- 0:19Speaker 1: Janice Patelis, Seth Morris, Sean Weaver, Maggie hudd, Though Hayden Sammic,
- 0:23Speaker 1: and Corey Caulkins. If you're not familiar, this is a
- 0:26Speaker 1: ten round quiz show with questions from meat eaters for
- 0:28Speaker 1: verticals which are hunting, fishing, conservation and cooking, and there
- 0:32Speaker 1: is a prize. Meat Eater will donate five dollars to
- 0:35Speaker 1: the conservation organization of the winners choosing. Now, this is
- 0:39Speaker 1: episode three of our three part Meat Eater Trivia Championships.
- 0:42Speaker 1: So if you haven't listened to the last two shows,
- 0:45Speaker 1: then pause this one and go back and play those first.
- 0:48Speaker 1: Otherwise you're gonna be getting some spoilers here, all right,
- 0:51Speaker 1: now that everyone is caught up, you know, my my
- 0:53Speaker 1: pen so dead. The I was trying to darken something
- 0:58Speaker 1: and when I write my pen across it to darken it,
- 1:00Speaker 1: it actually erases. Yeah, like my pen isn't eracer faulty equipment.
- 1:06Speaker 1: We can we can probably get like a note pad
- 1:10Speaker 1: in like a pen in paper. You think that would help,
- 1:13Speaker 1: We can pause right now and go get it. Let's
- 1:16Speaker 1: I gotta say, Spencer, I feel like you miss an
- 1:18Speaker 1: opportunity with this tournament. You could have had people like
- 1:20Speaker 1: doing office pools and brackets and all sorts of cool stuff.
- 1:26Speaker 1: We're gonna do this sponsorship expo, dry race markers. Yeah,
- 1:31Speaker 1: we're gonna be flying people in from across the country.
- 1:34Speaker 1: We're gonna have four episodes. We're gonna have a whole brand.
- 1:36Speaker 1: Get the blue collar scholar in here. We gotta get
- 1:39Speaker 1: a line of odds going, and that's gonna be happening
- 1:47Speaker 1: now this did Cal not make it to the room
- 1:50Speaker 1: of the Champions of Champions. I couldn't get it on
- 1:53Speaker 1: his schedule to play one of the qualifying rounds. I
- 1:55Speaker 1: tried real hard, and we couldn't make it happen with
- 1:57Speaker 1: cal schedule. I don't think Cal wanted to try very
- 1:59Speaker 1: hard either. Like he's like a mediocre performer. I mean,
- 2:04Speaker 1: am I wrong? Based on theod That's right? All right?
- 2:13Speaker 1: Now that everyone's caught up, we're ready to crown a
- 2:16Speaker 1: meat eater trivia champion. Will it be Brody? The winning
- 2:19Speaker 1: is player and meat eater trivia history. Will it be Steve,
- 2:23Speaker 1: the man who's humunculous has never got a question wrong?
- 2:26Speaker 1: Or could it be Honest, the actual silent killer on
- 2:29Speaker 1: the show. Or could it be Maggie, a player with
- 2:32Speaker 1: the weight of an entire gender on her back don't
- 2:36Speaker 1: do that? Or will it be one of these other
- 2:39Speaker 1: mougs like Seth Sean Haydner, Corey a pack of lovable
- 2:43Speaker 1: underdogs with a combined two victories in meat Eaters. So
- 2:50Speaker 1: let's hear. Let's go on the room, good job and
- 2:52Speaker 1: get a condiction from each player about who's gonna win.
- 2:54Speaker 1: We'll start with Steve. Steve, are you betting on yourself?
- 2:57Speaker 1: I don't like to engage this kind of stuff. Man,
- 3:00Speaker 1: cal can play mediocre trivia, but Steve won't pick who's
- 3:03Speaker 1: gonna win this game. We'll skipping Maggie. Maggie, who do
- 3:06Speaker 1: you who you got your money on? I gotta put
- 3:08Speaker 1: my money on somebody on yourself? Man? All right, yeah,
- 3:12Speaker 1: I'll bet on myself. I could use a little extra
- 3:14Speaker 1: confidence going into this round. All right, Corey Culkin, is
- 3:16Speaker 1: he gonna give us an honest answer? I think conservation
- 3:19Speaker 1: is gonna win this one, Brodie. I have to imagine
- 3:25Speaker 1: you're picking Brodie? Right? Um? Do you do you think
- 3:29Speaker 1: there's any politicians out there that don't vote for themselves
- 3:32Speaker 1: when they're on the ballot. I'm just curious. I think
- 3:35Speaker 1: that ever happened. It's voting for yourself. Isn't saying that
- 3:38Speaker 1: you're gonna win? In fact? The demons, I'm not. I'm
- 3:44Speaker 1: not saying it either, but I'm voting for myself. All right,
- 3:47Speaker 1: there we go. Seth Um, Yeah, I'm gonna vote for
- 3:51Speaker 1: myself as well. You think you're okay? How about you?
- 3:57Speaker 1: We just got to the part and where the red
- 3:59Speaker 1: fern grows where Grandpa stream with the two boys, and
- 4:05Speaker 1: then the boy ends up with the axe and his
- 4:07Speaker 1: belly and Grandpa feels real bad about taking up that bet.
- 4:10Speaker 1: This is different than that. But that's a good book. Yes,
- 4:16Speaker 1: I did figure out how to stream it. Haven't watched
- 4:17Speaker 1: it yet. The girls and I are gonna finish and
- 4:20Speaker 1: then and then we're gonna stream it. What a great book?
- 4:23Speaker 1: Do you think? I think that The Two Little Hounds,
- 4:31Speaker 1: Old Man and a Little Land. Okay, you know, if
- 4:38Speaker 1: you're interesting what you saw about Clay did a whole
- 4:40Speaker 1: lot of you. Listen to Clay's I did this a
- 4:42Speaker 1: little series on the author and story. It's good, honestly said.
- 4:48Speaker 1: Still no answer on who's gonna win. No all, I'm
- 4:51Speaker 1: feeling pretty good. I got Whirdlin three this morning pretty
- 4:54Speaker 1: pretty quickly. So yeah, I'm feeling hot. TA today is
- 4:59Speaker 1: a answers, right, Hayden should actually be feeling hot coming
- 5:03Speaker 1: and he just had his first ever victory in last
- 5:05Speaker 1: week's episode. So, Hayden, who you picking? They say you
- 5:08Speaker 1: were a blind squirrel and you just found her nut?
- 5:11Speaker 1: Come on, would you be like, I find another one
- 5:14Speaker 1: right now? Again? It would you be like, I don't know, man,
- 5:17Speaker 1: it might be a while. You burned it out. And
- 5:22Speaker 1: in the very last episode of this you were just
- 5:24Speaker 1: saying that you didn't pick on people during trivia. Oh
- 5:26Speaker 1: I forgot. I think Brody is gonna win three votes.
- 5:33Speaker 1: The room is on Brody. I'm putting the pressure on him.
- 5:35Speaker 1: That's why I like playing a psychological game. Are you
- 5:39Speaker 1: guys nervous? I'm I think I'm nervous for you. I've
- 5:41Speaker 1: had jitters like all day figuring out who's gonna win.
- 5:43Speaker 1: I serious last night, I mean a little bit, I'm
- 5:45Speaker 1: I'm stoked. I'm stoked to the champion. She got a
- 5:49Speaker 1: three and a half half point Today's winner. She she's
- 5:54Speaker 1: very liberal, giving herself half points when she feels like
- 5:57Speaker 1: she earned it, and she I don't argue. So three
- 6:00Speaker 1: and alf on today's episode before we actually play the trivia.
- 6:05Speaker 1: You know how, like the last presidential debate, they asked
- 6:08Speaker 1: the candidates if they're going to accept the results of
- 6:12Speaker 1: the election. I feel like we need a couple of
- 6:14Speaker 1: our players to say, I'm gonna have the same answer
- 6:16Speaker 1: that President Trump had. I don't know, not the answer
- 6:22Speaker 1: I was looking for. I think we got it. I
- 6:23Speaker 1: don't know from Brody and Steve. I won't have a
- 6:27Speaker 1: problem with I mean, can we argue the results? Because
- 6:32Speaker 1: that happened A lot too happened. I'm gonna storm the
- 6:38Speaker 1: doors of my house if they don't win this. Stop
- 6:43Speaker 1: the steal. And we've got no housekeeping today. So let's
- 6:48Speaker 1: get to trivia. Play the drop, Phil, Look, I need
- 6:53Speaker 1: to know what I staying to win everything. I'm saying,
- 6:58Speaker 1: just tend to win everything, suckers. Question one. The topic
- 7:12Speaker 1: is cooking, and this is multiple choice. Which of these
- 7:16Speaker 1: table scraps would be toxic for your hunting dog? Is
- 7:20Speaker 1: it blueberries, avocado, shrimp, or green beans? Which of these
- 7:26Speaker 1: table scraps would be toxic for your hunting dog? Blueberries, avocado, shrimp,
- 7:33Speaker 1: or green beans. We have a confident Steve play confident, Seth, Brody, Corey. No,
- 7:41Speaker 1: we do have everybody owns a dog in here that's
- 7:43Speaker 1: playing so everything, man, my, my, my kids, got this
- 7:52Speaker 1: whole running list of everything there. It's gonna kill their dogs.
- 7:57Speaker 1: The dog eats something off the floor in their meeting. Start, Yes,
- 8:00Speaker 1: he gonna dog. Over in New Zealand, they feed him
- 8:03Speaker 1: whole bars of chocolate for their dogs. No issues at
- 8:08Speaker 1: all over here. Yeah, one bite kills the dog. So
- 8:11Speaker 1: here's your first argument coming up one more time. Which
- 8:14Speaker 1: of these table scraps would be toxic for your hunting dog? Blueberries, avocado, shrimp,
- 8:18Speaker 1: green beans? Go ahead and reveal your answers. We have
- 8:21Speaker 1: Steve saying blueberries, Maggie sang shrimp, Corey sang avocado, Brody
- 8:27Speaker 1: sang blueberries, Sets saying blueberries, Sean saying avocado, Jana saying shrimp,
- 8:32Speaker 1: and Hayden saying blueberries. The correct answer is avocado, really,
- 8:39Speaker 1: which puts our two front runners off to an all
- 8:41Speaker 1: one start. Now, blueberries, shrimping, green beans are all considered
- 8:45Speaker 1: healthy snacks for your dog. Avocados, on the other hand,
- 8:48Speaker 1: contain pierson, which, when ingested, causes vomiting and diarrhea for canines.
- 8:54Speaker 1: Other pets that are sensitive to avocados include birds, horses, rabbits,
- 8:58Speaker 1: and rodents. My dog stole half of a Chipotle burrito
- 9:02Speaker 1: the other day. I'd like to point out he's just fine.
- 9:04Speaker 1: I didn't have enough glock on that. I noticed what
- 9:07Speaker 1: he's saying. It's toxic, but it could be like extremely
- 9:11Speaker 1: mildly times, not one of his best questions. I picked
- 9:14Speaker 1: up the I picked up his his bowel movement the
- 9:18Speaker 1: next morning, and there was no indication of toxicity. There
- 9:21Speaker 1: is no question my avocado is bad for them. They
- 9:24Speaker 1: even haven't. Like the Animal Pet Poison Hotline wants you
- 9:28Speaker 1: to call them. If you see your dog eating any
- 9:31Speaker 1: part of an avocado, whether it's the pit, the skin, glock,
- 9:34Speaker 1: any of that stuff, it's unquestionably bad for them. There's
- 9:38Speaker 1: a joke where I'm not gonna tell it, ab I'll
- 9:40Speaker 1: tell you about it. Uh. These guys like walking down
- 9:45Speaker 1: the sidewalk and they and they're worried about this that
- 9:48Speaker 1: they there's a pile of dog shit, but they can't
- 9:50Speaker 1: figure of if it is or not. And so with
- 9:52Speaker 1: like smelling it, touching it, tasting it, and eventually one
- 9:56Speaker 1: of them goes, damn, that is dog shit. He's like,
- 9:59Speaker 1: glad we did stuff. But what part of the joke
- 10:04Speaker 1: is missing if you were going to tell the joke.
- 10:07Speaker 1: I've found a way to tell questionable jokes by saying
- 10:10Speaker 1: I'm gonna tell you about the joke. I'm not telling
- 10:13Speaker 1: you the joke. I'm letting you know that there is
- 10:15Speaker 1: a joke in existence that goes like this, and then
- 10:18Speaker 1: you can do it. And it weren't. It wasn't that
- 10:20Speaker 1: you were telling the jokes. You were telling about the jokes.
- 10:22Speaker 1: That's a good end around you tell jokes you'd never tell. Yeah,
- 10:26Speaker 1: there's this bad word. You can't say that joke. Question
- 10:32Speaker 1: to the topic is gear. There are four cities where
- 10:37Speaker 1: the last ten Archery Trade Association shows have been held.
- 10:41Speaker 1: Name one of those cities. There are four cities where
- 10:47Speaker 1: the last ten Archery Trade Association shows have been held.
- 10:52Speaker 1: Name one of those cities. Seems like nobody knew this,
- 10:59Speaker 1: but a few folks. Uh looks somewhat confident. Yeah, I
- 11:03Speaker 1: mean I think answer again. Threw my pen down. I'm
- 11:08Speaker 1: mostly referring why didn't you notice? And let me try
- 11:13Speaker 1: that again? Oh it okay? Jannese knows the answer one
- 11:18Speaker 1: more time. Looking for one of the four cities where
- 11:20Speaker 1: the last ten ar Tree Trade Association shows have been held.
- 11:23Speaker 1: Does everybody have an answer? Go ahead and reveal your answers.
- 11:27Speaker 1: We have Steve saying Salt Lake City, Maggie saying Denver,
- 11:30Speaker 1: Corey saying Dallas, Brodie saying Indianapolis, seth Indianapolis, Sean saying Louisville,
- 11:37Speaker 1: Janice saying Indianapolis, and Hayden sang Vegas. The four cities
- 11:42Speaker 1: are Louisville, Indianapolis, Nashville, and Columbus. The last ten a
- 11:49Speaker 1: TA shows have been held in Indianapolis and Louisville four times,
- 11:53Speaker 1: and Nashville and Columbus once. The next a t A
- 11:56Speaker 1: show will be held in Indianapolis on January eleven three.
- 12:00Speaker 1: It's the biggest archery industry gathering in the world. Be honest,
- 12:05Speaker 1: did you get that one right? Did you? I was
- 12:11Speaker 1: born in Indianapolis, Indiana. Spencer okay, question three. The topic
- 12:19Speaker 1: is fishing. It's next great question comes to is via
- 12:22Speaker 1: logan lubbers. If you have a question you think is
- 12:24Speaker 1: right for Meat Eater Trivia, send it to trivia at
- 12:26Speaker 1: the meat eater dot com. What to fish are crossed
- 12:30Speaker 1: to create a tiger trout? What to fish are crossed
- 12:37Speaker 1: to create a tiger trout? You do not need to
- 12:39Speaker 1: give the sexes of the fish, just the species. Is
- 12:45Speaker 1: it extra well some some animals, it is um that
- 12:50Speaker 1: it matters who the mother of the father is. For
- 12:52Speaker 1: the purpose of this question, I'm not looking for the
- 12:55Speaker 1: sex of the parents, just looking for what two species
- 12:58Speaker 1: create a tiger trout? Does everybody have an answer? Go
- 13:03Speaker 1: ahead and reveal your answers. We have Steve saying a
- 13:08Speaker 1: cutty and a bow. Maggie sang a brook and a rainbow,
- 13:13Speaker 1: Cordy sang a brown in a brook. Brody sang a
- 13:16Speaker 1: brook and a brown, Seth saying a golden and brooke,
- 13:19Speaker 1: Shawn saying a brook and lake, Janice saying a brook
- 13:23Speaker 1: and brown, and Hayden saying a brook and brown. The
- 13:27Speaker 1: correct answers are a brown trout and brook trout. I'm
- 13:31Speaker 1: out of the game for three let's just stop playing.
- 13:43Speaker 1: It's like it's like only four pm on election day,
- 13:46Speaker 1: so there's a lot of results to come in. Yet
- 13:49Speaker 1: tie your child are tie your trout are incredibly rare
- 13:56Speaker 1: in the wild since their parents aren't very closely related
- 13:59Speaker 1: in their native ranges don't overlap. But they've become a
- 14:02Speaker 1: popular game fish in North America because they're hardy, sterile,
- 14:06Speaker 1: and novel. States with tiger trout stocking programs include Arizona, Colorado, Connecticut, Georgia, Idaho, Utah, Massachusetts,
- 14:14Speaker 1: and more. Do you know there's a there's a global
- 14:19Speaker 1: Marlin tournament and it's like there's a specific day and
- 14:24Speaker 1: you go by your time zone. Did not know this,
- 14:28Speaker 1: So I was just talking to a guy down in
- 14:30Speaker 1: Venice whose body just one. So you got the main tournament,
- 14:34Speaker 1: but then you got what they call the like the
- 14:36Speaker 1: cal cut, but they called the extras or something like that.
- 14:39Speaker 1: The real money is in the side bed. Huh okay,
- 14:43Speaker 1: he just wont He won a million bucks in the
- 14:45Speaker 1: side bed in Venice, Louisiana with like a five pound marlin.
- 14:50Speaker 1: Some guy in South Africa turns in a plus thousand,
- 14:53Speaker 1: but he wasn't in the side bed. So it gets
- 14:56Speaker 1: to his reporting time zone in Venice and he's in
- 15:01Speaker 1: the win. But this guy was drinking with his body
- 15:05Speaker 1: while waiting for Hawaii's results to come in and won,
- 15:11Speaker 1: and he won, but he said he was shipping bricks
- 15:15Speaker 1: waiting to see what gets caught in Hawaii and now
- 15:18Speaker 1: is the last reporting time zone. What's your buddy doing
- 15:21Speaker 1: with this million dollars? Well, I didn't meet him and
- 15:23Speaker 1: met his buddy paying for gas on the Boat's question
- 15:30Speaker 1: for the topic is conservation. The National Wildlife Federation has
- 15:36Speaker 1: been publishing this award winning children's magazine since nineteen sixty seven.
- 15:41Speaker 1: What is it? The National Wildlife Federation has been publishing
- 15:48Speaker 1: this award winning children's magazine since nineteen sixty seven. What
- 15:53Speaker 1: is it? Do you ever read this magazine? Ready, just
- 15:57Speaker 1: let's just look, let's just well, may I have the
- 16:01Speaker 1: un This is not this is a non fun episode. Serious,
- 16:05Speaker 1: Maybe I have I don't know, Okay. National Wildlife Federation
- 16:09Speaker 1: has been publishing this award winning children's magazine since nineteen
- 16:12Speaker 1: sixty seven. Does everybody have an answer? My answer is
- 16:15Speaker 1: so stupid? No answer? Honest, you have an answer? Go
- 16:19Speaker 1: ahead and reveal your answers. We have Steve saying Ranger Rick,
- 16:22Speaker 1: Ranger Rick, Ranger Rick, Brody saying animal Kids, Sean without
- 16:28Speaker 1: an answer saying Ranger Rick, and Hayden saying that Geo Kids.
- 16:33Speaker 1: The correct answer is Ranger Rick. Back in the game.
- 16:36Speaker 1: I've read that. I have read that one Ranger Rick's
- 16:41Speaker 1: mission is to instill a passion for nature and promote
- 16:44Speaker 1: outdoor activity. They do so through animal quizzes, outdoor recipes,
- 16:48Speaker 1: fictional stories, nature based riddles, color photography, and more. The
- 16:53Speaker 1: magazine is so popular that back in the early seventies
- 16:56Speaker 1: it caused the National Wildlife Federation's membership to ripple. Inside
- 17:01Speaker 1: we read it as kids. I didn't know that was
- 17:03Speaker 1: still around until not too long ago. Oh yeah, you
- 17:05Speaker 1: get it? How many points you got, Megan? Did I
- 17:08Speaker 1: get the answer? We're onto question five. We'll get a
- 17:13Speaker 1: scoreboard update after this, except we already have the room
- 17:16Speaker 1: feeling each other out, seeing uh where everyone stands? The
- 17:19Speaker 1: topic is biology. This is our listener question of the Week,
- 17:23Speaker 1: which was won by Lane Rogers for sending this great question.
- 17:27Speaker 1: Lane is going to get a signed copy of The
- 17:29Speaker 1: Complete Guide to Hunting, Butchering and Cooking Wild Game, Volume two.
- 17:33Speaker 1: If you want a chance to win our listener question
- 17:35Speaker 1: in the week, then send your question into trivia at
- 17:37Speaker 1: the meat deeter dot com. Steve looks stressed out. That's
- 17:40Speaker 1: what always doing questions. I rest my head on my microphone.
- 17:46Speaker 1: This vodka my eye socket. Specifically, he's not stressed. This
- 17:52Speaker 1: vodka based drink shares its name with species whose distribution
- 17:56Speaker 1: range extends across the world. Let's say go, this vodka
- 18:01Speaker 1: based drink shares its name with species whose distribution range
- 18:06Speaker 1: extends across the world. What was the category biology? We
- 18:12Speaker 1: did have a quick answer from Corey and Maggie. It
- 18:15Speaker 1: looked like you lush Corey, This vodka based drink shares
- 18:23Speaker 1: its name with species whose distribution range extends across the world. Now, Corey,
- 18:30Speaker 1: where where is your confidence at here? One hundred? Like
- 18:33Speaker 1: no question? You got this right? I'd say I'm fifty,
- 18:37Speaker 1: but that seems to be much higher than anyone else
- 18:40Speaker 1: in the room. I'm gonna argue with technicality with this one.
- 18:44Speaker 1: Go ahead and try. Can we get like a couple
- 18:49Speaker 1: of minutes on this one? Give you a little more time.
- 18:51Speaker 1: There's a lot on the line, but I don't know
- 18:54Speaker 1: if those wheels are turning, Yanni, No, they're turning. I've
- 18:57Speaker 1: had a lot of cocktails in Did anybody besides Corey
- 19:04Speaker 1: feel good about their answer? I feel like I gott.
- 19:09Speaker 1: You don't even have an answer, right? Oh you do? Okay?
- 19:12Speaker 1: Does everybody have an answer? Then this vodka bas drink
- 19:15Speaker 1: shares it. Same with species whose distribution range extends across
- 19:19Speaker 1: the world, vodka soda screw driver. Does everybody have an answer? Yellen? No, like, dude,
- 19:36Speaker 1: I mean I have I have like a like not
- 19:38Speaker 1: feeling great. Okay, go ahead and reveal your answers. We
- 19:41Speaker 1: have Steve saying cosmo, Maggie saying mule, Corey saying moscow mule.
- 19:48Speaker 1: Without an answer, moscow mule, shout without an answer, Jana
- 19:53Speaker 1: saying salty dog, Hayden saying moscow mule. We do have
- 19:56Speaker 1: a correct answer in the room. It's cosmo cosmopolitan. Some
- 20:02Speaker 1: examples of cosmopolitan species include humans, killer whales, cats or kids,
- 20:07Speaker 1: honey bees, and most diseases. Generally, cosmopolitanism does not include
- 20:12Speaker 1: areas of extreme weather, like the Arctic or Antarctic. I'm
- 20:16Speaker 1: gonna accept that question. You guys all tripped up. You
- 20:19Speaker 1: thought he said a species, But there's not mules in Antarctica.
- 20:25Speaker 1: That's what my problem with this vodka based drink shares
- 20:31Speaker 1: its name with species whose distribution range extends across the world.
- 20:35Speaker 1: I just didn't listen carefully enough. That happens to me
- 20:37Speaker 1: all time. Well, Steve, Steve just tripped into the right
- 20:41Speaker 1: answer and no, No, I said, what did I say?
- 20:45Speaker 1: We have to you have to dig back and play
- 20:46Speaker 1: it back. You said you didn't feel good about it. No,
- 20:49Speaker 1: I went on from there. I don't know. Does everybody
- 20:53Speaker 1: have an answer, Yellen? No, like, dude, I mean I
- 20:57Speaker 1: have I have like a like not feeling great. Okay,
- 21:01Speaker 1: go ahead and reveal your answers. We have Steve saying Cosmo,

- 21:10Speaker 1: very true. No, don't No, I got it. It It was great.
- 21:14Speaker 1: This was a great question. Was the board game? Oh,
- 21:17Speaker 1: it's it's gonna be there. It's gonna be the first
- 21:19Speaker 1: card you see. Phil, give us a scoreboard update. We
- 21:23Speaker 1: have seth, Maggie and Hayden with one point a piece
- 21:27Speaker 1: Terrible with two points. We have Steve, Sean and Brody,
- 21:32Speaker 1: and tied for first place are Corey Caulkins, Culkins. I'm
- 21:36Speaker 1: not gonna screw that up. Andy, honestly tell us with
- 21:39Speaker 1: three points how many questions we got left? Five questions?
- 21:46Speaker 1: Meat Eater Trivia Champion on the line. Question six. The
- 21:58Speaker 1: topic is cooking. This Japanese cooking method involves deep frying
- 22:03Speaker 1: seafood that's been battered in ice water, eggs, and flour.
- 22:07Speaker 1: What is it? This Japanese cooking method involves deep frying
- 22:13Speaker 1: seafood that's been battered in ice water, eggs, and flour.

- 22:56Speaker 1: saying tempoura, tempoura, tempourah, and the rest of the room
- 23:02Speaker 1: says tempura. They got am I wrong. The correct answer
- 23:06Speaker 1: is tempouraa. This cooking style was popularized by Portuguese traders
- 23:13Speaker 1: in Japan who prepared their shrimp by lightly frying them.
- 23:16Speaker 1: It was originally viewed as a luxury dish because most
- 23:19Speaker 1: people from Japan use their oil for heat rather than cooking,
- 23:23Speaker 1: but the cooking style caught on across the country in
- 23:26Speaker 1: the seventeenth century when rape seed oils became mass produced.
- 23:30Speaker 1: That's good. I didn't know you used egan tempora. You do?
- 23:36Speaker 1: You know what man we used to make. We used
- 23:38Speaker 1: to bone out cottontail rabbits and do rabbit tempera what what?
- 23:43Speaker 1: What made it tempura to you? They like you do
- 23:45Speaker 1: everything the same as if you're doing shrimp. Just do
- 23:49Speaker 1: a little pounded strips. Question seven. The topic is fishing.
- 23:53Speaker 1: This next great question comes to his via Jeff Oglesby.
- 23:56Speaker 1: If you have a question you think is right for
- 23:58Speaker 1: meat to Trivia, you can send it to trivia at
- 24:00Speaker 1: the meat eater dot com. Name the state with either
- 24:04Speaker 1: the heaviest or lightest large mouth bass state record. Name
- 24:11Speaker 1: the state with either the heaviest or the lightest large
- 24:15Speaker 1: mouth bass state record. There's such a thing as the
- 24:20Speaker 1: lightest bass record. It's that state record is the lightest
- 24:26Speaker 1: of all fifty states. You understand what that which state.
- 24:35Speaker 1: Do we need to signify? Yes, look at you need
- 24:39Speaker 1: to name what state it is. Now, if we just
- 24:47Speaker 1: put down a single state, as you'd have to say,
- 24:50Speaker 1: if it's the heaviest, lightest one, it could be. So
- 24:53Speaker 1: really we have a one. It's a good way to
- 24:56Speaker 1: look at it. Yanni, does everybody have an answer looking
- 24:59Speaker 1: for the heaviest or the lightest large mouth bass state record?
- 25:06Speaker 1: Mm hmm, you're honestly going for heaviest or lightest heavy heavy?
- 25:11Speaker 1: Does everybody have an answer? Corey is is rethinking his
- 25:16Speaker 1: write something. Go ahead and reveal your answers. We have
- 25:18Speaker 1: Steve saying like some dude in California, California, Maggie saying Texas,
- 25:24Speaker 1: Corey saying Florida, Brody saying California, Seth saying Texas, Sean
- 25:28Speaker 1: San California, Jana saying Texas, Hayden saying Florida. Everybody went heavy.
- 25:34Speaker 1: Nobody got it right. The heaviest is Georgia and the
- 25:37Speaker 1: lightest is Alaska. I was, but Alaska has large. The
- 25:42Speaker 1: heaviest large mouth bass record in America belongs to Georgia.
- 25:45Speaker 1: It was set with a twenty two pounder in nineteen
- 25:48Speaker 1: thirty two. The lightest large mouth bass record goes to Alaska,
- 25:52Speaker 1: which was set in within eight ounce fish. Some believe
- 25:56Speaker 1: that seven inch bass from Anchorages Sand Lake was the
- 25:59Speaker 1: first ever large mouth caught in Alaska. Is that one
- 26:02Speaker 1: from Georgia also the world record? Yeah, there's there's some
- 26:06Speaker 1: contention around it, but it's still their official state record,
- 26:09Speaker 1: the Perry Bass Bass, Great photo pound large wave. We're
- 26:17Speaker 1: onto question eight. The topic is conservation. Will get a
- 26:21Speaker 1: leaderboard update from Phil after this. What type of federal
- 26:26Speaker 1: land uses the slogan land of many uses on its signs?
- 26:33Speaker 1: What type of federal land uses the slogan land of
- 26:37Speaker 1: many uses on its signs? It's very confident answers in
- 26:43Speaker 1: the room. Folks think they know it. This is question eight.
- 26:48Speaker 1: What type of federal land uses the slogan land of
- 26:51Speaker 1: many uses on its signs? Does everybody have an answer? Shirt?
- 26:59Speaker 1: Go and reveal your answers. We have Steve saying National Forest,
- 27:02Speaker 1: Maggie saying BLM, Cory saying BLM, Brody saying National Forest,
- 27:06Speaker 1: Seth saying National Forests, Shawn saying b LM, Janna saying
- 27:10Speaker 1: b LM, and Hayden saying Corps of engineers. The correct
- 27:13Speaker 1: answer is National Forest, so we had some folks get
- 27:19Speaker 1: it right. This phrase was coined by Richard McCardell, the
- 27:23Speaker 1: chief of the United States Forest Service from nineteen fifty
- 27:26Speaker 1: two to nineteen sixty two. This was his quote, the
- 27:29Speaker 1: National Forests our land of many uses and many users.
- 27:34Speaker 1: He was referring to their management style that allows for
- 27:36Speaker 1: activities like timber harvest, grazing, mining, and recreating. Phil give
- 27:40Speaker 1: us a scoreboard update. We have two questions left. It
- 27:45Speaker 1: wouldn't be the Trivia Championship if all players were not
- 27:48Speaker 1: still in contention. We have Seth, Maggie and Hayden with
- 27:52Speaker 1: two points, Shaun with three, and Steve, Joannis, Korey and
- 27:56Speaker 1: Brodie are tied up with four points apiece. So who's
- 27:59Speaker 1: for more time? Who is at the top of the leaderboard?
- 28:01Speaker 1: Here that Brody, Corey, Joannis and Steve have four, Sean
- 28:05Speaker 1: has three and everybody else has two. It's great. Two
- 28:09Speaker 1: questions left. Question ninety topic is hunting. What Canadian province
- 28:16Speaker 1: has the most white tailed deer entered in the Boone
- 28:19Speaker 1: and Crockett record Book. What Canadian province has the most
- 28:25Speaker 1: white tailed deer entered in the Boone and Crockett record Book.
- 28:31Speaker 1: I like that we have Steve and Brody an the
- 28:34Speaker 1: honest at the top of the leader board. But I
- 28:36Speaker 1: also like we have the the underdog here and Corey,
- 28:38Speaker 1: who has never won a game of Meat Eater Trivia
- 28:42Speaker 1: man play a whole terrible amount. Does he doesn't? But
- 28:48Speaker 1: this this could be a real Cinderella story if he
- 28:51Speaker 1: is our this one's killing me. I got narrowed down. Well, yeah, province,
- 29:00Speaker 1: tell you a couple of what Canadian province has the
- 29:04Speaker 1: most white tailed deer entered in the Boone and Crockett
- 29:07Speaker 1: record Book. Does everybody have an answer? Yeah, but it's
- 29:10Speaker 1: not spelled right, Okay, go ahead and reveal your answers.
- 29:13Speaker 1: We have Steve saying Alberta, Maggie saying Saskatchewan, Corey sang Saskatchewan,
- 29:19Speaker 1: Brodie sang Saskatchewan, Seth saying Alberta. His markers, so it
- 29:24Speaker 1: could be anything, Sean saying Saskatchewan, Jana saying Saskatchewan. The
- 29:33Speaker 1: correct answer is Saskatchewan. Alberta. Saskatchewan has six hundred four
- 29:41Speaker 1: white tail entries in the Boone and Crockett record Book.
- 29:43Speaker 1: That's followed by Alberta with three hundred seventy seven, Manitoba
- 29:47Speaker 1: with one hundred, Ontario with seventy two, British Columbia with fifty,
- 29:51Speaker 1: Quebec with thirty three, New Brunswick with twenty seven, in
- 29:54Speaker 1: Nova Scotia with eighteen. Saskatchewan has twice as many as
- 29:58Speaker 1: albert Muncula thought Saskatchewan thought that one. Mine thought, uh
- 30:03Speaker 1: Alberta did. Really I didn't listen to him. We have
- 30:08Speaker 1: question left to crown our champion. Where does the leaderboard
- 30:12Speaker 1: now stand? I just faltered. Yes. Unfortunately we have to
- 30:16Speaker 1: say goodbye to Seth, Maggie and Hayden. They are not
- 30:20Speaker 1: eligible for the win. But Stephen Ronnella Sean Weaver have
- 30:25Speaker 1: four points apiece, Janice Korean Brody have five points. Wow,
- 30:30Speaker 1: this could settle the whole thing. If not, we'll go
- 30:33Speaker 1: to over time. I want to go back to that
- 30:35Speaker 1: species question question ten. The topic is wildlife. This last
- 30:39Speaker 1: great question comes to us be a Sam Young. If
- 30:42Speaker 1: you have a question you think is right from Meat
- 30:43Speaker 1: Eater Trivia, you can send it to trivia at the
- 30:45Speaker 1: meat eater dot com. This songbird is the most common
- 30:50Speaker 1: state bird in America. What is it? This songbird is
- 30:57Speaker 1: the most common state bird in America? What is it?
- 31:05Speaker 1: A lot on the line, Corey, how you feel about
- 31:09Speaker 1: your answer? Not good? Not good? Brodie? Mm hmmm if
- 31:15Speaker 1: I can tell you? Can I put two down? I know,
- 31:21Speaker 1: I know, I just don't know which of them is right.
- 31:23Speaker 1: Brody's confidence is be honest. How you feeling? Oh a
- 31:28Speaker 1: little bay, dude, I'm I'm changing my ship. I'm leaving
- 31:33Speaker 1: what I am. Okay, I'm leaving what I have. Steve
- 31:35Speaker 1: is narrated down to two choices, and he's now changing.
- 31:39Speaker 1: I can't tell if I'm listening to me or getting
- 31:43Speaker 1: getting foggy up there? Does everybody have an answer for
- 31:47Speaker 1: all the marbles? Reveal your answers? We have Steve saying
- 31:51Speaker 1: the Western Meadow large did have. He also had the
- 31:54Speaker 1: American Robin, but cross it out. Maggie Huddler saying a
- 31:58Speaker 1: metal lark, Cordy saying blackbird, Brody saying Cardinal, Seth saying Chicken,
- 32:03Speaker 1: Sean saying Cardinal, Joanna saying Robin, and Hayden saying finch.
- 32:07Speaker 1: Now we do have a correct answer in the room.
- 32:10Speaker 1: Is there gonna crown a champions? But I want to
- 32:12Speaker 1: know the correct answer is Cardinal? Which makes Brody our winner.
- 32:25Speaker 1: Oh god, I figured it's a pretty bird, just like
- 32:30Speaker 1: a strong sports equivalent, just a strong player. Brody even
- 32:38Speaker 1: gave the room a little head start. I think you
- 32:39Speaker 1: went over to on the first couple of something like that. Man,
- 32:43Speaker 1: you never know looking at him, what's up Brody? Walking
- 32:47Speaker 1: down the road? You would be like, there's a trivia champ.
- 32:50Speaker 1: What would you think you're good at? Like this looks
- 32:52Speaker 1: like a man of what sort of hobby? This guy
- 32:55Speaker 1: going out and get a beard his friend? I don't
- 32:57Speaker 1: know mind due to instead though the winning is player
- 33:03Speaker 1: in our regular season history is now the two champions.
- 33:07Speaker 1: It makes sense, dude, it really is a meritocracy. Man.
- 33:10Speaker 1: He plays a strong game. He's oldest, like you keep
- 33:15Speaker 1: leaning on that one. The seven states considered the Northern
- 33:18Speaker 1: Cardinal or state bird. Those states are Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky,
- 33:22Speaker 1: North Carolina, Ohio, Virginia, and West Virginia. That's followed by
- 33:25Speaker 1: the Western meadow Lark with six states. A little problem.
- 33:31Speaker 1: Cardinal Cardinal is good enough. It does not need to be.
- 33:35Speaker 1: It does not need to be the Northern cars. You
- 33:37Speaker 1: know that I wrote Western meadow Lark the wrong wrong,
- 33:44Speaker 1: But you gotta appreciate the specificity. The Northern bocking bird
- 33:51Speaker 1: is five states, and the American robin is three states.
- 33:53Speaker 1: In the American goldfinch is three states. Brody, how does
- 33:58Speaker 1: it feel? It feels pretty good? I can't. I gotta
- 34:01Speaker 1: admitt it. It feels it feels damn good. But champion, yep.
- 34:09Speaker 1: I'd like to dedicate this championship to my revered Uhent
- 34:14Speaker 1: Stephen inspired me to just be a greater person and
- 34:19Speaker 1: competitor myself. So that's so he saw what victory looked
- 34:24Speaker 1: like and he thought, I want some of that. Are
- 34:26Speaker 1: you gonna let Steve? That's what I'm getting? I would
- 34:29Speaker 1: I would like Steve to pict the conservation group that
- 34:33Speaker 1: gets If that's the case, let's go with the let's
- 34:39Speaker 1: go with the meat Eater land Access Initiative. L A
- 34:42Speaker 1: I I prove I like that. Oh we got a deal.
- 34:48Speaker 1: Little something we've been cooking up is we're thinking about
- 34:51Speaker 1: going on like a like a beaver trap in Marathon
- 34:54Speaker 1: in the spring and and selling custom beaver hats for
- 35:00Speaker 1: a huge amount of money, a peace to raise money
- 35:03Speaker 1: for the land access an issue? Are you working that's
- 35:05Speaker 1: going to have? But we're thinking about like trying to
- 35:09Speaker 1: like selling that you'd buy a custom be we'd catch
- 35:13Speaker 1: the beaver document, the whole thing, get it sewed, and
- 35:16Speaker 1: you get a custom beaver have for five hundred bucks
- 35:19Speaker 1: and all that money goes to land Ax initiative. I
- 35:21Speaker 1: like it, and we just pour the I keep thinking.
- 35:25Speaker 1: I was tell him the guy that solds the hats.
- 35:27Speaker 1: He thought it sounded insane, but I said, you wait
- 35:30Speaker 1: and see. What what would it cost you to go
- 35:33Speaker 1: buy a beaver hat like a nice I don't know,
- 35:37Speaker 1: a couple hundred bucks. Now, Brody, we have a plaque
- 35:39Speaker 1: that's being made right now that's gonna have your name
- 35:42Speaker 1: on it as the champion. We should have it by
- 35:45Speaker 1: time this episode comes out very fitting that you would
- 35:48Speaker 1: be the winner at the end. So it's the kind
- 35:50Speaker 1: of keeps not that kind of gota turned back later. Well,
- 35:52Speaker 1: we're gonna we're gonna be hanging on the wall, and
- 35:54Speaker 1: the plan is right now that will have like room
- 35:56Speaker 1: for five years on there, so we'll have the only
- 35:59Speaker 1: demand I have as a two champion is that you
- 36:02Speaker 1: get some better markers, better markets marks. We can we
- 36:07Speaker 1: can do that. Join us next time for more media trivia.
- 36:10Speaker 1: The only game show where conservation always wins.
