- 0:54take a picture of this
- 1:02I don't know if you can see that.
- 1:04The glare's pretty bad.
- 1:06But the shadow,
- 1:07you can kind of see it
- 1:08right there on the bull.
- 1:09I'm just south of the bullseye.
- 1:12Just south.
- 1:15Dang it.
- 1:19One of these days.
- 1:21One of these days.
- 1:24Good to see everybody.
- 1:26Man, everybody's packed in here.
- 1:28We have a new member, George Wang.
- 1:32George Wang,
- 1:32thank you so much for joining
- 1:34the Clydesdale crew.
- 1:37We appreciate that so much.
- 1:38Helps us run the show.
- 1:40We really, really appreciate that.
- 1:42Thank you so much.
- 1:46Um,
- 1:47we've got trained olive and I know I
- 1:51got a DM from you.
- 1:53I had some thoughts.
- 1:54I can't remember exactly what it was about,
- 1:59but it's been a rough morning.
- 2:01Uh, I'll get, I'll get,
- 2:02I have some thoughts back to you.
- 2:04I know that.
- 2:06Um, so I'll get to that sometime today.
- 2:09We have Corey, we have Lito,
- 2:12we have Meredith, Kenneth, um,
- 2:14Jody Lynn, Denise, Jose.
- 2:18I need to talk to you too, Jose.
- 2:21Excited to see you, buddy.
- 2:23Um, Jay Birch, Aaron Frazier, CrossFact,
- 2:27Christian.
- 2:29What is going on?
- 2:33All right.
- 2:35Um,
- 2:37Excited to see everybody.
- 2:38You guys are killing it.
- 2:40Man, Holly.
- 2:41Holly's killing it this week
- 2:42with some stats.
- 2:45We have some stuff for you
- 2:46for Sunday night.
- 2:48She has kind of figured out, I think...
- 2:53the payouts for the masters
- 2:54crossfit games um based on
- 2:57like percentages and um
- 3:00numbers of people
- 3:00registered for the open and
- 3:03if they keep the same
- 3:04format as last year what
- 3:05that'll be um so we'll try
- 3:08to do that on sunday night
- 3:09and show you all of that
- 3:11stuff jenny thank you so
- 3:13much we got another new
- 3:14member dense updates yeah
- 3:16that font I picked today is
- 3:18dreadful I said it first I said it first
- 3:23Um, a nerd alert.
- 3:24Yes.
- 3:24Holly is,
- 3:26she is the best stats and
- 3:28information person in the business.
- 3:30Um, she works for us behind the shadows,
- 3:32but she is way, way valuable.
- 3:35Um,
- 3:35she puts together numbers for us all
- 3:37the time.
- 3:38And, uh, I,
- 3:40I don't know how we would do it
- 3:41without her.
- 3:47Uh,
- 3:48Aaron, that would be a novel concept.
- 3:51Why don't the Masters just release that?
- 3:52That would be nice.
- 3:54That would be nice.
- 3:55If they actually knew before
- 3:57registering what they could
- 3:58and could not win,
- 3:59it would be kind of nice.
- 4:06Barclay triggered.
- 4:07Yeah, well...
- 4:09He doesn't do it for me.
- 4:11She does it for me.
- 4:12She does it for Jamie and Carolyn.
- 4:15And she's really good for all that.
- 4:17So I am partial to her.
- 4:25Is there a schedule for Masters and Teens?
- 4:27I'm trying to figure out
- 4:27what days to get tickets for.
- 4:30I know that it's Thursday through Sunday,
- 4:33but I don't know how many
- 4:35events each day.
- 4:37I'm supposed to be getting
- 4:38some information on that
- 4:39because I did get approval
- 4:40to do a behind-the-scenes
- 4:41of the Masters games again this year.
- 4:45They're supposed to be
- 4:45sending me floor layouts and a schedule,
- 4:49so I should know more in the coming days.
- 4:57Ken Walters looking forward
- 4:59to Sunday night and
- 5:00Carolyn's response to
- 5:01getting an F from Batman.
- 5:02I think it's justified.
- 5:03I think she'll agree with it.
- 5:05Honestly,
- 5:07she has said on the show several
- 5:08times that she is a school
- 5:12teacher and she does not
- 5:13want to show mid drifts and
- 5:15booty short stuff.
- 5:17And because she goes in
- 5:19front of several kids every
- 5:21day and she she
- 5:24purpose of purposefully
- 5:26wears clothes that don't
- 5:28show off things so I think
- 5:31she'll be fine with it um
- 5:39it's just the podium
- 5:40winners that get prize
- 5:41money in the masters isn't
- 5:42it that is correct that's
- 5:43the way it's been lito I'm I yeah
- 5:52um wow there's a lot going
- 5:54in thank you so much jenny
- 6:02uh let's all support the
- 6:03media we all consistently
- 6:04watch uh two nine nine a
- 6:06month is one fit eight it's
- 6:07less than a roll of thumb tape
- 6:09Thank you.
- 6:11I say the same.
- 6:11That's why I have joined other channels,
- 6:13because I would pay to go to a movie.
- 6:17I would pay to rent a movie.
- 6:19Why shouldn't I pay to watch
- 6:21the content I see every single day?
- 6:27Beard is coming back.
- 6:28You know what that means.
- 6:30I don't know.
- 6:30Cranky Scott's been around
- 6:32both beard and beardless, so we'll see.
- 6:38As you guys know,
- 6:39I'm great friends with Hattie Canio.
- 6:41We're going to do some
- 6:42behind the scenes at the
- 6:43CrossFit Games with her.
- 6:45I did get denied enhanced access.
- 6:48So it's going to be more
- 6:50like away from the arena
- 6:51behind the scenes than
- 6:53necessarily at the scenes at the games.
- 6:57But I did see this.
- 7:00Um, on the CrossFit game site today,
- 7:02I wanted to share that real quick.
- 7:05And that is that, um,
- 7:06they did a feature on her
- 7:07on the CrossFit.com page.
- 7:10If you go to media,
- 7:11there's a feature on Hattie Cano.
- 7:13What a bad-ass pick fire
- 7:16behind her in her whole
- 7:17fire outfit from when she
- 7:19was a firefighter.
- 7:20Um,
- 7:23and uh really cool article
- 7:25about the struggle she went
- 7:26through uh to get a back up
- 7:28to where she is today as a
- 7:30as a phenomenal athlete um
- 7:33so go check that out on the
- 7:34crossfit.com I honestly
- 7:36didn't know crossfit was
- 7:37still doing articles um I
- 7:40haven't seen much promoted
- 7:42and so I actually went to their site
- 7:45And appears they are
- 7:47actually doing articles still,
- 7:49which is blowing my mind.
- 7:53Um,
- 7:55As you can see here,
- 7:56there's the Hattie Cano article.
- 7:58There's Slow Fix,
- 8:01the isometric holds and
- 8:02super slow reps heal stubborn joint pain.
- 8:05Road to the Games, they advertise that.
- 8:07The Course Photos, of course.
- 8:10But yeah,
- 8:10they actually are still writing
- 8:12articles for CrossFit.com,
- 8:14which I had no clue.
- 8:17No clue.
- 8:21But yeah, surprised.
- 8:23Surprised.
- 8:27Shanna, super sticker, dollar ninety-nine.
- 8:30Thank you so much for supporting the show.
- 8:32You're the best.
- 8:33I really, really appreciate that.
- 8:40People talking about FitAid.
- 8:41I used to be so addicted to FitAid.
- 8:44When I was a volunteer,
- 8:46it was unlimited for the volunteers.
- 8:48Just coolers everywhere of it.
- 8:50I probably drank more cans
- 8:52than I should have in a day.
- 8:56And, uh, really love,
- 8:57I love the original and I
- 8:59love the first black can
- 9:01with the gold writing.
- 9:03It's kind of like a purpley grape taste.
- 9:06Um, uh,
- 9:11understand their articles would get
- 9:12more reads if they put them
- 9:13on the main landing page.
- 9:15I don't disagree.
- 9:16And they have not promoted
- 9:17them at all at all.
- 9:20Uh,
- 9:24so uh uh this feels like a
- 9:30throwback but I hate the
- 9:32website the old one needed
- 9:33a refresh not a rebuild
- 9:36yeah I I don't love the
- 9:37navigation of their website
- 9:39uh but there's a lot of
- 9:41fish to fry and I'm not
- 9:42sure where that even um
- 9:46where that even plays a factor
- 9:49Man, Terry, new member.
- 9:51Thank you so much, Terry.
- 9:53Vicky, new member.
- 9:54Thank you so much.
- 9:56We appreciate that very, very much.
- 9:59It really does go a long way
- 10:00to support just having the
- 10:03apps to run the show every day.
- 10:07Denise Moore, what does purple taste like?
- 10:12To call it grape would be disingenuous.
- 10:15I don't think it's fully grape.
- 10:18I think there's some other
- 10:19berry flavor in there.
- 10:20So that's why I said it tastes purple.
- 10:33The CrossFit Games website
- 10:35is kind of like Netflix
- 10:36where you have to dig for info.
- 10:39I hate the netflix
- 10:40navigation if they don't
- 10:42suggest it like how do you
- 10:46how do you find stuff there
- 10:47is a search yeah um but man
- 10:50I don't know I I actually
- 10:54kind of like the hbo max
- 10:56search or app the best uh
- 10:59because you can actually
- 10:59break it down by like genre
- 11:02type and find things pretty fast
- 11:08Uh, black and gold was fit eight RX.
- 11:10I believe that is correct.
- 11:13Trying to live.
- 11:13How do you, how do I become a member?
- 11:15Uh, there usually, um, I know it's,
- 11:18it depends on what you're on, what device,
- 11:21if you are on a laptop for sure,
- 11:24there's a join button at
- 11:25the bottom of the, of the screen,
- 11:28usually right below the
- 11:29person that's talking.
- 11:30And then you just hit that join button.
- 11:33Um,
- 11:35so and I just updated all
- 11:37the badges um so they'll
- 11:39change depending on how
- 11:40long you are a member uh
- 11:41last night uh I noticed I
- 11:44hadn't kind of updated that
- 11:45very much so yeah wow we're
- 11:50ten minutes and I haven't
- 11:50even really hit anything I
- 11:52had on my agenda I'm moving
- 11:54the depleted female field
- 11:56to tomorrow uh because I
- 11:58want to give it a little
- 11:59more time and I had some
- 11:59other things I wanted to talk about
- 12:03Savon says like and subscribe.
- 12:05We like that too.
- 12:11Kenneth, I got a sweet new badge.
- 12:12Yep.
- 12:12I updated all the badges last night.
- 12:15So you should see those in your profile.
- 12:19So cool.
- 12:21the first thing I want to
- 12:22talk about is sneaky big
- 12:23news if people did not see
- 12:25this it was announced
- 12:27yesterday by crossfit and
- 12:31it is that um the heat one
- 12:38app and the crossfit games
- 12:40have formed a partnership
- 12:42this is massive for the sport
- 12:46Um,
- 12:47and I say sport because if you can play
- 12:50fantasy sports and you,
- 12:52or you can bet on a sport,
- 12:56it becomes a sport.
- 13:00What I, what I,
- 13:02why I think this is huge is whenever, um,
- 13:08you have that ability to play along, um,
- 13:15by playing a fantasy sport,
- 13:17or if eventually they can
- 13:19get to the point where you
- 13:20can actually bet on what
- 13:22the action that's going on,
- 13:24it increases the viewership
- 13:26of whatever you can bet on.
- 13:29I know CrossFit, it's not betting yet.
- 13:32It's a step.
- 13:34It's a step.
- 13:35This is fantasy sports.
- 13:37If you have not played on
- 13:38the Heat One app,
- 13:40it is the coolest thing
- 13:43right now that is the only
- 13:44place that I know of that
- 13:46you can go play fantasy
- 13:47sports with CrossFit.
- 13:50And to be partnering with
- 13:51the games is a huge step for them.
- 13:55They partnered with
- 13:55Wadapalooza a couple years ago,
- 13:57and the announcers were
- 13:58using the percentages of
- 14:00who people picked as part
- 14:02of the broadcast, which was really,
- 14:05really cool.
- 14:08And so...
- 14:10What I love about this,
- 14:10you have two options.
- 14:12They have a top ten
- 14:15pick where you just go and
- 14:16you have the female field
- 14:17and you have the men's
- 14:18field and you pick the top
- 14:19ten of who you think is
- 14:20going to finish in that order,
- 14:23or they have what they call shot caller,
- 14:26which you go event by event
- 14:28and you get to pick one male, one female,
- 14:31and one flex pick for every
- 14:33event at the CrossFit Games
- 14:36and you get points based on
- 14:37how close they came to winning.
- 14:43so the further away from
- 14:45first the worse your points
- 14:47are going to be for that
- 14:48individual and sometimes
- 14:51they put a cap on like how
- 14:53many times you can pick
- 14:54somebody sometimes they
- 14:55don't I hope for the games
- 14:58I hope for the games
- 14:59there's a cap on it so
- 15:00people don't just pick tia tia tia tia um
- 15:10See me rolling.
- 15:12Scott,
- 15:13can you do a show with showing us
- 15:15how to use it?
- 15:16I do math for a living and I
- 15:17still don't get it.
- 15:20Yeah.
- 15:22I can do that.
- 15:25I would think Tyler Watkins
- 15:27would be able to do a
- 15:27better job than I do.
- 15:30But I can show you from my
- 15:31perspective how to do it.
- 15:33Because I know Carolyn and
- 15:35Jamie and I all play every single event.
- 15:38Yeah.
- 15:42But it's pretty simple.
- 15:44Once you do it once or twice,
- 15:46it becomes pretty simple.
- 15:52Correct me if I'm wrong,
- 15:53but were they in
- 15:55partnership last year too,
- 15:56or am I imagining things?
- 15:57Obviously, with everything that happened,
- 15:59not many people played.
- 16:01I don't believe they were in
- 16:02partnership last year.
- 16:05I think the only time
- 16:06they've had the major
- 16:07partnership was with Wadapalooza.
- 16:10Um,
- 16:11and maybe it was Lazar's death that
- 16:14made me,
- 16:14maybe they did and it just didn't
- 16:16play out, but I, I, I don't know.
- 16:21I, I really don't believe they did.
- 16:23I think this is the first year,
- 16:25but if I'm wrong,
- 16:26I'm sure someone will correct me.
- 16:30I think you can't call it
- 16:31betting until the results are secure,
- 16:32reliable, and encrypted.
- 16:36Yeah, I agree.
- 16:36We're not too betting yet.
- 16:38That is not the case.
- 16:39But the fact that you can go
- 16:42head-to-head with your
- 16:43friends and think as to who
- 16:46is the better picker,
- 16:48and you can always do side bets.
- 16:50You don't have to do it through the app.
- 16:52You and your friend can have
- 16:53those unofficial bets on
- 16:54the side as to who's going to win.
- 17:06see me roll in few I feel
- 17:07better knowing you didn't
- 17:09don't get it because I
- 17:10couldn't figure it out
- 17:10either yeah it's not it's
- 17:15once you do it once it's
- 17:16pretty easy Sarah Cooper's
- 17:21philosophy is just pick
- 17:22randomly and hope for the best um
- 17:31always forget at least one
- 17:32day and then get smoked
- 17:33with that yeah me too
- 17:34because I'm usually at the
- 17:35event running from thing to
- 17:37thing and sometimes like
- 17:39the internet is not great
- 17:40inside the arena and then
- 17:42man I know it's syndicate
- 17:44one year like I was picking
- 17:46my picks walking into the
- 17:47arena and they didn't take
- 17:49because I just I waited too
- 17:50long but yeah if you're
- 17:53sitting at home it's it's a lot easier
- 18:03um if you're right someone
- 18:04will also correct you this
- 18:06just how the internet works
- 18:08yeah awesome yeah you've
- 18:10got that right so but yeah
- 18:16super big news I think this
- 18:17is as big news as who's
- 18:20going to be at the games
- 18:21because the more and more
- 18:23that people can participate in the action
- 18:27And show that they know more
- 18:29than John Young or that
- 18:30they know more than Savan
- 18:32or that they know more than me.
- 18:35The more that people are
- 18:35going to play these kinds of games.
- 18:38And most of the time,
- 18:39those people all play these.
- 18:40So you can see them on the leaderboard.
- 18:43You can see if you picked
- 18:44better than they did,
- 18:47which makes it a lot, a lot of fun.
- 18:50But if you look at every major,
- 18:53at least American sport,
- 18:54I don't know how it works in Europe,
- 18:56but I think it's big there too.
- 18:58If you can bet or play fantasy on it,
- 19:01that has,
- 19:02and you look at the correlation
- 19:03of viewership,
- 19:04there's a steep incline in
- 19:06viewership when you can
- 19:07play the games with the sport.
- 19:15Uh, Barry McConner,
- 19:16how do we think the partnership started?
- 19:18Wonder if Jenna reached out to Tyler.
- 19:19Yeah, I have no idea how it started.
- 19:22Um,
- 19:22I know Tyler's been working on things
- 19:24like this and the,
- 19:25and did the proof of
- 19:25concept with water Palooza.
- 19:27Um, and once you have the proof of concept,
- 19:31it's a lot easier to show
- 19:32people what you can do.
- 19:40Uh, Judy Reed, Scott,
- 19:41let's meet for a workout
- 19:42and you can give me a heat one tutorial.
- 19:46okay judy um so so that's
- 19:53pretty big um the next
- 19:57thing I want to talk about
- 19:59is um if you don't know I
- 20:01have an mba um a lot of
- 20:03times when greg is on with
- 20:06savan uh he kind of dogs
- 20:09people with with an mba
- 20:13And so I just wanted to
- 20:14point out that I don't
- 20:16always disagree with that statement,
- 20:19but I'm old.
- 20:21And I went back and got my
- 20:22MBA at a much older age,
- 20:24and I did it in person.
- 20:26I did not do it online.
- 20:29And the thing that made my
- 20:30MBA cool was that all of
- 20:32the people in my class...
- 20:34We did it as a cohort.
- 20:36We went from beginning to
- 20:37end as a complete group.
- 20:39And in that cohort,
- 20:41we would have class discussions.
- 20:44And our professors actually,
- 20:45they didn't lecture to us.
- 20:48It was more of a, hey, this scenario,
- 20:50how would you act in this case?
- 20:53How would you handle this?
- 20:54And it became more like case
- 20:56studies and discussions
- 20:59than a lecture series.
- 21:01And if you've done your MBA that way,
- 21:04I think it's extremely
- 21:06valuable and useful in the real world.
- 21:11Because it's not taking what
- 21:12somebody is just telling
- 21:13you and regurgitating it.
- 21:16It is taking something and
- 21:18actually having some
- 21:19creative and intelligent
- 21:21discussion over how the
- 21:23thing can be handled,
- 21:24how you can learn from
- 21:26lessons that other people have done.
- 21:30but I think that what's
- 21:31happened is the whole
- 21:33country has cheapened the,
- 21:35the MBA by having five
- 21:38million options for it all online.
- 21:41You can do it super quick
- 21:42without talking to anybody.
- 21:44I think if you're doing it
- 21:45without a discussion,
- 21:47then you're not doing it in
- 21:48a way that benefits you to have the MBA.
- 21:50Um, it,
- 21:55initially it was designed to
- 21:57have a further depth of
- 21:58thought by moving up a
- 22:01level and then discussing
- 22:02your own experiences with other people,
- 22:06not just sitting there
- 22:08having a professor tell you
- 22:09what you should think and
- 22:10how you should think.
- 22:12And so, so that's,
- 22:19I just wanted to say that.
- 22:21And to say that,
- 22:24the crazy thing about doing
- 22:25this show is I never have a script.
- 22:28Um,
- 22:28I may have like just an outline of what
- 22:30I'm going to talk about, but it does,
- 22:31it has no notes to it at all.
- 22:33And I can even show you like,
- 22:34there's nothing to my notes.
- 22:36Like, it's just,
- 22:37this is a list of things
- 22:38that we may talk about.
- 22:40Right.
- 22:41And so when I go off on like
- 22:43my monologues or whatever, um,
- 22:52When I go off of my monologues,
- 22:54it's all from just the
- 22:55heart and what I'm feeling
- 22:58in that moment.
- 23:04Sorry.
- 23:06And so the other day I
- 23:08talked about WFP forming
- 23:12out of a tragedy.
- 23:14And really what I wanted to
- 23:15say is that if you're
- 23:20building a business,
- 23:22You should be building your
- 23:23business based on your strength,
- 23:25what you can bring to the table,
- 23:28not on the misfortune or a
- 23:32tragedy of another company in the space.
- 23:36And what WFP,
- 23:38and I believe what Metfix is doing,
- 23:41is trying to build a
- 23:42company on the misfortunes,
- 23:45and the tragedy of another
- 23:48company and not based on
- 23:49their own rock solid,
- 23:53built strong beliefs.
- 23:57And because of that,
- 24:00they're struggling to gain
- 24:02traction at this point
- 24:06because they didn't build
- 24:07themselves up to be strong
- 24:08first before they jumped
- 24:11into this mix with everybody else.
- 24:16And I think even the bigger
- 24:17example to this is the PFAA.
- 24:22I've said repeatedly on the
- 24:23show that I think that the
- 24:25athletes should have
- 24:26representation to be able
- 24:28to have a voice.
- 24:29However,
- 24:30they did not start on their own strength.
- 24:35If we go back prior to the
- 24:37games last year,
- 24:40All they talked about was heights of bars,
- 24:44heights of rings,
- 24:46and they didn't really talk about safety.
- 24:48Then a tragedy happens,
- 24:50and all of a sudden, well,
- 24:52we're here for the safety.
- 24:53We're here for the safety.
- 24:57But they didn't build it strong enough.
- 24:59They didn't build their own
- 25:00strength up before they
- 25:03were trying to be
- 25:04opportunistic and take
- 25:06advantage of this tragedy.
- 25:09And because they didn't
- 25:10build their own strength first,
- 25:13they're failing to get any
- 25:15kind of traction moving forward.
- 25:21And that is why everybody is
- 25:23failing around the space.
- 25:27I've said over and over
- 25:28again that I think that
- 25:29what the WFP created as a
- 25:31season structure is sound and makes sense,
- 25:34but they didn't build
- 25:35themselves to be strong
- 25:36before they jumped into
- 25:37this mix to take on CrossFit.
- 25:42And because of that,
- 25:44I believe they are doomed to fail.
- 25:48Initially,
- 25:49I wanted to see if they could
- 25:51make this work so we could
- 25:52see if the structure could work.
- 25:59But at this point,
- 26:01I don't think they have a
- 26:02strong enough base to give
- 26:04us a true idea if they can
- 26:06be successful or not.
- 26:10Just like the PFAA does not
- 26:12have a strong base to show
- 26:16us that they actually
- 26:19represent all of the athletes,
- 26:21that they actually are about safety.
- 26:25They have not done anything
- 26:26in the safety realm to have
- 26:28a proof of concept to take on CrossFit.
- 26:37If you look at CrossFit Safety Council,
- 26:39the members of that board
- 26:41have such a resume in the
- 26:43world of safety that if
- 26:45CrossFit uses them correctly,
- 26:47and they did,
- 26:47they've sent out letters
- 26:48about safety already.
- 26:50And what can impact heat?
- 26:52What can impact the run and row event?
- 26:56They're starting to do
- 26:57things in that direction.
- 26:59I have yet to see anything
- 27:00from the PFAA about the same things.
- 27:09And because I said I was
- 27:10going into that live the other day,
- 27:12I just wanted to kind of
- 27:13clear it up more as that
- 27:17there's all these...
- 27:19for lack of a better term,
- 27:20vultures or piranhas in the
- 27:22water or in the air
- 27:25circling CrossFit because
- 27:26of a tragedy that occurred.
- 27:28And they didn't have their
- 27:32own foundation built first
- 27:35to take on that battle or
- 27:36to take on that war.
- 27:39And now they're losing
- 27:40traction at this moment.
- 27:47So...
- 27:53I don't know.
- 27:53It just irked me today when
- 27:55I saw a Jenny post, uh,
- 27:57Brian friends quote saying
- 27:59that he didn't know if he
- 28:00could be involved.
- 28:00If Dave continued to run a CrossFit,
- 28:04the sport.
- 28:08Um,
- 28:11and I still am confused by that
- 28:12statement.
- 28:14I don't see where it was all Dave.
- 28:20And that monologue was a couple days ago.
- 28:22If you want to go hear that,
- 28:23you can hear that.
- 28:24But it just keeps surprising me.
- 28:37I'm sorry I missed a lot of your comments.
- 28:39And where is the PFAA now
- 28:41demanding to review this year's safety,
- 28:43sending out emails with helpful tips?
- 28:46Exactly what I'm saying, Sarah.
- 28:47Thank you so much for that.
- 28:52pounding that home for me.
- 28:56Patrick Clark,
- 28:57but it took a disaster for
- 28:58that to happen as well for CrossFit.
- 29:02I don't, I don't,
- 29:03I'm not going to completely,
- 29:04I'm not going to disagree with you,
- 29:07but they did take action.
- 29:08They did make changes and
- 29:10they deserve to have credit for that.
- 29:15And there's a whole group of
- 29:16people that are not willing
- 29:17to ever give them credit for that again.
- 29:25Instead,
- 29:25they're putting their eggs in a
- 29:26basket that is teetering on
- 29:29sand that may or may not,
- 29:33that most likely will not
- 29:35succeed at this point.
- 29:46Vicky says, you said it best.
- 29:47Dave either chose or was
- 29:48chosen to take the hit.
- 29:50Seems like he's always
- 29:51played the villain to save
- 29:53everyone else from being attacked.
- 30:03Jenny, like Nick Johnston says,
- 30:05they have agendas.
- 30:11Doug Reed, Scott,
- 30:12hasn't CrossFit always made
- 30:13changes as they've learned?
- 30:15Maybe not to the degree that
- 30:16some wanted to,
- 30:17but they do have a history
- 30:19of improvement.
- 30:20Yeah,
- 30:21you can look at as far back as when
- 30:23Rich fell off the rope.
- 30:24Look at what caught him at the bottom.
- 30:29Nothing.
- 30:30Look what's at the bottom of a rope now.
- 30:37It's simple as that.
- 30:38They've made changes to things.
- 30:42I've said over and over
- 30:43again that when I was a volunteer,
- 30:46I've seen Dave move up and
- 30:48change an event seconds
- 30:50before it was to go live
- 30:52because they saw something
- 30:53that might be dangerous.
- 30:56Go watch other competitions
- 30:58and then watch the CrossFit
- 30:59Games and tell me which place is safer.
- 31:07Corey Leonard, the floor stopped his fall.
- 31:09Yeah.
- 31:10For Rich, the floor stopped his fall.
- 31:12Now there's these big mats that are like,
- 31:14what, two feet thick?
- 31:23Heard athletics.
- 31:23What kind of hat is that?
- 31:24This is a Chicago Bears hat.
- 31:27It's the classic B logo from
- 31:30back in the fifties and sixties.
- 31:43Dave's role feels very Vince McMahon,
- 31:45Gary Bettman, Roger Goodell.
- 31:48Yeah.
- 31:51Those people are hired to
- 31:52take the hit so that the
- 31:53owners don't have to.
- 31:56And in Vince McMahon's case,
- 31:57he just likes to be the bad guy.
- 32:04Yeah.
- 32:13So, of course,
- 32:16it's actually the floor and
- 32:17the Home Depot bucket.
- 32:18Yeah.
- 32:24Oh, Vicky,
- 32:24my husband wants to know what
- 32:25those medals are behind you.
- 32:28It was when I had a phase in
- 32:30my weight loss journey that
- 32:31I ran a bunch of five Ks, five milers,
- 32:37quarter marathons.
- 32:39And that's just the
- 32:39collection of medals I got from that.
- 32:47um uh patrick clark my
- 32:51swimming medals are old and
- 32:53crusty and in a in a box
- 32:55somewhere maybe even gone I
- 32:58don't know so um so anyway um
- 33:14Those are my thoughts there.
- 33:16The last thing I wanted to
- 33:16bring up today is just a
- 33:18thought I had after
- 33:18watching the All-Star game
- 33:20the other night.
- 33:22And shout out O'Neal Cruz,
- 33:24the five hundred thirteen
- 33:25foot home run from my Pittsburgh Pirates.
- 33:28Love that.
- 33:31And my Paul Skeens pitching
- 33:33a perfect inning in the
- 33:35first inning of the
- 33:36All-Star game from my Pirates as well.
- 33:39Great there.
- 33:40But anyway, CK Kevin, yes,
- 33:43there was an All-Star game.
- 33:44I don't care if you like
- 33:45baseball or whatever.
- 33:46This is a different point.
- 33:48The all-star game ended in a tie.
- 33:50And in years past,
- 33:51they either went way into
- 33:53the night in extra innings
- 33:54and then used up a lot of
- 33:58players and teams got mad
- 34:00because their players came
- 34:02back tired and beat up.
- 34:05And then they went to, if it's a tie,
- 34:07it's just going to end in a tie.
- 34:08It's an all-star game.
- 34:09It doesn't mean anything.
- 34:10We're going to end in a tie.
- 34:11They've changed it to do
- 34:13this thing called the swing-off.
- 34:16or as Pat McAfee called it, the dong-off.
- 34:20And what it was is you had
- 34:21to designate three players
- 34:23that if it ended in a tie would go out,
- 34:25get three swings,
- 34:28and they either were an out
- 34:30or a home run.
- 34:32The team that had the most
- 34:33home runs at the end of the
- 34:34dong-off would then win the
- 34:37All-Star game.
- 34:38And it was electric.
- 34:40If you did not see it,
- 34:41Kyle Schwarber came out, three swings,
- 34:43three home runs.
- 34:46Freaking phenomenal.
- 34:49If you think back to
- 34:53CrossFit in the sandbag
- 34:54ladder and the clean ladder.
- 34:57So the clean ladder,
- 34:58I believe was seventeen the
- 35:00year Frazier won the clean
- 35:01ladder and Tia.
- 35:03They had a dong off that was
- 35:06if you tied at the weight,
- 35:08you then had to do quick
- 35:09like five clean and jerks
- 35:11or five cleans and then
- 35:13sprint to the finish.
- 35:16that added so much excitement.
- 35:17It was kind of off to the side.
- 35:20I think if CrossFit were to
- 35:21expand that with something exciting,
- 35:24they would do it where like
- 35:26it was in the center as well.
- 35:28And they did it on the sandbag clean,
- 35:31where if there's a tie,
- 35:32there was three weights of sandbags.
- 35:34You had to throw over a yoke
- 35:36and then sprint to the finish line.
- 35:40I think those,
- 35:41because those clean ladders are so long,
- 35:45and they go so late into the night usually,
- 35:48if you had the dong off
- 35:50where you went over and did
- 35:52the tiebreaker like that,
- 35:54it would add so much
- 35:55excitement to what CrossFit has to offer.
- 36:00Anywhere you can add these
- 36:01little tidbits of
- 36:02excitement to the event that day,
- 36:06you should take advantage of.
- 36:09Yeah.
- 36:13Again, Andrew, I know it's become meh.
- 36:17I'm not debating that.
- 36:19I'm just using the one thing
- 36:20that was cool about the
- 36:21All-Star game and trying to
- 36:26apply it to how CrossFit
- 36:28can make their competitions
- 36:29more exciting.
- 36:31And if we have tiebreakers like that,
- 36:33that were featured after
- 36:34the event with these quick
- 36:36sprints and people trying
- 36:37to get across the line.
- 36:38If you remember Noah Olsen
- 36:40and Saxon Pancheck diving
- 36:42to the finish line in the
- 36:43clean ladder tiebreaker,
- 36:46they were fighting for
- 36:47every stinking point.
- 36:49And in that tiebreaker,
- 36:50it meant something.
- 36:56I think in areas where you
- 36:57can get those big clumps of
- 36:59individuals like in those
- 37:00ladders or another sprint,
- 37:04we should do tiebreakers
- 37:06and feature them more
- 37:08prominently on the floor so
- 37:10everybody can watch it.
- 37:14Jenny says,
- 37:15I like the tiebreakers like that.
- 37:16I'd love them.
- 37:19That clean ladder tiebreaker
- 37:20was so much fun to watch.
- 37:25Judy Reed, the long duck dong.
- 37:27We can name it that.
- 37:27That'd be awesome.
- 37:38Dong off was the old home
- 37:39run derby format.
- 37:41It was modified to be even
- 37:43simpler than the old home run derby.
- 37:46I think home run derby,
- 37:48you had like ten outs per
- 37:51is the original Home Run Derby.
- 37:53This one, it was three swings,
- 37:55whether it was an out or not.
- 37:57So it was limited to just three swings,
- 38:03which made it not long, super quick,
- 38:06super fast.
- 38:12Corey Leonard,
- 38:13sandbag clean tiebreaker
- 38:14with them tossing sandbags was good too.
- 38:16Totally, totally agree.
- 38:18And at the end,
- 38:18I think we had a five-person tiebreaker.
- 38:22And then even at the tiebreaker,
- 38:25Guy and Nick Matthew tied on that.
- 38:34So CrossFit hard part with
- 38:40ladders and the tiebreakers
- 38:42as athletes end up with
- 38:43varied volume over the weekend of work,
- 38:45but I love the optics.
- 38:48Um, and Lito makes a great point.
- 38:50Yes,
- 38:50but they're generally thirty seconds
- 38:52or less.
- 38:52So not really a big issue.
- 38:54Yeah.
- 38:54All the ones that they've used so far, um,
- 38:58have been less than thirty seconds.
- 39:07Uh, that's just awful.
- 39:08Joseph Ramirez, uh,
- 39:10keep doing double unders
- 39:11until someone fails to break ties.
- 39:19And Jenny's right.
- 39:20Yeah,
- 39:21the sandbag one where they had three
- 39:22different sandbag weights,
- 39:25they had to strategize
- 39:26which bag they were going to go to first,
- 39:29which one they were saving for last.
- 39:36And Jenny has seen a max
- 39:38effort double under tiebreak.
- 39:40We had one at a competition
- 39:41here locally that they went hundreds.
- 39:48And it probably lasted
- 39:50longer than anybody wanted it to.
- 39:52So I have a little PTSD on that one.
- 40:00Um,
- 40:01but I just thought what a fun way to
- 40:03like add excitement to an
- 40:05event without a lot of time,
- 40:07without a lot of effort.
- 40:09Um, and the crowd was going nuts, man.
- 40:17I was in the arena for both of those,
- 40:20and the place just went
- 40:21ballistic for every tiebreaker.
- 40:24And it was really hard
- 40:25because some of the
- 40:26finishes were so close,
- 40:27you didn't know who won
- 40:29until they went to the chip timer.
- 40:36Super, super crazy.
- 40:45Corey says,
- 40:46I think I have maybe one
- 40:47hundred and fifty unbroken dubs in me.
- 40:50Maybe that would be so gross.
- 40:58Jody Lynn,
- 40:59did I get any more info on my
- 41:00media on my media seats?
- 41:02I just know I have a seat.
- 41:05I probably won't know what
- 41:06the seat is until I get to the arena.
- 41:10Yeah.
- 41:13But I just know I didn't get
- 41:15enhanced access.
- 41:18So it just changes my plan a little bit,
- 41:20but I'll come up with a
- 41:22cool way to get around that.
- 41:36So.
- 41:38Yeah, this is what happened at ours.
- 41:41I think people went three,
- 41:42four hundred before someone
- 41:44broke in the tiebreaker that I saw.
- 41:54And I think Jeremy's sending
- 41:55Corey a love letter here.
- 42:02So, okay.
- 42:05Well, that's just what I think.
- 42:06I think that would be a way
- 42:07to really add a lot to
- 42:10what's going on and add
- 42:12some excitement to the games.
- 42:16With that, guys,
- 42:18I have an appointment later today.
- 42:20So huge shout out to George Wang.
- 42:24jenny terry and vicky thank
- 42:27you so much for all

- 42:51So you knuckleheads,
- 42:52you get to back to work too.
- 42:55See you soon.
