- 0:13Hello and welcome to Episode 5. 48 of the all.
- 0:18Systems Go sports betting podcast powered by Rhythm.
- 0:22I am your host, Josh Applebaum. What's going on, everyone?
- 0:31Happy Monday, a new week begins. We're smack dab in the middle of
- 0:35July and welcome guys to the slowest.
- 0:38Week of the year. That's right, the least amount
- 0:41of action in the entire sports betting calendar.
- 0:44Again, we can, we can, you know, hope and pray and wait for
- 0:47football or we can try to make the most of this, this quiet
- 0:51week here because we got the Home Run Derby tonight, we got
- 0:54the All Star game tomorrow night.
- 0:56And it was kind of surprising to me.
- 0:58The All Star game I was looking at the total under 7 1/2 but
- 1:00it's actually 7 1/2 / -, 120 so a little.
- 1:04Juice to the over so I have to. Keep an eye on that.
- 1:07But we do have the Home Run Derby tonight and I do have a
- 1:09play on the Home Run Derby for you.
- 1:11So I'm going to focus on a bet that is cash for me last couple
- 1:15years. So we're going to see if we can
- 1:16continue to cash one here for tonight.
- 1:19And it doesn't matter who does it.
- 1:20It's just got to happen from someone someone's got to produce
- 1:23this, this, this bet. It doesn't matter who it is.
- 1:25So might be knowing where I'm leaning here for this one, but
- 1:28I'll talk to you about it here in a second.
- 1:31Has to do with the weather. It has to do with the market.
- 1:33And again, you know, a little bit of action on the Home Run
- 1:35Derby, putting a unit on it. See if we can go want to know
- 1:39that, of course, is the goal. But then, you know, mentioning
- 1:41how this is the quiet and, you know, most quiet and then really
- 1:45slowest and most boring week of the year.
- 1:46There's really nothing to bet on yet The All Star break again,
- 1:50you have the Derby tonight. You got the game tomorrow, but
- 1:53then Wednesday and Thursday there's no MLB whatsoever.
- 1:57Yeah, You want to dabble in WNBA again?
- 1:59I used to be a bit of a WNBA better, but, you know, kind of
- 2:02didn't have a great edge and haven't really bet on it here in
- 2:05quite a while. But I tip my cap to anyone who's
- 2:07still grinding WNBA. I know Rhythm does have some
- 2:10great WNBA models you guys can take advantage of, but really,
- 2:13we'll have a bet for today. We'll probably have a bet for
- 2:15the All Star game and then I don't know what we're going to
- 2:18do Wednesday and Thursday. Maybe that'll be just, I don't
- 2:21know, talk bankroll management concepts, or maybe we'll take it
- 2:24off, who knows. But this is a week where if you
- 2:27are on vacation or got something to do or you're too busy to
- 2:30sweat some games, that's OK. It's the.
- 2:32Slowest week of the year. And I always think of the All
- 2:35Star Break guys as smack dab middle of the summer.
- 2:38I always think about The Sandlot when the fireworks are on and,
- 2:40you know, the catcher grabs the hot dog and he's running under
- 2:44the to the game under the lights.
- 2:46But it also reminds you that once you get through the All
- 2:49Star break and get back to MLB, it really means football's right
- 2:53around the corner. So you're looking at, again,
- 2:55before you know it, we'll be back to sweating, you know, dogs
- 2:58plus 3 1/2 or, you know, whatever sharp contrarian plays
- 3:02are available to us. So really, you turn the page and
- 3:04get ready for football once the All Star break is over.
- 3:07But I don't just have one bet for tonight, guys.
- 3:09I do have a play in the Home Run Derby, and it's a little
- 3:12different this year. There's different rules, but I
- 3:14also have two awards that I want to share with you because I bet
- 3:182 MLB awards. Is it MVP?
- 3:22Is it Cy Young? Is it rookie?
- 3:23Of the year, Well, there's two of them.
- 3:25I got one for the Cy Young. Is it AL or NL?
- 3:28Stay tuned. I got one for Rookie of the Year
- 3:31Allnl. Again, you're gonna have to stay
- 3:32tuned, but as I was writing my daily article for vson.com,
- 3:36which I do everyday, I was like, OK, what am I going to write
- 3:39about? And typically what I do on the
- 3:41and I've been doing this for a while.
- 3:42I've been working at VSON since 2019, the Home Run Derby.
- 3:46It's really hard to break down where sharp money's leaning
- 3:49because some of these numbers are hard to find.
- 3:50And it just, it's a bit of a crapshoot in terms of who's
- 3:53going to win how many homers. It's just it's very difficult to
- 3:56to cash, but if you look at you know what, what you can talk
- 4:01about, we can think about is, hey, maybe there are some bets
- 4:04there in the awards market that are offering some value.
- 4:08So it's not Otani to an MVP. He's -10,000.
- 4:11No reason to bet that. That's like Mendoza going first
- 4:14overall. But a couple of these bets.
- 4:16I wrote about all of the categories for vsend.com.
- 4:19Again, you can always check out the sharp reports at Josh under
- 4:22score Insights. I tweet them every day, but I
- 4:24have a couple bets here where I was looking at, OK, you know
- 4:28who's in first, you know who's the favorite, who's the runner
- 4:30up, You know where the bet splits at.
- 4:33And then there's this one player in particular that I thought
- 4:35there was really interesting nugget that I think means he's
- 4:37hopefully going to win this thing for us.
- 4:39So one's a very short favorite number, one's a short dog
- 4:42number, but I do have two. Awards.
- 4:44Bets that I'll share with you and you can join me or not it's
- 4:47up to you and then we will have a bet here on the Home Run Derby
- 4:51here for tonight. Now looking back to the weekend
- 4:54guys hope everyone had a great weekend Nice way to little to to
- 4:57end the you know the All Star kind of go into the All Star
- 5:00break. If you read the sharp reports or
- 5:02got the best bet picks from juice reel, you were able to go
- 5:052 and one on Saturday 2:00 and 1:00 on Sunday.
- 5:07So nice little winning weekend there and I had a great weekend
- 5:10because we brought my my daughter who is 3 months old,
- 5:14almost four months old, brought her down into Boston.
- 5:17We went to the New England Aquarium.
- 5:18She went by Faneuil Hall. We had a great time.
- 5:21It was pretty hot, but that was pretty awesome.
- 5:23You know having a good dinner and watching the fireworks and
- 5:27Margo's first trip to to downtown Boston.
- 5:29That was that was a lot of fun. So hope you guys had a lot of
- 5:31fun and again, let's see if we can make the most of the slowest
- 5:34week of the year. So I want to start off with the
- 5:37Home Run Derby because again. I see every year people.
- 5:41Betting on you know who's going to win the Home Run Derby, You
- 5:44can do head to You can do, you know, over under home runs by
- 5:47each guy. I'll just tell you guys, you
- 5:50know, I used to be one of those those those young bucks who
- 5:53would bet, you know, this guy to win it, that guy to win it.
- 5:57But I learned over time that it really is a crapshoot.
- 5:59It's hard to predict. The favorite doesn't always win
- 6:01it. Sometimes it's someone you're
- 6:03not expecting. So I'm just saying to myself, I
- 6:05really don't have an edge on who's going to win it here for
- 6:07tonight. So I'm thinking, OK, what are
- 6:10what are the ways we can capitalize on this bet without
- 6:13just, you know, throwing darts and saying, oh, I need the
- 6:16action. There's the only thing on is the
- 6:17Derby. So we got a bet on the Derby.
- 6:19So I'm just going to throw a dart with with no thought
- 6:21process behind it. I know Schwarber, obviously, you
- 6:24know, huge home run hitter. He is the favorite tonight.
- 6:27The Home Run Derby is at Citizens Bank Ballpark, so it's
- 6:30his home ballpark. He's plus 270.
- 6:33Junior Caminero is second runner up, best odds plus 340, Murakami
- 6:38plus 650, Jordan Walker plus 700, Caglione plus 800, Bryce
- 6:43Harper plus 900, Ben Rice plus 950, Wilson Contreras plus 1500.
- 6:48So there's eight guys you know, you think you have a one and
- 6:50eight chance to pick who's going to win it all.
- 6:52But then think of it the other way.
- 6:53You're seven of eight chance to to not pick the right guy.
- 6:56So I'm going to bypass on who's going to win it and I'm going to
- 6:59focus on, as I mentioned before, a bet that is cash for me in the
- 7:03last couple years. And what I've been focusing on
- 7:06is the distance of the longest home run.
- 7:08And what I like to do is kind of approach this bet similar to the
- 7:13hot dog eating contest. Now, if you remember back on 4th
- 7:16of July, it feels like forever ago.
- 7:17It's only like barely a little bit more than a week ago, we
- 7:20were talking about how that under with Joey Chestnut over
- 7:22under, hot dogs kept getting juiced under.
- 7:25So it was 73 1/2, got down to 72 1/2, ended up closing at 70 1/2.
- 7:31There was great steam on the under.
- 7:33It never let up. So the market was always leaning
- 7:35liability under. He ended up with 66 hot dogs.
- 7:38So we were able to cash that bet partly just from by, you know,
- 7:42reading the market, respecting the line movement, understanding
- 7:45where the juice liability was and kind of seeing which
- 7:48direction the wind was blowing now for the longest home run
- 7:52odds, kind of looking at the same thing here.
- 7:54Now, what I like about this bet is it doesn't matter who does.
- 7:56It can be anybody. Could be Schwarber, Caminero,
- 7:59Murakami, Walker, Caglio and Harper, Ben Rice, Wilson,
- 8:02Contreras. We basically can bet on
- 8:04everybody and we just have to have.
- 8:06The over or. Under longest home run go.
- 8:10Over 480. 5 1/2. Feet.
- 8:14Now the reason why I like. This bet over 480. 5 1/2.
- 8:18Is that #1 the betting market is showing liability on the over
- 8:22now? When I woke up this morning and
- 8:23I looked at DraftKings. The over under was 480. 4 1/2 so
- 8:29again, someone's got to hit it 485 to catch that bet.
- 8:32But when I woke up. It was over 480. 4 1/2 - 120 Now
- 8:37as I'm recording the pod, right before I hit record it got
- 8:40juiced up. Over 480. 4 1/2 - 125 So the
- 8:45juice is rising on the over. Then I'm of course always trying
- 8:49to compare other books to each other.
- 8:50See if there's an outlier book. Like if you remember at the time
- 8:53for the 4th of July, we're able to get Joey Chestnut 73 1/2
- 8:57under -130 at Who's at Caesar's when everyone else was 72 and a
- 9:01half, 71 1/2 now. There isn't a huge.
- 9:04Discrepancy, but this is. What jumped out to me,
- 9:06DraftKings right now is. Over 480. 4 1/2 - 125 That is
- 9:11the lowest number on the board. Every other book.
- 9:14And I'm in Massachusetts so I have like 6 or 7 books.
- 9:17Is leaning liability over SO. DK is over 480. 4 1/2 - 125.
- 9:22Fanatics is over 480. 4 1/2 - 135.
- 9:27Caesar's is over 480. 4 1/2 - 140 BET MGM.
- 9:32Is over 485. And 1/2 -. 110 and the.
- 9:36Score is over 480. 5 1/2. -120. So every book is basically.
- 9:43You know, wind blowing, you know, lick your finger, hold it
- 9:45up in the air. The wind is blowing toward the.
- 9:48Over. Because it's all 484 1/2 juiced.
- 9:51Over or even 480. Five and a.
- 9:54Half and juiced over as well. So that's my first indicator
- 9:56here that all liability movement is on this over.
- 9:59My second reason to bet this. Over 480. 4 1/2 and actually I
- 10:04was able to use an odds boost. I was debating, you know, do I?
- 10:07Lady over 480. 4 1/2 - 125 at DraftKings.
- 10:11That is the best number. I got down on bet.
- 10:14MGM, they offered me a Home Run Derby odds boost.
- 10:17Over 480. 5 1/2. It was -110 I got it down to -1
- 10:21O 5, so I gave up a foot, but I was able to save a bunch of
- 10:25juice, like $0.20 of juice. So that's what I'm riding.
- 10:28Bet MGM with the boost. Over 480. 5 1/2. -1 O 5 again,
- 10:34we got to have somebody hit it. 486.
- 10:36Or more so, market liability. Just over try to take advantage
- 10:40if you have bet MGM of the odds boost.
- 10:42Here's my second reason why I like the over.
- 10:44We have a new format tonight. Now if you've been paying
- 10:47attention, basically the new format is there's no clock
- 10:50anymore. So if you've been watching the
- 10:52last few home run derbies, you know you would see that there be
- 10:55a time clock. I forgot what it was.
- 10:57Was it 2 minutes again, you could have as many pitches as
- 11:01you want within that 2 two-minute time frame.
- 11:03Well, that is no more. There's no more clock.
- 11:06And instead you just get the number of swings.
- 11:09So I forgot the total number of swings.
- 11:11I think it's 20 swings or something.
- 11:12I could be off. Maybe it's 30, maybe it's 25.
- 11:15I think it's around 20. But the reason why I think that
- 11:18that's a benefit to the longest home run is that it gives the
- 11:22players and the hitters more time to reload, rest, and then
- 11:26go right back at it. Because when you're with a
- 11:28clock, just psychologically as a human, the clock clocks counting
- 11:33down, you feel that anxiety of the clock counting down.
- 11:36That means you go faster when the clock is removed and you
- 11:40know, it's just pitch pitches. You can take your time, you can
- 11:43step out-of-the-box, you can take a deep breath.
- 11:46You can readjust your batting gloves.
- 11:48You can get right back in there. Take a deep breath, you know,
- 11:51power up, load up and then crush each home run.
- 11:55Now, maybe I'm over blowing this.
- 11:56Maybe maybe it doesn't have the effect that I think it does, but
- 12:00I just feel like psychologically, you know, if
- 12:02you're playing Home Run Derby with your buddies and you have a
- 12:052 minute clock. I used to do this all the time.
- 12:07We always played Wiffle ball Home Run Derby and it was in my
- 12:10front yard and we'd be hit toward the house.
- 12:11If you hit it over the house was a Homer.
- 12:13If you hit the roof, it was a triple, you know, side and
- 12:16whatever. Thankfully never broke a window.
- 12:18My dad would have killed us, but whole thought there is if you're
- 12:22in the All Star Home Run Derby, you know, and you're in a tied
- 12:26to a clock, it's just psychologically that you're
- 12:29going to have to, you know, go faster to get it, to get it all
- 12:32in it within the two minutes. Now that there's no clock again,
- 12:35I feel like that is a way to relax more, you know, and if you
- 12:39can relax more, it's almost like in baseball when there wasn't a
- 12:43pitch clock, like it took much longer, but you saw a really
- 12:46high velocity because guys could, you know, deep breath,
- 12:49load up and then really just Chuck it.
- 12:52Maybe that could benefit here. The home runs with the with the
- 12:55lack of a clock, more time to rest between pitches, more time
- 12:58to reload. Hopefully that gives your
- 13:00energy. So that's my second reason.
- 13:02So the markets juiced over no clock.
- 13:05My third angle here is the weather.
- 13:08Yes, the weather. This is a very important.
- 13:11You know, we're going to get back to betting football here
- 13:13before you know it and, you know, get back to those windy
- 13:15unders when the wind blows 10 mph more.
- 13:17The under in the NFLI think it's like 56% the last decade.
- 13:22Don't worry about that. We're not there yet.
- 13:23But if you're betting and over or you're betting you got a hit
- 13:26home run. What do you want?
- 13:27You want good weather with the wind blowing out And that's
- 13:31exactly what we have tonight. So I want to give a shout out to
- 13:33Kevin Roth. It's at Kevin Roth WX on
- 13:37Twitter. He does a great job.
- 13:38Used to be with rotor grinders. Think he's independent now or
- 13:41maybe he's created his own, his own website.
- 13:43But he had a great tweet that made me more confident to play
- 13:46this. Over for 80. 5 1/2.
- 13:48His tweet was quote, if only we knew exactly how much the
- 13:52weather matters for tonight's Home Run Derby dot dot .0.
- 13:55Wait, we do overcast. I think that's his name of his
- 13:59new site. Overcast shows some very solid
- 14:02hitting weather tonight. Enjoy.
- 14:04And he's got a little graphic here, and basically it says 8:00
- 14:07Citizens Bank Ballpark, Philadelphia, PA. 82°.
- 14:13With Six Mile per hour winds blowing out to right center.
- 14:19So versus this park, the home run percentage is 13% higher
- 14:23than other parks. It's 22% higher than all of MLB.
- 14:27So basically that's another cherry on top when you're
- 14:30building a case, you're trying to make a bet, you're not trying
- 14:32to throw a dart. We're trying to again have the
- 14:34market tell us it's liability over, you know, you know, doing
- 14:38our own handicapping. Yes, you could say lack a clock
- 14:41again, rest, reload. Hopefully you hit longer home
- 14:44runs. And then the third reason is the
- 14:46weather. Now it's not 20 mph blowing out
- 14:49to dead center, but it's a good 82°.
- 14:52I think that's a good number because number one, it's not 90,
- 14:54it's not 100. If it's really hot, then you get
- 14:56sweaty. And if you don't hit it as far,
- 14:5982° is like a perfect temperature, 6 mile per hour
- 15:02winds. It's not 10 or 20, but it's
- 15:04blowing out, blowing out to right field.
- 15:06So you got a lot of lefties here, Schwarber, Murakami,
- 15:10Caglione, Harper, Ben Rice, a lot of lefties who could really
- 15:14just crush it and, and hook it and, and pull it to right field
- 15:20and hopefully and again, or you got a couple of righties here
- 15:23like Caminero as well as Jordan Walker and Wilson Contreras who
- 15:28could also crush 1. So we have good weather, wind
- 15:31blowing out. We have liability over in the
- 15:34market and we have no clock, which hopefully means you're
- 15:37rested and reloaded and you can crush it.
- 15:39So all that combined together, I'm sweating the longest home
- 15:43run. Over 4. 85 1/2.
- 15:47Feet Again, if you want to get the best number per SE, you're
- 15:50going to pay more juice, but you get.
- 15:52Over 480. 4 1/2 - 125 at DK. I save some juice.
- 15:57I use the Bet MGM promo. I got over 480. 5 1/2.
- 16:02Down to -1 O 5 but Long story short, let's get someone hit
- 16:051486 and I was also reading this article from ESPN and I stumbled
- 16:10on an angle here. There's fielding or they were
- 16:13talking to a lot of different, you know, baseball experts at
- 16:17ESPN, and the question was who will hit the longest home run of
- 16:20the night and how far? Jeff Passan said.
- 16:22Jack Caglione. 4. 86 that would catch this by the skin of our
- 16:27our teeth. Schoenfeld, Caminero 489 Buster
- 16:32Olney, Schwarber 511 Rogers, Caglione five O 6.
- 16:38Castillo Schwarber 492. So these are the baseball
- 16:42experts. They're all saying the longest
- 16:44one will be 486 up to, you know, into the low 5 hundreds.
- 16:48We just need one of them to go 486 or more.
- 16:52That's my play for tonight. Over 480. 5 1/2. -1 O 5 now to a
- 16:57couple awards. Just want to mention this
- 16:59because, you know, again, we got a slow week and hopefully the
- 17:02beauty of playing a futures bet is that you got to have some
- 17:05patience. You got to have liquidity in the
- 17:07bankroll, but you bet it now, you cash it later.
- 17:10It's always nice. We can cash it later.
- 17:12So I wanted to just mention all these awards quickly and then
- 17:15give you 2 bets that I thought were worthy of betting.
- 17:18Let's start with the ALMVP. And all this data comes from Bet
- 17:20MGM, the odds as well as the Bet Splits leader for ALMVP, Jordan
- 17:26Alvarez. He's -160 he's leading in pretty
- 17:29much the entire Triple Crown. Have an incredible year.
- 17:32Aaron Judge was the leader for much of the year, but he got
- 17:35hurt, so he's off the board now. I'm not betting this one.
- 17:39Alvarez -160 you know, feels like he's probably going to win
- 17:42this thing. But I would respect Junior
- 17:44Caminero plus 450. He, he plays the field.
- 17:49Alvarez is just the DH. He's got great numbers and he
- 17:52plays for the team with the best record in the American League.
- 17:54So, you know, if you're looking for a maybe a quote UN quote
- 17:57value play, Caminero plus 450, you know, not a bad idea.
- 18:01You want to lay chalk with Alvarez, that's fine too.
- 18:04I really didn't want to do either.
- 18:06I didn't touch it, but here's one of the first two bets that I
- 18:09made, AL Siyoung. I got Cam Schlittler.
- 18:13I was able to find Cam Schlittler plus 1/25 at the
- 18:16score. The reason why I like
- 18:17Schlittler, it's really a two man race.
- 18:19There's no one else other than Schlittler who at Bet MGM is
- 18:23plus 1/15 and at with Bet MGM Dylan ceases plus 140.
- 18:28So you got two guys sub plus 150.
- 18:31No one else is even a + 1000 or less.
- 18:35I went and got down on Schlittler because he's got more
- 18:38wins than Cease. He's got the better ERA.
- 18:42He's second in strikeouts. Cease does have more strikeouts,
- 18:45but a lot of this has to do with the the ticket count.
- 18:48Low bets, higher dollars. Because Schlittler at Bet MGM is
- 18:51getting 8% of tickets, 19% of the money.
- 18:55You look at Cease, 6% of the tickets, 10% of the money.
- 18:59So Schultler has the better ERA, more wins.
- 19:02He's right behind him in strikeouts.
- 19:04He's got a sharper low but higher dollar split at BET MGM.
- 19:08He's made more starts, 20 versus C to 17.
- 19:11Any place for a team with a better record with the Yankees,
- 19:15Second place in the American League, second best record.
- 19:18Blue Jays fifth worst record. So if you tell me like cease
- 19:22with a little more plus money, I get it.
- 19:23They're neck and neck. But Schlittler has the way
- 19:25sharper low bets, higher dollar split and the stats are better.
- 19:29He's made more starts and he plays for a better team.
- 19:31So I took a shot on Schlittler again, shop around because at
- 19:36bed and Jimmy's plus 1/15 he is plus 1/10 at Caesars plus 1/25
- 19:42at FanDuel, plus 1/25 at the score plus 1/20 at DK plus 1/20
- 19:47at Bally bet plus 1/25 at Fanatics.
- 19:49So I bet it at the score at plus 1/25.
- 19:52So I am taking a shot on Cam Schlittler, AL Rookie of the
- 19:56year Kevin mcgonagall -250 he's a pretty big favorite here.
- 20:01He is pretty much the odds on favorite.
- 20:04Of course, next guy is Murakami. He's plus 700.
- 20:08I didn't touch this. Mcgonagall looks like he's going
- 20:10to get it. He's got the highest number of
- 20:13tickets, 25%, thirty, 2% dollars.
- 20:16Murakami, you know, he was injured, but if he really turns
- 20:19it on, maybe that gets a little closer.
- 20:20But -250 for Mcgonigal was a little bit too high for me.
- 20:24And Murakami, yeah, you know, he's had a great year.
- 20:26But, you know, we'll see what that injury, how he plays.
- 20:29So I didn't touch it. But Mcgonigal of the Tigers is
- 20:32the favorite NLMVP. It's Shohei Otani.
- 20:35He's -10,000 his, you know, I don't even have to tell you,
- 20:38just his numbers are incredible both on the mound as well as at
- 20:42bat. He's got an incredible bet split
- 20:447% bets, 40% dollars. Problem here guys is he's way
- 20:49too expensive to bet -10,000. He's going to win it.
- 20:52He was -1 O 5 to start, so maybe you just bet him, you know prior
- 20:55to opening day. That's the only chance you're
- 20:56going to get with a guy like Kotani NL Sai Young.
- 20:59I didn't play this either, but this is interesting because
- 21:01Mesirowski is -500 guys incredible.
- 21:05The area of 1.62. He's throwing the ball like 107
- 21:08mph. Bet best bet, split 9% tickets,
- 21:1220% handle. But here's the thing.
- 21:15Is there an injury concern here? Miss Zarowski is -500 but he is
- 21:20getting scratched from the All Star game and just got scratched
- 21:23from his first start after the All Star game.
- 21:25So if he's out and when you're throwing the ball 107 mph, I
- 21:29don't know if anyone's arm can, it can last that long.
- 21:32So if you're looking for a value play, Christopher Sanchez, he's
- 21:35going to start the All Star game.
- 21:37He's +700, but one guy would kind of think about is Zach
- 21:41Wheeler. He's plus 2000, but he's 1010
- 21:45and one with a 2.13 ERA. And he got really pissed off
- 21:48because he didn't make the All Star team even though he had
- 21:51great numbers. And then they said, oh, you want
- 21:53to be a replacement. He said, no, screw you.
- 21:54You didn't want to get me again. I kind of respect that.
- 21:57So is he so mad that he's going to prove everybody wrong?
- 22:01And plus 2000 again? If Mizrowski is healthy, he's
- 22:04going to win this thing. But there's a question about his
- 22:06health. Zach Wheeler.
- 22:08Not a bad dark horse play there. But here is my second bet again,
- 22:14Schlittler plus 125, Cy Young. My other bet guys NL.
- 22:18Rookie of the Year JJ. Weatherholt -155 JJ Weatherholt,
- 22:24He has got some good numbers, hitting 25913 homers, 36 RBI's.
- 22:29It's kind of a two man race. The guy closest to him would be
- 22:33Sal Stewart, the slugger first baseman of the Reds.
- 22:36He's plus 280. But what really got me in the
- 22:40other angle here is Connor Griffin, Pirates Stud shortstop.
- 22:44He had a ton of bets in dollars, 16% bets, 34% money.
- 22:48But he just got hurt placed on the 60 day DL, so he's pretty
- 22:52much done. It's really between Weather Hole
- 22:54and Sal Stewart, and here's why I got down on Weather hole -155
- 23:00Now he's -155 at Bet MGM. That's where I bet it -155 DK
- 23:05-155 fanatics. He's -160 at FanDuel on the
- 23:09score. He's -167 at Bally Bet and
- 23:12Caesars. What are you doing?
- 23:13He's -200 at Caesars. Don't bet him at Caesars, but I
- 23:17bet weatherholt -155. I can tell you the Red Sox play
- 23:21the series. I'm a Red Sox fan.
- 23:22I watch every game even though what's crazy is they're hot as
- 23:25you know what, right now they've won, what is it nine straight
- 23:28there what, 14 and 2 the last 16.
- 23:30It's unbelievable. But I do remember watching And
- 23:34the other thing is that MLBTV. So I watch if I bet on the
- 23:37Cardinals, I'm watching these games.
- 23:39This is a very, you know, basic take, but Weatherholt has
- 23:42impressed me. I've seen him make some really
- 23:44good plays in the field. He's got good numbers at the
- 23:47plate and in particular when the Red Sox played the Cardinals
- 23:51that he he killed him. He made some great, great plays
- 23:53at at the plate end in the field.
- 23:56But here's why I'm I'm betting weatherholt -155 First off -155
- 24:00it's not -250 like Mcgonigal, it's not -10,000 like Ohtani.
- 24:05It's kind of in that neighborhood of yachts minus
- 24:07money, but it's not that expensive.
- 24:09So it feels like a bettable number.
- 24:11But the reason why I'm betting Weather Hole in particular is I
- 24:14was reading an article today doing some handicapping about
- 24:17the analytics, and the analytics absolutely love Weather Hole.
- 24:21He's actually graded as the best.
- 24:24I think it is the best because he said it was better than Bobby
- 24:26Witt or one of the best fielders.
- 24:29But you know how MLB has become a nerd sport?
- 24:33It always, kind of always has just because numbers are so
- 24:35important. It's a number based sport.
- 24:37But what what's one of the most important stats or categories
- 24:42that can really influence a lot of these awards?
- 24:45It's war, WAR, war, wins above replacement.
- 24:49And did you know I was reading this article that JJ Weatherholt
- 24:53has a 3.7 WAR and not only is that really good, it's the 7th
- 24:59best war in baseball. And as I'm reading this article,
- 25:02it's like they're giving all these other stats.
- 25:04I I'll be honest with you guys, I'm 39 years old.
- 25:07I remember when it was average home runs.
- 25:10RB is again and maybe you can do run score too but now it's like.
- 25:14WZR Weighted. Plus da da da da bop it.
- 25:17But it's getting ridiculous and and I can tell I'm getting older
- 25:20because I'm getting annoyed at these young kids that love these
- 25:23crazy analytics. Again, what was wrong with home
- 25:26runs, RBIs, and an average? But anyway, all these other
- 25:30stats that I can't even tell you what they are all had
- 25:32Weatherholt by far and away not only just the best rookie, but
- 25:37also one of the best players in Major League Baseball.
- 25:40But when I read that he's got a 3.7 more 7th best in baseball, I
- 25:46don't think this guy's going to lose this award.
- 25:47Or at least I hope. I hope he doesn't.
- 25:49So I did play weatherholt -155 at Bet MGM for.
- 25:54Rookie of the Year. Along with Schlittler plus 125
- 25:58AL Cy Young at the score and lastly the over home runs
- 26:02distance 485 1/2 -. 1 O 5 boosted down at BET MGM.
- 26:07So that about does it for episode 5. 48 of the all.
