- 0:00Speaker 1: Off the Bench with Jacob Hester and Matt Flynn. Okay,
- 0:04Speaker 1: here we go. Where the plays get broken down and
- 0:06Speaker 1: science gets denied. Dude, they said I gotta come off
- 0:09Speaker 1: the bench. Hour two of.
- 0:10Speaker 2: Off the Bench, live from the Raising Cane Studio.
- 0:54Speaker 1: Welcome back in.
- 0:58Speaker 3: Our two of OTV here live from the Razor Cane studio.
- 1:01Speaker 3: Of course, Monday shows brought to you by our friends
- 1:03Speaker 3: over at Bayou Automotive. BayouAutomotive.com down in La Paz, Louisiana.
- 1:06Speaker 3: Go see them today, either in La Paz, Louisiana, or
- 1:09Speaker 3: go to BayouAutomotive.com. Either way, you can buy a vehicle
- 1:13Speaker 3: of your dreams. Ford Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram. A little
- 1:17Speaker 3: bit of air thing down there in La Paz.
- 1:21Speaker 1: Vroom, vroom. Vroom, vroom.
- 1:23Speaker 3: Well, that's what LSU was doing on Saturday night. A
- 1:25Speaker 3: lot cranked up the diesel. A lot cranked up the diesel.
- 1:30Speaker 3: A lot of different plays that we could talk about.
- 1:34Speaker 3: The cross dog on defense that you and I were
- 1:35Speaker 3: talking about.
- 1:37Speaker 1: Loved it. Loved the football IQ within the play. It
- 1:41Speaker 1: was so sexy. It was. On so many levels. Because,
- 1:44Speaker 1: I mean, we'll get to that play. Actually, I got
- 1:47Speaker 1: it pulled up on my little clips here. You got
- 1:49Speaker 1: that one?
- 1:49Speaker 3: All right.
- 1:50Speaker 1: I think so.
- 1:51Speaker 3: This is your time to shine, sir. I'm going to
- 1:54Speaker 3: pass the old film remote over to you.
- 1:56Speaker 1: Finally, we can do something on this radio station that
- 1:58Speaker 1: I'm good at.
- 2:00Speaker 2: We do live reads every day.
- 2:02Speaker 1: That's a great live read. Yeah. So there is, I mean,
- 2:07Speaker 1: you could probably go through this game tape and 95%
- 2:11Speaker 1: of the plays out there. You could look at it
- 2:15Speaker 1: as an LSU fan and be like, wow, that was
- 2:17Speaker 1: really good. You can pick something out on most of
- 2:20Speaker 1: these plays. That is really good. Now I have chose
- 2:24Speaker 1: a couple here just to highlight a couple of different
- 2:28Speaker 1: things that I see. that sticks out to me on
- 2:32Speaker 1: first glance, just going through it. And this is really
- 2:34Speaker 1: early in the game too. So, and we're going to
- 2:36Speaker 1: do a bigger film review tomorrow on a, um, we'll
- 2:42Speaker 1: look at film throughout the week here on this show,
- 2:44Speaker 1: but I think we're going to do a little, little
- 2:46Speaker 1: side film view tomorrow that we might have for our,
- 2:49Speaker 1: our listeners and viewers out there. Um, but yeah, let's, uh, Taylor,
- 2:52Speaker 1: let's see if we can go to, we'll just go
- 2:54Speaker 1: through a couple. I got three or four plays and
- 2:56Speaker 1: it starts with a very first play of the game.
- 2:58Speaker 1: I'll kind of hit on it earlier. um, about kind
- 3:02Speaker 1: of what we saw last year compared to this year,
- 3:05Speaker 1: last year, our offensive line could not do anything to
- 3:11Speaker 1: pass off different blitzers. So what we're going to start,
- 3:13Speaker 1: this is first play of the game. So we're going
- 3:14Speaker 1: to start out with a little shift situation. Uh, we're
- 3:17Speaker 1: shifting everybody out. Oh my gosh. You got four receivers,
- 3:20Speaker 1: eligible receiver strong. You got one-on-one backside. This is what
- 3:23Speaker 1: we talked about. Um, and of course we start out
- 3:25Speaker 1: great little, it's easy. This is easy money right here.
- 3:29Speaker 1: They're playing man to man coverage. You can tell by
- 3:31Speaker 1: the way the defensive line moves with the shift. They're
- 3:35Speaker 1: all fine. They're all pointing to a guy. You can
- 3:36Speaker 1: tell body language there. You got one-on-one backside. This is
- 3:39Speaker 1: an easy read. First play of the game. You go left, right.
- 3:41Speaker 1: You throw a slant backside. Perfect. Okay, great. Yeah, that
- 3:45Speaker 1: was successful. But why was this like, what got me
- 3:48Speaker 1: excited about this play? Well, I want you to watch
- 3:50Speaker 1: your left tackle right here. So when I talk about
- 3:53Speaker 1: games that the defensive line can play. We're talking about ETs,
- 3:57Speaker 1: some TEs, some EEs. What does that mean? Defensive tackle, T,
- 4:01Speaker 1: defensive end, E. When they do games, they cross each other.
- 4:05Speaker 1: So the defensive tackle might go first and try to
- 4:09Speaker 1: hit the offensive tackle and the defensive end loops under.
- 4:11Speaker 1: Why do they want to do that? Because the tackle
- 4:14Speaker 1: and the guard on the offensive side, they got to
- 4:16Speaker 1: pass it off. They can't just block the guy in
- 4:18Speaker 1: front of them. The left tackle's going to set for
- 4:20Speaker 1: the end, but he goes inside. Now he's got to
- 4:22Speaker 1: move over to the tackle. Why is that a big deal?
- 4:25Speaker 1: It sounds pretty simple, right? Well, it wasn't simple for
- 4:27Speaker 1: an entire season last year. And also, I want to
- 4:30Speaker 1: highlight your new five-star plus. If you could give two
- 4:33Speaker 1: pluses to a recruit, I get the plus now. Because
- 4:36Speaker 1: the guy's a man-child, and the guy's really good. And
- 4:38Speaker 1: not just because he looks good, and he's big and
- 4:41Speaker 1: strong and physical, because he's smart. He understands very quickly.
- 4:45Speaker 1: So I want you to watch this game. This is.
- 4:47Speaker 3: And the T-E is the tackle going first and the
- 4:50Speaker 3: N being the looper. If it was the E-T, it
- 4:53Speaker 3: would be the N kind of crashing and the tackle
- 4:55Speaker 3: looping around him. That's why it's different letters based off
- 4:59Speaker 3: who's going first. So I want you to watch the
- 5:01Speaker 3: left guard, left tackle. The first person to notice it
- 5:05Speaker 3: is the left tackle because he has the looper in
- 5:08Speaker 3: front of him, so he's the first to see it.
- 5:10Speaker 1: So we have a shift here. And I want you
- 5:13Speaker 1: to watch the speed of which they identify... And move. Boom.
- 5:18Speaker 1: As soon as he sees him go in, boom. Check
- 5:23Speaker 1: this out. And I want you to watch something real subtle, too.
- 5:25Speaker 1: I want you to watch as soon as he realizes it,
- 5:28Speaker 1: he taps this guy on the shoulder. Real subtle. Real subtle.
- 5:34Speaker 1: But this is a coaching point that you're given by
- 5:36Speaker 1: the coaches. When you see somebody, boom, you tap your guy.
- 5:41Speaker 1: Or if you're close to him, you nudge him with
- 5:42Speaker 1: your elbow so he knows. That's telling him, hey, get
- 5:44Speaker 1: back to your spot. Somebody's coming for you. And watch him.
- 5:47Speaker 1: He sets out, and then as soon as he gets tapped,
- 5:49Speaker 1: he looks inside. Boom. All right, we got him. And
- 5:53Speaker 1: that first play of the game told me our offensive
- 5:56Speaker 1: line was the real deal, told me that Jordan Seaton
- 5:58Speaker 1: was the real deal as well.
- 6:00Speaker 3: All right. And also, they worked on something that was
- 6:03Speaker 3: a huge problem for them last year, and Clemson watches tape.
- 6:07Speaker 1: Yep. Right?
- 6:08Speaker 3: It's a new team. It's a new offense. But they said,
- 6:10Speaker 3: you know what? Some of these guys that played last year,
- 6:13Speaker 3: They were bad at handling any kind of games from
- 6:16Speaker 3: the defensive line.
- 6:17Speaker 1: Let's see what they got. The first two plays of
- 6:18Speaker 1: the game, they did it. All right. We're going to
- 6:21Speaker 1: go to the second play. And okay. I showed you
- 6:23Speaker 1: that first play. Like, well, of course he did that.
- 6:25Speaker 1: He was a five star plus that guy. He, that's
- 6:28Speaker 1: why we brought him here to LSU. So he could
- 6:31Speaker 1: pick those types of things up. The guys last year,
- 6:34Speaker 1: they were terrible, right? Well, let's go to another club.
- 6:37Speaker 1: How about Mr. Weston Davis at right tackle? Okay. Um,
- 6:42Speaker 1: What did we struggle with last year, Jake? I think
- 6:44Speaker 1: I just told you a couple seconds ago. Yeah, I
- 6:47Speaker 1: think it was games by the defensive line. First of all,
- 6:49Speaker 1: I want you to just notice the route combination. We
- 6:52Speaker 1: got a little simple slot receiver out route to the
- 6:56Speaker 1: left side. I'm assuming if we got man-to-man, might be
- 6:58Speaker 1: going to the out route to the bottom. But we
- 7:00Speaker 1: got zone coverage here. And so we got a little
- 7:03Speaker 1: post-dig route. Strong side. It's beautiful. It's beautiful. Nothing wrong
- 7:12Speaker 1: with this. You got a couple different reads. This guy
- 7:16Speaker 1: works strong side, so you work back side. Boom. Great throw.
- 7:20Speaker 1: Trey Dez, 6'7, 243. Not a big deal. But what
- 7:25Speaker 1: got me excited was, oh, they weren't very good last year.
- 7:29Speaker 1: Just the offensive line, the personnel can't cut it because
- 7:31Speaker 1: they can't pick up games. Watch our guy, Weston Davis.
- 7:35Speaker 1: I want to give him all the credit because we
- 7:36Speaker 1: hated on him a lot last year. Okay? Yeah. As
- 7:39Speaker 1: soon as he notices the game, he notices it, blink
- 7:43Speaker 1: of an eye. And what does he do? Does he
- 7:45Speaker 1: go and does he belly bump somebody? No, you play
- 7:47Speaker 1: with authority. You play with energy. Watch my guy right here. Oh,
- 7:51Speaker 1: loops inside. Bow. Stick your face in his face with authority.
- 7:57Speaker 1: And then who's my left? Who's my left? Right guard
- 8:00Speaker 1: right here. Who's this guy? It's a Leo Bob. Okay. Yep.
- 8:05Speaker 1: Check this out. Weston Davis, give him a little nudge.
- 8:07Speaker 1: Give him a little nudge. Boom. Then he anchors. Then
- 8:11Speaker 1: he anchors. Check that out. Watch the anchor. Guard, you
- 8:13Speaker 1: got to have a great anchor. Why does a guard
- 8:15Speaker 1: in the center have to have a great anchor? Because
- 8:17Speaker 1: they get pushed up the middle. I love it. Anchor
- 8:21Speaker 1: and throw.
- 8:22Speaker 3: I was about to say, I love where he puts
- 8:23Speaker 3: the ball on the dig route there. Even with trade
- 8:26Speaker 3: as kind of drifting upfield a little bit, what you'd
- 8:29Speaker 3: like to see him maybe come a little bit more
- 8:31Speaker 3: straight across.
- 8:31Speaker 1: It's still.
- 8:32Speaker 3: Yep.
- 8:32Speaker 1: Because when he throws it, he throws it right here.
- 8:35Speaker 1: He's not open. No. Right? Look at this. Look down here. Actually,
- 8:39Speaker 1: the DB. Move your big head. Move your big head. Oh,
- 8:41Speaker 1: it's really big, too. He's not open right there, but
- 8:43Speaker 1: you throw him into a window. You know your guy
- 8:45Speaker 1: has better momentum going towards the middle of the field.
- 8:48Speaker 1: And guess what?
- 8:49Speaker 3: What else we do on this play that we didn't
- 8:51Speaker 3: do a year ago? What's the fastest way to the
- 8:53Speaker 3: end zone? In the middle of the football field. Over
- 8:55Speaker 3: the middle of the field. Attack the middle. And that's
- 9:00Speaker 3: what you do.
- 9:01Speaker 1: It's crazy.
- 9:01Speaker 3: I wonder who took the police tape from this hash
- 9:04Speaker 3: mark from a year ago.
- 9:05Speaker 1: It's crazy. Got a man for a man. Got two
- 9:08Speaker 1: men right here for one. This guy's blocking a defensive end.
- 9:12Speaker 1: This guy's blocking a defensive tackle. Yep, that's right. They
- 9:15Speaker 1: switched them. And it's a beautiful thing. And I love
- 9:17Speaker 1: it when a well-coached offensive team executes well. All right,
- 9:22Speaker 1: here we go. We've talked about it. You've seen it
- 9:25Speaker 1: on the socials, the end zone copy of the pick six. Mr.
- 9:30Speaker 1: Jordan Ross. Have a day, sir. Have a day. Have
- 9:34Speaker 1: a freaking day. And it all starts right here. That
- 9:37Speaker 1: guy is fast, fast.
- 9:40Speaker 3: They tried to get to the edge a couple of
- 9:41Speaker 3: different times, and the edge defender was waiting on the
- 9:45Speaker 3: running back or receiver.
- 9:46Speaker 1: Yeah. Whatever they were trying to do. What position does
- 9:48Speaker 1: he play? Edge. He plays edge. When he gets the ball,
- 9:52Speaker 1: you're trying to tell me he's not a defensive back?
- 9:55Speaker 1: That's right. My God. Okay. So, um let's just go
- 9:57Speaker 1: the end zone copy.
- 9:59Speaker 3: And i'm gonna full disclosure like when i saw this
- 10:02Speaker 3: as it's happening i'm like oh was that a did
- 10:04Speaker 3: they bring some kind of a zone blitz and and
- 10:07Speaker 3: drop this edge rusher into coverage but this was not
- 10:11Speaker 3: that this was a great play.
- 10:13Speaker 1: Design we'll watch it from the end zone that we
- 10:14Speaker 1: can go back to the wide copy as well so
- 10:16Speaker 1: like look this is scat protection I call it scat protection.
- 10:20Speaker 1: I don't know what you call it. I call it,
- 10:22Speaker 1: it's a five-man protection. The running back is scatting out
- 10:25Speaker 1: of there, right? So he doesn't have any protection responsibility.
- 10:28Speaker 1: He is free. All right, you got your shade right
- 10:29Speaker 1: here to the left. The left guard, left tackle are
- 10:32Speaker 1: going to perform what's called a duel or a big
- 10:36Speaker 1: duel block. It seems to be that they declare Mike Wright.
- 10:40Speaker 1: So you got a five-man protection. You're going to block
- 10:42Speaker 1: four down plus one more. You can't declare both of
- 10:45Speaker 1: these guys. So you're going to declare the four down linemen.
- 10:48Speaker 1: which boom, boom, boom, boom. Plus one defense. So they
- 10:52Speaker 1: declare Mike right. Yep. Okay. So that means the left side,
- 10:57Speaker 1: the center is going to work to the right. Okay.
- 10:59Speaker 1: The center is going to work to the right. So
- 11:01Speaker 1: the left side, they have two for three. Okay. They
- 11:04Speaker 1: got two blocking three. They're going to perform a big
- 11:07Speaker 1: dual situation. If the backer blitzes in the A or
- 11:11Speaker 1: B gap, the tackle blocks down. Okay. Cause the, Because
- 11:15Speaker 1: you'd rather have a man free off the edge than
- 11:17Speaker 1: have a man free through the A and B gap.
- 11:20Speaker 1: So if he blocks, if he comes in, they're going
- 11:22Speaker 1: to block the tackle and the linebacker. If he doesn't come,
- 11:25Speaker 1: tackle kicks out. Now, he does not do a very
- 11:29Speaker 1: good job here of that big dual situation because he
- 11:33Speaker 1: did not squeeze immediately when Witt goes. So what's going
- 11:38Speaker 1: to happen here? We're going to run what we call
- 11:40Speaker 1: a cross dog. Cross dog situation. Love a cross dog.
- 11:43Speaker 3: Cross dog, all it is is your two middle linebackers
- 11:46Speaker 3: in the middle of your defense are literally crossing. It
- 11:48Speaker 3: is called a cross dog.
- 11:51Speaker 1: Yep, yep, yep, yep, yep. Okay, so, okay, I was wrong.
- 11:55Speaker 1: They did not declare Mike right. They declared Mike left.
- 11:58Speaker 1: So I really don't know what the left tackle is doing.
- 12:00Speaker 1: The left tackle just absolutely busts because they go Mike left.
- 12:03Speaker 1: You can tell right here. The right side of the
- 12:05Speaker 1: line is performing the big duel, and they do it
- 12:07Speaker 1: pretty well. So left tackle made a big mistake here.
- 12:13Speaker 1: And then he tried to make up for it. It
- 12:14Speaker 1: looks like late. Yeah. You know what I'm saying? Yeah.
- 12:17Speaker 1: That's okay. They didn't get over to it. We did
- 12:20Speaker 1: a great cross-dog here. So what's going to happen here?
- 12:23Speaker 1: So you call this. We were kind of talking about
- 12:25Speaker 1: what we'd call this. I'd call this nickel 42. That
- 12:27Speaker 1: tells you what the defense is. You've got four down linemen,
- 12:29Speaker 1: two linebackers. I would call this 11. Cross-dog 11F is
- 12:36Speaker 1: what I would call it. 11 just means in nickel
- 12:39Speaker 1: you're playing cover one. You've got man-to-man coverage, one single hot.
- 12:43Speaker 1: F says it's a four man rush. So this is
- 12:45Speaker 1: what the announcers like to call simulated pressure. Yeah. You
- 12:48Speaker 1: bring what is pressure. You bring blitzes from the linebackers,
- 12:51Speaker 1: but you're still only rushing four. So you still have
- 12:54Speaker 1: seven in coverage. Right. So what you're going to tell
- 12:57Speaker 1: your defensive ends here and what I'm calling a cross
- 13:01Speaker 1: dog F. Yeah. Okay. I don't know what Blake calls.
- 13:04Speaker 1: I don't know what other people call it. It's what
- 13:05Speaker 1: I call it. Yeah. So cross dog F means that
- 13:08Speaker 1: both ends are going to be dropping. Yeah. Now, if
- 13:11Speaker 1: they scat the back, The end to the backside will
- 13:16Speaker 1: carry him man to man. The end away from the
- 13:19Speaker 1: back is going to drop into coverage. And there's only
- 13:21Speaker 1: so far you can drop. But college football, they love
- 13:25Speaker 1: running shallow crosses these days. They run the mesh concept
- 13:29Speaker 1: with the guy spotting over the ball, the two people
- 13:31Speaker 1: meshing across. So, yes, Clemson likes to do that as well,
- 13:34Speaker 1: especially with young quarterbacks and a big down and distance.
- 13:36Speaker 1: We're going to give them a safety net of a
- 13:39Speaker 1: short crosser. So drop in the crossing lanes. So, of course,
- 13:45Speaker 1: that's what happened. The defensive end to the right carries
- 13:48Speaker 1: a man, drops in the crossers. You never see him coming.
- 13:50Speaker 1: And let me tell you, this is extremely hard to
- 13:52Speaker 1: see for NFL quarterbacks. The best NFL quarterbacks. It's extremely
- 13:56Speaker 1: hard to see for anybody. Just think about that. You
- 13:59Speaker 1: can't see a defensive lineman that had his Hand in
- 14:02Speaker 1: the ground.
- 14:02Speaker 3: And did a good job of, like, taking a step
- 14:04Speaker 3: towards the line of scrimmage.
- 14:05Speaker 1: So, yeah, he goes because if– so the reason why
- 14:09Speaker 1: this is his technique at defensive end is because if
- 14:12Speaker 1: they did declare Mike Wright, you go up the field
- 14:15Speaker 1: to maybe you catch this guy off guard and he
- 14:18Speaker 1: sets to you and then he's late. Which he did.
- 14:20Speaker 1: Which he did.
- 14:21Speaker 3: And just based off Jordan Ross' eyes and his head,
- 14:26Speaker 3: they are taught to opposite of the back, whichever way
- 14:29Speaker 3: he goes– Umami Allen takes him, and we just call
- 14:32Speaker 3: this a peel. I don't know what Blake calls it,
- 14:34Speaker 3: but you peel off, and you go get into coverage,
- 14:37Speaker 3: and you go get to what you said. You go
- 14:39Speaker 3: get into that lane right there, knowing about the shallow crossers,
- 14:42Speaker 3: because his head looks like, to me, just from that copy,
- 14:45Speaker 3: that's exactly what he's looking at. He's looking at the
- 14:47Speaker 3: running back, and as soon as he sees him and
- 14:50Speaker 3: he drops into coverage and knows he's got that zone
- 14:52Speaker 3: right there.
- 14:52Speaker 1: And there's a little bit of risk that comes with
- 14:54Speaker 1: running defenses like this. You've got the back running a
- 14:56Speaker 1: wheel route versus a defensive man. That's not a matchup
- 14:59Speaker 1: you normally want, but you're making the gamble that we're
- 15:02Speaker 1: going to get home before you can make any of
- 15:04Speaker 1: those decisions.
- 15:04Speaker 3: You are, and look, it's an aggressive call. So cover one,
- 15:07Speaker 3: it's a man concept. Like you are man across the board, right?
- 15:11Speaker 3: And you end up bringing four, like Matt said. Now
- 15:13Speaker 3: it looks like you're going to bring six, but you're
- 15:15Speaker 3: bringing four, so you're trying to confuse the offensive line.
- 15:18Speaker 1: And, again, only one person in this play. Well, actually two.
- 15:21Speaker 3: Your deep safety, obviously, in the cover one portion of it.
- 15:24Speaker 3: But the other zone player is going to be the
- 15:27Speaker 3: backside edge rusher. So everybody else is man across the board.
- 15:31Speaker 3: So if you have a quarterback that's not very experienced
- 15:33Speaker 3: like Clemson had, he's thinking man, man, man. And he's
- 15:36Speaker 3: thinking the only guy in zone coverage is that single
- 15:39Speaker 3: high safety.
- 15:39Speaker 1: This is cover one. I'm good. This guy's got to
- 15:42Speaker 1: step on the defender. Let me throw it out in
- 15:44Speaker 1: front of him.
- 15:45Speaker 3: Let me allow him to catch it and make a play.
- 15:47Speaker 3: when he has no idea, oh, the edge rusher is
- 15:50Speaker 3: the only other guy that's actually playing zone coverage.
- 15:53Speaker 1: All right, last one here. I know we are up
- 15:54Speaker 1: on a break here in a second, but I had
- 15:56Speaker 1: to play this because we have, I would say, wasted
- 16:01Speaker 1: many days of our lives talking about this, and I
- 16:03Speaker 1: wanted to show it to you. Are you ready? Do
- 16:06Speaker 1: you have your Kleenex? Got your? They down. They down.
- 16:11Speaker 1: All right, so check this out. I just want you
- 16:13Speaker 1: to watch what this right guard does. Oh, my God.
- 16:15Speaker 1: Did he pull? He pulled. No. That's allowed? It's allowed.
- 16:21Speaker 1: This is what you call power.
- 16:23Speaker 3: Now, I want you to know that normally he might
- 16:27Speaker 3: block up in the hole. If there's a nine technique
- 16:29Speaker 3: to this left side, Trey Dez is going to block
- 16:32Speaker 3: that defensive end and the guard will pull up to
- 16:34Speaker 3: the second level linebacker. You can correct me if I'm
- 16:37Speaker 3: wrong here, if I'm misspeaking here, but because he's in
- 16:40Speaker 3: kind of like a wide seven technique, Trey Dez is
- 16:43Speaker 3: going to avoid him, and go to the next level
- 16:46Speaker 3: because it's a little– this defensive end is inside, so
- 16:48Speaker 3: it's harder for this guard to pull in and get
- 16:50Speaker 3: inside of him.
- 16:51Speaker 1: It'll be easier for the tight end. Now, if he
- 16:53Speaker 1: was a wide nine or even a little bit shaded
- 16:55Speaker 1: on the outside of the tight end of Trey Dez,
- 16:58Speaker 1: Trey Dez would probably take him, kick him out. Kick
- 17:00Speaker 1: him out. So at that point– and they're making these calls,
- 17:04Speaker 1: so that call's going down the line to him. So
- 17:07Speaker 1: now he knows pre-snap that, okay, they didn't get– there's
- 17:10Speaker 1: not a wide nine. Trey Dez is going to go
- 17:12Speaker 1: second level. I got to kick out.
- 17:14Speaker 3: And it's going to speed things up for that right
- 17:16Speaker 3: guard because it's a little bit closer to him.
- 17:18Speaker 1: So he's got to know immediately. And this isn't just
- 17:19Speaker 1: something he reacts to on the fly, like, oh, there's Cullen,
- 17:21Speaker 1: I've got to block. He knows this. If you're well coached,
- 17:24Speaker 1: he knows this pre-snap. And guess what? We ran power, folks.
- 17:28Speaker 1: Kick them out. See ya. Blocking down the field. Wide
- 17:32Speaker 1: receivers blocking down the field. Go back real quick. I
- 17:34Speaker 1: know we've got to take a break. Go back real quick.
- 17:36Speaker 3: I love the path that Jones, like the path that
- 17:41Speaker 3: Dylan Jones takes right here.
- 17:42Speaker 1: A-gap.
- 17:43Speaker 3: Right.
- 17:43Speaker 1: A gap until something takes you out of it. Look,
- 17:45Speaker 1: I'm a gap, a gap, a gap. All right.
- 17:47Speaker 3: Then he sees the safety number six who is taking
- 17:50Speaker 3: that gap and he sets him up and then he
- 17:52Speaker 3: just goes outside because he's a gap until something takes
- 17:55Speaker 3: him out of it.
- 17:56Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 17:56Speaker 3: And the thing that took him out of it was
- 17:58Speaker 3: this safety jumping and kind of overplaying it.
- 18:00Speaker 1: So you press it. I'd even like to see like
- 18:02Speaker 1: one more step and then bounce it out. Jordan Seaton,
- 18:05Speaker 1: great job getting double-teaming, giving presence to the left guard,
- 18:08Speaker 1: getting up to the second level. I'd like Trey Dez
- 18:10Speaker 1: to give that same technique to the backer to get
- 18:13Speaker 1: up on the safety here. You see this presence right here.
- 18:16Speaker 1: He's going to give him a shoulder, then get up.
- 18:17Speaker 1: I'd like to see Trey Dez give him that outside
- 18:19Speaker 1: shoulder to get up to the safety. But he ends
- 18:22Speaker 1: up getting there. Safety does make the play. Let's not
- 18:26Speaker 1: be too picky.
- 18:28Speaker 3: And that is what you call a power. I know
- 18:32Speaker 3: LSU fans, for a long time, it was a, Staple
- 18:35Speaker 3: in your offense. It went away completely last year, and
- 18:38Speaker 3: that's how you get it done.
- 18:39Speaker 1: Yay. That made me happy watching. All right. We will
- 18:45Speaker 1: take a break. Yay. The Tigers. Much more when we
- 18:48Speaker 1: come back here live from the Raising Cane Studio. Off

- 19:39Speaker 1: injury attorney, that is there to fight for you and
- 19:42Speaker 1: get exactly what you deserve. So nobody really knows what
- 19:44Speaker 1: to do in these situations, but what you should do
- 19:47Speaker 1: is call the eights, 888-8888, or go to get Gordon.com.
- 19:50Speaker 1: That's get Gordon.com. Make up your mind.
- 20:05Speaker 2: Off the Bench with Hester and Flynn, presented by Bayou Automotive.

- 21:15Speaker 1: Pala group.com. All right.
- 21:19Speaker 3: One of the touchdowns that we want to highlight here
- 21:21Speaker 3: as we do one more play here for you.
- 21:25Speaker 1: So if you can. Go ahead. I don't have the cord.
- 21:28Speaker 1: You are disconnected over here, buddy.
- 21:31Speaker 2: Why disconnect it?
- 21:32Speaker 1: Why? Why would you do that? What are you looking
- 21:34Speaker 1: at on your computer that you don't want Taylor to see? Well,
- 21:35Speaker 1: it changes my screen, so when I do plug in,
- 21:37Speaker 1: so you know I have, like, my computer and my screen. Oh,
- 21:41Speaker 1: feels like a lot of stuttering going on right now.
- 21:44Speaker 2: No, I swear.
- 21:45Speaker 1: No, no, no.
- 21:47Speaker 2: You're over-explaining right now.
- 21:48Speaker 1: It was his Wi-Fi. What? It changes both my screens
- 21:51Speaker 1: the same thing. All right, I got it. All right,
- 21:53Speaker 1: hold on, man. Hold on, guy. All right, this is
- 21:57Speaker 1: third quarter. This is a long drive, too. I had
- 21:59Speaker 1: to scroll quite a ways down in the same drive.
- 22:02Speaker 1: A lot of things happen here. So there is obviously
- 22:05Speaker 1: you get lined up. This is why you go fast.
- 22:07Speaker 1: You get lined up. People looking at the sidelines. They
- 22:09Speaker 1: are saying, what's the call going to be? What's happening?
- 22:11Speaker 1: What does coach see? Well, they're talking. They're signaling to
- 22:15Speaker 1: everybody what the play is going to be, what we're
- 22:18Speaker 1: going to change it to. And coach is probably talking
- 22:22Speaker 1: to Mr. Sam Levitt because the speaker does not shut
- 22:25Speaker 1: off in your helmet until either the snap or 15 seconds.
- 22:28Speaker 1: So probably talking to him a little bit. What's going on?
- 22:30Speaker 1: What's the thought process here? So you get to the
- 22:32Speaker 1: line of scrimmage. You got two by two set. You
- 22:36Speaker 1: got Nichol 42. You got two linebackers inside the tackles here,
- 22:41Speaker 1: kind of in that tackle, almost really the guard bubble.
- 22:44Speaker 1: You can tell that there is single high safety. And
- 22:47Speaker 1: you can tell that they're not like showing single high
- 22:50Speaker 1: and going to rotate because of how tight these backers are.
- 22:53Speaker 1: So really, you know, it's going to be single high.
- 22:54Speaker 1: It's not one of these situations where he's going to
- 22:56Speaker 1: come down here and then explode out here. Because if
- 22:58Speaker 1: it was going to be that, with these two receivers
- 23:01Speaker 1: so wide, this guy would be kicked out a little
- 23:03Speaker 1: bit more. He'd be on about the E. So you
- 23:04Speaker 1: know he's not going to kick back into a cloud
- 23:07Speaker 1: situation or it's too high a safety situation. So you
- 23:10Speaker 1: know it's going to be single high. So it's going
- 23:12Speaker 1: to be probably man. You look at this guy's inside leverage.
- 23:15Speaker 1: You've got inside leverage. Usually in cover three, you're not
- 23:18Speaker 1: going to be that inside leverage like that. So they
- 23:24Speaker 1: call a single high beater. You've got a shallow cross here.
- 23:27Speaker 1: We'll just go to it. So everyone's going to line in.
- 23:29Speaker 1: They're going to kick in. They're going to kick in
- 23:31Speaker 1: their splits right here. We've got communication happening right here.
- 23:36Speaker 1: We're motioning across. Right. And so that's where you see, okay,
- 23:40Speaker 1: it created a little bit of confusion. So this might
- 23:42Speaker 1: not be straight man-to-man is my thing.
- 23:47Speaker 3: It feels like they're just trying to do too much, Matt.
- 23:49Speaker 3: It feels like they're trying to pass too much off.
- 23:51Speaker 3: Because then, look, the guy with the motion, and then
- 23:55Speaker 3: he's like, well, you're going to go outside.
- 23:56Speaker 1: I'm going to take. Nope. Wait. It's too late. Yep.
- 23:59Speaker 3: And so I don't know why they were trying to
- 24:02Speaker 3: do that because this guy, number 22, their defensive back,
- 24:06Speaker 3: like it felt like, okay, we're in man because number
- 24:08Speaker 3: one's thinking, okay, well, my guy leads. I'm on trade
- 24:11Speaker 3: as now, and you got to go motion over. He
- 24:13Speaker 3: never commits to it. And then he assumes that somebody
- 24:16Speaker 3: else is going to do it. And then once he
- 24:18Speaker 3: realizes it, it's just too late.
- 24:19Speaker 1: Yeah. They're like, they're trying to, I'm not a thousand
- 24:22Speaker 1: percent sure. This is a straight, like cover one call here.
- 24:25Speaker 1: It might be like a, Three dogs on because they
- 24:28Speaker 1: bring a cross dog bliss. Just like LSU brought cross
- 24:31Speaker 1: dog earlier. They didn't realize we're the best team in
- 24:33Speaker 1: the history of the world to pass off blitzes. Check
- 24:35Speaker 1: this out. Not a big deal. Just watch that offensive
- 24:37Speaker 1: line work. And then, oh, they brought six. Oh, and
- 24:41Speaker 1: who's this guy? They brought six. They didn't drop.
- 24:43Speaker 3: So.
- 24:44Speaker 1: Um, it's probably, it's probably man, but the way they play,
- 24:49Speaker 1: it's either like just really poorly run. I think it's
- 24:51Speaker 1: just poorly. I think they tried to do too much
- 24:53Speaker 1: because usually if it's, if it was just straight man,
- 24:55Speaker 1: this guy'd be a little bit tighter on him. Um,
- 25:03Speaker 1: so I'm not exactly what the call is here, but
- 25:05Speaker 1: of course you run a shallow cross from the backside.
- 25:08Speaker 1: which is great, and that corner takes him. A lot
- 25:10Speaker 1: of times they'll try to pass this off. If they
- 25:12Speaker 1: weren't blitzing, he could pass that off to the linebacker
- 25:14Speaker 1: and get deep. I mean, you don't get much more
- 25:17Speaker 1: open than that. No, and so stop it right there.
- 25:22Speaker 1: And stop.
- 25:24Speaker 3: So I went to practice one day, and there was
- 25:26Speaker 3: a drill that they did of when they were running
- 25:30Speaker 3: and there was a busted coverage or they were so
- 25:33Speaker 3: open because they beat their guy, immediately throw your hand up.
- 25:36Speaker 1: Yes.
- 25:37Speaker 3: And then the quarterbacks threw to him. When they threw it,
- 25:40Speaker 3: they got their eyes to him, they threw it, whatever.
- 25:42Speaker 3: They did it for 10 minutes. And I'm like, I
- 25:44Speaker 3: don't think I've ever seen a drill like this done
- 25:46Speaker 3: that long. It was like 10 minutes of hand up, running,
- 25:49Speaker 3: hand up, running. That's what Watkins does exactly on this play.
- 25:54Speaker 3: Like he's running, he realizes, oh, they have not communicated
- 25:58Speaker 3: this very well. He knows he's running the pylon route,
- 26:00Speaker 3: so he knows where he's going. Quarterback knows where he's going.
- 26:04Speaker 3: A nice job, too, of continuing on your path from
- 26:07Speaker 3: your route and not just like kind of panicking a
- 26:09Speaker 3: little bit, knowing I'm wide open and just continuing on
- 26:12Speaker 3: down the middle of the field, because then the safety
- 26:13Speaker 3: can get involved. And sometimes that happens. You're running wide
- 26:17Speaker 3: open and you think, let me get vertical real quick.
- 26:20Speaker 3: We saw that a little bit in the Louisville game
- 26:21Speaker 3: last night, but no, it's a good job.
- 26:23Speaker 1: Hands up.
- 26:24Speaker 3: It doesn't mean that I run a different route. I
- 26:26Speaker 3: still run my pylon route. I'm just going to put
- 26:28Speaker 3: my hand up and I'm going to keep going. Sam
- 26:31Speaker 3: Leavitt immediately, his eyes are on it. He sees it.
- 26:33Speaker 3: He sees the hand go up, and he doesn't waste.
- 26:36Speaker 3: And look, when you've got six guys coming, you've got
- 26:38Speaker 3: it picked up.
- 26:38Speaker 1: Look at that shell. I mean, that's a perfect shell.
- 26:42Speaker 3: But eventually, like if they send six, somebody's going to
- 26:44Speaker 3: come off a block, hits the back foot, sees it.
- 26:47Speaker 1: We did this right here. This didn't exist last year.
- 26:51Speaker 1: I just want you all to know that. Yeah.
- 26:53Speaker 3: If you're not watching this, he's pointing to, like, there
- 26:54Speaker 3: is a perfect shell of protection.
- 26:56Speaker 1: There's a beautiful pocket. In front of the quarterback. We
- 26:59Speaker 1: block six. They bring six. And you look at it.
- 27:05Speaker 1: This one, I'm not 100% sure it's man-to-man to straight 11.
- 27:08Speaker 1: Because look at his eyes. Look at this guy's eyes.
- 27:10Speaker 1: That's true, too. So I don't know. And look how
- 27:13Speaker 1: far that safety is over. It's not like we have
- 27:15Speaker 1: this dominant number one that they're going to shade. I
- 27:17Speaker 1: think they might be playing. I think they're confused. They
- 27:20Speaker 1: might be trying to play some sort of drop, like
- 27:23Speaker 1: some sort of two. He's cutting. He's cutting. They got
- 27:26Speaker 1: confused because they were in a bunch set, so maybe
- 27:28Speaker 1: him and the guy on the inside, they were like,
- 27:30Speaker 1: we're going to in and out this in a man concept.
- 27:32Speaker 1: These guys trying to pass it off. They tried to
- 27:34Speaker 1: do too much, and then communication went down. They got
- 27:36Speaker 1: mentally dominated. Yeah. So, not a big deal. Touchdown, Tigers. Touchdown,
- 27:41Speaker 1: good guys. Who's this? Who's this right here? Ball boy.
- 27:45Speaker 1: Ball boys. Yeah. Player of the day.
- 27:50Speaker 3: There's a lot of moving parts in that, and I
- 27:53Speaker 3: think just Watkins realizing– to throw his hand up. He
- 27:56Speaker 3: knew they busted the coverage. All of those things, the
- 28:01Speaker 3: motion to see what they're in. They had a breakdown,
- 28:03Speaker 3: but you've got to take advantages of the breakdowns. When
- 28:05Speaker 3: a team messes up, you've got to make them pay.
- 28:08Speaker 3: But again, just going back to the protection of that.
- 28:11Speaker 3: They brought six guys. They brought a cross dog, and
- 28:14Speaker 3: everybody just passed it off.
- 28:16Speaker 1: Boom, boom, boom.
- 28:17Speaker 3: The running back, Stacey Gage, goes across the formation into
- 28:22Speaker 3: the– I think it ended up being an A-gap. and
- 28:25Speaker 3: just stones the linebacker on the cross dog. There's an
- 28:29Speaker 3: incredible pocket. Sam Levitt has time to throw. He delivers
- 28:33Speaker 3: the football. I know that that seems like just a
- 28:36Speaker 3: basic play to a lot of people, a busted coverage.
- 28:39Speaker 1: It's not.
- 28:39Speaker 3: There's so many different things that LSU did well in
- 28:42Speaker 3: that play based off what Clemson did. So, yeah, did
- 28:46Speaker 3: Clemson mess it up? Undoubtedly they did. But you still
- 28:48Speaker 3: got to pick up six guys with six. And you
- 28:51Speaker 3: still got to find that receiver running down. All of
- 28:54Speaker 3: those things have to come together. And that, like Matt said,
- 28:58Speaker 3: that pocket, that shell, just did not see that a
- 29:01Speaker 3: lot last year.
- 29:03Speaker 1: And I hope we painted at least some sort of
- 29:07Speaker 1: resemblance of a picture for those listening just on the radio.
- 29:11Speaker 1: For those on YouTube, you were able to see it.
- 29:13Speaker 1: If you're just listening, you can go back and check
- 29:15Speaker 1: this out. And then, again, tomorrow we are going to
- 29:17Speaker 1: probably be doing a full game film review. maybe sometime
- 29:21Speaker 1: after the show. All right, we will step away.
- 29:27Speaker 3: We do want to give you some up-to-date scores on
- 29:31Speaker 3: some other games across the country, so we'll quickly go
- 29:34Speaker 3: over some of those. Louisville had a barn burner last
- 29:38Speaker 3: night against Ole Miss.
- 29:39Speaker 1: That was a fun game.
- 29:41Speaker 3: Kind of go and watch and to kind of see,
- 29:44Speaker 3: you know, your opponent coming up in a couple of weeks.
- 29:47Speaker 3: The opponent you're playing this week scored 80 points this
- 29:51Speaker 3: weekend against Northwestern State.
- 29:52Speaker 1: They did?
- 29:53Speaker 3: Now Northwestern State's like one for the last 33, but
- 29:55Speaker 3: 80 points is 80 points. So We'll give you some
- 29:58Speaker 3: score updates from across the country, and you know we're
- 30:00Speaker 3: going to find our way back to this LSU game.
- 30:02Speaker 1: And we'll do it all here on OTB.
- 30:05Speaker 3: Off the bench.
- 30:29Speaker 1: Off the Bench with Hester and Flynn, presented by Bayou Automotive.
- 30:35Speaker 3: All right, welcome back in OTV here live from the
- 30:38Speaker 3: Raising Cane Studio. Want to remind you about our friends
- 30:40Speaker 3: over at Rejuvenate Medical, rejuvenatemedical.com. That game on Saturday probably
- 30:45Speaker 3: had you feeling like your youthful self. You had a
- 30:48Speaker 3: bounce in your step, but then you woke up Sunday like,
- 30:50Speaker 3: where'd that go? If you want that bounce in your
- 30:52Speaker 3: step all the time, Well, go to rejuvemedical.com. 13 locations
- 30:56Speaker 3: across Louisiana, one in Mississippi as well.
- 31:00Speaker 1: And they are going to get your labs done.
- 31:02Speaker 3: They're going to have a consultation, get you on a plan,
- 31:04Speaker 3: an incredibly easy process. And again, I tell you all
- 31:07Speaker 3: the time, factual. I did my blood work with Harlow
- 31:10Speaker 3: on my lap. I went back, had the consultation, was
- 31:12Speaker 3: out of there in like 10 minutes. And for like 15,
- 31:16Speaker 3: 20 minutes of your time, you are going to feel
- 31:19Speaker 3: like you have not felt in a very long time.
- 31:20Speaker 1: Go to rejuvemedical.com today.
- 31:25Speaker 3: All right, let's go across real quick the top 25
- 31:28Speaker 3: and give you some of these scores from this past weekend.
- 31:35Speaker 1: Here's some really bad opponents.
- 31:38Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 31:38Speaker 1: You had Utah take care of Idaho 66-14.
- 31:39Speaker 3: You had Missouri beat Arkansas Pine Bluff 54-14. Miami beat
- 31:50Speaker 3: Stanford 45-6. Oklahoma beat UTEP 51-0. USC beat Fresno State 39-0.
- 31:57Speaker 3: Ohio State beat Ball State 56-3. Oregon and Boise had
- 32:02Speaker 3: a pretty good game. That game ended up Oregon wins 34-27.
- 32:09Speaker 3: They had to come back really in the fourth quarter
- 32:11Speaker 3: because at one point, Boise was really putting it on them.
- 32:15Speaker 3: I mean, they led the game, I think, 17-14 going
- 32:18Speaker 3: into the locker room. Boise State did. Boise State's a
- 32:20Speaker 3: good team, so don't get me wrong. But still, Oregon
- 32:23Speaker 3: had a scare there early in the season. Don't really
- 32:25Speaker 3: know why you play that game. It's like a no-win
- 32:28Speaker 3: situation because Boise's that good.
- 32:31Speaker 1: And if you win, you're supposed to. They were good.
- 32:33Speaker 1: And that little quarterback for Boise State was really good, too.
- 32:36Speaker 1: I was impressed. I think he's a four-year starter for them.
- 32:39Speaker 1: He is.
- 32:41Speaker 3: I think since they ran the Statue of Liberty against
- 32:43Speaker 3: Oklahoma in the Fiesta Bowl.
- 32:44Speaker 1: He had a corner out against Mann in the red
- 32:47Speaker 1: zone on a fourth down, and he had to, like,
- 32:50Speaker 1: laser it because the corner dropped off into coverage. He
- 32:55Speaker 1: did it right into pressure. I was impressed by him.
- 32:57Speaker 1: I mean, as good as Naughty Moore was. Like, what
- 33:00Speaker 1: does he think? Yeah, Maddox Maddox, he's really good. Yeah,
- 33:03Speaker 1: he played really well.
- 33:04Speaker 3: Named after Greg Maddox, the baseball pitcher. Him and his
- 33:08Speaker 3: siblings are all named after famous baseball players.
- 33:11Speaker 1: Okay.
- 33:12Speaker 3: There's one after Del Murphy, one after Mickey Mantle, one
- 33:15Speaker 3: after Joe DiMaggio. He's Greg Maddox, and there was another one.
- 33:19Speaker 3: I can't think of what it was, but all named
- 33:22Speaker 3: after famous baseball players. McGuire.
- 33:24Speaker 1: McGuire. Juan Gonzalez. That would be you. That would be awesome.
- 33:28Speaker 1: Can I start calling Huck Gonzalez? Yeah.
- 33:31Speaker 4: Okay.
- 33:32Speaker 3: See if he picks up on it. Georgia beat Tennessee
- 33:35Speaker 3: State 63-3. Texas beat Texas State 59-7. Indiana beat North
- 33:41Speaker 3: Texas 52-16. Texas A & M beat Missouri State. Holy
- 33:45Speaker 3: directional school, you.
- 33:47Speaker 4: 50-9.
- 33:48Speaker 3: Of course, LSU beat Clemson 51-10. Texas Tech beat Abilene
- 33:52Speaker 3: Christian 33-10. Alabama beat East Carolina 48-10. BYU takes care
- 33:59Speaker 3: of the trailblazers of Utah Tech 63-7. Penn State, 45-0
- 34:05Speaker 3: over Marshall. Tennessee, 56-9 over Furman. They all blew out
- 34:10Speaker 3: these small schools, didn't they?
- 34:13Speaker 1: Iowa over Northern Illinois, 40-0.
- 34:15Speaker 3: Houston over Oregon State, 33-20. Notre Dame over Wisconsin, 41-13.
- 34:20Speaker 3: Ole Miss over Louisville, 41-38. Washington over Wazoo, 24-10. And
- 34:27Speaker 3: really the only non-blowout outside of Louisville, Ole Miss.
- 34:31Speaker 1: Michigan.
- 34:31Speaker 3: 13 to 12 over Western Michigan.
- 34:35Speaker 1: You'll see the end of that game. Yeah. That would
- 34:37Speaker 1: have been so fun. Yeah.
- 34:39Speaker 4: All the tweets are making me laugh. Because they're like,
- 34:42Speaker 4: I know there's the game clock. I know there's the
- 34:44Speaker 4: clock on the scoreboard. But you got to listen to
- 34:46Speaker 4: the secret clock that they have upstairs.
- 34:48Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 34:49Speaker 1: I always thought it was when the ball hit the
- 34:52Speaker 1: ground out of bounds. That's what I've always heard. But
- 34:55Speaker 1: they said it was when it hit a plate. It's
- 34:57Speaker 1: a dead ball. Because a player stepped out of bounds. Yeah.
- 34:59Speaker 1: And he was the first to touch it. So it's
- 35:01Speaker 1: a dead ball. Dead ball. So then it becomes you
- 35:03Speaker 1: put one more second on the clock. But it's only
- 35:05Speaker 1: a dead ball if... To me, it's only a dead
- 35:09Speaker 1: ball if he's physically touching out of bounds when he
- 35:12Speaker 1: touches it.
- 35:12Speaker 3: Yes.
- 35:13Speaker 1: It's a penalty. So, yeah, you're right. In that situation, Taylor,
- 35:18Speaker 1: I would have been under the understanding that when the
- 35:20Speaker 1: ball hits the ground. When the ball hits the ground.
- 35:23Speaker 1: Or hits another player that's touching out of bounds. Right.
- 35:25Speaker 1: But if he touches out of bounds and then is
- 35:27Speaker 1: in the air... Yeah, I don't know.
- 35:30Speaker 3: Can you imagine if you're Western Michigan, though, and, like,
- 35:33Speaker 3: that's how you lose that game, that they get another
- 35:36Speaker 3: chance to throw a Hail Mary, and then they actually
- 35:38Speaker 3: complete it? And Michigan fans, what are you doing? Storming
- 35:42Speaker 3: the field.
- 35:42Speaker 1: Right. You beat Western Michigan by one.
- 35:44Speaker 3: And Western Michigan's a good group of 16. Like, they
- 35:47Speaker 3: really are. But what are you doing? Like, you're luckier
- 35:53Speaker 3: than a you-know-what to win that game. Still not sure
- 35:56Speaker 3: that you did.
- 35:57Speaker 1: Your $ 12 million quarterback put up 13 points. And then
- 36:01Speaker 1: you stormed the field. What are we doing?
- 36:04Speaker 3: Like, you can explain that rule to me. Like, you can,
- 36:08Speaker 3: to the letter of the law, you can bylaw it.
- 36:10Speaker 3: I don't really care. Like, football's football. Like, you lost
- 36:13Speaker 3: the game, and you got a bone thrown to you.
- 36:16Speaker 3: But I'm not sure that after watching Michigan, it's really
- 36:19Speaker 3: going to matter.
- 36:21Speaker 1: Yeah, that was embarrassing. That was embarrassing. Also, man, don't
- 36:26Speaker 1: let him catch that ball. That's true. That's true.
- 36:31Speaker 3: You're always so worried about the guys behind you. Typically,
- 36:34Speaker 3: when that happens, it's the guy that's in the front
- 36:38Speaker 3: that catches the football.
- 36:39Speaker 1: If it is successful.
- 36:40Speaker 3: He either catches it, or he's the guy that tips
- 36:43Speaker 3: it to the back. And you never really worry about
- 36:45Speaker 3: that guy enough. God, and they had a, I mean,
- 36:48Speaker 3: they hit Bryce Underwood when, I mean, he threw it,
- 36:51Speaker 3: and as soon as it left his fingertips, they hit him.
- 36:54Speaker 3: So it's the game of inches in that scenario plays
- 36:57Speaker 3: out like 17 different ways.
- 36:59Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah. You're going to well played game. Awesome. Awesome. Awesome.
- 37:05Speaker 1: But unfortunately they are going for, unfortunately for Western Michigan,
- 37:10Speaker 1: they will just keep looking at that play. They're probably not,
- 37:12Speaker 1: it's going to be tough to go see all the
- 37:14Speaker 1: great things they did leading up to that point to
- 37:16Speaker 1: put them in the position to be Michigan in the
- 37:18Speaker 1: big house. Yeah. It stinks because I mean, tip of
- 37:22Speaker 1: the cap to them hats off, like great job, but,
- 37:24Speaker 1: You're just going to beat yourself. You're going to lose
- 37:27Speaker 1: sleep over that one play. You don't ever forget that.
- 37:30Speaker 1: Until you meet your maker, you're going to think about that.
- 37:33Speaker 1: It's tough. It's brutal. Played a hell of a game, though. Okay,
- 37:37Speaker 1: I'm looking it up. Michigan plays Oklahoma, by the way,
- 37:40Speaker 1: this weekend. So, a player that touches out of bounds
- 37:47Speaker 1: and still jumps in the air and, like, touches it.
- 37:51Speaker 1: He maintains that football player retains their out of bounds
- 37:55Speaker 1: status until they reset. Reestablish themselves. Yeah. So even if
- 38:00Speaker 1: you're out of.
- 38:00Speaker 3: Smalls, his touchdown against Alabama in 2019, when he went
- 38:03Speaker 3: out of bounds, but he reestablished himself and called it.
- 38:06Speaker 1: That's why I was like, I've never even thought about
- 38:08Speaker 1: like the clock. When does a clock stop? So it's
- 38:10Speaker 1: like you have one foot out of bounds, one foot
- 38:11Speaker 1: in bounds, jump in the air and touch the ball.
- 38:15Speaker 1: Your feet could be two feet off the ground. You're,
- 38:18Speaker 1: false the clock stops as soon as you touch the
- 38:20Speaker 1: ball because you've maintained your out-of-bounds status didn't know that
- 38:24Speaker 1: we're learning something today.
- 38:26Speaker 3: Also to be able to go back and watch that
- 38:28Speaker 3: and like you know know that in in real time
- 38:33Speaker 3: like that took it took a long time for them
- 38:35Speaker 3: to you know come up with putting a second back
- 38:38Speaker 3: on the clock.
- 38:39Speaker 1: Yeah yeah i mean you throw a hell mary i
- 38:45Speaker 1: think both sides of the both sides of the um
- 38:48Speaker 1: Of the field, no. That's the last play of the game.
- 38:50Speaker 3: Yeah, because you can call pass interference on that every time, too.
- 38:53Speaker 1: Yeah, you can. They never do. No, never. Boo. That
- 38:56Speaker 1: would have been super fun to watch. Well, don't worry.
- 38:59Speaker 1: Michigan's going to get theirs this weekend. Who are they playing? Oklahoma. Oh.
- 39:04Speaker 1: Michigan's going to get theirs this weekend. They're going to
- 39:06Speaker 1: get crushed. What's the line on that game? It's in
- 39:08Speaker 1: the big house. What is that line? Oklahoma's six-point favorite.
- 39:11Speaker 1: I'll take it. I wonder what it was before the
- 39:13Speaker 1: Western Michigan game. Probably not that. No.
- 39:17Speaker 2: Probably like three toward Michigan.
- 39:19Speaker 1: I don't know that Michigan would have been favorite.
- 39:21Speaker 3: In the big house?
- 39:21Speaker 2: Maybe.
- 39:22Speaker 1: It could have been one of those two and a
- 39:24Speaker 1: half and be pickings. Maybe. But now?
- 39:29Speaker 3: No.
- 39:30Speaker 1: But if you got the game before it definitely was,
- 39:32Speaker 1: it might've been like a wake up call for them.
- 39:34Speaker 1: They're going to have a players only meeting this week
- 39:36Speaker 1: up in Michigan. It's always great to have a players
- 39:40Speaker 1: only week too. Yeah, for sure. So right now only
- 39:44Speaker 1: two ranked games.
- 39:46Speaker 2: It opened with Michigan as a one-and-a-half point favorite.
- 39:48Speaker 3: Yeah, so I think your one-and-a-half was probably the number.
- 39:52Speaker 1: If you got that.
- 39:53Speaker 3: If you bet that beforehand. That game, so number– and, again,
- 39:59Speaker 3: these rankings are going to change once we get an
- 40:01Speaker 3: updated poll. But number 10 at number 16. And then,
- 40:05Speaker 3: of course, the other ranked-on-ranked matchup is going to be
- 40:09Speaker 3: Ohio State, number one team in the country, traveling to
- 40:11Speaker 3: Austin to take on number five, texas so those are
- 40:14Speaker 3: going to be the two big games of the week

- 42:08Speaker 1: Past is gone, but something might be found to take
- 42:18Speaker 1: this place. Hey, jealousy. Hey, jealousy. Hey, jealousy. All right,
- 42:23Speaker 1: welcome back in OTB.
- 42:27Speaker 3: Moving right along, LSU and Louisiana Tech coming up this
- 42:30Speaker 3: weekend inside of Tiger Stadium. Right now, LSU a 34.5
- 42:34Speaker 3: point favorite. 55.5 is the total on that game.
- 42:38Speaker 1: Might be something to take a look at.
- 42:41Speaker 3: As far as the old pontoon parlay, right now we're
- 42:44Speaker 3: just waiting on the last leg to hit a little
- 42:47Speaker 3: bit later on tonight.
- 42:48Speaker 2: Somebody tweeted us last night, Carly.
- 42:51Speaker 1: Shout out to Carly.
- 42:52Speaker 4: She was like, I really want to cash out the parlay.
- 42:56Speaker 4: And I was like, Scared money don't make money.
- 42:58Speaker 1: That was before the result. That was before Louisville, yeah.
- 43:01Speaker 4: And then I was telling y'all, I was in like
- 43:06Speaker 4: the third quarter, and y'all know my eyes just close
- 43:08Speaker 4: whenever a certain time passes.
- 43:11Speaker 1: Nighttime. 8.37. That time is nighttime. Yes.
- 43:14Speaker 2: So I'm a normal person.
- 43:16Speaker 1: It gets dark.
- 43:17Speaker 2: And I just couldn't hang on.
- 43:18Speaker 4: And Louisville was down by like two touchdowns, I think
- 43:22Speaker 4: is what it was. And I was like, oh, no.
- 43:25Speaker 4: I'm going to go to sleep. I'm going to wake up,
- 43:26Speaker 4: and the parlay is going to be dead. And I
- 43:28Speaker 4: told Carly to hold on to it. I woke up
- 43:31Speaker 4: at 3 in the morning, and first thing I.
- 43:33Speaker 2: Did was check ESPN. Like, I was so happy.
- 43:37Speaker 1: I'll bet you were. I saw those magical numbers.
- 43:40Speaker 2: I saw it.
- 43:41Speaker 1: 79.
- 43:42Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 43:43Speaker 1: So Matt took Texas over Texas State. That hit. Tay-Tay
- 43:47Speaker 1: took Cincinnati over Boston College. That hit. Alondra took Louisville
- 43:51Speaker 1: over Ole Miss. That hit.
- 43:53Speaker 3: And so now I took SMU minus two and a
- 43:56Speaker 3: half against Florida State in Tallahassee.
- 44:00Speaker 1: How are we feeling? I still feel good about it.
- 44:06Speaker 1: I feel great about it. This is our week.
- 44:09Speaker 2: This is it right here.
- 44:11Speaker 3: What was the final number?
- 44:14Speaker 1: Odds on that? It wasn't as.
- 44:15Speaker 2: It was like 14-something.
- 44:17Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 44:17Speaker 3: I got it.
- 44:18Speaker 2: I bet it.
- 44:18Speaker 1: Week one, it was like 2,200. Let's go to those five.
- 44:21Speaker 1: It was five, because we had Dev.
- 44:25Speaker 2: Oh, true.
- 44:26Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 44:26Speaker 2: Oh, 1321.
- 44:27Speaker 1: Okay. I mean, still. So I bet 10... 10 bucks
- 44:28Speaker 1: makes you 130-something.
- 44:30Speaker 2: I bet $ 10, and.
- 44:31Speaker 4: If SMU hits tonight, I get 142.
- 44:35Speaker 2: What's your buyout right now?
- 44:35Speaker 1: 62. I mean, that's still not bad for a $ 10 bet.
- 44:37Speaker 1: If you bet like 10 bucks... Let it ride. If
- 44:43Speaker 1: you bet $ 100, 000. Yeah, I'm going to let it ride.
- 44:48Speaker 1: Ponder it. Dang.
- 44:50Speaker 4: Who on the OTB listener list got $ 100, 000?
- 44:52Speaker 1: You never know.
- 44:53Speaker 2: Bet on a pontoon parlay.
- 44:55Speaker 1: We are worldwide.
- 44:57Speaker 4: True.
- 44:57Speaker 1: There's somebody right now. That must be why people get
- 45:00Speaker 1: so mad when it doesn't hit. Yeah. They're like, guys,
- 45:04Speaker 1: this is everything I have. Somebody's in Monica right now
- 45:06Speaker 1: listening to it. Just like.
- 45:09Speaker 2: I had some St. Louis listeners come up to me
- 45:11Speaker 2: at Don Juan.
- 45:11Speaker 1: Oh, hell yeah.
- 45:12Speaker 2: Shout out St.
- 45:13Speaker 1: Louis.
- 45:13Speaker 3: Oh, and you sent us that picture of the Hester
- 45:15Speaker 3: Flynn jersey walking out of Tiger Stadium.
- 45:17Speaker 1: Yes. No big deal.
- 45:19Speaker 2: Hashtag OTV.
- 45:20Speaker 1: Yeah. We might have to put that picture out there
- 45:21Speaker 1: and see if we can figure out who that is.
- 45:23Speaker 1: I'll put it on our Instagram. Make a T-shirt. Yeah,
- 45:24Speaker 1: give him some stuff. Sign some stuff for him. Guess what?
- 45:28Speaker 1: Let's do another hour. Okay, one more. Hour three, OTV,
- 45:31Speaker 1: coming up.
- 45:33Speaker 2: Off the bench.
- 45:34Speaker 3: All right, go to Rousers.com, Rousers.com. Find a location that's
- 45:37Speaker 3: convenient for you. Once you find that location, you are

- 45:52Speaker 3: is going to be there.
- 45:52Speaker 1: We know the sushi bar is getting ready to roll.
- 45:55Speaker 3: The salad bar is going to be ready by the
- 45:57Speaker 3: time we leave. You've got the hot bar. You've got
- 45:59Speaker 3: the pre-made meals already ready to go. As well, it
- 46:02Speaker 3: is incredibly convenient for you if you go to your
- 46:04Speaker 3: local Rouse's. Also, if hydration's cool to you, it probably
- 46:08Speaker 3: needs to be after being outside this weekend.
- 46:11Speaker 1: They've got my high there as well. That's right. Go
- 46:13Speaker 1: to Rouse's. Local Rouse's. The best grocery store around. Of course,
- 46:17Speaker 1: it's a Louisiana-born grocery store with good people down there
- 46:21Speaker 1: in the Tiptoe area. But you can get them all
- 46:23Speaker 1: across the Gulf South. You go to Rouse's.com, too. Type
- 46:25Speaker 1: in your zip code and find all the local specials
- 46:27Speaker 1: running this week, this month, whatever it is. Go to Rouse's.com.
