- 0:00Ms results. Hi, welcome the book watchers, where we're just a couple
- 0:47of faggots. Today, I'm obviously joined with the the biggest tallest giant,
- 1:00the fag. I don't know why, Like, wait, people don't like
- 1:04the word fact, I don't, don't, you know, Hi, this
- 1:08is Jacob's here too. If y'all don't like the word fag, I'm sorry,
- 1:15but I don't care about the connotation with that word. It's it's take
- 1:23back the word get back. Personally, Yeah, I agree. I there
- 1:30was a point where I didn't like when people called me it, just because
- 1:34like that was when I was still in the closet and I just didn't really
- 1:37want people to like have put that kind of attention on me. But now
- 1:41I don't care because like for me, I just think, like, okay,
- 1:45it used to it still kind of is a word of hate. But
- 1:48at the same time, I'm like, if I'm ever called a fag,
- 1:51because I was called a fag in like a very bigoted way at one point,
- 1:56I just I just I don't even let it bother me anymore. I'm
- 2:00I just looked back. I look him in the ad. I'm like,
- 2:00yeah, and is the problem with that exactly the fact, that's not okay
- 2:09with it. But like in my friend group, most of my friends don't
- 2:12give a ship, so we just call each other fags left and right.
- 2:15Yeah, the only people I usually call fags are well you and uh TIFFs
- 2:23sometimes and of course Dylan because you know you got put Dylan in his place.
- 2:28Damn. Oh wait, I'm sorry, No, we call him a
- 2:32brat. The brat, I'm kidding. He should probably cut that out if
- 2:39you, if you, it's gonna be so bad. We should catch up
- 2:46again. Serious, shut the fuck up. Sorry, like you're talking up.
- 2:55She's like, I'm sorry, I didn't quite catch that. I'm like,
- 2:58bitch, you're talking ship. You talking ship too, talk ship,
- 3:05Get hit high, Welcome book watchers, thank you down below. Well say
- 3:12well, give all links other podcast shows and ship the pip pops your bag.
- 3:15You know the deal? Yeah, YouTube channel friends, Yeah exactly.
- 3:23Like like tell a friend, yeah cool, tell your tell your whole family,
- 3:30and if you have, if you come from a very conservative family,
- 3:32especially tell them just so you can piss them off and tell them that this
- 3:36is an LGBTQ plus type of podcast. Just let them go in blind hell.
- 3:40Yeah, all right. I mean they may like it at first,
- 3:43because I remember early on, we weren't exactly we weren't really like really help
- 3:49pushing in the bagotry. Yeah, but now it's just shot on all over
- 3:54the places. It's on the walls, it's on the ceiling, Jesus anyway,
- 4:00everywhere. Yeah. Yeah, but you know, you en up talking
- 4:04about the gay ship instead, Let's talk about the gay ship. I let's
- 4:09say we're gonna be talking about gay shit today. Because we're gonna be talking
- 4:15about the We're gonna be talking about even gayer ship. So I'm sorry,
- 4:19I almost forgot what we were doing because it's been for us. It's been
- 4:24like a couple it's been like almost two weeks since we recorded our last episode.
- 4:30Last episode we recorded book one of the of Bear Otter and the Kid
- 4:35Chronicles. First book is the same, the same name. Now we're gonna
- 4:40be we're gonna be reviewing the next book on the series called Who we Are.
- 4:46Yay, so uh, just some like just general facts about who we
- 4:53are. This book is the direct sequel of Bear Otter and the Kid.
- 4:57Is takes place over period of six months after the last so it starts pretty
- 5:04much where the last book left off and now and then it takes place over
- 5:12a period of like about six months or so. There's a lot that happens
- 5:16in this book. We see more growth with the main characters Derek McKenna aka
- 5:24Bear, Oliver Thompson A. K Otter, and Tyson McKenna aka the Kid,
- 5:30as well as their nice little their little close knit group of friends and
- 5:38family and basically make up this whole little found family dynamic. Just like the
- 5:43first book, it is very wholesome. It deals with a lot of a
- 5:47lot of trauma. I just want to put this out there. There aren't
- 5:53any elements when I say trauma. It's just more like it's more directly concerned
- 5:59with issues of abandonment, anxiety, depression, and as well as resentment and
- 6:08bitterness as well. Because in this book, you know, just so we
- 6:15can like just cut straight to the point, we're gonna go ahead. Let's
- 6:18go ahead and just get right into the story. So where the last book
- 6:23left off, Bear in Otter reconnected. They had broken up for just a
- 6:29short period of time because Bear was threatened by his mom, the very woman
- 6:31who abandoned him in the first place. She found out about she had somehow
- 6:35found out about his relationship with Otter, and she threatened to take custody of
- 6:41the kid back if Bear didn't give into her demands by breaking up with him,
- 6:47By breaking up with Otter and not had anything to do with any kind
- 6:53of gay romantic relationship ever again, and Bear, fearfull of the of his
- 7:00little brother being taken away from him, especially by his mother who was very
- 7:04neglectful and alcoholic and who abandoned them, he acquiesced, and he ended up
- 7:11ending his relationship with Otter for a short period of time before he finally and
- 7:15very dramatically went back got back together with Otter. They reconciled, he explains
- 7:21to Otter what happened. Otter was pissed, understandably, but he was actually
- 7:29if Bear had it made the decision to like to get back together with Otter,
- 7:34Otter was actually prepared to fight for Bear like oo if only like the
- 7:40author wrote it to where like we see how Otter fights for Bear. I'm
- 7:44pretty sure this story would have been a lot juicier, But it turned out
- 7:46the way the events turned out the way they did, and now here we
- 7:50are. The last book ended with Bear and Otter moving in together. Otter
- 7:57actually bought a house for Bear, if you can believe that, And it
- 8:05was just all it was just so sweet. And now we're this so book
- 8:13two who we Are picks up where that left off. Bear and the kid,
- 8:20with the help of their family, they begin they completely move out of
- 8:22that shitty little apartment they've been living in the most of their lives. They
- 8:26end up sending giving away all of their mother's belongings that she left behind to
- 8:31goodwill because for the over the past three years, all of her stuff had
- 8:35been left behind, had been locked away in her room. They hadn't gone
- 8:39in They never once went in there for any reason because there's just, you
- 8:43know, a lot of negative memories associated with that room, too much association
- 8:50with their mom. Now that they're moving out and into a new house,
- 8:52they decide, all right, you're out, toss that ships to the curb,
- 8:58and they move into the Green their house they which they so eloquently call
- 9:03the green Monstrosity mm hmm, because it is paint. Because the house is
- 9:07painted a horrendous shade of greed. Like I can't I'm trying. I'm having
- 9:15a hard time imagining this color. But I'm pretty sure like from what I
- 9:22believe, TI describes it as like some sort of like something like radioactive monster
- 9:26snot but yeah. But oddly enough, despite the fact that they hate the
- 9:35color of the house, they never repaint it. They they at one once
- 9:41they move in. They don't even bother repainting it. They just leave it
- 9:43like that, and it just kind of has its own charm. The color
- 9:48of the house gives it that sort of charm. The house like represents a
- 9:52new beginning for the for this new family, for this family, because it's
- 9:58marks the start of Bear in Otter's full relationship together. They're no longer hiding
- 10:05the relationship from their friends and family. They're completely out about it. There
- 10:11was a moment where there's a moment in this book where they're in Otter,
- 10:18do you have to tell the news to their to Otter's parents about the relationship,
- 10:24because in the last book, Otter's parents were not really around. They
- 10:30were on this extended vacation and now they had come back. And think about
- 10:35Otter's parents is that they're not bad people. However, they kind of got
- 10:43on my shit list for this scene. And I'm pretty sure any other person
- 10:48who read this book probably like doesn't really have that much of a good opinion
- 10:52about them, despite like later on, how much character development they have.
- 10:56Later so, when Otter and Bear tell his parents, that tell Otter's parents
- 11:03that they're in a relationship together, his parents don't really take it very well.
- 11:11While they accept it, the reaction is not what they would have expected.
- 11:16And Otter has already felt some resentment towards his parents because when he came
- 11:24out originally, like I believe it came out like right when he graduated high
- 11:28school pretty early on, his parents didn't really take it so well. It's
- 11:35not like they were being homophobic. It was just more of like, I
- 11:39don't want to say it was like concerned, but it's just more of like
- 11:43they weren't exactly happy about it. And later on they find out they find
- 11:48out later that their their parents' reaction is really from a negative experience because Otter
- 11:56had an uncle who was gay, but unfortunately he was a gay man in
- 12:01the eighties and the nineties during the AIDS epidemic, and unfortunately his uncle contracted
- 12:11Yeah, his uncle contracted eight AIDS and died from due to complications from it.
- 12:18And his parents the thing is is that it was hard for them because
- 12:24for Starters, they didn't know his uncle was gay, and when they found
- 12:28out that he got AIDS, it basically from it was they were able to
- 12:33put two and two together, like, oh shit, so you mean you
- 12:37were gay and you got and you got sick from it, and like I
- 12:41guess like for them, it was just there that their bad reaction was more
- 12:45of concern for Otter's safety because you know, I mean, I'm sure for
- 12:48a lot of people, the AIDS epidemic was really traumatizing because there's so many
- 12:52people getting it. It affected it didn't just affect the gay community. But
- 12:58the thing is, unfortunately the gay community was the one that was highlighted and
- 13:01targeted because of it. But they were like the central highlight of the aid
- 13:07of the AIDS epidemic. So and it doesn't help that the that AIDS is
- 13:15considered the gay buyers too. Yeah, So that is the reasoning. And
- 13:22although and then later on Bear and Otter were able to work it out with
- 13:26his parents with Otter's parents and reconcile, but it's not really and it doesn't
- 13:33really cause any issues for them in the future. It's kind of hilarious how
- 13:37they came out to his parents because the thing is Bear is a is a
- 13:43stupidly lightweight when it comes to alcohol. You give him like one, you
- 13:48give him like one glass of wine, and suddenly he's like, like he
- 13:52he can't. So Bear is neurotic. I think I've said that in the
- 13:56last it's very neurotic. I think I said that in the last episode.
- 14:01I think he gets pretty spassy, and he has yeah, and he tends
- 14:05to get like his mind tends to like when he's panicking, he tends his
- 14:09mind tends to go off on this whole tangent and he begins to like have
- 14:16these weird fantasies of like completely unrealistic scenarios. I think those are called intrusive
- 14:20thought, like intrusive thoughts, and he has a hard time keeping those intrusive
- 14:24thoughts to himself. So he'll often like blurt out random things and people look
- 14:28at him like, Okay, where did okay, in what scenario did this?
- 14:33Like, so, where did you get that from? Out of this
- 14:37whole thing that's upsetting you? Where did you how did you come to that
- 14:39conclusion? Like but so basically, so whenever Bear drinks that that dials up
- 14:50from ten to twenty, and so like since like he was he had,
- 14:56like he already had like a couple of glasses of wine, and Otter was
- 14:58like encouraging him, like all right, baby, you ready rate it's all
- 15:01them. Bear started freaking out, and he ended up like blurting out like
- 15:05not just like the fact that he and Otter are in a relationship to Otter's
- 15:09parents, but like the whole story, like from like what happened to like
- 15:16what happened with the fact that technically Bear had an emotional affair with Otter while
- 15:20he was still with Anna, but also the fact that Anna and Creed are
- 15:26together, and that Bear and Otter are together. And then they broke up
- 15:31for a bit because because Bear's mom came back and threatened him if he didn't
- 15:35break up with Otter, she'd take the kid. And then they got back
- 15:37together and now they lived together, and Otter bought the house for Bear and
- 15:41now they're basically living there happily ever after. So it just all came spilling
- 15:46out in one long tangent, and it's hilarious, and this happens multiple times
- 15:50throughout this entire series. It's hysterical in fact, like there are several characters
- 15:56who are very much aware of of what happens. When Bear is drinking and
- 16:03he has tea to spill, who loose slips so like and it just slips
- 16:11out like ty has done this to him, his the kid has done this
- 16:18to him and not going to spoil it for you. But in the next
- 16:21book a friend of the kids does this to him and it's hilarious. But
- 16:27moving on from that, Bear is also beginning to go back to college because
- 16:33after his mom abandoned him and his brother, Bear had to quit school,
- 16:37had to give up his dream of going to college to become a to become
- 16:42writer to take care of his brother. But now that he and Otter are
- 16:49in a committed relationship together, Otter has Otter offered to support Bear while he's
- 16:57going back to school. In fact, Otter and all of Bear's friends,
- 17:03including Creed and Anna, basically had to pin Bear down and force him to
- 17:07sign up for school again, like you're not giving up, Like you're going
- 17:11back to school and whether you like it or not, He's like, but
- 17:14no, I gotta take care of the kid, I'm like, and Otter
- 17:18is like, I'm here, I can help you take care of him and
- 17:19I can help you pay for school, So you're going to school, and
- 17:22a discussion, so bears now begin. Bear begins going to school to his
- 17:32local community college to be for creative writing, and at the beginning of the
- 17:36book, it actually starts off with him reading some like terrible. At first
- 17:40I thought this was like some sort of fan fiction, but it was an
- 17:41attempt at Bear's fantasy writing and it was terrible, and both the kid and
- 17:48Otter tell him. So we do see a few times. So we do
- 17:53see if you've scenes throughout the book where he goes to school and Anna is
- 17:59also taking classes at the same school, so it's not like he's by himself
- 18:03and he does it's not like he knows he doesn't know anybody there. The
- 18:07thing is is that when he starts, when he goes to his first class,
- 18:10he immediately meets this guy who takes an interest in Bear, and Bear
- 18:15is like super awkward and doesn't know how to tell this is not it doesn't
- 18:18really know how to tell this guy, I'm gonna I have a boyfriend,
- 18:22so could you not flirt with me? And even like with Bear's gentle like
- 18:30admonishments, the guy's not taking the hint until Anna shows up and chases him
- 18:34away. Now this guy like kind of pops up ship. What was his
- 18:40name? I don't want to just be calling him this guy? Where's the
- 18:47table contents? Sorry, now you're fine, please this kid awkward dinner where
- 19:04Bear meets two very different people. It's relia Okay, here I think this
- 19:10is it? Start school? Dun dun dun dun dun d d d d
- 19:26No No, no, no no, mhm h m hm fuck h uh
- 20:29did come on? What is say? See? I'll be totally honest with
- 20:33this character I'm trying to whose name I'm trying to look up is so completely
- 20:37unimportant to me that I don't really care to remember his name. Oh and
- 20:41no who because like he only appears in this book and like a couple of
- 20:48times, and really, uh like his only let's see, his only real
- 21:10purpose in this story is too like just kind of throw a monkey wrench into
- 21:18Bear and Otter's relationship. Because while they don't really have a fight over this
- 21:22guy, like Otter does find out and while he's not an extremely jealous kind
- 21:26of character, he does get a little protect he does get overprotective of Bear,
- 21:32and they do have those moments where it's just like, like he does
- 21:34have this moment of unsurety where Otter is like, are you like, I
- 21:38mean, you've never had you don't have much experience with you know, relationships,
- 21:42and you know, with this side of you, how do I know
- 21:45You're not? Like? Are you ever gonna want to like experiment with other
- 21:49people? Maybe figure out other relationships, see other people, want to see
- 21:55other people besides me? And you know, Bear has to reassure him that
- 21:59no, I don't really want to see other people just you, and Otter
- 22:03pretty much tells him the same thing. Oh, let's see, let's see,
- 22:07let's see. What's it. What is his name? Oh, that's
- 22:34his name, Isaiah hucks h Isaiah. So when Bear starts school, he's
- 22:48one of his first encounter. He has a bit of an encounter with this
- 22:49guy named Isaiah who comes on very strong to him because he finds Bear very
- 22:56attractive, and Bear like barely is really able to shoot this guy away before
- 23:00Anna shows up and kicks him to the curb. And the thing is is
- 23:07that it's not just Otter that show showcases a little bit of jealousy when it
- 23:11when it comes to people like throwing practically throwing themselves at Bear, because that
- 23:17has been several times throughout the series, and it's kind of cute just seeing
- 23:22the two of them get jealous of each other, just like, what you
- 23:26like him? No, what you like him? No? Like, it's
- 23:30kind of cute. I mean some some couples deal with it more, some
- 23:33couples don't. But it's just like, it's not really a big issue for
- 23:37either Otter or Bear. Thing is, uh, Aside from Bear starting school
- 23:45again, uh, this story is also focused on a decision that Bear has
- 23:51made besides going through with college, and that is finally legally getting full custody
- 23:56of Tie, his brother. Yeah, because when his mom, when his
- 24:02mom just just straight up dipped on him, she gave him something. She
- 24:07left papers for him to sign that gave him power of attorney quote unquote,
- 24:12which was sketchy as fuck and I don't think would actually have held up in
- 24:17court either way. I mean, it was enough to give Bear at least
- 24:22allow Bear to make sure that Tye has everything he needs, like register him
- 24:26from school, take him to his doctor's appointments and dentists and whatever it.
- 24:33But the thing is, it was not the actual legally binding a thing that
- 24:41he needed to, you know, ensure that nobody can actually take Otter I'm
- 24:49sorry, tie away from him. Right, it wasn't actual legal custody.
- 24:55And when his mom showed up in the last book and threatened to take Tye
- 24:57away, you know that was the that was the final nail in the coffin.
- 25:02Like for Bear, his mom is completely dead to him, like he
- 25:07does not want anything to do with her, and he doesn't want her to
- 25:10be able to come back into his life again and threaten to take the kid
- 25:12away. So with Otter's help, they actually seek out an attorney. And
- 25:21this attorney she's really great. She is actually a character whose name I should
- 25:26look like, actually should know because she is an amazing character. Let me
- 25:32see here. Her name is in like this literal, except like her name
- 25:41is actually in this one, like in one of these two. I fucking
- 25:51know her name, is it? Okay? I think he is Georgia.
- 26:18Oh wait, no, no, that's Georgia is actually uh Devin at this
- 26:22part out, But Georgia is a is actually she is an agent for CPS,
- 26:30but she's on their side, so yeah, when so I'll explain it
- 26:36again just as this part up, but so Georgia. So when they finally
- 26:41like make the petition to for Bear to take full custody of the kid,
- 26:48part of the process is they need to be evaluated by CPS to make sure
- 26:52that they have a stable home. And Georgia is the character is this is
- 26:56the person that they send to evaluate them. And she's not and it is
- 27:00scary, It is a little scary, not gonna lie, but she's actually
- 27:03very helpful and she uh, she makes sure that Otter and Bear and the
- 27:10kid have everything they need. Let me see, let me see, let
- 27:12me see where Bear goes to war. Oh wait, never mind, h
- 27:33monstrosity. M m m mm hmm. Okay, okay. Her name is
- 28:03Erica, got it, Erica? So yeah, like I was saying,
- 28:15they decide to get full custody of the kid, well Bear, because since
- 28:21he is the kid's direct relative, he's the one that will be taking full
- 28:26custody of him. They get an attorney. Her name is Erica. When
- 28:30they first meet her, they explained their situation to her, the whole,
- 28:34the whole his mom dipping the power of attorney thing, and how she came
- 28:40back and threatened to take him back even though she had been gone for three
- 28:42years without a word, and after hearing everything they had to say, Erica
- 28:47agrees to take their case, and she said and she had, and she
- 28:48informs them that she has a a that she's very confident that they will that
- 28:56they will win this case, that Bear will be a or did full custody
- 29:02of the kid because after explaining the circumstances, things are not going to work
- 29:10out in their mother's favor. Because one thing I didn't really talk about in
- 29:15the last book was that when Julie McKenna showed up and threatened to take the
- 29:21kid back, take the kid away from bere Bear tried to call her bluff.
- 29:26But she made up this whole spiel about how she could easily lie to
- 29:30the court and say listen, like she could use her alcoholism and her substance
- 29:37abuse as you know, as a weapon against them, saying like, well,
- 29:42I left for my health to seek treatment and basically play this whole sob
- 29:48story case right, and people would be more willing to And she implied that
- 29:52people would be more willing to take her side because who are they could and
- 29:57she employed and she basically just told him out right that people are more willing
- 30:03to believe a struggling single mom over a gay older brother and oh I hate
- 30:12that bitch. And but the thing is is that now that they spoke to
- 30:19an actual attorney who knows the law and knows how the court system works,
- 30:23after they explain their situation, Erica informs them like, yeah, no,
- 30:27that's not gonna fly. Your mom does have substance abuse, so that does
- 30:33work against her. And depending on what we find on her, if she
- 30:40if she has no real like if there are no records of her seeking help
- 30:45for her substance abuse, it's not gonna hold up in court. And also,
- 30:48this power of attorney thing I'm not gonna lie is going to is actually
- 30:53gonna work against both you and your mom, against your mom more but against
- 30:57you too, because the thing is, this is not some This was not
- 31:02handled properly or legally, but given the circumstances of this is all basically going
- 31:11to go back on your mom. So even though the judge may be more
- 31:15or less inclined to admonish you for this, there's nothing she can do about
- 31:19it. There's nothing that judge can do about it. So what they can
- 31:25do is grant you temporary custody and when, and what they're gonna do is,
- 31:30first of all, they've got to make sure that you are fit to
- 31:33be that you are a fit guardian for the kid. So they are so
- 31:37CPS will be involved. They will be making regular checks, uh, and
- 31:44they'll be making regular visits to your home to inspect it and make sure everything
- 31:48is working out, that it is a safe and nurturing environment for Tyson.
- 31:53And she won't and she even told them, I'm not gonna lie. It's
- 31:57gonna it's gonna feel very invasive because they're going to be observing you in every
- 32:06facet of your life just to ensure that, just to ensure that you are
- 32:10providing a safe and nurturing environment for your brother. All Right, it's gonna
- 32:16be tough. But from what I can tell, like after talking to you
- 32:21guys, you guys seem very well adjusted. You have a job, You're
- 32:24going to school Bear, so that is a good so that actually works in
- 32:29your favor. And you also have a very great support, great and loving
- 32:34support system. Because when went Bear and when Baron Otter went to talk to
- 32:39the attorney, they're basically their entire extended family came with the Creed and a
- 32:46missus pack when they all came to provide moral support, and it was kind
- 32:52of it was a little hysterical just the way like just like they're trying to
- 32:54have a serious meeting with the attorney, but there's all this banter going on
- 32:58in the background. It's really funny. And she tells them that plays very
- 33:07well in their favor, and then she drops this. She also tells them
- 33:10that ty will need to be uh will need to see a therapist because he
- 33:15needs to be evaluated meant for any any kind of long standing mental health disabilities,
- 33:25just to standard things because usually from what I understand, any kind of
- 33:30custody cases involving kids, the kids do have to go see a therapist,
- 33:34and the therapist needs to evaluate and make sure that the kid that the kid
- 33:37isn't suffering from any kind of abuse, trauma, or anything that relates back
- 33:43to the person trying to get the custody, but anything that goes back to
- 33:45the like a direct correlation of the person who's trying to get custody. So
- 33:51if you're trying to get custody of your kid and the kid is like having
- 33:53severe depression and anxiety just because of you, there's a good chance that could
- 33:59play it, that could work against you. Yeah, and especially in like
- 34:02Bear's case, since he is a since he's still very young and he's trying
- 34:08to take care of his younger brother, all right, they got to make
- 34:13sure that he is that he's more than capable of taking care of his younger
- 34:17brother. But they also need to make sure that the kid himself is thriving
- 34:24under his brother's guardianship. And then finally, the final bombshell that they drop
- 34:30on Bear, that she drops on Bear is that they will have to get
- 34:36a courier and they need to serve Julie McKenna with custody papers with a they
- 34:45need to subpoena her. So what's gonna happen is either she fights it and
- 34:52they take her to court to fight for Cussey over Tyson, or she could
- 34:55go ahead and sign her rights away right then and there. And Bear was
- 35:01not thrilled about that because he really does not want anything. He does not
- 35:05want to have any kind of confrontation with his mom, But after everything that
- 35:09she put him through and put Tie through, he's ready to fight for his
- 35:14brother, which I'm like, oh, good for you. I applaud you.
- 35:16Good for you. You know, it's an uncomfortable situation all around.
- 35:20But this is your brother, and you need to do this for your brother
- 35:22because when your brother, because when Ty found out that his mom threatened Bear
- 35:30and forced Bear to leave Otter, that actually really fought that really negatively affected
- 35:37Tie, because Ty really looks up to Otter. Otter is like is not
- 35:40only like another older brother to him, but he's like a father figure to
- 35:44him, just like Bear. All right, So having Otter in his life
- 35:47is a very good influence, all right. It helps him with his anxiety
- 35:52and his panic disorder, and it also helps him with other with his other
- 35:57issues, all right. I mean, don't get me wrong. Hi is
- 36:00a very well adjusted young man, and he is very smart. Bear often
- 36:05refers to him as eco terrorist and training because of how much he is,
- 36:09because of how much of a naturalist he is as well as he's and he
- 36:15often says that this kid will take over the world by the time he's sixteen,
- 36:20and the kid practically does. But so throughout the book, it does
- 36:24describe their struggles. It also describes their meetings with Georgia, the child Protective
- 36:31Services agent that is sent to evaluate their home. While they're being evaluated by
- 36:38Georgia, they do meet a young They do end up meeting a young boy
- 36:43that lives down the street from Otter and Bear. This boy's name is Dominic.
- 36:50Now I'm talking, I want to just like talk about Dominic for a
- 36:52second here, because he's actually will become a very important figure in the kid's
- 36:58life in the future. So Dominic is about fourteen fifteen years old when he's
- 37:06first introduced into the story, and basically he's a very introverted young man,
- 37:12and well, like all introverts, he got adopted by a extremely extroverted person,
- 37:19and that extremely extroverted person happened to be Tie, the kid. So
- 37:25Tie while playing down while playing outside of his house, he notices Dominic just
- 37:31wandering around and immediately befriends the kid. And now Tie considers this big fourteen
- 37:42year old kid as his new best friend. And it's it's very cute.
- 37:47I think a little bit about Dominic is that Dominic is he's a very big
- 37:52kid. I'm not saying big as in like fat. It's not really described
- 37:57as whether he's like just a like a you know, plump kid. But
- 38:01really he's described as being this big kid, like he's big for his age
- 38:06and his dark hair, dark eyes, and he has a very low,
- 38:14kind of broken voice. Like when Bear first hears Dominic speak for the first
- 38:19time, it almost seems like Dominic has a very hard time talking and can't
- 38:25really raise his voice about a certain octave, well not an octave, i
- 38:30should say, but to a certain volume. And he could tell it looks
- 38:34like in Bear could tell it looks like talking is kind of painful for him,
- 38:38and when he first it's the same. He meets Dominic at the same
- 38:45time they have their first meeting with Georgia, and while Georgia is evaluating their
- 38:49house, she tells him about she tells them about Dominic. So it turns
- 38:53out Dominic is a kid that Georgia had to remove from his home. The
- 39:00circumstances that Dominic was removed from his home was actually very extreme, simply because
- 39:05his father was extremely abusive to both him and his mother. Was he would
- 39:09physically beat both him and his mom, and it got so bad that at
- 39:15one point his father just snapped and ended up beating his mom to death.
- 39:20Now, in that scenario, I'm sorry, guys. Told disclaimer, there
- 39:23is some elements of physical abuse. We don't actually see it. It's just
- 39:29told secondhand from from a second hand account from Georgia of the CPS agent,
- 39:37just giving providing backstory for this new character Dominic. All right, so just
- 39:42be warned. It is kind of graphic. The story behind Dominic is a
- 39:46little graphic, and it's very tragic, but it really it's necessary for the
- 39:52story as well as for the development of his character in the future. All
- 39:57right, so just be warned. So, Dominic's dad brutally murdered his mom
- 40:05by beating her to death. While his father was assaulting his mom, Dominic
- 40:10Trot, who was about nine years old at the time, eight or nine
- 40:14years old at the time, tried to defend his mom and the only thing
- 40:19the way he could do that was he got a pair of scissors and he
- 40:22stabbed his dad several times. His dad did not die, but it did
- 40:25manage to get his dad. It did manage to stop his dad from completely
- 40:31beating his mom to a pulp. Unfortunately, the damage was done and his
- 40:35mom did pass that night. However, the entire experience was extremely traumatizing for
- 40:42Dominic, was he later described. Dominic would later describe the what happened,
- 40:51and but will I'll talk about that later, because he doesn't talk about that
- 40:55in this He doesn't actually reveal that in this book. But Georgia says that
- 41:01when she was called to this to Dominic's case, she arrived at the hospital,
- 41:07she was already informed about what his father did and what happened to Dominic's
- 41:10mother. But when she got to the hospital, all she could hear was
- 41:15this child screaming his head off. The poor kid had been screaming for several
- 41:20days straight. He would not stop, no matter what the people, what
- 41:22anybody did, and at one point it just seemed like something in the kid
- 41:29in Dominic's voice broke and he went completely silent. So Dominic had been so
- 41:37traumatized by this event that he screamed himself so bad that he actually ruptured his
- 41:45vocal cords. So while Dominic can speak, his voice is very broken and
- 41:50gravelly, and it's actually kind of painful for him. I mean, later
- 41:55on, as his character grows and develops more, talking becomes easier for him
- 42:00because he talks, he ends up. He starts coming out of the show
- 42:04and talks more, especially to Tyson, and but his voice is Devin you
- 42:14know how Matt voice is kind of whispery because of his of his own thank.
- 42:23Yeah, it's kind of like that, but it's more like in a
- 42:28more severe case, because Dominic has more severe damage to his weldal cords.
- 42:37And so yeah, aside from that little segue about Dominic, Dominic does become
- 42:44Tyson's best friend and somebody that he turns to and comes to rely on later
- 42:52in the future. Hint hint, But we will talk about that in the
- 42:59next book. Anyway, back to the overall story. Uh, we do
- 43:07have several different There are several like excuse me, let me pause, puzzling
- 43:14me reorganize my thought my thoughts slash notes. Uh. So yeah, they
- 43:21do have several court Uh, they do have several court hearings. Tyson Is
- 43:29does speak to the judge a few times to plead his case of being a
- 43:34you know, want to stay with his family, and then also, uh,
- 43:39and then I'm sorry not Tyson Bear pleads his case about wanting to take
- 43:44custody of Tie, and ty does see a therapist. Uh. This therapist
- 43:52is kind of funny. He's very he's very eccentric. And now that is
- 43:55another name I need to look up. Okay, so while I look up
- 44:01this, this guy's name, Uh, Tyson, I just want to say,
- 44:08hates the idea of seeing ah Bear. So ty hates the idea of
- 44:22seeing a therapist, and he is against He's very much against seeing a therapist.
- 44:32But for the sake of the uh, for the sake of the custody
- 44:38battle, he does agree to go see the He agrees to go see the
- 44:46therapist. Uh, Jesus is his name? Where is his name? Jacob
- 44:52god? I read this on Kindles, So excuses like, well, I
- 45:04can actually just look up the dude's name. Yeah, oh, maybe called
- 45:22the therapists. Yeah, so it takes Bear. I just want to say,
- 45:24it does take Bear a while to actually schedule a therapy, the appointment
- 45:30with the therapist, because for one thing, the kid is like giving a
- 45:32lot of pushback against seeing the therapist because he thinks it's stupid and he doesn't
- 45:37need to see a therapist. But you know that's what all kids say.
- 45:45Sorry, would you say repeat all that? Because my connection was dropped?
- 45:53Uh? Sorry, so no, I'm sorry. Well I'm looking at this.
- 46:07Uh okay, what part did you hear last? You're looking for his
- 46:10name? Okay, So, while I look at his name, I just
- 46:15want to say it does take Bear a while to schedule the appointment with the
- 46:19therapist because, for one thing, Ty is giving him a lot of pushback
- 46:22because he thinks seeing a therapist is unnecessary and ridiculous. Let me see here.
- 46:45Yeah. Also, Bear is nervous too, because he's not sure how
- 46:49things are gonna go at the therapist. Yeah. But but the thing is
- 47:01about this whole situation with the therapist is that Otter ends up being the one
- 47:07that just makes the final decision for them all because while because while Bear is
- 47:13dragging ass and while Tie is putting up a fit, Otter comes in and
- 47:15he's like, look, you guys don't like it. I don't like it
- 47:20either, but for the sake of this custody battle, we gotta go do
- 47:22it. And hold on, hold on, hold on. Okay, I
- 47:30found it. I found it. I found it. M h. His
- 47:51name, Okay, here we go. His name is Eddie. Eddie,
- 48:01So Eddie is a very That's why I could describe Eddie is that he's very
- 48:06eccentric for a therapist. He's kind of like a hippie. We're talking like
- 48:14his office has the door to his office has those hanging beads, those bead
- 48:19curtains. Yeah, he has hippie shit all over the place, and yeah,
- 48:25but he specializes in child psychology and he often takes cases for the court,
- 48:30especially concerning custody. And he's very good at what he does despite his
- 48:36appearance. Like in the next book, he so thoroughly reads Tyson that Tyson
- 48:43like for once, is at a loss for words like Tyson is usually the
- 48:47one like let me, let me put the tell you something. I think
- 48:51I mentioned this in the last episode. But Tyson can be a little bit
- 48:53manipulative. He's very smart, but when he wants to avoid uncomfortable subjects he
- 48:58has he does this thing where he kind of manipulates the flow of the conversation
- 49:01and has a habit of just changing topics. And it's very for him.
- 49:07It's easy to do to to Bear because Bear is easy, is easily distractable.
- 49:17But the thing. The thing is is that Eddie does end up he
- 49:22so when all right, let me let me back up, back up.
- 49:25Uh. So, Eddie is a therapist that they end up seeing, and
- 49:32when they finally see him, he does three separate sessions with the kid,
- 49:37Bear and Otter. Otter was asked to be there because since he is a
- 49:43part of the household that the kid is living in and that Bear lives in
- 49:46as well, he's a part of the family. He they have to also
- 49:50make sure that bit that Otter is going to be positive influence on the kid.
- 49:55So in each of their sessions, and Eddie has this way of completely
- 50:00disarming Bear and the others and getting them to open up about themselves, and
- 50:06he completely reads them, and it's just it's hilarious because Bear is just like
- 50:09he's very he's he's very like standoffish with this with Eddie. But Eddie like
- 50:15easily just like he just the way Eddie works Bear like, he just works
- 50:21him and just like gets him to like open up. And like when he
- 50:24finally opens up and spills the beans about like his past, like his resentments
- 50:29and traumas about especially surrounding his mom, Bear stops and he's like, holy
- 50:34shit, how'd you do that. But at the end of the day,
- 50:39Eddie informs them that he actually he actually thinks that the that their sessions went
- 50:45very well. Of course, you guys have some things that I do recommend
- 50:50that you work on you know, I do recommend that you continue to see
- 50:53me, just so we can keep not only help you address your own personal
- 50:58issues, but also to help build your like give you a you know,
- 51:05put you in a better make it easier for you in court. Like you
- 51:08continue to see like keep seeing me. Of course, the court wants you
- 51:12to keep seeing me for now, but even after, it'll still look good
- 51:15in the eyes of the court. Right, so they continue. So Eddie
- 51:20becomes a regular therapist and a regular character for these guys. In the next
- 51:23few books beyond that, Uh, Erica, the attorney, eventually informs him
- 51:34that they finally have tracked down his his mother. It had taken a few
- 51:37months. They had already gone had a few court dates by this point where
- 51:44Bear pleads his case, and of course, like I said, he has
- 51:46those meetings with the with Georgia, the CPS agent, and things are starting
- 51:52to build up and look up look a lot better for them. And Erica
- 52:00informs Bear that after months of trying to track his mother down, they finally
- 52:06tracked her down and she is in hold On. I know the name of
- 52:13the state, it's like right next to because right now they are in see,
- 52:19they are in seaport, Oregon. That is where the story takes place,
- 52:23and Oregon turns out his mom was when she dipped. She had these
- 52:36ideas of seeing the world and traveling all over the place and getting as far
- 52:39away as possible, and it turns out she didn't even go far. She
- 52:46was actually just three hundred Yeah, she was actually just like about three four
- 52:51hundred miles away in Idaho. She was literally she was literally the next state
- 52:57over, like a five hour drive away. Oh yep. So they weren't
- 53:05able to track her down at first because she doesn't have she doesn't have a
- 53:09bank account of any kind, so she's not making any kind of deposits.
- 53:12She hasn't registered to vote in years. She hasn't really filed her taxes either.
- 53:17But eventually they were able to track her down because she had opened an
- 53:22account with a bank somewhere in Idaho and Erica. When she told him this,
- 53:29she also felt like she needed to inform him that when the courier served
- 53:32his mom with the papers for the custody for custody of Tyson, the courier
- 53:39noticed that his mom had a little girl with her. So, as it
- 53:51turns out, and this is later confirmed, Julie McKenna had another kid.
- 53:59Oh so not long after she dipped, she got pregnant again, and now
- 54:06she has a two to three year old little girl. Oh no, yep,
- 54:12and Tye. And the thing is Bear like he was upset and he
- 54:15did tell He does tell Tye, and they both have the same feeling that,
- 54:21oh, this poor girl, she's gonna go through what we went through.
- 54:24And the thing is there was Bear does have a moment where he considers
- 54:31having like maybe trying to like do something about his sister. But then again,
- 54:38but then he realizes, no, there's nothing he can do about her.
- 54:43Tie is his priority at the moment, and there's even if he did
- 54:47try to get his sister, he wouldn't have a case for it. So
- 54:52he takes it in stride. And while his mom has been served, they
- 54:59do have to wait for her response, whether or not she will she will
- 55:04show up to the future court date that has been set, or if she's
- 55:07just gonna go ahead and mail in her dying copy of her rights of her
- 55:12parental rights. Either way, they have to wait and see. Bear and
- 55:20Otter decide to have Not long after this, baron Otter decide to have a
- 55:23date night with some friends. Otter wants to take Bear to a gay bar
- 55:29because Bear has never been to one before. While they're there, they do
- 55:34run into some familiar faces. Of course, they run into Isaiah, the
- 55:38guy that came on to Bear very strong at school and still does, and
- 55:44he meets Otter for the first time, and Otter actually knocks him down on
- 55:47a peg because Otter is built. I don't know if I'm I don't know
- 55:53if I mentioned that in the last book, but with the last book,
- 55:58But Bear, I'm sorry not be Otter is built, all right. He
- 56:04is is not some scrawny little twink. He is this beefy guy, beefy,
- 56:08ruggy, rugged guy, all right. And he's way taller than but
- 56:15and he's also way taller than Bear too so and Isaiah is not much taller
- 56:20than than Bear. He's practically he's practically the same body type. And so,
- 56:24of course there's that moment, there's that moment where Bear basically where Otter
- 56:30basically tells that Isaiah the fuck off, and Bear runs into one of Tyson's
- 56:38teacher, a guy named David Trent. Now David. They did meet David
- 56:44earlier on in the book because when ty was starting school again, they went
- 56:49ahead and met his new teacher, and it turns out his teacher a guy
- 56:52named David Trent, who happens to be one of Otter's ex boyfriends. And
- 56:59this cause so this causes a bit of jealousy for Bear because for one thing,
- 57:02David is a very good looking guy, and this makes Bear feel insecure
- 57:08and he does feel some jealousy and kind of and he starts wondering, is
- 57:13Siscott really gonna be teaching my brother? Should he? Should he even be
- 57:16a teacher? Is he even is this even legal? Like double cheeked up
- 57:22on a Wednesday? Jesus Christ. Yeah. So. But they also run
- 57:28into him there to his teacher there at the gay bar, and he does
- 57:32have a moment another moment of jealousy. But all of that, Uh,
- 57:37Their little date night does end up coming to an end a lot sooner because
- 57:40when they went out to the bar, they left Tie in the care of
- 57:45Missus Packwin, And while they were gone, seems like Missus Packwin contact us,
- 57:52contacts them and tells them that the kid is having a panic attack.
- 57:57She actually sends him a picture of Tyson and hiding in the bathtub. And
- 58:01like I said in the last book, Tyson developed a coping mechanism for his
- 58:07panic disorder. And that's by and that's by getting into a bathtub and riding
- 58:12out the panic attack. So like using the bathtub kind of anchors him two,
- 58:21you know, helps him chill out because for him, his panic attacks
- 58:24feel it feels like an earthquake to him. So and like he learned as
- 58:30a young kid that when there's an earthquake, you hide in the bathtub.
- 58:36Yeah, so he uses the bathtub as his way of you know, basically
- 58:42fighting for his life as he's freaking out or kid and and and when So
- 58:50the thing is is that when they see that, when they realize that the
- 58:54kid's having a hard is having a hard time, they immediately end their not
- 59:00and rush home. The kid feels bad because he was trying. He didn't
- 59:02want to and he didn't want to ruin their night. But bear bearon Otter
- 59:07reassuring that no, you're our priority, all right, well, like we're
- 59:12always gonna be here for you. But then it doesn't matter what's going on,
- 59:15so which I'm like, oh right, yeah. So um it's not
- 59:28long after this that Otter decides to have another little date night with Bear,
- 59:36and so this date night is gonna happen the stretch of beach that uh Bar
- 59:47and Otter considered their beach. So if you remember in the last book,
- 59:52that's where they had their first official date, which ended disastrously because of a
- 59:57fucking seagull. Yeah, and uh, hang on, sorry, hang on,
- 1:00:07is that my cousin? What? Oh it's James Sarmone. No,
- 1:00:15I just like I kept hearing a lot of like I heard the door downstairs
- 1:00:20slam, and I heard something outside slam, and I'm like, what the
- 1:00:22fuck is that noise? Anyway, uh So they plan a nice little romantic
- 1:00:30evening out on the beach there, make sure, actually make sure that there's
- 1:00:35not gonna be any freak weather this time, and he also makes sure to
- 1:00:38keep an eye out for a particular winged rat while he's waiting. Uh So,
- 1:00:50he gets the beach first and gets everything set up, and he's waiting
- 1:00:53for I'm sorry, back up, back up, back the fuck up he
- 1:01:01was actually supposed to Otter was actually supposed to be there before him to have
- 1:01:07the whole thing set up. And when Bear gets there, he notices that
- 1:01:13the beach is empty, Otter isn't there. At first, Bear doesn't think
- 1:01:19anything of it. He just thinks, okay, Otter is just running late.
- 1:01:22But then a couple hours pass and Otter never shows up, and Bear
- 1:01:30is getting understandably upset, and he's starting to wonder where Otter could be.
- 1:01:36He tries to call Otter, but he doesn't get a response, and now
- 1:01:42he's starting to get concerned and upset. He's not sure what Otter is,
- 1:01:45what's going on with Otter, But eventually he does get a call. It
- 1:01:52is from kay. Uh, I believe it is actually from the Polite hold
- 1:02:08on, let me double check this part. Let me double check this part,
- 1:02:12future Devin, it's out. I'm so sorry. Ah, no,
- 1:02:15you could you could let me see let me see here did the late night?
- 1:03:17Hey there's the beach? Okay, uh, there we go. All
- 1:03:45right, I'm sorry. So it wasn't actually an hour, Otter Bear only
- 1:03:52was there for about sorry, about twenty minutes and uh twenty minutes past the
- 1:04:00time that they were supposed to meet up. No, hold on, hold
- 1:04:10on, I am sorry. Yeah, so I'm sorry. We're just I
- 1:04:33can't I can't remember how long he waited and it doesn't really say how long
- 1:04:39he waited before he starts calling Otter try to figure out where he is.
- 1:04:50All right, let's see, yeah, So he waits for some time and
- 1:05:03then he calls him, and he calls him like about four times after the
- 1:05:10fourth time, which is like, let me see, hold on, see
- 1:05:14first time five minutes, so five fifteen, So I say about twenty five
- 1:05:20minutes. So he waits about half an hour or so. All right,
- 1:05:26we'll put it like this. So he gets to the beach and he notices
- 1:05:30that Otter isn't there at first. While he's at first, he thinks maybe
- 1:05:35Otter is running late because he was under the impression that Otter was going to
- 1:05:40have something set up, but nothing is there. And then while he's waiting,
- 1:05:44he has this idea that maybe Otter did this as a joke to get
- 1:05:46him out of the house for another type of surprise, right, And he's
- 1:05:54thinking, oh, ha haa, this is funny. But he decides to
- 1:05:57wait for a few minutes to see if he gets any kind of response from
- 1:06:00He doesn't see Otter at all, so he begins calling Otter. He calls
- 1:06:08him about like four times over the period of about thirty minutes. Each time
- 1:06:13it's going to he keeps getting Otter's voicemail, and after the last call,
- 1:06:17he's finally starting to get really nervous and he's wondering where you are, where
- 1:06:23Otter is because of uh, because he has no idea what's going on now.
- 1:06:29After the fourth time he calls, he gets his phone, it does
- 1:06:31ring and he picks it up and he assumes it's Otter, but he's he's
- 1:06:36surprised to hear that it is the kid, and the kid sounds terrified.
- 1:06:46Uh So, while Bear and Otter were having their little we're supposed to have
- 1:06:49their little date on the beach, they of course left kid in the care
- 1:06:55of Missus Paquin again, but when kid calls. When the kid calls Bear,
- 1:07:05he tells Bear that he is with Missus Packwin at the hospital and as
- 1:07:12it turns out, Missus Packwin suffered a stroke. Oh no and yeah,
- 1:07:21so so at this point, Barry is becoming hysterical. He's Bear's becoming hysterical
- 1:07:42because he's not sure what's going on. He doesn't know where Barry is.
- 1:07:45And now Missus Packwin is in the hospital and the kid is there with her.
- 1:07:48He asks him, is honor with you, and the kid tells him,
- 1:07:55no, he doesn't know where Otter is. He came to the hospital
- 1:07:58with Missus Packwin in the ambulance. So still now there's a crisis going on
- 1:08:04and Bear has to get there to be to make sure the kid is okay
- 1:08:09as well as to see how missus Packwin is doing because she is family,
- 1:08:15and he ends up saying he ends up leaving the beach, but as he's
- 1:08:28making his way back to his car from the beach, he gets another phone
- 1:08:31call, but he hoping that this is Bear I'm sorry, Hoping that this
- 1:08:41is Otter, he picks it up, but instead it is actually another is
- 1:08:48actually a doctor from the same hospital that Missus Packwin was admitted at. First
- 1:08:55Bear is confused and he tells her he knows that missus Packwin has had a
- 1:08:59stroke and that he's on his way because he's on his way to check.
- 1:09:02He's on his way at the moment. But the thing is, the doctor
- 1:09:11informs him that she's not calling about Missus Paquin. No, she's actually calling
- 1:09:21about Otter. Uh oh so uh oh yeah that that leg Gaga meme.
- 1:09:38Yep, no, yeah. So, as it turns out, when Otter
- 1:09:45was on his way to the beach for their little date night. He was
- 1:09:49struck by a drunk driver. Oh my god, he better don't tell me
- 1:09:54he's dead. I can't take that. He the doctor informs him that Otter
- 1:10:00is in critical condition. He's currently in a coma, bad shape. And
- 1:10:08now Otter. Now Bear has to deal with two things. The love of
- 1:10:12his life is in critical condition at the hospital while his grandmotherly like figure and
- 1:10:19his second motherly like figure, Missus Paquin, is also in a coma because
- 1:10:25she suffered from a severe stroke. So he's basically free. He's losing his
- 1:10:31mind at this point. He's very he's at this point, he's actually really
- 1:10:34numb. And uh, let me see here. Let's see here, all
- 1:11:03right. Yeah, So Bear's freaking out and then he races to the hospital.
- 1:11:15He gets there and he makes sure to check on both, uh,
- 1:11:21Missus pack Win and Otter. Missus Packwin is for her is hard to look
- 1:11:27at it. For him, it's hard to see because while she's there in
- 1:11:30her hospital bed, in the coma, she looks older and more frail than
- 1:11:34she's ever looked before. I mean, she's always been old. She's a
- 1:11:39woman in her, I believe in her mid to late seventies. And but
- 1:11:45she's always been she was always so very full of life that you basically she
- 1:11:47was so full of life you could it's easy to forget that she was an
- 1:11:50elderly woman. And but at one point, but but I just want to
- 1:12:03say, but before he can actually go, before he actually gets in to
- 1:12:08see missus paquin and Otter, he runs into someone else at the hospital.
- 1:12:13Oh god, who who the fuck? Now? Is ex girlfriend Anna?
- 1:12:17Oh my god? She's this boy? Can catch can this boy catch a
- 1:12:23break? Oh? She's Oh, she's fine, She's just pregnant. Okay,
- 1:12:29okay, she's pregnant. So the thing is is that he runs into
- 1:12:34her on his when he gets into the hospital, he's freaking out, and
- 1:12:40she's also freaking out. She's kind of borderline hysteric, and she like this
- 1:12:45kind of brings him, kind of grounds him a bit, and he makes
- 1:12:47and he talks to her, calms her down, and uh. She at
- 1:13:03first she's confused. She does because she didn't expect to see Bear there and
- 1:13:08she was wondering why how he knew And he tells her because Tyson told me,
- 1:13:12and she's like, well, how would Tyson knows here what's going on?
- 1:13:15And he tells her about both Otter and Missus Packwin and like he mentions
- 1:13:21that it's because of Otter and Missus Packwin that's why he's there, and she's
- 1:13:26still confused. She doesn't quite she doesn't really get that they're that those two
- 1:13:30are there for for extreme medical reasons, and she begins to basically break down
- 1:13:36and she spills the beans that she's pregnant with his best friend's child. And
- 1:13:48and at this point, his mind is basically shutting down because his mind is
- 1:13:57basically shutting down because he's being overloaded with so many things. The love of
- 1:14:00his life is fighting for his life, his mother, his second mother,
- 1:14:05is also fighting for her life, and now his ex girlfriend slash best friend
- 1:14:11is pregnant. And he's like, okay, Anna, listen. I love
- 1:14:15you, babe, I really do. You're like family, and and we'll
- 1:14:24we'll we'll. I will be there for you. I will hold your hands,
- 1:14:29I will help you break the news to Creed. But I really need
- 1:14:33to get into this hospital and and check on Otter and Missus Paquin because they
- 1:14:41are both fighting for their lives here. And that's when she finally gets it
- 1:14:45that uh Otter. That's when she gets it that there why he's there,
- 1:14:49and she helps him. She like composes herself and helps him find the two
- 1:14:57of them. She helps him find Missus Pacwin first, because that's where the
- 1:15:00kid is. That's where the kid is. He makes after making sure he's
- 1:15:05okay and seeing how bad, how much of a bad condition Missus Paquin is,
- 1:15:10he finally works up the courage to go look for Otter. And Otter
- 1:15:15is hard to look at. He is fucked up. He's basically almost in
- 1:15:21a full body cast. One side of his body is completely bruised up and
- 1:15:27in a cast. That's because when the drunk driver hit him, he was
- 1:15:31hit on his driver's side while he was crossing an intersection. The driver,
- 1:15:36the drunk driver, ran the red light and struck Otter. It was it's
- 1:15:42also very tragic. Bear learns later that while the drunk driver was arrested,
- 1:15:48the drunk driver actually had his daughter in the car and she unfortunately died in
- 1:15:55the crass no oh no oh no, yeah, and well, he sympathizes
- 1:16:00with the family. He's having a hard time feeling bad for the drunk driver
- 1:16:04because well, his own family is is dying because of him, because of
- 1:16:11this guy. So he's kind of like, not so much as like fuck
- 1:16:15her, but fuck that guy. Yeah. Yeah, like, oh,
- 1:16:18I'm sorry your daughter died full fuck you, motherfucker. You're the reason she's
- 1:16:24dead in the first place. I mean, which is true. You make
- 1:16:27Listen, people, you make the decision to drink and drive, all right,
- 1:16:31You're gonna suffer the consequences, all right, whatever happens, Whatever happens,
- 1:16:38it is your own fucking fault, all right, It is your own
- 1:16:43goddamn fault. So they do spend ending several weeks in the ICU despite the
- 1:16:58condition. He finds Otter, and he's informed that Otter will make a full
- 1:17:02recovery. It's just a matter of time for him to come out of his
- 1:17:06coma, and unfortunately missus Paquin passes away. Oh no, Yeah. The
- 1:17:20thing is is the stroke was too severe. We're talking like full like full
- 1:17:29neurological shutdown or I don't know the full medical terms for it. But her
- 1:17:35brain was deprived of oxygen for too long. So even if she did survive
- 1:17:42and pull through, she would be a shell of who she was and she
- 1:17:45wouldn't really be her. She ended up leaving everything to Bear and the kid,
- 1:17:57which wasn't much, but they she made she made him his She made
- 1:18:00him the executor of her. What is it? What are they called the
- 1:18:06executor of the not the property, but the the person who takes care of
- 1:18:18I guess the person who takes care of uh, basically the post death stuff.
- 1:18:28It takes care of the Oh god, I don't know what you're talking
- 1:18:30about. Yeah, they're the ones that are will be that the deceased in
- 1:18:38trusts with handling their their stuff. Yeah, handing them, burying them,
- 1:18:45taking care of their stuff or whatever. Yeah, so, oh god,
- 1:18:49what is the term? Yeah, well we'll we'll probably remember it later.
- 1:18:55Yeah, that's only once we don't we're finished recording. It's going to hit
- 1:18:57me. But she makes him the executor. And they do end up cremating
- 1:19:03her, and her ashes are spread and then they are spread over that little,
- 1:19:11their little secret beach. It was kind of funny when they actually do
- 1:19:15spread her ashes. They were going to throw it into the ocean, but
- 1:19:18when they released the ashes into the ocean, a wind came back and blew
- 1:19:24all of her ashes back into their faces, which they had a good laugh
- 1:19:28over because missus Paquin was always known for being very cheeky and very you know,
- 1:19:33a bit of a prankster, so they just knew she was gonna like
- 1:19:36she would get a kick out of this, like one final joke. Of
- 1:19:43course they do. They don't. They don't actually end up doing that just
- 1:19:47yet, because they do wait. They do takes their time to wait for
- 1:19:53spreading her ashes because they knew that Otter would want to be there, and
- 1:19:57since he was still in a comb at the time, they decided, wait,
- 1:20:00thank god, Otter does come out of the coma, and after say,
- 1:20:09like a few weeks, let me see here, H'd say about I'd
- 1:20:29say about six weeks. He was in a coma, So he was in
- 1:20:33a good good he was in there for a good while. And while he
- 1:20:39was in the coma, he ended up having surgery on his leg. They
- 1:20:42had to put a titanium implant on his leg because of how busted up it
- 1:20:46was. So he's gonna have a bad he's gonna have a bad knee for
- 1:20:50the rest of his life. But something he's but other than that, he
- 1:20:55has no other severe damage, no brain damage, nothing like that. Nothing
- 1:20:59that would be con or debilitating. While they were waiting for Bear. While
- 1:21:05they were waiting for Otter to wake up, Bear discovers that Otter that in
- 1:21:11that that Otter had a little box on him that he was clutching. When
- 1:21:18he was brought into the ICU. Otter was actually conscious and he refused to
- 1:21:29let go of this box. He was actually holding onto this box and he
- 1:21:31was crying out for Bear. He was kind of a bit delirious. The
- 1:21:36coma that he was put in was actually a medical induced coma, so that
- 1:21:41way he can properly recover, and at that point he had to just come
- 1:21:45out of it on his own. But when the doctors give him Otters belonging,
- 1:21:49Bear finds the box with a little poem on it, and inside the
- 1:21:54box were two rings. Oh yeah, so the uh so sure was going
- 1:22:01to propose to Bear. Ah yeah. So Bear was especially pissed off because
- 1:22:09he's like like, he was especially pissed off because like right when he was
- 1:22:13gonna get like everything he is he deserves, right man of his, the
- 1:22:18man of his, the man he loves more than anything else in the world,
- 1:22:25and his you know, that pretty much gets taken away from him and
- 1:22:29his second mom basically gets taken away from him, so he's just very unfair
- 1:22:33for him. Uh, he's He gets very angry and upset, but he
- 1:22:39has no other choice but to wait for Bear to come for Otter to come
- 1:22:43out of it on his own. While they wait for Otter to come out
- 1:22:48of his coma, Bear gets a visitor. Oh yep, who now his
- 1:22:56mother? Yes, oh my god, of course that Bet will come back,
- 1:23:00so yep. But she comes clean. She the reason why she showed
- 1:23:11up was because after she was subpoenut by the court for the custody case,
- 1:23:15she decides she realizes that Bear is really is serious about fighting for Tyson and
- 1:23:25decides that it's not worth the fight, and she showed up so that way
- 1:23:30she can give Bear her signed papers of her the sign paper work for her
- 1:23:34parental rights. So she completely signs over her rights to Bear. So now
- 1:23:42Bear is officially Tyson's legal guardian. Yay yep. But Bear is still very
- 1:23:50upset with her all right, Like he he doesn't really buy it, like
- 1:23:56I mean, he accepts the papers, but he doesn't really buy it.
- 1:23:59Why would why now? Like why did she suddenly decide against trying to take
- 1:24:05Tyson away? From him and she comes clean. So, as it turns
- 1:24:12out, Julie McKenna was approached by Otter's ex boyfriend Jonah now I mentioned him
- 1:24:23in the last In the last episode, Jonah was Otter's most recent relationship that
- 1:24:31he had before he got with Bear. But after he found out that Jonah
- 1:24:38cheated on him, and also after Otter came to the realization that he can't
- 1:24:44really get over Bear, he decided to end things with Jonah and he came
- 1:24:47back to See Fair to fight for Bear Hm to reconnect with Bear. And
- 1:24:56the thing is is that Jonah, as it turns out, was a lot
- 1:24:59more there's a lot more of a scumbag than we realized. He somehow,
- 1:25:05so Jonah was a very well off man and he'd managed After instance, he
- 1:25:13knew about Bear. He did some digging and he found out about Bear and
- 1:25:18Otter's relationship and he got really jealous about this, so he wanted to try
- 1:25:24to find a way to break the two of them up so he can get
- 1:25:27back together with Otter. The thing about Jonah is he's that kind of person
- 1:25:31that doesn't take no for an answer, and he does more digging on Bear
- 1:25:39and he manages to track down Bear's mom, Julie McKenna, and he approaches
- 1:25:44Julie with an offer that he would pay her a good sum of money.
- 1:25:53Two basically go back and force to break up with Otter, and he even
- 1:26:02coaches her on using the whole like Christian religious bullshit. Right, And that's
- 1:26:09why she did it. It's not because she actually wanted to take Tyson away
- 1:26:14or really or if she actually cared about Bear being gay. It was just
- 1:26:18because somebody paid her. Who. Yeah, Julie McKenna is just real,
- 1:26:27real piece of work, all right, that she was, that she'd be
- 1:26:31willing to like she screwed over her sons so many times. Oh fuck that
- 1:26:35bitch, you know. She tells him everything, and she agrees that she
- 1:26:41will never come back and she will never bother Bear or Otter or the kid
- 1:26:45again, and she gives them the signed paperwork for the CUSP for her legal
- 1:26:50rights for her parental rights while upsetting. While this was deeply upsetting for Bear,
- 1:27:00he doesn't tell Otter or the kid right away. Instead, he decides
- 1:27:03to just let matters slide. He gives the paperwork over to his attorney and
- 1:27:09he is officially awarded full custody of kid, and after Otter comes out of
- 1:27:17his coma and gets through his real bit through his rehabilitation, he finally properly
- 1:27:28proposed proposes to Bear embarrasses yes, uh huh, And this story and pretty
- 1:27:40much comes to an end with them having one last having their wedding on that
- 1:27:45same stretch of beach, and it was it was a very sweet wedding,
- 1:27:49nice little beach wedding. And while everything was nice and like going really well,
- 1:28:00it's kind of ruined by a fucking seagull again that scene, damn seagull.
- 1:28:12Oh my god. This time it takes a ship on Bear. Oh
- 1:28:17no, yeah, and we're not talking like a little like doll up of
- 1:28:21ship. We're talking like a massive like just bucket like completely ruins his suit.
- 1:28:30Bear fore like goes off and tries to kill the bird. Everyone's laughing
- 1:28:33their ass off. But uh, luckily for Bear and Otter they managed to
- 1:28:40h They say their vows, they say their ideas, they may kiss them,
- 1:28:45they may kiss their husbands, and it's so gay love it. We
- 1:28:53live for that. Uh. But yeah, who we are? Ends with
- 1:28:59the two of them getting married, and there is a nice little scene.
- 1:29:05Let me see here, let me go to the epilogue. So the book
- 1:29:15does end with a nice little little epilogue. Hang on, hang on,
- 1:29:23hang on this time hang hang on. Oh, I'm sorry, I almost
- 1:29:51forgot so Otter and Bear finally Ti finally tieing out. And a few months
- 1:30:00later, Preed and his now fiance Anna welcome their firstborn son, and let's
- 1:30:23see here. Hey it's a boy. And they end up naming him Joseph
- 1:30:33John or Joseph Jean or JJ for sure. And there is that, and
- 1:30:45I am so sorry, I'm just looking for the epilogue. So the book
- 1:30:49ends on an epilogue, and this time it is six years after their marriage,
- 1:30:56after they get married, and it is actually from and there it cover
- 1:31:05U. It is six years later. Uh, this is actually from the
- 1:31:08perspective of the kid, Tyson yea. And as it turns out, actually
- 1:31:17I'm sorry, it's not from Tyson. Oh my god, I'm getting it.
- 1:31:23I'm getting ahead of myself because the all right, just to spoiler alert,
- 1:31:26next book is going to be from the perspective of Tyson the kid.
- 1:31:30Yeah, yeah, this one is actually going to be. The epilogue ends
- 1:31:34from the perspective of Otter it is actually yeah. So this is kind of
- 1:31:41a bit of a lead up into the into the next book. Kid is
- 1:31:50now sixteen, and he is actually graduating from high school a lot earlier because
- 1:31:56he skipped several grades because of how smart he is. And he's about to
- 1:32:01start school and he got accepted into an Ivy League school on the East Coast.
- 1:32:10So instead of him going by himself, the whole family, Bear and
- 1:32:15Otter decide to move across the country to be there with Otter, I'm sorry,
- 1:32:21with the kid so and they have to do that because since he's still
- 1:32:28a minor, they can't just let him go live on the dorm by himself.
- 1:32:30So they decide to pack up everything and move across the country for the
- 1:32:38kid to start school. And the thing is, the kid is now starting
- 1:32:41to deal with his Yeah, And now the thing is the kid is starting
- 1:32:44to deal with his own teenage ants because, as I mentioned earlier, he
- 1:32:49became best friends with a young boy named Dominic. Dominic is about five years
- 1:32:57older than the kid. See, he's sixteen now, and Dominic is once
- 1:33:12he I think actually, I think dom is actually like five or six years
- 1:33:17older than the kid. And so while the kid is still sixteen and just
- 1:33:25graduating high school. Dominic grows up and decides to become a cop, something
- 1:33:30that the kid didn't really like because he was afraid for his friend's safety because
- 1:33:35you know, the life of a cop is hard and it's not always noble.
- 1:33:44I guess you could say, because of you know, all the controversy
- 1:33:47surrounding cops. But Dominic was inspired to become a cop because of his own
- 1:33:56personal past traumas and his experiences with police, especially how police basically we're there
- 1:34:03for him after what happened to his parents, and he believes he can make
- 1:34:09a difference in a kid's life because he wants to try to prevent something like
- 1:34:14that from ever happening again. Yeah, but the thing is is that kid
- 1:34:19is now dealing with his own feelings towards his older police officer best friend.
- 1:34:32Hint, hint, Oh my god. But that is pretty much where this
- 1:34:41book ends. It does have a nice little lead up into the next book.
- 1:34:46Like I said, the next book is going to be well, I'm
- 1:34:50sorry, I don't know if you're going to cut out that earlier part where
- 1:34:54I mentioned that to you, Devin. But so the next book is going
- 1:34:57to be from the perspective of the kid. Book three of bare Otter and
- 1:35:02the Kid Chronicles is titled The Art of Breathing, and it's going to be
- 1:35:11talking about now. It's going to be centered on the kid and his own
- 1:35:14struggles because now that he's getting older. As I've said before, the kids
- 1:35:19scoffs at therapy. He doesn't think he really needs it. But his panic
- 1:35:25disorder actually gets a lot worse for him. And there's some things that will
- 1:35:29happen in the next book that ends up making his life a lot harder for
- 1:35:32him. And not to spoil it too much, but the kid actually struggles
- 1:35:41with substance abuse, particularly narcotics like controlled narcochotics. We're not talking like like
- 1:35:50hardcore drugs like cocaine or shit like that. It's more of like controlled substances
- 1:35:57like oxy and other forms of antidepressants and highly addictive painkillers and things like that.
- 1:36:05M hm. So it's gonna be dealing with that, and it's also
- 1:36:11it's gonna be the story will be censored around his struggles with that as well
- 1:36:15as his him as him confronting his feeling his deeper feelings for his for his
- 1:36:23friend Dominic and that is where we're gonna end this episode. Yayyay. So
- 1:36:35thank you guys for listening. Again. I definitely recommend that you got that.
- 1:36:40Everybody take at least take a look at these books. Bear Ottering the
- 1:36:45Kid for me is such a refreshing it's refreshing read. A refreshing read for
- 1:36:50me because for one thing, being gay, I am surrounded. I'm often
- 1:36:55exposed to a lot of straight romance. You know, every you'll find that
- 1:37:00anywhere you go. And while it, you know, everyone loves a good
- 1:37:05romance, but as a game, but as a gay man, you know,
- 1:37:10I would like to see I was just craving more romance that I feel
- 1:37:18a connection to, you know what I mean, like something that I relate
- 1:37:24to. So being a gay man, it doesn't really like while it's you
- 1:37:28know, I do get my ooze and ah's out when you know, I
- 1:37:31see a good love story, like I mean, if you watch Elemental,
- 1:37:36like that new Disney movie Elemental loved it and I'm just like, oh,
- 1:37:42it's cute. But at the same time, I'm just like, god,
- 1:37:45it's so fucking straight. Yeah, and it and just like with Wolf's song,
- 1:37:53Bear Otter and the Kid is just another It's just so refreshing to see
- 1:37:57more of this. It's very real, and it does like it does hit
- 1:38:01on these points and struggles that a lot of gay people have to deal with,
- 1:38:05bigotry, trauma. I mean we you know, people who come who
- 1:38:12are part of the Alphabet mafia. We have our own brand of trauma,
- 1:38:16all right. I mean, I'm not saying that our trauma is better than
- 1:38:19anybody else's. I'm just saying that we ourselves have our own unique type of
- 1:38:25it because we have to deal with a lot of us have to deal with
- 1:38:29rejection either from our family or society as a whole. We have to deal
- 1:38:33with the abuse that we often suffer in the like religious abuse. I want
- 1:38:40to just point that out. Religious abuse is a very real thing, Yeah,
- 1:38:46especially if you come from a very hardcore religious household. A lot of
- 1:38:50us had to deal with that. A lot of us had to deal with
- 1:38:54repressed emotions and feelings, and this often causes wide admir rate of personality disorders
- 1:39:01because we're not able to actually live the way we're meant to live, all
- 1:39:06right. We're not able to be We're not able to be who we are.
- 1:39:10And even now, like Devin and I we are two gay men.
- 1:39:15Well, Devon's bisexual, but we are two gay men in San Antonio,
- 1:39:20Texas. And while San Antonio is more or less a very accepting city and
- 1:39:27I don't know, I don't know about you, Devon, I don't really
- 1:39:30see much bigotry here, not really, because it's it's kind of it's pretty
- 1:39:35progressive here. Yeah, that's pretty progressive or less. And also, like
- 1:39:42I mean, being a highly Latin centric city, like we have a very
- 1:39:46large Latin community here. When it comes to like the subject of homosexuality Latinos,
- 1:39:55it's a it's a hit or miss with them. They either just don't
- 1:39:58talk about it or they just really just I don't want to know. I
- 1:40:03don't want They don't they don't want to know, don't know. Yeah,
- 1:40:08it's very much like that. And although things are starting to change slowly but
- 1:40:14surely. Uh, but we have face our own we have faced our own
- 1:40:18form of bigotry, all right. I know, like before I know,
- 1:40:23I was bullied for being gay, even before I knew I was gay,
- 1:40:27And switched says a lot because that means other people knew girl. I am
- 1:40:33a white, Irish blooded American fucking white man and I'm gay hell, and
- 1:40:44with the whole because I wanted to. I want to state that because I
- 1:40:46agree with the whole Latin side of things on how they don't want to know,
- 1:40:53they don't want to know, don't tell them because not necessarily dealing with
- 1:40:56me, but dealing with friends. Majority of my friends over I would say
- 1:41:00good nine percent of my friends more or less are Latin or Hispanic in some
- 1:41:05way, shape or form. Dealing with being the minority down here in San
- 1:41:12Antonio because white people and sorry, Caucasians are the minority here. But I've
- 1:41:17seen my fair share of that, that's true. I think, like last
- 1:41:21time I checked, it's more of like, oh yeah, they are they
- 1:41:24minority. There's more Spanish. I think there's more a Spanic here than there
- 1:41:28are like white people. They're Caucasian people. But no, yeah, I
- 1:41:35mean, of course, like the JB have dealt with my own share of
- 1:41:39homophobia in some way, like picking on school, being in the closet.
- 1:41:44I'm not gay, even though sweetie, you're you're, you're, you're one
- 1:41:47step away from doing the twirl and opposed with sparkles like girl, come on,
- 1:41:53babe, you're a fuck oupt did your dream to coseplay a sailor?
- 1:42:00Mon? No, girl, it's my dream to fucking well, that's the
- 1:42:06bisexuality coming to me. Like Bayin added to step on me and be like,
- 1:42:11yes, ma'am, you know, but that's the bisexuality in me.
- 1:42:14But like just just to go down the street and be like, see a
- 1:42:16girl and that is that is, that is that's attractive and just be like's
- 1:42:21they be like girl, you're pretty? Like girls? Girl? You pretty?
- 1:42:25But girl, yes, mama work like gay. So it's not us.
- 1:42:35It's harder the high than others. And then some people who think they
- 1:42:40are hiding it pretty well obviously don't. I could tell you know, I
- 1:42:45get my gatar is one hundred on point, have not been wrong yet,
- 1:42:49thank you. Well you know that guy I'm seeing right now, I mean
- 1:42:57we actually we met. Uh we were talking about that, and he was
- 1:43:01like, you know, if I didn't meet you, if I didn't meet
- 1:43:06you on that specific uh you know, dating app, I would never have
- 1:43:13guessed that you were gay. If girl, Please No, he really said
- 1:43:16that. I'm not lying. He really said that people y'all's gatars must be
- 1:43:23must be messed up. Mmm. I knew the seconds, like, you're
- 1:43:30just projecting. I'm not projecting, babe. I was out when I met
- 1:43:33you. I wasn't projecting. I'm not projecting. Me and our other friend
- 1:43:39that based me and Brie Brandy old school tea of the gods. O.
- 1:43:44G we knew, we saw all. You were like, m yeah,
- 1:43:48we're not dumb. Y'all's gatar must be off with love of course. Uh
- 1:43:58huh. Yeah. Yeah. But anyway, like I was saying, the
- 1:44:03Bear Otter and Kid chronicles, they do. They hit a lot of different
- 1:44:09subjects when it comes to the struggles of the LGBTQ community. And yeah,
- 1:44:17I think it's just I think TJ. Kluhn is doing a very good job.
- 1:44:20And I enjoy his books very much, so much so that I read
- 1:44:28let me see, I read thirteen of his books within the span of a
- 1:44:31month. Yes, yes, you've mentioned that a couple of times. And
- 1:44:36I gave Devin nothing but shit for it because he was still reading one book,
- 1:44:41you know what. Yeah, I was. I was, and I
- 1:44:45will not apologize for it. And I'm still reading you and I'm still in
- 1:44:49the middle of reading one of his other books too. As of right now.
- 1:44:54It's Okay, boo, just stick to your audiobooks. You know what.
- 1:44:58I am reading his I'm reading of his books right now. I just
- 1:45:00haven't done it recently because I've been moving. I know now I'm moved,
- 1:45:04so now like now, like I had no excuse, but I know nonetheless,
- 1:45:11I'm just giving you ship. I know you're giving me ship. I
- 1:45:15know, what do you think it's gonna happen? I give you ship all
- 1:45:17them only very you give me ship. But next week we're gonna be talking
- 1:45:24about the third book in the series. Yes we are, The Art of
- 1:45:27Breathing. That's a that's a weird name. Well it's it's it's called that
- 1:45:33because it's a reference to one of the ways the kid manages and regulates his
- 1:45:42panic disorder. It's actually something, it's actually something I do. You saw
- 1:45:45me do it. So yeah, So just not not to like build too
- 1:45:51much details, but I got a little too lit a Halloween party that Devin
- 1:45:59and I were at a few weekends ago, and let's just say I got
- 1:46:04a Yeah, I got a little too lit, and it triggered a bad
- 1:46:10panic attack. I haven't had a panic attack like that in a long time,
- 1:46:14Like I was it got. It was bad because I like knew that
- 1:46:19if I I felt like I just couldn't breathe and I couldn't, like I
- 1:46:23thought I was going to pass out, That's how bad it was. So
- 1:46:27the thing is is that whenever I get those things like that, even with
- 1:46:30anxiety, there's this special type of breathing technique that I use. It's not
- 1:46:40so much as like holding my breath. It's kind of like holding your breath,
- 1:46:43but like for some people, they take a deep breath and hold it
- 1:46:47and like maybe like count to ten and then they release it and then take
- 1:46:53another deep breath, and it's supposed to help you control your heart rate and
- 1:46:58keep you from like from your panic attack from escalating further. So it's just
- 1:47:03like it's supposed to be. It's like it's a technique that helps to get
- 1:47:09your body to relax and stop from freaking out and panicking. And the way
- 1:47:14it does, and the art of breathing the title is like is like a
- 1:47:21it's like a direct reference to that because aside from using the using a bathtub
- 1:47:26to cope with his panic disorder, the kid when he doesn't have access to
- 1:47:30one, he often uses a special breathing technique, and I use it,
- 1:47:34though I do things a little differently because for me, I, instead of
- 1:47:39taking a deep breath in, I excel and just hold it and just like
- 1:47:44hold it there, like I don't take a deep breath, but I exhale
- 1:47:47and hold that excel for like, uh as long as I can. And
- 1:47:53if I need to breathe, I'll take a deep breath, a quick deep
- 1:47:56breath and like just bread in and then breathe out and then just hold it
- 1:48:00like that. Because for me, that doing it that way kind of like
- 1:48:05it keeps it causes me to relax a lot quicker. And if I had
- 1:48:12done it any other way, I probably would have like descended further into a
- 1:48:16panic attack in the middle of a costume party. But I came out of
- 1:48:20it pretty quick because I use that breathing technique. And while I'm not saying
- 1:48:27it's a technique everyone should use. If you don't have easy access to antidepressants
- 1:48:31and other medicines that help you with panic disorders, these little exercises are like
- 1:48:40you are going to be your best friends. But anyway, thank you guys,
- 1:48:47We're gonna go ahead and sign off. I hope you enjoyed this episode
- 1:48:49and catch us next week for book three of bear Otter in the Kids Chronicles
- 1:48:55The Art of Breathing. Yeah until then bye, I yeah
