The dramatic, single-fire destruction of the Library at Alexandria (especially the Julius Caesar version) is widely regarded as overstated or mostly myth. Caesars fire in 48AD damaged part of the collection (possibly dockside warehouses holding books), but the library continued afterward. Its demise is now assumed from mere neglect, the same threat your store of knowledge faces.
