- 0:00Speaker 1: If you're listening to Mark on the iHeart radio app,
- 0:02Speaker 1: save time and dap the preset button. Now now back
- 0:06Speaker 1: to the Mark Simone Show on w O R. Oh no,
- 0:10Speaker 1: there's more of that Christmas stuff. Well, you got to
- 0:15Speaker 1: be honest. We have to admit next week at Thanksgiving.
- 0:18Speaker 1: Next week is Thanksgiving. Anyway, let's take some calls. Let's
- 0:22Speaker 1: go to uh D in Miami. D. How you doing?
- 0:26Speaker 2: Hello, Yes, good morning. Sure, Yes, I have a question
- 0:29Speaker 2: I'd like to ask you, sir.
- 0:30Speaker 1: Go ahead.
- 0:31Speaker 2: What do you think will happen if Africa was cut
- 0:34Speaker 2: off is uranium export to the United States in the
- 0:37Speaker 2: Western world.
- 0:38Speaker 1: Well, that could affect my iPhone battery. That would be
- 0:41Speaker 1: something that would be terrible.
- 0:42Speaker 2: That's what I think. I think the African counting a
- 0:46Speaker 2: you're gonna start, you know, to do because if this
- 0:49Speaker 2: man is going to continue in his policies, he's continued.
- 0:51Speaker 1: What are we talking about trumps?
- 0:54Speaker 3: Of course, sir?
- 0:55Speaker 1: Oh well, but also remember.
- 0:58Speaker 2: Also remember opinion for a minute, please.
- 1:01Speaker 1: No, I also remember at the same time, it would
- 1:04Speaker 1: be the end of the African economy since that's what
- 1:06Speaker 1: they do for a living is sell us uranium and
- 1:08Speaker 1: without that they'd go broke pretty fast. So let's go
- 1:11Speaker 1: to Bob and New Rochelle. Bob, how you doing. Wait
- 1:16Speaker 1: a minute, Bob, are there? Nope? We lost them. Let's
- 1:22Speaker 1: uh there, we got them. Go ahead.
- 1:25Speaker 4: I'm sorry. I know you're big Blue Bloods fan. My
- 1:27Speaker 4: wife's got me watching and I got a bit. It's
- 1:29Speaker 4: a good show, and I understand that you have to
- 1:31Speaker 4: suspend reality to a certain degree to these kind of shows.
- 1:33Speaker 4: But what would you in your opinion? Would you say
- 1:35Speaker 4: a more unrealistic one of the Reagans being involved in
- 1:38Speaker 4: the biggest case of the city every week, or Danny
- 1:41Speaker 4: Reagan have nothing but smoking hot partners and his wife
- 1:44Speaker 4: not having a problem with it.
- 1:45Speaker 1: Well, these are very good questions. I love Blue Bloods.
- 1:48Speaker 1: I still watch it and reruns every Wednesday. There is
- 1:50Speaker 1: a blue Blood Marathon. I love Blue Bloods. It's the
- 1:54Speaker 1: most unrealistic cop show ever. First of all, Len carry
- 1:58Speaker 1: you plays Tom Selick's father. These two guys are the
- 2:02Speaker 1: same age. There's like a one year age between these
- 2:05Speaker 1: two guys. Makes no sense at all. There's all kinds
- 2:08Speaker 1: of technical things, like the police commissioner does not wear
- 2:10Speaker 1: a uniform, which Tom Selleck does at times.
- 2:14Speaker 3: In the show.
- 2:14Speaker 1: Also, Danny Reagan every week is involved in a massive gunfire,
- 2:21Speaker 1: massive shootout every week. I've asked three commissioners, has there
- 2:26Speaker 1: ever been a cop that's in a shootout every week?
- 2:29Speaker 1: And they all said, if there was, I'd pull him
- 2:31Speaker 1: off the street immediately. We'd never be able to do that. Also, well,
- 2:36Speaker 1: we could go on and on. It's very unrealistic, but
- 2:39Speaker 1: despite that, it's a great show. You know, Like, if
- 2:41Speaker 1: you want to go back and watch NYPD Blue, NHYPD
- 2:44Speaker 1: Blue is probably the most realistic cop show. And I
- 2:47Speaker 1: started watching Boston Blue, the spinoff with Danny Reagan. I
- 2:50Speaker 1: got to admit, it's pretty good. It's very, very different
- 2:55Speaker 1: from Blue Blood. They've kept a couple of factors there,
- 2:58Speaker 1: a couple of little things, but it's very different and
- 3:01Speaker 1: it's a great show. Let's go to Mike and Florida. Mike,
- 3:04Speaker 1: how you doing.
- 3:05Speaker 2: Good morning, Mark, Mike.
- 3:08Speaker 5: I was laughing when you were talking about that Florida
- 3:11Speaker 5: h O way that was putting up the that's cracked
- 3:14Speaker 5: down on the Christmas decorations. I live in one of
- 3:16Speaker 5: these so called active fifty five communities, and it's neither
- 3:21Speaker 5: over just over fifty five or active, unless you consider
- 3:24Speaker 5: magong are contact sport. But they can't wait to put
- 3:28Speaker 5: up those stinking Christmas decorations. The irony is they're all
- 3:32Speaker 5: asleep by six o'clock that they don't even get to
- 3:34Speaker 5: see the lights lit up. And they're the most decrepit
- 3:38Speaker 5: looking things that they've been in the back of their garage.
- 3:41Speaker 5: You know that they lived in Michigan and they dragged
- 3:43Speaker 5: down here and I'm gonna put you know in their
- 3:45Speaker 5: follow liying like there's little kids around, and it's it's
- 3:49Speaker 5: so pathetic. I'm not against Christmas, it's great, but it's
- 3:53Speaker 5: their forced joy is like ludicrous. You can't wait to
- 3:57Speaker 5: put them up.
- 3:58Speaker 1: There's a lot of pathetic things about Florida. The most
- 4:00Speaker 1: pathetic is when you people in Florida try to celebrate Christmas.
- 4:03Speaker 1: It doesn't look right. Palm trees and Christmas don't go together.
- 4:06Speaker 5: No, not at all. It's eighty five degrees and I
- 4:09Speaker 5: follow lie.
- 4:10Speaker 1: Yeah, it doesn't work all right, Mike, thanks for calling.
- 4:14Speaker 1: You know, it's better to live in one of these
- 4:15Speaker 1: condo communities or something like that, because you know everything's
- 4:20Speaker 1: taken care of. If you've got your own house, you
- 4:21Speaker 1: got to find your own plumber. You got to find
- 4:23Speaker 1: your own people to fix it. If it's so much
- 4:26Speaker 1: easier in a condo, one of those complexes, one of
- 4:28Speaker 1: those communities. But then you got the board. You know,
- 4:32Speaker 1: it's always little old ladies with nothing to do who
- 4:34Speaker 1: go on this board and then run around on patrol
- 4:38Speaker 1: enforcing every little rule. Let's go to Dave in Chicago. Dave,
- 4:42Speaker 1: how you doing.
- 4:43Speaker 6: Good morning, Mark. I'm doing very well, Thank you. Mark.
- 4:46Speaker 6: I'm just beginning to read Love Johnny Carson by Mark Malcolm.
- 4:50Speaker 4: Oh.
- 4:50Speaker 1: It's the definitive book on Johnny Carson. It's the greatest
- 4:54Speaker 1: book ever in Johnny Carson just came out. We'll have
- 4:57Speaker 1: the author on in the next hour, but go ahead.
- 5:00Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 5:01Speaker 6: I noticed you've been quoted numerous times in the book.
- 5:05Speaker 6: I flipped through it quickly. But I have a question,
- 5:08Speaker 6: if I may. It says you had said that the
- 5:11Speaker 6: Midwest is very important to the Tonight Show and that's
- 5:14Speaker 6: what Johnny believes. Could you please explain? And lastly, Mark,
- 5:19Speaker 6: my second question is did Johnny's guest hosts follow that policy?
- 5:24Speaker 5: Well?
- 5:25Speaker 1: A couple of things about the Midwest. One a great
- 5:29Speaker 1: analyst show business analyst showed that all the great talk
- 5:33Speaker 1: show hosts were from the Midwest, Johnny Carson, David Letterman,
- 5:38Speaker 1: all these sorts. You could go down a whole list.
- 5:43Speaker 1: But the guests, we're all from New York. All the
- 5:46Speaker 1: great comedians are from Brooklyn or you know, New Jersey,
- 5:49Speaker 1: or they were all local New York. But in their
- 5:53Speaker 1: own city, they couldn't be the host. It was always
- 5:55Speaker 1: the Midwesterner that had to be the host of the show.
- 5:59Speaker 1: And Johnny and one of the valuable lessons he taught people,
- 6:01Speaker 1: he told me about this. He always taught this lesson.
- 6:05Speaker 1: The battle is won in the central time zone. It's
- 6:08Speaker 1: a very important rule. Don't try to appeal to like
- 6:10Speaker 1: elite New York or La or Beverly Hills. Always try
- 6:14Speaker 1: to appeal to the middle. And hey, we don't have
- 6:17Speaker 1: much time, but let's go to Vincent in Brooklyn. Vincent,
- 6:19Speaker 1: how you doing.
- 6:21Speaker 3: I'm doing good, Marc, good morning. Mark. I hope us
- 6:26Speaker 3: Jessicatish does not take the job with Zora Mundani finish
- 6:31Speaker 3: out her term. She's doing a great job. She does
- 6:34Speaker 3: have a business to go back to. And let Zora
- 6:38Speaker 3: Mandani's diz that were on his political posters. He just
- 6:43Speaker 3: had his first name, Zoran. Well, let the letter z
- 6:47Speaker 3: become the new scholart letter. Let him hang by his
- 6:51Speaker 3: own petad. And another thing, Kathy Hochel is thinking about
- 6:55Speaker 3: flip flopping on the corporate taxes, so Mandamie could have
- 6:59Speaker 3: his if we daycare, don't do it, stupid Hoko, you
- 7:04Speaker 3: could attract Jersey business to New York. They're paying eleven
- 7:09Speaker 3: point nine, we're charging seven point nine. If she had
- 7:13Speaker 3: any sense of any brains in her head, she could
- 7:17Speaker 3: use that as a selling point to draw the corporate
- 7:22Speaker 3: head quality.
- 7:22Speaker 1: Yeah, it's not brains, it's backbone. She has no backbone.
- 7:25Speaker 1: She's afraid of getting primary.
- 7:27Speaker 3: Well, that's what Michael Goodwin's article talked about. Yeah, she
- 7:31Speaker 3: doesn't have any backbone. But please, mistache, do not take
- 7:34Speaker 3: the job. Let it go to Let let disease for
- 7:39Speaker 3: Zoran become the new scholar letter. You like trumpiness, when
- 7:44Speaker 3: you plan, you come back and then you can wipe
- 7:47Speaker 3: the floor with him.
- 7:48Speaker 1: All right, Vincent, great call, Hey, when we come back.
- 7:51Speaker 1: Michael Goodwin's out here this week, but we'll talk to
- 7:53Speaker 1: the brilliant Calmst. Liz Peek. We'll talk about mom Donnie
- 7:56Speaker 1: and Hoche and all that next on seven to ten
- 7:58Speaker 1: w R
