- 0:00Speaker 1: All Star Toyota Presents Off the Bench. We have Jacob
- 0:03Speaker 1: Hester and Matt Flynn.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Okay, here we go where.
- 0:07Speaker 1: The plays get broken down. Ben Science gets denied.
- 0:10Speaker 2: I gotta come off the bench.
- 0:11Speaker 1: Hour two of Off the Bench Live from the Mercedes
- 0:14Speaker 1: Benz Baton Rouge Studio starts now.
- 0:37Speaker 3: All right, welcome back again.
- 0:38Speaker 4: Now number two OTB one oh four five ESPN Ben Route.
- 0:44Speaker 4: It is now time for the OTB Top twenty five
- 0:48Speaker 4: and we are getting to number nine. A quick recap
- 0:52Speaker 4: at twenty five, it's Boise State at twenty four, Memphis
- 0:55Speaker 4: at twenty three, Baylor at twenty two, Georgia Tech at
- 0:58Speaker 4: twenty one, Tennessee at twenty, Iowa State at nineteen, Texas
- 1:02Speaker 4: A and M at eighteen, Indiana at seventeen, Ole Miss
- 1:06Speaker 4: fifteen or sixteen, Florida fifteen, Texas Tech fourteen, SMU thirteen,
- 1:12Speaker 4: Arizona State twelve at Alabama eleven, Miami at number ten.
- 1:17Speaker 4: It was Illinois and at number nine a Landra at lumber.
- 1:22Speaker 3: Nine, Villa Reale.
- 1:24Speaker 2: I'm excited.
- 1:25Speaker 5: I'm gonna do it, guys.
- 1:27Speaker 3: Oh no, I'm going to do it.
- 1:29Speaker 5: No, what Texas I'm putting Texas at Yeah, alright, do
- 1:33Speaker 5: what you get. I'm not ready to crown them number one,
- 1:37Speaker 5: not ready to put them in the top five yet.
- 1:40Speaker 5: I just feel like they have so much to prove.
- 1:43Speaker 5: That's kind of I feel like that's kind of the
- 1:44Speaker 5: storyline for Texas in general coming into the season. Obviously,
- 1:48Speaker 5: Arch Manning, we've talked about it at nauseum about how
- 1:51Speaker 5: he has so much to prove, all of this pressure
- 1:53Speaker 5: on him because everybody's crowning him the Heisman winner in
- 1:58Speaker 5: the preseason before we've seen anything from him. But they
- 2:02Speaker 5: lose twelve of their starters, a lot of their defenses returning,
- 2:07Speaker 5: but well, the defense also finished ranked third last season.
- 2:12Speaker 5: They only have one returner on their O line, so
- 2:15Speaker 5: that's a little and Steve Sarkisian himself also said that
- 2:19Speaker 5: that's probably his biggest concern two weeks out into the
- 2:23Speaker 5: two weeks out from the season. But they lose two
- 2:27Speaker 5: very productive wide receivers, but they keep Wisner, who was
- 2:33Speaker 5: very very productive for the offense, rushed for over one
- 2:35Speaker 5: thousand yards last season. Like I said, they lose Isaiah
- 2:39Speaker 5: Bond and Matthew Golden, but they return Ryan Wingo who
- 2:42Speaker 5: had some playing time last season, and DeAndre Moore junior.
- 2:47Speaker 5: They both had like four over four hundred receiving yards.
- 2:50Speaker 5: And then they get Khalie Lockett, who is a true freshman,
- 2:53Speaker 5: five star recruit who's poised to make an impact on
- 2:57Speaker 5: this team. And they do have a pretty favorable schedule. So,
- 3:04Speaker 5: but does anybody here in this room think that they'll
- 3:06Speaker 5: win the opener?
- 3:08Speaker 2: I do not. I think they lose to host it.
- 3:13Speaker 3: I think they lose.
- 3:15Speaker 4: I think they lose.
- 3:15Speaker 2: Yeah, they lose by double.
- 3:17Speaker 3: Digits, but they'll lose.
- 3:20Speaker 6: I'm actually with you on that one.
- 3:22Speaker 4: Horns down the Texas really good Defensively, They're great, They're
- 3:28Speaker 4: no doubt about it. They got the best player in
- 3:30Speaker 4: the country and Jem Smith I think is really good defense.
- 3:34Speaker 5: Yeah. Like I said, they're returning defense, yes, exactly. And
- 3:40Speaker 5: those are where all my questions are. I think that's
- 3:42Speaker 5: where majority of people's questions are is on the offense.
- 3:46Speaker 2: So I don't know if it is they're ranked number
- 3:48Speaker 2: one on everything that's actually fair, arc is going number
- 3:52Speaker 2: one in the draft next year? Are there questions for me?
- 3:55Speaker 3: There are?
- 3:56Speaker 2: Their polls don't matter.
- 3:58Speaker 5: Their polls don't matter. The only one that matter is
- 4:00Speaker 5: the OTV poll. They do get a couple of defensive
- 4:03Speaker 5: linemen in the portal. They had like a very quiet
- 4:06Speaker 5: portal haul of only five players that they signed. But
- 4:10Speaker 5: one of the also another big loss for Texas is
- 4:14Speaker 5: Gunner Helms and he was a like you talk about
- 4:18Speaker 5: safety blanket. He was quin you were safety blanket. But
- 4:22Speaker 5: they go into the portal and they signed Jack Injuries
- 4:24Speaker 5: from cal and then another wide receiver from Stanford who
- 4:31Speaker 5: had five hundred and twenty five receiving yards last season,
- 4:37Speaker 5: So they do replace some of it. They do have
- 4:39Speaker 5: some returners that are wide receivers, but they don't have
- 4:42Speaker 5: Matthew Golden and Isaiah Bond Gunner Helms and uh yeah,
- 4:48Speaker 5: I'm gonna put them at ten or nine, sorry nine.
- 4:51Speaker 2: When we get all the way to one, can we like,
- 4:53Speaker 2: as a stage, can we make a press release with
- 4:56Speaker 2: our top twenty five and see of people picking up
- 4:59Speaker 2: We should see how far somebody can pick this up.
- 5:03Speaker 2: Like radio station North Dakota talking about these.
- 5:06Speaker 5: Idiots, I think we should Texas Texas audio stations.
- 5:15Speaker 6: And we not put like baton rouge on it and
- 5:18Speaker 6: just be like just put it out and people are like.
- 5:23Speaker 2: Ye love it.
- 5:26Speaker 4: Texas schedule we all know that's where I was at
- 5:29Speaker 4: Ohio State Landra, what does it look like after you
- 5:32Speaker 4: played the buck Eyes on the road.
- 5:34Speaker 5: So you host San Jose State and then you host
- 5:36Speaker 5: U T L Paso, You host Sam Houston, so again
- 5:40Speaker 5: a favorable schedule, but then you go to Florida and
- 5:45Speaker 5: if DJ Lagway in Florida is as good as everybody
- 5:47Speaker 5: saying they are, then they might have some troubles there.
- 5:51Speaker 5: They host Oklahoma, which that's played in the Cotton Bowl usually.
- 5:56Speaker 3: Yeah, they're they're the home team this year. Yeah, that's
- 5:59Speaker 3: gonna be.
- 6:00Speaker 5: At Kentucky at Mississippi States.
- 6:03Speaker 2: Those are wins.
- 6:05Speaker 5: Then they host Vanderbilt at Georgia which is gonna be tough,
- 6:09Speaker 5: host Arkansas, and then they also in the season hosting
- 6:13Speaker 5: Texas A and M, which might also maybe be.
- 6:16Speaker 4: A tricky one.
- 6:17Speaker 3: So well stretch for them to end the season. Now
- 6:18Speaker 3: two of those games are at home.
- 6:19Speaker 4: Look, those schedules certainly not one of the more difficult
- 6:22Speaker 4: ones in the in the Southeastern Conference, it was not,
- 6:26Speaker 4: and now it's just flipped and just where they play
- 6:28Speaker 4: the game is different.
- 6:30Speaker 2: So buddy, they're gonna get them, fear Mater, You.
- 6:33Speaker 4: Do have look you've got a Georgia problem, and so
- 6:35Speaker 4: you're playing at Georgia on November the fifteenth, and then
- 6:37Speaker 4: you have two rival games against Arkansas and Texas A
- 6:41Speaker 4: and M.
- 6:41Speaker 3: Again, both those games are at home.
- 6:43Speaker 4: But with this schedule, like, I think that's maybe why
- 6:46Speaker 4: a lot of people like Texas as well. It's the schedule,
- 6:48Speaker 4: ye Like when you look at THEIRS compared to Oklahoma's,
- 6:51Speaker 4: or THEIRS compared to Florida, or There's compared to even LSU,
- 6:55Speaker 4: doesn't compare right right now outside now, look, I give
- 6:59Speaker 4: you a lot of credit for going to play Ohio
- 7:01Speaker 4: State on the road, but I'm talking about just the
- 7:02Speaker 4: conference portion of this.
- 7:04Speaker 3: You you know, you go against a fifteenth.
- 7:07Speaker 4: Rank Florida team and a nineteenth rank Texas A and
- 7:11Speaker 4: M team, So your your schedule really comes down to
- 7:14Speaker 4: at Ohio State and at Georgia for me, which is
- 7:16Speaker 4: two brutal games, don't get me wrong. But outside of that,
- 7:20Speaker 4: everything else feels like you can manage it.
- 7:22Speaker 6: I think even if they lose game one to Ohio State,
- 7:25Speaker 6: probably still picking Texas to go ten and two. I mean,
- 7:30Speaker 6: it's going to be tough in Florida. I think Texas
- 7:32Speaker 6: is a better team. They could lose the Oklahoma game,
- 7:34Speaker 6: but you get past Florida and Oklahoma, you're likely not
- 7:38Speaker 6: losing a game until you get.
- 7:39Speaker 2: To ten and two, losing the playoffs. That's a good
- 7:42Speaker 2: recipe for number nine in the country at the end
- 7:46Speaker 2: of the year.
- 7:48Speaker 3: Very fair summer.
- 7:49Speaker 6: I like, I love their defense. Their offense concerns are a
- 7:54Speaker 6: little bit not because of Arch. I think Archer is
- 7:56Speaker 6: going to be good. We do have to see it,
- 7:58Speaker 6: you know, before we can and annoyed him the king
- 8:01Speaker 6: of college football. But they lose their top three receivers
- 8:05Speaker 6: here ago. Now Sark did a great job, brought in
- 8:08Speaker 6: two different five stars, Khalik Lockett, but also Jamie French,
- 8:12Speaker 6: who LSU wanted very badly. You get wise in their back.
- 8:15Speaker 2: But Jayden Blue, he got.
- 8:16Speaker 6: You a lot of tough yards last year. He plays
- 8:18Speaker 6: for the Dallas Cowboys. Now he's gone as well. Like
- 8:21Speaker 6: as good as that defense is going to be. The offense,
- 8:24Speaker 6: I think it's gonna be good. But out of the gate,
- 8:26Speaker 6: you gotta play a good defense like Ohio stage. I
- 8:28Speaker 6: think they're gonna sputter a little bit out of the game.
- 8:30Speaker 6: But I think Texas is gonna be really good.
- 8:31Speaker 2: What's the line four and a half four at so
- 8:35Speaker 2: interesting comment in the chat right now, somebody said Texas
- 8:39Speaker 2: would be favored over a house state if it was
- 8:41Speaker 2: at Texas. That's true, I don't think so. I think
- 8:45Speaker 2: probably favored. I don't think they'd win, but I think probably.
- 8:49Speaker 2: You think they'd be the betting favorite probably right now.
- 8:51Speaker 2: I think so.
- 8:52Speaker 6: I mean, just look at them on paper, They're not
- 8:53Speaker 6: that dissimilar, ye, And I mean, what they're three If
- 8:57Speaker 6: they're a three and a half point.
- 8:58Speaker 3: Favorite alive, the lines down to two, okay.
- 9:01Speaker 2: So yeah, something would be even money. Any more.
- 9:11Speaker 3: Thoughts on the Texas Longhorns.
- 9:13Speaker 4: I think obviously they are going to go as arch
- 9:16Speaker 4: Manning takes them. I think their defense is going to
- 9:18Speaker 4: keep them in every single game that they play this year.
- 9:20Speaker 4: I think it's gonna be one of the best defenses
- 9:22Speaker 4: in the country. Can their playmakers make plays. They get
- 9:25Speaker 4: some running backs back from injury, that's going to be big.
- 9:28Speaker 4: They returned the only thousand yard rusher in the SEC.
- 9:30Speaker 4: That's also going to help any young quarterback. You know,
- 9:33Speaker 4: the receiver position is going to be critical, the offensive
- 9:35Speaker 4: line is going to be critical, but it's going to
- 9:37Speaker 4: go as arch Manning goes. I think we can all
- 9:39Speaker 4: agree there, yeah, agreed, Yeah, Marcision, pretty.
- 9:45Speaker 3: Good play, caller, it's pretty good play.
- 9:48Speaker 2: But you gotta you gotta worry about the longevity the
- 9:50Speaker 2: team's gonna have. They are not real hydrated. Oh, I
- 9:55Speaker 2: think we kick him out of the top ten because
- 9:58Speaker 2: of that, making me horns down.
- 10:04Speaker 4: All right, the Texas Longhorn, I'm with you, the number
- 10:07Speaker 4: nine team and the OTB Top twenty five.
- 10:12Speaker 3: Uh, tomorrow will be number eight.
- 10:15Speaker 4: And then on the final day if you're trying to
- 10:17Speaker 4: do some quick math there you're wondering, Wait a minute,
- 10:19Speaker 4: you don't have enough days. Actually number two and number
- 10:22Speaker 4: one will be on the Friday before the opening weekend
- 10:26Speaker 4: of college football. We go there, you go, number nine,
- 10:29Speaker 4: the Texas Longhorns. All right, we will take a break,
- 10:32Speaker 4: and when we come back, doctor stephn Ethridge will join us.
- 10:35Speaker 4: We'll talk about some of the injuries going across the NFL.
- 10:38Speaker 4: We'll do it right here on ot B Top the bench.

- 12:04Speaker 1: the Core. This is off the bench with Hester and
- 12:07Speaker 1: Flynn Baton Rouge's go to for all things Louisiana sports.
- 12:18Speaker 7: From because you said step side.
- 12:32Speaker 4: All right, welcome back in O TV one four five
- 12:34Speaker 4: ESPN Baton Rouge one of our absolute favorites. Doctor Stephen
- 12:37Speaker 4: Athers joins us now feels like old six to eight radio,
- 12:41Speaker 4: right radio, hanging with Hester.
- 12:45Speaker 2: Yeah, we did a little weird at night, but that
- 12:47Speaker 2: was this was like the one time one segment that
- 12:49Speaker 2: gave us a little like legitimacy to like actually talking serious.
- 12:53Speaker 2: So we're bringing it back to the mornings. Give me
- 12:56Speaker 2: too much credit there, no, no, no, all right, I
- 12:59Speaker 2: got doctor your name, so yes.
- 13:01Speaker 4: So you know we obviously I'm gonna talk some injuries
- 13:05Speaker 4: here with doctor Etheridge, and like more than just like
- 13:08Speaker 4: get into okay, this guy and this injury, what's the timetable?
- 13:11Speaker 4: Like just the injury itself is typically what we kind
- 13:15Speaker 4: of get into there. So obviously there's you know, some
- 13:17Speaker 4: Saints offensive linemen there down there's some Saints tight ends
- 13:20Speaker 4: that are down right now. But okay, so turf toe
- 13:24Speaker 4: is one of the things that is keeping a Saints
- 13:27Speaker 4: offensive lineman out right now. And we were kind of
- 13:29Speaker 4: joking because I had the same thought as you had
- 13:31Speaker 4: growing up. When Dion Sanders had turf toe. I remember
- 13:35Speaker 4: hearing that as you know, gosh, ten year old whatever,
- 13:38Speaker 4: it was like turf toe. Man, if I said, if
- 13:41Speaker 4: I told my dad, I can't go out there because
- 13:43Speaker 4: I got turf toe, you know what you would say
- 13:44Speaker 4: to me? What is turf toe? And like how long
- 13:48Speaker 4: is that recovery? And when you go out there, is
- 13:52Speaker 4: it a situation where you can try to get back
- 13:54Speaker 4: too soon and you know, just continue to hurt it.
- 13:57Speaker 8: Yeah, it's funny because like you said, it's it's one
- 13:58Speaker 8: of those things that just does sound like a big deal.
- 14:00Speaker 3: It's a toe injury. We don't think a whole lot
- 14:02Speaker 3: about that.
- 14:03Speaker 8: But when you're talking about a turf toe, it's specifically
- 14:05Speaker 8: a big toe injury, so the great toe of the
- 14:07Speaker 8: big toe. And sometimes they'll lump a few different diagnoses
- 14:10Speaker 8: in that category. But technically, when we talk about a
- 14:13Speaker 8: turf toe, it's an injury to what's called the plant
- 14:14Speaker 8: or plate, so that's on the bottom of the toe,
- 14:16Speaker 8: so it's the area right at the base of the
- 14:18Speaker 8: big toe. And what happens is that toe gets hyper extended.
- 14:21Speaker 8: So if your foot's kind of bent and you come
- 14:22Speaker 8: down the front of that toe and that hyper extended position,
- 14:25Speaker 8: especially if you have like all your weight come down
- 14:27Speaker 8: on or somebody falls on the back of your foot
- 14:29Speaker 8: or falls on your body, you can sprain or even tear.
- 14:32Speaker 3: That ligament is kind of capsule under the toe.
- 14:34Speaker 8: And so then every time you try to push off,
- 14:36Speaker 8: And as much as we don't think of toe as
- 14:38Speaker 8: being that important, especially that big toe, if you think
- 14:40Speaker 8: about how much with a sport you're up on your toes,
- 14:43Speaker 8: you're pushing off everything you do.
- 14:44Speaker 3: That's explosive.
- 14:45Speaker 8: So even as alignment, when you're getting out of your stands,
- 14:47Speaker 8: when you're having this kickstep and come back and land
- 14:50Speaker 8: on that toe in that bent position, every time you're
- 14:52Speaker 8: hitting that tear, every time you're hitting that injury. So
- 14:55Speaker 8: while it doesn't sound like it's that big of a deal,
- 14:56Speaker 8: I mean it can be excruciating it and functionally very difficult.
- 15:00Speaker 3: Is it something that you can continue to like make worse?
- 15:03Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 15:04Speaker 3: It is it a pain situation?
- 15:06Speaker 4: Can you continue to just look every time you go
- 15:09Speaker 4: out there, it just you kind of hate reset.
- 15:10Speaker 3: Well, you know, like a lot of injuries about severity.
- 15:12Speaker 8: So turf toe, if you have a mile kind of
- 15:14Speaker 8: a Grade one that's more of a spring that kind
- 15:16Speaker 8: of stretch it, you kind of irritated it. Those are
- 15:18Speaker 8: the injuries you can kind of play with with those guys.
- 15:20Speaker 8: You know, sometimes put it like a carbon fiber insole
- 15:22Speaker 8: on the shoe that gives a little more rigidity to
- 15:24Speaker 8: the shoe, so there's a little bit less bend to
- 15:26Speaker 8: that toe. You can do the typically you know, therapy,
- 15:28Speaker 8: anti inflammatory is all the normal stuff that we do
- 15:30Speaker 8: in that.
- 15:30Speaker 3: Yeah, you can usually play through that.
- 15:32Speaker 8: Now when you start getting in the grade two, that's
- 15:34Speaker 8: a partial tear, that's the one that you know, we
- 15:36Speaker 8: might boot that guy for you know, anywhere from four
- 15:38Speaker 8: to six weeks, kind of keeping them kind of you know,
- 15:41Speaker 8: to let that heal. But those will heal and then
- 15:43Speaker 8: you can have a full tear. So if you if
- 15:44Speaker 8: you push these guys back too early, yeah you could
- 15:46Speaker 8: tear it. Full tear is usually going to be surgery.
- 15:49Speaker 8: So that's you know, potentially season ending if that's the case.
- 15:51Speaker 2: Can we come up with like a just a more
- 15:53Speaker 2: better name for it, because what you're explaining here, it's like, yeah,
- 15:57Speaker 2: that's like a torn tendon like in the bottom of
- 16:00Speaker 2: at my big toe, right, Like, let's just come up
- 16:03Speaker 2: with a little bit better name, more severe you say,
- 16:06Speaker 2: like like a torn achilles or a torn a cl
- 16:08Speaker 2: Everyone's like, whoa you say turf toe.
- 16:11Speaker 3: It does make it sound really bad.
- 16:12Speaker 8: And you know, and I guess you know, you can
- 16:13Speaker 8: always use fancier words, you know, a sprain of the
- 16:17Speaker 8: plate at the first, you know, metata turf if you
- 16:21Speaker 8: want to get it, Yeah, exactly.
- 16:23Speaker 2: I take it back, that's right, but with a planner though.
- 16:27Speaker 3: I don't know if you've ever had like plantar fasciaties.
- 16:29Speaker 4: I've I've had that, and they're like, it's better to
- 16:31Speaker 4: actually have that fully tear, then maybe just have something
- 16:35Speaker 4: partial that it's gonna continue to just you know.
- 16:38Speaker 3: Aggravate you. Like I actually heard mine Pope.
- 16:41Speaker 8: Like plantar fashion those they just feel better when they tear.
- 16:43Speaker 8: You know, it's it's it's chronically inflamed and irritated plantar fascia.
- 16:47Speaker 8: You know, compare the toe because it's not quite as
- 16:49Speaker 8: structurally significant that big toe being able to flex and
- 16:52Speaker 8: push off of it. You know, if you have a
- 16:53Speaker 8: complete disruption there, functionally, you're gonna be limited.
- 16:57Speaker 2: Man, I want to talk to out. We brought him up. Al,
- 17:02Speaker 2: you got a friend of the show here and he
- 17:05Speaker 2: will clap. So, first preseason game, couple of couple of
- 17:08Speaker 2: plays into god, you know, an experience that so excited
- 17:12Speaker 2: to get back to New Orleans. So kind of heartbreaking
- 17:14Speaker 2: the scene and like go down with an injury so
- 17:16Speaker 2: fast in the first like preseason game. So he has
- 17:18Speaker 2: a Liz Frank injury and in his right foot. Can
- 17:21Speaker 2: you kind of explain what that is, Like, what like
- 17:24Speaker 2: from a medical standpoint, what a Liz Frank is and
- 17:26Speaker 2: like what is actually tearing or breaking in the foot.
- 17:29Speaker 3: Yeah, so Liz Frank.
- 17:30Speaker 8: It's kind of fun because at least a little more
- 17:32Speaker 8: mysterious name there. It's not quite it's a fun name
- 17:34Speaker 8: and a lame as a turf toe sounding it was.
- 17:36Speaker 8: But so so this is an injury more in the midfoot.
- 17:38Speaker 8: So another foot injury. These these are unfortunately not that
- 17:41Speaker 8: uncommon in sports. Typically this is going to be a
- 17:43Speaker 8: little bigger injury. I mean there's all again degrees of severity.
- 17:46Speaker 8: Is this just a mile this Frank sprain versus a
- 17:48Speaker 8: complete disruption. But you have this area right at the
- 17:51Speaker 8: base of your what are called your metatarsals. So the
- 17:54Speaker 8: meta tarsals are the long bones in the foot. They're
- 17:56Speaker 8: the they're the bones that kind of go from the
- 17:57Speaker 8: midfoot to the toe. So we all have more on
- 18:00Speaker 8: that basically lines up with each toast. You have five
- 18:01Speaker 8: meta tarsal bones, and at the base of that second
- 18:04Speaker 8: meta tarsal where it articulates with the rest of the foot,
- 18:08Speaker 8: these smaller tarsal bones, you can have a disruption of
- 18:10Speaker 8: a ligament there and potentially break the base of that
- 18:13Speaker 8: second meta tarsal. So, Liz Frank, injury is really some
- 18:15Speaker 8: combination of one of those two things.
- 18:17Speaker 3: There's a ligament and a.
- 18:19Speaker 8: Bone, sometimes both, sometimes one, and just like we're talking
- 18:22Speaker 8: about with the turf toe, if it's a mild sprain,
- 18:24Speaker 8: you know, that might be something that we can kind
- 18:25Speaker 8: of boot up for a little bit, we can sort
- 18:27Speaker 8: of work with it. But once you get a true
- 18:29Speaker 8: disruption of the ligament or if you have the fracture injury,
- 18:32Speaker 8: that joint becomes unstable, and an unstable joint in a
- 18:35Speaker 8: foot that's carrying all your weight, especially a big guy
- 18:37Speaker 8: like will, Yeah, that's not a good injury.
- 18:39Speaker 3: So that's usually gonna be surgery.
- 18:40Speaker 8: You're usingly have to go restabilize, put a screw in,
- 18:43Speaker 8: put some kind of a tight wire, depending on where
- 18:45Speaker 8: the injury is, and then let that heal.
- 18:49Speaker 4: Man, you start talking about all the different injuries just
- 18:51Speaker 4: in the foot alone, I know, right, and like how
- 18:53Speaker 4: many different things can go wrong?
- 18:54Speaker 2: Yeah, I was about to ask you a four list, right?
- 18:56Speaker 2: Is it a surgical situation? So you're talking, yeah, it
- 19:00Speaker 2: could be, depending on severity, plate screws, things like that.
- 19:03Speaker 3: Right, And I'm not sure with Will's situation.
- 19:05Speaker 8: I haven't heard the official, but you know, if you
- 19:07Speaker 8: hear he's out for the season, you know my assumption
- 19:09Speaker 8: is more than likely he's getting that fixed.
- 19:12Speaker 4: All right. So ACL is something that you know, we
- 19:14Speaker 4: talk about probably more than any injury in sports. It's
- 19:17Speaker 4: the ACL and it's the how long is it going
- 19:19Speaker 4: to take to get back?
- 19:20Speaker 2: Now?
- 19:21Speaker 4: Obviously, if we're having this conversation twenty years ago, like
- 19:23Speaker 4: we're not even really having it, it's like, nope, done
- 19:26Speaker 4: out Sea, doesn't matter. It's going to be like a
- 19:28Speaker 4: full calendar year, like twelve months, and we're talking maybe
- 19:31Speaker 4: even longer than that. But now we're seeing guys come
- 19:34Speaker 4: back I think much quicker from that injury. The Saint's
- 19:38Speaker 4: got a couple tight ends that are dealing with that
- 19:40Speaker 4: that you know, they happen at the end of last year.
- 19:44Speaker 4: Is it possible for them to have that in December
- 19:47Speaker 4: January and then assume that they can help you out
- 19:49Speaker 4: in September?
- 19:51Speaker 3: You know, September is hard.
- 19:52Speaker 8: We've had guys probably kind of in that eight ish
- 19:55Speaker 8: month range, probably on the short end to make it back.
- 19:58Speaker 8: That's where we are now, and like you said, that's
- 20:00Speaker 8: it's much faster than what it used to be, but
- 20:02Speaker 8: unfortunately that's probably the shortest you're gonna see. And for
- 20:05Speaker 8: for somebody to get back at that eight month it
- 20:06Speaker 8: really needs to be a perfect case scenario, just an
- 20:09Speaker 8: ACL injury, because sometimes you damage the ACL, you can
- 20:12Speaker 8: have moniscus and cartilage injuries with it and everything that
- 20:15Speaker 8: goes into that slows the recovery a little bit. And
- 20:17Speaker 8: then you just got to really just have really good fortune.
- 20:19Speaker 8: We're very lucky, you know, with our athletes that we
- 20:21Speaker 8: have so many resources, uh what we have today even
- 20:24Speaker 8: compared to a few years ago. Let alone when when
- 20:26Speaker 8: when you all played or when I played, even it
- 20:28Speaker 8: wasn't that long ago that the advances we have.
- 20:31Speaker 2: You know, except I appreciate it.
- 20:32Speaker 8: It's it's it's it's it's the rehab, it's the nutrition,
- 20:36Speaker 8: it's knowledge, it's it's better surgical techniques. There's a lot
- 20:39Speaker 8: of things that go into it. But unfortunately you're still
- 20:42Speaker 8: looking at several months. You know that the graft has
- 20:44Speaker 8: to heal in so when you when it's an ACL injury,
- 20:47Speaker 8: you basically make a new ACL. It's not you don't
- 20:49Speaker 8: go in and fix the old one. So that that
- 20:51Speaker 8: new ACL, basically we have to see it mature. We
- 20:54Speaker 8: have see the bone around it grow in. We have
- 20:55Speaker 8: to see all that. Then you've got to get your
- 20:57Speaker 8: muscle strength back. You know, you got to be fairly
- 20:59Speaker 8: symmetric toye side. You got to have good balance, appropriate recession,
- 21:02Speaker 8: and basically teach the body to use this new knee
- 21:04Speaker 8: right as technically it's not the same knee it was,
- 21:07Speaker 8: So you have to kind of learn all that again.
- 21:09Speaker 8: So that whole process takes takes months, and if you
- 21:12Speaker 8: rush it, you're probably gonna retear it and come back
- 21:15Speaker 8: just weaker and not as as functionally well. But again,
- 21:18Speaker 8: reinjury is a big concern.
- 21:20Speaker 2: How has the over the years, how often does that
- 21:24Speaker 2: surgery for an aco because I would say from season
- 21:28Speaker 2: ending it's like the most prevalent one for a season
- 21:31Speaker 2: ending type interlay. What has all changed because I know,
- 21:33Speaker 2: like there's been periods of time where it's like cadaver.
- 21:36Speaker 2: There has been you take hamstring, muscle, like you take
- 21:38Speaker 2: different things. So what is that grafting process now, Like,
- 21:42Speaker 2: what are the specifics why it is so much better
- 21:44Speaker 2: and faster now than it was you know, probably five
- 21:47Speaker 2: to ten, you know, certainly twenty years ago.
- 21:49Speaker 8: Yeah, so some of it, like like you said, there
- 21:50Speaker 8: are different graphs. Most of the times we're using something
- 21:54Speaker 8: from your own body. So you can use cadaver tendons
- 21:57Speaker 8: and ligaments, but you know the problem with those is
- 21:59Speaker 8: sometimes the little bit weaker, there's a little bit more
- 22:01Speaker 8: risk that those may tear again in the future.
- 22:03Speaker 3: So we find that if we're able to use your
- 22:05Speaker 3: own bodies tissue, we're able to do better.
- 22:08Speaker 8: Usually that's coming from either your hamstring, the pateeller ten
- 22:11Speaker 8: or the quad ten and those the big three that
- 22:12Speaker 8: were typically using.
- 22:14Speaker 3: You'll talk to different guys.
- 22:15Speaker 8: That's always a debate in our circles which one's better,
- 22:17Speaker 8: you know, And there's some reasons why each one probably
- 22:20Speaker 8: has favorability over the other.
- 22:22Speaker 3: You know, one might be a little more.
- 22:23Speaker 8: Durable, one might get you back a little quicker, you know,
- 22:25Speaker 8: And we can sit here and have a whole scientific
- 22:27Speaker 8: discussion on which is better. That could last days and
- 22:29Speaker 8: probably not determine it to everybody's satisfaction. But the reality
- 22:33Speaker 8: of it is, what we found is that using your
- 22:36Speaker 8: own tissue typically goes better. And then those techniques for
- 22:39Speaker 8: how we get that, you know, going in and harvesting,
- 22:41Speaker 8: because if we're taking a portion of your Beteller tendon, well,
- 22:43Speaker 8: not only does that ACL have to heal, but that
- 22:44Speaker 8: Pteller tendon has to heal. You might have p Teller
- 22:46Speaker 8: tendon I has problems down the road and things like that,
- 22:49Speaker 8: So we got to be really careful with how we're
- 22:50Speaker 8: harvesting it. But I think a lot of it is
- 22:52Speaker 8: we've learned the perfect amount to take, the perfect place
- 22:55Speaker 8: to put it, you know, where do you put the
- 22:56Speaker 8: tunnel on the bone. There's so many different variables that
- 22:58Speaker 8: go into it, and I think when once we've kind
- 23:01Speaker 8: of researched it and gone back and been critical of
- 23:03Speaker 8: our own work, we've been able to get to a
- 23:05Speaker 8: pretty good point, but it's still a hard surgery.
- 23:08Speaker 4: Now, Doctor Arthurage, obviously we we you know, we can't
- 23:11Speaker 4: talk LSU injuries and that's the team that you work
- 23:14Speaker 4: with there, and we're not going to get into any injury.
- 23:16Speaker 3: I'll just ask you one question I think you can answer.
- 23:19Speaker 4: Have you ever had to explain what tendonitis was to
- 23:22Speaker 4: more people over a short period of time?
- 23:25Speaker 8: Yeah, that's that's for some strangeries and have been an interesting
- 23:27Speaker 8: topic lately.
- 23:30Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, tendonitis.
- 23:31Speaker 8: And it's funny because you know my clinic, I tell
- 23:33Speaker 8: patients tendonitis is one of the you know.
- 23:35Speaker 3: Quote unquote weird problems, you know.
- 23:36Speaker 8: Because you doesn't again kind of a turf tow It
- 23:38Speaker 8: doesn't sound that bad. It sounds like this kind of
- 23:40Speaker 8: mild little thing. But tendonitis, just like the turf toe injury,
- 23:43Speaker 8: there's a lot of different severity. It's it's a hard
- 23:46Speaker 8: injury sometimes to treat because the tendons don't have a
- 23:48Speaker 8: good blood supply. You know, I tell patient all the time,
- 23:50Speaker 8: if you ever look at a piece of steak, you
- 23:51Speaker 8: have this red piece of meat, but a portion of
- 23:53Speaker 8: it starts to turn white. Well that's the tendon because
- 23:55Speaker 8: of poor blood supplies. So that lack of blood supply
- 23:57Speaker 8: can make these injuries hard to heal. So so yeah,
- 24:00Speaker 8: it's a it's a weird problem that that that has
- 24:02Speaker 8: a lot of variability. And and yeah, we've definitely been
- 24:04Speaker 8: been talking about a tendingapathy lately.
- 24:06Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 24:06Speaker 2: Yeah, Like I know we're not talking about anybody specific,
- 24:09Speaker 2: but y'all did a really good job of replacing Nuss's
- 24:11Speaker 2: leg when it fell offs ago. Yeah, a good job.
- 24:14Speaker 2: That surgery is quick, he was on the field, so
- 24:16Speaker 2: good job.
- 24:16Speaker 3: Yeah, and proud to be a part.
- 24:17Speaker 8: Of that year for sure.
- 24:19Speaker 2: Really good job, good stitching. Uh No, So I've just
- 24:24Speaker 2: been curious over the last couple of years. I felt
- 24:27Speaker 2: like I went the first let's just say thirty five
- 24:29Speaker 2: years of my life maybe saw one athlete tearing achilles tendon. U.
- 24:34Speaker 2: It seems like there's ten a year now, Like what
- 24:37Speaker 2: is what? Why is there? Is it just something that
- 24:41Speaker 2: wasn't diagnosed in the past. It's better diagnosis of it
- 24:43Speaker 2: was it called something different back in the day. But
- 24:46Speaker 2: why is there so many achilles injuries right now in sports?
- 24:49Speaker 3: You know, it's interesting.
- 24:50Speaker 8: There does seem to be more you know, I don't
- 24:52Speaker 8: know for sure if there is or if it's just
- 24:53Speaker 8: something we're more aware of. That's always one of the questions,
- 24:55Speaker 8: and there is a lot of speculation.
- 24:57Speaker 4: You know.
- 24:58Speaker 8: Part of it is surface. You know, we always talk
- 25:00Speaker 8: about grass versus turf. Could that play into it? You know,
- 25:03Speaker 8: I'm not saying it does or doesn't, but it's something
- 25:05Speaker 8: that comes up a lot in our discussions. And then
- 25:07Speaker 8: and then I think part of it too. You have
- 25:09Speaker 8: you have guys that are bigger and faster and stronger.
- 25:11Speaker 8: I mean, I swear every year I see these guys
- 25:13Speaker 8: coming in and maybe it's just because I'm getting older
- 25:15Speaker 8: and smaller, but they look bigger and faster and stronger
- 25:18Speaker 8: every year. And and the thing is, you know, it's
- 25:20Speaker 8: all about physics. You put so much load on any structure,
- 25:23Speaker 8: eventually you're going to reach that peak. So if we're
- 25:25Speaker 8: talking about bigger and faster and more explosion, uh, you know,
- 25:28Speaker 8: sports have become more year round. If we look at
- 25:30Speaker 8: sports right now, they're training more and more. And while
- 25:32Speaker 8: that might make them bigger, faster, stronger, it's more wear
- 25:35Speaker 8: and tear as well.
- 25:36Speaker 3: So I think it's probably all those things.
- 25:37Speaker 2: I don't know if Kirk Cousins fits that mold though, yeah,
- 25:41Speaker 2: or Aaron Rodgers for that matter. Well was turf though,
- 25:44Speaker 2: So it was turf. It's interesting. It's wilds I mean,
- 25:49Speaker 2: have to we talked the Achilles. It's just it's so
- 25:52Speaker 2: crazy how they do to such a prevalent injury right
- 25:55Speaker 2: now everywhere. And I don't understand.
- 25:58Speaker 4: I don't.
- 25:58Speaker 3: I don't ever remember hearing it when we were playing.
- 26:03Speaker 4: Teammates.
- 26:04Speaker 8: I don't remember a lot, you know. And again it's
- 26:06Speaker 8: it's it's maybe again. Maybe that's just the memory thing
- 26:09Speaker 8: not working as well. But uh, I'm with you on that.
- 26:12Speaker 4: All right, Doc, before we let you go. If you
- 26:14Speaker 4: don't know, Doc played football at Florida State. Florida State
- 26:17Speaker 4: didn't have a great year last year. They had two victories,
- 26:20Speaker 4: one against an FBS team opening up with Alabama. I mean, what, hey,
- 26:25Speaker 4: what a great way to get back on track. It
- 26:27Speaker 4: would be a great way. You know.
- 26:29Speaker 8: I want to say I have confidence in my seminoles,
- 26:32Speaker 8: but in that one, you know, I'm just hoping for
- 26:34Speaker 8: a close, close game and hoping they do well.
- 26:35Speaker 2: And it was. It was a rough year.
- 26:36Speaker 4: It is a dope and they did. They upgraded dok
- 26:39Speaker 4: and they've got new facilities. Found No, Jimbo was was
- 26:41Speaker 4: screaming for That's really the reason he left and went
- 26:43Speaker 4: to Texas A and M.
- 26:44Speaker 8: Yeah, the facilities needed an upgrade, and I'm glad to
- 26:46Speaker 8: see they're doing it.
- 26:47Speaker 3: I'll tell you it's it's a beautiful stadium.
- 26:48Speaker 8: If y'all never been, it's, in my opinion, I'm very biased,
- 26:50Speaker 8: one of the prettiest stadiums.
- 26:51Speaker 3: But uh, but yeah, I hope they have a good year.
- 26:53Speaker 8: Last year was rough, you know, a tailor two different
- 26:55Speaker 8: years the past couple but hopefully this will be closer
- 26:57Speaker 8: to two years ago.
- 26:59Speaker 2: College football's better in Florida State is at least sure, right, for.
- 27:02Speaker 4: Sure, Auburn tried to take away y'alls nineteen ninety three
- 27:05Speaker 4: national championship yesterday though, all right, good year by them. Yeah,
- 27:11Speaker 4: flor stay one at that year. But it sounds like
- 27:12Speaker 4: maybe Auburn thinks they did as well. Doctor Dwreds, We
- 27:15Speaker 4: appreciate it, man, It's always a pleasure.
- 27:17Speaker 3: My pleasure, thanks, doc. All Right, Well, they rate.

- 29:31Speaker 5: I didn't even think about the Bush thing earlier.
- 29:34Speaker 3: Yeah, be messed what we're talking about.
- 29:38Speaker 4: We're talking about the Reggie Bush Bush push push push.
- 29:43Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 29:44Speaker 4: Then turned into because we're child.
- 29:46Speaker 2: Because we're children with immature brains. You're welcome.
- 29:52Speaker 4: Is what it is, is what it is.
- 29:54Speaker 2: But we did bring some intelligence to this studio. It's
- 29:59Speaker 2: gone now God high intelligence. Shit, Thank doctor Ethartes. We
- 30:06Speaker 2: appreciate where you are going to try, depending on schedules
- 30:10Speaker 2: prevailing for him to make that a more common segment,
- 30:13Speaker 2: maybe a weekly segment, because we just find it fascinating
- 30:17Speaker 2: to we all hear the injuries, we talk about them.
- 30:19Speaker 2: We hear players all over the NFL with you know
- 30:22Speaker 2: there's something new that pops up every single year with
- 30:25Speaker 2: something happening. So we're gonna be able to get an
- 30:27Speaker 2: inside look from a doctor's perspective on an orthopedic and
- 30:31Speaker 2: somebody that works with athletes on just taking a deep
- 30:34Speaker 2: dive and educating us all on the specifics of that
- 30:37Speaker 2: and the specifics for the treatment, the surgeries and what
- 30:40Speaker 2: they're actually doing. So it's really cool, really cool stuff
- 30:44Speaker 2: that he is he's willing to do that.
- 30:47Speaker 4: I like, I have heard turf toe, Like I've talked
- 30:51Speaker 4: about turf toe for a long time.
- 30:53Speaker 3: That is the first time I actually know what turfoe is.
- 30:55Speaker 2: Yeah, I thought it was kind of just like a hangnail.
- 30:57Speaker 4: I thought it was more like a big toe't sprain,
- 31:00Speaker 4: Yeah you know what I mean, till hurts, till hurts, Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 31:03Speaker 4: you get ingro Ton there, But something on the turf No,
- 31:07Speaker 4: So I've got a different perspective on that. And uh,
- 31:11Speaker 4: hopefully we're gonna have doctor Ethrids join us on Wednesdays
- 31:14Speaker 4: and so any injury throughout the NFL any with obviously
- 31:18Speaker 4: the New Orleans Saints. Now again he knows LSU team doctor,
- 31:21Speaker 4: so we're not going to dive into LSU, but you know,
- 31:23Speaker 4: just injuries in general, like if you see them pop up,
- 31:26Speaker 4: we can talk through them, talk rehab process.
- 31:29Speaker 2: Uh.
- 31:29Speaker 4: Doctor Athridge was such a great asset for us. If
- 31:32Speaker 4: you remember when everybody was having tightrope surgery, remember two
- 31:36Speaker 4: talking about Loa had that in twenty nineteen. It was like,
- 31:38Speaker 4: wait a minute, what is this?
- 31:40Speaker 2: And so like every year it's something new, like there's
- 31:43Speaker 2: some sort of injury or surgical technique that is the
- 31:47Speaker 2: hot technique, the tightrope man.
- 31:50Speaker 4: I forgot about that one job because it was like
- 31:52Speaker 4: nobody was like, we hadn't talked about it. Yeah, it
- 31:55Speaker 4: was something it was like high ankle's brain right, It
- 31:58Speaker 4: wasn't like a severe thing, but they did a pretty
- 32:00Speaker 4: severe surgery for a get fairly common injury. Yeah, that's
- 32:04Speaker 4: something's gonna keep you out, you know, maybe a couple
- 32:07Speaker 4: of months, maybe a month, maybe six weeks maybe yeah,
- 32:09Speaker 4: maybe four to six weeks and it got you back
- 32:12Speaker 4: in two to three Yeah. Yeah, So I.
- 32:14Speaker 3: Mean, is a juice worth a squeeze? I guess at
- 32:17Speaker 3: that point would be the question.
- 32:19Speaker 4: But you know, if it's your quarterback and you've got
- 32:21Speaker 4: national championship aspirations.
- 32:22Speaker 3: I guess, yeah, I guess it is.
- 32:25Speaker 2: M two I got. I will do anything like old.
- 32:31Speaker 3: Old Bud Kilmer.
- 32:32Speaker 4: You know he will.
- 32:33Speaker 2: He will do anything to throw a couple of passes
- 32:36Speaker 2: on Sunday. God bless him.
- 32:41Speaker 4: Toughness to a fault, which I appreciate.
- 32:45Speaker 3: I love it.
- 32:46Speaker 4: I love the fact.
- 32:47Speaker 3: But no, man, Coach Kilmer's got that needle.
- 32:51Speaker 4: Keet that thing away from my knee before God.
- 32:54Speaker 2: That needle comes anywhere, nigger his knee, rip your arms
- 32:57Speaker 2: off and bait you over the handle them.
- 33:03Speaker 3: Why in the hell did you sound just like James Vanderbeek.
- 33:06Speaker 3: Aren't they have you seen this movie?
- 33:09Speaker 2: Because I don't want your life? Oh that that was
- 33:12Speaker 2: actually scary. Oh that was actually Billy Bob who said that,
- 33:15Speaker 2: right p I.
- 33:17Speaker 4: Know, but you sounded just like James Vanderbeek.
- 33:24Speaker 2: It's called the Oop, do you? Is it?
- 33:27Speaker 4: Mississippi Valley.
- 33:28Speaker 2: The Valley scores forty points a game with the offense.
- 33:31Speaker 4: Yeah, they do the Valley that they do. I wonder
- 33:36Speaker 4: if the Saints can get back either one of those
- 33:38Speaker 4: tight ends during the season. And when that's gonna be
- 33:44Speaker 4: I mean a cl It's not twelve months anymore, but
- 33:47Speaker 4: also like can you come back in nine? I don't
- 33:49Speaker 4: really know that information. It's a it's a position where
- 33:53Speaker 4: they needed some help.
- 33:55Speaker 2: Doctor said, it's tough, Like yeah, and I think it's
- 33:57Speaker 2: probably person my person, dude, and I I'd like to
- 34:00Speaker 2: get in like next time he's on about you know,
- 34:02Speaker 2: the what they're doing for recovery too, So like the
- 34:05Speaker 2: grafting and the techniques are a lot better. Certainly gets
- 34:07Speaker 2: you there a lot faster and it's not a career
- 34:10Speaker 2: ending injury situation anymore. But like the techniques because there's
- 34:14Speaker 2: stem cells technology, like there used to be PRP but
- 34:17Speaker 2: now it's more stem cells, Like how is that all?
- 34:19Speaker 2: And it depends on how your body accepts them, and
- 34:22Speaker 2: like it's just individualized so much. And and then the
- 34:26Speaker 2: physical therapy it's like how you know, how accomplished are
- 34:29Speaker 2: your pets and how quickly can they their program? But
- 34:34Speaker 2: it's it's you know, one guy, they might both be
- 34:37Speaker 2: in great shape, they might be doing the same things,
- 34:39Speaker 2: but one guy's body just responds to those stem cells
- 34:42Speaker 2: or p RP or whatever. It is a little bit
- 34:44Speaker 2: more like what you know, I don't even talking medical stuff,
- 34:48Speaker 2: but you get it.
- 34:50Speaker 3: Doing a great job.
- 34:50Speaker 2: You get it. I have stems, thank you, white blood cells.
- 34:54Speaker 5: What he's talking about, and I do, Yeah.
- 34:57Speaker 2: I just people don't think I do, so they're going
- 34:59Speaker 2: to discredit it. I had stem cells multiple times. They
- 35:01Speaker 2: actually stem cells gave me ten and nightis right here
- 35:03Speaker 2: my elbow. He talked about how the tendons don't get
- 35:06Speaker 2: a lot of blood flow, right, because I learned a
- 35:08Speaker 2: lot about that. Yeah, it gave me probably two to
- 35:12Speaker 2: three years extra stem cells and driving inland.
- 35:16Speaker 4: I when I first when we first started doing this here,
- 35:21Speaker 4: I guess twenty eighteen. I think it was the first
- 35:24Speaker 4: year we started doing hanging with us for that sur
- 35:26Speaker 4: Night sounds right. I don't know if you remember, but yeah,
- 35:29Speaker 4: we had we had a stem cell sponsor for a
- 35:31Speaker 4: little bit, and they did it on my knee like
- 35:35Speaker 4: full on, like took it from my love handles, did
- 35:37Speaker 4: the hole, spinning it up, put it in my knee,
- 35:39Speaker 4: And there was a like a big portion of my
- 35:43Speaker 4: life where I couldn't drive past like thirty minutes if
- 35:46Speaker 4: I s cruise control, cool, but I couldn't have my
- 35:48Speaker 4: foot on the pedal like on a road trip. Like
- 35:50Speaker 4: my knee had a Baker sist it would swell up
- 35:52Speaker 4: where it would just it would go to sleep and
- 35:55Speaker 4: you'd have to like hit it and I try to
- 35:57Speaker 4: move it around, get some blood flowing. And man, I
- 35:59Speaker 4: had that procedure. No more trouble, it's no swelling. They
- 36:05Speaker 4: took it themselves. They got they extracted that from fat. Yeah, well,
- 36:08Speaker 4: I love handles. I mean I think it's you know,
- 36:11Speaker 4: well there's.
- 36:11Speaker 5: Different ways batteries and lose love handles at the same time.
- 36:15Speaker 3: Well, no, you don't lose them. Yeah, it's not like.
- 36:18Speaker 2: Yeah that much.
- 36:20Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, sounds perfect. Yeah, they get it.
- 36:23Speaker 4: And I mean, dude, I was in the office for
- 36:24Speaker 4: a morning. I mean I was there for like four hours.
- 36:26Speaker 4: And when I say, like I couldn't do anything without
- 36:30Speaker 4: my knee just like swelling and getting to a point
- 36:32Speaker 4: where it's like it felt like it was gonna pop.
- 36:34Speaker 3: And so you know, it is like its just like
- 36:35Speaker 3: you can't bend it.
- 36:36Speaker 4: It's so I'm a full believer in getting no for sure,
- 36:41Speaker 4: that does.
- 36:41Speaker 2: I got my tenant I in training camp in Seattle,
- 36:44Speaker 2: and it was like debilitating path like I took a
- 36:46Speaker 2: you know, liver killing amount of anti inflammatories like to
- 36:50Speaker 2: practice and to be able to play right. So like
- 36:53Speaker 2: at the end of the year, I go to a
- 36:56Speaker 2: medical facility, a famous medical facility. I get like I do.
- 37:00Speaker 2: I do the PT there, we do p r P,
- 37:03Speaker 2: and I don't throw for two months. I pick a
- 37:05Speaker 2: ball up and at that time, I like just getting
- 37:08Speaker 2: traded to Oakland. At the time I pick a ball up,
- 37:10Speaker 2: I throw it. It hurt the exact same amount. So
- 37:12Speaker 2: I leave. I come back to bat Ruge. I start
- 37:14Speaker 2: getting dry needling. I get introduced to stem cells, and
- 37:17Speaker 2: I got stem cells for the first time, like in
- 37:19Speaker 2: August in I'm middle of the training camp in Oakland,
- 37:23Speaker 2: and and it doesn't work at first, Like they have
- 37:26Speaker 2: to like they have to take over, they have to
- 37:27Speaker 2: be accepted, and they have to start doing making doing
- 37:29Speaker 2: their doing their magic. And so this stem cell came
- 37:33Speaker 2: from the crown of my hip. So they extracted bone
- 37:35Speaker 2: mara out of the hip, spune around, got the stem cells,
- 37:38Speaker 2: and they mix it with your your your red blood cells,
- 37:41Speaker 2: your PRP. They put it back like right on the spot.
- 37:44Speaker 2: It was. It was a wild procedure too, because like
- 37:46Speaker 2: I hear the they're drilling into my hip, I'm you know,
- 37:49Speaker 2: I'm the lake for all this like you're seeing like
- 37:52Speaker 2: the they're doing it by ultrasound too, so they can
- 37:54Speaker 2: see where the needle's going in. I see like my
- 37:56Speaker 2: older nerve and I'm like, it's like so close to it.
- 37:58Speaker 2: I'm like, please don't hit up, Please don't hit up.
- 38:00Speaker 2: That would be awful.
- 38:01Speaker 4: Yeah, I'd be real bad if you didn't have any
- 38:03Speaker 4: feeling in your fingertails.
- 38:04Speaker 2: So they're like, Okay, this is gonna take you know,
- 38:06Speaker 2: eight to eight to twelve months to ever like to feel,
- 38:10Speaker 2: or eight to twelve weeks or something like that to
- 38:12Speaker 2: start feeling effect. Maybe six to ten something like that. Well,
- 38:16Speaker 2: I didn't feel any relief. But two months later I'd
- 38:21Speaker 2: been released from Oakland Yea, gone to Buffalo and I
- 38:23Speaker 2: got back to Green Bay that time period, my two
- 38:26Speaker 2: weeks in Buffalo is started feeling better then I got
- 38:29Speaker 2: to when I got to Green Bay, hardly any pain
- 38:31Speaker 2: at all. Yeah, all pretty much gone, and then there's
- 38:35Speaker 2: a little bit there lingering. Went back and got another
- 38:38Speaker 2: round of it in the off season. I've never felt again.
- 38:42Speaker 2: Wow it. I would not if I didn't find that,
- 38:44Speaker 2: Like if I would have said, all right, the PRP
- 38:46Speaker 2: doesn't work. My treatment doesn't work. I'm at like this
- 38:49Speaker 2: big institution famous for being able to heal people and
- 38:52Speaker 2: treat people. It didn't do anything. Yeah, like what do
- 38:55Speaker 2: I do? I can't keep taking these anti flams like
- 38:58Speaker 2: I am.
- 38:58Speaker 3: Yeah, it's not healthy yeaing them like their tic TACs.
- 39:01Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 39:01Speaker 2: So they did, and then I played two or three
- 39:03Speaker 2: three more years. So were we year was up twenty
- 39:08Speaker 2: twelves when I got the ten and nightis originally no
- 39:10Speaker 2: it's still like played it was, but it like I
- 39:14Speaker 2: went to Oakland, huge effect on me, well because I just.
- 39:17Speaker 6: Remember when Peyton was having the stem cell therapy on
- 39:21Speaker 6: his neck.
- 39:21Speaker 4: You had to go overseas that aint that was the
- 39:24Speaker 4: same time period.
- 39:25Speaker 6: Yeah, so it said Peyton had it in eleven so
- 39:27Speaker 6: like but I remember they said it wasn't like super
- 39:31Speaker 6: readily available.
- 39:32Speaker 4: I mean the libraries that I was doing for this company,
- 39:35Speaker 4: like it was in the library, like you used to
- 39:37Speaker 4: have to go to like Germany for this, and then
- 39:39Speaker 4: you could do it in ban Aruge in twenty eighteen.
- 39:41Speaker 2: So when I would when I got them, I flew
- 39:43Speaker 2: to Denver to get mine because there was in Colorado
- 39:46Speaker 2: you could do it from bone marrow, which is the
- 39:48Speaker 2: most effective one, at least at the time it was
- 39:50Speaker 2: or known to be. And what I heard, I don't
- 39:54Speaker 2: know if this is true. Never never asked questions, but
- 39:57Speaker 2: it was like this is These people are one of
- 39:58Speaker 2: the reasons why Peyton also kind of went to like
- 40:01Speaker 2: he had these that kind of treatment available to.
- 40:04Speaker 4: Him for his real quick before we take a break,
- 40:08Speaker 4: I think we have a new tagline for this show,
- 40:12Speaker 4: and it's thanks to our guy Scott Dyce inside to
- 40:15Speaker 4: buy you four chat. Okay, welcome to OTB where we
- 40:19Speaker 4: are made up of stem cells CTE and toward all.
- 40:24Speaker 2: I like that. I like that, and it was indocent
- 40:27Speaker 2: for me.
- 40:28Speaker 3: It was toward off for me. So you're on the
- 40:30Speaker 3: right track.
- 40:33Speaker 4: You want to put that wear straight into the IV
- 40:35Speaker 4: before the game?
- 40:36Speaker 3: Go ahead, go ahead, go ahead? Yeah, main vein that.
- 40:42Speaker 2: All right?
- 40:42Speaker 3: On that note, I can't beat that one more OTB
- 40:44Speaker 3: when we come.
- 40:45Speaker 1: Back off the bench.

- 41:24Speaker 2: not great for the environment, but like you can just

- 41:28Speaker 2: Uh So, commercial residents, I'll tell you they did it
- 41:31Speaker 2: for us. They help our house twenty four to seven

- 41:42Speaker 2: emphasize twenty four to seven emergency service. Give them a
- 41:46Speaker 2: call or go see them. Central Plumbing Dot Org.

- 42:38Speaker 4: ESPN Betters.
- 42:39Speaker 3: Hey, where's our box? Oh uh, what'd you do with that?
- 42:46Speaker 4: Why'd you think Dr Radwis was gonna steal it? Some
- 42:50Speaker 4: pretty big cards in there. We got our the cards
- 42:54Speaker 4: that we've been talking about for a long time, some
- 42:57Speaker 4: of the month ago, the old big boys.
- 43:00Speaker 2: It's about a month ago. We sent off five cards.
- 43:04Speaker 2: It was our biggest cards that we had raw and
- 43:08Speaker 2: we sent them off to p. S A.
- 43:10Speaker 3: And even it takes a month.
- 43:12Speaker 2: Extra paid the extra for the expert that it took
- 43:14Speaker 2: a month. It's right here, big deal. We'll got that
- 43:18Speaker 2: beat right there. See this little cardboard box. So we
- 43:21Speaker 2: are going to actually open them. We're gonna do it
- 43:25Speaker 2: on the show. We're gonna give a little teas. We're
- 43:27Speaker 2: gonna make a video. What do you want to do?
- 43:29Speaker 2: M So we're gonna see what we got graded right here,
- 43:32Speaker 2: big boys.
- 43:33Speaker 4: We got two minutes. Can you do it in two minutes?
- 43:36Speaker 2: The people need to know. We need to spend lots
- 43:38Speaker 2: of time on it. On our sports cards. Oh those
- 43:44Speaker 2: are sent to Dragon Yeah yeah, Dragon Flying domestic shipping.
- 43:51Speaker 4: I've got to know like what the carrier like when
- 43:53Speaker 4: he's printing that off.
- 43:54Speaker 2: He's like dragon. Uh his parents hate FedEx. Guy was like, hey,
- 43:58Speaker 2: you gotta get you for drag. Yeah, buddy, it's me.
- 44:02Speaker 3: That's a self given nickname.
- 44:04Speaker 4: There, mister deliverer person of it.
- 44:07Speaker 2: Not on a birth certificate. Yours truly gave it to
- 44:11Speaker 2: yours truly. Yeah.
- 44:12Speaker 4: The card grading stuff is it's fascinating to me just
- 44:16Speaker 4: with how much more value it can bring your card
- 44:19Speaker 4: or you know, honestly, if you get a bad grade,
- 44:21Speaker 4: like you can kind of keep it the same even
- 44:23Speaker 4: though you went through this entire process and sometimes like
- 44:25Speaker 4: even like keep it right at the raw number.
- 44:28Speaker 2: Yeah, it's it's a very interesting market because it is
- 44:32Speaker 2: not it's kind of like judging like a gymnastics me.
- 44:36Speaker 2: It's kind of like there's parameters you stay within, there's
- 44:38Speaker 2: things you look for, but at the end of the day,
- 44:40Speaker 2: it's kind of kind of somebody's opinion and there's a
- 44:43Speaker 2: big swing in value based on that final opinion. Right. Again,
- 44:48Speaker 2: there's parameters they work and know they're centering. There's edges
- 44:50Speaker 2: and corners. They're like things that are obvious but to
- 44:54Speaker 2: the naked eye, to these eyes, they should all be tense.
- 44:59Speaker 3: They should all be billy about.
- 45:00Speaker 2: Oh, we wouldn't be sending them in if we didn't
- 45:02Speaker 2: think they were beautiful and perfect.
- 45:05Speaker 4: Yeah, it is wild the amount, like certainly of bigger cards.
- 45:09Speaker 4: The bigger you get, the more it matters, like the
- 45:11Speaker 4: difference between a PSA nine and a PSA ten and
- 45:14Speaker 4: the value of that card, even though it's just.
- 45:16Speaker 3: One number away.
- 45:17Speaker 4: It might be one little centering issues. Maybe it's just
- 45:20Speaker 4: like this one little small thing and what it does
- 45:23Speaker 4: to the value.
- 45:24Speaker 2: So we're all gonna find out if we hit the
- 45:26Speaker 2: big boy value. Oh, we just wasted our time and money,
- 45:32Speaker 2: which a lot of the card game.
- 45:34Speaker 3: Is, and emotions and emotions and our emotions.
- 45:37Speaker 4: We've got, would you rather Wednesday when we come back,
- 45:41Speaker 4: We've still got a deer Olandra, So go ahead and
- 45:43Speaker 4: get those deer Alandra. Dear Delandra questions in the bayue
- 45:46Speaker 4: four chat as well before you when we jump back

- 45:56Speaker 4: step into the dear Delandra. All right, give us some
- 45:59Speaker 4: good stuff because she's gonna have great music to go
- 46:02Speaker 4: with it. All right, it is always a good time
- 46:05Speaker 4: to go for dose. But what a great time it is.
