- Robin Axline: Hello and welcome to Petty and Unbothered, your favorite, favorite, favorite, favorite Hundred Times a million podcast. Woo-hoo! I'm Robin Axline, and this is my lovely co-host. Yay! Tita Lors: TIta Lors! Hi everyone. Robin Axline: Hi everyone. Thanks for tuning in. Glad to have ya. Well, how's your heart doing today, Lora? Well Thursday is the new Friday, so yeah. Didn't you get the memo? Tita Lors: No well, I made it my Friday, so I created my own damn memo. Robin Axline: I was when Yes, you knew it before Tita Lors: Yeah. Robin Axline: it was cool. I was explaining that to Ryan when he was visiting that Thursday was the new Friday. Tita Lors: Uh-huh. Did he get the memo? He did not. Robin Axline: He like, really interesting and I was like, Yeah Tita Lors: Yeah. Robin Axline: I mean in our in my neighborhood it definitely is. Like people be wild to know. Hmm. Tita Lors: is that so funny. No, for so he's doing like shift I bet. He's doing shift work now with the new schedule and he like he doesn't need his weekends are in the middle of the week. Yeah. So like Wednesday and Thursday, this is actually his Sunday. Robin Axline: my goodness. Whew. That's a that's a shift. Tita Lors: I know, so it's throwing me off because I keep thinking, it's the weekend, so I should be doing weekend stuff, but it's not. Yeah, so like weekend stuff is gonna be after tomorrow, I guess, like all the laundry and all those things. And I'm just like, This is so confusing. I don't know what to do with myself. Robin Axline: Right. Like you gotta almost like be on your own kind of path away a a little bit and then I yeah, that's hard. That's a really tough one. Tita Lors: Yeah, it's weird. So props to all you people doing shift work because this is not for the birds. Yeah. It sucks. Cause Ian does shift work too, right? Robin Axline: Yeah. And so that's why I'm like, mm-hmm, mm-hmm, mm-hmm. Like when days get moved around, it feels like the weekend, but then it's like not the weekend for me. Like I still need to like do things. I can't just like act like it's the weekend. So I know exactly what what that's like. Tita Lors: So it's like it's frustrat it's cool 'cause like there's like an extra body in the house to help and I can focus on other things that need to get done during the week. But then it's also not cool 'cause it's you know, I we t I think we've talked about on our own of like it's not like we don't want them around, it's just that we had a plan for how Robin Axline: Ha ha ha. Tita Lors: the day was gonna go and now it's going different. Robin Axline: Yes. Yeah, no, totally, totally. gosh. That is so funny. Man. Hey, we we're we're all just doing our best. Yeah. god. Well, I guess for you it's your weekend now, right? Or Tita Lors: Yeah. Yes, my weekend started at twelve thirty. That was my last client when that ended. So now it is my weekend. We are done so. Mm-hmm. Robin Axline: week. That's nice. You just do your own weekend. Tita Lors: Exactly. And and also like I switched around some clients. So every other Monday I don't usually I put my clients on like every other days or that I see every other day on either Monday or Thursday. So I could like potentially have longer weekends. So right now I have like every other Monday with no clients whatsoever, which is good and bad. Good because now I have an even more extended weekend, but bad because I'm I I don't have clients. So if you need a therapist, reach Robin Axline: Reach out. Reach out, y'all. Tita Lors: out one counseling services.com. Robin Axline: I like that name. That's a good name. Y'all listen up. So Tita Lors: Thank you. I might change it though. Robin Axline: Of course. This is a good name, but Tita Lors: We like this second time. I like it. And it has meaning behind it. But also, with like the name of the other podcast that I work on, I really enjoy that name too. And I think it would be really cool for for a a practice. But we'll see. I don't know. I go back and forth on this all the time. Robin Axline: I mean that's yeah, those are good you're you you're just lousy with the good names, I guess you could say. Tita Lors: I know. what can I say? Robin Axline: man, so any news. shall we jump into the topic at hand? Okay. Tita Lors: Let's go for it. Robin Axline: basically what spurred this on is I was kind of in a feeling some type of way that Indiana fever beat my team, New York Liberty. And I was like, it's my team, what happened? Yay. Tita Lors: I don't even know what that is. Robin Axline: it's the WNBA Tita Lors: I know nothing. I know I know that I l I in hockey I root for the Mighty Ducks because duh Disney. And then because I love rooting for the underdog, in football I always root for the Chargers. Robin Axline: Okay. Tita Lors: 'Cause even when they're up, just give till like the second half. And they are they're they're bound to mess something up if you give them too much credit. Mm-hmm. So those those are the teams that I root for and know anything about. That's it. All done. I know sports. Woo-woo! Robin Axline: Woo-hoo. Tita Lors: Ha ha ha. Robin Axline: I've just kind of like fallen into the magic of it myself, so it's it's a little different. And and in fact, speaking of Ryan's visit, I was talking to him about going like trying to go to a game soon. I was looking up tickets and stuff. And 'cause I've been before and it's like almost like going to a rock concert or something. Like it's like twenty-four seven like energy, just entertaining, like not even just the basketball game, but in between, like the mascots dancing around. Ellie shout out shouts out to Ellie the elephant. and then now there's like another one that was kind of like a retired mascot that seems to be back for a little bit. Tita Lors: Mm-hmm. Okay. Mm-hmm. wow. That sounds fun. Robin Axline: T shirt cannons, call and responses, like just like it's really fun. Even like if yeah, even if you're not a basketball person, it's just fun to go. Tita Lors: So when I was in high school, my dad he was working for someone and we got tickets to watch a basketball game and I'm pretty sure it like the Lakers and they were s like sweet tickets and all of that stuff. But it's not it's really crazy. The whole time I was there I was doing math homework. Robin Axline: Listeners, you're gonna have to look at my face if you want an on the YouTube. Tita Lors: Ha ha. I was doing math homework, not because I didn't find it interesting, but because I knew that I would get in trouble if I went to this event that I was forced to go to and I didn't finish my homework. So Robin Axline: Wow, what a great student you are. Tita Lors: Yeah, I got a lot of props from everyone because everyone's like, Wow, you're so dedicated. You're so studious. You're at a basketball game doing homework and I was like, If you only knew I I don't have a choice here. Like Robin Axline: Mm. Right. Tita Lors: I have one, I have to be here and two, I have to do my homework. So Robin Axline: Yeah. Tita Lors: I don't know what the solution is. This is my solution. So I did really get to enjoy the basketball game, but I was like, I'm here. I technically Robin Axline: Yeah. Tita Lors: saw it. I can technically tell people I went to a Lakers game. Do I know who won or who they were playing? Not a single clue. Robin Axline: my gosh. I was gonna say you were like analog double screening or whatever. Tita Lors: my god, yeah, seriously. Robin Axline: man. But I I mean that actually reminds me of a conversation I had with somebody this past week about when you almost have like a paralysis when there's like two things and there's like one thing that's not maybe not so fun and you feel bad so you're like, well yeah, I better do my homework. And but I got invited to a party tonight, but I need to get my homework done. And so like all that's running in your mind and then you decide to do the the proper thing and stay at home and do your homework. But then the whole time you're like almost frozen in time kind of thing and yeah, yeah, or foam or like Tita Lors: Yeah. Like FOMO. Yeah. Robin Axline: just kinda like, but I still don't want to do the homework. So then you start doing weird things like cooking a some chocolate chip cookies or playing the guitar or something. Tita Lors: Productive nation. Yay! Did we talk about that last week? That's what I was doing. I was like Robin Axline: Exactly. Woohoo. Probably it's I mean somebody. Tita Lors: hyper focused on the like getting on track with the podcast and then just not focusing on whatever it is that I'm supposed to be focusing on. I still don't know what that is. Probably something more related to the therapy business, trying to get clients, all that stuff. Robin Axline: yeah, those things. Tita Lors: Somewhat slightly important things. Robin Axline: man. But yeah, and the answer that we had come to towards the end of the conversation was just like through it all you have to know that you can have compassion for yourself in those moments and not feel like, I'm so dumb I didn't do anything. and like you have another chance to do that. So Oof. Yeah. I was like, wow, this is real, real talk. Tita Lors: It is. Well also, like, to to that point when you have like two different things that you have to do, right? You can either go and enjoy the thing and then know that you're gonna have to like hustle through getting your homework done or just, you know, experience the consequences of not getting it done and Robin Axline: Mm-hmm. Tita Lors: hopefully it was worth it. Or you you do the homework And then hopefully you have enough time to go to the thing later, or you just, you know, hopefully again, it's worth it that you've got your work done and you feel that sense of accomplishment. And there will be other things for you to go to in the future. And like planning something, some other fun, eventful thing for you to do afterwards, perhaps with the same people or whatever. Right? It's just what's the priority for you in that moment. what do I want to prioritize in this moment? And maybe it's having fun and, you know, both of those things it's gonna have consequences. One is I didn't do my homework. Or I'm gonna end up having to stay up all night or wake up really early to do my homework, right? There's going to be consequences to that. Versus like, I didn't get to go out with my friends and they're gonna have really fun inside stories and whatever. So it's just which I guess consequence is easier to sit with or whatever, you know, like sometimes if you know you've got an A in the bag and whether you turn in this homework or not, it doesn't really matter. Go have fun with your friends. Whatever. What the hell? Robin Axline: taking a past fail class and it's not really that important. Tita Lors: Exactly, but like who cares if you turn it if it doesn't matter if you turn this in, go have fun. But if it matters, like if you don't do this, you're gonna fail and you're gonna have to retake the the the test or whatever or the class and there's like money on it, like let's say you're in college and you're gonna have to repay, like, maybe don't go to that party. Robin Axline: Yeah, yeah, pretty much. But then actually s when you're staying at home, do your homework. That's the trick. Tita Lors: Yes, exactly. Like definitely do your homework. But if you know, but but when you think about the reason why you're there and really being intentional about your choice, then there's it's more purposeful, right? You're not just it's not it's no longer a punishment to sit there and do your homework. You have made what a coach of mine used to say is you made a powerful decision to that thing. Right? Like either you make a powerful and intentional choice to do your homework because you don't wanna fail and you don't wanna take the class again and you don't wanna pay over five hundred dollars to take this class, right? Or you make a powerful choice to have fun. Robin Axline: Yeah, that that was a good little nugget from the coach then. That's a really good one. Tita Lors: Yeah. Yeah. So that's been really helpful for me when I'm like I want bo Porquino Los Dos. Yeah. Robin Axline: Yeah. I say that quite often. Tita Lors: Right. If I can swing both, I'll try, but I have to prioritize somewhere along the way. So what's the more important thing in that moment? Sometimes it's doing the laundry because there's there's no underwear for the girls or whatever. Like and I've waited Robin Axline: Yeah. Tita Lors: several weeks Not several, several's like seven weeks, maybe like three weeks. Robin Axline: No, it's become a little more urgent, if you will. Tita Lors: Yeah, it's like it's kind of important that people have underwear, right? So there's that and so there's no fun fun, right? Or we just ha we had a little bit too much fun over the summer and now it's time for penny pinching. So do I get to have Chipotle every other week? No. Robin Axline: Darn. Tita Lors: I know Robin Axline: Hey, you gotta you gotta do what you gotta do. Tita Lors: Exactly. So whatever, fine. Robin Axline: I just wasn't expecting that to be the penny pinch thing. I'm like, hmm, okay. Nice. Yeah. No. Tita Lors: I don't always it's actually probably closer to like, am I allowed to get Taco Bell every other day because I'm too lazy to cook? Yeah. So there's that. But you have a story for me. Tell me the story. Robin Axline: Yes, so boy. so back to the story. I was looking up tickets and talking to Ryan about the WNBA and he was like, my god, that Caitlin Clark and I was like, my gosh, I know. Like there's just something about her all the time it feels like in the news. Like, even if you don't watch sports. Tita Lors: I have no idea who that is. Ha ha. He said their name earlier and I was like, I'm sure she's going to explain this to me. Robin Axline: My gosh. Tita Lors: Couldn't even tell you what she looked like. No, I'm gonna look her up. I feel so dumb. Robin Axline: This is amazing. No, this is so funny. I I'm like dying Tita Lors: Ha ha ha. Robin Axline: over here. And you Tita Lors: Images. Okay. Robin Axline: okay, now you recognize her? Tita Lors: Nope. Robin Axline: You're just like, okay. She got Tita Lors: But she makes a lot of really expressive faces. Robin Axline: yeah, she got she's like a face face actor or whatever. Okay. but Tita Lors: Uh-huh. Okay. Robin Axline: Lord. Anyways, she was like h highly talked about even when she was in college. Like she was basically, I'd say in recent years, if not a like regarded like one of the best collegiate players. and she got like trying to remember s several awards and she played for Iowa and then she got drafted into the WNBA and people were just like shoot, watch out. Like she's crazy, crazy good and so there's No, yeah. but there's been often on drama that I'm not gonna get into on this episode. It's more recent things. But there's like one where ch there was like a finger pointing thing, there was like a hand in the face like mm mm kind of thing with another player. Understand? Yeah. Something like that, something to that effect. Tita Lors: Mm. Talk to the hand, 'cause your face don't understand. Uh-huh. Robin Axline: But she's she's really good. She's originally from Iowa, she's let's see, six foot tall and like ever since she's been on the Indiana team, everybody just is way into that team, I feel like. So, Randon and I were like, Yeah, that Caitlin Clark and then he's like, Why haven't you done an episode about her? And I was like, yeah, I was like that would be perfect, actually. Yeah. So thank you to Ryan. Tita Lors: Wow, husband recommendations. Ian's gotta step it up. Robin Axline: I was like, yeah, that would be a good idea. So I kinda put it in my back pocket. But yeah, and he was like, What have you done and she then episode I like, yeah. And so basically she is her position on the team is guard slash point guard and basically a guard is to play further away from the basket than the tall players 'cause they handle like a lot of the perimeter shots. But then also she's the like the point guard. So she's like the primary person on the court that calls plays and kind of I guess you could say like she makes a lot of the plays by passing the ball to create easy baskets for other players. So she's almost like a kind of a captain type role where she controls like the game tempo, kind of snap it up or and she they'll use her like as almost like a if they if they really need like a power player they'll put her in and then they'll like have her rest for a while and then she comes back and it's it's just crazy to watch her play. I don't watch a lot of those games, but yeah, it's pretty nuts. So recently this so this week also got me fired up, like I was saying, because Tuesday was a big game against Liberty. So it was here in New York at the Barclays Center in downtown Brooklyn. And I guess listeners, I wanna be clear this isn't gonna be a Caitlin Clark is good at basketball episode, even though it sounded like that. Tita Lors: Ha ha ha. Robin Axline: and I'm not gonna like like I said, I'm not gonna like rehash a bunch of her old stuff, but I'm talking about like what's happening right now and why everybody seems to have so many intense feelings about this woman. Tita Lors: Mm. Robin Axline: And like I said, I'm a Liberty fan and Tuesday was Tita Lors: Sorry, but every time you say liberty I wanna be like Liberty, Liberty, Liberty, Liberty Robin Axline: Liberty. Liberty Liberty. Do it. We can s we can sing that in between every time. Yeah. Liberty puberty. Tita Lors: Every single one. My kids do. Every time they hear Liberty, Liberty Bibberdy Biberty Robin Axline: Liberty, liberty. That one and then that Limu emu Tita Lors: Yeah. They do that one too. And Jeff. Robin Axline: Yeah. get out of this liberty ritual and yeah all these ones. Tita Lors: Sponsors. Robin Axline: We'll do the ad read for you. We'll sing it. Yeah. Yeah we will. Tita Lors: I think we do a a great job. Yep. Robin Axline: so okay back to Tuesday. Indiana beat Liberty 106 to 92 and Caitlin had twenty-two points 10 assists, which is called a double double. And I actually wanted to hold on. I so I can explain what a double double is to people. It's 10 plus in two statistical categories. So it could be like you make baskets or you do an assist and it counts towards the thing. So if you do more than 10 then it's considered a double double. So she did like twenty two things. Which is kinda crazy. Tita Lors: Wow. Mm-hmm. Is that like a hat trick in like hockey? Robin Axline: well there's a triple double which is like ten plus in threes. So I guess I guess that would be more more that. But I don't anywho. yeah. Tita Lors: Mm-hmm. Okay. Okay. I guess. okay, okay, yeah. All right. Anyways, I know sports. I'll stop talking now. Robin Axline: And believe you me, I'm not like some sports Tita Lors: Ha ha ha. Robin Axline: like know it all either, so it's just just fun for me to certain sports I get into, but this way being one one of them. But anywho I so af especially after the game is when I decided to do this. And the controversy right now is that she had a technical foul in a a previous game. It was her eighth It would have been her eighth technical foul this season, and eight technical fouls means a one game suspension. So she was suspended before this Liberty liberty game and Tita Lors: Ha ha Robin Axline: the WNBA reviewed it and they rescinded it. And so then she was allowed to play on Tuesday. And a lot of people are like, was that reasonable or Like what what made them change their minds? Or or actually a lot of people are saying, does it look like the league is treating Caitlin differently because of how much attention she brings to the game? And Tita Lors: I was gonna ask a different question. Is it because of her Robin Axline: Mm-hmm. Tita Lors: the way that she looks? Let's say that. Robin Axline: Yeah, I thought that too. I thought that too. I was like, hmm, Tita Lors: Uh-huh. Robin Axline: seems a little suspicious, a little sus. Tita Lors: Ha ha. Robin Axline: I thought the same thing. She looks different. Tita Lors: Yeah. Yeah, she she looks different than people. Or perhaps people are being racist. Robin Axline: Yeah, exactly. so So this is where I think it gets interesting just beyond Caitlin, 'cause it's like, again, with the looks different, is she actually the problem? Or is she just the person that everybody is projecting their feelings about the NBA onto because she's so famous? And then there's also people that think that the league hates her and then you ha have a lot of fans that like r really hate her and think she's overrated or It's like it's a lot. That's kind of why we're talking about her in the first place, because it's just like nonstop stuff. And an actually kind of a quirky thing I wanted to bring up is her shoes are coming out. Tita Lors: She's got a line, her own line of shoe wear, Robin Axline: Yeah, yeah. Tita Lors: athletic wear. Robin Axline: Yeah, a lot of a lot of do have like a pro model or whatever. Like for example, Sabrina Youngescu's shoes from Liberty Liberty are pretty thick actually. Tita Lors: to lung it up. Who is this Sabrina? Sabrina Robin Axline: Yeah. She's she's cool. Tita Lors: what's her name? I only know Sabrina Carpenter. Ioness Robin Axline: It's yeah. my god. Yeah, Sabrina Carpenter plays basketball. She's like five three or whatever she is. Yeah. Tita Lors: Is it the green ones? that's cool. It reminds me. I don't know what it reminds me of. But okay. Robin Axline: Anywho, so Caitlin Clark there was actually a WNBA All Star weekend that I watched with they just put like a lot of the top people on teams together and it was just really fun to watch and she apparently gave her shoes to two other players on different teams before they even dropped. They're called the Nike Caitlin Ones. And Yeah, now we're just talking Tita Lors: Okay, now I have to look those up. Robin Axline: about this is shoe talk. Tita Lors: Hmm, which one do I like more? Okay, I think I like Caitlyn somewhere. Uh-huh. Robin Axline: Anyways, so she one of the gals that she gave the shoes to, Nat Natasha Heidemann actually wore her shoes in a basketball game and like shouted out the shoes and like even even put on her like Insta and then Caitlin was like said something like Woohoo or something. Tita Lors: Yeah Robin Axline: Yeah, thanks. Tita Lors: Thanks for the support. Robin Axline: I know it sounds like a tiny detail, but I just think that kind of stuff is kind of interesting. Tita Lors: Mm-hmm. Robin Axline: It's like she's like kind of a shoe person, a celebrity, and all this. And then the conversation happening is like, is she Yeah, I guess like at what point is she gonna stop being a player and more like a cultural character, like somebody like Shaq or something? but I guess the other beef I wanted to bring up is I actually experienced a little bit of this because I the perfect day to go to a Liberty game happened to be the one that Indiana Fever was playing and the tickets were like ridiculously expensive. Like for that one game. And I was like, absolutely not. Tita Lors: Yeah. Robin Axline: So I was thinking like it's clearly because she got her foul taken away and everybody wants to see her play. And so then people are realizing that they can charge more. Like mm hmm. Yeah, speaking of somebody constantly in the media. no. Tita Lors: That's why they like to go to her stuff. It's just so Yes. And like and of course o now with like her new music that's come out which is actually pretty good. Yeah, Robin Axline: Yeah. A couple of bops on there, yeah. Tita Lors: so I I get the appeal I guess from that perspective of like clamoring to see somebody just for the not the clout but like the like you to know them to Robin Axline: Yeah, I know what you're circling around, but it's like Tita Lors: Ha ha. Robin Axline: well I saw her at the Madison Square Garden or whatever. Tita Lors: Yeah, like to Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Just to be able to say that you did it. Like just to be able to say that I saw the Lakers play. Robin Axline: Yeah, ex yeah bringing it back. yeah. Well I was talking about her yesterday to somebody because we were talking about how she said after this tour she's taking herself out of public life or something. Like she's had enough for a while. I'm like, yeah, I mean everybody talks about her all the time, so that's kind of maybe she needs a break. It's not. I'm not gonna talk about what mm-hmm. But yeah, Tita Lors: We're not gonna get in. That's not what we're talking about today. Robin Axline: but the homewrecker of it all is kind of s sort of funny. Not that that's funny, but yeah. Anyways, Tita Lors: Come on. Robin Axline: Enough, enough, enough. anyway, I wanted to play a couple clips. so I'm gonna share my screen. Let me do that. Here it is. Tita Lors: She's so mad. Robin Axline: So the whoa. That was insane. so the the Tita Lors: Ha ha. Robin Axline: audience was like booing. I don't know if you heard, but they were just like boom boo like 'cause she did. Tita Lors: 'Cause she didn't get the foul or because she did get it? Uh-huh. Robin Axline: But then also I guess at the Liberty game last night, people were boeing at her because of how she got out of it. And then I just can't win. And I feel like with now the This kind of thing happens more frequently in the NBA, but it just doesn't get talked about as much. And I it's kind of unfortunate that these types of things come up more in women's sports just because women Tita Lors: They're women. Yes. Talk about petty. Robin Axline: Right. And then I just wanted to give you a little sample of how fiery their coach is. This is a press conference. Tita Lors: Who's your ghostwriter? Robin Axline: I know. Tita Lors: She's like Robin Axline: I just love everybody has to go to hell and then she grabs the papers and gets up. Tita Lors: I like the whole I say a line, what was I supposed to say? I say another line I think I had another point. Michelle Obama said the sub More notes. Go to hell. Robin Axline: That was a perfect impression. my god. Tita Lors: The delivery would Robin Axline: Where Tita Lors: have been better if she memorized it. Robin Axline: Yeah, or just like had a little more like personalization to it. It was just like Yeah. Tita Lors: Yeah, or put it here instead of there. Robin Axline: Yeah, it's a little Tita Lors: I have points. Robin Axline: Yeah, points. so she's so fiery that she got a foul too. Tita Lors: coaches can get fouled? Robin Axline: Yeah. Tita Lors: What happens to them? Robin Axline: I don't know, like I excuse my ignorance, listeners, but I don't know if you get like you can't coach for a game or something or I don't know like what Yeah, what happens? What happens? Tita Lors: That worked, then what happens? We have like an interim coach? I didn't realize that they could get co that they could get coached, that they could get fouled, 'cause they have to pay. Robin Axline: you know? Tita Lors: Which honestly I think is another petty thing about sports. You get fouled but you can pay your way out of it. Depending on what it is. Or that you have to pay your a way out of it sometimes. Like the p how what does that have to do with the actual game? Robin Axline: Well, okay, let's see. Technical fouls and conduct. Unsports and like behavior. Coaches receive technical fouls for arguing calls. I think that's what she did. Leaving the coaching box or disrespecting referees. Free throws. Opposing teams are awarded free throw attempts for a coach's technical foul. Whoa. And this I've seen. Ejections. Accumulating two technical fouls in a single game results in an automatic ejection for the coach. Tita Lors: Then what happens? Your team just doesn't have a coach anymore? Who steps up? Like, how can you Robin Axline: Shoot. Tita Lors: who is directing the ship? Robin Axline: Yeah, who's directing the ship? Tita Lors: What happens? Does it all fall apart? Someone who knows sports, tell me. Robin Axline: my god. Sports call into the T line. We must know what happens. Sports! Tita Lors: Your sports, sports in general. As a collective. Tell us. Robin Axline: I can't wait. I hope some of you are just screaming at the top of your lungs right now. How do they not know what happens? Well, Tita Lors: gosh. Robin Axline: anyway, I think it's the same thing where if they get like eight things, then they have to miss a game too. So Tita Lors: Mm. There's gotta be some interim person, right? Who's who's who's underneath the coach? Or maybe the Robin Axline: Yeah. Assistant coach? Tita Lors: team yeah, there's an assisted coach. Yeah, this is true. A team captain then maybe has to step it up. Yeah. Okay. We're talking our way through this. We're making sense of it. Smart. Robin Axline: Ma I mean, I don't know if they have one, but a captain. Totally. Anyway, Yeah. Tita Lors: We are. Potentially. Robin Axline: Sometimes it's just fun to talk through things. but I did have like a few questions, Tita Lors: Mm. Robin Axline: if you don't mind. Tita Lors: Welcome to Hard Hitting Questions with Robin. Robin Axline: Boom. Drop it never. Tita Lors: gonna clip that. Give that to your brother for when he makes our new music for us. Robin Axline: yeah beautiful totally I can't wait it's gonna be rad Tita Lors: Yes. Robin Axline: so hard trading questions questions questions one Do we think that the NBA benefits from all this controversy? Tita Lors: I know nothing about sports, so I can't even answer this question. But as someone lots of people say, yeah, like all press is good press. Robin Axline: Yeah, yeah, that's true. Like even as much as they wanna be like, this is just terrible for the game, all this No, it just drove up ticket sales prices for one. Tita Lors: Exactly. Yeah. You're here. You're watching. You have my name in your mouth. So all press is good press. Robin Axline: And here I are re Yeah. So one. How many times do you think I said Caitlin in this episode? Tita Lors: my god! I wasn't counting! Robin Axline: I wasn't either. It was just kind of a trick question. But Tita Lors: I feel like he didn't even say it that many times. Did I remember when I t while editing, I was like, and how many times does Lora say or no, mm-hmm in this Robin Axline: yeah. Tita Lors: like little clip of time so many times. I ha I now have to say mm-hmm in my head. Robin Axline: Awww, you can say allowed. Tita Lors: No, it's like every other thing you say, I say, mm-hmm. It's the therapist in me. The active listening skills. Mm-hmm. Okay, I'm I'm I'm gonna guess and then I'm gonna count whenever I edit this. I'm gonna think I'm gonna say that you said Caitlin More than fifteen but less than twenty times. Even that, even fifteen seems like a lot. Robin Axline: Hmm. Hmm, I'm gonna go twenty-one times. Tita Lors: Ha ha. All right, we'll see. We'll see. Robin Axline: You're probably right, it's probably not that much, but now I'm curious. Tita Lors: Yeah. Not that many times. I could be wrong. False memories. Robin Axline: besides that, I think I know what your answer is, but I was gonna say would you pay the Caitlin Clark ticket tax? Tita Lors: Probably not. Robin Axline: I I wouldn't 'cause I didn't, so Tita Lors: be more of the my god this is so cool I got these tickets for a really cheap price let's go kind of a person versus the I really want to go those are really expensive Robin Axline: Yeah, let's see if we can turn these around or something. Tita Lors: Yeah. Robin Axline: yeah, that's kinda like when I went to a a Nets game one time. I just found these incredibly cheap tickets. It was super fun also. Tita Lors: Don't remember. He let dee doo dee doo doo doo doo doo. I hear it in my head. No. Robin Axline: Perry Styles You wish. Tita Lors: my love is inhuman. No. No wait, stop. Hoser, there we go. Robin Axline: take me to church person. Yes. Tita Lors: Yes, take view church. There we go. So that was so difficult my brain. That was that was last year. So just rewind the tape all the Robin Axline: Yeah. Tita Lors: way to last year. Robin Axline: Be kind, please rewind. Tita Lors: So I bought tickets for that like ahead of time. I usually don't. I'll usually wait until the very, very last minute because the local amphitheater area near us, like if you wait till the last minute, you get tickets for pretty cheap. But I have been wanting to see Hoser for a really long time. So I bought the full price tickets and then there was like the additional fees. So it ended up being way more than I wanted to pay for the tickets. I honestly think it was worth it though. It was the like the area that we ended up sitting, there was like so much space in front of us. Our feet legs were not cramped. We had a really good view. Like he passed by us to go to this other section that was like right there. Yeah, you could like s it was such a good experience. I definitely enjoyed it so much. definitely overpaid, but I because I'd been watch wanting to see it, I don't mind it. It was my birthday present to myself. so I was like, yeah, we're doing it. Robin Axline: Yeah. Sometimes you just gotta do it, you know? Sometimes you just gotta do it. Tita Lors: Yeah. So I think it depends on the person. I don't know Caitlin, so I wouldn't pay a fee for her. Robin Axline: Yeah, I I think they do have a pretty good show. Like the lights and everything. My old hairstylist back in California is actually one that they bring on tour sometimes to do their hair. So yeah, she'll give a little haircut. Or they go on stage, snip snip. Tita Lors: Nice. Robin Axline: So there's that. but Tita Lors: Ha ha ha Robin Axline: I thought you were gonna say something crazy though with the hosier tickets of it all. I thought you were gonna say, man, I made a tidy profit off of those and then I bought the cheap seats or something. Tita Lors: I guess I could have done that, but no. I ended up enjoying the seats myself. Yeah, exactly. I I get too much anxiety about like reselling that I'll honestly just be like, whatever, pay what what you're gonna pay And I won't try to get like somebody to pay me the the bookuo bucks for it. I'll just be like, I'm just trying to get rid of them Robin Axline: Yeah. Yeah. For me it depends on what kind of a show it is too. If it's more like a small like punk or something, I won't I would never like jack up the prices. But, you know, if it's like some arena thing where it was already expensive, I'll kind of like sometimes see like what the going rate is or something, but I usually don't like try to do a profit. I just try to break even so Tita Lors: Yeah. And also selling the tickets at this place, it wouldn't people again, like if they they wait till the last minute because they know that the venue will sell tickets at a cheaper price the closer it gets to the the the actual date. So Robin Axline: Yeah, that that makes sense then. It's like a kind of a waste of mental space and time. So Tita Lors: Mm-hmm. Yeah. Robin Axline: but yeah, I I think that's where we're landing on the Caitlin of it all. but and I personally don't know if she's being treated differently or whether we're all just watching everything she does under a microscope because of i the news. But honestly I feel like there so from what I can tell there's no normal week in Caitlin Clarkland. And so I'm grateful to Ryan for bringing this to my attention that we haven't done an episode on her yet. 'Cause it I did wanted to do something kind of like that, but I I needed like the extra inspiration. Tita Lors: Mm-hmm. Push. Yeah. Robin Axline: Yeah, but yes, I think that's pretty much all for today. Tita Lors: Yeah. Well I will say like it's kind of the pettiness of I don't know if it's like the pettiness of it, but it's kind of the cost of celebrity, right? That every little thing, every minute petty detail of your life is going to be inspected and put out there and like you just kind of have to deal with it. It's very rare that there are celebrities who can keep their lives private. Robin Axline: Yeah. Exactly. Yeah. I mean that's that's fame for ya. I do want to do a shout out to this cool new sports bar in Williamsburg, Brooklyn that is called Blazers and it's woman owned and they pretty much only play women's sports all day long in unless it's like something big like the Knicks game that happened and some World Cup, but mostly it's all women's sports twenty four seven, which is so like awesome and cool. So yeah, if if y'all are in Williamsburg, the owners are super nice and it's just a good place to chill. So there's that. My little advert for that. And we maybe all tag in the show notes or something. Tita Lors: Yeah. Little unplayed or unplayed unpaid ads. Robin Axline: Yeah, yes. More yeah, we we've got apparently. Anyways, thanks for tuning in. Tita Lors: Yeah. Wait, wait. Robin Axline: yes. Tita Lors: Really fast because we're running out time. What's your glimmer? I'll go first because I have one. I, you know, because we're on a tight budget since we had such an eventful early summer, Ryan's been like, you can't no. But not like being mean about it, but I'll be like, I don't feel like cooking, I want this, and he'll be like, No, try again. fine. Robin Axline: It's all good fun, right? Tita Lors: Whatever, stupid responsibilities. so I've been cooking more this week, inspired by these more like content creators. So this other person is really cool. It's like he's an Indian content or food content creator person. Let me see if I can get the lance this was called okay, okay, okay. no, that's Tiffy Cooks. If you guys don't follow Tiffy Cooks, I love her. She's awesome. Yeah, Tiffy, T I F F Y, cooks. Such good content and easy Asian food to make. I'm like, I have that in my pantry. I can do that fast. Like 20, 30 minute meals. And like she does veggie vegan specific meals too that I think you would really like. and then so this other guy, it's amateur. Pro chef. they're it's like mostly Indian food and like protein, high protein type stuff 'cause they're trying to lose weight. And I've been getting ideas to make quick, easy meals there too, with stuff that we already have in our pantry again. So I'm like, Dope, fine. I guess I'll just keep eating out home. And the glimmer of it is that the girls are actually trying the the girls are actually trying the food, which I'm like, yes. Even if you just take one bite, I don't care. Just eat something. Robin Axline: Yeah, totally. Yeah, that sounds like a win, a glimmer, for sure. Yes, so as of Tuesday I graduated from a computer class I was taking through the New York City park system, the TechOps program, and the program I learned was Adobe Premiere Pro. Tita Lors: Ooh Yay You can do all the video editing now. Robin Axline: Yeah, I finished. I did it. I got through the class. no, why did I say that? but I just had a really good experience there and there was actually one class that I had to miss while I was in Chicago and the teacher was very kind and took extra time to catch me up on the class. So I had a really wonderful experience. So I highly recommend looking at local things in your area and seeing what like free things you can learn because you never know. You can always like find something to improve on or something that you never knew you would like to know. So that's my glimmer. Tita Lors: Mm-hmm. Yay. Also, can we just shout out Miss Robin because she is going to school to get her masters. She got in. She's doing it. Woo woo! Robin Axline: I did, it's true. I did it. A lot of hurdles, but it's happening, baby. Tita Lors: Mm-hmm. Yeah. Robin Axline: So yeah, thanks for the shout out. I'm sure y'all Tita Lors: Yeah. Robin Axline: he will hear a lot more once I get going. So it's starting soon. Tita Lors: Mm-hmm. Look it's a good thing that we have banked a whole bunch of episodes 'cause it's about to get crazy. Mm-hmm. Robin Axline: Be busy bee, yeah. Tita Lors: Yep. Okay, okay. Now we can close out. Now go ahead. Robin Axline: Now okay, all right, good call. Kind of share glimmers. So Thank you, thank you, thank you for tuning in. It's always wonderful to have you dear listeners and like, subscribe, tell your friends, five stars, please. you can listen to us on all the platforms where you can get your podcasts, also YouTube, so you can see me do crazy faces. Both of us. Tita Lors: both of us. The reason why there's a lot of dead like dead air is because we make faces Robin Axline: Yeah. Tita Lors: and we forget that our faces don't say things. Robin Axline: Yeah, that is too true. Tita Lors: So we have to then remind ourselves that this is also audio based and then actually say words. This is what happens sometimes. Cause we're like the f what? We're making these judge judge judgy ish like questioning faces, but then we forget to actually ask the question or say the thing. And then we just end up laughing at each other. That's what there's no words. Robin Axline: The words aren't coming out, but we know what we're saying. Yeah. Tita Lors: Ha ha. Robin Axline: So if you want to see more of that, join us on YouTube. yes, and Tita Lors: Yes, yes, yes. Robin Axline: we'll put links in the show notes and make sure you give us a ring on the T line. That would be really fun to hear your voices. Yes. And Tita Lors: Mhm. We propose to you. Mm hmm It's fine, we propose to you but we need you to ring us. Robin Axline: Proposal is out there. Now you just need to get the ring. Tita Lors: You know? Yeah, we wanna get engaged. We're just waiting for you. Robin Axline: Don't leave us win. Tita Lors: Ha ha ha. Robin Axline: boy. Alright. this has been fun. Thank you to my co-host, Lora, and thank you Tita Lors: Yeah. Robin Axline: all for listening. And if there's nothing left to say, but Tita Lors: Until next time everyone. Fuck it. Robin Axline: stay petty. Bye. Ciao. Tita Lors: Ciao Bella. Okay, done. Robin Axline: my goodness.
