- 0:00Speaker 1: Is it, Yes, Hello, sailor boat.
- 0:05Speaker 2: I talked to my sailor's son, Fastus over the weekend.
- 0:09Speaker 2: I was just like to know what he's got coming
- 0:11Speaker 2: up in school.
- 0:12Speaker 3: He didn't have anything to do with that airplane falling
- 0:14Speaker 3: off the aircraft carrier, did he?
- 0:16Speaker 1: No?
- 0:17Speaker 4: Okay, he did not.
- 0:18Speaker 2: He's at independent duty corman training.
- 0:22Speaker 4: What's that?
- 0:23Speaker 1: Uh, it's it's kind of like it's kind of like
- 0:27Speaker 1: a PA's a physicians. Yeah, kind of like that, but
- 0:31Speaker 1: very specific to the Navy because you're going to be
- 0:34Speaker 1: doing things like patching up people in war torn places.
- 0:39Speaker 4: Talking to him how to prevent syphilis that too.
- 0:42Speaker 2: And I said, so what are you doing this week?
- 0:45Speaker 2: Last week he was learning how to put in a
- 0:46Speaker 2: chest tube. That was pretty exciting.
- 0:50Speaker 1: But this week he was really excited because he said
- 0:53Speaker 1: something that the military has not done for like.
- 0:56Speaker 2: Six or seven years. Is this special training.
- 1:00Speaker 1: There's this place in San Diego and it looks like
- 1:03Speaker 1: a movie set. It's like a a some Middle Eastern
- 1:09Speaker 1: bizarre neighborhood. Yeah, no, no, bizarre, like like a marketplace
- 1:19Speaker 1: and they hire actors and you they like and you're
- 1:23Speaker 1: in a war zone. Go and and I and I
- 1:28Speaker 1: was kind of confused. He's like, no, he said, it's
- 1:30Speaker 1: it's like you're there, And he sent me a video
- 1:32Speaker 1: that kind of shows it, and I posted it on
- 1:35Speaker 1: my on my twitter feed if you want to look
- 1:37Speaker 1: at it. But this looks like a video.
- 1:39Speaker 2: Game, and it sounds like a video game.
- 1:44Speaker 4: More sweat, less blood.
- 1:46Speaker 1: So they're saying more sweat less blood, meaning if you
- 1:48Speaker 1: do this work now, hopefully.
- 1:50Speaker 2: There's less blood when you're there working on Yeah. Question
- 1:55Speaker 2: asked a lot, and I would say, if I'm trying
- 1:57Speaker 2: to sum up what the job of an independent duty,
- 2:00Speaker 2: that is Nicole.
- 2:01Speaker 1: Moore, it's guns, it's smoke.
- 2:07Speaker 2: It's yeah.
- 2:09Speaker 1: Corman as being like the highest person in the rate.
- 2:12Speaker 5: It looks like with naval special warfare, with small boat teams,
- 2:16Speaker 5: with e O D, with the Marines.
- 2:19Speaker 2: They're really like a jack of all trades.
- 2:21Speaker 1: To be honest, what it means to be an independ
- 2:24Speaker 1: at Judy Corman is that at one point in your
- 2:27Speaker 1: career you will have someone's life in your hands.
- 2:30Speaker 2: See.
- 2:31Speaker 1: But the coolest part about this, so they've got a
- 2:34Speaker 1: bunch of actors and they'll have like vests on them
- 2:38Speaker 1: that have like blood packs in them that burst and
- 2:41Speaker 1: they will.
- 2:42Speaker 4: Have I have one of those on right now.
- 2:45Speaker 1: And they will have like a memorized list of you know, okay,
- 2:51Speaker 1: I'm feeling short of breath and I feel you're and
- 2:54Speaker 1: your here's your ailment. They'll have memorized their ailment and
- 2:57Speaker 1: they'll have to explain it to the But the coolest
- 3:00Speaker 1: is they have actual amputees.
- 3:05Speaker 4: Hey, let's get some actual amputee.
- 3:07Speaker 2: Yeah, and so they'll put like a fake leg.
- 3:09Speaker 4: Oh yeah, there's one right there, and then.
- 3:11Speaker 1: You'll have to like, oh, I guess we got to
- 3:14Speaker 1: cut the remove that leg to remove that, and then.
- 3:17Speaker 2: There's an actual under an actual life save. But I mean,
- 3:24Speaker 2: if you think about it, real.
- 3:25Speaker 5: Life experience is always a little bit different, and we
- 3:27Speaker 5: can't cover everything and we can't have everything perfect. But
- 3:30Speaker 5: what we're doing is we're getting them exposed to as
- 3:32Speaker 5: much as possible so when they are exposed to it
- 3:36Speaker 5: in the fleet in real life that it's not such
- 3:38Speaker 5: a shock and they can.
- 3:39Speaker 2: Do You know, that's something that your kid would definitely
- 3:42Speaker 2: stress would be.
- 3:43Speaker 4: We'd love to do it. I'd love to do it.
- 3:45Speaker 4: He'd love to organize it.
- 3:47Speaker 1: Yeah, Because it's a it's like a it's it's exactly
- 3:50Speaker 1: like a set like he does for his Haunted House stuff.
- 3:54Speaker 1: That's what it looks like, is there. But he's super
- 4:02Speaker 1: excited about because you know, usually he's just in a
- 4:05Speaker 1: classroom learning all this stuff.
- 4:07Speaker 3: So is he super excited about the fact that he
- 4:09Speaker 3: might have to go do it for real and have
- 4:11Speaker 3: people shooting at him.
- 4:12Speaker 2: No, I don't know that he's excited. I think this
- 4:15Speaker 2: is you know, it's it's getting out of the classroom.
- 4:18Speaker 3: It's all theoretical at this point. Yeah, when you're faced
- 4:21Speaker 3: with it for real, becomes less exciting.
- 4:24Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 4:25Speaker 4: Meanwhile, we're cutting meals on wheels.
- 4:27Speaker 3: Yeah, that's a lot of money we're spending on this.
- 4:31Speaker 1: Well, and that's why they haven't done and done it
- 4:34Speaker 1: for like six or seven years, I guess.
- 4:37Speaker 2: And it's not just the Navy that does it.
- 4:38Speaker 1: This is a like all branches of the military use
- 4:41Speaker 1: this area for training stuff.
- 4:46Speaker 4: That's wild.
- 4:47Speaker 2: Yeah, but he's getting close. He graduates in August.
- 4:52Speaker 1: He's almost done with all the classroom stuff and then
- 4:54Speaker 1: he'll be doing like.
- 4:56Speaker 4: Then then then will they ship him out?
- 4:58Speaker 1: Yeah, So so he's so he's a almost done with
- 5:00Speaker 1: the classroom stuff. I think this month and then he
- 5:03Speaker 1: starts doing rotations like he'll be in an actual er,
- 5:07Speaker 1: He'll be in an actual.
- 5:08Speaker 3: Let's let's check in with the Secretary hegg Seth and
- 5:11Speaker 3: see if he's out maybe going to send your son
- 5:13Speaker 3: to the fight the Hoothies.
- 5:15Speaker 2: I worry about that for reals. I don't. I don't
- 5:20Speaker 2: trust him to.
- 5:21Speaker 1: I don't trust mister hag Seth to make good decisions
- 5:24Speaker 1: when it comes to where my son will be exactly. Yeah,
- 5:31Speaker 1: all right, well yeah, I just if you want to
- 5:34Speaker 1: watch that, go to my twitter feed.
- 5:36Speaker 2: I posted it.
- 5:37Speaker 1: It looks like it's yeah, it looks like call of
- 5:39Speaker 1: duty and one
- 5:44Speaker 4: There you go.
