- 1:09SPEAKER_06: What's up, fellas?
- 1:10SPEAKER_03: That cool, crisp fall air.
- 1:13SPEAKER_03: Um, feeling good, feeling like football, and just to see all these numbers, all these ranked numbers, 24, 13, number seven, nine, twenty.
- 1:22SPEAKER_03: You know, it's like this is good football when we see all those numbers beside these teams.
- 1:27SPEAKER_04: Sitting at my day job today and listening to uh lame kiff and MP golden press conferences while I was working, being like, oh my god, I'm so into this.
- 1:37SPEAKER_06: Yeah, it's it's gonna be a feud.
- 1:38SPEAKER_06: I mean, the commentaries have already started.
- 1:41SPEAKER_06: Uh, they're they're I I heard from a little burdy they're bringing in additional police from Louisiana to support the events on Oxford, Mississippi.
- 1:47SPEAKER_06: Hopefully, everybody plays nice, just a football game.
- 1:50SPEAKER_06: Um, but yeah, it's gonna be quite the scene.
- 1:53SPEAKER_06: Uh, so yeah, let's so let's get and talk some football.
- 1:56SPEAKER_06: Uh, I'm having a what Mark, what are you drinking over there?
- 1:58SPEAKER_06: What would you what'd you pick up just now?
- 2:00SPEAKER_04: Sprite zero chill, cherry lime flavored is my uh Tuesday night go-to.
- 2:05SPEAKER_06: Yes, I'm drinking a polar seltzer, black cherry, feeling good, feeling good.
- 2:09SPEAKER_06: Darren, what's yourself?
- 2:10SPEAKER_03: With you fellas, uh Canada dry flu fruit splash, zero sugar, zero caffeine, don't fall asleep from boredom as I say that.
- 2:21SPEAKER_03: But it's actually kind of tasty.
- 2:22SPEAKER_03: So school, it's a school night, good school night, Bev.
- 2:25SPEAKER_06: Look at all these responsible podcast hosts over here on a school night being all responsible, not having a great time.
- 2:32SPEAKER_06: That just means that we're gonna be clear-minded and clear and clear of thought when we give you such excellent takes.
- 2:37SPEAKER_06: So you're welcome, listeners.
- 2:39SPEAKER_03: My 22-year-old self wouldn't have been so kind in their assessment of what's going on.
- 2:44SPEAKER_06: My 22-year-old self would give my 43-year-old self a wedgie and say, you deserve it.
- 2:48SPEAKER_06: You earned it.
- 2:50SPEAKER_06: Anyway.
- 2:51SPEAKER_06: Uh, tonight on the docket, uh, Mr.
- 2:52SPEAKER_06: Friends are already laid up.
- 2:53SPEAKER_06: We're gonna do some punter go for it.
- 2:55SPEAKER_06: We got five of them, and then we're gonna talk about 10 games, five games we really love, and of course, the five homers.
- 3:00SPEAKER_06: So, with that, let's just go ahead and jump right in.
- 3:03SPEAKER_06: You guys know the drill, punter go for it.
- 3:04SPEAKER_06: If I'm gonna I'm gonna give you a take, I'm gonna tell you why I like it.
- 3:08SPEAKER_06: If you just decide to subscribe to support, you are of course go going for it with me.
- 3:12SPEAKER_06: You are the coach with the headset.
- 3:14SPEAKER_06: I'm the super uh enthusiastic quarterback.
- 3:17SPEAKER_06: You are making the ultimate decision.
- 3:18SPEAKER_06: Are we punting or are we going for it?
- 3:21SPEAKER_06: Uh, with that, let's go ahead and jump right into your first one.
- 3:25SPEAKER_06: G6 playoff is a two-horse race race.
- 3:29SPEAKER_06: North Dakota State and Boise, and nobody else is close.
- 3:32SPEAKER_06: No other G6 team will make the playoff.
- 3:35SPEAKER_06: If there's two, it'll be those two.
- 3:37SPEAKER_06: Nobody's even really close.
- 3:39SPEAKER_06: Boise is excellent.
- 3:41SPEAKER_06: I'm getting the sneaking suspicion that North Dakota State might be an 11-1, but also excellent team.
- 3:47SPEAKER_06: Sunbelt's not gonna have enough ammo, Max's not gonna have enough ammo.
- 3:50SPEAKER_06: The American's gonna eat itself.
- 3:52SPEAKER_06: We've already kind of seen Memphis and UNLV do that.
- 3:55SPEAKER_06: I I hate to say it, I think the G6 race is over.
- 3:58SPEAKER_06: There's two chance there are two teams that have a chance to get it.
- 4:01SPEAKER_06: I'll put it more bluntly.
- 4:03SPEAKER_06: Give me North Dakota State and the Boise.
- 4:05SPEAKER_06: You can have the field.
- 4:06SPEAKER_06: Punt or go for it.
- 4:11SPEAKER_03: So I'm gonna I'm gonna punt that one, Michael.
- 4:14SPEAKER_03: It is only it is only week three, and I know we saw the mashup that we were waiting for in Memphis and Boise State.
- 4:22SPEAKER_03: Memphis was looking so, so good, and then they got humbled, and that's only two games, right?
- 4:28SPEAKER_03: And so um, so we're only a couple weeks into this thing, and my you know, history of football fandom is just gonna say, got a punt on that.
- 4:38SPEAKER_03: Uh, Vegas is gonna say that yes, Boise is the clear favorite in the G6.
- 4:43SPEAKER_03: Uh, North Dakota State plus 800, they're pretty far away from Boise at plus 230.
- 4:49SPEAKER_03: But the next couple teams are not that far away, actually.
- 4:52SPEAKER_03: So UTSA, I still haven't really watched them with my own eyes, but the Roadrunners are, you know, they're not too far away from North Dakota in the odds.
- 5:02SPEAKER_03: Uh Memphis is right there too.
- 5:04SPEAKER_03: And so Roadrunners, Memphis, New Mexico.
- 5:08SPEAKER_03: Is that the Lobos?
- 5:10SPEAKER_03: Good.
- 5:10SPEAKER_03: New Mexico.
- 5:12SPEAKER_03: Yeah, man.
- 5:12SPEAKER_03: The Lobos and that coach Eck, uh, they could make some noise too, so I gotta punt.
- 5:18unknown: Okay.
- 5:19SPEAKER_04: I'm gonna agree with you, Darren.
- 5:20SPEAKER_04: I was, you know, I I you know, I was surprised.
- 5:23SPEAKER_04: We we solicited out to North Dakota State fans and asked them what they think of their team.
- 5:27SPEAKER_04: Yeah, shout out to Bison fans.
- 5:29SPEAKER_04: Awesome.
- 5:29SPEAKER_04: And they were so negative calling them, like, oh, we're nine and three, oh, we're ten and two.
- 5:35SPEAKER_04: I was like, guys, I love your team more than you do, it sounds like.
- 5:38SPEAKER_04: Or I have more belief in your team than you do right now.
- 5:40SPEAKER_04: Holy cow.
- 5:41SPEAKER_04: Um, but New Mexico is very good, and I think JMU is also very good.
- 5:45SPEAKER_04: JMU doesn't have a tough game on the schedule coming up.
- 5:49SPEAKER_04: I would love to, I mean, I think it's gonna be those two teams at the end, but I don't think it's a two.
- 5:54SPEAKER_04: I think there's at least a three or four team race right now.
- 5:57SPEAKER_04: So I'm gonna punt on that one and say that some of those, some of those other schools might step in.
- 6:02SPEAKER_04: And uh, but I I I do think those are the two front runners, but right behind them are New Mexico and JMU.
- 6:09SPEAKER_04: By the way, UTSA, awesome offense, horrible defense.
- 6:14SPEAKER_06: I feel like I'm talking to my two parents telling them to let me stay out later.
- 6:17SPEAKER_06: And they're both like, no, I don't think so.
- 6:19SPEAKER_06: Not gonna happen.
- 6:20SPEAKER_06: Not in the cards.
- 6:21SPEAKER_06: Number two, but all right, I'm going for it.
- 6:24SPEAKER_06: Number two, Texas Tech will not make the Big 12 title game.
- 6:28SPEAKER_06: Let me tell you why.
- 6:30SPEAKER_06: The red flags are now multiple, they're screaming.
- 6:33SPEAKER_06: Oregon State almost beat them.
- 6:34SPEAKER_06: Uh, I don't, I'm not sure what that was all about.
- 6:37SPEAKER_06: They have two bad quarterbacks.
- 6:38SPEAKER_06: We now know why they were sounding the alarm over Brendan Sorsby.
- 6:41SPEAKER_06: Mr.
- 6:42SPEAKER_06: Hammond is not it.
- 6:42SPEAKER_06: Now that I was talking about playing Thomas Castellanos, I've seen a lot of that guy.
- 6:46SPEAKER_06: He's not very good.
- 6:47SPEAKER_06: The defense isn't nearly as good.
- 6:48SPEAKER_06: There's no Romello Height, there's no David Bailey on that defense.
- 6:51SPEAKER_06: Maybe one emerges, but I don't see it.
- 6:53SPEAKER_06: Uh, I've seen a lot of things that are not going in uh tech-to-tech favor like they were last year.
- 6:59SPEAKER_06: Beyond the point, and Darren, I'm gonna give you credit right now again, pointing out BYU might be the class of this uh conference.
- 7:06SPEAKER_06: So I've right now I'm looking at penciling one of them and the in.
- 7:09SPEAKER_06: But beyond that, I'm seeing a number of teams that I'm not afraid of.
- 7:13SPEAKER_06: If I'm tech if that if I'm that I'm not afraid, if I'm I've seen a lot of teams in the Big 12 that Texas Tech doesn't scare me.
- 7:20SPEAKER_06: Houston, we'll find out on Friday.
- 7:22SPEAKER_06: Kansas State, I like them a lot.
- 7:24SPEAKER_06: Arizona State, despite what happened to Arizona.
- 7:27SPEAKER_06: I think there's a whole bunch.
- 7:28SPEAKER_06: I think we're gonna see something better out of uh Baylor and TCU.
- 7:31SPEAKER_06: Colorado might start 3-0 this week if they beat Northwestern.
- 7:34SPEAKER_06: That's interesting.
- 7:35SPEAKER_06: This is gonna be a classic big the Big 12 has reverted closer and closer to mean.
- 7:39SPEAKER_06: The worst team isn't as bad as they were last year, and the best team, Texas Tech, is not as good as they were last year.
- 7:44SPEAKER_06: There are like seven teams right now, I think, capable of making the conference finals, and I'm just not sure that Texas Tech should be some right-in.
- 7:52SPEAKER_06: Texas Tech will not make the Big 12 title game.
- 7:55SPEAKER_06: Punter, go for it.
- 7:56SPEAKER_03: Go for it.
- 7:57SPEAKER_03: You also missed Utah at the top.
- 7:59SPEAKER_03: There's thank you.
- 8:00SPEAKER_03: There's a bunch of teams.
- 8:02SPEAKER_03: Yeah, there's a bunch of teams that could absolutely play for the title.
- 8:06SPEAKER_03: I think BYU is the top.
- 8:08SPEAKER_03: And yeah, Texas Tech, I think we're gonna find out that they are fakers on Friday night.
- 8:14SPEAKER_03: Um, they don't they're gonna they got the classic.
- 8:17SPEAKER_03: We got two quarterbacks now that Tommy Castellanos is on the squad, which means you got zero quarterbacks.
- 8:24SPEAKER_03: They're gonna try to use them both a little bit, not gonna go well.
- 8:28SPEAKER_03: That's not real football, and they're gonna get exposed.
- 8:35SPEAKER_04: Right, he started there, didn't he?
- 8:37SPEAKER_04: Then Florida State.
- 8:38SPEAKER_04: We saw him play in Charlotteville last year.
- 8:39SPEAKER_04: And then yes, that's right.
- 8:41SPEAKER_04: That's right.
- 8:42SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I still think in order for them not to make the title game, that's gonna be they're gonna have to take two big losses.
- 8:48SPEAKER_04: And I don't see that.
- 8:49SPEAKER_04: I'm gonna go for it.
- 8:50SPEAKER_04: I think they are going to be a part of the um actually, no, I'm gonna punt.
- 8:55SPEAKER_04: I do think that they are going to be a part of the Big 12 championship game.
- 9:00SPEAKER_04: So I'm gonna punt on your take that they won't make it.
- 9:03SPEAKER_06: Fair enough.
- 9:04SPEAKER_06: All right, number three.
- 9:05SPEAKER_06: This is the worst part about me leaving out Utah is Utah is in my next punter.
- 9:09SPEAKER_06: Go for it.
- 9:09SPEAKER_06: Just really blue on that one.
- 9:11SPEAKER_06: Pitt, Missouri, Utah, or Iowa will win their respective conference.
- 9:17SPEAKER_06: I'm liking what I see on Mason Heichel out of Pitt.
- 9:20SPEAKER_06: They are our plucky squad.
- 9:21SPEAKER_06: Outside of Miami, and I think Louisville, I think Pitt might be the third best team.
- 9:26SPEAKER_06: I think they're that they're not that far.
- 9:27SPEAKER_06: Utah, you just said it.
- 9:28SPEAKER_06: They might be the second or third best team right there.
- 9:30SPEAKER_06: They've got a shot.
- 9:31SPEAKER_06: Missouri has done nothing but look impressive.
- 9:33SPEAKER_06: They're gonna have plenty more chances, but their defense is clearly better than we thought they were.
- 9:38SPEAKER_06: And lastly, Iowa.
- 9:39SPEAKER_06: Rock fight Iowa.
- 9:41SPEAKER_06: All they gotta do is knock off one or two teams.
- 9:44SPEAKER_06: We're looking at Michigan in two weeks.
- 9:46SPEAKER_06: It's probably the least likely of those four, but these are the four dark horses that nobody is talking about.
- 9:52SPEAKER_06: One of them will win their respective conferences.
- 9:55SPEAKER_06: Punter, go for it.
- 9:56SPEAKER_03: What you got?
- 9:58SPEAKER_04: I'm gonna punt on that one.
- 10:00SPEAKER_04: I just think if you if you look at the current odds for each of them, the implied probability for Utah is about 13% to win the title.
- 10:08SPEAKER_04: Pitts around four, Missouri and Iowa are the same around three.
- 10:12SPEAKER_04: It would take a to win the conference.
- 10:17SPEAKER_04: I think it's a slim chance.
- 10:19SPEAKER_04: I would take the field totally.
- 10:20SPEAKER_04: I'm punking on this one.
- 10:21SPEAKER_04: Although Utah does have the absolute best chance.
- 10:24SPEAKER_04: But I think as much as I want to Are they the third team?
- 10:28SPEAKER_06: I don't know.
- 10:30SPEAKER_04: I know Texas Tech is currently still number one.
- 10:32SPEAKER_04: I think BYU's.
- 10:35SPEAKER_04: I couldn't tell you somewhere in that middle field.
- 10:38SPEAKER_04: I'd have to look it up on one of the notes right now.
- 10:40SPEAKER_04: But I did, yeah, it was plus 650 when I looked at it the other um the other day.
- 10:44SPEAKER_04: So I'm gonna say punt on that one.
- 11:28SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I'm uh I've got a punt too.
- 11:31SPEAKER_03: I look at this and I throw out the Iowa um and I throw out um the Pit Pittsburgh as well.
- 11:39SPEAKER_03: And so Mizzou actually, you know, and Utah with the best shot.
- 11:43SPEAKER_03: Mizzou, the way they looked beating the snot out of Kansas.
- 11:49SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I can see at Utah what they've done so far.
- 11:52SPEAKER_03: Um, but you just when you pose this question, you gotta dig back in the brain and you gotta say, oh yeah, um Mizzou.
- 12:01SPEAKER_03: Okay, so they're gonna beat out who?
- 12:02SPEAKER_03: Alabama, LSU, Ole Miss, Texas.
- 12:06SPEAKER_03: The list goes on, Georgia.
- 12:08SPEAKER_03: Man, yeah, I forgot George.
- 12:10SPEAKER_03: Old Miss.
- 12:11SPEAKER_03: So, I mean, could it happen?
- 12:13SPEAKER_03: My gosh, that's a I gotta punt.
- 12:15SPEAKER_03: I gotta punt.
- 12:16SPEAKER_03: It's a it's a one in a million shot.
- 12:18SPEAKER_03: You're telling me there's a chance, but it's still a punt from a coach on the sideline.
- 12:24SPEAKER_06: There you go.
- 12:24SPEAKER_06: Yeah, I got I got the most I got the two most conservative coaches then.
- 12:28SPEAKER_06: You guys are like Jim Trestles.
- 12:29SPEAKER_06: I'm gonna give you guys sweater vests because we're so conservative all the damn time.
- 12:35SPEAKER_06: You know what?
- 12:35SPEAKER_04: All right, number four.
- 12:36SPEAKER_04: I go ahead and second, Mike.
- 12:37SPEAKER_04: Let me go back here.
- 12:38SPEAKER_04: Please.
- 12:39SPEAKER_04: I would have been all aboard the pit train, and I think they're a good opportunity, but they looked so bad in week two.
- 12:45SPEAKER_04: I would have overreacted after week one and seven touchdowns.
- 12:48SPEAKER_04: I think I'm underreacting after week two.
- 12:50SPEAKER_04: I need to see what's happening this week, so that's why I still punt, but I just was unimpressed in that game.
- 12:56SPEAKER_04: I forgot who they played.
- 12:57SPEAKER_04: I was watching it on the corner.
- 12:58SPEAKER_06: It was it was UCF in the UCF in the monsoon, so it was like torrential downpour, really, really wet.
- 13:05SPEAKER_06: Doesn't yeah, not an excuse, but you know, we'll see.
- 13:08SPEAKER_06: I only put up 14 at one point.
- 13:11SPEAKER_06: Yeah, and and UCF actually had a chance at the end.
- 13:14SPEAKER_06: Yeah, and UCF's quarterback without Alonzo Barrett that just announces out for the next like month or so.
- 13:19SPEAKER_06: So there's your former Jamie Duke dog who's gonna be on the sideline as well.
- 13:22SPEAKER_06: So, no, I totally agree with you.
- 13:23SPEAKER_06: Week two was not a great showing.
- 13:25SPEAKER_06: Week one, of course, was a seven touchdown performance, but I get you guys very conservative today.
- 13:29SPEAKER_06: You're playing, you get your defense back on the field.
- 13:32SPEAKER_06: Don't want to give any short fields, a lot of punts.
- 13:34SPEAKER_06: That's fine.
- 13:34SPEAKER_06: That's fine.
- 13:35SPEAKER_03: I'll tell you what, Utah is indeed third in the Big 12 uh championship odds.
- 13:40SPEAKER_03: So you do have Texas Tech still at the top.
- 13:43SPEAKER_03: BYU and Utah are essentially even.
- 13:45SPEAKER_03: Uh BYU and Utah.
- 13:47SPEAKER_03: So if they're the books are saying that Utah is as good as BYU, you know, of course, I'd disagree, but uh that's a good they might be.
- 13:55SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it's a 550, five to one shot.
- 13:57SPEAKER_03: So you're on to something.
- 13:59SPEAKER_03: We'll find we'll find out.
- 14:00SPEAKER_03: We'll find out.
- 14:01SPEAKER_06: All right, pun to go for it.
- 14:02SPEAKER_06: Number four quarterback will not win the Heisman.
- 14:06SPEAKER_06: Let me tell you why.
- 14:07SPEAKER_06: So you look at the Heisman odds right now.
- 14:10SPEAKER_06: Number one, Darien Mensa.
- 14:12SPEAKER_06: Great quarterback.
- 14:13SPEAKER_06: His schedule is looking real flimsy, real fast, not gonna have the ammo.
- 14:17SPEAKER_06: Arch Manning, right team, right last name, right conference.
- 14:21SPEAKER_06: I don't think he's been that good.
- 14:23SPEAKER_06: He's missing throws, he's inconsistent.
- 14:25SPEAKER_06: I think he's coming back to college football again next year.
- 14:28SPEAKER_06: I like the guy.
- 14:29SPEAKER_06: I think he's got upside, but I just don't think he's there yet.
- 14:32SPEAKER_06: CJ Carr, same problem as uh Mensa.
- 14:35SPEAKER_06: Real good, not gonna have the ammunition on the schedule.
- 14:38SPEAKER_06: Right now, if you look at the Heisman odds, Jeremiah Smith is number two.
- 14:42SPEAKER_06: Malachi Tony is number five.
- 14:45SPEAKER_06: We are seeing two superstar wide receivers.
- 14:49SPEAKER_06: If they can stay healthy, I think it's a lock.
- 14:51SPEAKER_06: One of these guys is gonna take it down because they're doing things.
- 14:55SPEAKER_06: I think I think Jeremiah Smith, and both of them are just so talented, so good.
- 14:58SPEAKER_06: Malachi Tony, of course, isn't draft eligible.
- 15:00SPEAKER_06: Jeremiah Smith is likely to be a top two pick, top three pick next year's draft.
- 15:05SPEAKER_06: I think this is gonna be the year outside of Coven, Devonta Smith, Alabama, that we see a non-quarterback in.
- 15:11SPEAKER_06: So give me QB will not win the Heisman 2026.
- 15:15SPEAKER_06: Punter, go for it.
- 15:17SPEAKER_03: Go for it.
- 15:18SPEAKER_03: This is a one-inch, fourth and one inch.
- 15:20SPEAKER_03: We got the tush push lined up.
- 15:23SPEAKER_03: We got Hogs up front.
- 15:25SPEAKER_03: Go for it.
- 15:26SPEAKER_03: I got Malachi Tony.
- 15:28SPEAKER_03: The nation's eyes, like you said, are on these two wide receivers.
- 15:32SPEAKER_03: I say.
- 15:32SPEAKER_03: Yeah, they're not on Julian Saiyan.
- 15:34SPEAKER_03: They're not on Arch Manning.
- 15:36SPEAKER_03: The Arch Manning and the Texas Longhorns won this amazing game Saturday night, but I think what people will remember in their brains is how good Jeremiah Smith was in a losing effort with 164 yards.
- 15:50SPEAKER_03: It wasn't Arch Manning, it wasn't Julian Saiyan's heroics.
- 15:55SPEAKER_03: It was, you know, he was the guy.
- 15:57SPEAKER_03: And so Tony's the dude as well.
- 15:59SPEAKER_03: And how husband's about dudes, it's not about wins and losses, it's about what you remember.
- 16:04SPEAKER_03: Um, you know, what made you stand up and scream in the middle of a game.
- 16:07SPEAKER_03: It's those guys.
- 16:08SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 16:08SPEAKER_03: So go into it.
- 16:10SPEAKER_06: And number six and odds, it's just worth pointing out Trinidad Chambliss, who also who actually might be the most talented quarterback.
- 16:15SPEAKER_06: His problem, I think they're gonna take like four or five losses.
- 16:17SPEAKER_06: I think old Miss is gonna tank starting this Saturday, but we'll talk more about that later.
- 16:21SPEAKER_06: Uh Mark, what do you got?
- 16:23SPEAKER_04: Um, I think it's a non-wide receiver or a non-quarterback winning and a wide receiver taking it is just uh I think Mensa and Tony will split the votes.
- 16:34SPEAKER_04: Tony's looked amazing so far, but I think he splits the votes, and I don't think Jeremiah Smith can win the Heisman on a two-loss Ohio State team.
- 16:41SPEAKER_04: That loss against Texas was huge, even though they he was a huge part of it.
- 16:45SPEAKER_04: I don't know that they win out the rest of the year, therefore I don't think he can win it.
- 16:50SPEAKER_04: Although I do think he is the best player in college football.
- 16:53SPEAKER_04: I think a quarterback will step up and take it from him.
- 16:55SPEAKER_04: So I'm gonna punt on that one again.
- 16:58SPEAKER_04: Four downs.
- 16:58SPEAKER_04: I've punted four times.
- 17:03SPEAKER_03: Sweater vest for you, sir.
- 17:05SPEAKER_03: Hunt for Mark again.
- 17:07SPEAKER_03: Hunt for Mark again.
- 17:08SPEAKER_03: Mr.
- 17:09SPEAKER_06: Conservative over here.
- 17:10SPEAKER_06: Love it.
- 17:10SPEAKER_06: Love it for the first time.
- 17:10SPEAKER_06: That's why I like Iowa, man.
- 17:12SPEAKER_06: That's why we're gonna be a few teams in Iowa, my friend.
- 17:15SPEAKER_06: That's good.
- 17:15SPEAKER_06: That's good.
- 17:16SPEAKER_06: The shoe fits.
- 17:17SPEAKER_06: All right, put a goal for number five.
- 17:19SPEAKER_06: Oregon will miss the playoffs.
- 17:21SPEAKER_06: The writing's on the wall.
- 17:22SPEAKER_06: We've seen two really poor performances.
- 17:25SPEAKER_06: The Boise State, obviously, well, Boise State we think might be good, but just uncharacteristic.
- 17:28SPEAKER_06: They were 24-point favorites, didn't work out for them.
- 17:30SPEAKER_06: Lost to Oklahoma State, one of the most inexplicable things that's happened in college football in some time.
- 17:36SPEAKER_06: They're going to lose two more, maybe three.
- 17:38SPEAKER_06: At Ohio State, Michigan, home against UCLA, at USC, UW, who has struggled of late, but by then in a rivalry match, I fully expect UW to be the better version of themselves.
- 17:50SPEAKER_06: This Oregon team, we have vastly underestimated the importance of coordinator continuity and having good talent on the both sides of the ball.
- 17:59SPEAKER_06: Both these coordinators are nowhere near as valuable as Tosh Rupai and uh Will Stein.
- 18:05SPEAKER_06: And I think we're just we're seeing that bear out now.
- 18:08SPEAKER_06: Um I got Oregon out of playoffs entirely, which breaks my heart because they were literally in my national championship pick three weeks ago.
- 18:15SPEAKER_06: Oregon will miss the playoffs.
- 18:16SPEAKER_06: Punter, go for it.
- 18:19SPEAKER_03: Gotta go to USC next week.
- 18:22SPEAKER_03: Do they have enough time to figure their stuff out?
- 18:26SPEAKER_03: Um maybe, you know, if they that's a that's gonna be the turning point.
- 18:30SPEAKER_03: Uh yeah, the whole season.
- 18:31SPEAKER_06: Right.
- 18:32SPEAKER_06: Is in is in ten days.
- 18:33SPEAKER_03: And then right after that, guess who they're getting at home is UCLA, who's quietly whipping some people to death on defense, especially.
- 18:42SPEAKER_03: Um so you know, this is a this is a tight one.
- 18:45SPEAKER_03: I've said it before, you know, early a couple weeks ago.
- 18:48SPEAKER_03: Don't be shocked by being shocked.
- 18:51SPEAKER_03: You know, you can list all the you can list all this stuff.
- 18:54SPEAKER_03: You can just say Dan Lanning, and you can say, you know, they got the wide receivers, they've got a Dante Moore, number one quarterback.
- 19:01SPEAKER_03: Okay, all that stuff can go out the window.
- 19:04SPEAKER_03: We know that's about college football last year.
- 19:06SPEAKER_03: We said the same thing about Clemson, James Franklin, and that defense at Penn State.
- 19:12SPEAKER_03: So don't be shocked when it happens.
- 19:14SPEAKER_03: But will I punt or go for it?
- 19:17SPEAKER_03: Um, you said Oregon misses the playoffs.
- 19:21SPEAKER_03: I'm gonna punt that.
- 19:23SPEAKER_03: I'm gonna punt that.
- 19:23SPEAKER_03: They're gonna turn it around.
- 19:25SPEAKER_03: They're turning it around against all odds.
- 19:27SPEAKER_03: I'm gonna go back with uh DeCorian Moore, uh Dante Moore, and Coach Lanning.
- 19:32SPEAKER_03: They're gonna figure it out.
- 19:36SPEAKER_04: And I am gonna go for it.
- 19:38SPEAKER_04: They are not making the playoffs.
- 19:40SPEAKER_04: Not only did they lose to Oklahoma State, a team that came in 1-0 and looked horrible against Tulsa, they got outperformed by 273 yards against them.
- 19:50SPEAKER_04: I I love the fact that we're in a time that teams I hate the fact for Oregon fans that they're gonna lose, but I'm tired of like when Alabama was good five years in a row.
- 19:59SPEAKER_04: It was always Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State.
- 20:02SPEAKER_04: And I'm just tired of those same teams over and over again.
- 20:05SPEAKER_04: I'm glad that somebody else is gonna step up and take that spot in the playoffs that Oregon has historically taken.
- 20:11SPEAKER_04: I'm not buying Nike stuff anymore this year.
- 20:13SPEAKER_04: I'm going for it.
- 20:14SPEAKER_04: They're not making the playoffs.
- 20:18SPEAKER_06: Uh, ladies and gentlemen, that has been your punt or go for it for week two.
- 20:23SPEAKER_06: Thanks for playing.
- 20:24SPEAKER_06: Uh, if you like any of those takes or don't like them, let us know in the comments.
- 20:26SPEAKER_06: Be sure to get involved, get with us.
- 20:28SPEAKER_06: We're happy to chat back.
- 20:29SPEAKER_06: We'd love to hear your pushback on Punt or GoFor.
- 20:31SPEAKER_06: Hopefully, there's some more aggressive play callers in the uh listenings.
- 20:34SPEAKER_06: I'm hanging out with a bunch of punters tonight, so help me out.
- 20:37SPEAKER_06: Back me up on some of my hot takes.
- 20:38SPEAKER_06: All right, rest tonight, we're gonna uh talk about week three.
- 20:41SPEAKER_06: We have got 10 games we're gonna pick.
- 20:43SPEAKER_06: Mark is gonna lead the way, so I'm gonna go ahead and kick it over to you, brah.
- 20:46SPEAKER_06: Where do you want to start?
- 20:47SPEAKER_04: No more, no more Ray Guy Awards from me as the greatest punter on the show.
- 20:51SPEAKER_04: Uh, what we're gonna do is we're gonna bring up a homer to the front of the show, Mike's team.
- 20:55SPEAKER_04: The LSU Tigers are going to Ole Miss for the Magnolia Bowl, 7:30 Eastern on ABC this Saturday.
- 21:02SPEAKER_04: Oh, it's going to be awesome, Mike.
- 21:05SPEAKER_04: What's going to happen in this game?
- 21:09SPEAKER_06: Damn, that's all I can think about.
- 21:10SPEAKER_06: I'm not going to be sleeping all week leading up to leading up to this game.
- 21:13SPEAKER_06: Very excited.
- 21:13SPEAKER_06: Uh, Lane Kiffin going this is homecoming, uh, going back to uh Ole Miss where he coached the last six years.
- 21:19SPEAKER_06: Um, a lot of feelings, a lot of teams really want that.
- 21:22SPEAKER_06: The line is three points in LSU's favor, which of course uh bodes well.
- 21:25SPEAKER_06: Translates to uh Vegas thinking we're about a touchdown better if it's a neutral site.
- 21:29SPEAKER_06: So I like that.
- 21:31SPEAKER_06: What I think bodes well for us is I think uh uh Ole Miss's defense is not very good.
- 21:36SPEAKER_06: Uh Louisville really took it to him, especially their secondary.
- 21:38SPEAKER_06: They picked them apart.
- 21:39SPEAKER_06: I don't think their defense is anywhere near as good.
- 21:42SPEAKER_06: And I've made this, I've already made my feelings about Pete Golding as defensive mind well known.
- 21:47SPEAKER_06: I just don't think they are that good, and Louisville really took it to them.
- 21:50SPEAKER_06: Uh on the other side, I think LSU's defense is actually elite.
- 21:54SPEAKER_06: Uh Jordan Ross and Prince, Princeton, have been outstanding the pass rush.
- 21:58SPEAKER_06: Uh TJ Dodory, the uh Ole Miss Transfer, Wit Weeks, the linebackers are elite.
- 22:03SPEAKER_06: We've got uh NFL guys in the second level.
- 22:06SPEAKER_06: I think our defense might be one of the best defenses LSU has had since 2011.
- 22:09SPEAKER_06: The Eric Reed, Honey Badger, Tyrone Matthew years.
- 22:13SPEAKER_06: I know it's only been two games.
- 22:14SPEAKER_06: I'm getting way ahead of myself, but what I'm seeing is a dominant, dominant team.
- 22:19SPEAKER_06: My point, we're gonna get more stops than they are.
- 22:21SPEAKER_06: They're not gonna stop us from scoring.
- 22:23SPEAKER_06: We're not gonna stop them from scoring that much, but we will get more stops.
- 22:27SPEAKER_06: I got LSU winning by about eight points.
- 22:29SPEAKER_06: What do you think?
- 22:32SPEAKER_03: I think for me, it comes down to what do I believe about Trinidad Chambliss.
- 22:37SPEAKER_03: Last year, at the end of the season.
- 22:39SPEAKER_03: He was just on fire.
- 22:41SPEAKER_03: He was absolute magic man.
- 22:43SPEAKER_03: When they needed um 10 yards, he got 11.
- 22:47SPEAKER_03: Uh, he could chuck that ball down the field and any distance whatsoever.
- 22:52SPEAKER_03: So um what do I think he's what do I think he's gonna do this weekend?
- 22:57SPEAKER_03: I think he's gonna have a lot of that magic in his back pocket, and he's gonna extend some drives um in every conceivable way.
- 23:06SPEAKER_03: But then again, he's got a big defense in front of him.
- 23:10SPEAKER_03: I think this is an under game.
- 23:12SPEAKER_03: I think the defenses um I think that I think the quarterbacks are gonna do enough with their legs and with their, you know, just pure football acumen to like extend drives.
- 23:23SPEAKER_03: We're gonna see 12, 13 play drives that take five, six, seven minutes.
- 23:28SPEAKER_03: Might end up in three points.
- 23:29SPEAKER_03: A couple of them will end up in scores, but it's not gonna be very many possessions.
- 23:34SPEAKER_03: Um, I think it's gonna be a really tight game.
- 23:37SPEAKER_03: And so at the wire, we're in Oxford, Mississippi.
- 23:42SPEAKER_03: I'm gonna go with coach Lane Kiffen, knows how to finish a game.
- 23:48SPEAKER_03: I'm gonna go coach over coach.
- 23:51SPEAKER_03: I got Kiffen knowing how to finish, he's gonna do all the right things, and Golding's gonna trip because he's a brand new head coach, and Chambliss is gonna do everything in his possible, you know, bag of tricks.
- 24:04SPEAKER_03: Um, and it's gonna be a 21-20 game at the end, and Tigers win.
- 24:12SPEAKER_06: I can I I can definitely see that, and I think that with the I think with your point about Trinidad is well said, but I just think he he's gonna have to have a hair on his fire doing everything to carry this team, and I just don't think he does have Kowan Lacey, he does have Deuce Alexander, he does have some help, but beyond those, beyond those two guys, I don't know what else.
- 24:30SPEAKER_06: Mark, what do you think?
- 24:31SPEAKER_04: Uh the my key to this game is going to be turnovers.
- 24:35SPEAKER_04: Um, Sam Levitt had three turnover turnovers in the first half against Louisiana Tech.
- 24:39SPEAKER_04: He's had four on the season.
- 24:41SPEAKER_04: Trinidad Chamberless has had four interceptions all of last year and the two games he's played this year.
- 24:46SPEAKER_04: That's the only thing I think that'll hold LSU back, is if Sam Levitt has some type of turnover problem, which will then put Old Miss in the driver's seat.
- 24:56SPEAKER_04: I definitely think LSU's going to win the game, but I wouldn't pick LSU to cover because of that turnover situation.
- 25:02SPEAKER_04: Uh, but if I'm gonna put my hat into a Mike Blitz parlay of the week, I would definitely pick the LSU money line on this at least.
- 25:11SPEAKER_06: I would take that.
- 25:11SPEAKER_06: I would take the money line or the under or both, if you guys are interested in any of those things.
- 25:16SPEAKER_06: Like in the end, the under at uh there's it 58 and a half.
- 25:20SPEAKER_06: It's a big number.
- 25:21SPEAKER_06: 58?
- 25:22SPEAKER_06: Eight.
- 25:22SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 25:23SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 25:23SPEAKER_04: LSU's defense is good.
- 25:26SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 25:26unknown: Yeah.
- 25:27SPEAKER_06: And uh Ulmis is starting right tackle, is supposed to be out as well.
- 25:30SPEAKER_06: So he's got that, he has to deal with two NFL defensive ends crashing down him.
- 25:33SPEAKER_06: I think we're gonna create, I think we're gonna create chaos.
- 25:35SPEAKER_06: Trinidad Chamberlays can extend plays.
- 25:37SPEAKER_06: We've seen him do that, but I don't think against a patch rush like us he's gonna be able to do that nearly as much as he wants to.
- 25:42SPEAKER_06: I like the underlock a lot.
- 25:44SPEAKER_04: Lock it in, LSU Monday line and the under for that.
- 25:47SPEAKER_04: Good stuff.
- 25:48SPEAKER_04: What's next?
- 25:49SPEAKER_04: Uh we're going to travel to Texas Tech number 13, Texas Tech host, number 22, Houston, Friday night, 8 p.m.
- 25:58SPEAKER_04: on Fox.
- 25:58SPEAKER_04: Texas Tech has won uh Texas Tech has won the last six games.
- 26:04SPEAKER_04: Do you know Houston won like seven of the first eight, but they haven't won a game since 2009 when Case Keenum was their quarterback?
- 26:11SPEAKER_04: Um I I've got ideas on this one, but what do you guys think?
- 26:16SPEAKER_04: Is Texas Tech gonna get their act together?
- 26:18SPEAKER_04: Or is Houston gonna roll over him?
- 26:25SPEAKER_06: As we know, because uh Texas Tech is sounding the fire alarms for the quarterbacks.
- 26:29SPEAKER_06: I'll take the coach and quarterback model plus six.
- 26:31SPEAKER_06: They're getting getting more than a touchdown.
- 26:33SPEAKER_06: Uh I I got Houston plus seven and a half all day.
- 26:36SPEAKER_06: I love it.
- 26:36SPEAKER_06: I am I am quickly, quickly, quickly tanking all my Texas Tech views.
- 26:41SPEAKER_06: I don't think they're nearly as good as the price that they paid to have that roster, unfortunately.
- 26:46SPEAKER_06: And I like Joey Maguire.
- 26:48SPEAKER_06: I think he's a fine coach.
- 26:49SPEAKER_06: I think Willie Fritz is a better one.
- 26:50SPEAKER_06: I think Willie Fritz is on his way to bigger, better things.
- 26:53SPEAKER_06: He has been successful everywhere he goes.
- 26:54SPEAKER_06: I think this is year three at Houston, maybe year four.
- 26:57SPEAKER_06: They got Mikai Hughes back.
- 26:59SPEAKER_06: He's an outstanding running back.
- 27:00SPEAKER_06: I got the Cougars.
- 27:01SPEAKER_06: I got the Cougars going there, doing work, maybe pulling the upset, but if you're giving me more than a touchdown, I'm happy to take it.
- 27:08SPEAKER_03: What Texas Tech needs.
- 27:11SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 27:12SPEAKER_03: What Texas Tech needs is that shutdown defense that they were riding last year.
- 27:17SPEAKER_03: They ain't got it.
- 27:18SPEAKER_03: They beat Oregon State.
- 27:19SPEAKER_03: Oregon State scored 24 points.
- 27:22SPEAKER_03: Um, Abilene Christian, they beat them 33 to 10.
- 27:26SPEAKER_03: You know, that's a team that we should be talking about 50 to 0.
- 27:32SPEAKER_03: Um, and so Texas Tech just doesn't have that shutdown defense.
- 27:36SPEAKER_03: They're letting they're letting up points and yards, and it Houston's gonna put up points and yards for sure.
- 27:41SPEAKER_03: I got Houston as well.
- 27:42SPEAKER_03: I love I love taking those points.
- 27:44SPEAKER_04: We went a little conservative on the LSU money line, not going minus three.
- 27:48SPEAKER_04: What's the Houston money line at right now, Mike?
- 27:51SPEAKER_04: Hmm you check that one out.
- 27:53SPEAKER_06: It's a big one.
- 27:54SPEAKER_06: Plus 245 is what I see.
- 27:56SPEAKER_06: Plus 245, two and a half to one to win.
- 27:59SPEAKER_04: I feel really I feel really good about my money at uh Houston, uh, plus seven and a half, though.
- 28:06SPEAKER_06: Okay, let's stick, let's let's stick with plus seven and a half.
- 28:08SPEAKER_06: Let's not get greedy on that one.
- 28:09SPEAKER_06: I think we're I think we're all in agreement that the Cougars are gonna do something, they're gonna put themselves on the national stage on Friday.
- 28:15SPEAKER_06: That's gonna be a fun, by the way.
- 28:16SPEAKER_06: Just ranked on ranked Friday night, 7:30 kick.
- 28:19SPEAKER_06: What a treat to start the weekend.
- 28:21SPEAKER_06: Love when it works out like that, too.
- 28:23SPEAKER_06: It's good stuff.
- 28:24SPEAKER_04: I might put a little side bed on the Houston money line just to put that one in my pocket.
- 28:28SPEAKER_04: I was just thinking the same thing.
- 28:30SPEAKER_04: I think I'm with you.
- 28:30SPEAKER_04: I think I'm gonna do that too.
- 28:31SPEAKER_03: Yeah, a little sprinkle.
- 28:33SPEAKER_03: A little sprinkle.
- 28:34SPEAKER_04: All right.
- 28:35SPEAKER_04: Saturday afternoon, we're going to Louisville, Kentucky.
- 28:39SPEAKER_04: Number 22, host number 16, Southern Methodist University.
- 28:44SPEAKER_04: And Kevin Jennings are coming to town.
- 28:46SPEAKER_04: Uh 3:30 on Saturday, guys.
- 28:49SPEAKER_04: Uh, Louisville is a one and a half point favorite last time I checked.
- 28:53SPEAKER_04: Louisville.
- 28:58SPEAKER_06: Love.
- 28:58SPEAKER_06: Uh go ahead.
- 28:59SPEAKER_06: You go first, Aaron.
- 29:00SPEAKER_03: Ooh, what were you gonna say?
- 29:01SPEAKER_03: What do you love?
- 29:02SPEAKER_03: Now I don't know.
- 29:03SPEAKER_03: Louisville is who I love.
- 29:04SPEAKER_06: Love Louisville.
- 29:05SPEAKER_06: Love, love Louisville.
- 29:06SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 29:07SPEAKER_06: Love.
- 29:07SPEAKER_06: They should have been, they should have yeah.
- 29:09SPEAKER_03: You can't see a second.
- 29:12SPEAKER_03: Heinholtz is coming on the scene.
- 29:14SPEAKER_03: Uh, he deserves a lot more cred and a lot more holler, and he's gonna uh creep into that Heisman top 20 list somehow, you know, after scrambling all over this field and throwing and running and doing his thing.
- 29:28SPEAKER_03: He's gonna be a uh a real a real uh spark plug, a real electric player to watch on on uh on Saturday.
- 29:37SPEAKER_03: So yeah, Kine Holtz and Louisville, like I said last week, Louisville is a physical team.
- 29:42SPEAKER_03: They will hit, they will win the line of scrimmage.
- 29:46SPEAKER_03: SMU and Kevin Jennings will simply not have like the the electric big play, um, you know, the the long play, the explosive play.
- 29:57SPEAKER_03: They're just gonna bottle them up on defense.
- 29:59SPEAKER_03: That's the new Louisville, and they've got a quarterback uh to do the point scoring form on the other side.
- 30:05SPEAKER_03: Louisville, baby.
- 30:09SPEAKER_06: Louisville's got a pass rush and a defensive line.
- 30:11SPEAKER_06: I do like the SMU's left side of their offensive line.
- 30:13SPEAKER_06: They got two stalwarts over there.
- 30:15SPEAKER_06: Um, the right side a little shaky, not so much.
- 30:17SPEAKER_06: Louisville was also, let's face it, pretty terrible at in Tallahassee.
- 30:22SPEAKER_06: I'm sorry, SMU, SMU.
- 30:24SPEAKER_06: SMU was pretty pretty terrible in Tallahassee.
- 30:27SPEAKER_06: Four turnovers, just sloppy.
- 30:28SPEAKER_06: Still one by three.
- 30:30SPEAKER_06: I don't know if that says more about SMU or more about Florida State.
- 30:32SPEAKER_06: That's not really, I'm not really concerned about that anymore.
- 30:35SPEAKER_06: Uh Kevin Jennings has got to deal with guys in his face.
- 30:38SPEAKER_06: He's they're gonna get pressure on him, at least on that right side.
- 30:40SPEAKER_06: They do have pass rushers.
- 30:42SPEAKER_06: This game is in Louisville.
- 30:43SPEAKER_06: You've got Lincoln Keenholes, who I think is a just I agree with you totally.
- 30:46SPEAKER_06: I think he's gonna climb up those NFL draft boards, those Heisman, uh Walter Camp list.
- 30:52SPEAKER_06: I think he's gonna climb his way up there.
- 30:54SPEAKER_06: I love Jeff Brahm.
- 30:55SPEAKER_06: I've always loved that guy.
- 30:56SPEAKER_06: I think he's a great coach.
- 30:57SPEAKER_06: This game is gonna be in Louisville, the home crowd.
- 31:00SPEAKER_06: A lot of those stupid penalties uh that they had in the uh old miss game are gonna get cleaned up.
- 31:05SPEAKER_06: Uh, I am not, I'm expecting my point.
- 31:08SPEAKER_06: My point.
- 31:09SPEAKER_06: I think these teams are relatively even matched talent-wise, but I've got a big coaching advantage, I've got a big home field advantage, and I've got a team I think is just gonna be more executed at a higher level.
- 31:19SPEAKER_06: So I really like Louisville to win uh probably by seven to ten points.
- 31:26SPEAKER_04: I agree.
- 31:26SPEAKER_04: I like Isaac Brown, the running back on Louisville, everything you've said about Louisville so far.
- 31:31SPEAKER_06: Talk about him.
- 31:32SPEAKER_04: Yeah, they're just I mean, they've got a great running game.
- 31:35SPEAKER_04: Uh and I think SMU, I the only thing I have for SMU is could they have been impacted by the power outage in Florida State where they had to do everything manually and they didn't have coaches in their helmets?
- 31:46SPEAKER_04: Like, is that the reason why they didn't come out against Florida State and look as good as they did?
- 31:50SPEAKER_04: Uh the game was barely watchable um for the most part, but all in all, I like Louisville minus one and a half here.
- 31:57SPEAKER_03: Isaac Brown hasn't shown up yet, but of course, we're only a couple weeks in.
- 32:01SPEAKER_03: He's gotta he's gotta come out of nowhere.
- 32:03SPEAKER_03: SMU, I think, is the greatest opportunity for him to to hit the hit the scene.
- 32:09SPEAKER_03: So we got yeah, hit the National TV home crowd.
- 32:13SPEAKER_03: Hit the eyes of the American public.
- 32:15SPEAKER_03: It's gonna happen this weekend.
- 32:17SPEAKER_03: The Isaac Brown we've been waiting for for a couple weeks.
- 32:19SPEAKER_03: He's gonna, you know, they're gonna figure it out.
- 32:21SPEAKER_03: They're gonna they're gonna get him some space.
- 32:23SPEAKER_06: Yeah, I'm with you.
- 32:24SPEAKER_06: I like I like Trevor Jesus and LI as well.
- 32:27SPEAKER_04: Go ahead.
- 32:27SPEAKER_04: Yo, dude, he's fast.
- 32:29SPEAKER_04: Yes, he has some explosive plays against Ole Miss.
- 32:31SPEAKER_04: All right, so we've gone the LSU money line.
- 32:33SPEAKER_04: We're doing the under on LSU and Ole Miss at 58.5.
- 32:36SPEAKER_04: We have Houston plus seven and a half.
- 32:38SPEAKER_04: We have Louisville minus one and a half.
- 32:40SPEAKER_04: And now we're gonna go through a rapid four-fire.
- 32:42SPEAKER_04: We're gonna go through four real quick games.
- 32:44SPEAKER_04: Uh, first of all, Florida at Auburn, 7 p.m.
- 32:48SPEAKER_04: ESPN Saturday.
- 32:49SPEAKER_04: Florida is a two and a half point favorite.
- 32:52SPEAKER_04: Mike, what you got here?
- 32:58SPEAKER_06: Two new coaches, two new quarterbacks, two very, very, very proud organiz uh organizations.
- 33:04SPEAKER_06: Both these schools have won national championships in the last 20 years.
- 33:07SPEAKER_06: Uh, both of them have ice have high aspirations.
- 33:11SPEAKER_06: This is gonna be a great swing game because one of these teams I really think is gonna get in the mix in the SEC.
- 33:16SPEAKER_06: And one of them we're gonna say, we like them, but not yet.
- 33:19SPEAKER_06: A little ahead of schedule, not sure.
- 33:21SPEAKER_06: John Summerall definitely inherited a better roster at Florida than uh uh Golish at Auburn.
- 33:26SPEAKER_06: I think it's I think it's a fair.
- 33:27SPEAKER_06: He's got Jaden Ball, he's got some defensive weapons, got some skill guys that are really nice.
- 33:32SPEAKER_06: Um, but this game is in Auburn at Jordan Hare at night.
- 33:36SPEAKER_06: That is just not where you want to be.
- 33:39SPEAKER_06: I have seen a lot of really good SEC squads go into there and have their hearts dashed by just inexplicable things that is Jordan Hare.
- 33:49SPEAKER_06: Seven o'clock at night.
- 33:50SPEAKER_06: This is a big spot for John Summerall, big spot for Aaron Philo, who doesn't have that many reps yet.
- 33:55SPEAKER_06: I really do like Buster Faulkner, Faulkner, the uh offensive play caller for Florida, and I think Jaden Ball might be one of the best running backs in the country.
- 34:02SPEAKER_06: But uh, give me Auburn, give me Cobb, give me uh that big Byron Brown kid to have a hard time getting him down, moving the chains.
- 34:09SPEAKER_06: They're gonna play DJ Durkin's gonna play great defense.
- 34:12SPEAKER_06: I'm I'm just I think the the hair the the this the soul of Jordan Hare is gonna come out.
- 34:17SPEAKER_06: I I'm not betting against a team going to Jordan Hare on Saturday night.
- 34:21SPEAKER_06: Not a Florida squad.
- 34:21SPEAKER_06: So I I like I like Auburn plus two and a half.
- 34:25SPEAKER_06: I'd also take the under.
- 34:26SPEAKER_06: I think it's gonna be a defensive slug match.
- 34:28SPEAKER_06: What do y'all think?
- 34:30SPEAKER_04: I like the idea that under more than that, I think Florida wins by like 27-21.
- 34:35SPEAKER_04: So what is the under right now?
- 34:37SPEAKER_03: It's not the last 53.
- 34:39SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 34:40SPEAKER_04: 53 and a half.
- 34:41SPEAKER_04: Oh, I do like the under on that one.
- 34:43SPEAKER_03: Yeah, guys, that's where I'm going.
- 34:45SPEAKER_03: The under is looking great.
- 34:47SPEAKER_03: There's one unit that I love, which is Albert's defense.
- 34:50SPEAKER_03: Other than that, you got a lot of new, new, new, new, but Auburn's defense is gonna show up huge.
- 34:55SPEAKER_03: And with two brand new coaches who are just I think they're I think their major objective is to not screw it up.
- 35:04SPEAKER_03: And so they're not gonna be doing anything flashy.
- 35:07SPEAKER_03: They just want to, you know, three yards in a and a cloud of dust, get some first downs.
- 35:12SPEAKER_03: This is gonna be a low-scoring game.
- 35:14SPEAKER_03: Um, I like Auburn to win, but also Florida's got some personnel that could put up some points to, you know, in a low-scoring one-point game.
- 35:24SPEAKER_03: What I love is the under more.
- 35:26SPEAKER_06: Yeah, no, I I love that more.
- 35:28SPEAKER_06: I mean, it's they're they are they are underdogs for a reason.
- 35:30SPEAKER_06: Although I will say, Alec Goalish, he has beaten Florida before.
- 35:34SPEAKER_06: He beat them last year when he was at South Florida.
- 35:36SPEAKER_06: So he's he's not of he's not a stranger to beating the Florida Gators.
- 35:40SPEAKER_06: So maybe he maybe he could or couldn't do it again.
- 35:43SPEAKER_06: Um, and I do I really do believe the upside of Byron Brown will, I think it will get better.
- 35:47SPEAKER_06: I did the Baylor game left a lot to be desired.
- 35:50SPEAKER_06: I get that.
- 35:50SPEAKER_06: That's a lot of the heat they're taking right now.
- 35:52SPEAKER_06: That's fair.
- 35:53SPEAKER_06: I think there's a better version of him coming.
- 35:55SPEAKER_06: Um, so yeah, um I'm with let's let's do the under.
- 35:58SPEAKER_06: I think we're lock it in.
- 36:00SPEAKER_06: I think we're under.
- 36:01SPEAKER_06: Yeah, I think we're spin we're split on who's gonna win, but I think we both all like the under.
- 36:05SPEAKER_04: All right, under at 53 and a half for Florida at Auburn.
- 36:09SPEAKER_04: Now here's two polarizing coaches for you Bill Belichick and North Carolina, North Carolina travel to South Carolina to visit Clemson noon on Saturday.
- 36:18SPEAKER_04: Dabo Sweeney.
- 36:20SPEAKER_04: Clemson's actually favored here by three and a half.
- 36:24SPEAKER_04: Mike, what do you think?
- 36:27SPEAKER_06: We're favored like 15 and a half, like back in July and August in this game.
- 36:31SPEAKER_06: This game might be the this game might be this.
- 36:33SPEAKER_06: Was I consider this for one of my punter go for it?
- 36:36SPEAKER_06: Actually, it was one of my takes was this game, Bill Belichick, might end Dabo's tenure at Clemson.
- 36:43SPEAKER_06: If Clemson starts one and two, the people who make decisions at Clemson are gonna have to face reality that Dabo is no longer the guy.
- 36:51SPEAKER_06: And if they know that he's no longer the guy and they're sure he's no longer the guy, how long can they afford to keep him?
- 36:57SPEAKER_06: That's the question.
- 36:58SPEAKER_06: But we're not talking about that, that's their problem.
- 36:59SPEAKER_06: We're talking about this game.
- 37:01SPEAKER_06: So we got two what I think are bad offenses.
- 37:04SPEAKER_06: Uh Vizina's out, so it's gonna be Tate Reynolds, the quarterback from Clemson, who we saw in the LSU game, didn't do a lot, but he probably has some decent upside.
- 37:11SPEAKER_06: North Carolina offensive coordinator, uh Bobby Petrino, who's known for good offenses.
- 37:15SPEAKER_06: He is a good offensive mind.
- 37:16SPEAKER_06: I do believe that he's got Billy Edwards.
- 37:18SPEAKER_06: Billy Edwards is not exactly uh lighting the world on fire and had a rough year at Wisconsin.
- 37:23SPEAKER_06: The Maryland version of him was pretty good.
- 37:26SPEAKER_06: What I do think is gonna happen, I think, is North Carolina's gonna show up with good defense again.
- 37:30SPEAKER_06: They they took a good defense over to Ireland for the TCU game.
- 37:33SPEAKER_06: I think they'll have it here as well.
- 37:34SPEAKER_06: Clemson, I still think is a defense, decent defensive squad, and they're gonna be playing at home at noon on Saturday.
- 37:42SPEAKER_06: I got two defensive teams battling it out with two pretty mediocre, not explosive, not very in could not very consistent offenses with not a lot of weapons.
- 37:53SPEAKER_06: The Clemson wide receivers notwithstanding.
- 37:56SPEAKER_06: I'd go either way on this one.
- 37:58SPEAKER_06: Uh over-run is also 43 and a half, it's pretty low.
- 38:00SPEAKER_06: So I actually don't have a hot, I don't have a good read on the way this game goes.
- 38:05SPEAKER_06: But my my my from just a spectator standpoint, if UNC loses, I think you're gonna see some seismic shifts in Clemson.
- 38:14SPEAKER_03: Uh Jan, what do you think?
- 38:15SPEAKER_03: Yeah, this is a this is defense on defense.
- 38:19SPEAKER_03: And 44 is a is a very low uh total, but I'm still in still inclined to go under, but I'm not I don't have a strong, I don't have anything strong on this, kind of like you, um, other than it's just gross and somebody's getting fired.
- 38:37SPEAKER_03: Uh don't forget that UNC is 2-0.
- 38:40SPEAKER_03: We sit there in the Charlottesville parking lot and watched them put it on TCU in Dublin, Ireland.
- 38:46SPEAKER_03: Uh so they've got that, they're gonna bring some defense with Belichick, and it's gonna be ugly.
- 38:50SPEAKER_03: It's gonna be a 13 to 14 final score.
- 38:53SPEAKER_03: And who the heck knows?
- 38:55SPEAKER_03: Which defense can score more?
- 38:56SPEAKER_03: I think that's the question.
- 38:58SPEAKER_03: Yeah, which is who's gonna block more punts and and more pick sixes?
- 39:04SPEAKER_03: Uh uh, I don't say North Carolina.
- 39:06SPEAKER_06: Somebody here, either Billy Edwards or Reynolds, is gonna throw the worst interception you've ever seen.
- 39:11SPEAKER_06: I swear to God, it's coming this game.
- 39:13SPEAKER_06: It's gonna be someone's someone throwing it.
- 39:15SPEAKER_06: I don't know to who, I don't know when it's happening.
- 39:17SPEAKER_06: This game is such a wild card for me.
- 39:19SPEAKER_06: And the thing is, I know if we bet it, no matter what happens, I'm gonna be pulling my hair out as soon as the game starts.
- 39:23SPEAKER_06: Why do we do that?
- 39:24SPEAKER_06: What were we thinking?
- 39:25SPEAKER_06: No matter what we do, it's gonna be the wrong this is stay away.
- 39:28SPEAKER_03: This is the one I love to stay away.
- 39:30SPEAKER_03: I don't want any sort of I don't want to root for anybody at all in this the whole matchup.
- 39:36SPEAKER_04: No, all right.
- 39:37SPEAKER_04: Speaking of two other teams that I know you guys have a disdain for, Florida State is going to Alabama 3:30 Saturday on ABC.
- 39:44SPEAKER_04: Alabama is a 19 and a half point favorite, but a lot of the models are showing that Florida State's around a 16.5 point uh dog.
- 39:55SPEAKER_04: So what are your thoughts on that one?
- 39:59SPEAKER_03: Florida, can Florida complete a pass to Deuce?
- 40:03SPEAKER_03: You know, they've got a super wide receiver, but but can can the completions come enough to score points with him?
- 40:12SPEAKER_03: That's their only I shouldn't say only they can run the ball a little bit from what I saw them do uh against SMU.
- 40:19SPEAKER_03: And so Florida State has a little bit of offense.
- 40:23SPEAKER_03: I'm scraping the scraping at straws here, you know.
- 40:27SPEAKER_03: I can't see how they're gonna score points.
- 40:29SPEAKER_03: And Alabama looks like they have a very real defense defense.
- 40:34SPEAKER_03: Um and this is gonna be hot, this is gonna be sweaty, everybody's gonna be fatigued in the second half, but 19 and a half is a lot of points to give up.
- 40:45SPEAKER_03: Um, I don't know, this is a tough one.
- 40:47SPEAKER_03: Mike, I'm just gonna pause, I'm just gonna stall and pause and pass to you.
- 40:52SPEAKER_06: You know, I don't love anything that we're seeing out of that one either.
- 40:54SPEAKER_06: 19 and a half points.
- 40:55SPEAKER_06: Like, are we are all of the jitters gone from Alabama?
- 40:58SPEAKER_06: Because like that's the only way they don't cover this game.
- 41:01SPEAKER_06: Like, Caitlin De Boer is not a consistent coach at home or away.
- 41:05SPEAKER_06: Florida State at the same time, I don't see really signs of life other than pride.
- 41:09SPEAKER_06: Maybe someone's gonna get up for Norvell.
- 41:12SPEAKER_06: I'm kind of I I don't have I think this is gonna be a boring win for Alabama.
- 41:16SPEAKER_06: They're gonna win by 10 or 20, and Norvell's getting fired, and neither outcome would surprise me.
- 41:23SPEAKER_06: So I have no idea if they cover.
- 41:24SPEAKER_06: I really have no idea if they cover.
- 41:26SPEAKER_06: I would take the Alabama money line if I had to do anything, but that's like what minus 6,000?
- 41:30SPEAKER_06: It's not even worth it.
- 41:31SPEAKER_06: Um, I and the over-under is 48 and a half, which is I kind of think right where it should be.
- 41:35SPEAKER_06: I think it's about right.
- 41:36SPEAKER_06: That's like, what's that 34 to 14-ish?
- 41:41SPEAKER_06: That's probably about right.
- 41:42SPEAKER_03: No betting, no betting liens, but I will say this, you know, it was only two years ago.
- 41:47SPEAKER_03: We were we were looking at Jalen Jalen Milro wearing an Alabama quarterback jersey, and you know, he came out just like uh Keelan Russell is, and it's like magic man, right?
- 41:57SPEAKER_03: He can he is a man amongst boys, he's running, he's throwing, he's doing it all.
- 42:01SPEAKER_03: But pretty soon in that season, teams figured out how to bottle him up, and they made him throws, throw some balls that he didn't want to throw, and he wasn't completing passes, and they couldn't run the so they got figured out, and that's I think what we're prime to see begin right now.
- 42:18SPEAKER_03: Alabama has come out and flash, flash, and lightning and thrown, you know, scoring a lot of points, but pretty soon these these coaching staffs are gonna learn how to bottle up a uh Keelon Russell, and we might see that a little bit.
- 42:30SPEAKER_03: He might be in a little trouble.
- 42:33SPEAKER_04: I don't see Florida State doing that at all.
- 42:36SPEAKER_04: I uh I I think I was really impressed with the 32 unenter points that Alabama put up against Kentucky.
- 42:41SPEAKER_06: So uh I'm staying away from this game because they were losing in the first half.
- 42:46SPEAKER_04: Exactly, exactly.
- 42:47SPEAKER_04: Like, yeah, yeah.
- 42:48SPEAKER_04: So all right, let's move on to oh no, I'm not Mississippi.
- 42:55SPEAKER_04: Let's go to two teams just outside the top 25.
- 42:58SPEAKER_04: We almost had four games of ranked teams.
- 43:01SPEAKER_04: Mississippi State, who dominated Minnesota in Minnesota, is going to South Carolina, who's given up nine total points in two games, 415 Saturday on the SEC network.
- 43:13SPEAKER_04: South Carolina's currently favored by four.
- 43:18SPEAKER_05: What do you think?
- 43:22SPEAKER_03: Love what we see out of Mississippi State.
- 43:25SPEAKER_03: Also love South Carolina right now.
- 43:27SPEAKER_03: Um are they going are they going to be able to bottle up um I think we're gonna see a lot of good out of out of uh oh gosh, I'm blanking South Carolina's quarterback.
- 43:39SPEAKER_03: Mario Taylor?
- 43:40SPEAKER_03: No, Lenora's sellers, Lenore Sellers.
- 43:44SPEAKER_03: He's gonna I think Lenora's sellers is his learning some stuff, maturing, and he's gonna, you know, he's gonna hit Nick Nick uh gosh, what's his name?
- 43:55SPEAKER_04: I'm blowing up uh the Taylor?
- 43:57SPEAKER_04: Uh no, he's a wide receiver and wide receivers like Megatron.
- 44:01SPEAKER_04: Nick Harbour.
- 44:01SPEAKER_04: Nick Harbour.
- 44:03SPEAKER_04: Yeah, seems to David Boston and Megatron.
- 44:04SPEAKER_03: I haven't looked at South Carolina at all this year, but Nick Harbour, Lenora Sellers, you know, they're gonna they're gonna come through with some offense.
- 44:11SPEAKER_03: And so this might be your classic shootout, uh Mississippi State and Camario Taylor ready to, you know, ready to put up some yards and some bombs and all that stuff.
- 44:20SPEAKER_03: But South Carolina can too.
- 44:22SPEAKER_03: And so it's gonna be tough.
- 44:23SPEAKER_03: But you know what South Carolina has is um now I'm gonna be careful, Dylan Stewart?
- 44:29SPEAKER_03: Is that right?
- 44:31SPEAKER_03: So they still got Dylan Stewart on the roster.
- 44:33SPEAKER_03: Somehow he didn't get drafted.
- 44:35SPEAKER_03: He looked like such an NFL ready guy last year, but he's gonna come through.
- 44:40SPEAKER_03: And disrupt Camario.
- 44:42SPEAKER_03: So I'm kind of leaning South Carolina here.
- 44:44SPEAKER_03: Is that weird?
- 44:45SPEAKER_06: No, it's not.
- 44:46SPEAKER_06: I'm actually kind of with you on that.
- 44:47SPEAKER_06: So Dylan Stewart's been out the first two games.
- 44:50SPEAKER_06: They're expecting him back this game.
- 44:51SPEAKER_06: They're also their best lineman, Chicarias Peak, also been out.
- 44:54SPEAKER_06: He's getting back.
- 44:55SPEAKER_06: So when you're talking about the four most important position of footballs, quarterback, wide receiver, defensive end, and offensive tackle, South Carolina is getting two of them back and two damn good ones.
- 45:04SPEAKER_06: They also have a really good secondary, which it's gonna, these are this is this is I this is when you're gonna see a difference between Minnesota and South Carolina.
- 45:12SPEAKER_06: South Carolina is playing at home.
- 45:15SPEAKER_06: This is gonna be a four o'clock kick, so it'll be nighttime in the second half.
- 45:19SPEAKER_06: This is a tough spot for Camario Taylor.
- 45:21SPEAKER_06: I really like Camario Taylor.
- 45:23SPEAKER_06: I like Fluff Bothwell.
- 45:24SPEAKER_06: I like what they're doing, I like Anthony Evans.
- 45:26SPEAKER_06: I just think this is a heck of a spot.
- 45:28SPEAKER_06: And I think the difference in caliber between the Minnesota Gophers and South Carolina Gamecox were quietly pretty good team with lots of four stars and on both sides of the ball.
- 45:39SPEAKER_06: I'm also leaning South Carolina.
- 45:40SPEAKER_06: I'm seeing three and a half right now.
- 45:42SPEAKER_06: I think they're gonna cover that.
- 45:43SPEAKER_06: I think I think Gamecocks get it done.
- 45:46SPEAKER_04: You're like three and a half.
- 45:47SPEAKER_04: I like the money line there.
- 45:48SPEAKER_04: I don't know if I can go all the way to three and a half, though.
- 45:51SPEAKER_04: Darren, what are your thoughts on the actual throwing in there?
- 45:55SPEAKER_03: Lay in points, lay two and a half points.
- 45:58SPEAKER_06: Oh, I'll take two and a half in a second.
- 46:00SPEAKER_06: Can we can we get an alt line?
- 46:01SPEAKER_06: I'll see if I can find an alt.
- 46:02SPEAKER_06: See if I can see if I can get you an alt spread.
- 46:04SPEAKER_06: Yeah, we can't say South Carolina laying two and a half minus 162.
- 46:08SPEAKER_06: I'll do that.
- 46:09SPEAKER_06: Sure, why not?
- 46:10SPEAKER_06: So they gotta win by a field goal or more.
- 46:12SPEAKER_06: I'm with we can handle that.
- 46:14SPEAKER_04: Yeah, that one point is huge when it comes to my pocket money.
- 46:17SPEAKER_06: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 46:18SPEAKER_06: No, it's true.
- 46:19SPEAKER_06: And to be, I mean, and I think it's worth pointing out.
- 46:21SPEAKER_06: I am very excited for Mississippi State.
- 46:22SPEAKER_06: I think they clearly have their guy.
- 46:24SPEAKER_06: I just think this is one.
- 46:25SPEAKER_06: I mean, Mississippi State's schedule is brutal.
- 46:27SPEAKER_06: And I think this is the first one of a stretch where it's just gonna be really tough.
- 46:30SPEAKER_06: Hopefully they can uh turn around and still make a bowl.
- 46:32SPEAKER_06: But I I think I think Gamecocks are gonna start 3-0.
- 46:35SPEAKER_06: We're gonna start talking about them sneaking to the rankings here in about a week.
- 46:39SPEAKER_03: And of course, we know Mississippi State just got back from Minnesota.
- 46:43SPEAKER_03: This is their second road trip.
- 46:44SPEAKER_03: Um, and so that's gotta that's got a wear on a guy.
- 46:48SPEAKER_04: Yep.
- 46:49SPEAKER_04: All right, one more before we get into our homers.
- 46:52SPEAKER_04: Arizona State is going to Kansas.
- 46:54SPEAKER_04: Kansas, a team I thought last Friday would do okay against Missouri, but they let me down.
- 47:00SPEAKER_04: Arizona State is a five and a half point favorite going into this game.
- 47:05SPEAKER_03: Kansas does not have their quarterback.
- 47:09SPEAKER_03: Missouri, Missouri just whipped him right into shape.
- 47:13SPEAKER_03: He cannot complete passes like he needs to.
- 47:16SPEAKER_03: He's a little small, he's a little slower than we want him to be at Kansas.
- 47:20SPEAKER_03: So uh go in or go Arizona State, this one.
- 47:24SPEAKER_06: Devils minus any number.
- 47:25SPEAKER_06: I think Kansas is bad.
- 47:26SPEAKER_06: I think what we saw last week was Missouri just beating up, and they could not block Missouri's front for anything.
- 47:32SPEAKER_06: I think Arizona State's got some decent athletes.
- 47:34SPEAKER_06: I think Reed Shepard is awesome.
- 47:35SPEAKER_06: I don't think anybody in Kansas is gonna be able to cover him.
- 47:38SPEAKER_06: Uh Cutter Bowley's gonna gash them up.
- 47:39SPEAKER_06: Kenny Dillingham's gonna have a plan for them.
- 47:42SPEAKER_06: Uh, I am all in on Arizona State minus any number.
- 47:45SPEAKER_06: They're gonna cover this.
- 47:46SPEAKER_06: My this would be my lock of the week if I if I had such a thing.
- 47:50SPEAKER_04: Love it.
- 47:51SPEAKER_04: I love it.
- 47:52SPEAKER_04: All right, it's homer time.
- 47:53SPEAKER_04: Darren, we're gonna take your Virginia Tech Hokies.
- 47:55SPEAKER_04: We're gonna drive up north, go up 81 for a little bit, and go take ourselves to Maryland.
- 48:01SPEAKER_04: This game is Saturday at 7:30 on Fox Sports One.
- 48:08SPEAKER_03: Coach Franklin in his press conference after last week's win.
- 48:11SPEAKER_04: I got I saw that.
- 48:13SPEAKER_03: Really quickly, he was like, you know, good good job, our team.
- 48:17SPEAKER_03: Next week we got a very drivable game here, Hokies fans.
- 48:21SPEAKER_03: And he was already pushing for like, we gotta fill that stadium.
- 48:25SPEAKER_03: Our fans are the greatest.
- 48:26SPEAKER_03: You know, he's like, we got a drivable game.
- 48:28SPEAKER_03: I want everybody to hit the interstate and get on up to Maryland.
- 48:31SPEAKER_03: I want to see everybody up there.
- 48:33SPEAKER_03: I thought that was so awesome.
- 48:35SPEAKER_03: Um and I say that because uh this game gives me a little pause.
- 48:41SPEAKER_03: Uh for some reason, uh Maryland has always been a little bit of a thorn in the side uh historically for the Hokies.
- 48:50SPEAKER_03: For you know, we've played them a handful of times, and I remember it just being a little closer than it should be.
- 48:55SPEAKER_03: Maybe that says more about the last 15 years of the Hokies.
- 48:59SPEAKER_03: But uh they've got a quarterback who can really do some things.
- 49:03SPEAKER_03: Uh I'm a little scared.
- 49:05SPEAKER_06: Washington's really good.
- 49:06SPEAKER_03: Yeah, Malik Washington.
- 49:07SPEAKER_03: Thank you.
- 49:08SPEAKER_03: He's really good.
- 49:09SPEAKER_03: He can do a lot of a lot of magic stuff.
- 49:11SPEAKER_03: I don't want to be, I don't want to be up by less than six points, you know, in the last couple minutes when a quarterback like that has the ball.
- 49:18SPEAKER_03: So uh it's it's just test time.
- 49:21SPEAKER_03: It's you know, it's it's gut check time for the Hokies.
- 49:23SPEAKER_03: They actually got to play a real team.
- 49:26SPEAKER_06: This is by far the biggest test they've had.
- 49:28SPEAKER_06: No disrespect to VMI and ODU, but this is the one, this is the game where it's gonna be a real challenge.
- 49:32SPEAKER_06: Uh oh Malik Washington's a great quarterback.
- 49:35SPEAKER_06: He's a sophomore.
- 49:36SPEAKER_06: He has he has some he has some wide receivers that were dropping everything last year.
- 49:40SPEAKER_06: They seem like they have that fixed.
- 49:41SPEAKER_06: They actually have some talent out wide.
- 49:43SPEAKER_06: Virginia Tech's biggest weakness is their offensive line.
- 49:46SPEAKER_06: And what Maryland doesn't really have is a defensive line or pass rush to really challenge them there.
- 49:51SPEAKER_06: I got Virginia Tech winning, but it's gonna be a close game.
- 49:54SPEAKER_06: It's gonna be a fight.
- 49:55SPEAKER_06: I'm really hoping that Virginia Tech can run the ball.
- 49:57SPEAKER_06: Uh, we're gonna need Marcellus Hawkins to kind of be that guy.
- 50:00SPEAKER_06: Um, Mr.
- 50:01SPEAKER_06: Overton as well.
- 50:02SPEAKER_06: They're gonna have to be able to keep the chains moving and not put too much on Grockenmeyer.
- 50:07SPEAKER_06: Um, I think I'm I'm seeing Virginia Tech run a lot of 12 and 13 personnel with uh Luke Reynolds and Gosnell.
- 50:12SPEAKER_06: And I think Maryland defense is not gonna have the ability to match up with that.
- 50:16SPEAKER_06: So I think that's the real advantage is uh Virginia Tech's not great offensive line against Maryland's really not great front seven.
- 50:25SPEAKER_06: And if they can, if that is just if they can just do that matchup to a draw, everything else other than home field kind of looks Virginia Tech's way, including coaching.
- 50:36SPEAKER_06: So I got the hookies um assuming they could protect Grunkenmeyer.
- 50:40SPEAKER_06: If they can, and yeah, this will be one of those games where like we're gonna know probably in the first quarter, because Maryland's gonna be excited.
- 50:45SPEAKER_06: It's a night game or two.
- 50:46SPEAKER_06: I think it's 7:30 a night in college park.
- 50:47SPEAKER_06: Yeah, they're I mean, Terrapins are gonna be fired up.
- 50:50SPEAKER_06: If Virginia Tech can kind of withstand that first initial wave, protect Grunkenmeyer, let him get the ball out of his hands, moving from first downs, they're gonna be they're gonna have a great night.
- 50:59SPEAKER_06: If they're getting after him, if they're harassing him, if they're rushing his throws, it could be really problematic really fast.
- 51:05SPEAKER_06: That's Ryan.
- 51:07SPEAKER_04: One of my favorite Hokies memories was a game.
- 51:09SPEAKER_04: I think it was a Thursday night around 2009.
- 51:11SPEAKER_04: Darius Hayward Bay was on Maryland, but David Wilson and Darren Evans ran over uh the Terrapins that game.
- 51:18SPEAKER_04: This, I was reading a little bit, uh, or actually was talking to some Penn State alum that were saying this is the type of game that James Franklin kind of steps on his, gets in his own way for.
- 51:28SPEAKER_04: So hopefully he can uh not have that happen now that he's with the Hokies and he's away from Penn State.
- 51:33SPEAKER_04: But I'm glad we can't bet on it here in the state of Virginia.
- 51:36SPEAKER_04: So we're gonna move on to Charlottesville.
- 51:39SPEAKER_04: Charlottesville, West Virginia, getting in their uh well, I was gonna say something, but I'll hold back on it.
- 51:45SPEAKER_04: They're gonna come in to Charlottesville on Saturday on the ACC network hosting uh UVA number 25 hosting West Virginia UVA with a 10.5 point favorite.
- 51:58SPEAKER_04: I've seen it as low as nine and a half, too.
- 52:00SPEAKER_04: Guys, what are your thoughts on UVA?
- 52:02SPEAKER_03: Well, hold on.
- 52:03SPEAKER_03: Remember where we're playing this game.
- 52:05SPEAKER_03: Quick correction.
- 52:05SPEAKER_04: Yeah, we're playing Virginia North Carolina and the Charlotte.
- 52:08SPEAKER_04: Oh, Charlotte, North Carolina.
- 52:10SPEAKER_06: Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 52:12SPEAKER_06: So the neutral site is the Duke's Mayo game.
- 52:17SPEAKER_06: Grab your mayonnaise and they're gonna go.
- 52:19SPEAKER_06: That's right.
- 52:20SPEAKER_06: Yes, they're gonna, they're literally going to hand fans walking as a major of mayonnaise.
- 52:24SPEAKER_06: Ask me how I know.
- 52:24SPEAKER_06: I've literally been there, done that with Darren.
- 52:27SPEAKER_06: So this is gonna be a fun game because both teams are really good at running the ball.
- 52:30SPEAKER_06: This game might, the clock might never stop.
- 52:33SPEAKER_06: There's gonna be so much running.
- 52:35SPEAKER_06: I really like I mean, I think Hawkins and Cook are great uh wide receiver running, sorry, quarterback running back duo for West Virginia.
- 52:42SPEAKER_06: I don't know how they're gonna stop UVA.
- 52:44SPEAKER_06: That offensive line is gonna push them around a lot.
- 52:47SPEAKER_06: What I think they're gonna do, I mean, this is what I would do if uh I was Rich Rodriguez, is pretty much put eight guys in the box and try and force Bo to throw.
- 52:56SPEAKER_06: This is the same thing that I kind of thought NC State's plan of attack would be.
- 53:00SPEAKER_06: They weren't ready for uh UVA's rushing attack.
- 53:03SPEAKER_06: I think West Virginia will be.
- 53:04SPEAKER_06: Can they answer it any better?
- 53:06SPEAKER_06: I don't think so, but that's what they're gonna do.
- 53:08SPEAKER_06: We haven't really seen Bo Prabhule.
- 53:10SPEAKER_06: We've seen what he can do with his legs.
- 53:12SPEAKER_06: That is a well, that man is healthy, he can move, got an offensive line, he's got guys he can hand the ball to.
- 53:17SPEAKER_06: UVA has a really awesome rushing attack.
- 53:20SPEAKER_06: Can he throw the ball if he's forced to?
- 53:23SPEAKER_06: I don't know that.
- 53:24SPEAKER_06: And but more importantly, I don't know if West Virginia can even force the issue.
- 53:28SPEAKER_06: I got UVA winning by 14 because I think they're I think their defense just isn't good enough.
- 53:32SPEAKER_06: I do think West Virginia will score.
- 53:34SPEAKER_06: I do think that offense is dynamic, but on the defensive side of the ball, they just they don't have it, they're not heavy enough.
- 53:39SPEAKER_06: What do you think?
- 53:41SPEAKER_03: Yeah, UVA by nine and a half or ten, I don't love that number because West Virginia just has that explosive offensive ability to backdoor cover at the very end.
- 53:50SPEAKER_03: And I hate that.
- 53:51SPEAKER_03: Absolutely, you know, if they're if UBA if UVA is up by 20, um, West Virginia could score two touchdowns in the fourth, and you know, nobody would care except for the betters who are laying 10 points.
- 54:02SPEAKER_03: Um But I do what I do like what you say about running the ball and UVA's offensive line.
- 54:07SPEAKER_03: I think the possessions uh are gonna be long and a lot of a lot of first downs, a lot of clock ticking, like you said, and so I like the under.
- 54:17SPEAKER_03: Yep.
- 54:17SPEAKER_03: Uh the under for this game over under is 54 and a half.
- 54:21SPEAKER_03: Like nobody's scoring 30 points in this game.
- 54:24SPEAKER_03: Uh it's gonna be a very few possessions, so yeah.
- 54:27SPEAKER_03: So I so I like the under mostly.
- 54:30SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 54:31SPEAKER_06: I we can't bet on it, but I but I agree with you just for just in spirit.
- 54:35SPEAKER_06: Yeah, can't can't bet on this one, but in spirit, I agree with you.
- 54:37SPEAKER_03: That's as much as I can vocally vocally support the Wahoos.
- 54:41SPEAKER_03: You know, I could nod to the under from my Wahoo friends out there.
- 54:45SPEAKER_03: Annobaar, I know you're listening.
- 54:46SPEAKER_03: Nod to the under.
- 54:47SPEAKER_06: West Virginia's got 600 yards rushing on the season, only 340 yards passing, just to kind of put into context the team that West Virginia is building.
- 54:55SPEAKER_06: That's classic Rich Rodriguez offense.
- 54:57SPEAKER_06: I mean, that's what they want to do.
- 54:59SPEAKER_06: But that's just it's a good being it's gonna be a highly entertaining game from just a perspective, just watching the game, you're gonna see some really fun uh rushing offenses.
- 55:06SPEAKER_06: Mark, you got anything to add?
- 55:08SPEAKER_04: Uh no, nothing at all.
- 55:10SPEAKER_04: I don't even know if I'll be watching this one.
- 55:12SPEAKER_04: I hate Mayo.
- 55:14SPEAKER_04: I can't stand it.
- 55:15SPEAKER_04: Let's move on.
- 55:16SPEAKER_04: All right, guys, I've got a bet for you here.
- 55:19SPEAKER_04: My Homer team of 2026, I'm joining the Iowa bandwagon, as you are aware.
- 55:24SPEAKER_04: Northern Iowa is coming to Iowa to play.
- 55:26SPEAKER_04: Now, Northern Iowa, uh late 2000, it was 2009-2010, it took back-to-back blocked field goals for Iowa to beat Northern Iowa.
- 55:37SPEAKER_04: They have a new coach coming in as of last season.
- 55:39SPEAKER_04: They're in a rebuilding era, but Iowa is favored by 40 and a half in this game.
- 55:46SPEAKER_04: I don't see Iowa scoring 40 total, let alone winning by 40.
- 55:50SPEAKER_04: What are your thoughts on that one?
- 55:53SPEAKER_06: So last time, last time Iowa played a school that was named Northern I something was Northern Illinois, and they won 40 to nothing.
- 56:00SPEAKER_06: What's the difference between Northern Illinois and Northern Iowa?
- 56:03SPEAKER_06: One's a Husky, one's a Panther.
- 56:06SPEAKER_06: That's about it.
- 56:07SPEAKER_06: Uh, I think Vegas is dead on.
- 56:08SPEAKER_06: I think 40 and a half is that's exactly what happened in week one.
- 56:12SPEAKER_06: I'm expecting the same thing to happen in week three.
- 56:14SPEAKER_06: I I I hate this game.
- 56:16SPEAKER_06: I don't know what to think.
- 56:18SPEAKER_04: I think it's a great warm-up for Iowa to take on Michigan.
- 56:21SPEAKER_03: When you say that you don't see Iowa scoring 40, do you mean next week?
- 56:25SPEAKER_03: Do you mean the rest of the season combined?
- 56:28SPEAKER_04: Oh, ouch! Look at that.
- 56:30SPEAKER_04: This is not this is not your Brian.
- 56:34SPEAKER_04: We are Iowa fans, not a jab.
- 56:38SPEAKER_03: Ah, no, not a jab.
- 56:38SPEAKER_03: Excuse me.
- 56:39SPEAKER_03: No, but it's true.
- 56:41SPEAKER_04: But look what they did against the worst team in the Big 12.
- 56:44SPEAKER_04: Iowa State is the lowest, the worst odds to win the Big 12, and they only won by a last second field goal.
- 56:51SPEAKER_04: I do like the drama of Iowa.
- 56:53SPEAKER_04: They will lower themselves to the competition.
- 56:55SPEAKER_04: I do not see them winning by 40 and a half, and I just might put that a little side bet for myself.
- 56:59SPEAKER_04: Not that I'm betting against the team to win.
- 57:01SPEAKER_04: I know they'll win, but I don't think they'll win by 41 or more.
- 57:08SPEAKER_03: Wake up, wake up on Saturday morning, uh, pour a cup of coffee.
- 57:12SPEAKER_03: We've been through this, go out in the backyard, check on the flowers, and bet the Iowa under.
- 57:17SPEAKER_03: You know, it's just like routine.
- 57:20SPEAKER_03: Just routine.
- 57:20SPEAKER_03: So the under whatever it is, 44 points or whatever.
- 57:23SPEAKER_06: It's 40, it's 48 and a half.
- 57:25SPEAKER_03: Under 48, yeah.
- 57:27SPEAKER_06: I'll take 40.
- 57:28SPEAKER_06: Yeah, I like that one a lot.
- 57:30SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 57:30SPEAKER_03: Let's do that.
- 57:31SPEAKER_06: Yeah, I even if I mean, I think the game's gonna be the exact same as it was last.
- 57:34SPEAKER_06: I think it's gonna be 42 to nothing or 38-nothing or something like that, just like the northern Iowa game, northern Illinois game.
- 57:40SPEAKER_06: Um, I Iowa just has only thrown the ball 70 times this whole this whole season.
- 57:45SPEAKER_06: 42, 42 completions.
- 57:47SPEAKER_06: I'm not is is I guess Hank Brown's the guy.
- 57:50SPEAKER_06: I mean, he's yeah, he is 66 per 66 completion, averaging 6.4 yards pass.
- 57:55SPEAKER_06: Not great.
- 57:56SPEAKER_06: Uh, one touchdown on the year.
- 57:58SPEAKER_06: So I, you know, I know that it's Iowa, but still, can we just get like a little bit more out of that guy, maybe?
- 58:04SPEAKER_06: Hopefully.
- 58:04SPEAKER_06: I don't know.
- 58:05SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I think they got stopped by Iowa State, and then they just decided to run all over northern Illinois.
- 58:10SPEAKER_04: So they really haven't shown how much of their passing game.
- 58:12SPEAKER_04: Tony Diaz to transfer in, I think it was like Rio Gran Valley State, some uh smaller school.
- 58:18SPEAKER_04: He's been really good as a wide receiver, but he's really one of the only wide receiver options that Hank Brown's been throwing to.
- 58:25SPEAKER_06: I mean, honestly, they need to be throwing the ball to that all-American tight end they have.
- 58:28SPEAKER_06: Uh DJ uh Von, how do you say it?
- 58:30SPEAKER_06: Vonaham, Vanaheim, six matches, uh 67 yards.
- 58:35SPEAKER_06: He's their best offensive player.
- 58:36SPEAKER_06: I mean, I really do like Bolton, the running back a lot, but DJ is a high NFL draft page.
- 58:41SPEAKER_06: Hey, news at 11.
- 58:42SPEAKER_06: Iowa has another NFL tight end.
- 58:45SPEAKER_06: Coloring me shocked.
- 58:46SPEAKER_06: Um, so I'd like to see him get more incorporated.
- 58:49SPEAKER_06: Maybe, maybe this is the game.
- 58:50SPEAKER_06: Maybe this is the office coming out right.
- 58:52SPEAKER_06: We're all gonna look silly betting on their 48.
- 58:53SPEAKER_06: I don't think so, but it could be.
- 58:56SPEAKER_04: Final game.
- 58:57SPEAKER_04: Sometimes, guys, I like to look at CBS Sports Line because they will actually go rank the teams from one to one thirty-eight.
- 59:03SPEAKER_04: Our final game we look at as our homer team will be the Tennessee Volunteers.
- 59:06SPEAKER_04: We'll be hosting.
- 59:08SPEAKER_04: So Tennessee comes in at 14.
- 59:09SPEAKER_04: They will be hosting number 121, Kennesaw State, 745 on the SEC network, and they are favored by 35 and a half.
- 59:20SPEAKER_03: Numbers too small.
- 59:23SPEAKER_06: Yeah, I get probably.
- 59:24SPEAKER_06: I mean, this is another, this is gonna be another monster day for Faison.
- 59:27SPEAKER_06: Uh I'm I'm assuming four or five or six touchdowns.
- 59:31SPEAKER_06: Uh, they probably cover.
- 59:33SPEAKER_06: They're already, I mean, the only reason they wouldn't cover, and I think this is a reasonable argument, is they are focused on hosting Texas next week.
- 59:40SPEAKER_06: By the way, they just got screwed by the scheduling gods.
- 59:43SPEAKER_06: They're hosting uh Texas Longhorns at noon, which is just a travesty for the Volves.
- 59:48SPEAKER_06: Like I imagine uh volunteer fans in our life would not happy about that.
- 59:51SPEAKER_06: Um, so you could my point is you could tell for this game, you could tell me Tennessee's not overlooking Kennesaw State.
- 59:58SPEAKER_06: Spoiler alert, they are.
- 1:00:00SPEAKER_06: So maybe that's why they don't cover, but I Kennesaw State's not gonna score.
- 1:00:04SPEAKER_06: Is Faison Branson gonna get four touchdowns or six touchdowns?
- 1:00:07SPEAKER_06: That's good.
- 1:00:07SPEAKER_06: That's the question.
- 1:00:08SPEAKER_06: The question is does Faison Brandon want to get that much work?
- 1:00:13SPEAKER_06: I say yes.
- 1:00:14SPEAKER_06: I say Tennessee covers.
- 1:00:15SPEAKER_06: I don't know.
- 1:00:16SPEAKER_03: This is a game going through our Yeah, this is one where I would take I would take that first half line as well because who knows what the heck the coaches are gonna decide to do in the second half when you're up by 22 points or whatever.
- 1:00:30SPEAKER_03: And so if there's like a first half, Tennessee minus probably 20.
- 1:00:35SPEAKER_06: 20 and a half.
- 1:00:36SPEAKER_03: 20 and a half?
- 1:00:37SPEAKER_03: What a great number.
- 1:00:38SPEAKER_03: We said that about Oregon.
- 1:00:39SPEAKER_03: Like that.
- 1:00:39SPEAKER_03: It worked out well.
- 1:00:40SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 1:00:42SPEAKER_06: Horribly.
- 1:00:43SPEAKER_03: Let's hey, it'll work this time.
- 1:00:44SPEAKER_03: I'll I'm I'm I'm I'm down with that.
- 1:00:46SPEAKER_03: First half, Tennessee.
- 1:00:47SPEAKER_03: First half, 21 points, Tennessee.
- 1:00:49SPEAKER_03: I think they I think they'll be really excited to score 20, 21, 24, 28.
- 1:00:54SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 1:00:55SPEAKER_06: That's gonna be let's make that our last leg.
- 1:00:57SPEAKER_06: We're at nine legs today, so I think we're we're getting up there.
- 1:01:00SPEAKER_04: All right, let's go through those nine legs.
- 1:01:02SPEAKER_04: We've got the LSU money line.
- 1:01:04SPEAKER_04: We've got the LSU Ole Miss under at 58.
- 1:01:07SPEAKER_04: We have Houston, plus seven and a half, we have Louisville, minus one and a half.
- 1:01:12SPEAKER_04: We have the under on Northern Iowa, Iowa.
- 1:01:15SPEAKER_04: Did we count that one in?
- 1:01:17SPEAKER_04: We talked about it.
- 1:01:18SPEAKER_04: Did we lock it in?
- 1:01:19SPEAKER_04: All right.
- 1:01:19SPEAKER_04: We have the under on Florida and Auburn at 53.5.
- 1:01:23SPEAKER_04: We have South Carolina with an alternate spread of minus two and a half, and then Arizona State minus anything and everything.
- 1:01:31SPEAKER_04: Listed five and a half, taken at five and a half.
- 1:01:35SPEAKER_06: And then the Tennessee and then Tennessee minus the five.
- 1:01:38SPEAKER_06: Oh, the Tennessee first half.
- 1:01:39SPEAKER_06: First half of goodness.
- 1:01:41SPEAKER_06: Okay, those nine legs on FanDuel, ten dollars wins you two thousand two hundred and forty-seven dollars and thirty-eight cents for your Mike Blitz parlay of the week.
- 1:01:52SPEAKER_06: Week three.
- 1:01:54SPEAKER_06: It's gonna hit 200 to one.
- 1:01:56SPEAKER_06: Yeah, it's gonna hit 225 to one.
- 1:01:59SPEAKER_06: I I love it.
- 1:02:00SPEAKER_06: I love it.
- 1:02:01SPEAKER_06: I'm looking at this cheap.
- 1:02:02SPEAKER_06: I can't see the bet I don't like.
- 1:02:03SPEAKER_06: I I see all I see is a bunch of winners.
- 1:02:06SPEAKER_06: That's gonna win.
- 1:02:06SPEAKER_06: That's gonna win.
- 1:02:07SPEAKER_06: That's I'm gonna see a bunch of winners.
- 1:02:08SPEAKER_06: That's all I got.
- 1:02:09SPEAKER_06: All right, folks.
- 1:02:10SPEAKER_06: That's it.
- 1:02:10SPEAKER_06: That is exactly.
