Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Well, a very happy hump day to you. 106.7 Light FM. Cubby, Christine,
- 0:03Speaker 1: producer Kristen. It is 6.08 on this September 16th. Oh,
- 0:08Speaker 1: my gosh. Have you done the math?
- 0:11Speaker 2: What math?
- 0:11Speaker 1: It's September 16th. We've done the math, Christine.
- 0:15Speaker 2: Do you remember?
- 0:16Speaker 1: No. You know what? You're right. We're coming up on
- 0:18Speaker 1: Monday the 21st.
- 0:20Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 0:20Speaker 1: That was a great guess.
- 0:21Speaker 2: That's not what you're talking about.
- 0:22Speaker 1: Not what I'm talking about.
- 0:23Speaker 2: Okay.
- 0:24Speaker 1: I'm talking about 100 days. Until Christmas. Are you cringing
- 0:31Speaker 1: right now?
- 0:31Speaker 2: Why? Why?
- 0:34Speaker 1: All right. I won't play the whole thing, but come on.
- 0:40Speaker 1: We're 100 days away. We'll be flipping that switch sometime soon.
- 0:45Speaker 1: Don't worry, not this month. And not next month.
- 0:47Speaker 3: But soon. Soon.
- 0:50Speaker 1: Okay. Yeah, Santa's getting ready, man.
- 0:52Speaker 2: Santa is getting ready. Actually, Cubby, you know what? Today
- 0:55Speaker 2: the post office says Operation Santa officially begins.
- 0:58Speaker 1: Oh, so, like, that means as far as, like, his
- 1:02Speaker 1: work or the elves?
- 1:04Speaker 2: You can, the elves, yes, will take your letters.
- 1:07Speaker 1: Okay.
- 1:07Speaker 2: You can register to adopt letters. And you can write
- 1:13Speaker 2: letter adoptions letters. To Santa, to Santa Claus, 123 Elf Road,
- 1:19Speaker 2: North Pole, 88888.
- 1:21Speaker 1: So I wonder what they do with all the mail
- 1:24Speaker 1: up until now. Because today is the day they accept it, right?
- 1:27Speaker 1: Does it hang outside a front door somewhere?
- 1:29Speaker 2: It's just waiting for Santa. I guess it just piles
- 1:31Speaker 2: up because he's on summer vacation.
- 1:33Speaker 1: Right. Well, it's great because I love it. We, for
- 1:36Speaker 1: the first time this year, not this year. Yeah, it
- 1:39Speaker 1: was first time this year. I told Miles, hey, you
- 1:42Speaker 1: better not do that because Santa's watching. And I keep
- 1:47Speaker 1: forgetting to bring up Santa in the summertime and in
- 1:49Speaker 1: the springtime.
- 1:50Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:50Speaker 1: But it hit me yesterday. I got to start playing
- 1:53Speaker 1: the Santa card with the kids. Because, yeah, we have
- 1:56Speaker 1: presents for them, but Santa brings a lot to them. Yeah.
- 1:58Speaker 1: And producer Kristen was telling me that when she was
- 2:01Speaker 1: a kid, her brother actually got coal one time.
- 2:04Speaker 2: Oh, so it can happen.
- 2:06Speaker 1: It can happen.
- 2:07Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:07Speaker 1: Don't think that's a threat.
- 2:08Speaker 2: Miles better take this seriously.
- 2:09Speaker 3: Right, right.
- 2:10Speaker 1: Oh, it's that time of year.
- 2:12Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:12Speaker 1: And you were mentioning, like, one of the decorations or
- 2:16Speaker 1: some of the decorations are coming up.
- 2:17Speaker 2: Well, we're starting to get the schedule. So I believe
- 2:19Speaker 2: it's November 18th we get the giant snowflake.
- 2:22Speaker 1: Right.
- 2:22Speaker 2: On Fifth Avenue.
- 2:24Speaker 4: I know.
- 2:24Speaker 1: People are rolling their eyes saying we're rushing it. But, hey,
- 2:27Speaker 1: you know, it's our season.
- 2:28Speaker 2: No, just keeping you informed.
- 2:29Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 2:29Speaker 2: That's all. I'm still pumpkin spice. Oh.
- 2:32Speaker 1: You know, so. And what happened yesterday, for those that
- 2:35Speaker 1: weren't tuned in, you left during the show. Yeah. To
- 2:38Speaker 1: try to get that.
- 2:38Speaker 2: Could you not... Like, our boss is listening.
- 2:40Speaker 1: Are you kidding me? Our boss hasn't heard our show
- 2:42Speaker 1: in two years.
- 2:43Speaker 2: Come on. But yes, we were playing a bunch of songs, right, Cubby?
- 2:48Speaker 2: So you were covering everything, and I went on a
- 2:51Speaker 2: Starbucks mission to find Snoopy. It was the Peanuts release
- 2:56Speaker 2: day yesterday for Starbucks.
- 2:57Speaker 1: And I loved your social, by the way.
- 2:59Speaker 2: Oh, thank you. And thank you, producer Kristen, for producing that. I...
- 3:03Speaker 2: Didn't go first thing when Starbucks opened at 5 a.m.,
- 3:06Speaker 2: which would have made sense. Then I would have gotten
- 3:08Speaker 2: one of those Snoopies, like the really fancy glass ones
- 3:11Speaker 2: that looked like the barista. So when was it that
- 3:14Speaker 2: I headed out? Like 8.30 or something?
- 3:16Speaker 1: It was like 8.30 and you came back at 9.
- 3:18Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 3:18Speaker 2: After two Starbucks, I got the most that I could get, peanuts-wise,
- 3:23Speaker 2: which was like the hot coffee mug and the little pins.
- 3:28Speaker 1: But the one you wanted, you said, were gone.
- 3:30Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 3:30Speaker 2: Yeah, most of the Snoopy stuff was gone. So then
- 3:32Speaker 2: there was cute black cat stuff. So I bought that.
- 3:37Speaker 2: But then people who are looking at my social haul
- 3:39Speaker 2: are saying, what does a black cat have to do
- 3:41Speaker 2: with Snoopy? And it's like, I'm sorry. It's a mashup.
- 3:44Speaker 1: Oh, you read in the comments in the post? Yeah.
- 3:46Speaker 1: You know what? Some of those people.
- 3:48Speaker 2: It's just... It was meant to be a Snoopy haul. Right.
- 3:51Speaker 2: I saw cute black cat stuff. Got that, too. What
- 3:55Speaker 2: can I tell you?
- 3:55Speaker 1: Well, I applaud the fact that you went out to
- 3:57Speaker 1: find something that was a hot item yesterday, and I
- 3:59Speaker 1: had no idea about it until you brought it up.
- 4:01Speaker 1: And even Inez Rosales, who does traffic on Fox 5,
- 4:04Speaker 1: hit me up on the side and said, I saw Christine...
- 4:07Speaker 1: went out, did she have any luck?
- 4:09Speaker 2: Oh, I wish I had known.
- 4:12Speaker 1: But they told you they only had four and at
- 4:14Speaker 1: 5 a.m. when they opened.
- 4:16Speaker 2: Snoopy, the one that looks like Barry said, those were
- 4:18Speaker 2: gone as of 5 a.m. But there was some other
- 4:20Speaker 2: stuff that I could have gotten. What I noticed, what
- 4:22Speaker 2: people do at Starbucks when they get in and they
- 4:24Speaker 2: go to the merch, they kind of grab it and
- 4:27Speaker 2: then think about it. So it's almost like you have
- 4:29Speaker 2: to stand there and maybe somebody will put one thing back.
- 4:33Speaker 2: And then you can get it.
- 4:33Speaker 1: Oh, you have to lurk.
- 4:35Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 4:35Speaker 1: All right. We're coming right back with two pretty cool things.
- 4:39Speaker 1: It's Cubby, Christine, Kristen, and you. Light FM.
- 4:43Speaker 4: More Cubby and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 4:46Speaker 4: Next on Light FM.
- 4:49Speaker 1: Okay.
- 4:49Speaker 2: I need to tell you two things.
- 4:51Speaker 4: Cubby and Christine's.
- 4:53Speaker 1: Two pretty cool things. Pretty cool thing happening at Target.
- 4:57Speaker 1: Target's popular car seat trade-in event returns this Sunday. And
- 5:02Speaker 1: shoppers can get a 20% off Target Circle bonus on
- 5:06Speaker 1: a new baby gear purchase when they drop off their
- 5:09Speaker 1: old car seat. Now, the event ends October 3rd, so
- 5:13Speaker 1: you have this Sunday through October 3rd.
- 5:15Speaker 2: That's wonderful.
- 5:16Speaker 1: But that's good to know.
- 5:17Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 5:17Speaker 1: If you have an old car seat around, you can
- 5:18Speaker 1: get something for it.
- 5:19Speaker 2: Nice.
- 5:20Speaker 1: What do you have, Christine?
- 5:22Speaker 2: Well, let's take a trip to Nashville. Dolly Parton's Hotel
- 5:25Speaker 2: has just opened. It's the Song Teller Hotel. It's downtown Nashville.
- 5:30Speaker 2: It's what they call a soft hotel. opening this week.
- 5:33Speaker 2: The first few guests have come in. Property features a
- 5:36Speaker 2: 20,000 square foot museum dedicated to Dolly's personal archive. And
- 5:41Speaker 2: she filmed interactive videos earlier in the year. So visitors
- 5:45Speaker 2: will hear her narrate her life story firsthand.
- 5:48Speaker 1: This is amazing.
- 5:49Speaker 2: Museum opens to the public September 29th.
- 5:51Speaker 1: And you got the airport changing their name to Dolly.
- 5:53Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 5:54Speaker 1: We heard about that last week. So I love the
- 5:55Speaker 1: Dolly part in love.
- 5:56Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 5:57Speaker 1: Coming right back with more variety from the 80s through today.
- 6:00Speaker 4: More Cubby and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 6:04Speaker 4: Next on Light FM.
- 6:05Speaker 1: If you feel mentally overwhelmed, we have something here I
- 6:09Speaker 1: think might make you feel better. 106.7 Light FM. Cubby, Christine,
- 6:11Speaker 1: and Kristen here. Made me feel better when you told
- 6:14Speaker 1: me about it. It was a good way to kind
- 6:16Speaker 1: of view things.
- 6:17Speaker 2: Yeah. We share so we know we're not alone and
- 6:20Speaker 2: it's okay. If you do feel overwhelmed and you're forgetting things,
- 6:23Speaker 2: it's okay, Cubby. We may have too many tabs open.
- 6:27Speaker 1: Love that analogy.
- 6:28Speaker 2: It is wonderful. Some psychologists are calling it. It feels
- 6:32Speaker 2: like your brain has 37 tabs open at the same time.
- 6:35Speaker 1: Like 47 or 57 for me.
- 6:37Speaker 2: Tell me about it. So it's going on. For most
- 6:40Speaker 2: of us, right, this was a survey of over 2,000 people,
- 6:42Speaker 2: and we're just finding life a little overwhelming. What's clogging
- 6:47Speaker 2: up all that mental bandwidth? Work deadlines, meetings, appointments, household chores, bills,
- 6:52Speaker 2: basically the endless list of adult responsibilities. So signs that
- 6:57Speaker 2: you have too many tabs open include putting something somewhere safe,
- 7:01Speaker 2: and then you forgot where you put it.
- 7:03Speaker 1: All the time.
- 7:03Speaker 2: All the time. You know, you walk into a room
- 7:07Speaker 2: and you forget why you went in there, remembering something
- 7:11Speaker 2: important right as you're falling asleep. Does your mind race?
- 7:16Speaker 1: All the time. You think of the most important things.
- 7:19Speaker 3: Yes.
- 7:19Speaker 1: And then one actually last week I Googled, how do
- 7:22Speaker 1: I stop my mind from racing? And I got several
- 7:25Speaker 1: quotes that made me feel better. Like, you know, worrying
- 7:27Speaker 1: tonight won't solve tomorrow. That kind of stuff.
- 7:29Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 7:30Speaker 2: Some of the old school sayings.
- 7:31Speaker 1: Are very true work. Right.
- 7:33Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:33Speaker 1: But I wish we had a button on our body
- 7:35Speaker 1: where we could do a control alt delete or just restart.
- 7:39Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:39Speaker 1: Clear cash.
- 7:41Speaker 2: Absolutely.
- 7:41Speaker 1: Because too many tabs is a real thing.
- 7:44Speaker 2: Last night, Eric said to me, because I have such
- 7:46Speaker 2: a hard time falling asleep again because of thoughts, he said,
- 7:48Speaker 2: could you just unplug your brain? I'm like, yeah, I
- 7:50Speaker 2: wish I could.
- 7:51Speaker 1: It'd be amazing if we could, right?
- 7:52Speaker 2: We could just do that. But yeah, this is just
- 7:54Speaker 2: that general overwhelm. I don't know. I get to the
- 7:57Speaker 2: point where it's like my head hurts and I do.
- 7:59Speaker 2: I feel like I have to shut down. Like I
- 8:01Speaker 2: can't even answer sometimes text messages or DM or anything.
- 8:05Speaker 2: I just.
- 8:05Speaker 1: Or a text comes in. I used to feel like
- 8:08Speaker 1: I had to respond to a text right away. I
- 8:09Speaker 1: let texts... Sit sometimes. I'm like, I can't. I just can't.
- 8:13Speaker 3: Yes.
- 8:13Speaker 2: Right. What is that?
- 8:14Speaker 1: Meanwhile, my kids.
- 8:15Speaker 2: Yeah, well, that's immediate.
- 8:17Speaker 1: Their brains are nice and fresh.
- 8:18Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 8:18Speaker 1: Like Naomi will say, you know, on July 5th around noon,
- 8:22Speaker 1: you said we go to the playground.
- 8:24Speaker 2: And not only that, she'll tell you in German.
- 8:26Speaker 1: Right. I know, like that fresh mind.
- 8:28Speaker 2: Yeah, she's learning.
- 8:29Speaker 3: All right.
- 8:30Speaker 2: It's incredible. But yes, we are not alone not to
- 8:33Speaker 2: be concerned if you're going through this.
- 8:34Speaker 1: If you can relate, give us a text. In fact,
- 8:36Speaker 1: we are open for text business. What's up with you today?
- 8:39Speaker 3: 44363.
- 8:39Speaker 1: More Cubby and Christine.
- 8:42Speaker 4: And the great music variety you expect. Next on Light FM.
- 8:46Speaker 1: 500 bucks up for grabs coming up at 8.05-ish this morning.
- 8:50Speaker 1: Hang on for that. It's Cubby and Christine. Producer Kristen.
- 8:53Speaker 1: I'm looking up the definition of intellectual. I mean, we
- 8:57Speaker 1: kind of already know what it is, but the official
- 8:59Speaker 1: definition of intellectual means something relating to the ability to think, reason,
- 9:04Speaker 1: and understand ideas, or a person who spends their time
- 9:08Speaker 1: studying and thinking about complex subjects. With that said, where
- 9:14Speaker 1: are the intellectual cities, Christine? Are we in one of them?
- 9:17Speaker 2: We are in one of them, one of the top 10.
- 9:20Speaker 1: All right, top 10.
- 9:20Speaker 2: In the U.S., yes, of the most intellectual cities, according
- 9:25Speaker 2: to this study, and A lot of it is based
- 9:27Speaker 2: on us having deep conversations.
- 9:31Speaker 1: Like us as in New Yorkers?
- 9:33Speaker 3: New Jersey?
- 9:33Speaker 2: Yes. So not just that we're surrounded by great colleges
- 9:38Speaker 2: and hospitals and museums and libraries, but do we actually
- 9:42Speaker 2: sit and discuss these things? And survey says number one
- 9:46Speaker 2: on the list is Boston, Massachusetts.
- 9:49Speaker 1: Okay.
- 9:49Speaker 2: For the Smarties.
- 9:50Speaker 1: All right. A little bit of a rival here.
- 9:52Speaker 2: I know.
- 9:52Speaker 3: I know.
- 9:53Speaker 2: I thought this is not going to sit well with us.
- 9:54Speaker 1: At least it's close by.
- 9:55Speaker 2: It's okay. Yeah. And listening in coffee shops. that sort
- 10:00Speaker 2: of thing. That's how this study was done. What are
- 10:02Speaker 2: people discussing? So Boston came up, followed by Hartford, Connecticut.
- 10:06Speaker 1: All right. All good schools around those areas, too.
- 10:08Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 10:09Speaker 2: That has a lot to do with it, too. San
- 10:11Speaker 2: Francisco is third on the list, followed by Providence, Rhode Island. Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
- 10:16Speaker 1: A lot of Northeast so far, except for San Francisco.
- 10:19Speaker 2: We'll take it. San Jose, California is number six. Number seven, Portland, Oregon.
- 10:24Speaker 2: Number eight, New York City.
- 10:26Speaker 1: Intellectual City.
- 10:27Speaker 2: Followed by Richmond, Virginia. Paul Cubby Bright.
- 10:31Speaker 1: Wow, two hours from where I grew up.
- 10:33Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 10:34Speaker 1: I grew up in Virginia Beach, so I'll take it.
- 10:35Speaker 2: Yeah, not bad. And Washington, D.C. rounds out the top 10. Now,
- 10:38Speaker 2: do you want to do the least intellectual? And again,
- 10:40Speaker 2: I am simply reading the list. This is not my decision.
- 10:44Speaker 1: I have probably lived in all these places. No.
- 10:46Speaker 2: I just don't want to insult anybody.
- 10:48Speaker 1: I'm the reason the poll went down.
- 10:49Speaker 3: All right.
- 10:50Speaker 1: Here we go.
- 10:51Speaker 2: Number one, Riverside, California.
- 10:54Speaker 1: Somebody might be tuned in on the iHeartRadio app in Riverside, California.
- 10:57Speaker 1: Sorry about that.
- 10:58Speaker 3: Not me.
- 10:58Speaker 2: Not me. Not judging. Fresno came in second.
- 11:01Speaker 1: Fresno.
- 11:02Speaker 2: Las Vegas.
- 11:02Speaker 1: A lot of West Coast.
- 11:04Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 11:04Speaker 2: I know.
- 11:05Speaker 1: Wow. You're really making the West Coast mad.
- 11:07Speaker 2: Las Vegas, followed by Houston, Texas.
- 11:10Speaker 1: I did live there.
- 11:11Speaker 2: All right.
- 11:12Speaker 1: Not intellectual.
- 11:13Speaker 2: You moved. And Phoenix, Arizona for the top five least intellectual.
- 11:18Speaker 1: Very interesting how it really is west, like way west.
- 11:22Speaker 1: They didn't bring up a Florida. They didn't bring up
- 11:24Speaker 1: anything on the east coast is not intellectual. So a
- 11:28Speaker 1: lot of smart people on the eastern seaboard. Yeah. And
- 11:30Speaker 1: we'll take that.
- 11:30Speaker 2: We got to keep it going.
- 11:31Speaker 1: But sometimes you're with your partner and you realize, you
- 11:34Speaker 1: know what? I've known this partner for a long time.
- 11:37Speaker 1: They're dumb. Oh. We're going to talk about that come
- 11:39Speaker 1: up next. I'm not talking about my wife. I'm talking
- 11:41Speaker 1: about just in general.
- 11:42Speaker 2: In general, of course.
- 11:44Speaker 1: At what point did you find out that your partner
- 11:47Speaker 1: may not have it all intellectually? We will talk about
- 11:50Speaker 1: that coming up at 7.05, a very funny article that
- 11:52Speaker 1: we've been reading. What do you have coming up in
- 11:54Speaker 1: the news, Christine?
- 11:55Speaker 2: Let's check out the headlines, and ladies, apparently we can't
- 11:57Speaker 2: wear leggings.
- 11:58Speaker 4: More Cubby and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 12:02Speaker 2: Next on Light FM.
- 12:03Speaker 1: Two minutes before 7 a.m. on this Wednesday morning, Christine
- 12:06Speaker 1: has everything you need to know. Good morning, Christine.
- 12:08Speaker 2: And good morning, Cubby. And a very sad story. Out
- 12:10Speaker 2: of L.A., at least three people have died. A news
- 12:13Speaker 2: helicopter crashed there last night, and the chopper operated by
- 12:17Speaker 2: Angel City Air provided news coverage for KMBC and sister
- 12:20Speaker 2: station Telemundo 52, the.
- 12:23Speaker 2: Reporter and the pilot died along with a pedestrian on
- 12:26Speaker 2: the ground. A fourth person rushed to a hospital. The
- 12:29Speaker 2: war in Iran costing $ 246 million a day in its
- 12:33Speaker 2: first five months. The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office releasing that
- 12:38Speaker 2: report yesterday, estimating the war with Iran cost the U.S.
- 12:41Speaker 2: over $ 38 billion from late February to early August. And today,
- 12:46Speaker 2: the Federal Reserve is widely expected to raise rates for
- 12:49Speaker 2: the first time in over three years. Mayor Mamdani says
- 12:54Speaker 2: we've got to prepare for winter weather headed our way.
- 12:57Speaker 2: So they're looking for emergency snow shovelers. There's early registration available,
- 13:03Speaker 2: a paid December orientation, a pay increase to $ 30. It
- 13:06Speaker 2: was $ 19 an hour. And if you go over 40
- 13:07Speaker 2: hours in one week, it's $ 45 an hour. Last year,
- 13:09Speaker 2: they employed 7,800 New Yorkers during all those Blizzard, snowstorms,
- 13:19Speaker 2: everything we had going on.
- 13:20Speaker 1: It was awful last year, and now I'm hearing it
- 13:22Speaker 1: won't be that bad this year. Okay. I heard we're
- 13:24Speaker 1: going to have a lot of storms, but they might
- 13:27Speaker 1: be more wet than white. But, you know, take it
- 13:30Speaker 1: with a grain of salt. These forecasts that are long-range
- 13:32Speaker 1: are hard to predict.
- 13:32Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 13:33Speaker 1: But with El Nino in place... They're saying not as
- 13:35Speaker 1: much snow as we got last season.
- 13:36Speaker 2: Okay, not as much snow sounds good.
- 13:38Speaker 1: Right, except unless you're shoveling for $ 45 an hour. Right.
- 13:41Speaker 1: Then you want snow.
- 13:41Speaker 2: Then it's different, yeah. Sports, baseball, the Mets lost to
- 13:44Speaker 2: the Orioles 7-5. Yankees beat the Twins 8-1. And yes, ladies,
- 13:49Speaker 2: the powers that be in the fashion world are telling
- 13:51Speaker 2: us no-no to the leggings.
- 13:54Speaker 1: Leggings?
- 13:54Speaker 2: Don't want us to wear leggings anymore, which are our
- 13:57Speaker 2: favorite lounge pants, workout pants, go-to-work pants, whatever you want.
- 14:01Speaker 1: Juicy on the back.
- 14:03Speaker 2: Juicy on the back. Yeah, that's going back a little while.
- 14:06Speaker 2: But track pants kind of are now what they're saying
- 14:09Speaker 2: is in. So for that look, for your loungy look.
- 14:13Speaker 3: Track pants.
- 14:14Speaker 1: If you're comfortable in your own home wearing leggings.
- 14:18Speaker 2: Just don't tell anybody.
- 14:19Speaker 1: Just don't tell anybody. Exactly, Christine.
- 14:21Speaker 4: More Covey and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 14:25Speaker 4: Next on Light FM.
- 14:26Speaker 1: You know, you're with your partner, the love of your life.
- 14:30Speaker 1: Things are great. But over time, maybe you realize they're
- 14:34Speaker 1: not the sharpest tool in the shed.
- 14:36Speaker 2: Not the brightest bulb.
- 14:37Speaker 1: Yeah, the elevator doesn't go to the top floor. It's
- 14:40Speaker 1: Light FM, Cubby, Christine, producer Kristen. And look, we're not
- 14:43Speaker 1: going to just give it to the men here, are we, Christine?
- 14:47Speaker 2: I'm not.
- 14:49Speaker 1: We're not, right? Yeah. But in this article we're reading,
- 14:52Speaker 1: it says here, have you ever gotten the impression that
- 14:55Speaker 1: maybe your significant other isn't really all that smart? It
- 14:59Speaker 1: doesn't mean it's the guy or the girl or whatever,
- 15:02Speaker 1: but a viral social media thread has people laughing, had
- 15:05Speaker 1: us laughing, about the moment they realized their significant other
- 15:09Speaker 1: might be, well, kind of dumb. A little bit. The
- 15:13Speaker 1: decision started when a threads user asked people to share
- 15:17Speaker 1: the exact moment they knew their partner wasn't, or actually was,
- 15:22Speaker 1: a certified idiot. Thousands responded with funny and often bewildering stories.
- 15:29Speaker 1: And we want to share some of the responses because
- 15:31Speaker 1: we were reading these off the air and we were
- 15:34Speaker 1: cracking up.
- 15:34Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 15:35Speaker 1: Well, I almost hope this is like a joke and
- 15:37Speaker 1: it didn't really happen.
- 15:38Speaker 2: I think it really happened.
- 15:40Speaker 1: Like somebody said, yes, he got food poisoning from a restaurant,
- 15:46Speaker 1: then ate those very same leftovers. And I'm sure, Kristen,
- 15:51Speaker 1: you can relate to this story. You had food poisoning
- 15:53Speaker 1: a couple of days ago, but you did not have
- 15:55Speaker 1: the leftovers.
- 15:56Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 15:56Speaker 1: In fact, a lot of times when you get food poisoning,
- 15:58Speaker 1: you're not sure where it came from, but you think
- 16:00Speaker 1: you know where it came from.
- 16:01Speaker 2: And you never want it again.
- 16:02Speaker 1: And you never want that food again.
- 16:04Speaker 2: Right. Some misuses of words here when he said, I
- 16:09Speaker 2: can't phantom why you do that instead of fathom.
- 16:14Speaker 1: Now, notice all these comments are incorrect. The word he
- 16:17Speaker 1: is in there. When he.
- 16:19Speaker 3: Sorry.
- 16:19Speaker 1: That's why I was afraid people are going to think
- 16:21Speaker 1: we're picking on the dudes.
- 16:22Speaker 2: Yeah, no, we're not.
- 16:22Speaker 1: But we're not.
- 16:23Speaker 2: Just kind of sharing these because they're so funny.
- 16:25Speaker 1: But another one here. When he reprimanded a child for
- 16:28Speaker 1: eating a pizza slice folded in half, he insisted that
- 16:32Speaker 1: it doubled the calories.
- 16:37Speaker 2: When he didn't know the difference between 12.05 a.m. and
- 16:40Speaker 2: 12.05 p.m. for his flight and had to buy another ticket.
- 16:45Speaker 1: Again, these are real people that they say these are
- 16:48Speaker 1: the quotes that they heard, and they realized, you know what?
- 16:51Speaker 1: My partner, I don't know about them. Here we go.
- 16:55Speaker 1: When he said, I need to decompose instead of decompress.
- 17:00Speaker 1: You need to decompose. I plan on decomposing a little
- 17:03Speaker 1: bit later on.
- 17:03Speaker 2: Yeah, you and me both.
- 17:05Speaker 1: Oh, my gosh. Now, hey, while we're on the subject, Christine,
- 17:08Speaker 1: I mean, our partners might be tuned in right now.
- 17:10Speaker 1: Can you think of anything? Yeah.
- 17:13Speaker 2: Not offhand.
- 17:14Speaker 1: I'm thinking of the Jessica Simpson, Nick Lachey moment. Oh, yeah.
- 17:17Speaker 1: Chicken of the sea.
- 17:18Speaker 2: Definitely.
- 17:19Speaker 1: Like when she said that.
- 17:20Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 17:20Speaker 1: Like, I know this is tuna, but is this, it's
- 17:23Speaker 1: called chicken of the sea.
- 17:24Speaker 4: Right.
- 17:24Speaker 1: And Nick Lachey was like, what?
- 17:26Speaker 2: Yes. How do they get the chicken in there?
- 17:28Speaker 1: I wish, if my wife is listening, honey, can you
- 17:30Speaker 1: text me and let me know something I've said that
- 17:33Speaker 1: made you realize, ah.
- 17:35Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 17:36Speaker 1: My hubby, I love him, but he may not be
- 17:38Speaker 1: the sharpest tool. I'm sure she has a couple. I
- 17:40Speaker 1: can't think of.
- 17:40Speaker 2: That would be funny.
- 17:41Speaker 1: But I'll give them to you after the break.
- 17:43Speaker 2: Okay.
- 17:43Speaker 3: All right.
- 17:44Speaker 1: Give us a text.
- 17:46Speaker 2: 44363.
- 17:47Speaker 1: The light's on, but nobody's home.
- 17:49Speaker 4: More Cubby and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 17:52Speaker 4: Next on Light FM.
- 17:54Speaker 1: Oh, I just might. You just might do the Super Bowl.
- 17:57Speaker 1: Am I starting rumors? I don't know. 106.7 Light FM. Cubby, Christine,
- 18:00Speaker 1: producer Kristen. Bruno Mars right there. And you told me
- 18:03Speaker 1: you had a story. They're already talking about who will
- 18:07Speaker 1: perform at halftime for the Super Bowl.
- 18:08Speaker 2: Yes. So usually we hear from the NFL towards the
- 18:11Speaker 2: end of September as to who's going to be doing
- 18:14Speaker 2: the halftime show. We're getting from TMZ the gossip on
- 18:18Speaker 2: who's highest on the wish list.
- 18:21Speaker 1: All right. Is Bruno in there?
- 18:22Speaker 2: No.
- 18:23Speaker 4: No.
- 18:23Speaker 2: We have two names for you, sir. That would be
- 18:25Speaker 2: Justin Bieber and Harry Styles.
- 18:28Speaker 1: Oh, I mean, you can't go wrong with those.
- 18:31Speaker 2: Yes, you can, according to Kristen.
- 18:33Speaker 1: I'm sorry.
- 18:33Speaker 2: I'm looking over at producer Kristen. She's going, no, no.
- 18:36Speaker 1: Which one do you have a beef with, Kristen?
- 18:38Speaker 2: It's not really a beef. Just not your preference.
- 18:42Speaker 1: You're lukewarm on both of them. You don't hate them.
- 18:45Speaker 1: You don't love them. It's just, eh.
- 18:47Speaker 2: As a halftime show. As a halftime show.
- 18:49Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 18:50Speaker 1: Jonas Brothers.
- 18:51Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
- 18:52Speaker 1: She wants Jonas Brothers.
- 18:53Speaker 2: Yeah. That would be a great choice.
- 18:55Speaker 1: I mean, I was thinking more rock, too. I loved
- 18:58Speaker 1: it when they did the Stones at one time.
- 19:01Speaker 2: I'd be very happy with especially Harry Styles. I'd like
- 19:05Speaker 2: to see Harry Styles for sure.
- 19:06Speaker 1: Well, I'm going to be happy regardless because the Super
- 19:08Speaker 1: Bowl is on Valentine's Day, which is Sunday, February 14th.
- 19:11Speaker 1: And guess what the next day is?
- 19:13Speaker 2: What?
- 19:14Speaker 1: President's Day. It's the first time because everyone talks about
- 19:18Speaker 1: we should have the day off after the Super Bowl. Well,
- 19:20Speaker 1: we're going to have a day off.
- 19:21Speaker 3: Bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, bing.
- 19:23Speaker 1: We have a winner.
- 19:24Speaker 2: That's great.
- 19:25Speaker 1: Okay, let's open the phone. Speaking of getting a winner, 1-800-222-1067.
- 19:30Speaker 1: We need two people to call in and play our
- 19:31Speaker 1: trivia battle. The winner is going to get tickets to
- 19:34Speaker 1: NYC's Ultimate Food and Wine Experience, Saturday, October 17th or Sunday,
- 19:38Speaker 1: October 18th at the NYC Wine and Food Festival. You
- 19:41Speaker 1: can taste your way through hundreds of New York City's
- 19:43Speaker 1: most celebrated restaurants, sip premium wines and spirits, and see
- 19:47Speaker 1: celebrity chefs and Food Network stars live on the culinary
- 19:50Speaker 1: demo stages.
- 19:51Speaker 2: It all comes together at NYC WFF's iconic Grand Tasting
- 19:56Speaker 2: overlooking the East River at the Seaport. Tickets on sale
- 20:00Speaker 2: now at nycwff.org, or you can call and play with us.
- 20:05Speaker 1: Good luck, Light FM.
- 20:06Speaker 4: More Cubby and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 20:10Speaker 4: Next on Light FM.
- 20:12Speaker 1: You pretty good at trivia?
- 20:13Speaker 4: Light FM's Trivia Battle.
- 20:16Speaker 1: All right, Christine Iggy, we have our two contestants on
- 20:18Speaker 1: the phone, and let me introduce you to Team Cubby.
- 20:22Speaker 1: Jennifer is on the phone from New Fairfield. Hey, Jennifer,
- 20:25Speaker 1: what gets you up so early this morning?
- 20:28Speaker 4: Oh, I'm on my way to work.
- 20:29Speaker 1: Let me guess. Teacher?
- 20:31Speaker 2: No.
- 20:32Speaker 1: No, let me guess. I'm in the medical field. Nurse.
- 20:34Speaker 1: I was going to say.
- 20:35Speaker 2: Okay.
- 20:35Speaker 1: Teachers or medical field?
- 20:36Speaker 2: Medical field. There we go.
- 20:37Speaker 1: Okay. Thank you, Jennifer, for playing. Good luck to you.
- 20:40Speaker 1: Who's for competition?
- 20:41Speaker 2: Phil from Stanford. Good morning, Phil.
- 20:44Speaker 3: Hey, good morning. Hi.
- 20:45Speaker 2: How about you? What's the plan for today?
- 20:47Speaker 3: Well, right now I'm on babysitting duty, but normally I'm
- 20:52Speaker 3: an engineer.
- 20:54Speaker 2: Very nice.
- 20:55Speaker 1: All right. So you do it all. Daycare? Engineer? That's amazing. Well,
- 20:59Speaker 1: good luck to you both. Jennifer, you're going to get
- 21:01Speaker 1: three questions. Phil, you'll get three questions. And the best
- 21:04Speaker 1: out of three is going to win our trivia battle.
- 21:06Speaker 1: So you're up first, Jennifer. Question number one for you.
- 21:09Speaker 1: Can you tell me the fast food chain that used
- 21:12Speaker 1: the slogan, Where's the Beef? Was it A, Burger King, B, Arby's,
- 21:16Speaker 1: or C, Wendy's?
- 21:18Speaker 2: Wendy's.
- 21:19Speaker 1: That'd be Wendy's.
- 21:20Speaker 3: Got it.
- 21:22Speaker 1: 1-0, Jennifer.
- 21:23Speaker 2: And here we go, Phil. Which country is the origin
- 21:26Speaker 2: of the cocktail Mojito? Is it A, Cuba, B, Mexico, C,
- 21:31Speaker 2: Dominican Republic?
- 21:33Speaker 3: Oh, gosh. I'm guessing Cuba.
- 21:36Speaker 2: And that's a great guess. You've got it. One, two, one.
- 21:39Speaker 1: Hey, Jennifer, did you watch the Emmys on Monday night?
- 21:43Speaker 4: No, but I watched some of the highlights.
- 21:46Speaker 1: Okay. Do you know who hosted the Emmys Monday night?
- 21:48Speaker 1: Was it A, Mariska Hargitay, B, Jennifer Hudson, or C,
- 21:52Speaker 1: Conan O'Brien?
- 21:54Speaker 4: It was A.
- 21:55Speaker 1: It was A. 2-1, Jennifer.
- 21:58Speaker 2: Phil, which of these superhero film series does Tom Hardy
- 22:01Speaker 2: star in? A, Venom, B, Deadpool, or C, Shazam?
- 22:06Speaker 3: That would be Venom.
- 22:10Speaker 2: Can you repeat it, Phil?
- 22:11Speaker 3: Sorry, Venom.
- 22:13Speaker 2: Venom, A, Venom, and you are correct, sir.
- 22:15Speaker 1: Got a good game here, don't we, Christine?
- 22:17Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 22:17Speaker 1: It is 2-2. Jennifer, will you go three for three?
- 22:20Speaker 1: Let's find out. What college football team does quarterback Arch
- 22:23Speaker 1: Manning play for? Of course, he's the nephew to Peyton
- 22:26Speaker 1: and Eli Manning. Is it A, University of Tennessee, B,
- 22:30Speaker 1: University of Michigan, or C, University of Texas?
- 22:35Speaker 4: That's C, University of Texas.
- 22:38Speaker 2: Oof. Okay.
- 22:40Speaker 1: Those are sports. Three for three.
- 22:41Speaker 2: You got it. Phil, we need this one. What major
- 22:44Speaker 2: league baseball team clinched the playoffs and currently holds the
- 22:47Speaker 2: number one overall seed in the American League? Is it A,
- 22:51Speaker 2: the Boston Red Sox, B, Tampa Bay Rays, or C,
- 22:54Speaker 2: the New York Yankees?
- 22:55Speaker 3: The Yankees. I'm sorry. What was it? What was it?
- 23:02Speaker 3: What was it?
- 23:03Speaker 2: Three. A, Boston Red Sox, B, Tampa Bay Rays, C,
- 23:08Speaker 2: New York Yankees.
- 23:10Speaker 3: A Tampa favorite.
- 23:11Speaker 2: You've got it, and we have ourselves a tie.
- 23:15Speaker 1: Drum roll, please. A tie means it's anybody's game. We're
- 23:19Speaker 1: going to have Kristen, our producer, write down a number
- 23:21Speaker 1: between 1 and 250.
- 23:22Speaker 2: Oh, my goodness.
- 23:24Speaker 1: Okay, she's writing it down.
- 23:26Speaker 2: It's a big number.
- 23:27Speaker 1: Whoever is closest is going to win the game. It
- 23:29Speaker 1: doesn't matter if you go over. You have to be
- 23:31Speaker 1: close to the number that Kristen picks. So what do
- 23:34Speaker 1: you think, Jennifer? What do you think Kristen wrote down?
- 23:36Speaker 4: Okay, I'm going to go with lucky number 26.
- 23:40Speaker 1: Okay. How about you, Phil?
- 23:43Speaker 3: I'm going 48. 48.
- 23:47Speaker 2: Kristen, the big reveal. Kristen has chosen the number 200,
- 23:50Speaker 2: which would make Phil our winner.
- 23:52Speaker 1: Wow.
- 23:53Speaker 3: Yes.
- 23:54Speaker 2: Congratulations, Phil. Jennifer, sorry you played a great game, but
- 23:58Speaker 2: you know you can always call us back, right? Sounds good.
- 24:01Speaker 3: Thank you.
- 24:02Speaker 2: Thank you very much.
- 24:03Speaker 1: Well, Phil, you're going somewhere. You're going to be eating
- 24:05Speaker 1: and drinking.
- 24:05Speaker 2: I know. This is nice. Phil, you have won tickets
- 24:08Speaker 2: to New York City's Ultimate Food and Wine Experience Saturday,
- 24:11Speaker 2: October 17th through Sunday, October 18th. It's the NYC Wine
- 24:15Speaker 2: and Food Festival.
- 24:16Speaker 1: Oh, that's great.
- 24:17Speaker 3: I'm stoked. Thank you so much, guys.
- 24:19Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 24:20Speaker 4: Mort Covey and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 24:24Speaker 4: Next on Light FM.
- 24:24Speaker 1: Your shot at $ 500 in about 90 seconds. Light FM
- 24:26Speaker 1: is on. Thank you for having us on. It's Cubby, Christine,
- 24:31Speaker 1: producer Kristen. This is exciting, Christine. In 48 hours at
- 24:35Speaker 1: 8 a.m. on Friday morning, I have been told Clay
- 24:39Speaker 1: Aiken will be here live in studio.
- 24:40Speaker 2: Nice.
- 24:41Speaker 1: Clay Aiken on the second season of American Idol back
- 24:44Speaker 1: in 2003. He finished as a runner-up. Uh-huh. Behind Ruben Studdard,
- 24:49Speaker 1: if you remember that.
- 24:49Speaker 2: Oh, that was such a big, yes, that was like
- 24:51Speaker 2: we were all following that one.
- 24:53Speaker 1: So what's Clay Aiken up to? Well, rumor has it
- 24:55Speaker 1: he has a brand new song. And actually, I've heard it.
- 24:57Speaker 1: It's amazing. So we'll have him live in studio at
- 25:00Speaker 1: 8 o'clock. And speaking of Idol.
- 25:02Speaker 2: Yeah, this is a huge change for American Idol. They're
- 25:05Speaker 2: moving their 25th season to Georgia. Okay. Marking the end
- 25:10Speaker 2: of an era in L.A. The shift highlights ongoing struggles
- 25:13Speaker 2: for Hollywood companies. where production levels are dropping, competition from
- 25:16Speaker 2: other states is rising. So.
- 25:19Speaker 1: It'll be kind of weird for the auditions, because auditions,
- 25:22Speaker 1: you know, they happen all over the country. So you
- 25:24Speaker 1: could be like, I don't know, at MetLife Stadium or
- 25:26Speaker 1: here in Jersey, New York, whatever, and they'll be, they'll
- 25:29Speaker 1: say something like, you're going to Hollywood.
- 25:31Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 25:31Speaker 1: But now they're going to be like, you're going to Atlanta.
- 25:37Speaker 1: No offense to Atlanta, but.
- 25:38Speaker 2: We've got the golden ticket to.
- 25:39Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 25:39Speaker 2: It doesn't have that... It's not quite the same.
- 25:41Speaker 1: Flashy, you know, Hollywood. Right.
- 25:43Speaker 2: We think of Hollywood is where all the movies and
- 25:46Speaker 2: TV shows.
- 25:46Speaker 1: But Georgia, you know, they have a lot of things
- 25:48Speaker 1: going on in Georgia.
- 25:49Speaker 2: Oh, they've been filming a lot in Georgia. Like, you know,
- 25:52Speaker 2: Walking Dead, a lot of shows have been filmed there.
- 25:53Speaker 2: Family Feud. Family Feud, too.
- 25:55Speaker 1: Family Feud's there. Yes, Steve Harvey does it from Atlanta.
- 25:58Speaker 2: How about New Jersey, though?
- 25:59Speaker 1: Well, yeah, we're doing okay. We're doing okay, aren't we?
- 26:02Speaker 2: Yeah, there's a lot. Kevin Hart has been filming in
- 26:04Speaker 2: Red Bank. We've seen Nicole Kidman in Madison. She's filming
- 26:09Speaker 2: there at a coffee shop. I don't know how she
- 26:11Speaker 2: went from the Emmys in L.A. to Madison the next day, but.
- 26:14Speaker 1: You know, probably a private jet.
- 26:15Speaker 2: Something like that. Must be nice. One of my favorite shows, Severance,
- 26:19Speaker 2: is filming once again at Bellworks in Holmdel. You've got.
- 26:22Speaker 1: I think about you all the time, by the way.
- 26:24Speaker 2: Oh, that's such.
- 26:25Speaker 1: I love that show. I drive through there every Monday.
- 26:26Speaker 2: You do?
- 26:27Speaker 1: Because Naomi has a German class near there.
- 26:29Speaker 3: Oh.
- 26:29Speaker 1: And I always think of you because you've never been
- 26:31Speaker 1: over there. No, I haven't. It's really cool.
- 26:32Speaker 2: I just want to see the building. But yeah, they've
- 26:34Speaker 2: been shooting in there so I don't know how open
- 26:36Speaker 2: it's been for everybody else. Netflix, coming to Monmouth County,
- 26:40Speaker 2: they're building massive studios there. Studios have been Going up
- 26:43Speaker 2: in Kearney, New Jersey, so.
- 26:45Speaker 1: Things are changing. It's not just about Hollywood anymore, right?
- 26:48Speaker 3: All right.
- 26:49Speaker 1: How about this, Christine? Behold the traitors, New Blood, where
- 26:54Speaker 1: for the first time, Emmy-winning host Alan Cumming opens his
- 26:58Speaker 1: infamous castle doors to 22 everyday Americans. From among them,
- 27:03Speaker 1: he will choose who will play as traitors and who
- 27:06Speaker 1: must survive as faithful traitors.
- 27:08Speaker 2: Now to celebrate the treachery and deceit, Caller 10 will
- 27:11Speaker 2: win $ 500, 800-222-1067. The Traitor's New Blood debuts with a
- 27:18Speaker 2: special two-hour extended premiere Thursday, tomorrow at 8, only on
- 27:23Speaker 2: NBC New York. A word of caution. Don't be late.
- 27:26Speaker 1: I love that last line. Say that one more time.
- 27:28Speaker 2: A word of caution. Don't be late.
- 27:31Speaker 3: Yes.
- 27:34Speaker 1: Behold the Traitor's New Blood. An amazing show on NBC.
- 27:39Speaker 2: I'm looking forward to this one.
- 27:41Speaker 1: I like this music. I got kind of the chills
- 27:43Speaker 1: going on.
- 27:44Speaker 2: Yeah. It's pretty majestic.
- 27:48Speaker 1: Coming up next, three hours commercial free. But win that
- 27:52Speaker 1: cash now.
