way too fun to miss. Benvenuti a 70x80, la rubrica
• 1:17
di 7080 .it che approfondisce i temi trattati
• 1:21
sul portale. Sono con la giornalista Enzo Mauri
• 1:24
che introduce l 'argomento odierno. Buongiorno,
• 1:27
oggi vi parlo di un successo estivo, semplice
• 1:30
e orecchiabile, il successo dell 'estate che
• 1:32
il popolo di vacanzieri si aspetta di ascoltare
• 1:34
sulle spiagge mentre gode del meritato relax
• 1:37
dopo un anno di duro lavoro. Stiamo parlando
• 1:39
di In the Summer Time dei britannici Mango Jerry.
• 1:52
I wrote in sometime, must have been about, I
• 1:54
don't know, end of 68, and I had the melody.
• 1:59
The next day I always had it on my brain when
• 2:01
I went in to work and I wrote the... And to think
• 2:05
that in 1969, when the band signed its first
• 2:09
record contract with the Pai Records, in the
• 2:12
absence of a definitive name, it was called Good
• 2:15
Earth and before that Memphis Luther. But among
• 2:17
the various options there was nothing less than
• 2:19
Duran Duran, perhaps from the character Duran
• 2:21
Duran, antagonist of the film Barbarella of the
• 2:24
year before, a good peace of Simon, Le Bon and
• 2:27
Sochi that should have converged on another.
• 2:29
In the end the choice fell on the Mango Jerry
• 2:32
cat, among the characters For me, I mean, it's
• 2:43
got no chorus. As often happens to great discography
• 2:53
successes, In The Summertime was born by chance.
• 2:55
In 1968 the then 22 -year -old Ray Dorsett, future
• 2:59
leader of the Mungo Jerry, composed it in just
• 3:01
10 minutes, thinking about when, as a young man,
• 3:04
he was on vacation with his parents. You've managed
• 3:14
to get a car, preferably with a top off, you're
• 3:17
cruising around and if you're a guy you're picking
• 3:19
up girls, right? And you can't have a drink and
• 3:22
whatever. Or maybe, or if it's a girl, you get
• 3:24
picked up by a guy that's got the thing. When
• 3:30
in May 1970 the Mungo Jerrys appeared on the
• 3:34
Hollywood Music Festival stage, before Hermès
• 3:37
Rock was kept in the north of Great Britain,
• 3:39
it was evident to all their uniqueness. Next
• 3:41
to the singer Ray Dorsett, with crispy and long
• 3:44
hair, the other members, Mike Cole, Paul King,
• 3:48
Joe Rush and Colin Earle, played among other
• 3:51
curious instruments such as a damagiana and the
• 3:53
washboard, a table originally used to wash the
• 3:56
sink, which later became a percussion instrument.
• 4:15
In the summertime it's become like a commodity.
• 4:17
I wouldn't say, but people don't tend to forget
• 4:20
about the other songs, obviously on a bigger
• 4:21
level. You don't have to say, they forget Name
• 4:24
Manga Jerry, they might even forget the title,
• 4:26
but if you go... Go, oh, go, da -da -da, oh,
• 4:29
I know that one. so it's a good one to have written.
