- 0:00Speaker 1: Hello, and welcome to the Overland Journal podcast. This is
- 0:03Speaker 1: Ashley Jordano, senior editor at Overland Journal and Expedition Portal,
- 0:07Speaker 1: and today I am hanging out at Overland Expo West
- 0:12Speaker 1: in beautiful Flagstaff, Arizona. I've escaped the wind and the dust,
- 0:16Speaker 1: and I'm sitting in this black Series trailer podcast studio
- 0:19Speaker 1: with some very special guests, Jordan and Candace from be
- 0:23Speaker 1: Old Later. Hi, Welcome, So nice to have you guys here.
- 0:27Speaker 2: So happy to see you yy and a special thanks
- 0:30Speaker 2: to on x Maps for supporting this week's podcast. For me,
- 0:34Speaker 2: being prepared is all about having the right tools. One
- 0:37Speaker 2: tool I use is the on x off road map
- 0:39Speaker 2: and navigation app on my phone. I use it to
- 0:42Speaker 2: find trails and off grid camping, and I use the
- 0:44Speaker 2: fully functional GPS when I'm out of service. We all
- 0:47Speaker 2: know that's usually where the best parts start. It's intuitive
- 0:50Speaker 2: to use and lets me find open trails anywhere you
- 0:53Speaker 2: want to explore with just the tap on the map.
- 0:55Speaker 2: Access detailed trail information like difficulty ratings, duration, clearance, level, opening,
- 1:01Speaker 2: closed dates, trail photos and more. Plus there's color coded
- 1:05Speaker 2: public and private land boundaries which are very helpful for
- 1:08Speaker 2: when I want to try to find off grade camping
- 1:10Speaker 2: and like I said before, I want to make sure
- 1:12Speaker 2: that this sticks.
- 1:13Speaker 3: It has offline maps.
- 1:15Speaker 2: This feature allows me to access all interactive land and
- 1:18Speaker 2: trail data and custom map markups.
- 1:21Speaker 3: When I'm out of cell service.
- 1:22Speaker 2: Your phone's internal GPS will give you full navigation capabilities offline,
- 1:27Speaker 2: so you always know where you are and how to
- 1:29Speaker 2: get home safely. Use code Overland Journal today to save
- 1:32Speaker 2: twenty percent off.
- 1:33Speaker 1: Guys drove down from Squamish Swamish PC Menior in our
- 1:38Speaker 1: ninety seven Misubishi Delica, and you also took that vehicle
- 1:43Speaker 1: from is It Squamish to Shwaya.
- 1:45Speaker 3: Vancouver to tuk Tikta down to actually.
- 1:48Speaker 4: Starting in Overland expos in twenty eighteen is where we
- 1:52Speaker 4: initially started our journey.
- 1:54Speaker 5: Amazingack went all.
- 1:55Speaker 4: The way to the top, yup, all the way the
- 1:57Speaker 4: top through the Canadian Way, and then all the way
- 2:00Speaker 4: to the bottom. Skipped a couple parts because we have
- 2:02Speaker 4: a right hand drive, but otherwise and there's restrictions in
- 2:05Speaker 4: some countries, but otherwise, yeah, then all the way to
- 2:07Speaker 4: the bottom of South America.
- 2:08Speaker 1: So how did you deal with the steering wheel restrictions
- 2:10Speaker 1: right hand drive.
- 2:11Speaker 6: We basically just shipped around Costa Rica. Okay, I had
- 2:15Speaker 6: to ship it out of Guatemala, Like our time schedule
- 2:17Speaker 6: was like a little short in the middle. So we
- 2:19Speaker 6: were like we had been to Costa Rica before and
- 2:21Speaker 6: was like, yeah, we'll ship out of there. We had
- 2:23Speaker 6: heard that El Salvador was sketchy for right hand drive.
- 2:25Speaker 6: We had heard that Nicaragua could be like on the
- 2:28Speaker 6: southern border but re entering. Yeah, so like if you
- 2:30Speaker 6: got turned back from Costa Rica, maybe you would have
- 2:33Speaker 6: to like get stuck between borders.
- 2:34Speaker 5: Happened to a guy.
- 2:35Speaker 4: He had to put his truck on like a flatbed
- 2:37Speaker 4: and then pay for that and then paid a ship
- 2:39Speaker 4: to Columbia.
- 2:40Speaker 5: Oh wow, so like triple threat right there.
- 2:43Speaker 4: So we there was a chance like we could have
- 2:45Speaker 4: maybe maneuvered something where it looked like our steering wheel
- 2:49Speaker 4: was on the other side or distracted, like the border
- 2:51Speaker 4: with a big bowl of fruit, and like just tried
- 2:53Speaker 4: to talk to them.
- 2:53Speaker 5: Like don't look in the front, but it was too.
- 2:56Speaker 4: Risky, too sketchy, and if people did pull you over
- 2:59Speaker 4: in certain place places where that wasn't allowed, you just
- 3:01Speaker 4: have to keep like you know, bribing or keep talking
- 3:04Speaker 4: or get impounded or get like yeah, good to avoid.
- 3:09Speaker 4: We actually found out about that rule at a Tahoe event.
- 3:14Speaker 6: There was like a Tahoe van event or some bob
- 3:16Speaker 6: who does all the recovery stuff. He was like, oh,
- 3:18Speaker 6: you guys are not going to be able to drive through.
- 3:20Speaker 6: I think he told us maybe Nicaragua, and we were like,
- 3:22Speaker 6: oh man, we should look that up. And then yeah,
- 3:24Speaker 6: it turned out to be coastreet.
- 3:26Speaker 4: It's a fun fact and we're like, okay. We initially
- 3:28Speaker 4: didn't buy the Delica for this trip. We bought the
- 3:30Speaker 4: Delica for just like let's camp riise this, take this on,
- 3:33Speaker 4: like go for reel driving on the weekends, like just
- 3:36Speaker 4: do like weekend stuff because we were working full time.
- 3:38Speaker 5: But then it turned into the trip. Like oh and
- 3:40Speaker 5: we when we.
- 3:41Speaker 4: Were like hiking up to get married on the summit
- 3:43Speaker 4: of the Grand Titans, we were just kind of like
- 3:45Speaker 4: we just had this like aha moment, like we.
- 3:47Speaker 5: Should just do like a really big trip.
- 3:49Speaker 4: So when we got the Deli, it wasn't initially for
- 3:52Speaker 4: Pan American Highway. I feel like if we had that
- 3:55Speaker 4: initial idea before buying a car, we would have been interesting. Yeah,
- 3:59Speaker 4: so it just kind of into that, and a lot
- 4:01Speaker 4: of people with right hand and drives, like Costa Rica's
- 4:03Speaker 4: outlawed that stuff since twenty thirteen.
- 4:05Speaker 5: It's just been kind of you either get lucky or
- 4:07Speaker 5: you take a risk, or you don't. So gotcha.
- 4:10Speaker 1: So you used what you had to do the trip
- 4:12Speaker 1: exactly awesome.
- 4:13Speaker 4: And then the logistics unraveled themselves, like okay, well now
- 4:16Speaker 4: you got a ship from Guatemala or somewhere that's possible.
- 4:19Speaker 4: And I think we were like maybe the first handful of.
- 4:22Speaker 3: People, maybe third group. Well, I mean, I'm sure people
- 4:25Speaker 3: have done it.
- 4:25Speaker 6: Alan Jomena were a little ahead of us, and they
- 4:28Speaker 6: had done it in Adelica, shipped it over and gave
- 4:30Speaker 6: us all their information and then like we did a
- 4:32Speaker 6: giant type up of it, asked that to people after us.
- 4:35Speaker 6: So like now there's like becoming like Guatemala to Columbia route,
- 4:38Speaker 6: so that shipping.
- 4:39Speaker 5: Companies probably like, please don't tell any more people. You
- 4:41Speaker 5: can't do that. It's not organized. We literally got to
- 4:44Speaker 5: that shipping place and he's.
- 4:45Speaker 4: Like, you have fifteen minutes to get your stuff together
- 4:48Speaker 4: and then you have to go to the port.
- 4:49Speaker 5: You did not say that on the phone.
- 4:51Speaker 1: So you guys are originally from the US, is that right?
- 4:54Speaker 1: But you've spent a lot of time living in Canada.
- 4:57Speaker 1: Where did you get the vehicle from? Did you buy
- 4:59Speaker 1: it an States? Do you buy in Canada?
- 5:01Speaker 3: And that way Canada?
- 5:03Speaker 6: In Vancouver there's the Delicas there a dime a dozen
- 5:05Speaker 6: and the fifteen year import is the L four hundred
- 5:08Speaker 6: like the newer models of course, so in Vancouver proper,
- 5:11Speaker 6: even in Squamish, it's just like, oh, Delica, Delica, Delica.
- 5:14Speaker 6: It's not like interesting anymore, like punch.
- 5:16Speaker 5: Buggy, but punch Delica. Right, it was like punch dozen
- 5:19Speaker 5: and no punchback.
- 5:19Speaker 6: But then as soon as you go over the border
- 5:21Speaker 6: into the state, the first gas station you're at like
- 5:23Speaker 6: somebody's walking.
- 5:24Speaker 4: Up and like that's right there, and then like twenty
- 5:28Speaker 4: minute conversations with random people who don't know what the
- 5:30Speaker 4: car is but yeah, no it's interesting or really comment
- 5:33Speaker 4: up and you've probably seen them a lot.
- 5:34Speaker 1: Yes, yeah, West Coast on Vancouver Island. Oh yeah, tons
- 5:38Speaker 1: of them as well.
- 5:39Speaker 5: Yes, nice.
- 5:40Speaker 1: And then so you guys decided to do this trip,
- 5:43Speaker 1: did you? Were you like, we're gonna do the Pan
- 5:44Speaker 1: American Highway or did you have other ideas about the
- 5:47Speaker 1: big trip when you started talking about it.
- 5:49Speaker 5: We had a couple other ideas.
- 5:51Speaker 4: I've wanted to do, like a hike through the Great
- 5:53Speaker 4: Divide Continental Divide, doing all of the US with the
- 5:56Speaker 4: Continental Divide, and then going up into Canada doing the
- 5:58Speaker 4: Great Divide. Like I would love to just be in
- 6:01Speaker 4: the woods hiking for months at a time, just going
- 6:04Speaker 4: from point A to point B.
- 6:06Speaker 5: And that was that was my idea. And then like.
- 6:11Speaker 6: Niking and stuff, like she was like, let's do a
- 6:13Speaker 6: six month trail, and I was like, maybe we could
- 6:16Speaker 6: do like a really long drive and do a lot
- 6:18Speaker 6: of hiking on the drive. And I pitched it like, oh,
- 6:20Speaker 6: we'll be like way more places. We'll get to do
- 6:22Speaker 6: way more cool hikes instead of like boring sections of
- 6:24Speaker 6: trails or whatever.
- 6:25Speaker 3: I said. That was kind of like a good compromise.
- 6:27Speaker 5: I think it was a good idea.
- 6:29Speaker 4: I mean, just to see all those countries and just
- 6:30Speaker 4: to be able to it was a great decision to
- 6:33Speaker 4: go with that. And plus we're going to do some
- 6:34Speaker 4: of the GDT this summer anyways, so I get what
- 6:36Speaker 4: I want now. But yeah, so like we were literally climbing,
- 6:39Speaker 4: hiking up to the ground like some of the Grand Teton.
- 6:42Speaker 4: We just kept having these conversations because of course, like
- 6:44Speaker 4: when you hike, you know, like conversations flowing. And we
- 6:46Speaker 4: were just about to get married, so just like a
- 6:48Speaker 4: lot of things were just coming up, and it was like,
- 6:51Speaker 4: let's do something big, like this is the time to
- 6:53Speaker 4: do it. Don't wait, set our goals, let's figure out
- 6:56Speaker 4: how we can get to this point at like this
- 6:58Speaker 4: point of our lives, like how much money needs of
- 7:00Speaker 4: just all that stuff in the beginning, and that was
- 7:02Speaker 4: like the big conversation of the hyke.
- 7:03Speaker 5: Then we literally tied the knot.
- 7:05Speaker 4: Of our harnesses figuratively and like what we actually did
- 7:08Speaker 4: at the top of the Grantee Dome. We got married
- 7:10Speaker 4: by who is now our friend, but he was a
- 7:12Speaker 4: climbing guide who was also ordained by the Church of Dude,
- 7:16Speaker 4: which is the big Lebowski church.
- 7:17Speaker 5: And he's like, I'm pretty sure this is official, Like
- 7:20Speaker 5: this is fine.
- 7:21Speaker 3: Pretty legit, and we're like, oh yeah, it looks super legit.
- 7:23Speaker 5: We literally got to the top. I had a good
- 7:25Speaker 5: weather window.
- 7:26Speaker 4: He think he had like a little he had a
- 7:27Speaker 4: cap gun for us to shoot Jordan didn't have a
- 7:29Speaker 4: real mullet at that time. He had a mullet wig
- 7:31Speaker 4: and then I had like a little like weird like
- 7:34Speaker 4: makeshift veil and we got married on top of there,
- 7:36Speaker 4: and yeah, conversations just about the trip rolled out of that.
- 7:39Speaker 4: After we were done getting married, we kind of just
- 7:41Speaker 4: like focused on how we're going to make that trip happen.
- 7:44Speaker 1: Did you see other people online doing the trip?
- 7:46Speaker 5: Is that what sparked?
- 7:47Speaker 1: Did you?
- 7:47Speaker 5: Were you just aware of it?
- 7:48Speaker 6: I mean we'd seen you guys's trip. Probably when we
- 7:50Speaker 6: started researching the Pan American we lived in New Zealand
- 7:53Speaker 6: for a while and saw like all kinds of crazy
- 7:55Speaker 6: vans over there, and we're like, oh, these are also
- 7:56Speaker 6: when you saw people like Chilean plates and like places
- 7:59Speaker 6: we had traveled, and like in Patagonia we had been before,
- 8:01Speaker 6: and we're like, oh, what are these like crazy vehicles?
- 8:03Speaker 6: You know, And like I was probably in like the
- 8:05Speaker 6: twenty twelve time, first time we saw people like really
- 8:08Speaker 6: going for it in vehicles. And we had traveled into
- 8:10Speaker 6: like a super U with like a platform in the
- 8:12Speaker 6: back of it for a while, nothing that we would
- 8:14Speaker 6: consider like overlanding. We're just like Oh, we're just traveling
- 8:17Speaker 6: for months, you know, in the Super.
- 8:18Speaker 4: Three months in the States, living on a like sleeping
- 8:20Speaker 4: in a platform that was like two inches from the ceiling.
- 8:22Speaker 4: So if you got up suddenly, just you learned real
- 8:25Speaker 4: quick that you don't have a lot of space, Like
- 8:27Speaker 4: good night, Mary, be like oh God in my face.
- 8:30Speaker 6: Well yeah, Like as soon as you start researching like
- 8:32Speaker 6: long vehicle travel, you're like, oh, Pan Americans, like the
- 8:34Speaker 6: longest route. You see all the other people doing it, Like, yeah,
- 8:36Speaker 6: we saw you guys. There's land Delicas overland in the
- 8:40Speaker 6: Americas of mountains and beaches. A dude from you know
- 8:43Speaker 6: those guys, Yeah, they had a Delica And I was like, whoa,
- 8:45Speaker 6: this is crazy. Like we actually met that at MEC
- 8:48Speaker 6: like right after we're driving by, and I was like,
- 8:50Speaker 6: oh wow, I know that Delica and we like stocked
- 8:52Speaker 6: them down in history.
- 8:54Speaker 3: Love where you've done.
- 8:55Speaker 5: I love when that happened. I know I too.
- 8:58Speaker 4: And then when it happens to you, like you just
- 8:59Speaker 4: like you just want to pay it forward. But yeah,
- 9:02Speaker 4: but it's one of those things like if people have questions,
- 9:04Speaker 4: you just want to just like any advice you can
- 9:06Speaker 4: give anything, just like motivate them, inspire them.
- 9:09Speaker 5: So yeah, you guys.
- 9:10Speaker 4: Did it for us, and like over then the Americas
- 9:12Speaker 4: and a couple others and then we just kind of, yeah.
- 9:14Speaker 5: Formed our goals, figured out a bit of a plan.
- 9:17Speaker 1: What did you learn from the platform and the Subaru
- 9:21Speaker 1: that you like applied to your next build?
- 9:25Speaker 5: That was very small? Yeah, I just wanted to be
- 9:27Speaker 5: bigger than that. And it was very hot.
- 9:30Speaker 6: It's super capable, and like it had ac in it,
- 9:32Speaker 6: which was nice, but like oh nice, yeah, like it
- 9:34Speaker 6: was what it was definitely small and how we had
- 9:38Speaker 6: it loaded. We were just like we moved out of
- 9:40Speaker 6: a place and we were just kind of like no
- 9:42Speaker 6: end to point, just like traveling across the states with
- 9:44Speaker 6: like kind of too much stuff in it too, you know.
- 9:46Speaker 6: So like if occasionally we camp in like you know,
- 9:48Speaker 6: a neighborhood and you have like the Subaru with like
- 9:51Speaker 6: all this trash on top of it, that like we
- 9:53Speaker 6: pull out so we could sleep and like on the
- 9:55Speaker 6: roof rack and like tucked under the car.
- 9:57Speaker 5: Just like not stealthy, no, super obvious.
- 10:00Speaker 3: And we thought we were you know, we thought we
- 10:01Speaker 3: were like a window covers.
- 10:02Speaker 4: No, it was like reflected so obvious, like Okay, someone's
- 10:06Speaker 4: clearly sleeping in there and just like fogged up windows. Yeah,
- 10:09Speaker 4: we learned like we want more space. We slept in
- 10:11Speaker 4: the tent a lot too, because it was way too hot.
- 10:14Speaker 4: We want minimalist stuff with us. We want to be organized.
- 10:17Speaker 4: Organization is like not very good on that trip we did.
- 10:20Speaker 5: And we also.
- 10:21Speaker 4: Wanted like four by four capability because there was some
- 10:23Speaker 4: instances when we're trying to go to like I think
- 10:25Speaker 4: it was like the south rim of the Grand Canyon. Yeah,
- 10:27Speaker 4: we almost got stuck in the middle of nowhere with
- 10:29Speaker 4: no one else around. We want something that's a bit
- 10:31Speaker 4: higher clearance. That's when we realized like we definitely want
- 10:33Speaker 4: to do more four by four off roading. It taught
- 10:35Speaker 4: us a lot, but it was like our first i'd say,
- 10:38Speaker 4: like three months just like going around it was really fun.
- 10:40Speaker 5: It's hard to have the dog in there.
- 10:41Speaker 4: Too, there's not a lot of space, right at least
- 10:43Speaker 4: we had ac though in the van. He was just like,
- 10:45Speaker 4: I'm so hot, guys, I can't handle Mexico.
- 10:48Speaker 5: We need to swim every ten minute.
- 10:50Speaker 1: What was your dog's name and what kind of dog
- 10:52Speaker 1: were you traveling with?
- 10:53Speaker 5: Nugget he's a border CALLIMX. He's the best. He's a sweetheart.
- 10:56Speaker 1: How was it traveling with a dog along the Pan
- 10:58Speaker 1: American Highway.
- 10:59Speaker 4: In the Big I would say the north was pretty great.
- 11:03Speaker 4: It was nice and cool. He didn't get super hot
- 11:05Speaker 4: all the time. Like we have a fan and stuff
- 11:07Speaker 4: in the Delica, so like that helps, but in more
- 11:09Speaker 4: space for him. But we were just concentrating on like trails,
- 11:12Speaker 4: we're concentrating on just being outside ninety nine percent of
- 11:15Speaker 4: the time unless it was like super rainy or whatever,
- 11:17Speaker 4: so we'd always be outside. So just to have him there.
- 11:20Speaker 4: He's just been so many places, like our parents are
- 11:22Speaker 4: like that dog's been more places than we've been and
- 11:25Speaker 4: he has. It's like it was great to have him
- 11:28Speaker 4: and he's but he's not a guard dog or anything.
- 11:29Speaker 4: He's a guard dog to like people we like and
- 11:31Speaker 4: our friends. But if like crazy people want to come
- 11:34Speaker 4: and break into the van, he's like, oh, they're probably fine,
- 11:36Speaker 4: and he like wouldn't bark.
- 11:37Speaker 5: Then the worst judgment, terrible judgment.
- 11:39Speaker 1: On a dog, Like I love everybody.
- 11:41Speaker 3: Except your friends.
- 11:43Speaker 6: All your friends know someone he'd be like, oh, I'm
- 11:45Speaker 6: gonna market them for sure, but like just some random
- 11:47Speaker 6: person like scouting around your vehicle or something.
- 11:50Speaker 3: He's like, oh, I seemed legit.
- 11:51Speaker 4: But then when he just wants to say hi really loud,
- 11:52Speaker 4: that's all we would say. He's like, oh, he's just
- 11:54Speaker 4: saying hi really loud to you. Just pat him, you'll
- 11:57Speaker 4: be fine.
- 11:57Speaker 5: He won't bite you. Yeah, it was great to have
- 11:59Speaker 5: him in the North and in the States.
- 12:01Speaker 4: When we got through into Mexico, it was very hot, right,
- 12:04Speaker 4: So having a dog with no a c you're focusing
- 12:06Speaker 4: every day and where are we swimming?
- 12:08Speaker 5: Focusing on the dog basically like not dying in the car.
- 12:11Speaker 3: Just like, never leave him in the North.
- 12:13Speaker 6: If you had to leave him for you know, an
- 12:14Speaker 6: hour or something in the van, throw the fan on,
- 12:16Speaker 6: you could like go into a restaurant and stuff. He's
- 12:18Speaker 6: like super at home in the van and just chills
- 12:20Speaker 6: and he's like this smice safe spot.
- 12:22Speaker 3: You know.
- 12:22Speaker 6: It was like perfect temperature. Mexico is like you never
- 12:25Speaker 6: leave Wars with you anywhere.
- 12:26Speaker 4: He can't go to the ruins, he can go a
- 12:27Speaker 4: lot of stuff. So like there's a lot of restrictions
- 12:29Speaker 4: having a pet with you. So then in Mexico we
- 12:32Speaker 4: decided we were gonna beg our parents to see if
- 12:35Speaker 4: they would watch him for the rest of our trip,
- 12:37Speaker 4: and Jordan's parents were amazing enough to be.
- 12:39Speaker 1: Like, yeah, bring them up, let's figure this out.
- 12:42Speaker 5: So we actually left the van in Cancun and we
- 12:45Speaker 5: flew for Christmas.
- 12:47Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 12:47Speaker 5: Christmas. Yeah. We flew from Kancun to to Atlanta.
- 12:51Speaker 4: Yeah, and then we got like a rental car and
- 12:52Speaker 4: drove down to his family in Pensacol, Florida with Nugget.
- 12:55Speaker 5: Who we did give doggy drugs too to be on
- 12:57Speaker 5: a plane. He's not a good idea, babe works for
- 12:59Speaker 5: some dog. But we went to like some rendom that
- 13:01Speaker 5: it was like, yeah.
- 13:02Speaker 3: Just give him this, it'll be totally fine, and we're like, okay.
- 13:04Speaker 4: He like couldn't open up his eyes for like eight hours.
- 13:07Speaker 4: We had to like carry him down the stairs. Probably
- 13:10Speaker 4: didn't look very good at an airport. Fine, eventually it
- 13:13Speaker 4: just peed a couple of times uncontrollably, but it's all good.
- 13:16Speaker 4: So I don't recommend giving your dog doggy drugs for
- 13:18Speaker 4: an airplane, but at least we could bring him on
- 13:19Speaker 4: the plane with us at that point.
- 13:21Speaker 5: That was easy.
- 13:21Speaker 6: So yeah, I mean, at that point it was like
- 13:23Speaker 6: Mexico was kind of the point of no return because
- 13:25Speaker 6: like if we pushed further south that he was going
- 13:27Speaker 6: to be We thought we'd take like a sailboat across
- 13:29Speaker 6: the Darien Gap if we had him with us instead
- 13:30Speaker 6: of flying, so that would eliminate a plane flight. But
- 13:32Speaker 6: like on the way back, we were going to ship
- 13:34Speaker 6: the van back. How do you get him back from
- 13:35Speaker 6: you know, like South America or it's going to hopefully
- 13:38Speaker 6: you could still do like the yesay kind of situation
- 13:41Speaker 6: and like bring him on with you or you just
- 13:43Speaker 6: have to like throw him in a cargo.
- 13:44Speaker 3: And at that time he was thirteen years old. He's
- 13:46Speaker 3: twelve twelve with thirteen.
- 13:48Speaker 4: So yeah, it didn't want to put him in a cargo, right,
- 13:50Speaker 4: So it was it was definitely a big decision and
- 13:52Speaker 4: a hard one. But like, he's way happier staying in
- 13:55Speaker 4: one place. He's not a travel dog. He loves routine.
- 13:57Speaker 4: That was like probably the worst thing for him. New
- 14:00Speaker 4: people every day, new places. Oh my god, him always
- 14:02Speaker 4: on my toe, is what do I have to do
- 14:04Speaker 4: to guard these people? And then when he was at
- 14:06Speaker 4: Jordan's parents' house and then also my parents' house, he
- 14:08Speaker 4: was like, oh, I have my backyard, I can chase
- 14:10Speaker 4: the deer every day, Like this is perfect.
- 14:13Speaker 5: So it's hard.
- 14:14Speaker 1: It's hard to make that decision, I'm sure as dog owners,
- 14:17Speaker 1: because you obviously want to be with him all the time,
- 14:19Speaker 1: but you realized that this was a better place for
- 14:21Speaker 1: him to be for the time being, and.
- 14:22Speaker 5: It changes your trip.
- 14:23Speaker 4: Now you have time to climb, You have time to
- 14:25Speaker 4: do those mountains, you have time to climb those volcanos.
- 14:27Speaker 4: You have time to do all of these things that
- 14:29Speaker 4: you couldn't really do when you had Nugget. But if
- 14:31Speaker 4: you found like a couple or another bunch of friends
- 14:33Speaker 4: on a trip like this, which like you guys did too,
- 14:35Speaker 4: with a bunch of people, and if they had dogs,
- 14:38Speaker 4: you could be like, okay, let's do a trade off.
- 14:39Speaker 4: You watch the dogs, we're going to go hike this
- 14:41Speaker 4: and then we'll switch the next day. So that's like
- 14:44Speaker 4: I feel like that's the way a lot of our
- 14:45Speaker 4: friends with dogs did it.
- 14:46Speaker 5: Yeah, so it's possible.
- 14:47Speaker 6: It is super fulfilling to have them with you, you know,
- 14:49Speaker 6: I mean, he's like your family member. It's a different
- 14:52Speaker 6: trip and it's more complicated, but it's definitely rewarding and like, yeah,
- 14:54Speaker 6: it's definitely worth I.
- 14:55Speaker 1: Think one of the things that I admire about you
- 14:57Speaker 1: guys the most is your ability to you get away
- 15:00Speaker 1: from the vehicle and you're super active, like always hiking
- 15:04Speaker 1: or climbing or like seeing the back country of all
- 15:07Speaker 1: these slaices. Did you learn how was this something that
- 15:11Speaker 1: developed over time or did the trip inspire to do
- 15:13Speaker 1: more of those activities? Like how did you start out there?
- 15:16Speaker 6: The trip was like pitched does like we're going to
- 15:19Speaker 6: use the vehicle to like go hike and climb in
- 15:21Speaker 6: as many places as we can.
- 15:23Speaker 5: That was the basis of the trip.
- 15:24Speaker 4: So that was like the main thing, just to see
- 15:27Speaker 4: these countries, see the hikes, do all of those like
- 15:29Speaker 4: as many mountains as we could do.
- 15:31Speaker 5: Like the van was is amazing. We love the van.
- 15:33Speaker 5: That's our home.
- 15:34Speaker 4: It was the vehicle to get us to those trailheads,
- 15:37Speaker 4: to get us to those hard to get two places right, and.
- 15:39Speaker 3: We did some like tracks and stuff in the van.
- 15:41Speaker 6: But it's not like the most four wheel drive capable,
- 15:43Speaker 6: you know, off roady vehicle. So like most of the
- 15:45Speaker 6: times we'd be like, oh we want to do something
- 15:47Speaker 6: in this area, we'd go hike instead of like off
- 15:49Speaker 6: road that would kind of be our general choice, or
- 15:51Speaker 6: like backpacking for a.
- 15:52Speaker 3: Few days or something.
- 15:53Speaker 1: Did you have areas where you felt like they were
- 15:55Speaker 1: your absolute favorites, or any hikes or climbs that you
- 15:58Speaker 1: absolutely loved.
- 15:59Speaker 6: Yeah, we had like a new bucket list. Things are
- 16:01Speaker 6: like for the tripp or like we want to climb Cotopaxi. Yeah,
- 16:04Speaker 6: and we did that, which was sweet. It was like
- 16:05Speaker 6: the worst weather.
- 16:06Speaker 4: Like being inside of like a was it ping pong
- 16:08Speaker 4: ball had a deal. I would say tennis ball. That's
- 16:11Speaker 4: not the way to say its tennis. Yeah, still counts
- 16:14Speaker 4: pretty darker. It was gnarly like, but we wanted We
- 16:17Speaker 4: always wanted to climb Cotopaxi, so it was just like
- 16:19Speaker 4: weather window, whatever we can get. We found like local
- 16:22Speaker 4: slash not really local guide who tried to meet us,
- 16:25Speaker 4: and he was like at a roundabout and we were
- 16:27Speaker 4: apparently supposed to pick him up, but that wasn't communicated
- 16:29Speaker 4: to us, so we drove right past him and then
- 16:32Speaker 4: he had to hitch a ride from like this roundabout
- 16:34Speaker 4: into the park, which took a really long time. So
- 16:36Speaker 4: he was already upset when we first met him. And
- 16:38Speaker 4: then he's like we're having lunch, and we're like, okay,
- 16:40Speaker 4: that's fine, let's just all have a giant lunch together
- 16:43Speaker 4: before we climb this. But yeah, so at first it
- 16:45Speaker 4: was kind of a bit unraveling, like, oh god, how
- 16:48Speaker 4: is this going to be? But he ended up being
- 16:49Speaker 4: like this amazing guy, just absolutely incredible, very a lot
- 16:53Speaker 4: of experience. Like everyone who knew him, like at the
- 16:56Speaker 4: lodge at the bottom of Cotopaxi called him Maestro, like
- 16:59Speaker 4: Master Ture, basically like he was the master. And the
- 17:02Speaker 4: weather was so bad the mourning of our climb that
- 17:05Speaker 4: the other groups that were supposed to do the mountain,
- 17:07Speaker 4: they're like, we're going to wait it out. We're going
- 17:08Speaker 4: to wait it out. Our guy, the Maestro, He's like,
- 17:10Speaker 4: I think you guys can do it.
- 17:11Speaker 5: Let's go for it.
- 17:12Speaker 4: He basically kickstepped the whole way. It was like some
- 17:15Speaker 4: of the most snow and rain that they have had.
- 17:17Speaker 3: Yeah, we didn't use crampons.
- 17:18Speaker 4: We didn't use crampons, snowing, just kicking into the snow.
- 17:22Speaker 4: He kickstepped every single step on the route that he knew.
- 17:25Speaker 4: So all the other groups basically followed in his footsteps
- 17:28Speaker 4: and they were just like so thankful, like, oh, we're
- 17:30Speaker 4: not going.
- 17:30Speaker 5: To lose money from these people. We can take them
- 17:32Speaker 5: up to the mountain. But yeah, he's amazing.
- 17:35Speaker 4: We get to the top and we get a little
- 17:36Speaker 4: bit of a view you can see like into like
- 17:38Speaker 4: the caldera or whatever of the volcano.
- 17:40Speaker 5: Or're just like this is incredible.
- 17:41Speaker 4: But it was something we'd always wanted to climb, and
- 17:44Speaker 4: we're just like this is the best, and we wanted
- 17:46Speaker 4: to guide for it because we have climb mountains on
- 17:48Speaker 4: our own for sure, when there's always like movement of glaciers,
- 17:51Speaker 4: movement of crevasses, different times of year, like mountains are
- 17:54Speaker 4: always changing, so why not find a local guide and
- 17:57Speaker 4: then you have like a new friend.
- 17:59Speaker 5: But then we have to you can finish the story
- 18:01Speaker 5: if you want.
- 18:02Speaker 6: I think we would have turned back without him, probably
- 18:04Speaker 6: just because like we didn't know that mountain well and
- 18:05Speaker 6: it was like literally white out raining and we're just
- 18:08Speaker 6: like this is terrible, and like every hour he'd stop
- 18:10Speaker 6: and be like we should probably turn back now, let's
- 18:12Speaker 6: give it another ten minutes, and like every hour for
- 18:14Speaker 6: like six hours the summer mornings, like this is great.
- 18:17Speaker 4: Have a little bit of water, a couple of M
- 18:18Speaker 4: and ms, let's go a little further, a little bit further,
- 18:20Speaker 4: a little bit further.
- 18:20Speaker 1: And that peak is notoriously shy. I remember that from
- 18:23Speaker 1: being there. And the other thing is it erupts from
- 18:26Speaker 1: time to well, it's sword aft can't Yeah, it's active.
- 18:29Speaker 1: I'm sure he had a lot on his mind, for sure.
- 18:33Speaker 6: We get down and we're like so tired. We're just like, okay,
- 18:36Speaker 6: maybe we'll like take a little nap and then go out,
- 18:38Speaker 6: and he was like, no, we should just go. So
- 18:39Speaker 6: we had some food, went down to the van. It started,
- 18:41Speaker 6: which was good, a ton of smoke because it was
- 18:43Speaker 6: parked the high Yeah. And then we had agreed to
- 18:47Speaker 6: take him back home so he didn't have to like
- 18:49Speaker 6: ride back because he was kind of bummed about our
- 18:50Speaker 6: inner first interaction, you know. So we were like, yeah,
- 18:52Speaker 6: we'll take you home.
- 18:53Speaker 3: Where do you live? And he's like, oh rio bamba
- 18:55Speaker 3: and it's like four hours away.
- 18:57Speaker 4: Were like, we're so tired, we're so be Immediately we
- 19:00Speaker 4: get in the van with him. He sat in the front,
- 19:02Speaker 4: I sat in the back, like we have seats in
- 19:04Speaker 4: the back. Both passed out immediately and poor Jordan had
- 19:07Speaker 4: to drive him all the way to his house, just
- 19:09Speaker 4: like and then we're in real Bamba. We're like, oh
- 19:11Speaker 4: my god, we need to sleep somewhere. It was so
- 19:13Speaker 4: bad it cascades into another story. But yeah, that was
- 19:16Speaker 4: one of our favorite hikes.
- 19:17Speaker 3: I was going to say, like Peru and stuff.
- 19:18Speaker 5: Peru was incredible.
- 19:19Speaker 4: Way Wash, Waywash was the longest we've been backpacking, eight
- 19:23Speaker 4: days on our own, no help.
- 19:24Speaker 5: That was awesome.
- 19:25Speaker 4: Organizing that food and whatever food that was very interesting.
- 19:28Speaker 1: What did you learn from that? Do you have any
- 19:30Speaker 1: great like backpacking food packing tips?
- 19:33Speaker 6: No, shaking his head, like we were like, man, maybe
- 19:36Speaker 6: we could find some hydrated food somewhere.
- 19:38Speaker 4: No.
- 19:39Speaker 3: Yeah, we brought like apples, anything we could call.
- 19:41Speaker 4: Heavy heavy stuff and rationing your stuff out. The last
- 19:44Speaker 4: day we had like a Snickers bar and like four
- 19:47Speaker 4: Oreo cookies and we had to hikes two high passes
- 19:52Speaker 4: and hours on the last day and it was hot,
- 19:53Speaker 4: so we'd be like, as soon as we get to
- 19:55Speaker 4: the top of that hill, we each get a bite
- 19:56Speaker 4: of the Oreo cookie, so we would just like rationing
- 19:59Speaker 4: it off by hill and then like our stuff, our
- 20:01Speaker 4: food was gone like so quickly, but we made it out,
- 20:04Speaker 4: but definitely ration learning rationing a lot better, but it's heavy.
- 20:08Speaker 5: So when you.
- 20:08Speaker 1: Guys were at Koda paxi is at where you did
- 20:11Speaker 1: some volunteering or was that Chimborazo's.
- 20:15Speaker 3: Just after that?
- 20:15Speaker 6: Yeah, well, I mean, I guess we volunteered a few
- 20:17Speaker 6: times on the trip with like Funch the mural that
- 20:20Speaker 6: Kendice pant and stuff was like literally the day we
- 20:22Speaker 6: got to Rio Bomba dropped him off. We like found
- 20:24Speaker 6: a spot on Ioverlander. The places we tried, we're like, no,
- 20:27Speaker 6: I can't stay here.
- 20:28Speaker 5: All said no, and we were like, we're so tired.
- 20:30Speaker 4: We went we ate like a pizza each and then
- 20:32Speaker 4: we just kept like talking to places and like yeah,
- 20:34Speaker 4: it was all no, no, no in the town. So
- 20:36Speaker 4: then we found one place that was like a bit
- 20:38Speaker 4: outside of town and that ended up being Castillo del Toura.
- 20:41Speaker 5: And we get there and it's like.
- 20:43Speaker 4: The most amazing people that we like, some of the
- 20:46Speaker 4: most amazing family that we'd met. They own a farm
- 20:49Speaker 4: of guinea pigs. They have cows obviously eat the guinea pigs.
- 20:52Speaker 4: We all know that now. Yes, yeah, they had a
- 20:54Speaker 4: farm and they had a place for overlanders and showers
- 20:56Speaker 4: everything just like a little ranch with like all this land,
- 20:59Speaker 4: we get there, we're so tired, ash I can't even
- 21:02Speaker 4: tell you how tired we were. And you know how
- 21:04Speaker 4: it is when you first meet people and then you
- 21:05Speaker 4: have a car and it's like.
- 21:06Speaker 5: Oh my do is talk to you about everything?
- 21:08Speaker 4: And we're like I don't even know how. We're speaking
- 21:10Speaker 4: words right now, mostly in Spanish, all in Spanish, hard Spanish.
- 21:13Speaker 5: After your brain today, John was like, I'm.
- 21:15Speaker 4: Not talking to anyone, and so I was like, now
- 21:17Speaker 4: I gotta get it together. Meeting them for the first time.
- 21:19Speaker 4: I gonna be staying at their place. So we're just
- 21:20Speaker 4: like talking in Spanish and like my brain is mush,
- 21:22Speaker 4: but I can do this. And then we get to
- 21:24Speaker 4: his front of his house and there's a big wall
- 21:27Speaker 4: that's just painted like this orange color.
- 21:28Speaker 5: And I'm an artist.
- 21:29Speaker 4: His name is Juan, and he's like, I've always wanted
- 21:32Speaker 4: a mural right here, and I was like, oh, I
- 21:34Speaker 4: paint murals, like I've painted stuff before.
- 21:36Speaker 5: He's like, oh my god, this is destiny.
- 21:39Speaker 4: So that turned into us being there for about five,
- 21:42Speaker 4: six seven days painting this mural with the help of
- 21:46Speaker 4: you know, his kid, like this kid who lived in
- 21:48Speaker 4: the back, like that family and just like we just
- 21:51Speaker 4: was at one point, I think we had like six
- 21:52Speaker 4: people on it painting it, and it was this awesome experience.
- 21:55Speaker 4: They fed us so much meat, delicious beers and all
- 21:58Speaker 4: of these things, and we ended up spend in Carnival
- 22:00Speaker 4: with them eating guinea pigs around their dinner table with
- 22:03Speaker 4: like all of his family, which turned into just this
- 22:06Speaker 4: amazing drunken evening where I'm drawing caricatures of everyone like
- 22:11Speaker 4: on their chests and sharpie crazy hoo.
- 22:15Speaker 3: Azool came out.
- 22:16Speaker 4: Yeah, Barazool was like basically like nail polish remover, but
- 22:19Speaker 4: an alcohol that you drink. I don't know how it
- 22:21Speaker 4: didn't melk the water bottle or the bathtub it was
- 22:23Speaker 4: made in. We all like passed that around from like
- 22:26Speaker 4: Carnival and Ecuador and it was, Yeah, it was amazing,
- 22:28Speaker 4: But that was literally like a day. That same day
- 22:31Speaker 4: we climb go to backseat. We met these people and
- 22:33Speaker 4: it turned into a mural so much in a couple
- 22:35Speaker 4: of days, and you.
- 22:36Speaker 1: Have a really special story about how you figured out
- 22:38Speaker 1: what to paint on the mural. I believe is that right,
- 22:41Speaker 1: Like I had a lot of meaning to the owner.
- 22:43Speaker 3: Yeah, he's like a big cyclist.
- 22:45Speaker 6: He always cycles in the area around and like Chimbrazo's
- 22:48Speaker 6: like he could probably ride his bike there easily, and
- 22:49Speaker 6: he's like, oh, I've always wanted to climate and stuff.
- 22:51Speaker 6: So he's like, I definitely want Chimborazo in it. And
- 22:53Speaker 6: then we were like, oh, we should put you on
- 22:55Speaker 6: a bicycle in it. Obviously bacunas and like all the
- 22:58Speaker 6: animals and plants like native stuff, like yeah, yeah, we'll
- 23:00Speaker 6: throw like an overlander in the front of it in
- 23:03Speaker 6: the image, and then like we'll throw our little van
- 23:05Speaker 6: like putting along a road or something like that.
- 23:07Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 23:07Speaker 6: It was like kind of just like I think you
- 23:09Speaker 6: even sketched it out maybe that first night we were there,
- 23:12Speaker 6: so I.
- 23:12Speaker 5: Don't know how she was, Like it was like I
- 23:15Speaker 5: blacked out.
- 23:16Speaker 6: So like she sketched it out and like showed him.
- 23:17Speaker 6: He's like, oh, it's perfect, and well there it is,
- 23:19Speaker 6: I guess.
- 23:20Speaker 4: And then I hid ten Kuy's guinea pigs in it,
- 23:23Speaker 4: and I said ten, but I actually only put nine
- 23:26Speaker 4: in there. So he still thinks he can't find the
- 23:28Speaker 4: tenth one. So he tells all the travelers who come
- 23:31Speaker 4: and stay there, there's ten guinea pig like little hidden
- 23:34Speaker 4: guinea pigs in this you got to find the tenth one,
- 23:36Speaker 4: but I don't think anyone's found it yet. He probably
- 23:38Speaker 4: just drew one in just to like calm his mind.
- 23:41Speaker 4: But yeah, so that meant a lot to him when
- 23:43Speaker 4: he saw like him as a cartoon riding on.
- 23:45Speaker 5: His like bike. Was stoked on that.
- 23:47Speaker 4: And then yeah, we had to put I think Jordan
- 23:49Speaker 4: painted all the stickers from our roofbox on the Delica.
- 23:52Speaker 5: I'm like, I'm not doing that.
- 23:53Speaker 3: He's like, I'll do it.
- 23:55Speaker 4: So tiny, but yeah, it was. It was a wonderful time.
- 23:59Speaker 4: And that it's the whole slowing down, like that message
- 24:03Speaker 4: of like you don't need to go fast, you need
- 24:05Speaker 4: to slow down because that's when these stories happen and
- 24:08Speaker 4: that's when you meet some of the best people you'll meet.
- 24:10Speaker 1: So and you guys did some other volunteer projects. I
- 24:13Speaker 1: think was it a drawing class for some kids?
- 24:16Speaker 5: Yes?
- 24:17Speaker 1: Yes, where was that?
- 24:18Speaker 5: That was in Mexico.
- 24:20Speaker 4: It was an orphanage for kids and just also like
- 24:23Speaker 4: a school. It's just like a mix like whoever could
- 24:25Speaker 4: go and if kids didn't have the opportunity to go
- 24:27Speaker 4: to school, that'd be the place for them to be.
- 24:28Speaker 4: But yeah, we reached out. We're like, hey, we teach
- 24:31Speaker 4: I teach how to draw cartoons. We'd love to come
- 24:34Speaker 4: there and teach the kids how to draw some cartoons.
- 24:37Speaker 4: And they're like, oh my god, that sounds great. When
- 24:38Speaker 4: can you be here? And we figured out a time
- 24:40Speaker 4: that would work and we were just driving through the
- 24:42Speaker 4: area and yeah, so we go there and we.
- 24:45Speaker 5: Like, we meet all the kids.
- 24:46Speaker 4: They're literally all coming off of bus and they individually
- 24:49Speaker 4: come up to us and say hello and.
- 24:50Speaker 5: Thank you for being here. All the kids.
- 24:53Speaker 4: We're like, oh my god, this's amazing, which also took
- 24:55Speaker 4: a really long time because there was a lot of them,
- 24:56Speaker 4: but it was great, and they're I think they're all
- 24:58Speaker 4: pretty young.
- 24:59Speaker 5: I don't think any one was over twelve, so it
- 25:01Speaker 5: was all a bunch of young kids.
- 25:02Speaker 4: It was great because like the older kids took care
- 25:04Speaker 4: of the younger ones and it was just like a
- 25:06Speaker 4: like a big little family basically here. Yeah, we talked
- 25:08Speaker 4: to the headmaster guy, asked him where we could do
- 25:11Speaker 4: all this stuff, and we went to the papellerilla down
- 25:14Speaker 4: the street and got poster boards because they didn't have
- 25:16Speaker 4: a dry race board or a chalkboard or anything where
- 25:18Speaker 4: the kids could watch me draw and copy me.
- 25:20Speaker 5: That's how I do it. So we bought poster boards.
- 25:22Speaker 4: We literally taped them to poles at the orphanage, and
- 25:26Speaker 4: we bought paper for all the kids and like pencils,
- 25:28Speaker 4: and yeah, it turned into this like the girls and
- 25:31Speaker 4: the girls were over here, the boards were over there.
- 25:33Speaker 4: So I taught the girls how to draw like a duck,
- 25:35Speaker 4: a cat, a puppy, and like a butterfly, and they
- 25:38Speaker 4: just copy what I do, like everything, and I did
- 25:40Speaker 4: it all in Spanish, like I don't think I could
- 25:42Speaker 4: do that right now, but I was like, okay, comen,
- 25:44Speaker 4: sama's gone nutties, like start with the nose and like
- 25:47Speaker 4: go from here.
- 25:48Speaker 5: And they would look at what they drew and they'd
- 25:50Speaker 5: be like, oh my god, I just drew that, and
- 25:52Speaker 5: then they would.
- 25:53Speaker 4: Color it and then they saw I remember this one girl,
- 25:56Speaker 4: she saw the wedding tattoo on our fingers and she
- 26:00Speaker 4: drew it all over around her butterfly.
- 26:02Speaker 5: And she's like, I drew this for you. I'm like,
- 26:04Speaker 5: you're so observant. Oh my god, it's amazing.
- 26:07Speaker 4: And then we taught the boys how to draw, and
- 26:09Speaker 4: then and then everyone wanted to play football, like soccer,
- 26:12Speaker 4: so it was just like totally. Then they smoked soccer.
- 26:15Speaker 4: I was like, I'll do the clean up, go play
- 26:17Speaker 4: with them. But it was amazing and that again slowing down,
- 26:21Speaker 4: taking the opportunity, giving back to the communities you're driving through,
- 26:25Speaker 4: and like that made us, you know, like almost a
- 26:29Speaker 4: part of that place just for a minute.
- 26:31Speaker 5: So it was it was awesome.
- 26:32Speaker 4: And like same with the murals, Like those paintings are
- 26:34Speaker 4: going to be there for a while, you know, and
- 26:36Speaker 4: that's like a story you can tell, and they'll tell
- 26:38Speaker 4: that story when other people come look at them, so
- 26:40Speaker 4: you're a part there, you know.
- 26:42Speaker 6: So yeah, kids how to draw and like uh, it
- 26:46Speaker 6: was the day after we climbed Akatanango and Guatemala and
- 26:49Speaker 6: then also in like Chile and like this and like yeah,
- 26:53Speaker 6: like lots of little groups of kids like always like.
- 26:55Speaker 3: Loving to learn how to draw, and they get so
- 26:57Speaker 3: like wild and.
- 26:58Speaker 4: Fun bunnies and puppies and kitty always they all love
- 27:01Speaker 4: that stuff and.
- 27:02Speaker 1: It seems like such a simple thing, but it's so powerful.
- 27:05Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, teaching them how to draw.
- 27:06Speaker 4: And then I remember I taught a girl back in
- 27:09Speaker 4: the day when I was when we were in New
- 27:10Speaker 4: Zealand and I worked for the YMCA, and she kept drawing,
- 27:13Speaker 4: and then I saw her, I think again before we left,
- 27:15Speaker 4: and she's like, I perfected the Easter Bunny.
- 27:18Speaker 5: You showed me how to draw.
- 27:19Speaker 4: I was like, see, like one, maybe one out of
- 27:22Speaker 4: five will do that, and like you can at least,
- 27:23Speaker 4: like you know, help them out a little bit, like
- 27:25Speaker 4: the art inside of them is actually coming out. So yeah,
- 27:28Speaker 4: it's really good to see that.
- 27:29Speaker 1: That's so awesome. And you guys, did you both work
- 27:32Speaker 1: from the road when you were traveling or how how
- 27:35Speaker 1: did that work with your jobs that you had before
- 27:37Speaker 1: you left.
- 27:38Speaker 6: Yeah, we both like finished up work in Vancouver and
- 27:40Speaker 6: then got on the road. I guess we had originally
- 27:43Speaker 6: planned on like a year to do the trip and
- 27:45Speaker 6: that hah. So I think I think we were at
- 27:46Speaker 6: like a year, maybe like nine or ten months, and
- 27:49Speaker 6: we were in Mexico and we were like, well, we
- 27:50Speaker 6: should refigure this out. And then we had to go
- 27:53Speaker 6: back to the States for a couple of friends' weddings
- 27:55Speaker 6: in the summer, and we had missed the window for
- 27:57Speaker 6: Patagonia's summer because we wanted to be there in summer
- 28:00Speaker 6: winter just for hiking instead of skiing. So we're like,
- 28:02Speaker 6: let's take three months, we'll go back to Montreal and work.
- 28:05Speaker 6: And I had found a job there to just do
- 28:07Speaker 6: some work for like three months, and Kenna was working
- 28:09Speaker 6: on like client stuff still, so we were like, go back,
- 28:11Speaker 6: go to the weddings, hit some work for three months,
- 28:13Speaker 6: come back and finish.
- 28:14Speaker 4: I did work on the road. I did a lot
- 28:16Speaker 4: of I did your sticker on the road. Thank you
- 28:19Speaker 4: for hiring me, Thank you yours.
- 28:21Speaker 5: I was in Argentina after a rodeo.
- 28:23Speaker 4: I think I sent it to you after like the
- 28:25Speaker 4: craziest rodeo I've ever seen in my life, just gauchos everywhere.
- 28:29Speaker 4: It's red and drunk in the face, but doing stuff
- 28:31Speaker 4: on horses. You're like, I did not think that was possible.
- 28:33Speaker 4: And then I sent you your sticker in a local
- 28:35Speaker 4: gas station.
- 28:36Speaker 1: I love it. Literally, we love our sticker too, if
- 28:40Speaker 1: anybody's listening. I don't want to get too into it,
- 28:42Speaker 1: but it's basically like a picture of me driving with
- 28:45Speaker 1: my hair like blowing back in the wind, and Richard's
- 28:47Speaker 1: in the passenger seat with a map and his hit
- 28:49Speaker 1: like hat is flying off with an in our little
- 28:52Speaker 1: red truck and we absolutely love our stickers.
- 28:55Speaker 5: Very funnyank you. Yeah, I found over with you guys
- 28:57Speaker 5: and art I know.
- 28:58Speaker 4: Yeah, but doing it for travel like that was a
- 29:00Speaker 4: lot of client work that I did. I worked on
- 29:02Speaker 4: like a comic book, like a little cartoon comic book
- 29:05Speaker 4: for a client and that was like a big project.
- 29:07Speaker 5: So that was good. That was like good money coming in.
- 29:09Speaker 4: But so that was me curled up in the van
- 29:11Speaker 4: on like two different computers sketching on one because that
- 29:14Speaker 4: was all it was good for. But to get on
- 29:15Speaker 4: Jordan's computer and like vectoring or like doing the coloring.
- 29:18Speaker 4: And yeah, not the best setup ever. I didn't have
- 29:21Speaker 4: a place to sit. My back was a mess. But
- 29:24Speaker 4: you would find like local cafes that hopefully had Wi
- 29:26Speaker 4: Fi and just watch like the Spinning Wheel of Death,
- 29:28Speaker 4: like send your file within three hours just to get
- 29:32Speaker 4: like thirty bucks or something before.
- 29:33Speaker 6: In fact, like all our friends are like, why didn't
- 29:35Speaker 6: you just get an airbnb for it would have been
- 29:37Speaker 6: like eight bucks or.
- 29:38Speaker 5: Some dollars in Bolivia to get like.
- 29:40Speaker 3: You never really thought of it.
- 29:41Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't know why I live and learn, So yeah,
- 29:45Speaker 4: next time you need to send like a big project
- 29:47Speaker 4: and you're working and you're traveling, like yeah, go pay
- 29:48Speaker 4: fifteen bucks for like a mansion Airbnb and like middle
- 29:52Speaker 4: of nowhere Bolivia if you could find was it.
- 29:54Speaker 1: Hard to manage? Like you just gave me some examples,
- 29:56Speaker 1: but did you have ongoing client work or did you
- 29:59Speaker 1: go in like spur and how did you balance it
- 30:01Speaker 1: with being on the road full time?
- 30:03Speaker 4: This is great because this is what we're doing a
- 30:05Speaker 4: panel on Sunday, so you have these questions written down. Yeah, no,
- 30:08Speaker 4: it was balance was important because obviously you don't just
- 30:11Speaker 4: want to like be keeled up in the van and
- 30:13Speaker 4: then find a you know, a place with Wi Fi
- 30:16Speaker 4: for days and just like so you do like your
- 30:18Speaker 4: you know. I think one of the best examples was
- 30:20Speaker 4: driving over like the salt flats like Solarda, Uni and Bolivia,
- 30:24Speaker 4: and then I had to send a like a client
- 30:26Speaker 4: a sticker like a logo for her salon. I needed
- 30:29Speaker 4: to get that done. It's very simple and not a
- 30:30Speaker 4: big file. But because the internet there was like so slow,
- 30:33Speaker 4: we're like, okay, we might need to dedicate some time
- 30:35Speaker 4: to this. So we did a couple of days on
- 30:36Speaker 4: the salt flats, and then we dedicated maybe four hours
- 30:41Speaker 4: to sending that file after we were done playing. You know,
- 30:44Speaker 4: so you play, you play, you play, and then you're like, okay,
- 30:46Speaker 4: well gas money is just a click away and four
- 30:50Speaker 4: hours of watching a spinning wheel and then yeah, that
- 30:52Speaker 4: file would be sent and be like okay. But my
- 30:53Speaker 4: clients I would say from the beginning, you got to
- 30:56Speaker 4: be flexible with me.
- 30:57Speaker 5: I'm on this trip. Deadlines are really not in my
- 30:59Speaker 5: life in my book right now.
- 31:01Speaker 4: As long as you have flexibility and you're not needing
- 31:03Speaker 4: something on time and like a very short amount of time,
- 31:06Speaker 4: we can work together. And if that client did say
- 31:08Speaker 4: they needed that, then I would not take on that project.
- 31:10Speaker 5: Most of my clients were all flexible.
- 31:12Speaker 4: A lot of it was just for fun, people supporting us,
- 31:14Speaker 4: people like wanting a sticker and yeah, logos for restaurants
- 31:17Speaker 4: things like that. So yeah, it was a balance of
- 31:19Speaker 4: got to give me the flexibility for it and then
- 31:21Speaker 4: we can go forward and then you'll get it when
- 31:22Speaker 4: you get it. It was never too long, like maybe
- 31:25Speaker 4: just like a couple weeks here and there. I didn't
- 31:27Speaker 4: take any project down. That would be like dragging us
- 31:30Speaker 4: down and working too much.
- 31:31Speaker 5: Mostly quick.
- 31:32Speaker 1: Good to set those boundaries and expectations absolutely time.
- 31:35Speaker 4: Yeah, it's huge, and it kind of just like unfolded
- 31:37Speaker 4: into itself because it was quick projects. And if someone's like,
- 31:40Speaker 4: I want you to illustrate a kid's book, it is like,
- 31:41Speaker 4: I don't have the materials for that here, Like I
- 31:43Speaker 4: would need like my setup, not like a computer from
- 31:46Speaker 4: nineteen ninety seven that I can only sketch on that's
- 31:48Speaker 4: a paperweight, and like a MacBook that's barely working.
- 31:51Speaker 5: Not the best so simple things worked, but nice. Yeah.

- 32:51Speaker 1: And then you guys, eventually when you were done with
- 32:53Speaker 1: your trip, came back and sort of settled in. Was
- 32:56Speaker 1: it squamish first?
- 32:57Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 32:58Speaker 1: And how is that like re entry process with work
- 33:01Speaker 1: and just all like the differences between traveling full time
- 33:06Speaker 1: on the road and then coming back and plugging back
- 33:08Speaker 1: into the matrix as I like to call it.
- 33:10Speaker 4: Yeah, there should be like a group for that, Like
- 33:12Speaker 4: we should all like sit in a circle and chairs
- 33:14Speaker 4: and be like, how do you feel today? Is it
- 33:16Speaker 4: is a huge life switch, but yeah, you can take it.
- 33:19Speaker 6: So when we first got back to Vancouver, we did
- 33:22Speaker 6: a little work on the van and then yeah, we're
- 33:24Speaker 6: just like looking for an apartment because we had jobs starting.
- 33:28Speaker 6: I think we were both like lined up for work
- 33:30Speaker 6: and then we're just like need an apartment. I have
- 33:32Speaker 6: just like big equipment to work on, like post production stuff,
- 33:34Speaker 6: and it was just.
- 33:35Speaker 3: Like need a place to do it.
- 33:36Speaker 6: And we're super broke and like had like credit card
- 33:38Speaker 6: bills to pay, so we're like need to start working
- 33:40Speaker 6: very soon.
- 33:42Speaker 1: What kind of work were you doing?
- 33:43Speaker 6: I do like post production, visual effects, for film, like,
- 33:45Speaker 6: so yeah, just like special effects and stuff. We're looking around,
- 33:48Speaker 6: but it was really hard to find a place. And
- 33:50Speaker 6: it was like getting to the rainy season in Vancouver.
- 33:52Speaker 3: Which is.
- 33:54Speaker 6: Cold, rainy season, so it was like November and We're
- 33:57Speaker 6: like living in the van on the street and.
- 34:00Speaker 5: I'm plan for a service road.
- 34:01Speaker 6: Yeah, either like up for our service roads, or sometimes
- 34:03Speaker 6: we were in North Bend like cruising around and just
- 34:05Speaker 6: like you're like looking for apartments all day and you're like, oh,
- 34:07Speaker 6: we should definitely have a shower today, you know, like
- 34:10Speaker 6: trying to plan that, and then.
- 34:11Speaker 4: It got bothering our friends or like we can't stay
- 34:13Speaker 4: and like burden them anymore, and it is like we
- 34:15Speaker 4: need to find a place.
- 34:17Speaker 1: It's hard in that area too, because it's it's like
- 34:20Speaker 1: can more or like you know all those places where
- 34:23Speaker 1: it's really really hard to find rentals and they're few
- 34:26Speaker 1: and far between. So definitely takes some time.
- 34:28Speaker 5: Oh yeah, it was bad.
- 34:29Speaker 6: And squamish, like over the past like two years or so.
- 34:32Speaker 6: It's like like I mean everywhere in Canada and probably
- 34:35Speaker 6: in the States and just everywhere, but yeah, it's become insane.
- 34:38Speaker 6: We got in like kind of the start of that rise,
- 34:40Speaker 6: So like we kind of got lucky that we found
- 34:42Speaker 6: a place. Even I think somebody had wanted the apartment
- 34:46Speaker 6: and dipped out on it, and I was like, oh,
- 34:47Speaker 6: we're taking something else, and we were like on a
- 34:49Speaker 6: backup list, and like the guy hit us up and
- 34:50Speaker 6: it was like, yeah, you guys can have it.
- 34:51Speaker 5: We got lucky.
- 34:52Speaker 4: But like, yeah, I think before we even got there,
- 34:54Speaker 4: when we got back to the States, like I think
- 34:56Speaker 4: I told you, but all the borders closed around us
- 34:58Speaker 4: because of the pandemic. So before we even like like
- 35:01Speaker 4: at the end of our trip, before we even got back,
- 35:04Speaker 4: we were just like watching onto video closed down and
- 35:07Speaker 4: we were supposed to go back to Buenosaidre's like Argentina
- 35:10Speaker 4: with our friends for three weeks before we were completely
- 35:13Speaker 4: done with the trip. Like we were so lucky to
- 35:14Speaker 4: actually go to the bottom and be working your way
- 35:16Speaker 4: back up before the pandemic closed everything down and a
- 35:19Speaker 4: lot of people like tried to wait it out. That
- 35:21Speaker 4: was not a good idea in the long run, but
- 35:22Speaker 4: like yeah, like when we were coming back, it was
- 35:25Speaker 4: just like, oh God, this is happening, change all of
- 35:28Speaker 4: our flights.
- 35:29Speaker 5: We have to leave Uruguay to get back to the States.
- 35:32Speaker 5: Thank goodness.
- 35:32Speaker 4: We got our van and their car in a container
- 35:35Speaker 4: before like shit hit the fan, really because that was
- 35:37Speaker 4: like in a container ready to be shipped back to
- 35:39Speaker 4: America to Texas. I think that was like the easiest
- 35:42Speaker 4: thing to do, like logistically. And then yeah, we were
- 35:44Speaker 4: on phone calls that kept dropping, trying to switch our flights,
- 35:48Speaker 4: and it was just like you'd get so far to
- 35:49Speaker 4: the point of like, Okay, everything's all set and then
- 35:51Speaker 4: it would drop.
- 35:52Speaker 5: And you're like, no, we got to store from the bottom.
- 35:54Speaker 5: But yeah, it was it was wild.
- 35:56Speaker 4: And then getting back to the States during the pandemic,
- 35:58Speaker 4: like we're just like wait, waiting waiting for the van.
- 36:01Speaker 4: But our first job back from like before doing visual
- 36:05Speaker 4: effects and working in like cartoons, just what I do.
- 36:08Speaker 4: We actually helped our friends. They work for a company
- 36:11Speaker 4: Dirt Sunrise. You probably met Tim Kelsey. They're the best.
- 36:13Speaker 5: We love them. Shout out to them. They're like in
- 36:15Speaker 5: Europe right now. They just got their car back. Oh
- 36:17Speaker 5: my god. They waited forever. Yeah, we worked with them.
- 36:20Speaker 4: They were like, do you guys want a job like
- 36:21Speaker 4: mapping roads for the Bureau of Land Management And we're like, oh,
- 36:24Speaker 4: what that sounds amazing. So as soon as we like
- 36:27Speaker 4: finally got the van back, we went to go help
- 36:30Speaker 4: them out because the couple that usually helps them and
- 36:32Speaker 4: a jeep couldn't do it for that session of work.
- 36:34Speaker 4: So yeah, we went and beat the shot of the
- 36:36Speaker 4: van for like three months and mapping all these incredible
- 36:39Speaker 4: force service roads that we would never have the balls
- 36:42Speaker 4: to drive, saw so many great camp spots and wonderful places,
- 36:45Speaker 4: and actually did a lot of work like literally had
- 36:47Speaker 4: like an old school tracker like beeping keeping track of
- 36:50Speaker 4: where we were driving, and that would show the Bureau
- 36:52Speaker 4: of Land Management people like, oh, this road does still exist,
- 36:55Speaker 4: because they were just working off of satellite imagery to
- 36:57Speaker 4: see if like from ages ago. We'd be like, is
- 36:59Speaker 4: that still there? Someone to drive it or walk it?
- 37:01Speaker 4: If you couldn't drive, which we did, we did a
- 37:03Speaker 4: lot like we can't bring the vand through this you
- 37:05Speaker 4: get a paycheck and then you have to get your
- 37:06Speaker 4: van fax, so you get a paycheck, get your vandax
- 37:08Speaker 4: like a little visious cycle.
- 37:10Speaker 5: But that was our first job coming back off the trip.
- 37:12Speaker 4: So that was a nice little you know, segue into
- 37:15Speaker 4: reality again because that was super fun. But then you
- 37:17Speaker 4: go back to sitting at a desk and you're like,
- 37:19Speaker 4: oh my god, what are we doing?
- 37:22Speaker 5: Love being creative again and drawing that was really fun.
- 37:24Speaker 4: But then you're just like, Okay, I need to just
- 37:26Speaker 4: like make giant calendars and have goals for future plans.
- 37:28Speaker 5: Now is what we're doing?
- 37:29Speaker 1: What are those future plans?
- 37:31Speaker 3: Well or do you know yet? Yeah?
- 37:32Speaker 6: I mean somewhat like yeah, I mean we want to
- 37:34Speaker 6: do another long vehicle based trip. Recent events in the
- 37:37Speaker 6: world have kind of screwed that around a little bit,
- 37:39Speaker 6: depending on what we thought we might do next.
- 37:40Speaker 3: Anything we were thinking of that like vehicle.
- 37:43Speaker 6: Based was probably like a year or two off, just
- 37:45Speaker 6: spinding on like saving and maybe building up a bigger
- 37:47Speaker 6: truck or like a different truck for like a European
- 37:50Speaker 6: trip for instance, instead of like the Delica. But who knows,
- 37:53Speaker 6: maybe the Delica would make it over there too. But
- 37:55Speaker 6: then like also like longer term like hikes and stuff
- 37:58Speaker 6: like that. I think I owe kend to six months
- 38:00Speaker 6: on the trail somewhere.
- 38:01Speaker 4: Probably well, we're gonna hopefully see each other on a
- 38:03Speaker 4: cinaboyin so I'm sure I'm saying wrong because everything in Canada,
- 38:06Speaker 4: I is say it wrong.
- 38:07Speaker 1: But yeah, everything I say in the US, I say wrong.
- 38:09Speaker 4: We're good, like I was pronounced no, no, We're So
- 38:14Speaker 4: we're moving out at the end of June and we're
- 38:16Speaker 4: taking a month and a half to drive across Canada,
- 38:18Speaker 4: which we've never done, which we had more time because
- 38:20Speaker 4: there's so much to see, but we're going to focus
- 38:22Speaker 4: on being do a section of the Great Divide Trail
- 38:25Speaker 4: and do yeah, five days in a Sinaboyne and just
- 38:28Speaker 4: see if we can find some rivers to do some
- 38:29Speaker 4: packcrafting in along the way, which were we've been getting
- 38:32Speaker 4: into recently, which is really fun and new and exciting
- 38:34Speaker 4: and a lot of adrenaline and terrifying. And yeah, we're
- 38:36Speaker 4: going to be going cross country to my family's land
- 38:40Speaker 4: on in western New York. If we could find another vehicle,
- 38:43Speaker 4: that would be the best place to redo it. My
- 38:45Speaker 4: dad basically redoes cars. He's redoing a duster right now.
- 38:48Speaker 4: He's redone a Barracuda, so he's got he's basically like
- 38:51Speaker 4: a hobby mechanic and also a carpenter, so we would
- 38:53Speaker 4: have all the tools there. We'd have like such great
- 38:56Speaker 4: help to redo something. But it's like finding that vehicle
- 38:59Speaker 4: right where the search. Yeah, hopefully we can shop around
- 39:02Speaker 4: while we're here at XPO if we have time. I mean,
- 39:05Speaker 4: even like old ambulances would be really fun to play with.
- 39:07Speaker 4: But yeah, it's like that's like half the fun is
- 39:10Speaker 4: like redoing these vehicles and making them like another home
- 39:13Speaker 4: for possibly a bigger trip, and standing would be really cool.
- 39:16Speaker 1: Yeah, standing is fun. Well, I'm really excited to see
- 39:21Speaker 1: what you guys come up with, very excited to follow
- 39:23Speaker 1: your adventures. I'm gonna steal Scott Brady's question because he
- 39:26Speaker 1: always asks everybody on the podcast what their favorite book is,
- 39:29Speaker 1: and why I'm going to ask each one of you
- 39:31Speaker 1: what your favorite book is?
- 39:32Speaker 5: Oh god, how dare you? What are books.
- 39:37Speaker 3: To be? Fair?
- 39:37Speaker 6: Like on the panem we brought a ton of books
- 39:40Speaker 6: and we're like, oh, we're going to read so much.
- 39:42Speaker 6: And I don't think I read a single book on
- 39:43Speaker 6: the whole trip, and you might have.
- 39:45Speaker 4: Read, like I read a ton of medicinal plant stuff.
- 39:48Speaker 4: Little Prince is a classic. Yeah, you don't even have
- 39:51Speaker 4: like classic ones like that recent favorite book. That one's
- 39:54Speaker 4: embarrassing because it's like a romance novel. I'm not even
- 39:57Speaker 4: saying that one day, I think it was. I was
- 39:59Speaker 4: like so into that book. I was like reading at
- 40:02Speaker 4: lunch like normally would run at lunch when I was working.
- 40:04Speaker 4: I was reading that book at lunch.
- 40:05Speaker 1: Like Age Turner. Yeah.
- 40:07Speaker 4: It was so real, Like that's not something I'm usually into.
- 40:09Speaker 4: I'm like, oh my god, this book is riveting. It's incredible.
- 40:12Speaker 1: I don't know, like that would say like for the adventure.
- 40:15Speaker 5: Like in You as a kid.
- 40:16Speaker 4: Yeah, Little Prince was amazing like that, Like you could
- 40:19Speaker 4: just take any line out of that and that's just
- 40:21Speaker 4: like put that on a plaque and you can see
- 40:23Speaker 4: that and be like, I'm inspired by that.
- 40:25Speaker 1: If you could go to any country in the world
- 40:26Speaker 1: right now, which one would you go to?
- 40:27Speaker 5: Somewhere? I mean I know that that. Yeah, there's like
- 40:30Speaker 5: a lot of crazy stuff happening, but.
- 40:31Speaker 1: It doesn't matter anywhere.
- 40:33Speaker 5: It would be amazing.
- 40:34Speaker 4: Yeah, Mongolia is like like that was that was like
- 40:38Speaker 4: one of our initial plans, like to do across Europe
- 40:41Speaker 4: and just like basically to do that drive all the way.
- 40:44Speaker 5: Across Silk Road. Yeah.
- 40:46Speaker 4: Yeah, that's what you're looking through right now too, right, Yeah,
- 40:49Speaker 4: and just like super researching about it and like that's
- 40:51Speaker 4: like plan for you guys, right.
- 40:53Speaker 1: I hope. So yeah, it's right now is a little
- 40:55Speaker 1: bit dicey, but we have had our eye on it
- 40:58Speaker 1: for a while.
- 40:59Speaker 4: So yeah that I mean even just watching like the
- 41:01Speaker 4: Ewan McGregor and like Charlie Borman stuff going through that
- 41:04Speaker 4: it was an amazing and they barely skim the surface.
- 41:06Speaker 4: Like even when they did, like the Pan American you're
- 41:08Speaker 4: just like you literally just drove through some of the
- 41:10Speaker 4: most beautiful places and did nothing in them.
- 41:13Speaker 5: Took a day to like drive through Peru.
- 41:14Speaker 4: Yeah, on his schedule, but like when they did, like
- 41:16Speaker 4: through Mongolian stuff, like some of those areas are so beautiful,
- 41:20Speaker 4: and like Georgia, Georgia would be ridable. We got a
- 41:24Speaker 4: delicate buddy, yes, And there's like a delicate buddy in
- 41:26Speaker 4: Georgia we stay in touch with and we're like, oh
- 41:28Speaker 4: my god, if we can ever make it there, even
- 41:31Speaker 4: just like to see some of the places he has
- 41:33Speaker 4: are beautiful and okay, I got one more. See I'm
- 41:35Speaker 4: taking all of yours Poland, so like my whole family's Polish.
- 41:39Speaker 4: My grandmother has a book from her father, my great grandpa,
- 41:43Speaker 4: and he basically wrote down like the life story of
- 41:47Speaker 4: his life and his family's life and wrote down every
- 41:50Speaker 4: single place that they like own land and had a
- 41:52Speaker 4: farm and like what his father had. And I sat
- 41:56Speaker 4: down with my grandma and we went through this book
- 41:59Speaker 4: and I was like looking up and showing her on
- 42:01Speaker 4: Google Maps, like where these places where, and she's like,
- 42:03Speaker 4: oh my god, I.
- 42:04Speaker 5: Can't believe you could do this.
- 42:05Speaker 4: Like look, she didn't. She hadn't been to all of them,
- 42:07Speaker 4: is like before she was born in some instances. So
- 42:09Speaker 4: like I would love to do when we do Europe,
- 42:12Speaker 4: when it happens, I would love to just focus on
- 42:15Speaker 4: like seeing those places like that he was in and
- 42:18Speaker 4: putting those on a map and being like this is
- 42:19Speaker 4: like a you know, a family ancestry trip.
- 42:22Speaker 1: Yes, seeing all the heritage trip.
- 42:23Speaker 4: Absolutely, and like same would like Jordan's family. His mom
- 42:27Speaker 4: just like really is in tune with everything that happened
- 42:30Speaker 4: like back in the day with our family and like
- 42:31Speaker 4: a lot of places they've been, so even like putting
- 42:33Speaker 4: those on the map too and just.
- 42:34Speaker 5: Doing like both of our family spots. I think that's like.
- 42:37Speaker 4: A really good premise for a trip that just starts
- 42:39Speaker 4: it up. You know, great story, Yeah.
- 42:41Speaker 5: So great.
- 42:43Speaker 1: Yay, thank you guys so much for coming on the podcast.
- 42:46Speaker 5: So good to see you. Thanks for having us. I'm
- 42:49Speaker 5: so excited.
- 42:50Speaker 1: If listeners want to find you online, where should they go?
- 42:53Speaker 3: Just look up old Later, like we have a old
- 42:56Speaker 3: Later dot com.
- 42:57Speaker 5: Instagram, the Old Later.
- 42:58Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean we're not huge YouTube people were trying
- 43:00Speaker 4: to get better that editing just takes so much time.
- 43:03Speaker 4: I think we have like three videos on that, but
- 43:05Speaker 4: Jordan takes great time lapses, so it's like kind of
- 43:07Speaker 4: easy to do.
- 43:08Speaker 5: So yeah, thank you. So yeah, YouTube Field Later on anything.
- 43:12Speaker 1: I'm sure we'll put that in the show notes. And yeah,
- 43:15Speaker 1: thank you guys again for coming. And I'm going to

- 43:22Speaker 4: whatever it says, it's called ye.
