Transcript
- 0:00It's most things Kenobi and don't try at Anakin.
- 0:03We always have the high ground. Hi everyone, Welcome to another
- 0:20episode of Most Things Kenobi, a podcast about Obi Wan Kenobi and
- 0:25all things Star Wars. I'm your host, Leanne.
- 0:28And I'm your host, Lauren. This week we are discussing the
- 0:34absolutely amazing, stunning, epic, entertaining, well done.
- 0:44What other adjective can I throw in there?
- 0:46Pretty much sums it up right. Yeah.
- 0:49Revenge of the Sith battle between Anakin and Obi Wan,
- 0:53created in Clone Wars style by Hello There.
- 0:57Holy shit. Holy shit, it is so good.
- 1:02It's. So, well done.
- 1:04I expected it to be good, like all the little teasers they put
- 1:08out. I did not expect to cry like a 5
- 1:12year old at this. I and I did again.
- 1:16When I rewatched it, I cried again.
- 1:18So it's clearly very well done. I watched it multiple times and
- 1:22I got the same amount of chills at the same times that I get
- 1:28chills when I watch the live action.
- 1:32And. It's it's kind of weird because
- 1:35it's Clone Wars style, right? And they did it so well and it's
- 1:40like watching the same characters but a little bit
- 1:43different because it's the Clone Wars version and I know we when
- 1:48you look at the live action versions, whatever of Anakin and
- 1:53Obi Wan, you can connect the the dots between the Clone Wars
- 1:58animated show to the live action, right?
- 2:01But something hit different when it was Anakin, the Clone Wars
- 2:06animation, Anakin burning up in that, in that.
- 2:09Lava. Yes.
- 2:10Oh my God, it's so. It was Obi Wan Clone Wars.
- 2:14Obi Wan crying and and heavy breathing and picks up his
- 2:18lightsaber. It hit different, I'm telling
- 2:20you it. Really.
- 2:22Did I? I completely agree with you.
- 2:25It was harder to watch. It was so much more painful for
- 2:29some reason. Like you would assume human
- 2:31beings suffering would be right, you know, it hit harder.
- 2:35But I think because Clone Wars has seven seasons of them
- 2:38together. Yeah, in this way, yes.
- 2:44It was just like then to watch those characters that we've
- 2:47become so close, to watch them suffer.
- 2:50It was just harder for some reason.
- 2:53I don't know why. It was.
- 2:56It's watching the same characters, but slightly
- 2:59different. It's weird.
- 3:01Now I have a challenge for the Hello there folks.
- 3:04OK, what is that? Interspersed Clone Wars Season 7
- 3:09Ahsoka Scenes with this. I'm sure someone on YouTube has
- 3:14done it. Maybe I haven't looked.
- 3:17But if you want to completely like, just kill us, or at least
- 3:23have us pass out in in some expendable fashion, like an
- 3:28extended time, do that because. Yeah, yeah.
- 3:34Just make headstones for us ahead of time because.
- 3:37And do them in Clone Wars style. Can you imagine?
- 3:41Oh. My God, I was just expecting the
- 3:47duel. I did not expect all of the
- 3:49extras that they included, which I just fucking loved.
- 3:54Like especially the beginning where they start on Udupao.
- 3:58So good. I watched somebody do frame by
- 4:02frame and it's frame by frame. They didn't miss a beat with
- 4:06this. It is so good.
- 4:10And like they have the particulate in the air and the
- 4:13fire animation. It's so beautiful.
- 4:16And their eyes. You know how Clone Wars
- 4:19especially focuses in on the characters eyes a lot?
- 4:22We talked about a lot of emotion, even for animation is
- 4:26shown through the eyes in some way because they're fake.
- 4:30It's it's it's cartoons. But they kept that, that was
- 4:37preserved in this, and that's what I really like.
- 4:40That's what brought it home. Yeah, I think it actually added
- 4:45a little more to it, which is so weird because you would think a
- 4:48human being would bring more to it, but that there was this
- 4:53moment right at the beginning. I guess it was like after that
- 4:56introductory and now they're on Mustafar and they put Anakin in
- 4:59the same framing and all of that.
- 5:02You watch Obi Wan's eyes and you see him.
- 5:07When he says only a Sith deals in absolutes, you can see in his
- 5:10eyes. He like comes to terms with it
- 5:12and he's like, oh, this is happening and and you don't get
- 5:16that as much in the live action. For some reason, they're making,
- 5:19like really specific choices about their eyes and their
- 5:22facial expressions in the animation.
- 5:24I thought so too. I really did.
- 5:26And and that's good, because that's what we expect from Clone
- 5:29Wars and what we know from Clone Wars One through 7.
- 5:34I don't even know how to categorize this.
- 5:36Is this in a league of its own or is this like, it's so good?
- 5:40I I mean, hats off. I know.
- 5:43How long did it take them to come up with this?
- 5:45Who's the team behind it? I guess we should explain.
- 5:48They're very secretive. I I know I I kind of don't know
- 5:52how many there are. I don't need a.
- 5:55Genius. Is it multiple?
- 5:57They had like an animator and then they had sound supervisors
- 6:01and they have a team and they have thanked patrons and they
- 6:05think like Indiana University or something like that.
- 6:07At the end of their credits they have no website.
- 6:10I've reached out to them on Instagram and through e-mail,
- 6:13never heard back as we would love to have them on.
- 6:15If anyone knows them personally, let them know that we would love
- 6:18to have them on and interview them but.
- 6:21If by some chance hello there listens to this like we would
- 6:25love to have you on. You guys are just too cool.
- 6:27All of y'all too too much talent.
- 6:31I love it. It's fantastic.
- 6:33It's so cohesive like this really.
- 6:35And I think that is part of why I think it's harder to watch
- 6:40like in a good way. I I loved feeling all the pain.
- 6:44It was excellent. But I feel like the very ending
- 6:48where, you know, it's the you were the chosen one, that whole
- 6:50sequence, once they like, oh, everyone has the high ground,
- 6:53basically, yeah, it's so much harder to watch than for me than
- 6:59for the live action because it's cohesive.
- 7:02There's not this switching back and forth between live action
- 7:05and special effects. Yes, very true.
- 7:09It's animated, so it's all very cohesive, but it also is
- 7:12cohesive with Clone Wars as a whole, which we kind of talked
- 7:16about already, so it makes it. So.
- 7:18Much more painful. Yeah.
- 7:20And they even have Padme like the whole scene and it's and
- 7:25like Obi Wan's expression through that, it just it's adds
- 7:30a different layer to it. I don't know it's it was so neat
- 7:33to see because it's so we've never gotten it and it's so
- 7:38great that we got it. I know.
- 7:41But then you think about the live action and you know, I
- 7:44always have said that there's something about Hayden
- 7:47Christensen's eyes that make him like the perfect Vader, right
- 7:51when he goes evil, he has that intensity in his eyes that are
- 7:55like it's like unmatched, you know, and the desperation in
- 8:00humans eyes, the sadness and all that stuff.
- 8:04Now what we need is a live action version of him and
- 8:10Satine. When Satine dies, oh.
- 8:13My. God the live action actors to
- 8:15see if they can do The Clone Wars.
- 8:17It'll be a never ending. Like comparison show.
- 8:22We're never happy and we're never satisfied and we want
- 8:24more. I was going to say, can we place
- 8:27orders for our next Hello There Animation already?
- 8:29Yes, please. Oh my God, it's so true.
- 8:32It's so true. It's so good.
- 8:34I've seen people dabble in like the Clone Wars style sequel
- 8:38trilogy characters and I I didn't wasn't a fan of what I
- 8:41saw. I wonder if if the Hello There
- 8:43team could could do it. Of course they could.
- 8:46They did. Probably, yeah, it's.
- 8:47Flawless. I think it's it's also like kind
- 8:53of going back to the facial expressions too.
- 8:55With Obi Wan, we don't see him show any emotion like this in
- 9:00Clone Wars, like not even when Satine dies.
- 9:02It's really sad and he gets tears in his eyes and all that.
- 9:07But this is something, this is like deep anguish, like he's in
- 9:11such agony and it's just he's not even trying to hide it
- 9:16anymore. And I think that's partially
- 9:17also why it hurts so much to watch, because Clone Wars Obi
- 9:22Wan is so he plays everything so close to the vest, you know, he
- 9:26doesn't show his emotions. Yeah, So that is.
- 9:30Hard to watch in a great way like I love in.
- 9:33A great way for it. Listen, the harder it is the
- 9:36watch, the more we want it. Star Wars is pain.
- 9:41It's true. We're just so messed up.
- 9:45Something else I really loved is it wasn't completely like a shot
- 9:50for shot remake. They used a few things that were
- 9:55better for animation or like a little bit of an angle that's
- 9:58better. But then they added stuff back
- 10:00in that got cut. Like Anakin has some moves that
- 10:04are added back in and Obi Wan has some dialogue that they add
- 10:08in that I I was so happy to see it in there because we have all
- 10:12said like what a crime that we didn't get some of that Anakin
- 10:16choreography. Yeah, it's so true.
- 10:19Also, I guess I should have specified the frame for frame
- 10:22that I referenced earlier was at the end when Obi Wan saying you
- 10:26were my brother Anakin. Oh yeah, you know you were you
- 10:29were meant to bring peace, not whatever this is.
- 10:31You know the that whole spiel that was frame for frame
- 10:35perfect. Perfectly done.
- 10:36But I actually looked for the spinny lightsabers where they're
- 10:39people always make fun of it like it's pointless.
- 10:41But when you have talked about how it's like 2 swordsman kind
- 10:46of sizing up, readjusting, getting ready for the next move,
- 10:48I didn't notice that in this. I didn't see it.
- 10:51It's there, it is. It's really hard to spot it
- 10:56because there I was actually looking for the move, you know
- 10:58the Oh my God, it's so hot when Obi Wan kind of spins around and
- 11:03comes down on top of Anakin. And it was, it was like
- 11:07underplayed a little bit in the animation because all of the
- 11:10animation was so like powerful. So in the live action, I think
- 11:13it stands out more, but there's the part where Anakin like drops
- 11:18his lightsaber. It's like what Ray does.
- 11:22Yes, yes, yes. It's very good.
- 11:23I love this. I love.
- 11:25That, but I was just like. So good.
- 11:29I have to say they kept the klaxon in there.
- 11:32I I made a note. Did you I?
- 11:36Did God damn Klaxon. Klaxon makes an appearance.
- 11:42I hate it in animation and I hate it in live action.
- 11:45It sends my nerves into a tailspin.
- 11:48I'm sorry. Oh, no, it's it's one of those
- 11:51things. I actually laugh about it now
- 11:52since you and I have talked about it.
- 11:54It's no longer like scary death warning, you know?
- 11:58Yeah, I wanted to bring something up that I had like,
- 12:01never really registered in my brain before.
- 12:04And this, like, made me realize it in the moment where they're
- 12:08on top of the table and Anakin is pressing Obi Wan's light
- 12:12Saber towards his face, Like, like into his mouth.
- 12:15Basically, he's going to cut his head.
- 12:16Off every moment of it. It's so good, but we always talk
- 12:19about how terrible it is that Obi Wan has been sent to kill
- 12:24his friend and do this fight. We never talk about how terrible
- 12:28it is that Anakin is really trying to kill Obi Wan.
- 12:32Yes. He really wants his friend dead
- 12:35in this moment. Does he?
- 12:38Yeah, he's trying pretty hard. I mean, the look on his face is
- 12:41not one where there's any kind of like, inkling that his friend
- 12:44is still in there. Well, here's what I will argue.
- 12:49I think Anakin is trying to prove something.
- 12:52What? Well, it in killing Obi Wan, he
- 12:56will have proved that he's a better Jedi.
- 13:00He's he didn't need all of the lecturing from Obi Wan.
- 13:04He has a better future. You're a fool for being a Jedi
- 13:08and part of the the code in the Republic and the whole thing.
- 13:11And I feel like it's overdone on Anakin's part, because he's not.
- 13:18He's We, we, we've already discussed this in our battle
- 13:21episode. Where we talk about this is that
- 13:23Kenobi's more thoughtful and he's a better fighter and he's a
- 13:27more skilled fighter. Anika is so angry and in his
- 13:29head and he's so desperately trying to prove to himself.
- 13:35Maybe because Palpatine is not there.
- 13:37No one's there that he's trying to like in killing Obi Wan.
- 13:43He will have justified something in his convoluted brain at this
- 13:47point and I think it's the act of killing.
- 13:52This is my opinion. I know he wants Kenobi dead, but
- 13:55I think the drive behind it is yes part hate.
- 13:59I think he's more hateful after Obi Wan chops his arms off but
- 14:04and legs. But I think at that point, when
- 14:07he's fighting him, he's fighting all of the things that made him
- 14:11so pissed off about the past several years.
- 14:14Yeah, it's still sad though. It's awful that their
- 14:19relationship has gotten so bad that Anakin doesn't even think
- 14:24twice about it at this point. He just says then you're against
- 14:28me and that's that. Yeah, Boom.
- 14:30Done. Because line Line is drawn in
- 14:33the sand. Sand.
- 14:35He hates sand. Oopsie.
- 14:40It's drawn in the lava rock, we'll say.
- 14:42But it begs the question, and I know you and I have thought
- 14:46about it right, is if Ahsoka would have went instead of Obi
- 14:49Wan, what would have happened? He still fights Ahsoka in
- 14:52Rebels, but he's had time. He's had time to accumulate and
- 14:57his brain and his thinking and the hatred and the pain of the
- 15:01suit and his body and everything, and Padme.
- 15:03But if either Obi Wan and Ahsoka or just Ahsoka would have had a
- 15:08chance to talk to him. Maybe even Rex if the whole
- 15:11gang. Nobody really knew how far gone
- 15:14he was though, and so I guess it wouldn't have mattered.
- 15:18I guess I mean, it could have put Ahsoka at risk even.
- 15:22Because for sure, at that point she was still raw about the Jedi
- 15:27too kicking her. Well, they didn't kick her out.
- 15:31They invited her back so graciously after turning against
- 15:33her. Well.
- 15:34They opened the door and told her if you leave, OK.
- 15:40Yeah, so maybe she would have been more inclined to join
- 15:43Anakin, or at least understand where he was coming from.
- 15:46I don't know. That's just a thought I'm
- 15:49throwing out there. I'm not even sure if I believe
- 15:51it, but. I know there's so many
- 15:53questions. I know, I think the scene is
- 15:58particularly interesting between Obi Wan and Anakin because like
- 16:01you said, Anakin is so hot tempered.
- 16:05You keep seeing them get the better of each other and like
- 16:08overpower each other in different moments.
- 16:11And I think Anakin is too confident and that's leaving
- 16:18little weaknesses that Obi Wan takes advantage of.
- 16:21And Obi Wan is probably more emotional than usual, which
- 16:25allows Anakin to get the better of him here and there, you know,
- 16:29So it's it's kind of interesting to see these two people at their
- 16:32prime and they know each other so well and they're both kind of
- 16:36on their off foot, you know, like off kilter.
- 16:38And so they're able to kind of get the better of each other,
- 16:41but not all the way. So it's just this horrible
- 16:44constant wall that they keep coming against with a fighting
- 16:48each other. It's just it's a great scene it
- 16:51there's so much layered context to it.
- 16:54And nothing was lost in animation.
- 16:56It's so easy it it there's that possibility of losing it in an
- 17:00animation and they did not lose it.
- 17:02In fact, to your point, Anakin and Obi Wan have so many
- 17:07external things being thrown at them.
- 17:10First it's the tunnel, and then it's the the breakaway piece
- 17:13that falls and gets melted. And I don't know what the
- 17:16technical name of all this stuff is, but you know the piece that
- 17:18melts and and falls. Boop and And then the little
- 17:21Droid. They even got the little Droid
- 17:23in there, which I feel bad for him, but you know.
- 17:28What it is Lucy drops his little container and comes up out of
- 17:31the lava. He does, yes.
- 17:33Yeah, he does. It's a drop.
- 17:34It rise again. But but they didn't lose any of
- 17:39that. And I thought it was really well
- 17:40done, the coloring, like you said, they had the little pieces
- 17:44of what was floating, the particulates.
- 17:48So cool. And I love, I love that part,
- 17:52what you're talking about with the lava coming up on the thing
- 17:55and breaking it off and they they still kept the that moment
- 17:58where they clashed lightsabers and the lava sprays up behind
- 18:02this. And I was aware of this because
- 18:05we just talked about Mount Etna and how they used you.
- 18:09They used that in the background of an actual eruption.
- 18:12And then here it was like animated.
- 18:16It was well, it was well preserved.
- 18:18So good. It was so good.
- 18:20I will say too that because of the animation, I think it
- 18:23actually made the sequence less ridiculous.
- 18:27If I may say that. Don't come from me, people.
- 18:31I hear you. There's some stuff in this duel
- 18:34I will never forget. People laughing out loud in the
- 18:37theater several times during the duel and and I get it, it was
- 18:42kind of silly some of it, but in animation it makes that look
- 18:46really bad ass. Totally.
- 18:50Because again, it's more in an animated style.
- 18:54It's cohesive. Whereas you could totally tell
- 18:56they threw in some weird CGI of Anakin leaping across the room
- 19:00or whatever the fuck it was. Yeah.
- 19:02Again, it was a sign of the times.
- 19:04I always, I always try. And I guess the word is defend
- 19:10it because it was such new technology.
- 19:13We've come so far, you know. Because of it.
- 19:16It wouldn't have happened without these movies so.
- 19:19It's true. You have to give credit.
- 19:21But the scene where they put their hands together for the
- 19:24force push, the audience like burst into laughter in the
- 19:28theater I was in, and they thought I was silly.
- 19:31And I have to admit, I was one of those people.
- 19:34Oh, I was just. Like, I don't even remember when
- 19:37I was like. What are they doing?
- 19:39What is that? But now I really like it because
- 19:44I understand it more. But I like to seeing it in the
- 19:47animation because it's like you can see more of it.
- 19:51For some reason I don't know, the animation allows movement to
- 19:55stay in focus longer than live action can stay in focus.
- 19:58Very true, yeah. So you actually get to see like
- 20:01facial expressions while they move, which is a lot harder to
- 20:04achieve in live action. So.
- 20:07Yeah, I like, I like. I really appreciated that they
- 20:11stripped out some of the ridiculousness.
- 20:13They even pulled out like Vader's.
- 20:14No, I was just like, praise God. Yes, that that I was very glad
- 20:20that is one of those things that you can just you know like that
- 20:23could be left in the past. OK, it takes you out of the
- 20:27scene. It does.
- 20:28It really does. And so now that they've shown
- 20:31what it's like without it, it was so much more impactful.
- 20:34I was emotional all the way through to the end.
- 20:36There was no moment where I was like, what the fuck was that?
- 20:39You know, like. I got to enjoy the whole impact
- 20:43without no. Right.
- 20:50That can stay a meme forever. I don't care.
- 20:53Yes please. It's such a great gift to send
- 20:55to people when you need a good reaction gift.
- 20:58But. Sorry, I just did it like I'm.
- 21:03You did. You can't.
- 21:04No one saw it. It's OK.
- 21:07No one needs to see it. No one needs to hear it.
- 21:10Did you notice that Anakin's eyes got darker the further
- 21:15along we went? Yes.
- 21:17Yes, I did. I did.
- 21:19And I love that because there's no kind of, there's no real good
- 21:22way of doing that. Yeah, at least not as
- 21:26noticeable. And it's because of the
- 21:27continuity factor, the the cohesiveness of the animation
- 21:31that you can notice something like that.
- 21:33And I did, and it was Fant. It was a very nice touch.
- 21:36Fantastic. It's so smart, too, because it's
- 21:39like the more they fight, the deeper into the dark side he
- 21:41goes, So it's just more and more visible.
- 21:43And so by the end, his eyes are blood red, you know?
- 21:46Yeah, it's so good. It matches the amount of drama
- 21:52going on around them too, with the lava and the eruption and
- 21:55the, you know, they're in it. They're right in it at the end.
- 21:58You know well, Anakin's literally right in it at the
- 22:01end, but it's it's one of those things where it matches the the
- 22:07drama of it all. I just, I love that there's a
- 22:12level of literal drama of these two going at it.
- 22:16It is. It's it's literally over the top
- 22:20with the eruption when their swords clash.
- 22:25Did I just make this up, or did Anakin's lightsaber appear more
- 22:29red as time went on? Because they're both.
- 22:32Bluted, I got to check now. It was one of those things where
- 22:36I was like, oh, it's orange, oh, it's it's like turning or like
- 22:39the shading of it all. Kind of.
- 22:41I know that in the live action they're both distinctly blue
- 22:44because you have to be able to see them crawling and jumping
- 22:48and where they're at in this giant scene, but in this?
- 22:50Is like it's like. No.
- 22:52And I thought there was a tinge there that might have been
- 22:56purpose. That would be so smart.
- 22:58If they did, I want to go back and watch and look for.
- 23:00That it's towards when they're getting towards the end of the
- 23:03battle itself, when they're still fighting together.
- 23:07Anakin's lightsaber I think takes on a reddish hue.
- 23:10It's not totally red, but it's one of those things like the
- 23:13eyes it gets darker and and the lightsaber it loses more and
- 23:17more blue. Yeah.
- 23:19Which would be a great touch if it was on purpose, which of
- 23:22course everything is right in animation.
- 23:24Especially with this they could do whatever they wanted and.
- 23:28And they did. And it was fabulous.
- 23:33It's so good. It's so good.
- 23:36I noticed one moment to where Anakin uses reverse grip and he
- 23:41never ever does, even though his apprentices both use reverse
- 23:45grip and I was like Oh my God, we finally got to see it for
- 23:48like 2 seconds. Here's a question.
- 23:50Doesn't he actually use reverse grip when he's fighting a Barris
- 23:55and he has the two? That is a good question.
- 23:58I have only watched that one, so I can't say, but I wouldn't be
- 24:02surprised. Correct me if I'm wrong.
- 24:05I feel like there is a a little bit of a reverse grip in that
- 24:08because he's like surprise bitch.
- 24:10I got 22, you know, I got two Sabres as well, you know.
- 24:14But I think he does revert. But, but I did pointedly notice
- 24:19it in this scene. Yeah, I'm here for that.
- 24:22I am here as an Anakin fan. I'm here for it all day long.
- 24:26Well, I've had a theory that Ahsoka learned her reverse grip
- 24:29from Obi Wan, because you never see Anakin use it.
- 24:33Ever. Especially not before she uses
- 24:37it. But you do see Obi Wan use it.
- 24:40There's a moment in what is the episode called oh, Hunt for 0
- 24:44where he's using Quinlan's. That's right.
- 24:48And he has it in reverse grip. So he's got like 2 lightsabers,
- 24:51one in reverse grip. And I don't think he uses
- 24:54reverse grip when he does Jarki against Maul, but you see him
- 24:57using the Kenobi series quite a bit actually.
- 25:00He uses reverse script so I've I've got this little like
- 25:04personal head cannon that Ahsoka learned it from Obi Wan and not
- 25:08Anakin. But that's just my my Little
- 25:10Dream. Well, here's a question.
- 25:12What hand did it with the lightsaber 'cause I wonder if
- 25:15the metal hand can't do it. Oh, it was advanced enough to do
- 25:22in this metal hand problem is what I'm asking.
- 25:24Question. I think it was his.
- 25:27I think it was the hand that he fights with.
- 25:28But I'm not sure actually now that you say that, because now
- 25:31I'm feel like maybe Anna can use his left hand to do reverse
- 25:35grip. But.
- 25:35I'd have to. That would make more sense to me
- 25:37because there's more wrist. Yeah, Obi Wan is his left hand
- 25:42is his reverse grip hand because his right hand is his strong
- 25:46hand so he is his Ford blade in that hand and his reverse grip
- 25:49is so that like blocking side. Interesting.
- 25:52That would make sense. Yeah, I think that's how Ahsoka
- 25:55does it, too. I think your weaker arm is your
- 25:57reverse grip, but I'm not sure. I'm not a sword fighter by any
- 26:02means. I'm not any fighter.
- 26:04I hide in my house from any kind of conflict.
- 26:09That's a good point too, that maybe his mechanical hand has
- 26:13limitations. They talk about that in Wild
- 26:15Space, Leanne. How Like.
- 26:17Oh, they do. He has to learn.
- 26:20Oh. I love that.
- 26:22Like, acclimate to it? Yeah.
- 26:24And then it was like, really emotionally difficult for him.
- 26:26And Obi Wan had to, like, help him nurse him through it.
- 26:28You should read that book. Oh, I love it.
- 26:30I wouldn't. I would nurse him through it.
- 26:32Let me say this is so awful. I am the worst.
- 26:36So the voice acting too. Did you have any notes about
- 26:39that? Yeah, I mean it was very
- 26:42interesting. And also, I I do feel like that
- 26:45did Take Me Out of it a little bit, that they kept switching
- 26:47between James and Ewan. Anakin was all Matt Lanter
- 26:52except some of his screaming. That was Hayden because it's
- 26:58just so specific. It's so good though, yeah.
- 27:02But I actually, James did a an Instagram live recently and even
- 27:06he said he was like why didn't they use my version of the You
- 27:08were My brother Anakin. He's like I recorded those lines
- 27:11like why did they switch back to Ewan?
- 27:14Probably because Ewan's delivery is iconic.
- 27:18It's like an iconic piece of. It it really is though.
- 27:21It is not even just for Star Wars fans.
- 27:24Like, pretty much everybody knows that line.
- 27:27I would say both Matt and James have said that they think it's
- 27:31freaking amazing. They they loved it.
- 27:34They thought it was brilliant. I think Matt even shared on
- 27:38Twitter that it was Wizard Which.
- 27:45I mean, it is adorable wizardry in a way.
- 27:50It's like little baby Anakin, like Wizard.
- 27:54I like to that. I actually like that Obi Wan
- 27:56threw a box at Anakin and Anakin cuts it in half 'cause it's like
- 28:00how Vader throws a rock at Kenobi and he cuts it in half in
- 28:03the Kenobi series. Vader throws shit at Luke.
- 28:07Oh yeah. All the time.
- 28:10What is that, Empire Strikes Back?
- 28:12He's just throwing pieces in that room at him.
- 28:14He's just his little Willy nilly.
- 28:16What do we got? We got some crates over here.
- 28:18Here you go, Luke. I do.
- 28:20Piece of scaffolding, here you go.
- 28:22It kind of makes me laugh. It's also, it's like,
- 28:24desperately sad, but it also kind of makes me laugh.
- 28:26In the Kenobi series, when Obi Wan has gotten the better of
- 28:30Vader and he just one last time smashes a rock across the side
- 28:35of his head. It's like he's so tired he can't
- 28:38swing his light Saber anymore, so he just uses a rock to take
- 28:41out Vader. I think.
- 28:44It's really hot. I don't know why is using the
- 28:47Force so sexy. It really is we've.
- 28:49Tried. This is a question we can't
- 28:51answer. It's up there with.
- 28:53Had Qui Gon lived, would things be different?
- 28:57Had if Ahsoka wasn't this battle, would things have been
- 29:00different? And why is it so sexy when dudes
- 29:03use the force or females? I'll give you this Yeah, there's
- 29:08some sexiness with some females using the Force in Star Wars.
- 29:11I'm just saying. Oh, basically anybody.
- 29:14Anyone uses the Force, Especially when they're like
- 29:17being more controlled than somebody else.
- 29:19Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. It's.
- 29:24It's memorable for sure. Memorable.
- 29:28Whether it's animated, live action, whatever, Doesn't
- 29:32matter. How long did it take them to put
- 29:38this together? Three years, it seems like.
- 29:41Yeah, years, years and years. I mean, this is 15 minutes of
- 29:46animation. I'm assuming that this is not
- 29:49their day job. I don't know.
- 29:51But it seems like a side project, like a passion project
- 29:54to me. I mean if it.
- 29:55Isn't it Should be? Should be a day job.
- 29:57Seriously, is that good? It's possible the person who
- 30:02fixed the loop deep fake whatever they deep fake from
- 30:06Mandalorian deck. I got hired for the next season
- 30:08of Mandalorian, so this could definitely lead to jobs for them
- 30:13for sure. Yeah, and it their first trailer
- 30:16for it, at least on their YouTube page, which by the way
- 30:20is at Hello There Animation. So go over there and follow them
- 30:23if you're not already. Their first trailer, 15 Seconds,
- 30:27was three years ago. They gave an update on May 4th
- 30:31two years ago, gave another update on May 4th exactly one
- 30:35year ago, and then released this as the as of the date of this
- 30:40recording. Two weeks ago and it has 2.5
- 30:42million views in just two weeks and every single one is well
- 30:46deserved in my opinion. Yes.
- 30:49Oh my gosh. And it's it's like it was
- 30:51everywhere. It was on every single nerdy
- 30:55online magazine. I was seeing it promoted
- 30:57everywhere. I think maybe even on like
- 30:59Entertainment Weekly, possibly it was it.
- 31:03It made a huge buzz. There is no way that someone at
- 31:07Lucasfilm has not seen this. They had to have 100% and I hope
- 31:12they they're in talks with giving them some sort of
- 31:16recognition, 'cause they and hey, if they don't, they've got
- 31:19the fans, so. Oh yeah.
- 31:22Hands. You got ours.
- 31:23That's all you need. Just kidding.
- 31:27Just kidding. Well, this is clearly people who
- 31:34really love it. They're doing it because they
- 31:35love it, and I've been following them the whole time and just so
- 31:40excited to see it with no idea if it would ever be finished or
- 31:45like, you know where the project was.
- 31:47Just it would come back into my orbit every now and then.
- 31:50I'd be like, oh, did that ever come out?
- 31:52And then all of a sudden they were ready to release it.
- 31:54And it was so much better than I even thought it was going to be.
- 31:57It was worth waiting for. It was worth.
- 32:00It was so damn good. And because the video games came
- 32:05out. Oh yeah.
- 32:07The actors from Clone Wars had recorded the lines, which made
- 32:10it even more possible for them to finish this project, so it
- 32:13was pretty awesome. If you can't tell, we really
- 32:15love it and we support it and we support everyone.
- 32:19Whoever is a part of the Hello there team, we salute you.
- 32:24Yes, please. Come on our show.

- 33:00wanted. We got it.
- 33:01Thank you to the creative team behind it.
- 33:10Next week's episode is going to be two more short stories from
- 33:14the A Certain Point of View collection that was gifted to us
- 33:17by our very generous and wonderful friend and patron,
- 33:21Kenobi Wolf. And we love these short stories.
- 33:25We love investigating them and what each of us like, picked out
- 33:28and noticed and theories we haven't, so we're going to pick
- 33:32two. We don't know yet.
- 33:33We have to investigate, but we'll be back here next week
- 33:36with two more of the short stories and we'll see what we
- 33:39get into with that. So join us.
- 33:42Last week we discussed potential mistakes made by Obi Wan Kenobi
- 33:47and. Speaking of it from a certain
- 33:49point of view, Oh yeah. We got some feedback from Tara,
- 33:54she said. He had only two true mistakes in
- 33:58her opinion, putting the orders expectations of Anakin's over
- 34:02his own intuitive approach for Anakin.
- 34:04He had such empathy for Anakin but just couldn't figure out how
- 34:07to help him. But that can be a lack of
- 34:10experience and then being too attached to Anakin once he was
- 34:14knighted to acknowledge where Anakin was heading and to
- 34:17confront him over it. Yeah, I agree with both of
- 34:20those. Those are good points, I
- 34:22thought. So too, it was a great point.
- 34:24And then our dear friend Carla, who the the idea was actually
- 34:28her idea for the episode. She submitted it.
- 34:30We thought it was a great idea, she said.
- 34:32I really enjoyed your insightful opinions.
- 34:34I think you are both very creative and original.
- 34:36I still have to disagree that Rayko Hardeen's decision was in
- 34:40character, meaning that it was not in character.
- 34:43She didn't think she was in character, but I have.
- 34:45I have to admit that it works for the whole story.
- 34:48It's not that I consider that he has a cinnamon roll, I just have
- 34:50him in such high esteem that I am sure he wouldn't have allowed
- 34:54that to happen to just inflict pain on Anakin.
- 34:57Sure, yeah. I think it's true that Obi Wan
- 35:00would never have wanted to hurt Anakin.
- 35:03Well, that's why I said it had to have come from above where he
- 35:07didn't have a choice. And it was you know, if he stood
- 35:10over it like, oh, there's some good in this there.
- 35:13The end game is it's good. We're making.
- 35:16We're protecting and all this stuff, the.
- 35:18Ends justify the means. Always.
- 35:20Yeah. So listen, we all hold Obi Wan
- 35:23in high regard. Look at him.
- 35:25He's he's like the Jedi, right? And he's in the top three at
- 35:30least. But it's it's just interesting
- 35:33to look at it from a different point of view.
- 35:36But he's wonderful. Yeah.
- 35:39And I I agree. I don't.
- 35:43It came from Palpatine. Blame Palpatine.
- 35:47Seriously. Well, thank you to our dear
- 35:52listeners for responding. We appreciate you so much and
- 35:54thanks for the idea again, Carla.
