- 0:02Speaker 1: Here's the mail It never fails. It makes me want
- 0:05Speaker 1: to wag my tail. Everybody once, so well, mail are
- 0:09Speaker 1: we going to do that? I just did? Forgive me, mother,
- 0:19Speaker 1: for I have sinned. It's been thirty three years since
- 0:22Speaker 1: my last confession, which I guess is implying that I
- 0:24Speaker 1: confessed in the womb. Yeah, of course we all do spiritually.
- 0:28Speaker 1: And I've been a bad bad girl. That a very
- 0:33Speaker 1: bad girl. Tell me, my daughter, what do you have
- 0:38Speaker 1: on your heart? An a cup? Like a small b
- 0:43Speaker 1: This is so hard to say. I didn't prepare a
- 0:48Speaker 1: topic for this podcast episode, and I need how heavy
- 0:53Speaker 1: eart the breasts that whole of this, this burden my daughter.
- 0:58Speaker 1: I'm I'm so sorry that you are carrying this weight,
- 1:01Speaker 1: and um, I'm here to help you. It's okay. I'm
- 1:05Speaker 1: wearing a skims bra. Wow, how how interesting my daughter,
- 1:10Speaker 1: I too, am wearing a floor length skims down. Um.
- 1:14Speaker 1: The only solution really is for you to do I
- 1:19Speaker 1: don't know five to ten suggestions from our mail bag
- 1:25Speaker 1: from a come down are we're not calling it okay,
- 1:30Speaker 1: I'm breaking on breaking character. We are calling it that
- 1:33Speaker 1: come down. This is like a virgin of the show
- 1:35Speaker 1: where we take loads. No, it's not. You know, we
- 1:40Speaker 1: felt like it would be nice to change up the
- 1:42Speaker 1: format of today's episode. We have gotten tons of suggestions
- 1:45Speaker 1: by way of our voicemail on what episode topics we
- 1:50Speaker 1: could potentially take on a k A. We saw some
- 1:53Speaker 1: of the topics in the air table that are amazing.
- 1:56Speaker 1: Producer Phoebe put together and said, that's a dumb idea,
- 1:59Speaker 1: but we can tell talk about it for like thirty seconds. No. Um, well,
- 2:04Speaker 1: but we love you listeners. That's it. There we go.
- 2:07Speaker 1: We always like to end on a high note. There, yes, um,
- 2:10Speaker 1: so let's start listening to some of these calls and
- 2:13Speaker 1: giving you our live, horny reactions by love. Okay, but
- 2:19Speaker 1: before we get there, we we we have to you know,
- 2:22Speaker 1: go through today's like internet garbage and news. Right, but
- 2:24Speaker 1: I'm so horny, So you know, rose, Um, we are
- 2:35Speaker 1: recording the day after the Oscars, and you know, there
- 2:39Speaker 1: there's something that happened that I feel like it's at
- 2:43Speaker 1: the forefront of everyone's brains right now. Um, something really controversial,
- 2:47Speaker 1: which is that you know, like the Chrispians are, we're
- 2:50Speaker 1: in mourning right now. It's it's it's a huge loss
- 2:52Speaker 1: for the community. Ye as it turns out there's not
- 2:55Speaker 1: a possibility. I feel like, okay, was she spected to
- 3:00Speaker 1: win or was it kind of a toss up between
- 3:02Speaker 1: her and Jessica. I think last fall into the Holidays,
- 3:08Speaker 1: people were like, Kristen's winning the oscar, and then as
- 3:12Speaker 1: we entered two, people started realizing, like, that's probably not
- 3:16Speaker 1: gonna happen. Yeah, I did not think it was going
- 3:18Speaker 1: to be Jessica, and I saw eyes of Tammy Faye.
- 3:22Speaker 1: Really liked her performance, and even though like I don't
- 3:24Speaker 1: have much of a frame of reference for Tammy Faye Baker,
- 3:28Speaker 1: the movie was fine. I think it could have been
- 3:31Speaker 1: sharper and funnier, maybe a little meaner, but you know,
- 3:34Speaker 1: people love that kind of transformational role. So similarly, I
- 3:39Speaker 1: adored Jessica in the movie. I thought her encapsulation of
- 3:43Speaker 1: the character was like NonStop fun to watch. I agree
- 3:47Speaker 1: that like the movie, Like, I don't know why we
- 3:50Speaker 1: needed such a sympathetic kind of portrayal of her, Like
- 3:53Speaker 1: I would have loved to see her couplicity in this
- 3:55Speaker 1: situation because clearly, like there's no way there was all
- 3:58Speaker 1: this like kind of like money laundering and like for
- 4:00Speaker 1: going on like she gets off Scott Free, you know
- 4:01Speaker 1: what I mean? Yeah, there were some rose colored glasses
- 4:05Speaker 1: like you know what, Jessica. I guess she's like one
- 4:09Speaker 1: of the girls who had to win at some point.
- 4:11Speaker 1: So this is probably the movie that it makes the
- 4:14Speaker 1: most sense for her to win for, especially since he
- 4:16Speaker 1: was she was so invested in it. She's been investing
- 4:18Speaker 1: in Tammy Face story for like, isn't almost like ten
- 4:21Speaker 1: years or something like She's she bought the rights in
- 4:24Speaker 1: I think, But listen, my main issue with Jessica is
- 4:28Speaker 1: that I don't know why the dress she wore for
- 4:32Speaker 1: the Vandy Fair party was not the dress that she
- 4:34Speaker 1: wore for the Red Carpet, And this was kind of
- 4:36Speaker 1: an issue all around. The Red carpet looks for the
- 4:40Speaker 1: Oscars were bad, They're boring out, and the and the
- 4:44Speaker 1: Vanity Fair party looks were incredible. My best dress of
- 4:49Speaker 1: the night Dako to Johnson, Really to Johnson and Gucci.
- 4:52Speaker 1: Oh my god, I didn't even see it is immaculate.
- 4:58Speaker 1: My note about the Red car it is Jessica Chastain
- 5:01Speaker 1: and Nicole Kidman both should have sported the draggy blocked
- 5:05Speaker 1: brows of the characters that they played for the ass
- 5:08Speaker 1: they should have done earlier. James Charlis No, yeah, full divine,
- 5:12Speaker 1: just like drawn on blocked Elmer's blued down brows. Also,
- 5:16Speaker 1: Hunter Shaffer's Rick Owens dress was really great and she
- 5:20Speaker 1: was styled very well as well. Hunter Shaver was definitely
- 5:24Speaker 1: maybe my best dressed for the night as well. I
- 5:27Speaker 1: loved Maggie gillen Hall. I did like her Scarelli Yeah,
- 5:32Speaker 1: this hangar. I love all like Scaparelli, like gold, like
- 5:36Speaker 1: you know, embellishments whatever. I thought Timmy was worth the hype.
- 5:40Speaker 1: I thought like people were freaking out about it, and
- 5:41Speaker 1: I thought he looked great. I kind of agreed. Also
- 5:44Speaker 1: loved Codie Smith McPhee and that like baby blue Botega suit.
- 5:48Speaker 1: So I guess we do have to address the slap
- 5:52Speaker 1: herd round the world. Well. Actually, Jada also was best
- 5:55Speaker 1: dressed for the night for me. I thought she looked.
- 5:57Speaker 1: I thought she looked. I loved her dress. I loved
- 6:00Speaker 1: the color of it, and I loved the sense of
- 6:02Speaker 1: drama that I did not love the specifics of the
- 6:06Speaker 1: drafts um. I was on a plane when the slap
- 6:09Speaker 1: heard around the world. Have you landed to it. I
- 6:13Speaker 1: landed and it had happened like two hours ago. I
- 6:15Speaker 1: can't believe you didn't pay for internet. I mean, I
- 6:18Speaker 1: love not having the internet on a plane. You pay
- 6:20Speaker 1: for in planes all the time. I do when I
- 6:22Speaker 1: need to work. Yeah, yeah, yeah, but this was one
- 6:24Speaker 1: of those nights where, you know, I'm kind of I
- 6:28Speaker 1: was very it was a very manic night on the internet,
- 6:31Speaker 1: and this is we're coming to Monday evening. Today on
- 6:34Speaker 1: the internet has also been horrible. You know what, I
- 6:37Speaker 1: think celebrities should go away for a while. Yeah, I
- 6:40Speaker 1: think my My thing is just like sometimes especially with
- 6:44Speaker 1: things like this, it's like sometimes this is an intracommunal
- 6:48Speaker 1: conversation and like I don't know if I new just
- 6:50Speaker 1: see these like white entertainment bloggers, like you know, making
- 6:53Speaker 1: memes out of like what's happening right now? Sure, but
- 6:56Speaker 1: it was such it's like a such a like this
- 6:59Speaker 1: will never happen on live television. I just can't. I
- 7:02Speaker 1: can't believe we are living through this. Yeah. Um, and
- 7:06Speaker 1: it was a little hot anyway. Anyway, moving on from
- 7:09Speaker 1: the oscars, because I'm sure by the time that's coming out,
- 7:11Speaker 1: everyone is sick of talking about it. You know, It's
- 7:13Speaker 1: one thing I'm not sick of talking about is the
- 7:15Speaker 1: Guilded Age, Which is funny because I pretty much never
- 7:18Speaker 1: talked about it during the whole run of the show
- 7:21Speaker 1: because we record on Monday's, usually Monday mornings, and the
- 7:24Speaker 1: Gilded Age famously happens on Monday night. Famously. Um, it's
- 7:29Speaker 1: a Monday night slot that's dark. Yeah, So I kind
- 7:32Speaker 1: of never remembered to talk about it because you know,
- 7:35Speaker 1: the new episode wasn't coming until that night. The previous
- 7:38Speaker 1: episode had happened a full week before. But this past
- 7:42Speaker 1: week the season finale of The Gilded Age aired, and
- 7:46Speaker 1: I have to tell you, almost nothing happened all Stephen Stas.
- 7:50Speaker 1: The stakes are so low. But I have not enjoyed
- 7:54Speaker 1: a TV show that much in such a long time.
- 7:56Speaker 1: I was in Guerrilla Grip of the Girls, the Girl's
- 8:00Speaker 1: Gaze and maybe They's of the Guilt. It was a
- 8:04Speaker 1: stunning season of television that also was bad. Um the
- 8:09Speaker 1: lead of the show. Who is Meryl Streep's daughter, worst
- 8:12Speaker 1: actress on television? Um? But you know, beautiful gown Meryl
- 8:17Speaker 1: Streep's daughter, Meryl streeps daughter, she is so wooden and
- 8:22Speaker 1: there is no light behind her eyes. Um so, but
- 8:25Speaker 1: you enjoyed the serious question. The show was so good,
- 8:29Speaker 1: but it's but what do you mean by good? Because
- 8:31Speaker 1: everything you said before that doesn't sound a beautiful period
- 8:35Speaker 1: costume drama of people having indecipherable tension with each other.
- 8:41Speaker 1: Um it gets a lot of things wrong, Like you know,
- 8:43Speaker 1: it's by Julian Fellows who created Downton Abbey, and you
- 8:49Speaker 1: know it was really effective on Downton Abbey was that
- 8:51Speaker 1: it was this period drama that was about the above
- 8:54Speaker 1: and below of a big aristocratic house and the guilded ages,
- 8:59Speaker 1: not that like they kind of flirted with giving the
- 9:02Speaker 1: servants some storylines, but they were always like, that's forward.
- 9:06Speaker 1: I want to get back to the rich people, you
- 9:08Speaker 1: know what, like tried to talk about like new money
- 9:10Speaker 1: and class and race and like to to to varying
- 9:12Speaker 1: levels of success. But I really loved the whole thing.
- 9:16Speaker 1: I'm so excited there's going to be a season two.
- 9:19Speaker 1: There is, yes, in season two. I need more sex.
- 9:22Speaker 1: I need like a thousand percent more sex. There's a
- 9:26Speaker 1: gay character on it. I need him to be horn here.
- 9:28Speaker 1: I need more gays. I need Christine Baranski to maybe
- 9:32Speaker 1: where Eyeliner. I've heard that the gay character is like
- 9:34Speaker 1: aggressively boring. Honestly, I haven't seen it, but like Christine
- 9:38Speaker 1: Baranski is probably gayer than this character, you know, yeah,
- 9:41Speaker 1: in a way, in a way, Um, but I thirt
- 9:43Speaker 1: I definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to watch.
- 9:46Speaker 1: I definitely won't watch, but I support you. Um. Speaking
- 9:51Speaker 1: of shows where nothing happened, we have yet another episode
- 9:54Speaker 1: of drag Race where no one was eliminated. I'm I'm
- 9:57Speaker 1: currently opening the window so I can ump out of it.
- 10:01Speaker 1: When it happened, I laughed at because I was thinking
- 10:05Speaker 1: of you just tearing furniture up, and I was ripping
- 10:10Speaker 1: the wall paper on. I was in my mother's house
- 10:12Speaker 1: in Florida, just I was like, I don't live here.
- 10:14Speaker 1: I'm destroying everything. I you know. I will say this
- 10:19Speaker 1: was the one elimination where I was kind of okay
- 10:23Speaker 1: with their being the chocolate bar. I thought it was
- 10:25Speaker 1: the perfect person to get the golden ticket. But at
- 10:27Speaker 1: the same time, we are fifty episodes into this season
- 10:32Speaker 1: and two girls have been eliminated, and you know, I
- 10:36Speaker 1: felt this episode was like actually kind of juicy and complex,
- 10:40Speaker 1: Like I didn't really understand a lot of what the
- 10:43Speaker 1: judges were doing. Like I really felt willow Hill, like
- 10:46Speaker 1: one the episode, you know, with the Green Fairy, I
- 10:49Speaker 1: thought Camden was amazing, but I was like, willow Hill
- 10:51Speaker 1: won that. But I think they tried to say like
- 10:54Speaker 1: that Willows like runway performance wasn't up to part. But like,
- 10:58Speaker 1: here's the thing, and I feel like you will agree
- 11:00Speaker 1: or have some sort of take on this. I need
- 11:03Speaker 1: the judges to just say the runway matters or it
- 11:06Speaker 1: doesn't matter. And it really differs from week to week,
- 11:09Speaker 1: and I think it also kind of matters depending on
- 11:12Speaker 1: like the producing of the storyline. It is infuriating they
- 11:16Speaker 1: do it when it's convenient for them, and I hate
- 11:19Speaker 1: that and I just wish that there was like a
- 11:21Speaker 1: separate evaluation. I want to see the scorecards. I want
- 11:25Speaker 1: I because I don't believe that there are and I
- 11:27Speaker 1: want to see the fucking scorecards. And here's the other thing.
- 11:31Speaker 1: Is like if I was a producer on the show,
- 11:33Speaker 1: I'd be like, you know what, we just need. Every
- 11:35Speaker 1: week there is like a Runway winner and it's like, congratulations,
- 11:40Speaker 1: lady Camden, you won the Runway, and that means absolutely
- 11:44Speaker 1: nothing like that would actually be really funny, you know,
- 11:47Speaker 1: but we know you won the runway, but it doesn't matter,
- 11:49Speaker 1: you know. I agree that Willow should have won based
- 11:52Speaker 1: on the challenge because Lady Camden's win felt much more
- 11:56Speaker 1: like the end result of the drama between the Queen
- 12:00Speaker 1: rather than the actual performance that was happening on stage.
- 12:03Speaker 1: Like it was very narratively satisfying with everything that happened
- 12:07Speaker 1: to her in Bosco, but what Willow did in the
- 12:10Speaker 1: rucicle was so much better. What's most important to take
- 12:15Speaker 1: away from this episode is that our girl George's has
- 12:19Speaker 1: come out in solidarity against theater faggots hates musical theater gays.
- 12:26Speaker 1: Did you not love? I thought that was so fun.
- 12:29Speaker 1: It was funny, but I was also just too distracted
- 12:31Speaker 1: by wanting to throw Deja out the window as well
- 12:35Speaker 1: because of that fucking look. She's a seamstress and she
- 12:39Speaker 1: has not looked good once on the right line. Not well. Actually,
- 12:42Speaker 1: I thought the shoulder pads look was like, fine, which
- 12:45Speaker 1: shoulder pads look? The one because for the shoulder because
- 12:49Speaker 1: every episode has been a shoulder pads look for the
- 12:51Speaker 1: shoulder pads challenge, which I actually felt like she should
- 12:54Speaker 1: have won, but it wasn't It still wasn't that good.
- 12:56Speaker 1: You know, all of her looks made me want to
- 12:59Speaker 1: called better, help help me exactly. Um, just kind of
- 13:06Speaker 1: putting putting the shitty little cherry on top of this
- 13:09Speaker 1: like garbage dump of a newsweek. Um. We didn't talk
- 13:13Speaker 1: about or text about the fact that Putin defended J. K.
- 13:18Speaker 1: Rowling very publicly. I've been trying to not engage with it.
- 13:25Speaker 1: But it is funny how it kind of forced her hand,
- 13:32Speaker 1: but like she did not really like let herself be forced.
- 13:36Speaker 1: There is actually like no other public figure that I
- 13:41Speaker 1: can think of that is more like Voldemort than Vladimir Putin,
- 13:45Speaker 1: And it makes her look so bad to be defended
- 13:49Speaker 1: by this man. Like what do you think is like,
- 13:51Speaker 1: it's it's kind of like, girl, look how fucking orange
- 13:54Speaker 1: your love. Literally it's like, I mean, obviously there's no
- 13:57Speaker 1: nuance to add to this conversation. It's just like the
- 13:59Speaker 1: fucking it's just like we live in the most cursed
- 14:03Speaker 1: time that is so curse, Like it's it's it's it
- 14:07Speaker 1: is so cursed. Yes, But you know what, in the
- 14:09Speaker 1: midst of all of this, I was able to find
- 14:11Speaker 1: some joy through the escape of the movies. Because when
- 14:14Speaker 1: I was in Florida, my mom and I went to
- 14:15Speaker 1: see The Lost City the new Sandra Bolam com and
- 14:20Speaker 1: it was so fun and like, you know, some great
- 14:23Speaker 1: little performances by some of our good Judy's Patty Harrison
- 14:26Speaker 1: and Bowen Yange love to see the girls booked and busy.
- 14:30Speaker 1: And also it was a tight hour in thirty minutes.
- 14:33Speaker 1: Way you know, if I had a drag race scorecard,
- 14:36Speaker 1: length would be number one. I am so ready. I
- 14:39Speaker 1: know it's not a summer blockbuster, but it felt like one.
- 14:42Speaker 1: I'm ready. It felt when I went to see it
- 14:45Speaker 1: at um four pm on a Thursday in Boca Raton, Florida,
- 14:50Speaker 1: that theater was packed in March. And you're like, I
- 14:53Speaker 1: love summer like March, And that's how I know it's
- 14:56Speaker 1: going to be a hit. Yeah, I'm excited for that.
- 14:58Speaker 1: Probably get to sequel. Oh yeah, I would watch like
- 15:02Speaker 1: I mean, it has the makeup of everything I want
- 15:04Speaker 1: in a in a movie like that. Um, I watched
- 15:08Speaker 1: King Richard funny enough, I watched it on the plane
- 15:10Speaker 1: and then landed to the moment that is the most
- 15:13Speaker 1: plane movie and existence well that and the Greatest Showman.
- 15:18Speaker 1: You know. That's so it was definitely a very good
- 15:21Speaker 1: plane movie. I thought it was gray. Obviously, Will Smith
- 15:25Speaker 1: like earned that oscar Um I thought he would. He
- 15:28Speaker 1: totally disappeared into the character. I mean, what's funny is
- 15:31Speaker 1: that the character of the dad I thought was going
- 15:34Speaker 1: to be like kind of like his pursuit of happiness.
- 15:36Speaker 1: Air was like, this is like the most glowing, beautiful
- 15:39Speaker 1: superhero of a dad in existence, but he's actually like
- 15:43Speaker 1: a complete tyrant and a little bit of an asshole,
- 15:45Speaker 1: and like what he kind of does to Serena and
- 15:49Speaker 1: Venus is like very weird and hard to watch, especially
- 15:51Speaker 1: since it's so based in truth but has a character
- 15:55Speaker 1: he's like ultimately likable, which I was like, how did
- 15:58Speaker 1: you do that? You know? I wish that the portrayal
- 16:02Speaker 1: of the dad was less sympathetic. Obviously. It's like the
- 16:04Speaker 1: same thing like Tammy fay Baker. It's like this person
- 16:07Speaker 1: is kind of bad, you know, Like I just wish
- 16:09Speaker 1: that Will Smith had a fall from grace and he
- 16:11Speaker 1: didn't have it in this movie. Well, I will literally
- 16:14Speaker 1: never watch it, but it's really I mean, the tennis
- 16:17Speaker 1: matches are they made me care about tennis. So did
- 16:19Speaker 1: they ever use the song tennis Court by Lord. No
- 16:22Speaker 1: they didn't. Well, then it's a flop in my book. Yeah,
- 16:25Speaker 1: I agree, Yeah, or they didn't use any songs from
- 16:28Speaker 1: the band Tennis Tennis. No, it's very excited to move
- 16:33Speaker 1: on from awards season and move into our mail bag.
- 16:40Speaker 1: Come down. We're not calling it the com the come down? Virgins,
- 16:44Speaker 1: can you please advocate for us to call it something
- 16:47Speaker 1: that isn't the come down. I absolutely think that if
- 16:50Speaker 1: we pulled them, most of them would want us to
- 16:52Speaker 1: call it the compoune. Okay, first up, let's play our
- 17:09Speaker 1: first call. Hi, guys, love in the podcast than I
- 17:15Speaker 1: really think you guys that need to cover the classic
- 17:19Speaker 1: film show Girls from the nineties. You've probably already seen it.
- 17:23Speaker 1: It's not I highly recommend you checkout show Girls. But
- 17:26Speaker 1: also they're just released a few years ago this amazing
- 17:29Speaker 1: documentary kind of talking about show Girls and its legacy
- 17:33Speaker 1: and how it's a lot. But it's called you Don't
- 17:36Speaker 1: Know Me. The main character, her name is Nomi Malone.
- 17:39Speaker 1: I would love, love, love to hear your guys's perspective
- 17:43Speaker 1: on it. I make every single one of my friends
- 17:47Speaker 1: watch it. I have Showgirls themed parties. I am truly obsessed. Okay,
- 17:52Speaker 1: I have to say I watched this in Quarantine, so
- 17:55Speaker 1: I'm at recently cracked ebb in virgin the film show Girls,
- 17:59Speaker 1: not or the documentary. The film not the documentary. Um.
- 18:03Speaker 1: I was like, I had obviously heard a lot about it.
- 18:06Speaker 1: It's kind of like a very Mimi movie. It's like
- 18:10Speaker 1: a kind of gay right of passage. I distinctly remember
- 18:13Speaker 1: being at a cast party for I think our production
- 18:16Speaker 1: of Flower Drums Song, um, and it was like on
- 18:20Speaker 1: TV in the background. So I did see in my
- 18:24Speaker 1: youth the pool, the swimming pool, the infinite sex scene.
- 18:29Speaker 1: I thought, it's a stunning movie and like would be
- 18:33Speaker 1: in a god tier kind of like echelon of movies
- 18:36Speaker 1: for me if it wasn't for a completely and nonsensical
- 18:41Speaker 1: and gratuitous like gang rape scene that happens at the
- 18:44Speaker 1: end that like really should just be taken out of
- 18:46Speaker 1: the movie and like has no place in like the film.
- 18:49Speaker 1: But like I loved it outside of that, you know
- 18:52Speaker 1: what I mean. Yeah, I It's one of those movies
- 18:55Speaker 1: that I grew up like being aware of and then
- 19:00Speaker 1: always was like, Okay, I guess I'll have to watch
- 19:02Speaker 1: this one day because I'm gay. And then when I
- 19:04Speaker 1: finally watched it, it it was very anti climactic. And I
- 19:06Speaker 1: think it's a really bad movie, but not in a
- 19:10Speaker 1: way where I'm like into how bad it is or
- 19:13Speaker 1: like obsessed with its camping, as I just think it's bad.
- 19:17Speaker 1: But Kyle McLaughlin is so hot in it. Oh yeah,
- 19:21Speaker 1: I mean every everyone's hot in it, but Kyle McLaughlin especially,
- 19:25Speaker 1: and he's like kind of an astounding and like unconventionally
- 19:31Speaker 1: kind of hot and character where all the others are
- 19:35Speaker 1: like just supermodels that have never acted before kind of
- 19:39Speaker 1: Elizabeth Berkeley, um not a good actress, although she does
- 19:43Speaker 1: some stunning work in First Wives Club, which incidentally, we
- 19:47Speaker 1: should do an episode on you think, Um, you don't
- 19:50Speaker 1: known me? Yeah, I mean, so here's the thing. I
- 19:54Speaker 1: think there's a conversation to be had about badness in movies,
- 19:59Speaker 1: and because you and on this podcast talk a lot
- 20:01Speaker 1: about things that are so bad for me, Yeah, some
- 20:04Speaker 1: things are so bad they're good. Some things are just
- 20:07Speaker 1: playing bad there. Some things are quote unquote camp which
- 20:11Speaker 1: might not be bad or good, you know what I mean,
- 20:13Speaker 1: which I think a lot of people miss um define
- 20:16Speaker 1: the term everyone met Gala about this, we actually should
- 20:21Speaker 1: do I met Gala episode actually um, but I but
- 20:26Speaker 1: this is actually a very I think belongs to a
- 20:29Speaker 1: class of movies similar to Tommy Wizzos The Room where
- 20:33Speaker 1: which this movie is very famous for being bad, and
- 20:38Speaker 1: that I think that a big part of the premise
- 20:41Speaker 1: of the documentary is did this movie want to be
- 20:45Speaker 1: bad or did the director actually think this was a
- 20:48Speaker 1: good movie? Because some I think a lot of things,
- 20:51Speaker 1: you're like, that could be a legitimately bad choice, but
- 20:53Speaker 1: then some of them you're like, wait, like what plane
- 20:56Speaker 1: of reality is this director? I think the director is
- 20:59Speaker 1: just bad directing. I I think it's maybe a combo.
- 21:04Speaker 1: I don't know. I know, I think when you're being
- 21:07Speaker 1: as melodramatic as this movie is, being like they thought
- 21:11Speaker 1: they were. I say they because I don't know the
- 21:14Speaker 1: gender of the person directed, but I'm assuming it's a
- 21:16Speaker 1: man um. I thought they were going to win an
- 21:19Speaker 1: Oscar for this, you know. I thought that it was
- 21:21Speaker 1: like a serious film with you know, like heightened stylization
- 21:26Speaker 1: and like it's not it's not trying. At least that's
- 21:30Speaker 1: my opinion. It's not trying to be bad. It's trying
- 21:33Speaker 1: to be good and is bad. I don't know, swings
- 21:37Speaker 1: back around to being enjoyable. I think, yeah, I think
- 21:40Speaker 1: it might be that as well. I I feel like, um,
- 21:44Speaker 1: something that's kind of the choreography is very shocking, like
- 21:49Speaker 1: it it has like a violence to it that I
- 21:52Speaker 1: like never would have expected. Also in terms of things
- 21:55Speaker 1: I didn't expect, the movie is really long, Like it's
- 22:00Speaker 1: like one of those movies where like why is this
- 22:02Speaker 1: Why is this movie so long? You know what I mean?
- 22:06Speaker 1: Like I didn't I didn't sign up for the Batman.
- 22:09Speaker 1: Have you ever seen like any sort of like burlesque
- 22:11Speaker 1: or like have you been to the Box before? Yeah,
- 22:13Speaker 1: of course I remember, Like I think I'm once with
- 22:16Speaker 1: like a Mandela Poor's table or something like that. I
- 22:19Speaker 1: think she was like there every Wednesday or whatever. Um,
- 22:22Speaker 1: And it's like predominantly like CD business guys. It's all
- 22:29Speaker 1: like the worst straight people with a lot of money, yeah,
- 22:33Speaker 1: and queer people who are being paid to be there.
- 22:35Speaker 1: And I think that's kind of why. The thing about
- 22:38Speaker 1: that's the thing about show Girls that's like kind of
- 22:41Speaker 1: hard to digest, is like those people are kind of
- 22:45Speaker 1: the movers of the plot, even though the women should
- 22:49Speaker 1: be I don't know. I guess like no, me is
- 22:51Speaker 1: like the engine, but like she's so beholden to like
- 22:54Speaker 1: the decisions of men. Like pretty much the entire movie.
- 22:56Speaker 1: Hate it, do you really? Not even the kiss, not
- 23:01Speaker 1: even the lesbian kiss. You know, it's just so for
- 23:06Speaker 1: not the audience who ultimately received it that it just
- 23:11Speaker 1: it doesn't you know what. It's fine. I can understand
- 23:14Speaker 1: why people love it. It just doesn't really do anything
- 23:16Speaker 1: for me the movie as a whole. It is kind
- 23:18Speaker 1: of I do enjoy um movies where sex scenes don't
- 23:23Speaker 1: arouse me but they scare me. Oh, I actually think
- 23:26Speaker 1: the sex scene in this one is hot. There are
- 23:28Speaker 1: a lot of sex scenes. Well, I mean the one
- 23:30Speaker 1: in the pool. I think it's just the way she
- 23:33Speaker 1: thrashes around. It's a very interesting figure eight kind of
- 23:37Speaker 1: movement that she does with her is motion in the ocean,
- 23:41Speaker 1: which is that yeah, yeah, have you ever been a
- 23:43Speaker 1: Vegas should we Go? I have been a couple of times.
- 23:45Speaker 1: We go to should we go? We're going to see play,
- 23:47Speaker 1: We're gonna go see I want to see play. I
- 23:49Speaker 1: don't want to pay for it, though, well I will
- 23:52Speaker 1: for me, for my ticket, my my ticket, everyone that
- 23:56Speaker 1: I please. I have plenty of people who won't want
- 23:58Speaker 1: to go to play with me, so you know I
- 24:01Speaker 1: really do, actually legitimately wanting. Okay, well, then buy a ticket.
- 24:04Speaker 1: Next call my friend and Rose. I just finished listening
- 24:07Speaker 1: to your Lady Cheethcake episode. Very briefly, I wanted to
- 24:10Speaker 1: share that in eighth grade, I auditioned for my middle
- 24:13Speaker 1: schools protection at Annie Even Musical for of course the
- 24:16Speaker 1: role of Miss Hannigan as any first role, and at
- 24:21Speaker 1: that very liminal space when kids were just starting to
- 24:26Speaker 1: get internet on their blackberries. But no, god, I love blackberries.
- 24:30Speaker 1: So when the cast listed posted online, I saw the
- 24:33Speaker 1: Ivan cast in my dream role of Miss Hanagan. But
- 24:37Speaker 1: it turned out that they posted the row list and
- 24:40Speaker 1: when it went was posted up next God, Hanan, this
- 24:45Speaker 1: is of course, Oh my god, why are theater teachers
- 24:49Speaker 1: so meet? I wanted to share that the one piece
- 24:52Speaker 1: of media I've made all of my friends watch is,
- 24:55Speaker 1: of course Avatar, the Last Cairvender. I was that kid
- 24:57Speaker 1: who watched it in two thousand five, and was it tough?
- 25:00Speaker 1: That it taught me everything that is good and bad
- 25:02Speaker 1: in life, etcetera. Etcetera. I did make all of my
- 25:05Speaker 1: friends watch the episodes with me weekly over zome for
- 25:08Speaker 1: months on end, and then I need them watch the
- 25:10Speaker 1: Legend of Cora. So I am that girl and I
- 25:14Speaker 1: would love for you to talk about it. So, I mean,
- 25:16Speaker 1: I haven't seen like the Avatar like original series or whatever,
- 25:20Speaker 1: but I thought maybe that the listener was talking about Avatar,
- 25:24Speaker 1: directed by what's his name James Cameron, and like the
- 25:27Speaker 1: thing that must be said about Avatar the movie, which
- 25:31Speaker 1: aren't we supposed to get a sequel or something we're
- 25:33Speaker 1: supposed to get like twenty sequels to the Avatar movie
- 25:37Speaker 1: and the dates keep being announced as if that means
- 25:40Speaker 1: anything because it's been delayed so many times and it's
- 25:43Speaker 1: still like the highest grossing movie of all time. But like,
- 25:48Speaker 1: like ask a stranger on the street if they've seen
- 25:52Speaker 1: the movie Avatar, they will say yes, Ask them what
- 25:54Speaker 1: the plot of it is, and they'll be like blue
- 25:57Speaker 1: people yet literally, but that the thing that also Kate
- 26:01Speaker 1: Winslet is in the sequel is she she's like booked
- 26:04Speaker 1: for it and busy if it happens, um is coming
- 26:08Speaker 1: back even though she died she dies in it. But
- 26:12Speaker 1: this is what I'm saying. No, I do not remember
- 26:14Speaker 1: a single detail from the movie. I do the love Avatar. Okay, Well,
- 26:19Speaker 1: all I have to say is that, Well, why don't
- 26:20Speaker 1: you start? Then you induct me because I don't remember
- 26:25Speaker 1: any of the movie. Well, if you've seen Pocacontas, you've
- 26:28Speaker 1: seen Avatar. What. Yeah, it's the same plot. Is it
- 26:31Speaker 1: supposed to be like an it's just the James Cameron's
- 26:35Speaker 1: a hack. So so it's about colonization. Yes, that is
- 26:41Speaker 1: the entire plot of the movie. Okay. And also it's
- 26:43Speaker 1: basically Atlantis, which is also kind of the plot of Pocontis.
- 26:48Speaker 1: I love Atlantis. Atlantis is what we should talk about
- 26:50Speaker 1: because Milo is hot. I mean obviously. Actually the main
- 26:54Speaker 1: takeaway from Avatar of the movie is that the Navi
- 26:56Speaker 1: are hot. Also, I've been to the ava our section
- 27:00Speaker 1: of Disney Um, which you know only exists because they
- 27:05Speaker 1: couldn't get Harry potter Land because originally Disney was like
- 27:10Speaker 1: bidding on Harry potter World and J. K. Rowling demanded
- 27:14Speaker 1: a train. She wanted a Hogwarts Express and Disney said no,
- 27:19Speaker 1: and so she went to Universal because they were like, obviously,
- 27:22Speaker 1: we'll give you a train because we're gonna make a
- 27:24Speaker 1: jillion dollars um. And so Disney was like, oh, well,
- 27:27Speaker 1: we need a theme park world that like is like
- 27:32Speaker 1: on a similar vibe of like you know, like this
- 27:34Speaker 1: like world building where we can like sell a lot
- 27:37Speaker 1: of merch. And they were like, well, Avatar is the
- 27:38Speaker 1: high scrolsing movie of all time that no one's actually
- 27:41Speaker 1: knows what it's about. Um, And that's why the Avatar
- 27:44Speaker 1: theme park exists at Disney. And the ride in it
- 27:47Speaker 1: is actually so fucking good. Really, I like almost cried
- 27:51Speaker 1: during No, Yeah, I did. It's so good. There's a
- 27:54Speaker 1: part where you can smell oranges. It's amazing. Four D Okay,
- 27:58Speaker 1: it's like for D, you really never disappoint me with
- 28:01Speaker 1: your theme park knowledge. Ever, I love theme parks. We
- 28:04Speaker 1: should do a theme park episode. Um, can you tell
- 28:06Speaker 1: me the standouts from the movie, because the only thing
- 28:10Speaker 1: I can remember is the NAVI sex where like the
- 28:12Speaker 1: little like kind of thallus appendage like goes into the well. Yeah,
- 28:16Speaker 1: they put their braids together, and it's like that's it's
- 28:19Speaker 1: so vivid. Okay, here's Avatar. This is what Avatar is about. Um.
- 28:23Speaker 1: There's a planet called Pandora. Humans have colonized it for
- 28:26Speaker 1: like some precious mineral that it has. I think it's
- 28:30Speaker 1: it's called unobtained. Um. It's a letterally because they can't
- 28:34Speaker 1: obtain it. God's so stupid. Um. And so this guy
- 28:39Speaker 1: who is a paraplegic is like part of the you know,
- 28:44Speaker 1: like military, and goes there and he joins this thing
- 28:47Speaker 1: called the Avatar program where they project people's minds into
- 28:52Speaker 1: these like lab grown bodies that are like human DNA
- 28:57Speaker 1: mingled with the Navvy. And he is in this body
- 29:01Speaker 1: and is like hanging out with the Navy and meets
- 29:05Speaker 1: and then he becomes friends with them and falls in
- 29:07Speaker 1: the Wizoe Sildanna and then he's like humans are bad.
- 29:10Speaker 1: And then they like there's a war and the Navvy
- 29:13Speaker 1: triumph and he oh he and he gets he. They
- 29:16Speaker 1: do this ritual under this huge tree and his um.
- 29:20Speaker 1: This is after Sigourney Weaver has died and his mind
- 29:24Speaker 1: gets permanently transplanted into his avatar body. Oh that's a
- 29:28Speaker 1: great ending. It's kind of a trans story. It is
- 29:31Speaker 1: that is super trans And I also have to say
- 29:34Speaker 1: this is deaf trans species. Trans species. Now that is
- 29:38Speaker 1: what we should putting through the Supria Mama. Okay, so
- 29:45Speaker 1: I have to say, like, um, his name is Jake
- 29:48Speaker 1: Sully also, which is like the name of the main character.
- 29:51Speaker 1: And didn't that guy not do like literally anything. Now
- 29:53Speaker 1: he was in one other movie that's cuckoo bananas if
- 29:56Speaker 1: you're in the most profitable movie. And I also seeing
- 30:00Speaker 1: Avatar movie theaters was like one of the top five
- 30:02Speaker 1: most stoned times I've ever been in my life. I
- 30:05Speaker 1: watched Dead Sober, which means I need to rewatch it. High. Um, yeah,
- 30:09Speaker 1: I mean the Navy are hot, is like the most
- 30:11Speaker 1: important thing to take away from this conversation. And it
- 30:13Speaker 1: really is Atlantis. It's not it's not pocon I mean
- 30:15Speaker 1: they're all about No, it's it's Atlantis. Because I'm sure
- 30:20Speaker 1: there's like a thing on Tumbler somewhere where they have
- 30:23Speaker 1: like all the story beats side by side. Well and
- 30:26Speaker 1: it's the same plot. There's even a part where they
- 30:28Speaker 1: like I can understand each other because of magic or something. Oh,
- 30:33Speaker 1: I see, listen with your heart, you will understand. And
- 30:39Speaker 1: that's what grandmother Will is like, Oh my god, this
- 30:41Speaker 1: movie is so problematic, like we can't even but like
- 30:44Speaker 1: I think John Smith doesn't. Doesn't he ultimately go to
- 30:47Speaker 1: he goes back to go with him. Well that's in
- 30:51Speaker 1: the sequel no no no, no no. Pocon Is stays
- 30:54Speaker 1: back and waves and then she goes with him in
- 30:56Speaker 1: this so okay, I have I cannot be overseated that
- 30:59Speaker 1: this is a movie. It's like the movies are so
- 31:01Speaker 1: egregiously racist, racist and like insidiously like an eraser of
- 31:05Speaker 1: like obviously indigenous people. But like they made a whole
- 31:08Speaker 1: second movie about how Pokehon has went back to England
- 31:11Speaker 1: and that's like based in it, but it's like a
- 31:15Speaker 1: happy version of what is like the saddest story about
- 31:18Speaker 1: like a like a pre teen Pokehon. It's like being
- 31:21Speaker 1: basically kidnapped, but you know what, just around the riverbend slaps. Unfortunately,
- 31:25Speaker 1: I was in the car the other day getting down
- 31:27Speaker 1: to colors of the wind high Road, Hyprion. I'm calling
- 31:45Speaker 1: you guys because I need to tell you guys about
- 31:48Speaker 1: the X Files. It was absolutely, in every possible way,
- 31:51Speaker 1: my sexual awakening. I have never wanted to watch two
- 31:55Speaker 1: people have sex more than Molder and Scully, and as
- 31:58Speaker 1: a bisexual, I frankly and had an absolute toss up
- 32:02Speaker 1: about who in that show was hotter. You have nine
- 32:07Speaker 1: girl Power, you have David Ducoviny with the hair, they're
- 32:11Speaker 1: both wearing suits. There's all the conspiracies, and the fucking
- 32:15Speaker 1: government is out to get us or is it the
- 32:18Speaker 1: aliens or lies? The whole thing hot, just hot. I've
- 32:23Speaker 1: always wanted to sit in a basement room with a
- 32:25Speaker 1: poster with the UFO on it with somebody have years
- 32:29Speaker 1: and years of tension while we try to figure out
- 32:31Speaker 1: what the government is lying to us about. It is
- 32:34Speaker 1: UM my number one obsession, and I think I am
- 32:36Speaker 1: literally searching for um for my threesome with David ducomany
- 32:41Speaker 1: and and Scully. In every aspect of my life, I
- 32:44Speaker 1: only wanted to do do some with Jillian Anderson and that's it.
- 32:47Speaker 1: She can peg me. I'm sorry to say, UM, I've
- 32:51Speaker 1: never seen it. Did you watch? I was a casual
- 32:55Speaker 1: watcher of The X Files when it was on TV.
- 32:58Speaker 1: I think it was like maybe a little young. It
- 33:00Speaker 1: was like, it's very scary, um and I. But I
- 33:07Speaker 1: did see the movie when it came out and was
- 33:11Speaker 1: really obsessed with the movie and had the action figures
- 33:14Speaker 1: from it. Oh wow. I think what I liked about
- 33:17Speaker 1: it was that I did like the part of it
- 33:21Speaker 1: that it was very unclear if the aliens were real
- 33:26Speaker 1: or you know, what was going on. But I think
- 33:28Speaker 1: like then there was the aliens were actually real. Yeah, yeah, definitely.
- 33:33Speaker 1: I mean this belongs to a class of media that
- 33:35Speaker 1: I only know from commercials because I maybe wasn't allowed
- 33:39Speaker 1: to watch it at the time, but didn't he go
- 33:40Speaker 1: on forever? Well it there was a it came back
- 33:43Speaker 1: as a as a movie and as a TV Yeah.
- 33:47Speaker 1: I watched the reboot. I saw the reboot movie in
- 33:50Speaker 1: theaters and it was fine. Um. I think like one
- 33:56Speaker 1: of the big things about the show was like, not
- 33:58Speaker 1: only the are the aliens real? But you know, will
- 34:00Speaker 1: there won't they will Muldern Scully get together? And I
- 34:03Speaker 1: believe they did. They had a kid together. I think, Um,
- 34:07Speaker 1: they were both extremely hot um and and kind of
- 34:11Speaker 1: like peak nineties hotness. They very much are kind of
- 34:18Speaker 1: like the archetypes of like TV leading man, leading leading Lady.
- 34:24Speaker 1: Did they precede Men in Black in terms of alien
- 34:28Speaker 1: um espionage? Yeah, because aliens were all the rage in
- 34:33Speaker 1: the nineties. Oh yeah, because of Roswell. Did you ever
- 34:35Speaker 1: watch the TV show Roswell? No, Sorring Sheery Appleby. I
- 34:39Speaker 1: didn't even know it existed. Oh my god. It was like, um,
- 34:43Speaker 1: Roswell is Buffy era um, when you know, like supernatural
- 34:48Speaker 1: teens were all the rage. And it's about a girl
- 34:51Speaker 1: who lives in Roswell, New Mexico and gets shot in
- 34:55Speaker 1: a diner one day and a sexy alien heals her
- 34:57Speaker 1: with his alien powers. And it was Catherine high goals
- 35:00Speaker 1: breakout role. I feel like I was not. I was
- 35:03Speaker 1: not when I watched Men in Black in theaters. I'm
- 35:08Speaker 1: pretty sure that like I had to leave the theater
- 35:10Speaker 1: because I was too scared. I was. I'm not joking.
- 35:14Speaker 1: I had a really low threshold for fear at the time.
- 35:17Speaker 1: I was probably like what, like, you know why I
- 35:19Speaker 1: had to leave the theater because I thought the scene
- 35:21Speaker 1: where the alien drank sugar water was so disgusted. It's
- 35:24Speaker 1: so it's so gross. It's it's really discussed unnecessarily necessarily gross.
- 35:32Speaker 1: That was another I don't it was a scared yeah
- 35:35Speaker 1: to gross humor. I don't need it. It's a little,
- 35:38Speaker 1: it's a little but anyways, Gillian Anderson can tell me anything, honestly,
- 35:42Speaker 1: there's like a little not that she ever went away
- 35:43Speaker 1: about the Gillian Anderson renaissance that's kind of happening right now.
- 35:48Speaker 1: The gillisance as you if you if you will um
- 35:52Speaker 1: is truely I was founding. She is good in every
- 35:55Speaker 1: single thing she's popped up in in the last like
- 35:57Speaker 1: five years. One thing about the X Files of the
- 35:59Speaker 1: Creator so really have always been incredibly opposed to fan fiction.
- 36:05Speaker 1: Oh my god. Really wait, like to the point where
- 36:07Speaker 1: they would send fan fiction writers cease and desist letters
- 36:11Speaker 1: just like wait, what um because they didn't want people
- 36:16Speaker 1: like playing in their sandbox. That's like when when like
- 36:19Speaker 1: what was it? Like Spielberger Scarcese was like these streaming
- 36:22Speaker 1: services are just going to ruin everything or whatever, and
- 36:25Speaker 1: you know what I mean, It's like you can't. If
- 36:27Speaker 1: you're gonna make art, you have to like your beholden
- 36:30Speaker 1: to the culture you're giving it. And it's also like
- 36:32Speaker 1: fan fiction is the only artistic medium that people are
- 36:35Speaker 1: not trying to profit off of, Like, yeah, we have
- 36:38Speaker 1: the fifty shades of gray of the world, but those
- 36:41Speaker 1: are outliers. Fan creators spend hundreds and hundreds of hours
- 36:47Speaker 1: creating incredible art literally just for the sake of making it. Yeah, Wow.
- 36:52Speaker 1: I have seen people right, like hundred thousand words stories
- 36:56Speaker 1: that like no one reads like passion projects God, and
- 37:02Speaker 1: they're not and they're not monetize able at all. Next
- 37:05Speaker 1: next call Hi, Rosen Fran Obviously, I love you so much.
- 37:11Speaker 1: UM's why I'm calling. I know this show is a
- 37:15Speaker 1: little problematic, um now in but Ugly Betty one of
- 37:22Speaker 1: my top Watching it and hearing all of the really
- 37:30Speaker 1: do bad things that they say now, um, just recognizing
- 37:33Speaker 1: it and knowing that it's bad she's talking. It was
- 37:39Speaker 1: just very helpful for me in my life, just getting
- 37:42Speaker 1: me um. Comedy and the jokes and just everything. I
- 37:48Speaker 1: love it so much, um, as well as you guys. Okay, bye,
- 37:52Speaker 1: love you too. UM. Vanessa Williams will Amus Later one
- 37:57Speaker 1: of the best to ever do it, actually one is
- 38:00Speaker 1: and present one of the most amazing villains of television.
- 38:03Speaker 1: I adore everything she does in this series. Ugly Betty
- 38:06Speaker 1: is one of my favorite TV shows. It's I mean, yes,
- 38:09Speaker 1: some of it hasn't aged well. The trans stuff is
- 38:14Speaker 1: particularly bad. There are also a lot of fat But
- 38:17Speaker 1: but I love it and I love Alexis Mead. Yeah,
- 38:20Speaker 1: and I'm allowed to say that. On the trans stuff
- 38:23Speaker 1: of it all. Like I'm always astounded by actually, like
- 38:26Speaker 1: the number of like trans friends that I have that
- 38:29Speaker 1: love this show, love this show, and yeah, it definitely
- 38:34Speaker 1: didn't do it right and like, um, but it did it,
- 38:37Speaker 1: but it did it exactly and that was almost Um.
- 38:40Speaker 1: When we say things are ahead of their time, it
- 38:42Speaker 1: almost always means like fucking data, now, you know what
- 38:44Speaker 1: I mean? But like it was ahead of its time
- 38:47Speaker 1: in some ways. And something that I remember very vividly
- 38:50Speaker 1: about Alexis meads plot line is there is this really
- 38:55Speaker 1: heartbreaking scene where she kind of takes a guy home
- 38:59Speaker 1: for the first time post transition, and um, she thinks
- 39:04Speaker 1: it's going really well and he's like they're kind of
- 39:06Speaker 1: having a bit of a romance, and she finds out
- 39:09Speaker 1: that he's working for her dad or whatever, and she
- 39:12Speaker 1: like and she leaves the room like very confidently and bravely,
- 39:16Speaker 1: and she's like she like kind of like tells him
- 39:18Speaker 1: off or whatever, leaves and then she closes the door
- 39:21Speaker 1: and like collapse. Do you remember that? And I remember it?
- 39:26Speaker 1: And that's the thing is like trans women on TV
- 39:30Speaker 1: in the late nineties early aughts were like dead dead,
- 39:33Speaker 1: but no, I'm saying they were dead bodies and drug
- 39:36Speaker 1: addicts and like they were. There was only one trope
- 39:38Speaker 1: of like trans women at the time, you know on
- 39:41Speaker 1: TV and like Law and Orders for you or I
- 39:43Speaker 1: don't even I've never been seeing that. I don't know
- 39:45Speaker 1: if that's true, but like never seen you. We don't
- 39:49Speaker 1: know my favorite TV time. You just said that about
- 39:53Speaker 1: I have a lot of favorites. I think I've said
- 39:55Speaker 1: this on the podcast before. It cannot be overstated and
- 39:58Speaker 1: it is not an exaggeration that Ugly Betty is the
- 40:01Speaker 1: reason I work in media period. I had. I never
- 40:06Speaker 1: had a model, a modeling so strong and a point
- 40:09Speaker 1: where representation mattered so much and where I was like,
- 40:11Speaker 1: I want to be like the little Latin girl that
- 40:14Speaker 1: their bosses like treat him like ship all day, you
- 40:16Speaker 1: know what I mean, Like it was just aspirational. Well,
- 40:19Speaker 1: who I wanted to be was Amanda. Of course Amanda
- 40:22Speaker 1: was my favor You are Amanda well, but I wanted
- 40:25Speaker 1: to be like Amanda slash Wilhelmina. Yeah, I mean, no one,
- 40:29Speaker 1: no one has ever done it like Vanessa Williams did it.
- 40:31Speaker 1: No one ever will we need Vanessa Williams back on
- 40:34Speaker 1: TV it's a great ensemble cast as well. And because
- 40:38Speaker 1: the show was pretty successful at the time, I had
- 40:40Speaker 1: great cameos. I had like Lindsay Lohan. I remember she
- 40:44Speaker 1: was supposed to have a whh my god, Lindsay Lohan
- 40:46Speaker 1: cameo so incredible. It was like it was like at
- 40:49Speaker 1: the time when Lindsay was like in Press Hilton. Every
- 40:53Speaker 1: day she was spinning out. And she famously was fired
- 40:56Speaker 1: from the show because she was supposed to have a
- 40:58Speaker 1: full season ARC I think, or multiple us at ARC,
- 41:00Speaker 1: and she was I think fired after the second episode.
- 41:03Speaker 1: So many good guest stars, Samahayak, Victoria Beckham. Oh yeah.
- 41:08Speaker 1: Also I always thought it was funny that the main
- 41:11Speaker 1: guy was the gay guy from Cruel Intentions. Oh yeah.
- 41:14Speaker 1: And also, um, there was a pre I think pre
- 41:18Speaker 1: fame Octavia Spencer playing playing um, what's his face is boo?
- 41:25Speaker 1: His like caseworker, and then with him and then she
- 41:29Speaker 1: convinces him she blackmailed him. She blackmails him into marrying
- 41:33Speaker 1: her for the green card, and she shows up to
- 41:36Speaker 1: his house in a wedding dress and then she collapsed
- 41:37Speaker 1: and she's like Ignatia love Anna Ortiz is that she's
- 41:43Speaker 1: um Betty's sister. Oh my god, yes, Hila, Yeah, yeah,
- 41:50Speaker 1: I'm glad it ended after four seasons, like even though
- 41:54Speaker 1: there could have been more, it did, I think, and
- 41:59Speaker 1: on a high note agree, And I love that Betty
- 42:01Speaker 1: got her braces off, got you know. I also think
- 42:05Speaker 1: like the stuff she was wearing is like what I
- 42:07Speaker 1: see the fashion girl he's wearing on TikTok now very
- 42:11Speaker 1: ahead of her time. Yeah she was, And yeah, I agree.
- 42:15Speaker 1: I think that show land in a good place, and shockingly,
- 42:18Speaker 1: at least from my experience of it, I remember the
- 42:22Speaker 1: third and fourth seasons being actually pretty good, like it's
- 42:26Speaker 1: it's a Taylor novella, so it's like very off the rails,
- 42:29Speaker 1: but at no point unwatchable. What about the episode where
- 42:32Speaker 1: they go to Wicked, Oh my god, because it's her
- 42:34Speaker 1: favorite I'm not that. Oh my god, Judith Light, Judith Light,
- 42:41Speaker 1: Oh my god. And she the reason why I know
- 42:44Speaker 1: who Judith Light is. This in lawn order. Unfortunately, this
- 42:47Speaker 1: is the reason I know who Judith Light is. And
- 42:49Speaker 1: I didn't know who Vanessa Williams was before the show.
- 42:52Speaker 1: I did because of Into the Woods and and also
- 42:55Speaker 1: like she was such a thing in the nineties Yeah,
- 42:57Speaker 1: she was big on Broadway. I mean she was a
- 42:59Speaker 1: big like adult contemporary music. And this was right around
- 43:03Speaker 1: the time that she had her kind of come up
- 43:05Speaker 1: in after like the public shaming of being fired from
- 43:08Speaker 1: Miss America and speaking of Pocahontas. She did the cover
- 43:11Speaker 1: of Colors of the Wind Will Not Cover, but she
- 43:13Speaker 1: did the soundtrack version. Oh my gosh, honestly, why are
- 43:19Speaker 1: we not putting Vanessa Williams in TV shows again? Put
- 43:22Speaker 1: some respect on her name. Oh the Summahiak cameo she
- 43:27Speaker 1: was also, well, she's got like a whole season arc.
- 43:31Speaker 1: The whole season well, she famously executive produced it. That's right. Um.
- 43:36Speaker 1: It was like kind of maybe her idea to reboot it.
- 43:38Speaker 1: It was. It was so huge its first season. Didn't
- 43:42Speaker 1: it win like every Emmy? It was the show, I
- 43:45Speaker 1: think so. I think that's why they were able to
- 43:47Speaker 1: get such crazy cameos, very buzzy, and then I think
- 43:50Speaker 1: maybe like the writers strike heard it a little bit. Oh,
- 43:54Speaker 1: this is one of those right. Oh my gosh, I
- 43:56Speaker 1: killed Pushing Daisies. It killed this r I p pushing days.
- 44:00Speaker 1: I've never seen audi. Uh. I just wanted to tell
- 44:09Speaker 1: y'all I haven't even finished this book and I've been
- 44:12Speaker 1: telling everybody about it. And it's called Thoughts Without a
- 44:14Speaker 1: Thinker by Mark Epstein and it's about integrating Buddhism and
- 44:20Speaker 1: psychotherapy and it has been Um, it's a really good read.
- 44:26Speaker 1: I mean, it's one of those that I can't read
- 44:29Speaker 1: it quick because I'm just sitting there and like processing
- 44:33Speaker 1: everything and applying it to my own life and meditating. All.
- 44:39Speaker 1: That's a really good book. I just want a job
- 44:41Speaker 1: to know that did you write it? And also I'm
- 44:46Speaker 1: one of these assholes. Also that it's really into uh
- 44:50Speaker 1: our dough? Like I started, do you want us to
- 44:55Speaker 1: do an episode on sour dough? Wee hobby? I read
- 44:58Speaker 1: this person psych on it. I don't know. I feel
- 45:01Speaker 1: like I want to delete this voice now. Now, Oh
- 45:06Speaker 1: my god, that's so cute. Oh I was sorry, guys.
- 45:12Speaker 1: I love y'all. I love your podcast. The really stuck
- 45:17Speaker 1: the landing? Did they figure out how to hang up
- 45:20Speaker 1: the phone? Though it's still going okay that they really
- 45:24Speaker 1: stuck the landing on that one because we didn't know
- 45:25Speaker 1: where we were going from the beginning, But like I
- 45:29Speaker 1: was endeared by the end. Um, would I will you
- 45:33Speaker 1: be reading that book. What was the name called thoughts
- 45:36Speaker 1: without a thinker mood? No thoughts had empty You know
- 45:41Speaker 1: what's funny is I am actually like I almost exclusively
- 45:45Speaker 1: read self help books. Is so bleak. It's honestly me
- 45:49Speaker 1: and Janny Wolf like we just love self help books.
- 45:52Speaker 1: I don't know what it is. I haven't read this.
- 45:54Speaker 1: I probably am not going to get help. But but
- 45:58Speaker 1: but this, this reader has absolutely won me over, and
- 46:01Speaker 1: I have you. You need to know that Buddhism and
- 46:03Speaker 1: sour dose starters are a great way of life and
- 46:05Speaker 1: things that only enrichie as a human being. And also
- 46:09Speaker 1: I have never made a sour dough no, but you make.
- 46:12Speaker 1: You're a very good baker. You baked me that loaf
- 46:14Speaker 1: of bread that was much better than the same look
- 46:16Speaker 1: of loaf of bread I tried to bake. So you're
- 46:18Speaker 1: saying on the record that it was better than your
- 46:20Speaker 1: loving I am no. I was so. I was having
- 46:22Speaker 1: a bad week and I had seen this recipe on
- 46:25Speaker 1: TikTok for chocolate banana bread and decided I was going
- 46:28Speaker 1: to make it. And as it was cooking, a friend
- 46:32Speaker 1: called me and told me that they were at my
- 46:35Speaker 1: house and had brought me a loaf of this chocolate
- 46:37Speaker 1: banana bread that they made, and it was very sweet
- 46:41Speaker 1: and very thoughtful and so much better than the banana
- 46:44Speaker 1: bread I made, which I did throw out. And the
- 46:46Speaker 1: reason I made it was because you sent me the
- 46:48Speaker 1: TikTok and you're like, I really want to make this,
- 46:51Speaker 1: which is very unusual for me. I do not cook ever. Yeah,
- 46:56Speaker 1: for Phoebe just said, that's the easiest bread to me,
- 46:58Speaker 1: the peanut gallery. No, that is so. I look, that's
- 47:02Speaker 1: that's t Um. I have to Actually, I can't do
- 47:05Speaker 1: anything right. I'm so soft without a thinker. This is
- 47:09Speaker 1: about to be a podcast without a host, big bike
- 47:14Speaker 1: without a baker. Um. I feel like I just have to,
- 47:18Speaker 1: you know, do my friend thing and end with some sincerity.
- 47:20Speaker 1: There's a little book about Buddhism, or rather a compilation
- 47:24Speaker 1: of Buddhist teachings called the Pocket Pemishdurn, which is like
- 47:27Speaker 1: a really gorgeous kind of like gorgeous. It's a gorgeous
- 47:31Speaker 1: gorgeous books, you know, appropriating another culture's religious She's a
- 47:38Speaker 1: very famous Buddhist monk that unfortunately was kind of like
- 47:40Speaker 1: metude Um. Great, everyone go out and buy her book.
- 47:46Speaker 1: And support her. I look, people make mistakes. Everybody makes mistakes,
- 47:53Speaker 1: everybody has this is the most unraveled recording we've ever had.
- 47:58Speaker 1: It was a very unraveled all But anyways, okay, no,
- 48:02Speaker 1: I actually have to give a serious recommendation. Also, can
- 48:04Speaker 1: you please start putting your pronouns and when you call,
- 48:06Speaker 1: so that we don't misgender you. I actually don't care.
- 48:09Speaker 1: I mean, actually the thing I don't care. I would
- 48:11Speaker 1: like to know how to refer to people, you know,
- 48:13Speaker 1: I mean Frand just said, I don't care about people facts,
- 48:18Speaker 1: don't care about your feelings. Okay, but Shapiro, Frand Shapiro.
- 48:24Speaker 1: What I meant to say was that, Um, I think
- 48:26Speaker 1: that we as a culture over emphasized the import of pronouns,
- 48:30Speaker 1: and I think that if they are important to you,
- 48:32Speaker 1: you should state them, and if they are not, we
- 48:35Speaker 1: will defer to they them pronouns, which I think also
- 48:38Speaker 1: just culturally, people think it's like totally okay to defer
- 48:41Speaker 1: to the them pronouns, which is like not always because
- 48:42Speaker 1: you could be like miss gendering someone by doing that. Um.
- 48:45Speaker 1: But anyways, anyways, I have to this book. The Pocket
- 48:50Speaker 1: pemish Adren is a collection of teachings from the Buddhist
- 48:53Speaker 1: monk pemish Adren. And if he's canceled, who we don't
- 48:58Speaker 1: believe we like a virgin, do not concept of cancelation.
- 49:03Speaker 1: She was Metude for not um not. She basically was
- 49:08Speaker 1: complicit in abuse that happened in her monastery. I believe
- 49:12Speaker 1: that we should consume things, as we've said in original episodes,
- 49:15Speaker 1: consume things and then make their history stick. That's why
- 49:18Speaker 1: I said that she had been Metuo. Anyways, her books
- 49:22Speaker 1: are wonderful, and so if you don't want to go
- 49:24Speaker 1: and read all her books, it's all truncated in this
- 49:26Speaker 1: teeny little pocket him of children that literally changed my life. Hi,
- 49:43Speaker 1: I'm calling this kind for no reason. I wanted to
- 49:45Speaker 1: just tell Evils how much I love the podcast. From
- 49:49Speaker 1: the very beginning, it was you have a Harry Potter one. Um.
- 49:53Speaker 1: I just I was bor than seventy eight, so I'm
- 49:55Speaker 1: older than you all, But I like everything you're talking about.
- 49:58Speaker 1: I just finished the Final Toll podcast. I'm not on
- 50:01Speaker 1: social media currently for my own mental health or look
- 50:04Speaker 1: good for you getting there, but I did use five
- 50:07Speaker 1: star reviews on Apple podcasts and on Spotify podcast and
- 50:11Speaker 1: for everyone I know. And my name is Phoebe, so
- 50:14Speaker 1: I love you another Phoebe, an iconic name. We're doing it. Um,
- 50:19Speaker 1: I would say like Twin Peaks, but I feel like
- 50:21Speaker 1: that's kind of a thing that everyone who's already watched now.
- 50:23Speaker 1: I was actually watched it when he was live on
- 50:25Speaker 1: the air, So I was eleven years old because a
- 50:28Speaker 1: mother who liked David Lynch a lot, which was went
- 50:30Speaker 1: too early for them as a result, kind of petrified
- 50:32Speaker 1: for life by it. And we'll always been say a
- 50:34Speaker 1: certain characters names. Um, I love you guys to dress Buffy,
- 50:38Speaker 1: I love it all. Just thank you so much for
- 50:39Speaker 1: doing it. Please keep doing it. Thanks that nice. Okay.
- 50:46Speaker 1: Have you ever seen Twin Peaks? Okay, I actually have
- 50:50Speaker 1: never seen a single episode, but I really wanted to
- 50:53Speaker 1: watch the Laura Dern edition of it. Do you know
- 50:57Speaker 1: the basic premise or do you need me to know?
- 51:00Speaker 1: I actually literally know nothing about it. Okay. Twin Peaks
- 51:03Speaker 1: is a TV show about a small town called Twin Peaks,
- 51:06Speaker 1: and the inciting incident is that this team girl named
- 51:09Speaker 1: Laura Palmer is found murder and so this detective named
- 51:15Speaker 1: Dale Cooper played by Kyle McLaughlin say his name heard
- 51:20Speaker 1: multiple times in this episode, comes to town to figure
- 51:23Speaker 1: out who her killer is. There's a lot of suspects
- 51:26Speaker 1: and like at first it seems like, you know, maybe
- 51:29Speaker 1: it's just like a weird who done it? And then
- 51:30Speaker 1: it turns increasingly otherworldly and spooky. Was created by David Lynch,
- 51:38Speaker 1: you know, the like Autter Mastermind. It had several different
- 51:43Speaker 1: iterations because the original series lasted for two seasons. The
- 51:47Speaker 1: first season is really incredible. The second season goes kind
- 51:51Speaker 1: of off the rails because Lynch actually left it. Um well,
- 51:55Speaker 1: he's like that makes no sense. He's like literally like
- 51:57Speaker 1: the spine. Well, I think I think the thing was
- 52:00Speaker 1: like the main question was who killed Laura Palmer, and
- 52:03Speaker 1: he really wanted to never answer it, but that's iconic.
- 52:08Speaker 1: But people were really concerned with finding out who killed
- 52:11Speaker 1: her because it's like it's like not the point of
- 52:14Speaker 1: the show. And so then there was there were two
- 52:18Speaker 1: movies I believe um Firewalk with Me is one of them,
- 52:22Speaker 1: and then recently with like a couple of years ago,
- 52:26Speaker 1: there was Twin Peaks The Return and it is incredibly weird.
- 52:31Speaker 1: It's really stylistically captivating. I feel like that's what David
- 52:38Speaker 1: Lynch is like known for. It's like a highly stylized,
- 52:42Speaker 1: like um style of directing, and that the fact that
- 52:46Speaker 1: he has this kind of postmodern if not I was
- 52:49Speaker 1: gonna say surrealist, but I guess it's more like fabulousm
- 52:52Speaker 1: kind of thing. It's also surrealist. Um. Everything is super heightened.
- 52:58Speaker 1: Another Lynch movie that I love is Wild at Heart,
- 53:02Speaker 1: starring Laura jurn In Nicolas Cage, one of the only
- 53:05Speaker 1: other movies I like Nicholas cagn I don't think I've
- 53:07Speaker 1: seen Wild at Hard waits. It's fucking weird. It's so weird.
- 53:11Speaker 1: There's this one scene where, so it's about Laura durn
- 53:14Speaker 1: who's like runaway with Nicolas Cage, and there's one scene
- 53:17Speaker 1: where her mother, who's trying to get people to like
- 53:20Speaker 1: hunt them down and kill Nicholas Cage, is on the
- 53:21Speaker 1: phone and she's putting on lipstick and she's like going
- 53:25Speaker 1: insane and she just keeps with the lipstick like overdrawing
- 53:29Speaker 1: and overdrawing and overdrawing until her whole face is paying
- 53:31Speaker 1: Oh my god, I feel like I've seen that. And
- 53:33Speaker 1: definitely it's like it's like a tumbler thing. For sure,
- 53:37Speaker 1: and it's I'm sure there's like drag queens who have
- 53:39Speaker 1: done refts on it, Hi Bran and Rose Um. I
- 53:48Speaker 1: just listened to your musical episode and you asked, what
- 53:52Speaker 1: like popped our cultural terry. I feel like there's many
- 53:56Speaker 1: a moment, but musical wise, like it wasn't. The first
- 54:00Speaker 1: musical I saw was High School Musical? Big deal for you,
- 54:03Speaker 1: because I lost my mind. I was like in the
- 54:07Speaker 1: fifth grade when it came out, and I had it
- 54:10Speaker 1: on DHS tape and I would watch the first half
- 54:14Speaker 1: of it one day before school, and then the next
- 54:18Speaker 1: half of it the next day before school. I would
- 54:21Speaker 1: wake up for watch it. And this went on for months.
- 54:24Speaker 1: And I love Decca that wo actually kind of really
- 54:27Speaker 1: demand to you. I think I also loved Ashley Tisdale
- 54:30Speaker 1: like I still do. Okay, Yeah, I was just wondering
- 54:35Speaker 1: if High School Musical was like as big of a
- 54:38Speaker 1: thing for YouTube as as yeah as I feel like
- 54:41Speaker 1: it is for the world. Oh father's son, how's the Gucci? Um?
- 54:48Speaker 1: I definitely, you know, watched High School Musical, But I
- 54:54Speaker 1: think part of it is that I'm a little old.
- 54:57Speaker 1: Like it came out in two thousand and six. So
- 54:59Speaker 1: I was a senior in high school. So I definitely
- 55:01Speaker 1: saw it and I saw the second one, but I
- 55:07Speaker 1: had kind of aged out of being the right demographic
- 55:11Speaker 1: for it. I was exactly the demographic when it came out.
- 55:15Speaker 1: I was in like I was like three years older
- 55:17Speaker 1: than That's what I'm saying. As I was like, I
- 55:19Speaker 1: think a freshman in high school or something like that,
- 55:21Speaker 1: and I remember like you could not escape it, like
- 55:26Speaker 1: you it was like so it took over the entire
- 55:30Speaker 1: culture of our school, and it was actually I remember
- 55:33Speaker 1: being I remember being annoying to me, and it was
- 55:36Speaker 1: one of those things that I've always had good taste.
- 55:38Speaker 1: I feel um, and I feel like one of these times, okay, yeah,
- 55:43Speaker 1: one of these things I feel like um with uh
- 55:47Speaker 1: this in particular, I get I often get really allergic
- 55:51Speaker 1: to things that everyone says is really good, you know,
- 55:55Speaker 1: and like on the baseball you look at it and
- 55:56Speaker 1: you're like, I don't think I'm gonna like this. So
- 55:58Speaker 1: I'm just I don't need to be another person that
- 56:01Speaker 1: talks about how good it is, you know what I mean. Yeah,
- 56:05Speaker 1: I just yeah. Anyways, Um, I definitely jerked it to
- 56:08Speaker 1: zac Efron, though, like when I was You know, who
- 56:12Speaker 1: I was obsessed with was the girl who was a
- 56:15Speaker 1: dancer and she had that one line where she went,
- 56:17Speaker 1: I loved I love to pop and lock and dance
- 56:21Speaker 1: and break. I just kind of active on TikTok. I
- 56:26Speaker 1: don't know. I don't know what you're referring to, because
- 56:28Speaker 1: I actually have never seen it. I have seen the sequel.
- 56:31Speaker 1: You've never seen it? No, I never. I told you.
- 56:33Speaker 1: In high school, I decided I didn't need to watch it,
- 56:35Speaker 1: and so I've never seen That's crazy, Um No, I've
- 56:38Speaker 1: never I've seen it. It is very much like the
- 56:41Speaker 1: stratification of musical Holy sh it, that's a brave thing
- 56:46Speaker 1: to you know, like but not it's not very gay. No,
- 56:51Speaker 1: it's not. And Zach Efron is in it, which is
- 56:53Speaker 1: crazy and straight I know, but he is a twink,
- 56:57Speaker 1: he's like, but he is the straightification of musical theater culture. Yeah,
- 57:02Speaker 1: but that's so confluting. Hello, have you seen you've seen
- 57:06Speaker 1: the Greatest Showman? I guess what I'm yeah, because I
- 57:08Speaker 1: have many times. I watched it on like every time
- 57:11Speaker 1: I go into plane, I watched The Greatest Showman. I'm
- 57:13Speaker 1: obsessed with it. I think we should so good and
- 57:15Speaker 1: we should take that out just for credibility. No, I
- 57:18Speaker 1: love the Greatest show, and I'm not ashamed to say
- 57:22Speaker 1: I've never seen it. Um, you will cry when you
- 57:25Speaker 1: watch it. You know, musicals can do that to me.
- 57:27Speaker 1: I wouldn't be surprised. But I have to say. What
- 57:30Speaker 1: I mean to say is that this movie is unfortunately
- 57:35Speaker 1: gay culture of that generation. Like gay men loved this,
- 57:39Speaker 1: and and and gays were horny for zac Efron. He
- 57:43Speaker 1: was a thought. It was that teen girls were horny
- 57:47Speaker 1: for no gay guys too closeted gay men. I think
- 57:52Speaker 1: we're this was a cataclysm and and that and this
- 57:56Speaker 1: was an unprecedented heart throb that entered the culture at
- 57:59Speaker 1: the time. Time we had been in a desert. We
- 58:01Speaker 1: it even years since Jonathan Taylor Thomas, you know what
- 58:04Speaker 1: I mean. Yeah, yeah, it was very it was very
- 58:08Speaker 1: tiger beat. Um. But I just I think I actually
- 58:11Speaker 1: had a problem with high school musical because it's all
- 58:15Speaker 1: about these like the popular kids being like wait, actually
- 58:19Speaker 1: singing dancing is kind of cool, and like the villains
- 58:24Speaker 1: of the movie are the theater girls are actually Tisdale
- 58:28Speaker 1: and her fag brother, which I think is wrong, and they,
- 58:32Speaker 1: to me are the actual heroes of high school musical.
- 58:37Speaker 1: And I would like a village in origin story about Sharpey.
- 58:40Speaker 1: Let me tell you if there's one. I want her
- 58:42Speaker 1: Joker origin story. I would like to hear who was
- 58:46Speaker 1: styling actually Tisdale for these red carpets, because that I
- 58:49Speaker 1: think she was styling herself. I think that you think,
- 58:53Speaker 1: I don't know? Can we can we can we look
- 58:55Speaker 1: at some of these just like she has reacted to
- 58:58Speaker 1: some of them on TikTok. Really look feather boas studded belts.
- 59:03Speaker 1: We have some boot cut jeans. This is actually skirt
- 59:06Speaker 1: over jeans. Yes, skirt over jeans culture that was huge though,
- 59:11Speaker 1: Lindsay Lohan, Hillary Duff, like the tiny piano purse. Listen,
- 59:17Speaker 1: this is this is a smile like she's on so
- 59:20Speaker 1: much riddlin and I think we have to you know,
- 59:25Speaker 1: they all were, you know, every High School Musical cast
- 59:29Speaker 1: member was getting Judy Garland was getting the Judy Garlands special.
- 59:36Speaker 1: Like when they weren't on set, they were in hamster
- 59:38Speaker 1: wheels getting electric shops. I have to say, okay, listen
- 59:45Speaker 1: what Ashley Tisdale is doing on the Red carpet is
- 59:47Speaker 1: actually so brave because this is post Libby lu said,
- 59:51Speaker 1: you know I had to do it to I'm pretty
- 59:53Speaker 1: sure Limited Too had already descended in the could this
- 59:57Speaker 1: is Justice era? High School Musical? I I did see
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: the sequel, I've never seen the third one, which was
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: released in movie theaters. And then High School Musical is
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: the reason we have Olivia Rodrigo. I was as she
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: broke out because of the show High School Musical, the
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: musical of the series, which is actually I think a
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: brilliant which I think. That's what I've what I've gleaned
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: is that it's a show about a school doing a
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: production of high school musical at their school. Yes, which
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: is and it's maybe the school where they shot High
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: School Musical. But how does that have multiple the metal Layer?
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: Have you watched it ever? Okay today, I'd be curious
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: to know, like how how it look? You were You're
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: you're a little what a little Olivia Rodrigo fans called.
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: I like her music. I'm not going to watch High
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: School Musical the musical the series. Look, I don't know
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: how deep, I don't know how deep the roots of
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: your fandom are. Sometimes you really you really surprised me
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: with But I do remember last year when Good for
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: You came out and she only had like two songs
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: on Spotify. If you were listening to her and like
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: after Good for You, it would go to the High
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: School Music series songs, so I definitely heard the first
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: like ten seconds of them by accident, by accident, also
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: High School Musical. Give us Vanessa Hudgens and I am
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: of Vanessa Hudgens Truther. Of course, of course people are

- 1:01:21Speaker 1: really love hearing all of your calls, and please keep
