Meet Owen, the newest sea lion pup at Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium, born June 1st and now swimming with mom Eloise in the Rocky Shores exhibit — the first pup born at the zoo in 121 years. Both parents are rescues: mom found abandoned on a California beach in 2018, dad found sick and alone at another beach the same year. The zoo gave them a second chance, and now Owen’s thriving — curious, confident, and named after Owen Beach in Tacoma.
