2:37
Speaker 4: kind of keeping an eye on the national news here
2:39
Speaker 4: as well, where John Bolton's home is currently being rated
2:43
Speaker 4: by the FBI is home and BUTTHESTA Maryland so of
2:47
Speaker 4: course your network news, ABC News, I believe just talked
2:49
Speaker 4: about it a couple of moments ago, and we're kind
2:51
Speaker 4: of keeping an eye on that story as well. I'm
2:53
Speaker 4: sure Meadows and Wilson will have more on that coming
2:55
Speaker 4: up during talk line as well as we do every Friday.
2:58
Speaker 4: Let's check in whether good friend, Angie, Gil and Water
3:00
Speaker 4: from the Ganal Charleston Humane Association with this week's Adopt
3:03
Speaker 4: Me Please Pet of the Week, Angie. Good morning, Happy Friday,
3:06
Speaker 4: Welcome to the show.
3:07
Speaker 7: Good morning and happy Friday all you guys now.
3:10
Speaker 4: As always, our pets picture posted on Dave Allen Radio
3:13
Speaker 4: on Facebook and also on the WCCHS Network Facebook page
3:17
Speaker 4: and dave A at Dave A seventy on exits at
3:20
Speaker 4: Dave A seventy on X tell us about Tiny Dancer.
3:24
Speaker 4: That is our dog this week, and we have featured
3:27
Speaker 4: her before?
3:29
Speaker 7: Oh we have? I did not know that we had
3:32
Speaker 7: featured Tiny Dancer already show.
3:34
Speaker 4: Did I misread your text? I'm sorry?
3:36
Speaker 7: We actually featured her brother Crocodile.
3:39
Speaker 4: I got you, okay, I'm sorry. I'm sorry that I
3:42
Speaker 4: must have. I must have misread your text. I apologize
3:45
Speaker 4: for that.
3:45
Speaker 7: But even if we have featured her before, you know what,
3:48
Speaker 7: I really hope she gets adopted. She's gonna be my
3:50
Speaker 7: current favorite at the shelter right now. She is about
3:54
Speaker 7: nine months old and about thirty to forty pounds, so
3:58
Speaker 7: kind of on the smaller side, great with other dogs,
4:02
Speaker 7: loves to go to our play groups, and great with kids.
4:05
Speaker 7: She's already stayed and upgrade on all our vaccine, so
4:08
Speaker 7: if you do an adopt her, she gets to go
4:09
Speaker 7: home immediately with you. And the only downside to Tiny
4:14
Speaker 7: Dancer is she is what we call an escape artist.
4:17
Speaker 7: She does love to jump fences, so she will need
4:21
Speaker 7: to be monitored if you're outside or on a leash
4:24
Speaker 7: if you don't have a fence, because she is the
4:26
Speaker 7: type that will hit the.
4:27
Speaker 4: Ground running or hit the ground jumping, as the case
4:30
Speaker 4: may be. Yeah, yeah, and so I will go and
4:33
Speaker 4: throw this out there. You know you need to know
4:35
Speaker 4: that going in. But I mean it's not saying that
4:37
Speaker 4: she can't be worked with because she's still so very
4:40
Speaker 4: very young. But if you're going to consider adopting this
4:44
Speaker 4: dog and think, well, I'll just leave her chained up,
4:47
Speaker 4: then don't do it.
4:48
Speaker 3: Just don't do it, Yes.
4:50
Speaker 7: Please do not do that. We can offer a lot
4:52
Speaker 7: of resources for you as far as training goes to
4:55
Speaker 7: encourage her not to be a fence jumper and not
4:58
Speaker 7: that you know, tie out and as an air quotes,
5:02
Speaker 7: chaining the dog up is not you know, it's not
5:05
Speaker 7: necessarily a bad thing for a small periods of time
5:08
Speaker 7: while you're working on training her. One of my dogs
5:11
Speaker 7: has a tie out while we work on training. But
5:15
Speaker 7: her living on a tie out is not what we're looking.
5:17
Speaker 4: No, no, it's never what you're looking for in any case.
5:19
Speaker 4: But that's a good point that you brought about the training.
5:21
Speaker 4: But if you're going to get a dog and you're
5:23
Speaker 4: going to leave them chained up, then don't get a dog,
5:25
Speaker 4: get a fish. That's my opinion. We'll get back to
5:29
Speaker 4: a tiny dancer here momentarily. Again, we're talking to Angie
5:31
Speaker 4: Gillan Water from the Canala Charleston Umane Association. Your numbers
5:35
Speaker 4: are quite high, Angie, And according to your social media
5:38
Speaker 4: that I check out before the show, I did it
5:40
Speaker 4: earlier this morning, you're looking at something like four hundred
5:42
Speaker 4: and thirteen animals up there? Is that, right?
5:46
Speaker 7: Yes? And what's crazy is four hundred and thirteen. I'm
5:49
Speaker 7: glad we're in the four hundreds at this point, right,
5:53
Speaker 7: I'm glad we're out of the five hundreds. Four hundred
5:55
Speaker 7: and thirteen is still a lot to be taken care of.
5:57
Speaker 7: I'm glad we are away from the five hundred exactly.
6:01
Speaker 4: And I say that because we want to bring up
6:03
Speaker 4: that you folks are in need of a lot of
6:06
Speaker 4: different things, but primarily food is what you're looking for now, right.
6:10
Speaker 7: Yes, yesterday we have found out we were close to
6:13
Speaker 7: cracking open the last bags of Purina dog Chowl and
6:17
Speaker 7: we did use our last bag of Purina kitt and
6:20
Speaker 7: Chow yesterday. So food is a big need for us,
6:23
Speaker 7: as well as down dishwashing liquid. We're completely out of
6:26
Speaker 7: that as well, and that is very important for us
6:29
Speaker 7: to have to be able to wash dishes each day.
6:31
Speaker 4: All right. So again, you know, we do the segment
6:33
Speaker 4: every Friday, and I get people all the time to say, man,
6:36
Speaker 4: I love listening to you and Aerngie on the radio,
6:39
Speaker 4: and I wish I could adopt a dog, but I
6:41
Speaker 4: live in a small place. I've got other dogs I can't.
6:44
Speaker 4: There are ways you can help out the Canal Charleston
6:46
Speaker 4: Humane Association in the shelter without actually adopting a pet,
6:49
Speaker 4: and this is one of those.
6:51
Speaker 7: Absolutely. Donating supplies that we need is a big way
6:54
Speaker 7: to help us. Or you can stop by the shelter
6:56
Speaker 7: and volunteer or borrow a buddy for the day. If
6:59
Speaker 7: you don't know what borrow he is, you quite literally
7:01
Speaker 7: can just borrow one of our dogs, takes them on
7:03
Speaker 7: a super fun day and then bring them back before
7:06
Speaker 7: we could.
7:06
Speaker 4: And this would be a great weekend to do that
7:08
Speaker 4: because the weather is actually going to be really, really
7:11
Speaker 4: nice this weekend, and I was looking ahead, Angie at
7:14
Speaker 4: the next week. It's almost going to feel like fall, sunshine,
7:17
Speaker 4: temperatures in below seventies pretty much every day next week.
7:19
Speaker 4: It would be a great time because it's been just
7:22
Speaker 4: so hot this summer. It would be a great time
7:24
Speaker 4: for somebody to go and borrow buddies, you say, take
7:26
Speaker 4: them for a walk, take them to one of the
7:28
Speaker 4: dog parks, take them, you know, out on the boulevard,
7:30
Speaker 4: and he don't have to worry about burning their their
7:32
Speaker 4: their pads on the on the ground or anything. Be
7:34
Speaker 4: a great time to do that.
7:36
Speaker 7: Absolutely. We actually had one of our long term residents, Bongo,
7:40
Speaker 7: he went to a borrow a buddy yesterday and he
7:43
Speaker 7: was simply taken because he likes to play in the
7:45
Speaker 7: water and he likes pools. Someone actually came and got
7:49
Speaker 7: him because she has an end ground pool and wanted
7:51
Speaker 7: him to have fun swimming for the day.
7:53
Speaker 4: So it's as simple as a I love it, I
7:55
Speaker 4: love it.
7:55
Speaker 2: You did.
7:56
Speaker 4: Somebody just said I need I need a water dog
7:58
Speaker 4: for the day, and then they went and got the bongo.
8:00
Speaker 4: The Nave Island Show in five eighty live is presented
8:03
Speaker 4: apart by Generations Physical Therapy with nine practices all offering
8:06
Speaker 4: extended hours. So access to physical therapy has never been
8:08
Speaker 4: easier for your appointment three zero four, seven, six zero
8:11
Speaker 4: fifty six to sixty or visit generationspt dot com. When
8:14
Speaker 4: you were talking about some of the things that you
8:17
Speaker 4: needed Antie as far as donations go, and you did
8:19
Speaker 4: mention Dawn dishwashing liquid. Had somebody asked me one time,
8:22
Speaker 4: why is it brand specific? But there's a reason for that. Explain.
8:26
Speaker 7: Oh uh, We actually we're not too picky about brands
8:30
Speaker 7: when it comes with the dishwashing liquids specifically. Now with
8:34
Speaker 7: our foods we are, but things like dishwashing legs that
8:39
Speaker 7: we are not tacky out. Okay, Yeah, people just recognize
8:43
Speaker 7: Dawn really popular.
8:45
Speaker 4: Yeah, it's it's kind of like saying band aid, which
8:48
Speaker 4: is actually a brand name, you know, or crayon or
8:50
Speaker 4: something like that. Okray olda Okay, I got you because
8:53
Speaker 4: here's the reason I say that is because somebody had
8:55
Speaker 4: asked me at one point, and I know there are
8:57
Speaker 4: certain things like that that you want specific brands for
9:02
Speaker 4: one reason or another, and I thought maybe with don
9:04
Speaker 4: it may be because it was just better, you know,
9:06
Speaker 4: for cleaning purposes or whatever, something in the chemicals or whatever.
9:09
Speaker 4: But but you'll pretty much take what take what you
9:12
Speaker 4: can get. Are you as specific on the on the
9:14
Speaker 4: brands of animal food that you ask for?
9:18
Speaker 7: Yes, So we feed everyone on a Purina diet number one,
9:22
Speaker 7: just because it is like the most affordable food out
9:25
Speaker 7: there for us to maintain in bulk. And then also
9:29
Speaker 7: we feed everyone the same food just that way. If
9:31
Speaker 7: someone has, you know, tummy issues, we know that it's
9:35
Speaker 7: probably food related because we're feeding everyone the same thing good.
9:39
Speaker 7: So then we can you know, explore other options with that.
9:42
Speaker 7: And then as far as the cast goes, same thing,
9:45
Speaker 7: pretty specific on food with that, just to keep an
9:48
Speaker 7: eye out for tommy issues and we know it's not
9:50
Speaker 7: food related or it is food related with that, So
9:53
Speaker 7: that is why we are specific with that. If you
9:56
Speaker 7: do donate brands that are not Purina brand foods, we
10:00
Speaker 7: still have a great use for those. We actually have
10:02
Speaker 7: a public food pantry for pets in the community that
10:05
Speaker 7: need fed so they don't have to come into the
10:08
Speaker 7: shelter system, so we use other brands for that.
10:12
Speaker 4: That's something we haven't spent a lot of time talking
10:14
Speaker 4: about and what we may explore that in the future
10:17
Speaker 4: segment is that food pantry that you have. Got a
10:19
Speaker 4: couple of questions here for you. Via the text line,
10:22
Speaker 4: somebody said, for Angie, has anyone brought in the kitten
10:25
Speaker 4: that was thrown from the bridge last week? Just wanted
10:28
Speaker 4: to see if he or she's okay emotionally. I hope
10:31
Speaker 4: someone or someone had a camera got the license of
10:34
Speaker 4: that white suv that did that to this sweet thing.
10:37
Speaker 4: Time to start arresting these pieces of human fecal matter
10:40
Speaker 4: for this evil are you Are you familiar with that story, Angie?
10:43
Speaker 7: I am familiar with the story, and we I mean
10:46
Speaker 7: I prepared our whole team. I saw it on Facebook
10:49
Speaker 7: and I was like, we've got a kitten that was
10:50
Speaker 7: thrown off a bridge, like, get medical ready, to get
10:52
Speaker 7: our cat team ready, get everyone ready. And the kitten
10:55
Speaker 7: never came in, So I'm assuming that maybe the finder
11:00
Speaker 7: had taken it to a vet. It was fine and
11:02
Speaker 7: they found a new home for it. That is best
11:05
Speaker 7: case scenario and what I'm assuming that had happened. But
11:08
Speaker 7: we have not gotten that kitt and yet. If we do,
11:10
Speaker 7: I'll definitely be sure to update.
11:12
Speaker 4: All right, Another question that person says, I'm asking if
11:15
Speaker 4: one of the portable classrooms could be used to help
11:19
Speaker 4: with shelter overflow. Its not just Gnaw, but all over
11:21
Speaker 4: the states. Please consider that idea. The portable classrooms maybe
11:25
Speaker 4: that aren't being used anymore, something like that.
11:27
Speaker 7: Oh, that is a great idea. I'll definitely take that
11:30
Speaker 7: to the higher ups that aren't me and see if
11:34
Speaker 7: that is something that could be used. Because the adult dogs,
11:37
Speaker 7: as far as spacing goes, is what we've been struggling with.
11:41
Speaker 7: And when I tell you, there's not a single kennel
11:43
Speaker 7: open ever, as soon as one does open up, another
11:46
Speaker 7: dog is there to take it to spot. So that
11:49
Speaker 7: is something that I will definitely share with our team
11:51
Speaker 7: and we'll look into.
11:52
Speaker 4: And you know, Angel, We've got our WVRC Media Cares
11:55
Speaker 4: for Kids radiothon going on right now. Started yesterday, It's
11:59
Speaker 4: going to wrap up to day raising money for WVU
12:03
Speaker 4: Children's WU Medicine Children's and somebody sent a text They've
12:08
Speaker 4: been listening to that and they asked they and do
12:10
Speaker 4: hospitals like WVU Children's or maybe c AMC ever adopt
12:14
Speaker 4: a mascot or therapy pets for patient comforts, especially for
12:18
Speaker 4: kids and the elderly.
12:21
Speaker 7: So I have not seen a hospital do that in
12:24
Speaker 7: our area yet. But Metro nine one one actually adopted
12:29
Speaker 7: a dog from us that lives up there. His name
12:31
Speaker 7: is Pep. He you know, just kind of offers support
12:35
Speaker 7: and love to the workers up there that need it,
12:40
Speaker 7: so he is up there. And then we also have
12:43
Speaker 7: a contract worked out with Edgewood Summit where we take
12:46
Speaker 7: puppies to them or kittens to them and visit once
12:49
Speaker 7: a month. So that is kind of answering that question.
12:53
Speaker 7: But I've not seen any hospital or anything like that
12:56
Speaker 7: do that in the area quite yet.
12:57
Speaker 4: All right, before we let you go, what else you
12:59
Speaker 4: got going on you guys out and about anywhere this
13:01
Speaker 4: weekend or any other activities you need to tell us about.
13:04
Speaker 7: So we do have a special going on this weekend.
13:07
Speaker 7: Any dog that's over the age of four months old,
13:09
Speaker 7: you get to pick your price as long as it's
13:11
Speaker 7: a dollar or more. You get to pick your price
13:14
Speaker 7: on their adoption tee and we will actually be at
13:17
Speaker 7: Ellen's ice Cream tomorrow from one to three with adoptable
13:21
Speaker 7: puppies and kittens and hoping to fund them homes as
13:24
Speaker 7: well at Ellen.
13:25
Speaker 4: All right, Ellen's Downtown, all right, and you appreciate it
13:28
Speaker 4: and we will talk again soon. Thanks a lot.
13:31
Speaker 6: Down's great, have a good one you as well.
13:33
Speaker 4: Nine to twenty and again are adopt me? Please put
13:36
Speaker 4: up the week picture posted on Dave Allen Radio on
13:38
Speaker 4: Facebook and at Dave A seventy and x. Also on
13:40
Speaker 4: the WCCHS Network page as well. It's a Tiny Dancer
13:44
Speaker 4: and a Tiny Dancer is nine months old, fully vaccinated
13:49
Speaker 4: and spade great with kids. The only drawback to Tiny
13:52
Speaker 4: Dancer is that maybe Tiny Dancer's name should be Tiny
13:55
Speaker 4: Jumper because she does like to jump and so she
13:59
Speaker 4: just needs to be worked with. She's relatively young, so
14:01
Speaker 4: and she's kind of an escape artist. But somebody could
14:03
Speaker 4: definitely come into work with its beautiful dog. To check
14:05
Speaker 4: out the picture, get in touch with the folks at
14:07
Speaker 4: the GNAWE Charles Newman Association. Let's get this week's pet adopted.

16:35
Speaker 4: where you thought you thought Live on the Levee was over. Well,
16:38
Speaker 4: guess what it's not. Yeah, there's one more and it's
16:42
Speaker 4: happening tonight. Had ed Riverfront Park. Let's bringing Jim Strawn
16:44
Speaker 4: right now, who is not in studio with us. Jimmy,
16:47
Speaker 4: good morning.
16:48
Speaker 6: What's going on.
16:49
Speaker 10: I'm not in the studio. I'm from Parts unknown right now.
16:53
Speaker 4: Brother, I missed your smiling face.
16:56
Speaker 10: Well I'm smiling right now. You can hear it through
16:58
Speaker 10: the phone, I.
16:58
Speaker 4: Hope right, yeah, exactly exactly. So it ain't over till
17:02
Speaker 4: it's over. And brother, we got one more.
17:05
Speaker 10: I'm so excited. Yeah, we had a little rain this
17:08
Speaker 10: summer and we got one of them lightning and rained out.
17:12
Speaker 10: So the city said, you know what we gotta do.
17:14
Speaker 10: We gotta do one more kind of a I don't
17:17
Speaker 10: know what you call it, a little what do you
17:20
Speaker 10: call them when they come back on the Encore? Yeah,
17:24
Speaker 10: you have an Encore performer tonight. So yeah, August and
17:26
Speaker 10: twenty second season twenty one. The Moses Otter Group Live
17:30
Speaker 10: Levy will come to an official end tonight at six
17:34
Speaker 10: o'clock down at Hadad Riverfrump Park. Our good friends, we've
17:38
Speaker 10: known them forever. They're West Virginia Legends or Canal Valley
17:41
Speaker 10: and they're just Charlestonians that everybody loves. The Carpenter ants
17:45
Speaker 10: will take center stage at the show and bomb stage
17:48
Speaker 10: and you know they got that toe tap and Appalachian rock, gospel, eclectic,
17:54
Speaker 10: write their own stuff, do some covers. They're just great
17:57
Speaker 10: with Michael and Mark and the guys. And they'll play
18:00
Speaker 10: for sixty straight minutes. They'll get the audience warmed up,
18:04
Speaker 10: and then we'll do a little break. We'll thank our sponsors,
18:07
Speaker 10: we'll let you get a bite to eat, we'll let
18:10
Speaker 10: you get a spirited beverage or of water or soda,
18:12
Speaker 10: whatever you'd like down there, enjoy the nice breeze off
18:16
Speaker 10: of the majestic Canala River. It's going to be a
18:19
Speaker 10: picture perfect evening weatherwise. We're going to start out about
18:22
Speaker 10: eighty five and we're gonna go to the mid seventies,
18:26
Speaker 10: maybe seventy three, and then at seven.
18:28
Speaker 11: Thirty pm tonight.
18:30
Speaker 10: They didn't get a chance to do it a month ago.
18:32
Speaker 10: I know, we talked to Shila and Brandy on the
18:34
Speaker 10: show about a month ago. But we're bringing back the
18:37
Speaker 10: Charlie West All Stars. This is the group that's been
18:40
Speaker 10: together for about ten years, and it's just that it's
18:44
Speaker 10: the Charleston's best of the best. It's Canall Valley's best
18:47
Speaker 10: of the best. It's the best vocalist, the best guitarist,
18:50
Speaker 10: the best drummers, the best bass. I mean, we're bringing
18:53
Speaker 10: back about ten twelve people. They all have their own
18:56
Speaker 10: specialty and they're gonna do ninety minutes of raw different
19:00
Speaker 10: genres and folk and country, and Shayla's going to be,
19:05
Speaker 10: you know, the lead vocalists, along with Brandy Odell. But
19:08
Speaker 10: it's going to be a picture perfect evening in my mind.
19:11
Speaker 10: I look forward to hosting it as I finish up
19:14
Speaker 10: my twentieth season of Live on the Levee. Kudos to
19:18
Speaker 10: the City of Charleston, City Hall, the mayor, her team,
19:21
Speaker 10: Thanks to all the great, great sponsors, and thank thank
19:24
Speaker 10: all the listeners who've been coming down. It's been a
19:27
Speaker 10: great summer. We've enjoyed the music. Come down one more time,
19:31
Speaker 10: you got one more opportunity. The summer's not over until
19:35
Speaker 10: the Fat Lady's singing. And she hasn't done yet, and
19:38
Speaker 10: she's and she's not really the Fat Lady's not singing
19:41
Speaker 10: to night Shay this singing tonight by the way, clear no,
19:47
Speaker 10: but everybody understand it's not over yet and it'll be
19:50
Speaker 10: over the night. So you have one more opportunity to
19:52
Speaker 10: come down and enjoy the levee and enjoy your fellowship
19:55
Speaker 10: with your friends and ensure the enjoy the river and
19:58
Speaker 10: enjoy the weather and everything to Charleston offers and I
20:01
Speaker 10: just want to say, hey, thanks to the City of
20:03
Speaker 10: Charlson for affording me the opportunity to serve as the
20:06
Speaker 10: MC for twenty years, and thank you to the WBrC
20:10
Speaker 10: radio family for helping us support this tonight. I think
20:12
Speaker 10: your sister station is going to be down there tonight.
20:15
Speaker 10: Are good friend Steven Jinny with the B one hundred.
20:17
Speaker 11: You guys have been down there.
20:18
Speaker 10: We've had a we've had a great run and all
20:20
Speaker 10: the media partners have been great.
20:22
Speaker 11: I just want to.
20:22
Speaker 4: Say thanks Dave Todave Iland Showing five any Live is
20:25
Speaker 4: brought to you part by Morgan and Morgan, America's largest
20:27
Speaker 4: injury law firm. So let's talk about the season overall.
20:31
Speaker 4: I mean, uh, you know, we we did have the
20:33
Speaker 4: one I think it was just one that was canceled
20:35
Speaker 4: or postponed, is that right?
20:36
Speaker 10: Yeah, well we got we had a couple that were tricky.
20:40
Speaker 10: We got one opener in and then at lightning and
20:43
Speaker 10: one that we didn't make it all. So it was
20:44
Speaker 10: a little hectic, but we got you know, we're going
20:47
Speaker 10: to get them all in and and all. This year
20:50
Speaker 10: was six and we went with you know, the quality
20:52
Speaker 10: this year. You know, we mixed in some levees with
20:55
Speaker 10: the cycling, which was a big night. You know, we
20:58
Speaker 10: didn't do the levees to the REGDA of course because
21:00
Speaker 10: that was so huge, but we had we had a
21:02
Speaker 10: lot of mini regd is down there on Friday nights.
21:05
Speaker 10: I think they were great. We even had a Thursday
21:07
Speaker 10: night one one one uh Thursday because of the car
21:11
Speaker 10: show that came through town. So the city did some
21:13
Speaker 10: different things. But it's still it's still when I think
21:17
Speaker 10: about it, it's still live music, no charge for you
21:20
Speaker 10: to come down. It's still delicious food, it's still affordable beverages.
21:24
Speaker 10: It's still just the fellowship, the happiness, the joy. As
21:28
Speaker 10: I always say day, my favorite thing is standing on
21:30
Speaker 10: that stage and I'm trying to find people that are
21:33
Speaker 10: not having a good time or smiling on their face,
21:36
Speaker 10: and I never can. So it still is what it
21:39
Speaker 10: was intended to do. It's great fun for a great cause.
21:43
Speaker 10: We helped those five inner city charities. So I think
21:46
Speaker 10: it was a good summer. I'm already talking with the
21:49
Speaker 10: city about next summer. We'll see what happens next summer.
21:52
Speaker 10: I know we're doing it next summer. I know the
21:54
Speaker 10: city's involved with discussions right now how it's gonna look.
21:58
Speaker 10: But I know the vendors want to come back, and
22:00
Speaker 10: I know the patrons want to come down and enjoy
22:02
Speaker 10: their music. So I think it's going to continue.
22:04
Speaker 4: Well, it's a summertime tradition, you know, and you come
22:07
Speaker 4: on to talk about it, and you know it's undergone.
22:10
Speaker 4: Like everything else in life, Jimmy, you know, sometimes it
22:13
Speaker 4: has to undergo some changes here or there, but overall
22:17
Speaker 4: it's been a success. In the bottom line is it's
22:18
Speaker 4: about providing people fun, It's about providing the musicians and opportunity.
22:22
Speaker 4: But it's also about raising money for those five inner
22:25
Speaker 4: city charities that you talked about.
22:26
Speaker 10: Yeah, we've raised one hundred and twenty seven thousand dollars
22:29
Speaker 10: the last twenty one seasons for those five inner city
22:32
Speaker 10: charities and help you we need a bit to eat,
22:35
Speaker 10: the place to lay their head.
22:36
Speaker 4: At night, and the one and go ahead. I'm sorry
22:40
Speaker 4: to go ahead. Well, I was just going to say,
22:41
Speaker 4: the weather is going to be great tonight.
22:45
Speaker 10: Have you seen it?
22:45
Speaker 4: Oh yeah, it looks it looks good.
22:47
Speaker 10: I start out warm, but it's going to go down
22:49
Speaker 10: to the mid seventies and I think the humidity will
22:51
Speaker 10: be low. As a matter of fact, here's how I
22:54
Speaker 10: know the weather's going to be fine. My mom's walking
22:55
Speaker 10: over from where she lives on Choyer Streets. That's the
22:59
Speaker 10: barometer right there. So all you need to know my
23:01
Speaker 10: mother's walking over. She's eighty nine. If my mom can
23:03
Speaker 10: walk to the levee, folks, you can come to the
23:06
Speaker 10: levee tonight.
23:07
Speaker 4: So what are we going to get into next? I mean,
23:09
Speaker 4: after this, what's the next big project for us?
23:11
Speaker 10: Jimmy, Well, I'll go ahead and put a bug in
23:13
Speaker 10: your ear and I'll be in soon to talk about it.
23:15
Speaker 10: But September twentieth or twenty first, it's a big weekend
23:18
Speaker 10: in Charleston. I know there will be other things before that,
23:21
Speaker 10: like the Charleston Distance Run and some football games in
23:24
Speaker 10: high school football, but a couple of fundraising events. I
23:26
Speaker 10: just want to mention that I'll be in to talk
23:28
Speaker 10: about him. But on September twentieth, on a Saturday, it's
23:32
Speaker 10: called Mountaineers Night Out. It's gonna be at the Red
23:35
Speaker 10: Carpet Pavilion. It's gonna be for men and women, and
23:37
Speaker 10: it's gonna be just that a Mountaineer tailgate party watching
23:40
Speaker 10: the Mountaineers take on Kansas when they're out there playing
23:44
Speaker 10: the Jayhawks in Kansas, and we're gonna just watch the game,
23:47
Speaker 10: have a tailgate party, but we're gonna be raising money
23:50
Speaker 10: for the kids with cancer. The Westernian Kids Crusaders and
23:54
Speaker 10: the barbaradeat Center on the West Side. This is something
23:56
Speaker 10: that was very near and dear to Doug scaff Junior's
23:59
Speaker 10: hard and we're going to honor his legacy with this event,
24:04
Speaker 10: raise money for those kids with cancer and the Bobberdebt Center.
24:07
Speaker 10: So more to come on that, but circle your calendar folks.
24:10
Speaker 10: September the twentieth. We don't know when the event exactly
24:15
Speaker 10: will start, but it'll be two hours prior to kickoff.
24:17
Speaker 10: We're hoping to have three point thirty kickoff that day,
24:20
Speaker 10: which means the event will start at one point thirty.
24:23
Speaker 10: We have a little Facebook page, Mountaineers Night Out, go
24:26
Speaker 10: and learn more there. Always give me a call. I'm
24:29
Speaker 10: an open book five four one four seven, five six.
24:32
Speaker 10: We got tons of sponsors already lined up and we're
24:35
Speaker 10: looking for more ticket sales and five hundred dollars sponsors,
24:37
Speaker 10: So anyway that's coming. And then the next day, on
24:40
Speaker 10: September twenty first over at Slack Plaza, the third annual
24:43
Speaker 10: Leah's Legacy will happen at five o'clock down there. You're
24:48
Speaker 10: surely honored the service the master ceremonies, but our good
24:51
Speaker 10: friend would he was, will be spending some vibes there
24:54
Speaker 10: and Josh Pantry's on a post ceremony concert. We're raising
24:58
Speaker 10: money for the Leah Trickman Memorial Scholarship Fund, the little
25:02
Speaker 10: girl that was tragically killed three years ago on I
25:05
Speaker 10: seventy nine heading home from a soccer match, and we're
25:09
Speaker 10: going to raise money for her. So it's a five k,
25:11
Speaker 10: it's a two mile, it's a two mile walk and
25:13
Speaker 10: a kid's fun run. But it's just a great time
25:16
Speaker 10: with food vendors and beverages and music and a concert
25:19
Speaker 10: and raising money for that and the strict and family.
25:22
Speaker 10: So I'll be in more to talk about that, maybe
25:25
Speaker 10: have maybe have the family come in and talk about Leah.
25:28
Speaker 10: But anyway, those are just a couple of strange Dave,
25:30
Speaker 10: and I appreciate the line and the buying as always
25:33
Speaker 10: with you and our friendship, and you're always so good
25:36
Speaker 10: to me to allow me come on even when I'm traveling.
25:38
Speaker 10: I'm actually traveling up ice seventy nine now, so I'll
25:41
Speaker 10: look forward to seeing you guys this weekend. And if
25:44
Speaker 10: nothing else, brother, let me get back to my thing here.
25:47
Speaker 4: Brother, Okay, all right, I do appreciate it and we'll
25:51
Speaker 4: see you down live on the leve of tonight. Man,
25:52
Speaker 4: thanks a lot.
25:54
Speaker 10: I'll be there, bless your heart. Thanks Dave, a good one.
25:56
Speaker 4: Jim Strown And you know, whenever I say to Jim,
25:59
Speaker 4: well what's going on next now that Live on the
26:01
Speaker 4: Levies coming to an end tonight, He's always got stuff
26:04
Speaker 4: that's Leah's legacy thing. It's just gotten so huge. And
26:07
Speaker 4: I've Jim mentioned about coming on the show to talk
26:10
Speaker 4: about that, and I've had the Leah's parents on the
26:12
Speaker 4: show the last couple of years. So you got that
26:14
Speaker 4: going on. And I'm glad that they're going to continue
26:17
Speaker 4: this Mountaineers Night Out. It's going to be at the
26:19
Speaker 4: Red Carpet Pavilion. Now, you know the way the WVU
26:23
Speaker 4: schedule works, now, we don't know until about a week
26:26
Speaker 4: or so, you know, maybe two before the game what
26:29
Speaker 4: time kickoff will be. But we'll give you plenty of
26:31
Speaker 4: notice on that. And this is I'm so glad that's
26:33
Speaker 4: continuing because this was an event that was so near
26:36
Speaker 4: and dear to my good friend and yours, Doug scaff
26:40
Speaker 4: who we tragically lost early this year in an auto accident.
26:43
Speaker 4: So that's going to continue, so well, that'll be at
26:45
Speaker 4: the Red Carpet Lounge. We didn't have a text about that.
26:48
Speaker 4: Asking Jim if anything was planned while warm weather was
26:53
Speaker 4: going on for WVU football games on the boulevard of
26:55
Speaker 4: downtown outside would be awesome. I will make sure Jim
26:58
Speaker 4: sees that. Jim was on a kind of a tight
26:59
Speaker 4: schedule to get to a meeting. He was kind of
27:01
Speaker 4: hurried me up there a little bit, so I didn't
27:03
Speaker 4: get a chance to read that. One of the problems though,
27:06
Speaker 4: that you run into sometimes, and I'm not going to
27:09
Speaker 4: say this is an all case, is college athletics can
27:12
Speaker 4: be can be depending on where you put the things
27:17
Speaker 4: up on the big screen. They can be very picky
27:19
Speaker 4: for copyright purposes. And so when you have a place
27:23
Speaker 4: like the Red Carpet Lounge, and I'm just using that
27:26
Speaker 4: as an example, those folks pay all the rights to
27:28
Speaker 4: be able to broadcast whatever they want, but just having
27:30
Speaker 4: it just anywhere, you gotta be careful because and this
27:34
Speaker 4: is not a WVU thing, this is an NCAA thing.
27:36
Speaker 4: College athletics NFL is the same way, and you get
27:39
Speaker 4: a little bit to picky, you know, on where you
27:41
Speaker 4: can broadcastings. But I do. I definitely appreciate that text
27:45
Speaker 4: and make sure that Jim gets that Joe Stevens has
27:47
Speaker 4: covered up a little bit. Later on, also, we're going
27:49
Speaker 4: to talk about a big event happening to Capital Market
27:51
Speaker 4: as it pertains to Jelly's and Jams. I do want
27:54
Speaker 4: to mention, though, thank you to everybody that came out
27:56
Speaker 4: last night for the annual Paint the Capital City Green event.
27:58
Speaker 4: Marshall University Quarterback Club at Charleston held the event at
28:01
Speaker 4: the bill No Flight School up at Western Giniater National
28:05
Speaker 4: Yeger Airport, and it was completely sold out of this thing.
28:08
Speaker 4: I think officially sold out about a week or so ago,
28:11
Speaker 4: and it was just a great night, picture perfect up there.
28:14
Speaker 10: You know.
28:14
Speaker 4: I told we had some people sitting at our WVRC
28:17
Speaker 4: media table that had never had never gone to the event.
28:20
Speaker 4: Matter of fact, I don't think any that was at
28:22
Speaker 4: our table had ever gone to the event before. I said,
28:24
Speaker 4: you guys don't know what you're in for, because it's
28:27
Speaker 4: going to be a great, big party celebrating the Marshall
28:29
Speaker 4: University Thundering Herd, but also in the venue up there
28:32
Speaker 4: at the bill No Flight School, and we just had
28:34
Speaker 4: a great night weather, It was perfect, lots of great food,
28:37
Speaker 4: lots of great drinks celebrating the thundering herd. Senator Shelley
28:41
Speaker 4: Moore Capito was there trying to off the top my head.
28:44
Speaker 4: A lot of other elected officials, Mayor Amy Goodwin kick
28:46
Speaker 4: things off, Marshall, President Brad Smith, all the coaches were there,
28:49
Speaker 4: including the coach. Julie Falks track and field coach was there,
28:51
Speaker 4: and of course coach Gibson and Coach Jackson were there
28:54
Speaker 4: as well, and just a great, great night all around,
28:58
Speaker 4: and so many sponsors help make it possible raising money
29:02
Speaker 4: for the Big Green, So thank you. I got to
29:04
Speaker 4: serve as the MC last night. I got a lot
29:05
Speaker 4: of pictures posted about it over on my social media
29:08
Speaker 4: on Dave Alan Radio and Facebook, so you can go
29:09
Speaker 4: check that out. We had a great time up there
29:11
Speaker 4: last night. Looking forward to doing it again really really soon.

33:01
Speaker 4: good morning, Welcome to the show.
33:04
Speaker 11: Good morning Dave, and yes, a busy, busy Saturday in
33:08
Speaker 11: the fine metropolis of Nitro.
33:11
Speaker 4: Now, you and I both love our baseball, but you
33:14
Speaker 4: know me, football is my real passion, and I got
33:17
Speaker 4: really fired up last night going up to the Painting
33:19
Speaker 4: Capital City Green Events, sold out event from Marsha University's
33:23
Speaker 4: Big Green last night. Of course, college football really actually
33:26
Speaker 4: getting underway this weekend. There's some college action going on
33:29
Speaker 4: this weekend really begins to earn his next weekend, the
33:31
Speaker 4: pros will be here in a couple of weeks. You know,
33:33
Speaker 4: I'm all fired up about that. But you got an
33:36
Speaker 4: event going on with the mount of your legend tomorrow
33:38
Speaker 4: talk about and you got actually a couple of events
33:40
Speaker 4: talk about it.
33:42
Speaker 11: Well, yes we do. We have probably the greatest quarterback
33:47
Speaker 11: to play for WVU, and that's Major Harris number nine himself.
33:52
Speaker 11: He will be here in Nitro. Tomorrow's starting off with
33:56
Speaker 11: being the Grand Marshall and the Nitro Youth League Football
34:00
Speaker 11: League annual parade he will be serving. Major will be
34:04
Speaker 11: serving as the Grand Marshal and the parade goes starts
34:09
Speaker 11: at the Nitro Boat Ramp and then follows the backstreets
34:13
Speaker 11: up into Underwood Field at Nitro High School and then
34:17
Speaker 11: from there Major will be flipping the ceremonial first coin
34:22
Speaker 11: of the season. And the little side note on the coin,
34:26
Speaker 11: it's a commemorative coin that we've had made especially for
34:30
Speaker 11: the event. On one side is the Major's number nine
34:34
Speaker 11: jersey and then on the other side is the logo
34:38
Speaker 11: for the Nitro Youth Football League. And by the way,
34:42
Speaker 11: these coins will be set for sale at the game
34:45
Speaker 11: and also at the sports Guard show going on. I'll
34:50
Speaker 11: tell you about that in the second but it's ten
34:52
Speaker 11: dollars per coin for the commemorative coin. All the proceeds
34:55
Speaker 11: the coins. We were able to have the CVB take
35:00
Speaker 11: the coins cost and all the proceeds will be going
35:03
Speaker 11: to the Nitro Youth League. But after the flipping of
35:06
Speaker 11: the coin, and by the way, it'll be Nitro versus
35:10
Speaker 11: Winfield for the Youth football game that will be the
35:14
Speaker 11: opening game for the season. We'll be taking Major over
35:18
Speaker 11: to the high school at the Commons area for the
35:21
Speaker 11: Nitro Sports Cards Show that begins actually at ten o'clock.
35:25
Speaker 11: We'll go to four o'clock in the Commons area of
35:28
Speaker 11: Nitro High School. Major will be signing autographs around twelve
35:34
Speaker 11: thirty one o'clock until three o'clock and the money, the
35:38
Speaker 11: proceeds that he gets from the signing of the autographs,
35:42
Speaker 11: half of the proceeds will be going to the Nitro
35:46
Speaker 11: Youth League Football League. So it's a great time. Eleven
35:49
Speaker 11: o'clock the parade, twelve o'clock, around twelve o'clock the coin flip,
35:54
Speaker 11: and then we'll get Major over to the Sports Cards show.
35:58
Speaker 4: And you know the thing about it is, I think
35:59
Speaker 4: it's great Major Harris does these sorts of things. But obviously,
36:03
Speaker 4: I mean, you know, Major was in college at the
36:05
Speaker 4: same time that I was. These uh, these kids only
36:09
Speaker 4: know of the legends of Major Harris. Thankfully, a lot
36:12
Speaker 4: of that video is available on YouTube, but I'm sure
36:14
Speaker 4: there's gonna be I mean, they'll be excited to know
36:16
Speaker 4: that a mountain your legend is here. But I must
36:17
Speaker 4: say mommies and daddy's or grandparents are gonna be probably
36:20
Speaker 4: a little bit more excited about getting to meet Major Harris.
36:23
Speaker 11: Oh, without a doubt, as many as fans of we
36:27
Speaker 11: that we have of w v U football, and and
36:30
Speaker 11: to be able to meet and greet and say I
36:33
Speaker 11: met you know, Major Harris. That's gonna be a fun
36:35
Speaker 11: time and it and it's you know, not behind glass
36:38
Speaker 11: or anything like that. We're gonna be he and I
36:40
Speaker 11: are gonna be sitting at the table. It's just like
36:42
Speaker 11: what we did with George Foster with the uh, you know,
36:44
Speaker 11: the Cincinnati Reds great that came in for the opening
36:47
Speaker 11: of the Little League Baseball here in Nitro. It's it's
36:51
Speaker 11: very uh fan friendly as it may be, and it's
36:55
Speaker 11: just gonna be a good time.
36:57
Speaker 12: Dave.
36:58
Speaker 11: It's just it's it's really to see some of these
37:01
Speaker 11: kids that they they all of a sudden they realize
37:05
Speaker 11: who is with them and the smiles that come on
37:07
Speaker 11: their faces, and that's what it's all about.
37:10
Speaker 4: But Dave Allanchow and five Any Line brought to you
37:11
Speaker 4: part by Bridge Valley offering custom tailored trainings, iss last
37:15
Speaker 4: field graduates and apprenticeship for your company visit Bridge Valley
37:18
Speaker 4: dot Edu. And I can just imagine the conversations Joe
37:20
Speaker 4: that are going on with these parents and grandparents that
37:24
Speaker 4: are getting their kids aside and said, let me tell
37:26
Speaker 4: you about the legend of Major Harris.
37:30
Speaker 11: I you know, I hope, I hope a lot of
37:34
Speaker 11: the young people are going, like you said, go onto
37:36
Speaker 11: YouTube and see some of the some of the plays
37:40
Speaker 11: that he had where he should have lost twenty yards
37:43
Speaker 11: and he scored a touchdown from sixty yards out. I
37:46
Speaker 11: mean he as a as a player, you know. And
37:50
Speaker 11: we were talking the other day here in the office
37:52
Speaker 11: about what if he didn't hurt his shoulder against Nordre Dame,
37:56
Speaker 11: what could have happened. It didn't, but it will always
38:01
Speaker 11: be a what if for every WBU fan out there.
38:04
Speaker 11: And it's just gonna be fun to meet him and
38:06
Speaker 11: have him meet all the kids too, and enjoy a
38:09
Speaker 11: day with a WDU great without a doubt.
38:12
Speaker 4: Well, and I'll say this, you know, there's been a
38:14
Speaker 4: lot of great WVU teams teams over the years, and
38:17
Speaker 4: there's a lot of excitement about the Mountaineers this season
38:19
Speaker 4: with coach Rod Back and Pat White as an assistant
38:21
Speaker 4: so on, and so forth. You think about those names
38:24
Speaker 4: from a few years ago, like Pat White, Steve Slayton
38:26
Speaker 4: and all these others. But you know, I was a
38:28
Speaker 4: young man in radio when the Mouth of Eers had
38:31
Speaker 4: that magical season in nineteen eighty eight when Major was
38:35
Speaker 4: the star, and there's so many other great players on
38:37
Speaker 4: that team, and I was just beginning my broadcasting career.
38:40
Speaker 4: My Saturday afternoons were spent putting the Mouth in Eer
38:43
Speaker 4: games on the air, and you know, doing the commercial
38:45
Speaker 4: breaks and things of that nature. But I can still
38:48
Speaker 4: hear in my head the legendary Jack Fleming calling some
38:53
Speaker 4: of those some of those plays as you talked about
38:56
Speaker 4: when he should have lost twenty and he gained twenty
38:59
Speaker 4: five for Major Harris. And because I could just hear
39:02
Speaker 4: Fleming in my head saying Major, because they didn't even
39:05
Speaker 4: need to put the last name on it, it was
39:06
Speaker 4: just Major. And I know, and I've been around, I've
39:09
Speaker 4: done a lot of events with Major Harris over the years,
39:11
Speaker 4: and I can tell you he never gets tired of
39:14
Speaker 4: talking about and An's not really talking about himself, but
39:17
Speaker 4: answering questions from fans that will say, well, you know
39:20
Speaker 4: this play and trust me. I mean We love our
39:23
Speaker 4: we love our college teams in West Virginia, and I
39:26
Speaker 4: think a lot of that goes because we don't have
39:28
Speaker 4: a pro team. We all have our favorite pro teams,
39:30
Speaker 4: but we don't really have a pro team here. So
39:33
Speaker 4: Mountaineer fans, Marshall fans and the others, they're very knowledgeable
39:37
Speaker 4: and they'll bring out a specific play. And I've seen
39:39
Speaker 4: people do this with Major Harris, say do you remember
39:41
Speaker 4: this game against you know, filled end name here, and
39:44
Speaker 4: Major may not necessarily remember all the details, but by golly,
39:47
Speaker 4: the fans do. And that's that's a part of being
39:50
Speaker 4: a living in a state where we do, where everybody
39:53
Speaker 4: gets so wrapped up in Mountaineer sports and Marshall sports.
39:58
Speaker 11: And you know what with that said, you you know
40:00
Speaker 11: that a lot of folks are going to be talking
40:02
Speaker 11: to Major, But hey, I saw you when you did
40:05
Speaker 11: this against Pitt. I saw you when you did this
40:07
Speaker 11: against this team or that team. So that'll be a
40:10
Speaker 11: lot of fun to hear, especially at the sports cards
40:13
Speaker 11: show and everything. Speaking of professional team State, I will
40:16
Speaker 11: not I'd be amiss without saying, what do you think
40:21
Speaker 11: of our cowboys this year?
40:22
Speaker 4: And how far are they going to super Bowl, buddy,
40:24
Speaker 4: super Bowl.
40:26
Speaker 11: Oh God, bless you well.
40:29
Speaker 4: I mean, you know, I'm using that as a very
40:32
Speaker 4: loose term. Now, I don't know what's going to We
40:34
Speaker 4: got a new head coach, and you know, we brought
40:37
Speaker 4: in a backup quarterback for when Dak gets hurt and
40:39
Speaker 4: we thought was going to light the world on fire.
40:42
Speaker 4: And he's not done a whole lot in preseason, but
40:43
Speaker 4: it is preseason. We opened up again in two weeks,
40:47
Speaker 4: two weeks from last night in Philadelphia, the defending Super
40:50
Speaker 4: Bowl champions. So who knows what's going to happen with
40:52
Speaker 4: the Cowboys. But Hope Springs Eternal, Man, Hope Springs Eternal,
40:56
Speaker 4: give us all the details on the big event that
40:59
Speaker 4: you got tomorrow. G recap it.
41:01
Speaker 11: Okay, So the Nitro Youth League Football League, Youth Football
41:05
Speaker 11: League will be getting underway tomorrow. We'll have the parade
41:09
Speaker 11: from the area the put In area for the boat
41:15
Speaker 11: ramp area for Nitro. It'll go down Main Street, a
41:18
Speaker 11: couple side streets, end up at Underwood Field that starts
41:21
Speaker 11: at eleven o'clock. Coin flip for the first game around
41:24
Speaker 11: twelve o'clock or so. Then we're gonna get major over
41:26
Speaker 11: to the Nitro Sports Card Show which is going on
41:29
Speaker 11: in the Commons area of Nitro High School, and that
41:34
Speaker 11: the card show itself is from ten until four. Major
41:36
Speaker 11: will be there from twelve thirty one o'clock till about
41:38
Speaker 11: three o'clock or so, so sign an autograph saying hi
41:41
Speaker 11: to everybody. So it's just gonna be a fun day
41:43
Speaker 11: for everybody here in Nitrol on Saturday.

Speaker 14: hosting it and you know, bringing it back, allowing this
45:31
Speaker 14: platform to be here for the jam and jelly makers,
45:34
Speaker 14: and we're gonna we're gonna try some jams and jellies tomorrow.
45:37
Speaker 4: So it's a capital market, that capital market from.
45:39
Speaker 14: Ten am till two pm. We've got over twenty different
45:43
Speaker 14: jams and jellies to sample. We did things a little
45:46
Speaker 14: differently this year, so there's gonna be multiple different types
45:49
Speaker 14: of vessels. People are going to be trying them on.
45:50
Speaker 14: So you might see some crackers, you might see some bread,
45:53
Speaker 14: some biscuits, different types of things. But we're gonna have
45:56
Speaker 14: we have an amateur division and a commercial division, and
45:59
Speaker 14: we're gonna have a jug just panel that votes our
46:01
Speaker 14: first place prize winners. They're each going to get five
46:03
Speaker 14: hundred dollars. And then we're also going to have a
46:05
Speaker 14: People's Choice and a Wish Kid's Choice, so the public
46:08
Speaker 14: can come out, they can buy tasting tickets, try and
46:10
Speaker 14: sample some of their favorite jams and jellies, even buy
46:13
Speaker 14: a couple if they like them. And then at the
46:16
Speaker 14: very end of it, we're going to do the award
46:17
Speaker 14: ceremony and let everybody know who won.
46:19
Speaker 4: And again, this is going to be a benefit.
46:22
Speaker 3: Yes, it all goes to make a wish.
46:23
Speaker 14: So the event was originally created as a fundraiser and
46:27
Speaker 14: I always want to help out our community, especially the kiddos,
46:30
Speaker 14: as much as possible.
46:31
Speaker 4: And I'll tell you, you know you see these stories
46:35
Speaker 4: with Make a Wish around the country and they are
46:37
Speaker 4: very very touching because some of these kids that I mean,
46:40
Speaker 4: they that they reach for the stars and other ones
46:43
Speaker 4: just want just want simple things.
46:45
Speaker 3: Yeah, some of them.
46:46
Speaker 14: Stories, absolutely, some of them you know, want the grand things,
46:48
Speaker 14: and some of them just want to have a fun experience.
46:51
Speaker 14: So we actually are able to provide a great experience
46:54
Speaker 14: for some of these children. We have a Wish Kids panel,
46:56
Speaker 14: so they get to go around, taste and judge some
46:59
Speaker 14: of the gams, jellies, and then Wish Kids Choice is
47:02
Speaker 14: what's awarded for that. So very happy about the community support.
47:07
Speaker 14: Couldn't be more thankful for you know, all of the
47:09
Speaker 14: people who are participating helped sponsor, donate and everything. But yeah,
47:14
Speaker 14: we're looking for a great time. We're gonna have live
47:15
Speaker 14: music as well. We've got local West Virginia country rock
47:19
Speaker 14: artist Brandon Laxton. He's going to be playing some music
47:22
Speaker 14: for us during the event. We'll have a silent auction,
47:25
Speaker 14: we'll have some T shirts for sale, some water, and
47:28
Speaker 14: we're expecting a good turnout, so come out and see us.
47:30
Speaker 4: Now, you said there's going to be an amateur division
47:33
Speaker 4: in one for more commercial type folks. Can they still
47:35
Speaker 4: sign up for that or is it too late at
47:37
Speaker 4: this point?
47:37
Speaker 14: If you get with me today, I will allow it today,
47:40
Speaker 14: probably up until five o'clock today. If you want to
47:44
Speaker 14: hurry and scurry.
47:45
Speaker 4: What's the best way to reach you?
47:46
Speaker 14: So the best way to reach me is by email probably,
47:49
Speaker 14: which is Liz Martin LLC at gmail dot com. We
47:52
Speaker 14: also have a Facebook page that I'm monitoring pretty actively
47:55
Speaker 14: right now, so if you want to send us a message,
47:57
Speaker 14: feel free to do so. That's just twenty twenty five
47:59
Speaker 14: jam off. You can find out all sorts of information
48:01
Speaker 14: on there as well, all the details about some of
48:03
Speaker 14: the silent auction items, some of our contestants that are
48:06
Speaker 14: going to be there. Our judges panel, we do have
48:09
Speaker 14: Hannah Kleine from w HS TV. We've got Stephen Keith,
48:13
Speaker 14: the guy, the food guest, who else could you get right,
48:16
Speaker 14: He's got to be there. And then of course we've
48:18
Speaker 14: got Candice Nelson from the Capital Market. So we've got
48:21
Speaker 14: a wonderful Yeah, she's wonderful. She has been such a
48:24
Speaker 14: huge help and just helping organize and plan the event.
48:27
Speaker 14: And although you know, my business is the one who's
48:30
Speaker 14: coming and bringing this to the public. It really is
48:32
Speaker 14: a team effort, and I'm so thankful for the help
48:34
Speaker 14: and the people that have been involved.
48:36
Speaker 4: Now, as somebody that considers themselves a food guy, I
48:38
Speaker 4: think it's interesting because you know, I'm my background is
48:41
Speaker 4: a whole lot more rural than Charleston. Uh And but
48:44
Speaker 4: I can remember, you know, every year, my grandparents, my
48:47
Speaker 4: aunts and you know whatever, canning jellies.
48:50
Speaker 3: But it was it was good.
48:52
Speaker 4: But it's pretty simple, you know, it was great. It
48:54
Speaker 4: was strawberry apple, whatever the case. Maybe this has become
48:58
Speaker 4: a major deal with all these exotic flavors, not only
49:01
Speaker 4: here in apple Atcha, but all over the country.
49:03
Speaker 3: Really, yeah, there are I.
49:05
Speaker 14: Was very novice in the jam of the world of jams,
49:08
Speaker 14: if you will, before I kind of got involved in this,
49:10
Speaker 14: and I have learned so much. There are so many
49:13
Speaker 14: different flavors that I wouldn't have even fathomed. I mean,
49:16
Speaker 14: we've got an elderberry elixir that's going to be there.
49:19
Speaker 14: We've got a peach hob andara that's going to be there.
49:22
Speaker 14: We definitely have some of your wonderful basics, like your
49:25
Speaker 14: grapes and your raspberries, but we've also got like some watermelon,
49:29
Speaker 14: which is a little unique. And we've got all kinds
49:32
Speaker 14: of different flavors, so there's a there's a really great
49:35
Speaker 14: variety to try. And these people take a lot of
49:38
Speaker 14: pride in what they do. They're wonderful at what they do. So,
49:41
Speaker 14: I mean, twenty twenty three, the jams and jellies were amazing.
49:44
Speaker 14: I'm just so excited to see what this year has
49:46
Speaker 14: in store for it, how it all tastes. I didn't
49:48
Speaker 14: get to sample really any in twenty twenty three. I
49:51
Speaker 14: just heard from word of mouth, and I think I
49:52
Speaker 14: maybe tried one because I was just busy. So this
49:54
Speaker 14: year it is a priority. I will be trying those
49:57
Speaker 14: jams and jellies. I will not be walking out without
49:59
Speaker 14: a taste.
50:00
Speaker 4: Now you gotta have it. And you mentioned the peach hoabinnio.
50:02
Speaker 4: I've got my wife and I have a very good
50:03
Speaker 4: friend of ours who's originally from this area but lives
50:06
Speaker 4: in Indiana now, and anytime that she comes in to
50:09
Speaker 4: visit family, oh yeah, I get the peachab good stuff.
50:12
Speaker 4: It's good stuff. What's the most exotic jelly? You mentioned
50:15
Speaker 4: some of the elder elderberry, but even outside this realm
50:19
Speaker 4: what's some of the most exotic ones You've know some
50:22
Speaker 4: of them.
50:22
Speaker 14: That I've heard, And this is honestly from last year,
50:25
Speaker 14: which unfortunately they weren't able to They ended up not
50:28
Speaker 14: being able to compete. But we had some like onion marmalades.
50:31
Speaker 4: And I mean I'd try it.
50:33
Speaker 14: Yeah, I would absolutely try it. I would never turn
50:36
Speaker 14: it down. Like I said, We've got the elderberry elixir,
50:38
Speaker 14: which I'm really excited to try this year. I know
50:42
Speaker 14: that there were some I'm trying to think that because
50:45
Speaker 14: there's been so many flavors, they kind of all it's
50:48
Speaker 14: amazing how many flavors there really are. But yeah, there's
50:52
Speaker 14: there's wild berry mixes mixed with some pepper jellies. It's
50:55
Speaker 14: just delicious, all right.
50:56
Speaker 4: They give us, give us all the details again.
50:59
Speaker 14: Yeah, so you can find the most information on us
51:01
Speaker 14: on Facebook. It's twenty twenty five jam off real simple there.
51:05

51:08
Speaker 14: the event, either volunteer, sign up a jam and jelly,

Speaker 14: contact me directly at Liz MARTINLLC at gmail dot com,
