- 0:00Speaker 1: Toby and Chili mornings on demand on 97.1 Wash FM.
- 0:05Speaker 2: 97.1 Wash FM. Time to wake up DC. We're Toby
- 0:09Speaker 2: and Chili in the morning. Chili, why are you feeling
- 0:11Speaker 2: great this morning?
- 0:12Speaker 3: Well, the bad news is our garage door is open.
- 0:14Speaker 4: Long story. One of the cars is trapped in there.
- 0:17Speaker 4: Good news is my dad only lives a mile away.
- 0:20Speaker 4: So he is able to lend his car to my
- 0:23Speaker 4: husband so he can get our son to school. Because
- 0:25Speaker 4: he had to Uber from our son the other day.
- 0:28Speaker 5: Wait a second.
- 0:28Speaker 2: So the garage door is broken and your husband's car
- 0:32Speaker 2: is locked in the garage?
- 0:33Speaker 3: Correct.
- 0:34Speaker 4: But they're coming this afternoon to figure it out. I'm
- 0:36Speaker 4: sure there's some sort of contraption that we still, anyway.
- 0:38Speaker 5: Yeah, no, I know. It's very technical. Too much to
- 0:41Speaker 5: understand this morning.
- 0:42Speaker 3: It's too much to understand.
- 0:44Speaker 5: We're simple-minded people.
- 0:45Speaker 3: We've been dealing with it for a couple of days.
- 0:47Speaker 5: Where are you parking?
- 0:48Speaker 4: Well, I was already not in the garage. I had
- 0:51Speaker 4: already escaped before the issue happened.
- 0:54Speaker 5: Okay, that's right. So, okay, got it.
- 0:55Speaker 3: I had already gotten out of the garage.
- 0:57Speaker 5: Translation, it broke while she was at work.
- 0:59Speaker 3: That's correct.
- 1:00Speaker 5: There you go.
- 1:00Speaker 3: That's correct.
- 1:01Speaker 2: Well, it's good to have family nearby for that specific reason.
- 1:04Speaker 2: I envy that and so many different people here in
- 1:07Speaker 2: the DMV sometimes. I'm feeling great this morning because I
- 1:09Speaker 2: randomly sent an email to the outgoing CEO of Apple.
- 1:12Speaker 2: His name's Tim Cook, the other day. And because his
- 1:16Speaker 2: last day was, I guess... two days ago. And I,
- 1:21Speaker 2: this morning got an email back from him. I couldn't
- 1:24Speaker 2: believe it. I just thanked him for everything he'd done
- 1:27Speaker 2: as CEO. Cause I'm a big Apple fan and he
- 1:29Speaker 2: shoots it back. It wasn't, it's not like he said much.
- 1:31Speaker 2: He's just like, thanks Toby war Eagle, which is a
- 1:34Speaker 2: reference to where he went to college.
- 1:36Speaker 5: And then he said, best Tim. And I'm like, all right, man.
- 1:39Speaker 2: You know, I just thought it was cool because I
- 1:41Speaker 2: didn't expect that. And even if it was an assistant
- 1:44Speaker 2: who might have written it.
- 1:45Speaker 3: It doesn't matter. Somebody from the top office got back
- 1:48Speaker 3: to you.
- 1:48Speaker 5: Yeah, that's right.
- 1:50Speaker 3: That's a big deal.
- 1:51Speaker 5: That's right.
- 1:51Speaker 2: Now he's the executive chairman. So, you know, hey, I
- 1:54Speaker 2: guess that's what they do with people when they're going
- 1:56Speaker 2: to retire. They promote them to the executive chairmanship. But anyway,
- 2:01Speaker 2: it just was like random and it literally just showed up.
- 2:04Speaker 2: Toby and Chili in the morning at 97.1 Wash FM
- 2:07Speaker 2: as you drive down 270 or 66. Why are you
- 2:10Speaker 2: feeling good this morning on 95 North Mound? Feel free
- 2:13Speaker 2: to call us at 866-927-4361.
- 2:16Speaker 5: Let us know. Meanwhile, top stories at the top of
- 2:18Speaker 5: the hour on the way. What's going on?
- 2:20Speaker 4: The University of Maryland could be headed for a legal
- 2:23Speaker 4: fight over the name Terps.
- 2:25Speaker 3: And you'll find out why in just a few.
- 2:31Speaker 6: Top stories, top of the hour.
- 2:33Speaker 4: The president has signed a stopgap funding bill keeping the
- 2:36Speaker 4: government open through December 11th. The measure passed the Senate
- 2:40Speaker 4: and House with strong bipartisan support, setting up another year-end
- 2:44Speaker 4: funding fight. At least two people have died after a
- 2:46Speaker 4: shooting at a downtown Minneapolis apartment high-rise. Police say the
- 2:50Speaker 4: suspected shooter has also died. Six others were injured, including
- 2:54Speaker 4: three officers, two of whom were shot. Maryland officials failed
- 2:58Speaker 4: to collect more than $ 818 million in tolls and penalties.
- 3:04Speaker 4: A state audit raises concerns about how the Maryland Transportation
- 3:07Speaker 4: Authority manages the money that it's owed. Nearly 94,000 Virginians
- 3:12Speaker 4: have dropped their Affordable Care Act health insurance over the
- 3:15Speaker 4: past year. The decline comes as rising costs and changes
- 3:19Speaker 4: to federal subsidies increase. make coverage more expensive for so many.
- 3:24Speaker 4: The Kennedy Center removed its towering blue sculpture yesterday, closing
- 3:28Speaker 4: northbound Rock Creek Parkway for the crane work. Now, no
- 3:31Speaker 4: official reason was given, but it comes amid the administration's
- 3:35Speaker 4: broader reshaping of the venue, sparking pushback from arts advocates.
- 3:40Speaker 4: The University of Maryland could be headed for a legal
- 3:42Speaker 4: fight over the name Terps. A cannabis company is using
- 3:46Speaker 4: the name for one of its products, and UMD says
- 3:49Speaker 4: it could violate the university's trademark rights. And finally, Tiger
- 3:53Speaker 4: Woods pleaded guilty yesterday to a reduced reckless driving charge.
- 3:57Speaker 3: This all stems from his March rollover crash.
- 4:00Speaker 4: As part of a plea deal, the judge suspended Tiger's
- 4:03Speaker 4: license for five years. Forecast today, partly cloudy with a
- 4:07Speaker 4: chance of more storms. Highs around 95. The heat index
- 4:09Speaker 4: near 105. Right now, 75 in Rockville.
- 4:14Speaker 2: Now you're informed as you get your day started. Thanks
- 4:16Speaker 2: to Toby and Chili's top stories at the top of
- 4:18Speaker 2: the hour, the news. 97.1 Wash FM. Next, how are
- 4:23Speaker 2: you doing? Well, let's pause to talk about you. Your
- 4:26Speaker 2: morning mindset comes from someone that really lived a full.
- 4:31Speaker 5: American life today.
- 4:34Speaker 2: And what they have to say might just help you
- 4:36Speaker 2: get through what you're going through. Time now for your
- 4:40Speaker 2: morning mindset at 97.1 Wash FM with Toby and Chili
- 4:43Speaker 2: in the morning. In case you're just joining us for
- 4:45Speaker 2: the first time, what is your morning mindset?
- 4:49Speaker 4: It's when we find a quote that has spoken to
- 4:51Speaker 4: us and we share it with you in hopes that
- 4:54Speaker 4: it perhaps motivates or inspires you to have a better day.
- 4:57Speaker 2: This morning comes from George Burns, great comedian. He says,
- 5:03Speaker 2: I'd rather be a failure at something I love than
- 5:06Speaker 2: a success at something I hate.
- 5:11Speaker 5: Think about that.
- 5:12Speaker 2: I'd rather be a failure at something I love than
- 5:14Speaker 2: a success at something I hate. You've got to love
- 5:18Speaker 2: that because the truth of the matter is, and you
- 5:20Speaker 2: can insert a cliche about your job or life or
- 5:23Speaker 2: whatever you do for, you know, your life's work here.
- 5:28Speaker 2: There's a million different sayings about if you love what
- 5:31Speaker 2: you do, you never work a day in your life.
- 5:32Speaker 2: But the truth of the matter is, I think that
- 5:37Speaker 2: I can relate to what George Burns is saying, you know,
- 5:41Speaker 2: and maybe you can too. I'd rather fail doing something
- 5:45Speaker 2: I love than being great at something I just can't
- 5:48Speaker 2: stand doing, you know. So apply that to your life today.
- 5:53Speaker 2: And remember, it's all about fulfillment over appearances. You don't
- 5:58Speaker 2: have to chase a promotion. You don't have to chase
- 6:00Speaker 2: a paycheck. Just do what's right for you, and then
- 6:04Speaker 2: think on exactly what you did win. It's 97.1 Wash FM.
- 6:09Speaker 2: We're Toby and Chili in the morning. That is your
- 6:11Speaker 2: morning mindset. You know where to find it. Toby and
- 6:12Speaker 2: Chili page, washfm.com. Go check our Insta stories, Facebook stories,
- 6:17Speaker 2: all that other stuff and more, and you'll see it.
- 6:19Speaker 2: You can share it and let it be known that
- 6:22Speaker 2: it spoke unto you. And stay right there because in
- 6:25Speaker 2: just a few minutes this morning.
- 6:26Speaker 4: We're going to talk about pre-gaming now that NFL season
- 6:29Speaker 4: is upon us.
- 6:30Speaker 3: Would you rather tailgate or home gate? It'll all make sense.
- 6:33Speaker 3: Stick around.
- 6:34Speaker 2: In case you live under a rock and you haven't
- 6:36Speaker 2: watched any of the local news, football season is here.
- 6:40Speaker 2: The Commanders fans are getting a little ornery. Ready to
- 6:43Speaker 2: go see some football in person or are they? 97.1
- 6:47Speaker 2: Watch FM. We're Toby and Chili in the morning. In fact,
- 6:50Speaker 2: are people looking forward to going to games and doing
- 6:52Speaker 2: the whole pregame experience? Or are they looking forward to
- 6:56Speaker 2: taking in a football game at home?
- 6:59Speaker 4: Yeah, well, it looks like more and more people are
- 7:01Speaker 4: preferring home gate rather than the traditional tailgate.
- 7:04Speaker 5: Right.
- 7:06Speaker 4: And the ideal hangout begins about two and a half
- 7:09Speaker 4: hours before the game. It includes about 11 people with
- 7:13Speaker 4: six different things to eat and six different things to drink.
- 7:16Speaker 3: Hmm.
- 7:22Speaker 2: For toby home gating chili do you know why everything's
- 7:26Speaker 2: cheaper i have more of it back when i used
- 7:29Speaker 2: to kick the hooch man i could afford the titos
- 7:33Speaker 2: you have to put yourself on a budget when you
- 7:34Speaker 2: go to a ball game and by the way the
- 7:37Speaker 2: national football league has made it very good to stay
- 7:42Speaker 2: home in front of your television and watch not just
- 7:45Speaker 2: one game right but all of the games at the
- 7:47Speaker 2: same time with the red zone.
- 7:49Speaker 4: I think if you're in a good group of people
- 7:53Speaker 4: for the tailgating experience, nothing can truly top that. Being
- 7:57Speaker 4: in the parking lot with people who do the RV gimmick,
- 8:00Speaker 4: like those are hardcore tailgaters and there is a vibe
- 8:04Speaker 4: you cannot replicate at home. But since I don't know
- 8:06Speaker 4: anybody like that, yeah, I'm home gating too. Like I
- 8:09Speaker 4: don't have people like that in my circle, but if
- 8:11Speaker 4: I had a dude or a friend who did it
- 8:13Speaker 4: that way, heck yeah, I'm coming.
- 8:15Speaker 2: Yeah, like if I had like a tour bus kind
- 8:17Speaker 2: of a situation.
- 8:18Speaker 4: A friend or somebody who has that whole set up.
- 8:21Speaker 2: Yeah, I would throw in on that because you know what?
- 8:23Speaker 2: Then we'd have facilities and a place to retreat.
- 8:26Speaker 3: Air conditioning, yeah.
- 8:27Speaker 2: Air conditioning, you know, the comforts of home, which is
- 8:31Speaker 2: why I choose to home gate. Others choose to tailgate.
- 8:34Speaker 2: What do you choose? Talk back some things. So tap
- 8:38Speaker 2: speak and send if you're signed into your iHeart app
- 8:40Speaker 2: and let us know what you choose. Home gating or
- 8:42Speaker 2: tailgating or none of the above because you're not a
- 8:45Speaker 2: fan of football. That's okay too. We're Toby and Tilly
- 8:48Speaker 2: in the morning. It is 97.1 Wash FM and minutes
- 8:51Speaker 2: the news. Tough stories at the top of the hour.
- 8:53Speaker 2: What's up today?
- 8:55Speaker 3: Forget January.
- 8:56Speaker 4: It seems September is becoming the new month for a
- 9:00Speaker 4: fresh start.
- 9:01Speaker 3: I'll explain why in just a few minutes.
- 9:04Speaker 5: Hey there, Wheaton.
- 9:05Speaker 2: If Georgia Avenue is part of your plan this morning
- 9:07Speaker 2: and your coffee's hot, you're ahead of the game.
- 9:09Speaker 5: Toby and Chili in the morning.
- 9:10Speaker 2: It's 97.1 Wash FM and you need to stay with
- 9:15Speaker 2: us if you would love to do some gaming while
- 9:17Speaker 2: you're in Vegas.

- 9:22Speaker 4: both days this month plus $ 1, 000 spending money. Just listen
- 9:26Speaker 4: right around 9, 10 for the keyword to text and win.
- 9:29Speaker 5: They are cardigans.
- 9:30Speaker 1: 97.1 WASH-FM, Washington. An iHeartRadio station. Coming up on Top Stories,
- 9:38Speaker 1: top of the hour.
- 9:39Speaker 4: The president has signed a stopgap bill keeping the federal
- 9:43Speaker 4: government funded through December 11th.
- 9:45Speaker 3: We've got the latest on that story and others on
- 9:48Speaker 3: the way.
- 9:49Speaker 4: With Toby and Chili in the morning on 97.1 WASH-FM.
- 9:55Speaker 6: Top Stories, top.
- 9:57Speaker 3: Of the hour.
- 9:58Speaker 4: The president has signed a stopgap bill bill keeping the
- 10:01Speaker 4: federal government funded through December 11th. The measure passed both
- 10:04Speaker 4: the Senate and House. The FBI is investigating a reported
- 10:08Speaker 4: data breach that may have exposed millions of U.S. driver's licenses.
- 10:12Speaker 4: The bureau says that it's looking into a dark website
- 10:16Speaker 4: reportedly selling digital scans of licenses. Authorities are investigating after
- 10:21Speaker 4: a Coast Guard airplane carrying Homeland Security Secretary Mark Wayne
- 10:24Speaker 4: Mullen made an emergency landing at Reagan National after an
- 10:29Speaker 4: engine failure. The plane had reportedly been flagged last year
- 10:33Speaker 4: for being too old to fly. Montgomery County police issued
- 10:37Speaker 4: 269 tickets to drivers who illegally passed stop school buses
- 10:42Speaker 4: during the first week of school. Police are warning drivers
- 10:45Speaker 4: to slow down and pay attention with violations caught on
- 10:49Speaker 4: camera carrying a $ 250 fine. Well, starting September 28th, MARC
- 10:55Speaker 4: is launching a new direct train between Montgomery County and Baltimore.
- 11:00Speaker 4: The weekday service will cut travel times by up to
- 11:03Speaker 4: an hour and eliminate the need to transfer. A former
- 11:07Speaker 4: Fairfax County office building with a very recognizable look is
- 11:11Speaker 4: getting a second life as affordable housing. The building, once
- 11:15Speaker 4: nicknamed the Darth Vader Building, is being converted into 273
- 11:19Speaker 4: affordable apartments. And forget January, it seems September is becoming
- 11:25Speaker 4: the new month for a fresh start. The September reset
- 11:29Speaker 4: trend is taking over TikTok, with people using the back
- 11:33Speaker 4: to school feeling to reset their routines, goals, and even
- 11:37Speaker 4: mindset for the rest of the year. Forecast today, partly cloudy, hot, humid,
- 11:42Speaker 4: with a chance of storms again. Highs around 95. That
- 11:46Speaker 4: heat index, though, near 105.

- 12:00Speaker 2: And coming up in just a few minutes with Toby
- 12:02Speaker 2: and Chili in the morning, we're going to talk with
- 12:04Speaker 2: you about guys who are, well, doing something that nobody
- 12:09Speaker 2: would have thought guys would care about.
- 12:12Speaker 5: We'll get into it.
- 12:13Speaker 2: I can't believe we're actually saying this, but guys see
- 12:17Speaker 2: this as being feminine.
- 12:18Speaker 5: What?
- 12:19Speaker 2: Toby and Chili in the morning. It's 97.1 Wash FM.
- 12:23Speaker 2: What are we talking about? Well, guys, check this.
- 12:26Speaker 4: A new study finds a lot of men see dieting.
- 12:29Speaker 4: As being too feminine. Even if they secretly hate how
- 12:32Speaker 4: they look in the mirror. And researchers say that appearance
- 12:37Speaker 4: and not health is what actually pushes men to make
- 12:39Speaker 4: a change. You're the guy on the show. So I
- 12:43Speaker 4: know you don't think dieting is too feminine.
- 12:46Speaker 5: No.
- 12:46Speaker 2: But I.
- 12:48Speaker 4: I don't even think you secretly sometimes hate the way
- 12:50Speaker 4: you look. You're very open about your insecurity.
- 12:53Speaker 3: Sure.
- 12:53Speaker 2: No, there are times when I can't stand the way
- 12:55Speaker 2: I look like kind of right now. Well, no, because
- 12:58Speaker 2: I've been dealing with some injuries. I haven't been able
- 13:00Speaker 2: to be as active as I was. OK. And, you know,
- 13:03Speaker 2: being sedentary is not always the best thing sitting around and.
- 13:08Speaker 5: You know, I should be out doing more walking and whatnot,
- 13:10Speaker 5: but it hurts.
- 13:11Speaker 4: But is there something you do to look better that
- 13:14Speaker 4: people may not guess.
- 13:15Speaker 2: That you really care about? The most wild thing that
- 13:18Speaker 2: I do is this. I will intentionally wear tighter shirts
- 13:23Speaker 2: underneath whatever I have on.
- 13:25Speaker 3: Like a compression, like women wear Spanx, right?
- 13:27Speaker 5: That's exactly it. It's like Spanx for men.
- 13:30Speaker 3: Oh, nice.
- 13:31Speaker 5: Yep.
- 13:31Speaker 3: Well, it's not a secret anymore.
- 13:32Speaker 4: No, no, no.
- 13:33Speaker 2: You see me in a white or a dark shirt
- 13:35Speaker 2: like that. That's probably what it is. If I dress
- 13:38Speaker 2: in the uniform and I'm wearing like a white shirt
- 13:40Speaker 2: with a vest on and then a jacket, chances are
- 13:43Speaker 2: good I'm wearing that white to keep all the stuff in.
- 13:45Speaker 3: All right.
- 13:46Speaker 4: Well, if you're going to make a confession, I will
- 13:48Speaker 4: tell you the same thing. I don't think my friends
- 13:50Speaker 4: would ever guess that I use a spray like a dye,
- 13:56Speaker 4: like a L'Oreal makes a spray to get me through
- 13:59Speaker 4: the in-between appointments for the.
- 14:00Speaker 3: Roots, my grays. Because I don't want my grays to
- 14:03Speaker 3: grow in that much.
- 14:04Speaker 5: I think a lot of people do that.
- 14:06Speaker 4: Do they also, because I have a little bit of
- 14:07Speaker 4: thinning hair on the crown after menopause, I also have
- 14:11Speaker 4: the fiber spray to kind of fill in that little gap,
- 14:14Speaker 4: a little bit of a gap back there.
- 14:16Speaker 5: You have a full head of hair.
- 14:20Speaker 1: Wow.
- 14:21Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 14:21Speaker 5: Well, you have nothing to be self-conscious about. It looks great.
- 14:24Speaker 2: Is there something that you do that nobody would have
- 14:28Speaker 2: thought you cared about?
- 14:29Speaker 5: What is it?
- 14:30Speaker 3: All to look better.
- 14:31Speaker 5: Not going to judge. 866-927-4361 is the number. You know
- 14:33Speaker 5: what to do. We'll talk.
- 14:37Speaker 2: You know the number is 866-927-4361. As you listen this
- 14:44Speaker 2: morning to 97.1 Wash FM, if you want to jump
- 14:48Speaker 2: into any conversation, you are more than welcome to do so.
- 14:52Speaker 2: And right now, we're talking about something that nobody would
- 14:56Speaker 2: know that you do to look better.
- 14:58Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 14:59Speaker 5: And it could be anything.
- 15:01Speaker 4: It came up because men, even though they're very insecure
- 15:04Speaker 4: about how they look, They feel like dieting is too feminine.
- 15:08Speaker 4: And they hide the fact that they're trying to look better.
- 15:11Speaker 5: It's not, people.
- 15:12Speaker 3: Yeah, exactly.
- 15:12Speaker 5: It's not. But dieting is just one part of the equation.
- 15:16Speaker 3: Sure.
- 15:16Speaker 2: I think not just men, but that people do in
- 15:19Speaker 2: order to, quote, look better.
- 15:21Speaker 5: And you know what?
- 15:22Speaker 2: Hey, if it helps you to work on your own
- 15:24Speaker 2: internal insecurities, why not?
- 15:26Speaker 3: Hey, maybe we can steal one of your hacks if
- 15:28Speaker 3: you share a good one with us.
- 15:29Speaker 1: At 866-927-4255.
- 15:29Speaker 2: 4361 so we'll go over to uh over by westmoreland
- 15:36Speaker 2: circle in bethesda jeffrey good morning i.
- 15:40Speaker 7: Learned that i look better in photos if i angle
- 15:42Speaker 7: myself at 45 degrees to the camera.
- 15:46Speaker 3: Okay well that's good do you have any other tricks
- 15:48Speaker 3: if it's.
- 15:49Speaker 7: A full length pic i also put one hand in
- 15:51Speaker 7: my pocket That's slimming.
- 15:53Speaker 5: That's camera trick.
- 15:54Speaker 4: And also it gives your hand something to do because
- 15:56Speaker 4: hands can look really awkward in a photo.
- 15:58Speaker 7: It's a little thing, but I feel so much better
- 16:00Speaker 7: looking at photos on myself when I do it.
- 16:02Speaker 2: And at the end of the day, that's what it's
- 16:05Speaker 2: all about, Jeffrey. How do you feel when you see
- 16:09Speaker 2: that photo? Thanks for jumping in this morning. Denise, Fairfax City,
- 16:14Speaker 2: I understand something bugs you when you take photos.
- 16:17Speaker 6: My neck.
- 16:18Speaker 7: I don't know when this became something I cared about,
- 16:20Speaker 7: but apparently I have strong opinions about whether my neck
- 16:24Speaker 7: looks good in pictures.
- 16:26Speaker 4: Well, that's definitely an insecurity for a lot of folks,
- 16:28Speaker 4: but the secret to that is sort of putting your
- 16:30Speaker 4: face a little bit forward and making sure the camera
- 16:34Speaker 4: is a little bit higher to hide said neck.
- 16:37Speaker 5: That's right.
- 16:37Speaker 2: The photographers would tell you to lead with your chin,
- 16:40Speaker 2: lead with your chin, lead with the chin, but be subtle.
- 16:43Speaker 2: Pulls it out, stretches it, you know, spreads out the thing.
- 16:46Speaker 2: But we love you just the way you are.
- 16:48Speaker 5: That's right. We do. 97.1 Wash FM. Kissing up? Absolutely.
- 16:53Speaker 5: Hang out.
- 16:54Speaker 2: Top stories at the top of the hour right around
- 16:56Speaker 2: 710 this morning.
- 16:57Speaker 5: Chili, what are you working on?
- 16:59Speaker 4: DC is leaning into a new nickname to attract more tourists.
- 17:03Speaker 4: I'll share what that is.
- 17:04Speaker 3: Coming up in just a few minutes.
- 17:06Speaker 5: Ed Sheeran's going to be in Philly at The Link.
- 17:09Speaker 2: You want to go, then you need to stay with
- 17:10Speaker 2: 97.1 Wash FM, Toby and Chili in the morning.
- 17:14Speaker 4: Right around 7.10, after Toby and Chili's top stories, we're
- 17:17Speaker 4: going to ask our nearly impossible question.
- 17:20Speaker 3: And if you get it right, you're headed up to Philadelphia,
- 17:23Speaker 3: September 19th.
- 17:24Speaker 2: Thanks for listening to us in Tysons. It's Madonna and
- 17:28Speaker 2: a song called Like a Prayer that has nothing to
- 17:30Speaker 2: do with prayer at all.
- 17:32Speaker 1: 97.1 WASH FM, Washington. an iHeartRadio station. Coming up on
- 17:38Speaker 1: Top Stories, top of the hour.
- 17:40Speaker 4: The president has signed a stopgap funding bill to keep
- 17:43Speaker 4: the government open. We've got the latest on that story
- 17:46Speaker 4: and others on the way with Toby and Chili in
- 17:49Speaker 4: the morning on 97.1 Wash FM.
- 17:54Speaker 6: Top Stories, top of the hour.
- 17:56Speaker 4: The president has signed a stopgap funding bill keeping the
- 17:59Speaker 4: government open through December 11th. Now the measure passed the
- 18:02Speaker 4: Senate and House with strong bipartisan support.
- 18:04Speaker 3: But it sets up another year-end funding fight. D.C.
- 18:08Speaker 4: 's attorney general is suing the owner of a Northeast
- 18:10Speaker 4: apartment building over what he calls deplorable conditions.
- 18:15Speaker 3: The Delta Pearl has had no working air.
- 18:17Speaker 4: Conditioning or elevators since July, and fire damage from February
- 18:22Speaker 4: remains unrepaired. Southwest Airlines is bringing airport lounges to BWI.
- 18:28Speaker 4: The airline says the new lounges will offer travelers a
- 18:30Speaker 4: place to relax, work, and grab some food before their flights,
- 18:33Speaker 4: and they're expected to open late this year.
- 18:37Speaker 3: D.C.
- 18:38Speaker 4: Is leaning into its sports capital nickname. It's an effort
- 18:42Speaker 4: to attract more tourists. City officials are promoting the district's
- 18:46Speaker 4: major teams and sporting events as a way to bring
- 18:48Speaker 4: more visitors and more tourism dollars to the city. A
- 18:52Speaker 4: new $ 1 coin featuring the president's face went on sale
- 18:56Speaker 4: yesterday from the U.S. Mint, pairing his image as heads
- 19:00Speaker 4: and the great seal as tails. It's drawn criticism since
- 19:04Speaker 4: federal law bars living presidents on currency, although the Treasury
- 19:08Speaker 4: can authorize exceptions. Now, if you are a pet owner,
- 19:12Speaker 4: you may be putting your furry friend ahead of your
- 19:15Speaker 4: travel plans. A new survey finds that 7 in 10
- 19:19Speaker 4: pet owners limit their trips because of their pets, and
- 19:22Speaker 4: nearly half of them feel guilty leaving their pets behind.
- 19:27Speaker 4: Forecast for today, partly cloudy, hot, humid. Chance of a
- 19:30Speaker 4: storm later on. Highs around 95, but that heat index 105.
- 19:34Speaker 4: Right now, 76 in Aldi.
- 19:38Speaker 6: Toby and Chili's Nearly Impossible Question.
- 19:41Speaker 5: And the question this morning.
- 19:43Speaker 4: 37% of people buy this on a weekly basis.

- 20:04Speaker 4: 37% of people buy this on a weekly basis.

- 20:17Speaker 2: Ed Sheeran at the link.
- 20:20Speaker 5: Call now. Game on.
- 20:23Speaker 6: Toby and Chili's Nearly Impossible Question.
- 20:25Speaker 2: Can we get the Thursday question again, please?
- 20:29Speaker 4: 37% of people buy this on a weekly basis.
- 20:33Speaker 3: It's something you consume.
- 20:35Speaker 5: What is it? Call now. Get it right.
- 20:37Speaker 2: You're going to go see Ed Sheeran in Philly. A
- 20:41Speaker 2: little road trip action. He's at Lincoln Financial Field. Thanks
- 20:44Speaker 2: to AEG. Tickets are yours at 866-927-4361.
- 20:46Speaker 4: Hello.
- 20:46Speaker 5: Who they is. Where you stay.
- 20:51Speaker 1: Good morning.
- 20:52Speaker 5: This is Kevin from Ashburn, Virginia. Welcome, Kevin. You got
- 20:55Speaker 5: the question.
- 20:56Speaker 2: For the tickets to see Ed Sheeran at the Link
- 20:58Speaker 2: in Philly, what's your guess?
- 21:00Speaker 4: Is it milk?
- 21:01Speaker 3: It is not milk, but okay, you've helped with another clue.
- 21:05Speaker 3: It is a beverage.
- 21:08Speaker 5: A beverage, but no leche.
- 21:09Speaker 3: But thank you. Try again tomorrow, okay?
- 21:12Speaker 4: Will do.
- 21:12Speaker 5: All right, thanks. Thank you, sir. And what is your name?
- 21:15Speaker 5: Where would you be from this morning?
- 21:17Speaker 4: Hi, this is Connie Lee from Fairfax, Virginia.
- 21:19Speaker 5: Hey there, welcome. What's your guess?
- 21:22Speaker 3: My guess is, I said, iced tea, sweet tea. Ooh,
- 21:26Speaker 3: it is a beverage.
- 21:28Speaker 4: I know that's another good beverage guess, but no.
- 21:31Speaker 3: It is not the right answer.
- 21:33Speaker 6: Oh, no.
- 21:35Speaker 2: But now you're making me want some Zero Sugar Turkey
- 21:38Speaker 2: Hill iced tea.
- 21:40Speaker 5: Yes, yes.
- 21:41Speaker 4: Okay, well, thank you.
- 21:43Speaker 5: Thank you. Try again manana, okay?
- 21:45Speaker 4: All right.
- 21:46Speaker 5: And who is this? Where are you from?
- 21:48Speaker 3: Hey, what's going on, you guys?
- 21:50Speaker 5: It's Chris calling from Manassas Park.
- 21:52Speaker 2: All right, Chris, you got the question for the tickets
- 21:55Speaker 2: Ed Sheeran in Philly at the link. Your guess is?
- 21:58Speaker 5: I'm going to go with some alcohol.
- 22:01Speaker 7: Oh!
- 22:01Speaker 4: Oh! What is your alcoholic beverage of choice?
- 22:06Speaker 5: I'm an old-fashioned kind of guy.
- 22:08Speaker 4: He was saying it's old-fashioned and old-fashioned. I was like,
- 22:10Speaker 4: so what's the old-fashioned drink?
- 22:12Speaker 3: No.
- 22:13Speaker 4: Old-fashioned.
- 22:14Speaker 2: I know exactly where his head was at. I'm personally
- 22:17Speaker 2: a screwdriver guy myself. 75% vodka and then a splash
- 22:21Speaker 2: of OJ, but that's probably part of the problem.
- 22:24Speaker 4: Right.
- 22:24Speaker 5: Just a splash.
- 22:26Speaker 3: Just a splash.
- 22:27Speaker 4: It turns out 37% of people buy alcohol on a
- 22:31Speaker 4: weekly basis, which means, Chris.
- 22:32Speaker 5: You win. Congrats.
- 22:34Speaker 4: Yes.
- 22:35Speaker 5: Thank you, guys.
- 22:36Speaker 2: Road trip up 95 in your future. Ed Sheeran at
- 22:40Speaker 2: The Link. Thanks to AEG. Tickets are yours.
- 22:42Speaker 4: Beautiful.
- 22:43Speaker 3: Thank you, guys.
- 22:44Speaker 5: Drive safely and enjoy. From what station?
- 22:47Speaker 3: 97.1 Wash FM.
- 22:49Speaker 2: And we've got more tickets. Ed Sheeran at the Lincoln
- 22:52Speaker 2: Philly tomorrow. Be here right after 710, right after Top
- 22:56Speaker 2: Stories at the top of the hour to play and
- 22:59Speaker 2: win with 97.1 Wash FM. Stay with Toby and Tilly
- 23:03Speaker 2: in the morning because.
- 23:04Speaker 4: Coming up next, we're going to talk about pheromone maxing.
- 23:08Speaker 3: It's something that dudes are doing to attract women.
- 23:12Speaker 5: Wait till you smell that.
- 23:14Speaker 2: Ladies and gentlemen, we just report these things so that
- 23:17Speaker 2: we can all learn something together, even if it makes
- 23:19Speaker 2: us scratch our heads. We're Toby and Chili in the
- 23:21Speaker 2: morning at 97.1 Wash FM, where we're reading this morning
- 23:25Speaker 2: about this new trend of not taking a shower before
- 23:29Speaker 2: you go out on a date.
- 23:31Speaker 3: Yeah, it's called pheromone maxing. And men are not using deodorant.
- 23:35Speaker 4: They're not showering intentionally because they think that the musk,
- 23:40Speaker 4: what is that called? The natural musk? will make them
- 23:44Speaker 4: biologically irresistible to women.
- 23:47Speaker 2: No, that's called the funk. The funk of 40,000 years,
- 23:51Speaker 2: like to paraphrase Michael Jackson's thriller.
- 23:54Speaker 5: Oh, goodness. No, seriously, that's just gross.
- 23:56Speaker 3: I take it you wouldn't, this is not your jam.
- 23:58Speaker 4: No.
- 23:59Speaker 5: If I'm going to match.
- 24:00Speaker 2: With somebody on a dating app and then we're going
- 24:02Speaker 2: to go out on a first date, what is that saying?
- 24:04Speaker 2: And I don't typically believe you never get a second
- 24:07Speaker 2: chance to make your first impression. But common sense is
- 24:11Speaker 2: a thing. Don't go rolling up on somebody for the
- 24:14Speaker 2: first time smelling like you just jumped out.
- 24:16Speaker 5: Of a dumpster.
- 24:16Speaker 4: I don't even know that you do it when you're
- 24:18Speaker 4: in an established relationship either because not everybody receives that
- 24:21Speaker 4: kind of smell very well. Yeah, no. I will say, though,
- 24:24Speaker 4: there is something to this because I had a girlfriend
- 24:28Speaker 4: who loved the way her boyfriend smelled after a day
- 24:31Speaker 4: at work and he worked in construction. And she would
- 24:33Speaker 4: nuzzle up to him after he'd come home. It was
- 24:36Speaker 4: just something about that. So it's not total poo-poo.
- 24:39Speaker 3: There is something.
- 24:40Speaker 5: No pun intended. I know.
- 24:41Speaker 4: I just don't think it's the majority of people. And
- 24:46Speaker 4: my line is the deodorant, right? Like.
- 24:49Speaker 3: Can you at least wear deodorant, please?
- 24:51Speaker 2: I'm just having a hard time getting the visual of
- 24:53Speaker 2: your friend, you know, nuzzling up, putting her nose up
- 24:56Speaker 2: in the dude's armpit.
- 24:57Speaker 3: Dude's like a woman after a workout, too. This goes
- 25:00Speaker 3: both ways.
- 25:01Speaker 4: Guys like the way a woman smells after she works out.
- 25:04Speaker 2: My significant other runs Ironman competitions and marathons like it's nothing.
- 25:10Speaker 2: The first thing she does when she comes home on
- 25:12Speaker 2: a Saturday, Sunday morning after doing that run is she
- 25:15Speaker 2: goes like directly to the shower.
- 25:17Speaker 3: And even if she didn't do that, you're not a
- 25:19Speaker 3: fan of that stinky smell.
- 25:21Speaker 5: No, not at all.
- 25:23Speaker 2: So what do you think about all of this, this
- 25:25Speaker 2: new trend, this pheromone maxing? Tell us more after you
- 25:30Speaker 2: read what you want to know on the Toby and
- 25:33Speaker 2: Chili page at WashFM.com. And by the way, you can

- 25:44Speaker 2: this morning?
- 25:45Speaker 4: Is the no white after Labor Day rule officially dead? Well,
- 25:49Speaker 4: a new survey may have the answer for us, and
- 25:51Speaker 4: I will share that with you in just a few.
