- 0:00Speaker 1: Mm from grandmothers who whispered in their baby girl in
- 0:13Speaker 1: two fathers on dimly lit street corners, instructing young soldiers
- 0:16Speaker 1: to always keep their eyes open. You be queen, you
- 0:21Speaker 1: were fired. You will pass through centuries on the hands
- 0:24Speaker 1: of your daughters. They called you wisdom. Proverbs on the
- 0:28Speaker 1: backs of diamond eyed school children who growing into hymnals
- 0:32Speaker 1: recited by amethyst holding urban philosophers who recited neighborhood commandments
- 0:37Speaker 1: out of the windows of restored Alchemedo cheriots. To keep
- 0:40Speaker 1: the warmth of their blood, be wise, be smart, being black,

- 1:09Speaker 1: Dropping Jim. Hey, welcome back another episode of the Dropping
- 1:14Speaker 1: Jim's Podcasts. We're in episode nineteen today. I'm your host,
- 1:18Speaker 1: Deevie Brown, and it has been a while. I know
- 1:23Speaker 1: y'all got questions. I have some answers for you, So
- 1:26Speaker 1: we're really going to explore so much in this episode
- 1:28Speaker 1: We're gonna talk about all that's been going on throughout
- 1:30Speaker 1: the pandemic, what I've been up to, some really big
- 1:34Speaker 1: epiphanies that I've had in this time, and I really
- 1:36Speaker 1: want to touch on our collective consciousness. So what we
- 1:40Speaker 1: are witnessing in the world, how we're experiencing it. We're
- 1:45Speaker 1: gonna unpack all that good stuff this episode. But I
- 1:48Speaker 1: would be remiss if I didn't start off by saying
- 1:52Speaker 1: thank you God. Number one, thank you God for the
- 1:56Speaker 1: gifts of our lives and even for the gifts of
- 2:00Speaker 1: the pandemic and the gifts of this really challenging moment
- 2:04Speaker 1: in time. But also thank you God for Joe Biden
- 2:09Speaker 1: and Kamala Harris. They are officially our president and vice
- 2:15Speaker 1: president elect, and my god, you know, when I thought
- 2:19Speaker 1: as this election cycle was happening, I mean, everything about
- 2:22Speaker 1: the world has been so strange, So that piece of
- 2:25Speaker 1: the puzzle was really you know, we're all trying to
- 2:28Speaker 1: wrap our heads around what's going to happen in our
- 2:30Speaker 1: best case scenarios and the worst case scenarios. And I
- 2:34Speaker 1: didn't know how it was going to feel either way,
- 2:37Speaker 1: because we're still also in the midst of being embedded
- 2:40Speaker 1: in this pandemic in the coronavirus COVID nineteen. You know,
- 2:44Speaker 1: there's so many things, so many things happening with our economy,
- 2:48Speaker 1: so much warring happening within ourselves and with each other.
- 2:52Speaker 1: You know, I was like, if we win, what's gonna happen.
- 2:55Speaker 1: If we lose, what's gonna happen. Um. But it felt
- 2:59Speaker 1: like for the first time in a really long time,
- 3:03Speaker 1: we were able to taste hope. We don't know what's
- 3:07Speaker 1: going to happen. We don't know really how all of
- 3:10Speaker 1: this is going to unfold because the current president is
- 3:13Speaker 1: a wild wild boy, um, so we don't really know
- 3:17Speaker 1: how all of that is going to play out. You know,
- 3:20Speaker 1: the Joe and Kamala have so much on their shoulders
- 3:23Speaker 1: right now, much like Obama did coming in after George Bush.
- 3:27Speaker 1: There's so much on their shoulders and so much that
- 3:30Speaker 1: has to be healed and so much that has to
- 3:33Speaker 1: be repaired. So we'll see how that unfolds. It's a big,
- 3:37Speaker 1: big job. But I think ultimately in this moment, something
- 3:40Speaker 1: we can really let ourselves do is savor the hope,
- 3:45Speaker 1: this idea that you know, maybe we can be reconnected
- 3:50Speaker 1: with the things that we loved about life and people
- 3:53Speaker 1: before this year kind of unfolded in the way that
- 3:56Speaker 1: it did. So I don't think too much about all
- 4:00Speaker 1: the things and all the systems and how we're gonna
- 4:02Speaker 1: make it work. Let yourself take a little moment to
- 4:04Speaker 1: dive into that remembrance of what it feels like to
- 4:10Speaker 1: be optimistic and to be able to look forward with
- 4:14Speaker 1: an idea of the best possible thing happening for our
- 4:19Speaker 1: highest good. I am savoring that. I am loving that.
- 4:23Speaker 1: And even though you know so much hasn't changed with out,
- 4:27Speaker 1: you know, our work and our day to day lives
- 4:30Speaker 1: and all of the things. Um I woke up this
- 4:32Speaker 1: morning and I came here and the sky felt brighter,
- 4:37Speaker 1: and so much more felt possible. So I feel deeply,
- 4:42Speaker 1: deeply grateful for that, and for this moment. I also
- 4:44Speaker 1: want to say, my God, I am beyond thrilled and
- 4:47Speaker 1: excited at the knowingness that this incredible woman is going
- 4:52Speaker 1: to be the vice president and potentially on the road
- 4:55Speaker 1: to a presidency of her own. Obviously, what we have
- 4:58Speaker 1: been seeing, you know, in our in our feeds, how
- 5:01Speaker 1: we've been feeling this is this is just historic, beyond measure,
- 5:05Speaker 1: the first female vice president, the first Indian American Jamaican
- 5:12Speaker 1: American vice president, the first woman with brown skin in
- 5:18Speaker 1: the White House. My god. And she comes from California.
- 5:24Speaker 1: She likes to wear chuck, She's from the town, She's
- 5:26Speaker 1: from Oakland. Like, I'm just so excited about the amount
- 5:30Speaker 1: of flavor that is going to come into this place
- 5:32Speaker 1: and come into this world. And not just that, but
- 5:35Speaker 1: the amount of experience. You know it. There's so much
- 5:39Speaker 1: to be said about letting people who know how to
- 5:43Speaker 1: do their job to their job. So I'll say that,
- 5:46Speaker 1: but I also want to really touch on and share
- 5:48Speaker 1: with you guys this fun story that I had so
- 5:51Speaker 1: last year. Uh, John Witherspoon may he rest in peace,
- 5:55Speaker 1: and his beautiful wife Angela Witherspoon, they held a fundraiser
- 6:00Speaker 1: for Kamala Harris when she was going to be running
- 6:02Speaker 1: for the presidency. So this is about a little over
- 6:05Speaker 1: a year ago, I believe, um. And they have this
- 6:09Speaker 1: luncheon at their home and their home is so beautiful,
- 6:12Speaker 1: just gorgeous, really enchanting. They have this outdoor luncheon to
- 6:17Speaker 1: meet Kamala and to hear her speak, and it was
- 6:19Speaker 1: really small. There was probably like maybe fifty people their
- 6:23Speaker 1: tops and I got a ticket and one of my
- 6:26Speaker 1: really close friends who I had on the podcast Humble
- 6:30Speaker 1: O conga credible human spirit. He and I went to
- 6:33Speaker 1: that together and we got to sit directly in front
- 6:36Speaker 1: of Kamala. And at that time, I was really indecided
- 6:39Speaker 1: about what direction I wanted to go in. I mean,
- 6:41Speaker 1: I think there was like fifteen people in the running
- 6:43Speaker 1: for the Democratic seat. But I knew that I needed
- 6:47Speaker 1: to see her and I knew that I needed to
- 6:49Speaker 1: hear from her, and so we went to their home
- 6:51Speaker 1: and we got to sit with her for lunch, and
- 6:54Speaker 1: she was just exquisite. I mean, both of us throughout
- 6:58Speaker 1: the whole day kept looking at each other there and
- 7:01Speaker 1: Jess like eyes kind of wild, like wow, she's magic.
- 7:04Speaker 1: It was actually such a beautiful experience. On our way out,
- 7:07Speaker 1: there were different community leaders from Los Angeles there and
- 7:10Speaker 1: we had a chance to pray for her. So I
- 7:12Speaker 1: actually had a chance to lay hands on Kamala and
- 7:15Speaker 1: we said a beautiful prayer for her and for her
- 7:18Speaker 1: journey and for her path. And I hope one day
- 7:21Speaker 1: I can find the pictures of that, because it was
- 7:23Speaker 1: a really special moment that I would never forget. And
- 7:26Speaker 1: also something I'm kind of hype about right now is
- 7:28Speaker 1: that do you all know what her middle name is?
- 7:32Speaker 1: Her middle name is Debbie, Debbie d v I. Yes, So,
- 7:37Speaker 1: I mean, you know, it doesn't actually mean anything, but
- 7:41Speaker 1: at the same time, I'm going to take credit for
- 7:43Speaker 1: it and think it's amazing. So there we are. So
- 7:48Speaker 1: let me catch you guys up. What have I been
- 7:50Speaker 1: up to while I've been gone. Well, our last episode
- 7:53Speaker 1: aired in April, and that episode, I believe was revolved
- 7:56Speaker 1: around our Divine time Out challenge. Big shout out to
- 7:59Speaker 1: any body that happened to do that with us. Uh,
- 8:02Speaker 1: it was incredible. We did that on UM, we did
- 8:07Speaker 1: that on karma blist dot com and the new community
- 8:10Speaker 1: that I created, which is called Karma Gang, and learned
- 8:12Speaker 1: about self care, really prepared for what this pandemic could
- 8:16Speaker 1: or would be. And so that was where I kind
- 8:19Speaker 1: of left off with you guys. And there were a
- 8:21Speaker 1: couple of reasons why I have been away from the
- 8:24Speaker 1: mic um lots of personal reasons which I won't be
- 8:27Speaker 1: diving into as we get through some of these shows,
- 8:30Speaker 1: because it gets very spicy and juicy to that respect,
- 8:34Speaker 1: but also I was in the midst of finalizing this
- 8:37Speaker 1: deal of how You're currently hearing Me, which was getting
- 8:42Speaker 1: this beautiful podcast onto the Black Effect Network on I
- 8:46Speaker 1: Heart Radio. One of my dearest friends, one of my
- 8:50Speaker 1: favorite human spirit, Charlotmagne, that God has truly made history
- 8:54Speaker 1: and he has launched something that has never been the
- 8:56Speaker 1: Black Effect Network. For I Heart, There's never been anything
- 8:59Speaker 1: like this, and he just continues to leave me in
- 9:03Speaker 1: complete awe of the empire that he has built and
- 9:07Speaker 1: continuing to build, and the way that his vision operates
- 9:11Speaker 1: and the people that he includes. So I'm really really
- 9:14Speaker 1: honored to be back connected to my Heart. I used
- 9:17Speaker 1: to be a radio personality with them for quite a while,
- 9:20Speaker 1: but so excited to be a part of the I
- 9:22Speaker 1: Heart podcast network, to be a part of the Black
- 9:24Speaker 1: Effect podcast network, so many shows speaking to so many
- 9:29Speaker 1: things that our spirits, our minds, even our bellies need.
- 9:34Speaker 1: So also, I took on a new beautiful opportunity. Since
- 9:38Speaker 1: I last spoke to you, many people know that my
- 9:42Speaker 1: A lot of my journey really really deepened when I
- 9:46Speaker 1: learned to meditate from Deepak Chopra, and this was roughly
- 9:50Speaker 1: eight years ago. I one of my very first meditation
- 9:53Speaker 1: retreat that I had ever been on. I was so
- 9:56Speaker 1: so restless and lost and confused. At the time, I
- 10:02Speaker 1: knew something in my life was calling to be changed.
- 10:05Speaker 1: I didn't know what, and I didn't know how. And
- 10:07Speaker 1: so I found myself at this Detox retreat in Carl's Bad, California,
- 10:12Speaker 1: which is right by San Diego, and it was rooted
- 10:15Speaker 1: in Deepox life practices and his life work. And from
- 10:19Speaker 1: that day forward, everything about the trajectory of my life
- 10:23Speaker 1: literally everything changed, and I was able to meet myself
- 10:28Speaker 1: so deeply for the very first time. So to have
- 10:31Speaker 1: had that experience and then to now, almost eight years later,
- 10:35Speaker 1: be able to sit here and tell you that I
- 10:38Speaker 1: was appointed in the last several months as Chief Impact
- 10:42Speaker 1: Officer of Deepox Company Choper Global, and I now serve
- 10:46Speaker 1: as the daily voice of meditation and inspiration on the
- 10:50Speaker 1: Choper app. To say it's a dream come true would
- 10:52Speaker 1: just be such a silly understatement. Its purpose come to life,
- 10:56Speaker 1: and it's really the embodiment of God's voice and the
- 11:01Speaker 1: way that he spoke to me many years ago when
- 11:03Speaker 1: I chose to transition my career. And so I say
- 11:06Speaker 1: that now not to be boastful, even though I do
- 11:08Speaker 1: feel extremely proud and excited. But I really say that
- 11:12Speaker 1: for anybody that needed it as confirmation and even permission
- 11:17Speaker 1: if you needed that, for you to listen to God,
- 11:20Speaker 1: and for you to listen to your own heart and
- 11:23Speaker 1: listen to your voice. One thing I know for sure
- 11:26Speaker 1: is God does not give you a dream that you
- 11:29Speaker 1: cannot fulfill. It would not be taking up space in
- 11:33Speaker 1: your mind, in your heart if you were not called
- 11:36Speaker 1: to birth it and to create it and to be
- 11:38Speaker 1: it or become it. So I really want to frame this.
- 11:48Speaker 1: I really want to sit in the gifts of the
- 11:51Speaker 1: pandemic right now. If it feels comfortable for you, guys,
- 11:54Speaker 1: let's get let's just get comfortable. Let's get comfortable in
- 11:59Speaker 1: this show. Let's take a second, let's sit down, let's
- 12:02Speaker 1: get adjusted, and let's just feel presently connected. Let's take
- 12:07Speaker 1: a deep breath together. If it feels comfortable and you're able.
- 12:11Speaker 1: If not, just enjoy this moment, but go ahead and
- 12:14Speaker 1: take a deep breath in through your nose right now
- 12:21Speaker 1: and release it through your nose. This is something I
- 12:26Speaker 1: like to do when I know it's time to get deep.
- 12:30Speaker 1: I like to get really anchored in the present moment
- 12:33Speaker 1: and really connected to this exact moment in time that
- 12:38Speaker 1: is filled with potential. Let's take another deep breath in
- 12:50Speaker 1: and at yourself release all right, that is some present
- 12:53Speaker 1: moment awareness for that ass. I just really want to
- 13:02Speaker 1: extend to you. And I'm going to repeat this so
- 13:05Speaker 1: many times and a matter of fact, write this down
- 13:07Speaker 1: if you feel so led. None of us are going
- 13:09Speaker 1: to get an A on the pandemic. Okay, let me
- 13:12Speaker 1: say that louder for the people in the back. None
- 13:14Speaker 1: of us are going to get an A on the pandemic.
- 13:17Speaker 1: So it is okay, take some of the pressure off.
- 13:21Speaker 1: We are going to find all the tools that we
- 13:23Speaker 1: need and we are going to turn this year that
- 13:27Speaker 1: I think many people have internalized as perhaps uh not
- 13:31Speaker 1: being the greatest year. Um. I believe we can really
- 13:34Speaker 1: reframe this, and this is something I've been working on,
- 13:37Speaker 1: is really reframing it as this is the most magical
- 13:41Speaker 1: year of my life. When I think about starting and
- 13:46Speaker 1: one of I think one of the episodes, you know,
- 13:48Speaker 1: we kind of went through what are our goals for
- 13:50Speaker 1: this vision and you know, the goals that I set
- 13:53Speaker 1: for my own life and the things that I've written down,
- 13:56Speaker 1: and the affirmations that I've put up, we're all rooted
- 13:59Speaker 1: around a few particular words. So one of those words
- 14:02Speaker 1: was freedom. I wanted to be free. I didn't really
- 14:07Speaker 1: know what that meant or how it would manifest, but
- 14:10Speaker 1: the words freedom and liberation just sat really really anchored
- 14:15Speaker 1: in my spirit, and so I wrote those down at
- 14:18Speaker 1: the top of And another word that really came forward
- 14:21Speaker 1: for me was supernatural, grace, ease, lightness of being, and
- 14:29Speaker 1: self mastery. So at the top of the year, when
- 14:32Speaker 1: I kind of wrote down what my ideal seeing for
- 14:34Speaker 1: my life would be and who I wanted to become
- 14:37Speaker 1: and how I wanted to feel, those were the words
- 14:40Speaker 1: that really anchored my spiritual values. And little did I know,
- 14:46Speaker 1: little did I know what those words were actually going
- 14:50Speaker 1: to turn into. But now as we're at the end
- 14:53Speaker 1: of and I'm seeing how much um this work has
- 14:57Speaker 1: manifested in my life and way that I could have
- 15:00Speaker 1: never fathomed, even in the midst of some of this chaos,
- 15:05Speaker 1: even in the midst of some really profound discomfort that
- 15:09Speaker 1: I've been walking through, I feel so grateful. I feel
- 15:14Speaker 1: so grateful for the opportunity. Sometimes we are so overwhelmed
- 15:20Speaker 1: by the amount of trauma that we have to unearth
- 15:25Speaker 1: from the experiences of our lives that we avoid it.
- 15:28Speaker 1: We're not able to see the gift in it. Sometimes
- 15:31Speaker 1: I like to call this the gift wrapped in ship paper,
- 15:36Speaker 1: right like, it's still a gift. We got to get
- 15:38Speaker 1: through some things to get to it. But there's always
- 15:41Speaker 1: a gift underneath it. There's always I've found this supernatural
- 15:46Speaker 1: grace that the divine has woven into every challenge. And
- 15:51Speaker 1: when we're able to connect to that thread, that thread
- 15:54Speaker 1: of grace and our life's tapestry, the ability for everything
- 15:58Speaker 1: to open up and the ability for us to heal
- 16:02Speaker 1: in an accelerated way, the ability for us to show
- 16:04Speaker 1: up as our highest potential just unpacks and unfolds so beautifully.
- 16:10Speaker 1: So for anybody listening right now that I is saying,
- 16:12Speaker 1: I don't know what opportunity exists in this, I think
- 16:15Speaker 1: there's so much beauty and being able to sit in
- 16:18Speaker 1: yourself and say, well, at least I'm able to recognize
- 16:23Speaker 1: my areas of discomfort. I can call them out by name,
- 16:26Speaker 1: I can see them, because if you can see them,
- 16:30Speaker 1: then the path to their dissolving becomes so much more clear.
- 16:34Speaker 1: And I think that's what a lot of people, and
- 16:35Speaker 1: a lot of people listening to this show especially, are
- 16:39Speaker 1: really realizing about this unique time and really realizing about
- 16:44Speaker 1: this moment, is that we do have the power to
- 16:48Speaker 1: create the life of our dreams, even in the most difficult,
- 16:54Speaker 1: difficult circumstances. And when we get to the to the
- 16:58Speaker 1: root of what a life of your dream means, it
- 17:00Speaker 1: doesn't have anything to do with success. It has everything
- 17:04Speaker 1: to do with how we feel about ourselves, how we're
- 17:07Speaker 1: able to regulate ourselves, how we're able to experience ourselves
- 17:11Speaker 1: and be with ourselves. And I think if we really
- 17:14Speaker 1: take the opportunity that this year has afforded us, there
- 17:19Speaker 1: is limitless potential for how we can build into that
- 17:24Speaker 1: and how we can amplify ourselves regardless of circumstance. And
- 17:28Speaker 1: these skills aren't going nowhere, because once you learn how
- 17:31Speaker 1: to cultivate that, once you learn how to show up
- 17:34Speaker 1: for you, you can never unlearn it, kind of like
- 17:36Speaker 1: riding a bike, you can never unlearn it. So often
- 17:40Speaker 1: we can get even when we're committed to growth, we
- 17:43Speaker 1: can get a little complacent, right, um, But this is
- 17:47Speaker 1: a lifelong journey, and there is going to be a
- 17:50Speaker 1: constant shedding that happens for each of us. And I'll say,
- 17:54Speaker 1: in this moment, you know, I I really like to
- 17:57Speaker 1: the version I of me I was before this been Amick.
- 18:00Speaker 1: I was pretty proud of her and the work that
- 18:02Speaker 1: we've done. Um, and I thought I was going to
- 18:04Speaker 1: be able to be her for a while, and then
- 18:09Speaker 1: this moment in time came up and showed me there
- 18:12Speaker 1: was more. And so we all have to just continue
- 18:15Speaker 1: to extend the dignity of our process to ourselves and
- 18:18Speaker 1: really walk through whatever this is with gentleness, tenderness of self,
- 18:26Speaker 1: and as much joy as possible. So that has been
- 18:31Speaker 1: my hiatus, and you know, kind of just observing collectively
- 18:34Speaker 1: what is going on in the world, aside from it
- 18:38Speaker 1: being a zoo and being like sometimes just like outrageously bizarre. Um,
- 18:46Speaker 1: it's been it's been really fascinating to observe our collective experience.
- 18:52Speaker 1: So let's talk about this collective experience that we are
- 18:55Speaker 1: all going through together. We have our individual journeys, right,
- 18:58Speaker 1: our spiritual curriculum that we kind of carved and crafted
- 19:02Speaker 1: before we embodied on earth, and we have the curriculum
- 19:07Speaker 1: of our family systems quite often, and the curriculum of
- 19:11Speaker 1: our friendships and our socioeconomic backgrounds and all the different
- 19:17Speaker 1: pieces of the recipes that have come together, and then
- 19:20Speaker 1: we have our collective experience as humanity. And that's the
- 19:24Speaker 1: part that can be more triggering than anything. You know,
- 19:28Speaker 1: how you get a little woke, and then you get
- 19:30Speaker 1: mad at everybody, you know, because it's like, why can't
- 19:32Speaker 1: you be woke too? Why am I the only one
- 19:35Speaker 1: speaking this language? Uh? That's kind of how it is now.
- 19:38Speaker 1: Right when we think about the state of our world politically,
- 19:41Speaker 1: Something that occurred to me a few days ago that
- 19:44Speaker 1: I just thought was so strange is that as we
- 19:47Speaker 1: have conversations about Donald Trump, the fact that more of
- 19:50Speaker 1: these conversations are not rallied around mental health. It's honestly
- 19:55Speaker 1: very strange to me. Mental health has become such a
- 19:59Speaker 1: mainstream and really often misunderstood and um oftentimes kept far
- 20:06Speaker 1: to surface aspect of popular culture. Right now, It's incredibly
- 20:11Speaker 1: important mental health, spiritual health, well being as a whole.
- 20:14Speaker 1: But I feel like, because it's become so trendy, a
- 20:17Speaker 1: lot of it is just staying in surface level conversations
- 20:20Speaker 1: and it's not coming down to a point that's actually
- 20:23Speaker 1: really giving people a blueprint or a map on how
- 20:26Speaker 1: to have more access to it or what to do
- 20:28Speaker 1: with it outside of now knowing the phrase mental health
- 20:33Speaker 1: or knowing that therapists exists, you know, it's like really
- 20:36Speaker 1: taking it to that next level of learning how to experience, apply,
- 20:41Speaker 1: and then embody. So it's been really interesting to me
- 20:44Speaker 1: that although there are so many events and so many shows,
- 20:47Speaker 1: and so many things that are talking about mental health,
- 20:51Speaker 1: why are we not discussing the fact that it's very
- 20:54Speaker 1: clear that Donald Trump has illness. I think it's very
- 20:58Speaker 1: clear that Don Trump is on the sociopic spectrum. I
- 21:02Speaker 1: believe him to be a sociopath. I think it's very
- 21:05Speaker 1: clear that he is a high level narcissist as well,
- 21:09Speaker 1: really grandizing, a pathological liar. And I think it's clear
- 21:13Speaker 1: that he potentially has borderline personality disorder. And that's just
- 21:17Speaker 1: off the top based on my experience and study. So
- 21:21Speaker 1: the fact that I don't see more psychologists speaking to this,
- 21:24Speaker 1: the fact that I don't see more made of this
- 21:27Speaker 1: in the time of mental health, it's so strange. We
- 21:32Speaker 1: need to be studying this. And I always will ask
- 21:36Speaker 1: of you guys to study yourselves. You know, I'm a
- 21:38Speaker 1: big believer that I study myself and I study the world.
- 21:43Speaker 1: I'm a student of me, I'm a student of the world.
- 21:45Speaker 1: I'm a student of God. And I think it's important
- 21:48Speaker 1: that we apply that type of deeper understanding, excavation, and
- 21:54Speaker 1: curiosity to all the things that are happening to us
- 21:58Speaker 1: in the midst of this global pen demic and in
- 22:00Speaker 1: the midst of this trump erra coming to an end.
- 22:04Speaker 1: This moment in time that we're experiencing on Earth, it's
- 22:08Speaker 1: a time that has never been sure. We've all seen
- 22:13Speaker 1: the newsreels. I mean, it's life has never been easy
- 22:16Speaker 1: on Earth. Be clear, life has never been even close
- 22:20Speaker 1: to ideal or perfect for anyone. We've had major, major
- 22:25Speaker 1: things in our human history. You know, we've all been taught,
- 22:28Speaker 1: we've all read, we've all experienced UM from our personal
- 22:33Speaker 1: lived experience. But then there's a moment like this that
- 22:38Speaker 1: is this pot luck of experience, this pot luck of
- 22:45Speaker 1: experience UM that is creating a meal that doesn't really
- 22:50Speaker 1: go together but is nourishing us deeply. We have never
- 22:56Speaker 1: in human history ever processed this much at the same
- 23:02Speaker 1: time before. So let's really get let's really take stock
- 23:07Speaker 1: of where we're at as a human species and the
- 23:11Speaker 1: things that we are processing in this moment. One. We're
- 23:14Speaker 1: processing a global pandemic, right We're processing a major, major
- 23:20Speaker 1: health emergency that has overtaken the globe. It's filled many
- 23:24Speaker 1: of us with fear. There has been an extreme amount
- 23:29Speaker 1: of loss of life, an extreme amount of personal discomfort.
- 23:35Speaker 1: Things can be very triggering, like wearing masks, feeling like
- 23:39Speaker 1: our breath is restricted, having something on your face, being
- 23:42Speaker 1: told you can't do something, being laid off, being furloughed,
- 23:46Speaker 1: having financial hardship, having the routine of your daily life uprooted.
- 23:53Speaker 1: That's major, major trauma. We're also experiencing the common nation
- 24:00Speaker 1: of centuries of oppression being brought to light in a
- 24:06Speaker 1: way they haven't been before, which has also been one
- 24:09Speaker 1: of the gifts of the pandemic. Everyone is being forced
- 24:12Speaker 1: to sit and to gaze at the world at the
- 24:15Speaker 1: same time in real time, process and unpack at the
- 24:18Speaker 1: same time in real time, and not being able to
- 24:21Speaker 1: avoid themselves, or avoid difficult conversations, or avoid racism, or
- 24:27Speaker 1: avoid sexism, or avoid any of the things, any of
- 24:31Speaker 1: the other rings that have been going on since the
- 24:33Speaker 1: dawn of time. We are all forced to look at
- 24:36Speaker 1: things at the same time, in real time, and for
- 24:39Speaker 1: a lot of people who didn't know the deeper reality
- 24:43Speaker 1: of what the world looks like for other people with
- 24:48Speaker 1: different backgrounds, Uh, it's been incredibly probably frightening, it's been
- 24:54Speaker 1: incredibly triggering. Um, it's been incredibly shameful, I think for
- 25:00Speaker 1: a lot of people. And there's no way to avoid
- 25:03Speaker 1: or distract from that. For the people who this has
- 25:05Speaker 1: been their lived experience, there's so many layers. One it's
- 25:09Speaker 1: the reliving of trauma. It's the constant sight and sounds
- 25:14Speaker 1: and experience of people being murdered, people being oppressed, the
- 25:20Speaker 1: effects of systemic racism being spelled out plainly. To really
- 25:24Speaker 1: sit in that and to really know there is a
- 25:27Speaker 1: percentage of us who are and have been woke to
- 25:31Speaker 1: these realities, right. But then there's also a percentage of
- 25:34Speaker 1: people who, even having lived these realities, didn't have the
- 25:38Speaker 1: languaging around it, didn't have the structure around it, didn't
- 25:42Speaker 1: have the history lesson or the connectedness to what that
- 25:48Speaker 1: lived experience was. And when it starts to shape up
- 25:52Speaker 1: around you, it's even more terrifying. It's even more enraging
- 26:00Speaker 1: when you're really seen and giving name and giving word
- 26:04Speaker 1: and giving process to what you have known deep inside
- 26:07Speaker 1: but hadn't set out loud before. That's trauma. That's traumatic.
- 26:13Speaker 1: It's the reliving of historical trauma, a reliving of your
- 26:17Speaker 1: own trauma, and then an amplification of and an extending
- 26:21Speaker 1: of trauma because now you're putting the pieces together in
- 26:25Speaker 1: new ways. You're having conversations and bigger, more vast ways.
- 26:29Speaker 1: You're having expansion of self in this process, and the
- 26:34Speaker 1: unfairness you already felt is now amplified in every direction,
- 26:39Speaker 1: and you're understanding why things always felt different. You're understanding
- 26:44Speaker 1: why things always felt unfair, and you're understanding why no
- 26:49Speaker 1: matter what you did, or how you filled yourself or
- 26:53Speaker 1: what God you prayed to, there was always a seed
- 26:57Speaker 1: of not enoughness and unworthiness inside of you that never
- 27:01Speaker 1: had anything to do with you. So we're processing that.
- 27:07Speaker 1: We're feeling a gratitude for this expansion, but we're also
- 27:11Speaker 1: grieving so deeply, and we're also irritated and enraged, and
- 27:17Speaker 1: you're really beginning to understand. And thanks to the power
- 27:20Speaker 1: of the Internet and thanks to the power of being
- 27:22Speaker 1: able to see how different people with different backgrounds are
- 27:25Speaker 1: moving through the pandemic. We're really seen the differences, we're
- 27:30Speaker 1: really seeing the classism at play, and we're really seeing
- 27:36Speaker 1: how much the effects of systemic racism per me every
- 27:41Speaker 1: fiber of everyone's being in this country and beyond. So
- 27:46Speaker 1: that's a lot. So that's one piece of it. Another
- 27:50Speaker 1: piece that we're processing at great length right now, especially
- 27:54Speaker 1: for women, are all the pieces of the feminist puzzle,
- 27:59Speaker 1: all the pieces of the patriarchy unfolding themselves. Right We're
- 28:03Speaker 1: really really understanding for the first time the role that
- 28:08Speaker 1: women and especially women of color, have been forced to
- 28:13Speaker 1: carry and endure. So there's this there is this deep
- 28:18Speaker 1: unpacking and this deep unfolding that is all in service
- 28:22Speaker 1: to our highest good. But it's all happening at once.
- 28:27Speaker 1: We're having larger conversations about gender identity, larger conversations about
- 28:33Speaker 1: sexuality that have never happened in human history. People are
- 28:40Speaker 1: showing up as their full selves for the first time
- 28:44Speaker 1: in the history of ever, and we think, oh, it's hey,
- 28:49Speaker 1: we have the Internet. Hey we're a modern society. Yeah,
- 28:54Speaker 1: but for things to be embodied, we have to have
- 28:57Speaker 1: the dignity of our process. For things to be proces tessed,
- 29:00Speaker 1: we have to have stillness, we have to have our
- 29:03Speaker 1: hearts opened, we have to have thought applied to them.
- 29:06Speaker 1: So that's part of why the pandemic, which is already difficult,
- 29:10Speaker 1: has been feeling even more isolating. There is so much
- 29:13Speaker 1: processing happening inside of you on every level of how
- 29:17Speaker 1: you've ever believed the world to be true, of how
- 29:20Speaker 1: you've ever thought of your family structure, of how you
- 29:23Speaker 1: ever thought of yourself. Every fiber, every facet of the
- 29:28Speaker 1: way we have connected to Earth and our identity is
- 29:31Speaker 1: being challenged, just being excavated, it's being illuminated. Also, so
- 29:36Speaker 1: many of us are in personal isolation as we're doing this.
- 29:40Speaker 1: So if you have been using life and experiences, your job,
- 29:44Speaker 1: the roles that you play, your title fun friends to
- 29:48Speaker 1: distract yourselves from you, well, now that's been taken away, right,
- 29:53Speaker 1: So we are being pushed and propelled to ascend, and
- 29:57Speaker 1: I want to reframe it in that way. Is specially
- 30:01Speaker 1: because it's easy for us to go through that list
- 30:04Speaker 1: of things that I have just been going through and
- 30:07Speaker 1: think how sorry we feel for ourselves, or how difficult
- 30:12Speaker 1: this is. But in actuality. What a profound gift. We
- 30:18Speaker 1: are all being pushed to ascend to a version of
- 30:22Speaker 1: ourselves we've never been. That's better than we've ever been.
- 30:26Speaker 1: But it's challenging and it's hard, and it requires work,
- 30:31Speaker 1: and it requires this really meeting ourselves, and to meet
- 30:34Speaker 1: ourselves means we have to also look at our monsters.
- 30:39Speaker 1: We have to also look at the pieces of ourselves
- 30:41Speaker 1: we've wanted to hide. We're doing big processing right now,
- 30:45Speaker 1: and not just for us, and and this applies to
- 30:49Speaker 1: whatever background you're from, whatever group you're a part of,
- 30:53Speaker 1: whatever culture you represent. We are doing major and sstral
- 31:00Speaker 1: healing of trauma right now. And I think that's one
- 31:03Speaker 1: of the biggest reasons why it feels so heavy. Why
- 31:06Speaker 1: even the person that is known as being the strongest,
- 31:09Speaker 1: and I know a lot of people listening right now
- 31:11Speaker 1: can identify with this. The person who may be the
- 31:14Speaker 1: fixer and their family are always known as the strong one,
- 31:17Speaker 1: is having a really hard time. And that's because we're
- 31:20Speaker 1: not just processing for ourselves right now. And that long
- 31:24Speaker 1: list that I just went through, we're not just healing ourselves.
- 31:27Speaker 1: In that long list of healing that needs to be
- 31:30Speaker 1: done all the healing, all the processing, all the excavation,
- 31:36Speaker 1: all of the beautiful self discovery that we are plowing
- 31:41Speaker 1: through right now in record time in this accelerated timeline,
- 31:45Speaker 1: is also fully in service to the healing of our lineage, past, present, future.
- 31:53Speaker 1: So that means us, that means every ancestor that came
- 31:56Speaker 1: before us, and that means a shifting of the traject
- 32:00Speaker 1: story of any seeds that come from us. So the
- 32:03Speaker 1: stakes are higher. And I say all this not to
- 32:07Speaker 1: overwhelm you, but to really get you excited about who
- 32:13Speaker 1: you are and who you're becoming. As challenging as this
- 32:19Speaker 1: moment in time is, and I'm going to really impact
- 32:22Speaker 1: my story for you over the next few episodes, But
- 32:25Speaker 1: in the deepest part of the challenge that this moment
- 32:27Speaker 1: in time has presented to me, I wake up and
- 32:31Speaker 1: I still think, my God, what a gift. How lucky
- 32:35Speaker 1: am I to have been chosen for this exact moment
- 32:37Speaker 1: in time, one of the most complex, layered, difficult times
- 32:43Speaker 1: in the history of the human race. That processing, that
- 32:48Speaker 1: collective processing of grief, that collective processing of centuries of
- 32:54Speaker 1: unhealed trauma. How lucky am I that the divine saw
- 32:58Speaker 1: me fit to show up in this moment and in
- 33:01Speaker 1: this way, So on your hardest day, reframe in that way.
- 33:05Speaker 1: This is opportunity. And the mechanisms have changed the mechanisms
- 33:11Speaker 1: of healing. It's something we can always count on to
- 33:14Speaker 1: guide the way. When we just look at the structure
- 33:18Speaker 1: of what healing is and how it operates, it really
- 33:22Speaker 1: gives us a piece because there is an end in sight,
- 33:25Speaker 1: you know. I saw this. I saw this meme on
- 33:27Speaker 1: Instagram and it was actually a little problematic. Not my faith,
- 33:31Speaker 1: but it was. It was one of those memes that
- 33:33Speaker 1: was like choose your hard right like marriage is hard,
- 33:35Speaker 1: divorce is hard, this is hard. That is hard. It
- 33:38Speaker 1: was problematic. I mean, there was some reframing I would
- 33:41Speaker 1: have done on that, But I do think it's important
- 33:44Speaker 1: to think in that context. I think a lot of
- 33:46Speaker 1: people who avoid doing some of the work one we
- 33:49Speaker 1: got to give them grace because it just may not
- 33:51Speaker 1: be in their life's plan, and so they just need
- 33:54Speaker 1: to follow God's lead and we do the best we
- 33:56Speaker 1: can do. But for those that are really feeling called
- 34:00Speaker 1: to change or to grow um but are feeling a
- 34:02Speaker 1: little too stuck in the older versions of themselves, the
- 34:06Speaker 1: outdated virgins of themselves. Growth is hard. Pain is hard, right,
- 34:11Speaker 1: Growth is hard, Trauma is hard. They're both challenging. They're
- 34:15Speaker 1: both difficult. But when we choose growth, and when we
- 34:18Speaker 1: choose to lean in like a moment like this, there
- 34:22Speaker 1: is an end in sight. There is a shifting that happens.
- 34:26Speaker 1: The hard changes, there's a piece that takes over the
- 34:31Speaker 1: space where that trauma used to sit. Versus when we
- 34:35Speaker 1: choose to stay stuck in our stories and in our
- 34:38Speaker 1: narratives and in our trauma and our pain, we'll just
- 34:42Speaker 1: always be there, you know. So when you think of
- 34:45Speaker 1: choosing your hard choosing what she'll give your time to,
- 34:51Speaker 1: always bet on yourself, Always bet on your advancement. It
- 34:55Speaker 1: will never lead you astray. There is always a better
- 35:00Speaker 1: to be had when we seek that and give yourself
- 35:03Speaker 1: the dignity of your process. I can't stress this enough.
- 35:07Speaker 1: You're not going to get an a on a global pandemic.
- 35:10Speaker 1: No one is walking through this unscathed, not a soul,
- 35:13Speaker 1: and no one is going to get a prize. There
- 35:16Speaker 1: is nothing to be had with feeling like you're doing
- 35:23Speaker 1: great at this or judging someone else as not surviving
- 35:27Speaker 1: this well. Right, Like This is just about our personal
- 35:31Speaker 1: process and extending to ourselves the dignity of that process
- 35:36Speaker 1: and letting it be whatever it's supposed to be. And
- 35:41Speaker 1: for each of us that's going to be different, and
- 35:42Speaker 1: for each of us that's going to require a certain
- 35:44Speaker 1: amount of self investigation. But there's something to be had
- 35:50Speaker 1: here for all of us. M All right, we're back
- 36:06Speaker 1: and it's time to lead into a little soul work.
- 36:10Speaker 1: So something I'm really excited about doing for the show
- 36:14Speaker 1: now is really creating space for opportunities to embody. We've
- 36:20Speaker 1: talked quite a bit about what healing process looks like
- 36:24Speaker 1: and what the dignity of our own individual process looks like.
- 36:28Speaker 1: And part of that extension of dignity to ourselves and
- 36:33Speaker 1: healing is giving ourselves time to savor the lesson and
- 36:39Speaker 1: to embody the newer version of ourselves. And the work
- 36:44Speaker 1: isn't complete until we process and embody. So first comes
- 36:49Speaker 1: the intellectualization. We get the information. We get the knowledge,
- 36:53Speaker 1: then comes the process. We apply it to ourselves. We
- 36:57Speaker 1: see what fits, we see what we can let go
- 37:01Speaker 1: of and what we can add, and then we embody.
- 37:06Speaker 1: We live it. It seeps out of our pores, It
- 37:10Speaker 1: enters the room before we get there, and that's the
- 37:14Speaker 1: piece that we're really going to refine as we go
- 37:16Speaker 1: through the episodes of this podcast. Okay, we're going to process,
- 37:20Speaker 1: we're gonna intellectualize, we are going to embody, we're going
- 37:23Speaker 1: to master. So a little journal prompt that I have
- 37:27Speaker 1: for you to really lead you into this week and
- 37:30Speaker 1: anchor you into whatever work you are currently doing with
- 37:34Speaker 1: yourself with your soul would be And if it feels comfortable,
- 37:38Speaker 1: go ahead and grab a pen to drop this down
- 37:41Speaker 1: or revisit this a little bit later. But your soul
- 37:45Speaker 1: work for the week is take stock of how you
- 37:50Speaker 1: feel right now, do a little self inventory. I highly
- 37:57Speaker 1: recommend this tool as something to really do every quarter,
- 38:01Speaker 1: but at minimum once a year, either on the New Year,
- 38:04Speaker 1: on your New Year, which is your birthday. But sit down,
- 38:07Speaker 1: get a piece of paper, get a journal out, and
- 38:11Speaker 1: I want you to jest without judgment of self. Just
- 38:15Speaker 1: really start writing down, either novel style or bullet pointed inventory,
- 38:22Speaker 1: personal inventory of how you are feeling about yourself in
- 38:26Speaker 1: your life right now. And it's really important to try
- 38:29Speaker 1: to come to this space from a neutral feeling. So
- 38:33Speaker 1: if it's comfortable and if you have the bandwidth for it.
- 38:35Speaker 1: I would recommend sitting down and meditating for a few
- 38:39Speaker 1: moments before you do this, making sure that you don't
- 38:42Speaker 1: have any emotional charge connected to any specific thing, and
- 38:47Speaker 1: then just write down without judgment, how you feel. And
- 38:52Speaker 1: it's okay. If it's I feel terrible today, it's okay.
- 38:57Speaker 1: If it's I feel all right today, it's okay. If
- 39:00Speaker 1: it's I feel great today, none of that matters. There's
- 39:04Speaker 1: no test. You're not getting get an A or an
- 39:07Speaker 1: F based on how you feel. This is just for
- 39:09Speaker 1: you to connect to the innermost part of you and
- 39:14Speaker 1: get clear on where your work lies. So take personal
- 39:19Speaker 1: inventory this week and just jot down with bullet points,
- 39:24Speaker 1: how you're feeling in every sector of your life personally, professionally,
- 39:29Speaker 1: all of the facets, all of the roles. Let's just
- 39:33Speaker 1: get it on paper, and let's observe it from a
- 39:35Speaker 1: very neutral space, and then we'll talk about what to
- 39:40Speaker 1: do with it next week. Okay, deal, take a second
- 39:44Speaker 1: right now, as we close out the show, let's just
- 39:46Speaker 1: get comfortable. I just have a few words to share
- 39:49Speaker 1: with you, So if you can, if you're able to
- 39:52Speaker 1: just gently close your eyes let's kind of go from
- 39:55Speaker 1: the top of our head to the tips of our
- 39:57Speaker 1: toes and just do a really nice little gan of
- 40:00Speaker 1: ourselves and our bodies. Our emotions are energetic bodies, and
- 40:09Speaker 1: anywhere that you might be holding tension, anywhere that feels
- 40:13Speaker 1: a little stuck, go ahead and like move your neck
- 40:17Speaker 1: from side to side if it feels good. Loosen your shoulders,
- 40:23Speaker 1: loosen your job, wiggle your toes, and let's just get
- 40:28Speaker 1: soft and now just naturally breathing in and out through
- 40:33Speaker 1: your nose at a pace that feels good to you.
- 40:40Speaker 1: I want you to hear my voice in the words
- 40:42Speaker 1: that I'm saying, and then repeat them to yourself, either
- 40:47Speaker 1: out loud or silently deep inside. I am worthy. I
- 40:57Speaker 1: am worthy. M I am enough. I am enough. I
- 41:14Speaker 1: am equipped with all the tools I need for this life.
- 41:22Speaker 1: I am equipped with all the tools I need for
- 41:28Speaker 1: this life. Love you guys, Catch you next week. I'm
