sure.
- 9:30Sean McAllister: Uh and just talking about uh value and where you can find that in Las Vegas, we stopped over to the Rio recently and uh talked to the president and CEO.
- 9:40Dayna Roselli: Yeah, Patrick Miller is actually a Vegas native, and he's been there almost two years now over at the Rio.
- 9:48Dayna Roselli: And you know, we've talked in the past about how they're constantly doing renovations and trying to bring that property back to life.
- 9:56Dayna Roselli: So we hadn't actually interviewed him before, and we said, Hey, can we chat?
- 10:00Dayna Roselli: And he said, Yep.
- 10:01Dayna Roselli: And so we talked to Patrick Miller and got all the updates on what they got going on over there at the Rio.
- 10:08SPEAKER_00: People remember what Rio was about when it opened.
- 10:11SPEAKER_00: And so the reason why I love that interest is we're bringing it back to life.
- 10:15SPEAKER_00: A lot of reinvestment, you know, new rooms, a new casino floor, new restaurants.
- 10:20SPEAKER_00: That's what that's what's exciting to bring Rio back to life.
- 10:23Dayna Roselli: And you guys have made a lot of progress.
- 10:24Dayna Roselli: What's the next phase gonna look like?
- 10:26SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 10:26SPEAKER_00: So what I mean, the the progress is it's it's really evolving.
- 10:30SPEAKER_00: So we've we opened up this last year, we opened up two new shows here at the Rio, as well as three new restaurants, and that was in 2025, 2026.
- 10:37SPEAKER_00: It's got maybe not as many shows, but definitely some new restaurants on the docket.
- 10:42Dayna Roselli: What's the feedback been like from people who actually stay here?
- 10:44SPEAKER_00: Yeah, well, first of all, they walk in the front door and like, oh my gosh, it's brighter, it's clean, it's exciting again.
- 10:50SPEAKER_00: So I love seeing that guest that knows the old Rio and comes back and just witnesses it because I love it.
- 10:57SPEAKER_00: So the feedback's been phenomenal for that.
- 10:59SPEAKER_00: I think the locals are loving, they forgot what it was like to how difficult it was to get in and out of the strip.
- 11:05SPEAKER_00: And now that we're relevant, it's great to be here.
- 11:08SPEAKER_00: We're ease of access and free parking, make this a property that appeals to locals as well.
- 11:13Dayna Roselli: And what about the other section of the Rio?
- 11:16Dayna Roselli: Like when I came in from the back parking garage.
- 11:17Dayna Roselli: Is there something gonna be done there or is it part of it in the future?
- 11:21SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so the the the what was known as the the former masquerade village, where when you think about showing the sky and all the great things people remember.
- 11:28SPEAKER_00: Uh, right now we're that's kind of phase two for the property, so we've got to evaluate that tower and ultimately all that public space there.
- 11:35SPEAKER_00: And that's part of that master plan of going, okay, what about let's go in there?
- 11:39SPEAKER_00: What is the right anchor tenant?
- 11:40SPEAKER_00: You know, we put Empire Strips back there, which is great in one side, but now we're starting to fill in other components and talk to partners of what the future of Rio would be there.
- 11:50SPEAKER_00: So right now it's really the it's a large non-smoking casino area.
- 11:54SPEAKER_00: Rio has it feels like two casinos.
- 11:56SPEAKER_00: We've got the main casinos, you walk in the front door, and then that casino, which operates as a non-smoking outlet.
- 12:02Dayna Roselli: Like I knew that.
- 12:03Dayna Roselli: That's cool.
- 12:03Dayna Roselli: When did you implement that?
- 12:04SPEAKER_00: Yeah, we did just in the last probably uh two months, we kind of converted that, put all the slots in there, and made it one of the larger non-smoking areas in the whole strip.
- 12:17SPEAKER_00: I think people are are realizing that, okay, there is value in Las Vegas.
- 12:23SPEAKER_00: How do I come in?
- 12:24SPEAKER_00: But Vegas stopped being fun and energetic.
- 12:27SPEAKER_00: And so whether it's live music in our lounges, like right behind us here, you've got to have things that are going on where people go in and just walking around, and there's a little bit of that surprise and delight that was lost in Vegas.
- 12:39SPEAKER_00: And so we're got elements, and I think the consumer wants that is like, oh, I didn't know they did that over there.
- 12:44SPEAKER_00: I didn't know that, whether it's a live band over at our Rio event stage or a free big game party for the big game coming up.
- 12:52SPEAKER_00: Those are the things that people don't expect, and when they see it, they go, oh my gosh, that's what I want.
- 12:57SPEAKER_00: Vegas is cyclical.
- 12:58SPEAKER_00: We continually see groups wanting to be here.
- 13:01SPEAKER_00: I think what Rio offers and maybe other places on the trip is how do you still provide the fun of Las Vegas?
- 13:08SPEAKER_00: I think people still, no matter where you are, no matter what economic means, people want to come in and know they're getting something and for their dollar that they spend.
- 13:17SPEAKER_00: And what's great about being in a place like Rio that isn't part of a big corporation is we can think like that and we can price like that and have elements where it's not just easy to get into, but it's easy on you and the financial burden of what it is.
- 13:30SPEAKER_00: The rooms are reasonably priced, the food and beverages reasonably priced, and you're gonna have a biggest fun experience.
- 13:38Dayna Roselli: And he said 1500 of the rooms have been redone.
- 13:41Dayna Roselli: You can go on, I guess when you book, you can actually see if you're getting a renovated room or a non-renovated room.
- 13:48Dayna Roselli: The non-renovated rooms will be renovated eventually.
- 13:51Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 13:51Dayna Roselli: But for now, I guess they are selling those uh at for a cheaper price.
- 13:56Dayna Roselli: So you'll see a little bit of a price difference.
- 13:58Sean McAllister: Which is good.
- 13:58Sean McAllister: I like the transparency there.
- 14:00Sean McAllister: I like that they're not pricing them the same.
- 14:02Dayna Roselli: Exactly.
- 14:03Dayna Roselli: Hey, um, I don't know if we talked last week.
- 14:05Dayna Roselli: Speaking of, uh, Patrick did mention uh, you know, just a big congratulations to Penn and Teller, who've been at the Rio for a very long time.
- 14:12Dayna Roselli: 25 years they just celebrated at the Rio, but like 50 years in the entertainment business.
- 14:17Dayna Roselli: Did we mention last week about their shows being canceled just in the immediate because Penn?
- 14:25Sean McAllister: Penn, I believe he broke his foot.
- 14:27Dayna Roselli: Broke his foot or something like that.
- 14:28Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 14:29Sean McAllister: So he's recovering right now, and obviously, yeah, I think we did mention it.
- 14:33Dayna Roselli: I think we did too.
- 14:34Dayna Roselli: Didn't we?
- 14:35Dayna Roselli: I get so confused.
- 14:35Dayna Roselli: We talk about this all the time.
- 14:36Dayna Roselli: We shoot TV shows, audio podcasts, we shoot them a few days ahead.
- 14:40Dayna Roselli: Sometimes the TV shows a week ahead.
- 14:42Dayna Roselli: And I'm like, where did we talk about this?
- 14:44Dayna Roselli: Were we just having a conversation at our desk?
- 14:47Sean McAllister: Between ourselves, or did it make it somewhere?
- 14:49Dayna Roselli: Anyway, I guess worth reiterating if you had tickets to Penn and Teller, uh, they're on a little tiny hiatus while Penn recovers.
- 14:56Sean McAllister: Yes, and hopefully he'll be back on stage uh pretty quick.
- 15:00Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 15:00Sean McAllister: Maybe on one of those knee scooters.
- 15:03Dayna Roselli: Maybe true.
- 15:05Dayna Roselli: Oh my gosh.
- 15:06Dayna Roselli: Well, listen, Super Bowl is coming up.
- 15:07Dayna Roselli: What, February 8th?
- 15:09Dayna Roselli: We have the teams in the Super Bowl.
- 15:11Sean McAllister: Yeah, we've got the Seattle Seahawks taking on the New England Patriots.
- 15:15Dayna Roselli: I kind of like it, changing it up.
- 15:16Dayna Roselli: I mean, I know the Patriots have been in the Super Bowl many, many times and won.
- 15:19Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 15:20Dayna Roselli: But I still feel like it's been a little while, and I like seeing the Seattle Seahawks in the Super Bowl.
- 15:26Dayna Roselli: Good for them.
- 15:26Dayna Roselli: I know.
- 15:26Sean McAllister: I I I think this is gonna be a good matchup.
- 15:28Sean McAllister: It'll be a good game.
- 15:29Sean McAllister: The the uh playoff games were great.
- 15:33Dayna Roselli: Mm-hmm.
- 15:33Dayna Roselli: I know.
- 15:34Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 15:34Dayna Roselli: So I mean, uh uh I'm excited about this.
- 15:37Dayna Roselli: I think I think it's gonna be fun.
- 15:38Dayna Roselli: So the Super Bowl is February 8th.
- 15:40Dayna Roselli: A lot of people come to Las Vegas.
- 15:42Dayna Roselli: Doesn't matter that we don't have the Super Bowl, we're not hosting it.
- 15:45Dayna Roselli: The people come here regardless all the time because we have some of the best parties anywhere.
- 15:52Sean McAllister: We do, and we're just gonna give you a quick snapshot of what you can expect if you're coming to town uh to watch the big game.
- 16:01Sean McAllister: Starting at Top Golf, they're doing a watch party over there.
- 16:06Sean McAllister: Uh they've got a 48-foot video wall out in the in the yard there.
- 16:12Sean McAllister: That's their big viewing area.
- 16:14Sean McAllister: Uh seating begins at 2 30 and the game starts at 3 30 Las Vegas time.
- 16:20Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 16:21Dayna Roselli: Yeah, and as Sean said, this is a snapshot.
- 16:23Dayna Roselli: There are endless Super Bowl watch parties in Las Vegas.
- 16:28Dayna Roselli: Endless.
- 16:28Dayna Roselli: We're trying to do a little variety around the strip.
- 16:31Dayna Roselli: Um, also, the Blue Live Theater at Fountain Blue is again hosting a big game viewing party.
- 16:38Dayna Roselli: This is presented by the Hall of Excellence.
- 16:40Dayna Roselli: Doors at two o'clock, Sunday, February 8th.
- 16:43Dayna Roselli: Everything's gonna be on February 8th.
- 16:45Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 16:45Sean McAllister: Uh also at Fountain Blue the Tavern, that's their uh sports book and sports bar.
- 16:51Sean McAllister: Uh they'll be having a viewing party.
- 16:54Sean McAllister: They have premium and VIP seating available over there.
- 16:58Dayna Roselli: Yeah, and they've got a 180-degree LED video wall over there in the sportsbook lounge.
- 17:02Dayna Roselli: So it'll be good viewing action.
- 17:04Dayna Roselli: Also, live Las Vegas is doing something, and I love that.
- 17:08Dayna Roselli: They're opening up the clubs, right, for Super Bowl Sunday.
- 17:11Dayna Roselli: So uh doors open there at two o'clock if you want to go over to Live at Fountain Blue, FYI.
- 17:17Dayna Roselli: Also, they're doing like obviously um you know their normal nightclub stuff on the weekends.
- 17:22Dayna Roselli: They've got some special things going on Friday, February 6th.
- 17:25Dayna Roselli: It's Metro Boomin, and then of course, John Summit is back February 7th.
- 17:30Dayna Roselli: So they've got a whole weekend planned of some top DJs happening at Live.
- 17:36Dayna Roselli: Could be a fun one over there.
- 17:37Sean McAllister: And then over at Area 15, uh, one of the uh attractions over there is called Illuminarium.
- 17:44Sean McAllister: Um, we've talked about it here on the podcast before, but they're doing uh a big game watch party as well from 3 to 6 p.m.
- 17:53Sean McAllister: And this is a 360-degree uh immersive experience really because they project the uh game up on the uh on the walls, but then it feels like you're kind of on the field as well.
- 18:09Sean McAllister: It's really cool what they do over there.
- 18:11Sean McAllister: Um they have VIP seating, it's 150 bucks, includes a buffet along with uh upfront viewing.
- 18:20Dayna Roselli: Great, yeah, that's a good deal, right?
- 18:21Dayna Roselli: Yeah, hey Resorts World, uh speaking of nightclubs, we mentioned Live, Zook Nightclub is doing uh big game watch party as well.
- 18:29Dayna Roselli: So FYI uh event open to guests 21 and over, but doors open over there at one o'clock with some live entertainment as well by DJ Flight.
- 18:40Sean McAllister: And then over at Fashion Show Las Vegas, that's the big mall that sits right across the street from uh Wyn Las Vegas, right on the strip, right at the corner there, there's a place called Happy Camper.
- 18:52Dayna Roselli: It's so cute, super cute.
- 18:53Sean McAllister: There's disco balls, kind of an indoor-outdoor vibe.
- 18:56Sean McAllister: Right.
- 18:56Sean McAllister: Uh they got tons of screens.
- 18:58Sean McAllister: They're doing an all-you-can-eat buffet package with open bar uh from 3 p.m.
- 19:04Sean McAllister: until the end of the third quarter.
- 19:06Sean McAllister: That's$175 a person.
- 19:08Dayna Roselli: Okay, not bad.
- 19:09Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 19:09Dayna Roselli: Seating begins at 2 30.
- 19:11Dayna Roselli: And Sean, I was looking at the menu of items on the all you can eat, and I like what they name things.
- 19:16Dayna Roselli: Oh, what did that?
- 19:17Dayna Roselli: They've got the jalapeno homies, the little happy sliders.
- 19:23Dayna Roselli: I know.
- 19:23Dayna Roselli: And then they have normal stuff like wings, chicken nachos, pizzas, desserts, all that kind of thing.
- 19:28Dayna Roselli: But um, I bet they have a cute menu over there.
- 19:30Dayna Roselli: I've actually never eaten there.
- 19:32Dayna Roselli: I I meant to go there one time and it was summer, and I didn't feel like sitting, it was really hot out.
- 19:38Dayna Roselli: I was like, all right, I don't know if I could sit down and eat in the heat.
- 19:41Dayna Roselli: Um, but I always mean to.
- 19:43Dayna Roselli: It's so adorable, and people say the food's really good.
- 19:46Sean McAllister: It was it's a cute spot, and people have so much fun in there.
- 19:49Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 19:50Sean McAllister: So there's like they have uh like beer pong going in on in there.
- 19:54Sean McAllister: So it's like a festive atmosphere.
- 19:57Dayna Roselli: Exactly.
- 19:58Dayna Roselli: Like if you were camping with your friends, yes, pulling the RV in.
- 20:02Sean McAllister: That's right.
- 20:02Dayna Roselli: Oh, that sounds fun.
- 20:04Dayna Roselli: So there's a good variety for you, tons more, endless, right?
- 20:08Dayna Roselli: But you know, we've got little happy camper, some nightclub action, some sportsbook stuff, uh, you know, fountain blue theater, and then also, you know, top golf.
- 20:17Dayna Roselli: And as we said, just Google and look around.
- 20:20Dayna Roselli: There's so many parties, and we do have such great spots with so many LED screens and TVs.
- 20:26Dayna Roselli: So it depends what kind of experience you want.
- 20:28Sean McAllister: Yeah, it really does.
- 20:29Dayna Roselli: I always think like if you're really, really into the game, like it's very important to you on who's like this game is or if you're just there for the vibe and the spirit of the Super Bowl.
- 20:40Dayna Roselli: Kind of depends on where you pick to watch it, don't you think?
- 20:42Sean McAllister: It it does.
- 20:44Sean McAllister: And if you're going to specifically watch for the halftime show and the commercials, like you need to keep that in mind too, because you don't always necessarily hear them if you're at some of these parties.
- 20:58Sean McAllister: True.
- 20:59Sean McAllister: Because when the game turns off, sometimes the DJ music comes on, sometimes uh a live in-room uh announcer will come on to have like activities going on for people who are there in the room.
- 21:11Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 21:12Sean McAllister: Um, but like the commercials and and halftime are part of the draw too.
- 21:18Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 21:19Dayna Roselli: I mean, totally, and that's a thing.
- 21:20Dayna Roselli: When you can't hear the commercials, and if that's your thing, it's frustrating, or everyone starts talking.
- 21:25Sean McAllister: Right.
- 21:26Dayna Roselli: Or you're at a big party and it's like a big vibe, you know?
- 21:29Dayna Roselli: Like you so it does matter.
- 21:31Dayna Roselli: It's very important to pick your Super Bowl spot.
- 21:34Sean McAllister: You have lots of stuff to think through.
- 21:35Dayna Roselli: And I listen, I know, I don't even know if it is it so controversial that Bad Bunny's doing the halftime show.
- 21:42Dayna Roselli: Cause I don't know.
- 21:42Dayna Roselli: I'm I don't sit around and listen to Bad Bunny music all the time, but whenever I hear it, I'm like, this is a jam, and I'm kind of excited to see what Bad Bunny does.
- 21:51Sean McAllister: Yeah, I'm excited too.
- 21:52Sean McAllister: I think it's gonna be great.
- 21:53Dayna Roselli: It's gonna be fun.
- 21:54Dayna Roselli: I and we need fun.
- 21:56Sean McAllister: We do need fun.
- 21:57Dayna Roselli: Yeah, and he did a little teaser and he said people are.
- 22:00Dayna Roselli: Around the world are gonna dance.
- 22:01Dayna Roselli: And so, and he showed different types, he was dancing with a bunch of different types of people and characters and old, young.
- 22:08Dayna Roselli: So I I think it'll be good.
- 22:10Dayna Roselli: Look forward to that.
- 22:11Dayna Roselli: Um, something else that we had mentioned in a previous podcast that we were looking forward to once we heard about it was the International Fireworks Championship.
- 22:18Dayna Roselli: And we said we're gonna get someone on the line and talk to someone about this because it's the first time in Vegas.
- 22:23Sean McAllister: Yeah, it's coming up on February 21st up at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
- 22:28Sean McAllister: Um, Bruce Tyree is the CEO of Blast Events.
- 22:33Sean McAllister: That's the company that's uh putting on the fireworks championship.
- 22:37Sean McAllister: And we talked to him about what to expect from this inaugural championship here in Vegas.
- 22:42SPEAKER_02: Hey, Sean, thanks for having me.
- 22:43SPEAKER_02: I appreciate it.
- 22:44SPEAKER_02: Explain what this competition is and who takes part.
- 22:48SPEAKER_02: I have uh competed in many events uh internationally, uh Europe, um, Asia, and I always wondered why don't we have something like this in the US?
- 23:00SPEAKER_02: So when I retired from my fireworks display company, I thought, you know, I think this is time, you know, to give this a try.
- 23:08SPEAKER_02: What we do is look at all these other great competitions that are held around the world.
- 23:13SPEAKER_02: Our goal and our aim is to bring the best and brightest and most entertaining fireworks uh presentations that there are in the world.
- 23:23Sean McAllister: You're bringing this uh championship to Las Vegas for the first time.
- 23:26Sean McAllister: How did this all come to be?
- 23:28SPEAKER_02: We started in Traverse City, Michigan, um a nice resort town in northern Michigan.
- 23:32SPEAKER_02: You know, if we need to want to take this somewhere where it can really grow, what better place than Las Vegas, right?
- 23:38Sean McAllister: And there's even going to be a world record attempt uh happening this year, right?
- 23:44SPEAKER_02: There is, you're right.
- 23:46SPEAKER_02: Um yeah, uh fireworks mogul uh Ricardo Cavier, who is well renowned in the fireworks industry and very famous in Spain, he is coming to do a world record daytime fireworks display.
- 24:00SPEAKER_02: We're also trying to set a world record with the largest American flag with pyro drones, and these are also daytime.
- 24:07SPEAKER_02: That would be a daytime event as well.
- 24:09SPEAKER_02: So these are all just events leading up to it getting dark and you know the main event starting.
- 24:16Sean McAllister: Have you used drones in the uh championship in years past, or is that a new addition?
- 24:22Sean McAllister: We haven't.
- 24:22Sean McAllister: This is a new edition here for Las Vegas.
- 24:25Sean McAllister: Do you hope that this grows into a long-term partnership with the city?
- 24:29SPEAKER_02: Yeah, for sure.
- 24:30SPEAKER_02: For sure.
- 24:30SPEAKER_02: We're hoping that uh this can be an annual event for us and we can grow it into something even bigger and better and keep adding more events to uh the main event, you know, as we move forward.
- 24:42SPEAKER_02: You know, what I look forward to is just seeing all the family come out and seeing those crowds of people uh see this event and just really enjoy themselves.
- 24:51SPEAKER_02: I mean, that's that's what it really all comes down to, and and that's what we're looking to do.
- 24:54SPEAKER_02: And what does the winner get?
- 24:57SPEAKER_02: The winner gets a trophy and he gets to say that I won the international fireworks championship in Las Vegas.
- 25:05SPEAKER_02: That's right, in Las Vegas.
- 25:07Sean McAllister: So that's right.
- 25:08Sean McAllister: You get the title of International Fireworks Champion for the first time in Las Vegas.
- 25:14Dayna Roselli: That's cool.
- 25:15Dayna Roselli: And I love that he talked about daylight fireworks, yeah, ground fire.
- 25:19Dayna Roselli: It's gonna be like a big variety of different kinds.
- 25:21Sean McAllister: Right.
- 25:22Dayna Roselli: And it does seem like it's gonna be a blast.
- 25:25Dayna Roselli: A blast! Oh my goodness.
- 25:30Dayna Roselli: Fingers crossed for good weather and everything cooperates on February 21st.
- 25:35Sean McAllister: That's right.
- 25:36Sean McAllister: But there will be uh there's food available, there's entertainment out there all day and into the evening.
- 25:42Sean McAllister: Uh, and there's also uh fan voting.
- 25:45Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 25:45Sean McAllister: So you can vote on the different uh fireworks displays that you see as part of the championship as well.
- 25:52Sean McAllister: You can go to fireworkschampionship.com to check out the different uh ticket packages that they've got available.
- 26:00Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 26:00Dayna Roselli: Hey, a couple things uh coming up that we're gonna be doing.
- 26:03Dayna Roselli: Um, well, Mark Anthony is kicking off his residency at Fountain Blue, FYI, and it looks good.
- 26:08Dayna Roselli: He put a teaser video up, and it looks very Mark Anthony.
- 26:13Dayna Roselli: I love it, and he's dressed to the nines and walking through the halls of the Fountain Blue.
- 26:16Dayna Roselli: It looks good.
- 26:17Sean McAllister: Well, and uh what's kind of cool about his residency is that Mark Anthony will be doing uh his hits in English and in Spanish.
- 26:25Dayna Roselli: Love that.
- 26:26Dayna Roselli: That's gonna be great.
- 26:27Sean McAllister: It is, and it just makes so much sense for his career.
- 26:30Dayna Roselli: So and that kicks off February 13th, I think.
- 26:33Dayna Roselli: Uh so that's a Friday.
- 26:35Dayna Roselli: So yeah, that should be good.
- 26:37Dayna Roselli: Um, and I feel like is it Mark's first residency?
- 26:40Dayna Roselli: I mean, I know he's performed here.
- 26:42Sean McAllister: I believe it is his first residency.
- 26:45Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 26:46Sean McAllister: Which is kind of hard to believe.
- 26:48Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 26:48Dayna Roselli: So we'll look forward to seeing what he he does with that theater.
- 26:51Dayna Roselli: It's uh it's a great theater there over at the Fountain Blue.
- 26:54Dayna Roselli: We're also going to the um grand opening of Hearthstone at Red Rock.
- 26:57Dayna Roselli: Now, this is a restaurant that was here in Las Vegas at Red Rock for many, many years, and it was a hot spot.
- 27:03Dayna Roselli: Then it closed, and now they are bringing it back to life and it's reopening again.
- 27:07Dayna Roselli: You and I are gonna go to the grand opening party the night before it officially opens.
- 27:11Dayna Roselli: Um, actually, the day this podcast drops, we're going that night.
- 27:15Sean McAllister: And I'm excited for this.
- 27:17Sean McAllister: It was such a favorite for uh with Las Vegas locals.
- 27:21Sean McAllister: Like everybody would go to brunch there.
- 27:23Sean McAllister: It was a great dinner spot.
- 27:25Sean McAllister: It was just a really it was a really fun place where you would always run into people.
- 27:31Dayna Roselli: Always.
- 27:32Dayna Roselli: Yeah, I would go there for brunch a lot, and it would, I would always run it.
- 27:35Dayna Roselli: I think I would always run into Carrot Top there.
- 27:39Dayna Roselli: So I mean, you never know who you're gonna see.
- 27:42Dayna Roselli: That is true.
- 27:42Dayna Roselli: Um, so yeah, we look forward to uh seeing that and welcome back to Las Vegas.
- 27:48Dayna Roselli: Red Rock doing well over there, always opening new stuff, and and they keep moving along.
- 27:53Dayna Roselli: Um, I wanted to mention, I was getting my haircut the other day, and my hairdresser was telling me she does a lot of like hair and makeup stuff for folks that stay at the four seasons.
- 28:02Dayna Roselli: Uh, if someone comes in for a wedding or someone wants to get their hair blown out for the week, they're here for meetings or business or whatever.
- 28:08Dayna Roselli: And I thought it was interesting.
- 28:09Dayna Roselli: She was mentioning to me that she always asks people, like, Oh, why are you staying at the Four Seasons?
- 28:14Dayna Roselli: Four Seasons, by the way, is attached to Mandalay Bay.
- 28:17Sean McAllister: Right.
- 28:17Dayna Roselli: But it's its own separate entity.
- 28:19Sean McAllister: Yes.
- 28:20Dayna Roselli: But uh, they have no casino in, but but it's easy to access the hotel casino at Mandalay Bay.
- 28:26Sean McAllister: It's all connected.
- 28:27Sean McAllister: Yes.
- 28:28Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 28:28Dayna Roselli: But um, she said, Why do you she always thinks like people are gonna say, oh, because there's no casino or because it's the location.
- 28:34Dayna Roselli: You know, why did you choose four seasons?
- 28:36Dayna Roselli: She was just always asking.
- 28:37Dayna Roselli: And she said that the number one thing that ever like almost everyone says is because we get free water.
- 28:43Dayna Roselli: Isn't that interesting?
- 28:45Sean McAllister: Well, I'll tell you what.
- 28:46Sean McAllister: I mean, the four seasons is known for its customer service, yeah, and for going above and beyond for its customers.
- 28:53Sean McAllister: It's like the answer is always yes.
- 28:55unknown: Yeah, I know.
- 28:57Dayna Roselli: Well, uh, apparently you get free bottled water, and a lot of people that come in and stay at the four seasons.
- 29:02Dayna Roselli: And she said it's not even obviously people who stay there have a decent amount of money, uh, but it's the principle.
- 29:10Dayna Roselli: When they want their bottles of water, they want them to be free.
- 29:13Dayna Roselli: And so I thought that was so interesting.
- 29:15Dayna Roselli: I tried to look on the website, but obviously you can't find like, you know, four seasons has free water, it's just part of when you stay there.
- 29:21SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 29:21Dayna Roselli: Uh so apparently they have free water.
- 29:23Dayna Roselli: So I thought I would just bring that up and let people know.
- 29:26Dayna Roselli: Um, make sure if you call and book there, you ask if that's very important to you, because I cannot confirm.
- 29:32Dayna Roselli: But she was saying everyone always talks about the free water.
- 29:34Dayna Roselli: And I thought that was that was interesting.
- 29:36Dayna Roselli: I mean, that's something that, you know, doesn't happen often.
- 29:38Dayna Roselli: And also that something else that doesn't happen often is coffee, like coffee, um, not pots, you Keurigs and stuff in the rooms.
- 29:46Dayna Roselli: Oh, yeah, right.
- 29:46Dayna Roselli: You usually have to go downstairs and order because they want you to walk through the casino and maybe you'll hit a slot machine on the way to get your coffee and all that kind of thing.
- 29:53Dayna Roselli: So I don't know which rooms have that or don't.
- 29:55Dayna Roselli: Oh, I was gonna mention that I went to habitat burger.
- 29:57Dayna Roselli: Am I saying it right?
- 29:58Dayna Roselli: Is it habit burger?
- 29:59Dayna Roselli: Maybe.
- 30:02Dayna Roselli: Oh yeah, it wasn't habitat.
- 30:05Dayna Roselli: We weren't going to like Siegfried and Roy's secret garden habitat.
- 30:12Dayna Roselli: I just thought habit burger.
- 30:14Sean McAllister: Habit burger.
- 30:15Dayna Roselli: I'll make it a habit to call it the right thing.
- 30:17Dayna Roselli: Never been, always drive by.
- 30:20Dayna Roselli: Let me tell you, I was with my friend and she was like, I had this burger because we hadn't eaten all day.
- 30:25Dayna Roselli: We went on this walk, we're out running errands, and like it's really clean and it's just it was good.
- 30:30Dayna Roselli: So anyway, we went in there, delicious.
- 30:33Dayna Roselli: Pickles on the burger.
- 30:35Dayna Roselli: Love that.
- 30:36Dayna Roselli: I love a good burger, but not greasy.
- 30:40Dayna Roselli: It just felt, I know it's weird, it felt like a healthy burger, fresh because it took a little bit.
- 30:46Dayna Roselli: Um, but it was just so good.
- 30:49Dayna Roselli: Um, I really recommend it.
- 30:51Dayna Roselli: I was very impressed with habit burger.
- 30:54Sean McAllister: Were you impressed by the habitat?
- 30:56Sean McAllister: Habitat.
- 30:56Sean McAllister: Habit burger.
- 30:58Dayna Roselli: You know what I also don't like?
- 31:00Dayna Roselli: They had the option of ordering on the screen.
- 31:02Dayna Roselli: I like the person.
- 31:02Dayna Roselli: So I waited for the person.
- 31:04Dayna Roselli: Oh, yeah.
- 31:04Dayna Roselli: I like to tell them, like, know this, add that.
- 31:06Dayna Roselli: You know what I mean?
- 31:07Dayna Roselli: I don't know about all these automatic ordering things.
- 31:10Dayna Roselli: And then they want tip.
- 31:11Dayna Roselli: It's like, well, why?
- 31:12Dayna Roselli: I want a person.
- 31:13Sean McAllister: Yeah, no, machines don't get tips.
- 31:15Sean McAllister: Are you kidding me?
- 31:16Sean McAllister: Yeah, I know.
- 31:17Sean McAllister: It's ridiculous.
- 31:18Dayna Roselli: So anyway, no.
- 31:19Dayna Roselli: Yes.
- 31:20Dayna Roselli: I think there are several locations in town.
- 31:22Dayna Roselli: Did you look it up?
- 31:23Sean McAllister: Uh, there's three locations.
- 31:24Dayna Roselli: Uh I went to the one on Blue Diamond.
- 31:26Sean McAllister: East Side, West Side on Blue Diamond, and then the one that's uh a little bit more central.
- 31:30Dayna Roselli: Okay.
- 31:31Dayna Roselli: Habit burger.
- 31:32Dayna Roselli: Habit burger.
- 31:32Dayna Roselli: It was delicious.
- 31:33Dayna Roselli: I got a Caesar salad too.
- 31:34Dayna Roselli: It was good.
- 31:36Dayna Roselli: Um and you know what?
- 31:37Dayna Roselli: It wasn't overly expensive there.
- 31:40Dayna Roselli: I felt like it was well priced.
- 31:41Dayna Roselli: So FYI.
- 31:44Dayna Roselli: Okay, well, should we get to some celebrity news with a Vegas twist?
- 31:48Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 31:51Dayna Roselli: Well, someone sent us a video of Blake Shelton's show at the Coliseum at Caesars Palace and said, Hey, Gwen joined him on stage tonight.
- 31:59Dayna Roselli: And we thought, okay, hey, will people be interested in this?
- 32:02Dayna Roselli: We threw it up on social media, and boy, people are loving the fact that Gwen popped into his show at the Coliseum.
- 32:09Dayna Roselli: It's part he's been doing a residency there.
- 32:11Sean McAllister: Right.
- 32:12Sean McAllister: And obviously, it's not the first time that Blake and Gwen have gotten up and performed together.
- 32:17Sean McAllister: They're married.
- 32:18Sean McAllister: It is one of those Vegas things where if you go to any entertainer's show, there is a good chance that on any given night they could have a special guest pop up on stage.
- 32:33Sean McAllister: And that's what happened at Blake's residency.
- 32:36Sean McAllister: Gwen is not joining him at every single show.
- 32:39Sean McAllister: So it was a unique thing to have pop uh Gwen pop up on stage.
- 32:43Sean McAllister: And fans who were there that night were really excited about it.
- 32:46Dayna Roselli: I know.
- 32:46Dayna Roselli: Because we went to her show once and he popped in.
- 32:49Sean McAllister: Right.
- 32:49Dayna Roselli: And that was when she was over at Planet Hollywood.
- 32:51Dayna Roselli: But yeah, some because a couple people comment on her, like, well, what makes this special?
- 32:54Dayna Roselli: Like they're married, and like obviously it's like, well, no, because she's not there every night.
- 32:58Dayna Roselli: And then other people were like, Oh man, I wish she would have been there the night that I was there.
- 33:02Dayna Roselli: And so, yeah, that's a thing.
- 33:04Dayna Roselli: It just kind of all aligns.
- 33:06Dayna Roselli: And for one specific night, she joined him on stage.
- 33:11Dayna Roselli: They sang their song that they sing together, a duet that they have, and people really enjoyed it.
- 33:16Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 33:16Dayna Roselli: So um, yeah, people are loving the video, and it's a special moment.
- 33:20Dayna Roselli: And um, yeah, exactly.
- 33:22Dayna Roselli: Those types of things can happen.
- 33:23Dayna Roselli: Garth Brooks used to have Trisha join him a lot.
- 33:27Sean McAllister: Uh, he would.
- 33:28Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 33:28Sean McAllister: They were so cute together.
- 33:29Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 33:30Dayna Roselli: So I mean, you didn't didn't know, it wasn't every night.
- 33:32Sean McAllister: No, not at all.
- 33:33Dayna Roselli: But, you know, sometimes often, you know, here and there.
- 33:36Dayna Roselli: So things like that.
- 33:37Dayna Roselli: Um, hey, Sean, I know that you are very familiar with the show Hell's Kitchen because you worked at Fox Five for so long.
- 33:44Dayna Roselli: Um, and I just saw that Ellie Parker of Main Street Provisions won season 24.
- 33:50Dayna Roselli: Yes.
- 33:51Dayna Roselli: Main Street's here in Las Vegas.
- 33:53Sean McAllister: That's right.
- 33:53Sean McAllister: Big congratulations to Chef Ellie Parker.
- 33:56Sean McAllister: Uh, this season of Hell's Kitchen was the battle of the states.
- 34:01Sean McAllister: So chefs from different states were going head to head to see who would come out on top.
- 34:05Sean McAllister: And Ellie Parker representing Nevada well.
- 34:09Dayna Roselli: That's awesome.
- 34:10Sean McAllister: Taking the prize for season 24.
- 34:13Sean McAllister: Um, I believe she has the uh option to go and be head chef at Hell's Kitchen at the Foxwoods Resort now.
- 34:20Sean McAllister: So we'll see if she ends up um, you know, going permanently over there or if she's gonna stick around town.
- 34:27Sean McAllister: We'll need to hit her up and and find out.
- 34:29Sean McAllister: But her dad and her fiance were there for the final dinner service.
- 34:32Sean McAllister: Uh her menu uh included uh scallop ceviche, beef tartare, seafood bisque, sweet pea cappellini, steamed mussels, pan seared ribeye, airline chicken breast, duck roast, uh, roast duck chicken breast, crispy skin salmon, and pan seared branzino.
- 34:55Sean McAllister: So obviously the people in the dining room who are being served can make selections off of that menu uh for their meal.
- 35:03Sean McAllister: And it really is intense.
- 35:05Sean McAllister: I've been in uh the Hell's Kitchen Dining Room while they've been filming the show, like to be a guest as they're they're doing some of the finale, and it is intense.
- 35:15Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 35:16Sean McAllister: Because you have the chefs back in the kitchen.
- 35:18Sean McAllister: Sometimes they come out and do tableside uh presentations, and you can feel the like the heat.
- 35:28Sean McAllister: You can feel the heat and the stress and the tension.
- 35:31Dayna Roselli: The hell's kitchen.
- 35:33Sean McAllister: Yes, but the food really is it's really, really good food, and the chefs who win are absolutely deserve the accolades and the prize that they get.
- 35:43Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 35:44Dayna Roselli: I can season 24.
- 35:45Dayna Roselli: This show is you know just keeps pumping them out.
- 35:48Sean McAllister: It it does.
- 35:49Dayna Roselli: It's going on and on and on and on, and that just shows how popular it is.
- 35:53Dayna Roselli: People love to watch a good competition.
- 35:55Sean McAllister: They do.
- 35:56Dayna Roselli: And we love Gordon.
- 35:58Sean McAllister: Gordon is the absolute best, despite his, you know, he can be very uh intense on the show, his TV persona, but he is the nicest guy.
- 36:09Sean McAllister: And you know, we're glad to have him represent at so many places here in Las Vegas, too.
- 36:14Dayna Roselli: Hey, Nevada.
- 36:15Dayna Roselli: I love it.
- 36:16Dayna Roselli: Las Vegas, Nevada, winning season 24.
- 36:19Dayna Roselli: Thank you, Ellie Parker.
- 36:21Dayna Roselli: Congratulations.
- 36:23Dayna Roselli: All right, and here's a star sighting.
- 36:24Dayna Roselli: Chris McDonald from Hacks actually was in town and stopped by the Hall of Excellence Sports Museum over at the Fountain Blue.
- 36:34Dayna Roselli: So I guess I was just putting two and two together there, and that means that Hacks is in town probably shooting for their final season, and he popped over there to visit.
- 36:44Dayna Roselli: So um, so many things have been in production in Las Vegas lately.
- 36:48Sean McAllister: Yeah, they really have.
- 36:49Sean McAllister: And if you don't recognize him from Hacks, you definitely know him as Shooter McGavin from Happy Gilmore.
- 36:54Dayna Roselli: And I know him from Goose in Greece 2.
- 36:57Sean McAllister: There we go.
- 36:59Sean McAllister: See, you love Grease too.
- 37:01Dayna Roselli: I love Grease 2.
- 37:02Dayna Roselli: We still never finished it.
- 37:04Dayna Roselli: I know you said you weren't really sure if you wanted to finish it, but I'm gonna make you someday.
- 37:08Dayna Roselli: It's it's so good.
- 37:10Dayna Roselli: Who else loves Grease 2?
- 37:12Sean McAllister: I'm still not sure that I want to finish it.
- 37:13Dayna Roselli: Who are my Grease 2 people?
- 37:16Dayna Roselli: Text us.
- 37:16Dayna Roselli: The link is in the show notes.
- 37:18Dayna Roselli: I want to know who enjoyed Grease 2 like I did.
- 37:21Sean McAllister: I feel like it is a small, mighty, and dedicated group.
- 37:24Dayna Roselli: It is.
- 37:25Dayna Roselli: I don't know about small.
- 37:26Dayna Roselli: I feel like it's it's up there.
- 37:30Dayna Roselli: Um, but yes, um, if you don't recognize him from hacks, then uh Happy Gilmore, did you say?
- 37:35Dayna Roselli: Or Grease or Grease 2.
- 37:38Dayna Roselli: Also, you had sent me something this morning.
- 37:40Dayna Roselli: Now I saw that Nikki Glacer was doing a TV show or shooting a TV series with Kim Kardashian and a few others, but now we're finding out that there's a Vegas story to it, and they might be coming over here to Las Vegas soon to shoot the series, that they're shooting a bunch of it in LA, but then they're gonna be moving production to Vegas.
- 38:02Dayna Roselli: So we'll have to keep our eye out for that.
- 38:04Dayna Roselli: What's it called again?
- 38:04Sean McAllister: Yeah, it's called the Fifth Wheel.
- 38:06Dayna Roselli: Okay.
- 38:06Sean McAllister: Uh, Fortune Themster is another hilarious uh comedian.
- 38:10Sean McAllister: Yes.
- 38:11Sean McAllister: I've gone to see her stand up uh several times when she's been through Las Vegas.
- 38:15Sean McAllister: She's absolutely hilarious.
- 38:17Sean McAllister: She's in the whole podcasting scene too, so you may listen to to Fortune as well.
- 38:22Sean McAllister: Um, but this just looks like it's gonna be a a great cast.
- 38:27Dayna Roselli: It does, and it's uh it's a Netflix original, right?
- 38:29Sean McAllister: Yep.
- 38:30Dayna Roselli: Okay, so yeah, I mean, I I don't know what others will be in there.
- 38:34Sean McAllister: Um we were looking it's directed by Eva Longoria.
- 38:37Dayna Roselli: Oh, yeah, that's right.
- 38:39Dayna Roselli: And uh Brenda Song is in it too.
- 38:43Dayna Roselli: Kim Kardashian, Nicky Glacier, yeah, and Fortune by Joe.
- 38:45Dayna Roselli: Okay, so um, and apparently the film is produced by Gloria Sanchez Productions with Will Farrell among the producers.
- 38:54Sean McAllister: All right.
- 38:55Dayna Roselli: So I don't know.
- 38:56Dayna Roselli: I it seems like it's gonna be funny.
- 38:57Dayna Roselli: There's gonna be a Vegas aspect to it, and we'll keep our eyes peeled for that.
- 39:02Sean McAllister: So keep an eye out for this bunch of bunch of gals as they're roaming around Vegas shooting scenes.
- 39:09Sean McAllister: That's for sure.
- 39:11Dayna Roselli: Hey, uh, don't mean to end on a sad note, but I just was thinking, you know what we need to mention here?
- 39:16Dayna Roselli: Um Kim Vaux passed away, and Kim Vaux is a celebrity hairstylist, had a salon over at the Mirage for a long time.
- 39:24Dayna Roselli: We didn't know he'd been suffering from colon cancer since 2018.
- 39:30Dayna Roselli: His uh partner, husband, I think, posted um on Instagram that he had passed away after a long battle.
- 39:37Dayna Roselli: And I was so sad to see that because I think you and I both have such positive stories.
- 39:42Dayna Roselli: First of all, I remember my brother being in town and seeing Kim Vaux, and he was totally starstruck really back in the day.
- 39:49Dayna Roselli: He was like, oh my gosh, there's Kim Vaux.
- 39:51Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 39:52Dayna Roselli: And so I don't remember what um TV shows Kim had, like, because I know he's been on a lot and had a lot of TV shows and all the names and stuff, but I don't he watched that show, whatever.
- 40:01Dayna Roselli: So he was so excited.
- 40:03Sean McAllister: Back in the day, there it was, I think he was on E.
- 40:05Sean McAllister: Yeah or something.
- 40:06Sean McAllister: I think there was a some show that he was on that he, I mean, he was one of the celebrity hairstylists um back when celebrity hairstylists were just really kind of becoming a thing.
- 40:20Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 40:21Dayna Roselli: And there were show more and more reality shows about them, and you know, shows where it would it they would come in and it would include their feedback and stuff like that.
- 40:29Dayna Roselli: Um, when I left channel eight in 2012, I had a year non-compete, so I couldn't work on television in Las Vegas.
- 40:37Dayna Roselli: Um, and Kim Vogue came to me and said, Hey, I'm doing this live streaming thing and I need some hosts.
- 40:43Dayna Roselli: It's called Battle of the Strands and it's gonna stream on like YouTube.
- 40:47Dayna Roselli: And that was a long time ago, and I was like, oh, okay, that's interesting.
- 40:50Dayna Roselli: But anyway, he was like, come with me, you know, be one of my hosts.
- 40:54Dayna Roselli: And I just I wanted to just shout him out for that because his kindness, he he wanted me to still feel relevant.
- 41:01Dayna Roselli: He knew, like, you know, this is the world of TV.
- 41:03Dayna Roselli: You can't work for a year if you want to say you can go to other markets and work, but it seems like you love Las Vegas.
- 41:08Dayna Roselli: Well, I'm gonna do this thing.
- 41:09Dayna Roselli: We're gonna shoot it over at the, I think at the Hard Rock.
- 41:11Dayna Roselli: I think we did it at the joint and the the old hard rock.
- 41:15Dayna Roselli: Yep.
- 41:15Dayna Roselli: Um, and you know, he flew me out to LA and get, you know, I got a tour of the YouTube studio, went over to his house for lunch, and we went over the script, um, had meetings here in Las Vegas and did a couple projects with him.
- 41:28Dayna Roselli: And he was just such a joy to work with, so nice.
- 41:30Dayna Roselli: I was so scared he was gonna be critical of my hair.
- 41:33Dayna Roselli: So I panicked at first, but then he was like, no, he liked it.
- 41:35Dayna Roselli: It was when my hair was shorter and angled and I had to.
- 41:38Dayna Roselli: And he didn't turn you blonde.
- 41:39Dayna Roselli: He didn't turn me blonde.
- 41:40Dayna Roselli: So the brunette worked, but but anyway, what a nice, nice person.
- 41:44Dayna Roselli: And so so sad to hear of his passing only at age 55.
- 41:48Dayna Roselli: FYI, everyone, get your colonoscopy.
- 41:51Dayna Roselli: It's very, very important.
- 41:53Dayna Roselli: Um, and just bummed to hear, but I think so many people were shocked, you know.
- 41:58Sean McAllister: Yes, absolutely.
- 41:59Sean McAllister: I know I had many encounters with with Kim over the years too.
- 42:02Sean McAllister: He would be like the celebrity stylist who would come on our our uh show.
- 42:07Sean McAllister: Right.
- 42:07Sean McAllister: You know, I had a show on Fox here in uh Las Vegas for for years, and he would come on regularly and so have doing studio segments.
- 42:17Sean McAllister: So many just great, fond memories of just such a what a warm, kind person he was.
- 42:24Dayna Roselli: Yeah, and the salon's still open in LA, so Kim Vaux Salon, I believe.
- 42:28Dayna Roselli: Um you can find that easily by just looking it up.
- 42:32Dayna Roselli: So if you're ever in Los Angeles, maybe go in and support uh honor Kim Vow, who was really one of the great celebrity hairstylists, like Sean said, at the beginning when celebrity hairstylists started becoming a thing.
- 42:45Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 42:45Dayna Roselli: Yeah, it's really set the tone.
- 42:47Dayna Roselli: All right.
- 42:48Dayna Roselli: Well, listen, um, that's it for the podcast, I think.
- 42:51Dayna Roselli: This week, we've got a lot more coming up in the following weeks.
- 42:54Dayna Roselli: And gosh, every time we think it's February, it's not even February yet.
- 42:58Dayna Roselli: This has been like the longest month in the life of months.
- 43:02Sean McAllister: Well, it's because it feels like it followed the longest holiday season ever.
- 43:06Dayna Roselli: Yes.
- 43:07Sean McAllister: It started early and just kept going.
- 43:09Sean McAllister: Uh, thanks so much for listening this week.

- 43:36Dayna Roselli: And I wasn't even sure if I liked the app yet.
- 43:39Dayna Roselli: And I didn't, so then I had to delete the app and now I'm like, now they have all my stuff.
- 43:43Dayna Roselli: So I just think there's just such value in not having to put your stuff in.
- 43:47Sean McAllister: See what I do if I download an app and have to put in all this stuff, I just delete it immediately.
- 43:52Sean McAllister: I'm like, well, that was a waste of time.
- 43:54Dayna Roselli: Well, yeah, that too.
- 43:55Dayna Roselli: And I but I was really interested to see what this was about.
- 43:58Dayna Roselli: But I agree, it deters you, doesn't it?
- 44:00Sean McAllister: Yes, it does.
- 44:01Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 44:02Dayna Roselli: Um, also wanted to mention, I keep saying, I also wanted to mention uh the the Vegas Loop has been was used a lot during C CES, and there are a lot more stops opening.
