Transcript
- 0:01Speaker 1: You're listening to Hawk Talk with former Seahawks wide receiver
- 0:04Speaker 1: Michael Bumpus.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Play fake going to roll right, dumps it off into
- 0:07Speaker 2: the right flass to Michael Bumpers, who bounces off a
- 0:10Speaker 2: one tackler gets inside the forty down of the thirty
- 0:12Speaker 2: five yard line.
- 0:13Speaker 1: Powered by Seahawks dot Com, Matt Pumpfak's looking at the
- 0:16Speaker 1: gold line.
- 0:17Speaker 3: He throws it into the m zone.
- 0:18Speaker 1: Touchdown, Saehawks.
- 0:20Speaker 2: It's Michael Bumpas with a diving catching the end zone.
- 0:23Speaker 2: A ten yard touchdown reception for Bumpers, and the kid
- 0:27Speaker 2: out of Washington State has found himself a place on
- 0:30Speaker 2: this team.
- 0:31Speaker 1: Now here's your host, Nasa Chobee.
- 0:35Speaker 4: The Seahawks get a huge, thrilling victory on throwback Day
- 0:39Speaker 4: Lewinfield as they take down the Browns twenty four to twenty.
- 0:42Speaker 4: A lot of things that happened that game, up and down,
- 0:44Speaker 4: good and bad and everything in between. So to break
- 0:47Speaker 4: down that game and everything we saw yesterday, let's bring
- 0:49Speaker 4: in our guy, the big man in front, Ray Roberts
- 0:52Speaker 4: in the trenches.
- 0:55Speaker 1: It's time to go inside the trenches with former Seahawks
- 0:59Speaker 1: Ray Roberts.
- 1:01Speaker 3: Right now.
- 1:01Speaker 4: It wasn't the cleanest or prettiest win by any means,
- 1:04Speaker 4: but in typical Seahawk fashion, they found a way to
- 1:06Speaker 4: get it done.
- 1:07Speaker 3: What'd you make it?
- 1:08Speaker 4: The Seahawks offense and kind of worthy are right now?
- 1:10Speaker 4: They score seventeen straight, looks like they can't do anything wrong.
- 1:13Speaker 4: They do nothing for seven drives, turning the ball over twice,
- 1:16Speaker 4: but then when it's the most important, get it done
- 1:18Speaker 4: with the game on the line.
- 1:19Speaker 3: What'd you see from the Seahawks offense yesterday?
- 1:22Speaker 5: Well, the first thing I'll say is that we didn't
- 1:25Speaker 5: see a whole lot of Miles Garrett, which was a
- 1:28Speaker 5: good thing, you know what I'm saying. So they had
- 1:29Speaker 5: a good plan for attacking him. Watching the film back,
- 1:33Speaker 5: they had some you know, every now and then Charles
- 1:35Speaker 5: would have some help on that side, but he also
- 1:37Speaker 5: went to the played over our right tackle as well, and.
- 1:41Speaker 6: Stone and Peters did a good job over there. I
- 1:44Speaker 6: think that.
- 1:46Speaker 5: The opposing team's defenses after our first couple of drives,
- 1:51Speaker 5: have found a way to get us out of our rhythm.
- 1:53Speaker 6: Now, the Browns.
- 1:55Speaker 5: Defense is the number one ranked defense in the league,
- 1:57Speaker 5: so you know at some point they're going to be
- 1:59Speaker 5: the number one defense as they're playing, so it made
- 2:01Speaker 5: it a little bit difficult, but I think the Seahawks
- 2:04Speaker 5: need to really be able to get into their rhythms
- 2:07Speaker 5: and keep that rhythm established. One of the things even
- 2:11Speaker 5: yesterday was the running game. I think the Charbonay and
- 2:14Speaker 5: Walker combined for thirteen carries in one hundred and nineteen yards,
- 2:18Speaker 5: and I mean thirteen carries wouldn't be enough for just
- 2:21Speaker 5: one of them, So I'm not sure if that was
- 2:23Speaker 5: the game plan going into it, but maybe a couple
- 2:25Speaker 5: of the turnovers, you know, the interceptions, maybe got them.
- 2:28Speaker 6: Out of it.
- 2:29Speaker 5: But I do think that they're kind of in this
- 2:32Speaker 5: surviving advance mode. Man, Like it doesn't look pretty, but
- 2:35Speaker 5: the wins are pretty. So they find themselves in first
- 2:38Speaker 5: place and the only two losses and finding a way
- 2:41Speaker 5: to win football games.
- 2:43Speaker 7: I'm going to ask the more important question. Big Ray
- 2:46Speaker 7: had them jerseys to look out there. Man, you like
- 2:48Speaker 7: them new jerseys.
- 2:51Speaker 5: You know what?
- 2:51Speaker 6: But this is what I'm not even gonna lie. Like.
- 2:53Speaker 5: I didn't want to say anything during the game because
- 2:56Speaker 5: I didn't want to jinx the team, but I was like,
- 3:00Speaker 5: love these jerseys. But man, I saw a lot of
- 3:02Speaker 5: losses in these jerseys. My first year we were two
- 3:07Speaker 5: and fourteen, but second year we were six and ten,
- 3:10Speaker 5: and I think we have gone six and ten again,
- 3:12Speaker 5: and then eight and eight and so and so I
- 3:15Speaker 5: was just like, man like, maybe these aren't the jerseys,
- 3:18Speaker 5: you know what I'm saying. So it was kind of
- 3:19Speaker 5: good to see them pull out the wind the way
- 3:22Speaker 5: that they pulled out the wind.
- 3:24Speaker 6: And then I just love the way those silver helmets
- 3:26Speaker 6: were just popping. Man. It seemed like they were glowing
- 3:28Speaker 6: in the daytime.
- 3:29Speaker 5: So they to me, like, what is it the song
- 3:33Speaker 5: back in the day from Outcast? So fresh and so plain.
- 3:36Speaker 5: That's what they look like to me. They're just different
- 3:38Speaker 5: than than what they have. The color pop like, it's
- 3:41Speaker 5: not like the darker blue that we have now. I mean,
- 3:43Speaker 5: I wouldn't be opposed to that. Ben like a a
- 3:47Speaker 5: more occurring situation.
- 3:50Speaker 7: Yeah, I'm with the Army Center. I like the fill there,
- 3:53Speaker 7: all right. So now now to the football question. Man,
- 3:57Speaker 7: I'm looking at this team and you mentioned they're in
- 4:00Speaker 7: survival mode, right, And that's what I felt like Gino
- 4:04Speaker 7: was in kind of because he made those mistakes early,
- 4:07Speaker 7: but he was still able to come back lead the
- 4:10Speaker 7: team on a game winning drive. Have we found out
- 4:13Speaker 7: anything about Gino? I mean, is he What are your
- 4:16Speaker 7: thoughts on Gino this year so far? Because it hasn't
- 4:18Speaker 7: been the fairy tale year from last year, right, There's
- 4:21Speaker 7: been some some trials here, but he's still finding a
- 4:23Speaker 7: way to lead his team.
- 4:25Speaker 6: Well. I think the thing that people.
- 4:27Speaker 5: Don't understand is leadership comes in different forms and fashions.
- 4:32Speaker 5: Like some dudes are more vocal, Some dudes lead from behind,
- 4:36Speaker 5: some dudes lead from the front, some dudes you know,
- 4:38Speaker 5: lead from the middle of women, uh lead from you know,
- 4:41Speaker 5: all over the place. But Gino is a dude who's
- 4:46Speaker 5: uh steadfastness, like his ability to remain calm. He can
- 4:50Speaker 5: show frustration, like you can see him sitting on the bench,
- 4:53Speaker 5: you can tell he's a little frustrated at himself for
- 4:55Speaker 5: you know, for for for the interceptions, But like we
- 4:59Speaker 5: said in the postgame, he leaves it on the bench
- 5:01Speaker 5: when he gets back in the huddle for the next drive.
- 5:04Speaker 5: You don't feel like it's part of who he is.
- 5:06Speaker 5: And so he's still he's still able to go out
- 5:07Speaker 5: there and play free. And I think as a as
- 5:10Speaker 5: a teammate that allows that brings you comfort. It allows
- 5:13Speaker 5: you to go like, Okay, we're good, Geno's good, I'm good,
- 5:16Speaker 5: and so so I'm just gonna go out here and
- 5:17Speaker 5: do my thing, because I can imagine if you're frustrated
- 5:20Speaker 5: and you're panicking, you know, in the huddle, then man,
- 5:23Speaker 5: that may cause Charles Cross.
- 5:24Speaker 6: The panic and now he's having a more difficult time
- 5:27Speaker 6: with Miles Garrett than he needed. But they were.
- 5:30Speaker 5: All able to be locked in when they needed to
- 5:32Speaker 5: be locked in.
- 5:33Speaker 6: And Gino has a I think that's his superpower.
- 5:35Speaker 5: It's just to be able to be like Tefla and
- 5:38Speaker 5: like nothing sticks to him, you know, and he's able
- 5:40Speaker 5: to kind of show back up as his full authentic
- 5:43Speaker 5: self and play the next series or the next down,
- 5:45Speaker 5: and I think that's that's what allows him to come.
- 5:47Speaker 6: Through with that game. Would drive right there.
- 5:49Speaker 4: Then that's a great point Ray too, because the one
- 5:52Speaker 4: thing you noticed about Geno Smith is he's a first
- 5:54Speaker 4: one on the field, sprinting on the field, no matter
- 5:56Speaker 4: what happened the possession beforehand, and.
- 5:58Speaker 3: You're totally right by that for sure.
- 6:00Speaker 4: I wish I had some of the resilience that Number
- 6:03Speaker 4: seven has for the Seahawks, but you know, the offense
- 6:06Speaker 4: in the team in general for a lot of that game,
- 6:08Speaker 4: you know, and use a baseball analogy. They didn't have
- 6:10Speaker 4: their fastball, but they still found a way to get
- 6:12Speaker 4: the job done. That's got to build confidence at some point, right,
- 6:15Speaker 4: So the Seahawks are now stacking wings. We talked about
- 6:17Speaker 4: a lot in the post game show. They're five and two,
- 6:20Speaker 4: right now, what kind of confidence should they have going
- 6:22Speaker 4: in just taking down the number one defense in the
- 6:24Speaker 4: league and then getting ready to face another really good
- 6:26Speaker 4: defense in Baltimore.
- 6:28Speaker 5: Well, I think the confidence you have. And Neil Pete
- 6:31Speaker 5: loves these types of games because, if you think about it,
- 6:34Speaker 5: most of the games the NFL are.
- 6:35Speaker 6: Like one score games. So you're going to be in tight,
- 6:38Speaker 6: difficult games.
- 6:39Speaker 5: And last yesterday, you're planning us the number one defense
- 6:42Speaker 5: and the hottest defensive player in the entire league, and
- 6:46Speaker 5: so you found a wave to be down and then come.
- 6:50Speaker 6: Back and even win the game versus that defense.
- 6:53Speaker 5: And so just being able to show the resilience and
- 6:56Speaker 5: show the ability has always compete.
- 6:58Speaker 6: All those messages that Pete gives just you always.
- 7:01Speaker 5: Compete, earn everything, all that kind of stuff, All of
- 7:04Speaker 5: that stuff rings so true when you can win a.
- 7:06Speaker 6: Game like that, so then you know that you have
- 7:09Speaker 6: that in your hip pocket.
- 7:10Speaker 5: You have that is something you can always call on
- 7:12Speaker 5: because you've done it multiple times already this season and
- 7:15Speaker 5: so so now you know, if you start getting into
- 7:17Speaker 5: a good rhythm, defense is playing ball, getting off the
- 7:20Speaker 5: field offices, you start.
- 7:22Speaker 6: To score points. Man when in when is some of
- 7:24Speaker 6: the easier games. Or you know, when you when you're.
- 7:27Speaker 5: Up big won't be that big a deal because you're
- 7:29Speaker 5: you're already confident that if it gets close, we're good.
- 7:33Speaker 5: And that's good for the young guys to know. You know,
- 7:35Speaker 5: it's good for like the Witherspoons, It's good for even
- 7:38Speaker 5: Charles cross Is in the second year. It's good for uh,
- 7:41Speaker 5: you know, for Stone Foresights, who's getting more playing time.
- 7:44Speaker 5: It's good for Anthony Bradford, who's who's a first year player.
- 7:47Speaker 6: You know, it's good for Wool, you know Woland, you
- 7:50Speaker 6: know all those dudes that have been around and this
- 7:52Speaker 6: message and it's new to them. When you get to deliver.
- 7:55Speaker 5: A message, then live the message, and then accomplish and
- 7:59Speaker 5: succeed with them message, it's just.
- 8:00Speaker 6: More integrated.
- 8:03Speaker 8: Big Gray.
- 8:03Speaker 7: I saw something I've never seen before in a football field.
- 8:05Speaker 7: I saw a header turned it into an interception.
- 8:08Speaker 6: Man.
- 8:08Speaker 7: Jamal had him rushing, the passer gets up in the air,
- 8:12Speaker 7: tilts his forehead forward and uh in Julian Love. Sometimes
- 8:16Speaker 7: when I see that play, I just think, man, sometimes
- 8:19Speaker 7: when you're playing good things, just literally go your way. Man,
- 8:22Speaker 7: what are your thoughts on this defense? And just with
- 8:24Speaker 7: the intensity and speed they're playing with, well, you know what.
- 8:27Speaker 5: Like this, it's really hard to kind of put your
- 8:30Speaker 5: finger on it, but there is something about the energy
- 8:33Speaker 5: that Witherspoon and Jamal Adams bring. It's almost like they
- 8:39Speaker 5: are going to force something to happen, like just just
- 8:42Speaker 5: their their energy and their intensity along.
- 8:44Speaker 6: So just a random I'm gonna jump up and maybe
- 8:47Speaker 6: try to swipe the ball. Here comes the ball at
- 8:49Speaker 6: my head. I don't know.
- 8:50Speaker 5: It looked like he ducked his head to hit the ball.
- 8:52Speaker 5: And you know, but like you you you force something
- 8:55Speaker 5: to happen. And uh. And I think that the defenses
- 8:58Speaker 5: in that place, if you watch the defensive line man
- 9:01Speaker 5: Jared Reid and Jones and shoot Edwards, they're playing consistently
- 9:09Speaker 5: on the other side on the offensive line side of
- 9:11Speaker 5: the of the line of scrimmage. That's making something happen
- 9:15Speaker 5: because now the running back has to go like, well, man,
- 9:17Speaker 5: I can't I can't hit the hole to where I want.
- 9:19Speaker 6: I'm have to make a cut right as I get
- 9:21Speaker 6: the ball. Well, now that you're buying time for the
- 9:23Speaker 6: linebackers to get downhill and make tackles. So you see
- 9:25Speaker 6: a better play out of Bobby.
- 9:27Speaker 5: You see better tackles that added around the line of
- 9:29Speaker 5: scrimmage by Brooks, and so it just makes everything better
- 9:32Speaker 5: when you're able to make things happen versus reacting to
- 9:36Speaker 5: things happen. And I think they have the players on
- 9:38Speaker 5: the field, I think, you know, really led by Jamal
- 9:41Speaker 5: and with a school that are made things happen type
- 9:44Speaker 5: of players.
- 9:46Speaker 6: Ray.
- 9:46Speaker 4: Last thing for me, back on the offensive side, Jason
- 9:49Speaker 4: Peters got a lot of play was in on that
- 9:51Speaker 4: final drive at forty one years old, which is unbelievably
- 9:54Speaker 4: impressive in that fact alone. But this offensive line has
- 9:58Speaker 4: had a ton of different moving parts. So stone Forth
- 10:00Speaker 4: pist Jay Kerrhan as the Seahawks are waiting for Abe
- 10:04Speaker 4: Lucas to get back, where do you think this offensive
- 10:07Speaker 4: line is and how.
- 10:11Speaker 3: How much of a.
- 10:11Speaker 4: Strength do you think they can be once they get
- 10:13Speaker 4: back to full strength that you know on this team,
- 10:16Speaker 4: once everyone's back and healthy, how good can this unit look,
- 10:18Speaker 4: especially with now Jason Peters added to the fold, And
- 10:21Speaker 4: how can they get that running back, that running back
- 10:23Speaker 4: room in that game where it needs to be.
- 10:26Speaker 5: Well, I'll put it this way, NASA, the offensive line room.
- 10:29Speaker 6: To me, they have a room full of starters now
- 10:32Speaker 6: like you normally have. You know, obviously these are the
- 10:34Speaker 6: dudes that are backing up.
- 10:36Speaker 5: But the backups have played so much and they've played
- 10:39Speaker 5: not just like cleanup minutes, they've played meaningful games, and
- 10:42Speaker 5: they've played meaningful plays, and they've been in the last
- 10:46Speaker 5: minute drive to win the game and all that kind
- 10:47Speaker 5: of stuff. So their awareness and their experience level has
- 10:52Speaker 5: risen like more than just a backup. And so as
- 10:56Speaker 5: the hardest thing will just be finding a rhythm of
- 10:58Speaker 5: the players that defy guys are going to play the
- 11:01Speaker 5: best together, you know.
- 11:02Speaker 6: So and to me at this point, I.
- 11:03Speaker 5: Think as Cross as Lewis, as Brown, Bradford, and then
- 11:08Speaker 5: Abe whenever he's back, and then Stone forsythe just looks
- 11:12Speaker 5: better on the right side than the left side. And
- 11:14Speaker 5: then Jason Peters yesterday, Like I was one that was saying, like, hey,
- 11:18Speaker 5: maybe he needs to be on the inside because he's
- 11:19Speaker 5: forty one years old and the quickness.
- 11:21Speaker 6: And all that stuff.
- 11:22Speaker 5: Man, he didn't seem to have a problem with that.
- 11:24Speaker 5: He looked just as smooth as he's always looked. He
- 11:26Speaker 5: looked in shape, you know, he looked strong. You know,
- 11:30Speaker 5: the sack that Myles Garrett had, I think he maybe
- 11:32Speaker 5: overset a little bit to the outside of the defensive
- 11:36Speaker 5: end and then he had to step up and then
- 11:37Speaker 5: the guy did Miles kind of slid off of Charles
- 11:40Speaker 5: Cross and made the sack. But for the most part,
- 11:42Speaker 5: he played a little over probably half the game.
- 11:45Speaker 6: I think he came in like right before the end
- 11:46Speaker 6: of the second second quarter and then played the rest
- 11:48Speaker 6: of the game. I thought he did a pretty good job.
- 11:51Speaker 6: I love where this offensive line is.
- 11:53Speaker 5: I love the way the guys that have come in
- 11:55Speaker 5: have responded. You know, even Jake Kerhan his worst game
- 12:00Speaker 5: was the Cincinnati game, and he was playing with a
- 12:01Speaker 5: bad ankle, so so you.
- 12:03Speaker 6: Know, he's done well. When he was in there.
- 12:05Speaker 5: He got a couple snaps a guard in the first
- 12:08Speaker 5: half when Bradford went out for whatever reason. So they
- 12:11Speaker 5: have a bunch of dudes that can play. I do
- 12:14Speaker 5: think that one lineup is the best lineup, and when
- 12:16Speaker 5: they get it back, I think they'll they'll make their
- 12:19Speaker 5: hate in the run game and do well in.
- 12:20Speaker 6: The past past protection.
- 12:22Speaker 4: Love to hear you heard her here first, the guy
- 12:24Speaker 4: who knows about offensive line play, Ray Roberts appreciate jopping on.
- 12:27Speaker 3: Ray. You can hear Ray on the huddle every week.
- 12:29Speaker 4: You can hear him obviously on pre post game on Sunday,
- 12:31Speaker 4: as well as as his Big Raised Garage Grind Mental
- 12:34Speaker 4: Health podcast right here on the Seahawks Podcast network.
- 12:36Speaker 3: Ray appreciate jopping on with us.
- 12:38Speaker 6: Man, Thanks right, yes, sure, peace.
- 12:41Speaker 4: All right, Now, let's get back into this matchup, breaking
- 12:44Speaker 4: it down when it happened.
- 12:46Speaker 3: See what happened at first.
- 12:47Speaker 1: Left, what that happened was unhalked talk.
- 12:53Speaker 4: So get back to the nineties bub throwback day, loomingfield.
- 12:56Speaker 4: There were so much hype around this. I'm so happy
- 12:58Speaker 4: I finally came together. Man, The Seahawks on the field
- 13:00Speaker 4: looked like the Kingdome. My guy Dan Hardina shout out
- 13:03Speaker 4: to the marketing department and even brought back Montel Jordan.
- 13:06Speaker 4: This's how we do it at halftime, Bump feeling it man, Yeah.
- 13:10Speaker 7: Man, it was the nostalgia was real. I'm looking the blue.
- 13:15Speaker 7: It's that different shade of blue, you know, like even
- 13:18Speaker 7: as soon as you walk into Loomen Field, the the
- 13:21Speaker 7: coorse is all different. I felt like I was back
- 13:24Speaker 7: in the nineties with a little bit of a twist.
- 13:25Speaker 8: Man. It was a It was a fun game, for sure.
- 13:28Speaker 3: It was a lot of fun.
- 13:29Speaker 4: Our guy Paul Moyer even showed up with game war
- 13:32Speaker 4: and jerseys before the nineties, so some eighties jerseys with
- 13:35Speaker 4: built in handwarmers and whatnot.
- 13:37Speaker 3: Had Bump throw one of the jerseys on. It was
- 13:38Speaker 3: a pretty cool site.
- 13:40Speaker 4: And on the field, things started really good for the Seahawks,
- 13:42Speaker 4: about as good as you can imagine. Three and out
- 13:45Speaker 4: on the opening possession, take the ball, then go eight
- 13:47Speaker 4: plays eighty yards, ending with a three yard touchdown run
- 13:50Speaker 4: by Jake Bobbo, which is a great play call. We'll
- 13:52Speaker 4: have a little bit more of that on inside the
- 13:54Speaker 4: film room. But that set up, you know, that touchdown
- 13:57Speaker 4: was set up by a forty five yard run for
- 13:59Speaker 4: ken Wall that made the score seven. Nothing very next possession,
- 14:03Speaker 4: Jordan Brooks sacks pj waka forced fumble were covered by
- 14:06Speaker 4: boy a mate, and then six plays later Seahawks finding
- 14:10Speaker 4: himself back in the end zone is Geno Smith would
- 14:12Speaker 4: find Tyler Lockett in the back corner for a fourteen
- 14:15Speaker 4: zero Seahawk lead and bump. That was as good as
- 14:18Speaker 4: you can imagine. You're thinking at that point, Wow, they
- 14:20Speaker 4: have everything figured out. They jumped on this defense that's
- 14:23Speaker 4: the best in the NFL, and things are gonna, you know,
- 14:26Speaker 4: go well for the Seahawks.
- 14:28Speaker 7: Yeah, you jump out fourteen zero gainst the best defense
- 14:30Speaker 7: in the game. You're like, Ahi, man, we don't figure
- 14:32Speaker 7: it out. We're good to go. But then the Browns say, man,
- 14:35Speaker 7: don't forget. We got some guys over there who can play.
- 14:38Speaker 7: They go four plays, seventy five yards. Pj Wauka founded
- 14:42Speaker 7: David and Jick Joku. You know who messed me up,
- 14:46Speaker 7: Stacy Ross. She been jacking of his name all week
- 14:49Speaker 7: and she got to me jacket in Joku for a
- 14:53Speaker 7: eighteen yard touchdown. That drive was pretty, man. You saw draws,
- 14:55Speaker 7: you saw screens all in four plays. I felt like
- 14:58Speaker 7: I saw everything that football had to man. So that
- 15:01Speaker 7: made the score fourteen to seven. Then the Hawks offense
- 15:03Speaker 7: will respond. They go six plays sixty two yards. They
- 15:06Speaker 7: get into the red zone, but would have to settle
- 15:08Speaker 7: for a field goal, making it seventeen and seven. Reek
- 15:11Speaker 7: woolling Man, he finally got himself one man, I'm happy
- 15:14Speaker 7: for that guy. The next drive he gets his interceptions.
- 15:17Speaker 7: Been things starts to go a little bad for the Seahawks. Man,
- 15:20Speaker 7: they would not score on seven straight possessions. Right to
- 15:23Speaker 7: make matters worse, they playing five times and turn the
- 15:26Speaker 7: ball over twice. Gino had two interceptions. One of them
- 15:29Speaker 7: I think DK could have helped that a little bit.
- 15:31Speaker 7: The second one, I think that is a good play
- 15:33Speaker 7: call by the Browns.
- 15:34Speaker 6: Man.
- 15:34Speaker 7: They show pressure, they blitz off the ass and they
- 15:36Speaker 7: drop their nose tackle gin throws into the blitz like
- 15:39Speaker 7: you're supposed to.
- 15:40Speaker 8: But then the nose pops it up and mex it
- 15:42Speaker 8: play on the ball. Yeah.
- 15:44Speaker 2: Man.
- 15:46Speaker 4: For Seahawk fans, for a while, when we were seeing
- 15:48Speaker 4: like Poona Fords and those guys dropping back, we never
- 15:50Speaker 4: saw a play like that. We never saw play like that.
- 15:53Speaker 4: So tip your cap on that one. And you know,
- 15:56Speaker 4: after that bump, you know the Seahawks. The Browns moved
- 16:00Speaker 4: the ball and dominated time possession. Okay, they scored the
- 16:04Speaker 4: next thirteen points in the game, took a twenty to
- 16:06Speaker 4: seventeen lead. That's when it really started to get shaky
- 16:09Speaker 4: and towards the end of the game, this is when
- 16:11Speaker 4: it was go time. The Hawks would punt to the
- 16:12Speaker 4: Browns with five forty six lefts in the game. The
- 16:15Speaker 4: Browns get a couple first downs, but when the game
- 16:17Speaker 4: was really on the line, defense stepped up. Third and
- 16:19Speaker 4: three with two or four left, Hawks bring pressure Jamal
- 16:25Speaker 4: Adams off the edge, ball hits off his helmet, intentional
- 16:29Speaker 4: little peley action Jamal Adams. Then Julian Love picks up
- 16:33Speaker 4: the ball interception, setting the Seahawks up. And that was
- 16:35Speaker 4: a huge play because the Seahawks would have forced a
- 16:37Speaker 4: punt regardless, but to get the ball where they did
- 16:40Speaker 4: really set them up for that last drive. Gino went
- 16:42Speaker 4: to work after not really doing much in the second half,
- 16:44Speaker 4: he caught fire led them right down the field five
- 16:46Speaker 4: plays fifty seven yards, ending with a nine yard touchdown
- 16:50Speaker 4: from JSN Bump. Tell me about that last play and
- 16:53Speaker 4: why it was so impressive.
- 16:56Speaker 8: All man, it was cool man, it was all set
- 16:58Speaker 8: up right.
- 16:58Speaker 7: You march down the field and then you get in
- 17:00Speaker 7: the red zone and you're thinking, I'm thinking, okay, what
- 17:01Speaker 7: are they gonna do? And typically they attack the back
- 17:05Speaker 7: of the end zone in the corner. Now, Geno did
- 17:07Speaker 7: attack the back of the end zone. A scrambled play
- 17:09Speaker 7: before that to DK didn't really work out, kind of
- 17:11Speaker 7: just tossed it up.
- 17:12Speaker 8: But the Browns are bringing pressure off of both edges.
- 17:15Speaker 7: Geno's righting Geno's left, and the Browns have been manned
- 17:19Speaker 7: up that whole drive. They were manned up. They're saying, look,
- 17:21Speaker 7: we're gonna send pressure. We're gonna man up, We're gonna
- 17:23Speaker 7: lock these us down. So they send that pressure. You
- 17:25Speaker 7: lose a guy in that second level and JSON runs
- 17:28Speaker 7: a bubble screen and DK does a beautiful job. So
- 17:30Speaker 7: you run that bubble screen. DK has MDM most Dangerous Man.
- 17:35Speaker 7: So he's looking to the safety, he's looking to the corner.
- 17:37Speaker 7: He slides aside. He goes, okay, which one is it
- 17:40Speaker 7: gonna be? The corner gets the goes downhill, hands inside
- 17:44Speaker 7: and he is holding.
- 17:45Speaker 8: When you were blocking DBS, you are holding.
- 17:47Speaker 7: You just have to know when to let go, keep
- 17:49Speaker 7: your hands inside, get your elbow side, you hold the
- 17:52Speaker 7: chest play and as soon as jays N got parallel
- 17:55Speaker 7: with him, he let go. And it was the timing
- 17:57Speaker 7: of that was beautiful. If DK doesn't make that play,
- 18:00Speaker 7: you have to hold him, and if he holds on
- 18:03Speaker 7: too long, who knows what's gonna happen.
- 18:04Speaker 8: I I feel like they would have punched it in.
- 18:06Speaker 7: But how poetic is it for JS in two weeks
- 18:09Speaker 7: in a row to score touchdown and now had the
- 18:11Speaker 7: game winning one.
- 18:12Speaker 8: There great composure by that team. Love the execution.
- 18:15Speaker 4: No, great play by DK again, especially because bump then
- 18:18Speaker 4: it goes you back it up ten yard penalty. No,
- 18:21Speaker 4: who knows what could happen? Right, So great play by DK,
- 18:24Speaker 4: and man, you look at this. You look at this
- 18:26Speaker 4: box score of the Browns out game. The Seahawks thirty
- 18:28Speaker 4: three eighty five to three sixty two. They had twenty
- 18:30Speaker 4: three first down, Seahawks had fifteen time possession. They led
- 18:33Speaker 4: thirty six forty to twenty three twenty. They ran seventy
- 18:36Speaker 4: five plays to fifty three. But the Hawks, they got
- 18:39Speaker 4: it done and move into first place in the NFC West.
- 18:43Speaker 4: That's a sweet feeling right here. Bump but let's get
- 18:46Speaker 4: into the guys who made plays. Playmakers touch, playmakers, told
- 18:54Speaker 4: them what time it is? Hoak first playmaker bump. This
- 19:01Speaker 4: man has been a main stay in playmakers this season.
- 19:04Speaker 4: Number fifty six, number one in your hearts. Jordan Brooks
- 19:07Speaker 4: another ten tackles for solo, one sack, one force fumble,
- 19:11Speaker 4: and two QB hits. We said it last week, We've
- 19:14Speaker 4: kind of been saying it all over every Seahawks program
- 19:16Speaker 4: that we can talk about. Jordan Brooks is playing out
- 19:18Speaker 4: of his mind and it's gonna be deserving of some
- 19:20Speaker 4: All Pro recognition with what he's playing. He's a leader
- 19:22Speaker 4: on this field. He every time you look, fifty six
- 19:25Speaker 4: is running into football. He's fast, he's quick, He's making
- 19:28Speaker 4: plays so huge sack that led to points in Jordan Brooks,
- 19:31Speaker 4: he's his baller right now.
- 19:33Speaker 7: Yeah, Jordan Brooks making plays. It's almost they're not quiet plays.
- 19:38Speaker 7: But once you look at the stat sheet then you realize, like,
- 19:40Speaker 7: oh dang, my guy was everywhere. Another guy who was everywhere,
- 19:43Speaker 7: Boye Mafe Man g eight tackles, one TfL, four quarterback
- 19:47Speaker 7: hits in one sec. That is five straight games where
- 19:50Speaker 7: my man has had a sack that's tied for the
- 19:52Speaker 7: second longest Enfranchise history. They might have created a monster
- 19:56Speaker 7: with this one. He's an late bloomer when it comes
- 19:58Speaker 7: to football. Only started playing footba on high school, went
- 20:01Speaker 7: to the University of Minnesota, and people didn't really know
- 20:05Speaker 7: about Boy of MafA when they drafted him. And I
- 20:06Speaker 7: think the notion behind it was that, you know, he's
- 20:10Speaker 7: super athletic. We have to teach him how to be
- 20:11Speaker 7: a pro. He's looking like a pro right now.
- 20:15Speaker 4: No lies, So man, he is Boy of my FA
- 20:17Speaker 4: man number fifty three. He might lead the team in sacks.
- 20:20Speaker 7: Bump, yeah, yep, yep, go get it. Next one, Bobby Wagner.
- 20:26Speaker 7: He had thirteen tackles for one pass defendant and one
- 20:28Speaker 7: pass defendant. He had a TfL and he's the leading
- 20:31Speaker 7: tackler in the game. Bobby Wagner. Just when you think
- 20:34Speaker 7: of consistency, you think of a five four of Bobby
- 20:36Speaker 7: wags Man. I'm nice to have him back over here,
- 20:39Speaker 7: and it's like he didn't skip a beat. He's out
- 20:41Speaker 7: there making plays. Man him and Brooks. I would say,
- 20:45Speaker 7: top two or three duels in the league. Oh yeah,
- 20:48Speaker 7: no question about it.
- 20:49Speaker 4: And then and then you're pairing the outside now with
- 20:51Speaker 4: how Mafe's looking, how Daryl Terrri can look. That linebacking
- 20:55Speaker 4: corp is is outstanding for sure, staying on the outside
- 20:58Speaker 4: or in the secondary. Julian Love, he had another good game.
- 21:01Speaker 3: Last week.
- 21:01Speaker 4: We said he probably had the best game he's had
- 21:03Speaker 4: as a Seahawk. This week he had another good game,
- 21:06Speaker 4: staying on top of everything. Three tackles, one pass defend,
- 21:08Speaker 4: and and came down with that clutch interception. And here
- 21:12Speaker 4: was thinking about interceptions like that. Man tips overthrows. If
- 21:15Speaker 4: you're in the right spot doing what you're supposed to
- 21:17Speaker 4: be doing, the ball find you.
- 21:18Speaker 3: Julian Love makes a huge play to help the Seahawks.
- 21:20Speaker 7: Out right, yup, love it. Julian needs had too. Last week.
- 21:23Speaker 7: He played really good flying downhill. Everybody's made a play
- 21:26Speaker 7: on this defense so far. Next is Gino. The QB
- 21:30Speaker 7: was twenty three or thirty seven for two to fifty four.
- 21:32Speaker 7: He did have two touchdowns and he did have two interceptions.
- 21:35Speaker 7: His twelfth career game winning drive. Man, he had fifty
- 21:38Speaker 7: eight starts. I believe it was the stat you told
- 21:40Speaker 7: me yesterday. Fifty eight starts, twelve game winning drives, in
- 21:44Speaker 7: the fourth quarter or overtime. I think we can kind
- 21:47Speaker 7: of get rid of the Gino's not clutch thing now.
- 21:50Speaker 7: You know, It's kind of like when people were talking
- 21:51Speaker 7: about Lebron not being clutched. I was one of those people.
- 21:53Speaker 7: I'm not ain't no way Lebron clutched. Man, I'm Kobe
- 21:55Speaker 7: all day. But then you look at the numbers, I'm like, ah,
- 21:58Speaker 7: he clutched. That's why I'm looking at Geno Now. I
- 22:00Speaker 7: go twelve game winning drives and fifty eight starts. I
- 22:03Speaker 7: like that ratio.
- 22:04Speaker 4: Well, not to mention too, I think I saw another
- 22:05Speaker 4: stat falling off of that, as he has three of
- 22:08Speaker 4: those game winning drives the last two years. You know,
- 22:11Speaker 4: getting back to the start of last year is the
- 22:12Speaker 4: most in the NFL over Tom Brady and a couple others.
- 22:16Speaker 3: So Gino, you're doing your thing. We love you man.
- 22:19Speaker 4: Staying on the offense, Tyl Lockett eight receptions eighty one
- 22:22Speaker 4: yards on nine targets, one touchdown JSN we talked about
- 22:26Speaker 4: earlier game winning touchdown three reception thirty six yards. A
- 22:28Speaker 4: lot of guys making plays, bomb everyone making plays, but
- 22:31Speaker 4: talking about those receivers will slide right into the receiver roundup.
- 22:34Speaker 3: What do you see from that unit as a whole?
- 22:36Speaker 8: All right?
- 22:36Speaker 6: Man?
- 22:36Speaker 8: You know what?
- 22:36Speaker 7: I saw DK get a lot of targets, and if
- 22:39Speaker 7: there was any part of the game that was awful
- 22:41Speaker 7: a little bit, it was the G O DK connection.
- 22:43Speaker 6: Right.
- 22:43Speaker 7: There was a couple of footballs that are thrown in
- 22:44Speaker 7: the ground, but it's all good. He made a big
- 22:46Speaker 7: catch in that final drive and a big forty three
- 22:50Speaker 7: yard game, but he had fourteen targets for five and
- 22:52Speaker 7: sixty seven yards. Tyler Lockett had nine targets for eight receptions,
- 22:55Speaker 7: and Jigma had three catches for three for thirty six
- 22:58Speaker 7: and the game win a touchdown. Noah fen had two
- 23:01Speaker 7: for thirty two a twenty seven yard game. Second game
- 23:03Speaker 7: in a row where he comes up with a big play.
- 23:06Speaker 7: With the Titans, They're not gonna get a lot of targets,
- 23:07Speaker 7: but when they do, it seems like they come.
- 23:09Speaker 8: Through clutch with big plays.
- 23:10Speaker 7: Jake Bubbo had two receptions for twenty three yards, Zach
- 23:14Speaker 7: Sharvita had two for eleven, and ken of Walker had
- 23:16Speaker 7: one for four. Overall, there wasn't like a lot of
- 23:19Speaker 7: a lot of big plays, but there were clutch plays
- 23:21Speaker 7: being made by this group.
- 23:22Speaker 4: Gotta love it, and I think I think this Seahocks
- 23:24Speaker 4: can get that figured out. DK was under the weather.
- 23:26Speaker 4: As you mentioned earlier. You know, you're not going to
- 23:29Speaker 4: see another game like that. You're not going to see
- 23:31Speaker 4: another game where the targets are off, whether it's you know,
- 23:33Speaker 4: Dcan or whether Gino missing a couple outs. This unit
- 23:36Speaker 4: is gonna be eventually one of the best national FOOTBA
- 23:39Speaker 4: league just given the talent and who they have, So
- 23:41Speaker 4: I expect them to have a big bounce back game
- 23:43Speaker 4: in terms of, you know, target to reception ratio. But
- 23:46Speaker 4: let's get into the coaches corner. We tease it kind
- 23:48Speaker 4: of at the beginning. Here, Jake Bobo gets into the
- 23:51Speaker 4: end zone on a three yard touchdown run.
- 23:53Speaker 2: Single setback deep behind Gino, who goes under center.
- 23:57Speaker 1: Bobo goes in motion. Bobo gets the handoff, he stops.
- 24:00Speaker 2: Cuts back inside, heven touchdown. Saint Hawks.
- 24:06Speaker 1: Yo, what more Bobo?
- 24:08Speaker 3: You got it?
- 24:10Speaker 2: He's been doing that so far in this season, coming
- 24:13Speaker 2: in motion and being the leite blocker that time. He
- 24:16Speaker 2: got the handoff, stops, cuts back inside from three yards out,
- 24:22Speaker 2: dives into the end zone.
- 24:23Speaker 1: The Seahawks are on the board six.
- 24:25Speaker 8: Nothing Man one.
- 24:26Speaker 7: I want to say, you send me the clips of
- 24:29Speaker 7: these plays all the time, and we get the TV version,
- 24:33Speaker 7: so we get like the high definition.
- 24:35Speaker 8: Usually I'm watching film All twenty two is a little grainy.
- 24:37Speaker 7: Those uniforms are popping on team come on, goodness, races
- 24:42Speaker 7: it little claim.
- 24:43Speaker 8: But here's what happened. Man Rape said it.
- 24:46Speaker 7: Typically, when you're down here, inside the five, inside the
- 24:48Speaker 7: ten or whatnot, you have Bubbo on the field. You're thinking, okay,
- 24:51Speaker 7: you're taking a shot of top little fifty fifty football
- 24:53Speaker 7: or you're gonna put him in motion and use him
- 24:56Speaker 7: in the run game. So that's what they played off of.
- 24:59Speaker 7: If you look at the offensive line, I love what
- 25:01Speaker 7: they did right here because typically you use Jake Bobo
- 25:03Speaker 7: in the motion and then he's blocking like the d
- 25:06Speaker 7: N or what out on the other side and you
- 25:08Speaker 7: run opposite of him. So what they do to the
- 25:10Speaker 7: left side of the line, you have everybody down block
- 25:12Speaker 7: like you're showing zone left. You got Ken Walker in
- 25:15Speaker 7: the background. He's gonna give you that zone left action too.
- 25:18Speaker 7: On the right side, they got these guys blocking like
- 25:21Speaker 7: you're doing the jet sweep, trying to get outside, So
- 25:24Speaker 7: you leave one man on block. That is the three technique.
- 25:26Speaker 7: It's a guy in between the right guard and the
- 25:28Speaker 7: right tackle. You leave him on blocked. But you're saying, look,
- 25:31Speaker 7: Jake Bobo is gonna fly past him because he's gonna
- 25:33Speaker 7: get downhill.
- 25:34Speaker 8: He's seeing that zone action.
- 25:36Speaker 7: Also what helps is that there in man, so there's
- 25:38Speaker 7: a guy following Jake Bobo. Jake Bobo hits the breaks
- 25:41Speaker 7: instead of getting outside. I don't know this if this
- 25:43Speaker 7: is by design or did Jake Bobo just feel this?
- 25:46Speaker 8: All right?
- 25:46Speaker 7: He hits the brakes, put his right foot in the ground,
- 25:49Speaker 7: and the defense parts like the Red Sea in the
- 25:52Speaker 7: Bible when you listen to that story there, and he
- 25:54Speaker 7: puts his right foot in the ground. He gets north south.
- 25:57Speaker 7: He's a big man. He does get tackle, but he
- 25:58Speaker 7: powers through. This is a play that Shane Walderen has
- 26:02Speaker 7: had in his back pocket for like three weeks because
- 26:03Speaker 7: all right, perfect timing sound to pull this out. They
- 26:06Speaker 7: think we're gonna go zone. We'll use Jake Bobo in
- 26:08Speaker 7: the block game. Just perfect call. Everyone executed, Jake Bobo
- 26:11Speaker 7: making a play.
- 26:12Speaker 3: Yeah, I love that.
- 26:13Speaker 4: And the last part you said talking about Shane being
- 26:15Speaker 4: you know, reserving that play. That's something I think a
- 26:17Speaker 4: lot of people need to understand when they're watching games,
- 26:20Speaker 4: that the offensive coordinator might run a play a certain
- 26:22Speaker 4: way in the first quarter or second, third, or quarter
- 26:25Speaker 4: maybe in for a couple of weeks to set up
- 26:27Speaker 4: something like this down the road. And I don't know, Bump,
- 26:30Speaker 4: you would know more than I would. I'm thinking this
- 26:33Speaker 4: is just a wherewithal of Jake Bobo getting up field.
- 26:35Speaker 4: Everything to me looks like this play is supposed to
- 26:37Speaker 4: go outside. And given how the Seahawks what they put
- 26:41Speaker 4: on film, you know, a lot of teams might maybe
- 26:44Speaker 4: still wouldn't defend it. But Jake bobmanke its heads up,
- 26:46Speaker 4: play cuts up field. Knew from the corner who's in
- 26:49Speaker 4: man running across the formation. Of course, you're typically taught
- 26:52Speaker 4: to try to stay behind the motion, but he gets
- 26:55Speaker 4: in front of it because he's thinking this is going
- 26:56Speaker 4: to go outside, I think, and he's trying to get
- 26:58Speaker 4: leverage to get outside. Jake Bob puts his foot in
- 27:00Speaker 4: the ground. Knew someone under overruns it. He's in the
- 27:03Speaker 4: end zone. Touchdown, more Bobo, you got more Bobo. Jake
- 27:07Speaker 4: got it. Super cool, dude down to Earth. I love
- 27:09Speaker 4: seeing the success that he's having, and I also love
- 27:12Speaker 4: the greatest formation in football, victory formation.
- 27:15Speaker 2: Here comes the Seahawks offense onto the field and the
- 27:18Speaker 2: Vikings defense crunching out there knowing that one meal down
- 27:24Speaker 2: and the Seahawks are gonna wind the clock down and
- 27:26Speaker 2: win this one.
- 27:27Speaker 1: It's the victory formation. On Hawk Talk.
- 27:30Speaker 4: Seahawks win their third consecutive game at home and improved
- 27:32Speaker 4: a five.
- 27:33Speaker 3: And two on the season in first place in the
- 27:35Speaker 3: NFC wes.
- 27:36Speaker 4: Hawks didn't win a lot of statistical categories, but got
- 27:39Speaker 4: things done when they had to. Gino Smith up and
- 27:42Speaker 4: down game, but led the Seahawks on his twelfth game,
- 27:45Speaker 4: winning driving his career in the fourth quarter of ot
- 27:47Speaker 4: and Seahawks got it done when they needed to.
- 27:49Speaker 3: That's the thing about this team. They're resilient.
- 27:51Speaker 4: I love kind of how they're playing, and yeah, they
- 27:53Speaker 4: might not be blowing teams out, but they're getting wins.
- 27:55Speaker 3: And that's the thing. Three weeks ago, the forty nine
- 27:58Speaker 3: ers were the class of the NFL.
- 27:59Speaker 4: They're the best team or at least in the NFC,
- 28:01Speaker 4: no questions about it. They smacked Alts on Sunday Night
- 28:04Speaker 4: Football and here we are three weeks later and they're
- 28:06Speaker 4: five and three. They're in second place. So that goes
- 28:08Speaker 4: to show you it's about consistency, it's about getting wins,
- 28:11Speaker 4: and the Seahawks are doing that right now.
- 28:13Speaker 8: I love when you throw jabs at the other teams
- 28:15Speaker 8: in the division.
- 28:16Speaker 3: Oh what did I do that?
- 28:19Speaker 6: Hey?
- 28:19Speaker 7: And the old line only one sack. Now you could
- 28:22Speaker 7: guess where that sack came from. Ryan Miles Garrett, but
- 28:25Speaker 7: it didn't happen until late in the game. I predicted
- 28:27Speaker 7: he would have at least two sacks. So for this
- 28:29Speaker 7: offensive line to do that, that was great to see.
- 28:31Speaker 7: And defensively, the Hawks man ben but did not break man.
- 28:36Speaker 7: They created three turnovers. And then you gotta look at
- 28:38Speaker 7: Boy and ma faing Jordan Brooks. Great games once again,
- 28:42Speaker 7: Man Boy with his fifth sack, Jordan Brooks causing a fumble.
- 28:46Speaker 7: Beautiful game by this defense at times, look at the
- 28:49Speaker 7: yard is right. You see all the yards at Cleveland
- 28:51Speaker 7: game more than the Seahawks. But when it was time
