- 0:00When the alliance is an allies still tied to them. Just a reminder not
- 0:06just all these people in my set, but not just that, but also
- 0:10like you know, doing it on Juneteenth. And the whole point that he
- 0:14was making is that, like Drake's not part of the culture. You know
- 0:18what I'm saying, Like that all kind of makes sense, you know,
- 0:22you know, you know what also attributes to that is that that might have
- 0:27caused the delay and their response because it's like, I need to get it
- 0:31too as close as Juneteenth as possible and it should still be relevant when that
- 0:37comes out. Yeah, it's crazy though he he basically let Drake himself show
- 0:47how disconnected he was with the culture for real, because like it's it's two
- 0:52different I mean, you know, just from my vantage point, it's two
- 0:55different things. The culture as far as like hip hop culture, things like
- 1:00that and everything that includes Puerto Ricans, that includes white that includes everybody.
- 1:04You know what I'm saying, that's like a whole you know, Hispanics,
- 1:07white people, everybody's part of the hip hop culture. Black culture is a
- 1:11different thing. That's the thing that Kendrick kind of I mean, not Kendrick,
- 1:18but that's the thing that Drake kind of showed, you know, kind
- 1:23of looked foolish on because he kind of fed right into Kendrick's hand. But
- 1:27also he proved Kendrick's point basically like yeah, bro, you're showing that you're
- 1:33not connected to the black culture. Like yeah, you're you're for this culture,
- 1:38but you're not really for you know who your dad is, you know
- 1:41the actual you know the backstory behind this. Like that's another thing that they
- 1:46say about the Toronto thing, you know, being from Canada where it's like
- 1:49you're not really in the US seeing the same thing. So he's just so
- 1:53disconnected where it's like you almost can't even you know, really know what's going
- 1:57on because of it, you know what I'm saying, right, But to
- 2:00me, to me, also, one thing I've noticed, and this is
- 2:04because I know my family in the West Coast in the Bay Area still to
- 2:09this day and the music and the rappers they listen to, Drake is out
- 2:14of touch with the West Coast. Same thing as that same thing as like
- 2:17the YG I can't even think of another West Coast rapper that he has alliances
- 2:24to that tie him to the West Coast crowd and the West Coast crowd don't
- 2:28listen to his ship like that. Like my cousins don't funk with his ship
- 2:31at all. And they're younger than me, same age as me. They
- 2:35just stick to the They just stick to the strict West Coast rappers, the
- 2:38classic dudes, the black rappers, those are the people they follow. And
- 2:43that is the ties that Kendrick is also saying too. It's not just the
- 2:46black people, yeah, but also the West Coast, Yeah, because the
- 2:51West Coast is more like you like Alabasas. Yeah, people, that's not
- 2:55West Coast exactly, Like you're going to the glamorous side and you're kind of,
- 3:00you know, hanging with the stars and things like that. And it
- 3:04goes right back to the you know, taking from the culture thing. You
- 3:07know, you like to come out here and enjoy the amenities and you know
- 3:10the stuff that hip hop has afforded you, but you're not really tapped in
- 3:15like that. And he used to have a Game emember when Game had him
- 3:19on that one hundred. Yeah, and Game hasn't pushed Drake at all.
- 3:23And he went to YG and and I don't see any other West Coast rappers,
- 3:28big West Coast artists supporting Drake to this day. Right now, I
- 3:31think the more like I think the thing that like was the beginning of like
- 3:38kind of I wouldn't call it the demise of Drake because that's not going to
- 3:40happen, but just the beginning of people seeing the situation for what it really
- 3:45was, was him constantly latching on to the next big thing. Eventually,
- 3:50those big things become in the industry and it's just they're a part of the
- 3:54industry to the point where, you know what I mean, now that conversations
- 3:58are being had where the experiences are similar, and now everybody has this perspective
- 4:02of Drake being a leech, you know what I'm saying, Like you're leaching
- 4:05off the culture basically. I feel like, also, it's a thing where
- 4:10when you think about Drake and you think about, you know, the the
- 4:15situation he's in just musically and the things he does, and his coming from
- 4:21movies and TV in Canada, you know what I'm saying, Like he was
- 4:25a TV star. So it's kind of like people already had that thing in
- 4:29their head a little bit of like, Okay, so you're basically playing a
- 4:31role because this is where you came from. You know, we saw you
- 4:34publicly, how you grew up. We knew what you were about. Now
- 4:39you're telling us something different. And then on top of that, I feel
- 4:43like a big shift that happened recently was the album that he dropped. I
- 4:46don't remember the name or whatever, but it was an album that he dropped
- 4:49with a lot of features with new artists and a lot of like those legacy
- 4:54type artists. None of them were on it, you know what I'm saying,
- 4:57Like established artists, you know, like you're saying Joe, you know,
- 5:00those tapped in West Coast artists, like you're saying Joe. I mean,
- 5:04like you're saying Quincy, just like other people in the industry, like
- 5:08showing their lines or whatever. He was rapping with all these new dudes and
- 5:12rapping like them, and a lot of those dudes that he had on that
- 5:15album, like they're kind of nobody right now, you know what I'm saying,
- 5:21Like as far as the features go, and it's him attaching himself to
- 5:26those microwave artists and not really having those ties in the culture for real.
- 5:31That is kind of like coming back and biting them. Now, did we
- 5:35share the video of Pete Davison about him being on SNL. Drake being on
- 5:39SNL, Nah, I don't think we talked about that. So Pete Davison
- 5:45was Pete Rosenberg, Oh, Peter Rosenberg Okay, yeah, yeah, And
- 5:50Peter Rosenberg asked him. He's like, oh, what did Drake give y'all
- 5:54when he went to do the SNL. And he's like, oh, he's
- 5:57a great guy. He gave us like custom ov YOSNL jerseys. He's like,
- 6:01I'm gonna tell you right now, Drake is the greatest actor in the
- 6:03world. He's like, this is great. He has literally played a gangster
- 6:08rapper for twenty years and he's been so good at it. And Peter Roseberg
- 6:13Glass he's like, no, He's like, people take this as a disc
- 6:15but he's like, I'm trying to tell you he has literally played this character
- 6:18of being a gangster rapper. He has played a character that he found fit
- 6:23and that people believe for all this time. And he's he's like and he's
- 6:28just he's like, he's a super sweet fucking guy. He's like, he's
- 6:30not a gangster at all. He's a really nice fucking dude. But he's
- 6:33an actor and he plays this character to be an artist, and he successfully
- 6:39developed the career for me. And this is like one of the most hidden
- 6:43quotes I've ever seen that doesn't go viral, and it explains a lot about
- 6:46who Drake is. Yeah, and that's why Kendrick Kulibar called him b rap
- 6:51for Malibu's Most Wanted Yeah, literally don't be Yeah it is. It's something
- 7:00that when you grow up in that environment and you really see what it's about,
- 7:08like being around black culture, being around a hip hop culture, just
- 7:13when you see it, you know when it's real. And I feel like
- 7:15that's the thing that a lot of people that I know that don't like Drake
- 7:18that's always been their thing with him. It's like they see it and they
- 7:23can spot it from a mile away because it's something I mentioned before. Drake
- 7:26is that dude that you see at the club that you know he fake and
- 7:30he just playing for the club. I want to have one more point that
- 7:32Peter Rosenbig Murg Rosenberg made that reminded me of Lesson that He's like, that's
- 7:39the quality between me and Drake. Because I love Drake as an artist and
- 7:42I love the ship. He's really good music maker. But when he's when
- 7:46he asks add a character, I know that's not him. That's what I
- 7:50don't like. That's exactly what he said. It's like I've said before,
- 7:54Man, I can make the greatest hits of Drake's songs, and I'm not
- 7:57even a Drake fan. I can just grab his and stuff and his more
- 8:01vulnerable stuff because that's Drake to me. You know what I'm saying. You
- 8:05hear it in the music. It's real. You know what I'm saying.
- 8:07You hear it with the writing, You hear with the tones, you hear
- 8:11it with the way he's singing it. That's why he got all these ghostwriters
- 8:15for this new stuff, because it's not him, Bro, it's not authentic.
- 8:18He needs writers because he's not telling his own story. All this tough
- 8:22guy, mobster stuff that's not you, bro, that ain't even almost you.
- 8:26You know what I'm saying. It's it's it's so easy to spot when
- 8:31you when you've really seen somebody that's real. You know what I'm saying.
- 8:35Is it kind of like and sometimes I think about it, is it kind
- 8:39of like when a wrestler like, well, no, because these wrestlers,
- 8:45they're a lot true to their craft. But when a wrestler retires and you
- 8:48hear their like hall of Fame speech and you realize they were nothing who they
- 8:52played themselves out to be that we loved about them. But this is the
- 8:56difference in wrestling then music. In wrestling, he can act however he wants,
- 9:03but when he gets in the ring, you know that he's putting his
- 9:05body on the line. You can't fake that, you know what I'm saying.
- 9:09With Drake, it's like you see what he's doing and you can say,
- 9:13yeah, it's dope, But then you see quote unquote him of the
- 9:18ring, which is what he's doing, how he moves, how he operates,
- 9:22you know, like all that is calculated. That's the thing that's funny
- 9:26to me about Drake and other people like this too, because it's not just
- 9:28Drake, but Drake is very meticulous and calculated with the stuff that he lets
- 9:33out as far as information. He's very in charge of his like public perception.
- 9:39He's very choosy with like how he presents himself as far as interviews,
- 9:43different things like that. All that planning that you're doing with how you look
- 9:48to the world, and you still come off as a corn ball bro it's
- 9:54crazy, Dog, Like you're in complete control of this whole situation and you
- 9:58still look corny and we still know you ain't real, you know what I'm
- 10:01saying. And it's like, like I said, Bro, at the end
- 10:03of the day, you can't fake it. Bro. It's like this,
- 10:05like you were saying with wrestlers Joe Wrestling, you can't fake it, dog.
- 10:09You you know you throw yourself on the in the ring, it's gonna
- 10:13hurt, You're gonna see the impact. You can't fake it. When you
- 10:16see those guys that be trying to act like you know, they doing stuff
- 10:20and they trying to take those soft falls and you know, overacting so they
- 10:24don't get hit and stuff like that, that's when you know, Oh,
- 10:26he ain't about this, Bro, he ain't about this. And that's Drake
- 10:31roight, he ain't about it what we say. I like the Drake with
- 10:35the melodies. Yeah, I don't like Drake when he hacking tough Dog,
- 10:39I swear it. I was like when he said that, I was like,
- 10:41Bro, I felt so validated, Bro, because that's exactly how I
- 10:45feel. I've been saying that. But yeah, man, it looks like
- 10:48they prepping for Kendrick to come out. Y'all want to stay on for that
- 10:52or what I said with it too. We can kind of just keep talking
- 10:58about stuff or whatever were here. We can chop that up for the podcast
- 11:01feed, you know, because obviously just us watching you know, a concert
- 11:07is not going to do anything. So we'll chop this middle part that we're
- 11:11talking out. I thought it was gonna start. I'm tripping. Let me
- 11:16throw it back. You don't say like the links to the concert feeders in
- 11:20there, But I'm gonna actually, when I go back to it, I'm
- 11:24gonna load it up in Prime video because I'm I have Prime so I won't
- 11:28get any ads. I'm pulling it up right now. Yo. I was
- 11:37watching Tupac and Snoop House of Blues and Marito Americans was wanting and this literally
- 11:43brought me back to that. I was just I don't know why it was
- 11:46on there, Like I was just YouTube and I saw that I was like
- 11:48fucking missed to it, and this only brought me back to that. That's
- 11:52the only time to me back to that I brought was saying in the beginning,
- 11:56this feels like that Michael Jackson concert to me, and fucking lived up
- 12:01to the height show crazy crazy, Well, we got a two hours.
- 12:07If I'm in the show, you're gonna cut it off, always gotta cut
- 12:09it by this own. We have some good moments. No, fuck,
- 12:13wow, that's crazy. We'll do wrap up because I could do wrap up.
- 12:18Yeah, let's do it quick wrap yeah. Wow. Man, can
- 12:31imagine being there for that show though great, yoh, epic, epic.
- 12:37I would have felt like a sense of like almost like a hip hop rebird.
- 12:43Bro. That would have felt like a hip hop out there. Had
- 12:46to be the craziest feeling. Fuck. That was crazy wow. I could
- 12:52not have expected that at all, like in that capacity. Holy hell,
- 12:56Bro, I've been to one hundred one hundred festivals watching that and picture myself
- 13:03in there. And that's what I do on occasion on the weekends, I
- 13:07throw on live performances on YouTube, like if I was there. I tried
- 13:11to do some concert live performances. But what he did tonight, I haven't
- 13:16felt more than I was there than that fucking performance tonight. I really felt
- 13:22like I was fucking there. Chrast. Thanks wow man. Honestly, Bro,
- 13:30I'm just glad that we caught that and we recorded it. Because wow,
- 13:33that was that was legendary, that was all time. That's gonna be
- 13:37one of those things he's gonna be talked about in music forever. Bro.
- 13:41Thanks Wow, all right man, let's let's let's get out of here.
- 13:48This is crazy, niggas, stay but happy. June tem you feel me
- 14:13at captain apt not not cut, not not at not not, not not
