- Lucas: Welcome back to another episode of Learn Swedish with Fexingo. I am Lucas. Luna: And I am Luna. It is so good to be here again. Lucas: We have been talking a lot about buying things lately. Luna: Right. We bought a laptop, a mattress, even a keyboard. Lucas: Yes. But today we are going to look closer at the things themselves. Luna: The materials? Like wood or metal? Lucas: Exactly. This is very important for clothes and fabrics. Luna: Oh, I know this feeling. Sometimes I buy something and it feels scratchy. Lucas: So we want to know what it is made of before we buy it. Luna: Let us learn how to ask that question first. Lucas: Here is the phrase. Listen carefully. Lucas: Av vilket material är den här? Luna: Av vilket material är den här? Lucas: Very good. It means 'What material is this one?' Luna: It sounds a bit formal. Is that okay? Lucas: It is polite. Perfect for a shop assistant. Luna: Okay. Let me try it again. Luna: Av vilket material är den här? Lucas: Perfect. Now let us imagine we are looking at a sweater. Luna: I ask the question. And the assistant answers. Lucas: Yes. The first answer is cotton. Lucas: Den är gjord av bomull. Luna: Den är gjord av bomull. Lucas: This means 'It is made of cotton.' Luna: Bomull. That sounds soft. Lucas: It is. Very comfortable. Now, what if it is wool? Luna: Is that ull? Lucas: Yes. Here is the phrase. Lucas: Den är i ull. Luna: Den är i ull. Lucas: This means 'It is in wool' or 'It is wool.' Luna: Wool can be warm. But sometimes it is itchy. Lucas: True. Some people prefer not to wear it directly on the skin. Luna: What about synthetic fabrics? Lucas: A common one is polyester. Lucas: Det är polyester. Luna: Det är polyester. Lucas: This means 'It is polyester.' Luna: I see. So if I do not like polyester, what do I say? Lucas: You can say you want something natural. Lucas: Jag vill ha något naturligt. Luna: Jag vill ha något naturligt. Lucas: This means 'I want something natural.' Luna: That is clear. Natural sounds better than plastic. Lucas: Yes. Let us practice the whole conversation now. Luna: Okay. I am holding a shirt. Luna: Av vilket material är den här? Lucas: The assistant says: Den är gjord av bomull. Luna: Good. What if she says: Den är i ull? Lucas: Then you might say: Jag vill ha något naturligt. Luna: Or if she says: Det är polyester. Lucas: You would definitely use the natural phrase. Luna: It makes sense. I feel more confident. Lucas: You are doing great. Let us repeat the key phrases one more time. Lucas: Av vilket material är den här? Luna: Av vilket material är den här? Lucas: Den är gjord av bomull. Luna: Den är gjord av bomull. Lucas: Den är i ull. Luna: Den är i ull. Lucas: Det är polyester. Luna: Det är polyester. Lucas: Jag vill ha något naturligt. Luna: Jag vill ha något naturligt. Lucas: Excellent work. You are learning quickly. Luna: Thank you, Lucas. It feels easier when we break it down. Lucas: That is the goal. Small steps make big progress. Lucas: Yes. Let us try using these phrases in a quick scene. Luna: I am in a store. I see a nice scarf. Luna: Av vilket material är den här? Lucas: The assistant looks at the tag. She says: Den är i ull. Luna: Oh, I am allergic to wool. I say: Jag vill ha något naturligt. Lucas: She nods. She brings out a silk scarf. She says: Det är polyester. Luna: Wait, silk is natural. Polyester is not. Lucas: Sometimes labels are confusing. But you know what to ask. Luna: I just check the material. Av vilket material är den här? Lucas: And then you choose what feels right. Luna: It is really helpful. I feel prepared for any shop. Lucas: Practice saying them out loud. Repeat until they feel natural. Luna: I will. Thanks for guiding me through this. Lucas: Anytime. See you next time for more Swedish. Luna: Bye for now. Hej då!
