A 39-year-old man, John Gaeta, received a three-year prison sentence for a deadly crash in September 2025 that killed 17-year-old Zachary Griffin and critically injured his 16-year-old passenger, Blake Elliott. Gaeta, who was driving, failed to brake or steer to avoid the collision, traveling over 300 feet while barely slowing down. His phone, unlocked and lit up during the crash, showed he was actively using multiple apps until the moment of impact.
