- 4:25Now on to sports.
- 4:28Major League Baseball is facing an unprecedented pitcher injury crisis, with top pitchers like
- 4:34Spencer Strider and Shane Bieber suffering from severe elbow issues.
- 4:40These injuries are closely linked to the pursuit of higher velocity and complex pitches, like
- 4:46the sweeper.
- 4:47Keith Meister, a top elbow surgeon and physician for the Texas Rangers, notes a surge in specific
- 4:54tear patterns due to these pitching styles.
- 4:58Strider, for example, is potentially facing his second elbow reconstruction in five years,
- 5:04highlighting a dramatic shift from the past, when one surgery was expected to last a pitcher's
- 5:10career.
- 5:11The drive for more strikeouts and better performance is pushing pitchers to their physical limits,
- 5:17leading to more frequent and severe injuries.
- 5:21Major League Baseball and the MLB Players Association are at odds over the causes, with
- 5:26debates around the impact of new rules like the pitch clock, but the underlying issue
- 5:32remains the relentless quest for greater pitch velocity and effectiveness at the cost of
- 5:37long-term health.
- 5:41In local sports, the Red Sox at home lost to the Orioles again 7-5.
- 5:47Tonight, the Sox try again in Game 3 at home against the Orioles, and the Celtics are at
- 5:55home to take on the Knicks.
- 5:59In top news, the debate on how to load a dishwasher is staring households across the U.S., with
- 6:06even British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak weighing in.
- 6:10Naina and Steven Edwards, a couple in New York, embody this domestic disagreement.
- 6:17Naina prefers a more relaxed approach, while Steven meticulously plans the dish placement
- 6:23for optimal cleanliness.
- 6:25This household dilemma extends beyond personal preference, where social media talking heads
- 6:31and experts alike are sparking discussions on the proper methods and efficiency.
- 6:36A YouGov Omnibus survey found that 65% of Americans believe there's a right and wrong
- 6:44way to load a dishwasher, highlighting the intensity of this seemingly trivial, yet universally
- 6:50relatable household debate.
- 6:54I mean, is it even a debate?
- 6:56Obviously, you should spend the extra mental time to plan out your methodology and get
- 7:01as many dishes packed safely with the optimal amount of cleanliness.
- 7:06Duh.
- 7:09In business news, combating inflation is proving to be a challenging task, akin to the difficulty
- 7:15of losing those final few pounds.
- 7:19Despite significant improvement from two years ago, when inflation peaked at 9%, it remains
- 7:25stubbornly above 3% this year.
- 7:29March saw a 3.5% increase in consumer prices from the previous year, signaling a slight
- 7:35acceleration in inflation.
- 7:38Essential expenses like rents, car insurance, and electricity are key contributors, affecting
- 7:44people's daily financial burdens.
- 7:47Additionally, rising oil prices threaten to escalate gas prices further, complicating
- 7:53efforts to reduce inflation.
- 7:55The Federal Reserve aims to lower inflation to its 2% target before considering rate cuts,
- 8:02maintaining a cautious stance despite market hopes for easing.
- 8:07This situation underscores the complex and persistent nature of inflation, posing a dilemma
- 8:12for policymakers and impacting public sentiment towards the economy.
- 8:18In crypto movement, Bitcoin is now just over $70,000.
- 8:24Ethereum is at $3,500.
- 8:27And Solana is $173.

- 9:17And now, back to the show.
- 9:21Let's talk tech.
- 9:23Starting today, internet service providers in the U.S. must display clear labels that
- 9:28provide consumers with essential information about prices, speeds, and data caps.
- 9:35This FCC mandate aims to enhance transparency, especially at the point of sale, ensuring
- 9:40that customers understand the terms of their internet service plans.
- 9:45Large providers with over 100,000 subscribers must comply immediately, while smaller providers
- 9:52have until October 10, 2024.
- 9:56The labels will detail monthly charges, one-time fees, speed and latency, data allowances,
- 10:03and any additional costs for exceeding data caps.
- 10:07This initiative, part of a broader effort to eliminate hidden fees and provide consumers
- 10:13with straightforward pricing, has been met with resistance from some internet service
- 10:18providers.
- 10:19However, major companies like Comcast, AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile are already in compliance,
- 10:27showcasing the FCC's commitment to consumer rights and the importance of transparency
- 10:33in broadband services.
- 10:35And in entertainment news, Kevin Costner expressed his willingness to return to Yellowstone for
- 10:44the final season to conclude his character's story.
- 10:48Amid rumors of his departure and potential legal action against Paramount, Costner revealed
- 10:54at CinemaCon that while he envisioned participating in seven seasons, his future on the show remains
- 11:00uncertain.
- 11:02He mentioned a desire for input on his character's fate, which is not typically allowed by the
- 11:08co-creator Taylor Sheridan.
- 11:12As production for the next part of season five is expected to start soon, time for negotiating
- 11:17Costner's return is dwindling.
- 11:20Meanwhile, Costner's film Horizon, an American saga, is set to premiere at Cannes, marking
- 11:27his return to the festival after 20 years.
- 11:31Well, all righty, folks.
- 11:33It's time for the quote of the day.
- 11:36And today, our quote comes from the command module pilot of Apollo 13, Jack Swigert.
- 11:42I'm going to get there, stir up your cryo tanks, in addition, I have a shaft and trunnion for
- 11:51looking to comment Bennett if you need it.
- 11:55Okay.
- 11:56Stand by.
- 11:57Okay, Houston, we've had a problem here.
- 11:58This is Houston.
- 11:59Say again, please.
- 12:00Houston, we've had a problem.
- 12:01We've had a main B bus undervolt.
- 12:05Roger, main B undervolt.
- 12:06Okay, stand by, 13.
- 12:07We're looking at it.
- 12:08And we had a pretty large bang associated with the caution and warning there.
- 12:14And if you ever recall, main B was the one that had a spike on it once before.
- 12:23And that's a wrap for this morning.
