- 1:45Speaker 1: at Jillets Stadium, and it's Jets Week. For whatever that's worth,
- 1:50Speaker 1: I think it's it's worth a lot. What you wear
- 1:54Speaker 1: sweater and cold.
- 1:56Speaker 5: I'm gonna pull a Fred. I don't care for it.
- 1:58Speaker 1: It's like a Fred McMurray.
- 1:59Speaker 3: Well I will, I.
- 2:00Speaker 9: Will say, out of all of Fred's fall fits, which
- 2:04Speaker 9: I guess it's winter now, so I can't use as
- 2:06Speaker 9: like this isn't my favorite.
- 2:07Speaker 1: Whoa, whoa, whoa, this is a whole brook.
- 2:10Speaker 5: Well, I didn't say it wasn't expensive. It's yours, so
- 2:13Speaker 5: I know you don't like this. You paid top dollar.
- 2:15Speaker 3: I like this is last on my friend.
- 2:17Speaker 1: I like zip ups. I don't like three quarter zips.
- 2:20Speaker 1: Things you have to pull over your head.
- 2:22Speaker 6: El you wear what you want to wear. Fred, don't
- 2:24Speaker 6: listen to them.
- 2:24Speaker 1: I'm going to just do me.
- 2:28Speaker 5: Wait, wait hear what he does to me. Wait, but
- 2:32Speaker 5: I'm going to get him back.
- 2:33Speaker 3: Don't don't listen to em.
- 2:34Speaker 9: Because this is also someone who's had multiple people come
- 2:37Speaker 9: up to him and say, you wear the same quarter
- 2:39Speaker 9: zip every single week.
- 2:40Speaker 6: Okay, first of all, First of all, we see each
- 2:43Speaker 6: other a lot here. Okay, I only have so much clothes.
- 2:48Speaker 6: All these people care enough, like come up.
- 2:50Speaker 5: To me and doesn't have time for clothes.
- 2:51Speaker 6: You just got a film, like I have this expansive
- 2:55Speaker 6: wardrobe like you know Kim Kardashian, and I got like
- 2:59Speaker 6: a warehouse for my clothes.
- 3:00Speaker 5: I wear a lot of the same.
- 3:02Speaker 3: Did get a new though?
- 3:04Speaker 5: Did you get a NEWE know way too much about.
- 3:08Speaker 7: Don't you feel like after you get stuff for the holidays, though,
- 3:10Speaker 7: you have to kind of soft launch your new clothes.
- 3:12Speaker 5: I can't wear it that day.
- 3:14Speaker 1: You don't want to walk in like especially with somebody
- 3:18Speaker 1: got something for friends, especially friend, he will not let
- 3:21Speaker 1: it pass, especially in this place.
- 3:26Speaker 5: I got.
- 3:26Speaker 7: I got a pair of black jeans which are just
- 3:28Speaker 7: like you get new jeans and black jeans. They are
- 3:30Speaker 7: way too black and like it just really bugging me.
- 3:32Speaker 7: But you know, everywhere I walk around, if you feel
- 3:33Speaker 7: self conscious, because like everyone knows, Oh do you get
- 3:35Speaker 7: those for Christmas?
- 3:36Speaker 4: They look great, It's fantastic.
- 3:39Speaker 5: I have to ask, who are you wearing? Yeah, all right,
- 3:42Speaker 5: Tommy Bahamash.
- 3:43Speaker 1: It's it's kind of a big week for so so
- 3:46Speaker 1: many reasons. One, we're playing the Jets and there's a
- 3:48Speaker 1: streak on the line here going streaking sixteen in a
- 3:52Speaker 1: row wins against the Jets on the line. Got to
- 3:55Speaker 1: keep that up. Last game of the season, I mean,
- 3:59Speaker 1: you know, you know, yeah, it is what it is.
- 4:02Speaker 1: Could it possibly Bill Belichick's last game as a coach.
- 4:06Speaker 1: We don't know, We don't know, but all eyes will
- 4:09Speaker 1: be on that. And to top it off, there's a
- 4:12Speaker 1: possibility of a major snowstorm Saturday night into Sunday morning.
- 4:17Speaker 7: Every time I brought up snow, Samara is like, no, stop,
- 4:20Speaker 7: I hadn't heard major.
- 4:21Speaker 4: I have.
- 4:21Speaker 3: I'm actually allergic to snow.
- 4:24Speaker 1: Okay, that means you're allergic to water.
- 4:27Speaker 9: My mom my grandparents said that when I was little,
- 4:29Speaker 9: like whatever, it's snowed because I was born in New York.
- 4:31Speaker 9: I don't know if I told you that, but so
- 4:32Speaker 9: whenever it's snow in New York, which is all the time,
- 4:34Speaker 9: they always had to carry me, I refuse to step
- 4:36Speaker 9: in it.
- 4:36Speaker 3: And I'm like, that tracks because I actually.
- 4:38Speaker 6: Hate It's okay, so you're not actually aler I am.
- 4:42Speaker 7: So we're going to strap you into like a baby.
- 4:45Speaker 1: That's not an allergy, that's a phoba.
- 4:47Speaker 3: I just hate it. I can't.
- 4:48Speaker 4: She just can't even I hear you.
- 4:49Speaker 5: But it's gonna make that commuty.
- 4:51Speaker 1: It might snow. They don't know like what's going on yet,
- 4:55Speaker 1: whether it's going to be a mix or heavy, but
- 4:57Speaker 1: it could be anything from a wintery mix to a
- 5:01Speaker 1: major blizzard. According to the news.
- 5:04Speaker 6: We all staying at the hotel at Patriot Place for
- 5:06Speaker 6: no you'll leave.
- 5:07Speaker 1: Your house at four in the morning.
- 5:10Speaker 4: I got a spot, and anybody wants to crash.
- 5:12Speaker 5: Thinking about that might put might put.
- 5:15Speaker 1: I mean for those of you who have to get
- 5:17Speaker 1: up early. I don't. I don't know. It's supposed to
- 5:18Speaker 1: be like morning Sunday and then trickle off during the day,
- 5:22Speaker 1: so I think the Sunday night commute will be fine.
- 5:24Speaker 1: It's just getting to the stadium that you better leave early.
- 5:28Speaker 4: I hope it doesn't like ruin the atmosphere. That would
- 5:30Speaker 4: be you.
- 5:31Speaker 7: Know more, because I'm just curious what the atmosphere is
- 5:33Speaker 7: actually you would add to the atmosphere, well, maybe if
- 5:36Speaker 7: it's the right amount of snow, but if it's too much,
- 5:38Speaker 7: then I feel like people are just going to be
- 5:39Speaker 7: kind of bum bundled up and miserable.
- 5:40Speaker 5: Fred, I think it might help the atmosphere because I'm
- 5:43Speaker 5: not sure what that's going to be like on Sunday normal.
- 5:46Speaker 7: You don't want to get people snowballs in this game.
- 5:48Speaker 7: They might be they may be firing.
- 5:49Speaker 5: Well, just you know, there's a lot. There's a lot
- 5:53Speaker 5: going on.
- 5:53Speaker 1: There's a lot going on for a meaningless Week eighteen game.
- 5:58Speaker 5: For both teams.
- 5:59Speaker 6: Yea, all, yeah, well it's not meaningless, but yeah, I
- 6:03Speaker 6: mean the reverse of meaning meaningful.
- 6:07Speaker 5: So go ahead.
- 6:09Speaker 1: No, I was gonna move the page to talking about
- 6:13Speaker 1: what it transpired on Sunday.
- 6:15Speaker 3: So oh no, yeah, No, mine is not about Sunday.
- 6:16Speaker 3: It's about Jets.
- 6:17Speaker 1: So yeah, okay, yeah, so hold that thought. All right,
- 6:20Speaker 1: So before we get into Jets week, we have to
- 6:24Speaker 1: kind of go back and look at what happened Sunday.
- 6:27Speaker 1: People calling it another example of this team playing hard
- 6:31Speaker 1: to the finish.
- 6:32Speaker 3: Do we have to talk about it. It's a new year.
- 6:34Speaker 3: We have to leave the past in the past.
- 6:35Speaker 1: I know. But four, I think I think the game
- 6:38Speaker 1: was remarkable, not in an outstanding sense, but just it's
- 6:44Speaker 1: worth making remarks about.
- 6:46Speaker 7: Yeah. I don't I mean, I don't. I don't really
- 6:49Speaker 7: care about the playing hard stuff. I just I think,
- 6:51Speaker 7: to me, it was just another game of the twenty
- 6:54Speaker 7: twenty three Patriots that just kind of told you, like, look,
- 6:56Speaker 7: it's not Mack or Zappy, Like this whole thing is
- 6:58Speaker 7: screwed up right now in this offense, especially like there
- 7:01Speaker 7: isn't like a player that was going to fix this.
- 7:03Speaker 7: This was a problem top to bottom. And you know,
- 7:05Speaker 7: even though Zappy made some plays, like again, it's it's
- 7:08Speaker 7: the same thing. You can't hold protection, you don't have
- 7:10Speaker 7: you know, enough guys they can catch the ball and
- 7:12Speaker 7: make big plays. So in that sense, I just liked.
- 7:15Speaker 7: It was like reassuring, like, Yep, this is what the
- 7:17Speaker 7: team was.
- 7:17Speaker 4: We know we have to do to change this wasn't.
- 7:19Speaker 1: And that's the thing, you know, I know a lot
- 7:21Speaker 1: of people want to say, oh, they're so close this year.
- 7:25Speaker 1: You know, if this didn't happen, if that happened, you know,
- 7:28Speaker 1: they'd be right in it.
- 7:30Speaker 5: But game.
- 7:32Speaker 1: But that's the case for most teams that aren't good
- 7:35Speaker 1: in the NFL. It's it is a matter of this
- 7:38Speaker 1: or that. But that's what separates the good teams from
- 7:41Speaker 1: the bad teams in the NFL. And like you said, Mike,
- 7:44Speaker 1: the fact that this has been a recurring issue tells
- 7:47Speaker 1: us that we can be confident in our evaluation that
- 7:50Speaker 1: this is who they are.
- 7:51Speaker 7: But I would say too that the good teams and
- 7:53Speaker 7: even some of the bad teams have had times this
- 7:55Speaker 7: season where they're blown doors off of people, or it's
- 7:58Speaker 7: all clicking and wow, they got the defense on the rune,
- 8:00Speaker 7: like the things that we point to with his Patriots teams.
- 8:02Speaker 4: Like they almost held on. Like that's what the consolation.
- 8:05Speaker 7: I get that the games are always close, but like
- 8:07Speaker 7: you know, even some of the bad teams this year
- 8:09Speaker 7: have seen have shown more of like a potential on
- 8:12Speaker 7: offense to actually move the ball.
- 8:14Speaker 4: And you know how many times this year did you.
- 8:16Speaker 7: Ever feel like, wow that the Patriots offense really got
- 8:18Speaker 7: this team on the run right now, Like it was
- 8:20Speaker 7: always just hanging on by the skinning your teeth and
- 8:23Speaker 7: there you go, Hey, that was like a drive. That
- 8:26Speaker 7: was a good you know, no, that's it, that's exact.
- 8:30Speaker 7: But that's you know, to me, it's just you never
- 8:33Speaker 7: you never saw that. Even a couple of years ago,
- 8:34Speaker 7: you'd see you know, they'd come in with a Jacksonville
- 8:36Speaker 7: team that had nobody and they're like, oh my god,
- 8:38Speaker 7: like look at the explosion.
- 8:39Speaker 1: Not even those.
- 8:40Speaker 4: Things mattered this year.
- 8:41Speaker 7: They lost to the Giants, they lost to the Colts,
- 8:43Speaker 7: They lost to the teams that were undermanned and had
- 8:45Speaker 7: a back a court.
- 8:46Speaker 1: Team like the Cowboys. That's an inconsistently good team. You know,
- 8:50Speaker 1: they have these great games and then they have these
- 8:52Speaker 1: games that they lose they shouldn't lose or hang on.
- 8:55Speaker 1: The Patriots are consistent, but it's in a bad way, yeah,
- 8:59Speaker 1: Derek Assistant. They're consistently bad, and they make the same
- 9:03Speaker 1: mistakes week after week that keep them from winning.
- 9:07Speaker 9: And I will say they got lucky that the Bills
- 9:09Speaker 9: were very off on offense as well, like Josh Allen
- 9:11Speaker 9: was just not his usual Otherwise they could have got
- 9:14Speaker 9: blown out with all those interceptions.
- 9:15Speaker 3: Like they're lucky at.
- 9:16Speaker 1: Guilt some credit to that, you know, Like you know,
- 9:20Speaker 1: during the game, a lot of people, oh, good thing,
- 9:22Speaker 1: Josh Allen's having a terrible game. But I did I
- 9:25Speaker 1: give the defense some credit, you know, into making that happen.
- 9:28Speaker 5: As receivers, I would say that, I would. I would say,
- 9:33Speaker 5: but to echo what Mike is saying that it was
- 9:36Speaker 5: a micro microcosm of the season because they just can't
- 9:39Speaker 5: move the ball and turnovers aside. I know everybody fixates
- 9:43Speaker 5: on the turnovers, turnovers aside, they don't move the ball
- 9:46Speaker 5: when they hold on to it, they don't move it. Now,
- 9:48Speaker 5: the one slight difference with Zappi is the thing we
- 9:51Speaker 5: talk about all the time. He moves around better than
- 9:54Speaker 5: Mac did. And occasionally they make a chunk play, right,
- 9:56Speaker 5: and when they get that chunk play, they're able to
- 9:58Speaker 5: score on a drive twice Like that's what happened. They
- 10:02Speaker 5: got two chunk plays, a fifty yard screen and a
- 10:05Speaker 5: forty yard past a Rager, and they scored on those
- 10:08Speaker 5: two drives. Otherwise, they can't move the ball no matter
- 10:11Speaker 5: who the quarterback is. Defensively, general terms, they will play
- 10:16Speaker 5: at a level that's good enough for you to compete
- 10:18Speaker 5: if you can if you have offense. Yep, they have
- 10:21Speaker 5: no offense. And I thought, I agree with you, Fred.
- 10:23Speaker 5: I thought, yes, Josh Allen was terrible in that game. Yes,
- 10:27Speaker 5: the Bills receivers dropped a bunch of passes, but a
- 10:29Speaker 5: lot of that I do think was due to the
- 10:31Speaker 5: Patriots defense. I think they played well. They didn't only
- 10:35Speaker 5: dropped like huge short passes, big player.
- 10:38Speaker 6: You have to like the context of of the drops
- 10:40Speaker 6: are important because they dropped a past Sirfield dropped a
- 10:43Speaker 6: pass on the little return route that Alex Austin would
- 10:46Speaker 6: have tackled him six yards shorter. That's what I said,
- 10:48Speaker 6: short pass right and then so really the only pass
- 10:50Speaker 6: that they dropped that was a huge factor as Latavius
- 10:53Speaker 6: Murray dropped one passed the sticks that was wide open
- 10:55Speaker 6: that would have been a first down. The other plays,
- 10:58Speaker 6: I look, I Zappi's a roller coaster. His film is
- 11:02Speaker 6: an absolute roller coaster. You're either going all the way
- 11:05Speaker 6: down or you're going all the way up and there's
- 11:06Speaker 6: no in between, and it's it's kind of crazy to
- 11:09Speaker 6: watch it out of the gate. I had him with
- 11:12Speaker 6: like five negative plays in a row.
- 11:15Speaker 5: You did, pf F had no none. We'll get to that.
- 11:20Speaker 5: They had him for no turnover worthy plays. We can
- 11:24Speaker 5: get to two of them.
- 11:27Speaker 6: Yeah, it was a roller coaster, Paul, you know, you
- 11:30Speaker 6: said it perfectly. They get like a couple of big plays.
- 11:33Speaker 6: I thought he made a really good throw to Parker
- 11:34Speaker 6: on a crossing route. Uh, the scramble that he you know,
- 11:37Speaker 6: seventeen yard touchdown on a scramble. Nice play, the ragerbomb,
- 11:42Speaker 6: nice play. Like those those are nice.
- 11:45Speaker 4: I like that.
- 11:47Speaker 5: I like that.
- 11:48Speaker 6: I told Neil, I was like, you missed an opportunity
- 11:50Speaker 6: that here, Neil. Yeah, anyways, so right, but I did.
- 11:55Speaker 6: I do want to give the defense flowers though, because
- 11:57Speaker 6: I really feel like that defensively, the fact that they
- 12:02Speaker 6: have Alex Austin and Sean Wade playing significant naps at
- 12:06Speaker 6: corner and they are ninth and DVOA in the NFL
- 12:10Speaker 6: right now, they are the fact that they've held on
- 12:12Speaker 6: defensively like that is.
- 12:14Speaker 1: Now have to put context into there. I want to
- 12:18Speaker 1: be fair. Teams don't have to, you know, go crazy,
- 12:22Speaker 1: you know.
- 12:23Speaker 6: So, Yeah, but I don't feel like the Bills play
- 12:25Speaker 6: that way. Like the Bills are pedal to the medal.
- 12:27Speaker 6: Like if the Bills could have scored fifty points on
- 12:29Speaker 6: the Patriots on Sunday, I think they would have.
- 12:31Speaker 5: Yeah, I would say yes and no. But I think
- 12:33Speaker 5: on this game, I think the Patriots played like and
- 12:35Speaker 5: you know I've been sometimes I push back on you guys.
- 12:38Speaker 5: I thought this game they did stuff that bothered the
- 12:42Speaker 5: Bills offense. Yeah, and Josh Allen in particular.
- 12:45Speaker 6: They have a formula against Josh Allen.
- 12:47Speaker 5: Like I think they maybe it's the first time that
- 12:50Speaker 5: I've ever seen him really get slowed down by the Patriots. Well,
- 12:52Speaker 5: I think they did it in Week seven too. Yeah,
- 12:54Speaker 5: I didn't. I thought that was more. I mean, they
- 12:56Speaker 5: still scored twenty five points and it wasn't turnal related. Yeah,
- 13:00Speaker 5: but I just think that they.
- 13:01Speaker 6: Want They won their fair share of rounds against Josh
- 13:03Speaker 6: Allen in Week seven too.
- 13:04Speaker 1: I mean that's all you're looking for is a few
- 13:06Speaker 1: stops in a game against a team like that to
- 13:08Speaker 1: give yourself a shot.
- 13:10Speaker 6: I think they've closed the gap.
- 13:11Speaker 1: A lot of teams can't that. A lot of teams
- 13:13Speaker 1: can't do that.
- 13:13Speaker 4: My wonder though, was, and I mean this maybe a
- 13:16Speaker 4: question for discussion was.
- 13:17Speaker 5: Through the Bills.
- 13:18Speaker 4: Are the Bills getting stale?
- 13:20Speaker 7: And are the Patriots they're smart, like you know where
- 13:22Speaker 7: when they had Dable who maybe could stay one step
- 13:24Speaker 7: ahead of the curve, are they kind of just going
- 13:26Speaker 7: to the well too many times? It seemed like a
- 13:28Speaker 7: lot of these plays the Patriots were understanding the concepts
- 13:30Speaker 7: and able to drop off and make plays.
- 13:31Speaker 6: So yeah, and that's exactly what the players said after
- 13:35Speaker 6: the game was our assistant coaches deserve all the credit.
- 13:38Speaker 6: We knew their plays, we knew their formations, we knew
- 13:41Speaker 6: I want to get into that a little bit. Yeah,
- 13:43Speaker 6: and they were really well prepared. I mean Alex Austin
- 13:46Speaker 6: saw that play on film, the to Dalton Kincaid and
- 13:49Speaker 6: jumped the wheel route and picked it off. I mean
- 13:51Speaker 6: those are plays that they practiced during the week that
- 13:53Speaker 6: he was prepared for.
- 13:54Speaker 1: I would say that, you know, I've been saying, and
- 13:57Speaker 1: I think we all have all season long, that the
- 14:00Speaker 1: defense has been well coached. But it's the first time
- 14:02Speaker 1: I've heard the players call out the assistant coaches for
- 14:07Speaker 1: the game plan. And you know, it could be just
- 14:10Speaker 1: unique that they specifically really had the number on Josh Allen,
- 14:15Speaker 1: or could these players be thinking the same thing everyone
- 14:18Speaker 1: else is, like, this is the end of the line
- 14:20Speaker 1: for a lot of people here, including these assistant coaches.
- 14:23Speaker 1: Let's do a shout out to them because they could
- 14:25Speaker 1: be looking for jobs.
- 14:28Speaker 5: I don't want to get that deep. Okay, it's possible.
- 14:30Speaker 6: I just looked at it and thought that datas felt
- 14:35Speaker 6: like those guys have been coaching their butts off all season.
- 14:38Speaker 5: That's what it even looked like on TV. Like I
- 14:40Speaker 5: just felt like, like I said, I've been willing to
- 14:43Speaker 5: say that, I thought they got kind of like like,
- 14:45Speaker 5: I don't think they did anything to stop Kansas City,
- 14:48Speaker 5: and Kansas City hasn't been able to move the ball
- 14:50Speaker 5: again and score points against anybody, but this game, I
- 14:53Speaker 5: do think that they were responsible for keeping the Bills
- 14:57Speaker 5: in check. Now, it has been a very sporadic offense
- 14:59Speaker 5: all year. It's been, and I think that Joe Brady
- 15:03Speaker 5: has made a big difference for them, but you didn't
- 15:06Speaker 5: see that on Sunday, and he's been that offense has
- 15:09Speaker 5: been better since they made the switch, but it wasn't
- 15:12Speaker 5: better on Sunday, and they benefited obviously from short fields.
- 15:15Speaker 5: They had four turnovers, they' scored two touchdowns two field goals.
- 15:17Speaker 1: Off of them.
- 15:18Speaker 5: That's the game. Yeah, yeah, that's the game, and you
- 15:22Speaker 5: know the rest of it. I kind of agree with
- 15:25Speaker 5: Mike with you know, we talked a lot in the postgame,
- 15:27Speaker 5: you know, the the competitiveness and the playing hard stuff, like, okay, whatever,
- 15:34Speaker 5: it's the same game that I've seen all year along.
- 15:36Speaker 1: The Cardinals are playing hard, everybody's playing it.
- 15:38Speaker 5: But it's the same game, you know, Like I don't
- 15:41Speaker 5: know how close the game was another Now we'll never
- 15:44Speaker 5: know what would have happened if they didn't turn it
- 15:45Speaker 5: over four times on the first whatever four possessions, five possessions, Well,
- 15:49Speaker 5: we won't know. But the fact of the matter is
- 15:51Speaker 5: that's what they do and the game was kind of over.
- 15:53Speaker 1: That's who they are.
- 15:54Speaker 5: Like, when you go into the fourth quarter down two
- 15:56Speaker 5: scores consistently, you're not going to win. And a lot
- 16:00Speaker 5: of their one score losses or games that they trailed
- 16:02Speaker 5: by two scores in the fourth quarter, yeah, like you're
- 16:05Speaker 5: not going to win those games.
- 16:06Speaker 1: But you have to admit when Rager returned that kickoff,
- 16:08Speaker 1: you're like, Okay, we were just laughing.
- 16:11Speaker 4: I was laughing.
- 16:12Speaker 5: I mean you well laughing.
- 16:13Speaker 7: I think you know the comparison of last year's finale
- 16:15Speaker 7: in there, I mean that was that was crazy. And
- 16:17Speaker 7: then of course Bailey Sappy follows that up with two
- 16:20Speaker 7: weeks in a row of turno.
- 16:21Speaker 4: From the very first play.
- 16:22Speaker 6: Yeah, I from the press box angle, you could see
- 16:26Speaker 6: the whole open for Jalen Rager, and I'm sitting there like, oh,
- 16:29Speaker 6: he's got a chance here, and then he you know,
- 16:31Speaker 6: ends up going yeah.
- 16:34Speaker 5: Did you see that like the next gen he hit
- 16:35Speaker 5: like twenty.
- 16:36Speaker 6: Months Yeah, Taylor basket, Yeah, yeah, because.
- 16:39Speaker 4: It was got one eye black.
- 16:41Speaker 1: But you know, they they returned the kick, then I
- 16:43Speaker 1: think they go three and out right yeah, and you think, okay,
- 16:47Speaker 1: here we go.
- 16:47Speaker 5: He got stripsacked on the first Yeah, Okay, here we go. Yeah.
- 16:51Speaker 6: Just yeah, I stay like yeah, I just I really
- 16:53Speaker 6: think that this defense with a lot of people that
- 16:58Speaker 6: you weren't expecting to play, like Alex's a mid season acquisition,
- 17:01Speaker 6: like you sign him off with somebody's waiver wire.
- 17:04Speaker 5: I want a quick question for you. This is a
- 17:06Speaker 5: total aside. Do you remember me saying that he's not
- 17:09Speaker 5: an NFL player? Yeah, I did, no, because I don't
- 17:13Speaker 5: I don't remember. I don't know anything about Alex Austin.
- 17:16Speaker 1: So you're getting killed by somebody.
- 17:17Speaker 5: Oh yeah, Mike Reese had like a tweet after his pick, which,
- 17:24Speaker 5: by the way, was a terrific play in Evan's right.
- 17:27Speaker 5: That wasn't just like a routine they threw the ball
- 17:28Speaker 5: to him. It was like Jalen Ramsey's play and build
- 17:31Speaker 5: compared it to that in Miami. But uh, he had
- 17:35Speaker 5: the thing, and then some guy tweets and says, yeah, PFW,
- 17:38Speaker 5: Paul says he's not an NFL player. I'm like, I
- 17:40Speaker 5: don't even know who Alex as like when they got him,
- 17:43Speaker 5: he was a seventh round pick for Buffalo. I don't.
- 17:45Speaker 5: I'm sorry, I don't know the draft seven rounds deep.
- 17:48Speaker 5: I don't pretend to, and I did not. I was
- 17:50Speaker 5: not familiar with Alex Austin before he became a Patriot,
- 17:54Speaker 5: So I don't know if I ever called him, like,
- 17:56Speaker 5: not an advot.
- 17:57Speaker 1: To think that you did, because you call most of
- 17:58Speaker 1: the Patriots non NFL.
- 18:00Speaker 5: I might call him a jag or something like that,
- 18:01Speaker 5: but like not belonging in the NFL and a guy
- 18:03Speaker 5: I've never heard of, I don't know. I feel like
- 18:06Speaker 5: I have to see you play, like Trent Brown doesn't
- 18:08Speaker 5: belong in the NFL right now.
- 18:09Speaker 1: It could have been part of a.
- 18:10Speaker 5: Different yeah, but I don't it doesn't sound like me anyway.
- 18:14Speaker 5: I've been. I've been.
- 18:16Speaker 1: It's remarkable, what's use because you remark on it right.
- 18:19Speaker 6: Like, I don't know what the right word is because
- 18:21Speaker 6: I'm not trying to hype him up like he's you know,
- 18:23Speaker 6: prime Stefan Gilmour.
- 18:24Speaker 5: But I've been intrigued.
- 18:26Speaker 6: By Alex Austin. I think that he moves really well
- 18:29Speaker 6: on film.
- 18:30Speaker 1: Sounds like he's coachable.
- 18:31Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, he moves like an NFL cornerback. You know,
- 18:34Speaker 6: he's got speed, he's got length, he's got change of direction.
- 18:37Speaker 6: He just has to you know, he's got mental Erreage's
- 18:40Speaker 6: a rookie, he just got he has one or two
- 18:43Speaker 6: brain farts a game where he's not in the right
- 18:44Speaker 6: coverage or he's not in the right spot. And the
- 18:47Speaker 6: big d post to Diggs was was I think on
- 18:50Speaker 6: him that there was no post safety on that play.
- 18:52Speaker 6: But like those are things that you think with time
- 18:55Speaker 6: and with seasoning, like he could iron out and maybe
- 18:57Speaker 6: he can be a third corner.
- 18:59Speaker 5: That's the one Jonathan Jones was like looking immediately looked,
- 19:02Speaker 5: oh yeah, it looks like someone was looking for a
- 19:04Speaker 5: little help on that. Yeah.
- 19:05Speaker 1: Nothing, nobody calls out teammates. More like secondary play corner.
- 19:09Speaker 5: That's what you gotta do, right, corners, corners and white outs. Yeah,
- 19:13Speaker 5: you know.
- 19:13Speaker 6: It's It's like it was a post cross and Jalen
- 19:16Speaker 6: Mills was the post safety originally he jumped the crossing route,
- 19:19Speaker 6: which means Alex Austin should be replacing him on the
- 19:21Speaker 6: post now if it's a long way to go, like,
- 19:24Speaker 6: I don't know if it would have been a big
- 19:25Speaker 6: factor anyways, but that was I think what the rotation
- 19:28Speaker 6: was supposed to be. And Jonathan Jones did the did
- 19:31Speaker 6: the old daggers right at Alex Austin after that play.
- 19:34Speaker 5: Now, that was an example of a play that Josh
- 19:36Speaker 5: Allen being off, Yeah, because that was that was a touchdown.
- 19:39Speaker 7: I just didn't know why Mills jumped the cross as
- 19:41Speaker 7: it felt like map who had I think it.
- 19:43Speaker 6: Was, Yeah, had decent decent coverage there. Yeah, I don't know.
- 19:47Speaker 6: I also thought that Kyle Duggars, you know, the fifty
- 19:50Speaker 6: one yard er to Kincaid like Steve like, come back
- 19:53Speaker 6: to us please, Like we're calling cover zero on the
- 19:55Speaker 6: thirty six yard line on first and ten, Like what that? Like,
- 19:59Speaker 6: I get we all, well, you know Duggar has his
- 20:01Speaker 6: issues in coverage, like we all can see that. But
- 20:03Speaker 6: that was just a horrible call.
- 20:05Speaker 1: Yeah, I was wondering, like why he ended up where
- 20:07Speaker 1: he was.
- 20:08Speaker 6: He was in man coverage on Kincaid and there is
- 20:10Speaker 6: no deep help and they blitzed the house on first
- 20:13Speaker 6: and ten. I don't know why you do that.
- 20:15Speaker 1: Well, if it works, like oh look good.
- 20:17Speaker 5: You know they they have what they say.
- 20:22Speaker 6: They have blitzed Josh Allen more this year than they
- 20:26Speaker 6: did the last couple of years, and I think it's
- 20:28Speaker 6: mostly worked.
- 20:30Speaker 5: But that one played it. He beat him bad.
- 20:32Speaker 7: It's interesting because how much do they have to because
- 20:34Speaker 7: they don't have chewed on Like they have to send
- 20:35Speaker 7: guys because they just don't have the horses right now
- 20:37Speaker 7: outside of you know, bar Moore, maybe Keon White a
- 20:40Speaker 7: little bit, but you know, just to go back to Mapo,
- 20:43Speaker 7: I thought I thought he looked pretty good. I mean
- 20:44Speaker 7: it seemed like they specifically put him in there. I
- 20:46Speaker 7: didn't look at the splits from the first Bills game.
- 20:48Speaker 7: I know Kincaid had a bunch of production in that game,
- 20:50Speaker 7: but you know, other than the big catch, I thought,
- 20:52Speaker 7: you know, Mapu did a pretty good job on him.
- 20:54Speaker 7: And I think that's what I'm seeing from Maphu is
- 20:57Speaker 7: like just that length, Like none of those other safeties
- 21:00Speaker 7: I really ideally suited to cover tight ends like he is.
- 21:02Speaker 7: So I just I wonder if that's something that he's
- 21:05Speaker 7: kind of carving out as a role that they can
- 21:07Speaker 7: use going forward.
- 21:07Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 21:08Speaker 6: Yeah, he played a lot at the second level.
- 21:09Speaker 1: Of Rodney Harrison type coverage. Guy.
- 21:11Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean he had a good coverage on that.
- 21:13Speaker 4: I couldn't really see.
- 21:15Speaker 1: Hermont in the end zone.
- 21:18Speaker 4: There was an incompletion. I think it was to Kincadie.
- 21:20Speaker 7: He kind of was just running like a like a
- 21:21Speaker 7: little post from inside, but I couldn't tell if it
- 21:24Speaker 7: was just kind of a bad throw. It's like one
- 21:26Speaker 7: of those ones where everything kind of happens in a
- 21:27Speaker 7: jumble you can't see it. But but I thought Mapu
- 21:29Speaker 7: looked pretty good. I know, key On White was two
- 21:31Speaker 7: people were. I wish I could see it.
- 21:33Speaker 4: I just I don't know.
- 21:35Speaker 1: So, you know, I think there's two narratives coming out
- 21:38Speaker 1: of this game. One, like Paul said, microcosm of the season,
- 21:43Speaker 1: more of the same, and the other was, Wow, they're
- 21:46Speaker 1: playing hard to the end and it must be for billt.
- 21:49Speaker 6: Yeah, I'm not going it's not. I'll give the defense
- 21:51Speaker 6: a lot of credit for what they did. And I'm
- 21:54Speaker 6: intrigued that the fact that I think they have closed
- 21:56Speaker 6: the gap against Josh Allen. I mean, in twenty twenty one,
- 22:00Speaker 6: the guy didn't punt right like, he just up and
- 22:02Speaker 6: down the field, up and down the field, and they
- 22:04Speaker 6: look like they were playing a different sport against Buffalo.
- 22:07Speaker 1: But really though, and not to take anything away from
- 22:10Speaker 1: the defense though, but is it that they've closed the
- 22:13Speaker 1: gap with the Bills or the Bills offense just isn't
- 22:16Speaker 1: what it was.
- 22:17Speaker 6: I mean, it can be both. I think it can
- 22:19Speaker 6: be both. But either way that's good news for the Patriots.
- 22:21Speaker 6: Oh like, if Josh Allen is going to be this
- 22:23Speaker 6: player instead of the player that he was, you know,
- 22:26Speaker 6: twenty twenty, twenty twenty one, when I think he was
- 22:28Speaker 6: really in his peak of his powers with Dable, then
- 22:32Speaker 6: if I'm a Patriots fan, I'd much rather him be
- 22:34Speaker 6: this guy like guy.
- 22:36Speaker 1: It's almost like the same thing that's going on in
- 22:38Speaker 1: the AFC West, you know, except no one can really
- 22:42Speaker 1: play well enough. But you know, the Chiefs are having
- 22:46Speaker 1: a hard time with their offense.
- 22:47Speaker 6: Yeah, I think the difference is like I think Buffalo
- 22:49Speaker 6: has better supporting cast. Yeah, like I Sefon Diggs, Gabe Davis.
- 22:54Speaker 6: I think Shaker can play that slot role pretty well.
- 22:57Speaker 6: James Cooks are really good running back, Like I think
- 22:59Speaker 6: that they're offensive issues are that Allen has developed some
- 23:03Speaker 6: bad habits.
- 23:04Speaker 5: He's regressed in a lot of areas. Yeah, Like the
- 23:06Speaker 5: two fumbles for him, like this is like you go,
- 23:09Speaker 5: you know, it's like four turnovers. Everybody four turn well,
- 23:12Speaker 5: like the other side is like they got to kick
- 23:14Speaker 5: me turn for a touchdown, which is like a turnover,
- 23:16Speaker 5: you know, And then they turned it over once and
- 23:20Speaker 5: they had two other fumbles. And yes, they didn't lose
- 23:23Speaker 5: the fumbles, so they didn't lead directly to points, but
- 23:27Speaker 5: they were really mindless fumbles, especially the second one which
- 23:30Speaker 5: could have which could have put them behind in the
- 23:32Speaker 5: fourth quarter. Yea, you know, like he's short by a yard.
- 23:38Speaker 5: He's a moose. Just go for it on fourth and one.
- 23:42Speaker 5: They're not stopping him on fourth and one. That was
- 23:44Speaker 5: another play where they ran Murray on a third and
- 23:47Speaker 5: third and less than the yard when every quarterback sneak
- 23:51Speaker 5: was getting like five yards in the game, Like, why
- 23:55Speaker 5: would you turn around and hand it off to Latavious
- 23:57Speaker 5: Murray in that situation the quarterback sneaks they would get
- 23:59Speaker 5: in the zon they were getting like nothing. Yeah, they
- 24:02Speaker 5: weren't even close.
- 24:04Speaker 4: It just feels like all bets are off now with
- 24:05Speaker 4: Josh Allen, we're getting don to the coach.
- 24:09Speaker 5: That was insane, and you know, you know, I don't
- 24:11Speaker 5: want to play you aside of you know, I like
- 24:14Speaker 5: Josh Allen, but that was an insane stupid.
- 24:16Speaker 6: I get frustrated watching Josh Allen now because it's it's
- 24:20Speaker 6: Freddy you say this all the time. It's like talent wasted.
- 24:22Speaker 6: Like he needs somebody that's going to coach him and
- 24:26Speaker 6: is gonna rain him in but and have him play
- 24:29Speaker 6: under control. Right now, his eyes, his feet, everything is
- 24:33Speaker 6: just all over the place and you can see that
- 24:35Speaker 6: he's just sped up and moving at a different pace.
- 24:38Speaker 5: He didn't look good. He didn't look good at that
- 24:40Speaker 5: game at all.
- 24:41Speaker 7: Chill and I feel like the frustrations like taking him now,
- 24:43Speaker 7: and he's just like, I'm just I got to try
- 24:45Speaker 7: to will us to a super Bowl.
- 24:46Speaker 5: But I agree with Evan too. I think that they
- 24:49Speaker 5: have some options. I don't think they have elite talent
- 24:52Speaker 5: other than Diggs, but they have more options than Kansas
- 24:55Speaker 5: City does. Like, I think Shakira in particular, is a
- 24:59Speaker 5: guy you and I really liked.
- 25:01Speaker 1: Mike.
- 25:03Speaker 5: I think he's better than the supporting guys for Kansas City. Yeah,
- 25:08Speaker 5: you know, like Kadarius Tony.
- 25:09Speaker 6: I think Shakira would be a lot better if Allen
- 25:11Speaker 6: was playing more under control.
- 25:13Speaker 5: But right, they played by Shakida in the game. Real, Yeah, terrible.
- 25:19Speaker 3: I want to want to go back to what you
- 25:20Speaker 3: said earlier. I think they're playing for not Bill.
- 25:23Speaker 9: I think they're playing for themselves and getting their tape
- 25:26Speaker 9: together because a lot of them will be free agents.
- 25:28Speaker 5: Yeah, so that's what they're saying.
- 25:30Speaker 9: Yeah, I don't think I has anything to do with
- 25:31Speaker 9: playing for Bill. I don't think it has anything to do
- 25:33Speaker 9: with that, and more so playing for themselves and their futures.
- 25:36Speaker 5: Yeah, and whether it's Bill or not. And I agree
- 25:39Speaker 5: with Tamara because I think a lot of players have
- 25:41Speaker 5: said as much. But I just feel like there can
- 25:47Speaker 5: be things that are true. I think the Patriots are
- 25:49Speaker 5: continuing to play hard. I haven't seen since early in
- 25:53Speaker 5: the season a lot of examples with now there were
- 25:55Speaker 5: individual players, and we can probably get to that in
- 25:58Speaker 5: the second hour of the show Brown who have decided
- 26:02Speaker 5: to just flat out quit, you know, So that's a
- 26:05Speaker 5: different thing. But the guys that are on the field,
- 26:07Speaker 5: and I say this all the time when you tank
- 26:10Speaker 5: quote everybody's tank, tank this tank. That the guys on
- 26:13Speaker 5: the field are playing hard, and this is an example
- 26:16Speaker 5: of it. Fred brought up the Cardinals who go to
- 26:18Speaker 5: Philly and allow a ninety nine yard pick six and
- 26:23Speaker 5: still find a way to win the game playing for nothing. Yeah,
- 26:26Speaker 5: you could certainly make the argument, just like in New England,
- 26:29Speaker 5: that that win hurt them. But they're playing hard because
- 26:33Speaker 5: what Tamara said, a lot of the guys that are
- 26:35Speaker 5: out there playing are playing for their career.
- 26:37Speaker 6: Our boy, Greg Derch, I just don't don't see why.
- 26:41Speaker 6: I just can't really get into that, Like, don't I
- 26:43Speaker 6: don't know why it matters exactly like it exactly. It
- 26:45Speaker 6: just doesn't matter.
- 26:47Speaker 1: Well, I think in this case, you know, it takes
- 26:50Speaker 1: on a little extra because of the situation. Right.
- 26:52Speaker 6: It's but there's it's it's all extreme, right because it's
- 26:56Speaker 6: either they're Brandon staliating it and they give up like
- 26:59Speaker 6: a hundred point and totally, which is.
- 27:01Speaker 5: The one game that I can point to this year
- 27:03Speaker 5: where I saw it, like I visibly saw the team.
- 27:05Speaker 6: Quit, right, or or they're doing what the Patriots are doing,
- 27:08Speaker 6: which is just not being a good football team and losing, right.
- 27:11Speaker 6: And I just don't really know, like there's that's it's
- 27:14Speaker 6: either so okay, great, they're not They're not giving up
- 27:17Speaker 6: sixty points to the Raiders and getting blown out and
- 27:20Speaker 6: losing games like that.
- 27:22Speaker 5: I had one of my friends point out, He's like, well,
- 27:24Speaker 5: you know, like what about the Jets against Cleveland like
- 27:27Speaker 5: last Thursday, And I'm like, well, the Jets did what
- 27:30Speaker 5: they do and they they've turned the ball over thirty
- 27:32Speaker 5: two times this year, which is by far the most
- 27:35Speaker 5: in the league, and they I don't think that they
- 27:39Speaker 5: weren't trying. I just think they're not good. In Cleveland
- 27:41Speaker 5: is good and Cleveland has been exceptionally good at defense
- 27:45Speaker 5: at home, like, they continued to play. They fell behind
- 27:49Speaker 5: twenty seven to seven. The game didn't go away after that.
- 27:53Speaker 5: They you know, the Jets, they got down inside the five,
- 27:56Speaker 5: they went for a fourth down, didn't get it. They
- 27:58Speaker 5: scored again later. They never really got back in the game,
- 28:00Speaker 5: but they kept competing in the game. And then he's like, no,
- 28:04Speaker 5: they just quit. I go, well, did the Patriots quit Sunday?
- 28:07Speaker 5: Because I saw a team that turned the ball over
- 28:09Speaker 5: four times in the first half, Like, is that an
- 28:12Speaker 5: example of minutes? Is that an example of not playing hard?
- 28:14Speaker 5: I don't think it was. I don't think Bailey's appy
- 28:17Speaker 5: quit and that's why he threw three picks. I think
- 28:19Speaker 5: it just happened.
- 28:21Speaker 7: I watched some of those bowl games this weekend, and
- 28:23Speaker 7: not the semi fin. To watch the semi fine, but
- 28:25Speaker 7: not talking about the semi final. I was watching it
- 28:26Speaker 7: and going football players are used to playing meaningless games,
- 28:29Speaker 7: like you know, it's part of like college football, like hell, like,
- 28:32Speaker 7: were they trying hard in the bowl game?
- 28:34Speaker 4: Have one of those kind of things.
- 28:35Speaker 3: Yeah, the Georgia Florida State one. There are many.
- 28:38Speaker 5: Questions on Florida State. You know, Florida State play with
- 28:42Speaker 5: their scout team. Yeah, yeah, like that was really.
- 28:45Speaker 4: Is that what Scrap told you?
- 28:46Speaker 5: No, No, I refused to talk to Scrap.
- 28:48Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 28:49Speaker 5: I wanted to ask you, like, do you remember, like
- 28:51Speaker 5: about a week and a half ago we got some
- 28:53Speaker 5: some email or a call about USC lit it up
- 28:57Speaker 5: in their bowl game? Does this make you think differently
- 28:59Speaker 5: about Calebiams? Kind of? Well, did anybody think definitely about
- 29:03Speaker 5: Jaden Daniels Now is the guy that played for LSU
- 29:06Speaker 5: yesterday lit it up through for like almost like three
- 29:10Speaker 5: hundred and ninety yards and four touchdowns. Oh, by the way,
- 29:14Speaker 5: commonality here LSU has like really good players that were
- 29:18Speaker 5: catching passes for them, So like, yeah, I mean there's
- 29:22Speaker 5: a lot of talent in some of those schools, now
- 29:24Speaker 5: Florida State. It's a situation. It's a little different because
- 29:27Speaker 5: they're on the way back and then like they're basically
- 29:29Speaker 5: they're too deep, didn't play. They had like twenty four
- 29:31Speaker 5: healthy opt outs not counting like the quarterback who's hurt.
- 29:36Speaker 5: Like that was like they still arguably arguably playing the
- 29:41Speaker 5: number one team in then the best team in the country.
- 29:43Speaker 5: Who's pissed with all your backups? They just like it
- 29:48Speaker 5: was like a you know early in the year when
- 29:49Speaker 5: you see some of the big time teams play like
- 29:52Speaker 5: a one double a opponent and they can just hand
- 29:54Speaker 5: the ball off every player of the second. You know,
- 29:59Speaker 5: you could just like hand the all off every play
- 30:00Speaker 5: and you can't stop him. That's what Jeorjia did to
- 30:03Speaker 5: Florida State. It was embarrassing. It was like a high
- 30:05Speaker 5: school mismatch. Yeah, it was terrible, sixty three to three,
- 30:09Speaker 5: and it could have been worse. Oh, they, like I said,
- 30:11Speaker 5: they handed the ball off almost every play.
- 30:13Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 30:13Speaker 7: I watched the Alabama Michigan game though, that was Did
- 30:15Speaker 7: you watch that every minute of it?
- 30:19Speaker 5: It was I'd be interested to get like maybe a
- 30:21Speaker 5: third hour to get your thoughts on that.
- 30:24Speaker 4: We do you have to know, thanks on JJ McCarthy,
- 30:27Speaker 4: But no.
- 30:28Speaker 1: It was neither one of those quarterbacks.
- 30:30Speaker 6: I'm a little disappointed because I feel like you watched
- 30:32Speaker 6: the word like the game that did that mattered less.
- 30:34Speaker 4: I know, well, I mean I'm not going to rule
- 30:37Speaker 4: out yet, but now I I it was.
- 30:39Speaker 5: I mean, you can rule JJ McCarthy.
- 30:40Speaker 4: The atmosphere, I think, oh yeah, the atmosphere.
- 30:43Speaker 5: I don't want to I don't want to get it
- 30:44Speaker 5: thrown back in my face. I don't think they need to.
- 30:47Speaker 9: Move the time of those games because for the grandma's
- 30:49Speaker 9: like me, that second game starting as late as it did,
- 30:52Speaker 9: I'm not watching that.
- 30:53Speaker 3: I watched the highlights the next day.
- 30:54Speaker 5: I watched it. I watched it. I watched every minute
- 30:57Speaker 5: of it. I watched the first half. Penix is excellent.
- 31:00Speaker 5: He's an excellent college quarterback. I mean he was really
- 31:04Speaker 5: really could last.
- 31:05Speaker 4: That first throw that he made that was like whoa.
- 31:07Speaker 9: From the highlights that I saw on Twitter, it just
- 31:09Speaker 9: looked like a video game, like it didn't look real
- 31:11Speaker 9: watching my.
- 31:12Speaker 5: Kind of guy throws it downfield too. Of this J
- 31:15Speaker 5: McCarthy like play Actors is gonna dump it in the
- 31:17Speaker 5: flat time.
- 31:17Speaker 6: I mean, just talking about talent goodness.
- 31:21Speaker 4: So it's left arm. It's unfortunate.
- 31:22Speaker 5: It is unfortunate. Watch it. Watch it.
- 31:28Speaker 1: I take offense with that.
- 31:30Speaker 5: Wat watch it flipped.
- 31:31Speaker 4: Yeah, I know it looks perfect, right.
- 31:33Speaker 6: Because everybody at me that Michael Pennix has bad mechanics.
- 31:37Speaker 5: This funny. He's just lefty. Like, if you watch it,
- 31:41Speaker 5: lefties look smooth.
- 31:42Speaker 6: If you watch it from a right the only one
- 31:44Speaker 6: hitting the righty perspective. It's fine. Now he does have
- 31:47Speaker 6: like kind of that Philip Rivers type release where it's
- 31:51Speaker 6: like a little bit lower than like the Brady over
- 31:53Speaker 6: the top release, but it's it's not like a broken
- 31:57Speaker 6: mechanically throwing motion.
- 31:59Speaker 5: He was so good last night. But how did they
- 32:01Speaker 5: almost blow that game? That was amazing?
- 32:04Speaker 6: The injury, the injury to h to the running back,
- 32:07Speaker 6: stop the clock and.
- 32:08Speaker 5: You know how you can avoid that, Take a knee
- 32:11Speaker 5: and let the clock run, just saying cost him.
- 32:15Speaker 1: All right, So we've set the table. There anything else
- 32:20Speaker 1: that we need to.
- 32:21Speaker 7: Bring up or no, some I mean some still some
- 32:24Speaker 7: fallout from Trent Brown kind of dragging into the you
- 32:27Speaker 7: know that stuff, but you.
- 32:29Speaker 1: Know, yeah, I mean Bill, I mean, he never would,
- 32:32Speaker 1: but he certainly didn't pooh pooh the idea that you know,
- 32:37Speaker 1: he was in hot water and that's why he didn't travel.
- 32:39Speaker 4: Yeah, you know, I mean I saw.
- 32:41Speaker 7: I mean, I don't know the exact numbers of how
- 32:43Speaker 7: much he lost out on that, but I mean, I
- 32:46Speaker 7: I'd be surprised.
- 32:47Speaker 4: If he finishes the season here. I don't know.
- 32:49Speaker 7: I mean, does it make sense just to not dress
- 32:51Speaker 7: him for the last one? Or do you cut him
- 32:52Speaker 7: this week?
- 32:53Speaker 6: I'll give credit to Vadian Low, like I would much
- 32:56Speaker 6: rather see Vaderian Low for whatever reason.
- 32:58Speaker 5: I don't know why. Like it's not like Darian Low.
- 33:00Speaker 5: It's a big part.
- 33:01Speaker 6: But he's been much better at left tackle than right tackle,
- 33:05Speaker 6: much better. Like I think that that's his natural position,
- 33:08Speaker 6: that's where he played in college. And uh, he he
- 33:11Speaker 6: allowed two hurries in this game. Uh, and it really
- 33:13Speaker 6: wasn't It wasn't a huge issue.
- 33:15Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 33:16Speaker 4: In the middle though, Huh. I saw some of the
- 33:17Speaker 4: way we could get to that. Yeah, I mean, and
- 33:20Speaker 4: all of them and all of them in the middle.
- 33:23Speaker 6: I hate to David Andrews is an all time, all
- 33:27Speaker 6: time great patriot to me, red jacket guy. I do
- 33:30Speaker 6: wonder if he's starting to slow down a little bit.
- 33:33Speaker 6: A long season he's been in Iron Man. He's played
- 33:35Speaker 6: like almost every offensive snap for them this year, and
- 33:39Speaker 6: it just I would say three out of the last
- 33:41Speaker 6: four games have been iffy and.
- 33:43Speaker 5: This was his worst game of the year.
- 33:44Speaker 4: Does he retire? That's what we were kind of talking about.
- 33:46Speaker 4: I just what more does he have to prove? I
- 33:48Speaker 4: don't know.
- 33:48Speaker 7: I mean, he's a banged up guy. He's played in
- 33:50Speaker 7: the trenches for a long time. He's got multiple super
- 33:52Speaker 7: Bowl thought.
- 33:53Speaker 1: It well, you know, initially, if Bill's gone, like he
- 33:58Speaker 1: has to look at.
- 33:59Speaker 5: That stage, I really want to reset.
- 34:01Speaker 1: Yeah, reset with a new coach, perhaps a new system,
- 34:05Speaker 1: you know, go.
- 34:05Speaker 4: To find a lot of energy to go through that transition.
- 34:08Speaker 1: Exactly, you know. Yeah, although I mean, like if he
- 34:11Speaker 1: wanted to, he's not a free agent, is he. I
- 34:14Speaker 1: was gonna say, if he wanted a backup job somewhere,
- 34:17Speaker 1: he could still be, you know, collecting a check elsewhere
- 34:20Speaker 1: in the NFL if he.
- 34:21Speaker 9: Wanted to, I was going to say, on the flip
- 34:22Speaker 9: side though, to be a part of something fresh with
- 34:24Speaker 9: a new quarterback and hopefully get a lot of help
- 34:27Speaker 9: on the roster.
- 34:28Speaker 3: He could want to see what happens.
- 34:29Speaker 5: Yeah, So I just don't think he's a backup.
- 34:32Speaker 6: No, No, I just think it's tough because when you
- 34:34Speaker 6: watch it, like how much is he making.
- 34:37Speaker 5: Up for the rookie guards? Right?
- 34:38Speaker 6: Like City Show is on one side of him, Mafi's
- 34:40Speaker 6: on the other side.
- 34:41Speaker 5: I thought the early sack was responsible for that. Yeah,
- 34:45Speaker 5: he's like they had a stunt inside. It looked like
- 34:47Speaker 5: he was trying to do too much?
- 34:48Speaker 6: Yeah, and he's I would agree that that is part
- 34:51Speaker 6: of it. And how much of the communication inside Like
- 34:53Speaker 6: they're just getting destroyed by twists up front, Like they
- 34:56Speaker 6: can't pick up a stunt to say, there.
- 34:57Speaker 5: Had some big guys in on sacks and that game
- 35:01Speaker 5: like that you don't expect to be really Yeah, I
- 35:03Speaker 5: just their.
- 35:04Speaker 6: Picks and stunts up front, like they can't pick any
- 35:07Speaker 6: of it up, and like how much of that is
- 35:09Speaker 6: just a lack of communication and a lack of awareness
- 35:12Speaker 6: by the younger guys, and David Andrews is just getting
- 35:14Speaker 6: left out to dry, you know.
- 35:15Speaker 1: By the communication has been a big issue. Tamara brought
- 35:19Speaker 1: up the idea of a new quarterback, So we should
- 35:22Speaker 1: at least update people on the current draft status for
- 35:25Speaker 1: the Patriots as a result of the Cardinals winning. Right now,
- 35:29Speaker 1: I think they sit in the third spot. There's a
- 35:31Speaker 1: chance they could get back to the two spot.
- 35:33Speaker 5: Correct.
- 35:34Speaker 1: Somebody from nets and Dakota Remington cold forty five, what's
- 35:38Speaker 1: his name?
- 35:38Speaker 5: Coda Randall?
- 35:39Speaker 1: Coda Randall.
- 35:42Speaker 4: I got some project.
- 35:44Speaker 6: I had all the permutations. Yeah, I was talking to
- 35:46Speaker 6: him about it in the press box on sea.
- 35:48Speaker 1: He did a thing, which I appreciate somebody doing that
- 35:51Speaker 1: kind of work about all the different ways the Patriots
- 35:55Speaker 1: could move up or down, and a lot has to happen,
- 35:58Speaker 1: you know, either way to get the two or get
- 36:00Speaker 1: down to I think the worst they could be a six, right.
- 36:04Speaker 5: I had heard seven, but I don't know.
- 36:06Speaker 7: Yeah, but it's so weird with the strength of schedule stuff,
- 36:09Speaker 7: because I think, like the Atlanta game has like a
- 36:11Speaker 7: significant impact on this. The schedule stuff, like there's it's
- 36:15Speaker 7: just it's so hard to figure out every game is
- 36:17Speaker 7: going to impact it a little bit.
- 36:18Speaker 1: But if they stay at three, I mean they're in
- 36:21Speaker 1: the running for at least Drake May, I would think, right,
- 36:24Speaker 1: because now there's a big movement in Chicago to keep Fields. Now,
- 36:29Speaker 1: I don't know what that means to the front office,
- 36:31Speaker 1: but like fans are like clamoring to keep them.
- 36:34Speaker 5: Oh, I think there's a possibility of that. But I
- 36:36Speaker 5: would say that they're going to trade if that, Oh.
- 36:39Speaker 1: Yeah, but they could trade with the Patriots.
- 36:42Speaker 5: Well yeah, but then then you lose resources that you
- 36:45Speaker 5: don't have.
- 36:46Speaker 1: But if you love Drake May or if you love
- 36:48Speaker 1: Caleb Williams and you can do it that way, then
- 36:51Speaker 1: you probably need to do that, right, Yeah, they're not
- 36:55Speaker 1: going to be in next year's draft, they're in this
- 36:56Speaker 1: year's draft.
- 36:57Speaker 10: No.
- 36:58Speaker 7: I mean Washington's going to need a quarterback too, So
- 37:00Speaker 7: I mean if they get to two.
- 37:01Speaker 5: And the other part of that is to go back
- 37:03Speaker 5: to the way you started the show with how big
- 37:05Speaker 5: this game is. Yeah, I feel it. Wales feels like
- 37:10Speaker 5: they're gonna win it.
- 37:11Speaker 1: I think they are going to win it.
- 37:12Speaker 5: And you know that drops you down probably five anyway,
- 37:17Speaker 5: you know, to someone someone's going to win.
- 37:19Speaker 4: It's what I hate about it.
- 37:20Speaker 7: It's like you could lose the game to the Jets
- 37:23Speaker 7: and get the quarterback and then dominate the Jets for
- 37:25Speaker 7: you know, in theory if it all work perfectly.
- 37:28Speaker 4: Like it's just such a weird conundrum.
- 37:29Speaker 7: I wish it was not like this where you want
- 37:32Speaker 7: to lose so that therefore we can continue to beat
- 37:34Speaker 7: the Jets with someone new.
- 37:35Speaker 1: Like what was the game against Miami where I think
- 37:38Speaker 1: with Castle threw the ball in the stands.
- 37:40Speaker 5: Yeah, but that was the two point conversion to set
- 37:43Speaker 5: up a playoff matchup with Jackson.
- 37:45Speaker 1: Right, So they there been an example of Pittsburgh, But
- 37:50Speaker 1: I can't see the Patriots losing this game, so I can't.
- 37:53Speaker 9: But what happens if the Cardinals they played the Seahawks.
- 37:56Speaker 9: So if the Cardinals beat the Seahawks and the Patriots
- 37:58Speaker 9: beat the Jets.
- 38:00Speaker 7: But then there's also washing open your stats book and
- 38:04Speaker 7: it's it's it'll may give you an ice cream headache
- 38:07Speaker 7: trying to think about it.
- 38:08Speaker 4: That's why I like, I don't know, let's just let's
- 38:11Speaker 4: let's talk after the.
- 38:12Speaker 5: Assuming the Giants lose, the Giant strength of schedule is
- 38:14Speaker 5: very close to the Patriots. So if the Patriots end
- 38:17Speaker 5: up winning.
- 38:17Speaker 4: Another team probably in the market.
- 38:20Speaker 5: So if they start, you know what they want, A
- 38:22Speaker 5: big contract.
- 38:23Speaker 1: They gave that nobody could. Oh sorry, I said, if
- 38:26Speaker 1: they start Mac, then we know what they're doing.
- 38:28Speaker 4: They start Nathan Ryk.
- 38:30Speaker 3: They already said, they already said that that be starting.
- 38:32Speaker 5: So let me ask you who said that.
- 38:34Speaker 3: Bill O'Brien, o'briandon this morning.
- 38:37Speaker 5: So now we're just announced quarterback.
- 38:39Speaker 6: He's been doing that. He's been doing that.
- 38:42Speaker 5: I've seen him say a lot of those decisions aren't mine.
- 38:46Speaker 5: Earlier it was a coin toss.
- 38:48Speaker 6: Yeah, when it was Mac and yeah, since since Zappi
- 38:51Speaker 6: has been interesting He also said it after the Dallas
- 38:53Speaker 6: game or the New Orleans game, one of those games,
- 38:55Speaker 6: that it's going to be it's gonna be Mac like
- 38:58Speaker 6: he's given us a bone everyone in a while.
- 39:00Speaker 1: Yeah, and I can't see any reason not oh no,
- 39:02Speaker 1: Zappy this week?
- 39:03Speaker 5: Did you think it any chance of a change on
- 39:06Speaker 5: Sunday because a lot of people, a lot of people
- 39:09Speaker 5: were clamoring for Yeah, I was not.
- 39:11Speaker 3: One of it.
- 39:13Speaker 5: I was not one of those clamoring.
- 39:17Speaker 1: Somebody's sitting next to me, Oh they should.
- 39:20Speaker 6: Bring in Mack and like no, no.
- 39:22Speaker 1: But then there was a play I forget what it was,
- 39:24Speaker 1: and I said, yeah, maybe I.
- 39:25Speaker 5: Have to say when the third interception happened. Now we're
- 39:28Speaker 5: on TV, so like we don't get the all twenty two.
- 39:32Speaker 5: You know, when I saw when I saw the when
- 39:34Speaker 5: I saw the interception, I was like thinking to myself,
- 39:38Speaker 5: you got to get him out. And then they immediately
- 39:40Speaker 5: showed the replay and it was clear it wasn't him.
- 39:42Speaker 5: It was clear that there was a miscommunication on the play.
- 39:45Speaker 5: And I was like, Okay, I think.
- 39:46Speaker 1: That's the one where I said, yeah, maybe you bring
- 39:48Speaker 1: it that.
- 39:48Speaker 6: That was the one that I didn't put on ZAPPI
- 39:52Speaker 6: like that was definitely a Jalen Raker sided just issue.
- 39:56Speaker 6: But I would say that the first two, like the fact,
- 39:58Speaker 6: you know, we can get into the PBF thing if
- 40:00Speaker 6: you want, the fact that none of them are his fault.
- 40:03Speaker 5: I don't. Honestly, I don't care enough to get into it.
- 40:06Speaker 5: I just thought I just thought it was funny that
- 40:08Speaker 5: the guy had had three interceptions and none of them
- 40:11Speaker 5: were deemed turnover worthy plays.
- 40:14Speaker 6: The first one, he's a beat late to it, Like
- 40:16Speaker 6: you can't throw a quick game, and you can't double
- 40:18Speaker 6: hitch on a quick game, like if you're gonna if
- 40:20Speaker 6: you're gonna throw a curl flat quick game, that ball's
- 40:22Speaker 6: gotta be out before GICKI turns around, like you can't.
- 40:25Speaker 5: Just like the same kind of thing, like if you
- 40:28Speaker 5: have like a screen, you know how like a lot
- 40:30Speaker 5: of times you have a misdirection screen and you turn
- 40:33Speaker 5: without looking and just throw it. So those are not
- 40:35Speaker 5: turnover worthy plays if they get picked on.
- 40:37Speaker 6: No, So the reason why the first one wasn't a
- 40:39Speaker 6: turnover worthy play is because at Oliver made a ridiculous
- 40:42Speaker 6: diving interception.
- 40:44Speaker 5: But when you throw the ball on a slant and
- 40:46Speaker 5: the other guy hits it first. That's a turnover worthy play.
- 40:49Speaker 5: Douglas could have caught that one too.
- 40:50Speaker 6: Yeah, which one the.
- 40:52Speaker 5: First one Douglas got inside? I think it was Parker right,
- 40:55Speaker 5: Parker inside, Douglas got inside. The snoffs on both of that.
- 41:03Speaker 5: That was in my mind. Like the first one is late,
- 41:06Speaker 5: like and he said it after the game. The first
- 41:07Speaker 5: one is late.
- 41:08Speaker 1: The guy was just sitting there waiting.
- 41:09Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 41:10Speaker 6: The second one is he read the wrong side of
- 41:12Speaker 6: the field first of all. Second of all is it's
- 41:15Speaker 6: an absolute telegraph telegraph pass and he's just staring down
- 41:19Speaker 6: the slant waiting for DeVante Parker to make it cut.
- 41:22Speaker 6: It's like, what do you think Rasul Douglas is gonna do?
- 41:24Speaker 6: He jumps it. I thought both of those plays, look,
- 41:27Speaker 6: we can all it was a terrible route by DeVante Parker.
- 41:31Speaker 6: It was you know GASICKI could he have tried to
- 41:33Speaker 6: box out Rissell Douglas a little bit more. It was
- 41:36Speaker 6: a bad luck that it got tipped up in the
- 41:38Speaker 6: air and it Oliver picked it off shore. Fine, but
- 41:40Speaker 6: like you have to at least give some of the
- 41:42Speaker 6: blampie to the corner.
- 41:44Speaker 5: First one, the one that was the one that he
- 41:48Speaker 5: was underneath them, Like, you can't throw a slant if
- 41:50Speaker 5: the guy's got that position.
- 41:51Speaker 1: Gasicki had a step, but the other guy was just waiting,
- 41:55Speaker 1: you know when they open there.
- 41:56Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean there's so there's a there's a nickel
- 41:59Speaker 6: that that he's reading right the cornerback and when the
- 42:02Speaker 6: corner goes with farrow Brown into the flat, that triggers
- 42:04Speaker 6: for him to throw the curl and he just takes
- 42:07Speaker 6: an extra beat in the pocket to make the decision
- 42:10Speaker 6: and the ball is late and that's how you get
- 42:11Speaker 6: the tip.
- 42:12Speaker 5: I would also say the quick out that he threw
- 42:14Speaker 5: through Ajpanessa was probably a turnover worthy play. I'm just
- 42:18Speaker 5: saying because that one he was looking at, he was
- 42:20Speaker 5: looking where he was throwing, and he literally threw it
- 42:23Speaker 5: through number fifty seven for the Bills.
- 42:25Speaker 6: Yeah, this was this game worried me for Zapi because
- 42:28Speaker 6: the Bills play a lot of zone coverage. They play
- 42:30Speaker 6: their a soft zone team, and they have a decent
- 42:32Speaker 6: pass rush, and Mac beat them in Week seven with
- 42:36Speaker 6: a quick release, short passes, get the ball out, get
- 42:39Speaker 6: it into space, all that sort of stuff, and that's
- 42:42Speaker 6: just not Zapi's game. And they had to dial up
- 42:44Speaker 6: deeper passing concepts in this game to cater to Zapi,
- 42:49Speaker 6: and he was under fifty eight percent pressure rate in
- 42:51Speaker 6: this game. And I don't think it was all because
- 42:53Speaker 6: the offensive line was bad. I think some of it
- 42:55Speaker 6: was him holding the ball and waiting for things to develop.
- 42:58Speaker 6: When you have an over three second average time to
- 43:00Speaker 6: throw and you are throwing a lot of screens in
- 43:03Speaker 6: a lot of quick game and it's still inflated to
- 43:05Speaker 6: three point three seconds, that tells you that the quarterback's
- 43:08Speaker 6: holding the ball.
- 43:08Speaker 1: U uh, all right, Tamara's food is here, So we'll
- 43:12Speaker 1: take a break. And when we come back, a lot
- 43:15Speaker 1: of emails, no calls eight five to five, pass five hundred.
- 43:17Speaker 1: I don't know. It's a problem with the phone's bat,
- 43:19Speaker 1: is it.
- 43:19Speaker 5: No?
- 43:20Speaker 1: Okay, well, that's all right. We get tons of emails,
- 43:24Speaker 1: so we're gonna get to them right after this.

- 44:22Speaker 13: They opening kick a sales and over end in his direction.
- 44:25Speaker 13: He'll feel from the left hash too straight ahead to
- 44:27Speaker 13: the ten to the fifteen to the twin birth of
- 44:29Speaker 13: Crod the thirty and.
- 44:30Speaker 11: He went to mass bits away to McField.
- 44:32Speaker 14: He's gone to the forty to the thirty left side,
- 44:34Speaker 14: twenty ten touchdown Patriots.
- 44:38Speaker 11: They turned the table probably where at the road when

- 44:44Speaker 14: Kickoff back from Buffalo Sex nothing new England.
- 44:48Speaker 11: Holy crap.
- 44:49Speaker 14: He played at the back foot at the one and
- 44:52Speaker 14: you saw this lane over the left side.
- 44:54Speaker 11: Top of the numbers creases it and he broke one tackles.
- 44:57Speaker 14: Then it was one on one with the kicker and
- 44:59Speaker 14: it's a bit move out and there ain't no flags.
- 45:03Speaker 13: It's gonna be a diving interception on the carrows peck
- 45:06Speaker 13: dock all. It takes the snap, lowers the shoulders with
- 45:09Speaker 13: knife in the left side to leave the Buffalo touch down.
- 45:12Speaker 11: Josh Allen grows.
- 45:14Speaker 13: Hena Douglas has another rising running across the thirty ankles
- 45:19Speaker 13: inside twenty five twenty fifteen to ten.
- 45:21Speaker 5: He's gonna be hit.
- 45:22Speaker 11: By Parker outside and.
- 45:24Speaker 14: Go line putting tumbles oom and my pick sacks ont
- 45:27Speaker 14: touch down Buffalo.
- 45:28Speaker 5: I'm not going to turnover by knowing good what.
- 45:31Speaker 11: Is he looking at?
- 45:33Speaker 14: I mean that jokes get loose because this kid ain't
- 45:36Speaker 14: see it today. And to be faird what do you
- 45:39Speaker 14: call for the other guy? He's gonna start calling for
- 45:42Speaker 14: the other guy here. That's another awful, awful throw.
- 45:45Speaker 1: To the left side. Nobody's there.
- 45:47Speaker 11: Three determined chunk it duck.
- 45:49Speaker 13: Get Sickney short motion from the left and baked to him.
- 45:52Speaker 13: With Zapy back in the pocket, he's gonna run it
- 45:54Speaker 13: to the left. He's got room to the tan, he's got.
- 45:56Speaker 11: Room to the foe. Get a clear lay to the
- 45:58Speaker 11: end zone. Touch down, hatreds. I want to tell two
- 46:04Speaker 11: quarters here, man.
- 46:04Speaker 14: I mean, if the offense doesn't have a chance, and
- 46:08Speaker 14: then they have a drive like this, you overcome a
- 46:10Speaker 14: potential fumble, then you have to drop and then you
- 46:13Speaker 14: got the big screen pass and then you fall asleep
- 46:15Speaker 14: from the backside defensively for seventeen yard scamper for your
- 46:19Speaker 14: quarterback's proven. He's got a bounce back from those three
- 46:22Speaker 14: early pigs.
- 46:23Speaker 11: I want to run by him. He knew Man was there.
- 46:26Speaker 11: He red Man well, and he got up through that
- 46:28Speaker 11: left side.
- 46:29Speaker 4: Now you get a chance.
- 46:31Speaker 13: The receiver's left with Allan in the boot leg, gave
- 46:33Speaker 13: him the pocket.
- 46:34Speaker 15: Off the play Bowl and he had to throw a
- 46:35Speaker 15: keapball down when upside friaking.
- 46:36Speaker 11: Got it, except that the lapsus and rons over and.
- 46:39Speaker 13: Makes the big plans inside the boundary and he tumbles
- 46:42Speaker 13: out of bounds with an interception against his original NFL
- 46:47Speaker 13: team at the Buffalo twelve.
- 46:49Speaker 11: Can you have two quarterbacks played worson of first time?
- 46:52Speaker 11: Can what did an awful telegraphs.
- 46:54Speaker 16: Throw that was horrible?
- 46:57Speaker 13: The snap of the spot, swinging with a leg, the
- 46:59Speaker 13: kick lifted to the uprights. That game is booking the gold.
- 47:03Speaker 11: Snugger roller coaster for that kid.
- 47:09Speaker 10: Boy.
- 47:10Speaker 14: They'll bump with the confidence from a week ago in
- 47:13Speaker 14: Denver hit the game winner.
- 47:15Speaker 1: And the problems.
- 47:15Speaker 11: You give Buffalo the ball back at thirty six.
- 47:18Speaker 5: He takes the staff, he gets the shot from Bowie.
- 47:20Speaker 11: He's into the end zone.
- 47:21Speaker 13: How a second time today Josh Allen touched down Buffalo.
- 47:26Speaker 14: It was easier to drive as you could draw up
- 47:28Speaker 14: thanks to the big play to bring the order back
- 47:29Speaker 14: in the game, winning wide open down middle the Floyd.
- 47:33Speaker 11: He just considered it seen as just calm found the rock.
- 47:36Speaker 11: After that, now you're dropping right.
- 47:40Speaker 13: Dona snabs you, Mary holds Ryley kicks and it clears
- 47:42Speaker 13: the line. That kick is sailing to the uprights. That
- 47:45Speaker 13: game about a technic lay man. They called the lay
- 47:49Speaker 13: game Stelas stopping in the lay the proceedings far to
- 47:54Speaker 13: the staff.
- 47:55Speaker 11: It's the play a game of I told you the last.
- 48:00Speaker 13: The team out and now the Patriots will keep burying
- 48:03Speaker 13: her out there.
- 48:04Speaker 14: Let's say he's Ryland to Bell because he chucked that
- 48:06Speaker 14: one too. We won't see him postgame.
- 48:09Speaker 13: The Patriots have a first. Who's going to go inside
- 48:11Speaker 13: the seven right? Ash Zapiana Center's lake.
- 48:15Speaker 1: Give it to Elliot coming right here right, stays at
- 48:19Speaker 1: his feet, carry hit.
- 48:20Speaker 11: You the touchdown dress man.
- 48:25Speaker 14: If we're in this game, that's crazy because you've got
- 48:29Speaker 14: so many people out. I mean, it's a lot of
- 48:31Speaker 14: backups in there, thirteen guys and the effort by Zake
- 48:34Speaker 14: Kelliott as I said, he's got a lot left in
- 48:36Speaker 14: his tank.
- 48:37Speaker 11: These guys had a good year playing his role.
- 48:41Speaker 1: That's a have an Allen up to.
- 48:42Speaker 11: He's bringing a different guy in exchange and all that. Yeah,
- 48:45Speaker 11: I will mean you're not up, not up twenty one.
- 48:48Speaker 5: I was six.
- 48:49Speaker 1: He's one back step man.
- 48:50Speaker 4: He's been on the sideline.
- 48:51Speaker 11: He's cold he's killing kidding.
- 48:53Speaker 1: I would look in the center.
- 48:54Speaker 13: He's got your tier behind him as the same dude
- 48:56Speaker 13: story strives to be left knee on a final play
- 49:00Speaker 13: in the final game.
- 49:01Speaker 17: In twenty twenty three, is.
- 49:03Speaker 13: The Patriots and the Bills part their separate ways, two
- 49:07Speaker 13: teams headed in vastly different directions. Buffalo will be ten
- 49:11Speaker 13: and six, Patriots have dropped to.
- 49:13Speaker 10: Four and twelve.
- 49:15Speaker 13: They guaranteed a last place finish for the first time
- 49:19Speaker 13: since two thousand as they drop it in Buffalo in
- 49:23Speaker 13: their road finale by a twenty seven twenty.
- 49:26Speaker 14: One final bottom line makes some plays in this game,
- 49:28Speaker 14: Yeah you did. Your defense played its teleoff.
- 49:30Speaker 5: The game.
- 49:31Speaker 1: Can't commit four turnovers.
- 49:32Speaker 14: In the first half, expect to beat anybody special district
- 49:34Speaker 14: their face.
- 49:36Speaker 11: I felt like this game was over into the first
- 49:38Speaker 11: happy bounce back. But one thing.
- 49:41Speaker 14: We talk about why these players, because of the lack
- 49:43Speaker 14: of ball security of his football team, they can't go
- 49:46Speaker 14: back to turn.
- 49:47Speaker 11: Over like that keeps you out of this league.
- 49:50Speaker 13: At play that position, different quarterbacks, higher scoring game, but
- 49:54Speaker 13: a microcosm of so many games this season. The defense
- 49:58Speaker 13: trying to do its part, and for the most part,
- 50:00Speaker 13: doing it to keep doing the game of the offensively
- 50:02Speaker 13: with too many.
- 50:03Speaker 11: Turnover or to hear your buddy.
- 50:04Speaker 5: Last road happy in.
- 50:06Speaker 13: Your ear last game coming up next week, but again
- 50:09Speaker 13: as the Patriots of the Bills wrap up the calendar
- 50:11Speaker 13: year of twenty twenty three. It's Buffalo twenty seven, Emma
- 50:15Speaker 13: Pats twenty one.
- 50:17Speaker 1: Milk all right back here in Patriots nfiltered eight five
- 50:23Speaker 1: to five pass five hundred. It's the A stick and
- 50:25Speaker 1: Hutline web radio at Patriots dot com as the email address.
- 50:29Speaker 1: You know, Zoe, I know the Patriots are playing tough
- 50:32Speaker 1: and hard to the finish, but Zoe sure isn't. I'm
- 50:35Speaker 1: looking at him fifth quarter. They he's got the mike
- 50:39Speaker 1: with no mike flag. He's got his fofy jacket that
- 50:42Speaker 1: he doesn't even take off.
- 50:43Speaker 13: You know.
- 50:44Speaker 1: Meanwhile, you know Roachie has got his nice you know
- 50:47Speaker 1: suit on. You know whoa yeah, Fred, Yeah, I mean,
- 50:52Speaker 1: come on, Zoe, I was you know.
- 50:54Speaker 5: Made me laugh on the third pick that was clearly
- 50:56Speaker 5: on Rager and not on Zappi. When he's watched it live,
- 51:00Speaker 5: he's like, you gotta get him out. You gotta be fair.
- 51:03Speaker 5: We said to make the move when the other kid
- 51:04Speaker 5: was in gotta make a and never mentioned anything about
- 51:08Speaker 5: the possibility that I was like a you know, a miscommunication.
- 51:12Speaker 1: Another funny ninety eight point five story. So we're getting
- 51:18Speaker 1: to Buffalo, and we land in Buffalo and it was
- 51:21Speaker 1: a hard landing, and Mark Cappella, who is the producer
- 51:25Speaker 1: of the broadcast, is one row behind me diagonally and
- 51:31Speaker 1: his glasses go flying. His coffee and his phone, you know, goes.
- 51:37Speaker 1: So we land and he's looking, finds the glasses, can't
- 51:40Speaker 1: find his phone. So, like the whole plane is like looking, looking, looking,
- 51:45Speaker 1: can't find it. The buses leave, He's still on the
- 51:47Speaker 1: plane looking with the flight attendants and the crew. They
- 51:51Speaker 1: can't find it. And it turns out his phone fell
- 51:55Speaker 1: in the backpack of the person sitting next to him,
- 51:59Speaker 1: and the person in the with the backpack took it
- 52:01Speaker 1: and left, and they didn't find it till later. Yeah,
- 52:05Speaker 1: who was the person?
- 52:06Speaker 4: Was it?
- 52:06Speaker 1: Somebody? Somebody from ninety point five?
- 52:08Speaker 5: Yeah, that's unbelievable.
- 52:10Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm sure he had a lot of people to
- 52:12Speaker 4: tell the story about it like that, but they couldn't
- 52:14Speaker 4: find it anywhere.
- 52:15Speaker 1: But you know, he was getting it all weekend, right.
- 52:17Speaker 1: Do you know where your phone is you get your phone?
- 52:19Speaker 4: So what was up with the hard landing?
- 52:20Speaker 5: Though? Oh yeah, he's Buffalo.
- 52:22Speaker 4: He just came down.
- 52:22Speaker 1: We came down and you know like sometimes he goes
- 52:25Speaker 1: left to right, you know cross, So to uh.
- 52:28Speaker 6: Full context here, I was told by Tony Flanna again,
- 52:32Speaker 6: the Great Tony Flann again that if you're military trained,
- 52:35Speaker 6: defy planes that because because they land on aircraft carriers,
- 52:40Speaker 6: they land immediately. There's no you know, coast into the landing.
- 52:44Speaker 6: And so he thinks that our our pilot, baby boy, isn't.
- 52:48Speaker 6: Yeah I was trained by top Gun.
- 52:50Speaker 5: Yeah, which I don't.
- 52:52Speaker 4: We're also doing to Buffalo on the way home a
- 52:55Speaker 4: barrel roll.
- 52:56Speaker 6: You know, Well, if he's trained by top gun, then
- 52:58Speaker 6: it's good in my book.
- 52:59Speaker 1: Yeah, that's what I'm saying, Like, if we get into
- 53:02Speaker 1: a you know, into trouble up in the air where
- 53:05Speaker 1: we're in good shape, or if we want or if we.
- 53:07Speaker 6: Want to play like beach volleyball or something, will be great.
- 53:10Speaker 4: Right play with the boys.
- 53:11Speaker 1: But it was it was pretty funny. We just couldn't
- 53:16Speaker 1: find his phone. It's like it went into the vortex.
- 53:19Speaker 1: We just couldn't find it. So whose series going on?
- 53:22Speaker 5: It's not mine.
- 53:23Speaker 6: It wasn't mine. I just looked.
- 53:25Speaker 5: I don't know any weird.
- 53:26Speaker 1: Uh So I just want to read this email. This
- 53:30Speaker 1: is Steve in Arizona. As far as Penix goes. While
- 53:33Speaker 1: I recognize the talent, he's had four seasons then with
- 53:36Speaker 1: injuries and a chrome chromo clavicular joint separation, left throwing shoulder,
- 53:43Speaker 1: twenty a right stern clavicular a cl injuries both eighteen
- 53:51Speaker 1: and twenty plus. He'll be twenty four in May. To me,
- 53:54Speaker 1: he'll be he'd be a risk as a backup, never
- 53:57Speaker 1: mind as QB one, and certainly not a first round pick.
- 54:00Speaker 5: Oh, the last part might be true. Okay, So come on.
- 54:03Speaker 6: The one thing, the one thing about all of this
- 54:07Speaker 6: that's gonna piss me off the most. I'm going to
- 54:09Speaker 6: tell you this right now. Okay, if you want to
- 54:11Speaker 6: bring up his injury history, that's the book. Okay, Like
- 54:15Speaker 6: he's an injured player. Like he's been injured multiple times.
- 54:19Speaker 6: That's why he's not being talked about. Is the number
- 54:21Speaker 6: one pick in the draft? Let alone, you know, a
- 54:23Speaker 6: second round pick?
- 54:24Speaker 1: Okay?
- 54:24Speaker 5: Well, no, no, no, I'm not done, not done.
- 54:27Speaker 6: Hey, Hey, the fact that he is twenty four years
- 54:30Speaker 6: old is because he got hurt earlier on in his
- 54:33Speaker 6: career and this whole like breakout age thing like this
- 54:37Speaker 6: is I'm gonna argue with my fellow nerds on this one.
- 54:40Speaker 6: Breakout age is the most ridiculous draft stat I've ever
- 54:43Speaker 6: heard in my life, like breakout age because the kid
- 54:46Speaker 6: I've never even heard of it.
- 54:47Speaker 5: So everybody.
- 54:48Speaker 6: The reason, the reason why it matters that he's twenty
- 54:50Speaker 6: four is because people are saying that he's not a
- 54:53Speaker 6: truly blue chip elite talent because it took him five
- 54:56Speaker 6: years in college to start to play like this.
- 54:59Speaker 1: Oh no, I think it's it's the reason why they
- 55:02Speaker 1: don't like the fact that he's twenty four is that
- 55:04Speaker 1: he's closer to the end of his career.
- 55:06Speaker 6: No, that's not why I'm telling you that. The reason
- 55:09Speaker 6: why the nerds bring up his age is because, like
- 55:12Speaker 6: a guy like, just to use an example, somebody like
- 55:15Speaker 6: Jamar Chase who broke out at nineteen and is just
- 55:18Speaker 6: out of the gate at blue chip, incredible NFL prospect,
- 55:22Speaker 6: he has a much higher ceiling to people than somebody
- 55:26Speaker 6: like Pennix because Pennix is older and is considered a
- 55:29Speaker 6: finished product. Right, like he's matured and this is what
- 55:33Speaker 6: he's going to be. This is him maxed out.
- 55:35Speaker 1: No, But to your point, if he's missed a lot
- 55:37Speaker 1: of time with injury, he never had a chance.
- 55:39Speaker 5: Correct, Right.
- 55:39Speaker 6: So that's why the context of every individual player in
- 55:42Speaker 6: his age matters. Kyle Dugger was an older prospect because
- 55:47Speaker 6: it took him a while to mature into an NFL prospect.
- 55:50Speaker 6: Michael Penix had a bunch of injuries where he had
- 55:53Speaker 6: Indiana in the top ten of the AP pole in
- 55:56Speaker 6: twenty twenty and would have been a big time NFL
- 56:00Speaker 6: prospect two years ago, three years ago if it wasn't
- 56:04Speaker 6: for the fact that he had all these injuries. So
- 56:06Speaker 6: the whole story with him is about injuries.
- 56:09Speaker 5: I think that's one of those case by case bases
- 56:11Speaker 5: kind of right, you know, because I would full disclosure.
- 56:15Speaker 5: I fall into that all the time. You know, there's
- 56:18Speaker 5: a reason why when the guys declare early for the draft,
- 56:21Speaker 5: those are the guys that all generally go quick because
- 56:23Speaker 5: more time, well they're better. It's not like it's not
- 56:27Speaker 5: just about it, because no one would argue if you
- 56:29Speaker 5: draft Michael Penix and he's twenty four and you get
- 56:32Speaker 5: a good fifteen years out of them. What's wrong with that?
- 56:34Speaker 1: Nothing?
- 56:35Speaker 5: I mean is that out of the realm of possibility
- 56:37Speaker 5: to go from twenty four to thirty nine for an
- 56:39Speaker 5: NFL career. That's the quarterback.
- 56:40Speaker 6: That's the other thing is his position. Like if he
- 56:43Speaker 6: was a receiver, if he was a corner or something
- 56:45Speaker 6: like that, and he was an advanced age player, I
- 56:48Speaker 6: would say, Okay, that deck gives me pause. But if
- 56:51Speaker 6: you're hoping that he's going to be your quarterback for
- 56:52Speaker 6: the next decade, he's still only thirty four.
- 56:54Speaker 5: Years old, right, So why that? Like case by case
- 56:57Speaker 5: right now? I do in general, I do kind of
- 57:01Speaker 5: look at the early entries as being more talented.
- 57:05Speaker 6: Christian Gonzales, but early entry.
- 57:07Speaker 1: But I would, I would, you know, be cautious and
- 57:11Speaker 1: I'd want my doctors to look at him because is
- 57:14Speaker 1: there something structural with him.
- 57:16Speaker 5: That That's what I would have question prone to tras
- 57:19Speaker 5: a c L again because he's done it.
- 57:21Speaker 6: Twice, right, That's the whole conversation. Yeah, is his injuries,
- 57:24Speaker 6: and there's a really good chance that he falls out
- 57:26Speaker 6: of the first round because of that. But in terms
- 57:28Speaker 6: of his what he's put on the field, basically going
- 57:32Speaker 6: all the way back to Indiana. He's been a hell
- 57:34Speaker 6: of a quarterback.
- 57:35Speaker 5: And I remember watching him in Indiana and Indiana Stakes
- 57:38Speaker 5: every single Oh yeah, they were really good.
- 57:41Speaker 17: Yeah.
- 57:42Speaker 5: When he played, they had a receiver that I really
- 57:44Speaker 5: liked too, And I can't remember his name. I think
- 57:45Speaker 5: he was number eight, no number I forget all right.
- 57:50Speaker 1: Marvin writes in from uh I believe he's in Uh. Yes,
- 57:54Speaker 1: he's in North Carolina. Uh Fred. I want to hear
- 57:57Speaker 1: Paul's take on the rest call at the end of
- 58:00Speaker 1: the Detroit Dallas game.
- 58:02Speaker 5: I think everybody's already heard all of the takes, you know.
- 58:05Speaker 5: I think everybody's already hasn't heard your take, so I
- 58:08Speaker 5: don't really have one that's any different. That's my only point.
- 58:11Speaker 5: It's like, I mean, based on what I saw, it
- 58:14Speaker 5: looked to me like Brad Allen was talking to Sewell
- 58:19Speaker 5: and Decker and then saw Skipper coming in and didn't
- 58:23Speaker 5: even wait for him to get there. He just went
- 58:25Speaker 5: and said seventies because he's been reporting all games, right,
- 58:28Speaker 5: So that's what I think happened, But no one knows
- 58:33Speaker 5: because you can't hear it, and you have to rely
- 58:36Speaker 5: on what people are saying the Lions say that Decker
- 58:39Speaker 5: reported and Skipper didn't. Alan's saying that Skipper reported and
- 58:43Speaker 5: Decker didn't. Here's a way to sort of avoid this stuff.
- 58:49Speaker 5: The referee has a mic, right, why shouldn't it just
- 58:52Speaker 5: be open all the time, you know, not open to
- 58:55Speaker 5: the public.
- 58:56Speaker 1: But just transparency.
- 58:58Speaker 5: Yeah, a little transparency that way we know who's lyon.
- 59:00Speaker 1: God, you know that that would be something, but you know,
- 59:04Speaker 1: God forbid they you know.
- 59:05Speaker 5: And again not open, so like the whole game, like
- 59:08Speaker 5: you know how sometimes the reference and everybody laughs, you know,
- 59:12Speaker 5: not that open, not like that, but.
- 59:14Speaker 4: Like kind of like a body cam on.
- 59:16Speaker 5: Yes, you can hear and then you can go back.
- 59:18Speaker 5: It's like when you have a player miked up.
- 59:21Speaker 1: For those like sometimes we're in the press box and
- 59:24Speaker 1: the Michael forget to turn off these forget to turn
- 59:27Speaker 1: off his mic and nothing gets a press box howling, Oh,
- 59:30Speaker 1: than to hear Mike forget about you know, it's like, oh,
- 59:34Speaker 1: no matter what he says, ah, you know, they.
- 59:36Speaker 6: Just when people bring up Michael Pennix's age, that's it.
- 59:38Speaker 6: That's the only other thing.
- 59:39Speaker 5: So like the Brad Allen thing, you know, he's been
- 59:42Speaker 5: involved in some of these games now, and at some
- 59:46Speaker 5: point there has to be repercussions. I was I think
- 59:48Speaker 5: they got I pissed the Yeah, the Lions. I think
- 59:52Speaker 5: the Lions got screwed. But I also think the Lions
- 59:54Speaker 5: contributed to it by trying to intentionally be yes, uh no, vague.
- 1:00:00Speaker 5: I think they try to pull a Patriot because I
- 1:00:01Speaker 5: never saw the metal.
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: I never saw sixty eight go like, you know, like this.
- 1:00:05Speaker 6: Apparently nobody signaled on the shirt that it was all verbal, right.
- 1:00:09Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:00:10Speaker 6: My other favorite part about the road is that, like
- 1:00:13Speaker 6: when there's a Saturday night game, the Sunday morning, before
- 1:00:16Speaker 6: the buses leave, we talked about this and it's like
- 1:00:20Speaker 6: everybody's got an opinion, everybody's got a way in. I
- 1:00:23Speaker 6: just that the Lions. Everybody's given the Lions the benefit
- 1:00:27Speaker 6: of the doubt. And my whole thing is why they're
- 1:00:29Speaker 6: the Lions. But this is things up for my entirety.
- 1:00:32Speaker 5: This is my point. Just let us hear and then
- 1:00:35Speaker 5: that way I don't have to take. Now here's my
- 1:00:37Speaker 5: problem with Brad Allen specifically, did you hear the did
- 1:00:41Speaker 5: you read the pool.
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: Report at all a little bit?
- 1:00:43Speaker 5: Yeah, So he goes to the whole thing, and he says,
- 1:00:45Speaker 5: seventy reported sixty eight did not. Okay, whatever, I think
- 1:00:49Speaker 5: we can all sort of have our opinion as to
- 1:00:51Speaker 5: whether or not we think he's telling the truth. Then
- 1:00:53Speaker 5: he said something along the lines of they also were
- 1:00:57Speaker 5: in a legal formation, so even because he was covered up,
- 1:01:01Speaker 5: you didn't call it exactly. Yeah, so that's a lie. Yeah,
- 1:01:05Speaker 5: because I've seen a million examples of there are two
- 1:01:08Speaker 5: fouls on the play, both against the offense, illegal shift,
- 1:01:12Speaker 5: that penalty has declined. Blah blah blah blah blah. Right,
- 1:01:14Speaker 5: they didn't do that, so you can tell me that
- 1:01:17Speaker 5: you had another penalty anyway. So even if I got
- 1:01:19Speaker 5: it right, they wouldn't have counted because he was covered up.
- 1:01:22Speaker 5: That's not what you called on the field. It's just
- 1:01:25Speaker 5: I mean, there's no difference between that and letting a
- 1:01:27Speaker 5: blatant holds go. Yeah, you didn't call it on the field,
- 1:01:30Speaker 5: so it didn't happen.
- 1:01:31Speaker 1: And you know, to Paul's point, with the transparency, they
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: might have to move in that direction because with more
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: and more and more casual fans now betting because it's legal,
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: you can't have the public losing confidence in the officials.
- 1:01:47Speaker 7: It's just so hard to imagine these guys are like
- 1:01:49Speaker 7: going home working a job during the week, you know,
- 1:01:52Speaker 7: at whatever the law firm that they're at, and then
- 1:01:54Speaker 7: you know, I just I don't know for sure though
- 1:01:56Speaker 7: that the answer is that if they're in ref school
- 1:01:58Speaker 7: all week and reviewing, that's doing those things, that it's
- 1:02:01Speaker 7: really going to make that much of a difference.
- 1:02:03Speaker 4: But it's just it's it's just strange to have this.
- 1:02:06Speaker 7: Multi billion dollar industry all kind of hinging on part time.
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: I think Paul Paul should open up a business. It
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: should be the Paul Perillo School of officiating in time
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: clock management.
- 1:02:17Speaker 6: He is good at the clock manager. You would have
- 1:02:19Speaker 6: helped Andy Reid.
- 1:02:20Speaker 4: Back in the day, well he did consult.
- 1:02:24Speaker 5: The maybe like like you're you're right, friend. I think
- 1:02:28Speaker 5: it is trending to to a change in that direction.
- 1:02:31Speaker 5: And I think it's very like you have that replay
- 1:02:33Speaker 5: booth and you know the sky judge so to speak,
- 1:02:35Speaker 5: that they kind of sort of use, you know, they
- 1:02:39Speaker 5: fixed plays quickly now, which I think is a step
- 1:02:42Speaker 5: in the right direction. They do it in those other
- 1:02:45Speaker 5: leagues like the USFL. I think did it let us
- 1:02:48Speaker 5: hear it like it's not the whole game.
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: Look, yeah, let's hear what they're saying.
- 1:02:52Speaker 5: Like at least so that what let's just say there's
- 1:02:55Speaker 5: a replay judge, right, he has access to everything communication
- 1:03:00Speaker 5: wise that's going on on the field, and if it's
- 1:03:03Speaker 5: something like this that we need to hear later, we
- 1:03:06Speaker 5: can hear it. Because I think what bothers people is
- 1:03:11Speaker 5: John Parody was the guy, he was the official in
- 1:03:13Speaker 5: the booth. Yes, and it's like, and you know why
- 1:03:18Speaker 5: he's butchering it, ev He's he's just this guy. Yeah,
- 1:03:21Speaker 5: he's just well, it's the onus is on the player there.
- 1:03:24Speaker 5: I mean, what so in other words, you don't just
- 1:03:28Speaker 5: have to report, you have to knock the guy over
- 1:03:29Speaker 5: and say, hey, you make sure I do actually that
- 1:03:32Speaker 5: you get this, but I don't understand.
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: So they have to make a public announcement. You know,
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: number seventy is reported to be eligible at that point,
- 1:03:40Speaker 1: doesn't Dan Campbell say whoa who who wo? No, that's
- 1:03:43Speaker 1: not right.
- 1:03:43Speaker 5: I'm not even paying I'm on my headsets, I'm calling the.
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: Play somebody Jared Goff or whoever, somebody.
- 1:03:52Speaker 5: I don't think that that's something that you'd be even
- 1:03:54Speaker 5: paying attention to Okay, like I'm calling the play in
- 1:03:57Speaker 5: the huddle, the game's on the line, I'm not listening
- 1:03:59Speaker 5: to what the reference saying to the other team.
- 1:04:01Speaker 6: I guess I do agree that, like with the point though,
- 1:04:04Speaker 6: that the onus is on the player, like my report. Yeah,
- 1:04:08Speaker 6: like Mike Rabel, I don't know if it was recently
- 1:04:10Speaker 6: or whatever, but he talked about it because obviously he
- 1:04:13Speaker 6: had to report. He would come on the field, and
- 1:04:15Speaker 6: he said that he would like grab the ref like
- 1:04:18Speaker 6: and look eye to eye with him and be like,
- 1:04:21Speaker 6: I am reporting.
- 1:04:21Speaker 5: As don't you feel like Decker did that? It didn't
- 1:04:25Speaker 5: look like what I don't know what he did. I'm
- 1:04:28Speaker 5: saying that the huddles here, Brad Allen and Decker are
- 1:04:32Speaker 5: over here and and right right. That's why I think
- 1:04:36Speaker 5: they were trying to be vag But what else could
- 1:04:39Speaker 5: he possibly be saying?
- 1:04:40Speaker 1: Yeah, it was weird because there were two people with
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: the ref and then seventy comes running over like.
- 1:04:45Speaker 5: And if you watch it, as seventy gets about halfway there,
- 1:04:49Speaker 5: he gives Brad Allen leaves right, Brad Allen never let
- 1:04:52Speaker 5: seventy get within earshot. Yeah, and yet he just determined
- 1:04:56Speaker 5: that he was the guy that was reporting, right, so
- 1:04:58Speaker 5: it was weird. So I do think that they ma
- 1:05:00Speaker 5: a mistake, but I think part of it is the
- 1:05:01Speaker 5: lion's fault.
- 1:05:02Speaker 4: I file it too.
- 1:05:03Speaker 7: It's just what happened here with the balls, Like it's
- 1:05:05Speaker 7: just the rest showing inattention to detail and these little
- 1:05:08Speaker 7: things that are just kind of slipping through the cracks
- 1:05:10Speaker 7: and it's like, huh, sorry, we didn't know.
- 1:05:12Speaker 5: And I think that people wouldn't be I think what
- 1:05:15Speaker 5: I don't know about you, but what I get incensed
- 1:05:19Speaker 5: after the fact when you're seeing something and you clearly
- 1:05:22Speaker 5: see it, right, they tell you that you didn't see
- 1:05:24Speaker 5: what you saw, yeah, you know. So that's why I
- 1:05:26Speaker 5: think if you just have a little transparency, or even worse,
- 1:05:30Speaker 5: if it's a guy and I don't know Brad Allen
- 1:05:32Speaker 5: from from Mike Yoursell, I don't know who this guy is,
- 1:05:36Speaker 5: you know.
- 1:05:36Speaker 1: So, I mean, we have the technology right he should
- 1:05:40Speaker 1: this should be repercussions. Even on some of these close calls,
- 1:05:43Speaker 1: they can stop the clip and they can say, see
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: that that's where we made our determination at that point,
- 1:05:50Speaker 1: you know.
- 1:05:50Speaker 4: I mean you kind of can't see it the way
- 1:05:52Speaker 4: he kind of like looks.
- 1:05:52Speaker 5: At like that Pool report was insulting to anybody who's
- 1:05:56Speaker 5: ever watched a game, because you're watching something that's totally
- 1:05:59Speaker 5: differ from what this guy is saying.
- 1:06:01Speaker 1: All right, a five to five past five hundred. Let's
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: turn it over to the listeners. We'll start with Harry,
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: who's in Maryland. What's up, Harry.
- 1:06:11Speaker 17: Hey, it's good to hear your voices here. It's perfect
- 1:06:15Speaker 17: timing because I was calling to talk about this Detroit thing. Okay,
- 1:06:19Speaker 17: I thought I was on an island. I'd blame this
- 1:06:23Speaker 17: completely on Detroit.
- 1:06:25Speaker 13: You are, I've been taking a beating with everybody telling
- 1:06:28Speaker 13: me it's the ref's.
- 1:06:29Speaker 5: Ball, so it was the rest.
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: I think it's part. I think both are culpable here.
- 1:06:33Speaker 5: Yeah, I think that the Lions tried to be too cute,
- 1:06:37Speaker 5: but it's on the ref. The ref screwed up.
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: And then you know, they asked me.
- 1:06:41Speaker 5: If this happened to the Patriots, they'd be a storming
- 1:06:44Speaker 5: of Roger Goodell's office. And this morning, you know, I'm saying,
- 1:06:48Speaker 5: if they tried to be intentionally vague and do that
- 1:06:51Speaker 5: and they didn't, if if Bill Vanovitch screwed up, the
- 1:06:55Speaker 5: Ravens game. They would be an attack on Bill Vinovitch,
- 1:06:58Speaker 5: not on the Patriots for trying to be too I couldn't.
- 1:07:01Speaker 6: I couldn't agree with you more.
- 1:07:02Speaker 1: They asked Bill this morning about it, you know, and
- 1:07:04Speaker 1: they went back to that Ravens game and said, you know,
- 1:07:06Speaker 1: what's the process you know when you're doing that? And
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: Bill took it totally the wrong way. It's like there
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: was nothing illegal back then. And this, you know, he
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: wasn't saying that what you did was illegal. He was
- 1:07:16Speaker 1: asking what's the process to make sure that the ref right?
- 1:07:19Speaker 5: And it would in sense a team that does go
- 1:07:22Speaker 5: outside the box to think of these different ways to
- 1:07:25Speaker 5: try to get an edge within.
- 1:07:27Speaker 1: The rules, within the rules.
- 1:07:29Speaker 5: And if the referees screwed it up, and again, if
- 1:07:34Speaker 5: Dan Campbell is to be believed, which I'm not necessarily
- 1:07:36Speaker 5: believing everything, if he went over this before the game
- 1:07:39Speaker 5: with them and they still screwed it.
- 1:07:40Speaker 6: Up, well, apparently, Brad Allen and this is standard operating procedure.
- 1:07:45Speaker 6: Brad Allen was not in that meeting, So that's I
- 1:07:49Speaker 6: guess that's how it's I don't know, that's a Pro
- 1:07:51Speaker 6: Football Talk report. And he said that that's standard.
- 1:07:54Speaker 1: What else, Harry.
- 1:07:55Speaker 17: Earlier, when you said no one knows what was said.
- 1:07:57Speaker 17: That's that's the big point. You know, we see these guys.
- 1:08:00Speaker 17: Sixty eight runs over to the rest.
- 1:08:03Speaker 15: He might run over there and say, hey, we're running.
- 1:08:04Speaker 17: That tackle eligible thing again, and the rest says, oh, okay.
- 1:08:08Speaker 17: You know you have no idea what that conversation was.
- 1:08:11Speaker 5: That's why I said there should be transparency.
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: And again, now that gambling is legal, we have to
- 1:08:17Speaker 1: have that transparent. When it was illegal, you know, you
- 1:08:20Speaker 1: couldn't feel sorry for the better. I don't think something
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: that was against the law, But now.
- 1:08:24Speaker 5: I know everybody. Everybody goes down that road. I don't
- 1:08:26Speaker 5: really care about that.
- 1:08:28Speaker 1: I don't I do. I want I want it all
- 1:08:30Speaker 1: to work out.
- 1:08:30Speaker 5: I just want the games to be officiated properly. I
- 1:08:33Speaker 5: don't think that's too much to ask.
- 1:08:34Speaker 10: Yep, but Paul, they announced it.
- 1:08:36Speaker 17: I mean, the entire Detroit team is standing there and
- 1:08:39Speaker 17: no one thought, whoa seventy that's what.
- 1:08:43Speaker 5: I don't think you're even paying attention to that. I
- 1:08:45Speaker 5: think you you go over and report it.
- 1:08:47Speaker 10: Now.
- 1:08:47Speaker 5: You're worried about the play. You're calling the play. Yeah,
- 1:08:49Speaker 5: you're not listening to what the referees. I don't know.
- 1:08:51Speaker 10: There's a lot of undred guys over there that somebody.
- 1:08:54Speaker 5: Should have there's actually eleven, but that's okay. No, but
- 1:08:57Speaker 5: he's talking about everybody on the sideline.
- 1:08:59Speaker 1: Assistant co all right, thanks, Harry.
- 1:09:01Speaker 6: I just to go back to your point about if
- 1:09:04Speaker 6: they had messed this up with the Patriots against Baltimore.
- 1:09:07Speaker 6: My whole thing is is that you would have been
- 1:09:09Speaker 6: one of them.
- 1:09:09Speaker 5: You would have been at I'm with your point.
- 1:09:15Speaker 6: What I'm telling you is is that the Patriots would
- 1:09:17Speaker 6: not have screwed this up. That the Patriots would not.
- 1:09:20Speaker 5: But I'm not willing to say de Troyd screwed it up.
- 1:09:23Speaker 5: I'm telling you that's all I'm saying. I would like
- 1:09:26Speaker 5: to hear the actual conversation so I know who's screwed up.
- 1:09:29Speaker 5: I like to know who did something wrong. That's my
- 1:09:32Speaker 5: whole problem with this. I'm not telling you Detroit's right
- 1:09:34Speaker 5: or wrong.
- 1:09:35Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 1:09:36Speaker 5: Yeah, but when you don't know, and that's the way
- 1:09:39Speaker 5: the league wants to go.
- 1:09:40Speaker 1: But when you don't know, then to Evan's point, and
- 1:09:42Speaker 1: you see Detroit screw up things over the years, you're like, well,
- 1:09:45Speaker 1: they probably did something wrong.
- 1:09:47Speaker 5: But that isn't that wrong.
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: It is.
- 1:09:49Speaker 6: But you know coaches such a fraud Campbell.
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: Because I think he's one of the most unique guys
- 1:09:56Speaker 1: in the league.
- 1:09:56Speaker 6: He's a great motivator, great cheerleader for his tea, but
- 1:10:01Speaker 6: his coordinators do all the work, okay, and like, good
- 1:10:03Speaker 6: for him.
- 1:10:04Speaker 5: So I'll say this is anyone.
- 1:10:05Speaker 1: Giving him credit for putting together the game plan. No,
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: I'm just saying giving him credit for motivating his team. Yeah,
- 1:10:11Speaker 1: and he does a good job of that. But if
- 1:10:13Speaker 1: you're asking me again, like, do I think that he
- 1:10:16Speaker 1: handled this whole thing properly as the head coach of
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: the team. Yeah, And I tell you no, because I
- 1:10:20Speaker 1: think he's a knucklehead.
- 1:10:21Speaker 5: And I'll take it a step further. I think that
- 1:10:23Speaker 5: once the play happens, okay, it's unfortunate you lost a
- 1:10:26Speaker 5: potential go ahead two point conversion. Notice I say go ahead,
- 1:10:30Speaker 5: not game winning yeap, which is another element of that
- 1:10:32Speaker 5: that got completely glossed over. You gotta just kick the
- 1:10:36Speaker 5: extra point. Like you can sit there and say I'm pissed.
- 1:10:38Speaker 5: I'm gonna try to prove a point and win anyway,
- 1:10:41Speaker 5: So I can tell you to go screw yourself after
- 1:10:42Speaker 5: the game. So I was dumb.
- 1:10:44Speaker 1: He's so boneheaded when it comes to those situations.
- 1:10:46Speaker 5: But I don't think that there was boneheaded to go
- 1:10:48Speaker 5: for two. But when you go back to the seven
- 1:10:50Speaker 5: yard line, now you're just being stubborn.
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: Right right, Just take the tie kick the.
- 1:10:55Speaker 5: Extra point from the thirty eight year it would be
- 1:10:57Speaker 5: thirty eight yards now instead of thirty three. Just kick
- 1:10:59Speaker 5: the extra point, right.
- 1:11:01Speaker 4: I've got into my head, but I am trust I
- 1:11:02Speaker 4: got it into my head when I imagine.
- 1:11:03Speaker 5: I think that was part of like I got Decker.
- 1:11:05Speaker 7: Walking over like hey, hey, hey, reporting reporting, reporting, and
- 1:11:08Speaker 7: then because what what what?
- 1:11:09Speaker 4: Who's reporting?
- 1:11:09Speaker 7: And then he looks up and he sees Skipper saying, okay,
- 1:11:11Speaker 7: you're reporting and reporting reporting, Like it's like I'm muddled
- 1:11:14Speaker 7: and stuff.
- 1:11:15Speaker 5: I don't think And if you're asking me my personal opinion,
- 1:11:17Speaker 5: I think Decker went over and in no uncertain terms,
- 1:11:20Speaker 5: he reported, I think this there's not a coincidence that
- 1:11:22Speaker 5: it was fifty eight and sixty eight. And I think
- 1:11:25Speaker 5: that that's why they both went to him, and Decker
- 1:11:28Speaker 5: said I'm reporting, and they figured when they said, maybe
- 1:11:32Speaker 5: there'll be some confusion. Was it sixty eight or fifty eight,
- 1:11:35Speaker 5: one of those deals. That's what I think they tried
- 1:11:37Speaker 5: to do. I'm reporting, who's reporting? This guy coming in?
- 1:11:40Speaker 9: Oh?
- 1:11:40Speaker 6: That guy foxed everybody, including the official right.
- 1:11:43Speaker 5: Yeah, I think that's what happened. I think they confused
- 1:11:46Speaker 5: Brad Allen. But that doesn't mean that it's Detroit's fault.
- 1:11:48Speaker 5: It's Brad Allen's fault for getting confused. I agree if
- 1:11:52Speaker 5: that's what happened.
- 1:11:52Speaker 1: Patty's an agawam. What's up, Patty?
- 1:11:55Speaker 16: What's what's going on? Everyone? That wide receiver you're thinking of,
- 1:11:59Speaker 16: I think was Antoine ramdellel No.
- 1:12:02Speaker 5: That was like in the like early nineties with Cal Brown.
- 1:12:07Speaker 16: I don't have much to Adam.
- 1:12:10Speaker 1: Okay, thanks for calling him.
- 1:12:13Speaker 4: I just want to say hi, it.
- 1:12:17Speaker 16: No, no, just what you guys are talking about about
- 1:12:20Speaker 16: the Jets game and how you're kind of I don't
- 1:12:23Speaker 16: want to say that you're penciling them in for a win,
- 1:12:25Speaker 16: but I think the last game that actually penciled this
- 1:12:28Speaker 16: team in for a win was the last Jets game
- 1:12:30Speaker 16: they've played in the medal lands, and.
- 1:12:31Speaker 10: Like Week three or four.
- 1:12:33Speaker 16: I can't do it.
- 1:12:35Speaker 1: Yeah, I know, I'm you're right. I'm being overly simplistic
- 1:12:39Speaker 1: about this game. I just can't imagine them losing this
- 1:12:43Speaker 1: game because it's the Jets. They're terrible, you know. And
- 1:12:47Speaker 1: I know their defense is really good and they've played
- 1:12:50Speaker 1: really well, but boy, their offense is putrid. And I
- 1:12:53Speaker 1: think our offense has gotten just enough where we might
- 1:12:56Speaker 1: score twelve points and win the game, you know, turn
- 1:13:00Speaker 1: it over.
- 1:13:00Speaker 3: I think it's gonna be like a ten to seven.
- 1:13:02Speaker 17: Yeah.
- 1:13:02Speaker 1: I don't think you're gonna have to score a lot
- 1:13:03Speaker 1: of points to win this game. In other words, you know.
- 1:13:06Speaker 6: I'm not I'm not revealing my my bold.
- 1:13:10Speaker 3: You already revealed it. I already know what your bullpick.
- 1:13:12Speaker 6: Yeah, but that doesn't air right away, so to wait
- 1:13:16Speaker 6: and see.
- 1:13:17Speaker 1: All right, Thanks Patty, We'll go to California. Rob's on
- 1:13:21Speaker 1: the line. What's up, Rob? Are you a dentist chair?
- 1:13:25Speaker 1: What's going on?
- 1:13:27Speaker 7: Yeah?
- 1:13:28Speaker 1: Great?
- 1:13:28Speaker 18: Sorry, I must be online. Three man, I can barely hear.
- 1:13:31Speaker 19: You, but I'm gonna so this is a Robin san
- 1:13:35Speaker 19: Diego the Connecticut. Okay that I was that Jersey Mike yesterday.
- 1:13:40Speaker 19: I was thinking to be all the five A few
- 1:13:41Speaker 19: questions because the connection is bad.
- 1:13:43Speaker 1: I'm gonna, yeah, make it quick and then we'll try it.
- 1:13:45Speaker 4: Yeah, all right, right, So the firpose.
- 1:13:50Speaker 18: If if you go down there, they played it Jets
- 1:13:53Speaker 18: and they're playing conservative, They're kicking field goals, there's not
- 1:13:56Speaker 18: a lot of emotion. I think I know the answer,
- 1:13:59Speaker 18: but it's more speculations. Do you think that that might
- 1:14:02Speaker 18: be indicative that that Belichick is coming back if it's
- 1:14:05Speaker 18: not like a high emotion game, that they're not throwing
- 1:14:08Speaker 18: the kits and sink at the Jets. They're doing these
- 1:14:09Speaker 18: little sink and dunks and hunting. Now, So that's my
- 1:14:14Speaker 18: first question, okay, But my fecond question is this. My
- 1:14:17Speaker 18: brother in law is in Connecticut right now and he's
- 1:14:20Speaker 18: going up to the Hall of Fame this week in
- 1:14:22Speaker 18: the stadium. I haven't been there in a few years.
- 1:14:24Speaker 18: I want to know if there's anything you could check out,
- 1:14:26Speaker 18: you know, is there a new exhibit, is is there
- 1:14:29Speaker 18: anything happening is the Hall of Fame specifically?
- 1:14:31Speaker 1: Okay, I'll answer that when you get off. As far
- 1:14:34Speaker 1: as the Hall of Fame, call first, because sometimes there's
- 1:14:36Speaker 1: like corporate events and they actually close it to the
- 1:14:38Speaker 1: public on game day unless they come on Saturday, and
- 1:14:41Speaker 1: then you can check it out. But how long ago
- 1:14:45Speaker 1: did he say he was the last time he was here.
- 1:14:47Speaker 7: A couple of years years. I mean, if you didn't
- 1:14:49Speaker 7: see the new Super Bowl exhibit. I mean they have
- 1:14:51Speaker 7: some new stuff from the latest win.
- 1:14:53Speaker 1: Yeah, but that was a while ago.
- 1:14:55Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, I don't know.
- 1:14:57Speaker 7: It's a wonderful place. My son Cammel came yesterday. We
- 1:14:59Speaker 7: shot our show and Campbell tagged along, and then he's
- 1:15:02Speaker 7: been there one hundred times.
- 1:15:03Speaker 4: But he's like, let's go through again.
- 1:15:04Speaker 7: And there's plenty to do there for the kids, and
- 1:15:07Speaker 7: you know, all kinds of interactive stuff.
- 1:15:08Speaker 1: And there's a new new bar called the Heart that
- 1:15:11Speaker 1: opened up where CBS.
- 1:15:12Speaker 4: We went to the Harp.
- 1:15:12Speaker 1: You could check that out.
- 1:15:13Speaker 4: We did that.
- 1:15:14Speaker 5: He was very you liked it. There a couple of
- 1:15:18Speaker 5: a couple of couple of drinks, couple a couple of noons.
- 1:15:20Speaker 5: Good for him.
- 1:15:21Speaker 3: I was a little bit shocked that that was even
- 1:15:23Speaker 3: open on Harp.
- 1:15:24Speaker 7: I know, well it was good because there was no
- 1:15:25Speaker 7: one there, and so we hop right in, got some
- 1:15:27Speaker 7: some app got some no I mean Buffalo Chicken.
- 1:15:30Speaker 3: Like the Page's Hall of Fame. Why was that open?
- 1:15:32Speaker 11: Oh?
- 1:15:33Speaker 6: Was it open or did you just open that open.
- 1:15:36Speaker 6: You gotta yes because everybody's off, so.
- 1:15:40Speaker 4: We should have told him to go. Usually Monday, is.
- 1:15:41Speaker 7: It ten is the sweet spot because you get to
- 1:15:43Speaker 7: see some you might see some famous So let yeah,
- 1:15:46Speaker 7: like ninety eight point five the sports.
- 1:15:49Speaker 1: And what was his first question about that?
- 1:15:54Speaker 7: I like, my whole thing with this week is like
- 1:15:56Speaker 7: you wouldn't know what week it is, what their record is,
- 1:15:59Speaker 7: Like they are just like he he's going to present
- 1:16:00Speaker 7: the game plan there, like there's not going to be
- 1:16:02Speaker 7: any talk about the health this season or anything.
- 1:16:04Speaker 5: I would just say, like, it's just this season, Like
- 1:16:07Speaker 5: Fred's right, it's been consistent in that they've been sloppy,
- 1:16:11Speaker 5: but like there's no way of knowing how the game's
- 1:16:14Speaker 5: going to unfold. Like I would never have told you
- 1:16:17Speaker 5: they're going to turn the Bowl over four times, right,
- 1:16:19Speaker 5: you know before you even settle in your chair on Sunday?
- 1:16:23Speaker 1: So who knows?
- 1:16:24Speaker 5: Who knows?
- 1:16:25Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 1:16:25Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean in twenty twenty when they beat the
- 1:16:28Speaker 6: jetson was it week seventeen WEEKDS?
- 1:16:31Speaker 4: Cam Newton didn't Jacobe throw.
- 1:16:32Speaker 6: A touchdown pass to Cam Newton in that game?
- 1:16:34Speaker 5: I believe that is correct, Like, so they were.
- 1:16:36Speaker 4: Doing that kind of stuff, Devil Make Care and that.
- 1:16:40Speaker 5: Right, and it's so he wasn't getting fired after that season.
- 1:16:44Speaker 1: The only way, the only way I think we'd get
- 1:16:45Speaker 1: an indication that this is Bill's last game is if
- 1:16:47Speaker 1: they come out like in the Wing Tea or something
- 1:16:50Speaker 1: like that and start running like old school.
- 1:16:52Speaker 5: I hope they do that so that they can lose
- 1:16:55Speaker 5: drop kicks, you know, yeah, stuff like that.
- 1:16:58Speaker 4: What's he gonna wear to it comes out?
- 1:17:01Speaker 5: Aroun This could put a cap.
- 1:17:03Speaker 4: On the hoodie database too, So what's he gonna wear?
- 1:17:05Speaker 5: You know a lot of people want to know how
- 1:17:07Speaker 5: you're going to wrap that up if if indeed this
- 1:17:10Speaker 5: is the last.
- 1:17:11Speaker 1: Now, when it's all done, well, you donate the database
- 1:17:14Speaker 1: to the Smithsonian.
- 1:17:15Speaker 5: Maybe to the Hall of Fame here, but Naval Academy.
- 1:17:18Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 1:17:18Speaker 7: I mean there's there's probably a book in there, so
- 1:17:20Speaker 7: I mean, like, I don't know, I'm never really a
- 1:17:22Speaker 7: brook in the database, right, Like I mean, like the
- 1:17:25Speaker 7: Bill Belichick hoodie has.
- 1:17:26Speaker 5: Maybe it's like I think there's what's it's a picture book.
- 1:17:30Speaker 5: It's a picture book, yeah, picture scrap picture graphics. A
- 1:17:33Speaker 5: coffee table book about coffee tables.
- 1:17:35Speaker 7: Yeah, a scrap book, yeah, graphic a picture like, No,
- 1:17:39Speaker 7: I don't know.
- 1:17:39Speaker 4: If Bill goes, though, I'm gonna be h.
- 1:17:40Speaker 1: Maybe it could be a coffee table book with scraps
- 1:17:43Speaker 1: of each hoodie on the talking I'm going to be
- 1:17:47Speaker 1: each one is, each page is signed by Bill.
- 1:17:50Speaker 7: If he goes, he's going to be a big week
- 1:17:51Speaker 7: for me and the dumpsters out there, because I'm just
- 1:17:53Speaker 7: gonna be waiting.
- 1:17:53Speaker 4: You know, see if anything gets chucked out there, like
- 1:17:56Speaker 4: what is rady old sweater?
- 1:17:57Speaker 7: They throw it out, you realize that, you know, that's
- 1:17:58Speaker 7: the twenty sixteen blue cutoff hoodie that I.
- 1:18:02Speaker 1: Once met with this custom book company that makes these
- 1:18:05Speaker 1: like really expensive books on like you know, special cloth
- 1:18:10Speaker 1: paper and all the other and they come in like
- 1:18:13Speaker 1: wood boxes and you literally put gloves on before you
- 1:18:17Speaker 1: open it up and grease. Yeah, like the pages assigned this.
- 1:18:20Speaker 1: There was one with Muhammad Ali and and we were
- 1:18:23Speaker 1: thinking of doing like a commemorative Patriots thing that you know,
- 1:18:26Speaker 1: each book would be like five thousand dollars, but I
- 1:18:30Speaker 1: couldn't do it. But it was fascinating to see these books.
- 1:18:33Speaker 4: Yeah, you know, usually that's just really old books, not
- 1:18:35Speaker 4: really nice.
- 1:18:35Speaker 1: No, these are like custom made books, like some of
- 1:18:38Speaker 1: the binding was like snake skin, you know, rich really cool.
- 1:18:43Speaker 1: Did you have something to say sexty Booksmara?
- 1:18:46Speaker 9: I was wondering you, hey, I was wondering how many
- 1:18:51Speaker 9: people are going to show up to the game if
- 1:18:52Speaker 9: this weather is horrible and I just want to step up.
- 1:18:54Speaker 3: And there's a lot of very cheap tickets on here,
- 1:18:58Speaker 3: very alarming.
- 1:18:58Speaker 1: But also if it is bill last game, eighty thousand
- 1:19:01Speaker 1: people will say they were there for it.
- 1:19:03Speaker 5: I'm not so sure.
- 1:19:04Speaker 3: I'm not sure.
- 1:19:04Speaker 9: Literally, in section two twenty four, Row twelve, which is decent,
- 1:19:07Speaker 9: seats thirty nine dollars.
- 1:19:09Speaker 4: Oh well, probably shouldn't I want to go to that game.
- 1:19:13Speaker 9: So I'm just saying I'm not sure I would want
- 1:19:17Speaker 9: to see two teams who have probably the worst offenses
- 1:19:19Speaker 9: in the NFL playing.
- 1:19:20Speaker 5: But would you watch on TV?
- 1:19:22Speaker 1: But would you potentially want to see you saw Bill's
- 1:19:24Speaker 1: last game?
- 1:19:25Speaker 9: Kind of, I don't know if that's worth sitting in
- 1:19:27Speaker 9: a Blizzard to watch a zero zero game at half Yeah,
- 1:19:31Speaker 9: looking coaching.
- 1:19:32Speaker 5: Down, look at him, look at it, look at how
- 1:19:34Speaker 5: he wears that I.
- 1:19:35Speaker 4: Just threw that headset he threw.
- 1:19:37Speaker 5: I disagree with the zero zero but again zero zero half,
- 1:19:40Speaker 5: it's possible he's going to.
- 1:19:41Speaker 1: Break a tablet for the It is possible. It is possible,
- 1:19:45Speaker 1: of course, it's possible.
- 1:19:46Speaker 6: But I think for this game, I will like try
- 1:19:49Speaker 6: to soak in a little bit the fact that this
- 1:19:52Speaker 6: could be his last game, because in nineteen with Brady
- 1:19:55Speaker 6: was a playoff. It was such a different stakes that
- 1:19:57Speaker 6: the focus was just on the the play and the
- 1:20:00Speaker 6: outcome of the game. This is the outcome of the game.
- 1:20:03Speaker 6: Unless you are pulling like me for them to lose,
- 1:20:05Speaker 6: it really doesn't matter. It's more just this is this
- 1:20:08Speaker 6: could truly be it?
- 1:20:10Speaker 5: Like, right, do you think there are more than the
- 1:20:11Speaker 5: people that were actually here claiming they were at that game?
- 1:20:14Speaker 1: Brady's no, because he threw a pick to in the game. Well,
- 1:20:17Speaker 1: he had won the game. Everybody said I saw that.
- 1:20:21Speaker 5: I really don't think that's true. I mean, unless it was.
- 1:20:23Speaker 1: Like a super Bowl.
- 1:20:24Speaker 5: Well Ted Williams, a random Alaska. Yeah, no, one says
- 1:20:27Speaker 5: they were at that game.
- 1:20:29Speaker 1: That's the whole thing about that game. Everybody said they
- 1:20:31Speaker 1: were there and there was only like fifteen thousand people
- 1:20:34Speaker 1: in at the game.
- 1:20:34Speaker 5: Well you were there, so right, I'll take your word
- 1:20:37Speaker 5: for it time.
- 1:20:38Speaker 1: That was the whole thing.
- 1:20:39Speaker 5: I don't know anybody.
- 1:20:41Speaker 1: Last game, everybody said they were there and the ballpark
- 1:20:44Speaker 1: was half empty.
- 1:20:45Speaker 9: I I couldn't see myself going to a game that
- 1:20:48Speaker 9: has like no playoff implications for either team. Buith teams
- 1:20:51Speaker 9: are horrible, their offenses are horrible.
- 1:20:54Speaker 3: The Blizzard, like, I just don't want to.
- 1:20:56Speaker 1: What about simply paying your respects to Bill be watching?
- 1:21:01Speaker 5: I could get into that. If this was like THEES no,
- 1:21:06Speaker 5: like if they won, like let's just say that they
- 1:21:08Speaker 5: won a super Bowl last year and Bill like sort
- 1:21:11Speaker 5: of announced I'm retiring, I could get into it. The
- 1:21:15Speaker 5: uncertainty surrounding Bill's future to me is not enough for
- 1:21:20Speaker 5: me to go to the game. If I if I
- 1:21:21Speaker 5: don't want to go, like I mean, if you want
- 1:21:23Speaker 5: to go to their season ticket older by all means
- 1:21:25Speaker 5: you should go. And I do think the snow if
- 1:21:28Speaker 5: we get snow, I think that helps that atmosphere. Like
- 1:21:31Speaker 5: you remember the Snow game, and you know there was
- 1:21:34Speaker 5: nobody here that day, but they all.
- 1:21:35Speaker 1: Claim they were.
- 1:21:37Speaker 5: Okay, I'll take your word for that stuff. I don't
- 1:21:39Speaker 5: really know anybody that clamors to say that they were there,
- 1:21:42Speaker 5: but they were. I know I was here. I know
- 1:21:46Speaker 5: I left like the day before to get here. I
- 1:21:50Speaker 5: just if he was retiring, and I think it would
- 1:21:53Speaker 5: be like a pay your respects to Bill Belichick.
- 1:21:56Speaker 6: I think there's so much certain time. I'm just not
- 1:21:58Speaker 6: sold that he that he's done here.
- 1:22:00Speaker 5: No, I don't think it's done done.
- 1:22:02Speaker 6: No, I don't think it is either in the closer
- 1:22:04Speaker 6: that we get. Duce and I were talking about this
- 1:22:06Speaker 6: this earlier. It's it's a whole program that you have
- 1:22:10Speaker 6: to tear down if he's gone. Like it's not just well,
- 1:22:13Speaker 6: that's what I would do the coach, right, but like,
- 1:22:16Speaker 6: but it really is like because it's the coach, the
- 1:22:19Speaker 6: whole infrastructure of the football operations is is him Like
- 1:22:24Speaker 6: he put the.
- 1:22:24Speaker 5: Whole thing together.
- 1:22:25Speaker 1: We don't know anything, but what if it's.
- 1:22:28Speaker 6: Well, I guess my point is still that That's kind
- 1:22:31Speaker 6: of my point though, is that I just am not
- 1:22:34Speaker 6: anticipating that it's going to be all that different. Like, yes,
- 1:22:37Speaker 6: I think it might be. It could be Girrod, or
- 1:22:40Speaker 6: it could be Bill with like a souped up scouting
- 1:22:43Speaker 6: staff or something like that. But I'm just not imagining
- 1:22:47Speaker 6: that it's going to be Ben Johnson's going to be
- 1:22:49Speaker 6: the coach here in two weeks, and it's a completely
- 1:22:52Speaker 6: different thing. And you know, we have a GM that
- 1:22:54Speaker 6: that none of us have ever heard of or has
- 1:22:56Speaker 6: never been here, we never spoken to. Like I think
- 1:22:59Speaker 6: a lot of fans, that's what they would prefer. It
- 1:23:01Speaker 6: is a complete clean house and rehaul of football. And
- 1:23:04Speaker 6: I just don't think that I would prefer I don't
- 1:23:06Speaker 6: think that that's real.
- 1:23:08Speaker 5: If you if you're making a change, like if you're
- 1:23:10Speaker 5: keeping Bill, and that's fine, but if you're making your change,
- 1:23:13Speaker 5: I would definitely lean to the last.
- 1:23:15Speaker 9: Yeah, because otherwise I feel like it's ended up with
- 1:23:17Speaker 9: with what you said Evan about like dressing up a
- 1:23:19Speaker 9: pig or putting a make up on a pig, like
- 1:23:21Speaker 9: lipstick on a pig, whatever saying. I feel like it
- 1:23:25Speaker 9: would just be the same thing if you just kept
- 1:23:27Speaker 9: everybody but call.
- 1:23:28Speaker 5: The perfume everybody else's lips is.
- 1:23:30Speaker 7: I mean, and maybe not the best example, but when
- 1:23:33Speaker 7: Bill came in here was like the whole scouting staff gone,
- 1:23:35Speaker 7: the whole all the front office was gone.
- 1:23:37Speaker 4: I mean it's everybody.
- 1:23:39Speaker 7: When you turn over everybody, Well, when Bill came they
- 1:23:43Speaker 7: that's a great example, they.
- 1:23:44Speaker 5: Kept the personnel department through the draft. Then they all
- 1:23:46Speaker 5: got that that's how it usually was.
- 1:23:48Speaker 1: Yeah, And you know, you hear a lot of times
- 1:23:51Speaker 1: and teams like, oh, this equipment manager has been there
- 1:23:53Speaker 1: for fifty years or so. That means that they've gone
- 1:23:56Speaker 1: through many many got through. Yeah, and those those you know,
- 1:24:01Speaker 1: behind the scenes things. It's better to just keep people
- 1:24:03Speaker 1: who know what they've been doing rather than have to
- 1:24:06Speaker 1: worry about hiring those positions. Like we have a person here,
- 1:24:10Speaker 1: Nancy Meyer, who's been here since Buck o' kilroy. There's
- 1:24:13Speaker 1: no reason to get rid of her. She will be
- 1:24:15Speaker 1: loyal to whoever the new head coach is. She knows
- 1:24:17Speaker 1: her job, the players love her. She takes care of
- 1:24:21Speaker 1: those things so you don't have to think about them.
- 1:24:23Speaker 1: And those people tend to stay from regime to regime.
- 1:24:27Speaker 1: So really all the new people have to worry about
- 1:24:29Speaker 1: is what's going on with the players and the plays.
- 1:24:32Speaker 5: You know.
- 1:24:33Speaker 6: Yeah, I don't the closer that we get to it,
- 1:24:37Speaker 6: I said it last week, I just I'm not convinced.
- 1:24:41Speaker 6: I'm not convinced that they're actually going to do it,
- 1:24:43Speaker 6: because I just think that it's been built up an
- 1:24:46Speaker 6: entire infrastructure for twenty five years, and I just I
- 1:24:51Speaker 6: don't I don't know if they have the klines to
- 1:24:54Speaker 6: do it, honestly, but it's a big, big move to
- 1:24:57Speaker 6: move on from Bill Bellichi Oh.
- 1:24:58Speaker 5: I agree with that part. But in terms of you know,
- 1:25:01Speaker 5: it's an entire RESI you're going to have to do
- 1:25:03Speaker 5: it at some point. I just whether it's this year,
- 1:25:06Speaker 5: next year, or two. He's not going to coach forever.
- 1:25:09Speaker 6: Right, But I think the plan was to pass the
- 1:25:12Speaker 6: baton to Girrod. But I don't think they're ready to
- 1:25:15Speaker 6: pass the baton to Gerrod yet. And I think the
- 1:25:17Speaker 6: plan was to pass it to him in a year
- 1:25:20Speaker 6: or two, after he passes Shule's record, and after Gerard
- 1:25:23Speaker 6: gets some more experience, and then they do it on
- 1:25:26Speaker 6: more of a high note. Now you're passing the torch
- 1:25:29Speaker 6: to Gerrod for him to fix a four and thirteen
- 1:25:31Speaker 6: football team. It's a much different situation.
- 1:25:33Speaker 5: I feel like, I don't know if this is speaking
- 1:25:35Speaker 5: out of turn. I hope well Fred will just yell
- 1:25:37Speaker 5: at me if I am. But I feel like, if
- 1:25:40Speaker 5: you want to keep Bill, the only reason to keep
- 1:25:43Speaker 5: Bill is because you think he's the best man for
- 1:25:46Speaker 5: the job, like a fear of changing, and they're all
- 1:25:50Speaker 5: relevant things that you're talking about. I'm not this isn't
- 1:25:53Speaker 5: necessarily coming at you for what you just said, But
- 1:25:55Speaker 5: if that's the reason why you keep it, because I don't,
- 1:25:58Speaker 5: I just I'm not ready to make all these I'm
- 1:26:00Speaker 5: not sure that the timeline is right for if you
- 1:26:03Speaker 5: think girod Mayo is the next coach and it's a
- 1:26:06Speaker 5: year or two before you really figured that you'd make
- 1:26:08Speaker 5: the move, that's not the reason to stick with, especially if.
- 1:26:11Speaker 1: You've got the third pick and you're planning to somehow
- 1:26:13Speaker 1: get a quarterback. I need, you know, I can't delay
- 1:26:18Speaker 1: the transformation of the offense.
- 1:26:20Speaker 5: That's how I you know.
- 1:26:21Speaker 1: I've got to get going.
- 1:26:22Speaker 5: And if you want to keep Bill because you think
- 1:26:24Speaker 5: Bill is the best man for the job, then keep him.
- 1:26:26Speaker 5: Then make that argument and make that be the reason
- 1:26:29Speaker 5: trying to keep him.
- 1:26:30Speaker 3: For that record, it's going to take him five more years.
- 1:26:32Speaker 1: And that's another one I cannot I could care less
- 1:26:35Speaker 1: about the I couldn't care less about the record, and
- 1:26:37Speaker 1: I'm not sure Bill cares as much as people think
- 1:26:40Speaker 1: he does about the record.
- 1:26:41Speaker 6: I just think that the bigger I think that you
- 1:26:44Speaker 6: can really say that Bill, it's hard to imagine them
- 1:26:47Speaker 6: getting a better head coach than Bill Belichick.
- 1:26:50Speaker 5: But it might.
- 1:26:51Speaker 6: He might just not be the right head coach for
- 1:26:53Speaker 6: the team right now. That's and that I think is
- 1:26:55Speaker 6: where it becomes so difficult to decide what to do.
- 1:26:58Speaker 6: Is because no matter what you do in two weeks,
- 1:27:01Speaker 6: if Bill Belichick's not the head coach of the Patriots,
- 1:27:03Speaker 6: you're downgrading the head coach of the Patriots like you're
- 1:27:07Speaker 6: but Ben Johnson might be the right guy for this
- 1:27:10Speaker 6: era of the Patriots because you are gonna have Drake May,
- 1:27:13Speaker 6: and you are gonna have young, skilled players, and he
- 1:27:15Speaker 6: is gonna put those guys in an offense that's modern
- 1:27:18Speaker 6: and has a chance to succeed, and all that stuff
- 1:27:20Speaker 6: could be true. I just I think that there's still
- 1:27:23Speaker 6: so many things that Bill does better than anybody else
- 1:27:25Speaker 6: that it's hard to imagine that he's gonna be truly
- 1:27:28Speaker 6: a better well rounded head coach than Bill. And I
- 1:27:32Speaker 6: worry about that sort of thing coming out, like that
- 1:27:35Speaker 6: sort of side of it wants to dust settles, and
- 1:27:37Speaker 6: you know, the reactionary stuff goes away of going four
- 1:27:40Speaker 6: and thirteen or five and twelve or whatever it is.
- 1:27:43Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean the ideal thing would be, I guess,
- 1:27:46Speaker 1: or the easiest thing would be, is if Girod takes
- 1:27:49Speaker 1: over and he gives the offense to one of the
- 1:27:54Speaker 1: one of Evans guys, you know, some new fangled, you know,
- 1:28:00Speaker 1: offensive minded guy, and so Girod doesn't have to worry
- 1:28:03Speaker 1: about the offense. He kind of hands it over to
- 1:28:05Speaker 1: this person. Girod just kind of overseeing the team. Uh,
- 1:28:10Speaker 1: you know, whether it's DeMarcus Covington or whatever. He keeps
- 1:28:13Speaker 1: him as his defensive coordinator, and then the transition isn't
- 1:28:16Speaker 1: as much, isn't as big a thing, you know.
- 1:28:19Speaker 6: Yeah, the problem is that's the best idea in theory.
- 1:28:23Speaker 6: But these offensive minded guys are all getting head coaching.
- 1:28:26Speaker 6: I hear you, so like they're not gonna take you know,
- 1:28:28Speaker 6: Ben Johnson from from Detroit and make him make a
- 1:28:34Speaker 6: ladder remove and no it can't.
- 1:28:35Speaker 1: But it has to be somebody like that's next in
- 1:28:38Speaker 1: line somewhere to be oc and you're grabbing him before
- 1:28:41Speaker 1: the does and making him yourn.
- 1:28:43Speaker 6: I'm blanking on his name right now. But the offensive
- 1:28:46Speaker 6: coordinator in Miami is an interesting guy because he's somebody
- 1:28:50Speaker 6: that doesn't call plays right now in Miami because McDaniel
- 1:28:53Speaker 6: calls the plays. So for him to truly get offensive
- 1:28:56Speaker 6: coordinator head coach like type of aspirations, it's kind of
- 1:29:00Speaker 6: like Eric b Enemy right, Like you almost have to
- 1:29:02Speaker 6: leave the nest and call plays for yourself and establish
- 1:29:05Speaker 6: yourself as a big offensive mine someplace else. So he
- 1:29:08Speaker 6: could bring the Shanahan offense to New England and run
- 1:29:12Speaker 6: it himself and call the plays and things like that,
- 1:29:15Speaker 6: and then maybe that springboards him to a head coaching job.
- 1:29:19Speaker 6: But that just means in two years he's going to
- 1:29:21Speaker 6: be gone because he's going to be the head coach
- 1:29:23Speaker 6: someplace else.
- 1:29:23Speaker 1: And you notice we're not talking about GM right now,
- 1:29:26Speaker 1: which could be the bigger question. You know, who's who's
- 1:29:29Speaker 1: picking these guys in April.
- 1:29:30Speaker 9: I definitely think there needs to be a separation between
- 1:29:33Speaker 9: head coach and GM and not have them be all
- 1:29:35Speaker 9: in Frank Smith.
- 1:29:36Speaker 4: Sorry, yeah, I forget that.
- 1:29:39Speaker 6: Na he was gonna say Matt Smith and I was like,
- 1:29:41Speaker 6: that's not it.
- 1:29:42Speaker 4: No sucks the OC.
- 1:29:43Speaker 7: I wonder too, what the defense looks like in a
- 1:29:45Speaker 7: post Bill you know, post Belichick world here, and does
- 1:29:48Speaker 7: this defense get totally changed, because.
- 1:29:51Speaker 1: I wonder the defense looks like those little guys in
- 1:29:54Speaker 1: the metal football thing you turned them electricity on. They
- 1:29:57Speaker 1: all go in different directions.
- 1:29:58Speaker 7: I just feel like he's built it in a very
- 1:29:59Speaker 7: specific and there's a lot of players that. I mean,
- 1:30:01Speaker 7: I think Gonzalez can you know, play, Jonathan Jones can play.
- 1:30:04Speaker 7: But I just I wonder if another another guy comes
- 1:30:07Speaker 7: in here and says, I don't really have any use
- 1:30:08Speaker 7: for Jamal Bentley. You know, I'm kind of over Devon Godshaw.
- 1:30:11Speaker 7: You know, like a lot of the pieces that they've
- 1:30:13Speaker 7: you know, kind of unique to the Patriots, that they
- 1:30:15Speaker 7: wanted to do things the way they want to do it.
- 1:30:17Speaker 7: I could see another person being like, this isn't going
- 1:30:19Speaker 7: to work for me in any capacity upfront.
- 1:30:20Speaker 5: But you might also get guys that would work better
- 1:30:23Speaker 5: with a new guy, you know, maybe a new cha, right,
- 1:30:26Speaker 5: you know, someone like that.
- 1:30:27Speaker 4: I mean, I get your point, and I like that point.
- 1:30:29Speaker 4: I don't know about Chase specific.
- 1:30:30Speaker 5: No, I'm just saying a guy who doesn't really have
- 1:30:32Speaker 5: a full time role.
- 1:30:33Speaker 4: I was just yeah, yeah, no, no, no, no, I didn't
- 1:30:35Speaker 4: going to go.
- 1:30:36Speaker 1: Didn't to go to Chris Bordon shine with another.
- 1:30:39Speaker 6: I'm actually I'm also kind of worried about that. Like
- 1:30:42Speaker 6: I think defensively they're really sound, Like I think they're
- 1:30:45Speaker 6: really well coached defense. I would totally and I would.
- 1:30:49Speaker 6: I wouldn't touch the defense, like I bring back everybody.
- 1:30:52Speaker 6: I mean, not like if if Kyle Duggart goes out
- 1:30:54Speaker 6: and gets fifty million dollars and I'm okay.
- 1:30:56Speaker 1: But I mean you wouldn't touch the defense. That means
- 1:30:59Speaker 1: you would touch the defense philosophy.
- 1:31:02Speaker 5: Correct, Okay.
- 1:31:03Speaker 6: I don't think the defensive philosophy is broken, okay, And
- 1:31:05Speaker 6: I think that they've adapted it enough now where they
- 1:31:08Speaker 6: have the Kyle Duggars, Marty Map who's Jabriel Peppers is
- 1:31:11Speaker 6: of the world, who are basically, you know, I'm going
- 1:31:15Speaker 6: to give him some credit. I think Bill looked at
- 1:31:18Speaker 6: it and said, I could have a two hundred and
- 1:31:20Speaker 6: twenty five pound linebacker that's a little bit better than
- 1:31:24Speaker 6: the average linebacker in coverage but worse against the run,
- 1:31:27Speaker 6: or I could just have a safety play linebacker who's
- 1:31:30Speaker 6: a really good coverage player, you know, And like he
- 1:31:33Speaker 6: looked at it and said, I'd rather just play the
- 1:31:36Speaker 6: safeties at the second level of the defense.
- 1:31:38Speaker 1: But to Douce's point, a guy like Devin Gottschow, who
- 1:31:41Speaker 1: Bill says is one of the best defensive linemen in
- 1:31:43Speaker 1: the league, maybe another guy says, not in mind yet.
- 1:31:46Speaker 4: But there's you know, the big fatty two gappers and.
- 1:31:47Speaker 5: The trading guy.
- 1:31:50Speaker 6: Because they have Kyle Dugger playing at the second level
- 1:31:52Speaker 6: of the defense.
- 1:31:53Speaker 5: So if the.
- 1:31:54Speaker 6: Guards get up to the second level and a two
- 1:31:56Speaker 6: hundred and fifteen pounds safety is up there, then it's
- 1:31:59Speaker 6: going to be an issue.
- 1:32:00Speaker 5: So they have the.
- 1:32:01Speaker 6: Guys the god Shaws, the Wises, the bar and Moors
- 1:32:04Speaker 6: and those guys to hold up the line of scrimmage.
- 1:32:07Speaker 7: And that goes to the point you know that I
- 1:32:08Speaker 7: was just making was that it's all connected. You know,
- 1:32:10Speaker 7: if you pull out, you know, if you don't, if
- 1:32:12Speaker 7: you want to go smaller at linebacker, then you you
- 1:32:14Speaker 7: also might want to get more penetrators up front.
- 1:32:16Speaker 5: And I mean I think a lot of teams have
- 1:32:19Speaker 5: big space eaters up front. I just don't think a
- 1:32:21Speaker 5: lot of a lot of teams prioritize they're.
- 1:32:24Speaker 4: More of a spot player and shortyard.
- 1:32:26Speaker 5: Like minimum salary guys, not nine million a year guys.
- 1:32:28Speaker 4: Yeah, But on the flip side too.
- 1:32:29Speaker 7: I mean, like, you know, not to say that Brian
- 1:32:31Speaker 7: Flores is going to come here and be the defensive coordinator,
- 1:32:33Speaker 7: but I'm sure he could take this personnel and and
- 1:32:35Speaker 7: you know, put a really good team together and not
- 1:32:37Speaker 7: have to change everything because he's kind of from that
- 1:32:39Speaker 7: tree you have blitzing every play.
- 1:32:41Speaker 6: I would just I would just retain the coaching staff
- 1:32:44Speaker 6: on that side of the ball, like if that just
- 1:32:46Speaker 6: means okay, like Ben Johnson's the head coach and Girodmeo's
- 1:32:49Speaker 6: now the official defensive coordinator instead of whatever the heck
- 1:32:52Speaker 6: he is right now, Like I just make it that way.
- 1:32:55Speaker 6: I would bring back the whole staff if I could.
- 1:32:57Speaker 3: I don't think you can keep the Belichicks.
- 1:33:00Speaker 4: That's tough.
- 1:33:01Speaker 7: I mean, that's why Covington is interesting, just because you know,
- 1:33:03Speaker 7: Gerrod kind of comes with the baggage and I mean
- 1:33:05Speaker 7: baggage using that trem loosely, but you know, the Belichicks
- 1:33:07Speaker 7: are the Belichicks. So Covington, though, I think, is universally respected,
- 1:33:11Speaker 7: and you know he was down at the Senior Bowl.
- 1:33:12Speaker 7: He's another like one of those guys that I could
- 1:33:14Speaker 7: see maybe surviving a regime change.
- 1:33:16Speaker 4: And kind of maybe somebody that could stay.
- 1:33:17Speaker 1: I'm thinking though, if Bill doesn't go anywhere else to coach,
- 1:33:21Speaker 1: but he's you know, retires or whatever, and you keep Steve,
- 1:33:25Speaker 1: do you at least get Bill on the phone every week? No?
- 1:33:27Speaker 1: I mean I would go for that.
- 1:33:29Speaker 3: You have to know.
- 1:33:30Speaker 6: I don't know why, why, what's wrong with Steve?
- 1:33:32Speaker 3: It's just weird having someone like linger over like Bill.
- 1:33:35Speaker 5: If Bill's not coaching anymore, that's that's a different scenario
- 1:33:39Speaker 5: that Like, if Bill goes somewhere next year, then yeah,
- 1:33:42Speaker 5: that's Belichick kids staying here. That's weird. I agree. But
- 1:33:46Speaker 5: if he's not coaching and he decides, all right, I
- 1:33:50Speaker 5: had a good run, it's a good time to hang
- 1:33:52Speaker 5: it up. Yeah, you know, I'd be.
- 1:33:54Speaker 3: Shocked to be hung it up.
- 1:33:56Speaker 5: I would too. I would you still watch the.
- 1:33:58Speaker 1: Event he does? I'd like to keep Steve and and
- 1:34:00Speaker 1: you get Bill on the phone hello?
- 1:34:02Speaker 5: Yeah, why wouldn't you just keep him?
- 1:34:04Speaker 1: If you will?
- 1:34:05Speaker 5: Like, if you're so interested in what he has?
- 1:34:07Speaker 1: Great game day? Remember is he yes he is? Yes
- 1:34:10Speaker 1: he is. Remember when Parcells was here and Robert at
- 1:34:14Speaker 1: the end said the best sideline, What did he call
- 1:34:17Speaker 1: Parcels the best game day sideline coach in the history
- 1:34:20Speaker 1: of the modern NFL. Remember that?
- 1:34:24Speaker 4: What Remember it was.
- 1:34:26Speaker 1: On the field? I think it was the Pittsburgh game.
- 1:34:29Speaker 5: Can you put like the names instead of He and.
- 1:34:32Speaker 1: Robert talked about parcels.
- 1:34:35Speaker 5: Y apology in the history of the modern Yeah, I'm
- 1:34:39Speaker 5: usually much better. I apologize. I'm usually much better at
- 1:34:42Speaker 5: speaking Fred. But you are correct, remember that after the
- 1:34:45Speaker 5: Jacksonville after He's the greatest sideline coach in the history
- 1:34:49Speaker 5: of the modern era. Right, it was like nine qualified.
- 1:34:52Speaker 1: But I think you know, if you want to whittle
- 1:34:55Speaker 1: it down, who's better at devising a game plan than
- 1:34:58Speaker 1: Bill Belichie.
- 1:34:59Speaker 5: I think he's special.
- 1:35:00Speaker 6: I think he's the best game planner in the history
- 1:35:02Speaker 6: of the league. Yeah, I had that I don't think
- 1:35:05Speaker 6: is disputable.
- 1:35:05Speaker 1: Yeah, Identifying matchup, you know, looking at you know, the weaknesses,
- 1:35:10Speaker 1: looking at the strengths and figuring out how to neutralize them.
- 1:35:14Speaker 5: You know, which is so funny. He feels like he
- 1:35:16Speaker 5: can do stuff to stop offenses, yet he doesn't want
- 1:35:20Speaker 5: to build one.
- 1:35:20Speaker 1: Yeah, because he just feels like everybody can stop it.
- 1:35:23Speaker 6: Because I think that I think that, you know, David
- 1:35:25Speaker 6: Andrews said it after the game, and I know that
- 1:35:29Speaker 6: this is a lot coach speaking, A lot of coaches
- 1:35:31Speaker 6: say this, but you have to like learn how to
- 1:35:34Speaker 6: what is it not lose to win or something like that.
- 1:35:38Speaker 6: And I think that that's how Bill approaches offense. Just
- 1:35:40Speaker 6: don't lose the game instead of trying to be aggressive
- 1:35:44Speaker 6: and actually winning the game with your offense.
- 1:35:46Speaker 5: Which is why I'm not really yeah, you know that's
- 1:35:49Speaker 5: my feeling. Again, it doesn't mean it's the way that
- 1:35:52Speaker 5: Robert Kraft is thinking, but that's why I want to
- 1:35:54Speaker 5: move on.
- 1:35:55Speaker 7: Is there a world where Bill Belichick becomes president of
- 1:35:58Speaker 7: Football Operations and it's.
- 1:35:59Speaker 4: Kind of here, he stays here.
- 1:36:01Speaker 7: It's entitled well, but it's a title'ssioner of the p LL.
- 1:36:06Speaker 6: I feel like, no, I mean, just is there a
- 1:36:08Speaker 6: strains as a coach though?
- 1:36:10Speaker 7: Right, like totally, I'm just this is one thing we
- 1:36:13Speaker 7: haven't talked about at all of a potential move where
- 1:36:15Speaker 7: he kind of stays here but he doesn't really have
- 1:36:17Speaker 7: any direct impact anymore.
- 1:36:20Speaker 1: President emeritus. I don't see the parent.
- 1:36:25Speaker 5: Even the biggest Belichick fans would say that he struggles
- 1:36:29Speaker 5: in the draft lately, but he's just the president to
- 1:36:33Speaker 5: be in charge of say that he'll.
- 1:36:36Speaker 1: Be the Hall of Fame archivist.
- 1:36:39Speaker 5: And what's he doing? What's he doing?
- 1:36:41Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 1:36:43Speaker 6: Now if he's coaching.
- 1:36:45Speaker 7: See this is like rubbed everybody so wrong that I'm like,
- 1:36:47Speaker 7: this could be what it is. This is going to
- 1:36:48Speaker 7: be the thing that makes no one happy.
- 1:36:50Speaker 1: What if he becomes Mayo's Ernie Adams?
- 1:36:53Speaker 5: Yeah, why would he do that?
- 1:36:55Speaker 1: Director of research? He's not going to do it.
- 1:36:58Speaker 7: And football history, so, like you say, roll them on
- 1:37:01Speaker 7: Fridays just to give a little swary lesson.
- 1:37:03Speaker 5: So you can't kid with me like that because.
- 1:37:05Speaker 1: It just ever starts getting really nervous.
- 1:37:07Speaker 5: What do you? Where is this coming from? Now?
- 1:37:10Speaker 1: All right, let's get back.
- 1:37:11Speaker 5: To the phone. Strange days.
- 1:37:13Speaker 1: Indeed, Kendall's in North Carolina. What's up, Kendall?
- 1:37:17Speaker 18: What's going on?
- 1:37:18Speaker 1: All right?
- 1:37:20Speaker 19: That's good.
- 1:37:21Speaker 18: I got one quick, christ I just became a fan
- 1:37:24Speaker 18: of this.
- 1:37:25Speaker 1: Year or so? Where you been?
- 1:37:27Speaker 5: Sorry, I've been out man.
- 1:37:31Speaker 10: Well I'm not familiar with I all see the schedule,
- 1:37:33Speaker 10: so would the last week of theater until training camp.
- 1:37:37Speaker 18: But we go year round.
- 1:37:38Speaker 1: Oh no, once the season is over, we go twice
- 1:37:41Speaker 1: a week Tuesday, Tuesdays and Thursdays at noon.
- 1:37:45Speaker 17: Okay, so y'all COVID to combound.
- 1:37:47Speaker 1: Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, you stay with us. We will
- 1:37:50Speaker 1: be hearing all of it every step of the way.
- 1:37:54Speaker 5: I'll come say hi, are you are you working out?
- 1:37:58Speaker 18: Sir?
- 1:37:59Speaker 5: I was, I was sorry.
- 1:38:01Speaker 1: Have you been invited?
- 1:38:01Speaker 5: Are you working out?
- 1:38:03Speaker 9: No?
- 1:38:03Speaker 18: I have my own podcast whatnot and with the media,
- 1:38:07Speaker 18: so I get to go to the combat.
- 1:38:09Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:38:10Speaker 4: We'll be there.
- 1:38:10Speaker 1: I mean every step of the way. Will be there, more.
- 1:38:14Speaker 5: Than likely to be there, right, Yeah, we will be there.
- 1:38:16Speaker 4: Better be there.
- 1:38:16Speaker 5: Yeah, Shrine involved in all your little meetings pro days.
- 1:38:22Speaker 5: You're talking about it again this morning. Thank god.
- 1:38:25Speaker 10: I appreciate it.
- 1:38:25Speaker 5: Okay, thanks Kendall.
- 1:38:27Speaker 4: Yeah, Paul, we signed you up for the pro day
- 1:38:29Speaker 4: at Washington.
- 1:38:30Speaker 6: Yeah, you're gonna go out. I'm going to go out
- 1:38:32Speaker 6: to Washington watch Michael Penix. Michael penis apparently going to
- 1:38:37Speaker 6: the Senior Bowl. Actually, I don't know if you will
- 1:38:40Speaker 6: if they win the Natty.
- 1:38:41Speaker 1: But I can see Paul going up to listen. I
- 1:38:43Speaker 1: played quarterback at every and I'm a lefty, so I
- 1:38:46Speaker 1: just want.
- 1:38:47Speaker 4: To go over and get you. I get you.
- 1:38:49Speaker 5: Do you feel disrespected, like I always just a little bit.
- 1:38:52Speaker 4: Wasn't my a c l it was my achilles?
- 1:38:54Speaker 6: But you know, serious though, if they do draft Michael Penix,
- 1:38:58Speaker 6: one of the most fun things that for me is, Okay,
- 1:39:01Speaker 6: now we have to flip everything, right, Like if you're
- 1:39:04Speaker 6: going to bootleg, now you're bootlegging the other direction, or
- 1:39:07Speaker 6: if you're gonna like does the.
- 1:39:08Speaker 1: View for all twenty two change? You put the camera
- 1:39:11Speaker 1: on the other side.
- 1:39:11Speaker 5: Yeah, the whole thing is backward.
- 1:39:13Speaker 6: It's like it's you know, you talk about the passing
- 1:39:15Speaker 6: strength is usually to the quarterback's arm side of the
- 1:39:19Speaker 6: of the play right, So now you got to flip everything.
- 1:39:21Speaker 1: So we need a right tackle to get a backup
- 1:39:24Speaker 1: who's also a lefty?
- 1:39:25Speaker 6: Or do you that's a good question, fret.
- 1:39:27Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 1:39:27Speaker 6: We'll have to ask, all right, Ben Johnson, Tebow, Timper's
- 1:39:30Speaker 6: in charge. Yeah, willing get into existence.
- 1:39:35Speaker 1: I looks.
- 1:39:36Speaker 7: Can I just say one thing though, like everything, every
- 1:39:37Speaker 7: little bit and there's only been a handful, but every
- 1:39:40Speaker 7: little bit that you've heard about Ben Johnson.
- 1:39:42Speaker 5: Is that he's a big a hole And like I
- 1:39:44Speaker 5: just f we got to get another This is what
- 1:39:46Speaker 5: we're gonna hear. For those of us that are not
- 1:39:49Speaker 5: familiar with anything other than the fact that he yelled
- 1:39:51Speaker 5: at somebody in a middle school plate, what.
- 1:39:52Speaker 7: Else is he wants to have him a lot of money,
- 1:39:54Speaker 7: you know, getting out there that he's he's ten million,
- 1:39:57Speaker 7: fifty fifteen million plus.
- 1:39:59Speaker 5: Okay, those two I just said.
- 1:40:01Speaker 4: They were only a few.
- 1:40:02Speaker 5: That's not I mean I do too.
- 1:40:04Speaker 4: Yeah, Like, how do you make it known?
- 1:40:06Speaker 5: Yeah, I would make my salary. If I was like
- 1:40:08Speaker 5: a commodity on the open market, I would make it
- 1:40:10Speaker 5: known what I was looking for.
- 1:40:12Speaker 1: Absolutely, sounds like we got a Ben Johnson face. Sounds
- 1:40:15Speaker 1: like it's another apologist.
- 1:40:16Speaker 5: Absolutely. I don't know. If you've been listening all year,
- 1:40:19Speaker 5: how much.
- 1:40:20Speaker 6: Do you think the enemy is gonna make?
- 1:40:23Speaker 3: Like, yeah, how much do you think he wants?
- 1:40:24Speaker 5: Oh?
- 1:40:25Speaker 6: I don't know, but I'd be interested in the enemy,
- 1:40:27Speaker 6: you know, I'd be interested in the enemy. I think, like,
- 1:40:30Speaker 6: we're we're gonna do this on catch twenty two eventually,
- 1:40:33Speaker 6: Like pairing these quarterbacks with certain offensive minds I think
- 1:40:38Speaker 6: is going to be part of the consideration. If they're
- 1:40:41Speaker 6: really really in love with Drake May, then Ben Johnson
- 1:40:44Speaker 6: is like, get him on the phone. Tomorrow, right, Like
- 1:40:47Speaker 6: that's the perfect pairing for that. But if you really
- 1:40:49Speaker 6: want to try to go after Caleb Williams, then I
- 1:40:51Speaker 6: would hire the enemy like that.
- 1:40:53Speaker 5: That would be I.
- 1:40:53Speaker 1: Would hire the enemy. But he's got to get a
- 1:40:55Speaker 1: different hat, like the Woolen hat that's tilted like that,
- 1:40:59Speaker 1: wear a hood or something.
- 1:41:00Speaker 3: That's when did Fred become the fashion police.
- 1:41:03Speaker 1: I've always been check, its been.
- 1:41:08Speaker 9: Fashion, But to that point of forgetting these people on
- 1:41:11Speaker 9: the phone's I feel like that's why the decision if
- 1:41:13Speaker 9: you're gonna keep Bill or not keep it all has
- 1:41:15Speaker 9: to be made quick because you don't want to miss
- 1:41:16Speaker 9: out on either one of those people.
- 1:41:18Speaker 7: It's got to be fast and you don't want the
- 1:41:20Speaker 7: fans just clamoring for the next like three weeks that's
- 1:41:22Speaker 7: gonna happen.
- 1:41:22Speaker 1: Well.
- 1:41:23Speaker 6: You also have to mention, though, that they changed the
- 1:41:25Speaker 6: rule this year so you can't high I do interviews
- 1:41:29Speaker 6: with teams that are still alive until the divisional round
- 1:41:32Speaker 6: of the playoffs. Now used to be wild card weekend,
- 1:41:34Speaker 6: so they pushed it back a week. So guys like
- 1:41:37Speaker 6: Ben Johnson, assuming that the Lions advance out of the
- 1:41:41Speaker 6: wild card round, you know you'd have to wait to
- 1:41:43Speaker 6: interview guys.
- 1:41:44Speaker 3: But the enemy you could call it, Yeah, a sap.
- 1:41:47Speaker 1: It's true.
- 1:41:48Speaker 4: Do you want the enemy?
- 1:41:49Speaker 3: I'm just saying he's available right now.
- 1:41:51Speaker 1: Sean's in Virginia. What's up, Sean? Got how it's going
- 1:41:56Speaker 1: all right?
- 1:41:58Speaker 10: Yes, I just wanted to parts about improving the team, like, uh,
- 1:42:04Speaker 10: But I think it's interesting what one of you guys
- 1:42:06Speaker 10: said Sunday about mortgage. Hear some picks and they basically
- 1:42:11Speaker 10: they might have to do that in order to get
- 1:42:12Speaker 10: the offense to where it needs to be. Because I'm
- 1:42:15Speaker 10: looking at that, but as they actually got a guy
- 1:42:19Speaker 10: like Marvin Harrison Jr. Then I'm looking at it how
- 1:42:22Speaker 10: they made probably cantarget see Higgins in cre agency and
- 1:42:24Speaker 10: so these other guys and I here also kind of
- 1:42:27Speaker 10: about them losing different players. But just like I was
- 1:42:31Speaker 10: hearing mister man talk, I wouldn't touch the defense side
- 1:42:36Speaker 10: of the ball because, like I said, I think they
- 1:42:37Speaker 10: could plug in anybody on these on that side of
- 1:42:39Speaker 10: the ball and be good. But I would just fixtate
- 1:42:42Speaker 10: on the offense somewhere that they would say they struggled at,
- 1:42:46Speaker 10: which is evaluate talent offensively receivers, PIX.
- 1:42:52Speaker 1: Focused on when you say you can plug in anybody
- 1:42:55Speaker 1: on the defensive side of the ball and they'll be good.
- 1:42:57Speaker 10: Why do you say that, but because they're so good dramatically,
- 1:43:02Speaker 10: they're so good at coaching up outside of the ball.
- 1:43:04Speaker 10: But I feel like that, I feel I think it's
- 1:43:06Speaker 10: throw anybody on that side of the ball.
- 1:43:07Speaker 1: But what if the coaches are gone?
- 1:43:10Speaker 10: That's my that's my point, Like I said, Like if I,
- 1:43:13Speaker 10: like I said, if I, if they could mess somehow
- 1:43:14Speaker 10: manage to keep the coaches, that side of the ball
- 1:43:17Speaker 10: is not the problem. Like I would not fixed, was
- 1:43:19Speaker 10: not broken, right, I would fixtate. I would stay fixtated
- 1:43:22Speaker 10: on the offensive side of the ball. All we're trying
- 1:43:25Speaker 10: to do whatever I need to do to make sure
- 1:43:26Speaker 10: that side of the ball gets correct.
- 1:43:28Speaker 1: I don't think anyone disagrees with that. You know, and
- 1:43:31Speaker 1: and you know. In terms of mortgaging the future, I mean,
- 1:43:34Speaker 1: if it takes giving up future draft picks to get
- 1:43:37Speaker 1: people you want now, I say, do it, because you
- 1:43:41Speaker 1: know there's no guarantee that in the future you're going
- 1:43:43Speaker 1: to get them. If you there's people that are there
- 1:43:45Speaker 1: now that you want, go get them, right, Go get them.
- 1:43:50Speaker 1: I'm not with that, but there's no guarantee we're gonna
- 1:43:52Speaker 1: be able to address it next year. So if you
- 1:43:55Speaker 1: see things that can address it, now address it.
- 1:43:58Speaker 6: I just I've I keep saying the same thing. I
- 1:44:01Speaker 6: just I wouldn't be the Carolina Panthers. I wouldn't be
- 1:44:04Speaker 6: in a situation.
- 1:44:05Speaker 1: But you can do it right and do it that way.
- 1:44:08Speaker 6: I suppose you.
- 1:44:09Speaker 1: Don't have to take Bryce Young.
- 1:44:11Speaker 6: Well, I mean I can't really get on them for
- 1:44:13Speaker 6: taking Bryce Young because he's a great prospect.
- 1:44:15Speaker 1: Okay, so you thought he was going to be really good.
- 1:44:17Speaker 6: I think everybody thought he was going to be really
- 1:44:20Speaker 6: good for it, but he did. Yeah, I mean he's
- 1:44:23Speaker 6: number one pick in the draft.
- 1:44:24Speaker 5: I don't know anybody who was on the record. Doesn't
- 1:44:26Speaker 5: mean every other prospect.
- 1:44:29Speaker 1: Okay, so right, so you pick a quarterback this year,
- 1:44:32Speaker 1: it doesn't work out, So waiting a year is going
- 1:44:36Speaker 1: to make it different.
- 1:44:36Speaker 6: No, I'm just not giving up a king's ransom to
- 1:44:39Speaker 6: pick one player. I'm just not doing it.
- 1:44:41Speaker 1: I I if you really think the guy is the guy,
- 1:44:45Speaker 1: go get him, Go get him because he's not going
- 1:44:47Speaker 1: to be there.
- 1:44:47Speaker 6: Next I just think it's great to have that kind
- 1:44:50Speaker 6: of conviction, the amount of times that that kind of
- 1:44:52Speaker 6: conviction actually works out.
- 1:44:54Speaker 5: I need another. I need the parameters. Like it's one
- 1:44:57Speaker 5: thing to say I need the King's ransom, but what
- 1:44:59Speaker 5: is the.
- 1:44:59Speaker 1: King giving up? Mike Ditka, you know the Saints.
- 1:45:03Speaker 5: I'd be more apt to do that than like the
- 1:45:04Speaker 5: two ones, two two's and stuff that really takes to
- 1:45:07Speaker 5: do that stuff, right if you're.
- 1:45:09Speaker 10: Also also was a guy wanted to play it one
- 1:45:12Speaker 10: more thing, like for example, like you know, we just
- 1:45:15Speaker 10: saw the Bills game.
- 1:45:16Speaker 5: We just saw the Bill game, right, Yep.
- 1:45:18Speaker 10: The reason why those guys are able to play as
- 1:45:21Speaker 10: aggressive as they were playing because they realized that there's
- 1:45:23Speaker 10: somebody on the office that scares them. I mean, most
- 1:45:26Speaker 10: things can do that because I mean, if you actually
- 1:45:27Speaker 10: look at it, the way they're playing defensively, I don't
- 1:45:29Speaker 10: think they playing against the Bangels with Jamar chasing those guys.
- 1:45:33Speaker 10: I don't think they play against Miami like that.
- 1:45:35Speaker 5: I kind of think they do what they do and.
- 1:45:39Speaker 10: The way they playing them because there's nobody on offense
- 1:45:41Speaker 10: that scares them.
- 1:45:44Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean there's no question that they've they've had
- 1:45:47Speaker 5: a lot of teams that have locked down on them.
- 1:45:48Speaker 1: Defense, No question, they play up. They don't worry about anything. Yep,
- 1:45:53Speaker 1: all right, thanks Sean, appreciate the call. Let's go to
- 1:45:56Speaker 1: Robert and Tennessee. What's up Robert?
- 1:45:58Speaker 15: Hey, how are y'all doing?
- 1:45:59Speaker 1: Okay?
- 1:46:01Speaker 15: I got a couple of questions. One is I never
- 1:46:06Speaker 15: hear any negative stuff from you all about the Belichick boys,
- 1:46:09Speaker 15: about this Belichick son, Can you kind of give me
- 1:46:11Speaker 15: an idea what the league feels about them? Kind of
- 1:46:15Speaker 15: can you give me just like an idea? Are they
- 1:46:17Speaker 15: good coaches?
- 1:46:17Speaker 17: Do they do a good job?
- 1:46:19Speaker 1: I see, I can't.
- 1:46:21Speaker 5: I can't.
- 1:46:23Speaker 1: I can't give you an idea because I don't know.
- 1:46:25Speaker 5: I don't know what the league.
- 1:46:27Speaker 1: We've said it before. You know, like if Steve wants
- 1:46:30Speaker 1: to really make a name for himself, he has to
- 1:46:32Speaker 1: get out from under his dad and kind of do
- 1:46:34Speaker 1: it on his own. Because right now on this team,
- 1:46:37Speaker 1: nobody has the title of defensive coordinator Gerard or Steve.
- 1:46:41Speaker 1: And you know, so you don't know who's really doing
- 1:46:44Speaker 1: what in this defense. It's still Bill, you know, I
- 1:46:48Speaker 1: don't know. The only thing we know for a fact
- 1:46:50Speaker 1: is that Steve calls the plays.
- 1:46:51Speaker 7: On the sideline, and that we know that, and that's
- 1:46:53Speaker 7: got holes in both of Gerard and Steve's resume where
- 1:46:56Speaker 7: you don't know if Steve can cut up, command a room,
- 1:46:59Speaker 7: present a game plan, and you don't know if Gerrod
- 1:47:01Speaker 7: can call a game, and you know, and those.
- 1:47:03Speaker 4: Things, and that's in parts of their experience.
- 1:47:06Speaker 1: We talked about it at the top of the show,
- 1:47:07Speaker 1: and I speculated that maybe the reason why some guys
- 1:47:11Speaker 1: at the after the Bills game were calling out Girod
- 1:47:13Speaker 1: and I think at least one called out Steve is
- 1:47:16Speaker 1: to give them some props because you know, you really
- 1:47:19Speaker 1: don't know what they're doing all year, and maybe they decided, hey,
- 1:47:22Speaker 1: let's mention these guys because they've been doing a great job,
- 1:47:25Speaker 1: and you know, they don't really get mentioned, you know,
- 1:47:28Speaker 1: after games, so maybe you know, that's that was just
- 1:47:31Speaker 1: my speculation.
- 1:47:33Speaker 6: I think, you know, just talking to the players about
- 1:47:35Speaker 6: those two. Gerard is considered to be almost like a
- 1:47:41Speaker 6: big brother to most of the players in the locker room.
- 1:47:44Speaker 5: You know, really a player's coach.
- 1:47:46Speaker 15: He's got a lot of energy and charismatic and things
- 1:47:50Speaker 15: like that. I just I just never, y'all, never do trash,
- 1:47:53Speaker 15: But that seems to be very popular of like, can
- 1:47:56Speaker 15: we get a coach in here and not just have
- 1:47:58Speaker 15: his son do it? But I don't think they're doing
- 1:48:00Speaker 15: I can't really tell what they're doing, but they don't
- 1:48:01Speaker 15: think like they're doing a horrible job.
- 1:48:03Speaker 1: No, I think I think. I agree, I think they're
- 1:48:05Speaker 1: doing collectively, they're doing a good job.
- 1:48:07Speaker 5: I mean I would also say that, like, you know,
- 1:48:11Speaker 5: Evan watches the film and he breaks down the games,
- 1:48:14Speaker 5: and I quite often you said it twice today, I've
- 1:48:18Speaker 5: heard you be critical of the play calling and that's Steve. Yeah.
- 1:48:21Speaker 6: I think on defense, the defensive play call, Steve is
- 1:48:24Speaker 6: a good play caller for the most part. I think
- 1:48:26Speaker 6: he falls into two traps. One one, he gets a
- 1:48:29Speaker 6: little bit too aggressive when he doesn't need to be aggressive,
- 1:48:32Speaker 6: Like Colin covers zero. I'm sorry, but it's first and
- 1:48:35Speaker 6: ten at the Buffalo thirty six yard line. They haven't
- 1:48:38Speaker 6: driven the ball on your defense all day long, and
- 1:48:40Speaker 6: you call an all out blitz with all this space
- 1:48:44Speaker 6: for Kyle dugger to cover Dalton Kincaid and he gets
- 1:48:47Speaker 6: beat for fifty one yard catch, Like is that?
- 1:48:50Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 1:48:51Speaker 6: Could Kyle Duggar have covered the play a little bit better?
- 1:48:53Speaker 6: Or could they have obviously or could they have gotten there? Sure,
- 1:48:56Speaker 6: But I hated the call the third down play on
- 1:48:59Speaker 6: the final drive of the game.
- 1:49:01Speaker 5: For Buffalo.
- 1:49:02Speaker 6: They're playing man to man on third down the entire game,
- 1:49:05Speaker 6: So on that down he called cover two and they're
- 1:49:08Speaker 6: the middle of the field wide open for Khaliol security
- 1:49:11Speaker 6: to just catch like a little dump off from Josh Josh.
- 1:49:14Speaker 5: That play bugged me because I just would have thought, like, Okay,
- 1:49:17Speaker 5: I've watched a lot of Buffalo, this is where the
- 1:49:21Speaker 5: only way Buffalo's getting this is if Josh Allen does
- 1:49:24Speaker 5: a Superman and breaks three tackles and gets the first down.
- 1:49:28Speaker 5: And to have him just get the snap and as
- 1:49:31Speaker 5: easily as that, yeah, throw an easy pass that anybody
- 1:49:35Speaker 5: could have completed, was like eye opening, especially on a
- 1:49:38Speaker 5: day where I felt like the Page's defense played pretty well.
- 1:49:41Speaker 5: I just thought situationally, they really let him down.
- 1:49:44Speaker 6: To Buffalo's credit, they had the perfect play call on
- 1:49:47Speaker 6: for the zone that the Patriots played. They had, you know,
- 1:49:50Speaker 6: Kincaid run through the shoot and clear out the middle
- 1:49:52Speaker 6: of the field and then Shakura just filled it in
- 1:49:55Speaker 6: underneath and it was just wide open. But I just
- 1:49:58Speaker 6: they kind of disguised it in the back end and
- 1:50:00Speaker 6: made it look like man pre snap and then they
- 1:50:02Speaker 6: fell into cover two post snap. And I think that
- 1:50:05Speaker 6: was one play where he probably just out foxed himself,
- 1:50:08Speaker 6: you know, he was trying to out fox Josh Allen
- 1:50:10Speaker 6: and give him a different one.
- 1:50:11Speaker 5: Well, and maybe that's you know, maybe unfair because on
- 1:50:13Speaker 5: a day where I think he more than more often
- 1:50:17Speaker 5: than not outfox the Bills.
- 1:50:18Speaker 15: Yeah, what about Brian Belichick.
- 1:50:22Speaker 1: That's another one.
- 1:50:23Speaker 5: He was hurt, you know, sounds he missed he started
- 1:50:27Speaker 5: on pup.
- 1:50:27Speaker 1: Yeah, he missed like the first I don't know, five
- 1:50:30Speaker 1: or six games because he did have an accident in
- 1:50:32Speaker 1: the offseason where he couldn't be here. But I've always
- 1:50:37Speaker 1: looked at him as a smart kid. I remember seeing
- 1:50:39Speaker 1: him when he was just a little kid walking around
- 1:50:41Speaker 1: with a clipboard, following his dad around, taking notes like
- 1:50:45Speaker 1: he grew up at his father's knee, and I gotta
- 1:50:47Speaker 1: imagine some of that rubbed off on him. I'll bet
- 1:50:50Speaker 1: you he's got a future too.
- 1:50:52Speaker 6: On game to he's up in the coach's box Robert
- 1:50:54Speaker 6: and he he's he's charting the plays and then he
- 1:50:58Speaker 6: radios down to Steve and talks to Steve about how
- 1:51:02Speaker 6: the game is declaring right, like, this is what they're
- 1:51:04Speaker 6: trying to do to us. These are the plays that
- 1:51:06Speaker 6: we can see from the bird's eye view a little
- 1:51:08Speaker 6: bit better than maybe you can see on the sideline.
- 1:51:11Speaker 6: So I would say Brian is a really like detail
- 1:51:14Speaker 6: oriented guy, like he's got that from his dad, where
- 1:51:17Speaker 6: Like he can see formations and concepts and like be
- 1:51:20Speaker 6: able to script those and write those down. Whereas I
- 1:51:23Speaker 6: think Steve is a pretty good, like broad, big picture
- 1:51:26Speaker 6: X's and O's type of guy, which is why I
- 1:51:29Speaker 6: think he's, you know, a pretty good play caller.
- 1:51:31Speaker 1: Take him as a package.
- 1:51:33Speaker 7: If they were on the offensive side of the ball,
- 1:51:35Speaker 7: I think, you know, you might get more of what
- 1:51:36Speaker 7: the caller is looking for.
- 1:51:37Speaker 4: But it's like, how do you rail on them? I mean,
- 1:51:39Speaker 4: play call, sure, but I don't think you guys never
- 1:51:43Speaker 4: rail on them and.
- 1:51:44Speaker 5: Say we never criticize them. What exactly do they do?
- 1:51:47Speaker 5: I think I don't, But we don't criticize anybody on
- 1:51:49Speaker 5: offense either, And I think and I think they're having
- 1:51:52Speaker 5: a miserable year.
- 1:51:53Speaker 1: No, we criticize people on offense. Are you kids?
- 1:51:55Speaker 5: Troy Brown? Okay, I'll just speak for myself coach.
- 1:51:58Speaker 1: I don't know, but like not talking about the coaches,
- 1:52:01Speaker 1: the defensive line and you know, yeah.
- 1:52:03Speaker 5: I don't know what they're what they do. Like I
- 1:52:05Speaker 5: don't know if Billy Yates is any good. I don't
- 1:52:09Speaker 5: the evidence suggested.
- 1:52:10Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:52:11Speaker 5: I mean, but I think you can look and easily
- 1:52:13Speaker 5: fall into the trap of oh, the wide receiver coach
- 1:52:17Speaker 5: of Minnesota must be really good, because Justin Jefferson is
- 1:52:19Speaker 5: like the greatest wide receiver I've ever seen. I don't
- 1:52:21Speaker 5: know if he's any good, just like the Patriots wide
- 1:52:24Speaker 5: receivers are not very good. Is that because Troy Brown stinks?
- 1:52:27Speaker 7: I don't know, no, but I but I would say,
- 1:52:29Speaker 7: like the defense has been generally pretty good, and we
- 1:52:32Speaker 7: have definitely talked about Toroy Brown and the issues of
- 1:52:34Speaker 7: the coaching and the offensive line, and you know, with
- 1:52:36Speaker 7: any Cincerian, I mean, those things have come up, not
- 1:52:38Speaker 7: to say that they get put in the cross theirs.
- 1:52:40Speaker 7: So the defense has been pretty good, the safeties have
- 1:52:42Speaker 7: been pretty good.
- 1:52:43Speaker 5: The special teams. You are correct. I have been that
- 1:52:47Speaker 5: you are right when I'm wrong, I have to say
- 1:52:49Speaker 5: I'm wrong, you are right. I have criticized Joe Judge.
- 1:52:52Speaker 9: To have multiple people coaching special teams and they still
- 1:52:54Speaker 9: be this bad is not good.
- 1:52:56Speaker 4: To change it.
- 1:53:00Speaker 6: I ask a lot of questions about the coaching staff
- 1:53:02Speaker 6: because I think that there's so little information that Bill
- 1:53:06Speaker 6: puts out about what these guys do, and the roles
- 1:53:09Speaker 6: and responsibilities are so blurred, and anytime you ever ask
- 1:53:12Speaker 6: him about it, it's like, well, it's a team effort.
- 1:53:14Speaker 6: It's a team effort. Everybody plays a role, the YadA
- 1:53:16Speaker 6: YadA YadA.
- 1:53:17Speaker 5: So it makes it difficult.
- 1:53:18Speaker 6: And I just think, you know, the guys that have
- 1:53:21Speaker 6: straints obviously, and you know, on the defensive side of
- 1:53:24Speaker 6: the ball, I would say, you know, Mayo, Covington, Pellegrino,
- 1:53:28Speaker 6: those guys are really good at coaching technique coaching. You know,
- 1:53:33Speaker 6: put your hand here instead of there, and it's going
- 1:53:35Speaker 6: to be you know, that sort of thing. And then
- 1:53:37Speaker 6: you have like kind of the big picture guys like Steve,
- 1:53:40Speaker 6: who are more of like the seeing the forest, and
- 1:53:43Speaker 6: I think that everybody does have an individual role in
- 1:53:46Speaker 6: that respect. And you know, Gerard is really good at
- 1:53:49Speaker 6: watching film and seeing like all right, you know this
- 1:53:52Speaker 6: guy likes to do this type of thing or you know,
- 1:53:54Speaker 6: that type of thing. Because he played, so he can
- 1:53:56Speaker 6: look at it and see where guys look uncomfortable versus
- 1:54:00Speaker 6: So I think that that's you know, why it works
- 1:54:03Speaker 6: in a lot of ways on that side of the
- 1:54:04Speaker 6: ball is because everybody has their strengths. You know, Steve's
- 1:54:08Speaker 6: not really as much of like a raw ra gay
- 1:54:10Speaker 6: up and in front of the room type of guy.
- 1:54:11Speaker 6: But gerad Is is somebody that can carry your room
- 1:54:14Speaker 6: and can demand attention. So it ends up working out.
- 1:54:18Speaker 1: Yeah, Ryan and Connecticut. I got to shake hands with
- 1:54:21Speaker 1: Paul this Friday night.
- 1:54:23Speaker 5: I would remember that PAULI.
- 1:54:25Speaker 1: I was a little star struck, to say the least.
- 1:54:27Speaker 1: I had to explain to my girlfriend that Paul is
- 1:54:29Speaker 1: the one on the radio who likes to argue and
- 1:54:31Speaker 1: drink diet pepsi all the time.
- 1:54:33Speaker 3: Oh wait, so was this on a Christmas on the Christmas.
- 1:54:36Speaker 5: On the trolley? Absolutely, I think it was off the
- 1:54:39Speaker 5: trolley at the time.
- 1:54:40Speaker 1: But yeah, oh I thought you were doing an appearance.
- 1:54:43Speaker 5: Oh no, no, no, eat and greet. This was what
- 1:54:46Speaker 5: led to my my infamous tweet.
- 1:54:50Speaker 1: With one more regular season game to go, do you
- 1:54:52Speaker 1: have any opinions on what will happen with DeMarcus Covington.
- 1:54:56Speaker 1: With Mayo ahead of Covington in the pecking order, it
- 1:54:59Speaker 1: would seem like his have to defensive coordinator could be
- 1:55:02Speaker 1: blocked in New England. He also he made it as
- 1:55:05Speaker 1: an honorable mention in Pelli Sero's article about future NFL
- 1:55:08Speaker 1: head coaches back in November.
- 1:55:10Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean we talked a little bit about him.
- 1:55:12Speaker 4: I'm not sure. I'm not sure.
- 1:55:13Speaker 7: I mean, he might be the right guy that's kind
- 1:55:14Speaker 7: of out of the crosshairs a little bit, but I
- 1:55:16Speaker 7: think he's a really talented coach. I just I mean,
- 1:55:18Speaker 7: I guess my only concern with him would just be
- 1:55:20Speaker 7: I mean, certainly he's coached the defensive line. He understands
- 1:55:22Speaker 7: the front, but so much goes into the secondary and
- 1:55:25Speaker 7: and coordinating that, and I think that's a really big
- 1:55:27Speaker 7: piece of the puzzle with the next thing.
- 1:55:28Speaker 5: It all depends on what happens. I think it's it's
- 1:55:31Speaker 5: I know it sounds like a cop out, but when
- 1:55:32Speaker 5: you don't know exactly who the next coach is gonna be,
- 1:55:36Speaker 5: Like if if Bill's here, you know, you could definitely
- 1:55:42Speaker 5: see him maybe trying to get himself out there and
- 1:55:45Speaker 5: defensive coordinator interviews. But if Bill leaves a he might
- 1:55:50Speaker 5: have an opportunity to stay here as defensive coordinator, and
- 1:55:53Speaker 5: if not, then definitely he's going to be on the
- 1:55:56Speaker 5: circuit for defensive coordinator openings because they, I mean, everybody
- 1:56:00Speaker 5: fixates on the head coach openings, there will be openings
- 1:56:03Speaker 5: with the coordinators as well.
- 1:56:05Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:56:05Speaker 6: I think he deserves a lot of credit though, because
- 1:56:08Speaker 6: the defensive line has been by far the best position
- 1:56:11Speaker 6: group on the the run defense is like without question, Yeah,
- 1:56:14Speaker 6: and those guys are developing, like Christian Barmore has taken
- 1:56:17Speaker 6: a huge leap. But I think Kean White's getting better
- 1:56:20Speaker 6: here later in the year. Anthony Jennings has stepped right
- 1:56:23Speaker 6: in, and that's one of his guys. As he told me
- 1:56:26Speaker 6: that I didn't know anything, and then Anthony Jenks meets
- 1:56:28Speaker 6: with him.
- 1:56:29Speaker 5: But yeah, those guys, all those.
- 1:56:31Speaker 6: Guys have played above expectations.
- 1:56:33Speaker 5: That's true.
- 1:56:33Speaker 6: Yeah, I'll tell you later.
- 1:56:34Speaker 1: So I'm looking for a little inside information. We're all
- 1:56:37Speaker 1: talking about Bill and whether or not he might come.
- 1:56:40Speaker 5: Back or not allowed to share.
- 1:56:41Speaker 1: We don't really know, but Paul, you might have some
- 1:56:44Speaker 1: inside information. What's the deal with Hardy? Is he coming
- 1:56:48Speaker 1: back next year with us.
- 1:56:51Speaker 5: To be determined. Oh so he has not No, okay,
- 1:56:55Speaker 5: he hasn't completely shut the door, and he would very
- 1:56:57Speaker 5: much be interested in Like he got mad because Mike
- 1:57:02Speaker 5: and I was sort of like wishing him well and
- 1:57:04Speaker 5: he's like whoa Like I said, well, you know that
- 1:57:07Speaker 5: Fred told you you have this job for life if
- 1:57:10Speaker 5: you want it. I did, And he's like, oh oh oh, well,
- 1:57:13Speaker 5: uh you know how he likes to work it like, well, Fred,
- 1:57:16Speaker 5: anything to make.
- 1:57:16Speaker 4: Maybe maybe we see how many night games there are.
- 1:57:19Speaker 5: So my guess is we will be looking for a
- 1:57:21Speaker 5: new host because it's going to be too much too.
- 1:57:24Speaker 1: Well, that was my assumption. But I don't want to
- 1:57:26Speaker 1: I have.
- 1:57:26Speaker 5: Some I have. I've got some thoughts that I can
- 1:57:28Speaker 5: share with you off air. Okay, all right, I have
- 1:57:32Speaker 5: a king that I could be making as usual.
- 1:57:34Speaker 1: Okay, all right, well listen, I just thought i'd close
- 1:57:38Speaker 1: that off for people to think about.
- 1:57:40Speaker 4: It's another big thing for the weekend, though Fred's.
- 1:57:45Speaker 6: Some say it's the biggest last of all.
- 1:57:49Speaker 5: This will be known as the Hardy game.
- 1:57:53Speaker 3: This might be the Slater game, could be the slater game.
- 1:57:56Speaker 5: That man talk to David Andrew. Seems like everybody's like
- 1:58:01Speaker 5: I don't know last year you might know a little something,
- 1:58:05Speaker 5: you guys, afraid he'd be afraid to share with the
- 1:58:08Speaker 5: rest of the class.
- 1:58:09Speaker 4: It just looks so exhausted from this season.
- 1:58:11Speaker 7: Like I just I just wonder at a certain point,
- 1:58:13Speaker 7: and I don't know, as a professional athlete, you put
- 1:58:15Speaker 7: it on the line every week and so much goes
- 1:58:17Speaker 7: into it is you know what points you just say, you.
- 1:58:19Speaker 5: Know what, that's right, high high level.
- 1:58:22Speaker 7: But but you know it's I mean, it was funny
- 1:58:25Speaker 7: just even seeing him and bergeron talk and how like
- 1:58:27Speaker 7: they were, you know, personally, he's like you you stay
- 1:58:29Speaker 7: here this long, like Burgeon comp believe the hours of
- 1:58:31Speaker 7: a football team and it's a lot, and he's won
- 1:58:34Speaker 7: championships and he's gotten beat up and he's got a
- 1:58:36Speaker 7: young family, and you know, I don't know, I just
- 1:58:38Speaker 7: it wouldn't it wouldn't surprise me that he doesn't want
- 1:58:40Speaker 7: to stick around for a whole new thing.
- 1:58:41Speaker 1: All Right, that's gonna do it for this edition of
