- 0:002024 could be a horrible year for the silver price and gold
- 0:05price. If the Fed continues with their
- 0:07hawkish, aggressive monetary policy.
- 0:10Who knows how low the prices could go?
- 0:16The silver price and gold price have been getting absolutely
- 0:20clobbered. You may be wondering what the
- 0:23heck is going on. What are the reasons behind this
- 0:28occurrence? And will 2024 wind up being in a
- 0:32year where we do see major declines in the price of silver,
- 0:37gold and the precious metals mining stocks?
- 0:39We're going to talk about what's going on and what the outlook
- 0:43remains for the rest of 2024. Thank you for joining me here in
- 0:47the basement basement dwellers you've been put through the mill
- 0:51to start out 2024. I know it's difficult.
- 0:56I feel it. I understand whether you're
- 0:59invested in physical silver, gold or the precious metal
- 1:03mining stocks, this has been a start to the year that none of
- 1:07us really expected to be this severe.
- 1:10We had talked about the possibility of a slight drawdown
- 1:14in the silver price and gold price, but this recent activity
- 1:18has exceeded all of our expectations.
- 1:22And what's the excuse that they're giving us?
- 1:25What's the reason the big overwhelming power that's
- 1:29pushing down the silver pricing gold price?
- 1:32Well, it's this sudden re pivot back to more hawkish tone from
- 1:37the world central banks. It's not just the United States.
- 1:40It's all over the world, the United Kingdom, the EU and even
- 1:45here in the United States where in mid-december we had a very
- 1:48dovish message from Jerome Powell that helps support the
- 1:53precious metals prices. But recently we're hearing from
- 1:57all the Fed governors and it's a bunch of hawkish squawk.
- 2:01Now, can this hold up throughout the year?
- 2:05Can the world central banks actually raise rates?
- 2:08That brings up a very interesting question.
- 2:11Do you ever get the feeling that we're living in a magic make
- 2:15believe, funny money world? Well, if you still believe in

- 2:46I think you'll find what I found.
- 2:48They checked all the boxes. 2024 could be a horrible year for the
- 2:54silver price and gold price. If the Fed continues with their
- 2:58hawkish, aggressive monetary policy, who knows how low the
- 3:02prices could go? But I have a question for you.
- 3:05Do you think the Fed can really continue with this higher for
- 3:10longer rhetoric? I'll ask you a question.
- 3:13Do you think the banks can sustain higher rates for much
- 3:17longer? Do you think businesses,
- 3:19corporations, many of which are considered zombies, right, they
- 3:24can't even survive in a higher interest rate environment?
- 3:28Do you think the corporate world can survive paying much higher
- 3:32interest expenses? And what about us?
- 3:35What about the consumer? We know there's a record level
- 3:39of credit card debt. We know people have no savings.
- 3:43Can the consumer survive much longer in a higher interest rate
- 3:48environment? And remember, that's the
- 3:51environment that's needed to keep this downward pressure on
- 3:55the price of the metals. I would go as far as to say it's
- 3:58all a bunch of funny money, it's all a bunch of make believe.
- 4:03And at the end of the day, no, the banks, the consumers, what
- 4:08about our government with their $34 trillion debt?
- 4:12None of them can be sustained in this higher interest rate
- 4:17environments. Now they're going to throw up
- 4:19all kinds of new programs, new ways to describe what they're
- 4:23doing. But at the end of the day, no
- 4:26matter what moves, the Fed has to make from a monetary
- 4:29perspective, environment with interest rates, with monetary
- 4:34policy, with M2, money supply with any of it, no matter how
- 4:38you slice it or dice it, the rust always eats through
- 4:43whatever spray paint they spray on things temporarily to make it
- 4:47look good. The silver price and gold price
- 4:50will go much higher in real terms.
- 4:53Real value. The value of an ounce of silver.
- 4:56The value of an ounce of gold will go up.
- 5:01Does thinking about this make you feel a little crazy and
- 5:04confused? That's because it is crazy and
- 5:08confusing. And if we broaden our scope just
- 5:11a little bit outside of the craziness in the United States
- 5:16and look at things on a worldwide basis, it gets even
- 5:21more concerning. We'll look at just one component
- 5:24of what's going on the world at war and the implications that
- 5:30that has on the world economy. Do you know that Germany, the
- 5:344th largest economy in the world, is now officially in a
- 5:40recession? Their economy is contracting.
- 5:43A big reason why is because of energy cost.
- 5:47They had relied on cheap Russian gas and now that we have war in
- 5:51Europe, just that one example can show you how the world not
- 5:57getting along can have major economic implications.
- 6:00Do you think the Germans are going to want higher interest
- 6:04rates when their economy is in recession?
- 6:07And that's something that's going to be faced by the whole
- 6:10world once the real impact of what's going on right now on our
- 6:16planet is felt, right? All this conflict, all this debt
- 6:21that's piled up, once it all feeds through the system, we're
- 6:26going to be in a situation where vast amounts of liquidity, lower
- 6:31interest rates, are necessary just to keep the system alive.
- 6:36And at the end of the day, all right, when everything rises to
- 6:40the top, what you're going to find are your silver and gold.
- 6:43Fortuna Silver Mines is a global intermediate gold and silver
- 6:48producer. Since 2005, Fortuna's best in
- 6:51class management has delivered impressive growth and profits.
- 6:56Fortuna's solid financial position and operational
- 6:59expertise allows for performance in any precious metals price
- 7:04cycle and provides a foundation from which to harvest great
- 7:08profits in more favorable metals markets.
- 7:11Investing in Fortuna is an investment in quality, long
- 7:15term, sustainable production of in demand precious and base
- 7:20metals. And while the recent price
- 7:23action in silver and gold have been extremely frustrating, if
- 7:28we come back to the United States we see a balance sheet
- 7:31that shows $34 trillion in debt that mathematically can never be
- 7:39paid off. We're facing an environment
- 7:42socially, politically, in this country as we move through 2024
- 7:48that could prove to be a powder keg.
- 7:51None of us want anything bad to happen, but it doesn't take much
- 7:55to read what's going on politically, socially in this
- 7:59country to see that we are headed for some challenging
- 8:03times. What do you think when you look
- 8:06right now at the world, when you look domestically at the United
- 8:11States? Do you think 2024 will prove to
- 8:14be a year where we see major change or will it turn out to be
- 8:19just a nothing burger? Somehow the powers that be are
- 8:24able to perpetuate the system, the funny money environment that
- 8:28we live in right now. Or will it be a year where we
- 8:32face some major challenges, where people like you like me,
- 8:36that have invested in precious metals are proven to be correct
- 8:40in our thesis in that precious metals will protect us under any
- 8:45environment no matter how things pan out?
- 8:49We do know one thing for sure, it's done that for thousands and
- 8:53thousands of years. And when I look at the current
- 8:56environment, the ability of precious metals to protect and
- 9:00maybe even increase wealth while the downside is minimal, Well,
- 9:05to me that's a bet I'll take. Look, you need to make U your
- 9:09mind for yourself. Listen to me.
- 9:12Listen to others. Do what you believe.
- 9:15But know one thing for sure. I'll be here for you through it
- 9:19all. That's a real honor that you've
- 9:20joined me today here in the basement.
