  Anyways, like I said earlier this week, Halloween is like not

  that big of a deal in Australia. Although Alex and I are going to

  a Halloween event tonight for Snapchat.

  But I think that's because like Snapchat's an American company.

  Like there are some like corporate festivities, but for
• 0:50
  the most part it is like nothing like North America, like nothing
• 0:55
  like Canada where I grew up. But, you know, I just wanted to

  be like slightly festive. All right, let's just get into

  the stories for today. So the first story that I have

  is that Jeffrey Star has confirmed that he will be

  recording a podcast episode with Tricia Paytas this Friday.

  So there is nothing else to really say about this.

  This is an offshoot of yesterday's story where he

  recorded cancelled with Tana and Brooke.

  And then Tano teased that like something was going to come with

  Jeffrey and Tricia. And he can confirmed in an

  Instagram Live that he is recording just Trish, I guess

  this Friday. And I did say yesterday, let us

  know if you want like a full recap on everything that

  happened between Shane Dawson, Jeffrey Star and Trish Paytas

  and that dissolution of like that threesome friendship.

  And a lot of you guys said you did.

  The next story that I have for you guys is that Brianna Chicken

  Fry has addressed her friendship with Grace O'Malley amid a

  rumored rift. So there have been rumors all

  over TikTok that Bree and Grace had some type of falling out.

  It mostly started two weeks ago after the episode of the Plan

  Bree podcast where Bree basically victim blamed Grace
• 2:21
  for being sexually assaulted at 16.

  Anyways, I covered that saga a couple of weeks ago, so go back

  and listen to that episode if you don't know what I'm talking

  about. But yes, people were not happy

  with that clip, of course. And speculation really escalated

  about like something going on in their friendship this week when

  it was Grace's birthday and Bree did not wish her a happy

  birthday publicly. And people thought that was
• 2:46
  weird because, I mean, they have a public friendship.

  Like, they're kind of famous, not like, as a pair, but like,
• 2:52
  kind of, you know, that's like, part of both of their brands is
• 2:55
  their friendship with each other.

  Plus, in years past, Brianna has posted on her grid for Grace's

  birthday and written, like, really beautiful captions about
• 3:05
  her and stuff like that. So like, we got none of that
• 3:07
  this year. And then Grace made a TikTok on

  the night of her birthday or birthday party and I'll play the

  clip. Birthdays can.

  Sometimes, you know, let you down and disappoint you, but you

  got to remember the people who show up for you and love you and

  give you another but good, good vibes on your on your on your

  day of birth, because that's your that's your special day.

  And you get it once a year. So it kind of sounds like she's

  maybe not super happy with some people in her life and how they,

  you know, interacted with her on her birthday or did or did not

  celebrate her birthday. So people were like, OK, this

  has to be about Brianna. But now Brianna has responded on

  an Instagram story today, she wrote.

  I haven't had TikTok in months, but apparently all anyone does

  on there is talk about my life. So here you go.

  I'm not interested in sharing my personal relationships online

  anymore because the Internet wants so badly to ruin them all.

  Grace has been like a sister since I was 15 years old.

  I wished her a happy birthday privately.

  I'm sorry but I'm having a week from hell and I'm tired of

  having to feel the need to explain myself to people who

  don't know me. She continued not allowing the

  Internet to take over my personal relationships anymore.

  Need to set some boundaries and keep some things to myself.

  I actually wanted to address the very first thing she said, which

  is like everyone on TikTok won't stop talking about her because

  unpopular opinion, but I'm going to agree with that.

  She is like as somebody who covers Internet culture, covers

  creators, you know, anytime we cover Brianna in any capacity,

  it could be on TikTok, it could be on this podcast.

  Before, when we really prioritize writing news on the

  site, it could have been on our site.

  Traffic, views, clicks through the roof.
• 4:50
  People are very interested in what Brianna does.

  And I mean, she's a very polarizing figure.

  So I think that's part of it. But yeah, it is actually true.

  Like I, I agree with that, that there is constantly a lot of

  discussion about her online and it does get a lot of views.

  I think when it comes to this particular situation, Brianna

  has told us that she was going to be mostly offline.

  So I don't think it's that confusing that she didn't wish

  Grace a happy birthday, although I understand and she was posting

  and she has been kind of posting here and there with her friends

  in Maine. So yes, it is kind of weird she

  didn't put up even maybe like an Instagram story, but I don't

  know. And I know there are so many
• 5:31
  people that are fans of Grace and they really want her to like
• 5:35
  cut Brie off. But to that, you know, I say,

  like, regardless of how you feel about Brianna and how she treats
• 5:41
  Grace or how you feel like she treats Grace because we don't
• 5:44
  know, you know, we don't really know.

  We see the very, very small snippets of what they share
• 5:51
  publicly on their podcast and on social media, but we don't
• 5:54
  actually know. I liken it to like some of my
• 5:57
  oldest friendships and I think about how like I have way more

  patience for those people than I probably would for newer people

  in my life. And I don't know if that's good

  or bad, but it's just the truth. Like I can think about some of

  the friends that I've had for most of my life, similar to Bri

  and Grace and yeah, like they could treat me a lot worse than

  some of my newer friends and I would tolerate it.

  So if a big if, again, because we don't actually know, but if

  we feel like Brianna is not a great friend to Grace and we're

  like, why does she keep her in her life?

  You know, there's like this big culture on TikTok or just like
• 6:37
  in general right now, I would say, but I think it's

  perpetuated a lot by like conversations on TikTok about
• 6:42
  like cutting people out and you know, like not having time for
• 6:46
  things that don't serve you. But I just don't think that's
• 6:49
  like really how we interact with the world.

  Like that's not really reality, you know, like if you are going
• 6:54
  to like absolutely cut everyone out of your life who like
• 6:58
  slightly wrongs you or who is disrespectful to you or doesn't

  like kind of prioritize you in the way you feel you should be

  prioritized. I don't know if a lot of us
• 7:07
  would have a lot of people left. So I think there's extreme cases

  and I again, I don't know their friendship and I do think that
• 7:16
  the people that wish that Grace would cut Brianna off, like I
• 7:20
  think they have graces best interest at heart.

  And I agree, like the victim blaming and just like a lot of
• 7:26
  the things we've seen from their friendship has seemed very
• 7:30
  damaging and toxic. But like, again, we don't really
• 7:33
  know. Grace might just have more time
• 7:36
  and more patience and more tolerance for Brianna than she
• 7:40
  would for someone else in her life just because of their
• 7:43
  history. And sometimes that's just like
• 7:45
  what it comes down to. All right.

  And the last story that I have for you guys, it was a bit of a

  light day on news. YouTube is reportedly testing a
• 7:54
  new home page with dates and view counts removed.

  So this is according to Vid IQ. There have been screenshots

  circulating of people's YouTube home pages that are void of
• 8:07
  these two metrics. And a lot of people are really
• 8:10
  not happy with this. And this is something that
• 8:12
  YouTube seems to do. They do seem to test like
• 8:15
  different features here and there for certain users or in
• 8:17
  certain markets. So people thought it was maybe
• 8:19
  like this is what we were seeing was like a very low key test of
• 8:23
  this. So I wanted to read some
• 8:25
  comments from people on, I believe it was Twitter that this
• 8:28
  comes from When Vid IQ tweeted this out, someone wrote view
• 8:32
  counts and dates matter in selecting between videos on the
• 8:35
  same topic. I get from a product perspective
• 8:38
  what they're trying to do, but this isn't better for viewers or
• 8:41
  creators. Another wrote, view counts I
• 8:43
  kind of get, but dates, having a more recent video on a topic is
• 8:47
  really important a lot of the time.

  And one other person wrote, I don't like that I want to see
• 8:53
  how old a video is. View count doesn't bother me,
• 8:56
  but if I'm looking for up to date information on something, I
• 8:59
  don't want a six year old video, you know?

  And I think when you consider not just like up to date
• 9:03
  information, but also just like from an ethical perspective.

  So I know that a lot of people, for example, have been getting
• 9:10
  One Direction videos recommended to them because of Liam Payne's
• 9:14
  death or like his own personal YouTube videos.

  And there are a lot of videos that are popping up on people's
• 9:21
  home pages. And that could be ethically,
• 9:24
  first of all, it's just like confusing and hurtful.

  But also there's just like this ethical implication, this like
• 9:30
  question around, you know, a video of Liam Payne popping up
• 9:34
  and having no context of like when this was recorded.

  I think it's really important to have a record of that.

  I mean, we talked about preserving Internet history and
• 9:44
  archives last week with the Wayback Machine and everything
• 9:47
  that they went through with their hackers.

  And this is an example of that. Like we need to have access to
• 9:52
  the dates and like a lot of platforms are making it harder
• 9:56
  and harder to see the dates in general on YouTube.

  Now there's, I don't remember if it's on mobile or if it's on

  desktop, you have to like specifically click in to see the
• 10:06
  date. Also on Reddit as well, like you
• 10:08
  have to actually hover over top of the message to see the date.

  It will say like sometimes six days ago, one week ago, but it
• 10:15
  won't tell you the exact date. So there's already like
• 10:18
  ambiguity around this and I just think it's wrong.

  However, Team YouTube tweeted at Dexterdo so they are like a

  publication and they covered this and they wrote jumping in
• 10:31
  here to clarify that this may happen if viewers are watching
• 10:34
  YouTube with certain browser extensions enabled.

  If they disable extensions and still encounter this homepage
• 10:40
  experience, they can submit a report here and will
• 10:43
  investigate. So it doesn't seem like it's
• 10:45
  necessarily coming from YouTube based on this tweet.

  It seems like it's more so like different extensions are either
• 10:52
  impacting it, like altering it, or maybe those extensions are
• 10:57
  testing different types, like different styles and features.
