- 0:10Speaker 1: Hi again, everybody. We welcome you into this edition of
- 0:12Speaker 1: Birds Weekly. This is a preview edition as the Philadelphia
- 0:16Speaker 1: Eagles get ready to hit the road to take on
- 0:19Speaker 1: the Vikings in Minnesota.
- 0:22Speaker 2: That man is Ray? Didn't John Derek Gunn and Ray?
- 0:24Speaker 1: This is an Eagles team that has had some extended
- 0:27Speaker 1: time off after back to back losses, back to back
- 0:31Speaker 1: unexpected losses in a lot of ways. The Vikings are
- 0:34Speaker 1: coming off of bye week, but this Eagles team has
- 0:37Speaker 1: a lot of soul searching to do, both mentally and physically.
- 0:43Speaker 1: And Ray, what do you think the mood and the
- 0:45Speaker 1: atmosphere is like in the Novercare Complex this week? Is
- 0:49Speaker 1: they get ready to take on the Vikings.
- 0:54Speaker 2: It's hard for me to read this team right now
- 0:56Speaker 2: because they just seem like strangers to me. I mean,
- 1:00Speaker 2: when you consider what you and I thought this season
- 1:04Speaker 2: was going to be at the start of it, talking
- 1:06Speaker 2: about how they were the best team in the league
- 1:09Speaker 2: and number one in the power rankings and a team
- 1:13Speaker 2: with a really good chance to repeat a Super Bowl champs,
- 1:16Speaker 2: all that stuff. What we felt like, Man, that seems
- 1:20Speaker 2: like a long time ago. That seems like and you know,
- 1:24Speaker 2: right now, I'm not sure who this. I'm not sure
- 1:27Speaker 2: who they are. And what I think is really scary
- 1:31Speaker 2: is I'm not sure they know who they are, you know,
- 1:34Speaker 2: but this, you know, this is to me, this has
- 1:37Speaker 2: the feel of and I don't want to be overly dramatic,
- 1:39Speaker 2: but to me, this has the field of a crossroads
- 1:42Speaker 2: game where coming on, okay, one loss the Denver game
- 1:47Speaker 2: was frustrating, but Denver's pretty good team. I think we
- 1:51Speaker 2: see that, and I think has a chance to be
- 1:53Speaker 2: a playoff team. In fact, I think they will be.
- 1:56Speaker 2: So Okay, you blew a two touchdown lead the fourth quarter,
- 1:59Speaker 2: that's bad, but you know, okay, Denver is pretty good.
- 2:03Speaker 2: Then what happened up up at the Meadowlands. There's no
- 2:06Speaker 2: explaining that, you know, how you go into that game
- 2:09Speaker 2: and basically don't show up against what I still think
- 2:11Speaker 2: is a pretty bad team. Okay, where do you go
- 2:16Speaker 2: from here? And I think you find out this week.
- 2:18Speaker 2: I really do. And it's it's a really, it's a really.
- 2:22Speaker 2: I think it's a really good test for them because
- 2:24Speaker 2: it's on the road. It's going to be a tough environment.
- 2:27Speaker 2: The Vikings aren't great, but they're not bad. That there
- 2:34Speaker 2: I think it's I think it's a really good test
- 2:35Speaker 2: for this team to see what they're made of, because
- 2:38Speaker 2: I think this week is going to be Yes, it's
- 2:40Speaker 2: going to be a lot of x's and o's, and
- 2:41Speaker 2: it's going to be game planning and strategy and all
- 2:44Speaker 2: the usual stuff. But I think this game has the
- 2:47Speaker 2: feel of a real gut check beyond the xs and o's.
- 2:51Speaker 2: I think this is this is the week where you
- 2:52Speaker 2: kind of if you're as good as we thought they
- 2:55Speaker 2: were going to be, this is a week that you're
- 2:57Speaker 2: going to show that. I really think it's that. I
- 2:59Speaker 2: really think it's I'm not going to say make or break.
- 3:01Speaker 2: You can't say that in week seven, but I think
- 3:03Speaker 2: this is a game that's going to tell us a
- 3:05Speaker 2: lot about what this team is and where they go
- 3:08Speaker 2: from here. I couldn't agree with you more.
- 3:10Speaker 1: Now. Their starting quarterback JJ McCarthy has been out for
- 3:13Speaker 1: a couple of weeks with the hikel Spring, and our
- 3:16Speaker 1: old friend Carson Wentz has been at the helm of
- 3:19Speaker 1: this Vikings offense, and in three games, Carson has completed
- 3:23Speaker 1: sixty nine percent of his passes, five touchdowns, two interceptions,
- 3:27Speaker 1: a ninety nine point five QB rating. Now he's been
- 3:30Speaker 1: sacked twelve times. But his first five seasons he's spent
- 3:34Speaker 1: here in Philadelphia and since then, over the last five years,
- 3:39Speaker 1: Minnesota is this fifth stop in five years. Why do
- 3:42Speaker 1: you think Carson has become such a journeyman?
- 3:44Speaker 2: Right? I good question. I mean, this is what six
- 3:51Speaker 2: teams and six years. If you can't belave at the
- 3:53Speaker 2: end of that, there's no quarterback in NFL history has
- 4:01Speaker 2: played started games six years in a row for six
- 4:04Speaker 2: different teams. Never happened before. I mean, and we've seen
- 4:07Speaker 2: journeymen come and go. Okay, we've we've all seen that
- 4:11Speaker 2: guy who just bounces around and bounces around, and Carson
- 4:16Speaker 2: has has been that guy. Uh. And there was no
- 4:19Speaker 2: expectation that he was going to play when he went
- 4:21Speaker 2: to Minnesota. I mean, they really thought it was going
- 4:23Speaker 2: to be McCarthy. But you know, he gets the ankle spring,
- 4:25Speaker 2: like you said. And now Carson's had a chance to
- 4:27Speaker 2: play and their last game, okay it's against Cleveland, but
- 4:33Speaker 2: I mean he brought them back and through the winning
- 4:35Speaker 2: touchdown pass to twenty five seconds to go. So you know,
- 4:38Speaker 2: is that has he turned a corner in his career?
- 4:41Speaker 2: I don't know, you look at his stats, the one
- 4:45Speaker 2: thing that jumps out at you, and additionally the completion percentage,
- 4:48Speaker 2: which is very high, is man, he still takes a
- 4:51Speaker 2: lot of sacks. Yeah, and so that's that's the thing.
- 4:54Speaker 2: And I think that to your point, the question you
- 4:58Speaker 2: asked is why why has he, at this point in
- 5:00Speaker 2: his career, as brilliant as he was early in his career,
- 5:04Speaker 2: become this thirty two year old journeyman quarterback. And I
- 5:09Speaker 2: think the feeling around the league is that he other
- 5:12Speaker 2: teams picked him up thinking they could resurrect him and
- 5:14Speaker 2: bring him back to what he was, and after a
- 5:17Speaker 2: year of working with him, just said, no, it's not
- 5:19Speaker 2: there anymore. And I think it's people just don't believe
- 5:22Speaker 2: in him because I think largely because they wonder if
- 5:24Speaker 2: he believes in himself right now. But to try and
- 5:29Speaker 2: turn his career around, he needed an opportunity, and which
- 5:32Speaker 2: kind of meant he needed somebody to get hurt ahead
- 5:35Speaker 2: of him to give him that chance. And he's got
- 5:38Speaker 2: it now, and you know, we still don't know how
- 5:42Speaker 2: it's going to turn out. I mean, there's stuff I'm
- 5:43Speaker 2: reading out of Minnesota suggests that McCarthy's back practicing, and
- 5:49Speaker 2: I feel like he has a chance to play this week.
- 5:53Speaker 2: Not for sure the Carson's going to play, but if
- 5:56Speaker 2: it turns out that way, and it's possible that the
- 5:59Speaker 2: Eagle come to this big, big game to try and
- 6:02Speaker 2: get their season back on track, and who's going to
- 6:05Speaker 2: be looking at him across the line of scrimmage with
- 6:06Speaker 2: their old friend, Carson Wentz. I mean, this is like
- 6:09Speaker 2: a screenplay that was written by somebody, isn't it. I mean, yeah,
- 6:13Speaker 2: right now, we don't know how that all worked, how
- 6:17Speaker 2: that's going to work out, But you know, this was
- 6:21Speaker 2: going to be a big game anyway with a million storylines.
- 6:24Speaker 2: But if Carson Wentz is under center on Sunday, that'll
- 6:27Speaker 2: be the one that everybody's talking about.
- 6:29Speaker 3: Hey, you know that one guy in the group chat
- 6:31Speaker 3: who hit a five leg parlay week one and he
- 6:34Speaker 3: wouldn't shut up about it for the rest of the season.
- 6:37Speaker 3: Sounds like kaplan, right, Yeah, Yeah, it could be him,
- 6:39Speaker 3: It could be you, and we would all want to

- 9:01Speaker 1: You know Back earlier this year, someone asked Carson, if
- 9:05Speaker 1: you could trade places with anybody you wanted to for
- 9:08Speaker 1: one day, who would it be. He paused for a moment,
- 9:12Speaker 1: and then he said, emphatically, Nick Foles. He said it
- 9:16Speaker 1: would have been cool to finish that season in twenty
- 9:18Speaker 1: seventeen and win that Super Bowl with his friends and
- 9:23Speaker 1: his teammates. He also added that, you know, but it
- 9:25Speaker 1: was still it was still the special moment for this organization,
- 9:29Speaker 1: you know. You know, he was having an MVP type season.
- 9:33Speaker 1: He tears his ACL in Week fourteen against the Rams,
- 9:35Speaker 1: and the rest is history. Ray, That's got to be
- 9:39Speaker 1: a real burden in some ways for a professional athlete
- 9:42Speaker 1: to have that type of season and all of a
- 9:44Speaker 1: sudden it just comes crashing down and he has to
- 9:47Speaker 1: just sit there and watch his teammates achieve the highest
- 9:52Speaker 1: possible achievement you can achieve playing professional football.
- 9:57Speaker 2: Absolutely, absolutely, and I think, you know, I think that
- 10:04Speaker 2: was it. I don't think he's ever recovered from that,
- 10:07Speaker 2: you know. And if you if you remember what the
- 10:11Speaker 2: feeling in the city was the morning after that Rams
- 10:16Speaker 2: game when he suffered the knee injury and it became
- 10:20Speaker 2: obvious that it was really bad and he's going to
- 10:23Speaker 2: have to undergo surgery and he was done for the year.
- 10:26Speaker 2: The feeling of gloom that settled over the city here
- 10:31Speaker 2: and the you know, the oh woe is us? Feeling
- 10:35Speaker 2: that you know, we finally were on our way to
- 10:37Speaker 2: the super Bowl and our MVP quarterback goes down and
- 10:42Speaker 2: now we have no chance. And as it turns out,
- 10:46Speaker 2: Nick Foles comes in and wins you the super Bowl
- 10:48Speaker 2: and Carson Wentz has to stand on the sideline and
- 10:51Speaker 2: watch it all happen. Yeah, I just think that was
- 10:55Speaker 2: devastating for him. And you know, then he comes back
- 10:59Speaker 2: the next year, rush back probably's on the field before
- 11:01Speaker 2: he's ready to play, plays poorly. Then all of a sudden,
- 11:05Speaker 2: the fans are clamoring for Nick Foles to come back.
- 11:08Speaker 2: And then Nick comes back and leads you back to
- 11:11Speaker 2: the playoffs again, and then it just becomes this whole
- 11:15Speaker 2: quarterback drama that I mean, it took. It took Carson
- 11:20Speaker 2: Wentz's career down, and you know when you when you
- 11:24Speaker 2: think about it, and this is something to you and
- 11:26Speaker 2: I talked about before. It is the history of this
- 11:30Speaker 2: Eagles team. The year after super Bowls, it's always a struggle.
- 11:35Speaker 2: I mean, going back to the for Meal team in
- 11:37Speaker 2: eighty one, then Andy's team, you know, when you go
- 11:41Speaker 2: you have the too thing that happens the next year,
- 11:44Speaker 2: then there's this one where you wind up the year
- 11:47Speaker 2: after you win the Super Bowl, you wind up with
- 11:49Speaker 2: a quarterback controversy, and then Nick after his one a
- 11:53Speaker 2: couple of years ago, you come back the next year
- 11:55Speaker 2: go from ten to one to losing six out of seven.
- 11:59Speaker 2: Each of those year years was a very troubled, drama filled,
- 12:04Speaker 2: ultimately unhappy year, you know, And that was one of
- 12:08Speaker 2: the things I worried about coming into this year. Could
- 12:10Speaker 2: they just break that pattern? Yeah, you know, come back
- 12:13Speaker 2: and be the same team that they were the year before. Uh,
- 12:16Speaker 2: And to this point they have it. I mean, we've
- 12:19Speaker 2: we certainly got the drama. I mean that part of
- 12:22Speaker 2: it is consistent. We certainly have the drama, maybe even
- 12:25Speaker 2: more than we had in the other years. The question
- 12:27Speaker 2: is now those teams weren't able to deal with it.
- 12:29Speaker 2: Now we get to find out if this team can.
- 12:33Speaker 1: This Vikings offense is not as has not been as
- 12:36Speaker 1: prolific as we've grown accustomed to seeing in recent years.
- 12:39Speaker 1: I mean, right now they're only averaging three hundred and
- 12:42Speaker 1: five yards a game, but they do still have two
- 12:45Speaker 1: stellar pass catchers and Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison, and
- 12:49Speaker 1: you know, we're still waiting to find out just how
- 12:51Speaker 1: bad that hamstring injury is to Quinna and Mitchell in
- 12:54Speaker 1: the ray of if he can't go, there's a good
- 12:56Speaker 1: possibility we're looking at Dorri Jackson and Kiely Ringo, and
- 13:01Speaker 1: especially in the Vikings hostile environment, that's not a good thing. Ray,
- 13:06Speaker 1: And we got to keep our fingers crossed in somehow,
- 13:08Speaker 1: some way the miracle of modern medicine and technology can
- 13:12Speaker 1: get Quinjo back in that field in a hurry exactly.
- 13:15Speaker 2: And you know, there there are some things that that
- 13:19Speaker 2: a player can you can kind of hurry him back
- 13:22Speaker 2: from if you if you desperately need him. Yeah, but
- 13:25Speaker 2: a cornerback with a bad hamstring isn't one of them.
- 13:29Speaker 2: I mean, that's one of those things. If he's not
- 13:31Speaker 2: ready to go, he can't go. I mean, you can't
- 13:33Speaker 2: put him out there unless he's really ready to play.
- 13:37Speaker 2: And you're right, I mean, if they Jefferson to me
- 13:40Speaker 2: is still one of the top five receivers in the
- 13:43Speaker 2: league without doubt, and Adison's not bad. If they go
- 13:47Speaker 2: into this game and they don't have Quinnon Mitchell and
- 13:50Speaker 2: they got to play with Jackson Ringo at the corners, man,
- 13:55Speaker 2: I mean, it doesn't matter. It almost almost doesn't matter
- 13:57Speaker 2: if it's going to be McCarthy or Wentz, I mean,
- 13:59Speaker 2: either quarter, it's going to be like seven on seven day.
- 14:02Speaker 2: I mean, they could just they're just gonna light it
- 14:04Speaker 2: up throwing the ball. If it really this is one
- 14:07Speaker 2: of the things that I'm kind of curious about there,
- 14:10Speaker 2: is if it really becomes obvious to the coaches and
- 14:13Speaker 2: the trainers that by Thursday Wednesday, Thursday that Mitchell just
- 14:18Speaker 2: won't go. They he can't be ready. Okay, now what
- 14:21Speaker 2: do you do? Do you really go into the game
- 14:23Speaker 2: with Jackson and Ringo at the corners or is this
- 14:26Speaker 2: the week you finally just bite the bullet and put
- 14:28Speaker 2: Cooper Dejeene out of corner and make him one of
- 14:32Speaker 2: the corners and then you just try and figure it
- 14:34Speaker 2: out in this lot. But if it comes to that,
- 14:38Speaker 2: you know, I you know, to me, that's the veter alternative.
- 14:41Speaker 2: I would sooner take my chances with the Gene out
- 14:43Speaker 2: there than I would either of the other two guys,
- 14:46Speaker 2: because we're seeing what the other two guys offer, and
- 14:50Speaker 2: it's not it would in my view, it would not
- 14:52Speaker 2: be good enough to hold up against these two receivers.
- 14:55Speaker 1: Yeah, I look at this Vikings defense right, and they
- 14:57Speaker 1: run a base three four defense man got some beef
- 15:00Speaker 1: in the trenches. They got Jonathan Allen who's six three
- 15:03Speaker 1: three hundred, Jalen Redmond sixty three three hundred, and Javon
- 15:07Speaker 1: Hargrave sixty two three oh six. We've documented the Eagles
- 15:12Speaker 1: are running problems and Saquan's inability to find the holes.
- 15:16Speaker 1: This could be another tough sledding because Brian Brian Flores
- 15:20Speaker 1: defense does not give up much on the ground.
- 15:24Speaker 2: Yeah, although they have been teams have been running on
- 15:28Speaker 2: them more more effectively than you would think. I mean
- 15:32Speaker 2: there the last time I looked, they were like twenty
- 15:34Speaker 2: second against the run, given up four and a half
- 15:37Speaker 2: yards of carry, which I mean, you and I both
- 15:40Speaker 2: know they're better than that, and I would expect them
- 15:43Speaker 2: to be a little bit of a sterner challenge. Their
- 15:46Speaker 2: defense has however, been very good against the past, They've
- 15:49Speaker 2: been very tough to throw against. But right now, if
- 15:53Speaker 2: you just went by the stats, you would say, well,
- 15:58Speaker 2: the Eagles have a much better chance running the ball
- 16:01Speaker 2: in this game, and under ordinary circumstances, given what we
- 16:05Speaker 2: know about the Eagles personnel, I would probably say, yeah,
- 16:07Speaker 2: that's true. But from what we've seen of the running
- 16:10Speaker 2: running attack to this point, no guarantee at all. I mean,
- 16:14Speaker 2: you go back to I mean a couple of stats
- 16:17Speaker 2: on this Eagles team, and there aren't many good ones,
- 16:19Speaker 2: but a couple jump out as particularly bad ones. And
- 16:23Speaker 2: one of them is they have the most negative runs
- 16:25Speaker 2: of any team in the league in terms of not
- 16:27Speaker 2: getting back line of scrimmage, and who would have guessed
- 16:30Speaker 2: that coming into the season. And the other part is
- 16:33Speaker 2: they're three and outs. I mean, I mean, they're if
- 16:36Speaker 2: they're not leading the league, they're right at the top
- 16:37Speaker 2: of the league in being three and out, which I
- 16:40Speaker 2: mean it speaks to the offense and their inability to
- 16:43Speaker 2: sustain and convert on third down, but it also it
- 16:47Speaker 2: also has an effect on your defense if you're going
- 16:50Speaker 2: three and out, three and out, three and out, which
- 16:52Speaker 2: the Eagles have done in the second half of a
- 16:54Speaker 2: lot of games. That's one of the reasons why a
- 16:57Speaker 2: defense that right now is a little short on players
- 17:00Speaker 2: doesn't have a lot of depth. That's why that team
- 17:02Speaker 2: kind of melts down in the fourth quarter. So you know,
- 17:04Speaker 2: all of that stuff works together. So coming into this game,
- 17:09Speaker 2: you know, I would expect the Eagles to try and
- 17:10Speaker 2: get the running game going, because the stats would indicate
- 17:13Speaker 2: that that's that's been an issue with the vikings. But
- 17:16Speaker 2: do I have a lot of confidence that they can
- 17:18Speaker 2: make that work. I'd like to say yes, but I
- 17:21Speaker 2: can't do that.
- 17:22Speaker 3: Sports are all about competition. Every snap, every possession, every
- 17:27Speaker 3: clutch moment matters. That same energy is what one v
- 17:30Speaker 3: one me brings to video games. Every single day, you
- 17:34Speaker 3: can watch in stake on matchups in men, NBA two,

- 19:28Speaker 1: You know you were just talking about how the Vikings
- 19:31Speaker 1: have been really good in past coverage. And one reason
- 19:34Speaker 1: why is former Eagle Isaiah Rodgers. And I still can't
- 19:37Speaker 1: believe that how he couldn't find a way to pay
- 19:41Speaker 1: him a ten million to keep him here. I mean
- 19:42Speaker 1: he's already had, you know, one interception return for a touchdown,
- 19:46Speaker 1: a fumble recovery return for a touchdown, and rate. You know,
- 19:50Speaker 1: I just wish he was still here because I think
- 19:53Speaker 1: he would have solved the other half of the quarterback
- 19:55Speaker 1: problems here.
- 19:56Speaker 2: You you would certainly be better off. And that was, yeah,
- 19:59Speaker 2: the research guys coming off the Super Bowl that you
- 20:03Speaker 2: knew you just weren't going to be able to sign.
- 20:05Speaker 2: I mean you'd like to keep them, but just the
- 20:08Speaker 2: the economics of it, you knew, you know, it was
- 20:11Speaker 2: going to be really hard to keep mill Williams, you
- 20:13Speaker 2: knew it was going to be really hard to keep Sweat.
- 20:15Speaker 2: I mean, there were certain guys that you knew were
- 20:17Speaker 2: going to get offer from other teams that you just
- 20:20Speaker 2: weren't going to be able to match. And Okay, I
- 20:26Speaker 2: get that part of it, but the guy like Isaiah Rogers, really,
- 20:30Speaker 2: I mean, if you really wanted to keep them, you
- 20:32Speaker 2: could have kept them, but it was just one of
- 20:34Speaker 2: those night. He got a good offer, and you know,
- 20:36Speaker 2: it wasn't over the moon money. I mean, it wasn't
- 20:39Speaker 2: for Tan money, but it was more than we're willing
- 20:41Speaker 2: to spend. I don't know. I mean, I when I
- 20:44Speaker 2: saw all these guys heading out the door, some of them,
- 20:46Speaker 2: I kind of figured that was coming. Rogers one was
- 20:49Speaker 2: one that I thought. I don't think I'd let that happen,
- 20:54Speaker 2: because you knew you were losing Sleigh. You knew you
- 20:57Speaker 2: were going to move on from Sleigh. That was a given.
- 21:00Speaker 2: So I would have kept Rogers. I mean, to me,
- 21:03Speaker 2: he would be He would have been a much safer
- 21:05Speaker 2: bet than than Ringo, who at that point was sort
- 21:09Speaker 2: of an unknown and then having to go shopping for,
- 21:13Speaker 2: you know, a guy off the street, which is kind
- 21:15Speaker 2: of what Jackson was. And yeah, Rogers, Rogers is going
- 21:18Speaker 2: to Minnesota and played very, very well. And right now,
- 21:22Speaker 2: you know, one of the things when I'm looking at
- 21:24Speaker 2: this team, and you know, we you and I both
- 21:26Speaker 2: said at the beginning of the year, they're best team
- 21:28Speaker 2: in football, defending champs, all that stuff, you know, and
- 21:34Speaker 2: we said, you know, every year, you know there's going
- 21:36Speaker 2: to be losses from a super Bowl team you're going
- 21:38Speaker 2: to You can't keep all the guys, and you know that.
- 21:40Speaker 2: But when you look back at all the guys that
- 21:43Speaker 2: are gone, uh, and now all the guys that are hurt,
- 21:47Speaker 2: And then you asked the question on the other side
- 21:50Speaker 2: of it, well, okay, that's what we lost. Now who
- 21:53Speaker 2: do we who have we brought in this year to
- 21:57Speaker 2: play in their place? Sure? I mean, let's try and
- 22:00Speaker 2: count up how many really good additions you've made to
- 22:05Speaker 2: this roster, guys that have come in. And you say, yeah,
- 22:07Speaker 2: good player. I come down on one, John Campbell, Yeah, yep.
- 22:12Speaker 2: And you think about all the guys you lost, all
- 22:16Speaker 2: the guys that are gone, and say, okay, but look
- 22:19Speaker 2: who we brought in. Okay, look who we brought in.
- 22:23Speaker 2: How many of the guys that you brought in, and
- 22:25Speaker 2: you brought in a bunch of them, how many of
- 22:26Speaker 2: them are really helping you right now? Johd Campbell. I mean,
- 22:30Speaker 2: so we keep thinking this is a great team, is
- 22:33Speaker 2: a really good team. They're the champs. Look what they
- 22:35Speaker 2: did in February. But compare that team that beat the
- 22:39Speaker 2: Chiefs with the team you're lining up with right now.
- 22:42Speaker 2: Big difference.
- 22:44Speaker 1: Wow, does Vic Fangio blitz more against whether it's McCarthy
- 22:51Speaker 1: or WinCE as he did earlier this year's Surprises when
- 22:54Speaker 1: he blitzed, I believe it was almost forty three percent
- 22:57Speaker 1: of the time in one game. Or does he really
- 23:00Speaker 1: on what has been in in the up four men
- 23:02Speaker 1: rush and drop more people back in coverage to counter
- 23:05Speaker 1: that Vikings quick passing game, especially to help out the
- 23:09Speaker 1: guys in the back end who have not really helped
- 23:11Speaker 1: out this defense. I'm just curious to see which way
- 23:14Speaker 1: Vic Fangio goes against whoever's quarterback.
- 23:18Speaker 2: In the Vikings. Yeah, just guessing, and you know Vic's
- 23:22Speaker 2: not going to tell you. Yeah, I think I think
- 23:26Speaker 2: you're going to be blitzing. And I know that's not
- 23:28Speaker 2: his preferred way of playing, but I think right now,
- 23:32Speaker 2: given the way your team is set up, given the
- 23:35Speaker 2: issues you have on the back end, uh and the
- 23:38Speaker 2: fact that you're not getting a whole pack of a
- 23:40Speaker 2: lot of pass rush out of your edge guys, I think, yeah,
- 23:43Speaker 2: I think he's going to be bringing the pressure. Whether
- 23:46Speaker 2: it's whether it's McCarthy or whether it's Wins, I think
- 23:48Speaker 2: that's the way to go. First of all, McCarthy's young
- 23:51Speaker 2: quarterback who you know is quite his ability to deal
- 23:55Speaker 2: with the blitz of some questionable Carson. Even though Carson
- 23:58Speaker 2: has been around, he has problem with it too. His
- 24:01Speaker 2: sack total will tell you that. Yeah. To me, I
- 24:03Speaker 2: think I think Vic's going to have to come out
- 24:05Speaker 2: here and call a really really aggressive game and try
- 24:08Speaker 2: and force some big plays, takeaways, that kind of thing,
- 24:11Speaker 2: to try and generate some momentum for Frankly, for an offense,
- 24:14Speaker 2: it's kind of suck in the mud.
- 24:17Speaker 1: All right, which way you Lanen, who you picking and
- 24:19Speaker 1: why I was?
- 24:24Speaker 2: I was afraid we were going to get to this point. Uh,
- 24:31Speaker 2: you know, I'm gonna ride with the Eagles for another week.
- 24:33Speaker 2: But I do I do think they understand the gravity
- 24:37Speaker 2: of the situation. Uh, And I think they understand that
- 24:42Speaker 2: they're at a point now where they need to they
- 24:44Speaker 2: really need to come out and play well in this
- 24:46Speaker 2: game and get their season back on track. If if
- 24:49Speaker 2: they lose this one, then that's three losses in a row,
- 24:53Speaker 2: and then I think the sense of crisis will only increase.
- 24:58Speaker 2: So I think even though they're going to talk about
- 25:01Speaker 2: and nobody wants to call anything a must win right
- 25:04Speaker 2: at this point in the season. Whenever people ask me
- 25:07Speaker 2: about must wins, I'm always I always think back to
- 25:12Speaker 2: the Marvel Levy once. My answer Mark Marv Levy, is
- 25:17Speaker 2: this a must win? And Marv said, now, the only
- 25:20Speaker 2: must win was World War Two. I try to I
- 25:23Speaker 2: try to take that approach to ite, but within the
- 25:27Speaker 2: confines of a regular season, and given the stakes, this
- 25:31Speaker 2: is pretty close to one must win, and I think
- 25:33Speaker 2: I think the Eagles will find a way to get it.
- 25:35Speaker 2: You got a score. I don't think you're gonna score
- 25:40Speaker 2: a ton of points. I'll probably say something like twenty
- 25:46Speaker 2: to seventeen.
- 25:47Speaker 1: Ooh, you're right there where I am. I'm thinking twenty
- 25:51Speaker 1: three twenty a very shaky Eagles win. You know, I
- 26:00Speaker 1: don't know what this team And to reiterate with something
- 26:02Speaker 1: you said off the top of this podcast, I don't
- 26:04Speaker 1: know what this team is. I don't know who this
- 26:06Speaker 1: team is. I know they have the capability, they haven't
- 26:09Speaker 1: shown it the last couple of games, and boy, they've
- 26:11Speaker 1: been very fortunate over the course of the season to
- 26:14Speaker 1: be sitting here at four and two in a lot
- 26:15Speaker 1: of ways.
- 26:16Speaker 2: But I'm gonna go.
- 26:17Speaker 1: Twenty three twenty Eagles getting an all important w on
- 26:21Speaker 1: the road to break this two game losing streak. So
- 26:24Speaker 1: we sit here anxiously waiting with baited breath to find
- 26:28Speaker 1: out what happens this coming Sunday, and of course Ray
- 26:31Speaker 1: and I will be back here next week to break
- 26:33Speaker 1: it all down on another edition of Birds Weekly. So
- 26:36Speaker 1: until then, for my good friend Raydner, I'm Derek Gunn.
