- 0:00Speaker 1: Empty nesting on Father's Day a little weird. Yeah, it's
- 0:04Speaker 1: one of the few. I think it's the only one
- 0:06Speaker 1: I've ever had that neither of my kids were around,
- 0:09Speaker 1: and my father passed away. Now this is the second
- 0:12Speaker 1: Father's Day, but my father, So it was a little
- 0:14Speaker 1: lonely and poppy Father's Date. Everybody out there, belatedly, those
- 0:19Speaker 1: that are fathers, those that have fathers, those that miss
- 0:21Speaker 1: Father's Happy Father's Day to all of you. Hopefully you
- 0:25Speaker 1: had a great out time weekend. If you were in
- 0:27Speaker 1: the Pacific Northwest, Chris, I'm sure you did. What'd you
- 0:29Speaker 1: do instead of watching US and Australia on Friday?
- 0:32Speaker 2: Had a good run, Then on down the hills, man,
- 0:35Speaker 2: they'll suck. Sorry for those that can master running hills,
- 0:39Speaker 2: I give you double thumbs up YouTube. You see the
- 0:41Speaker 2: double thumbs up, You're a You're a warrior. Because I'm
- 0:44Speaker 2: just getting a certain time with hills is not is
- 0:48Speaker 2: not for the week, And I look at my clock
- 0:50Speaker 2: on my watch, I'm.
- 0:51Speaker 1: Like, dang, I strove almost heels.
- 0:53Speaker 2: Can't wait till you're on a flat service And I'm like, oh,
- 0:55Speaker 2: that's more like it.
- 0:56Speaker 1: But did my run? That was great?
- 0:57Speaker 3: And then Saturday we had flag football.
- 0:59Speaker 1: It was really good.
- 1:00Speaker 3: Two games, no hills, you know.
- 1:03Speaker 2: Just dead legs, jacked up tricep you know, banged up head.
- 1:08Speaker 1: It was fun.
- 1:09Speaker 2: And then Sunday got to spend time with my dad
- 1:10Speaker 2: watching some golf. Shout out to Wyndham Clark because I
- 1:13Speaker 2: had him for the green jacket. Yeah, he was my
- 1:17Speaker 2: second pick. I had Scheffler first, and then in the
- 1:19Speaker 2: second round I took when the new car loaded, I
- 1:22Speaker 2: was loaded, but I didn't watch the final round?
- 1:25Speaker 1: Was it as bad as portrayed him? Getting booed and jeered?
- 1:28Speaker 2: And so I was on my way home because I
- 1:30Speaker 2: had given up hope, so quick story. I was watching
- 1:33Speaker 2: with my dad and then my mom was like, oh,
- 1:34Speaker 2: I'm gonna go to the market. At this point, Wyndham
- 1:37Speaker 2: had he had he was at minus seven Sam Burns
- 1:40Speaker 2: might have been, was minus one six shot lead. I'm like, yeah,
- 1:43Speaker 2: he's nice lead. I'm gonna go to the go to
- 1:46Speaker 2: the store, my mom get some veggies, fruit and all
- 1:48Speaker 2: that at a local market.
- 1:50Speaker 1: Cool.
- 1:50Speaker 2: I get back, I'm my dad, what the hell happened?
- 1:54Speaker 2: He's only up two shots? Long story short, he had
- 1:58Speaker 2: been struggling and I started with it. As I'm sitting there,
- 2:01Speaker 2: I'm like, I don't know if I could sit here
- 2:02Speaker 2: and watch him lose. So you know what, Dad, I
- 2:04Speaker 2: love you, Happy Father's Day. I'm not about to watch
- 2:06Speaker 2: this go down because I have him the green jacket
- 2:07Speaker 2: draft from the on the Morning Show. There is no
- 2:10Speaker 2: way in hell I'm gonna watch him just lose this
- 2:12Speaker 2: in front of me on your day.
- 2:14Speaker 3: He's like, all right, son, safe driving, I'll see you later.
- 2:16Speaker 3: It's like cool. I get home. Oh my gosh, she won.
- 2:20Speaker 2: So I missed all of that because I decided to
- 2:23Speaker 2: leave at the right time because I was just getting stressed.
- 2:26Speaker 1: When you watch the lead this evaporate, were they booing
- 2:29Speaker 1: and could you hear the booze? No?
- 2:31Speaker 2: I didn't hear anything, but maybe that was later on
- 2:34Speaker 2: because remember I got home and he was at minus
- 2:36Speaker 2: five and I think Sam Burns was at like minus
- 2:38Speaker 2: three or minus two, so the gap, the gap was closing,
- 2:41Speaker 2: and I'm like, what the hell is going on? And
- 2:42Speaker 2: every shot from each hole that he would start off,
- 2:45Speaker 2: I'm like, dude, what is going on? Hitting it in
- 2:47Speaker 2: the grass and I'm just rubbing my head. My dad's
- 2:50Speaker 2: looking at me like it's golf son. You know this happened. No,
- 2:53Speaker 2: it don't happen. You don't have a seven shot lead.
- 2:55Speaker 2: And everyone's like, oh, it's a rap. There's no way,
- 2:57Speaker 2: and he was trying to make it so he was
- 3:00Speaker 2: making it very difficult, and I'm glad I didn't put
- 3:02Speaker 2: money on him. People listening, I'm probably assuming I had
- 3:04Speaker 2: money on this guy. I had no money, just bragging rights.
- 3:06Speaker 1: People listening probably had money because you had picked them.
- 3:10Speaker 2: Probably there have been a couple of people like thanks
- 3:12Speaker 2: kid for Wyndham Clark men or previous years, I got
- 3:14Speaker 2: lucky in one around or one a a US Open.
- 3:17Speaker 3: So yes, that has happened before.
- 3:19Speaker 2: But this was more so all about negreg on my
- 3:21Speaker 2: Dad's day and I was very upset at a point
- 3:23Speaker 2: in time, and then I just dipped, didn't want to
- 3:25Speaker 2: pay attention, didn't.
- 3:26Speaker 3: Want to know anything, and I got home in check.
- 3:28Speaker 3: I'm like, oh my god, he put it off.
- 3:31Speaker 1: I'm glad you got back with your dad for the
- 3:33Speaker 1: rest of Father's Day. Absolutely good. Happy Father's Day to
- 3:36Speaker 1: everybody out there. On the show. Today, we're going to
- 3:39Speaker 1: talk about is Brian Smetzer going to be right about
- 3:41Speaker 1: his world Cup prediction he gave us Friday at Jimmy's.
- 3:44Speaker 1: I thought, well, that's just him getting caught up in
- 3:45Speaker 1: the moment. But the Sounders coach told us what he
- 3:48Speaker 1: thought of the US team, and it's so far coming true.
- 3:51Speaker 1: You'll hear about that the same Friday. That was one
- 3:54Speaker 1: of the top half dozen sporting events I've covered in
- 3:56Speaker 1: my thirty plus years here in Seattle. It was that good.
- 4:01Speaker 1: It really was. Men and Blazer is the popular podcast
- 4:04Speaker 1: for World Soccer. They hosted the Peer fifty eight fan
- 4:06Speaker 1: rally that Jessamin McIntyre was down on. We had her
- 4:08Speaker 1: on the Friday show from phone live from there. Marshawn
- 4:12Speaker 1: Lynch was down there. I don't know if you saw this,
- 4:13Speaker 1: Chris or those of you listening that I did see it. Yeah,
- 4:17Speaker 1: he was first of all. Men and Blazer is the guy.
- 4:21Speaker 1: The guys who do that. They the World International Soccer
- 4:24Speaker 1: podcast called it the most incredible football meaning soccer course
- 4:29Speaker 1: atmosphere this country the United States has ever seen. On
- 4:32Speaker 1: Friday across downtown Seattle, be four during and after the
- 4:35Speaker 1: match against Australia. Lynch, by the way, yeah, he was
- 4:39Speaker 1: exactly what you'd expect him to be He told the
- 4:42Speaker 1: crowd down in Peer fifty eight about reminding him that
- 4:45Speaker 1: they'd cause an earthquake already in that stadium. Of course,
- 4:47Speaker 1: his beast Quake run to beat the Saints in the
- 4:49Speaker 1: playoff game and what fifteen years ago now, he said,
- 4:53Speaker 1: we just want to make sure that billing stays together.
- 4:55Speaker 1: He was telling us on the podcast and the crowd
- 4:57Speaker 1: at Peer fifty eight, I think if they get loud enough,
- 5:01Speaker 1: I think they can bring that mother down. He had
- 5:04Speaker 1: him another word beside mother. Of course he did, and
- 5:08Speaker 1: it was loud. Chris. When the referee reversed the decision
- 5:13Speaker 1: originally of an offside on the second goal of the
- 5:16Speaker 1: first half of the United States originally called off side,
- 5:19Speaker 1: var reviewed and the reference when he announced that that
- 5:22Speaker 1: was a good goal instead of off sides. The press
- 5:25Speaker 1: box shook longer than it shook for the beast Quake run.
- 5:30Speaker 1: It shook longer than Rashid Shaheed's kickoff return for a
- 5:34Speaker 1: touchdown against San Francisco in the Divisional playoffs in January.
- 5:38Speaker 1: The press box shook longer than Russell Wilson's rainbow passed
- 5:41Speaker 1: at Jermaine Curse in the end zone that beat the
- 5:44Speaker 1: Packers in overtime and got the Seahawks to their second
- 5:46Speaker 1: consecutive Super Bowl in January twenty fifteen. I was in
- 5:49Speaker 1: the building for all that, and I it shook like
- 5:52Speaker 1: it was earthquake chacking for a good ten to fifteen seconds,
- 5:56Speaker 1: and you could hear in the telecast. I'm told I
- 5:58Speaker 1: was in the stadium, so I didn't hear it, but
- 5:59Speaker 1: I heard late that John Strong and the Fox telcast
- 6:03Speaker 1: had the building is shaking in Seattle because he had
- 6:05Speaker 1: obviously never felt that before. It was that loud, And
- 6:09Speaker 1: I was on the field for right off the field,
- 6:11Speaker 1: first row in the stands for the national anthem, national
- 6:15Speaker 1: anthems of both Australia and the United States. There were
- 6:18Speaker 1: probably five seven, maybe eight thousand Australians in the crowd,
- 6:23Speaker 1: most of them in the south end zone behind the
- 6:24Speaker 1: south goal, and then in the upper corner of the
- 6:26Speaker 1: upper deck and then on the side belting out their
- 6:29Speaker 1: national anthem, and then the United States. I mean, they
- 6:33Speaker 1: don't sing like that for a Seahawk game national anthem
- 6:36Speaker 1: because it's not a national sport event, right, it's not
- 6:38Speaker 1: a national team plan. And they were belting it, and
- 6:41Speaker 1: then the Army helicopters from my joint base, Lewis McCord.
- 6:45Speaker 1: The Blackhawks come over. It was something. Butchettina, the Argentinian,
- 6:51Speaker 1: the US coach from Argentina, was talking about how special
- 6:54Speaker 1: the atmosphere was. The players afterwards went on and on
- 6:58Speaker 1: till the break of dawn about the atmosphere. And we'll
- 7:01Speaker 1: talk about what Christian roll Don said later on in
- 7:04Speaker 1: the show that players were coming up to him and
- 7:07Speaker 1: asking him and talking to him about during the match.
- 7:10Speaker 1: We'll talk about that as well. The Mariners losing two
- 7:13Speaker 1: out of three the first two games of the series
- 7:15Speaker 1: were carving copies of each other, five to one losses
- 7:17Speaker 1: with almost no hits and a lineup that has just
- 7:21Speaker 1: patchwork with all these injuries. And now here comes can Zone.
- 7:25Speaker 1: We'll see if he's playing in Pittsburgh tomorrow. You got
- 7:27Speaker 1: Ref Schneider leading off with his one thirty whatever battan average.
- 7:31Speaker 1: When did they just cut bait on that? I mean,
- 7:33Speaker 1: he's supposed to be reputed to be the best hit
- 7:35Speaker 1: here against lefties in the market. Last winter, that's why
- 7:39Speaker 1: they signed him. And here we are almost approaching now
- 7:42Speaker 1: the midpoint of the season and he's batten one thirty
- 7:45Speaker 1: five or whatever it is. Now he's they haven't bet
- 7:47Speaker 1: fifty yesterday, haven't betten lead off. If he's in prominent
- 7:50Speaker 1: roles in the lineup, that's what the injuries are. I
- 7:54Speaker 1: don't know, man, the platooning just trot Raley out there
- 7:57Speaker 1: at this point. I know he never doesn't get people say, well,
- 8:00Speaker 1: we can't hit left handers. We barely gets a chance
- 8:01Speaker 1: to hit left handers anyway. Four nine, four five one.
- 8:06Speaker 1: You're just ready for Luke Raley to be the full
- 8:08Speaker 1: time right for Victor Roublas for that matter, just be
- 8:10Speaker 1: the full time right fielder and we'll see what the
- 8:13Speaker 1: Mariners do with Reschneider. But he's here to hit left
- 8:16Speaker 1: handers and he's not doing it yet. I mentioned Kristal Hoddan.
- 8:20Speaker 1: I wrote a story in the News Tribune Friday night.
- 8:21Speaker 1: It was more read the story I wrote about Christian
- 8:24Speaker 1: o'dan and what the teammates were asking him and talking
- 8:27Speaker 1: to him about during the game and the noise in
- 8:28Speaker 1: the atmosphere. That was more read at the Newstribune dot
- 8:31Speaker 1: com than my match story which I put out right
- 8:33Speaker 1: after the game. Of the US is two nothing victory.
- 8:36Speaker 1: Mike Ben's going to join us a bottom of the
- 8:37Speaker 1: sidurer to talk about the krack and did in that
- 8:40Speaker 1: trade yesterday. Who the new winger is, why they got
- 8:44Speaker 1: him and why they resigned Bobby McMahon. He's talking to
- 8:47Speaker 1: McMahon right now. He told me, I'll try to get
- 8:49Speaker 1: at you ten thirty. Hopefully we'll be done with the
- 8:51Speaker 1: press conference by then. Aboven o'clock, i'll have a chance.
- 8:54Speaker 1: I'll have your chance to win another twenty five hundred
- 8:56Speaker 1: dollars in our two hundred and fifty k USA giveaway
- 8:59Speaker 1: with keyword at eleven o'clock. Nico Moreno, who was with
- 9:02Speaker 1: us on Friday with phone issues outside the stadium. We're
- 9:05Speaker 1: gonna get away with the phone issues today because we're
- 9:07Speaker 1: gonna have a min's studio the Fox thirteen Seattle, MLS Espanol.
- 9:13Speaker 1: Call him. Let's talk about the World Cup here in
- 9:14Speaker 1: studio at eleven o'clock. Your text of course four nine
- 9:17Speaker 1: four or five one on the Komo Dodge Tex S line.
- 9:19Speaker 1: The first question I have is Rob Reschneider, are you
- 9:21Speaker 1: ready to keep rolling with them and then platooning or
- 9:25Speaker 1: is it time to cut bait? And then the other
- 9:26Speaker 1: question I have is all right those of you that
- 9:28Speaker 1: were on the fence or maybe said no, I'm not
- 9:30Speaker 1: paying attention to the World Cup? Are you converting? There
- 9:33Speaker 1: are twenty more million people watch that game on a
- 9:35Speaker 1: Friday afternoon at noon Pacific time US and Australia, and
- 9:41Speaker 1: they have advanced. Nobody thought they were going to advance
- 9:44Speaker 1: in two games without even the third game against Turkey,
- 9:47Speaker 1: mattering that Turkey game looked like it was going to
- 9:49Speaker 1: be four, if not seating to get in and advance
- 9:52Speaker 1: to the knockout stage. And they're already in there, already
- 9:55Speaker 1: three before the third match. Four. It's coming out. You
- 10:00Speaker 1: in got World Cup fever? Cris you in? Sounds like
- 10:03Speaker 1: you're not in.
- 10:04Speaker 2: I am in by word of mouth, so retweeting and enjoying.
- 10:09Speaker 3: Yeah, I'll you know, there you go.
- 10:11Speaker 1: Have you watched it?
- 10:12Speaker 3: No, I have not, but I watched you. Greg will
- 10:17Speaker 3: thank you my eyes and ears.
- 10:18Speaker 1: I appreciate that.
- 10:19Speaker 2: So and it sounds like it's a great time. I'm
- 10:22Speaker 2: not knocking it out it is. You know, it's not
- 10:24Speaker 2: my team. I won't take a sip, but I will
- 10:26Speaker 2: not stop you from drinking it.
- 10:27Speaker 1: Greg, I appreciate that. And Friday night after I got
- 10:31Speaker 1: back from the stadium. My son asked me, where did
- 10:33Speaker 1: that rank on all the things you've gone to? He
- 10:36Speaker 1: was across the street at the Victory Hall, my mom,
- 10:39Speaker 1: his mom, my wife, and made me think, that's a
- 10:42Speaker 1: good question. And I've been doing this now for going
- 10:46Speaker 1: on thirty years, and I thought to myself, Okay, what
- 10:50Speaker 1: have I witnessed that is better than that? And I thought, okay,
- 10:54Speaker 1: the Crosby Sidney Crosby's golden goald twenty ten Vancouver Olympics
- 10:58Speaker 1: in overtime to beat the United States in Canada's game
- 11:01Speaker 1: and the gold medal match of hockey. I was seven
- 11:04Speaker 1: rows off center. I was sitting right behind the Canadian
- 11:06Speaker 1: Prime Minister and Michael J. Fox, and I mean it
- 11:08Speaker 1: was crazy. That was the most electric event I've ever
- 11:13Speaker 1: been out. The drama that game going to overtime. That's
- 11:16Speaker 1: number one probably in my career. Edgar's double I wasn't covering.
- 11:20Speaker 1: I was a fan sit two rows from the top
- 11:22Speaker 1: of the stadium in the Kingdome over the third base
- 11:25Speaker 1: on the third base side, and just could not believe
- 11:29Speaker 1: you talk about stadium shaking. I thought the concrete roof
- 11:31Speaker 1: was going to fall in so loud, the Edgar double
- 11:35Speaker 1: in ninety five that beat the Yankees in the Division series.
- 11:38Speaker 1: Hate to bring it up, but probably the next one
- 11:40Speaker 1: is the Super Bowl forty nine and Malcolm Butler interception,
- 11:43Speaker 1: the catch by Jermaine Curs that everyone had forgotten later
- 11:47Speaker 1: on that got the Seahawks in position, the run by
- 11:49Speaker 1: Lynch that got him too, the one yard line. I'm
- 11:52Speaker 1: writing a breaking Super Bowl game story for the News
- 11:54Speaker 1: Tribune about how they've won back to back and how
- 11:57Speaker 1: remarkable it was after having a twenty one to ten
- 11:59Speaker 1: lead in the second half, losing it and then coming
- 12:01Speaker 1: back at the end, and then losing it again, and
- 12:04Speaker 1: I had to rewrite the story, and I've told the
- 12:06Speaker 1: story of John McGrath. The columnists form the News Tribute
- 12:08Speaker 1: next to me, saying, we just witnessed the worst play
- 12:10Speaker 1: call in Super Bowl history. I said, John, there's your column.
- 12:14Speaker 1: That was probably the third moment, the best moment, best
- 12:18Speaker 1: in the sense of drama and the stakes involved. The
- 12:22Speaker 1: Seahawks come back. I mentioned it sixteen nothing. They're down
- 12:25Speaker 1: to Green Bay in the late in the third quarter,
- 12:28Speaker 1: and then the John Ryan fake field goal passed to
- 12:31Speaker 1: Gary Gillian gets them back in the game, some improbable
- 12:33Speaker 1: two point plays, Russell Wilson's whirling dervish throat at Luke Wilson.
- 12:38Speaker 1: You all remember that the on side kick that went
- 12:40Speaker 1: off the packer that all he had to do was
- 12:42Speaker 1: fall on the ball, and they win, and the Seahawks
- 12:45Speaker 1: get the Jermaine Curst dramatic catch on the post route
- 12:48Speaker 1: in overtime. They win to go to their second consecutive
- 12:51Speaker 1: Super Bowl. That was in January twenty fifteen. And then
- 12:55Speaker 1: I would rank Friday right with maybe that. I thought
- 12:59Speaker 1: about maybe rich Sherman's tip Chris that got the Seahawks
- 13:03Speaker 1: back to that first of two Super Bowls twenty fourteen
- 13:06Speaker 1: title game. And where were you for Edgar's double second
- 13:11Speaker 1: row top of the stadium, second row.
- 13:13Speaker 2: From the top of the kang He said, I'll never
- 13:16Speaker 2: forget it.
- 13:17Speaker 1: I paid my wife and I paid I think ninety
- 13:19Speaker 1: dollars scalping. I was a captain of lieutenant captain. I
- 13:22Speaker 1: think it was the first lieutenant at the Fort Lewis
- 13:24Speaker 1: at the time. And I thought, man, that's expensive. I
- 13:27Speaker 1: can't believe we paid ninety dollars fee face five times.
- 13:30Speaker 3: The last four to thirty years. What do you say, now, Greg.
- 13:32Speaker 1: Yeah, twenty by the time the match kicked off Friday,
- 13:35Speaker 1: it was thirty three hundred dollars to get into Loomen
- 13:37Speaker 1: Field or the remaining tickets on the secondary site. Yeah,
- 13:41Speaker 1: i'd player savings. Yes, And the fact that they're coming
- 13:44Speaker 1: back July sixth gave me pause to try to get
- 13:47Speaker 1: my son into one of those games. I said, well,
- 13:49Speaker 1: they're going to come back anyway. Friday would probably rank
- 13:52Speaker 1: around maybe sixth, right behind the Sherman tip in twenty
- 13:56Speaker 1: fourteen to in that NFC title game against the forty
- 13:59Speaker 1: nine ers. Where were in such a text line four
- 14:03Speaker 1: nine four five one. First of all, you'll probably tell
- 14:05Speaker 1: me I'm full of beans on some of those rankings,
- 14:07Speaker 1: But where would you rank the most dramatic moments you've
- 14:10Speaker 1: seen in the Seattle sports fan if you've been here
- 14:12Speaker 1: for a day or three. It was just the whole
- 14:15Speaker 1: tableau on Friday, the weather, the crowd, the international flavor
- 14:19Speaker 1: of it, the Australians marching on through the streets, the
- 14:23Speaker 1: American fans marching on, the anthem, the flyover. We'll talk
- 14:27Speaker 1: more about what the players had to say after that
- 14:30Speaker 1: match in the game up next. The cracking made two
- 14:33Speaker 1: big moves on Sunday, unusual for an NHL day, but
- 14:35Speaker 1: it is that time of year. The draft is this week.
- 14:38Speaker 1: Mike Benton joins us explain the why and the who
- 14:40Speaker 1: as soon as he's done talking to Bobby McMahon. Eleven
- 14:43Speaker 1: o'clock Niica Moreno to talk about the World Cup. You're
- 14:45Speaker 1: text We'll reading back at eleven thirty in the Coma
- 14:47Speaker 1: Dodge textaon on ninety three point three KJRFM. We'll back
- 14:56Speaker 1: the Mike Benton rock portion of the show here on
- 14:59Speaker 1: ninety three point three KJRFM, Greg Bellin News Tribune and
- 15:01Speaker 1: Christopher Kidd as we are every weekday ten am the noon.
- 15:05Speaker 1: Yesterday on a Sunday, the cracking were busy, gentlemen. Jason
- 15:09Speaker 1: Borell had told you in for Ness last Thursday. They
- 15:11Speaker 1: were trying to work on re signing Bobby McMahon had
- 15:13Speaker 1: been talking to him about that him. Yesterday they did
- 15:16Speaker 1: that six year contract five point seventy five million per year.
- 15:21Speaker 1: They also made a trade with Florida. They got Mackie
- 15:25Speaker 1: samus Kavich, twenty three years old, a restricted free agent winger,
- 15:28Speaker 1: from the Panthers in exchange for the twenty fifth pick
- 15:31Speaker 1: in this week's draft. The Seahawks have cracking excuse me,
- 15:34Speaker 1: have two first round picks, seventh and twenty fifth. They
- 15:37Speaker 1: traded the twenty fifth of Florida to get Sam Samus Kavic,
- 15:41Speaker 1: and they also trade a conditional pick next year in
- 15:44Speaker 1: the second round. Here to talk about that, Here to
- 15:46Speaker 1: talk about Bobby McMahon, who he just talked to Mike Ben,
- 15:49Speaker 1: a pre and post game host on Cracking broadcast on
- 15:52Speaker 1: the KRACK and Audio Network.
- 15:53Speaker 4: Hello, sir, hi Greg, Good morning, Happy Father's Day.
- 15:58Speaker 5: Also on a belated note today, we enjoyed it.
- 16:00Speaker 1: I did, and hope you did as well. Coach little
- 16:02Speaker 1: lead coach Mike Benton, what you learn from talking to
- 16:05Speaker 1: Bobby McMahon about his feelings of staying in Seattle.
- 16:10Speaker 5: With Bobby McMahon, this is a case we've learned over
- 16:14Speaker 5: the last several years. Greg, and I'll tho and we
- 16:16Speaker 5: had matkiw Samuskevitch Shaw joined the meeting a few minutes
- 16:19Speaker 5: ago with with I think those two beginning on McMahon,
- 16:24Speaker 5: I think that the biggest importance here is not just
- 16:27Speaker 5: the contract value, but going.
- 16:30Speaker 4: Through a run where you're missing the postseason for four
- 16:33Speaker 4: of the.
- 16:33Speaker 5: First five years. I mean, it does a lot of
- 16:36Speaker 5: damage I think to what you want to do.
- 16:39Speaker 4: And you know, being an expansion team.
- 16:41Speaker 5: Out of the box, you know, you you essentially lose
- 16:45Speaker 5: that label and you're basically on par with other franchises
- 16:48Speaker 5: when when it comes to attracting free agents. So we've
- 16:51Speaker 5: learned that winning is the ultimate game, and the Kraken
- 16:54Speaker 5: can no longer, you know, offer the fact that they're
- 16:57Speaker 5: an expansion team with the long terms and goals, you know,
- 17:01Speaker 5: like others, they had to kind of play on a
- 17:05Speaker 5: same level, if you will. So the significance I think
- 17:09Speaker 5: for me on the McMahon deal in that you're going
- 17:12Speaker 5: through some roster turnover. Now you're getting in a significant
- 17:16Speaker 5: piece who produced at a significant level but has chosen
- 17:21Speaker 5: to be here. He wants to be here. And given
- 17:24Speaker 5: the fact that we were going through about two months
- 17:27Speaker 5: of a conversation of he holds all the cards and
- 17:30Speaker 5: he did, you know, there was you know, the realistic
- 17:34Speaker 5: possibility that maybe he could lead by July one, and
- 17:38Speaker 5: if he did, it is because there was a team
- 17:40Speaker 5: with maybe a comparable offer out there that had a
- 17:44Speaker 5: longer track record of success.
- 17:46Speaker 1: But what Bobby.
- 17:47Speaker 5: McMahon signed up for is that he wanted to be,
- 17:49Speaker 5: I think a part of change in this manner. He
- 17:53Speaker 5: came in and the numbers were out the charts. Ten
- 17:56Speaker 5: goals in the first.
- 17:58Speaker 4: Eighteen games in the Crack can give.
- 18:00Speaker 5: Up two draft picks to get him here from Toronto,
- 18:04Speaker 5: but he could have chosen his destination. But yet the
- 18:08Speaker 5: few weeks that he was here, the golf trip that
- 18:11Speaker 5: the team took him on after the end of the season,
- 18:16Speaker 5: I think really did wonders and an influence to tell
- 18:19Speaker 5: him that we are serious about change, we mean change,
- 18:23Speaker 5: and you will be a big part of change. And
- 18:26Speaker 5: then you get to the contract, which is a great
- 18:28Speaker 5: value as well. Greg, I mean I thought that, you know,
- 18:31Speaker 5: he could maybe commanded more dollars than this, but it
- 18:34Speaker 5: still leaves a lot of money on the table here
- 18:36Speaker 5: for the Kraken to go out and add if they
- 18:38Speaker 5: choose to do so. Besides the sam Usquevish trade and
- 18:42Speaker 5: from what we're hearing the trade market, is this going
- 18:44Speaker 5: to be bonkers coming up here maybe in the next
- 18:46Speaker 5: few weeks.
- 18:47Speaker 1: So, you know, a.
- 18:48Speaker 5: Great signing, a great value, and a great start here
- 18:51Speaker 5: to the offseason so far.
- 18:53Speaker 1: Mike Ben joining us on the Beacon Plumbing hotline from
- 18:56Speaker 1: Cracking headquarters the King County Ice Puss in North Gate,
- 18:58Speaker 1: I'd assume where he just talked Macky Simmyskevich and Bobby McMahon.
- 19:03Speaker 1: The rumors are that the Cracking aren't done. As you said,
- 19:06Speaker 1: the trademark is going to be heating up. Could the
- 19:08Speaker 1: seventh pick in the draft be in play for the
- 19:11Speaker 1: Kraken to get another score? Do you think?
- 19:15Speaker 5: I think the seventh overall pick could be in play.
- 19:18Speaker 5: And there's no wrong way to go about this, but
- 19:22Speaker 5: for a team that is still lacking top end talent,
- 19:24Speaker 5: and I'm talking about a guy who can pump you
- 19:27Speaker 5: thirty five forty forty five.
- 19:30Speaker 4: Goals, you know you have to do a little bit
- 19:32Speaker 4: of maneuver ring.
- 19:33Speaker 5: But that seventh overall pick could land somebody pretty special.
- 19:38Speaker 5: I mean, it may not be in the generational talent category, essay,
- 19:42Speaker 5: Gavin McKenna would be, or I our Stenberg would be.
- 19:45Speaker 5: He's in the conversation. But once those two guys are
- 19:48Speaker 5: off the board, there are still significant players. Even one
- 19:52Speaker 5: guy I've read and heard about named Albert Smith's coming
- 19:55Speaker 5: out of Europe. He might be the closest thing to
- 19:58Speaker 5: NHL ready behind those for two players, and he's got
- 20:01Speaker 5: a big, booming shot on the point as a left
- 20:04Speaker 5: shot defenseman. So you're still in very good position to
- 20:08Speaker 5: get somebody, if they can't help you immediately, is going
- 20:12Speaker 5: to maybe play a big part. And I use this
- 20:15Speaker 5: for example, be on your top pair, you know, with
- 20:18Speaker 5: your defensive core in about you know, three or four
- 20:21Speaker 5: years or so. What the Kraken can do is package this,
- 20:25Speaker 5: you know, with other pieces they have. They have a
- 20:28Speaker 5: farm system that is still growing and is known to
- 20:31Speaker 5: be one of the greater farm systems right now in
- 20:34Speaker 5: the NHL arguably top ten. We can talk about the
- 20:37Speaker 5: cap space that they have, but when you can package
- 20:40Speaker 5: that seventh overall pick, that's a pretty significant piece to
- 20:44Speaker 5: land somebody who could immediately help you upfront on your
- 20:49Speaker 5: top line. Who that's going to be, we don't know.
- 20:52Speaker 5: Jason Robertson's name is floating out there. Matt Barzell's name
- 20:55Speaker 5: a former Thunderbird, his name is also floating out there.
- 20:59Speaker 5: Those are a couple of examsamples of the media plug
- 21:01Speaker 5: and play players who are going to make your lineup
- 21:04Speaker 5: better and maybe bump a couple of guys down that
- 21:08Speaker 5: can really, I think appropriately fill in the depth of
- 21:11Speaker 5: this rosher and play where they are meant to be played.
- 21:15Speaker 5: So could that sventh overall take be and play I
- 21:17Speaker 5: certainly think so. But should the Kraken you know, select
- 21:21Speaker 5: that or you know, opt to use that pick come
- 21:24Speaker 5: you know, June twenty sixth, this week, they're going to
- 21:27Speaker 5: be in a pretty good spot to get somebody pretty special,
- 21:30Speaker 5: maybe even someone who could be NHL ready for this
- 21:32Speaker 5: next year.
- 21:33Speaker 1: So who leaves? There's got a couple of veterans you
- 21:36Speaker 1: mentioned with big contracts, then Stunt's probably the highest paid contract.
- 21:41Speaker 1: That's not exactly what they need some scoring obviously, but
- 21:45Speaker 1: who who do you think may go? And when they
- 21:48Speaker 1: bring in all these new players.
- 21:51Speaker 5: Well, it really depends on the kind of player that
- 21:53Speaker 5: you're looking at and the kind of player and the
- 21:55Speaker 5: kind of team that you're talking to as well.
- 21:56Speaker 1: Greg, you know, when it really.
- 21:59Speaker 5: Depends upon the need and given the fact that Krack
- 22:02Speaker 5: and may have veterans going out the door, and you know,
- 22:05Speaker 5: I just use for example, Jamie Alexix contract is expiring,
- 22:09Speaker 5: Ellie Toulvenan, you know, there's no word on him, and
- 22:12Speaker 5: you know, I think more of the chatter around these parts,
- 22:17Speaker 5: you know, in the hockey world, is that he could
- 22:19Speaker 5: be hitting the open market. But when you look at
- 22:22Speaker 5: players who have maybe one year left on their deal,
- 22:25Speaker 5: what could maybe someone like Vince Done get, What could
- 22:29Speaker 5: someone like maybe Jared McCann get. And I'm just throwing
- 22:32Speaker 5: those names out there as an example, there's really, I think,
- 22:36Speaker 5: you know, no significance of you know, a word. I've
- 22:39Speaker 5: heard that they're involved in any kind of trade talks.
- 22:42Speaker 5: But examples of players who still have a little bit
- 22:45Speaker 5: more miles I think left on the tank. Those tend
- 22:49Speaker 5: to be the the kind of players and the kind
- 22:51Speaker 5: of names and play that could, you know, get you
- 22:54Speaker 5: somebody that is going to immediately contribute on your top line.
- 23:00Speaker 5: They make a substantial amount of money done much more so,
- 23:03Speaker 5: although with the cap going up, you know, where he
- 23:05Speaker 5: fits into the grand scheme kind of goes back down
- 23:08Speaker 5: a bit and makes them a little bit more flexible
- 23:10Speaker 5: for teams who can take on that kind of a contract.
- 23:14Speaker 5: But you know, we've heard from players like those that
- 23:16Speaker 5: they want to be a part of this solution. So
- 23:19Speaker 5: it's going to require some kind of fine tuning. You know,
- 23:21Speaker 5: if you're Jason Boddell to figure out, you know, what
- 23:24Speaker 5: works best for you, what works best for the team
- 23:27Speaker 5: that you're dealing with here, and then what's appropriate to
- 23:31Speaker 5: move out the door for the kind of guy that
- 23:33Speaker 5: you want to bring in. I would say for the
- 23:35Speaker 5: cracking with what they want to do with I think
- 23:37Speaker 5: number one overturn of the roster here as far as
- 23:40Speaker 5: you know, the baseline skill, what they have on paper,
- 23:43Speaker 5: almost anything could be in play Number two for the
- 23:46Speaker 5: kind of culture that they want to change. And Lane
- 23:48Speaker 5: Lambert is a part of this. I think Bobby McMahon,
- 23:51Speaker 5: you know, signing up for another you know, six years
- 23:54Speaker 5: certainly says a lot. He's a big part of this.
- 23:57Speaker 5: But there's you know, quite a few names and way
- 24:00Speaker 5: where if you can move them, I think there's some
- 24:02Speaker 5: flexibility to do that and get a pretty good, good
- 24:06Speaker 5: deal done.
- 24:06Speaker 1: Vin Stun's seven point three five million Captain returns thirty
- 24:09Speaker 1: in October. This is Mike Benton on ninety three point
- 24:12Speaker 1: three Kid jerfim Mike.
- 24:14Speaker 2: Which move has the bigger long term impact on the franchise?
- 24:20Speaker 2: Is it locking up McCann for six years or acquiring
- 24:23Speaker 2: Mackie's upside.
- 24:27Speaker 5: Short term assive right now, Bobby McMahon, and he's proven
- 24:31Speaker 5: that he's a player who's able to sniff thirty goals.
- 24:34Speaker 5: He's you know, he's already thirty years of age. He's
- 24:36Speaker 5: kind of a late bloomer. But what I love about
- 24:39Speaker 5: his game is that you know, everything is earned, nothing
- 24:43Speaker 5: is given. He's a self made player. He wasn't drafted,
- 24:47Speaker 5: and you know, I think, for me talking to him
- 24:49Speaker 5: for the first few weeks that he's here, I think
- 24:53Speaker 5: the work complacency is not in this man's vocabulary, and
- 24:57Speaker 5: he has no desire to make it a part of
- 24:59Speaker 5: his vocabulary. And it's a pretty dangerous word when you know,
- 25:03Speaker 5: you talk about players who worked so hard to reach
- 25:06Speaker 5: the pinnacle of their career in being in the NHL,
- 25:10Speaker 5: but it's often harder to even stay in the NHL
- 25:13Speaker 5: and be as productive as you can be. But he
- 25:16Speaker 5: came out of Colgate, wasn't drafted, began the ECHL, moved
- 25:20Speaker 5: his way gradually through the American Hockey League, kind of
- 25:23Speaker 5: like the Triple A, you know of the NHL, if
- 25:25Speaker 5: you will, then found a spot on the leaves and
- 25:28Speaker 5: they're going through a teardown right now, borderline without saying,
- 25:31Speaker 5: you know, someone like Austin Matthews, but when he alive,
- 25:34Speaker 5: there was plenty of talent and not much space for
- 25:37Speaker 5: him to find a role and then be able to
- 25:40Speaker 5: get the kind of ice time he needed to produce.
- 25:42Speaker 5: But yet he overcame those odds and he found a
- 25:45Speaker 5: way to produce and now he's got a big payday
- 25:47Speaker 5: as a result. So that tells me he still got
- 25:49Speaker 5: some miles left here in the tank. I think to
- 25:52Speaker 5: really do this and do it at a high level,
- 25:54Speaker 5: say into a thirty three, thirty four, maybe even thirty
- 25:58Speaker 5: five as well, we.
- 25:59Speaker 4: Just vich I'm very sam U Stevitch, I'm.
- 26:02Speaker 5: Very curious about because the Kraken made this trade not
- 26:06Speaker 5: on resume but on potential. Greg as you mentioned, he's
- 26:10Speaker 5: still only twenty three years of age.
- 26:13Speaker 1: I think based on where he was.
- 26:15Speaker 5: Playing in this lineup with Florida, there was little to
- 26:19Speaker 5: virtual no shot for him to get into the top
- 26:22Speaker 5: six and top six guy is the potential that has
- 26:25Speaker 5: been the label slapped on him ever since he was
- 26:28Speaker 5: drafted first round by the Panthers. That when you consider
- 26:32Speaker 5: the cups they won, the franchise Day Bill and the
- 26:35Speaker 5: players that they brought him.
- 26:37Speaker 1: Here's their depth chart on.
- 26:38Speaker 5: Right wing where he plays in the playoffs, Sam Reinhardt,
- 26:42Speaker 5: Matthew could chuck rad mar Shand and when they got
- 26:46Speaker 5: to the Cup final, he was getting scant fourth line minutes.
- 26:48Speaker 5: Swap of a guy named Joona Ganjovic, and now they
- 26:51Speaker 5: just made a blockbuster trade for Matthew's brother, Brady could chuck.
- 26:55Speaker 5: So the bill was pretty slam shut out there. As
- 26:58Speaker 5: far as his underlying shot attempts, that's a turn off
- 27:03Speaker 5: and thrown around at five on five the percentage he
- 27:06Speaker 5: was top two on this team this last year shot
- 27:10Speaker 5: quality at five on five. That's an analytic that's been
- 27:12Speaker 5: thrown around a lot to really describe how useful a
- 27:16Speaker 5: player is at generating great looks and great offense. He
- 27:20Speaker 5: was again tops on this entire among the top two
- 27:23Speaker 5: on this entire team as well, and granted for the
- 27:26Speaker 5: injuries that they had, it says a lot. So it's
- 27:29Speaker 5: a trade they made based on potential. Could he hit
- 27:32Speaker 5: twenty five goals, maybe thirty goals. I don't think it
- 27:35Speaker 5: is out of the question. There's going to be a
- 27:37Speaker 5: think some more growth with him. You know, there's obviously
- 27:40Speaker 5: the skill part that he has. He's very speedy, He's
- 27:43Speaker 5: got a good quick twitch shot. He told me during
- 27:45Speaker 5: the conference call he loved watching Matt Barzel, who played
- 27:48Speaker 5: in this team here for the Thunderbirds. In his compete level,
- 27:52Speaker 5: but I'd say you put him with the right line
- 27:53Speaker 5: mates that could really work out well. And because he
- 27:57Speaker 5: plays the speed game, maybe depending upon what lane Lambert wants.
- 28:00Speaker 5: I'm throwing this out there. Al Koniski did so last
- 28:03Speaker 5: night on our podcast. What if you had him? A
- 28:07Speaker 5: guy was speeding the left wing in Bobby McMahon and
- 28:10Speaker 5: then Matty Veneer's in the middle.
- 28:12Speaker 1: You want speed, you got speed. That could be fun
- 28:16Speaker 1: to watch real quick. Yes or no? Mike's Austin Matthews
- 28:20Speaker 1: get traded this summer and if yes, are the Kracking
- 28:22Speaker 1: going to be involved?
- 28:26Speaker 5: I don't think so. This summer could have been maybe
- 28:28Speaker 5: next year potentially. I think from what we've heard, he
- 28:31Speaker 5: wants to make this work out, being that there's a
- 28:33Speaker 5: lot of changeover and that begins with upper management going
- 28:36Speaker 5: through their new head coaching higher. But there's gonna be
- 28:39Speaker 5: a lot of names here on the move. I mean,
- 28:41Speaker 5: would the Kraken benefit from a guy like Aushtin Matthews
- 28:44Speaker 5: one hundred and eighty six percent. Yes, But we're in
- 28:47Speaker 5: a day and age now, Greg where you're seeing more
- 28:50Speaker 5: and more players begin to really harness control of their future.
- 28:54Speaker 5: And the word no movement clause is now becoming the
- 28:58Speaker 5: three buzzy of buzzwords in the NHL because players can
- 29:04Speaker 5: now control where they want to go to, they controlled
- 29:08Speaker 5: the the the teams where they do want to go.
- 29:12Speaker 5: And latest example here of this is Brady Construct. So
- 29:16Speaker 5: you know, should Matthews not want to come to Seattle,
- 29:19Speaker 5: and I'm just using this here as a hypothetical, there's
- 29:21Speaker 5: a very good chance he wants to go to a
- 29:24Speaker 5: contender like say in you know, Florida, in Vegas, maybe
- 29:29Speaker 5: with Los Angeles they have Andrea Coo Patar as well
- 29:32Speaker 5: going out the door. Those are teams that have banked
- 29:35Speaker 5: on a longer track record of success and they've grown
- 29:39Speaker 5: to the statue where they have grown to. Now, as
- 29:41Speaker 5: far as a championship window, can the Kraken get there? Yes,
- 29:45Speaker 5: but there are still certainly some word to do. So
- 29:48Speaker 5: it really depends upon what you can do. I think
- 29:50Speaker 5: this year as far as turning this around to take
- 29:53Speaker 5: those next steps maybe, and what was a season that
- 29:56Speaker 5: really just kind of fell out the tracks after the
- 29:58Speaker 5: trade deadline. But one I like right here being that
- 30:01Speaker 5: if they don't get a guy like Matthews, there are
- 30:04Speaker 5: still other terrific pieces out there available by trade. And
- 30:08Speaker 5: the one thing I've noticed is that the Kracking are
- 30:10Speaker 5: so I think leaning into more of the hints of
- 30:14Speaker 5: development and the hints of you, being that they've been
- 30:17Speaker 5: talking a lot about getting Berkeley Katt and more ice time,
- 30:21Speaker 5: getting younger players more ice time. The coaches that they hired, say,
- 30:24Speaker 5: in Pascal Vincent hiring a guy, and Patrick Olvine, who
- 30:27Speaker 5: had a big hand in Pittsburgh's development with three Stanley cups,
- 30:31Speaker 5: you know, there's.
- 30:32Speaker 1: A lot more out there.
- 30:33Speaker 5: I think that they believe they can tap into this
- 30:37Speaker 5: roster and fix what they have already and open more
- 30:40Speaker 5: and more doors here for the young players that they
- 30:43Speaker 5: have that could also pay him big dividends.
- 30:45Speaker 1: And that's a big reason.
- 30:46Speaker 5: If they can open those doors, they're going to be
- 30:48Speaker 5: well on their way.
- 30:49Speaker 1: Mike Ben, Thanks Pops, Thanks coach. We'll see what happens
- 30:53Speaker 1: draft this weekend. Cracking picking seventh, Thanks here right back
- 30:57Speaker 1: at you, Pops. Happy Father's Day. Thank you appreciate that.
- 31:00Speaker 1: Benton Urn pre postgame in between period hosts here on
- 31:03Speaker 1: the Krack and Audio Network talking about the Crackings two
- 31:05Speaker 1: big moves yesterday and effect they draft seventh overall with
- 31:08Speaker 1: some trade chips that they still want to make more
- 31:10Speaker 1: moves up next. Brian Schmetcha, the Sounders coach, gave me
- 31:14Speaker 1: a prediction Friday before the US Australia match. It sounds
- 31:17Speaker 1: maybe like he knows what he's talking about a little bit.
- 31:20Speaker 1: Plus what Christian Rodan told me and a couple others
- 31:22Speaker 1: in the mix zone after the match Friday that US
- 31:25Speaker 1: teammates are talking to him about about Seattle. That's next,
- 31:29Speaker 1: and then Nico Moreno will talk to us at eleven
- 31:31Speaker 1: o'clock on ninety three point three KJRFM. Welcome back to
- 31:38Speaker 1: the Greg Belt Show with Christopher Kid Live on ninety
- 31:40Speaker 1: three point three KJRFM. Just happening right now in the
- 31:44Speaker 1: World Cup, Lionel Messi has just broken the World Cup
- 31:46Speaker 1: record for most goals scored in a career. He passed
- 31:49Speaker 1: Mersa Closo with his seventeenth goal about ten minutes ago,
- 31:53Speaker 1: seventeenth of his World Cup career. Ten minutes ago give
- 31:56Speaker 1: Argentina one ZERL leader on Austria ongoing outside out of Dallas.
- 32:00Speaker 1: On Friday, Brian Smetzer came into Jimmy's on First across
- 32:03Speaker 1: the street from the stadium before the US Australia match
- 32:06Speaker 1: and live on the air, gave this assessment when I
- 32:09Speaker 1: asked him about the US chances in the Cup. What
- 32:11Speaker 1: to you as a realistic expectation for where this team
- 32:14Speaker 1: goes Visa VI, France, Spain, Argentina, Germany, England just the
- 32:20Speaker 1: name of you.
- 32:21Speaker 6: Well, look, I'm a supporter, I'm a US fan. Let's
- 32:26Speaker 6: get first in the group. Let's get a good draw
- 32:29Speaker 6: in the round of thirty two, round of sixteen, for sure,
- 32:33Speaker 6: make it. Make it there, and then after that, you know,
- 32:36Speaker 6: then it's depth, it's injuries, its form. If the US
- 32:40Speaker 6: goes on a good run of form, hey they could
- 32:43Speaker 6: do it.
- 32:44Speaker 1: Do it as in the final, for sure. I double check,
- 32:49Speaker 1: he said, why not? He just caught up in the moment.
- 32:52Speaker 1: So that path that coach Metro just outlined for us,
- 32:55Speaker 1: they're already in. The US is already in the round
- 32:57Speaker 1: of thirty two. The Turkey game in Los Angeles, Thursday,
- 33:00Speaker 1: seven pm pregame at six thirty match here on seven
- 33:03Speaker 1: on ninety three point three KJR. That will not have
- 33:05Speaker 1: any bearing on their seating there in the round of
- 33:07Speaker 1: thirty two. As a group winner right now, they could
- 33:10Speaker 1: play Bosnia, the Ivory Coast, Ecuador, Sweden, Qatar. If Katarkan
- 33:14Speaker 1: beat Bosnia Herzegovina on Wednesday at noon at Lehmanfield, they
- 33:19Speaker 1: could play potentially Japan or Senegal or Algeria or Jordan.
- 33:23Speaker 1: Or wins that game, you just gonna be favored against
- 33:26Speaker 1: all of them. Jackson Feltz then points out the round
- 33:29Speaker 1: of sixteen on Monday, July sixth right here at Seattle Stadium.
- 33:33Speaker 1: If the US wins the round of thirty two match,
- 33:36Speaker 1: they will play here in Seattle on the round of sixteen,
- 33:38Speaker 1: and opponents could be Belgium, Egypt, whoever wins that group, Jetnya,
- 33:43Speaker 1: South Africa, Ecuador, Uruguay, ky Verday, Senegal, Jordan, Algeria if
- 33:50Speaker 1: they're upset winners over a top group winner. But the
- 33:54Speaker 1: Egypt Belgium group winner is going to be the favorite
- 33:57Speaker 1: in that other side of the bracket that the US
- 33:59Speaker 1: is in for the on to sixteen. Christian Rodon he
- 34:04Speaker 1: didn't play on Friday. He hasn't played through the first
- 34:06Speaker 1: two matches. The Sounders star on the World Cup roster.
- 34:10Speaker 1: This is his second World Cup. He was in the
- 34:12Speaker 1: mix zone after the match on Friday, and I mean
- 34:17Speaker 1: teammates were talking about the Blackhawks flying over, the noise
- 34:20Speaker 1: and the noise and the noise, and Rolldn, i mean
- 34:25Speaker 1: Baligan started the game, said it was special. It's tough
- 34:27Speaker 1: to put into words the national anthem and then you're
- 34:30Speaker 1: seeing the helicopters go above is really special, Belgun said.
- 34:34Speaker 1: And so on the bench, roll Don was having teammates
- 34:38Speaker 1: raving about the crowd and the city in general. Rodan said,
- 34:41Speaker 1: you know, quote Rodon. Some of them even spoke to
- 34:45Speaker 1: me about playing for Seattle in the future. He smiled
- 34:48Speaker 1: and said, that's what you want to hear. So there's
- 34:50Speaker 1: dudes on the US bench here like, wow, you get
- 34:52Speaker 1: this all the time. I need to play here. That
- 34:55Speaker 1: story is in the Neewstribune dot com. There are some
- 34:58Speaker 1: players in the US roster who have expiring contracts overseas
- 35:01Speaker 1: who might want to come back. People immediately say, hey,
- 35:04Speaker 1: let's bring Christian Polistic and become a Sounder. It's happened
- 35:07Speaker 1: before Clint Dempsey. There have been MLS stars Ibrahimitch and
- 35:12Speaker 1: David Beckham being the most famous one, have come from
- 35:14Speaker 1: the end of their careers at Europe and play in
- 35:16Speaker 1: MS and Seattle woke up a few people who didn't
- 35:19Speaker 1: already know about our soccer fandom and absolute noise in
- 35:23Speaker 1: that stadium when it's packed for soccer. They do now
- 35:26Speaker 1: and they're going to see it again July sixth, especially
- 35:29Speaker 1: if the US wins the round to thirty two match
- 35:31Speaker 1: up next. Nico Moreno, Fox thirteen, Seattle Mlsespianola columnist, he
- 35:37Speaker 1: joined us Friday. He's going to join us again talk
- 35:38Speaker 1: about what he saw in that US Australia match and
- 35:41Speaker 1: much more on the World Cup eleven thirty. We'll reback
- 35:44Speaker 1: your text from the Takomadadge text line four nine, four
- 35:46Speaker 1: or five one that's coming up on ninety three point
