- 0:00Speaker 1: The following program is produced by the Tech Talk Radio Network.
- 0:03Speaker 2: Hey, it is Deatrich Vader for Batman and you're listening
- 0:05Speaker 2: to TikTok Radio.
- 0:08Speaker 3: Welcome to another episode of tech Talk Radio.
- 0:11Speaker 1: I'm Andy Taylor, I'm Sean de weirdt Slick, and I'm justin.
- 0:16Speaker 4: Welcome to have you guys here.
- 0:17Speaker 3: Yeah, welcome. We missed you last week, justin you were.
- 0:20Speaker 1: In Viva Las Vegas thinking about Viva Los Vegas obviously
- 0:25Speaker 1: did not win.
- 0:26Speaker 4: Oh god, no, do you think I'd be here?
- 0:29Speaker 1: Do you you remember the last time all three, well
- 0:31Speaker 1: three of us, Sean, unfortunately, we missed you. It was
- 0:35Speaker 1: during CS that we went to Vegas.
- 0:36Speaker 4: I was doing do you know what? Do you know
- 0:38Speaker 4: how much Vegas has changed since then? Really it's not
- 0:43Speaker 4: even recognizable anymore to when we were back what was
- 0:46Speaker 4: at twenty sixteen, twenty seventeen, whatever, I mean, it's yeah,
- 0:51Speaker 4: I mean, just so much has changed. Uh, you know
- 0:53Speaker 4: when I was there the morning, the morning that I
- 0:56Speaker 4: arrived obviously was before I arrived because they did it
- 0:58Speaker 4: at like two o'clock in the morning, but they imploded
- 1:01Speaker 4: the Tropicana.
- 1:02Speaker 1: I was just gonna ask if you you saw them
- 1:04Speaker 1: do that, or at least I didn't see it, but
- 1:06Speaker 1: my co workers who were there.
- 1:07Speaker 4: So I was there for a conference, the World Water
- 1:09Speaker 4: Park Association conference at the Paris Las Vegas. But some
- 1:14Speaker 4: of my co workers who had been there, you know,
- 1:16Speaker 4: arrived the day before. They walked out there and at
- 1:19Speaker 4: literally like two in the morning and went and watched it.
- 1:22Speaker 4: They said, it was really really cool. But yeah, the
- 1:25Speaker 4: Tropican is gone, and that's right across the street from
- 1:27Speaker 4: the Luxor. That's that's where we were staying when we
- 1:31Speaker 4: were there for ces. But what's going in its place?
- 1:35Speaker 4: Can you guess?
- 1:36Speaker 3: Oh? Is it gonna be a ball the ballpark right?
- 1:39Speaker 4: Yeah, the new ballpark for the Athletics.
- 1:41Speaker 1: Wait, so you're gonna be driving down the strip and
- 1:44Speaker 1: you're gonna have a baseball stadium right.
- 1:47Speaker 4: There right there.
- 1:48Speaker 3: That's that's kind of weird.
- 1:50Speaker 4: And then you'll have the lux sore, and then behind
- 1:52Speaker 4: the Luxor you'll have, uh, what is that Allegiant stadium?
- 1:58Speaker 4: That really horrible NFL team that's like Tom Brady partially
- 2:02Speaker 4: owns Now.
- 2:03Speaker 1: Don't sugarcoat your feelings there. But from what I understand, though.
- 2:07Speaker 4: Matt's not here, so I can talk about it.
- 2:09Speaker 3: Oh, there you go.
- 2:10Speaker 1: But from what I understand is you're gonna get a
- 2:13Speaker 1: great view of the baseball stadium from the lux Is
- 2:17Speaker 1: it the Luxor or whatever hotel is there, or they're
- 2:19Speaker 1: building a hotel.
- 2:20Speaker 4: Well, MGM Grand is on one corner, Luxor is on
- 2:23Speaker 4: the other, and then I guess.
- 2:26Speaker 3: Ex Caliber, I guess. I don't know.
- 2:28Speaker 4: I think they said that the views are going to
- 2:30Speaker 4: come from the Luxor because that's the taller of the two,
- 2:32Speaker 4: But I'm not exactly sure how the stadium is going
- 2:35Speaker 4: to be laid out. If I were a guessing person,
- 2:38Speaker 4: I would think that they're probably gonna have an open
- 2:40Speaker 4: air back and they're going to face the back to
- 2:44Speaker 4: the northwest, which will then overlook all of the hotels
- 2:47Speaker 4: in the strip. So like when you're sitting at home Plate,
- 2:51Speaker 4: you know, or whatever, you're looking out and you're seeing
- 2:53Speaker 4: the strip. That's that's my guess.
- 2:56Speaker 1: Did you know when you go to Vegas, Sean, have
- 2:58Speaker 1: you ever been in Las Vegas twice? Where do you
- 3:00Speaker 1: normally stay that everybody has their preference.
- 3:03Speaker 2: I honestly don't remember where we stayed because it was
- 3:08Speaker 2: no It was off Fremont Street, Dishkow. I went twice
- 3:14Speaker 2: and it was once was it was on my way
- 3:17Speaker 2: to San Diego when I moved out there in twenty eleven,
- 3:20Speaker 2: so I was with my mom. So as exciting as
- 3:24Speaker 2: that sounds, right, it's like what was my mom? And
- 3:27Speaker 2: then the second time, the second time I went, it
- 3:31Speaker 2: was when I moved back from San Diego in July
- 3:35Speaker 2: of twenty thirteen, and we got caught in a monsoon
- 3:39Speaker 2: and more than like it was impossible to do anything,
- 3:43Speaker 2: like our hotel had like a foot of water in
- 3:46Speaker 2: the in the lobby, like I remembers, like we didn't
- 3:51Speaker 2: we didn't have It was a worthless experience, like we
- 3:55Speaker 2: went eate dinner and went to sleep. That was it.
- 3:57Speaker 4: Well, you know what, that's probably the best thing that
- 3:58Speaker 4: could happen to you in Vegas to be on us,
- 4:00Speaker 4: probably because I mean, but when I would mentioned that
- 4:04Speaker 4: Vegas was unrecognizable, it is also unattainable. I mean picture this.
- 4:11Speaker 4: I mean I'm staying at the Paris, which is right
- 4:14Speaker 4: on the strip, you know, so so yes, obviously everything
- 4:16Speaker 4: on the strip is going to be more expensive. A
- 4:18Speaker 4: bottle of Dasani water seven fifty for a bottle of water. Yeah,
- 4:26Speaker 4: for a pack of smokes, which I don't smoke anymore,
- 4:30Speaker 4: but I just happened to be in line and the
- 4:31Speaker 4: guy got a pack of smokes. Twenty three dollars no way,
- 4:35Speaker 4: Yeah for a pack of smokes. Wow, It's it's ridiculous.
- 4:40Speaker 3: Didn't it used to be.
- 4:40Speaker 1: I mean I remember going to you know, going with
- 4:43Speaker 1: my my parents when I was a kid, and we'd
- 4:47Speaker 1: stay at the well heck, I think we would stay
- 4:50Speaker 1: at the Tropicana.
- 4:51Speaker 4: I remember Sid Sanna or the Filamingo or the Sahara,
- 4:54Speaker 4: maybe Circus Circus.
- 4:56Speaker 1: I remember meeting Sid Cherie, you know, the famous you
- 5:00Speaker 1: know dancer from the time period, and her husband was
- 5:03Speaker 1: an actor at one of the pools, and it was just,
- 5:05Speaker 1: you know, it was an experience. But one thing you
- 5:08Speaker 1: could always count on that two dollars ninety nine cent breakfast.
- 5:11Speaker 5: You know.
- 5:12Speaker 4: It was like that is yeah, there's no way in
- 5:14Speaker 4: heck you're gonna get that anywhere. I had a breakfast
- 5:17Speaker 4: sandwich at the Paris from Bobby's Burgers, so the famous
- 5:20Speaker 4: chef Bobby Flay. Oh yeah, yeah. Now, I gotta say
- 5:24Speaker 4: the sandwich was amazing. It was like a brioche bun.
- 5:29Speaker 4: Soft scrambled egg folded over with crispy bacon and like
- 5:33Speaker 4: a thousand Island dressing and potato chips on the burger, right,
- 5:38Speaker 4: and it was like sixteen dollars. But I'll tell you
- 5:40Speaker 4: right now, that thing that was actually worth it. I
- 5:42Speaker 4: mean that that that that tided me through lunch. I
- 5:45Speaker 4: mean I didn't even have lunch, but I mean just
- 5:47Speaker 4: the price of everything, Like I bought a Starbucks canned
- 5:51Speaker 4: coffee that what is that double shot thing? Yeah? Yeah,
- 5:54Speaker 4: nine dollars my gosh, you know yeah, I mean it's
- 5:58Speaker 4: just it's ridiculous. And then try to gamble, Yeah, good luck.
- 6:02Speaker 4: There's there's I mean, the minimum bet on anything you
- 6:05Speaker 4: play there is fifteen dollars. What and that's that's the
- 6:09Speaker 4: court of Spots. Oh well, I mean I down, yeah,
- 6:13Speaker 4: I place. I play table games, so craps, blackjack, you
- 6:16Speaker 4: know whatever, fifteen dollars minimum. And that's when you're playing
- 6:20Speaker 4: at like one pm, when it hits like six pm.
- 6:24Speaker 4: The minimum tables twenty five dollars, like per bet.
- 6:28Speaker 3: I remember playing the two dollars tables, you know?
- 6:30Speaker 5: Yeah, well I remember I remember you playing the two
- 6:32Speaker 5: dollar tables. Yes, Andy, Andy, you know what time it
- 6:36Speaker 5: is Andy, and.
- 6:40Speaker 4: I lost a couple hundred bucks, you know. I mean,
- 6:42Speaker 4: I didn't really have a lot of time because I
- 6:43Speaker 4: was there for a conference and we did the other things.
- 6:45Speaker 4: But I made a little bit of time. I walked
- 6:46Speaker 4: down go to the craps table, five minutes later, walk
- 6:49Speaker 4: back up to my room one hundred dollars for But yeah,
- 6:54Speaker 4: but here's the cool thing though. The room that I got,
- 6:56Speaker 4: I don't know how I got it. It was booked
- 6:58Speaker 4: through my company, but it was on the twenty fifth
- 7:01Speaker 4: floor facing the sphere. Oh oh to see that, well
- 7:08Speaker 4: kind of it was behind the Horseshoe because the Horseshoe
- 7:11Speaker 4: is adjacent to the Paris So I only got to
- 7:15Speaker 4: see the top maybe maybe the top quarter of it, right,
- 7:19Speaker 4: But that's all I needed. That thing is so insanely bright,
- 7:25Speaker 4: Like I had to close. I had to do the
- 7:27Speaker 4: blackout curtains, and I thought, you know, I thought, no,
- 7:29Speaker 4: no worries, this thing will turn off at midnight. Nope, no,
- 7:33Speaker 4: three in the morning. It is still going strong.
- 7:37Speaker 5: Vega.
- 7:38Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, I I wake up. I woke up
- 7:40Speaker 4: at three in the morning. I look out the window
- 7:42Speaker 4: and I see the top of the sphere, and just
- 7:44Speaker 4: so happens at that exact moment was the big smiley
- 7:48Speaker 4: face winking at me, and I'm like, I said some
- 7:52Speaker 4: choice words. I can't see him on the radio, but
- 7:53Speaker 4: I said some choice words at the sphere, and I
- 7:55Speaker 4: went back to bed and I closed the blackout curtains.
- 7:57Speaker 1: You know, I don't understand how they can heap are
- 8:00Speaker 1: are going to be able to maintain the luminosity of
- 8:04Speaker 1: the spear with the heat that they have in Las Vegas.
- 8:08Speaker 1: I mean, we're talking about the heat that just does
- 8:11Speaker 1: not give up. I don't know, Slick Sean, Maybe is
- 8:15Speaker 1: there special because you work with outdoor screens and and
- 8:19Speaker 1: that stuff. Is there special material that they have on
- 8:22Speaker 1: this stuff?
- 8:23Speaker 4: You have no idea to be money money, money, it's
- 8:27Speaker 4: coded in money.
- 8:28Speaker 2: They're they're gonna have to just they're probably replacing panels
- 8:32Speaker 2: every day on that thing.
- 8:33Speaker 5: Yeah, a special on Uh was it Times Square and
- 8:39Speaker 5: us specially when they were putting up the billboards and
- 8:42Speaker 5: all that kind of stuff Electure and they were talking about, uh,
- 8:45Speaker 5: they literally you know, they have all these spare panels
- 8:48Speaker 5: and have to replace them constantly, and it's it's literally
- 8:51Speaker 5: plug and play.
- 8:52Speaker 4: Yeah, definitely plug and play. But I'll tell you right now,
- 8:55Speaker 4: I bend a Times square and I'm sure you know
- 8:57Speaker 4: some of you have too. I remember walking through Times
- 9:00Speaker 4: We're in the dead of winter, and when those LED panels,
- 9:03Speaker 4: those billboards would light up, you could feel the heat
- 9:08Speaker 4: off of them. And we're talking led. I can't even
- 9:11Speaker 4: imagine standing next to the sphere and what that would
- 9:15Speaker 4: feel like, like the feeling of the solar radiation from
- 9:19Speaker 4: that thing.
- 9:19Speaker 1: You know, It's funny because in developing the sphere, I
- 9:23Speaker 1: don't know, do you guys remember I don't remember any
- 9:25Speaker 1: discussion about it, any talking about it. This is it
- 9:28Speaker 1: just all of a sudden boom.
- 9:29Speaker 3: It was there.
- 9:30Speaker 1: You two was going to be the opening act and
- 9:33Speaker 1: this thing was going to be able to change. And
- 9:35Speaker 1: I've seen the yellow face people flying out of Vegas
- 9:39Speaker 1: with the looking at them while they were flying.
- 9:41Speaker 4: Well, there's there's you know it faces the golf course.
- 9:44Speaker 4: I think it's the wind golf course, and it perfectly
- 9:48Speaker 4: lines up with the eighteenth hole. And so what they
- 9:51Speaker 4: did is they actually programmed the sphere to have the
- 9:54Speaker 4: blink the smiley face look down at the eighteenth hole.
- 9:58Speaker 3: Green oh and laugh, oh. That's great.
- 10:01Speaker 4: So if you're on the eighteenth Green and you miss
- 10:03Speaker 4: a putt, you look up, the thing's gonna be laughing
- 10:04Speaker 4: at you.
- 10:06Speaker 3: It's I mean, it's pretty cool. One of the things
- 10:08Speaker 3: you don't have to pay for in Vegas to see it.
- 10:11Speaker 3: It's there.
- 10:11Speaker 4: Sure, yeaeah, no, it's cool. But I mean, honestly, I mean,
- 10:14Speaker 4: Vegas is Vegas, Vegas is is is It's It's like
- 10:19Speaker 4: nothing I've ever seen in my life. I mean, Vegas
- 10:22Speaker 4: is a unique place. And granted, they are trying to
- 10:25Speaker 4: rebrand themselves as instead of the debauchery capital of the world,
- 10:31Speaker 4: it's trying to become more of the family friendly entertainment
- 10:34Speaker 4: capital of the world. And right they're slowly getting there. Yeah,
- 10:38Speaker 4: but you know, you don't see the kind of stuff
- 10:41Speaker 4: that you used to see on the side of the
- 10:43Speaker 4: strip where they're handing out you know.
- 10:45Speaker 3: Yeah, the night.
- 10:48Speaker 1: You're walking, you're walking with your wife or husband and
- 10:52Speaker 1: someone hands you a card. It's got you know, somebody's
- 10:55Speaker 1: not wearing very much clothing to come see them at
- 10:57Speaker 1: some club where they dance, or.
- 11:00Speaker 4: To give them a call and they'll come visit your rooms. Yeah,
- 11:02Speaker 4: I mean, like, yeah, you don't see that very often anymore.
- 11:05Speaker 4: But still you still see some stuff like that. But
- 11:08Speaker 4: you also don't really see the debauchery on the streets anymore,
- 11:11Speaker 4: like people just walking around drunk or whatever. Like the
- 11:14Speaker 4: police do a pretty good job. And I'll tell you
- 11:17Speaker 4: the Las Vegas Metro police, yeah, do not look like
- 11:20Speaker 4: police officers. They look like a military.
- 11:24Speaker 3: Oh wow, God, these guys are wide.
- 11:26Speaker 4: Around with full ar fifteen rifles strapped to their chest,
- 11:30Speaker 4: body proof, you know, armor everywhere, tactical helmets, I mean,
- 11:34Speaker 4: and that's just their daily ware.
- 11:36Speaker 3: Wow.
- 11:37Speaker 1: I've heard like like last time I went there, last
- 11:40Speaker 1: few times, I said, it's a stratosphere.
- 11:42Speaker 3: Uh and you know, I liked it was. It was nice.
- 11:45Speaker 1: It's comfortable skits down away from a lot of that activity.
- 11:48Speaker 1: But I've heard like polics like Bolaggio and Venetian and
- 11:52Speaker 1: all of that, you can go and not even leave
- 11:54Speaker 1: that property, oh and have you could be fine, you
- 11:58Speaker 1: know the same with the Paris.
- 12:01Speaker 4: I mean, so so some of these, some of these
- 12:02Speaker 4: places are actually interconnected because I mean you think about it.
- 12:05Speaker 4: One company owns blocks, ye like MGM owns MGM. It
- 12:11Speaker 4: owns the luxel Vally caliber, the New York, New York.
- 12:13Speaker 4: You've got you know, you've got win Owns, you know,
- 12:17Speaker 4: the win the uh gosh aria Y, you know other places, right,
- 12:23Speaker 4: So they interconnect these places, so like the Paris is
- 12:25Speaker 4: interconnected to the Venetian and the Horseshoe which used to
- 12:30Speaker 4: be Bally's. And then you got like, you know, Bellagio's
- 12:34Speaker 4: connected to I don't know whatever's next door to that one,
- 12:37Speaker 4: but I'd tell you one cool thing that is actually
- 12:41Speaker 4: really cool is leaving when we're coming back, coming from
- 12:43Speaker 4: the airport to the hotel, they're getting set up for
- 12:48Speaker 4: the F one Grand Prix, which they signed a ten
- 12:51Speaker 4: year agreement to have F one in Vegas. So it
- 12:55Speaker 4: is completely transformed the strip because now half of the
- 13:00Speaker 4: rip is shut up, like for instance, the famous Bolagio fountains. Right,
- 13:04Speaker 4: you can no longer just walk right in front of
- 13:06Speaker 4: the Bollagio. It's a giant grand stand, a permanent like
- 13:10Speaker 4: a permanent stand. Oh that's gonna be semi permanent until
- 13:13Speaker 4: the half one leaves ten years from now. But you
- 13:15Speaker 4: cannot just walk the strip and walk right by the
- 13:17Speaker 4: fountains and go, oh look the fountains. No, because there's
- 13:19Speaker 4: a like a four story grand stand that is semi
- 13:24Speaker 4: permanently put in place.
- 13:26Speaker 3: Oh wow.
- 13:27Speaker 4: And in all the roads too, Like the roads they
- 13:29Speaker 4: have the permanent you know, concrete dividers with the chain
- 13:33Speaker 4: link fences you would think like that are getting set
- 13:36Speaker 4: up for an F one race. They've got those everywhere.
- 13:39Speaker 4: And so when it's normal traffic, normal day, people are
- 13:43Speaker 4: literally just driving on the track that is going to
- 13:46Speaker 4: be an F one track.
- 13:48Speaker 3: Wow.
- 13:49Speaker 4: For the race weekend they shut it down.
- 13:50Speaker 1: Let me ask you coming up of course, got another
- 13:53Speaker 1: CEES consumer electronics show put on by.
- 13:56Speaker 3: The happening Oh yeah, oh yeah.
- 13:59Speaker 1: And they're they're already they're already taking pre redg and
- 14:02Speaker 1: doing that all because it will happen in January of
- 14:06Speaker 1: twenty twenty five. But when do we go We're going, right,
- 14:08Speaker 1: That's That's what I'm wondering. I mean, is that something?
- 14:12Speaker 1: Do you think it still serves a huge purpose to
- 14:15Speaker 1: go to CDs that question? Sean?
- 14:18Speaker 2: Yeah, I think it does. I mean, consumer electronics aren't
- 14:21Speaker 2: going away right, search Amazon for what you want now?
- 14:24Speaker 4: I mean, yeah, but you think it's worth it to
- 14:26Speaker 4: put your hands on these things and these prototypes and
- 14:28Speaker 4: see this kind of stuff.
- 14:29Speaker 2: Yeah, I do from a consumer. From a consumer standpoint,
- 14:34Speaker 2: I mean, let's be honest, right, the Consumer Electronic Show
- 14:38Speaker 2: is about networking, and it's about businesses getting their hands
- 14:41Speaker 2: on the new stuff that they're going to sell out
- 14:43Speaker 2: their stores, right, that's what CS is. But it's a
- 14:46Speaker 2: great place for the tech enthusiasts to get their hands
- 14:49Speaker 2: on new stuff and play around with it. And that's
- 14:52Speaker 2: an invaluable it's invaluable, right, I think it's not as
- 14:56Speaker 2: valuable as it once was where the information was his
- 15:00Speaker 2: widespread agree where you had to source your information a
- 15:06Speaker 2: little bit more strategically. Yeah, well, but now you've got
- 15:11Speaker 2: you know, we're a podcast. They're a podcast. Everybody is podcast, right,
- 15:14Speaker 2: So it's like everybody and their brother a podcast. Okay,
- 15:19Speaker 2: everybody and their brother is a tech reviewer. And it's
- 15:23Speaker 2: in the world of the internet. And even from the
- 15:27Speaker 2: time you guys went back in twenty seventeen, whatever, how
- 15:31Speaker 2: much technology in the landscape of tech review has changed.
- 15:36Speaker 1: I'll tell you one of the best time, Slick. I'm
- 15:38Speaker 1: sure you remember as well back and.
- 15:41Speaker 3: Justin I think you were.
- 15:42Speaker 1: Were you in San Diego in two thousand and nine
- 15:45Speaker 1: or two thousand and eight actually and eight.
- 15:47Speaker 4: Yes, yeah, the Navy in two thousand and eight went
- 15:49Speaker 4: straight to San Diego yep.
- 15:50Speaker 3: So yeah, so it was two thousand and eight for Cees.
- 15:53Speaker 1: We were just goofing around with the idea and Slick said,
- 15:58Speaker 1: why don't we try and get one of these companies
- 16:00Speaker 1: used to give us a car to drive to Vegas yep?
- 16:04Speaker 1: And Ford said, sure, here you go. They gave us
- 16:07Speaker 1: a Ford Flex that we drove from from Tucson to
- 16:11Speaker 1: They have somebody deliver it to my house and we
- 16:14Speaker 1: drove it from Tucson to.
- 16:16Speaker 4: And then what did you have to do in return?
- 16:18Speaker 4: Just kind of like review it? Just reviewed it.
- 16:20Speaker 1: I drove it to the TV station when we got back,
- 16:22Speaker 1: and we showed the inside, showed what it looked like,
- 16:25Speaker 1: talked about talked about the drive and.
- 16:27Speaker 3: It was good. It was great.
- 16:29Speaker 4: Can you can you talk to your boy Elon and
- 16:32Speaker 4: get us a cyber truck? That's what I was about
- 16:34Speaker 4: to say, robotaxi.
- 16:36Speaker 5: But there now there are quite a few electric vehicles
- 16:39Speaker 5: out there is we don't have to just talk to Elon.
- 16:41Speaker 5: We can talk. Yeah, there's the one at cast A
- 16:47Speaker 5: Grand what's a I'm trying to remember the name of
- 16:49Speaker 5: their Yeah, they built am a castle grand I'm.
- 16:52Speaker 1: Just saying, we can get a cyber truck though, and
- 16:55Speaker 1: we could start hear me and Slick.
- 16:57Speaker 2: I don't I would not want one.
- 16:59Speaker 3: We could drive.
- 17:00Speaker 1: We could drive to Indiana, pick up pick up Sean,
- 17:03Speaker 1: then drive to Colorado, pick up justin, then drive to Vegas.
- 17:08Speaker 2: He sounds like that sounds like a logistical nightmare.
- 17:10Speaker 5: Yeah, here's a problem with the cyber truck. Let's let's
- 17:13Speaker 5: say we were parking somewhere we're not supposed to be
- 17:16Speaker 5: and Elon finds us, you know on the satellites. Did
- 17:20Speaker 5: you hear about him disabling that cyber truck?
- 17:23Speaker 3: No?
- 17:24Speaker 5: Really, yeah, yeah, he remotely disabled the cyber Sean's as
- 17:28Speaker 5: Google foo out.
- 17:29Speaker 4: He's like, yeah, I want to see this.
- 17:30Speaker 5: Yeah, but this was I don't remember what country it is,
- 17:32Speaker 5: and it's but it was, uh, some guy. It was
- 17:36Speaker 5: you know, one of the military countries if you.
- 17:38Speaker 4: Will, oh that it was the Russian warlord guy. And
- 17:41Speaker 4: then what they did is they put a fifty cal
- 17:44Speaker 4: machine gun on the back of the cyber truck and
- 17:46Speaker 4: they were like, yeah, look at the new cyber truck.
- 17:48Speaker 4: And it was like a Russian forces like the back vehicle,
- 17:51Speaker 4: and Elon's like, yeah, that's a big nope. Yeah, like
- 17:54Speaker 4: this disabled the car, and.
- 17:56Speaker 5: This thing was Elon gave this to me. And Elon
- 17:58Speaker 5: was like, I don't know, one, we don't know if
- 18:01Speaker 5: he really gave it to him. He never denied. But
- 18:04Speaker 5: as soon as it got out, like the guy Eli
- 18:06Speaker 5: gave this to me, well, let me just turn that off.
- 18:08Speaker 4: I honestly, I'm not getting into a war political discussion,
- 18:11Speaker 4: but I think that's kind of funny that everyone could
- 18:13Speaker 4: just be like, yeah, nope and then just disabled the car.
- 18:17Speaker 3: You know what I think is really hilarious.
- 18:18Speaker 1: One of the stories I've heard about the self driving
- 18:20Speaker 1: vehicles and the electric vehicles that we've never really thought about.
- 18:24Speaker 1: And there has been times, of course where people will
- 18:26Speaker 1: get a car and it's just not all that, you know,
- 18:30Speaker 1: not what they can afford, and time goes and they
- 18:33Speaker 1: miss a payment here or miss payment there. These cars
- 18:36Speaker 1: can repo themselves, yeah, and that they will basically if
- 18:42Speaker 1: think about it, you know, if the person you bought
- 18:44Speaker 1: it from or the dealer just says, well they haven't
- 18:47Speaker 1: made a payment in two three, you know months, we'll
- 18:50Speaker 1: repo the car themselves and it'll.
- 18:52Speaker 3: I mean go home.
- 18:53Speaker 4: Tesla's got that new feature. Now what is that actually
- 18:57Speaker 4: smart summon But that is what they would use to
- 19:00Speaker 4: if you want to summon your vehicle from the parking
- 19:01Speaker 4: lot or whatever. But that but that also means that
- 19:04Speaker 4: the car itself can then just go nope and go
- 19:07Speaker 4: right back to the dealership.
- 19:08Speaker 1: All right, So if each one of you could drive
- 19:10Speaker 1: a vehicle to go to Vegas for CS, what would
- 19:13Speaker 1: you want to drive?
- 19:15Speaker 3: Justin? I mean you already have a Tesla, would you want.
- 19:18Speaker 4: To I would want to drive a Tesla model S plaid.
- 19:22Speaker 3: A plaid What is that?
- 19:23Speaker 4: That's their top of the line. It's their best of
- 19:25Speaker 4: the best, most luxurious, fastest, best.
- 19:29Speaker 3: Car they of a you shun man.
- 19:31Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 19:33Speaker 2: I haven't been really following electronic car like anything pick anything.
- 19:40Speaker 3: Hold In s s A Holden SS Really what is that?
- 19:44Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 19:44Speaker 2: Right, it's so Holden is really GM's Australian offshoot of GM.
- 19:51Speaker 3: Yeah, so think.
- 19:52Speaker 2: Of a lot of like GM cars in the US.
- 19:54Speaker 2: They look like the same cars, but they're mate sold
- 19:57Speaker 2: in Australia. It's their Va supercar basically will drive zillion
- 20:03Speaker 2: horsepower right, but holding s want to Yeah, they made
- 20:06Speaker 2: a version of it in the US. They made a
- 20:08Speaker 2: version of the Chevy SS in the US I think
- 20:10Speaker 2: in twenty thirteen twenty fourteen. Maybe didn't sell well, but
- 20:13Speaker 2: like what making it? But that that's my dream car,
- 20:16Speaker 2: like you have and you drive a right hand drive.
- 20:19Speaker 2: Holding SS.
- 20:20Speaker 1: Wasn't the Holding the base model for Mad Max's vehicle
- 20:24Speaker 1: in the original mad I think.
- 20:27Speaker 2: It was, I think, But yeah, so the whole the
- 20:29Speaker 2: whole SS is or for a Ford Falcon or a
- 20:34Speaker 2: common or a Commodore. Oh boy, I like the Australian cars.
- 20:38Speaker 2: I really followed the V eight supercars.
- 20:40Speaker 4: For a long time. I'm looking at a picture shot.
- 20:43Speaker 4: Is this your car your dreams?
- 20:45Speaker 3: Yes?
- 20:46Speaker 2: Well, no, that's that's that's the ute version, right, there's
- 20:49Speaker 2: there's there's.
- 20:50Speaker 3: That's horrific looking.
- 20:51Speaker 4: I mean it looks like the el Camino.
- 20:55Speaker 2: It's probably the the ute SS. I have to look
- 20:58Speaker 2: at that one.
- 20:59Speaker 4: Well, that says the holding Carmodor Sorry, okay, yeah.
- 21:01Speaker 2: That's that's the Commoner. So the Commoore is like the
- 21:03Speaker 2: al Camino.
- 21:05Speaker 4: I mean that still looks pretty.
- 21:06Speaker 1: Sick, but yeah, I think it looks sick as ugly.
- 21:11Speaker 1: It's just that's horrendous.
- 21:13Speaker 4: It's unique.
- 21:14Speaker 3: Oh there you go. How about you?
- 21:16Speaker 5: You know what I really did enjoy when we had
- 21:19Speaker 5: the Ford Flex. I really did so either something very
- 21:23Speaker 5: similar to it with all ticked out, with all the
- 21:25Speaker 5: ports and all that kind of stuff, or if we
- 21:28Speaker 5: could get it, or if I could get it like
- 21:30Speaker 5: an electric motor.
- 21:31Speaker 3: Home or something just you know, electric motory.
- 21:35Speaker 5: I don't think so. I'm just saying, you're saying if
- 21:37Speaker 5: I could, if I had a car.
- 21:39Speaker 4: It would be even feasible with the with the with
- 21:41Speaker 4: the electric fan. Well, no electric van, sure, I think
- 21:45Speaker 4: they got they got the toyotas. I think they have
- 21:47Speaker 4: an electric vanmaz A motor home though, would be interesting
- 21:50Speaker 4: to see. But I think just with the given state
- 21:53Speaker 4: of how big the batteries are and how much torque
- 21:56Speaker 4: and power a motor home would need, I think you
- 21:58Speaker 4: would just end up like being over the limit of
- 22:02Speaker 4: weight to your wander thrust ratio. I don't think it
- 22:06Speaker 4: would be feasible. Maybe in the future it would be, right.
- 22:08Speaker 5: I just want a bunch of captain chairs in it,
- 22:10Speaker 5: with ports and you know, satellite link and all that
- 22:12Speaker 5: kind of stuff.
- 22:13Speaker 4: So yeah, they'll just get you the Star Trek thing.
- 22:16Speaker 5: Oh you mean the shuttle, Sure.
- 22:18Speaker 3: Yeah, you could fly it there.
- 22:19Speaker 1: That's one of the things that sees it will probably
- 22:21Speaker 1: see for twenty twenty five is the flying vehicles, personal
- 22:25Speaker 1: flying vehicles taxis.
- 22:26Speaker 3: Every year they kind of come up with a different
- 22:28Speaker 3: iteration of it.
- 22:30Speaker 1: We'll see a lot of electronic vehicles, you know, vehicles,
- 22:34Speaker 1: we'll probably see I think this year we're going to
- 22:36Speaker 1: see more technology geared at home entertainment that it's taking
- 22:41Speaker 1: kind of a break in the last couple of years.
- 22:43Speaker 4: Do you think that will be the theme? Because remember
- 22:46Speaker 4: the theme that was going on when we were there
- 22:49Speaker 4: back in twenty sixteen.
- 22:51Speaker 3: Was drones, wasn't it.
- 22:52Speaker 4: It was drones? Yeah, everything drones. Sean would have just
- 22:56Speaker 4: been like a kid in a candy store.
- 22:58Speaker 2: I was, even though I wasn't there.
- 23:00Speaker 5: Yeah, that was all I was.
- 23:00Speaker 2: I was. I was in the thick of it, man.
- 23:02Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 23:03Speaker 4: But what I'm saying is is, what do you think
- 23:05Speaker 4: I think it's going to be a I.
- 23:08Speaker 3: Maybe it's integration with AI.
- 23:10Speaker 4: Well, I mean I think we're going to see like
- 23:12Speaker 4: personal AI assistance, like the Tesla one.
- 23:16Speaker 3: Did that really happen? Did they really have robots walking around?
- 23:19Speaker 4: No way, No, they were being remotely controlled.
- 23:23Speaker 3: Yeah, it was.
- 23:24Speaker 2: I think you're going to see announcement of newer phones
- 23:27Speaker 2: with AI. I think you're going to see advancements in
- 23:30Speaker 2: whatever Apple does with their I don't want to even
- 23:33Speaker 2: call it Apple Intelligence because I think that's stupid. But
- 23:38Speaker 2: I think you're just gonna see, Like I think Justice
- 23:40Speaker 2: is right, I think you're going to see a push
- 23:42Speaker 2: on personal AI, personalized AI right, Like you can buy
- 23:48Speaker 2: jat GPT and do more with it for the paid version,
- 23:53Speaker 2: but I think you're going to get your own paid
- 23:56Speaker 2: version that will learn more directly from you in your
- 24:00Speaker 2: daily habits. And I think you're gonna be able to
- 24:02Speaker 2: tie it into everything in your daily life. It's gonna
- 24:04Speaker 2: be able to track you. It's gonna be able to automate.
- 24:06Speaker 2: It's gonna be able to learn your life. It's gonna
- 24:08Speaker 2: be able to track you. It's gonna be able to adapt,
- 24:10Speaker 2: it's gonna be able to that's gonna be automate your life.
- 24:13Speaker 3: Per Yeah, all right, tell you what we get the movie? Yes, yes,
- 24:20Speaker 3: all right, we're gonna we gonna take a quick break.
- 24:21Speaker 1: We come back though, we've got listener questions. Uh, we've
- 24:25Speaker 1: got more tech for you. You can submit your question
- 24:27Speaker 1: tech guys at tech talk radio dot com. I'm Andy Taylor,
- 24:31Speaker 1: I'm Sean de Weird, I am slick, and I'm justin.
- 24:33Speaker 4: Go to our website. Like seriously, tech talk radio dot com,
- 24:37Speaker 4: Go now.
- 24:38Speaker 3: And now fact to tech talk radio.
- 24:41Speaker 4: All right, we have a listener question. It says, Hello, guys,
- 24:44Speaker 4: this is from Bruce all right, Tucson. Does I need
- 24:47Speaker 4: a device that I can hook up to my smart
- 24:49Speaker 4: TVs so I can independently control the volume in a headset?
- 24:54Speaker 4: I see some devices that make claims but have horrible
- 24:57Speaker 4: consumer ratings. Any ideas?
- 25:01Speaker 1: I got one for a product I just looked at, Uh,
- 25:04Speaker 1: just looked at the new Roku Ultra, and I mean,
- 25:11Speaker 1: if you have a pair of Bluetooth headphones, you can
- 25:15Speaker 1: use the remote the new They've got a new two
- 25:18Speaker 1: point zero voice remote to control the volume, and it
- 25:21Speaker 1: would control the volume in the Bluetooth headphones.
- 25:24Speaker 4: So I've got a pair of like bows right, like
- 25:28Speaker 4: headphones that I use and I connect them up to
- 25:30Speaker 4: my TV and I just use the volume control and
- 25:33Speaker 4: the bows to adjust it.
- 25:35Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 25:35Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm not sure if I understand. Now, are you
- 25:37Speaker 4: a head set? Are you connected via Bluetooth to the TV? Yes?
- 25:41Speaker 1: Yeah, so that Yeah, a Bluetooth device rather than just
- 25:45Speaker 1: a headset plugged into the TV should work fine, That's
- 25:49Speaker 1: what I'm thinking.
- 25:49Speaker 4: Yeah, you want to go bluetooth.
- 25:50Speaker 2: Yeah, so if you if you have a Roku TV,
- 25:54Speaker 2: you can get the official This is on iPhone, I'm
- 25:56Speaker 2: sure it works in Android. You can get the official
- 26:00Speaker 2: app and you could do personal listening. Right so I
- 26:04Speaker 2: could pop in my aarpods, open the app, control my
- 26:08Speaker 2: phone and it controls the volume to my earbuds. Oh,
- 26:11Speaker 2: I can take the TV volume right into my earbuds
- 26:13Speaker 2: right right or whatever whatever Bluetooth headphones I have pointed
- 26:16Speaker 2: in and then that way I can also control the TV.
- 26:18Speaker 2: I can, you know, go to my all. It's really great.
- 26:21Speaker 2: We use it all the time. When Max takes the remote,
- 26:23Speaker 2: we don't know where it goes.
- 26:25Speaker 1: I still didn't you buy him a remote, like for
- 26:29Speaker 1: a twenty dollars remote, so you can have We just put.
- 26:31Speaker 2: To Amazon and bought another Roken remote and took the
- 26:35Speaker 2: batteries out of it.
- 26:36Speaker 1: I have found this works great for kids because August,
- 26:40Speaker 1: my grandson was over even just this morning. Give him
- 26:44Speaker 1: a keyboard that doesn't even work anymore. They love keys
- 26:48Speaker 1: and is teaching them abcdp.
- 26:50Speaker 4: Oh, that's actually a really good idea.
- 26:52Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 26:52Speaker 4: So if you've got like an old mechanical one, because
- 26:54Speaker 4: then it makes sounds.
- 26:55Speaker 1: Yeah, they even like that more. I have an old
- 26:57Speaker 1: Linux one as well that he's been having fun with.
- 27:00Speaker 1: That's a Raspberry Pie based and it's I mean, it's
- 27:03Speaker 1: not connected to anything, but he just loves although he
- 27:05Speaker 1: was putting a blueberry on the raspberry on the raspberry
- 27:09Speaker 1: pie button, like, don't do that, kid, get ruined the keyboard.
- 27:14Speaker 4: But yeah, I mean, so, Bruce, I think honestly, I mean,
- 27:17Speaker 4: if unless you're talking about like only wanting a wired headset,
- 27:21Speaker 4: you know, in that case, I'm not exactly sure how
- 27:23Speaker 4: to answer your question. But otherwise I would say just
- 27:26Speaker 4: any Bluetooth headset because with that you're gonna have independent
- 27:30Speaker 4: control in the volume from the headset itself.
- 27:32Speaker 1: Yeah, because he connecting to a smart TV, most of
- 27:35Speaker 1: them will do Bluetooth, yes, Sean.
- 27:37Speaker 2: I will say, I will say there are some. My
- 27:40Speaker 2: father in law had one of these that took an
- 27:43Speaker 2: analog out, so you can take a three and a
- 27:45Speaker 2: half milimeter out to this transmitter and it was like
- 27:49Speaker 2: a low, low, very low powered FM transmitter.
- 27:53Speaker 3: Oh wow, all right.
- 27:54Speaker 2: It would sit behind his TV and you could wear
- 27:57Speaker 2: it right nearby the TV. If you went more more
- 28:00Speaker 2: than fifteen or twenty feet away. I've had, I've seen it,
- 28:02Speaker 2: would it would break up or whatever. But if you
- 28:05Speaker 2: were within eyesight of the TV worked great.
- 28:09Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 28:09Speaker 3: Nice.
- 28:10Speaker 4: Now what if he's talking about being able to control
- 28:13Speaker 4: the volume and have the volume come out through the
- 28:16Speaker 4: TV and a headset, that might be a different whole
- 28:21Speaker 4: different topic.
- 28:22Speaker 1: Well, he did say independently control the volume and a headset,
- 28:25Speaker 1: so I would think maybe he's just worn. But you know,
- 28:28Speaker 1: the thing is, it's like, if you want to watch
- 28:29Speaker 1: it without bothering others, then you only have it isolated.
- 28:32Speaker 1: But if you have it so, you're also turning up
- 28:34Speaker 1: the volume, you know, for maybe maybe you have a
- 28:36Speaker 1: little harder time hearing, so you're wearing headsets what I'm thinking,
- 28:39Speaker 1: But if the family doesn't like it, you know, because
- 28:42Speaker 1: I have to have the volume louder because I've been
- 28:43Speaker 1: wearing headphones for what thirty plus years, so my ears
- 28:47Speaker 1: are you know, pretty much the let the resistance is
- 28:51Speaker 1: way down there. So people walk into the room and go,
- 28:54Speaker 1: why you got it so loud?
- 28:55Speaker 3: I'm like, what are you talking about?
- 28:57Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean that could be the case, but I
- 29:00Speaker 4: mean from based on the question that we received, I
- 29:02Speaker 4: think Bluetooth is the answer.
- 29:04Speaker 3: All right, going Bluetooth.
- 29:06Speaker 5: Are you playing with that Roku ulter yet, the new one?
- 29:08Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 29:09Speaker 1: Actually it's it's funny because they did a little test
- 29:11Speaker 1: on it. So I have Exfinity and I've got, you know,
- 29:16Speaker 1: a box, and I've got the ability with the Exfinity
- 29:19Speaker 1: app to go to Disney Plus Hulu through all my accounts, right,
- 29:23Speaker 1: and it's awful. It's awful using the Exfinity remote to
- 29:29Speaker 1: be able to go.
- 29:30Speaker 3: It takes forever. You will have to wait.
- 29:33Speaker 1: It's awful hooking up the Roku Ultra and going directly
- 29:38Speaker 1: to those services. Now, the Roku Ultra itself is about
- 29:41Speaker 1: thirty percent faster, but just using that to get to
- 29:45Speaker 1: Disney Plus, to get to Hulu, it's like it's like
- 29:48Speaker 1: a major difference. So it made it so much faster
- 29:52Speaker 1: for me. It made the experience better. And you know,
- 29:54Speaker 1: I'm in that phase now where I may be cutting
- 29:56Speaker 1: the cord. At some point pretty soon, the wireless or
- 30:01Speaker 1: ting's service is going to be available in Marana. I'm
- 30:04Speaker 1: maybe picking that up, and I may go ahead and
- 30:06Speaker 1: go with YouTube TV like Justin and Sean have recommended,
- 30:10Speaker 1: and then I'll just keep my subscription services and go
- 30:14Speaker 1: that route. But having the Roku for those subscription services,
- 30:18Speaker 1: it's night and day slick.
- 30:20Speaker 3: It's seriously night and day.
- 30:22Speaker 5: Does anyone played with the new Google TV streamer yet?
- 30:25Speaker 4: I finally was able to get two of them. I
- 30:28Speaker 4: don't have them, but they will be hopefully delivered sometime
- 30:32Speaker 4: in November. It's so back ordered, but I was able
- 30:35Speaker 4: to get my orders in.
- 30:36Speaker 1: I thought it was pretty cool that Google TV is
- 30:39Speaker 1: going to include the Roku channel on their lineup, which
- 30:44Speaker 1: they said they would do so because you know, Roku
- 30:46Speaker 1: does offer a lot of offerings. I mean, if you
- 30:49Speaker 1: don't have to just watch Pluto TV or some of
- 30:51Speaker 1: the other services.
- 30:53Speaker 3: Crackles gone, right, am I right?
- 30:55Speaker 5: Yes? Yeah? They pulled off. Yeah, so that a matter
- 30:57Speaker 5: of fact, I read the story on it just the
- 31:00Speaker 5: other day. One company owned four different services. Crackle was
- 31:03Speaker 5: one of them, and it just you know, just shut
- 31:05Speaker 5: them all down.
- 31:06Speaker 1: Right, what's the best, the best one. I think it's Pluto.
- 31:10Speaker 1: You know, others will say free V. I don't know,
- 31:12Speaker 1: what do you think.
- 31:13Speaker 5: I'm gonna say it depends is pretty good too, which
- 31:17Speaker 5: is good. But the interface is ion ion Ion.
- 31:21Speaker 3: I've never even heard of ion.
- 31:23Speaker 2: It's a lot of science fiction if I remember correctly.
- 31:25Speaker 4: Are you talking about streaming for like actual TV shows
- 31:28Speaker 4: or just streaming services and.
- 31:30Speaker 5: Like an aggregator?
- 31:31Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, creator, Okay, yeah.
- 31:33Speaker 4: I was going to highly recommend Nebula.
- 31:36Speaker 3: Nebula I've heard of that.
- 31:37Speaker 4: Amula is an amazing So a lot of YouTubers got
- 31:41Speaker 4: fed up with YouTube's algorithm and they make like science documentaries,
- 31:47Speaker 4: engineering topics. I mean, you know, actual educational videos that
- 31:52Speaker 4: are interesting. So they all came together and formed Nebula.
- 31:56Speaker 4: And I think Nebula is like thirty bucks a year
- 32:00Speaker 4: and it's all high quality, good content. It's all, you know,
- 32:03Speaker 4: engaging interesting content. I love Nebula.
- 32:07Speaker 1: I'm gonna have to look into that one an I
- 32:09Speaker 1: on this book. I have always wanted to recommend Plex
- 32:12Speaker 1: because plex a TV, because I want Plex to be
- 32:16Speaker 1: around for a while. Because if you think of is
- 32:19Speaker 1: there any other ballgame in town when it comes to
- 32:21Speaker 1: your own media. To be able to rip your DVD
- 32:24Speaker 1: and then put it on your codey uh, but rip
- 32:26Speaker 1: your DVDs, put it on a service or a drive,
- 32:30Speaker 1: and then be able to watch it anywhere, which I
- 32:32Speaker 1: know all of us pretty much do.
- 32:33Speaker 4: The thing about Plex is I'm sorry, but Plex they
- 32:36Speaker 4: just can't get out of their own way, right. They
- 32:39Speaker 4: could be so good, but they just keep screwing things
- 32:43Speaker 4: up internally and they just can't get out of their
- 32:46Speaker 4: own dang way.
- 32:48Speaker 2: Like what the most the most recent one is hilarious
- 32:50Speaker 2: because they they rolled this out and it was not
- 32:53Speaker 2: an opt in. It just was you were in it.
- 32:56Speaker 2: So let's say the four of us you all shared
- 32:59Speaker 2: my PLEX server, right, okay, and maybe I have some
- 33:03Speaker 2: adult content on there that you wanted to watch, right,
- 33:06Speaker 2: and it would give you recommended viewing based on whatever
- 33:11Speaker 2: other people were watching.
- 33:12Speaker 3: Oh no, no, that's not good.
- 33:15Speaker 2: It would it would, It would tell me. Here's a
- 33:17Speaker 2: recap of what Andy watched. Here's a recap of what
- 33:20Speaker 2: justin watched.
- 33:20Speaker 5: Oh we don't need to know what Andy watched, but
- 33:24Speaker 5: people were.
- 33:25Speaker 2: It was not like I was saying, it was not
- 33:27Speaker 2: an opt in. It was automatically enabled on every so
- 33:30Speaker 2: whoever updated to whatever whatever version, it was so all
- 33:33Speaker 2: of a sudden, all these people were like, why is
- 33:35Speaker 2: like why am I getting told that my brother's watching
- 33:38Speaker 2: this video? Or why is you know it? So all
- 33:41Speaker 2: these the people were so mad that this was enabled
- 33:44Speaker 2: by default. Right, so you can just imagine, you know,
- 33:50Speaker 2: could be shot. You know, justica is a show. Sean
- 33:52Speaker 2: watched fifteen hours of Lord of the Rings or whatever. Right,
- 33:55Speaker 2: it's like you to see what other people were watching.
- 33:57Speaker 2: Just just there.
- 34:00Speaker 4: Yeah, excite a good laugh. But that one my point
- 34:03Speaker 4: being plex is an amazing platform. Yeah, but it's just
- 34:07Speaker 4: they keep screwing things up.
- 34:09Speaker 3: Oh boy, all.
- 34:10Speaker 1: Right, here's another listener question. Let's go ahead say if
- 34:12Speaker 1: we can get to this one before we have to
- 34:13Speaker 1: go to break. But says I always seem to think
- 34:16Speaker 1: of taxes late in the year. Yeah, it is kind
- 34:18Speaker 1: of late, isn't it. Are we in October already?
- 34:21Speaker 3: Says uh, but I we're.
- 34:22Speaker 4: Talking about taxes. Yeah, gosh, I don't start talking about
- 34:24Speaker 4: taxes until like end of March.
- 34:25Speaker 1: So, but I started my own business and realized I
- 34:27Speaker 1: could write off mileage when it involves work.
- 34:31Speaker 3: That's a great line. You gotta be careful of that one.
- 34:33Speaker 1: It says, I don't want to do it in the
- 34:34Speaker 1: old fashioned way writing down the mileage. I had a
- 34:37Speaker 1: friend that used to have to do that in a ledger,
- 34:39Speaker 1: would write down every time he got in a car,
- 34:41Speaker 1: where he was going, where you'd go, the whole bit.
- 34:44Speaker 3: Uh. They say, is there a way to track my mileage?
- 34:48Speaker 3: All right?
- 34:49Speaker 1: Uh, I'm kind of familiar with it. I've been doing this,
- 34:51Speaker 1: So there is a couple of options. One of them
- 34:54Speaker 1: has been letting me down a bit.
- 34:56Speaker 3: Uh. It's funny.
- 34:56Speaker 1: That would be the Quick Book Small Business program with mileage.
- 35:00Speaker 1: And what it does is it allows you to do
- 35:02Speaker 1: some basic invoicing. But the cost on this is fourteen
- 35:06Speaker 1: ninety nine a month. Last year it went up from
- 35:09Speaker 1: nine dollars a month to fourteen ninety nine a month.
- 35:12Speaker 1: And it does allow you to track your visits when
- 35:15Speaker 1: you go to one place and then you could say, okay,
- 35:17Speaker 1: that's personal, that's business by swiping left or rights.
- 35:20Speaker 3: Like the tender way of doing it right.
- 35:22Speaker 1: The problem is is that they've had issues lately that
- 35:25Speaker 1: I do know of, and that's working with both iPhone
- 35:29Speaker 1: and Android smartphones for tracking the mileage. I dropped quick books,
- 35:34Speaker 1: but I've kept this and now I'm seeing fourteen ninety nine.
- 35:37Speaker 1: I had called technical support who told me that, yes,
- 35:41Speaker 1: the engineers are having a problem, they're aware of it
- 35:44Speaker 1: and hopefully they'll have an update soon. It hasn't been
- 35:46Speaker 1: working for two and a half weeks. I pay fourteen
- 35:49Speaker 1: ninety nine a month.
- 35:50Speaker 4: It sounds like you need to get your money back.
- 35:52Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm just I'm wondering if I'd got to do
- 35:54Speaker 1: that now I did. I've been looking into the options,
- 35:56Speaker 1: so this is a good this is a good question.
- 35:59Speaker 1: Mile I is another one sounds interesting. So mile iq
- 36:04Speaker 1: has three different pricing options. They do one that's absolutely free,
- 36:08Speaker 1: So if you're a small business and maybe you do
- 36:10Speaker 1: forty drives every month, you can get it for free
- 36:15Speaker 1: and you can classify it just like that personal or business.
- 36:18Speaker 1: I'd recommend if you're doing a personal one, you like
- 36:21Speaker 1: shut the app out so it doesn't do that. Monthly
- 36:25Speaker 1: plan is five ninety nine a month for unlimited drive
- 36:28Speaker 1: tracking and mileage logging, or the annual plan of fifty
- 36:31Speaker 1: nine ninety nine a year. It's kind of saves you
- 36:34Speaker 1: about twelve dollars per year. By doing that and that's
- 36:36Speaker 1: all they do.
- 36:38Speaker 4: That is just like, that's almost like a no brainer.
- 36:40Speaker 4: I mean, QuickBooks small business with mileage fourteen ninety nine,
- 36:43Speaker 4: it's not even working and you're paying fifteen bucks a month,
- 36:47Speaker 4: whereas mile iq is six bucks a month or this person.
- 36:51Speaker 3: You could save money and just do it manually.
- 36:54Speaker 1: But isn't it better if you get some kind of
- 36:56Speaker 1: log isn't there like car systems like cameras that all
- 36:59Speaker 1: log for you as well.
- 37:01Speaker 3: I'm sure that Cobra maybe offers something.
- 37:03Speaker 4: Well, actually, you know what, if you've got a I
- 37:05Speaker 4: don't know about I don't know about Apple, I'm assuming
- 37:08Speaker 4: Apple probably does something very similar. But the thing is,
- 37:11Speaker 4: if you got an Android phone, or even if you
- 37:13Speaker 4: just use Google Maps, you can visit, revisit your location
- 37:18Speaker 4: history anytime in a web browser. And a lot of
- 37:22Speaker 4: people don't even really realize this.
- 37:24Speaker 3: Check this out.
- 37:24Speaker 4: If you use Google Maps or an Android phone or
- 37:26Speaker 4: even on an iPhone with Google Maps, go to like
- 37:30Speaker 4: what is it?
- 37:31Speaker 5: It's your trips or your places.
- 37:34Speaker 4: Or so next time you're at a computer, literally try this.
- 37:37Speaker 4: This is really cool. Go to timeline dot Google dot com.
- 37:42Speaker 4: You can type in any day of the any day,
- 37:45Speaker 4: any month, any year, and it will tell you where
- 37:49Speaker 4: you've been. Oh wow, and it will tell you down
- 37:52Speaker 4: to like the centimeter of where you were. I'm looking
- 37:55Speaker 4: at mine right now. Obviously I see a bunch of
- 37:57Speaker 4: mine in Colorado, because that's where I'm at. But I
- 37:59Speaker 4: also see my old trip back when I went to
- 38:01Speaker 4: visit my mom in South Dakota, went over to Minneapolis.
- 38:04Speaker 4: I see my trip to Las Vegas. I see my
- 38:07Speaker 4: trip to Japan.
- 38:08Speaker 3: Wow.
- 38:09Speaker 4: I mean, what is that address again? Timeline dot Google
- 38:14Speaker 4: dot com?
- 38:15Speaker 3: Perfect?
- 38:16Speaker 1: All, are we gonna take another quick break? We come
- 38:17Speaker 1: back with more of tech Talk Radio. Brand new drone
- 38:20Speaker 1: in the market, and who's gonna tell us about that?
- 38:23Speaker 1: And Sean's raising his hands and Justin is thinking about
- 38:27Speaker 1: getting into something once again, going back to the classics,
- 38:31Speaker 1: and Sean will have the answer on that one as well.
- 38:32Speaker 3: With more of tech Talk Radio. I'm Andy Taylor, I'm
- 38:35Speaker 3: Sean de Weird.
- 38:36Speaker 4: All right, slick, and I'm Justin Send us an X
- 38:39Speaker 4: at tech Talk Radio. We were right back.
- 38:41Speaker 2: Now back to tiff Talk Radio. Another day.
- 38:45Speaker 3: Another drone, Oh, another drone? Who's who put this one out?
- 38:50Speaker 2: DJ? I again, I really think DJI is just cramming
- 38:55Speaker 2: drones down people's throats to get them into the market
- 38:58Speaker 2: before any potential passage of the anti drone bill. Because
- 39:04Speaker 2: the anti Drone Bill, or as they're calling it, the
- 39:07Speaker 2: Anti the Countering CCP Drones Act, it passed in the
- 39:15Speaker 2: House and it's up in the Senate, but they're not
- 39:17Speaker 2: sure when it's gonna actually get discussed in the Senate
- 39:21Speaker 2: because that could impact any new drones that come on
- 39:27Speaker 2: the market. Testing drones on the market won't be affected
- 39:31Speaker 2: by it. So I really think dj I is just
- 39:33Speaker 2: trying to get as many of their new or like
- 39:36Speaker 2: they're just on a blitz of just trying to get
- 39:39Speaker 2: as much hardware in the States and in people's hands
- 39:43Speaker 2: before this. Billard Pitchers pass.
- 39:44Speaker 1: Okay, so recently, so recently, Sean, they put out the Neo,
- 39:47Speaker 1: which people are saying, you could fly it inside.
- 39:50Speaker 3: I mean, it's my.
- 39:51Speaker 2: Neo is tiny, It's got the bumpers on, it's very tiny.
- 39:54Speaker 2: You can fly it inside. You can use gesture commands,
- 39:58Speaker 2: like you could get that model even without an RC
- 40:01Speaker 2: for it or a WoT control for it, so you
- 40:03Speaker 2: can just use gesture and voice commands to fly it.
- 40:06Speaker 3: What's this new?
- 40:07Speaker 2: But they just announced on the fifteenth of October the
- 40:12Speaker 2: DJI Air three S. So they've had the Dji Air,
- 40:16Speaker 2: then they announced the DJIR two. This, then the three
- 40:19Speaker 2: This is this is the three S. The big upgrades
- 40:24Speaker 2: from this one are the new one inch sensor camera.
- 40:30Speaker 3: Whoa wow.
- 40:31Speaker 2: So a one inch sensor on a drone is a
- 40:34Speaker 2: big deal, right, because that's a big sensor for a
- 40:38Speaker 2: small package, And this actually has two different cameras on it.
- 40:43Speaker 2: It's got the one inch Simas sensor which offers a
- 40:46Speaker 2: fifteen to fifty megapixel resolution, and then they have a
- 40:48Speaker 2: medium telephoto camera with a one and one third inch sensor,
- 40:52Speaker 2: so significantly smaller, providing up to nine nine times zoom.
- 40:58Speaker 2: So you have a zoom lens and a static wide angle.
- 41:04Speaker 2: So the benefit of that is you get the advantages
- 41:06Speaker 2: of having both right instead of just one doing both functions.
- 41:11Speaker 2: Improved low light performance one in censored DUH enhanced LIGHTAR
- 41:18Speaker 2: so a lot of the newer drones have lighter on them,
- 41:20Speaker 2: which is laser detecting, so it can they're touting that
- 41:24Speaker 2: this can map and learn your area so that it
- 41:28Speaker 2: can avoid it's they're saying it's the best avoidance on
- 41:32Speaker 2: any drone that exists outside of the way way super
- 41:36Speaker 2: expensive ones. They're touting that this has their best high
- 41:41Speaker 2: speed tracking, which it says it can track objects up
- 41:45Speaker 2: to thirty one miles an hour.
- 41:47Speaker 3: Wow, man, so this thing is quick. What's the flight
- 41:52Speaker 3: time on it? Do they have it listed?
- 41:54Speaker 2: They don't see the flight time on this web page,
- 41:57Speaker 2: but I would imagine it's probably close to thirty this
- 42:02Speaker 2: says UH, with the intelligent battery, forty five minutes of
- 42:06Speaker 2: flight time.
- 42:07Speaker 3: Wowly man, that's good.
- 42:08Speaker 2: So that they're they're they're good, They're they're key right
- 42:11Speaker 2: off their website. They're key points right one inch SEAMAS camera,
- 42:15Speaker 2: seventy milimeters medium tell Us tell A camera, UH, the
- 42:20Speaker 2: dual camera, four K, sixty fps, panorama mode, nightscape, omni
- 42:26Speaker 2: directional obstacle sensing, next gen smart are returned to home
- 42:29Speaker 2: with light R forty five forty five minute flight time.
- 42:33Speaker 2: And then they're saying this is this has never been
- 42:35Speaker 2: a realistic expectation for any drone. They're saying, twenty kilometer
- 42:40Speaker 2: video transmission.
- 42:41Speaker 3: No way, that's pretty far.
- 42:43Speaker 2: No, there's no Yeah, that's I've never trusted anything above
- 42:50Speaker 2: line of sight for any of my drones. So anybody
- 42:52Speaker 2: trying to push those line of sight things is.
- 42:54Speaker 4: Tykilometer is ridiculous.
- 42:56Speaker 3: Yeah No, that's it.
- 42:58Speaker 2: That's it. That's in perfect conditions.
- 43:00Speaker 4: So with with a real plane twenty.
- 43:05Speaker 2: So, uh yeah, it looks it looks pretty sweet. It's
- 43:09Speaker 2: it's priced to be competitive, right. So the drone plus
- 43:13Speaker 2: the controller.
- 43:15Speaker 3: Eleven hundred bucks, that's about what I've spent for my my.
- 43:19Speaker 2: The fly More combo which has two bad two intelligent
- 43:22Speaker 2: flight batteries, the controller of the drone fourteen hundred The
- 43:27Speaker 2: fly More combo with the RC two which has the
- 43:30Speaker 2: built in screen sixteen hundred bucks.
- 43:33Speaker 1: I wonder if the if DJ guy is going to
- 43:35Speaker 1: have an issue trying to get people to understand you
- 43:38Speaker 1: can buy this drone, own this drone and nobody's gonna
- 43:42Speaker 1: come take it away from you, that you're gonna be okay?
- 43:44Speaker 1: Is that something that is there misinformation you think that
- 43:47Speaker 1: they have to be concerned with.
- 43:50Speaker 2: I I think so. I mean I think anybody as
- 43:54Speaker 2: especially as if this gets into the Senate and starts
- 43:56Speaker 2: getting discussed in passed, there's going to be some you know,
- 44:01Speaker 2: you're gonna have the fear mongering, right, you're gonna have
- 44:04Speaker 2: the Oh, China's watching all of our stuff, right, Well,
- 44:07Speaker 2: yeah they are. It's just the nach, it's just the
- 44:09Speaker 2: nature of it, right. But it's they're not worried about
- 44:13Speaker 2: me flying my drone over my house, right, What these
- 44:16Speaker 2: what the concern for all these drones is that they're
- 44:20Speaker 2: worried about people getting them near populated areas. They're worried
- 44:24Speaker 2: about people getting them near top secret sites, right points
- 44:27Speaker 2: of interest, high target things, things like that.
- 44:30Speaker 4: Speaking of that, I mean, what was that news story?
- 44:32Speaker 4: All those drones, those high speed were like going over
- 44:37Speaker 4: air force bases really, and they were they were saying
- 44:40Speaker 4: that they were coming from either China or Russia, but
- 44:43Speaker 4: they could not track them because they were all in
- 44:46Speaker 4: a line. They were all like just like a line
- 44:48Speaker 4: of drones, and they were all one after another, and
- 44:52Speaker 4: they were going at like top speed, like one hundred
- 44:54Speaker 4: and thirty kilometers an hour, and they were flying over
- 44:57Speaker 4: US military installations and and the military could not do
- 45:01Speaker 4: anything about it because they were not under attack, so
- 45:04Speaker 4: they were not going to shoot them down. But yeah,
- 45:07Speaker 4: it's it's all never I had never.
- 45:09Speaker 5: Heard of that, really, I did hear I heard a
- 45:11Speaker 5: little bit about it.
- 45:11Speaker 2: It happened on December sixth of twenty twenty three. The
- 45:14Speaker 2: drones ranged in size. It happened over Langley Air Force
- 45:17Speaker 2: Base back in December of twenty twenty three.
- 45:20Speaker 1: I wonder if there's some kind of jamming that they
- 45:21Speaker 1: could take them down out of the sky by electronic
- 45:24Speaker 1: electronic jamming or I means.
- 45:26Speaker 5: Don't they go on auto. I mean if you lose signal,
- 45:28Speaker 5: you just you know this program.
- 45:31Speaker 2: Yeah, there are electronic nets that can be deployed. There
- 45:36Speaker 2: is there is countermeasures for drones and things like that.
- 45:41Speaker 2: Stuff we're never going to know about because they don't
- 45:43Speaker 2: want you to know about it.
- 45:44Speaker 1: I know this has been this has been an issue
- 45:46Speaker 1: for law enforcement in the Southern border. I know that,
- 45:48Speaker 1: you know they've had drones flying over that they believe
- 45:51Speaker 1: were cartel you know, cartel controlled drones. So I mean
- 45:55Speaker 1: there's all kinds of issues when it comes to these drones.
- 45:58Speaker 1: But again, if you're like you know, you're like us,
- 46:01Speaker 1: We love these for the ability to fly takes some
- 46:04Speaker 1: great photos. I heard the airs the air three s
- 46:08Speaker 1: is going to be great for like real estate for
- 46:10Speaker 1: those that are looking to get photos and video of
- 46:13Speaker 1: real estate properties that are being sold that that could
- 46:16Speaker 1: be a great model for it.
- 46:18Speaker 2: Well, I mean it's easy for it's since drones became
- 46:22Speaker 2: a thing, right twenty ten, twenty eleven, drones just kind
- 46:26Speaker 2: of dropped into the market. Everybody wanted to use them, right,
- 46:30Speaker 2: but they were so restricted. When I got my Part
- 46:34Speaker 2: one oh seven license, I was two weeks away from
- 46:37Speaker 2: getting my pilot's license essentially by what the training I
- 46:40Speaker 2: had to do to get my I had to go
- 46:42Speaker 2: to the airport, I had to take a flight certified
- 46:45Speaker 2: test with a flight instructor. Like it was crazy how
- 46:48Speaker 2: much regulation I had to go through to get my
- 46:50Speaker 2: drone license. And then I was still restricted on where
- 46:54Speaker 2: I could fly it, based on my location, based on
- 46:56Speaker 2: how close we were to the airport, based on if
- 46:58Speaker 2: I was using it for a work or not. So
- 47:01Speaker 2: a lot of that has been streamlined. So now if
- 47:05Speaker 2: Justin wanted to go shoot stuff for his DJ business,
- 47:08Speaker 2: he could just pop his drone up more often than
- 47:11Speaker 2: not anywhere.
- 47:13Speaker 1: Right as long as he's doing an outdoor party or
- 47:16Speaker 1: something like that.
- 47:17Speaker 4: Yeah, well, first off, I couldn't do that if if
- 47:19Speaker 4: I'm not if I'm making money off of an event
- 47:22Speaker 4: or whatever. I can't use my drone because I need
- 47:24Speaker 4: on part one O.
- 47:26Speaker 2: Yeah right, yeah, But what I'm saying is it's very
- 47:28Speaker 2: easy to get your part one oh sevens now. It's
- 47:31Speaker 2: the steps involved and then the process of getting the
- 47:35Speaker 2: applications to fly where you need to fly are very
- 47:38Speaker 2: much more streamlined now than they were a decade ago.
- 47:42Speaker 4: Doesn't seem to make sense to me. Why would they
- 47:44Speaker 4: make it easier to get your part one oh seven
- 47:46Speaker 4: but then be like, oh, but then, by the way,
- 47:48Speaker 4: have fun trying to find a drone. We're gonna ban
- 47:50Speaker 4: them all.
- 47:50Speaker 5: There are some.
- 47:51Speaker 1: Drones that have been made in the United States or
- 47:54Speaker 1: US friendly countries, so you know, we'll have to see
- 47:57Speaker 1: what develops from that.
- 47:59Speaker 3: Listen, I know that you are thinking.
- 48:01Speaker 1: Justin about DSLR, and you are thinking about Babe getting
- 48:06Speaker 1: back into that with mirrorless cameras, and we've talked about
- 48:10Speaker 1: film cameras that Sean has been having fun with.
- 48:12Speaker 3: So what is your thoughts you're reasoning for that?
- 48:15Speaker 4: Well, I mean, I'm gonna have to keep this kind
- 48:17Speaker 4: of short and sweet, but I've been I've been a
- 48:19Speaker 4: nikon guy, right, I mean, when I bought my first DSLR.
- 48:22Speaker 4: I went Nikon and Sean, I think you helped me
- 48:23Speaker 4: pick that thing out back in San Diego. Sure did,
- 48:26Speaker 4: but obviously I've never really expanded upon that. I got
- 48:29Speaker 4: the starter lens, right, I don't have any I'm not
- 48:31Speaker 4: invested into Nikon, right. So my question is I was
- 48:36Speaker 4: talking to a photographer and I'm like, yeah, I'm kind
- 48:39Speaker 4: of thinking about getting back into it. What do you
- 48:41Speaker 4: shoot on? And he's like, well, I used to shoot
- 48:43Speaker 4: on Nikon, but now all the pros are shooting on Sony.
- 48:47Speaker 4: And I'm like, Sony really like Sony, Why, Like they're
- 48:51Speaker 4: not even a camera company. He goes, Sony is making
- 48:55Speaker 4: the censors for Nikon and for Cannon and Fuji Fujitsu
- 49:02Speaker 4: or whatever. Like, Sony is the one making those sensors,
- 49:04Speaker 4: So why would I go with another company who's just
- 49:06Speaker 4: gonna mark that price up? Why not go directly with
- 49:09Speaker 4: the company that makes it and go Sony. So this guy,
- 49:12Speaker 4: I mean, he's a professional photographer. He went out and
- 49:15Speaker 4: spent like twenty five thousand dollars, got himself a really
- 49:19Speaker 4: nice Sony camera body I don't know what model, and
- 49:22Speaker 4: then got himself like like five different lenses, one for
- 49:25Speaker 4: each type of you know thing that he might need
- 49:28Speaker 4: it for like macro portrait, landscape, wide angle, you know, telephoto.
- 49:34Speaker 4: What are your thoughts on it? Like, what would you
- 49:36Speaker 4: go with if you were to get into the industry
- 49:38Speaker 4: right now, notwithstanding what you already own completely new?
- 49:44Speaker 2: Well, I wouldn't buy a DSLR, really, what what? I'd
- 49:49Speaker 2: buy a mirrorless Okay?
- 49:50Speaker 4: Well? Sorry, wow, yes, mirrorless, Yes, I'm right. Should I
- 49:54Speaker 4: say DSLR, I mean like professional photography?
- 49:56Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, right, so let's let's what's clarify right there,
- 50:00Speaker 2: there's a there's a big difference, right, There's a huge
- 50:03Speaker 2: difference in price, there's a huge difference in quality, and
- 50:06Speaker 2: there's a huge difference in what's being developed right now. Right,
- 50:09Speaker 2: So when you say DSLR, right, that that to me
- 50:12Speaker 2: says you're looking at a digital single lens reflex.
- 50:16Speaker 4: Okay, so I should say digital photography.
- 50:19Speaker 2: Say digital photography, right, because there's a difference in in
- 50:22Speaker 2: the capability. There are advantages and disadvantages to both, right,
- 50:27Speaker 2: I would tell you right now, if you're getting into
- 50:29Speaker 2: it to get mirrors, go into mirrorless.
- 50:32Speaker 4: That's where.
- 50:34Speaker 2: So yeah, so you have your big three, Right, You've
- 50:39Speaker 2: got your Sony's, You've got your Nikons, You've got your Cannons.
- 50:43Speaker 2: Each of them are going to be reasonable compared comparatively.
- 50:48Speaker 2: If you're looking at Sony, I mean, you can spend
- 50:50Speaker 2: as much or as little as you want. There are
- 50:53Speaker 2: there are your consumer level, there are your prosumer level.
- 50:55Speaker 2: There there are your hobby professional, and then there are
- 50:58Speaker 2: your professional levels. It all depends on your budget. That right,
- 51:04Speaker 2: You're not gonna get bad quality from any of them.
- 51:07Speaker 2: If you're looking for fast, reliable, speed quality, Sony is
- 51:11Speaker 2: gonna be your best bet because of it. It's price point,
- 51:14Speaker 2: it's lenses options, it's autofocus system, and you're you just
- 51:20Speaker 2: can't go wrong. I mean their mirrorless system is.
- 51:23Speaker 4: I'll take that right there, Sony. I mean, like like
- 51:25Speaker 4: I said, the other guy said Sony, and Sean says, Sony. Hey,
- 51:27Speaker 4: maybe I'll just go with Sony.
- 51:29Speaker 3: Here you go, all right, we're gonna take a quick break.
- 51:31Speaker 1: I'm gonna have to look at Sony down. We'll be
- 51:33Speaker 1: back with more of Tech Talk Radio. I'm Andy Taylor.
- 51:35Speaker 4: I'm sure the weird all right, slick, and I'm just
- 51:38Speaker 4: remember when I said to go to our website. Have
- 51:40Speaker 4: you done it yet? Oh? Tech talk radio dot com.
- 51:42Speaker 4: Now I'm there and now back to tech talk radio.
- 51:46Speaker 5: So I get this message from Andy today and it
- 51:50Speaker 5: starts out with it starts out with this, It says, Hey,
- 51:53Speaker 5: we're doing the show tonight. Yeah, And then about three
- 51:57Speaker 5: minutes later, I get a follow up message from Andy.
- 51:59Speaker 5: I should say this is on Facebook Messenger, by the way,
- 52:02Speaker 5: right right, And the follow up message for many says,
- 52:06Speaker 5: did you thumb up the wrong message? Yeah, exactly. So
- 52:11Speaker 5: he's looking at a thumb up from days ago. Oh,
- 52:17Speaker 5: so I send him another thumb up, but this time
- 52:19Speaker 5: I send it on the first message, Hey we're doing
- 52:22Speaker 5: the show tonight with the thumb up on it? Am
- 52:26Speaker 5: I the only one having problems communicating with Andy in
- 52:29Speaker 5: social No?
- 52:30Speaker 4: No thing is Baby usually does voice to text all
- 52:35Speaker 4: the time. He's lazy to actually type, so he just
- 52:37Speaker 4: like does and then you'll and then you'll come back
- 52:38Speaker 4: and like edit and be like, oh sorry I meant
- 52:40Speaker 4: to say, And then you'll screw that one up, and
- 52:42Speaker 4: then he'll do it again, and so like about four
- 52:44Speaker 4: messages into it, I'll finally understand what he's trying to say.
- 52:48Speaker 1: Yeah, I hate that, and I hit send and it
- 52:50Speaker 1: just drives me nuts. Now I have been using the
- 52:54Speaker 1: Google Pixel nine, which I ended up keeping. You know,
- 52:57Speaker 1: I kind of I'm not good. I'm not still carry
- 53:00Speaker 1: my my iPhone with me because not everything is completely
- 53:04Speaker 1: ported over yet, so I still still can do I
- 53:07Speaker 1: turned off my message, but I can still use it
- 53:09Speaker 1: for the Wi Fi features that I may need. But
- 53:12Speaker 1: it's yeah, it's a little different typing on this thing.
- 53:17Speaker 3: And the voice to voice to text is like, it's okay,
- 53:21Speaker 3: So I don't know.
- 53:21Speaker 5: Yeah, so sorry, is he sending you voice messages? Because
- 53:24Speaker 5: I finally got him to use some voice messaging on Facebook?
- 53:28Speaker 5: He wouldn't. He hadn't used it like at all ever
- 53:31Speaker 5: until like this year.
- 53:33Speaker 1: Right right, Sorry, it's like, but but it gave me
- 53:36Speaker 1: a notification that I had a comment on the message
- 53:40Speaker 1: our message thread, and that's what I thought they were thought.
- 53:43Speaker 3: Did he send me a thumb on that previous message?
- 53:47Speaker 5: You know you can scroll it on that screen, right andy,
- 53:50Speaker 5: if you take your finger, you put another thing.
- 53:52Speaker 1: I know how to text Sean, and Sean, I have
- 53:55Speaker 1: I given you a weird text?
- 53:58Speaker 2: It depends, It depends if I respond directly to you.
- 54:02Speaker 2: Sometimes you respond in the group chat. Sometimes you respond
- 54:05Speaker 2: directly to me, So sometimes I don't know if it's
- 54:07Speaker 2: meant for me or if the group chat. So I
- 54:09Speaker 2: have to check the group chat to make sure that
- 54:11Speaker 2: I didn't respond to the wrong thing before I respond
- 54:13Speaker 2: to you.
- 54:14Speaker 3: Oh boy, all right, I'll.
- 54:17Speaker 5: So if you ever get a message from Andy to everybody.
- 54:19Speaker 3: Yeah, great.
- 54:22Speaker 5: It's gotta be clear the right thread. All right.
- 54:25Speaker 1: I want to remind everybody it is cybersecurity Awareness month.
- 54:28Speaker 1: If there's one tip that you could give, just one
- 54:31Speaker 1: basic tip, what would it be?
- 54:33Speaker 3: Uh, just don't submit.
- 54:34Speaker 2: Don't submit your data to twenty three and meters.
- 54:37Speaker 3: Oh there you go, Yes, just bury his face.
- 54:43Speaker 4: One tip, use a password manager and stop using the
- 54:47Speaker 4: same password on every website. And use a password manager
- 54:50Speaker 4: and generate long cryptic passwords. Uh it, manage it for you.
- 54:56Speaker 5: How about use like breathe pause, take a breath. You
- 55:00Speaker 5: don't have to respond right now, think it through. Not
- 55:05Speaker 5: everything needs an immediate response or action.
- 55:09Speaker 1: Great stuff. All right, we'll cover more of that stuff
- 55:11Speaker 1: next week on the show. In the meantime, thank you
- 55:13Speaker 1: for tuning in to this week's Tech Talk Radio.
