- 0:00We're back with Dan Hurley. We're here in Hartford and iHeartMedia headquarters. Tell
- 0:05us so quickly about your European vacation. Was it a vacation. I know
- 0:09you did some cooking. I can't imagine it. What did Andrews say about
- 0:13what you came up with the PAIEA and how did that go over? My
- 0:18team won? I did see that in the I was involved in a lot
- 0:22of the preparation, but I did. I did kind of like influence the
- 0:26judges. Oh, it's important to me to win. Yeah, I understand
- 0:31that. I saw video of guys jumping off boats into the water. I
- 0:35don't know. Was that in Italy, Spain? It was? It was
- 0:38that was in the south of France. We were Monaco, Monico was It
- 0:41was a crazy place to go visit like a total fantasy land. There's probably
- 0:46not many places in the world like that. And then you know, by
- 0:50the time you you know, get to you know, a certain point on
- 0:54the trip, you know you're you're ready to go. I mean this,
- 0:58you got like a team with you and you're you know, you're like,
- 1:02you don't let your guard down a lot, you know, because it's not
- 1:04it's not a real It doesn't feel like a vay case. You did play
- 1:07three games, so the competition what I saw wasn't much. Is that what
- 1:12you Is that what you're looking for? I mean they were second division,
- 1:18you know, second division in Spain and and and the French team. No,
- 1:23I mean it's not. No. Smoking is still prominent in Europe.
- 1:30But when I went there in eighty eight with the Celtics, Johnny Mosse was
- 1:34our radio guy. I was doing TV. He would smoke during the game
- 1:37underneath the broadcast booth. Now that's thirty forty years ago and they're still smoking
- 1:42there. Yeah. Yeah, I think they just smoke, like right before
- 1:46the game. The nerves, you know. Oh is that the nerves they
- 1:51need the nicotine? Oh okay, that's good to know. That's good to
- 1:55know. Big East obviously starts in January. Whenever you play your first game,
- 2:00there's some different looks. I mean, Rick Patino's making a lot of
- 2:02noise. I read the New York papers all the time. It's an old
- 2:05habit of mine. And they got Rick Patino getting that team into the top
- 2:08twenty five, getting back to the tournament. I just think that brings a
- 2:12lot of juice to this conference. The music's going right now. I don't
- 2:15know I say anything. I mean we're done one mine, all right,
- 2:21yeah, one minute, Yeah, listen, you want the league to be
- 2:23as good as the league could be. There's nothing worse than playing like quad
- 2:28three or Quad four games in conference because conference games are brutal no matter what
- 2:34the records are for the most part. So you you know, you want
- 2:38to play a lot of games that are going to help your NCAA resume in
- 2:42league, not destroy it if you lose. And we've had too many of
- 2:46those types of games in the past. I mean, Son Georgetown being better,
- 2:50Saint John's being better. It's it makes biggies more compelling, and it's
- 2:53gonna help us seed higher in the tournament. All right. Thanks to Dan
- 2:58Hurley, you've got men's Past the ball Cooxy Show
