- 0:21Speaker 2: the line right here.
- 0:28Speaker 1: Looney, keep it.
- 0:29Speaker 2: Left side, touchdown. Kyle Williams, touchdown. Amazing. Unbelievable. They put
- 0:53Speaker 2: in Williams.
- 0:54Speaker 1: Has to pull back.
- 0:55Speaker 2: And he scores a touchdown.
- 0:58Speaker 1: The 12th year defensive tackle.

- 1:55Speaker 1: we will be diving into the Buffalo Bills versus Baltimore
- 1:59Speaker 1: Ravens Week 8 matchup, a preview, breakdown, scheme, structure, player aspects,
- 2:06Speaker 1: coaching aspects, anything and everything that you need to know
- 2:09Speaker 1: to prepare you for this game that has essentially kind
- 2:14Speaker 1: of become a yearly tradition. At this point, the bills
- 2:16Speaker 1: and Ravens continuously find themselves playing each other, either in
- 2:19Speaker 1: the regular season and or the playoffs for the past
- 2:22Speaker 1: several years. And what we started to do this year
- 2:26Speaker 1: on the show, I pivoted to more film episodes, uh,
- 2:30Speaker 1: here on disguise coverage, breaking down certain aspects of the
- 2:33Speaker 1: team or certain sides of the ball players, anything like that,
- 2:36Speaker 1: but on certain weeks, bigger matchups, uh, or fun matchups
- 2:41Speaker 1: or ones that feature a team that has somebody who
- 2:46Speaker 1: covers them that I enjoy talking ball with and that
- 2:49Speaker 1: I enjoy having on the show. We pivot and we
- 2:52Speaker 1: do kind of go back to the old format a
- 2:54Speaker 1: little bit of breaking down the team matchup and what
- 2:58Speaker 1: to watch for like we have in years past. And
- 3:01Speaker 1: that is the occasion for this week. I'm not alone
- 3:04Speaker 1: here in this episode to talk about the Bills versus
- 3:08Speaker 1: Ravens in Week 8, having on, I don't know how
- 3:15Speaker 1: many appearances he's made at this point because he's been
- 3:18Speaker 1: here for several, several, several years. I see him in
- 3:23Speaker 1: the green screen. I want to make sure he's ready
- 3:25Speaker 1: before I bring him up. He is joining the stage, Mr.
- 3:29Speaker 1: Spencer Schultz of Baltimore Film Club. Breakdown lore. You can
- 3:36Speaker 1: find his work at the Baltimore Film Breakdown. Substack at BaltimoreFilmBreakdown.com.
- 3:41Speaker 1: I didn't realize you were going for the off-screen jump in.
- 3:44Speaker 1: I was like, uh-oh, he's got to grab something.
- 3:45Speaker 2: I was doing a Collinsworth slide in.
- 3:46Speaker 1: You nailed it. You nailed it. I screwed it up.
- 3:48Speaker 1: I appreciate you. This is.
- 3:49Speaker 2: I.
- 3:51Speaker 1: Was trying to think of it as I was stalling
- 3:54Speaker 1: and thinking in my head.
- 3:55Speaker 2: I know. I knew it was going to mess you up.
- 3:56Speaker 2: You could see me in the green room, and I
- 3:57Speaker 2: was like, oh, maybe... No, no, not that. I was
- 4:00Speaker 2: trying to think of what... I think this is maybe...
- 4:05Speaker 2: Your fourth time here? Yeah, I'd say fourth probably. It's definitely...
- 4:09Speaker 2: I would guess that the first time was perhaps when
- 4:13Speaker 2: the Ravens and Bills played in Baltimore. Maybe it was
- 4:16Speaker 2: at 2022.
- 4:17Speaker 1: The rain game?
- 4:17Speaker 2: The rain game, Bills come back. And then definitely playoff game.
- 4:23Speaker 2: Definitely week one last year. And if I had to guess,
- 4:27Speaker 2: that's it. This might be the fourth one on cover one.
- 4:30Speaker 2: Presented by OnePiePizza.com.
- 4:32Speaker 1: Oh, you nailed it. You nailed it. Doing good work.
- 4:35Speaker 1: I mean, you've been doing stuff for years, but got
- 4:38Speaker 1: rolling the sub stack now and garnering good attention, as
- 4:41Speaker 1: you do. You know football. You know the Ravens team
- 4:43Speaker 1: inside and out. I appreciate you taking the time to
- 4:46Speaker 1: join me. We'll dive right into it. I want to
- 4:49Speaker 1: get your thoughts on a couple things before we get
- 4:51Speaker 1: into the meat and the crux of the episode here.
- 4:55Speaker 1: The Baltimore Ravens, in case anybody does not know, new...
- 5:00Speaker 1: you know, kind of regime in place with a regime
- 5:03Speaker 1: change in the off season, long time head coach, Mr.
- 5:07Speaker 1: Harbaugh gone now in New York, Jesse Minter takes over.
- 5:12Speaker 1: I had Jesse Minter. I like, I think a lot
- 5:15Speaker 1: of fans did or folks did like on a short,
- 5:18Speaker 1: short list of potential head coaches. I liked what he
- 5:20Speaker 1: did with the chargers. I like what he was doing
- 5:22Speaker 1: schematically kind of who and what he was. I wanted
- 5:25Speaker 1: to change for the bills, defensive structure and identity. I
- 5:28Speaker 1: thought he could bring that. A lot of fun stuff
- 5:30Speaker 1: from Minter with the Chargers last year. A lot of
- 5:33Speaker 1: fun stuff from him in the preseason. Some fun stuff
- 5:37Speaker 1: throughout the first several games. Here we are now, you know,
- 5:41Speaker 1: off of a less than stellar performance, specifically in the
- 5:44Speaker 1: second half against the Bengals. What are your thoughts here on,
- 5:46Speaker 1: you know, kind of the early returns on Jesse Minter and,
- 5:50Speaker 1: you know, him kind of being at the helm, whether it's,
- 5:52Speaker 1: you know, as a head coach overall or what he's
- 5:55Speaker 1: meant defensively. Just kind of what are your thoughts on
- 5:57Speaker 1: him thus far?
- 5:59Speaker 2: I think I like the demeanor of Jesse Minter very
- 6:01Speaker 2: much so. That's the one thing I've spoken about on
- 6:04Speaker 2: my own ramblings that his consistency of personality is really
- 6:09Speaker 2: refreshing following what became a little bit of a tumultuous.
- 6:13Speaker 2: This is more like fan stuff, but it became a
- 6:15Speaker 2: little bit more tumultuous with John Harbaugh getting a little
- 6:18Speaker 2: bit antsy and ornery and any other A-words towards the
- 6:23Speaker 2: media and growing a little long in the tooth in Baltimore.
- 6:26Speaker 2: So Minter has a really... neutral, with a smile demeanor,
- 6:31Speaker 2: his tone of voice, his cadence, the way he speaks,
- 6:34Speaker 2: the way he conducts himself, how long his beard is,
- 6:37Speaker 2: how short his hair is cut, the twinkle in his eye,
- 6:40Speaker 2: the clothes he wears, all look the same and sound
- 6:43Speaker 2: the same every single day. He is someone that is
- 6:47Speaker 2: heavy on teaching. He is a teacher. He is like
- 6:51Speaker 2: the history teacher that you loved in high school. That
- 6:54Speaker 2: is what he feels like to me. For someone who's
- 6:57Speaker 2: the coach of grown men playing a children's game it's
- 7:01Speaker 2: heavy on teaching it's heavy on technique it's heavy on
- 7:04Speaker 2: consistency and consistency of personality and i've i've liked that
- 7:10Speaker 2: aspect of him pertaining to the stuff that matters between
- 7:12Speaker 2: the white lines we have seen him with some really
- 7:16Speaker 2: wicked sim pressures we've seen him with some really wicked
- 7:19Speaker 2: coverage rotations i would say Everybody talks about the Ravens.
- 7:24Speaker 2: If you're a Bills fan, you gather from the Ravens
- 7:26Speaker 2: what you might see on the Everything app, in Twitter, X,
- 7:29Speaker 2: whatever you want to call it. And you see some
- 7:32Speaker 2: national stuff. You have a couple guys you might like
- 7:34Speaker 2: that you follow. And the name of the game is
- 7:36Speaker 2: them blowing leads and all that stuff. It's been going
- 7:38Speaker 2: on for quite some time and a big reason why
- 7:40Speaker 2: they turned over from John Harbaugh. So him to have
- 7:42Speaker 2: that consistency of personality, I think, is refreshing there. I
- 7:46Speaker 2: think he's getting tried and true with some injuries. The
- 7:48Speaker 2: Ravens aren't the most injured team on earth. And woe
- 7:50Speaker 2: is me. It's the national football league. You're going to
- 7:52Speaker 2: get injured. You're going to get beaten up. You're getting
- 7:54Speaker 2: paid millions of dollars and you're going to have to, uh,
- 7:58Speaker 2: we got Luloff comedy is ornery and a word. I meant, uh,
- 8:00Speaker 2: what was I looking for? Do they call them in
- 8:02Speaker 2: the replacements? No, I was looking for why.
- 8:05Speaker 1: Are you, why are you there?
- 8:09Speaker 2: Uh, but ultimately I think Jesse Minter's consistency is, is there,
- 8:13Speaker 2: but they've made a big switch defensively to such a zone, uh,
- 8:18Speaker 2: zone match, heavy philosophy, scheme system. And a lot of
- 8:24Speaker 2: what we're seeing is the Ravens really want to funnel
- 8:29Speaker 2: you to throw the ball over their linebackers, heads and
- 8:32Speaker 2: hooks and underneath of their safeties who might be playing halves,
- 8:36Speaker 2: might be playing quarters, might be playing a closed variation
- 8:40Speaker 2: with a post safety. And if you can do it, which,
- 8:44Speaker 2: you know, Joe Burrow, the Bengals are being a little
- 8:48Speaker 2: weird in the first half, trying to go really vertical
- 8:50Speaker 2: on a defense that wants you to try to do that.
- 8:53Speaker 2: They stopped and they started targeting that area and Joe
- 8:55Speaker 2: Burrow can rip it there. So he tore them up
- 8:59Speaker 2: a bit in the second half doing so. Josh Allen
- 9:01Speaker 2: can certainly do it. And to me, the final stepping
- 9:04Speaker 2: stone is that when you're playing an offense that's capable
- 9:07Speaker 2: of taking what you're giving them, you have to go tackle.
- 9:10Speaker 2: You have to go end plays. You have to limit
- 9:12Speaker 2: the big plays after the catch. Some of those things
- 9:14Speaker 2: have been okay against the run for sure. You know,
- 9:18Speaker 2: it's nothing crazy there, but we've seen the Browns late
- 9:22Speaker 2: and then the Bengals in the second half again late
- 9:26Speaker 2: later be able to hit that area where he wants
- 9:29Speaker 2: you to have to throw the ball. That's the hard stuff.
- 9:31Speaker 2: The way that I personally evaluate like a college quarterback is.
- 9:36Speaker 2: If they are throwing over the middle of the field
- 9:38Speaker 2: with varying degrees of touch, can they throw a four-seam
- 9:40Speaker 2: fastball next to a linebacker and then pepper one over
- 9:45Speaker 2: him before a safety can go make a player hurt
- 9:46Speaker 2: my guy? Just because they're not asked to mean that
- 9:49Speaker 2: doesn't mean they can't necessarily. But overall, I think the
- 9:52Speaker 2: Ravens players are still trying to execute a little faster.
- 9:55Speaker 2: They're trying to process that so they can trigger on
- 9:58Speaker 2: it as it's happening. Yeah. when you play these better
- 10:00Speaker 2: quarterbacks Joe Burrow Josh Allen they're gonna play Trevor Lawrence
- 10:03Speaker 2: after that I know the Chargers are tough but Justin
- 10:06Speaker 2: Herbert certainly capable of doing that consistently well the Ravens
- 10:10Speaker 2: only played Dak Prescott really in their first six games
- 10:12Speaker 2: was the only I think veteran high processing quarterback that
- 10:15Speaker 2: can consistently target that area with those varying degrees of
- 10:18Speaker 2: touch so I think it's a nice test for the
- 10:21Speaker 2: Ravens to go have Deshaun Watson beat you late, Joe
- 10:24Speaker 2: Burrow to beat you late. You're going to have to
- 10:26Speaker 2: go play Josh Allen, who does it really well. And
- 10:29Speaker 2: you're going to have to see it earlier. You're going
- 10:30Speaker 2: to have to trust your keys and get to it.
- 10:33Speaker 2: So it's a test. It's a big test. And it's
- 10:35Speaker 2: going to show kind of, I think, do I have
- 10:37Speaker 2: the right guys in year one for Jesse Minter? Is
- 10:40Speaker 2: Malachi Stark's first round pick, is he triggering on it,
- 10:43Speaker 2: seeing it? and seeing it before it's there, like you
- 10:46Speaker 2: want a quarterback to do, you know, do I want
- 10:48Speaker 2: Roquan Smith who has a big cap hit? Is he,
- 10:51Speaker 2: is he making those windows as small as he could be?
- 10:54Speaker 2: Is Kyle Hamilton needing to play back more? Does that
- 10:57Speaker 2: mean that I need to get a different nickel or
- 10:58Speaker 2: they brought in Jalen Hawkins? They have Keandre Jackson, a
- 11:01Speaker 2: young player behind him. They signed another safety today, a
- 11:04Speaker 2: veteran and Rayshawn Jenkins. So do I have the right guys?
- 11:07Speaker 2: I'm going to give them more time. They're going to
- 11:09Speaker 2: have the hard tests against the good passers and the
- 11:11Speaker 2: good offenses that are on time. And, To me, that's
- 11:14Speaker 2: kind of where I'm at with Jesse Minter. I think
- 11:15Speaker 2: he's in an evaluation point. I like what I've seen.
- 11:17Speaker 2: I think the consistency is there. I think he's putting
- 11:20Speaker 2: guys in the spots. They just need to make the play.
- 11:25Speaker 1: Very fair. It's funny how several of your sentiments about Minter,
- 11:29Speaker 1: the roster, the execution pieces, everything echoes very similarly to
- 11:33Speaker 1: a lot of what we've seen from the Bills defense
- 11:35Speaker 1: and first year, well, new regime change defensively under Jim Leonard.
- 11:40Speaker 1: I wanted to grab this super chat. This is going
- 11:42Speaker 1: to tie into one of my points later, but all
- 11:44Speaker 1: super chats get brought up. Mac, I appreciate you very much.
- 11:48Speaker 1: The question is, what changes do you think we'll see
- 11:50Speaker 1: to the defense, Bill's defense versus the Ravens? And I
- 11:53Speaker 1: like the qualification here at the end. This is the
- 11:55Speaker 1: equivalent of about $ 12 in Columbia pesos. I appreciate you
- 11:57Speaker 1: for the clarification, but all super chats are appreciated. Thank
- 12:00Speaker 1: you for being here. Thank you for watching. Thank you
- 12:02Speaker 1: for the super chat. I am starring this. This will
- 12:04Speaker 1: tie into one of my points later. Yeah, it's funny. The,
- 12:09Speaker 1: the SIM pressure stuff. So the Ravens, They're sixth in
- 12:13Speaker 1: simulated pressure rate at 21.9% this year. But I was
- 12:18Speaker 1: going back and watching them. They have 23 total Sims
- 12:21Speaker 1: this year. They had 15 in the first three weeks
- 12:24Speaker 1: and only eight the next four. Now, sometimes the charting
- 12:27Speaker 1: of it can be a little wonky. But I wanted more,
- 12:31Speaker 1: especially because I liked how they were wielding them. Granted,
- 12:36Speaker 1: you know, I guess... how Daniel Jones and the Colts
- 12:38Speaker 1: are operating maybe might not be the best barometer, but
- 12:41Speaker 1: they had a beautiful one early on in, I think
- 12:46Speaker 1: maybe on the first drive against the Colts where it's
- 12:50Speaker 1: a zero, it's a zero Sam. And it's kind of
- 12:52Speaker 1: like they do their glitch blitz stuff. And instead of
- 12:54Speaker 1: dropping two in interior defensive lineman out, it's just one
- 12:57Speaker 1: plus Roquan. But the interior defensive lineman, they drop his
- 13:01Speaker 1: project Washington and he drops right as a low hole player.
- 13:04Speaker 1: And he almost has a pick. And I was like, ooh,
- 13:07Speaker 1: like starting out beautiful. And I expected to see more
- 13:09Speaker 1: of it. And I wanted to see more of it.
- 13:11Speaker 1: And they kind of sloughed off a little bit. So
- 13:13Speaker 1: I'm interested to see how much that plays a role.
- 13:16Speaker 1: Maybe that'll tie into one of our other matchup pieces.
- 13:18Speaker 1: One of the other matchup pieces that we might discuss
- 13:22Speaker 1: later in some capacity. There's some news today. There's been
- 13:26Speaker 1: news the past several weeks. Things have been kind of wonky.
- 13:29Speaker 1: Lamar Jackson. Do you think he plays this weekend? I thought...
- 13:35Speaker 1: I mean, granted, I'm not keyed in, including the Ravens,
- 13:38Speaker 1: as much as you are. I thought he would play
- 13:40Speaker 1: against Cincinnati. I remember thinking there was rumblings like, okay,
- 13:43Speaker 1: he'll come back against Cleveland. It should be okay. When
- 13:45Speaker 1: he didn't, I was like, okay, that makes sense. They're
- 13:47Speaker 1: saving him for Cincinnati. And then still nothing. Does he
- 13:50Speaker 1: come back this week? Does he come back this week
- 13:53Speaker 1: and it's because he's good to go? Or is it
- 13:55Speaker 1: because they faltered a little bit and this game maybe
- 13:58Speaker 1: means a little more now from an AFC conference standpoint?
- 14:02Speaker 1: What are your thoughts on Lamar? Do you think he
- 14:04Speaker 1: ends up playing this week? Where's your head at? Where's
- 14:06Speaker 1: your heart?
- 14:07Speaker 2: I don't know. I don't think many know. And the
- 14:11Speaker 2: reason I don't think many know is because Lamar Jackson
- 14:13Speaker 2: does not have a representation from David Mugata or from
- 14:18Speaker 2: Drew Rosenhouse or from athletes first or any of these
- 14:22Speaker 2: big agents. He has his own crew of a non
- 14:25Speaker 2: NFL PA certified, you know, advisors, agents, whatever he calls them.
- 14:29Speaker 2: But yeah, I don't think people know. I don't think
- 14:31Speaker 2: Ian Rapoport and Adam Schefter know because he doesn't have
- 14:36Speaker 2: someone that's in their circle, their web that enables them
- 14:38Speaker 2: to do these insider things. So what happens with Lamar
- 14:41Speaker 2: Jackson is they talk to somebody who might know a
- 14:44Speaker 2: bit and it's a big, it's a big talking point
- 14:47Speaker 2: and clickety clickety. And then they say something that something
- 14:51Speaker 2: might be 70% accurate, but more margin for error than typical.
- 14:56Speaker 2: I think Lamar Jackson is very private and a little sensey.
- 14:59Speaker 2: about his privacy. And so the Ravens really don't want
- 15:02Speaker 2: to give much to anyone. And so theories start to
- 15:05Speaker 2: then run wild, all these things. So Ian Rappaport went on,
- 15:08Speaker 2: for example, and said, well, it's not a low ankle
- 15:10Speaker 2: sprain or a high ankle sprain. So everyone said, Oh,
- 15:12Speaker 2: it's a medial ankle sprain. Lamar Jackson then does press availability.
- 15:16Speaker 2: I have not. So he's, he's missed it. I think
- 15:18Speaker 2: this is going to be the sixth. If he was
- 15:19Speaker 2: to not play in this game, this will be the
- 15:21Speaker 2: 16th regular season start, excuse me, regular or post-season start.
- 15:24Speaker 2: He has missed due to injury.
- 15:26Speaker 1: Hmm.
- 15:26Speaker 2: He's sat a couple times when they've clinched a one seed.
- 15:29Speaker 2: He missed a game because he tested positive for COVID.
- 15:31Speaker 2: So I think that puts him at 19 total. He
- 15:35Speaker 2: has started 118 total games. So in those little steds,
- 15:40Speaker 2: he hasn't been out for the season, things like that.
- 15:44Speaker 2: There's a lot of ambiguity. And because of that, I
- 15:46Speaker 2: think fans get pretty upset and want to know. Fantasy
- 15:49Speaker 2: football players want to know. Bills fans when they're playing
- 15:52Speaker 2: the Ravens would like to know. It's an interesting topic.
- 15:54Speaker 2: So then this big national– Thing happens, and what I
- 15:57Speaker 2: saw last week that was unfamiliar to me from my
- 16:00Speaker 2: spectator's view was him practicing limited all week and then
- 16:04Speaker 2: not playing, following, missing some games. He also went and
- 16:08Speaker 2: both Tyler Huntley and Lamar Jackson spoke at the podium,
- 16:11Speaker 2: which I cannot recall that happening during the week before
- 16:15Speaker 2: a game, so that was a little unique. Lamar came
- 16:17Speaker 2: out and said, I have a high ankle sprain. My
- 16:19Speaker 2: trainer told me I have a high ankle sprain, and
- 16:22Speaker 2: I'm not sure why Ian Rapoport said that, but I'm
- 16:23Speaker 2: going to go with what Adrian Dixon, our head athletic
- 16:26Speaker 2: trainer told me I have Ian Rappaport to then today said, um,
- 16:30Speaker 2: actually it's not a high ankle sprain. So I don't
- 16:34Speaker 2: really know what is going on with that, but Ian
- 16:37Speaker 2: is very sure that Lamar is, uh, not, not right
- 16:42Speaker 2: or something like that. So nonetheless, uh, do I think
- 16:46Speaker 2: he plays this weekend? To me, the Ravens play the
- 16:50Speaker 2: Jaguars next Thursday. Okay. And what Lamar said is I'm
- 16:54Speaker 2: in a lot of pain. And that's what he said
- 16:57Speaker 2: in that press availability. I'm in a lot of pain.
- 17:00Speaker 2: And if I'm in pain and I can't do the
- 17:01Speaker 2: things I do, then I think, you know, maybe my
- 17:05Speaker 2: backup quarterback should be the one doing it basically. And
- 17:09Speaker 2: him and him and Tyler Huntley have been playing together
- 17:10Speaker 2: a while, good friends. And I think there is a
- 17:12Speaker 2: little level of trust there that, you know, probably isn't primary,
- 17:15Speaker 2: but maybe ancillary to why Lamar might sometimes be like, Hey,
- 17:18Speaker 2: Snoop's got it. So with all that said, They play
- 17:22Speaker 2: the Jaguars four days after they play the Bills. I
- 17:24Speaker 2: don't know if he's had an ankle and he's kind
- 17:27Speaker 2: of 50-50. If you're really wanting him to play two
- 17:29Speaker 2: games in four days, the Ravens have lost to the
- 17:31Speaker 2: Browns and the Bengals consecutively. The Bills are going to
- 17:34Speaker 2: be favorites. The Bills are coming off of a bye.
- 17:35Speaker 2: The Bills are at home. And then you're going to
- 17:38Speaker 2: have to turn around and play a game four days later.
- 17:40Speaker 2: So to me, I would lean if I had to guess.
- 17:43Speaker 2: I am a betting man. But I would say I
- 17:46Speaker 2: would think we might see one more game of Tyler
- 17:48Speaker 2: Snoop Huntley in this one. If I had to guess,
- 17:52Speaker 2: I don't know. I don't think many people do, but
- 17:57Speaker 2: that's my guess.
- 17:58Speaker 1: I love that point about, well, I loved everything you said.
- 18:01Speaker 1: Cause I was very insightful. Um, but I love that
- 18:04Speaker 1: point about, yeah, like you're, and that's not even just
- 18:07Speaker 1: a Lamar thing. Like anybody, like if you're bringing somebody
- 18:09Speaker 1: back from injury and then you have a, you're on
- 18:11Speaker 1: a short week, the next week, it like the odds
- 18:15Speaker 1: of him playing both games are small. So like, what
- 18:17Speaker 1: are you going to do? that's not just for Lamar
- 18:19Speaker 1: it's for anybody you're not going to bring them back
- 18:21Speaker 1: for one week and then they got to play on
- 18:22Speaker 1: short rest so it's like okay we might as well
- 18:24Speaker 1: let him rest another week that's super muddy I love
- 18:27Speaker 1: the point about how hit the communication about his injury
- 18:32Speaker 1: and tying it back to because I know he doesn't
- 18:35Speaker 1: have an agent and I've never really like thought about
- 18:39Speaker 1: like the injury stuff it's like yeah well yeah because
- 18:40Speaker 1: he doesn't have somebody who's like beating the national reporters
- 18:44Speaker 1: and everything to be like, Hey, you know, say this
- 18:46Speaker 1: about my guy or like, Hey, like note this or
- 18:48Speaker 1: note that, um, really interesting points. I, I hope he plays, um,
- 18:54Speaker 1: as soon as possible. I, I think I've been pretty
- 18:57Speaker 1: open about this every time you've been on the show. Uh, I, I've,
- 19:01Speaker 1: I enjoy the Ravens team and franchise, uh, very thoroughly.
- 19:04Speaker 1: Ed Reed is my favorite player of all time. I
- 19:07Speaker 1: love Terrell Suggs. Uh, I, you know, I enjoy the
- 19:10Speaker 1: Ravens a lot. And Lamar is one of my favorite
- 19:12Speaker 1: players in the league and football is better when he's
- 19:15Speaker 1: healthy and him versus Allen has always been super fun.
- 19:19Speaker 1: You know, all, all due respect to Huntley who has
- 19:21Speaker 1: his moments where it's like, man, could this dude be something? Um,
- 19:25Speaker 1: but yeah, Lamar is sick. I hope he plays at
- 19:27Speaker 1: some point. I hope he just gets healthy, gets right. Um,
- 19:30Speaker 1: especially with how electric he is and It's, it's, it's
- 19:34Speaker 1: a shame because especially these first several games this year,
- 19:36Speaker 1: I know in preparing, like starting to watch the tape
- 19:39Speaker 1: this week, I was going back and watching different things. And,
- 19:42Speaker 1: but man, those first several games, he was on corking
- 19:44Speaker 1: some throws, man, like some layering, some throws over the middle.
- 19:47Speaker 1: He was seeing the field. Well, he was moving well.
- 19:50Speaker 1: um yeah so it'll be nice to see him come
- 19:53Speaker 1: back whenever he does come back we are going to
- 19:57Speaker 1: now move to the crux of this episode where spence
- 20:02Speaker 1: and i go inside the buffalo bills versus baltimore ravens
- 20:05Speaker 1: Week 8 matchup with a preview and detailed breakdown. For
- 20:08Speaker 1: those who don't know, myself and Spence will each go
- 20:11Speaker 1: back and forth giving our top three things to watch
- 20:15Speaker 1: for in this game that will decide this game. It
- 20:17Speaker 1: could be super niche down. It could be large scale.
- 20:21Speaker 1: Anything and everything. I don't know his answers. He does
- 20:24Speaker 1: not know mine. We're completely blind to each other's answers.
- 20:27Speaker 1: So we could have the exact same thing. We could
- 20:28Speaker 1: be polar opposites. We have no idea. For those of
- 20:32Speaker 1: you joining us live and playing at home, Feel free
- 20:34Speaker 1: to put your answers into the chat and or comment
- 20:38Speaker 1: on ours. If you are watching posts live on YouTube,
- 20:42Speaker 1: feel free to put anything into the comments, get asked
- 20:44Speaker 1: on socials, anything and everything, questions, thoughts, comments, concerns. Feel
- 20:47Speaker 1: free to put that up into the live chat as well.
- 20:49Speaker 1: I like to make the show as engaging as possible. Spence,
- 20:52Speaker 1: you are the guest. So I'm going to give you
- 20:55Speaker 1: the floor first. I don't know if you have these ranked,
- 20:57Speaker 1: if you have them like three, two, one, one, two, three,
- 20:59Speaker 1: if they're all equal, if you want to go with
- 21:01Speaker 1: one over the other, but the floor is yours. Feel
- 21:04Speaker 1: free to give me your first talking point when it
- 21:06Speaker 1: comes to going inside Bills versus Ravens.
- 21:08Speaker 2: Yeah, I think it is Bills' defensive front that has
- 21:13Speaker 2: the biggest improved player or ascending star, I would say,
- 21:21Speaker 2: right now across any defensive front in the NFL right now.
- 21:24Speaker 2: And Deion Walker, Greg Rousseau continuing to just blossom year
- 21:28Speaker 2: over year with his incredible frame and athleticism and power.
- 21:33Speaker 2: I think this Bill's front is about as good as
- 21:35Speaker 2: a front as they've had in four years to me, three,
- 21:40Speaker 2: four years getting after it. And a lot of that
- 21:42Speaker 2: Dion Walker and Greg Rousseau. So the Ravens conversely have
- 21:47Speaker 2: probably underinvested in their offensive line. They try to right
- 21:51Speaker 2: their wrongs. They draft Vega. You want a first round,
- 21:53Speaker 2: very highly touted and highly selected guard with the 14th
- 21:58Speaker 2: overall pick in the NFL draft. He ends up, playing
- 22:02Speaker 2: center this year for them because the Ravens lost their,
- 22:05Speaker 2: they lost Tyler Linderbaum in free agency, which I don't
- 22:07Speaker 2: think they anticipated. So then they brought in Danny Pinter,
- 22:10Speaker 2: who's a longtime backup that had been with their offensive
- 22:13Speaker 2: line coach, Dwayne Ledford. They also signed Ethan Posick. They
- 22:17Speaker 2: also have Jonathan Gwynn, another Ledford guy who fits like
- 22:21Speaker 2: a wide zone boot scheme. And they end up losing
- 22:24Speaker 2: Pinter before the season starts. They lose Gwynn. couple weeks
- 22:28Speaker 2: in and in the same game they lose post six
- 22:30Speaker 2: so their emergency center was none other than vega yuane
- 22:33Speaker 2: who snapped the ball 17 times in his three years
- 22:36Speaker 2: at penn state he actually filled in there very admirably
- 22:40Speaker 2: and probably played higher level center than give him a
- 22:44Speaker 2: little bit of time there he might look better than
- 22:45Speaker 2: tyler linderbaum did but it he was beastly there considering
- 22:50Speaker 2: all things considered he was excellent And so they go
- 22:53Speaker 2: make a trade for Cam Juergens, the Philadelphia replacement for
- 22:56Speaker 2: Jason Kelsey, who then had to play out of position
- 22:58Speaker 2: because of an injury to Landon Dickerson this year. So
- 23:00Speaker 2: the Ravens spend more draft capital than I think any
- 23:03Speaker 2: team has ever sent for an interior offensive lineman, a
- 23:05Speaker 2: second and a fifth to the Eagles for a player
- 23:07Speaker 2: that's on a cheap, affordable, controlled contract. They bring Cam
- 23:11Speaker 2: Juergens in while he was in concussion protocol. He was
- 23:13Speaker 2: able to get his first start under his belt for
- 23:15Speaker 2: the Ravens against none other than Dexter Lawrence, who My
- 23:18Speaker 2: money is the best nose tackle I've ever seen in
- 23:20Speaker 2: my entire conscious football life. And then Vega Ioane goes
- 23:25Speaker 2: down as soon as they get a center that is
- 23:28Speaker 2: a normal natural center. And so now Vega Ioane will
- 23:31Speaker 2: be out. He will be missing in this game. They
- 23:33Speaker 2: also have been without their backup right guard in Andrew Voorhees,
- 23:37Speaker 2: who was a USC standout that suffered an ACL at
- 23:41Speaker 2: the combine. The Ravens took a flyer on him and
- 23:43Speaker 2: he was able to give them some snaps and So
- 23:45Speaker 2: now the Ravens are starting their fifth center, who is
- 23:47Speaker 2: a natural center. They'll be starting their third right guard
- 23:51Speaker 2: in Emery Jones, who's really struggled. John Simpson, who the
- 23:56Speaker 2: Ravens signed this year, is the other guard. And he
- 23:59Speaker 2: is a nice stopgap player. I think he's a nice
- 24:00Speaker 2: role player. If he's your fourth or fifth, that's okay.
- 24:04Speaker 2: And best lineman on your line, that's okay. So because
- 24:08Speaker 2: of this kind of shuffling, I think the Ravens have
- 24:10Speaker 2: had 19 different combinations across their five now. And you're
- 24:14Speaker 2: going to have Dion Walker and Greg Rousseau and some
- 24:17Speaker 2: of these big, beastly, powerful Bills defensive linemen who can
- 24:21Speaker 2: kind of two gap or shoot gaps. And it's a
- 24:26Speaker 2: tough task. The Ravens have had a success rate below
- 24:29Speaker 2: 25 percent running the football in each of their last
- 24:32Speaker 2: two games. So Snoop Huntley, a little challenge to throw
- 24:35Speaker 2: the ball downfield. pass pro holder topic I haven't even
- 24:39Speaker 2: gotten into. And I think that's the matchup I'm looking at.
- 24:42Speaker 2: Can the Ravens figure out a way to make Dion
- 24:44Speaker 2: Walker not look like Godzilla?
- 24:47Speaker 1: I like the way you phrased that. I came close
- 24:49Speaker 1: to putting this one up there. It just with, you know,
- 24:53Speaker 1: I was watching Ravens bangles live on Sunday. I see
- 24:58Speaker 1: how I want to go down. And I was like, Oh,
- 25:01Speaker 1: like right after you kind of just have started to
- 25:04Speaker 1: solidify things a little bit. Like he goes down, Um,
- 25:08Speaker 1: I also thought it was funny on the broadcast. They
- 25:10Speaker 1: kept like, I feel like they kept reversing his name.
- 25:12Speaker 1: They kept calling him Vega as if like Vega was
- 25:14Speaker 1: the last name. And I was like, I don't think
- 25:15Speaker 1: you guys are doing this correctly. Um, but he like,
- 25:19Speaker 1: he was so fun at Penn state with how physical
- 25:22Speaker 1: and athletic he was. And when the Ravens got him,
- 25:24Speaker 1: I was like, Ooh, that's like that, that, that can
- 25:26Speaker 1: be a really fun fit, especially with this run game. Um,
- 25:29Speaker 1: but yeah, they've been banged up. I feel like Ronnie
- 25:31Speaker 1: Stanley is always like a coin toss on whether or
- 25:34Speaker 1: not he's going to get hurt at some point and
- 25:36Speaker 1: like mis-extended time or like a small amount of time
- 25:39Speaker 1: when he's in there, he's good, but he's always like
- 25:42Speaker 1: a wild card of sorts. I feel like for health
- 25:44Speaker 1: and this Ravens specifically the run game every year that
- 25:49Speaker 1: they play the bills, even when the bills have beaten them,
- 25:52Speaker 1: they just gash the bills over and over. Oh, well, no,
- 25:57Speaker 1: I'm thinking, um, When, whatever, Baltimore kicked the hell out
- 26:02Speaker 1: of the Bills.
- 26:03Speaker 2: Ravens, it was the regular, it was the Ravens. A
- 26:06Speaker 2: couple years ago. Was it a home opener? No, it
- 26:09Speaker 2: wasn't a home opener. It was Monday Night Football, I believe, 2024. Yes.
- 26:14Speaker 2: Week five, maybe week six.
- 26:16Speaker 1: I think on the first drive, the Ravens ran crunch,
- 26:18Speaker 1: and Derrick Henry housed it for a 60-something yard touchdown.
- 26:21Speaker 2: Yeah, he had an 83-yard touchdown, yep.
- 26:23Speaker 1: Yeah, it was a big touchdown.
- 26:25Speaker 2: Derrick Henry's first season, which was three years ago, was 2024, yep.
- 26:28Speaker 1: Yes, good call. So it, but even in like defeat,
- 26:32Speaker 1: the playoff game a couple of years ago, the regular,
- 26:35Speaker 1: the season opener for both teams last year, they've largely
- 26:38Speaker 1: had their way with the bills run defense and the
- 26:41Speaker 1: bills run defense has been porous. And then the Ravens
- 26:43Speaker 1: run game is good and unique. So they kinda, it's
- 26:45Speaker 1: not a great matchup for the bills defense or most teams.
- 26:48Speaker 1: And so, yeah, I go into this one and I'm like, okay,
- 26:52Speaker 1: their line is banged up a bit. The running success
- 26:56Speaker 1: hasn't really been there. I know the bangles, I mean,
- 26:59Speaker 1: the Bengals have really redefined their front this year with
- 27:03Speaker 1: all the moves they made. You shouted out Dexter Lawrence already,
- 27:05Speaker 1: who's playing like a world beater. It felt like watching
- 27:09Speaker 1: the Ravens in that game against the Bengals, they were
- 27:11Speaker 1: just running into a brick wall over and over and
- 27:13Speaker 1: over again. And I know the Bills don't have anybody
- 27:15Speaker 1: as stout as Lawrence. Even Walker, when he's playing like Godzilla,
- 27:18Speaker 1: he's still playing more of a penetrator game. And he'll
- 27:21Speaker 1: grab somebody and chuck them down. But Lawrence is very
- 27:23Speaker 1: much like, hey, I'm going to sit here. Good luck
- 27:25Speaker 1: trying to move me. And then I can do a
- 27:27Speaker 1: whole bunch of other things on top of it. And
- 27:30Speaker 1: so I came into this one, yeah, like, can they
- 27:32Speaker 1: people move the Bills? Do they try to people move
- 27:36Speaker 1: the Bills? Do they, like, can they get Henry to
- 27:39Speaker 1: the perimeter? How do they hold up in pass pro?
- 27:43Speaker 1: Rousseau has been a nice story. He slowed down the
- 27:46Speaker 1: past three games versus all the production he had in
- 27:48Speaker 1: the first three. Walker has been really fun. But then
- 27:52Speaker 1: even everything in totality, like heading into the bye, this
- 27:55Speaker 1: group for the Buffalo Bills, 26th, As a defense, 26th
- 27:59Speaker 1: in sack rate, 24th in pressure rate, 25th in time
- 28:03Speaker 1: to pressure, 31st in quick pressure rate. This was a
- 28:08Speaker 1: group that started out super hot. A lot of the
- 28:10Speaker 1: production coming from Rousseau and Walker and getting some other guys.
- 28:13Speaker 1: They've kind of cooled a little bit. Kirk Cousins having
- 28:17Speaker 1: some time to throw, and even when they are getting pressure,
- 28:19Speaker 1: it's usually coming later in the quarterback clock as opposed to, again,
- 28:24Speaker 1: that quick pressure rate and time to pressure, both of
- 28:27Speaker 1: those being lower. And I wonder for a banged-up offensive
- 28:31Speaker 1: line that has had success against you as a franchise
- 28:35Speaker 1: in previous years, does that start to turn a little
- 28:36Speaker 1: this year? Can the Bills stay stout? Can they get
- 28:39Speaker 1: pressure against somewhat of a wounded, banged-up group whose guys
- 28:43Speaker 1: that are even starting are kind of, yeah, more depth
- 28:46Speaker 1: guys as they try to wiggle and figure things out?
- 28:49Speaker 1: So I came close to putting that one on my docket.
- 28:53Speaker 1: That was my– I'm trying to think of the March
- 28:55Speaker 1: Madness term. That was my last one out. the last
- 28:59Speaker 1: team did not make the bracket. That would have been.
- 29:01Speaker 1: So my 65th team, or I don't know how many
- 29:03Speaker 1: teams there are now where there's like a thousand teams
- 29:05Speaker 1: that just like the, the football playoff where they're adding
- 29:08Speaker 1: more teams every, every single year, but whatever conversation from
- 29:11Speaker 1: another time, I'm going to stay, I'm going to stay
- 29:16Speaker 1: on the Ravens offensive side. And, uh, I just titled
- 29:21Speaker 1: this one who stops Zay flowers. So Zay flowers, uh,
- 29:28Speaker 1: Kind of a Bills fan favorite. There were a lot of,
- 29:30Speaker 1: a lot of, a lot of Bills fans who wanted
- 29:32Speaker 1: Zay Flowers coming out of Boston College. I think a
- 29:33Speaker 1: lot of folks did. Fun, shifty, electric, downfield speed, athletic,
- 29:38Speaker 1: give him the ball at the line. of scrimmage watch
- 29:40Speaker 1: him go chuck him the ball downfield watch him go
- 29:43Speaker 1: get it does a lot of fun stuff this year
- 29:46Speaker 1: Zay Flowers out of 90 qualifying wide receivers he's third
- 29:51Speaker 1: in targets per route run he's fourth in target share
- 29:54Speaker 1: he's fourth in receiving yards he's first in yards per
- 29:57Speaker 1: route run at 3.73 He's fourth in yards after catch
- 30:02Speaker 1: per reception at 7.78. He's sixth in target success rate,
- 30:07Speaker 1: 11th in EPA per target, and seventh in receptions. Even
- 30:12Speaker 1: with Lamar going down, Huntley has found him. I thought
- 30:15Speaker 1: Declan Doyle did a great job in the first half
- 30:17Speaker 1: against the Bengals of getting him involved in a multitude
- 30:20Speaker 1: of ways. Screens around the line of scrimmage, some stuff underneath,
- 30:24Speaker 1: hitting him on some stuff in the intermediate on a
- 30:25Speaker 1: couple third and longs, and Zay kind of– doing some
- 30:30Speaker 1: stuff after the catch there. Bateman had another nice third
- 30:32Speaker 1: and long as well, but Zay Flowers this year has
- 30:35Speaker 1: looked whenever he gets the ball. And even when he's
- 30:40Speaker 1: like moving without it, I guess, and his stems releases everything.
- 30:43Speaker 1: He looks like the most dangerous player on the field.
- 30:46Speaker 1: Like he just looks so he's doing the dead leg
- 30:50Speaker 1: and kind of waiting. And then he picks it back
- 30:52Speaker 1: up and he's just ghosting guys in, in a heartbeat.
- 30:55Speaker 1: He's going up and making plays at the catch point.
- 30:57Speaker 1: I'm thinking back to the, um, the catch against Atlanta
- 31:02Speaker 1: down late in the fourth quarter on first and 20,
- 31:04Speaker 1: where he, you know, scramble drill, he gets open multiple times,
- 31:07Speaker 1: Huntley throws it up and he goes up, makes the
- 31:09Speaker 1: play at the catch point against Xavier Watts while he's
- 31:12Speaker 1: getting interfered with. So he's playing big at the catch point.
- 31:15Speaker 1: Plus he's doing all the jitterbug electric stuff on top
- 31:17Speaker 1: of it. He's really, I think he's been a good
- 31:20Speaker 1: player for a while. I think he's ascended further this year.
- 31:24Speaker 1: As RJ says, I don't care what Ravens fans say,
- 31:27Speaker 1: Zay Flowers is an elite wide receiver one. He has
- 31:29Speaker 1: one of the best separation stats in the game. So
- 31:31Speaker 1: a nice positive thing from a Bills fan there, but yeah,
- 31:35Speaker 1: the Bills defense has struggled in a multitude of ways,
- 31:38Speaker 1: especially in coverage. We saw their most recent game before
- 31:43Speaker 1: they went into the buy against the Raiders, different type
- 31:45Speaker 1: of task entirely, but the, you know, not a wide receiver,
- 31:48Speaker 1: but pass catching option one for the Ravens is, or
- 31:50Speaker 1: for the Raiders is Brock Bowers. Christian Benford traveled with
- 31:53Speaker 1: him on a multitude of reps all over the field. outside,
- 31:57Speaker 1: left and right, and even inside a little bit, attached
- 32:00Speaker 1: to the formation. Does anybody travel with Zay? Who do
- 32:04Speaker 1: they try to match him up with? He's a tough
- 32:06Speaker 1: guy to match up with because of how juiced up
- 32:08Speaker 1: he is, and you can play him anywhere. For a
- 32:11Speaker 1: Bills coverage group that's been questionable in the spine, the
- 32:15Speaker 1: linebackers and the safeties, is this a game where you
- 32:18Speaker 1: just put Zay Flowers as the number three and force
- 32:21Speaker 1: the Bills linebackers and safeties to try and match up
- 32:24Speaker 1: with him? and say, good luck, we don't think you
- 32:26Speaker 1: can do it. And then is he cooking linebackers and
- 32:28Speaker 1: second-level players like he was against Dallas early in the
- 32:31Speaker 1: year where he's just faking people left and right, and
- 32:33Speaker 1: here comes a whipper out, psych, here comes the fake whip,
- 32:35Speaker 1: and I'm actually going to run and drag across the middle.
- 32:38Speaker 1: He's just been so dangerous. He's looked like the most
- 32:40Speaker 1: dangerous player on the field. The Bills' pass coverage has
- 32:44Speaker 1: lacked communication. They have not been on the same page.
- 32:47Speaker 1: They've given up big plays. They've struggled mightily from a
- 32:52Speaker 1: playing– chemistry standpoint and whether it's Huntley whether it's Lamar
- 32:59Speaker 1: Zay has been extremely dangerous Doyle I think has done
- 33:02Speaker 1: a good job getting him involved in and this could
- 33:04Speaker 1: be a game where I'm trying to give him the
- 33:07Speaker 1: Puka Nakua treatment from the Rams game several weeks ago
- 33:09Speaker 1: where I'm like hey Zay here's like 20 something targets
- 33:12Speaker 1: and let's see if the Bills can.
- 33:13Speaker 2: Cover yeah a lot of great points there Flowers usage
- 33:19Speaker 2: with Ravens first year offensive coordinator the now 30 year
- 33:22Speaker 2: old Declan Doyle he's 30 He's 30 years old.
- 33:26Speaker 1: Man, he's a baby. That's crazy.
- 33:28Speaker 2: He's also deceivingly tall. If you look at him, you're like,
- 33:30Speaker 2: you're 5'10. He's like 6'3, and you're like, that's not right.
- 33:34Speaker 2: I don't trust you.
- 33:34Speaker 1: You're lying. He's tall.
- 33:36Speaker 2: So the biggest thing I see simply is that Zay
- 33:40Speaker 2: Flowers has taken more snaps out of the slot than
- 33:44Speaker 2: he has as a boundary or a number one to
- 33:47Speaker 2: the width of the field this year. That has not
- 33:51Speaker 2: happened before. in Baltimore with Zay Flowers. This year he's
- 33:54Speaker 2: taken 128 snaps out of the slot, 121 wide, and
- 34:00Speaker 2: he has taken at least 19, pardon me, at least
- 34:05Speaker 2: 11 snaps out of the slot in every game he
- 34:07Speaker 2: got an injury. At least 15 snaps out of the
- 34:09Speaker 2: slot since he returned from injury. He left that Colts
- 34:12Speaker 2: game in week one, a little injury. He had a
- 34:14Speaker 2: little bit more slot snaps. So since returning, he has
- 34:16Speaker 2: had one game where he had 12 more out wide.
- 34:20Speaker 2: A lot of what the Ravens want to do is
- 34:22Speaker 2: align him in trips, like you mentioned, and they want
- 34:24Speaker 2: to– one of Declan Doyle's favorites is to make the
- 34:29Speaker 2: number three the number one or bring somebody from the
- 34:31Speaker 2: other side of the field to the new number one
- 34:33Speaker 2: and turning Zay Flowers into the number three. When you
- 34:35Speaker 2: turn someone into the number three, fast with fast motion,
- 34:39Speaker 2: that usually puts them on a safety or a linebacker.
- 34:41Speaker 2: And then what I've seen out of Zay Flowers has
- 34:44Speaker 2: been so much– less fat on his routes.
- 34:51Speaker 1: Oh, that's a really good way to play it.
- 34:53Speaker 2: The nuance, the minimal amount of steps, the maximizing his
- 34:59Speaker 2: kind of ankle flexion or how much he's just simply
- 35:03Speaker 2: turning and digging his cleats to work back to the ball,
- 35:06Speaker 2: to get upfield, to square, to get to his spot
- 35:09Speaker 2: has been as good as anyone in football, in my opinion.
- 35:14Speaker 2: I know there's a comment in here. RJ Melville eight says,
- 35:18Speaker 2: I don't care what Ravens fans say. Zay Flowers is
- 35:20Speaker 2: an elite wide receiver. One, he has the best separation
- 35:22Speaker 2: stats in the game. And right. You mentioned Puka, like
- 35:25Speaker 2: Jamar chase, the Ravens saw last week, gave him some
- 35:27Speaker 2: trouble in today's NFL with, without any rule changes happening
- 35:33Speaker 2: in a few years, we're seeing a little bit more.
- 35:36Speaker 2: It's not as crazy as people think, but a little
- 35:38Speaker 2: bit more of those kind of softer, too high or
- 35:40Speaker 2: middle of the field, open concepts, a little more coverage
- 35:43Speaker 2: defenders underneath. Teams want to limit the over the top shot.
- 35:46Speaker 2: The deep ball is not in vogue right now because
- 35:48Speaker 2: of what defenses have been doing. So the response to
- 35:51Speaker 2: that is, all right, let's get our best guy on
- 35:53Speaker 2: their worst coverage guy that we can possibly get him
- 35:55Speaker 2: with a matched up with through scheme. So Raven's a
- 35:58Speaker 2: little late to that party with flowers. I think his
- 36:01Speaker 2: focus and his off season training and his attention to detail.
- 36:05Speaker 2: And like you said, the ability for him to run
- 36:09Speaker 2: these crossers where it's a fast bump out that causes
- 36:12Speaker 2: a In this scenario, it might be one of those–
- 36:17Speaker 2: what is it? Bernard and– oh, my God, who's the
- 36:19Speaker 2: other Bills?
- 36:20Speaker 1: Dorian Williams.
- 36:21Speaker 2: Dorian Williams, there we go. If it's Dorian Williams and Bernard,
- 36:23Speaker 2: all of a sudden it's fast and they've got to
- 36:25Speaker 2: try and carry him across the field, that's tough. And
- 36:27Speaker 2: those two can both run and they're long and they've
- 36:29Speaker 2: got some good things going. But it's mental quickness that
- 36:32Speaker 2: being able to see that process and understand what they're doing.
- 36:34Speaker 2: But then, oh, all of a sudden everyone else is
- 36:36Speaker 2: cleared out. I'm ready to turn my hips to run
- 36:37Speaker 2: with a crosser. And Zay Flowers has perfectly, at 5'9,
- 36:40Speaker 2: re-squared and is breaking back out to the sideline. It's
- 36:43Speaker 2: really hard to cover. So he's been elite. I think
- 36:46Speaker 2: he has been a definite absolute wide receiver one this season.
- 36:50Speaker 2: He's looked fantastic. He doesn't lack. He lacked. The only
- 36:52Speaker 2: thing he really lacks is an aerial aspect to his game.
- 36:54Speaker 2: I'd say there's not, you know, go throw it up
- 36:57Speaker 2: and he's going to go George pick in CD lamb.
- 36:59Speaker 2: Like we saw on Monday night football, able to go
- 37:01Speaker 2: snag balls outside of his frame consistently in the red area.
- 37:04Speaker 2: He can do everything else for you. So he's been tough.
- 37:07Speaker 2: He's been, he's also had a really positive attitude and,
- 37:09Speaker 2: Ravens have been a little downtrodden with some bad body language.
- 37:12Speaker 2: It's not safe flowers. He has some diamond fronts he
- 37:15Speaker 2: likes to wear in games, and he likes to let
- 37:17Speaker 2: you see him. He likes to smile. He likes to
- 37:19Speaker 2: be happy about it. He likes to make plays. He
- 37:21Speaker 2: doesn't matter. He doesn't care who's playing quarterback. He's helping
- 37:23Speaker 2: his quarterback out. For a little guy, I have never
- 37:27Speaker 2: seen someone who is under like 5'11, ever, work back
- 37:30Speaker 2: to the ball better. Man, he had on that, that
- 37:36Speaker 2: first line back to the ball. Yeah.
- 37:37Speaker 1: He had that on that first third and long, they
- 37:39Speaker 1: converted against the Bengals in the first half where he
- 37:41Speaker 1: comes back and he splits the two defenders. And then
- 37:44Speaker 1: he gets like six yards after the catch on like
- 37:46Speaker 1: a third and 19. Yeah. He just, he fights for
- 37:49Speaker 1: the ball and snatches it.
- 37:50Speaker 2: He has been working back to help the quarterback, to
- 37:53Speaker 2: be friendly to the quarterback as well as I've ever
- 37:55Speaker 2: seen a smaller stature receiver. He is sprinting like a
- 37:58Speaker 2: center fielder, trying to get a shallow fly ball on
- 38:01Speaker 2: his high horse to advance back towards the the quarterback.
- 38:04Speaker 2: So that's been super fun to watch. He's been dynamic
- 38:07Speaker 2: after the catch better than ever. I mean, the screen
- 38:09Speaker 2: he housed against the Bengals last week, no one could
- 38:11Speaker 2: even put a ball on him. He looks like the
- 38:14Speaker 2: most untouchable player on the field or the, the quickest
- 38:17Speaker 2: or most agile or just spatially aware player on the field. Every,
- 38:21Speaker 2: every time he has the ball in the open field
- 38:22Speaker 2: this season, it's been really fun to watch. So I
- 38:24Speaker 2: think it's a tough task. You mentioned Benford traveling, but
- 38:27Speaker 2: Ravens are going to, are going to pressure test that
- 38:29Speaker 2: because there's gonna be fast motions changing the note, you know,
- 38:32Speaker 2: who's number one, number two, and number three. and they're
- 38:35Speaker 2: going to test the rules of coverage with it. So,
- 38:37Speaker 2: you know, the Bills had a bye week to try
- 38:39Speaker 2: and bait some throws and maybe have some backside defenders
- 38:43Speaker 2: away from that. If you see motion fast one way,
- 38:45Speaker 2: maybe have a nickel or something else or an end,
- 38:48Speaker 2: drop back and see if you can undercut one of
- 38:49Speaker 2: those from the backside and deter the Ravens from doing it.
- 38:53Speaker 2: That's what I'd be trying to cook up if I was,
- 38:55Speaker 2: you know, sitting back with an extra week's rest here.
- 38:57Speaker 1: Yeah, and for a Bills defense that has, you know,
- 39:01Speaker 1: had miscommunication, they've been frantic defensively, and literally up to
- 39:04Speaker 1: the snap in their adjustments and on the field, changing
- 39:09Speaker 1: the picture offensively at the last minute, and then doing
- 39:12Speaker 1: it with literal speed on top of it in terms
- 39:15Speaker 1: of the players that are moving. I like that recipe
- 39:18Speaker 1: a lot, and yeah, I'm going to move Flowers around.
- 39:22Speaker 1: I even put him in the backfield and do some
- 39:23Speaker 1: fun stuff like they have at times. I'll get him
- 39:25Speaker 1: some manufactured touches as well, but I'm getting him as
- 39:27Speaker 1: that number three, and I'm saying hey, let's find your
- 39:32Speaker 1: guys in between the hashes. Who's going to cover this guy?
- 39:35Speaker 1: How are you going to allocate resources to him? Because
- 39:37Speaker 1: I think it's going to be a problem and could
- 39:40Speaker 1: be some potential fireworks for Mr. Zay Flowers. All right,
- 39:43Speaker 1: we've each given our ones, or our first points, I
- 39:46Speaker 1: should say, What do you got for your second point here?
- 39:51Speaker 2: Can anybody tackle Josh Allen? Okay. Can anybody go get
- 39:56Speaker 2: Josh Allen and bring him down right now? The Ravens
- 40:00Speaker 2: missed four tackles last week against the Bengals. Jamar Chase,
- 40:04Speaker 2: a super strong athlete. Josh Allen, a super strong athlete.
- 40:10Speaker 2: And man, I'm watching him against the Rams. I'm watching
- 40:14Speaker 2: him against the Raiders and Suddenly, you know, you're sitting
- 40:18Speaker 2: back playing man or playing in the Ravens case is
- 40:20Speaker 2: going to be zone. You're flat footed. He's got a
- 40:22Speaker 2: head of steam. And I don't know. I do have
- 40:26Speaker 2: my theories on how to relatively contain Josh Allen as
- 40:30Speaker 2: Ravens and Bills have gone back and forth. I think
- 40:32Speaker 2: he bananas to his throwing side more elusively than anyone
- 40:37Speaker 2: else I've really seen with any size. He is always
- 40:41Speaker 2: just fast enough. and you cannot try and pursue his
- 40:46Speaker 2: back hip like you're supposed to. You need to go
- 40:48Speaker 2: cut him off and get his feet to stop moving
- 40:51Speaker 2: if you can get him to roll right. Otherwise, he
- 40:53Speaker 2: will outrun you, he will re-square, and he has an
- 40:57Speaker 2: absolute AC-130 for an arm that he can spray wherever
- 41:01Speaker 2: he wants. So as soon as he starts to move
- 41:04Speaker 2: backwards towards his arm side, get upfield towards the line
- 41:08Speaker 2: of scrimmage, I would rather that than let him re-approach
- 41:11Speaker 2: the line of scrimmage with a head of steam on
- 41:12Speaker 2: that side. So that's my theory that I've seen executed
- 41:16Speaker 2: well one time. And it was the one time the
- 41:18Speaker 2: Ravens gave him a ton of trouble on that Monday
- 41:20Speaker 2: night game. But yeah, other than that, I mean, it's
- 41:24Speaker 2: more so dangerous when he is moving at the line
- 41:28Speaker 2: of scrimmage somewhere between the numbers to me and he's
- 41:31Speaker 2: getting a little pump going, his eyes are moving around
- 41:33Speaker 2: and he's getting some momentum. And right now, I mean, he's,
- 41:36Speaker 2: about as dangerous a runner with the football as there
- 41:38Speaker 2: is in the NFL. More than that, James Cook, Khalil Shakir,
- 41:42Speaker 2: tackle breakers that find a way out and find a
- 41:46Speaker 2: way to get more yards after the catch. So I'm
- 41:48Speaker 2: looking at those kind of three guys, mainly Josh Allen.
- 41:51Speaker 2: We've seen a Ravens game come down to that rain
- 41:56Speaker 2: game we mentioned. Maybe it was 2022. They naked booted
- 42:00Speaker 2: Josh Allen, and maybe it was him himself. Maybe it
- 42:02Speaker 2: was a design, but they boot Josh Allen. Patrick Queen
- 42:04Speaker 2: tries to get on his hip pocket. He's just always a,
- 42:07Speaker 2: he's a fast enough to achieve his goal always. And
- 42:10Speaker 2: he's strong enough to achieve his goal always. So man,
- 42:14Speaker 2: when he gets rumbling, like he was against the Rams,
- 42:16Speaker 2: it was looking like, you know, I called Dion Walker, Godzilla.
- 42:20Speaker 2: I don't know what to call Josh Allen. There's a,
- 42:21Speaker 2: you know, a rhinoceros. I know they like to call
- 42:23Speaker 2: it looks a little bit more Rhino than Buffalo to me,
- 42:26Speaker 2: but obviously you guys like to call him the great
- 42:28Speaker 2: white Buffalo up there. And I, I see that for sure. So,
- 42:32Speaker 2: who's going to stick him. How are they going to get,
- 42:34Speaker 2: prevent him from getting going in the run game? I
- 42:36Speaker 2: know he's talked a little bit about his mechanics are
- 42:38Speaker 2: a little off. He had to revert back to a
- 42:41Speaker 2: prior motion. I know he's worked with what, um, Jordan Palmer,
- 42:45Speaker 2: Jesse Paul, Jordan Palmer, Jordan Palmer. So we're working with
- 42:48Speaker 2: Jesse's brother, Jordan. Um, and yeah, uh, talking about reverting back.
- 42:52Speaker 2: So he was like, Oh, well, I don't feel great.
- 42:54Speaker 2: I'm going to go back to my emotion and do
- 42:56Speaker 2: it with my legs. So, um, how can the Ravens
- 43:00Speaker 2: deal with that? I mean, their, their front has been
- 43:02Speaker 2: a little bit in flux on both sides of the ball.
- 43:04Speaker 2: Trey Hendrickson, a big acquisition for them, missed a couple
- 43:07Speaker 2: of games, had to get finger surgery. He's had his, his, uh,
- 43:10Speaker 2: three fingers on his inside hand, his left hand. He
- 43:12Speaker 2: likes to rushes the right outside linebacker over the left tackle. Um,
- 43:17Speaker 2: those have been banded down. Um, Nnamdi Matabike miraculously coming
- 43:22Speaker 2: back from what was once thought to be a career
- 43:24Speaker 2: ending neck injury. He's been playing really well again. Um,
- 43:28Speaker 2: It doesn't look quite as fast as he did in
- 43:30Speaker 2: maybe his heyday two years ago. But still, it's a
- 43:34Speaker 2: really golden retriever and galloping gazelle.
- 43:36Speaker 1: Galloping gazelle.
- 43:37Speaker 2: He's like a golden retriever rhinoceros.
- 43:40Speaker 1: Yeah, a golden retriever. Yeah, I always go with runaway moose.
- 43:43Speaker 2: Yeah, moose is accurate as well. So can you stunt?
- 43:48Speaker 2: Can you do anything to have layered, staggered? pressures that
- 43:52Speaker 2: get him to just at least stop his feet so
- 43:54Speaker 2: it's it's going to be those key third downs when
- 43:57Speaker 2: when nothing's there and he sees a little bit of
- 43:58Speaker 2: grass and i i mean i like his chances more
- 44:02Speaker 2: often than not um you know when he's got ahead
- 44:05Speaker 2: of steam going it's hard to it's hard to go
- 44:07Speaker 2: end a play and minimize the yards after contact and
- 44:09Speaker 2: all those things when that big fella gets moving so
- 44:12Speaker 2: it's a pretty simple one but ravens aren't tackling real
- 44:15Speaker 2: well right now the the pressure's been a little inconsistent
- 44:18Speaker 2: and i know if you don't you don't hit him
- 44:20Speaker 2: and you don't force him on, on bad angles where
- 44:24Speaker 2: he can't feel consistently comfortable on the move. Like if
- 44:28Speaker 2: you get him into a game where he gets game
- 44:30Speaker 2: breaker mode, when he starts really holding down the trigger
- 44:32Speaker 2: and running all of a sudden, it feels like the,
- 44:35Speaker 2: the natural from what he's talking about is yips. It
- 44:37Speaker 2: felt like the yips went away when he started to
- 44:40Speaker 2: feel the tempo of the game. He's, he's like, you know,
- 44:43Speaker 2: some sort of video game character. The more you punch him,
- 44:45Speaker 2: the more he, he kind of, you know, the taste
- 44:47Speaker 2: of blood gets them going a little bit more. So man, it's,
- 44:51Speaker 2: it's simple, but, hard to stop. So there's going to
- 44:54Speaker 2: be a big moment. Josh Allen's going to use his legs.
- 44:57Speaker 2: It's maybe it's the first half. Maybe the Ravens, even
- 44:59Speaker 2: if Lamar doesn't play, are able to hang around for this, that,
- 45:01Speaker 2: or another reason. But I just don't see the Ravens.
- 45:05Speaker 2: I don't see the dog in them right now. And
- 45:08Speaker 2: I want to see if they can bring the dog.
- 45:10Speaker 2: I mean, Jesse Minter and his press availability is saying,
- 45:12Speaker 2: who's my leader on my defense. Somebody needs to step
- 45:14Speaker 2: up on the sideline. When you're talking like that, that's
- 45:16Speaker 2: a challenge, man. So that, that should make guys want
- 45:19Speaker 2: to go hit Trenton Simpson. Somebody who's been a really
- 45:22Speaker 2: physical presence this year for the Ravens in a contract year.
- 45:25Speaker 2: Maybe we see him with a big opportunity to go
- 45:27Speaker 2: see if he can haul down the golden retriever, moose, rhino,
- 45:31Speaker 2: great white buffalo, galloping gazelle there. I don't know. I
- 45:34Speaker 2: probably will take Josh Allen in the open field over
- 45:36Speaker 2: most guys.
- 45:37Speaker 1: That's fair. I like Trenton Simpson, so I still like him.
- 45:39Speaker 1: I liked him so much coming out of Clemson, and
- 45:42Speaker 1: I enjoy seeing him. I've been enjoying seeing him get
- 45:45Speaker 1: more of a shot this year. To speak to some
- 45:47Speaker 1: of your Ravens tackling woes, they are 24th in missed
- 45:50Speaker 1: tackles this year with 62, and they are 25th in
- 45:55Speaker 1: missed tackle rate at 13.2%. I really like your point about,
- 46:02Speaker 1: you know, can you tackle Josh Allen? His leg's battering
- 46:05Speaker 1: a lot. The last several weeks for the Bills offense,
- 46:10Speaker 1: with DJ Moore being out slash banged up, we have
- 46:14Speaker 1: seen some of the similar struggles for the Bills offense
- 46:18Speaker 1: as we had in previous years, particularly last year. We've
- 46:21Speaker 1: also seen a lot of the same successes. Without DJ Moore,
- 46:25Speaker 1: this offense is relatively, and I don't mean this negatively
- 46:28Speaker 1: or disparagingly, it's relatively the same as it was last year.
- 46:32Speaker 1: you're going to get those YY looks or the tight end,
- 46:36Speaker 1: an inline tight end with one hipped off him, maybe
- 46:38Speaker 1: another tight end hipped off of that, or, you know,
- 46:40Speaker 1: kind of like a dirty or loose bunch in 11 personnel.
- 46:45Speaker 1: The Bills are going to run duo to that side
- 46:47Speaker 1: out of that alignment and look, and they're going to
- 46:49Speaker 1: run mid zone week to the other side. And that's
- 46:52Speaker 1: like where everything starts. And then they'll pass the ball
- 46:55Speaker 1: with the concepts that they lean into and kind of
- 46:58Speaker 1: that's what it is. Did it get DJ Moore? They're
- 47:00Speaker 1: able to stretch the field a little bit combined with
- 47:02Speaker 1: a healthy Dalton Kincaid. But what we've seen the past
- 47:04Speaker 1: several weeks is Josh Allen having to rely on his
- 47:08Speaker 1: legs a little bit more, not finding guys open downfield.
- 47:12Speaker 1: Sometimes they're being guys there and he's not pulling the trigger,
- 47:15Speaker 1: which is something we've seen in previous years as well.
- 47:17Speaker 1: But he's had to rely on his legs to kind
- 47:19Speaker 1: of get him comfortable or get him an advantageous look
- 47:24Speaker 1: against the defense because the initial play call isn't doing
- 47:27Speaker 1: it or he's He doesn't like the way the route
- 47:30Speaker 1: distribution has manifested against the coverage. And so he decides
- 47:33Speaker 1: to hold it, tries to make a play with his legs.
- 47:35Speaker 1: Sometimes it's stuff isn't open and things are locked down.
- 47:38Speaker 1: Sometimes he just wants to create. Sometimes he's just, you know,
- 47:41Speaker 1: it's the getting the gang of Josh Allen, but his
- 47:43Speaker 1: legs have mattered a lot recently and kind of like a,
- 47:47Speaker 1: an underlying story for the bills past game has been
- 47:51Speaker 1: the lack of change or newness in terms of concepts
- 47:58Speaker 1: and what's getting open this year versus last year really
- 48:00Speaker 1: was just like, we're going to drop in a top,
- 48:04Speaker 1: a guy at the top of the depth chart who
- 48:05Speaker 1: can actually play at the top of the depth chart
- 48:07Speaker 1: and who has some juice. And if he's not there, Oh,
- 48:11Speaker 1: what do we do? And that's what it's been the
- 48:13Speaker 1: past several weeks. And we should see DJ more this week.
- 48:16Speaker 1: We'll see what capacity we see him in, how healthy
- 48:19Speaker 1: he is. But yeah, Alan's legs have mattered a lot
- 48:22Speaker 1: in terms of just getting him comfortable and also bailing
- 48:24Speaker 1: him out. Um, for, you know, guys aren't open. Keyon
- 48:28Speaker 1: Coleman's great in the scramble drill. Kalil Shakir is great
- 48:32Speaker 1: in the scramble drill, which helps as well. And Allen's
- 48:35Speaker 1: always been a creator, but it's been a little bit
- 48:38Speaker 1: out of necessity the past several weeks with some things
- 48:40Speaker 1: not being open. And again, DJ Moore does change some things,
- 48:43Speaker 1: but Allen relying on his legs against the defense that
- 48:47Speaker 1: has struggled with some tackling a little bit, as you mentioned.
- 48:49Speaker 1: Good matchup piece. I like that. I like that. Definitely.
- 48:51Speaker 2: My guy, Keon Coleman, I'm glad to see him mature
- 48:54Speaker 2: a little bit, and it seems like he's been doing
- 48:56Speaker 2: what he's supposed to do there, bought in to this
- 48:58Speaker 2: Joe Brady full program. And I don't know why Keon
- 49:03Speaker 2: Coleman's not laying the wood. He was a pretty devastating
- 49:06Speaker 2: run blocker at times in college. And I haven't really
- 49:09Speaker 2: seen that on tape out of him. So that's my
- 49:12Speaker 2: challenge for Mr. Keon Coleman, if I'm able to put
- 49:15Speaker 2: one into the Cover One community here, is uh see
- 49:18Speaker 2: if you guys can get a little a little spark
- 49:20Speaker 2: under his butt get him blocking man i don't i
- 49:22Speaker 2: don't know what's happening he used to be able to
- 49:23Speaker 2: use that big wide frame those long arms and he
- 49:26Speaker 2: used to get up into guys get up into guys
- 49:28Speaker 2: necks and be able to kind of box them out
- 49:30Speaker 2: and grab them and put them on the ground a
- 49:32Speaker 2: little bit out of a straight stock block and Not
- 49:34Speaker 2: really seeing the oomph there. I'm glad to see him
- 49:35Speaker 2: really flourish as a receiver. Was really high on the
- 49:38Speaker 2: talent coming out of FSU. Very young player, but, man,
- 49:41Speaker 2: I want to see him do some more damage as
- 49:44Speaker 2: a blocker. It's a challenge I have for Mr. Coleman.
- 49:48Speaker 1: He– I looked it up because I was trying to
- 49:50Speaker 1: think of the year. Yeah, so his rookie year when
- 49:53Speaker 1: the Bills played the Seahawks in Seattle, he had a
- 49:56Speaker 1: couple– It was against Tariq Woolen where he like buried
- 50:01Speaker 1: him into the sideline and it was like rookie year.
- 50:03Speaker 1: And it was, yeah, it was like, Ooh, I see
- 50:04Speaker 1: you saw this on tape. This is cool. This is fun.
- 50:06Speaker 1: And yeah, you didn't really see that going forward from there.
- 50:10Speaker 1: I thought we'd get more of it too this year
- 50:12Speaker 1: with them. I call it the Mac Collins role like that,
- 50:17Speaker 1: that wide receiver that when you're in 11, it's really
- 50:19Speaker 1: 11 and a half. It was Mac Collins two years ago.
- 50:21Speaker 1: It was Tyrell Shavers last year. I was like, Keon
- 50:24Speaker 1: Coleman should be that guy this year. It just makes sense. Um,
- 50:28Speaker 1: and instead they've kind of leaned more into like the
- 50:31Speaker 1: tight end aspect, which makes sense. And don't kick aid
- 50:33Speaker 1: kind of being that third man. Um, but yeah, I mean,
- 50:36Speaker 1: Keon's got that in his bag, but watching him having
- 50:39Speaker 1: some success, um, as a, as, as a pass catcher
- 50:44Speaker 1: has just been, it's been cool to see. And there's
- 50:47Speaker 1: a hold on. I want to, the sample size is
- 50:48Speaker 1: small cause he's not the most targeted guy, but, uh,
- 50:52Speaker 1: I pulled this last night right before I pulled the
- 50:55Speaker 1: Zay flower numbers, uh, Out of 90 qualifying wide receivers
- 50:59Speaker 1: with at least 100 routes run, this was going into
- 51:02Speaker 1: the Monday night game last night, Keon Coleman is first
- 51:04Speaker 1: in EPA per target at 1.07, and he's first in
- 51:08Speaker 1: targeted success rate at 70.8. And I know, again, the
- 51:11Speaker 1: sample size, it skews it a bit because he's 64th
- 51:14Speaker 1: in targets, 52nd in target share. But just seeing him
- 51:17Speaker 1: have any type of production like that.
- 51:19Speaker 2: Well, it's really nice when you're not getting the ball
- 51:20Speaker 2: a lot for a guy to be locked in. Fair.
- 51:23Speaker 2: So if he's producing on low volume to me for
- 51:27Speaker 2: a guy that has been called out, find and challenged
- 51:30Speaker 2: to be more focused, then I like to see that.
- 51:34Speaker 2: I like to see that means he's engaged when he
- 51:36Speaker 2: is getting those opportunities. I'm looking at simple PFF grades here.
- 51:40Speaker 2: I'm looking, I was like, Oh, in 2025, they had
- 51:42Speaker 2: him with a nice run blocking grade. It looks like
- 51:43Speaker 2: he had a 91 against the jets in week 18 on,
- 51:48Speaker 2: on his highest snap count of the season after the
- 51:51Speaker 2: week one Ravens game, actually. And then, the following week
- 51:54Speaker 2: in the wild card, he had his lowest of the season,
- 51:56Speaker 2: which was a 33 PFF, you know, with a grain
- 51:58Speaker 2: of salt on their subjective grading. But, you know, I
- 52:01Speaker 2: like their stock blocking grades. It's not that too hard
- 52:03Speaker 2: to figure out. That's a pretty simple part of football.
- 52:06Speaker 2: So it seems like he got pretty, pretty up with it.
- 52:08Speaker 2: Week 18.
- 52:09Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 52:10Speaker 2: Not seeing a ton of those little PFF poppers. And
- 52:12Speaker 2: I was a little, a little disappointed to see he's
- 52:14Speaker 2: not turning into somewhat of a centerpiece in the perimeter,
- 52:18Speaker 2: whether it's a blocker on screens for maybe a little
- 52:20Speaker 2: Shakir or, on maybe some, you know, insert blocks and
- 52:24Speaker 2: things like that. Cause I think those are things that
- 52:26Speaker 2: he has the physical capability to do, which make him
- 52:28Speaker 2: a very valuable and unique piece. You mentioned Matt Collins.
- 52:31Speaker 2: It's something you like Matt Collins to do. And again,
- 52:34Speaker 2: he's guys 23 years old, still very young overall. And, um, that's,
- 52:38Speaker 2: that's stuff that takes some experience to get really good
- 52:39Speaker 2: at typically. So I'd like to see him get after
- 52:42Speaker 2: a little more. That's my, my key on Coleman fixation
- 52:44Speaker 2: for the evening.
- 52:45Speaker 1: I think that's fair. I think that's fair. Um, I agree.
- 52:52Speaker 1: I do my next point. I am. I'm just going
- 52:58Speaker 1: to go in order with how I am listed here.
- 53:00Speaker 1: I don't think I have many particular, or I say
- 53:01Speaker 1: that every time it's always a cop out. So I
- 53:03Speaker 1: don't have to commit myself to one. Um, this one's
- 53:06Speaker 1: pretty straightforward. I'm not going to get into all the
- 53:08Speaker 1: stats and the metrics. I did that heading into the
- 53:11Speaker 1: Raiders game two weeks ago. My second point here, I
- 53:16Speaker 1: titled it Jim Leonard versus himself. Uh, Essentially, to kind
- 53:21Speaker 1: of boil it down as much as possible, what's been
- 53:23Speaker 1: happening for the Bills defense this year is, you know,
- 53:28Speaker 1: we talked about miscommunication, you know, things not being simplified enough,
- 53:33Speaker 1: you know, from Jim Leonard. But Jim Leonard also speaking
- 53:35Speaker 1: about it and saying, like, you know, guys are blowing
- 53:37Speaker 1: assignments that don't really have to do with anything being complicated.
- 53:41Speaker 1: So how do I simplify things further? Things have been
- 53:44Speaker 1: very messy. You got guys looking lost out there in
- 53:47Speaker 1: assignments that, you know, yeah, it might be new to them,
- 53:49Speaker 1: but you still shouldn't be that lost as a football player.
- 53:53Speaker 1: Things have been ugly. The crux of all of it is,
- 53:58Speaker 1: in my estimation, the Jim Leonard defense this year does
- 54:03Speaker 1: not have the traditional body types or positional archetypes that
- 54:07Speaker 1: Leonard is accustomed to, even from his time at Wisconsin.
- 54:10Speaker 1: And so then the response is that, well, he's an
- 54:12Speaker 1: NFL coach. He's got to adjust to the pieces around him.
- 54:14Speaker 1: And I think he is. It's actually, I feel like
- 54:18Speaker 1: he's adjusted too much. So instead of trying to do
- 54:21Speaker 1: a square peg into a round hole, he's got a
- 54:23Speaker 1: bunch of square pegs and he's trying to make himself
- 54:27Speaker 1: be the round hole so he can make everything fit.
- 54:30Speaker 1: And I think he's tried to operate this defense kind
- 54:33Speaker 1: of with kid gloves. And some of it is out
- 54:36Speaker 1: of necessity. Guys aren't executing basic stuff. So how can
- 54:39Speaker 1: he get into his bag and get more creative. Some
- 54:42Speaker 1: of the creative stuff he is throwing, they're doing some
- 54:44Speaker 1: like non-traditional Tampa stuff a couple of weeks ago. And
- 54:47Speaker 1: Cole Bishop is the cloud player. And he, he just
- 54:50Speaker 1: has no feel for anybody coming in around him. And that's,
- 54:53Speaker 1: you know, coverage is blown guys get open that way.
- 54:57Speaker 1: So I titled this Jim Leonard against himself because you're just,
- 55:01Speaker 1: and I said this a couple of weeks ago in
- 55:02Speaker 1: an episode that I spoke like for an hour and
- 55:04Speaker 1: a half on this in, in much more detail. I
- 55:06Speaker 1: hate to do that for people and be like, Why
- 55:08Speaker 1: can't you just say it now? Why do you got
- 55:09Speaker 1: to plug something else? But I talked a lot about it. Essentially,
- 55:14Speaker 1: this defense has not looked or felt like a Jim
- 55:15Speaker 1: Leonard defense. We're not seeing the aggression. We're not seeing
- 55:18Speaker 1: the creativity. The only thing that we're seeing is movement
- 55:21Speaker 1: up front. They are second in the league in stunt
- 55:23Speaker 1: rate at 24%. Fun fact, the Ravens are fourth at 22.8%.
- 55:27Speaker 1: They've both been consistently top five in stunt rate all year.
- 55:31Speaker 1: But we're not seeing a ton of simulated pressures. All
- 55:35Speaker 1: the hallmarks and the calling cards of a Jim Leonard
- 55:37Speaker 1: defense the simulated pressures, the creative stuff on third down,
- 55:40Speaker 1: the man coverage stuff, the sound communication and match coverages,
- 55:45Speaker 1: press and being aggressive and dictating to an offense and
- 55:49Speaker 1: not being a counter puncher. We are seeing literally the
- 55:51Speaker 1: antithesis of all of those things thus far under Jim Leonard.
- 55:56Speaker 1: And we started to see a little bit of change
- 55:58Speaker 1: in that against the Raiders, a little bit of a
- 56:01Speaker 1: coverage structure change going into that Raiders game. They were
- 56:05Speaker 1: pretty much just a, Cover three and a quarters defense
- 56:10Speaker 1: heading into that Raiders game. They were at a 36.4%
- 56:14Speaker 1: rate of cover three and a 22.4% rate of quarters.
- 56:19Speaker 1: It was essentially that like, those are your buckets. You
- 56:21Speaker 1: were either going to get cover three or quarters versus
- 56:24Speaker 1: the Raiders in week six. Again, their last game before
- 56:28Speaker 1: they went into the buy, we saw more coverage diversity
- 56:30Speaker 1: and more man coverage, 28.8% cover three, 25.8% cover one, 13.6%
- 56:37Speaker 1: cover six, 10.6% quarters and 6.1% two man. And then
- 56:44Speaker 1: on third down 53.8% cover one rate weeks one through five,
- 56:49Speaker 1: they had a 12.3% cover one rate and their predominant
- 56:53Speaker 1: coverages on third downs weeks one through five were again,
- 56:56Speaker 1: cover three and quarters at the top. They started to
- 57:00Speaker 1: change a little bit. We started to see a little
- 57:01Speaker 1: bit of more of the Jim Leonard stuff against the Raiders.
- 57:04Speaker 1: My thought was, Show a little bit of that against
- 57:06Speaker 1: the team that you should be able to show that against.
- 57:08Speaker 1: No disrespect to the Raiders. Go into the buy, retool, reassess,
- 57:12Speaker 1: come out. Operating this safe way or safer has not
- 57:18Speaker 1: worked for you. So screw it. Let's blitz. Let's play press.
- 57:23Speaker 1: Let's go creative. Let's at least die fast instead of
- 57:26Speaker 1: die slow. Yes, in theory, it could get worse. You
- 57:29Speaker 1: could give up 40 points a game instead of 30
- 57:32Speaker 1: to 35. So things could always get worse. But they
- 57:35Speaker 1: are giving up a ton of plays a game, a
- 57:38Speaker 1: ton of drives per game, a ton of points. When
- 57:41Speaker 1: you get into the drive stats of where they are
- 57:45Speaker 1: in terms of score percentage and touchdown percentage defensively, it's ugly.
- 57:54Speaker 1: And I'm pulling it up right now. Plays per drive,
- 57:58Speaker 1: the Buffalo Bills defense is last in the league. given
- 58:02Speaker 1: up averaging seven plays per drive. When it comes to
- 58:06Speaker 1: score percentage or score rate, they are 31st at 46.8%.
- 58:12Speaker 1: When it comes to drives ending in a touchdown, they
- 58:16Speaker 1: are 31st at 33.9%. We literally could just go down
- 58:20Speaker 1: a multitude of stats and they're all not good. And
- 58:23Speaker 1: so if they're all not good while trying to cater
- 58:25Speaker 1: to what you have, screw it a little bit, get
- 58:30Speaker 1: back to who and what you are, go down swinging
- 58:32Speaker 1: a bit more, change it up a little bit. And
- 58:35Speaker 1: so Jim Leonard versus himself, because I think he's trying
- 58:38Speaker 1: to adapt so hard to the players that he's handcuffed himself.
- 58:43Speaker 1: I think it's also kind of handcuffing the players. It's
- 58:45Speaker 1: turned into one big mess. So that's my second point.
- 58:48Speaker 1: And I had, I had this game Mark granted. I
- 58:51Speaker 1: thought it was going to be Lamar. We'll see what
- 58:52Speaker 1: happens with Huntley, but I had it marked against an
- 58:55Speaker 1: offense that went healthy is a buzzsaw and has given
- 58:58Speaker 1: you problems for years. what can you look like coming
- 59:01Speaker 1: out of the buy? Cause the bills get the Ravens
- 59:02Speaker 1: and then it's the jets, the dolphins, the Vikings, and
- 59:05Speaker 1: then you play the chiefs. You have an opportunity to
- 59:08Speaker 1: kind of course, correct and change the narrative for this
- 59:10Speaker 1: season a little bit. So, yeah, I think it's Jim
- 59:12Speaker 1: Leonard versus himself figuring out what he can do, what
- 59:15Speaker 1: he can't do, and how he wants to go down
- 59:17Speaker 1: swinging and how that could maybe potentially elevate the players
- 59:22Speaker 1: and move this defense in a new direction that is
- 59:24Speaker 1: more in line with who and what he's been over
- 59:27Speaker 1: previous seasons.
- 59:28Speaker 2: Yeah, I really don't love Cole Bishop in his defense.
- 59:32Speaker 2: I don't think he's– I look at Malachi Starks as
- 59:36Speaker 2: a player that Ravens drafted slightly higher. Bishop, what, a
- 59:38Speaker 2: second-round pick?
- 59:40Speaker 1: Yeah, towards the end of the second there.
- 59:42Speaker 2: Yeah, for safety still, you know, that's a high-pick safety
- 59:45Speaker 2: in my eyes. So I think, you know, looking kind
- 59:48Speaker 2: of safeties, linebackers, and then looking at– to me, the
- 59:53Speaker 2: Vikings are just the most interesting defense in the NFL
- 59:55Speaker 2: by far. They have Harrison Smith talking about how, who
- 59:58Speaker 2: was it that decided four is the number you rush?
- 1:00:02Speaker 2: And that's the question the Vikings have been asking themselves.
- 1:00:05Speaker 2: And Vikings brought in Charlie Fry. I would recommend reading
- 1:00:08Speaker 2: the article about Charlie Fry.
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: Oh, it was so good.
- 1:00:11Speaker 2: Yes. Highly recommend going in and checking that out. So
- 1:00:15Speaker 2: when there's that kind of stuff going on, there's what
- 1:00:17Speaker 2: Mike McDonald Seahawks are doing. There's what is happening. Steve
- 1:00:22Speaker 2: Spagnuolo has been doing a few years. And then I
- 1:00:23Speaker 2: look at Minter and I look at, I look at
- 1:00:26Speaker 2: Jim Leonard here and it's like, all right, they rushed four.
- 1:00:28Speaker 2: Sometimes they rush five, you know, 20% of the time,
- 1:00:30Speaker 2: one or five times it's passed down. It's probably 40%
- 1:00:32Speaker 2: if I had to guess on, you know, third and
- 1:00:36Speaker 2: six or more. So it just feels like it's not
- 1:00:39Speaker 2: hard to figure out what the front's doing, which if
- 1:00:42Speaker 2: you're not having to worry about the front as much,
- 1:00:45Speaker 2: there's not as many guys walked up today with, with
- 1:00:48Speaker 2: what sim pressure is and how many guys are getting
- 1:00:51Speaker 2: put in the box. Everybody's looking at Flores and, and,
- 1:00:54Speaker 2: preparing for those types of mugged up looks and umbrella
- 1:00:58Speaker 2: looks where you can, you know, dictate how the offensive
- 1:01:01Speaker 2: pass protection slides one way or the other. I'm just
- 1:01:04Speaker 2: not seeing that being forced for either of these defenses really.
- 1:01:07Speaker 2: So I think that is a part of the equation.
- 1:01:10Speaker 2: That's not leading to four quarters of a quarterback having
- 1:01:13Speaker 2: to do algorithms and math in their head. And then
- 1:01:16Speaker 2: the offensive coordinator as well. And just putting more stress
- 1:01:19Speaker 2: pre-snap is not something I see out of this Bill's
- 1:01:22Speaker 2: defense a ton right now. And yeah, It's a little
- 1:01:25Speaker 2: bit static and makes the math. Football is very simple math.
- 1:01:31Speaker 2: You don't need to, you know, you don't even need
- 1:01:32Speaker 2: to be good at algebra to do it, but there's
- 1:01:34Speaker 2: a little bit of math. Like I've got, all right,
- 1:01:36Speaker 2: I want to run the ball to the right and
- 1:01:38Speaker 2: they're overloading that side. I don't have numbers over there.
- 1:01:40Speaker 2: Let me run the ball weak side. You know, those
- 1:01:43Speaker 2: are basic things. And I think when you're just not
- 1:01:45Speaker 2: asking an offensive line and a quarterback to sort and
- 1:01:48Speaker 2: think of multiple possibilities and have to read and wait
- 1:01:50Speaker 2: and see as much, they can play fast when you
- 1:01:53Speaker 2: can play fast, you play well. So, I think, yeah,
- 1:01:56Speaker 2: I think both of these defenses need to figure out
- 1:01:58Speaker 2: ways to make the opposing quarterback, whether it's Huntley or
- 1:02:01Speaker 2: Lamar for the Bills, whether it's Josh, well, it'll be
- 1:02:03Speaker 2: Josh Allen for the Bills, you know, do a little
- 1:02:06Speaker 2: bit more math up front faster and hold the ball,
- 1:02:09Speaker 2: have to try and find fast answers and then being
- 1:02:12Speaker 2: able to bait them into some throws, bait them into
- 1:02:14Speaker 2: some decisions they have to make to either take a
- 1:02:17Speaker 2: loss or put the ball in danger. And I just
- 1:02:19Speaker 2: don't think either of these defenses are doing enough. The Ravens,
- 1:02:22Speaker 2: Not forcing a high rate, for example, of tight contested
- 1:02:26Speaker 2: throats overall. I think they've gotten their hands on 23 passes.
- 1:02:31Speaker 2: The Steelers have gotten their hands. They lead the NFL
- 1:02:32Speaker 2: with 46. So I have to look. I'm looking at
- 1:02:36Speaker 2: summer sports for that one. Let me see here. We've
- 1:02:39Speaker 2: got missed tackles, all this good stuff. Where's my– where
- 1:02:45Speaker 2: is it? Contested target percentage. The bill is actually forcing 19%,
- 1:02:48Speaker 2: which leads the NFL– uh contested targets according to summer
- 1:02:53Speaker 2: sports and past breakups they do have 35 which is
- 1:02:58Speaker 2: the eighth most so they're getting their paws in some
- 1:02:59Speaker 2: balls uh looks like maybe deceive my subjective eyes they're
- 1:03:03Speaker 2: the ravens 27th they have 23 and they are forcing
- 1:03:05Speaker 2: a contested target on 11.6 so almost half of what
- 1:03:10Speaker 2: the bills have so forcing some contested throws there but
- 1:03:13Speaker 2: um man it's uh Good point for sure. And if
- 1:03:19Speaker 2: it's Lamar, he does that simple math pretty good to
- 1:03:23Speaker 2: figure out. It's something he processes well. So I think
- 1:03:26Speaker 2: if it's Lamar, you get a little bit of help there.
- 1:03:28Speaker 2: The issue with Tyler Huntley overall, we haven't talked about
- 1:03:31Speaker 2: him much. If it is him, he really isn't an
- 1:03:33Speaker 2: accurate deep thrower. He has a little bit of an
- 1:03:34Speaker 2: atypical throwing motion. I think he started maybe eight games
- 1:03:40Speaker 2: in this time, and he didn't complete a pass over
- 1:03:41Speaker 2: 25 air yards from 2023 until I think it was
- 1:03:45Speaker 2: seven starts later. Um, so a long stretch of not
- 1:03:49Speaker 2: being able to push the ball. And again, it's, it's
- 1:03:52Speaker 2: math problems. It's space problems. It's geometry problems. When you
- 1:03:54Speaker 2: feel like you're not getting threatened over top and put
- 1:03:57Speaker 2: more in the box and cause more math problems for
- 1:03:59Speaker 2: the run game for, uh, for your, your opposing offense.
- 1:04:02Speaker 2: So math, math, math, Jim Leonard, if I'm Jim Leonard,
- 1:04:05Speaker 2: I want to make this Ravens offensive line have to sort.
- 1:04:09Speaker 2: I want to do that by walking some guys up,
- 1:04:11Speaker 2: even if they're just dropping out, make slides go a
- 1:04:13Speaker 2: certain way and then stunt off of it. So, um, yeah,
- 1:04:17Speaker 2: I mean, we haven't seen a rule change in the
- 1:04:20Speaker 2: sport in a while. We haven't really seen any schematic
- 1:04:23Speaker 2: innovation trickle up from the lower levels, the youth football world.
- 1:04:28Speaker 2: I think the RPO was really the last true innovation
- 1:04:31Speaker 2: we saw trickle up and offenses aren't really running RPOs
- 1:04:34Speaker 2: a ton anymore. The defenses have solved those out a
- 1:04:36Speaker 2: little bit with having some lighter bodies, the way that
- 1:04:39Speaker 2: they use their safeties and some different calls. So, um,
- 1:04:43Speaker 2: to me it's, it's, you know, solving these math problems, um,
- 1:04:47Speaker 2: the more complex the defense makes it when there's not
- 1:04:49Speaker 2: a rule change and they feel like they can start
- 1:04:51Speaker 2: to mess with an offense, the harder life gets, especially
- 1:04:54Speaker 2: if you're doing it with intention. So yes, man, I
- 1:04:57Speaker 2: could be in for a high scoring affair. If Lamar
- 1:04:59Speaker 2: is feeling good, I don't think we're surprised there. The
- 1:05:03Speaker 2: bill should be rested. If Lamar is rested and able
- 1:05:05Speaker 2: to go, I'm not surprised to see this game, you know,
- 1:05:08Speaker 2: get into the, the forties pretty easily for the total.
- 1:05:11Speaker 2: I don't know what the total is. I haven't looked
- 1:05:13Speaker 2: by the guests. It's, Probably a waiting status. I would
- 1:05:16Speaker 2: guess it's maybe 47 and a half if I had
- 1:05:18Speaker 2: to guess.
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: Yeah, I expect to see some points and some fireworks
- 1:05:22Speaker 1: in this one. Your third and final point for this
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: matchup here in week eight between the Bills and the Ravens.
- 1:05:31Speaker 2: 54 and a half.
- 1:05:34Speaker 3: Yikes.
- 1:05:35Speaker 2: Wow.
- 1:05:36Speaker 1: Wonder if they know something we don't about Lamar Jackson playing.
- 1:05:40Speaker 2: I think they're leaning pretty heavily towards him playing there.
- 1:05:42Speaker 2: Three and a half points for it currently.
- 1:05:45Speaker 1: Fair enough.
- 1:05:45Speaker 2: They usually know, and you can usually see in the spread.
- 1:05:47Speaker 2: Last week, they did not, though. Big jump. It was
- 1:05:49Speaker 2: Ravens minus three and a half, and it flipped to
- 1:05:51Speaker 2: Bengals minus three and a half to start. So we
- 1:05:54Speaker 2: shall see in that regard. However, my final point here,
- 1:05:59Speaker 2: I've watched a little bit of the Bills' special team snaps.
- 1:06:02Speaker 2: Correct me if I'm wrong. I just feel like neither
- 1:06:04Speaker 2: of these teams, Bass is a nice, consistent kicker, relatively speaking.
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: Now, he has been this year, as he's had the yips.
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: He's been a big the subject of conversation for a
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: lot of bills fans, but he has been good this year.
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: Fingers crossed. No jinx.
- 1:06:18Speaker 2: Kickers should not be a part of the sport. There
- 1:06:20Speaker 2: should be no kicking. Kickers should make $ 50 million. Uh,
- 1:06:24Speaker 2: I had Justin Tucker for a long time until he
- 1:06:26Speaker 2: did some nefarious activities throughout the greater Baltimore area. But, uh,
- 1:06:30Speaker 2: why are kickers not paid $ 50 million a year? They
- 1:06:32Speaker 2: determine every other game. Like it's, it's crazy to me.
- 1:06:35Speaker 2: Like it's the stupidest part of the sport. It would
- 1:06:38Speaker 2: be like, all right, let's go. Uh, let's go play
- 1:06:41Speaker 2: a baseball game. And if the game's tied at the end,
- 1:06:43Speaker 2: we're going to have the bullpen catchers do a hot
- 1:06:45Speaker 2: dog eating contest. Like it is just so outside of
- 1:06:49Speaker 2: the rest of the skillset of the guys who make
- 1:06:52Speaker 2: all the money and do all the things. Oh, NBA
- 1:06:54Speaker 2: games close. All right. We're going to see who can
- 1:06:57Speaker 2: ride horses and do a quarter mile. You know, we'll
- 1:07:03Speaker 2: get our point guards on to go jockey. It just
- 1:07:04Speaker 2: doesn't make any sense to me. So I'm not seeing
- 1:07:08Speaker 2: any crazy impact out of the return game. from the bills.
- 1:07:12Speaker 2: Have they been, have they been doing anything nice this season?
- 1:07:14Speaker 1: Ray Davis is, is effective all pro returner last year.
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: He's had a couple this year. Greg Dorch gives him
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: some juice in the punt.
- 1:07:20Speaker 2: Yeah. Okay. Maybe a little better then, but for me,
- 1:07:23Speaker 2: can the Ravens do something on special teams? They, their
- 1:07:26Speaker 2: kicker is fine. He misses some, he's very bad from
- 1:07:32Speaker 2: 40 to 49 for whatever reason. I'm not a kicking specialist.
- 1:07:36Speaker 2: He's very good from 50 plus. He's very good from
- 1:07:38Speaker 2: inside 40. Their punter has not been great. They have
- 1:07:42Speaker 2: really not had a ton of juice in the last week. One,
- 1:07:45Speaker 2: they had a big return. Chris Moore had one return.
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: They've had a couple. And then, yeah, Bills had the
- 1:07:55Speaker 1: first– the opening kick against the Rams. Ray Davis took
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: it down to like the Rams, like 30. And then
- 1:08:00Speaker 1: the Bills got like three plays of negative yards and
- 1:08:02Speaker 1: had to kick a field goal.
- 1:08:03Speaker 2: Yep. So, to me, it's like what– Let's see some
- 1:08:07Speaker 2: juice on special teams. I want to see if there's
- 1:08:09Speaker 2: some funk. For the Ravens, if it's Huntley, you've got
- 1:08:13Speaker 2: to figure out how to increase your margins here. I
- 1:08:15Speaker 2: think it's being more aggressive on special teams. I think
- 1:08:17Speaker 2: it's being more aggressive on fourth down maybe than they've been.
- 1:08:20Speaker 2: The Ravens have been unbelievably bad in short yardage run situations.
- 1:08:24Speaker 2: They have a sub-50% success rate from third and fourth
- 1:08:27Speaker 2: and short in those power situations. And the Bills can
- 1:08:32Speaker 2: tush-push really well. So... The Ravens need to figure out
- 1:08:36Speaker 2: ways to give themselves a better margin if it's Tyler Huntley.
- 1:08:40Speaker 2: And if it's Lamar Jackson, nonetheless, the Bills can put
- 1:08:43Speaker 2: up points. So to me, it's being aggressive on special teams.
- 1:08:47Speaker 2: To me, it's being aggressive on fourth down. It's being
- 1:08:49Speaker 2: aggressive with the directional punting that you want to use
- 1:08:52Speaker 2: and how you want to evoke some potential return situations
- 1:08:56Speaker 2: and see. Ravens have a player, Keandre Jackson, one of
- 1:08:58Speaker 2: my favorite players. I'll say he's one of my favorite Ravens,
- 1:09:00Speaker 2: really of all time, getting there pretty quickly. I call
- 1:09:04Speaker 2: him the Hellcat. He wears a Guardian cap, and for
- 1:09:07Speaker 2: good reason. He is using that thing as a weapon.
- 1:09:09Speaker 2: He has been a monster. He's blocked a kick. He
- 1:09:11Speaker 2: has a bunch of tackles on kick coverage. I want
- 1:09:13Speaker 2: to try and see if they can. He's a great gunner.
- 1:09:15Speaker 2: He's been playing snaps at safety. One of my favorites.
- 1:09:18Speaker 2: I might be getting his jersey. He does something big
- 1:09:21Speaker 2: time and I haven't bought a Jersey in a couple
- 1:09:22Speaker 2: of years. So Ravens need to figure out how to
- 1:09:27Speaker 2: get a spark, whether it's on through, I guess that's
- 1:09:29Speaker 2: my point. How can you get a spark? Is it
- 1:09:32Speaker 2: through aggression on fourth down? Is it through like we
- 1:09:35Speaker 2: just talked about being aggressive with your fronts, defensively mugging,
- 1:09:39Speaker 2: changing pressure front, changing, you know, rotation, special teams. Can
- 1:09:43Speaker 2: you be aggressive in your, your coverage units? The bills
- 1:09:45Speaker 2: are coming off of a buy and to me are
- 1:09:48Speaker 2: going to be calculated to me. Maybe they start slow.
- 1:09:50Speaker 2: Teams can start slow in the first quarter coming out
- 1:09:52Speaker 2: of a bye. They might be a little, oh, my God,
- 1:09:55Speaker 2: I woke up in my $ 8, 000, I'm an NFL player
- 1:09:57Speaker 2: bed that tells me the CO2 level in the room
- 1:10:00Speaker 2: and all that good stuff. Oh, la-di-da-di-da, go down to
- 1:10:03Speaker 2: the stadium, got to get punched in the face a
- 1:10:04Speaker 2: couple times to get the juices flowing. But for the Ravens,
- 1:10:08Speaker 2: I think it's really trying to figure out how can
- 1:10:10Speaker 2: you generate a spark, a turnover on special teams, a
- 1:10:14Speaker 2: bad situation for the Bills, or convert in some aggressive situations.
- 1:10:18Speaker 2: Ravens are hurting pretty bad right now losing two straight
- 1:10:21Speaker 2: in the AFC. They have to go to Buffalo, and
- 1:10:23Speaker 2: then they have to get the Jags on short rest
- 1:10:25Speaker 2: with their quarterback situation in flux. So to me, this
- 1:10:28Speaker 2: coaching staff needs to find a way, whether it's on
- 1:10:30Speaker 2: special teams or in decision-making, to get an edge. And
- 1:10:35Speaker 2: that's kind of my point. I don't think you can
- 1:10:37Speaker 2: go toe-to-toe with the Bills in Buffalo right now with
- 1:10:40Speaker 2: some of the shuffling the Ravens have done. And just
- 1:10:43Speaker 2: expect your players to outplay the Bills coming off of
- 1:10:45Speaker 2: a bye week. I think they need to find an edge,
- 1:10:48Speaker 2: whether on special teams or through some decision-making.
- 1:10:51Speaker 1: Very fair. From a DVOA perspective, Baltimore Ravens are 17th
- 1:10:57Speaker 1: in special teams DVOA this year. The Buffalo Bills are second.
- 1:11:02Speaker 2: Okay, they're doing it.
- 1:11:03Speaker 1: They've been good on kick coverage. They've been good on
- 1:11:05Speaker 1: punt coverage. The Vikings are first because, of course, the
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: Vikings are just going to be amazing on defense and
- 1:11:11Speaker 1: special teams and then score 10 points a game on offense,
- 1:11:14Speaker 1: and it won't matter because they're having great special teams,
- 1:11:17Speaker 1: and then blitzing at an 85% clip.
- 1:11:20Speaker 2: Who decided? Who decided that four is the number to rush?
- 1:11:23Speaker 1: I love little things like that because it makes you
- 1:11:25Speaker 1: just go like, well, yeah, I mean, I guess. And
- 1:11:30Speaker 1: so it's just like, well, yeah. And it's even more
- 1:11:33Speaker 1: painful watching Vikings tape because I've liked what Flores has
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: done for so many years, even though he is an outlier.
- 1:11:40Speaker 1: but watching the bills be so static and so, and
- 1:11:43Speaker 1: playing so much on the back foot and then watching
- 1:11:45Speaker 1: Flores just heater after heater and then like devastating change-ups
- 1:11:50Speaker 1: and curve balls and everything is just front foot, front foot,
- 1:11:54Speaker 1: front foot, attack, attack, attack, live by the sword, die
- 1:11:57Speaker 1: by the sword. And they're living by it and everybody
- 1:12:00Speaker 1: else is dying. It's even more painful like watching the
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: bills and then going from there. Uh, but yeah, some,
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: some good special teams for the bills kind of middling
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: for the Ravens. We'll see, uh, Yeah, we'll see if
- 1:12:09Speaker 1: that rears its head. It'll probably jinx the hell out
- 1:12:11Speaker 1: of Tyler Bass now. It'll probably miss several kicks. My
- 1:12:15Speaker 1: last point, the Buffalo Bills, 46.5% 11 personnel rate, 27.1%
- 1:12:21Speaker 1: 13 personnel rate. They have the third most plays from
- 1:12:25Speaker 1: 13 personnel in the NFL this year at 103. And
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: then their third highest personnel grouping from a usage rate
- 1:12:29Speaker 1: is 12 personnel 21.4%, but they're 24th in plays from
- 1:12:41Speaker 1: 12 personnel at 72. My third point here is what
- 1:12:47Speaker 1: heavy personnel grouping does the Buffalo Bills offense go with?
- 1:12:52Speaker 1: They've got some nice metrics in 11 personnel. They are
- 1:12:57Speaker 1: a high 13 personnel usage team, 27.1% rate. Like I mentioned,
- 1:13:01Speaker 1: third most plays from 13 personnel, but their numbers kind
- 1:13:05Speaker 1: of aren't great. In 13, you know, they're 15th in
- 1:13:09Speaker 1: EPA per play. They're 19th in success rate out of
- 1:13:12Speaker 1: 13 personnel. Their pass game, 22nd EPA per pass, 19th
- 1:13:17Speaker 1: in passing success rate. Run is still good, 7th in
- 1:13:19Speaker 1: EPA per rush, 14th in rushing success rate. But then
- 1:13:23Speaker 1: if you go to 12 personnel, Buffalo Bills out of
- 1:13:26Speaker 1: 12 personnel this year, 2nd in EPA per play, 2nd
- 1:13:32Speaker 1: in success rate. Pass game, still a little meh. 11th
- 1:13:37Speaker 1: in EPA per pass, 18th in passing success rate. But
- 1:13:40Speaker 1: the Bills' run game out of 12 personnel, they are
- 1:13:45Speaker 1: first in EPA per rush at positive 0.31. The Falcons
- 1:13:50Speaker 1: are second at plus 0.14. So they're more than double
- 1:13:55Speaker 1: what the Falcons are at two. Their rushing success rate
- 1:13:59Speaker 1: out of 12 personnel, 64.1%. The 49ers are second at 58.3%.
- 1:14:06Speaker 1: So the Bills are just mauling and mashing out of
- 1:14:10Speaker 1: 12 personnel this year. They're also first in yards before
- 1:14:15Speaker 1: contact per rush out of 12 personnel this year at 3.36.
- 1:14:19Speaker 1: And then they're second in duo rate this year out
- 1:14:24Speaker 1: of 12 personnel at 48.6%. So essentially 58% of the time.
- 1:14:30Speaker 1: And again, it ties back to something I mentioned earlier
- 1:14:32Speaker 1: in terms of what they do. They're going to run
- 1:14:34Speaker 1: duo a bunch. They're running duo in mid-zone week. Those
- 1:14:36Speaker 1: are their main bread-and-butter run games. It can vary a
- 1:14:40Speaker 1: little bit based on the opponent, which one is A,
- 1:14:42Speaker 1: which one is B for the week. They'll mix in
- 1:14:44Speaker 1: some other stuff, like they'll run dart or tackle wrap
- 1:14:48Speaker 1: out of gun. They might put a tight end in
- 1:14:51Speaker 1: blast motion and run some counter stuff. But any way
- 1:14:54Speaker 1: you slice it, the Buffalo Bills run game out of
- 1:14:58Speaker 1: 12 personnel is phenomenal. The Ravens run defense this year
- 1:15:06Speaker 1: when facing 12 personnel. They're 14th in EPA per rush,
- 1:15:11Speaker 1: second in rushing success rate allowed, fourth in yards before
- 1:15:15Speaker 1: contact per rush allowed, and then they're 10th in explosive
- 1:15:19Speaker 1: run rate allowed at 8%. The Bills also out of
- 1:15:22Speaker 1: 12 personnel are first in explosive run rate at 19.4%.
- 1:15:27Speaker 1: I see this one as kind of a good on,
- 1:15:29Speaker 1: not even a kind of, I think this is a
- 1:15:31Speaker 1: good on good. the bills 13 personnel has kind of
- 1:15:34Speaker 1: been mad this year from a metric standpoint, even though
- 1:15:36Speaker 1: they use it at a high clip. I think Kyle
- 1:15:39Speaker 1: Hamilton is a great equalizer when it comes to 12 personnel,
- 1:15:43Speaker 1: particularly even 13 to a degree, but the fact that
- 1:15:46Speaker 1: you can go three safeties and put Hamilton down in
- 1:15:49Speaker 1: the box and then play Hawkins in the back, do
- 1:15:52Speaker 1: what you want to do with Malachi Starks. They're even
- 1:15:54Speaker 1: getting how they were getting cave on Wallace involved against
- 1:15:59Speaker 1: the bangles a little bit. You got your boy counter
- 1:16:01Speaker 1: Jackson back there. He's getting some snaps of that guardian cap.
- 1:16:05Speaker 1: I saw the 33 and the Jackson on the name.
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: And I, I still keep thinking Eddie Jackson from what
- 1:16:09Speaker 1: he was with the Ravens a couple of years ago,
- 1:16:11Speaker 1: even though I know like it's not, um, and their
- 1:16:13Speaker 1: body types are completely different, but I think the Ravens
- 1:16:17Speaker 1: personnel specifically Hamilton gives them a lot of good fight
- 1:16:20Speaker 1: and fire with fire. Hamilton has been a good eraser
- 1:16:24Speaker 1: for them, particularly in that Monday night game where they
- 1:16:26Speaker 1: just throttled the bills a couple of years ago. Um,
- 1:16:30Speaker 1: He's such a problem because of his body type and
- 1:16:32Speaker 1: his athleticism and how he plays the game. And I
- 1:16:35Speaker 1: think the metrics speak to Hamilton's usage, what he can
- 1:16:39Speaker 1: do against 12 personnel. The Ravens do have an equalizer there.
- 1:16:43Speaker 1: So do the Bills. Is this a heavy 11 personnel
- 1:16:45Speaker 1: day for the Bills? Do they want to stay with
- 1:16:48Speaker 1: 13 and make the Ravens try and play with base?
- 1:16:50Speaker 1: And we're trying to get Simpson and Buchanan on the
- 1:16:52Speaker 1: field along with Roquan, and then we'll see how they
- 1:16:56Speaker 1: can match up with Kincaid and or maybe Dawson Knox. Um,
- 1:17:00Speaker 1: can they match with Jackson Hawes or do we see
- 1:17:02Speaker 1: an uptick in 12 this week with how successful they've
- 1:17:05Speaker 1: been out of it? Or do you kind of consider
- 1:17:07Speaker 1: it a wash because the Ravens handled 12 well, and
- 1:17:09Speaker 1: they have a good equalizer, the heavy personnel groupings, condensed formations.
- 1:17:14Speaker 1: It's been a huge part of the bill's offense for
- 1:17:16Speaker 1: the past several years and match up an opponent kind
- 1:17:19Speaker 1: of dictates which one they lean into and how much. Um,
- 1:17:23Speaker 1: and so that's a big one for, for me this week,
- 1:17:26Speaker 1: which heavy personnel grouping do they lean into? Um, And
- 1:17:29Speaker 1: then how do they choose to attack out of it?
- 1:17:31Speaker 1: Is it leaning into 13 or 12 to run to pass?
- 1:17:34Speaker 1: We mix in the play action. Can we generate explosives
- 1:17:36Speaker 1: when going under play with going with play action? So
- 1:17:39Speaker 1: on and so forth, all the meta, all the things.
- 1:17:42Speaker 2: Yeah, it's interesting. The bills have only run 72 offensive
- 1:17:45Speaker 2: plays out of 12, which ranks 24th in the NFL.
- 1:17:48Speaker 2: But as you mentioned, they are third in EPA. They
- 1:17:52Speaker 2: are second in EPA per play and their rushing success
- 1:17:55Speaker 2: has been really devastating out of that. So, Um, definitely a,
- 1:17:58Speaker 2: a nice up your sleeve for when you need to
- 1:18:01Speaker 2: go get it. It seems like you want to go
- 1:18:02Speaker 2: into 12 on some of that mid zone and some
- 1:18:04Speaker 2: of that duo, um, seems like, you know, high leverage
- 1:18:08Speaker 2: downs in, uh, in some neutral situ neutral downs that
- 1:18:11Speaker 2: are high leverage, I would say, you know, ends of
- 1:18:13Speaker 2: halves or a third and threes, things like that. Being
- 1:18:16Speaker 2: able to go run those two and boot off of
- 1:18:18Speaker 2: it is, uh, definitely a big part of it. I'm
- 1:18:20Speaker 2: wondering how I would have to refine some of the
- 1:18:22Speaker 2: data I'm looking at. I'm wondering how much comes off
- 1:18:24Speaker 2: of scrambles, if that's been devastating or boots. um if
- 1:18:28Speaker 2: i can quickly refine uh i don't think i can
- 1:18:33Speaker 2: but curious about that one curious about what josh allen's
- 1:18:35Speaker 2: done there.
- 1:18:35Speaker 1: Because are you on are you on sumer yep i
- 1:18:38Speaker 1: oh i wish they i'm gonna message sean site i
- 1:18:41Speaker 1: want yeah i want to be able to filter out
- 1:18:43Speaker 1: for running back carries only i want to know.
- 1:18:45Speaker 2: They've got good stuff. I love it. I love their
- 1:18:47Speaker 2: UI a lot. They just need a little extra, a little,
- 1:18:49Speaker 2: a little bit more.
- 1:18:50Speaker 1: They've been a big go-to for me this year. I
- 1:18:52Speaker 1: know how they chart. I trust him and Tej and
- 1:18:55Speaker 1: their whole data analytics group and how they've taught their mind. Yeah.
- 1:18:58Speaker 1: Sumer's been a big resource for me.
- 1:18:59Speaker 2: A hundred percent. So yeah, like you said, they, they
- 1:19:03Speaker 2: have a good bit of man run percentage. I'm guessing
- 1:19:05Speaker 2: that's the duo. If I had to guess, I don't
- 1:19:08Speaker 2: think they're running. a ton of power at all whatsoever. So, um, yeah, very,
- 1:19:13Speaker 2: very interesting point you make there. Like you said, Hamilton
- 1:19:16Speaker 2: big on it. Uh, the Ravens did use a little
- 1:19:18Speaker 2: bit more base against the Falcons. Uh, definitely, which is
- 1:19:23Speaker 2: mentor does not like to have to do that. He
- 1:19:25Speaker 2: likes to stay in his nickel. He likes to have
- 1:19:27Speaker 2: Kyle Hamilton there. However, Jalen Hawkins out, you talked about
- 1:19:30Speaker 2: Keandre Jackson. So I, uh, I guess my controversial take
- 1:19:34Speaker 2: is I like when Kyle Hamilton plays in the post
- 1:19:37Speaker 2: and in the deep half.
- 1:19:38Speaker 1: Man, It's such a I get it like the length
- 1:19:41Speaker 1: and the size and what he is at the box.
- 1:19:43Speaker 1: But I also like how that length and size and
- 1:19:46Speaker 1: athleticism plays deep. And yeah, playing top down, we can
- 1:19:49Speaker 1: get to some cool. Let's make him that top down
- 1:19:51Speaker 1: like robber, like slash, you know, quote unquote, pole runner
- 1:19:55Speaker 1: and some nontraditional Tampa stuff. Let's let him just play
- 1:19:57Speaker 1: as a single high post safety. I echo those sentiments
- 1:20:00Speaker 1: very much so.
- 1:20:02Speaker 2: Yeah, I think he does it really well, and I
- 1:20:04Speaker 2: call him the Millennium Falcon. He just looks like a
- 1:20:06Speaker 2: big old spaceship running around out there covering up some space. So,
- 1:20:10Speaker 2: you know, Stark's a highly drafted player. Hawkins, they're getting
- 1:20:13Speaker 2: comfortable with. But you've got somebody who's like 6'5, the
- 1:20:16Speaker 2: 83-inch wingspan that knows what he's doing back there. It
- 1:20:19Speaker 2: really can reduce the margin for error. Plus, he's physical. Plus,
- 1:20:23Speaker 2: he's clean technically. So, yeah, I am curious there for sure.
- 1:20:27Speaker 2: Teddy Buchanan coming off of an ACL, you'd mentioned him.
- 1:20:30Speaker 2: They're trying to integrate him a good bit. He's had
- 1:20:32Speaker 2: a couple of weeks to get a couple of snaps
- 1:20:33Speaker 2: in Trenton Simpson playing really well. So yeah, not something
- 1:20:36Speaker 2: that's given the Ravens a ton of trouble. Um, they've
- 1:20:39Speaker 2: been able to stuff a good bit of runs out
- 1:20:40Speaker 2: of 12 personnel with nickel. Um, so certainly, uh, that
- 1:20:45Speaker 2: is the, the bill's kind of secret weapon with a
- 1:20:48Speaker 2: 19 estimated points added there on only 72 snaps. That's
- 1:20:51Speaker 2: pretty darn good. And when you go look at the
- 1:20:52Speaker 2: run game at 64%, that's, uh, you know, that's Shaq
- 1:20:57Speaker 2: being able to go get a bucket down in the post.
- 1:20:58Speaker 2: It feels like if you can run at that rate
- 1:21:01Speaker 2: out of that personnel with that amount of success, it's
- 1:21:05Speaker 2: not something they're doing all the time. Kind of feels like, Hey, we,
- 1:21:08Speaker 2: we need a bucket here. Let's see if we can
- 1:21:09Speaker 2: get a Tracy McGrady to pull up or, or Steph
- 1:21:12Speaker 2: to run around a screen and we're going to go
- 1:21:13Speaker 2: get it there. So I think that's something they like
- 1:21:16Speaker 2: to rely on. If I had to guess a little
- 1:21:18Speaker 2: bit more high leverage situations and not let you get
- 1:21:21Speaker 2: comfortable with it. So, um, Yeah, interesting that they've only
- 1:21:25Speaker 2: run 72 plays there. The Raiders up at 223, which
- 1:21:28Speaker 2: makes sense because they like Mr. Bowers and Mr. Mayer
- 1:21:30Speaker 2: there as fixtures in their pass game. So definitely, definitely
- 1:21:35Speaker 2: makes a lot of sense. Ravens fifth there, 137. So, yeah,
- 1:21:38Speaker 2: heavier personnel.
- 1:21:40Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, to me, like that's– I've talked about
- 1:21:43Speaker 3: how there's not a schematic change, and I think the
- 1:21:48Speaker 3: Swifties– My grand conspiracy is that Taylor Swift and Travis
- 1:21:52Speaker 3: Kelsey are a psy-op to increase youth participation in football.
- 1:21:57Speaker 2: And if there was a demographic that didn't have their
- 1:22:00Speaker 2: kids putting helmets on, it was probably Swifties. And we're
- 1:22:05Speaker 2: going to see the great era of tight ends in
- 1:22:08Speaker 2: about 15 years here. And the Swifties are going to
- 1:22:11Speaker 2: have a lot of tight ends enter the atmosphere. But, man, Kincaid,
- 1:22:15Speaker 2: a player I like a lot. And, yeah, I think–
- 1:22:19Speaker 2: a key there to ultimately go get a bucket. If
- 1:22:23Speaker 2: you need one, when you need one is going to
- 1:22:25Speaker 2: be running that mid zone, running that duo and booting
- 1:22:28Speaker 2: off of it. They're going to have to go tackle
- 1:22:30Speaker 2: Josh Allen in a key moment in this game, whether
- 1:22:32Speaker 2: Bill's run away with it, if it's Huntley and it's
- 1:22:34Speaker 2: in the first half or whether it's in the second half.
- 1:22:37Speaker 2: So let's watch out for a little boot slide, a
- 1:22:39Speaker 2: little something like that, or something funky out of 12
- 1:22:42Speaker 2: personnel from the bills to try and Gain the upper hand,
- 1:22:46Speaker 2: take the leverage, ice the game, things like that. I
- 1:22:48Speaker 2: think that's my best shot at being Nostradamus in this one,
- 1:22:51Speaker 2: my friend.
- 1:22:52Speaker 1: I think that's fair. I've kept you far too long.
- 1:22:58Speaker 1: I'm going to give you the floor. The floor is yours.
- 1:23:00Speaker 1: Tell anybody and everybody where they can find you, what
- 1:23:03Speaker 1: you do, anything and everything you got. The floor is yours.
- 1:23:08Speaker 2: You can find Baltimore Film Breakdown on Substack. I do
- 1:23:11Speaker 2: want to ask a question. So this is my additional
- 1:23:14Speaker 2: theory here. This is for your listeners. Are you a
- 1:23:17Speaker 2: ball knower? Do you know ball? I'm going to ask
- 1:23:20Speaker 2: you a question. This is going to go out to
- 1:23:23Speaker 2: the chat here. I have a theory that 98% of
- 1:23:28Speaker 2: fantasy football playing, NFL Sunday watching gentlemen in this esteemed nation,
- 1:23:33Speaker 2: could not go properly onto a peewee football field and
- 1:23:36Speaker 2: line up a group of 11 nine-year-olds to legally run
- 1:23:41Speaker 2: an offensive play. So if you fancy yourself a ball knower, well,
- 1:23:46Speaker 2: the ball has to be snapped. There's got to be
- 1:23:48Speaker 2: a center. You got to be set, right? A couple
- 1:23:49Speaker 2: of those things, motion. You can have one guy. He
- 1:23:51Speaker 2: has to be run backwards. But there's two requirements that
- 1:23:57Speaker 2: must be satisfied by an offense in order to be
- 1:23:59Speaker 2: legal or lined up correctly and set. If you fancy
- 1:24:04Speaker 2: yourself a ball knower, I'm looking for two answers. Both
- 1:24:07Speaker 2: of them are a number. Something has to happen around
- 1:24:09Speaker 2: the line of scrimmage. So I'm going to give you
- 1:24:11Speaker 2: a moment to ask yourself that, whether you're watching that live,
- 1:24:13Speaker 2: whether you're watching this after the fact. Don't look it up.
- 1:24:15Speaker 2: Don't cheat on yourself. I'll give you a beat. What
- 1:24:19Speaker 2: do you need to satisfy? Well, if you're ready for
- 1:24:24Speaker 2: the answer, it's got to be seven guys on the
- 1:24:26Speaker 2: line of scrimmage. Five of them have to be ineligible.
- 1:24:30Speaker 2: They're ineligible because of their jersey number in the NFL,
- 1:24:32Speaker 2: different youth football. But those two things. If you don't
- 1:24:36Speaker 2: know those two things, come to Baltimore Film Breakdown. We're doing,
- 1:24:38Speaker 2: of course, Football for Dummies, Operations. We're doing something that's global.
- 1:24:42Speaker 2: Learn about the game. Walter Ford nailed it. Seven players
- 1:24:45Speaker 2: on the line. And James doesn't do fantasy. We've got
- 1:24:48Speaker 2: some ball knowers here. I think James, I think Aunt P,
- 1:24:51Speaker 2: I think you guys could go on a peewee field
- 1:24:53Speaker 2: and get guys lined up. That's a ball knower to me.
- 1:24:56Speaker 2: You are a ball knower. Your audience seems to be
- 1:24:59Speaker 2: some ball knowers. I think you guys have a, a very, very,
- 1:25:03Speaker 2: very nice, uh, thing going here at cover one. We
- 1:25:06Speaker 2: love it. We, uh, I'll throw a one pie pizza. Go, go,
- 1:25:08Speaker 2: go get it. Go get a nice little, go get
- 1:25:10Speaker 2: a nice little pie for him. Appreciate you having me on,
- 1:25:12Speaker 2: but yeah, Baltimore film breakdown.com. If you want to learn more, Hey,
- 1:25:15Speaker 2: how does football work? We're gonna have some fun stuff
- 1:25:17Speaker 2: this off season. You can follow me on Twitter at
- 1:25:19Speaker 2: Ravens for dummies. If you want to learn a little
- 1:25:21Speaker 2: bit more about, Hey, how do you line up? Hey,
- 1:25:23Speaker 2: what are some basic things? We're going to have some
- 1:25:25Speaker 2: hand guides, some live classes, some things like that, just to,
- 1:25:28Speaker 2: Learn about, hey, I watch this thing all the time.
- 1:25:31Speaker 2: How do you go get guys lined up? How do
- 1:25:32Speaker 2: we line up properly? What are gaps? What does that
- 1:25:34Speaker 2: mean when people talk about that? Some very basic things.
- 1:25:37Speaker 2: So come join us, BaltimoreFilmBreakdown.com.
- 1:25:39Speaker 1: I think that's a great resource. And not to mention
- 1:25:41Speaker 1: all the high-level stuff you do. But that's a great point, too. Yeah,
- 1:25:43Speaker 1: there's so many. Yeah, find out why. In this particular instance,
- 1:25:48Speaker 1: why an offensive lineman is walking up and pointing to
- 1:25:51Speaker 1: the ref and doing this to their jersey.
- 1:25:53Speaker 2: Why is the receiver asking the ref something, pointing a
- 1:25:56Speaker 2: thumbs up? Yep.
- 1:25:57Speaker 1: Why is, you know, somebody going in motion and somebody
- 1:26:00Speaker 1: stepping up closer to the line and yep, looking at
- 1:26:02Speaker 1: the ref and yeah, you can go even further and
- 1:26:06Speaker 1: know why everybody thought Jawan Taylor was offsides at right
- 1:26:10Speaker 1: tackle every single snap for the chiefs a couple of
- 1:26:12Speaker 1: years ago because of where his helmet was lined up
- 1:26:14Speaker 1: in relation to the ball.
- 1:26:16Speaker 2: And the rest of the line. Found a little advantage there.
- 1:26:18Speaker 2: But I think you've got a great, great host here
- 1:26:20Speaker 2: in Ant who's going to be able to educate you.
- 1:26:22Speaker 2: Ask those kinds of questions, man. When you guys are,
- 1:26:24Speaker 2: Consuming all this football, asking questions, some basic stuff. These
- 1:26:27Speaker 2: guys love to talk about it, I promise, over at
- 1:26:28Speaker 2: Cover One. So learn about the game a little bit more.
- 1:26:31Speaker 2: Learn about the foundation. If you can go help out,
- 1:26:34Speaker 2: go help youth football. Go help youth football. If you've
- 1:26:36Speaker 2: got a couple hours a week, see if you can
- 1:26:38Speaker 2: go help out in peewee or flag football. And if
- 1:26:41Speaker 2: you love the game, learn about it a little bit.
- 1:26:43Speaker 2: Ask these guys questions. Go help out at your local
- 1:26:45Speaker 2: rec center. Go help out anywhere you can to keep
- 1:26:48Speaker 2: growing the game. Love football, man.
- 1:26:50Speaker 1: Yeah, I love football. That was a nice one. Nice sentiment.
- 1:26:53Speaker 1: Nice sentiment, and I appreciate the kind words from me.
- 1:26:54Speaker 1: I appreciate you taking the time. Enjoy the rest of
- 1:26:58Speaker 1: your Tuesday. Godspeed. I will see you around the Twitterverse.
- 1:27:02Speaker 1: I will DM you after this to sing your praises
- 1:27:04Speaker 1: some more, and thank you again in formal fashion and
- 1:27:07Speaker 1: with words. But, yeah, I appreciate you as always. It's
- 1:27:10Speaker 1: a nice tradition we've created here. Enjoy your Tuesday. I'll
- 1:27:12Speaker 1: see you around.
- 1:27:13Speaker 2: Go Ravens. Godspeed.
- 1:27:15Speaker 1: Mr. Spencer Schultz on Twitter only, I believe, at Ravens4. Dummies.
- 1:27:25Speaker 1: Good guy. Knows his stuff. Elaborates a lot. Don't be uncovered.
- 1:27:31Speaker 1: That's fair. That is fair. Yeah. That's a good point, too.
- 1:27:34Speaker 1: Those little nuances.
- 1:27:35Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:27:35Speaker 1: How many on the line? Who has to be eligible?
- 1:27:38Speaker 1: Who's not? All those little positional aspects of football, I think,
- 1:27:41Speaker 1: that are things that can get lost from time to time.
- 1:27:45Speaker 1: You know what should not get lost? The website address
- 1:27:49Speaker 1: for One Pie Pizza. The phone number. for one pie pizza.
- 1:27:53Speaker 1: The reason you shouldn't lose that information is because it
- 1:27:55Speaker 1: is the best pizza in Buffalo, New York. I do
- 1:27:58Speaker 1: not say that lightly. I do not say that because
- 1:28:01Speaker 1: they sponsor the show. They sponsor the show because I
- 1:28:03Speaker 1: sincerely believe one pie pizza is the best pizza in Buffalo,
- 1:28:09Speaker 1: New York. RJ, I believe is still here watching live
- 1:28:12Speaker 1: in the chat. RJ knows firsthand. RJ has come in
- 1:28:15Speaker 1: from Rochester multiple times. He's gotten one pie pizza because
- 1:28:18Speaker 1: we talk about it on the show. He thought it
- 1:28:21Speaker 1: was absolutely phenomenal. RJ is a lot more creative than me.
- 1:28:24Speaker 1: I'm a simple man. Appreciate the acknowledgement of my smoothness
- 1:28:28Speaker 1: in the chat. Thank you very much. I'm a simple
- 1:28:31Speaker 1: man when it comes to pizza, cheese and pepperoni, and
- 1:28:33Speaker 1: a cup of blue cheese. I'm good to go. Uh,
- 1:28:35Speaker 1: I will get the cover one pizza that they named
- 1:28:37Speaker 1: after us at one pie, the cover one, Alan goat,
- 1:28:40Speaker 1: you know, got some cover one to it. It's got
- 1:28:42Speaker 1: some Josh Allen to it and a whole bunch of deliciousness.
- 1:28:45Speaker 1: I am, but I'm a simple guy. RJ likes to do,
- 1:28:48Speaker 1: you know, he's putting some honey on stuff. He's getting
- 1:28:51Speaker 1: different toppings on it. He's, he's a lot more creative.
- 1:28:54Speaker 1: You can get as creative as you want. You can
- 1:28:56Speaker 1: keep it simple, whatever you do. You will sincerely not
- 1:28:59Speaker 1: be disappointed. Yes, RJ says he's going to try the
- 1:29:01Speaker 1: buffalo chicken pizza next. And that is phenomenal. Again, everything
- 1:29:05Speaker 1: they do is phenomenal. Even their salads are good. I
- 1:29:07Speaker 1: hate salad. It's just leaves. Like, I'm not a rabbit.
- 1:29:10Speaker 1: I'm not trying to just eat leaves. But even their
- 1:29:12Speaker 1: salads are good. Like, it's just so good. They do
- 1:29:15Speaker 1: breakfast pizzas that are phenomenal. We've got Toys for Tots
- 1:29:19Speaker 1: coming up. in November with them. Holidays are around the corner.
- 1:29:25Speaker 1: You folks know how much I love Christmas as evidenced
- 1:29:27Speaker 1: by the fact that I have a Christmas tree up
- 1:29:29Speaker 1: all year round and I decorate it with different holiday things.
- 1:29:31Speaker 1: But I love the holidays, but I also recognize that
- 1:29:35Speaker 1: the holidays are not sometimes the most joyous times for
- 1:29:39Speaker 1: some people. So I'm big on donations and gift giving
- 1:29:42Speaker 1: in whatever form or fashion you can do. So I
- 1:29:44Speaker 1: love that One Pie does a massive, massive Toys for
- 1:29:47Speaker 1: Tots drive every year. We have a lot of cool
- 1:29:49Speaker 1: things to tie into this year's Toys for Tots in
- 1:29:51Speaker 1: terms of Prizes for those of you who bring in toys.
- 1:29:54Speaker 1: So I'll be talking about that in the coming weeks
- 1:29:55Speaker 1: and coming month. But yeah, get yourself some one-pie pizza.
- 1:29:58Speaker 1: They're really good people making really good food. You know,
- 1:30:02Speaker 1: get yourself some pizza for the Thursday night football game,
- 1:30:05Speaker 1: for the Bills game on Sunday, some Saturday college football stuff,
- 1:30:08Speaker 1: or any other day of the week. You will not
- 1:30:10Speaker 1: be disappointed. RJ says, it's still my favorite pizza was
- 1:30:14Speaker 1: that pepperoni, hot honey, and ricotta drizzle. That is the
- 1:30:17Speaker 1: best pizza combo I have ever had. RJ sent me
- 1:30:20Speaker 1: a picture when he got it. He tagged me on Twitter.
- 1:30:23Speaker 1: It looked absolutely phenomenal. Yeah, you can't go wrong. You
- 1:30:26Speaker 1: can get something creative. You can doctor it up however
- 1:30:29Speaker 1: you want it. You can order online. You can call
- 1:30:30Speaker 1: them on the phone. You can get the regular standard
- 1:30:33Speaker 1: pie of any kind or, yeah, kind of create your own.
- 1:30:36Speaker 1: And whatever you have them do, they will do it
- 1:30:39Speaker 1: with effort and creativity and quality. Just everything they do
- 1:30:43Speaker 1: is phenomenal. So get yourself some one pie pizza if
- 1:30:45Speaker 1: you have not already ordered. You will not be disappointed.
- 1:30:48Speaker 1: I'm going to throw up the banner. This is to
- 1:30:49Speaker 1: those folks because we're going to start to wind down
- 1:30:51Speaker 1: and say goodbye. I am looking to do a bonus
- 1:30:55Speaker 1: episode this week. I did not do an episode last
- 1:30:58Speaker 1: week due to scheduling conflicts in life. Not in a
- 1:31:03Speaker 1: bad way. Just couldn't get to it. I wanted to
- 1:31:06Speaker 1: do something at the back end of last week. I
- 1:31:07Speaker 1: did not. So I'm looking to do a bonus episode.
- 1:31:10Speaker 1: this week in terms of focusing on what we need
- 1:31:14Speaker 1: to and should hope to see from the bills defense
- 1:31:18Speaker 1: coming out of the buy. I'm probably going to record
- 1:31:20Speaker 1: it offline, a little shorter form, 20 to 30 minutes.
- 1:31:24Speaker 1: I always say that. And then I talk too much.
- 1:31:25Speaker 1: It ends up being 45 to an hour. I'm looking
- 1:31:27Speaker 1: to drop that at the back end of this week.
