When wildfires devastated Spokane this summer, a heartwarming wave of support surged from over 300 miles away in Butte, Montana. Crystal Mjelde and her family launched “Butte Supports Spokane,” collecting everything from diapers to cleaning supplies — fueled by the fact that her husband works for Butte’s fire department and saw firsthand how many homes were lost, including those of firefighters. In just two weeks, local businesses rallied, donating nearly seven and a half tons of goods — so much that Crystal had to turn some away. Even when items couldn’t go to Spokane, they found new homes…
