- 0:30The introit. The law of truth was in his mouth and iniquity was not found in his lips. He walked with me in peace and in equity and turned many away from iniquity. Hearken my people to my teaching. Incline your ears to the words of my mouth.
- 0:55Glory be to the father and to the son and to the holy ghost as it was in the beginning is now and will be through all ages of ages. Amen. The law of truth was in his mouth and iniquity was not found in his lips. He walked with me in peace and in equity and turned many away from iniquity. The Collect.
- 1:27Let us pray. O God, who enabled blessed Irenaeus, thy martyr and bishop, to overcome heresies by the truth of doctrine and happily to establish peace in the church. We beseech thee, give to thy people constancy in holy religion and grant us thy peace in our time through our Lord Jesus Christ, thy Son, who liveth and reigneth with thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God through all ages of ages. Amen. A lesson from the second letter of Saint Paul the Apostle to Timothy.
- 2:14Beloved, it is for thee to hold fast by the doctrine handed on to thee, the charge committed to thee. Thou knowest well from whom that tradition came. Thou canst remember the holy learning thou hast been taught from childhood upwards. This will train the up for salvation through the faith which rests in Christ Jesus. Everything in the scripture has been divinely inspired and has its uses to instruct us, to expose our errors, to correct our faults, to educate us in holy living.
- 2:57So God's servant will become a master of his craft, and each noble task that comes will find him ready for it. I adjure thee in the sight of God and of Jesus Christ who is to be the judge of living and dead in the name of his coming and of his kingdom. Preach the word, dwelling upon it continually, welcome or unwelcome. Bring home wrongdoing. Comfort the waiver.
- 3:32Rebuke the center with all the patience of a teacher. The time will surely come when men will grow tired of sound doctrine, always itching to hear something fresh. And so they will provide themselves with a continuous succession of new teachers as the whim takes them turning a deaf ear to the truth, bestowing their attention upon fables. It is for thee to be on the watch, to accept every hardship, to employ thyself in preaching the gospel, and perform every duty of thy office. The gradual, for love of my brethren and my familiar friends, peace is still my prayer for thee.
- 4:28Vigilantly preserve innocence and keep the right before thy eyes. He who lives peaceably will leave a race behind him. Alleluia. Alleluia. Where the prudent elders gather, take thy stand, and with attentive heart, embrace their wisdom.
- 4:51So shalt thou learn all God has to tell thee. Alleluia. A continuation of the holy gospel according to Matthew. At that time, Jesus said to his disciples, there is no need to fear those who kill the body, but have no means of killing the soul. Fear him more who has the power to ruin body and soul in hell.
- 5:24Are not sparrows sold two for a penny? And yet it is impossible for one of them to fall to the ground without your heavenly father's will. And as for you, he takes every hair of your head into his reckoning. Do not be afraid then. You count for more than a host of sparrows.
- 5:49And now whoever acknowledges me before men, I too will acknowledge him before my father who is in heaven. And whoever disowns me before men, before my father in heaven, I too will disown him. The offertory. This teaching shows clear as the dawn for all to see. I will reveal its brightness far away.
- 6:22The secret. Oh, God, who sufferest not the nations who believe in thee to be overwhelmed by any terror, vouch safe to receive the prayers and oblations of thy people that of thy mercy, thou would grant peace and make safe the borders of Christendom against every enemy Through our Lord Jesus Christ, thy son, who liveth and reigneth with thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God through all ages of ages. Amen. The common preface, just it is indeed and fitting, right in for our salvation, that we should at all times and in all places give thanks unto thee, oh, holy Lord, father almighty, everlasting God. Through whom the angels praise thy majesty, the dominions worship it, the power stand in awe, The heavens and the hosts of heaven together with the blessed Seraphim joyfully do magnify.
- 7:36We entreat thee that thou command it be permitted us to join with them in confessing thee while we say with lowly praise. Holy, holy, holy, Lord God of hosts, the heavens and the earth are full of thy glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest.
- 8:12The communion. See ye that I have not labored for myself only, but for all that seek out the truth. The post communion. Let us pray. O God, the author and lover of peace, whom to know is to live, whom to serve is to reign.
- 8:43Shield thy suppliant people from all assaults that we who put our trust in thy defense through the intercession of blessed Irenaeus, thy martyr and bishop, may not fear the power of any adversary through our Lord Jesus Christ, thy son, who liveth and reigneth with thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God, through all ages of ages. Amen. In the name of the father, and of the son, and of the Holy Ghost. Amen. Saint Irenaeus, pray for us.
