- 1:07Donna J. Jodhan, LLB, ACSP, MBA: Greetings, everybody. And I'm Donna J.
- 1:11Jordan, your host for the Remarkable World Commentary.
- 1:16And this is my solo podcast for September, my first solo podcast for September.
- 1:23Hope everybody is doing good.
- 1:27So I want to thank everybody for all those who have taken the time to write to me.
- 1:35Those who have taken the time to give me their feedback and tell me what they're
- 1:41thinking. Thank you everybody.
- 1:44So for this month, month of September, my first solo podcast,
- 1:50I want to talk about this topic.
- 1:54All right. One size does not fit all.
- 2:01And I'm praying and hoping that the rest of the world is listening somehow,
- 2:09and that this statement will help others to realize that no one size does not,
- 2:18does not fit all. Right.
- 2:21And yes, it does not fit all.
- 2:24We're all not the same.
- 2:26We're all very unique people in our own way.
- 2:30We're each very unique people in our in our own way.
- 2:35Okay. And why do I say this?
- 2:41One size does not fit all.
- 2:43You cannot use a template to, you know, match or to meet every single
- 2:52situation in a landscape where there are too many different types of situations,
- 2:59there are too many different types of circumstances.
- 3:04When I say one size does not fit all, I mean that in the case of a person with a
- 3:09disability, it is simply not possible to say one size will fit all.
- 3:17Every single person with a disability has a unique requirement and a unique set of
- 3:26needs. Okay. This is a definite, definite mistake that so many of us
- 3:36make, including me at times, but I don't think it applies.
- 3:42I don't think it is appropriate.
- 3:45I don't think it. It's a lack of respect really in many,
- 3:50many ways. Saying one size fits all, one size does not fit all.
- 3:57Okay. It doesn't matter if you are a phone rep or agent or a
- 4:06teacher, a god, a government department, or any other type of entity.
- 4:14One size does not fit all.
- 4:21Too many people. People fall into the trap of thinking that because one is blind or vision
- 4:30impaired, there's only one set of requirements to be done.
- 4:39And they think that because a person is blind or vision impaired,
- 4:45that person has no vision.
- 4:48And that's a very, very, very false statement.
- 4:52The word or the term blind or vision impaired.
- 4:56Sight impaired. A person with sight loss applies to different persons with different
- 5:03types of or different levels of vision loss.
- 5:09So if you say a person who is blind or vision impaired,
- 5:13that person could be someone with functional vision.
- 5:18That is, they can get around on their own, but they need glasses to help them see things
- 5:26at distances or read things close up.
- 5:30Then you have the person with low vision again,
- 5:33can probably see a screen, can probably read a screen,
- 5:36but can only do it reading with special devices and they do it reading very slowly.
- 5:44Then you have the person who has minimal vision,
- 5:49like myself, probably can see light and dark and shadows.
- 5:55And then you have the person with no vision, can't see anything.
- 6:00And I may not even be touching on all of the levels of vision loss,
- 6:06but what I'm trying to say is that when one is told that a person is blind or vision
- 6:12impaired, or a person with sight loss, it does not mean that that person is totally
- 6:19blind. Okay. All right.
- 6:24The there are different levels of vision loss that fall under the category of blind or
- 6:33vision impaired, and it is the same for other types of disabilities.
- 6:41Persons with hearing loss.
- 6:43There are different levels of hearing loss.
- 6:46Loss amongst persons with hearing loss.
- 6:51Okay. I hope I'm making sense or saying it clearly enough.
- 6:55Again, hearing loss applies to a person, applies to different levels of
- 7:05hearing loss, not just one level.
- 7:10So a person may be categorized as a person with hearing loss,
- 7:17but how much hearing loss does this person have?
- 7:22Again, what I'm trying to emphasize here is that one size does not fit all,
- 7:29okay? Each person with a disability is a separate case to be considered.
- 7:39I don't like using the word case, but each person with a disability has a
- 7:45unique need. All right.
- 7:51My story of the month is one that was sent in to us by someone who has used my mental
- 8:00stretch technique to help them out.
- 8:04My stretch technique emphasizes using different senses like sense of smell,
- 8:12sense of hearing, sense of touch, sense of feeling,
- 8:16sense of sight. And for this month, I have someone who has sent in their
- 8:22experience of using my mental stretch to help them as an on
- 8:32line dating victim. This person or this listener inadvertently or
- 8:42unwittingly became a victim of online dating.
- 8:47I guess they went into it with their eyes half closed,
- 8:51or maybe their eyes shut, so to speak, became a victim of online dating
- 8:59because the person who was encouraging them or inviting them to date,
- 9:07did not provide them with the true details, and they ended up almost having to pay a lot
- 9:16of money to this. This almost having to pay quite a bit of money to
- 9:26the person who was inviting them.
- 9:28I can't seem to get the word right now.
- 9:30Perpetrator. That's it.
- 9:32The perpetrator almost, almost got this poor old victim to pay them a
- 9:40bunch of money because they gave them a stress SOS gave them a story that was not
- 9:50true, but the victim had the, you know, was able to deal with it after
- 10:00having sat down, Used our mental techniques and our mental stretch.
- 10:06And, you know, they got their act together, gathered their resources and their thoughts,
- 10:14spoke to some trusted friends, and realized just in the nick of time that
- 10:21the perpetrator was only a perpetrator and no one that had any good intention of dating in
- 10:30a meaningful, committed and open manner.
- 10:36That's my story for this month.
- 10:38Someone who was a victim of online dating and someone who used our mental stretch,
- 10:46which is built on the use of using different senses to help them get out of it.
- 10:54So you use a sense of smell.
- 10:56Sense of touch. Sense of hearing.
- 10:59Sense of feeling. Sense of taste.
- 11:01Sense of sight. Your five senses.
- 11:06This is it for me. For this month.
