- 0:00Dayna Roselli: Hello everyone and thanks for listening to Vegas Revealed.
- 0:02Dayna Roselli: We of course want to tell you about our amazing sponsor, Targeted Tax Relief.
- 0:06Dayna Roselli: But something I want to dive into today, Sean, is a basic question, and that's what everyone keeps asking us.
- 0:12Dayna Roselli: So what exactly does targeted tax relief do, and how can they help me?
- 0:16Sean McAllister: Well, Dana, Targeted Tax Relief focuses on meaningful IRS tax debt resolution.
- 0:22Sean McAllister: This is for individuals and small businesses.
- 0:25Sean McAllister: Targeted tax relief can help if you owe payroll taxes, unfiled tax returns, back taxes, IRS liens, levies, and wage garnishments.
- 0:36Dayna Roselli: Listen, we talk to Tracy, who runs Targeted Tax Relief all the time, and she says you'd be surprised at how many people don't even file their tax returns because they just don't even want to deal with it.
- 0:46Dayna Roselli: They just keep putting it off, putting it off.
- 0:48Dayna Roselli: So she wants to help.
- 0:50Dayna Roselli: There's a three-step process.
- 0:51Dayna Roselli: They gather the pieces, they build a personalized tax resolution plan for you, and then they work with the IRS to resolve your tax debt and alleviate your stress.
- 1:01Sean McAllister: And Tracy is your advocate.
- 1:04Sean McAllister: She'll deal with the IRS on your behalf.
- 1:07Sean McAllister: But she can't do that unless you give her a call for that free consultation.
- 1:12Sean McAllister: The number is 888-843-4113.
- 1:17Sean McAllister: Again, 888-843-4113.
- 1:20Dayna Roselli: Go to targeted taxrelief.com, browse around.
- 1:24Dayna Roselli: There's all sorts of information there, and make sure you give Tracy a call.
- 1:28Dayna Roselli: It's Vegas Revealed, Episode 101.
- 1:31Dayna Roselli: An iconic Vegas hotspot is set to come back and haunt us in the best way possible.
- 1:36Dayna Roselli: Find out which nightlife mainstay will continue to make memories in a whole new way.
- 1:41Sean McAllister: And we've become a major league sports town.
- 1:44Sean McAllister: But will the Oakland A's be the next big team to set up shop here?
- 1:49Sean McAllister: We have new information, and trust us, it is far from a done deal.
- 2:02Sean McAllister: And we're just days away from Adele's big debut at Caesars Coliseum.
- 2:07Dayna Roselli: It's all now on Vegas Revealed.
- 2:10Dayna Roselli: Let's spin that wheel.
- 2:37Sean McAllister: Almost like Vegas 101.
- 2:38Dayna Roselli: Vegas 101, or, you know, what are the other things that people say with the 101?
- 2:43Sean McAllister: Math 101, English 101.
- 2:46Dayna Roselli: All that.
- 2:48Dayna Roselli: Anyway, we're teaching you all about Vegas today because we got a lot of topics to run through.
- 2:53Dayna Roselli: And one of them is football related.
- 2:55Dayna Roselli: It's hard because we wanted to kind of talk a little bit about the Raiders today, but when this drops, we'll be in the middle of a Raiders game.
- 3:02Dayna Roselli: And so there's no sense in talking about a game that we don't know if it's won or lost.
- 3:06Dayna Roselli: But we think it's going to be a big win.
- 3:08Sean McAllister: Regardless, the Raiders made it into the playoffs, and they're headed to uh Ohio for the next game.
- 3:16Sean McAllister: So yeah, we're who knows what the outcome of that is going to be because we're not fortune tellers.
- 3:22Sean McAllister: But uh this is the first time that the Raiders have made it into the playoffs as a Las Vegas team.
- 3:30Sean McAllister: I know it's exciting stuff.
- 3:32Dayna Roselli: I mean, we were just thrilled about the win.
- 3:34Dayna Roselli: You know, I gotta buy some more Raiders gear.
- 3:36Dayna Roselli: I'm getting really into it now.
- 3:37Dayna Roselli: I really am.
- 3:38Dayna Roselli: And then the Pro Bowl's coming here on February 6th, so it's just around the corner.
- 3:43Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 3:43Dayna Roselli: I got all excited because I was like, oh, Tom Brady's gonna be playing in the Pro Bowl.
- 3:46Dayna Roselli: I gotta go watch, you know, the Pro Bowl and the first thing you said when it was announced.
- 3:50Dayna Roselli: I know, and then everyone shut me right down on Twitter.
- 3:53Dayna Roselli: And they were like, Tom Brady never plays in the Pro Bowl because he's usually in the Super Bowl.
- 3:58Dayna Roselli: And if you're in the Super Bowl, you don't play in the Pro Bowl because there's a risk of you getting hurt.
- 4:03SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 4:04Dayna Roselli: So, you know, so I was like, all right, forget it.
- 4:08Dayna Roselli: But there's a lot of great players and a lot of fun stuff surrounding the Pro Bowl.
- 4:12Dayna Roselli: It's not only going to just be the actual event.
- 4:15Dayna Roselli: I'm sure there'll be tons of events surrounding that whole weekend.
- 4:18Sean McAllister: Yeah, there will.
- 4:19Sean McAllister: And tickets have been on sale for the Pro Bowl.
- 4:22Sean McAllister: Um, and there's as you mentioned, Dana, a lot of festivities going on uh Pro Bowl week.
- 4:29Sean McAllister: There's Pro Bowl Practice, which people are able to go to.
- 4:32Sean McAllister: These are all free events, by the way.
- 4:35Sean McAllister: Uh there's play football opening night, which is a big kind of pep rally kind of thing.
- 4:42Sean McAllister: Uh there's the NFL Flag Championships, there's the East West Shrine Bowl, which is going to be televised on the NFL Network.
- 4:51Sean McAllister: There's the Pro Bowl Skills Showdown and Community Day, which are all events that are going to be surrounding the Pro Bowl, leading up to the Pro Bowl, really.
- 5:00Dayna Roselli: Yeah, it'll be a big moneymaker for Las Vegas and exposure to our city.
- 5:04Dayna Roselli: So, you know, at a time where, listen, everyone's fighting for exposure, right?
- 5:08Dayna Roselli: And and branding and letting people know we're here and bringing tourism in.
- 5:12Dayna Roselli: So we're excited to have and welcome the Pro Bowl to Allegiant Stadium.
- 5:16Dayna Roselli: I mean, everything pretty much with Allegiant is a first time, right?
- 5:19Dayna Roselli: Because it's so new.
- 5:20Dayna Roselli: So first time, and maybe we'll get it back again.
- 5:23Dayna Roselli: Excited for that.
- 5:24Dayna Roselli: February 6th, if you're interested.
- 5:25Dayna Roselli: But speaking of the Raiders, recently you and I went to watch a Raiders game on a Sunday at Virgin Hotels, which we don't spend a lot of time at.
- 5:36Dayna Roselli: We haven't been there a lot.
- 5:37Dayna Roselli: So we're like, oh, let's go there, you know, and and watch a game in one of the sports establishments there.
- 5:41Sean McAllister: It appears that not a lot of people have been spending time there.
- 5:45Dayna Roselli: I mean, we were shocked at the lack of cars in the parking garage and the lack of people on the casino floor.
- 5:54Dayna Roselli: Um, like literally nobody.
- 5:57Dayna Roselli: I'm talking zero.
- 5:59Sean McAllister: It looked like it was pre-opening.
- 6:01Sean McAllister: And when I say pre-opening, I mean like the casino has never opened.
- 6:05Sean McAllister: I mean the gaming floor was sad.
- 6:08Sean McAllister: Empty as it could be.
- 6:09Sean McAllister: It was sad.
- 6:11Dayna Roselli: And like, you know, I get it, it just didn't, you know, it maybe it doesn't resonate with some people, or it didn't have a huge, huge launch.
- 6:17Dayna Roselli: It opened in the middle of the pandemic, but there are other properties that have been able to bring people in, like Circa and um, you know, Resorts World is always busy, whether people love it or don't love it.
- 6:27Dayna Roselli: I know I've heard, you know, different people love to spend all their time there.
- 6:31Dayna Roselli: Others are waiting for some more things to open.
- 6:33Dayna Roselli: But Virgin um is the old hard rock, if you're not familiar, we've talked about it many, many times, and it was dead.
- 6:41Dayna Roselli: We went to one of the sports bar restaurants there, and there were people there, there was a line, but it was like you'd think, you know, it would be so organized because they aren't busy around the clock.
- 6:53SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 6:53Dayna Roselli: But it was a hot mess in there.
- 6:55Dayna Roselli: The waitress never came, she finally did.
- 6:58Dayna Roselli: We got nachos, no plates, no silverware.
- 7:01Dayna Roselli: We asked for plates, we got bowls, there were no napkins.
- 7:05Dayna Roselli: It was a hot mess.
- 7:06Dayna Roselli: We decided to check out and move to our choice of other establishments in Virgin because a lot of them were open and empty.
- 7:13Sean McAllister: And had availability.
- 7:15Dayna Roselli: Had availability.
- 7:16Dayna Roselli: Um, yeah, and um anyway, the hostesses weren't even smiling.
- 7:20Dayna Roselli: It was a it was like, okay, I I don't know what's going on over here.
- 7:24Dayna Roselli: I felt like they needed something different there.
- 7:27Dayna Roselli: We walked by the sports book, which was also empty, and we also learned recently that apparently Virgin doesn't even have its sports betting license yet, and that could have a lot to do with it.
- 7:38Sean McAllister: Well, uh, if you're gonna be in Las Vegas and a casino in Las Vegas, you kind of need that sports betting license.
- 7:48Sean McAllister: That's a big piece of the casino puzzle.
- 7:52Sean McAllister: And, you know, when people are going to casinos to watch these major sporting events, now that Vegas is a sports town, you need to have that in place.
- 8:03Sean McAllister: And they they don't yet uh for whatever reason.
- 8:07Sean McAllister: And you know, I think it definitely plays uh a role in the the state of affairs uh over there now.
- 8:17Sean McAllister: But we say this in uh hopes that things will turn around because Dana and I are cheerleaders of Las Vegas.
- 8:28Sean McAllister: We love this city, we love you know uh the great things that go on here, and we never want to see anything like that.
- 8:36Sean McAllister: And Dana, like you said, it was sad to see the reality of what's going on over there.
- 8:43Dayna Roselli: It really was.
- 8:44Dayna Roselli: And we were walking through going, I mean, this is really nice.
- 8:46Dayna Roselli: Look at this, look at that, and we were like, it's so nice.
- 8:48Dayna Roselli: It is.
- 8:49Dayna Roselli: I almost feel like it's like a big waste, like it upsets me.
- 8:52Sean McAllister: Like they're all and the restaurants that are inside of Virgin are really good restaurants, they have an amazing steakhouse.
- 9:01Sean McAllister: Todd English has a place over there.
- 9:04Sean McAllister: Uh we went to the uh we ended up going to the Mexican place that's in there, and that was a great, that was great.
- 9:11Sean McAllister: Yeah, and they were so uh excited we were there.
- 9:15Sean McAllister: They were excited, and it was great hospitality, great food.
- 9:22Dayna Roselli: Oh my gosh, I know.
- 9:24Dayna Roselli: Yeah, we we hope for the best.
- 9:26Dayna Roselli: Um, we did take a little video and stuff because it was pretty crazy.
- 9:30Dayna Roselli: Um check our socials, we'll try and put some of that up.
- 9:32Dayna Roselli: But just to say, hey, everyone, look at, you know, if you're looking for a place that's not packed, especially during COVID, everyone's asking me, you know, is it busy?
- 9:42Dayna Roselli: Should I come there?
- 9:42Dayna Roselli: You know, is it safe?
- 9:43Sean McAllister: It's like that, go to Virgin.
- 9:45Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 9:46Dayna Roselli: It looked very clean.
- 9:48Dayna Roselli: All right, well, let's talk off the strip, just as we were.
- 9:51Dayna Roselli: We were talking about Virgin, and that was off the strip, right?
- 9:53Dayna Roselli: Um, at the Hard Rock.
- 9:54Dayna Roselli: That's down Harmon, and it's just to the east of the Las Vegas Strip, but just to the west of the Las Vegas Strip is the Palms, and we have talked about the Palms many times and how it's reopening soon this spring.
- 10:06Dayna Roselli: They're hiring, which is great if you're looking for a hotel casino job.
- 10:11Dayna Roselli: But something that kind of got us excited is the bar at the top of the Palms, famously called the Ghost Bar, changed names like a while back to Apex.
- 10:23Sean McAllister: Right.
- 10:24Dayna Roselli: And then it was sad because we're like, it's the Ghost Bar.
- 10:27Sean McAllister: I know.
- 10:28Dayna Roselli: But now we have heard it is back to being called the Ghost Bar.
- 10:32Dayna Roselli: And I know it's sim silly because it's just a name, but it's an iconic part of our living here in Vegas.
- 10:39Sean McAllister: It absolutely is.
- 10:40Sean McAllister: So to have Ghost Bar coming back to the top of the palms, I I think that it's amazing.
- 10:48Sean McAllister: I have so many memories of going up to Ghost Bar, not only at night, but they had a day club up there too.
- 10:56Sean McAllister: They had Ghost Bar Day Club, and that was a brunch hot spot.
- 11:00Sean McAllister: So many daytime parties happen there.
- 11:03Sean McAllister: And then, of course, the nightlife aspect of it was always phenomenal.
- 11:08Sean McAllister: And there's a great view of the strip.
- 11:11Sean McAllister: It's just one of those spots.
- 11:15Sean McAllister: There's nothing else like it.
- 11:17Dayna Roselli: Yeah, it's you're right.
- 11:19Dayna Roselli: It's just the view is incredible, and it's worth making that trip off the strip.
- 11:24Sean McAllister: It is.
- 11:25Dayna Roselli: So, cause like a lot of people will say, Well, people that stay on the strip are not gonna go to the palms and this and that, but you will if you have a view of the strip.
- 11:32Dayna Roselli: I mean, talk about Instagram, right?
- 11:34Dayna Roselli: The best pictures up there because you get the whole strip behind you.
- 11:38Dayna Roselli: True.
- 11:38Dayna Roselli: And that's what everyone's into now.
- 11:40Dayna Roselli: So, I mean, being up there with great views and for all the different firework events we have and things like that, it's it's a great place to go and it's it's a good destination spot.
- 11:49Sean McAllister: And I did say there's nowhere else like it.
- 11:51Sean McAllister: That isn't completely true because over at the Rio, which is kind of kitty corner to the palms, uh, there is the voodoo lounge that does have the rooftop uh patio and bars up there.
- 12:03Sean McAllister: So you do get a similar view, but you don't get to see the voodoo from the voodoo.
- 12:10Sean McAllister: You can see it from the ghost bar.
- 12:12Sean McAllister: So it's a more all-encompassing view of the Las Vegas strip and all that encircles it.
- 12:19Dayna Roselli: A little bit different, right?
- 12:20Dayna Roselli: And we learned of it because uh our friend Raul he made an Instagram post.
- 12:24Dayna Roselli: He works for events over there at the Palms, and he said, you know, Ghost Bar is going to be ready this spring to host your next event or social celebration.
- 12:32Dayna Roselli: The breathtaking view.
- 12:34Dayna Roselli: Uh imagine that at your next event is a backdrop to a special wedding day.
- 12:38Dayna Roselli: Apparently, they can accommodate up to 320 for a reception or 120 for a plated dinner or memorable wedding ceremony.
- 12:45Dayna Roselli: So they're using it for events too, again, which is great.
- 12:48Dayna Roselli: Then everyone chimed in, like, what do you mean, Ghost Bar?
- 12:51Dayna Roselli: And so he was like, Yep, the name's coming back.
- 12:54Dayna Roselli: So everyone uh seems really excited when I say everyone is everyone that follows Raul, and um, that is a lot of Vegas locals.
- 13:01Dayna Roselli: Yes.
- 13:01Sean McAllister: So it's an iconic spot.
- 13:03Sean McAllister: So glad that that's coming back.
- 13:05Sean McAllister: And Dana from an iconic spot, uh, we transitioned to an iconic rocker.
- 13:11Sean McAllister: Sammy Hagar is coming back to the strat.
- 13:15Sean McAllister: He had a run of shows last fall uh that sold out almost immediately.
- 13:21Sean McAllister: And it's just been announced that Sammy has uh another run of shows starting in February.
- 13:27Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 13:28Dayna Roselli: He's decided to return.
- 13:29Dayna Roselli: He did have a slew of shows, but not enough because they sold out so quick.
- 13:33Sean McAllister: And we almost immediately immediately, yeah.
- 13:36Dayna Roselli: I mean, he's you know, definitely people are ready to rock with the Red Rocker, that is for sure.
- 13:40Dayna Roselli: We put him on our TikTok way back, remember, and that's how our TikTok really took off because people were so into Sammy Hagar.
- 13:47Dayna Roselli: So we love that.
- 13:48Dayna Roselli: Um and Sammy's coming back for shows, like you said, in February, and I think he's got some in March too.
- 13:53Dayna Roselli: He's ready to come back, put those tickets on sale, and sell those shows out too.
- 13:58Dayna Roselli: Um, I think we're gonna be doing some work with him, so we'll have more from Sammy in future podcasts.
- 14:03Dayna Roselli: But um, if you love it, you know, and you want to go come out and see Sammy, and now's the time to do it.
- 14:08Dayna Roselli: That theater is great at the Strat.
- 14:09Dayna Roselli: And when we talked to him last time, he said he couldn't be happier with the space.
- 14:13Sean McAllister: Yeah, and it's Sammy Hagar and Friends.
- 14:16Sean McAllister: So he's got his, you know, his normal band up on stage, but you never know who's gonna drop in.
- 14:22Sean McAllister: And Sammy always invites his, you know, music industry friends to the show and their surprise appearances, and it's not just a concert.
- 14:32Sean McAllister: Sammy turns it into a party.
- 14:34Sean McAllister: Right.
- 14:35Sean McAllister: And, you know, uh Sammy knows how to entertain a crowd, so yeah, and the stories uh the stories will be told.
- 14:43Dayna Roselli: Yeah, it's a party, you know?
- 14:45Dayna Roselli: Okay.
- 14:46Dayna Roselli: Well, let's talk Adele because it was interesting.
- 14:48Dayna Roselli: We do reports for Highway Radio, our entertainment reports, and and Sean wrote one the other day, and I wrote one.
- 14:53Dayna Roselli: He was like, Oh, Adele's coming up.
- 14:55Dayna Roselli: Like, is that coming up already?
- 14:56Dayna Roselli: And then already here.
- 14:57Dayna Roselli: I thought it was like, I don't know why I had March in my head, but yeah, these Adele shows that were the hottest ticket in town, but all of a sudden I just stopped hearing about it.
- 15:05Dayna Roselli: So here's the deal.
- 15:06Dayna Roselli: I'm gonna ask you, Sean.
- 15:07Dayna Roselli: First of all, I I know no one that's going to Adele.
- 15:10Dayna Roselli: Do you have anyone that you know that got a ticket to Adele?
- 15:13Sean McAllister: No.
- 15:14Dayna Roselli: Me either.
- 15:14Sean McAllister: I know people who I saw people on who are in my social media feed who were eligible, who did uh who were able to break through that, you know, waiting in line and be a verified ticket buyer and all that.
- 15:29Sean McAllister: Uh they were able to get in line to buy tickets, but I don't know of anybody who actually did.
- 15:37Dayna Roselli: Yeah, me either.
- 15:38Dayna Roselli: So I don't know, or else they're being quiet because they don't want to like get harassed over their ticket.
- 15:43SPEAKER_01: No kidding.
- 15:44Dayna Roselli: But yeah, I don't know anyone either, so we'll have to see.
- 15:47Dayna Roselli: I'm sure once the shows kick up, we'll see a lot on social media and maybe we'll hear more.
- 15:52Sean McAllister: Well, we're definitely gonna be hearing more because uh there's a lot of people who want to know what these you know several thousand dollar tickets are gonna get them.
- 16:02Sean McAllister: So keep your eyes out.
- 16:04Sean McAllister: Uh we are not going.
- 16:05Dayna Roselli: No, we're not going.
- 16:06Dayna Roselli: That's one Sean's going to Katy Perry this week, or went.
- 16:10Dayna Roselli: Actually, went.
- 16:11Dayna Roselli: Okay, we're recording on a Wednesday.
- 16:13Dayna Roselli: He's going tonight.
- 16:14Dayna Roselli: So and then I'll be going in March.
- 16:16Dayna Roselli: So we'll have more on the next podcast on Sean's thoughts on the Katy Perry show called Play over at Resorts World because she returns after this run.
- 16:25Sean McAllister: I'm ready to play.
- 16:26Sean McAllister: But before I do, Dana, let's quickly take a sharp left turn and talk COVID.
- 16:31Sean McAllister: Because obviously Omicron is spreading like wildfire.
- 16:35Sean McAllister: Everybody seems to be catching it.
- 16:38Sean McAllister: Um and that is having an impact here in Las Vegas.
- 16:42Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 16:42Dayna Roselli: But I feel like everyone's catching it everywhere.
- 16:44Dayna Roselli: So I feel like do we.
- 16:46Dayna Roselli: Oh, exactly.
- 16:47Sean McAllister: It's not just here.
- 16:48Sean McAllister: I mean, it's literally everywhere.
- 16:50Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 16:50Dayna Roselli: And so I got a text the other day, a friend of mine that lives in LA saying, Hey, how's COVID in Vegas?
- 16:56Dayna Roselli: Because we're supposed to come to this convent this convention or sports event or something.
- 17:01Dayna Roselli: And I'm like, Well, I mean, it's kind of the same as everywhere else.
- 17:05Dayna Roselli: Like, there's nothing really different.
- 17:07Dayna Roselli: You wear a mask indoors, you pick and choose what you want to go to and what your limits are, and it's life, you know, pretty much as usual here, right?
- 17:19Dayna Roselli: Yeah, and in ways.
- 17:21Sean McAllister: With the exception of sometimes shows, businesses need to limit their hours or their show times because people are getting sick and calling out.
- 17:34Dayna Roselli: True, yes.
- 17:35Dayna Roselli: That has been an issue.
- 17:36Dayna Roselli: I've seen a couple of the columnists in town talk about that as well.
- 17:39Dayna Roselli: Numbers about getting right the workers in.
- 17:42Sean McAllister: Right.
- 17:43Sean McAllister: But there it's not like we're having, you know, government shutdowns.
- 17:47Sean McAllister: None of that.
- 17:48Sean McAllister: None of that is happening.
- 17:49Dayna Roselli: No.
- 17:50Sean McAllister: Um you still have to wear your mask and you know, do take those safety precautions.
- 17:55Sean McAllister: Right.
- 17:56Dayna Roselli: A lot of the hotels have the masks available when you walk through the front door, the antibacterial.
- 18:00Dayna Roselli: I would still keep up the antibacterial.
- 18:02Dayna Roselli: That's one thing that I'm a stickler with, but I notice a lot of people around me, like they don't carry it with them anymore, or you know, and like I'm not saying you have to be you don't have to be.
- 18:12Dayna Roselli: I don't know.
- 18:13Dayna Roselli: I don't know if people call me paranoid, but I keep that up and just cause some of those practices that we had at the very beginning.
- 18:19Sean McAllister: Yeah, I feel like that's just good a good habit to be in.
- 18:23Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 18:23Dayna Roselli: So, I mean, but if you're worried, like as soon as you walk into a building, you're just gonna catch the Omicron, then you know, I'm not laughing, but like I am laughing.
- 18:34Dayna Roselli: Because I mean it's not gonna just happen like that.
- 18:36Dayna Roselli: Basically, listen, everyone has a chance of getting it, right?
- 18:40Sean McAllister: Well, and then there was somebody I think from uh the FDA or some government agency that said at a a hearing on Capitol Hill, essentially that that pretty much everybody's gonna get it.
- 18:54Sean McAllister: So if you're you know double vaccinated, if you're boosted, it shouldn't have as much of an effect on you.
- 19:03Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 19:04Dayna Roselli: It's interesting.
- 19:05Dayna Roselli: I browsed through some headlines yesterday and I clicked on this article.
- 19:09Dayna Roselli: It was CNN, but they were talking about how there are people out there deliberately trying to get it so that they get it over with and they feel like it's gonna cause this immunity.
- 19:20Sean McAllister: Because if it's a less severe strain.
- 19:22Dayna Roselli: And this immunity, and the doctors are like, here are five reasons why you shouldn't try and get COVID at all.
- 19:29Dayna Roselli: Because it's not that uh mild for everyone.
- 19:33Dayna Roselli: You just don't know who is gonna it's gonna affect more than someone else.
- 19:38Dayna Roselli: There are there is still a chance for you to apparently have the after-effects.
- 19:42Dayna Roselli: I forgot what they called it, the COVID, the the you know what it lingers around.
- 19:45Sean McAllister: Yeah, like the lingering effects of it.
- 19:46Dayna Roselli: Yeah, or you can lose taste or smell like later, like a week later.
- 19:50Dayna Roselli: Um they were saying it's not wise.
- 19:53Dayna Roselli: Yeah, yeah.
- 19:53Sean McAllister: It's like somebody being like, hey, you know what?
- 19:55Sean McAllister: I'm gonna go out and deliberately try and get chlamydia just to get it out of the way.
- 20:01Sean McAllister: You know?
- 20:02Sean McAllister: And then I'll deal with it.
- 20:04Sean McAllister: I'll, you know, it'll clear it.
- 20:08Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 20:08Dayna Roselli: I don't know.
- 20:08Sean McAllister: No, you don't go out and deliberately try and catch anything.
- 20:11Sean McAllister: No.
- 20:12Sean McAllister: Unless it's a fish.
- 20:13Sean McAllister: No, exactly.
- 20:15Dayna Roselli: Yeah, so don't don't go try and catch it, okay?
- 20:19Dayna Roselli: But uh for all those that say, hey, what's going on in Vegas?
- 20:22Dayna Roselli: We're pretty much business as usual.
- 20:24Dayna Roselli: We do have some things that are a little scaled back because of staff shortages, that's for sure.
- 20:30Dayna Roselli: Also, we did have like a month where we, you know, in January we did have CES in town.
- 20:36Dayna Roselli: It wasn't as large as usual, but usually a lot of the shows don't sell as many tickets as they normally do the other months because the CES crowd usually has parties planned or events planned or the day goes long.
- 20:48Dayna Roselli: So it's always a little slower in that fashion, regardless.
- 20:52Sean McAllister: Yeah, January is generally a slower month compared to you know peak tourism season here.
- 21:00Sean McAllister: So anyway, by and large, things are as normal as normal can be these days.
- 21:06Sean McAllister: Exactly.
- 21:06Dayna Roselli: And we're getting a lot of sunshine.
- 21:08Dayna Roselli: We had like a three-week winter, we're back to sixties.
- 21:10Dayna Roselli: That's cool.
- 21:10Dayna Roselli: I think we got a seventy coming up here, and a sixty-eight and the sunshine.
- 21:14Dayna Roselli: So it's a beautiful place to visit if you want to get a little bit of a break from the harsh winter that I've been seeing all across the country.
- 21:21Sean McAllister: I know, I know.
- 21:22Sean McAllister: I feel bad for a lot of people in the the Midwest, the northeast.
- 21:26Sean McAllister: It's been it's been kind of brutal lately.
- 21:30Sean McAllister: So come and enjoy our sunshine.
- 21:32Dayna Roselli: And if you want to go indoors, we have a beautiful garden right inside the Bellagio that looks like the outdoors, doesn't it, Sean?
- 21:39Dayna Roselli: But it's always such a great display.
- 21:41Dayna Roselli: Uh we always love to mention when the Bellagio changes over the theme.
- 21:45Sean McAllister: Yeah, and they always do such an impressive job.
- 21:49Sean McAllister: I mean, in addition to you know, the flowers, there's all these sculptures and there's things hanging from the ceiling.
- 21:56Sean McAllister: There's uh water fixtures that are you You know, they're either in the form of fountains or you know, they're like squirting beams of water around.
- 22:09Dayna Roselli: There's all sorts of stuff happening, right?
- 22:11Dayna Roselli: For kids and and adults and everyone.
- 22:13Dayna Roselli: It's gorgeous.
- 22:14Dayna Roselli: And what they do with the plants and the flowers, absolutely beautiful.
- 22:18Dayna Roselli: This display goes through March 5th, and it's celebration of the lunar new year, and it's the year of the tiger.
- 22:27Dayna Roselli: So they've got um apparently a design to bring prosperity and luck to all who visit the Eye of the Tiger display too when you get there.
- 22:37Dayna Roselli: So if you want a little bit of good luck.
- 22:39Sean McAllister: I now I have that song in my head.
- 22:40Dayna Roselli: I know, it's my thing.
- 22:42Dayna Roselli: It's a good one.
- 22:43Dayna Roselli: It's a good workout song.
- 22:44Sean McAllister: It is.
- 22:44Sean McAllister: It is, gets you pumped up.
- 22:46Sean McAllister: Uh since we're on the topic of Bellagio, I want to quickly mention uh Bellagio has a gallery of fine art, and there's a rotating uh rotating exhibits that come through there.
- 22:57Sean McAllister: Um you may have heard us talk relatively recently about the Picasso that were on display there because MGM was auctioning those off.
- 23:06Sean McAllister: Well right now there is uh a gallery, an exhibit called Afro Frequencies, which is inspired uh by the West African concept relating to uh power to produce change.
- 23:21Sean McAllister: And it's a multimedia uh exhibition that looks really, really cool.
- 23:27Sean McAllister: It's gonna be there uh through mid-April, through April 18th.
- 23:31Sean McAllister: So just wanted to mention that because I've seen uh pictures of this exhibit.
- 23:36Sean McAllister: It looks amazing.
- 23:37Sean McAllister: I'm gonna get over there to see it.
- 23:39Sean McAllister: Um but it's something that is off the beaten path over there at Bellagio, but definitely worth going to check out the Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art.
- 23:48Dayna Roselli: Yeah, I always leave the fine art part up to you talking about it because it's a little over my head.
- 23:53Dayna Roselli: But we have uh one of our favorite listeners, Rob from Atlanta, loves when you talk about the fine art displays.
- 24:00Sean McAllister: Well, listen, I am not somebody who can sit there and have an in-depth conversation about art.
- 24:08Sean McAllister: Um I am I have a very superficial take on art.
- 24:12Sean McAllister: Like I look at it, I'm like, oh, that looks really nice.
- 24:15Sean McAllister: That's cool.
- 24:16Sean McAllister: I I don't have like very deep conversations about the meaning of the brush strokes and how how these colors are blended together.
- 24:26Sean McAllister: And I my mind just doesn't process like that.
- 24:30Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 24:30Sean McAllister: But I can appreciate when something is nice.
- 24:32Dayna Roselli: It's interesting you say that because I've been wearing my Van Gogh mask, you know, the mask the mask that they handed out.
- 24:37Dayna Roselli: I think it was at the opening there when we worked there, whatever.
- 24:40Dayna Roselli: And people stop me all the time.
- 24:42Dayna Roselli: I'm like, you know what?
- 24:43Dayna Roselli: These masks with the logo and the well, I guess I can tell because it's like a painting, the Van Gogh painting.
- 24:47Sean McAllister: It's like the starry night or the sunflowers.
- 24:49Dayna Roselli: They're always like, How is it?
- 24:50Dayna Roselli: Have you been?
- 24:51Dayna Roselli: And so I always talk to people about it, and I feel like an idiot because I'm like, it's cool, you know, like I don't have like you know, deep, meaningful conversations about it.
- 25:03Dayna Roselli: I mean, it's cool, spend some time there, goes through the history, you know, but like I feel like uh like I'm not giving a great explanation, even though I should.
- 25:12Dayna Roselli: But yeah, I'm just not an artsy person.
- 25:15Dayna Roselli: Well, and for You saw my cookies that I made during the I did, I did.
- 25:19Sean McAllister: I saw those.
- 25:20Dayna Roselli: They were not Van Gogh.
- 25:22Sean McAllister: They were not, but Van Gogh does make you feel like you've kind of stepped into the paintings because all around you, Van Gogh's most famous pieces of art come to life on the walls, on the floors, and you're in there with music happening that goes along with these animations of Van Gogh's art coming to life on the walls.
- 25:43Sean McAllister: This is over at Aria at the Crystal Shops.
- 25:46Sean McAllister: Yep.
- 25:47Sean McAllister: Um That's what I say.
- 25:48Dayna Roselli: Yeah, all those things pretty and it's cool and all that.
- 25:52Dayna Roselli: I had someone else ask me, like, what's the difference between that one and the one at Area 15?
- 25:56Dayna Roselli: And I was like, the well, they're di run by different companies, they're separate, they're not affiliated, but I've heard different things about each, so so check it out.
- 26:05Dayna Roselli: And and and I said to even the person in my building, I said, check it out and let me know.
- 26:08Dayna Roselli: What do you think?
- 26:09Dayna Roselli: You know, so um they said the prices um for the area 15 one were a little bit lower than the one at Crystals, but the Crystals one is you know definitely very high-end.
- 26:18Sean McAllister: All right.
- 26:18Sean McAllister: What do you say we get into our tips of the week?
- 26:25Sean McAllister: Dana my mouth is already walking.
- 26:27Dayna Roselli: I know.
- 26:27Dayna Roselli: Our first tip has to do with steak.
- 26:29Sean McAllister: Oh I love a good steak.
- 26:31Dayna Roselli: One day this week we got barrage with a bunch of you know press releases about the uh Luger Steakhouse coming to Caesars Palace, and I thought this is a big deal.
- 26:40Dayna Roselli: So we looked into it because, you know, it was all the buzz, and we thought, what is it, you know, I've never heard of it.
- 26:45Dayna Roselli: And I don't know why I've never heard of it, but apparently it's renowned, and there's one in New York City that's the original one.
- 26:54Dayna Roselli: And this is gonna be their first U.S.
- 26:56Dayna Roselli: location outside of New York.
- 26:58Dayna Roselli: So Las Vegas is getting this steakhouse, and it's a big deal.
- 27:03Sean McAllister: Well, and that's because Luger Steakhouse is widely considered uh New York's original steakhouse.
- 27:10Sean McAllister: It opened back in 1887 and has been going strong ever since.
- 27:15Sean McAllister: And now that history, that iconic steakhouse brand is coming here to Las Vegas, which what better place?
- 27:23Sean McAllister: If you're gonna open something outside of New York City, you may as well open it in Las Vegas.
- 27:30Dayna Roselli: Yeah, it's a Michelin-starred restaurant, so exquisite.
- 27:34Dayna Roselli: Um, and it's supposed to open at the end of 2022.
- 27:37Dayna Roselli: I don't know exactly where, or wonder what spot it will be in.
- 27:41Dayna Roselli: I was trying to think.
- 27:42Sean McAllister: I mean, it could be uh Rayos, the Italian restaurant is closing.
- 27:48Sean McAllister: And that's a big footprint, and that would actually make for a really nice steakhouse environment.
- 27:54Dayna Roselli: Well, and that was, you know, there's a Reyos in in what is it, Harlem, New York, with the little teeny, you know, only a few tables, and then they built out and had this one here.
- 28:02Dayna Roselli: So this too coming from New York, old school, so the you know, the inside could be very similar.
- 28:08Dayna Roselli: I'm sure they'll do their own updates.
- 28:09Sean McAllister: Yep.
- 28:10Sean McAllister: And also coming to Caesars from New York is uh the bakery that invented the Cronut.
- 28:16Sean McAllister: Right.
- 28:17Sean McAllister: And that's going to be opening at some point this year in uh 2022 as well.
- 28:22Sean McAllister: So a lot of New York mainstays are seem to be popping up over there at Caesars.
- 28:27Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 28:28Dayna Roselli: And you know, I want to talk eventually about Barry's Prime steakhouse that we went to at Circa.
- 28:33Dayna Roselli: Oh, jeez.
- 28:34Dayna Roselli: I'm writing an article for Deluxe Version magazine.
- 28:36Dayna Roselli: It was an assignment for me to go there.
- 28:38Dayna Roselli: You came along, we had the most incredible dinner.
- 28:42Dayna Roselli: I don't want to get into specifics because I want to wait until the article comes out where we will dive in and talk about some of the menu items that Chef Barry said everyone needs to have, and we were able to sample.
- 28:52Sean McAllister: Because Barry's is deserving of its own dedicated chunk of time to talk about Barry's downtown prime and the experience you will have when you go there.
- 29:07Dayna Roselli: But let's talk sports now, okay?
- 29:09Dayna Roselli: Because we just landed on some information that we thought, okay, we have to share.
- 29:14Dayna Roselli: We teased it at the top of the podcast, and there's been all this talk about a major league baseball team coming here, right?
- 29:22Dayna Roselli: There has.
- 29:23Dayna Roselli: But we thought, you know, eh, sometimes it turns into sometimes it doesn't.
- 29:27Dayna Roselli: No, there's always rumors.
- 29:28Sean McAllister: There's always talk.
- 29:29Sean McAllister: Something is always coming to Las Vegas, and it never happens.
- 29:33Sean McAllister: Right.
- 29:33Sean McAllister: Like a high-speed train from here to LA.
- 29:36Dayna Roselli: Oh my goodness.
- 29:37Dayna Roselli: That's been, yeah.
- 29:39Dayna Roselli: That should have happened a long time ago.
- 29:40Dayna Roselli: I don't know what anyone's thinking there.
- 29:42Dayna Roselli: But yeah, there's been talk about the Oakland A's coming here, okay?
- 29:45Dayna Roselli: So um a lot of talk about where the stadium would go and if we were to build a ballpark, you know, and all that.
- 29:50Dayna Roselli: I mean, like, step ahead.
- 29:52Dayna Roselli: But we do know, and um, you know, we're not a news organization.
- 29:56Dayna Roselli: We don't have to say who our sources are and all that kind of kind of thing, and we don't want to throw anyone under the bus, but we definitely know now that there have been meetings about this, and not one meeting, but like several meetings about bringing the Oakland A's here and meetings with the franchise.
- 30:15Sean McAllister: Yeah, and so that indicates, since there have been more than just a couple official meetings, uh, that the team is very interested in Las Vegas.
- 30:28Sean McAllister: However, uh we understand that there are there could be at least one kind of wrinkle in the in the process that would get Las Vegas to officially say, okay, let's move ahead with these plans.
- 30:47Sean McAllister: Right.
- 30:48Sean McAllister: Exactly.
- 30:48Sean McAllister: Good way to describe it.
- 30:49Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 30:50Dayna Roselli: There are a couple things that are maybe holding Las Vegas back from I don't want to say letting, accepting, uh holding back the idea of this team coming here.
- 31:00Dayna Roselli: So th it there are conversations, and so if you love baseball and you were hoping the Oakland A's would come here, could be a possibility.
- 31:06Dayna Roselli: Maybe another team.
- 31:08Dayna Roselli: Maybe another team will come here if they say no to this one.
- 31:11Sean McAllister: Yeah, it could be.
- 31:12Sean McAllister: Who knows?
- 31:12Sean McAllister: And I think it's an important part about uh welcoming a team to Las Vegas, regardless of who they are, where they're from, is how involved they're going to be once they get here.
- 31:26Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 31:26Dayna Roselli: So we've been doing a lot of work with the Raiders for our media company and enjoyed, as we've mentioned, I think in the past on this podcast, seeing them out in the community, reading to kids, dropping off, you know, school supplies, uh giving, you know, kids teenagers with cancer tours of the stadium, uh, honoring our veterans that were Raiders fans.
- 31:47Dayna Roselli: I mean, just so many wonderful things they've been doing.
- 31:49Sean McAllister: Yeah, and the Golden Knights do the same thing.
- 31:52Sean McAllister: Our hockey team.
- 31:53Sean McAllister: They have a great organization, they're so involved.
- 31:57Sean McAllister: I know we see Golden Knights.
- 32:00Sean McAllister: I have a friend who I just saw one of the players at the ski resort up at Mount Charleston.
- 32:05Sean McAllister: And we see them at grocery stores.
- 32:08Sean McAllister: I know friends who pick their kids up from school and see Knights players picking their kids up from school.
- 32:14Sean McAllister: So, you know, uh being a part of being a part of the community is very important here in Las Vegas.
- 32:21Dayna Roselli: We are definitely a sports town now.
- 32:23Dayna Roselli: It's funny, I had a friend come in from Texas and and everyone was texting him like, Welcome, we're a sports town now, and he was like, I know, I can't believe I'm going to a Raiders game.
- 32:30Dayna Roselli: So we're growing, but you know, we have every we have that, but we still have our shows and our gaming and our amazing restaurants.
- 32:38Dayna Roselli: So it's just basically adding to the lineup of already amazing things that we have.
- 32:43Sean McAllister: And by the way, when we talk about pro sports teams, I know the Raiders and the Golden Knights get a lot of the coverage, but the Las Vegas Aces are also here, our WNBA team, and they're always out in the community as well.
- 32:56Sean McAllister: So I don't want it uh I don't want us to seem like we're we're not talking about uh the aces because they deserve the attention as well.
- 33:05Dayna Roselli: All right, that's a wrap this week.
- 33:07Dayna Roselli: Believe it or not, the year has kicked off uh with a bang, and Sean and I have been so busy with work, we kind of have to make this a little bit of a maybe a shorter one, um, or on time, I should say, because we try to aim for 30 minutes, right?
- 33:20Dayna Roselli: So happy new year once again.
- 33:21Dayna Roselli: We are in the midst of January.
- 33:23Dayna Roselli: The weather is beautiful.
- 33:24Dayna Roselli: Come visit Las Vegas.
- 33:26Dayna Roselli: It is uh business as usual here.
- 33:28Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 33:29Sean McAllister: Uh thanks for listening.
- 33:30Sean McAllister: We'll be back again next week for episode 102.
