- 0:00Speaker 1: The Men's College World Series continues through June twenty second,
- 0:03Speaker 1: exclusively on ESPN.
- 0:06Speaker 2: Amber and I in we landed and my husband took
- 0:09Speaker 2: a call.
- 0:10Speaker 3: It has to sound.
- 0:11Speaker 4: Crazy because nobody, you know, people don't know what these where.
- 0:14Speaker 5: Sitting to your husband and he's talking about fraternity.
- 0:16Speaker 4: Tests, right, like the crazy stuff that that would be
- 0:19Speaker 4: off and that would be entertaining drama.
- 0:22Speaker 6: This guy, this dude was talking about like shoes and whatnot.
- 0:25Speaker 5: I'm like, stop, shut up.
- 0:28Speaker 3: Maybe shoes were his business.
- 0:30Speaker 1: Amber, Indiana Weaken exist seventieston on ESPN Radio, having Kanty
- 0:37Speaker 1: and Michelle are unsportsman Life.
- 0:39Speaker 7: Twenty years ago this month, the Miami Heat won their
- 0:41Speaker 7: first championship. In the middle of the locker room, there
- 0:44Speaker 7: was this big circle. It was covered and they had
- 0:46Speaker 7: this whole mantra fifteen. Shrump and pat Riley had these
- 0:49Speaker 7: cards that are motivational tokens and they would put them
- 0:52Speaker 7: in this thing like every day, but they would cover
- 0:54Speaker 7: it so we couldn't see it. That was their mantra
- 0:55Speaker 7: fifteen Shrump.
- 0:56Speaker 3: Wasn't that the plot?
- 0:57Speaker 1: The Major League unsportsman Like Morning, starting at six Eastern
- 1:01Speaker 1: on ESBN Radio and on ESBN two.
- 1:06Speaker 8: Don't mis's a single hour of a single day of

- 1:22Speaker 6: post office in College Station.
- 1:25Speaker 5: Welcome, Hen, thanks for big with us.
- 1:27Speaker 6: It is all Willie Wednesday, Scott Clindenon will be here.
- 1:31Speaker 6: We'll have some College World Series stuff. Mallory is here.
- 1:34Speaker 6: We've got a ton of stuff to catch up on
- 1:37Speaker 6: in the entertainment world. We're playing a game at the
- 1:43Speaker 6: College World Series in Omaha. Right now. North Carolina, which
- 1:49Speaker 6: will advance with a win over West Virginia to the
- 1:53Speaker 6: final series, is leading the Mountaineers twelve to six. That
- 1:58Speaker 6: sounds pretty good, but they were leading twelve to one.
- 2:02Speaker 6: West Virginia scored five in the seven to make it
- 2:05Speaker 6: twelve to six. There's one out in the bottom of
- 2:07Speaker 6: the eighth inning right now, and again, a win puts
- 2:11Speaker 6: North Carolina in the Championship Series against either Oklahoma or Georgia.
- 2:19Speaker 6: Georgia has to beat the Sooners twice and they may
- 2:25Speaker 6: be able to do that, although I don't know if
- 2:27Speaker 6: they can pitch as well as they pitched against the Longhorns.
- 2:31Speaker 6: They gave up one run against Texas in two games.
- 2:35Speaker 6: And we will hear from Georgia coming up here in
- 2:41Speaker 6: just a little bit. The Astros that it gave you
- 2:45Speaker 6: heard here on the zone this afternoon beat the Tigers
- 2:48Speaker 6: four to two. Jordan Alvarez had only one base hit
- 2:53Speaker 6: and only one run batted in. Pania had a two
- 2:59Speaker 6: run homer in that game, again four to the final
- 3:04Speaker 6: for the Astros. Lambert gets the win. Last night, the
- 3:09Speaker 6: Rangers gave up a bunch of runs in the first
- 3:13Speaker 6: inning from Kumar Rocker. He is two and six and
- 3:22Speaker 6: he cannot get out of first innings. That's not good
- 3:25Speaker 6: news for the Astros. To the Rangers, they lose to
- 3:30Speaker 6: the Twins twelve to two. They are not playing today.
- 3:35Speaker 6: Why are they not playing on a Wednesday? Because England
- 3:40Speaker 6: and Croatia are playing soccer at the Jerry World Stadium
- 3:48Speaker 6: this afternoon, so they didn't figure they could do that
- 3:52Speaker 6: and wisely decided not to schedule a game today. Let's see.
- 4:03Speaker 6: Josh Holly, a senator from Missouri, has sent a letter
- 4:09Speaker 6: to MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred expressing concern about issuing a
- 4:17Speaker 6: warning against three San Francisco Giant players for publicly expressing
- 4:24Speaker 6: their Christian faith during Pride Month. Holly has asked Manfred
- 4:31Speaker 6: to give him a complete copy of the uniform regulation
- 4:37Speaker 6: under which the Giants' pitchers were warned, a list of
- 4:42Speaker 6: every instance over the last five seasons in which the
- 4:46Speaker 6: league warned, find or disciplined a player or club under
- 4:50Speaker 6: that regulation. Any league or club policy, communication, or practice
- 4:56Speaker 6: concerning the inclusion or exclusion of players from team controlled
- 5:01Speaker 6: media or promotion on the basis of their religious beliefs,
- 5:05Speaker 6: Any policy, directive or expectation governing whether players are required, encouraged,
- 5:11Speaker 6: or expected to wear Pride Nightcaps, jerseys, or other themed apparel,
- 5:19Speaker 6: and all approvals authorizations. Are directives by which the League created, permitted,
- 5:25Speaker 6: or arranged the display of Black Lives Matter, United for
- 5:29Speaker 6: Change or comparable messaging on jerseys, mounds, and equipment, and
- 5:35Speaker 6: any guidance by which the league relaxed its equipment rules
- 5:39Speaker 6: to allow players to display social or political messages. Hawley
- 5:48Speaker 6: said he expects all of that by day after tomorrow,
- 5:54Speaker 6: and by the way, good on him. Ed Hargut has
- 5:59Speaker 6: been selected in the induction to the twenty twenty six
- 6:03Speaker 6: Southwest Conference Hall of Fame in August. A three year
- 6:07Speaker 6: letterman and quarterback for the Aggies led them to the
- 6:11Speaker 6: Cotton Bowl and a win over Alabama. The other inductees
- 6:16Speaker 6: include by School, Barry Foster and Arkansas, Dennis Gentry at Baylor,
- 6:21Speaker 6: Lily de'anoon at Houston, Candice Lessmeinster at Rice, Kevin Robinsen
- 6:27Speaker 6: at SMU, Corby Robertson at Texas, Raymond Stewart at TCU,
- 6:32Speaker 6: and Robert Hall, the former quarterback at Texas Tech. The
- 6:37Speaker 6: US Golf Association says it's taking extreme measures to make
- 6:42Speaker 6: sure playing conditions at the US opened at Shinacock don't
- 6:47Speaker 6: resemble those of prior tournaments there. USGA Chief of Championships
- 6:53Speaker 6: John Budenhammer revealed that there will be slower green speeds,
- 6:58Speaker 6: whole locations that will take into account unpredictable and strong winds,
- 7:05Speaker 6: and light watering of the putting surfaces between morning and
- 7:10Speaker 6: afternoon rounds. It will be tough enough, says Bodenheimer. We
- 7:15Speaker 6: have pulled every lever we can to make it fair. Meanwhile,
- 7:21Speaker 6: the proposed golf ball rollback spearheaded by the USGA and
- 7:26Speaker 6: the RNA, will take place as a single date implementation
- 7:32Speaker 6: in January of twenty thirty. In a joint statement, they
- 7:37Speaker 6: said through a series of formal feedback processes and numerous
- 7:41Speaker 6: individual stakeholder meetings, the governing bodies agreed on an across
- 7:45Speaker 6: the game change and how golf balls are tested. In March,
- 7:50Speaker 6: they announced it might not implement a new overall distance standard,
- 7:55Speaker 6: which would reduce elite driving distances by fifty yards. Now,
- 8:01Speaker 6: the governing bodies say they had constructive discussions leading to
- 8:08Speaker 6: the outcomes. In January, after a day moving on from
- 8:17Speaker 6: John Tortorella, that Vegas Golden Knights announced today they have
- 8:23Speaker 6: promoted from within Ryan Craig, who coached their minor league affiliate.
- 8:28Speaker 6: Craig is forty four, will be a first time NHL
- 8:32Speaker 6: head coach. He played for three teams in eight years
- 8:36Speaker 6: in the NHL. His playing career ended in twenty seventeen.
- 8:43Speaker 6: Also announced that Serena Williams will team with her sister
- 8:47Speaker 6: Venus to play doubles as a wild card entry in Wimbledon.
- 8:52Speaker 6: Serena is forty four, Venus is forty five they have
- 8:57Speaker 6: won six doubles tie between them and twelve doubles are
- 9:04Speaker 6: twelve singles titles between them. And it was announced today
- 9:11Speaker 6: that Texas A and M track coach Pat Henry is
- 9:16Speaker 6: retiring after fifty four seasons, twenty two of them in
- 9:21Speaker 6: Aggie Land, in which he produced ten national championships at
- 9:27Speaker 6: nineteen final four finishes, a terrific coaching career and by record,
- 9:36Speaker 6: the most successful coach in any sport in the history
- 9:41Speaker 6: of Texas A and M. It is twelve to seven
- 9:47Speaker 6: in the top of the ninth inning, North Carolina leading
- 9:51Speaker 6: West Virginia. We will keep an eye on that for
- 9:54Speaker 6: you when we come back. We're going to have postgame
- 9:59Speaker 6: res action from last night's Georgia Texas game, in which
- 10:05Speaker 6: the Bulldogs eliminated the Long Horns two to nothing the final,
- 10:10Speaker 6: only the second time Texas had been shut out all season.
- 10:16Speaker 6: Texas pitchers struck out seventeen Georgia batters. Georgia pitchers struck
- 10:22Speaker 6: out eleven Texas batters twenty eight strikeouts in that game,
- 10:28Speaker 6: in which the wind was blowing in at Omaha last night.
- 10:35Speaker 6: All right, we're going to take a break tomorrow. We
- 10:39Speaker 6: have got our Clark Eisenhower out Door Edition, and then Friday,
- 10:46Speaker 6: Ryan Starr will be here. Monday, Dusty will be in
- 10:53Speaker 6: along with Rusty Berson in a pairing we like to
- 10:56Speaker 6: call Dusty and Rusty. And next Tuesday we will not
- 11:01Speaker 6: have a show. We will have Astros Baseball next Tuesday afternoon.
- 11:07Speaker 6: We'll come back after this. For Chad Jones Law.
- 11:11Speaker 10: I'm Chad Jones. We know sports injuries hurt, and so
- 11:14Speaker 10: do injuries from car res. But you didn't sign up
- 11:17Speaker 10: to be in a car wreck with someone who wasn't
- 11:18Speaker 10: paying attention. It was their fault and now you're left
- 11:21Speaker 10: to deal with the consequences. You need to see a doctor,
- 11:24Speaker 10: and you're missing work. Chad Jones Law can help. We've
- 11:26Speaker 10: been helping our neighbors for more than two decades. Stop
- 11:29Speaker 10: getting frustrated with the other side's foot dragging. Remember, don't
- 11:32Speaker 10: get mad.
- 11:33Speaker 6: Get Chad.
- 11:34Speaker 10: Call Chad Jones Law at ninety seven nine five to
- 11:36Speaker 10: nine five five thousand, or go online to Chad Jones
- 11:39Speaker 10: Law dot com.
- 11:41Speaker 1: Having Kanty and Michelle are unsportsman life.
- 11:44Speaker 11: The reason why we exalted Wemby and anointed him prematurely
- 11:48Speaker 11: is because we could not believe the intention that came
- 11:52Speaker 11: out of this twenty two year old. But when you're
- 11:54Speaker 11: not speaking to the media at points during this run,
- 11:57Speaker 11: and when you're not shaking the hand of your opponent
- 12:00Speaker 11: after they win, that shows your immaturity.
- 12:03Speaker 6: You have to be better unsportsman like.
- 12:06Speaker 8: Listen in weekday mornings from Fine to Adam is Zone
- 12:09Speaker 8: eleven AM and ninety three point seven FM.
- 12:13Speaker 12: Yesterday, all my trouble seems so far away.
- 12:24Speaker 13: Now it looks as though they're here to stay.
- 12:29Speaker 14: Oh, I believe, And yesterday.
- 12:35Speaker 3: Suddenly I am not half the man I used to be.
- 12:44Speaker 6: There's a shadow hanging over me. Yesterday came suddenly it
- 12:54Speaker 6: is all Willie Wednesday. We thought we'd throw that one
- 12:56Speaker 6: in because tomorrow is Paul McCartney's eighty fourth birthday tomorrow,
- 13:04Speaker 6: so we'll play McCartney tomorrow on the program. We'll play
- 13:08Speaker 6: Willie singing McCartney for that song right there. So we
- 13:12Speaker 6: got that going for us. Scott Clinton and will be
- 13:14Speaker 6: with us here at the bottom of the hour as
- 13:17Speaker 6: he is most Wednesday's Mallory is here. We've got a
- 13:21Speaker 6: lot of entertainment stuff to catch up on, and some
- 13:25Speaker 6: really disturbing entertainment news for you this afternoon, unfortunately. But
- 13:31Speaker 6: first we're going to hear from team Georgia coach Wes Johnson,
- 13:40Speaker 6: Trey Phelps, and also Dylan Vigue, the pitcher. Phelps was
- 13:46Speaker 6: instrumental drove in the first run and then scored the
- 13:49Speaker 6: second run on a short fly ball to left field
- 13:55Speaker 6: after a collision between the Texas shortstop and left fielder
- 14:00Speaker 6: and a very close play at the plate. As it
- 14:03Speaker 6: turned out, it didn't matter because Texas did not score
- 14:07Speaker 6: any runs. Here is Wes Johnson, Trey Phelps, Dilan Vigu.
- 14:12Speaker 6: After the Georgia win last night.
- 14:16Speaker 15: I thought it was a really good game tonight, you know,
- 14:18Speaker 15: very entertaining. He was going to be tough to score.
- 14:20Speaker 15: The conditions, you know, the flags blowing in like they were,
- 14:23Speaker 15: and you know there's some balls he had really hard
- 14:25Speaker 15: that I don't even know if they got to the track.
- 14:29Speaker 5: So it was, you know, you felt like it was
- 14:31Speaker 5: going to be a pitching duel.
- 14:32Speaker 15: You know, their guy came out and was electric for four.
- 14:36Speaker 15: I think he may have had ten nine, ten strikeouts
- 14:39Speaker 15: through four. I can't remember the exact number. I just
- 14:41Speaker 15: we just told our guys we gotta keep battling man.
- 14:43Speaker 15: I mean, it's gonna be it's gonna be tough to
- 14:45Speaker 15: score the night on both sides. I thought Dylan came out,
- 14:49Speaker 15: got us off to a really good start.
- 14:52Speaker 5: He you know, he had eight punches through through four.
- 14:55Speaker 15: And then what Justin Bird was able to do to
- 14:58Speaker 15: come in and just attack, attacked the strike zone, forced contact,
- 15:04Speaker 15: forced early swings on a night, like I said, one
- 15:06Speaker 15: is really really tough to score.
- 15:09Speaker 5: It is going to be the key to that.
- 15:10Speaker 15: And then, you know, as crazy as it sounds, I mean,
- 15:13Speaker 15: we bunted tonight and I think that was our third
- 15:15Speaker 15: true sacrifice on the year. It was just going to
- 15:17Speaker 15: be that kind of night. And then we you know,
- 15:18Speaker 15: we actually scored that second run on a you know,
- 15:21Speaker 15: on a ball that's you know, I don't know, forty
- 15:24Speaker 15: feet behind third on tag play. So I'm just proud
- 15:27Speaker 15: of our guys the way we you know, got in
- 15:29Speaker 15: there and competed, and uh yeah.
- 15:32Speaker 5: Opening up the questions for the student athletes.
- 15:36Speaker 16: Android del College Baseball Central Tray, Was there a conversation
- 15:39Speaker 16: with any of the coaches after your first two at
- 15:41Speaker 16: bats going into the bat into in the fifth against Harrison.
- 15:46Speaker 14: No, Sarah wasn't. We was talked to me before the
- 15:48Speaker 14: game and he said, no matter what, whether you're five
- 15:51Speaker 14: or five h for five, no matter what happens, I
- 15:53Speaker 14: just want to see you have fun. And I just
- 15:55Speaker 14: kept that going, whether once I was over two in
- 15:57Speaker 14: two k's it was whatever. It was like, let's go
- 15:59Speaker 14: the get the next step back, keep having fun and
- 16:01Speaker 14: good things will possibly happen. If they don't, they don't,
- 16:03Speaker 14: was just keep having fun.
- 16:08Speaker 17: Anthony dashermjsports dot com Dylan, I guess just first of all,
- 16:13Speaker 17: just when did you learn you were getting to start today?
- 16:15Speaker 17: And obviously you know, since you're a little injury, it's
- 16:18Speaker 17: been a little scuff for you a little bit, but
- 16:20Speaker 17: talk about overcoming that today that Bruce owned you, she
- 16:22Speaker 17: into and just pitching the way you did this afternoon.
- 16:26Speaker 18: Yeah, I mean, just to start off, I want to
- 16:28Speaker 18: thank my coaches, the training staff and everything, because I
- 16:31Speaker 18: had quite the bruise on there and they've been tirelessly
- 16:34Speaker 18: working on it and just treatment all times of the
- 16:37Speaker 18: day and stuff getting me back to one hundred percent
- 16:38Speaker 18: for today. And then yeah, just thanking coach Johnson for
- 16:41Speaker 18: giving me the chance and.
- 16:42Speaker 3: Still believe in me.
- 16:43Speaker 18: Obviously the past month hasn't been how me or anybody
- 16:47Speaker 18: else would have wanted it to go for me, but
- 16:49Speaker 18: just to have Coach Johnson's belief in me like that
- 16:52Speaker 18: ignites a flame in me and gives him that belief
- 16:54Speaker 18: like he told me pregame like this is why you're
- 16:56Speaker 18: here for these big moments like that, and just having
- 16:58Speaker 18: his belief and his like him having my back really fired,
- 17:01Speaker 18: like my confidence and stuff.
- 17:06Speaker 19: No being a eleven point seven question for Dylan uh
- 17:09Speaker 19: the starting pitching this weekend so far, I think it's
- 17:11Speaker 19: been the best collective performance out of any other weekend
- 17:14Speaker 19: the season. Twenty one innings, twenty nine strikeouts, just three walks,
- 17:18Speaker 19: and just four earned runs. Just what has it been
- 17:22Speaker 19: about you three that have stepped up in the you know,
- 17:25Speaker 19: on the biggest stage of the season so far?
- 17:28Speaker 20: For sure.
- 17:29Speaker 18: I think for the whole staff, it's just been inevitable
- 17:31Speaker 18: and we've seen it all fall, winter and spring that
- 17:34Speaker 18: like it was gonna click at some point it finally is.
- 17:36Speaker 18: We have such a talented pitch and staff and everybody
- 17:39Speaker 18: like these big games, everybody stepped up to the occasion
- 17:41Speaker 18: so far, So it's just a matter of time. Before
- 17:43Speaker 18: it all came together. Wilson More Homa Hall, World Herold Dylan,
- 17:49Speaker 18: Just what was your approach against this Texas lineup and
- 17:52Speaker 18: what did you have going for you? And that, Uh,
- 17:54Speaker 18: the overall approach was just confidence and belief in every
- 17:57Speaker 18: single pitch. And that's what Coach Johnson has told me
- 17:59Speaker 18: also season and especially going into today, like if I'm
- 18:02Speaker 18: gonna fail, I'm gonna make sure I fail hundred percent
- 18:04Speaker 18: with full beliefs. So when I come off that field,
- 18:06Speaker 18: there's no regrets.
- 18:07Speaker 5: And it's super easy too.
- 18:08Speaker 18: When I have the belief of my coaches and my teammates,
- 18:10Speaker 18: and especially the teammates in the field making all his
- 18:12Speaker 18: plays for me as well.
- 18:16Speaker 16: Trey Kens the gear Atlanta a general constitution.
- 18:18Speaker 21: Can you describe just how tough Harrison was and what
- 18:20Speaker 21: it was he was doing.
- 18:21Speaker 5: I was making it so hard for you guys.
- 18:23Speaker 14: Yeah, I mean he was good, mixing up just different
- 18:26Speaker 14: different motions, being able to throw in and out of
- 18:28Speaker 14: the shadows, and he was just making good spots. And
- 18:31Speaker 14: like Wes said, we were gonna have to be able
- 18:32Speaker 14: to grind out a great picture like that when they're
- 18:35Speaker 14: having a great, great, great guy on the mound putting
- 18:38Speaker 14: things where he wants, and then we're gonna have to
- 18:40Speaker 14: fight as a collective, as a hidden group and just
- 18:43Speaker 14: put the ball in play and not go down as
- 18:44Speaker 14: many times as we did. I mean, I know one
- 18:47Speaker 14: coach Hagin and Emma will turn it around and probably
- 18:50Speaker 14: not have the strikeouts ratio we day today. I'm one
- 18:53Speaker 14: hundred percent confident in that.
- 18:57Speaker 22: Yeah, Daling Kirk Bowls from the Houston Chronicle, You'll take
- 18:59Speaker 22: to hit. Nearly ever pitcher this year been chet out
- 19:02Speaker 22: only one other time? Was it mostly your slider that
- 19:05Speaker 22: was most effective? And how especially were trying to attack
- 19:08Speaker 22: Aiden Robbins and Adrian Rodriguez.
- 19:11Speaker 18: Yeah, slaughter is definitely the most dominant pitch for me,
- 19:14Speaker 18: and I mean it's kind of been my most dominant
- 19:16Speaker 18: pitch all season and stuff. And again, it just comes
- 19:18Speaker 18: down to the belief. It's not necessarily a specific strategy,
- 19:21Speaker 18: but it's just attacking with full belief and confidence. And
- 19:24Speaker 18: I mean that's what we preach as a pitching staff
- 19:26Speaker 18: every single day, is just going out at one hundred percent.
- 19:28Speaker 18: And everybody has different tools and stuff, and my strength
- 19:31Speaker 18: happens to be my slaughterers. So just attacking with full comments.
- 19:34Speaker 22: In that specific.
- 19:37Speaker 20: Uh.
- 19:37Speaker 18: I mean yeah, obviously specific batters have SCLEN reports and stuff.
- 19:40Speaker 18: But there's a certain point too where it becomes, you know,
- 19:42Speaker 18: attacking hitters with your best stuff as well, and it
- 19:45Speaker 18: just happened that some of those hairs had It was
- 19:47Speaker 18: a good matchup for me in terms of sliders.
- 19:49Speaker 5: We're gonna take one more for the student athletes.
- 19:52Speaker 23: Yeah, for both guys, cent Golden Austin American States. And
- 19:55Speaker 23: what kind of win length this do for you guys,
- 19:57Speaker 23: your confidence after such a tough law so you can
- 20:00Speaker 23: steal you first?
- 20:02Speaker 14: Yeah, Well, first, I want to give a shout out
- 20:05Speaker 14: to our OHO Opinion staff for all the postseason. I
- 20:08Speaker 14: mean they've put a great hitting group in their backpack
- 20:11Speaker 14: and just carried us all the way to Omaha where
- 20:13Speaker 14: we are now.
- 20:13Speaker 3: So from we leave that.
- 20:14Speaker 14: There first, and sorry, could you repeat the question again?
- 20:19Speaker 14: I was really slight.
- 20:22Speaker 23: Great. Yeah, what kind of win like this do for
- 20:24Speaker 23: your guys? Your confidence after the OHU loss?
- 20:28Speaker 14: Yeah, just being able to keep the guys to know that, yeah,
- 20:31Speaker 14: we we can do it, We will do We've been
- 20:33Speaker 14: bouncing back all year pass some tough losses. I mean,
- 20:36Speaker 14: if I'm not mistaken. I think we've lost one out
- 20:39Speaker 14: of our lives twenty twenty one or so, so just
- 20:41Speaker 14: being able to stay with it no matter what. I
- 20:43Speaker 14: think we've done a great job at answering the bell.
- 20:47Speaker 5: Yeah for sure.
- 20:48Speaker 18: I mean even just to build on that, Like it's
- 20:52Speaker 18: just we've come together as such a team, especially just Tormat.
- 20:54Speaker 18: I feel like with having a choice backs, whether the
- 20:56Speaker 18: pitchers are having their down day, the hitters are there
- 20:58Speaker 18: all season for us. Whether the hitters are having a
- 21:00Speaker 18: down day now we're picking up for them. That's just
- 21:03Speaker 18: kind of the team dynamic we have, is being there
- 21:05Speaker 18: for each other and coming together and find a way
- 21:07Speaker 18: to win every game.
- 21:08Speaker 16: Position twenty twenty three with us. You have you taken
- 21:12Speaker 16: any experience from that and kind of attributed to this team?
- 21:16Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 21:16Speaker 15: Absolutely, I mean you go back, I mean we lost
- 21:19Speaker 15: a really close game, you know those you know those games,
- 21:22Speaker 15: all these games, you know, we're still pretty vivid in
- 21:23Speaker 15: your mind, and I think we lost, Oh man, you
- 21:27Speaker 15: just got me.
- 21:27Speaker 5: Four three three two something like that.
- 21:29Speaker 15: To to wake and a very similar fashion as we
- 21:32Speaker 15: lost last night. Came back, had to play another conference
- 21:35Speaker 15: opponent in Tennessee again an elimination game was fortunate enough
- 21:39Speaker 15: to you know, to get that one like we did tonight.
- 21:42Speaker 15: And yeah, so you draw on those experiences and you know,
- 21:46Speaker 15: just tell the guys that, yeah, it's been done before.
- 21:49Speaker 15: It's not an impossible task. And but but you're not
- 21:53Speaker 15: gonna you're not gonna win three games or or whatever
- 21:56Speaker 15: about trying to do in one. And so you know,
- 21:58Speaker 15: first step tonight was go out out and play in
- 22:01Speaker 15: a really tough convention conditions against a really really good
- 22:04Speaker 15: pitching staff. And and so we got that one. And
- 22:07Speaker 15: you know, now to Mars, just another day, man, We're just.
- 22:10Speaker 5: Gonna come out.
- 22:10Speaker 15: We get to play baseball again tomorrow and we get
- 22:13Speaker 15: to play nine innings.
- 22:14Speaker 5: Man, So you know what more could you ask?
- 22:17Speaker 6: Wes Johnson. Georgia has moved a little bit closer. They
- 22:23Speaker 6: need to beat Oklahoma twice. This just in trade. Don't
- 22:30Speaker 6: see what yours. Let's do that again. No, wait, this
- 22:40Speaker 6: just did. Nobody will know the difference. North Carolina has
- 22:49Speaker 6: moved into the Championship Series for the College World Series.
- 22:54Speaker 6: They won this afternoon twelve to seven over West Virginia,
- 23:00Speaker 6: so the tar Heels are into the Championship Series. They
- 23:06Speaker 6: await the winner of Georgia Oklahoma. That game is tonight.
- 23:12Speaker 6: Georgia will have to win two to get to the
- 23:16Speaker 6: championship series. Oklahoma has to win one of two. If
- 23:21Speaker 6: they win tonight, they get the extra day's rest as well.
- 23:25Speaker 6: Game one is scheduled for Saturday evening at seven o'clock.
- 23:31Speaker 6: So you got that going for you. Now, let's hear
- 23:35Speaker 6: from the losers. Jim Schlasnagel, pitcher Luke Harrison, and catcher
- 23:44Speaker 6: Carson Teddy.
- 23:46Speaker 12: Oh yeah, congratulations of Georgia. They played really well. I
- 23:50Speaker 12: thought starting pitcher for them did a great job. We
- 23:53Speaker 12: didn't execute our approach against him very well, but he
- 23:56Speaker 12: did a great job and we just couldn't get the
- 23:59Speaker 12: big hit. I thought Luke was obviously outstanding. Sam was outstanding.
- 24:05Speaker 12: You know, balls bounces didn't go our way tonight. But
- 24:09Speaker 12: really proud of our team in the season we had
- 24:11Speaker 12: finishing in Omaha and look forward to being back.
- 24:13Speaker 4: Parson on the tag on that pop fly, did you
- 24:18Speaker 4: put that tag where you wanted it to with him
- 24:20Speaker 4: sliding into your mid or or did you wish that
- 24:22Speaker 4: you would put it out on his hand?
- 24:25Speaker 24: I think that I did what I was trying to
- 24:28Speaker 24: do get the ball and put it on as quick
- 24:30Speaker 24: as I possibly could. I think there are different ways
- 24:32Speaker 24: I could have gone about that, but I think I
- 24:35Speaker 24: did what I was trying to do.
- 24:39Speaker 16: Andreidel College Baseball Central Luke. I talked to Coach Wiener
- 24:42Speaker 16: on Thursday, and he said that this staff was anchored
- 24:45Speaker 16: by you, and you're on his mount rushmore favorite pitchers
- 24:47Speaker 16: still have worked with and favorite players that have coached.
- 24:50Speaker 16: What does it mean to get that high regard from
- 24:52Speaker 16: Coach Wiener and have worked with him these last few years.
- 24:56Speaker 25: I mean, Max has been very, very influential in my life,
- 24:59Speaker 25: very grateful for everything he's done for me and just
- 25:01Speaker 25: believing in me at times when I didn't believe in myself.
- 25:05Speaker 25: And you know, as far as the leadership stuff goes,
- 25:08Speaker 25: I just try to set a good example for the
- 25:10Speaker 25: younger guys. As the older guy in the room and
- 25:13Speaker 25: the guy who's been a long horn for five years,
- 25:14Speaker 25: you know that that's my job is to, you know,
- 25:17Speaker 25: show him what it's like to be a long horn.
- 25:18Speaker 25: And you know, I'll never get to wear this uniform again,
- 25:21Speaker 25: but I'll be a long run for the rest of
- 25:23Speaker 25: my life.
- 25:24Speaker 23: Cedra Golden Austin, American States Carson, what was their starter
- 25:27Speaker 23: able to do to keep you guys off the base paths?
- 25:32Speaker 24: I think that he just did a good job of
- 25:34Speaker 24: using his pitcheons to his advantage. I thought we swung
- 25:36Speaker 24: at some pictures we shouldn't have and it made him
- 25:39Speaker 24: have a successful life.
- 25:44Speaker 26: David Eckert Horns twenty four to seven for lou What
- 25:48Speaker 26: did it mean for you to get back here under
- 25:52Speaker 26: this you know, kind of new regime, new guys, and
- 25:55Speaker 26: you know, kind of be the first first group to
- 25:58Speaker 26: get back here with the new set up.
- 26:01Speaker 24: Yeah.
- 26:01Speaker 25: I mean I told the guys earlier this year that
- 26:05Speaker 25: if we don't go to them, all my time as
- 26:06Speaker 25: a long Horn as a failure. And I'm glad that
- 26:10Speaker 25: we made it and we're able to come and compete here.
- 26:12Speaker 25: And you know, you get here and you get a
- 26:16Speaker 25: bunch of good teams playing baseball together and you just
- 26:19Speaker 25: kind of go let the chips fall where they may,
- 26:21Speaker 25: and you know, a couple of things didn't go our way,
- 26:24Speaker 25: But very proud of this team and how far we
- 26:27Speaker 25: come to get here, and you know everything it took
- 26:29Speaker 25: from you know, shaking the lineup up to you know,
- 26:32Speaker 25: the pitching, which was, you know, rock solid all year.
- 26:34Speaker 25: It felt like and you know, bitter ending. But you know,
- 26:38Speaker 25: I'll remember this time with a smile forever.
- 26:42Speaker 22: It was this part of your best game as a
- 26:44Speaker 22: long horn. Did you feel and you were racking up
- 26:47Speaker 22: so many strikeouts? What was the key to that tonight?
- 26:50Speaker 25: Yeah, I think just the the moment. You know, it
- 26:55Speaker 25: was big, But I knew that all I had to
- 26:58Speaker 25: do was go give it everything I got. And you know,
- 27:01Speaker 25: I really felt like I gave every ounce of what
- 27:03Speaker 25: I had today and you know, obviously the results were solid,
- 27:07Speaker 25: but weren't able to come out with the win. But
- 27:09Speaker 25: you know, very proud of the way that I competed
- 27:11Speaker 25: personally today. And uh, you know that's something that you know,
- 27:15Speaker 25: when I look back and realized that I went out,
- 27:18Speaker 25: you know, with my best game, you know, I could
- 27:21Speaker 25: be grateful for that.
- 27:22Speaker 16: It's your perspective on the play in center field and
- 27:24Speaker 16: the subsequent review, as well as maybe the ramifications of
- 27:28Speaker 16: reviewing what is a catch and what isn't a catch
- 27:30Speaker 16: in baseball.
- 27:32Speaker 12: Uh well, I think all catch non catches should be reviewed,
- 27:36Speaker 12: whether that's in the infield or the outfield. I think
- 27:38Speaker 12: that's something we can we can change. I obviously, you know,
- 27:43Speaker 12: you can't go out and argue. There wasn't really anything
- 27:45Speaker 12: to argue. I don't know what what did they say
- 27:48Speaker 12: on TV? They didn't survive the catch or something like
- 27:49Speaker 12: that basically, So you know, when I saw the replay,
- 27:52Speaker 12: I can see where it could go both ways pretty much.
- 27:57Speaker 12: But that's just the breaks I mean we had. We
- 27:58Speaker 12: didn't had that, and then you had the bleeder through
- 28:00Speaker 12: the right side. So it wasn't our night. We know,
- 28:03Speaker 12: we we pitched and played defense well enough to win
- 28:05Speaker 12: this game. We just did an extcute well on offense
- 28:07Speaker 12: and and George's pitching was outstanding.
- 28:12Speaker 22: Kirk Bowls from the Euston Chronicle. How big did you
- 28:15Speaker 22: feel like that first inning was when maybe he had
- 28:17Speaker 22: dinning on the ropes a little bit and just kind
- 28:20Speaker 22: of the struggles of your top three hitter?
- 28:22Speaker 12: Yeah, I think, uh yeah, we had you know they
- 28:28Speaker 12: vigues that how you say it, vig Yeah, I mean
- 28:30Speaker 12: he most of his starts, you know, he kind of
- 28:32Speaker 12: opens for him so if he get if he gets
- 28:34Speaker 12: it going, then they'll leave him in there a little bit.
- 28:36Speaker 12: They had the bullpen up and rolling in the first inning,
- 28:38Speaker 12: and you know, we had a good guy at the
- 28:40Speaker 12: plate and Mendoza uses the right side of the field
- 28:42Speaker 12: really well, uh, he just chased to pitch off the plate.
- 28:46Speaker 12: So yeah, I mean that's you know, we talk about
- 28:49Speaker 12: you know, two out hitting. You know, we had we
- 28:50Speaker 12: scored eight runs with two outs yesterday and uh, you know,
- 28:54Speaker 12: if we get if we get a bleeder in the
- 28:56Speaker 12: fall in there, then then maybe it's a different ballgame.
- 28:59Speaker 12: And certainly they would have gone on the bullpen quicker,
- 29:01Speaker 12: I know. But then we let him get confident and
- 29:03Speaker 12: then he started making better pitches and we kept chasing
- 29:06Speaker 12: now the strike zone. So yeah, in these games with
- 29:09Speaker 12: two great teams, it's those little moments change it.
- 29:13Speaker 6: All right, Texas out, Georgia is still in. They need
- 29:17Speaker 6: to beat Oklahoma twice. And do we need to re
- 29:22Speaker 6: emphasize that Georgia just owns Texas especially. I think they
- 29:31Speaker 6: beat Texas in basketball this year too. I'm pretty sure
- 29:34Speaker 6: that happened even when they weren't very good. They owned
- 29:39Speaker 6: the Longhorns. Sart can't beat Kirby Smart and Schlats couldn't
- 29:48Speaker 6: beat Georgia in baseball in Omaha, they got outscored nine
- 29:52Speaker 6: to one in the two games, one run from a
- 29:56Speaker 6: pitching staff. Frankly that I mean, they didn't come in
- 30:00Speaker 6: with a lights out reputation, but against Texas there were
- 30:06Speaker 6: lights out in both of those games. We're gonna take
- 30:11Speaker 6: a break. We're gonna be joined by Scott clintenon. We've
- 30:16Speaker 6: got some topics here. North Carolina is into the finals
- 30:21Speaker 6: and tonight Georgia Oklahoma in Omaha and the series. The
- 30:29Speaker 6: best of three Championship series schedule for Saturday, Sunday and
- 30:35Speaker 6: if necessary, Monday in the best two out of three. Hey,

- 33:55Speaker 13: the family.
- 33:58Speaker 6: I guess that is all Welly wins Day. A number
- 34:01Speaker 6: of years ago, you might remember that Dan Rather had
- 34:05Speaker 6: his own personal protests when he was anchoring the CBS
- 34:09Speaker 6: News because like the US Open, tennis had gone long,
- 34:15Speaker 6: or some sporting event had gone long, and Dan was
- 34:18Speaker 6: all upset about it. And threw a hissy fit and
- 34:22Speaker 6: locked himself in the bathroom and wouldn't come out, and
- 34:25Speaker 6: there was eight minutes of dead air on the CBS network.
- 34:31Speaker 6: Eight minutes or seven minutes? Google that tray? Would you
- 34:34Speaker 6: Dan rather silence? I don't know. I don't remember how
- 34:45Speaker 6: long it was, but he threw a little temper tantrum.
- 34:48Speaker 6: The reason I'm thinking I'm saying this is because Scotland
- 34:51Speaker 6: Dinnon was not here and was late, and I was
- 34:55Speaker 6: wondering what would happen if there was just dead air,
- 34:58Speaker 6: I mean just complete dead air, and then Scott could
- 35:03Speaker 6: come out with a statement. And how long was that, Trey?
- 35:08Speaker 6: Have you found that? How long he was off the air?
- 35:13Speaker 20: Oh?
- 35:14Speaker 6: Wow, that's longer than I thought. Eighty seven, almost forty
- 35:16Speaker 6: years ago. No, no, Dan Rather when he threw his
- 35:20Speaker 6: little temper tantrum, Oh yeah.
- 35:22Speaker 3: I'm not. I was trying to pool.
- 35:24Speaker 29: I was honoring Scott DeLucia six minutes, Okay, I was
- 35:27Speaker 29: honoring Scott DeLucia Andy by not getting caught up in
- 35:32Speaker 29: a conversation while on this floor.
- 35:36Speaker 6: Okay, Cessna would have been here, he is. He has
- 35:43Speaker 6: been close to being late before I am here. Six
- 35:46Speaker 6: minutes of dead air when Dan threw the little temper
- 35:50Speaker 6: tantrum back at CBS nineteen forty eighty seven. Okay, Trey
- 35:56Speaker 6: looked at me like I was crazy. But do you
- 35:58Speaker 6: even know who Dan?
- 36:00Speaker 5: There is?
- 36:00Speaker 6: Trave you ever heard of Dan? Rather, that's for the best.
- 36:03Speaker 6: I mean, that's fine, it doesn't matter.
- 36:05Speaker 3: He only covered the assassination of JFK in Dallas and.
- 36:09Speaker 6: Tried to steal the film of Zuppruder. By the way,
- 36:14Speaker 6: when they were all gathered in an office on Saturday,
- 36:17Speaker 6: once the word got out and that it was going
- 36:20Speaker 6: to be given to one news gathering entity. Rather was
- 36:25Speaker 6: trying to sneak in and steal it. But you know,
- 36:28Speaker 6: we wouldn't expect anything less from him. Okay, you're Astros.
- 36:36Speaker 6: They're rolling now. They've won two in a row over
- 36:39Speaker 6: the Detroit Tigers.
- 36:41Speaker 3: That was the first time in the last six series
- 36:46Speaker 3: that they have won the last game of the series.
- 36:49Speaker 6: Well, most of those games have been on Sunday. They're like,
- 36:52Speaker 6: oh and six on Sundays. Yes, they're like, BYU, they
- 36:57Speaker 6: should refuse to play on Sunday.
- 37:00Speaker 3: Agree with it.
- 37:00Speaker 6: I mean, I'm sorry, We're not gonna play on Sundays anymore.
- 37:06Speaker 6: And not only that, not only did they beat Frambourg
- 37:12Speaker 6: Valdez yesterday, but they won today with Jordan Alvarez having
- 37:21Speaker 6: only one hit and one run bat at it. What's
- 37:24Speaker 6: up with that? He is slumping? Triple Crown. No, he's
- 37:30Speaker 6: not gonna win the Triple Crown. So you don't think
- 37:34Speaker 6: his batting average is gonna.
- 37:35Speaker 30: Stay don't know.
- 37:36Speaker 6: I don't think his RBI account is gonna be high enough.
- 37:39Speaker 3: I think they're going to pitch around him. His batting
- 37:43Speaker 3: average will remain relatively.
- 37:45Speaker 6: Static because of the walks.
- 37:46Speaker 30: Because of the walks, Okay.
- 37:48Speaker 3: The home runs will be the home runs. I don't
- 37:51Speaker 3: think the RBI total will come because they're gonna pitch
- 37:53Speaker 3: around me.
- 37:54Speaker 6: Okay, interesting, I hadn't thought about that.
- 38:00Speaker 3: Do you remember when I said that that first baseman
- 38:03Speaker 3: couldn't play at all for the Houston Astros.
- 38:06Speaker 6: Yeah, you were on him pretty good?
- 38:08Speaker 30: Did I say that?
- 38:09Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 38:09Speaker 3: Was I owning pretty good?
- 38:10Speaker 6: Yeah? Okay, Walker, Christian Walker, christ you wanted him. You
- 38:15Speaker 6: didn't even care if he was traded. You wanted him
- 38:17Speaker 6: to just be given away, given away. He's third in
- 38:20Speaker 6: the American League in RBI with fifty two behind only
- 38:24Speaker 6: Nick Kurtz and jord On Alvarez. He has tied for
- 38:27Speaker 6: fifth in the American League and home runs with eighteen.
- 38:31Speaker 6: He has sixth in total bases with one hundred and
- 38:33Speaker 6: thirty seven, and he's tied for six and extra base
- 38:37Speaker 6: hits with thirty two.
- 38:40Speaker 3: And he's not making any airs at first. He's still
- 38:42Speaker 3: playing first base like he.
- 38:43Speaker 6: And where how many games under five hundred would this
- 38:47Speaker 6: team be if he was if they had listen to you,
- 38:51Speaker 6: because right now there's six under five hundred. How many
- 38:55Speaker 6: games under five hundred would they be without Christian Walker?
- 38:59Speaker 3: Well, considering that you lost, I wanted.
- 39:03Speaker 6: By the way, Christian Walker has not committed an error
- 39:07Speaker 6: in seventy four games and five hundred and twenty two
- 39:11Speaker 6: straight total chances.
- 39:13Speaker 30: Yeah.
- 39:16Speaker 3: I did say they couldn't play defense. Did I say
- 39:18Speaker 3: that day that he couldn't play defense?
- 39:20Speaker 6: You were not talking defensively at all?
- 39:23Speaker 3: No?
- 39:23Speaker 30: I was not.
- 39:24Speaker 3: No, So I'm very happy considering that while.
- 39:27Speaker 6: We're on this, I want this on record, while we're
- 39:29Speaker 6: talking about defense, Jake Berker cannot play defense. He caught
- 39:34Speaker 6: a pop up like in the game, not last night,
- 39:36Speaker 6: but night before after he had dropped a pop up,
- 39:39Speaker 6: which I don't know how many of that makes this year.
- 39:42Speaker 6: But the announcers are like, he caught it, he caught it,
- 39:46Speaker 6: and you know, the Razors are ahead. I think no,
- 39:49Speaker 6: they were behind because it's the Twins. They were behind,
- 39:53Speaker 6: but and it was kind of up against the fence,
- 39:55Speaker 6: you know, by the dugout.
- 39:57Speaker 3: Jake Berger caught the pop up.
- 40:00Speaker 6: I'm going, well, it's a pop up and he's a
- 40:03Speaker 6: major league player to play. Yeah, he's getting paid a
- 40:06Speaker 6: lot of money. Are you supposed to catch pop ups?
- 40:09Speaker 23: Not?
- 40:09Speaker 6: If you're Jake Berger, you're not. And anywhere within the
- 40:14Speaker 6: Rangers infield when the ball goes in the air, you
- 40:18Speaker 6: just hold your breath because not because necessarily the rest
- 40:23Speaker 6: of them have to drop they they can't call the ball.
- 40:29Speaker 6: Kind of like I watched the College World Series the
- 40:32Speaker 6: last two nights or the Texas.
- 40:36Speaker 3: Somebody out there.
- 40:37Speaker 6: Somebody should probably all the time.
- 40:40Speaker 3: But how many times did we see that happen?
- 40:44Speaker 30: How many in the in the eighth.
- 40:46Speaker 6: That was just one of about four that I saw, right, Yes,
- 40:50Speaker 6: with pop ups? I don't know why why is that
- 40:54Speaker 6: so difficult? I don't understand that why that's so difficult?
- 40:59Speaker 6: And you know what it's it's not just the Rangers,
- 41:03Speaker 6: and it's not just the Longhorns. I watch a lot
- 41:06Speaker 6: of baseball. I watch Major League Baseball. I see it
- 41:10Speaker 6: almost every day. It's like into that Little league. I
- 41:15Speaker 6: mean in little league, are you taught to yell out
- 41:18Speaker 6: it's my ball? Yes, and certain positions, right, it's just
- 41:24Speaker 6: you're you're told to look if this guy is going
- 41:27Speaker 6: to catch the ball, right, like the center fielder. He's
- 41:31Speaker 6: got a lot of ground to cover, right. But but
- 41:34Speaker 6: I saw the other night and it maybe George was
- 41:37Speaker 6: that Georgia. Yeah, the left fielders called it and the
- 41:41Speaker 6: guy runs from a right center field all the way
- 41:45Speaker 6: across the field and almost knocks down the left fielder. Yes,
- 41:49Speaker 6: good gosh.
- 41:50Speaker 3: Well the left fielder is camped.
- 41:52Speaker 6: Oh yeah, oh no, he's he's there and he's called
- 41:55Speaker 6: and he hadn't moved for the ball. He's it's in
- 41:58Speaker 6: left field. Yes, I don't get it.
- 42:00Speaker 3: So what are the two out of three things that
- 42:02Speaker 3: can go wrong when a ball is hit on the
- 42:03Speaker 3: infield for the Rangers.
- 42:04Speaker 6: For the Rangers, two out of three.
- 42:06Speaker 3: Two out of three. It's not the FOURD pass two
- 42:08Speaker 3: out of.
- 42:09Speaker 6: Three, that's correct. For the first thing that happens is
- 42:12Speaker 6: they missed the ball. The second thing that happens, well, no,
- 42:15Speaker 6: there's three out of four. The second thing that happens
- 42:19Speaker 6: is they can't make the throw to first base.
- 42:21Speaker 3: Okay, I didn't count that.
- 42:23Speaker 6: Okay. The third thing that happens is they make the
- 42:26Speaker 6: wrong throw to the wrong base if they catch the ball.
- 42:29Speaker 3: No, that was not what I was thinking.
- 42:31Speaker 6: Or you can collide with the other field with the
- 42:37Speaker 6: Rangers four out of.
- 42:37Speaker 3: Five or bad. Or they can catch it and get
- 42:41Speaker 3: it out.
- 42:43Speaker 6: Yes, that's that's the fifth thing that that generally doesn't
- 42:47Speaker 6: happen with that infield. Oh, it is painful. So I
- 42:51Speaker 6: texted Rusty last night, I said, is it too early
- 42:54Speaker 6: to quit on this team? Because I'm fortunately, I'm watching
- 42:59Speaker 6: the College Series, so I didn't even I didn't watch.
- 43:04Speaker 6: I flipped over twice during commercials for the College World
- 43:08Speaker 6: Series and saw the score, and even flip back and
- 43:12Speaker 6: watch the commercials for the College World Series. That's how
- 43:15Speaker 6: bad it was.
- 43:16Speaker 3: Did the Rangers win last night?
- 43:18Speaker 6: No, they got killed and the rampaging Twins they're on
- 43:22Speaker 6: a huge role right now that won two in a row.
- 43:25Speaker 3: I thought they're still playing the Red Sox.
- 43:27Speaker 6: No, no, they're they're killing the Rangers and Kumar Rocker
- 43:32Speaker 6: can't get out of the first inning. I have in
- 43:35Speaker 6: fact this it's just not fair to blame Kumar Rocker.
- 43:40Speaker 6: This whole team cannot get out of the first all
- 43:43Speaker 6: of them. They can't h de Gram like Big Game night.
- 43:48Speaker 6: They give up. I don't know how many first run
- 43:52Speaker 6: I don't know how many first pitch home runs they've
- 43:54Speaker 6: given up. It is significant, a significant, and I don't
- 44:02Speaker 6: understand it all right, we need a break. Astro's report

- 45:26Speaker 21: The Houston Astros trailed for most of the game against
- 45:28Speaker 21: the Tigers last night, but an eighth inning rally put
- 45:31Speaker 21: the Astros on top final score four to two. Detroit
- 45:34Speaker 21: struck first with an RBI single in the top second.
- 45:36Speaker 21: That would be the only earned run allowed for Hunter
- 45:38Speaker 21: Brown in his first start since late March. Brown finished
- 45:41Speaker 21: the outing with only three hits in one run aloud,
- 45:43Speaker 21: including seven strikeouts through five and two thirds innings. Houston
- 45:47Speaker 21: would tie the game at one in the fifth with
- 45:48Speaker 21: Rayel Delgado scoring off of a pass ball, and then
- 45:51Speaker 21: things went crazy in the eighth as the Tigers used
- 45:53Speaker 21: to sacrifice flying to take a one run lead, but
- 45:55Speaker 21: the Astros did them one better with the bases loaded,
- 45:58Speaker 21: two RBI single from Delgado again followed by a fielder's
- 46:01Speaker 21: choice play to score Joey Loperfido Josh Hader would come
- 46:04Speaker 21: on for his third save of the year and secure
- 46:06Speaker 21: the win for Houston. Game three will be a rubber
- 46:08Speaker 21: match for the series. First pitch set for one ten

- 47:01Speaker 3: A few old dreamsmes that I.
- 47:04Speaker 29: Can't you.
- 47:07Speaker 6: Who by my memory things that used to be from
- 47:16Speaker 6: the IRS tapes? Who buy my memories? It's all Wellie Wednesday,
- 47:23Speaker 6: Scott Clint Diennon is here with us before we leave
- 47:28Speaker 6: Major League Baseball. Uh, I'm beginning to think that five
- 47:35Speaker 6: hundred may keep any team in this division race.
- 47:41Speaker 3: In this September, CBS Sports does a.
- 47:45Speaker 6: Projection, okay of everything. Ever, every time I think Seattle,
- 47:50Speaker 6: may you know, is probably the best team still, they're
- 47:53Speaker 6: going to run away with it. They can't. The Astros can't.
- 47:56Speaker 6: They just they're like six and four in their last
- 47:59Speaker 6: ten that they were five and five before they won
- 48:01Speaker 6: two in a row against Detroit. The Rangers can't. They
- 48:05Speaker 6: got to five hundred and celebrated and I have lost
- 48:08Speaker 6: three in a row.
- 48:10Speaker 3: So they say that Seattle is gonna win eighty seven games.
- 48:15Speaker 6: Okay, so that's a little bit over five hundred.
- 48:18Speaker 3: They say that the Athletics are gonna win seventy eight games, okay.
- 48:23Speaker 3: They say the Texas Rangers are gonna win eighty.
- 48:25Speaker 6: One games, perfect five hundred.
- 48:28Speaker 3: And that the Houston Astros are gonna win seventy seven.
- 48:32Speaker 30: Games and before okay, and then it's.
- 48:34Speaker 3: Gonna be the Angels at sixty seven.
- 48:38Speaker 6: Okay.
- 48:40Speaker 3: I think they're low on the Astros me too.
- 48:44Speaker 6: I've said I thought the Astros are the only team
- 48:47Speaker 6: capable of challenging to win this division. They've got now,
- 48:52Speaker 6: they have a hundred brown back who pitched well last
- 48:55Speaker 6: night apparently, and they're getting some people healthy.
- 49:00Speaker 3: Right, yes, and her Diaz caught oh okay, caught, I
- 49:05Speaker 3: mean caught Hunter Brown.
- 49:07Speaker 30: Okay, so he came off the d L the same time.
- 49:09Speaker 6: Okay, So you.
- 49:10Speaker 3: Are starting to get some of those players back.
- 49:12Speaker 30: Yeah.
- 49:13Speaker 6: The Rangers are just the opposite, so that all their
- 49:16Speaker 6: injuries now have been since the Astros are getting healthy. Yeah,
- 49:21Speaker 6: but Cory Segers spent more time on the il than
- 49:25Speaker 6: he has on the field in the last three years.
- 49:27Speaker 6: So no big surprise.
- 49:30Speaker 30: And what's his batting average, Well.
- 49:32Speaker 6: It's under two hundred I think, okay, yeah, I think
- 49:35Speaker 6: it's under two hundred. Evan Carter is also on the IL.
- 49:40Speaker 6: He's under two hundred. Watt Langford came back and he's
- 49:46Speaker 6: been okay since he came back. They're missing Helman got
- 49:52Speaker 6: his hand broken on a pitch, so he's out significant time.
- 49:58Speaker 6: So they were playing a second base been in left
- 50:00Speaker 6: field the other night. No, it's not good.
- 50:04Speaker 3: Is that the one who caught the ball?
- 50:06Speaker 6: Uh? He can actually probably catch better.
- 50:10Speaker 3: But somebody got put in for him on the infield
- 50:12Speaker 3: that came.
- 50:15Speaker 6: You know, I don't think they have anybody with a
- 50:18Speaker 6: regular position on the infield except for Josh Young at
- 50:21Speaker 6: third base. Burger plays first base more than any other player,
- 50:27Speaker 6: but he's terrible. And then between second and shortstop, they've
- 50:32Speaker 6: they've really played a lot of different play.
- 50:35Speaker 30: D first baseman too.
- 50:40Speaker 6: I don't know who that ranger.
- 50:44Speaker 30: It was good like with the with the Jack Peterson,
- 50:47Speaker 30: Jack Peterson. Yeah, Jack Peterson isn't good.
- 50:50Speaker 6: He hasn't played hardly any defense. He's played a little
- 50:54Speaker 6: bit of outfield, but he didn't play much of that well,
- 51:00Speaker 6: I will say this, Jock Peterson is over the Mendoza line,
- 51:04Speaker 6: but he wasn't last year.
- 51:05Speaker 3: That's good.
- 51:06Speaker 6: So he's actually been hitting a little bit. He doesn't
- 51:10Speaker 6: hit it a lot, but when he does hit it,
- 51:12Speaker 6: it goes a long way. So I don't know, it's
- 51:17Speaker 6: it's just it's not good. They're not They're not real
- 51:21Speaker 6: fun to watch right now. I'm a little discouraged if
- 51:23Speaker 6: you can't tell. And and you know, and I just
- 51:26Speaker 6: told you that games they they could possibly every every
- 51:34Speaker 6: time they get below you know, five hundred, they kind
- 51:37Speaker 6: of climb back and you go, hey, you know, they
- 51:40Speaker 6: look good tonight. It's one of those things. It's it's
- 51:43Speaker 6: like night to night. You know, they're not very good,
- 51:45Speaker 6: but but you know that they're good enough.
- 51:47Speaker 3: But we hadn't even talked about the wild card. This
- 51:50Speaker 3: is why Bud Frick seely created the created the system.
- 51:55Speaker 6: Maybe so oh, which reminds me, do you want to
- 51:58Speaker 6: hear the wildcat standing?
- 51:59Speaker 20: Yeah?
- 51:59Speaker 30: Go ahead?
- 52:00Speaker 3: Okay, the Athletics have the third wild card.
- 52:02Speaker 6: Okay, all right, okay.
- 52:05Speaker 3: The Blue Jays, the Rangers, the Twins, the Astros, and
- 52:10Speaker 3: the Orioles are within two and a half of them.
- 52:12Speaker 6: Okay, so there's a lot of teams fighting for it. Yes,
- 52:18Speaker 6: some of those teams are gonna have to make a decision.
- 52:20Speaker 6: Are they buyers or sellers? Even though they're in the
- 52:23Speaker 6: quote hunt for the wild card? Everybody's a buyer, I
- 52:27Speaker 6: don't think so.
- 52:27Speaker 3: Would you trade anybody of any importance.
- 52:29Speaker 30: For the Rangers?
- 52:30Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 52:31Speaker 3: Do you have players? I'm saying to.
- 52:33Speaker 5: Get a lot or two?
- 52:36Speaker 6: Do you mean for the run to buy?
- 52:39Speaker 5: Oh?
- 52:39Speaker 6: No, they're gonna be sellers. No, No, they're gonna be sellers.
- 52:43Speaker 6: They they made that decision. But with the season started,
- 52:47Speaker 6: with their with their coaching higher well yes, a with
- 52:51Speaker 6: their coaching higher coaching fire. Yeah, and and also uh,
- 52:57Speaker 6: with their payroll. They they made that decision. I think
- 53:00Speaker 6: that decision has been made.
- 53:02Speaker 3: You're in the mix.
- 53:03Speaker 6: I think there could be sellers.
- 53:05Speaker 3: How can you be a seller?
- 53:06Speaker 6: The problem is, well, that's the question who they're going
- 53:09Speaker 6: to sell. You know, they could sell pitching for sure,
- 53:12Speaker 6: everybody needs pitching, you know, they could They could sell
- 53:15Speaker 6: to Gram and they could sell Nate.
- 53:17Speaker 30: And I thought Nate was like unsellable.
- 53:21Speaker 6: He has a yes he has he would have both
- 53:24Speaker 6: have the they'd have to agree to it for sure.
- 53:27Speaker 6: They can't just get rid of them. They've got contract
- 53:31Speaker 6: I mean language in their contracts.
- 53:33Speaker 30: I mean, uh, would you sell to the A's.
- 53:37Speaker 6: No, No, I wouldn't sell anybody within my division. Why
- 53:40Speaker 6: would you do that?
- 53:41Speaker 30: I don't know.
- 53:42Speaker 6: No, I don't think so. No. I did want to
- 53:47Speaker 6: mention this, and I mentioned it at the top before
- 53:49Speaker 6: coming in. I want to give a shout out again
- 53:53Speaker 6: to Senator Josh Hawley from Missouri, who has sent a
- 53:57Speaker 6: letter to MLB commission Rob Manfred demanding response on a
- 54:08Speaker 6: complete copy of the uniform regulation under which the Giant
- 54:12Speaker 6: pitchers were warned with any internal guidance, governance writing markings
- 54:17Speaker 6: or symbols on player apparel equipment, a list of every
- 54:20Speaker 6: instance in the last five years in which the league
- 54:23Speaker 6: warned to find or otherwise disciplined a player or a
- 54:26Speaker 6: club under that regulation, identifying in each case the message
- 54:31Speaker 6: at issue and the action the league took. Any any league.
- 54:36Speaker 6: This is the commissioner, by the way, who moved the
- 54:39Speaker 6: All Star Game out of Atlanta because of supposed irregular
- 54:43Speaker 6: voting or poor voting rules. This, this guy is just
- 54:50Speaker 6: a total disaster. And I thought it would be hard
- 54:54Speaker 6: to be more woke than the NBA. And I believe
- 54:56Speaker 6: Rob Manfred with his latest little stunt, as become more
- 55:00Speaker 6: woke than the NBA. And I thought that was impossible,
- 55:03Speaker 6: absolutely impossible. But Rob Madford has reached the top of
- 55:07Speaker 6: the list.
- 55:07Speaker 3: You've got to be number one, ship.
- 55:09Speaker 6: And he's number one right now. But this is awesome
- 55:12Speaker 6: and good on Josh Holly for standing up for these
- 55:17Speaker 6: players who would not wear Pride night caps. He said,
- 55:22Speaker 6: any policy, directive, or expectation, formal or informal, governing whether
- 55:28Speaker 6: players are required, encouraged, or expected to wear Pride night caps, jerseys,
- 55:33Speaker 6: or other themed apparel, and whether a player who declines
- 55:37Speaker 6: to do so faces any consequence beyond the league's written rules,
- 55:41Speaker 6: including in plaguing time, roster assignment decisions, club media promotion,
- 55:46Speaker 6: or standing within the organization. And he needs that information
- 55:51Speaker 6: by Friday, so we'll see.
- 55:53Speaker 3: Well, I don't think any of the part about being
- 55:56Speaker 3: disciplined by the club happens. I'm saying inside at the
- 56:00Speaker 3: clubhouse or playing time or anything like that. Okay, I
- 56:04Speaker 3: don't think as any of that is going to happen.
- 56:05Speaker 6: So you think this quote formal warning is for publicity's sake, only.
- 56:10Speaker 30: For publicity sake.
- 56:11Speaker 6: Yeah, I don't care if it is, and it's not
- 56:14Speaker 6: only for publicity's sake.
- 56:16Speaker 3: But it's already been them, which is fine.
- 56:18Speaker 6: Yeah, it is. Hopefully it has already been them, and
- 56:22Speaker 6: and people are upset about it, and I'm upset about it,
- 56:25Speaker 6: and I hope that it leads to some formal things,
- 56:32Speaker 6: especially forcing players to wear uniforms and decals and symbols
- 56:39Speaker 6: that they don't believe in. So hopefully that will be
- 56:43Speaker 6: the least of what happens over this. All right, we
- 56:46Speaker 6: need a break. We'll close out the first hour. Scott
- 56:48Speaker 6: and I will come back. We've got other topics. I
- 56:51Speaker 6: want to remind you that Father's Day is Sunday, if
