- Lucas: Welcome back to Learn Telugu with Fexingo! Episode 124. I'm Lucas. Luna: And I'm Luna! So Lucas, I've been thinking — we've learned so many practical phrases for markets, cafes, the zoo... Lucas: Yeah, we've covered a lot of ground. But there's one place I think we should visit. Luna: Oh yeah? Where? Lucas: A temple. A గుడి. Many visitors to Andhra or Telangana go to temples, and it's good to know a few simple phrases. Luna: That's a great idea. I'd love to learn how to ask about timings and offer a prayer. Lucas: Exactly. So let's start with the first phrase. To ask 'When does the temple open?' you say: గుడి ఎప్పుడు తెరుస్తారు? Luna: గుడి ఎప్పుడు తెరుస్తారు? Lucas: Perfect. గుడి means temple, ఎప్పుడు means when, and తెరుస్తారు means open. Let's break it down slowly: గుడి ఎప్పుడు తెరుస్తారు? Luna: గుడి... ఎప్పుడు... తెరుస్తారు? Lucas: Yes! You got it. Now imagine you're at a temple gate and you want to know the opening time. You'd ask: గుడి ఎప్పుడు తెరుస్తారు? Luna: గుడి ఎప్పుడు తెరుస్తారు? Lucas: Great. Now the next phrase. If you want to say 'I want to pray to God,' you say: నాకు దేవుడికి మొక్కాలి. Luna: నాకు దేవుడికి మొక్కాలి. That's a mouthful. Lucas: It is. Let's take it piece by piece. నాకు means 'to me' or 'I want'. దేవుడికి means 'to God'. మొక్కాలి means 'to pray'. So: నాకు దేవుడికి మొక్కాలి. Luna: నాకు దేవుడికి మొక్కాలి. Lucas: That was really good. One more time: నాకు దేవుడికి మొక్కాలి. Luna: నాకు దేవుడికి మొక్కాలి. Lucas: Excellent. Now, after praying, you might want to say 'May God bless you.' That is: భగవంతుడు ఆశీర్వదించాలి. Luna: భగవంతుడు ఆశీర్వదించాలి. Lucas: Yes. భగవంతుడు is God, and ఆశీర్వదించాలి means should bless. So: భగవంతుడు ఆశీర్వదించాలి. Luna: That's a beautiful phrase. భగవంతుడు ఆశీర్వదించాలి. Lucas: It is. And finally, a simple question: 'Where do you like?' As in, which temple do you prefer? You ask: నీకు ఎక్కడ ఇష్టం? Luna: నీకు ఎక్కడ ఇష్టం? Lucas: Perfect. నీకు means 'to you', ఎక్కడ means 'where', and ఇష్టం means 'like'. So: నీకు ఎక్కడ ఇష్టం? Luna: Let me try that again. నీకు ఎక్కడ ఇష్టం? Lucas: That's it. So today we have four phrases: గుడి ఎప్పుడు తెరుస్తారు, నాకు దేవుడికి మొక్కాలి, భగవంతుడు ఆశీర్వదించాలి, and నీకు ఎక్కడ ఇష్టం. Luna: Let me practice all of them. గుడి ఎప్పుడు తెరుస్తారు? నాకు దేవుడికి మొక్కాలి. భగవంతుడు ఆశీర్వదించాలి. నీకు ఎక్కడ ఇష్టం? Lucas: Wow, that was really smooth. You did great. Luna: Thanks! I think the repetition is paying off. Lucas: Absolutely. And you know, if Fexingo has been helping you make actual progress with this language, that's exactly what we're here for. Luna: Yeah, we love putting these episodes together. And if today was worth a coffee to you, that's the link — buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo. Lucas: Exactly. No pressure, just a small way to keep this going ad-free. Now, let's imagine a little scene. You're at a temple and you ask a local: గుడి ఎప్పుడు తెరుస్తారు? Luna: గుడి ఎప్పుడు తెరుస్తారు? Lucas: They reply: ఉదయం 8 గంటలకు. So, 'at 8 in the morning'. Then you say: నాకు దేవుడికి మొక్కాలి. Luna: నాకు దేవుడికి మొక్కాలి. Lucas: And after your prayer, you say: భగవంతుడు ఆశీర్వదించాలి. Luna: That's so nice. Lucas: And if you're with a friend, you can ask: నీకు ఎక్కడ ఇష్టం? Luna: నీకు ఎక్కడ ఇష్టం? Lucas: Yes. Practice these phrases, and you'll feel more confident at any temple visit. We'll be back with more Telugu soon. Luna: Until then, keep practicing. I know I will!
