- 0:53Speaker 1: Alabama goes on the road and they win at Kentucky.
- 0:57Speaker 1: Here's Kalen DeBoer talking about Keelan Russell, his redshirt freshman quarterback.
- 1:03Speaker 1: Could not have started out any worse. First drive goes
- 1:06Speaker 1: backwards and a pick six before the first drive ends
- 1:11Speaker 1: and you're down seven to nothing in your first road start.
- 1:14Speaker 1: Very young team. Here's the Alabama coach on his quarterback,
- 1:17Speaker 1: Keelan Russell.
- 1:19Speaker 2: Yeah, he stays cool and calm. He believes in himself
- 1:22Speaker 2: and uh, you know, that's, that's evident. Sometimes he going,
- 1:27Speaker 2: going and trying to make a play, you know, and
- 1:28Speaker 2: we just got to help him understand the situation and
- 1:31Speaker 2: how to keep our, us on the field. Um, I
- 1:34Speaker 2: don't want to take his aggressiveness from away, away from
- 1:36Speaker 2: him because there's some plays that he made out there too.
- 1:38Speaker 2: And so it's a fine line. Uh, he's, you know,
- 1:41Speaker 2: going to go, you know, help us win games. And, um,
- 1:44Speaker 2: you know, he did that. I thought that played winning
- 1:46Speaker 2: football in the second half and, uh, you know, first half,
- 1:49Speaker 2: he's just got to, Make sure you find.
- 1:51Speaker 3: A passing lane on screens so the ball can't get tipped.
- 1:54Speaker 2: Some of those things at the end of the first half,
- 1:56Speaker 2: just don't give up the needless points with an interception.
- 2:01Speaker 2: Don't force things. He's a fighter, and he believes in himself.
- 2:07Speaker 2: He's won a lot of football games at a high level.
- 2:09Speaker 2: I know it was high school, but he understands what
- 2:12Speaker 2: that pressure is all about. It was great to see
- 2:14Speaker 2: him come out in the second half and play the
- 2:15Speaker 2: game he did.
- 2:16Speaker 1: It was the worst time to ever play Kentucky in
- 2:18Speaker 1: a road game. Because they were all fired up for
- 2:21Speaker 1: Will Stein. They had hope.
- 2:24Speaker 4: It was crazy.
- 2:25Speaker 1: And then you've got one returning starter on offense, and
- 2:27Speaker 1: you run out there for that first drive. And in
- 2:30Speaker 1: typical fashion, when you're on a road, it starts going
- 2:33Speaker 1: backwards on you with that young team. And then the
- 2:35Speaker 1: pick six, and you're down 7-0. And you just think
- 2:38Speaker 1: to yourself, well, this is about to implode in. When
- 2:41Speaker 1: it's all said and done, 32 unanswered points in the
- 2:43Speaker 1: second half, and they win the football game. And there
- 2:45Speaker 1: were a lot of positives, I think, that came out
- 2:47Speaker 1: of that game for Alabama.
- 2:49Speaker 5: Defensively, I would say that. I think Cain Womack's defense
- 2:53Speaker 5: is going to be fantastic. It really showed in the
- 2:56Speaker 5: second half. And look, seven of those points obviously were
- 2:59Speaker 5: a gimme from the offense.
- 3:01Speaker 6: I don't know about the offense. I think Keelan Russell's
- 3:03Speaker 6: going to be really good.
- 3:04Speaker 5: I mean, you saw some of the uncoachable things, like
- 3:07Speaker 5: his ability to stop and start and that one scramble.
- 3:11Speaker 6: I forgot how far he went on that run.
- 3:12Speaker 5: I think it was 16 yards.
- 3:17Speaker 6: With all that said, Daniel Hill, to me, slowest running
- 3:20Speaker 6: back in the SEC.
- 3:21Speaker 1: You're too hard on that guy. 104 yards, 85 of
- 3:23Speaker 1: it after contact. Hard to get up to full speed when.
- 3:26Speaker 4: You're getting hit. And I don't disagree with you that
- 3:28Speaker 4: he is slow. But the guy plays his tail off.
- 3:32Speaker 4: I mean, he is a hard player. No doubt.
- 3:34Speaker 5: I mean, look, obviously that's their best running back, the
- 3:36Speaker 5: guy they trust the most right now. The offensive line
- 3:40Speaker 5: still don't think it's any good. And I don't think
- 3:42Speaker 5: they have any dynamic playmakers at wide receiver.
- 3:45Speaker 4: Yeah, and again, you and I disagree on Lottie Brooks.
- 3:47Speaker 4: I really like Lottie Brooks. And Ryan Coleman-Williams is a
- 3:50Speaker 4: bit of a non-factor in the game. They just weren't
- 3:52Speaker 4: able to get the ball to him. They found Pritchett
- 3:54Speaker 4: at tight end. I think they found something they like
- 3:56Speaker 4: there with him.
- 3:57Speaker 5: I think Ryan Coleman Williams might be the most overrated
- 4:00Speaker 5: player in college football.
- 4:01Speaker 4: They struggle to get the ball to him. I don't
- 4:02Speaker 4: know if he's not getting open. I don't know if
- 4:04Speaker 4: he's drawing double coverage so everybody else can be open.
- 4:06Speaker 4: I don't know, but He was pretty much a non-factor
- 4:10Speaker 4: in this game Saturday.
- 4:11Speaker 5: But they dominated the second half. I mean, with that said,
- 4:14Speaker 5: they go in, they're down at half. I don't know
- 4:16Speaker 5: what kind of text you guys were getting. You don't
- 4:19Speaker 5: want to read them. You know, DeBoer is done. And
- 4:21Speaker 5: then even after the game, it flipped around to Ryan
- 4:24Speaker 5: Grubbs done.
- 4:25Speaker 4: I know.
- 4:26Speaker 5: I mean, Alabama fans aren't happy with the 28-point win.
- 4:30Speaker 4: The miscommunication or the lack of helmet communications in the
- 4:33Speaker 4: third quarter was a talking point after the game in
- 4:39Speaker 4: helmet comms for a little bit. And Lugan Bill and
- 4:43Speaker 4: I were texting during the game. He made a point
- 4:45Speaker 4: like in the third quarter, they are taking the RPO
- 4:50Speaker 4: away from Keelan. They're calling a run play. They're calling
- 4:54Speaker 4: a pass play. That's not the RPO.
- 4:56Speaker 1: And that seemed to be where they really got the
- 4:57Speaker 1: offense cooking at that point. I wonder if that's something.
- 5:00Speaker 1: I mean, the RPO is so important. That's what Keelan's
- 5:03Speaker 1: going to do best. But I wonder at points in
- 5:06Speaker 1: the game if they try to simplify that a little
- 5:08Speaker 1: bit Florida State, Mississippi State, but especially against Georgia. Well,
- 5:12Speaker 1: I will say one thing RPO can do, and I'm
- 5:14Speaker 1: not saying Alabama is or is not doing this, but
- 5:16Speaker 1: one thing RPO can do for you is some of
- 5:19Speaker 1: these younger backs you might not quite trust in pass protection.
- 5:22Speaker 1: You trust Daniel Hill in pass protection, but Treshawn Brown
- 5:26Speaker 1: and EJ Crowell that you might not quite trust in
- 5:29Speaker 1: pass protection. Having them in on the RPO plays kind
- 5:32Speaker 1: of changes that a little bit. Your pass protection there
- 5:34Speaker 1: is the threat of the run. And you're going to
- 5:36Speaker 1: get the ball out so quick. You have to get
- 5:38Speaker 1: it out quick on an RPO or you're going to
- 5:40Speaker 1: have a man downfield, which happened to Alabama. They had
- 5:42Speaker 1: the man downfield on that one play because it took
- 5:45Speaker 1: Russell too long to get it out. If you're going
- 5:47Speaker 1: to run the RPO, you've got to get it out quick, obviously.
- 5:50Speaker 1: And you can maybe mix those backs in a little
- 5:53Speaker 1: bit more and give Hill some rest in those situations.
- 5:55Speaker 5: Where are you guys on Alabama, though? I know it's
- 5:57Speaker 5: two games. It's not great competition. Look, they're averaging 44.
- 6:00Speaker 5: six and a half points a game. I wouldn't say
- 6:02Speaker 5: Kentucky's not great competition. That's an improved team. Will Stein's
- 6:06Speaker 5: a good coach and that's an SEC win on the road.
- 6:09Speaker 5: So I do not buy that's not, to me, you know,
- 6:12Speaker 5: playing Howard is not good competition. Playing Florida A &
- 6:16Speaker 5: M is not good competition. I thought I thought that
- 6:18Speaker 5: was good competition this weekend. I mean, Kentucky's definitely improved.
- 6:22Speaker 5: But with all that said, I think Mississippi State could
- 6:24Speaker 5: be a problem.
- 6:25Speaker 4: Oh, they will be.
- 6:26Speaker 5: I looked at this four-game gauntlet for Alabama before the
- 6:29Speaker 5: season when you start with Georgia, Tennessee, A & M,
- 6:31Speaker 5: and LSU. And I said all summer you go 2-2,
- 6:34Speaker 5: you get to a college football playoff. But I think
- 6:37Speaker 5: kind of a trap game before with Mississippi State before Georgia.
- 6:40Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean– Somebody said in the chat, and I'll
- 6:44Speaker 4: try to give them credit here, was Ben in the
- 6:46Speaker 4: chat said, Dunaway said going into Friday, this can't be
- 6:49Speaker 4: everybody's sexy upset alert. And then you don't give Alabama
- 6:52Speaker 4: credit for the win. Actually, I was the one that
- 6:53Speaker 4: said that. Jim agreed. I think Lance agreed. I mean,
- 6:56Speaker 4: either Kentucky was good enough to beat Alabama or they weren't.
- 7:00Speaker 4: But I don't know how you play the You know,
- 7:03Speaker 4: Herb Street picked Kentucky on game day. And I think
- 7:06Speaker 4: his rationale for picking Kentucky was that Alabama quit in
- 7:08Speaker 4: the Rose Bowl, which I thought was a weird rationale.
- 7:10Speaker 4: But that picked him as an outright winner. That was
- 7:12Speaker 4: an outright winner. Not against the spread. That was an
- 7:13Speaker 4: outright winner. He was the only one on the show.
- 7:15Speaker 4: So people can't, you know, you can't make that pick
- 7:17Speaker 4: and say, ah, Kentucky's trash. They're improved. Are they a
- 7:20Speaker 4: top half of the SEC team? No, not yet. Will
- 7:22Speaker 4: Stein may get them there, but he doesn't have them
- 7:24Speaker 4: there yet. But I got several texts. It was best
- 7:28Speaker 4: put from one of my golf buddies that was on
- 7:30Speaker 4: a trip up there with some of my golf buddies
- 7:33Speaker 4: were on a trip, and he was one of them.
- 7:35Speaker 4: And he said, you would not believe the hornet's nest
- 7:36Speaker 4: we have walked into. He's an Alabama fan saying that.
- 7:39Speaker 4: It looked good on TV.
- 7:40Speaker 3: It did.
- 7:40Speaker 4: I mean, he was like, man, this crowd. I've been
- 7:42Speaker 4: all over the SEC. This crowd's insane right now. You know,
- 7:45Speaker 4: we all love Kalen DeBoer. I'm a huge fan. But
- 7:48Speaker 4: his teams don't seem prepared on the road.
- 7:51Speaker 6: Again, they win 45-17. But they were kind of shell-shocked
- 7:54Speaker 6: in that first half.
- 7:55Speaker 4: That was a shaky start. There's a lot of penalties.
- 7:59Speaker 4: I don't understand, as we discuss this game, if we're
- 8:02Speaker 4: going to have instant replay, I just don't understand how
- 8:04Speaker 4: we keep getting calls wrong on instant replay.
- 8:06Speaker 6: You talking about the out-of-bounds?
- 8:07Speaker 4: Well, there were two. I mean, that was not a catch.
- 8:10Speaker 4: The one that got overturned, it was a point down
- 8:12Speaker 4: hold for Alabama. That was not a catch. Yeah.
- 8:14Speaker 6: They led to points. Yeah, and I thought— Yeah, that
- 8:17Speaker 6: was crazy.
- 8:19Speaker 4: Who was the rules guy? Was it Matt Austin, I think,
- 8:22Speaker 4: in that game?
- 8:23Speaker 7: Whatever.
- 8:23Speaker 4: No, Lemonier. Was it? Well, whoever it was was like,
- 8:27Speaker 4: when you slow it down, it looks like a catch,
- 8:29Speaker 4: but you can't slow it down. You've got to make
- 8:31Speaker 4: the catch no catch in real time.
- 8:33Speaker 6: There was no catch.
- 8:34Speaker 4: There was no way that was a catch. No way.
- 8:37Speaker 1: It's the same referee that's on with Herbstreit. He's at
- 8:41Speaker 1: the Herb Street game, but he's watching the game.
- 8:43Speaker 4: No, that's Steve Shaw now. Okay, you're right. So anyway,
- 8:47Speaker 4: that's irrelevant. But whoever the guy was. It was the
- 8:48Speaker 4: guy that used to be on with those guys. Whoever
- 8:50Speaker 4: the guy was was like, you can't call that a catch.
- 8:52Speaker 4: You know, it's in slow motion. And then the Daniel
- 8:55Speaker 4: Hill thing, guys, I have yet to see a replay
- 8:57Speaker 4: where he's out of bounds.
- 8:58Speaker 6: Yeah, and they're like, well, it was a step before. Well,
- 9:00Speaker 6: show us.
- 9:00Speaker 4: Okay, show us the step before. No, they did.
- 9:04Speaker 1: The clip that people keep sending us is that next step,
- 9:06Speaker 1: which is easily in. The one they're calling, I think,
- 9:10Speaker 1: is the one. But I still saw green.
- 9:12Speaker 4: He's not out of bounds.
- 9:13Speaker 1: It's like, you know how your shoe, like the sole
- 9:16Speaker 1: of your shoe is on the ground and a little
- 9:18Speaker 1: bit when you're cutting a little bit of your shoe.
- 9:21Speaker 4: Yeah, I get it. But it looks like it was,
- 9:22Speaker 4: there's no way it was.
- 9:23Speaker 6: Did he mark him out of bounds on the plate?
- 9:25Speaker 4: They put him on the three. So it was the
- 9:27Speaker 4: step on the three because that's where the ball was placed.
- 9:30Speaker 4: And I just, I never saw it. I mean, like
- 9:32Speaker 4: every replay they show was green. It was the best
- 9:34Speaker 4: pylon cam.
- 9:35Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 9:36Speaker 4: I mean, it was perfect. Right down the line right there,
- 9:38Speaker 4: you could easily see the green. And they've got access
- 9:40Speaker 4: to that camera.
- 9:41Speaker 1: That's what I said in our post-game video is the
- 9:43Speaker 1: SEC has got to come along with everyone else now. Now,
- 9:46Speaker 1: we've got to be able to hear, because I'd love
- 9:48Speaker 1: to hear what they were saying. Okay, it's obvious from
- 9:51Speaker 1: our angle here, he's stepping out at the three.
- 9:53Speaker 4: It's obvious. Well, look, Alabama scored on the next play,
- 9:57Speaker 4: I think it was, Daniel Hill still got his touchdown.
- 9:59Speaker 9: The one that got me was the fourth down penalty
- 10:03Speaker 9: called on the Alabama defense for delay of game.
- 10:06Speaker 4: It's simulation of the snap. You can't do it. I mean,
- 10:08Speaker 4: Bray Hubbard came right into there clapping.
- 10:10Speaker 9: I understand that. It cannot be a simulation of the snap.
- 10:13Speaker 9: You clap when you're in the shotgun. They were lined
- 10:16Speaker 9: up under center. You don't clap. Your hands are in
- 10:19Speaker 9: the center's ass. There's no clapping involved in a snap
- 10:22Speaker 9: if you're lined up under center. It can't be a
- 10:24Speaker 9: simulation of the snap. Some people got frustrated with the
- 10:25Speaker 9: defensive hold on the lineman, but that was. It was
- 10:29Speaker 9: a defensive hold. If you go back and watch the video.
- 10:30Speaker 1: What you're doing there is you're holding defenders to— clear
- 10:33Speaker 1: space for one of your guys to get through you
- 10:35Speaker 1: can't they can't block you don't want the defenders getting
- 10:36Speaker 1: to the second level and blocking the linebacker and it
- 10:38Speaker 1: was a clear hold if you go back and watch
- 10:40Speaker 1: it so that one they got right on 88 i
- 10:41Speaker 1: think yeah it was um but uh yeah the the
- 10:45Speaker 1: clap by brie hubbard and again this defense like if
- 10:48Speaker 1: you if you look at it they're off the field
- 10:49Speaker 1: on that fourth down gets overturned on replay kentucky scores
- 10:52Speaker 1: the field goal before the half was a terrible keelan
- 10:54Speaker 1: russell um a decision that led to the field goal
- 10:59Speaker 1: They scored 17, although the other seven was the batted
- 11:01Speaker 1: ball that scored. I mean, really, Alabama's defense.
- 11:03Speaker 4: Gave out nothing.
- 11:04Speaker 5: I mean, and outside of East Carolina, the one, you know,
- 11:06Speaker 5: blown coverage. I mean, the defense has been great. Caleb Woodson, really.
- 11:11Speaker 4: Really good.
- 11:11Speaker 6: The Virginia Tech transfer.
- 11:12Speaker 4: And that front four, like, if people were worried about
- 11:15Speaker 4: Russo and James Smith leaving, you shouldn't be. Yeah. Devin Tompkins,
- 11:19Speaker 4: by the way, that strip sack.
- 11:21Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 11:21Speaker 4: Which I think flipped the game, really. I agree. What
- 11:24Speaker 4: gave it to Alabama.
- 11:25Speaker 1: Uh, 300 pounds and he was lined up on the
- 11:28Speaker 1: edge there he came off the edge at 300 pounds.
- 11:30Speaker 5: I know playing for usc last year came off fast
- 11:34Speaker 5: at 300 pounds yeah the defense is championship like you
- 11:36Speaker 5: know this could be oklahoma last year where alabama goes
- 11:41Speaker 5: and wins 10 games and host a playoff game based
- 11:44Speaker 5: on defense i just i'm not a fan of the
- 11:46Speaker 5: offense right now maybe it flips.
- 11:48Speaker 1: Uh perfect 10 mortgage uh time maybe to flip uh
- 11:51Speaker 1: Your mortgage, if you want a good rate, maybe you're
- 11:54Speaker 1: looking for a new home, Perfect 10 Mortgage can help

- 12:07Speaker 1: you check your options, it is not going to ding
- 12:09Speaker 1: your credit score. You find out where you actually stand
- 12:11Speaker 1: before you commit to anything. They allow you to date
- 12:14Speaker 1: the rate and then marry the house. As Jim said,
- 12:16Speaker 1: if you're building, they've got a builder program, builder-funded rate
- 12:19Speaker 1: buy-downs that can get you the rate the bank cannot print. Again,
- 12:23Speaker 1: date the rate, marry the house, get the house you
- 12:25Speaker 1: want now, refinance.
- 12:26Speaker 4: When the rates come down. Straight talk on what you

- 12:56Speaker 4: Perfect 10 Mortgage in pursuit of a more perfect mortgage. Listen,
- 12:59Speaker 4: there are.
- 12:59Speaker 1: Times where you should leave history and politics out of sports.
- 13:07Speaker 1: We may have reached that point in the Kansas-Missouri border war.
- 13:12Speaker 1: A rivalry in sports named literally after a border war,
- 13:15Speaker 1: the Civil War between Kansas and Missouri. And the Kansas
- 13:20Speaker 1: social media folks in one of the strangest, give me Brooks' microphone,
- 13:23Speaker 1: one of the strangest releases ever. This was leaning at
- 13:27Speaker 1: heroes and villains. And this is back in the Civil
- 13:31Speaker 1: War days, Kansas and Missouri, free states, not free states.
- 13:35Speaker 4: They sent this out.
- 13:37Speaker 1: When I checked before my Friday night high school football game, Brooks,
- 13:41Speaker 1: their hype video had 30 million views on Twitter, on X.
- 13:47Speaker 1: I don't know what it was on the other platforms.
- 13:50Speaker 1: But most people were looking at it because it went
- 13:51Speaker 1: into the history, not sports, but the actual blood history
- 13:57Speaker 1: of why there was a border war. It got drug
- 14:00Speaker 1: into this rivalry game. Was that one of the strangest
- 14:04Speaker 1: hype videos you've ever seen in your years of looking
- 14:06Speaker 1: at social media?
- 14:08Speaker 4: It was to me.
- 14:09Speaker 9: It felt like, you know, I know what you're setting
- 14:13Speaker 9: up here from a Drinkwits presser standpoint. And I agree
- 14:17Speaker 9: with a lot that he had to say. It was
- 14:20Speaker 9: extremely just kind of seemed unjustified. You know, it felt like.
- 14:27Speaker 9: I don't know how this got approved by the PR department,
- 14:32Speaker 9: anyone involved with that. And the fact that they didn't–
- 14:34Speaker 9: I mean, I guess you've got to own it. They
- 14:35Speaker 9: never deleted it. I guess at that point you've got
- 14:37Speaker 9: to own it once it gets kind of– Starts doing
- 14:41Speaker 9: its thing on social media.
- 14:42Speaker 4: They played it inside the stadium. They were proud of it.
- 14:45Speaker 4: The editing and stuff was really cool. Oh, no, it's
- 14:48Speaker 4: very well done.
- 14:49Speaker 9: It was well produced, but the messaging behind it felt
- 14:53Speaker 9: a little too extreme.
- 14:55Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, it got into fighting for slavery and
- 14:57Speaker 1: that kind of stuff, leading into a sporting event. And
- 15:01Speaker 1: Missouri wins the game on the field, which is, by
- 15:03Speaker 1: the way, it's college football. Eli Drinkowitz afterwards, he tacked
- 15:07Speaker 1: on a touchdown. throwing to the end zone, tacked on
- 15:10Speaker 1: a touchdown late, and he said there was a reason
- 15:13Speaker 1: why he did that.
- 15:16Speaker 7: I was disappointed in the turn that it took today.
- 15:19Speaker 7: I thought that was uncalled for. And, you know, this
- 15:24Speaker 7: is about two teams playing football, and especially on 9-11
- 15:27Speaker 7: when we need more unity now than ever before, to
- 15:30Speaker 7: be putting some stuff on your screen celebrating, I mean,
- 15:34Speaker 7: Everybody's got complicated pasts, you know, and to make that
- 15:38Speaker 7: an icon was bizarre to me. And so I'm just glad,
- 15:42Speaker 7: you know, that this whole right versus wrong bull crap
- 15:45Speaker 7: that was started just got settled on.
- 15:47Speaker 3: A football field because it's a football game. It's a
- 15:49Speaker 3: football game. It's an American football game that people love
- 15:52Speaker 3: to come watch and cheer for their teams. It's not
- 15:53Speaker 3: any deeper than that. And I get there's a past
- 15:56Speaker 3: to it. But why are we stirring that bull crap up?
- 15:59Speaker 3: You know, it's 9-11. This country needs unity now more
- 16:02Speaker 3: than ever. And I was embarrassed for him, to be honest.
- 16:04Speaker 3: And that's why I tried to embarrass him at the end.
- 16:07Speaker 4: Yeah. I was embarrassed for him, and that's why I
- 16:09Speaker 4: tried to embarrass him at the end. I think anybody
- 16:12Speaker 4: that's watched the show knows I'm not a big fan
- 16:13Speaker 4: of that guy, but I loved that. I mean, number one,
- 16:16Speaker 4: he owned the fact that, yes, I was throwing in
- 16:18Speaker 4: the end zone at the end to embarrass him. But
- 16:19Speaker 4: number two, he is absolutely right about everything he said
- 16:21Speaker 4: about that.
- 16:22Speaker 5: Did you see the KU chick flicking the guy off
- 16:24Speaker 5: after he scored?
- 16:25Speaker 4: I did, I did. I was like, my God.
- 16:27Speaker 6: First of all, I think Austin Simmons is really good.
- 16:30Speaker 5: Now– That Kansas defense is probably not very good, but
- 16:33Speaker 5: I think they're improved offensively, and especially when they get
- 16:36Speaker 5: Ahmad Hardy back.
- 16:37Speaker 4: Yeah, that's the whole thing. They're doing this without the
- 16:38Speaker 4: leading rusher in the SEC.
- 16:39Speaker 5: Their defense, Isaiah Marshall, the quarterback for Lance Leopold, boy,
- 16:43Speaker 5: he was shaky.
- 16:46Speaker 6: He had some open receivers.
- 16:48Speaker 5: I don't think Missouri's defense is going to be as good,
- 16:50Speaker 5: but I think the offense is going to be better.
- 16:52Speaker 5: With that said, Austin Simmons is going to be.
- 16:54Speaker 4: A tough out. But Missouri's not better than Alabama in
- 16:56Speaker 4: your eyes.
- 16:57Speaker 7: No.
- 16:57Speaker 4: Okay. I had not seen the video. And I know
- 17:02Speaker 4: you were doing other things, keeping up with the game.
- 17:05Speaker 4: Brando would not quit talking about how he did a rivalry.
- 17:09Speaker 4: Did you have the volume up?
- 17:10Speaker 6: Oh, yeah.
- 17:11Speaker 4: I mean, was I wrong? He played into it. This
- 17:13Speaker 4: is pure hatred. This is the border war. I mean,
- 17:16Speaker 4: it was standard Brando. He started a little like a vampire.
- 17:18Speaker 4: He really is. It was standard Brando. And it did
- 17:21Speaker 4: get a little scrappy. And then it was later in
- 17:24Speaker 4: the game that I found out about this whole video thing.
- 17:27Speaker 4: And because when... Drink is throwing in the end zone lane.
- 17:30Speaker 4: I was like, boy, that was weird.
- 17:31Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 17:32Speaker 4: He's leaning into this rubber. So you had not heard
- 17:33Speaker 4: about it going into the game. I just thought Brando
- 17:35Speaker 4: was way overselling this thing. I had no idea. And,
- 17:39Speaker 4: you know, I thought Brando, I didn't listen to the game.
- 17:43Speaker 4: I don't know. It was, they don't play again, I think,
- 17:47Speaker 4: until 2031. Yeah, that's right. Yeah. So it was. It'll
- 17:50Speaker 4: die down. No, I'm just saying it was a big, big,
- 17:53Speaker 4: bloody lead into this game. It was, it was. a
- 17:56Speaker 4: lot of hate between those two schools, and they were
- 17:58Speaker 4: leaning into it on the Kansas.
- 17:59Speaker 6: Yeah, I want to see it next year.
- 18:01Speaker 4: Yeah, I'd like them to play again. There's no doubt.
- 18:02Speaker 1: Yeah, and it was in Kansas' stadium. Been a while
- 18:05Speaker 1: since they'd had it, but a big win for Missouri there.
- 18:08Speaker 1: Texas A & M beat Arizona State. We talked about
- 18:11Speaker 1: that a little bit earlier passing, but now Texas A &
- 18:15Speaker 1: M gets Kentucky back there at Kyle Field, and I
- 18:19Speaker 1: get the feeling you don't think Kentucky can go into–
- 18:23Speaker 1: Aggieland and make it interesting at all?
- 18:25Speaker 5: If it wasn't for the Aggies' big play defense in
- 18:28Speaker 5: the fourth quarter, I mean, that game comes down to
- 18:31Speaker 5: a final possession. I thought Cutter Bowley, the former Kentucky quarterback,
- 18:34Speaker 5: was pretty good. Made a couple of mistakes there. I
- 18:38Speaker 5: am very unsure on A & M in this offense.
- 18:40Speaker 5: 3-12 on third downs. They missed Casey Concepcion. Reuben Owens
- 18:45Speaker 5: is a good back. He's not a great back. And
- 18:47Speaker 5: Marcel Reed, a lot of this is going to fall
- 18:49Speaker 5: on him. I like Elko a lot, but I'm not
- 18:54Speaker 5: so sure how good this A & M team is.
- 18:55Speaker 4: And keep in mind, his defensive coordinator from last year,
- 18:58Speaker 4: now Elko's a defensive guy, obviously, but his coordinator from
- 19:00Speaker 4: last year is Kentucky's coordinator. So if there is a
- 19:03Speaker 4: fall off on Kentucky's defense, you do legitimately ask the question,
- 19:08Speaker 4: was that it? I mean, the fact that they lost
- 19:10Speaker 4: their coordinator to Kentucky.
- 19:11Speaker 5: And Colin Klein, now the head coach of Kansas State.
- 19:14Speaker 4: And I was going to ask you, Holman Wiggins, our
- 19:17Speaker 4: buddy Connor O'Gara said, you know, Based on the research,
- 19:20Speaker 4: he is the only first-time play caller in all the
- 19:23Speaker 4: SEC this year.
- 19:24Speaker 1: Yeah, not that he's the only new coordinator. He's the
- 19:28Speaker 1: first coordinator that has never called.
- 19:30Speaker 4: Plays in the past. Never called plays anywhere, and he's
- 19:31Speaker 4: doing it for A & M, and their offense has
- 19:33Speaker 4: not really been the problem. The problem in that game
- 19:36Speaker 4: was every time A & M would score, and you thought, well,
- 19:38Speaker 4: that puts the game away, their defense would let Arizona
- 19:41Speaker 4: State come right back down and score.
- 19:42Speaker 6: Yeah, I thought it.
- 19:43Speaker 5: Was, I mean, the offense, 255 yards, they couldn't run
- 19:47Speaker 5: the football on Arizona State.
- 19:49Speaker 4: Yeah. That's a problem.
- 19:50Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 19:51Speaker 1: And as Dillingham said afterwards, our stats show that we
- 19:57Speaker 1: should have won this game. That's why stats are for losers.
- 19:59Speaker 1: They get on a flight now. They fly to London
- 20:02Speaker 1: to play Kansas.
- 20:03Speaker 6: Which is stupid.
- 20:04Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 20:04Speaker 4: And the– Hey, they're much improved without Leavitt. You think so? Yeah.
- 20:10Speaker 4: They are better looking.
- 20:11Speaker 1: At least in that one game this past weekend, they
- 20:13Speaker 1: did look better offensively without Sam Leavitt. It's a lot
- 20:18Speaker 1: of great games coming up this weekend. You can go
- 20:21Speaker 1: to my socials to get the TV schedule, the notes,
- 20:23Speaker 1: to take notes all weekend long. When we come back, though,
- 20:26Speaker 1: the growing superstar in the SEC finally gets a real
- 20:30Speaker 1: SEC challenge this weekend. We talk about Super Camario next
- 20:34Speaker 1: right here on the next round presented by Hard Rock
- 20:37Speaker 1: Bets on Sporting States. Back with you on the next
- 20:40Speaker 1: round presented by Hard Rock Bets on Sport and State.
- 20:44Speaker 1: Getting ready for a big weekend coming up. Before Brownie
- 20:46Speaker 1: tells us about XXXY, we react to what we saw
- 20:50Speaker 1: this past weekend. Listen, there are some traditions in sports,
- 20:57Speaker 1: and I think I've seen it one time live, Ralphie
- 20:59Speaker 1: running for Colorado. But think about our new Ralphie. And
- 21:03Speaker 1: she is apparently the fastest Ralphie they've ever had to date.
- 21:08Speaker 1: Watch Ralphie coming out of the gate. Look at the speed, y'all.
- 21:10Speaker 4: Good Lord.
- 21:12Speaker 1: That's a different, you know, you see it in slow-mo sometimes.
- 21:15Speaker 1: Look how fast that is. That's not sped up. Those
- 21:18Speaker 1: four people having to keep up holding that rope. That's
- 21:22Speaker 1: 173 yards they have to run on that dead sprint.
- 21:25Speaker 1: That full sprint.
- 21:26Speaker 5: Yeah, that's beyond dangerous. We've seen this go bad before.
- 21:29Speaker 5: Maddie asked me over the weekend. She was like, this
- 21:31Speaker 5: is AI. They don't have a real buffalo. And I'm like, oh, yeah,
- 21:34Speaker 5: they've got a real buffalo.
- 21:34Speaker 1: Now, they're babies. They get a lot bigger than this.
- 21:37Speaker 1: But the old one is out in the pasture now
- 21:39Speaker 1: and this one.
- 21:40Speaker 4: But look at that. That is... That's a dead sprint.
- 21:43Speaker 4: What kind of brakes that thing have? Because watch it
- 21:45Speaker 4: go into this trailer. That's why the head's flat. I mean,
- 21:52Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 21:54Speaker 5: They're just trusting the animal to slam on the brakes here.
- 21:57Speaker 4: I guess so.
- 21:57Speaker 5: But, I mean, when you've got basically not a harness
- 22:00Speaker 5: but the leash right there, like if that thing gets
- 22:03Speaker 5: caught up, somebody gets pulled under that.
- 22:05Speaker 1: Well, that's just four ropes, by the way. And that
- 22:08Speaker 1: old girl in the back there, I don't see how
- 22:10Speaker 1: any of them is keeping up.
- 22:11Speaker 8: No.
- 22:11Speaker 10: No.
- 22:12Speaker 4: I mean, it is full sprint. They have got to
- 22:14Speaker 4: be exhausted at the end of this.
- 22:16Speaker 5: Yeah, that's like a bracket challenge loser right there.
- 22:19Speaker 4: 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50.
- 22:20Speaker 6: They sign up for that.
- 22:21Speaker 4: I know. 55, 60, 65, 70, 75. So 75. 78,
- 22:24Speaker 4: and you're turning there. That's right, and then you go
- 22:28Speaker 4: back the other 78 at full sprint.
- 22:31Speaker 6: Yeah, you're going to need oxygen.
- 22:32Speaker 9: Imagine doing this in jeans, and I think the girls
- 22:34Speaker 9: in the back look like they have cowgirl boots on.
- 22:37Speaker 4: And, by the way, at altitude. Yeah, they're cowboy boots
- 22:40Speaker 4: worn by girls, right? We don't call them cowgirl boots,
- 22:43Speaker 4: do we?
- 22:43Speaker 6: Yeah, the girl in the very back, boy, she's having
- 22:45Speaker 6: a hard time keeping up.
- 22:47Speaker 4: Cowperson boots.
- 22:48Speaker 5: But watch them try to slam on the brakes once
- 22:50Speaker 5: they let go of the leash.
- 22:52Speaker 4: Yeah, I know.
- 22:52Speaker 1: If you're the inside, you don't have much runway here.
- 22:54Speaker 1: You've got to stop pretty quick here.
- 22:56Speaker 4: Oh, that's right, yeah. Looks like one old boy jumps
- 22:59Speaker 4: in the wagon with him. Yeah, I would not do that. No,
- 23:02Speaker 4: that'd be a mistake.
- 23:02Speaker 10: Yep.
- 23:03Speaker 4: Just, I thought it.
- 23:05Speaker 1: That impresses me more from the high view, no slow-mo,
- 23:08Speaker 1: just full speed. Hats off to Ralphie running. Colorado got
- 23:12Speaker 1: the win. Dion spoke in tongues afterwards.
- 23:14Speaker 4: It was all good. Legitimately did. You're not making that up.
- 23:17Speaker 4: He started his press conference speaking in tongues.
- 23:19Speaker 1: XXXY brings you part of the show before we talk
- 23:21Speaker 1: about one of the brightest young stars through two weeks
- 23:23Speaker 1: of college football. Founded by Jennifer Say, the former national
- 23:26Speaker 1: champion gymnast, former Levi's brand president, and she walked away
- 23:30Speaker 1: from that corporate job rather than say something she simply
- 23:32Speaker 1: did not believe in. And when she did, she started
- 23:35Speaker 1: XXXY Athletics instead.
- 23:38Speaker 4: And their mission, in words, empower female athletes to take
- 23:41Speaker 4: a stand for fair competition. It's why it's called the
- 23:44Speaker 4: T that launched a movement. It is real athletic apparel.
- 23:48Speaker 4: It's not just a slogan on a shirt. You've got
- 23:50Speaker 4: performance tops. You've got tanks, sports bras, leggings, shorts, training sets. Hoodies, hats,
- 23:55Speaker 4: graphic tees, men's and women's clothing. And it's worn by
- 23:59Speaker 4: athletes who've actually put something on the line. In fact,
- 24:02Speaker 4: they also are the home to Nashville Balls franchise, the
- 24:06Speaker 4: official Nashville Balls gear, Clay Travis' future WNBA franchise. You

- 24:23Speaker 4: State beats Minnesota 38-13. Kamario Taylor had three touchdowns. He
- 24:28Speaker 4: rushed for 86. No interceptions. It's a road win in
- 24:32Speaker 4: the Big Ten for Mississippi State. Here's Kamario after the win.
- 24:37Speaker 8: You were on the team last year and in the
- 24:38Speaker 8: locker room when you guys beat Arizona State and Arkansas
- 24:41Speaker 8: in really close wins. But what does it just feel
- 24:43Speaker 8: like to have a win like this where it's pretty
- 24:45Speaker 8: convincing and win by a big total?
- 24:48Speaker 11: It means a lot just winning the game, period, you know,
- 24:51Speaker 11: no matter the score, no matter what. But I feel
- 24:53Speaker 11: like we all know that we love playing on the field.
- 24:55Speaker 11: We all know we could have did better and we
- 24:58Speaker 11: could have executed better on our end of the ball. So, like,
- 25:01Speaker 11: we're not satisfied at all of it. We're happy that
- 25:04Speaker 11: we won. We're glad we got the dub for our
- 25:05Speaker 11: fan base and for our coaches. But we know as
- 25:08Speaker 11: a team and as a unit, even the coaches know
- 25:10Speaker 11: that we should have put that game away real early.
- 25:13Speaker 11: And we know, so we can't be sad if we
- 25:14Speaker 11: got to try to build on that.
- 25:15Speaker 1: Two games, Lance. 581 yards passing, 145 yards rushing, eight touchdowns,
- 25:22Speaker 1: no interception. Minnesota's not a bad football team, and doing
- 25:25Speaker 1: it up there to them What do you make of
- 25:27Speaker 1: Camario and Mississippi State so far?
- 25:29Speaker 5: I think he is a top four or five quarterback
- 25:32Speaker 5: in the SEC already.
- 25:34Speaker 4: Wow.
- 25:34Speaker 5: I am not ready to say this is a Cam
- 25:36Speaker 5: Newton-Auburn situation, but they're going to beat a couple of
- 25:40Speaker 5: teams they shouldn't this year.
- 25:41Speaker 4: They're an extremely difficult talent. And if you happen to
- 25:43Speaker 4: catch them in Starkville, like Alabama does in a couple weeks,
- 25:46Speaker 4: really difficult.
- 25:46Speaker 5: This is what's going to be frustrating for Alabama fans
- 25:49Speaker 5: and Oklahoma fans.
- 25:51Speaker 6: Mississippi State can run the football.
- 25:53Speaker 5: And, you know, it starts with Camario, but Fluff Bothwell–
- 25:57Speaker 5: He goes for 113, over six yards a carry on
- 26:00Speaker 5: the road against a really sound Minnesota defense.
- 26:04Speaker 6: I mean, they blew him out of the water early.
- 26:06Speaker 6: At halftime, you knew it was over.
- 26:08Speaker 5: I mean, Minnesota offensively wasn't going to come back with
- 26:10Speaker 5: Drake Lindsey, but Kamario Taylor should be a bigger story.
- 26:13Speaker 5: If he was playing for anybody outside of Mississippi State,
- 26:16Speaker 5: he would be a bigger story.
- 26:18Speaker 4: Yes, let me make this point real quick, Brownie.
- 26:20Speaker 1: ESPN's SP Plus from where the preseason was to where
- 26:24Speaker 1: it is after two weeks. The five biggest improved teams
- 26:28Speaker 1: from where they were to where they are now, LSU, Utah, Alabama,
- 26:34Speaker 1: Kansas State is the second best improvement. Mississippi State's the
- 26:38Speaker 1: biggest improvement. Kansas State and Mississippi State, two and one.
- 26:42Speaker 6: Just watch out.
- 26:43Speaker 5: I've just got a feeling, and I said this a
- 26:45Speaker 5: decade ago with Ole Miss, and Alabama fans got upset,
- 26:48Speaker 5: but it came to fruition.
- 26:50Speaker 6: I think Mississippi State's going to beat Alabama in Starkville.
- 26:53Speaker 4: Coming up in a couple weeks.
- 26:54Speaker 6: I do.
- 26:54Speaker 7: Yep.
- 26:55Speaker 5: I mean, I just think it's going to be a
- 26:56Speaker 5: really difficult game. I think Alabama's going to be like
- 26:58Speaker 5: a seven-point favorite. And Mississippi State's probably a five- or
- 27:02Speaker 5: six-win team, which would be– I don't know how you
- 27:04Speaker 5: guys feel.
- 27:05Speaker 6: That would be a hell of an improvement for Jeff Levy.
- 27:07Speaker 4: No doubt about it.
- 27:08Speaker 1: I mean– They were five and seven last year, and
- 27:11Speaker 1: I think went to a bowl game because of the APR.
- 27:13Speaker 1: But they are a team that has a quarterback that
- 27:19Speaker 1: is a superstar.
- 27:20Speaker 4: You can't deny that. He's that good. I mean, it was–
- 27:24Speaker 4: To me, and understand, you know, I'm probably grading this
- 27:28Speaker 4: on a curve. I think it was the most impressive
- 27:29Speaker 4: thing I saw in the SEC this weekend. The way
- 27:32Speaker 4: they beat Minnesota up there. Not that Minnesota's great. Not
- 27:35Speaker 4: that this is a tough place to play. But State
- 27:36Speaker 4: going on the road. against a power conference team that's
- 27:39Speaker 4: at least a mid-tier power conference team. You just have
- 27:42Speaker 4: not seen them do this over the years.
- 27:44Speaker 6: Yeah, if I'm an Arkansas fan, what is going on?
- 27:47Speaker 5: Like I saw Arkansas fans talking about Silverfield this weekend
- 27:51Speaker 5: and like how outcoached they were.
- 27:53Speaker 4: Uncompetitive at Utah. They really were.
- 27:56Speaker 5: You know, I mean, it was just embarrassing down 29-3
- 27:57Speaker 5: at halftime. But they were on the other end of
- 28:00Speaker 5: the spectrum. Like, if I'm an Arkansas fan, I look
- 28:03Speaker 5: at Mississippi State, and I'm like, they were awful a
- 28:05Speaker 5: couple of years ago.
- 28:06Speaker 6: And you see promise with Mississippi State.
- 28:08Speaker 2: At least.
- 28:09Speaker 5: You know, and this coming weekend, I don't know how
- 28:10Speaker 5: you guys feel about it, but going up to Columbia
- 28:12Speaker 5: to take on South Carolina, he is the better quarterback
- 28:15Speaker 5: of him and Lenore Sellers.
- 28:16Speaker 4: I agree, and that's two teams that can run the football.
- 28:18Speaker 4: South Carolina is running the heck out of the football
- 28:20Speaker 4: right now.
- 28:20Speaker 1: That's one of those sneaky good games that will be
- 28:23Speaker 1: off the radar this week in the SEC. It's a
- 28:26Speaker 1: prove-it time for Mississippi State. Minnesota is one thing. Winning
- 28:29Speaker 1: in the SEC on the road is another thing. We'll
- 28:31Speaker 1: see what they do at South Carolina. Same for South Carolina, though.
- 28:34Speaker 1: A win over them, and now we start to respect
- 28:37Speaker 1: them a little bit. By the way, quickly, the five
- 28:40Speaker 1: SP-plus declining teams, according to Bill Connolly, since the season began.
- 28:45Speaker 1: Washington's the fifth worst. Texas Tech's the fourth worst. More
- 28:50Speaker 1: on them in a moment. Arkansas, the third worst. Oregon's
- 28:53Speaker 1: the second worst, and Rutgers is the.
- 28:55Speaker 4: Worst, from where they were to where they are now
- 28:57Speaker 4: after two weeks. Where was Arkansas? I know they sucked,
- 29:00Speaker 4: but I thought they sucked going in. I'm surprised they're
- 29:02Speaker 4: on that list. I think they were, like some SEC teams,
- 29:05Speaker 4: I think the worst were in the 40s.
- 29:07Speaker 5: You know how difficult it is to start in the
- 29:09Speaker 5: top 25, start the season 2-0 and fall out of
- 29:12Speaker 5: the poll?
- 29:13Speaker 6: I think that's the first time in poll history, isn't it, Washington?
- 29:16Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 29:16Speaker 6: And then Texas Tech.
- 29:17Speaker 5: I give DeMarcus Shepard a lot of credit because I
- 29:19Speaker 5: said this last week on the show. Houston has serious
- 29:23Speaker 5: problems in the secondary. I think it might be how
- 29:25Speaker 5: DeMarcus and his staff are or dialing up plays.
- 29:27Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 29:28Speaker 5: Because that Legree kid can play.
- 29:30Speaker 6: That receiver.
- 29:30Speaker 4: DeMarcus Shepard, Oregon State. Legree, what was he this week?
- 29:34Speaker 4: 283 receiving? Is that what he was?
- 29:36Speaker 3: 240.
- 29:36Speaker 4: Eight catches, 242 touchdowns.
- 29:41Speaker 5: And that was played in a lot of rain. And
- 29:43Speaker 5: Texas Tech, there is no explosion. Well, I think I've
- 29:49Speaker 5: got it coming up in four downs.
- 29:50Speaker 6: But I've got a point on Joey McGuire.
- 29:52Speaker 4: Yeah, well, the Beavs led that game against Texas Tech.
- 29:57Speaker 4: 24-21 deep into the fourth quarter before Texas Tech finally–
- 30:00Speaker 4: gets out a lot you you texted me and said
- 30:03Speaker 4: tech is in trouble and i was like yeah uh
- 30:07Speaker 4: brinkey it's going backwards well actually i was talking about
- 30:09Speaker 4: texas tech but yes and is that list by the
- 30:13Speaker 4: way i mean georgia takes uh they didn't make the
- 30:15Speaker 4: bottom five i'm sure they're they gotta be close yeah
- 30:18Speaker 4: yeah but uh but no texas tech is not i
- 30:20Speaker 4: mean this is what you worried about when they lost
- 30:22Speaker 4: sorsby and everybody's like ah will hammond comes in don't
- 30:24Speaker 4: even adjust the point spreads I mean, through two games,
- 30:27Speaker 4: that has not looked like a very good team.
- 30:28Speaker 5: Castellanos came in, and I almost would really take a
- 30:32Speaker 5: look at Castellanos.
- 30:33Speaker 4: I projected it last week. I don't know.
- 30:35Speaker 1: It must have been the day you were out, but
- 30:36Speaker 1: I told Brown. I said, they've got Castellanos ready to go.
- 30:39Speaker 1: I bet he gets into the game this weekend after
- 30:42Speaker 1: watching him in game one, and they had a package
- 30:44Speaker 1: for him, and they'll probably keep that package moving forward.
- 30:48Speaker 1: We know why they fought so hard for Brendan Sorsby now.
- 30:53Speaker 4: In that Big 12 this weekend, you get Houston and
- 30:56Speaker 4: Texas Tech on Friday night.
- 30:59Speaker 1: You get SMU and Louisville Saturday in the ACC. Georgia
- 31:04Speaker 1: Tech's down in the ACC. Clemson seems to be down
- 31:07Speaker 1: in the ACC. Miami's at the top. SMU versus Louisville
- 31:11Speaker 1: coming up this weekend. Two teams we've seen in competitive games.
- 31:17Speaker 1: Louisville losing to Ole Miss. SMU beating Florida State. Where
- 31:20Speaker 1: are you on SMU and Louisville as we get ready
- 31:22Speaker 1: for that game?
- 31:23Speaker 4: Well, I mean, I think you could see the winner
- 31:24Speaker 4: of this game play Miami for the conference championship because
- 31:26Speaker 4: you look at the rest of the conference, Virginia notwithstanding,
- 31:29Speaker 4: we need to see some more from Virginia. Clemson ain't
- 31:32Speaker 4: turning it around. They were bad again. They didn't score
- 31:35Speaker 4: in the final three quarters of the game. They're changing quarterbacks.
- 31:39Speaker 4: So Clemson's down. Florida State's down. They're about to go
- 31:42Speaker 4: get drubbed by Alabama. Um, Georgia Tech, I don't think,
- 31:47Speaker 4: can turn this thing around. That's going to be a
- 31:48Speaker 4: bad Georgia Tech team. 0-2 both at home. Yeah, both
- 31:51Speaker 4: at home 0-2 and one last second. Tennessee whipped them.
- 31:56Speaker 4: I mean, Tennessee absolutely whipped Georgia Tech. I just don't
- 32:00Speaker 4: know where else the contenders in the ACC are going
- 32:02Speaker 4: to come from, Lance, if not Louisville, SMU, and Virginia.
- 32:06Speaker 6: Well, you're defending ACC champion.
- 32:07Speaker 5: I'm not a Manny Diaz guy, but they have the
- 32:10Speaker 5: best running back in the country in Nate Shepard.
- 32:12Speaker 6: I really believe that.
- 32:14Speaker 5: As good as Kiwan Lacy is, I think Nate Shepard
- 32:17Speaker 5: might be the best running back.
- 32:18Speaker 6: They go to Illinois. They beat them. Not that Illinois
- 32:20Speaker 6: is world beaters.
- 32:21Speaker 1: Yeah, but they've got to put Nate Shepard up on
- 32:24Speaker 1: the rack this weekend to change his four tires. I mean,
- 32:26Speaker 1: he's carried the ball 59 times in two games.
- 32:30Speaker 6: And I would keep feeding him.
- 32:32Speaker 1: First game, 35 carries, 227 yards, and at Illinois, 24
- 32:37Speaker 1: for 147.
- 32:38Speaker 5: I watched way too much of that game because I
- 32:40Speaker 5: had Duke plus the points this weekend.
- 32:42Speaker 6: But, man, he is so freaking good.
- 32:45Speaker 5: With all that said, I still think– I've got a
- 32:48Speaker 5: feeling that Keen Holtz, by the end of the year,
- 32:51Speaker 5: we might be talking about him as a first-round quarterback.
- 32:54Speaker 5: I think he is going to be one of the surprises.
- 32:56Speaker 5: And everybody's talking about Kevin Jennings, and deservingly so. He's
- 32:59Speaker 5: got so much experience. But I think Keen Holtz could
- 33:01Speaker 5: be the difference this weekend.
- 33:03Speaker 4: Yeah, it's an under-the-radar, really good game, Louisville and SMU.
- 33:05Speaker 1: Yeah, Louisville, Keen Holtz quarterback, maybe the best Brahma's had
- 33:09Speaker 1: in his time at Louisville. All right, show me the
- 33:12Speaker 1: AP poll, if you can, Forrester. Texas is number one.
- 33:18Speaker 1: The big question, I think everybody knew Texas was going
- 33:20Speaker 1: to be number one. They wanted to know how far
- 33:22Speaker 1: Ohio State would drop and how far Oregon would drop.
- 33:25Speaker 1: For Ohio State, down to six. So it's Texas, Georgia,
- 33:30Speaker 1: Notre Dame, Indiana, Miami, Ohio State, LSU and Ole Miss,
- 33:34Speaker 1: seven and eight. They play each other this weekend.
- 33:36Speaker 4: Texas, A & M, and Alabama rounding up the top ten.
- 33:39Speaker 7: Oregon.
- 33:40Speaker 1: Drops all the way down to 21.
- 33:43Speaker 4: Fair or not fair? I think it's fair because I
- 33:46Speaker 4: think you've got to judge them only on the two
- 33:49Speaker 4: games they played, not on what you thought they were
- 33:51Speaker 4: going to be. So if you judge them on the
- 33:52Speaker 4: two games they played, Dante Moore probably has played C- football,
- 33:58Speaker 4: if not D-level football for them. Fair. Defense has played
- 34:02Speaker 4: F football, so why would I have them... I mean,
- 34:05Speaker 4: you could make an argument to drop them all the
- 34:06Speaker 4: way out, but they won the Boise game, so that
- 34:08Speaker 4: wasn't going to happen.
- 34:09Speaker 5: Yeah, I can't keep up with all of it, but
- 34:11Speaker 5: is game control still something?
- 34:13Speaker 4: That is... I don't think AP uses that. I think
- 34:16Speaker 4: game control is something in the college football playoff, which
- 34:19Speaker 4: Oregon may not have to worry about.
- 34:20Speaker 6: Well, yeah, they haven't had game control even back to
- 34:22Speaker 6: Boise and Autzen.
- 34:23Speaker 4: So you're saying they were... They were losing late in
- 34:25Speaker 4: that one, right?
- 34:26Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, that was just a back-and-forth affair with
- 34:29Speaker 5: a group six, and I'll be at a really good
- 34:31Speaker 5: group six, but still, that is a game that they
- 34:34Speaker 5: should have easily. I mean, they've been 24-and-a-half-point favorites in
- 34:37Speaker 5: both of their first two matchups. That's how much talent
- 34:40Speaker 5: they have. This makes no sense where Oregon is, but yes,
- 34:43Speaker 5: I think it is very deserving they're sitting at 21
- 34:45Speaker 5: right now.
- 34:46Speaker 1: There are six Big Ten teams ranked higher than them,
- 34:48Speaker 1: six of them, and I don't think that leagues that
- 34:51Speaker 1: deep to where Oregon at seven is. If they really
- 34:54Speaker 1: are the seventh best team in the league, there's not
- 34:55Speaker 1: a playoff team.
- 34:56Speaker 6: But to your point real quick, they're better than Michigan
- 34:58Speaker 6: in front of them.
- 34:59Speaker 4: I think so, too.
- 34:59Speaker 5: They're better than Iowa. They're better than Penn State. I
- 35:03Speaker 5: don't know about USC. I think USC is going to
- 35:06Speaker 5: end up being really, really good.
- 35:07Speaker 4: I would say USC, the way Oregon's defense is playing
- 35:10Speaker 4: right now, what would USC score on them? I mean—
- 35:13Speaker 4: Maiva and that USC offense would have a field day
- 35:17Speaker 4: against that Oregon defense, and they probably will in a
- 35:18Speaker 4: couple weeks. I would expect it would look a lot
- 35:20Speaker 4: like the Bears and Panthers. Yeah, it wouldn't surprise me
- 35:22Speaker 4: at all.
- 35:23Speaker 5: Yeah, and just because I'm making these probably ridiculous statements,
- 35:26Speaker 5: Nate Shepard best running back, Trent Mosley fourth best offensive
- 35:32Speaker 5: player right now in football.
- 35:33Speaker 6: And that's a true freshman for USC.
- 35:35Speaker 4: Who Oregon's going to have to defend, and Oregon hasn't
- 35:37Speaker 4: defended anybody. And to Dan Lanning's credit, he's right. The
- 35:42Speaker 4: Oklahoma State Oregon score did not indicate what a whipping
- 35:44Speaker 4: that was.
- 35:45Speaker 6: Oh, yeah.
- 35:47Speaker 1: Scheduling is an issue in college football. We'll talk a
- 35:50Speaker 1: little bit about that through two weeks. Joel Klatt's with
- 35:53Speaker 1: us today at 1130 Central, 1230 Eastern on our Next
- 35:57Speaker 1: Round platform at Next Round Live on YouTube. Instagram on

- 36:07Speaker 4: Clay and Buck today. You can do that.
- 36:10Speaker 1: One more big-picture thing, out-of-conference games, the bad ones but
- 36:14Speaker 1: really the good ones, and how the conferences have shaped
- 36:16Speaker 1: up against each other when we come back on the
- 36:19Speaker 1: next round presented by Hard Rock Bets on Sporting State.
- 36:22Speaker 1: Another reason to hang around for our final two hours
- 36:24Speaker 1: because in about 30 minutes, Lance will tell me again
- 36:29Speaker 1: why I'm the dumbest bettor in all the world.
- 36:32Speaker 4: I've never seen.
- 36:32Speaker 6: Anything like you just showed me.
- 36:34Speaker 4: I really haven't.
- 36:35Speaker 6: Would you go 9 for 10 on a parlay?
- 36:37Speaker 12: Just wait.

- 37:00Speaker 1: And then we have some big points coming out of
- 37:02Speaker 1: week two before we turn it over to the next
- 37:04Speaker 1: round of guys at the top of the hour.
- 37:06Speaker 6: Yeah, accidents do not wait for a good time.
- 37:09Speaker 5: One bad moment, a wreck, a fall, a doctor who
- 37:11Speaker 5: wasn't paying attention, and suddenly you're fighting an insurance company
- 37:14Speaker 5: that does this every single day. That's why Clay started
- 37:17Speaker 5: Clay Travis Law. He built a firm around one idea.
- 37:20Speaker 5: People deserve someone willing to pay attention, ask the hard questions,

- 37:49Speaker 1: Texas now number one in the AP poll, and they've
- 37:52Speaker 1: got the Ohio State win in their back pocket, something
- 37:55Speaker 1: Sark talked about after the game.
- 37:59Speaker 12: I know you ended last season thinking that you know
- 38:01Speaker 12: the loss to Ohio State maybe cost you a playoff
- 38:05Speaker 12: spot if you'd have played somebody easier to play you
- 38:07Speaker 12: know now that you have this one in the bank
- 38:09Speaker 12: just curious your thoughts about being on the other side
- 38:11Speaker 12: of that knowing you can't recreate what you had tonight
- 38:15Speaker 12: you know playing somebody lesser.
- 38:17Speaker 10: Have you seen the rest of our schedule we we
- 38:19Speaker 10: got a long way to go man we got a
- 38:22Speaker 10: long way to go you know so we're gonna We
- 38:25Speaker 10: got some really good teams we got coming down the pipe.
- 38:28Speaker 10: We got some really tough environments we need to go into.
- 38:31Speaker 10: And so the biggest thing for this game to put
- 38:33Speaker 10: in the bank is knowing when we get faced with adversity,
- 38:37Speaker 10: and we're going to in September, October, November, hopefully into
- 38:41Speaker 10: December and January, that we can fight back. And, you know,
- 38:46Speaker 10: this is a really big win, obviously. Hopefully it pays
- 38:50Speaker 10: dividends for us in December. Um, but, but we got,
- 38:53Speaker 10: we got a lot more meat on our bone that,
- 38:55Speaker 10: that we've got to, we got to chew off here
- 38:57Speaker 10: before we start worrying about, is this win help us
- 38:59Speaker 10: get into a playoff or not? You know, we, we
- 39:01Speaker 10: got a long way to go.
- 39:02Speaker 1: You said there would be a three team, three loss
- 39:06Speaker 1: regular season team that would make the playoffs. They now
- 39:10Speaker 1: are in the best position to be that team.
- 39:12Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 39:13Speaker 5: I think Ohio state will still make the playoffs. And
- 39:15Speaker 5: I think it's going to be three losses. That was
- 39:17Speaker 5: so much more important for Texas to win that game
- 39:20Speaker 5: because You talked about the fourth down conversion that failed
- 39:24Speaker 5: in the first half, but the two in the fourth
- 39:25Speaker 5: quarter were the difference.
- 39:27Speaker 4: And Arch was really, really good on those plays, by
- 39:29Speaker 4: the way.
- 39:30Speaker 6: Was really good in the fourth quarter.
- 39:31Speaker 5: It was so weird because– He was bad otherwise.
- 39:35Speaker 6: He said it on the broadcast.
- 39:36Speaker 5: It's kind of a microcosm of where Arch is from
- 39:38Speaker 5: where he started to where he finished. But with all
- 39:41Speaker 5: that said, if they lose that game, if they don't
- 39:44Speaker 5: get those fourth downs and they lose that game, let's
- 39:46Speaker 5: just say 23-10– I don't think any of us would
- 39:50Speaker 5: say Texas with that schedule, they're going to lose at
- 39:53Speaker 5: least four games. So now Texas has got a ton
- 39:55Speaker 5: of confidence. They are in a really, really good situation.
- 40:00Speaker 5: I still don't know how they came back.
- 40:01Speaker 4: I really don't either. And I especially don't when Jeremiah
- 40:04Speaker 4: Smith is on the other team because Texas had no
- 40:06Speaker 4: answer for him all night long. I mean, that guy.
- 40:08Speaker 6: I would trade Puka for him right now. I know
- 40:10Speaker 6: that sounds crazy.
- 40:11Speaker 4: I really, really would. I told the basement, everybody that
- 40:14Speaker 4: was in my basement, I was like, my Dolphins are
- 40:15Speaker 4: going to have the first pick. Don't even think quarterback.
- 40:17Speaker 4: Don't even think about any of these quarterbacks, especially now
- 40:20Speaker 4: that I've seen Arch and Dante Moore through a couple
- 40:21Speaker 4: of weeks. Don't think about any of these quarterbacks. Go
- 40:25Speaker 4: Jeremiah Smith. Don't overthink this. That guy is an NFL receiver.
- 40:29Speaker 4: He is. That one catch.
- 40:30Speaker 1: You take that guy and then, you know. Get somebody's
- 40:34Speaker 1: number two. Find your Sam Darnold.
- 40:36Speaker 4: Figure it out. Figure it out. But get Jeremiah Smith.
- 40:38Speaker 4: That guy is an NFL receiver playing college football.
- 40:41Speaker 5: Yeah, like who would you take in the NFL over
- 40:43Speaker 5: him right now? I mean, Jamar Chase, two grabs yesterday.
- 40:45Speaker 5: Justin Jefferson, his first home touchdown since December of 24.
- 40:49Speaker 4: Jackson Smith and Jigba, maybe. He looks as good as
- 40:52Speaker 4: all those guys. And, I mean, he is just– he's different.
- 40:56Speaker 4: He is cut different.
- 40:57Speaker 1: Cut different, too, is the Big Ten this year. They've
- 41:00Speaker 1: been taking some victory laps. Non-conference versus power four teams. Now,
- 41:06Speaker 1: this isn't, you know, Indiana's and the Hamptons and the
- 41:10Speaker 1: Howards or whoever it was. It isn't Alabama and East Carolina.
- 41:13Speaker 1: This is power four versus non-conference power four. The SEC
- 41:19Speaker 1: is eight and two with teams like Mississippi State and
- 41:22Speaker 1: Tennessee getting big road wins this weekend. The ACC is
- 41:26Speaker 1: five and six. The Big 12 is four and seven.
- 41:32Speaker 1: The Big Ten is 3-6 in Power 4 versus Power
- 41:37Speaker 1: 4 non-conference teams.
- 41:38Speaker 4: They are 3-6.
- 41:40Speaker 1: And they got two of their wins this weekend, Michigan
- 41:42Speaker 1: over Oklahoma and Iowa over Iowa State. They were 2-5
- 41:46Speaker 1: in those games this weekend.
- 41:47Speaker 4: Wow.
- 41:47Speaker 5: You know, I think it is so, again, it's like
- 41:51Speaker 5: I can talk about my kids, but you can't. It's
- 41:54Speaker 5: how SEC fans are, like everybody rallying against the Big Ten.
- 41:57Speaker 5: I had so many texts. And people so excited about
- 42:00Speaker 5: Texas winning this game. It was weird for me because
- 42:03Speaker 5: I didn't have anybody in fantasy playing in that game.
- 42:06Speaker 5: I didn't have a side or total. I wasn't pulling
- 42:08Speaker 5: for anybody. I was just sitting back watching that game unfold.
- 42:12Speaker 5: But there were so.
- 42:12Speaker 6: Many SEC fans that wanted to see Texas win that game.
- 42:15Speaker 4: I think a lot of it is the SEC, but
- 42:17Speaker 4: a lot of it is Ohio State, too. I think
- 42:19Speaker 4: Ohio State is the most hated of the Big Ten teams.
- 42:22Speaker 4: And then I would say the same, probably Michigan is
- 42:24Speaker 4: second in that, too. That's who Oklahoma was playing, and
- 42:27Speaker 4: I think the opposite of that. A lot of SEC
- 42:29Speaker 4: fans were very disappointed in Oklahoma's performance in that game.
- 42:32Speaker 4: Because think about how bad a day that would have
- 42:33Speaker 4: been for the Big Ten. It was a bad day
- 42:36Speaker 4: for the Big Ten anyway. It was a bad day
- 42:37Speaker 4: for the Big Ten.
- 42:38Speaker 5: But imagine how bad it would have been for the SEC,
- 42:40Speaker 5: even with those numbers, because the two games everybody would
- 42:42Speaker 5: have looked at.
- 42:43Speaker 6: Where the early game with Michigan, you know, dominated.
- 42:46Speaker 5: That thing could have been 17-0.
- 42:48Speaker 6: And then if Texas loses by 20. No, you're right.
- 42:50Speaker 4: It could have been an awful day for the SEC
- 42:52Speaker 4: or a worse day for the Big Ten. If Oklahoma
- 42:54Speaker 4: can find any offense to win that game, you'd have
- 42:57Speaker 4: lost Michigan-Oklahoma, Minnesota getting drubbed by Mississippi State, Oregon getting
- 43:02Speaker 4: embarrassed by Oklahoma State. and then Ohio State blowing it
- 43:05Speaker 4: on the road against Texas. That would have been a
- 43:07Speaker 4: bad day for the Big Ten. It was bad anyway.
- 43:09Speaker 4: Could have been worse. But to your point, it could
- 43:10Speaker 4: have been worse for the SEC, too. If Texas gets
- 43:13Speaker 4: beat by three touchdowns like it looked like they were
- 43:15Speaker 4: headed to doing, that would have been a bad day
- 43:16Speaker 4: for the SEC.
- 43:17Speaker 1: The ACC was 3-0 against the Big Ten over the weekend.
- 43:21Speaker 1: The red bandana game, Boston College over Rutgers. You had
- 43:25Speaker 1: Wake Forest beating Purdue and Duke beating Illinois. So the
- 43:30Speaker 1: bottom and the mids not doing too well for the
- 43:32Speaker 1: Big Ten this weekend, too.
- 43:34Speaker 5: I am ready to say this. The SEC is better
- 43:37Speaker 5: not only top to bottom. I think they're better at
- 43:39Speaker 5: the top this year.
- 43:40Speaker 4: I really do. Than the Big Ten.
- 43:42Speaker 6: Than the Big Ten. I think Ohio State's still really good.
- 43:44Speaker 6: I think Indiana. I don't know if I trust.
- 43:48Speaker 5: Josh Huber to the level Mendoza, but he's still good.
- 43:52Speaker 4: Charlie Becker. They're just playing nobody.
- 43:54Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 43:55Speaker 6: The best receiver in Indiana history, in my opinion.
- 43:59Speaker 4: Antoine Randall-Elley, put him in front of that. Now, when
- 44:01Speaker 4: Klatt's here later on, I'm not going to bring it up.
- 44:05Speaker 7: Okay?
- 44:05Speaker 4: I'm not going to bring it up.
- 44:06Speaker 12: Okay.
- 44:06Speaker 1: Because we only have a certain amount of time with Klatt,
- 44:09Speaker 1: and that will turn into a 15-minute discussion. But he
- 44:12Speaker 1: is notorious for that end-of-the-year weekend, right before rivalry weekend,
- 44:19Speaker 1: that the SEC— Is cleaning up more and more every
- 44:22Speaker 1: year now that they got.
- 44:22Speaker 4: Nine conference games. Largely eliminated now, yeah.
- 44:25Speaker 1: There is a lot of games there where, you know,
- 44:30Speaker 1: it's the SEC versus an FCS or a Sunbelt team.
- 44:35Speaker 1: Late in the year, right before rivalry game. But in
- 44:39Speaker 1: weeks one and week two. When you get a conference game.
- 44:43Speaker 1: Alabama was a conference game at Kentucky. I wonder how
- 44:46Speaker 1: Klatt would feel. I mean, even if it was the
- 44:48Speaker 1: equivalent of Alabama playing at the equivalent of Kentucky in
- 44:51Speaker 1: the Big Ten, that would be better on the big
- 44:53Speaker 1: noon kickoff. than Kent State and Ohio State. They play
- 44:57Speaker 1: these games. They just play them at the beginning. And
- 44:59Speaker 1: what Indiana's doing is a quarter of their season is nothing.
- 45:04Speaker 1: We don't know what Indiana is yet. They've played nobody.
- 45:06Speaker 6: Fox is wasting money on this, by the way.
- 45:09Speaker 4: Absolutely.
- 45:09Speaker 10: They are.
- 45:09Speaker 4: That's why the Big Ten may have to change this, though. Historically,
- 45:12Speaker 4: the Big Ten has said, play all your preseason games,
- 45:15Speaker 4: or excuse me, all your pre-conference games at the front.
- 45:18Speaker 4: Once we get to Big Ten games, it's nothing but
- 45:19Speaker 4: Big Ten games. And all their rivalries, except for USC
- 45:23Speaker 4: and Notre Dame now, which is why the Big Ten
- 45:25Speaker 4: is going to have to rethink this. All their rivalry
- 45:28Speaker 4: games are Big Ten versus Big Ten. You know, Michigan, Ohio,
- 45:31Speaker 4: Michigan State, Michigan. Because of their great history. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 45:35Speaker 4: So anyway, they've always done that. But now, with the
- 45:38Speaker 4: way the team's scheduled and as much money as Fox
- 45:40Speaker 4: is paying, Lance is right. Fox has gotten one good
- 45:42Speaker 4: game in the first three weeks. if you call that
- 45:45Speaker 4: a good game, I mean, that was a tough game
- 45:46Speaker 4: to watch at times, honestly, Oklahoma and Michigan. Too bad
- 45:48Speaker 4: offensive football team. I can't believe. But it's a great
- 45:50Speaker 4: helmet game.
- 45:51Speaker 5: Like, you know, I'm not a big Gus fan, but
- 45:53Speaker 5: with his credibility and credentials and resume, that him and
- 45:57Speaker 5: Klatt have to sit into these coaches' meetings.
- 46:01Speaker 6: Like, that is your A-team for Fox.
- 46:04Speaker 4: I know. How are they even talking to the Ball
- 46:06Speaker 4: State coaches? It's just, it's a Kent State.
- 46:09Speaker 5: And right now, um, 52 and a half point favorites.
- 46:13Speaker 4: You think, you think Klatt tells the Fox people, Hey,
- 46:15Speaker 4: we've got the Kent state coach lined up for a
- 46:18Speaker 4: noon Thursday's class.
- 46:19Speaker 7: I'm good.
- 46:20Speaker 4: No, I mean, I'll go visit Ryan day just because
- 46:22Speaker 4: it'll help me the rest of the year.
- 46:23Speaker 5: Ohio state fans love having a win, but is there
- 46:26Speaker 5: anybody that outside of an Ohio state or a Kent
- 46:29Speaker 5: state fan that wants to go into a game knowing
- 46:32Speaker 5: it is going to be a massacre?
- 46:33Speaker 1: They've, if I was the Fox folks, I would get
- 46:37Speaker 1: off the fact of having to have cladding Gus in
- 46:39Speaker 1: that big new kickoff game. And at this, at least
- 46:41Speaker 1: this part of the year, I would send them Friday
- 46:44Speaker 1: night to the Houston, Texas tech game.
- 46:45Speaker 4: And I wouldn't think twice about it.
- 46:47Speaker 6: Or I would have sent them overseas.
- 46:48Speaker 5: Like if we're going to do this London game, Arizona state, Kansas,
- 46:52Speaker 5: at least that's a fun game in the big 12.
- 46:54Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 46:56Speaker 6: I mean, I know it's a Big Ten tie-in, but, like,
- 46:58Speaker 6: Fox has got that.
- 46:59Speaker 4: They do have it, yeah. Why not just throw it?
- 47:00Speaker 6: Hey, it's an off week. We all get it. We
- 47:02Speaker 6: don't want to see Kent State, Ohio State anyway.
- 47:03Speaker 4: They're sending their pregame show over there. They're live from
- 47:07Speaker 4: the Union Jack Classic, which we've got a name for it.
- 47:09Speaker 5: I mean, how much are they giving up in NIL?
- 47:12Speaker 5: That's got to be an NIL thing.
- 47:13Speaker 4: I can't believe you're doing it midseason. This is just
- 47:16Speaker 4: a terrible idea. But, Jim, I mean, to your point, Like,
- 47:21Speaker 4: week one was not good. This week felt a little
- 47:23Speaker 4: bit better. I mean, there were good games this week.
- 47:25Speaker 4: It was an entertaining week.
- 47:26Speaker 1: I told you, now, one of them, I forget what
- 47:29Speaker 1: one of them was. One of them was South Alabama-Tulane.
- 47:33Speaker 1: One of them was Jack State-Ohio, Jack State-Ohio. But I
- 47:37Speaker 1: had a big game, and I had two quad boxes.
- 47:40Speaker 1: I had nine games I was truthfully interested in prime
- 47:43Speaker 1: time yesterday.
- 47:44Speaker 4: The only blowout I had on for an extended period
- 47:46Speaker 4: of time, well, Auburn and Southern Miss, if I remember.
- 47:49Speaker 4: But in any other situation, I'm not watching that game.
- 47:52Speaker 4: The only other blowout I had was Texas-Ohio State. That
- 47:55Speaker 4: was the one game I was like, this is the
- 47:57Speaker 4: only blowout I've really had to watch today. Everything else,
- 47:59Speaker 4: I got close games in just about every window.
- 48:02Speaker 5: To me, the schedule was better last week than it
- 48:04Speaker 5: is this coming weekend. Now we might end up having
- 48:06Speaker 5: a great weekend.
- 48:07Speaker 7: No, no, no.
- 48:07Speaker 4: I mean, we take another step back, but a lot
- 48:09Speaker 4: of that is because of what Jim's talking about. Ohio
- 48:12Speaker 4: State's playing Kent State. I mean, your Big Ten games
- 48:15Speaker 4: this week are just– Akron and Minnesota. You're off the.
- 48:19Speaker 1: Radar for two or three weekends a year. You're off
- 48:22Speaker 1: the radar. Wisconsin's playing Eastern Michigan. Akron is playing, Minnesota
- 48:26Speaker 1: is playing Akron. Indiana is playing Western Kentucky. Iowa's playing
- 48:32Speaker 1: Northern Iowa. The Big Ten Network shouldn't even turn on
- 48:34Speaker 1: the lights this week.
- 48:35Speaker 4: I mean, it's just awful. Nebraska's playing North Dakota. Washington's
- 48:38Speaker 4: playing Eastern Washington. At least Michigan State and Notre Dame
- 48:41Speaker 4: are playing. I don't know how good a game it'll.
- 48:43Speaker 7: Be, but.
- 48:44Speaker 1: I mean, we finally get a Big Ten game. We
- 48:46Speaker 1: get Purdue and UCLA playing each other late night on
- 48:48Speaker 1: the Big Ten Network. That'll be an entertaining football game.
- 48:52Speaker 1: Wake Forest-Purdue was a fun game.
- 48:54Speaker 4: I mean, yeah. I mean, I hate the fact that
- 48:57Speaker 4: we're planting the flag at Purdue playing at UCLA. UCLA's
- 49:01Speaker 4: a pretty good team. They've been fun to watch, all
- 49:03Speaker 4: those resources and the khakis and polos. I will say this.
- 49:07Speaker 4: I mean, Chesney's had them play well for two straight
- 49:09Speaker 4: games now. That was a pretty... Pretty dominant win.
- 49:12Speaker 6: And they'll beat Purdue.
- 49:13Speaker 5: Purdue might play them within the two touchdowns, but they'll
- 49:16Speaker 5: be 3-0.
- 49:17Speaker 4: Now, that was my upset alert, so it was 0-0.
- 49:20Speaker 4: at the half.
- 49:20Speaker 12: It was.
- 49:21Speaker 4: Second half. All khakis and polos, second half. Well, I
- 49:24Speaker 4: thought to myself, well, got it to the half. Nobody's behind.
- 49:26Speaker 4: Nobody's ahead.
- 49:27Speaker 3: 0-0.
- 49:27Speaker 4: Couldn't have drawn it up better.
- 49:29Speaker 6: I got it a little to the half, tied up BYU.
- 49:31Speaker 4: So those second halves matter.
- 49:34Speaker 1: I think it was a 10-10 game late. And then
- 49:37Speaker 1: San Diego State, this is why it's so hard to gamble.
- 49:41Speaker 1: San Diego State gets a backdoor cover with two minutes
- 49:44Speaker 1: and 20 seconds left. 11 and a half was the
- 49:47Speaker 1: point spread. 11, that cuts it to 11. Well, you're
- 49:50Speaker 1: trying to win the game. You don't know that little
- 49:53Speaker 1: Jimmy back in Birmingham, Alabama may have a little hard rock.
- 49:56Speaker 4: Yeah, we need you. A little hard rock money. We
- 49:58Speaker 4: need you.
- 49:59Speaker 1: Inside that 11 and a half. So, obviously, you come
- 50:01Speaker 1: out and you kick an onside kick, right?
- 50:02Speaker 10: Yep.
- 50:04Speaker 1: You got to at least tackle the guy at that point.
- 50:06Speaker 1: Because all Chessie's going to do is get it. He's
- 50:08Speaker 1: going to run one play. get it to the two-minute warning,
- 50:12Speaker 1: and then one first down, and then he's kneeling it out.
- 50:15Speaker 1: Off tackle, virtually untouched for a touchdown on the first play.
- 50:18Speaker 4: Yeah, those are tough. And you're sitting there going, why
- 50:21Speaker 4: do I even do this?
- 50:23Speaker 5: There were two coaches that I cussed more, and they
- 50:25Speaker 5: both covered for me. But it was Dan Quinn who's
- 50:28Speaker 5: got to flip his hat around. He's too bad of
- 50:30Speaker 5: a coach to be an old man like that and
- 50:33Speaker 5: have his hat turned backwards the entire game. Cussed him
- 50:35Speaker 5: like a dog. They ended up giving the cover, and
- 50:38Speaker 5: then Charles Kelly at Jacksonville State.
- 50:40Speaker 4: Terrible play, Kelly. Jack State's offensive play. He's going to
- 50:42Speaker 4: run that program in the ground. Awful offensive play calling
- 50:45Speaker 4: at Ohio. And we've got to change the overtime. We
- 50:49Speaker 4: say this every year when we get these four overtimes,
- 50:52Speaker 4: five overtimes, six overtimes.
- 50:53Speaker 5: Oh, I loved it when we got there because I
- 50:55Speaker 5: was catching three with Jack State. Once you get to
- 50:58Speaker 5: that third overtime, you can't lose more than two. I
- 51:00Speaker 5: guess you could have a pick.
- 51:03Speaker 6: That would be a four-point game. That would have been
- 51:04Speaker 6: a tough way to lose.
- 51:05Speaker 4: That would have been a tough way to lose. But
- 51:06Speaker 4: I saw something there that I had not seen very often.
- 51:10Speaker 4: And I can't imagine people were watching Jack State, Ohio,
- 51:12Speaker 4: but I guess some of you were. At the end
- 51:16Speaker 4: of one of the overtimes, you had a personal foul.
- 51:19Speaker 4: And it was still in the fulfilled overtime, right? So
- 51:22Speaker 4: they decided to penalize Ohio. Do you have the choice?
- 51:26Speaker 4: Can you... do you have so ohio had the ball
- 51:29Speaker 4: first in the second overtime right so you get a
- 51:32Speaker 4: dead ball personal foul after the first overtime but i thought.
- 51:34Speaker 6: They tacked it on jack state when they got the ball.
- 51:39Speaker 4: But the jack state got the ball second that's what
- 51:40Speaker 4: i'm saying but i thought.
- 51:41Speaker 6: They added the 15 onto.
- 51:43Speaker 4: That no no the personal foul was on ohio no
- 51:46Speaker 4: i know that yeah yeah you're saying they took 15
- 51:48Speaker 4: off yeah that's what i'm saying do you have the
- 51:50Speaker 4: choice i guess right you got the choice i can
- 51:52Speaker 4: either start ohio or At the, what would be the 40?
- 51:55Speaker 4: Because if you didn't see, it was.
- 51:56Speaker 6: A block kick.
- 51:57Speaker 4: Right.
- 51:58Speaker 6: And then Jack State's picking it up, running it back,
- 52:00Speaker 6: and he gets horse collared.
- 52:01Speaker 4: He gets horse collared. So it's a 15-yard dead ball.
- 52:03Speaker 4: Or it's not necessarily dead ball, but there's no other
- 52:05Speaker 4: way to administer it. My question is, do you have
- 52:07Speaker 4: the choice? Can I make the other team start on
- 52:09Speaker 4: the 40, or I get to choose to start on
- 52:11Speaker 4: the 10? I don't know which one you would do.
- 52:13Speaker 4: Almost like a penalty where I'll take it on the kickoff.
- 52:15Speaker 4: That's right.
- 52:15Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 52:16Speaker 1: Well, let's text our buddy Steve Shaw. I'll find out,
- 52:18Speaker 1: because I've never seen that. We'll see if we can
- 52:20Speaker 1: get an answer coming up on the other side. And
- 52:22Speaker 1: what's even worse is if you're to the two-point conversion part,
- 52:25Speaker 1: how does that administer there? It's one play from the
- 52:28Speaker 1: 17 at that point.
- 52:29Speaker 4: That's right, and I'm definitely going to take that.
- 52:31Speaker 1: I would like to know that too, but it's just
- 52:33Speaker 1: a crappy way to decide the game, going to that
- 52:35Speaker 1: two-point conversion.
- 52:37Speaker 4: I don't like that.
- 52:37Speaker 1: All right, getting ready for a big week of leading
- 52:40Speaker 1: into more SEC games and the big one in Oxford.
- 52:45Speaker 1: There will be a lot of talk about LSU Ole Miss.
- 52:47Speaker 1: Game day will be there and all that. I would
- 52:50Speaker 1: just say I hope everybody keeps there's fights every weekend.
- 52:53Speaker 1: We've got a thousand. Everybody's got a camera in their hand.
- 52:56Speaker 1: So we see a fight from every sporting event every weekend,
- 52:59Speaker 1: whether it's two girls that are tailgate or whether it's
- 53:01Speaker 1: an NFL fans in the stands.
- 53:04Speaker 4: So there's going to be fights. But I just hope
- 53:05Speaker 4: we're all very reasonable in Oxford this weekend.
- 53:08Speaker 6: Dude, Seahawks fans were trying to throw a guy off
- 53:11Speaker 6: the upper set.
- 53:11Speaker 4: Oh, I saw that. That was crazy. Yeah, you're right.
- 53:14Speaker 5: But it's going to be impossible, Dunaway. I mean, there
- 53:16Speaker 5: are going to be so many confrontations. If I was
- 53:19Speaker 5: an LSU fan, I would not be comfortable going there.
- 53:21Speaker 4: I don't think I'd go either.
- 53:23Speaker 1: LSU Ole Miss, it'll be the talk of the country
- 53:25Speaker 1: game days here this week. It's Kiffin back in Oxford.
- 53:29Speaker 1: It is going to be something else. We'll continue the
- 53:33Speaker 1: recap of week number two of college football, week one
- 53:36Speaker 1: of the NFL when we come back on the next
- 53:39Speaker 1: round platform.
- 53:40Speaker 4: Buck and Clay are next right here on Sporting State.
