- 0:00Speaker 1: And Football and four is powered by the Inside of
- 0:02Speaker 1: the Birds Podcast. It's brought to you by the Fanatics
- 0:05Speaker 1: Sports book at Ocean Casino Resort in Atlantic City. Of course,
- 0:09Speaker 1: game day is different at Ocean Casino. And the Eagles
- 0:13Speaker 1: back at training camp today. And while they got back
- 0:16Speaker 1: at training camp today, they made a huge announcement. We
- 0:19Speaker 1: talked about it earlier in the show. Adam Kaplan is
- 0:23Speaker 1: here from the Inside the Birds podcast, and the Eagles
- 0:26Speaker 1: are signing Jalen Carter to a four year deal one
- 0:30Speaker 1: hundred and fifty two million worth up to one sixty
- 0:33Speaker 1: one hundred and six million dollars guaranteed. Adam Kaplan, he
- 0:37Speaker 1: is the highest paid defensive tackle in NFL history. So
- 0:40Speaker 1: it puts the rets the future of Jalen Carter in Philadelphia.
- 0:45Speaker 2: He will be in Philadelphia.
- 0:48Speaker 3: Yeah, my Kobe sign once he signed it. He's agreed
- 0:50Speaker 3: to it through twenty thirty one. I do. First of all,
- 0:54Speaker 3: the average per season is incredible at thirty eight million,
- 0:58Speaker 3: blows away Theofree Simmons.
- 1:00Speaker 2: Deeal.
- 1:01Speaker 3: I'm I have the Simmons steal. I've had it for
- 1:03Speaker 3: a while and I've been studying it, and I'm really
- 1:07Speaker 3: curious what the real structure looks like. Simmons. Of the
- 1:11Speaker 3: one hundred million dollar one hundred million of total guarantees,
- 1:15Speaker 3: sixty point two million was fully guaranteed at sign That
- 1:18Speaker 3: means if they cut Simmons today to Titans, it would
- 1:21Speaker 3: still home with sixty point two million. So what is
- 1:23Speaker 3: the Eagles walk away guarantee? I'd like to see that
- 1:27Speaker 3: Jeffrey Simmons has what are called advanced guarantees. Like what
- 1:30Speaker 3: that means is if he's on the roster this March,
- 1:33Speaker 3: the next year becomes fully guaranteed. That's the way a
- 1:35Speaker 3: lot of deals are done. So there's a lot we
- 1:37Speaker 3: don't know about the structure. But I am blown away
- 1:40Speaker 3: that the Eagles with two years left. Remember now Jalen
- 1:43Speaker 3: Carter Mike had two years left on his deal because
- 1:45Speaker 3: they picked up his fifth year option. That they did
- 1:49Speaker 3: something most people are on the league thought, how he
- 1:51Speaker 3: wouldn't do like beat blow away Jeffrey Simmons steel in
- 1:53Speaker 3: an average per season. Now, structure means everything. Remember Simmons
- 1:57Speaker 3: signed a three year extension and Carter signed a fourth
- 2:00Speaker 3: two years left, So this is going to keep them
- 2:02Speaker 3: under contract. That's what the that's what the give back
- 2:06Speaker 3: is Drew Rosenhaus and Carter had to agree to a
- 2:08Speaker 3: longer deal for cap and cash purposes CAP two. That's
- 2:12Speaker 3: a big deal, but that is a I mean, I
- 2:14Speaker 3: give Drew Rosenhewk's credit. I did not think Howie would
- 2:18Speaker 3: do something like this, But Drew's a deal maker. How
- 2:20Speaker 3: He's a deal maker. They've done dozens, if not hundreds
- 2:23Speaker 3: of deals together going back over twenty years, because how
- 2:27Speaker 3: Drew's had a lot of players on the Eagles. And
- 2:29Speaker 3: I give both sides credit, you know, I give both
- 2:32Speaker 3: sides credit for getting it done, this kind of massive
- 2:36Speaker 3: deal this early. That it's good work by both sides.
- 2:38Speaker 1: Absolutely. I mean, we had questions on whether and they
- 2:41Speaker 1: even wanted to do this. I guess those questions have
- 2:43Speaker 1: been answered and some and then we know they have
- 2:46Speaker 1: you know, Cooper and Quinnon coming down the pipeline as well,
- 2:49Speaker 1: so I guess they wanted to get this out of
- 2:51Speaker 1: the way.
- 2:52Speaker 3: Yeah, you get what's called cost certainty. So I talked
- 2:54Speaker 3: to Selle recently, who worked at Nigo's frontoff for many years,
- 2:58Speaker 3: and I said, what are your thoughts on the Carter?
- 3:00Speaker 3: He goes, listen, this is what I know, he goes,
- 3:02Speaker 3: I'd like to get a deal done with Carter on
- 3:05Speaker 3: their terms. It's going to be hard to get a
- 3:07Speaker 3: deal done because they're gonna want Simmons deal. And he goes,
- 3:11Speaker 3: I just can't see how he doing that. This is
- 3:13Speaker 3: a guy worked with Howard for many years, and you know,
- 3:18Speaker 3: I'm gonna I texted the guy said, what are your thoughts,
- 3:20Speaker 3: because I'm not I said, I'm not blaming you, but
- 3:21Speaker 3: I just you're like most reasonable people. No one thought
- 3:24Speaker 3: he can get a deal like this. What are your thoughts?
- 3:25Speaker 3: And he doesn't texted me back yet. But uh, this
- 3:29Speaker 3: guy knows how he very well. Yeah so, and I
- 3:31Speaker 3: can tell you who it is. But this guy's got
- 3:34Speaker 3: to be stunned. This is not how he sometimes is.
- 3:38Speaker 3: You know, if you go back to Joe Banner, Joe
- 3:39Speaker 3: is the one who would always want to get deals
- 3:41Speaker 3: early and how he copied off of that and rightfully,
- 3:43Speaker 3: so that's why they're so successful. But with Carter's shoulders
- 3:47Speaker 3: and this, by the way, Mike, this tells you that
- 3:49Speaker 3: they have no problem with his shoulders. You when you're
- 3:52Speaker 3: not doing that deal like this, like they know because
- 3:55Speaker 3: he didn't have shot he didn't have surgery. He had
- 3:57Speaker 3: the injections last December. They know that. Other than it
- 4:02Speaker 3: being naggen, which we reported when he was drafted, they
- 4:05Speaker 3: have no problem with it. That's also what it tells you.
- 4:07Speaker 3: It's amazing.
- 4:09Speaker 1: All right, Adam Kaplan, there you go the breaking news
- 4:11Speaker 1: Jalen Carter broke around one o'clock this afternoon that Carter
- 4:15Speaker 1: was signing this huge deal, and we have it for
- 4:17Speaker 1: you here on Football at For.
- 4:19Speaker 2: On the day the Eagles report the camp. Let's get into.
- 4:22Speaker 3: That, yeah man, Yeah, So yeah, tomorrow at ten am,
- 4:27Speaker 3: the first practice. Everyone's got to be there. Everybody's got
- 4:29Speaker 3: to report. And the function of this segment Tay on
- 4:34Speaker 3: the Football For is to explain the details of what
- 4:37Speaker 3: really goes on in training camp and the importance of
- 4:39Speaker 3: it versus OTAs. We'll talk about that camp battles. We'll
- 4:44Speaker 3: talk about joining practice versus normal practices. What's the difference
- 4:47Speaker 3: between both of them, how teams view them. We're gonna
- 4:50Speaker 3: over a lot of things today in this fifty minute
- 4:51Speaker 3: segment here.
- 4:52Speaker 2: Yeah, well, let's take a look at it.
- 4:54Speaker 1: Because right, the Eagles report today, that doesn't mean they
- 4:57Speaker 1: practice today.
- 4:57Speaker 2: What is reporting mean? What is that.
- 5:00Speaker 3: Yeah. So first of all, Mike, you're not allowed to
- 5:02Speaker 3: practice the day that you report. What happens is their
- 5:05Speaker 3: team meetings, you meet with overall, Sirianni will give a
- 5:08Speaker 3: speech to the team in the Jefferson Health Training Complex.
- 5:12Speaker 3: I have to make sure I get that right over here.
- 5:15Speaker 2: No ring to that.
- 5:16Speaker 3: No, I know, I know it's kind of weird. It's
- 5:18Speaker 3: it's it's kind of different. But uh, you know the
- 5:22Speaker 3: complex is going to change because with no care out,
- 5:27Speaker 3: it's actually the facility is going to change a little bit.
- 5:30Speaker 3: That's I'm looking forward to when I go what it
- 5:32Speaker 3: looks like. But so Sirianni will talk to the team
- 5:35Speaker 3: in front of the team. Then they all meet in
- 5:36Speaker 3: position groups. They have what's called a a well you
- 5:40Speaker 3: get by the way, they get all team physical. They
- 5:42Speaker 3: have to get a physical and then they have the
- 5:46Speaker 3: conditioning test, which is either that tomorrow where it's either
- 5:48Speaker 3: Wednesday morning before practice. And also, Mike, if you don't
- 5:53Speaker 3: pass it, you go on the what's called the non
- 5:56Speaker 3: football injury list and you can't come off of it
- 5:57Speaker 3: until you pass it. And it's funny, I know with
- 6:01Speaker 3: Bill Belichick when he was the head coach, of the Patriots.
- 6:03Speaker 3: Sometimes it would take two or three days for guys
- 6:05Speaker 3: to pass it. Like they're pretty you know, it's whatever
- 6:09Speaker 3: whatever is in it. It could be gassers. I've actually
- 6:11Speaker 3: seen it before over the years of my training camp travels.
- 6:15Speaker 3: I was actually at it. I had to go to
- 6:18Speaker 3: tape an interview when I was allowed to watch it.
- 6:19Speaker 3: It's kind of funny, but they're usually three or four
- 6:22Speaker 3: things they have the players do and they time it.
- 6:24Speaker 3: But yeah, so that's that's today, that's Tuesday, and then
- 6:29Speaker 3: that that's the morning tomorrow, and then the practice. Mike,
- 6:33Speaker 3: what you're going to see is these The first week
- 6:36Speaker 3: is always short. You've got the practices Wednesday and Thursday,
- 6:40Speaker 3: Friday off you walk throughs. And by the way, they
- 6:44Speaker 3: what's going to pre practice walk through? They always have
- 6:46Speaker 3: one for every practice. Now, going back when I started
- 6:50Speaker 3: covering the league in the early two thousands, they didn't
- 6:52Speaker 3: do any of this stuff. It's real simple. Other than
- 6:54Speaker 3: they would have you would have to pass the conditioning
- 6:56Speaker 3: test and testing physical. What they would do is in
- 7:01Speaker 3: the morning. Because at Lehigh I did cover the team
- 7:03Speaker 3: when they were in Westchester, but when they were in Lehigh, Mike,
- 7:07Speaker 3: you would have the practice of the morning and then
- 7:10Speaker 3: the special teams practice in the afternoon, and I think
- 7:14Speaker 3: I went to one special teams practice. What a complete
- 7:17Speaker 3: waste of time for US reporters. But Mike, it's very interesting,
- 7:20Speaker 3: it's very important. Those would be very short, where the
- 7:23Speaker 3: morning practices for Andy Reid would be two to two
- 7:27Speaker 3: and a half hours. What are they now? They're either
- 7:30Speaker 3: forty five minutes to an hour and forty five that's
- 7:33Speaker 3: what you're going to look like throughout camp?
- 7:35Speaker 2: All right?
- 7:36Speaker 1: Well, obviously training camp is the beginning process of getting
- 7:41Speaker 1: ready for the season.
- 7:43Speaker 2: But they did some OTA stuff.
- 7:46Speaker 1: What kind of development do they use from those practices
- 7:50Speaker 1: that they had back in the spring.
- 7:52Speaker 3: Yeah, Mike, as you set it up, it's very important
- 7:54Speaker 3: to understand. So what happens was it's really I remember
- 7:58Speaker 3: Hall of Fame German manager Bill Polly into me that
- 8:01Speaker 3: because we had talked over years when I when I
- 8:02Speaker 3: work with them at ESPN about the value of OTAs
- 8:06Speaker 3: in training camp and for the veterans. He said, you know,
- 8:08Speaker 3: when I really think about it, the veterans didn't really
- 8:12Speaker 3: have to go to OTS as much as I wanted
- 8:13Speaker 3: them to go. It didn't really do. If you've been
- 8:15Speaker 3: in the league five or six years, you don't really
- 8:18Speaker 3: need OTAs. The rookies, the drafted players on directed free agents,
- 8:25Speaker 3: first and second year players really need the OTAs because
- 8:28Speaker 3: you got to get the timing down, They got to
- 8:30Speaker 3: check your technique. So there's a ton of value for
- 8:33Speaker 3: young players in ots It's not about where they are
- 8:35Speaker 3: as a football player, it's just can you take direction?
- 8:39Speaker 3: If you're a rookie, how much do you care? How
- 8:41Speaker 3: much do you prepare or are you showing up well?
- 8:44Speaker 3: Then you fail forward at six weeks to where we
- 8:46Speaker 3: are now? Where we are now? Okay? So you take
- 8:49Speaker 3: what these kids learn in OTAs and how is their retention?
- 8:54Speaker 3: What were they doing when they were away? Are they
- 8:57Speaker 3: in shape? Did they get heavy? Were they in the
- 8:59Speaker 3: back with circuit when they were away? Like, what were
- 9:01Speaker 3: they doing? So you get to see how serious they
- 9:04Speaker 3: are and and their cognitive ability. You're you're going to
- 9:07Speaker 3: see their reactions to everything that they're being asked. So
- 9:11Speaker 3: there's tremendous value from going to OTAs and training camp
- 9:16Speaker 3: for the younger players. So it's not so much when
- 9:19Speaker 3: the reporters go, Okay, guy makes a great play. Well,
- 9:21Speaker 3: any player could do that's drafted because they're good enough
- 9:24Speaker 3: to get drafted. It's are they making the mental errors?
- 9:26Speaker 3: How good is their retention? That's something I'll be looking for,
- 9:30Speaker 3: you know, the more that I go, Okay, it's a
- 9:33Speaker 3: guy line up correctly from what I understand that it's
- 9:35Speaker 3: supposed to look like. And don't forget Mike. For the
- 9:37Speaker 3: offensive players, you have a scheme. They've never run before
- 9:40Speaker 3: with this group, so they're very important. To answer your question,
- 9:44Speaker 3: it's very important for the younger players to show growth
- 9:46Speaker 3: from OTAs to training camp.
- 9:48Speaker 1: All right, well, we got guys at training camp starting tomorrow.
- 9:53Speaker 1: I don't know what what do you see as some
- 9:55Speaker 1: camp battles here? I mean most people look at this
- 9:57Speaker 1: roster and can almost rattle off the starting one. Are
- 10:01Speaker 1: there can't battles that inside? The birds will be watching.
- 10:06Speaker 3: Yeah, there are a ton of them. So the number
- 10:09Speaker 3: three running back job will stay on offense. First, Damian
- 10:12Speaker 3: Pierce Elgi Mitchell could they push will Shipley. Mitchell is
- 10:15Speaker 3: a West Coast offensive run specialist. He's here because it
- 10:19Speaker 3: was ability to make one cup and get and get
- 10:21Speaker 3: upfield that got him drafted by the San Francisco forty
- 10:25Speaker 3: nine ers. Mike five. He was drafted twenty one, the
- 10:30Speaker 3: six round pick out of Louisiana Lafayette. Okay, he he's
- 10:36Speaker 3: had a terrible injury history, but he's talented. And then
- 10:39Speaker 3: Damian Pierce, Okay, he's played in this offense before, not
- 10:42Speaker 3: very well. He's better at the scheme that he first
- 10:46Speaker 3: played with the Texans. He's bounce around a little bit.
- 10:48Speaker 3: Can those guys challenge him at tight end? Ken cam
- 10:53Speaker 3: Law to challenge Johnny Munt to be their y ten end.
- 10:56Speaker 3: That's the inline blocker. God, it will play some of
- 10:58Speaker 3: the why, but he's going to be or of what
- 11:00Speaker 3: we call the f tad end, the move tight end.
- 11:02Speaker 3: But Ken Latsu, who's much younger than Johnny Munt, Kenny
- 11:05Speaker 3: push him. Let's not forget Mike. The Jaguars cut Johnny Munt.
- 11:09Speaker 3: So there's some battles. Who's going to be the top
- 11:12Speaker 3: backup guard. He goes have no idea who that's going
- 11:14Speaker 3: to be, Whether it's Holland Pierce getting cross train in,
- 11:17Speaker 3: Michael Morris, Willie Lampkin, who's everybody's training camp potential superstar,
- 11:23Speaker 3: Miles Sinton, who's going to get cross trained guard Mike,
- 11:26Speaker 3: this is a big that's a battle on the backup
- 11:28Speaker 3: receivers jobs. Hollywood Brown will be on the team no
- 11:31Speaker 3: matter what the five million that he's going to be
- 11:33Speaker 3: paid his fully against. He's not going anywhere. Ken Darius Cooper,
- 11:38Speaker 3: Johnny Wilson, Erojah Moore, Danny Gray, Samari Tore who playing
- 11:44Speaker 3: the scheme with the Packers, eric as Akama, who's a
- 11:48Speaker 3: former fourth round pick for the Dolphins, Mike who's got
- 11:52Speaker 3: really good size out of Texas Tech. He said a
- 11:54Speaker 3: lot of the number of injuries in his career and
- 11:55Speaker 3: he just has never made it. Can Ednedy's guys pushed
- 11:58Speaker 3: for the number four, number five job, more than number
- 12:01Speaker 3: five job, and maybe number six if someone's great. So, Mike,
- 12:05Speaker 3: there are plenty of battles on offense for this football team, yep.
- 12:10Speaker 1: And obviously, as you mentioned, there'll be interesting to see
- 12:13Speaker 1: the depth on the offensive line, the depth at wide receiver.
- 12:18Speaker 1: Those two on the offensive side obviously stand out.
- 12:21Speaker 3: Uh.
- 12:21Speaker 1: And then there are younger players and the importance for
- 12:24Speaker 1: younger players in camp burst of veteran players because this
- 12:27Speaker 1: team is a really nice mix.
- 12:29Speaker 3: Mm hmm, Mike. Here's here's where it gets interesting. So
- 12:32Speaker 3: you know you're allowed to wear pads there for the
- 12:34Speaker 3: five day acclamation period. And it's not that your Eagles
- 12:38Speaker 3: don't hit, but getting pads on players and coaches know
- 12:42Speaker 3: it's more serious. And then when they get to when
- 12:46Speaker 3: they when they get to training camp and we talked
- 12:48Speaker 3: just about offense, you know this is where je Exxon
- 12:53Speaker 3: and Nolan Smith could get more physical. This is where
- 12:56Speaker 3: they could they key, you can't touch the quarterback and
- 12:58Speaker 3: not allowed to. But this is where you get to
- 13:00Speaker 3: see where where their pass rush development is. This is
- 13:03Speaker 3: where we get to learn about Riek Wollen now can
- 13:06Speaker 3: get physical a corner. The no more flag football and
- 13:08Speaker 3: O T a's that's what O T O T a's are.
- 13:11Speaker 3: Passing camps are mostly.
- 13:12Speaker 2: Seven on seven.
- 13:13Speaker 3: Well, now you can now you could be way more physical.
- 13:16Speaker 3: We're going to see Cooper to she and Mike play
- 13:18Speaker 3: safafety for the first time as the NFL player. Like
- 13:21Speaker 3: this is this is a value of O T A
- 13:23Speaker 3: versus train camp. Now things get serious. The the tempo
- 13:29Speaker 3: Mike is way faster and as they said earlier, you're
- 13:33Speaker 3: gonna learn, You're gonna learn where players are from a
- 13:35Speaker 3: mental standpoint. And then we're also going to learn Mike,
- 13:38Speaker 3: we're Jona and Grenard coming back from a shoulder surgery.
- 13:40Speaker 3: We don't know where where is also Jihad Campbell, a
- 13:43Speaker 3: first year starter. Where's he coming back? That's the other
- 13:46Speaker 3: thing that we get answered from off season is guy's
- 13:48Speaker 3: coming back from surgery. And obviously Kim Jurgens and Landon
- 13:52Speaker 3: Dickerson coming off of their their being beat up physically
- 13:55Speaker 3: last season? Where are they at? And Lane Johnson is
- 13:57Speaker 3: as well coming off surgery.
- 13:59Speaker 1: Adam Camplin football at four the last thing you know,
- 14:02Speaker 1: you take a look at. We know they're gonna have
- 14:06Speaker 1: a joint practice with the Patriots coming up. And the
- 14:09Speaker 1: world has changed where preseason games used to be where
- 14:14Speaker 1: some of these can't battles and the younger players would
- 14:17Speaker 1: get some NFL speed experience. But it seems that the
- 14:21Speaker 1: value of the joint practice versus normal practices and how
- 14:26Speaker 1: teams view these has completely changed.
- 14:29Speaker 3: It's changed, as a matter of fact, what what teams
- 14:31Speaker 3: do now? Right with joint practice if the veterans, but
- 14:35Speaker 3: for now now egles are scheduled for two practices not
- 14:37Speaker 3: one now sometimes teams depending on when you have them,
- 14:41Speaker 3: If the teams think they're beat up, they'll they'll they'll
- 14:43Speaker 3: just cancel one of them. But right now they're gonna
- 14:45Speaker 3: have two. And what happens is if the veterans fully
- 14:49Speaker 3: participate in joints. They don't, they don't, they won't participate
- 14:53Speaker 3: in the preseason game. And if let's say, the first
- 14:56Speaker 3: practice looks great, they might pull them out of the
- 14:58Speaker 3: second practice. It's just that's the value of the joint practice.
- 15:02Speaker 3: Now what else can you get? And the normal practice,
- 15:05Speaker 3: you're going against your same players right on offensive defense.
- 15:09Speaker 3: In the joint practice, you're getting different looks. They don't
- 15:12Speaker 3: run you're exactly the way that you run it. The
- 15:14Speaker 3: schemes are completely different in this case, so you're going
- 15:18Speaker 3: to get different looks, different different personal and then the
- 15:20Speaker 3: other one the intrinsic benefit. Mike Eagles learn this. Nine
- 15:24Speaker 3: years ago, Legals went against Jay Jai and the Dolphins
- 15:27Speaker 3: at a joint practice here in Philly. What happened. They
- 15:29Speaker 3: traded for the trade deadline. You get the practice tape.
- 15:33Speaker 3: You cannot share it with other teams, but you have
- 15:35Speaker 3: the tape the two days of practice against the Patriots.
- 15:39Speaker 3: Not that you know the Patriots. The Eagles are competing
- 15:41Speaker 3: against them for the Super Bowl in terms of they're
- 15:43Speaker 3: a different conference, but they maybe look if the Patriots
- 15:46Speaker 3: shocked me and get back to the Super Bowl and
- 15:48Speaker 3: Eagles are in it, I mean, you never know. You
- 15:50Speaker 3: never know. But if the Patriots wound up being bad
- 15:53Speaker 3: or the Eagles look bad at the trade deadline and
- 15:56Speaker 3: they want to move a player, both teams can go
- 15:58Speaker 3: back to that practice tape. So that that's very important.
- 16:01Speaker 3: And clubs in general love them now. Amy Reid told
- 16:04Speaker 3: me many years ago didn't like them, decided he didn't
- 16:07Speaker 3: want to do them. Why too many fights? Pete Carrol
- 16:10Speaker 3: same way, who's now not coaching the Raiders anywhere he's fired.
- 16:14Speaker 3: Coaches in general like them very much, particularly the younger coaches.
- 16:19Speaker 3: A lot of veterans like it too. But I don't
- 16:22Speaker 3: know about you, Mike, if you've ever been a training
- 16:23Speaker 3: camp when they have fights, it's so ridiculous because the
- 16:26Speaker 3: guys are generally wearing their masks. You're not going to
- 16:29Speaker 3: take your helmet off when you're in the middle of
- 16:33Speaker 3: a fight. You don't have time to do it, so
- 16:35Speaker 3: it's they're kind of useless. There's a lot of pushing
- 16:38Speaker 3: and shoving and when you're in ninety degree. Whether Mike
- 16:41Speaker 3: Teppers are gonna flare, the tempers are going to flare.
- 16:44Speaker 3: Though the summer this sees so far has been actually
- 16:47Speaker 3: quite mild.
- 16:49Speaker 1: I'm annoyed at the thought of practicing outside and I'm
- 16:52Speaker 1: not even out there because it is nasty and hot
- 16:55Speaker 1: this time of the year. By Way, Eagles return to
- 16:59Speaker 1: the radio on ninety seven three ESPN with their first
- 17:02Speaker 1: preseason game. Yes, we're already looking at the preseason. You
- 17:06Speaker 1: think Sirianni will play a lot of guys like you know,
- 17:09Speaker 1: I'm talking about like Lemon. You know some of the rookies.
- 17:14Speaker 1: Do you think they'll get some preseason snaps?
- 17:16Speaker 3: Lemon should need it, Mike because he remember he missed
- 17:18Speaker 3: a chunk of the offseason with their hamstring injury. Yeah,
- 17:21Speaker 3: I would only only certain places. He does it situationally,
- 17:25Speaker 3: like it's funny when any Ree was here, as you remember, Mike,
- 17:29Speaker 3: either nobody played, or if they had to play, it
- 17:31Speaker 3: might be for a series or a play. I remember
- 17:35Speaker 3: when he had McNabb playing, he played. He went in
- 17:38Speaker 3: and for one play and any Sears response was he
- 17:41Speaker 3: wanted to see what it was like for mcdabd to
- 17:43Speaker 3: get his feet on grass. And I was like, what, like,
- 17:46Speaker 3: I don't get that, you know, you know any any
- 17:49Speaker 3: super quirky who knows? But yeah, more if you look
- 17:53Speaker 3: at Nick's career, some some of a lot of veterans
- 17:57Speaker 3: don't play at all. And remember Mike something. We'll get
- 18:00Speaker 3: to that when they have their first preseason game. If
- 18:03Speaker 3: you don't play your starting offensive line, it's extremely rare
- 18:07Speaker 3: that you would play your starting quarterback behind a backup
- 18:09Speaker 3: off sensive line. I know it's happened before, but you
- 18:12Speaker 3: don't want to do that. That's too much risk.
- 18:14Speaker 1: All right, Adam kaplan everybody, and it's football at four
- 18:17Speaker 1: and the Eagles are back, And as we mentioned, they'll
- 18:19Speaker 1: be back on the field for the first time on
- 18:21Speaker 1: ninety seven to three ESPN Saturday, August fifteenth at Baltimore
- 18:28Speaker 1: against the Ravens. They'll follow out up on Saturday, August
- 18:31Speaker 1: twenty second at New England and then Friday, August twenty
- 18:35Speaker 1: eighth against Cincinnati, a three game preseason slate. All three
- 18:39Speaker 1: games can be heard on ninety seven three ESPN. By Friday,
- 18:44Speaker 1: when Adam is back, the Eagles will be out of
- 18:46Speaker 1: practice a couple of days and we'll have some observations
- 18:48Speaker 1: and more for you here on the Sports Bash. Adam,
- 18:51Speaker 1: it's great to have football back, it's great to have
- 18:54Speaker 1: Inside the Birds and Football at four for another season.
- 18:57Speaker 3: Can't wait. My thanks.
