- 0:27it's a valley brought to you by bet Save Colorado, the exclusive club
- 0:31for passionate gamers and betters across the state. Jeff, how would you describe
- 0:37the situation the Broncos are in now at this moment? Road or do you
- 0:44want to give him the Lieutenant Dance skill? One thing at a time.
- 0:50I would say at this moment, not just for the Raiders game, but
- 0:55in general where they find themselves at all, if they are really going to
- 1:00release Stussell Wilson, as benching him would seem to indicate they're gonna, I
- 1:07think it puts him in a very difficult spot. I'd go as far as
- 1:11to say it's unprecedented in the in the history of the salary cap. Well,
- 1:15we put up a forrest gumps, Uh what do we call this scale?
- 1:19Lie the timeline of of of Bad and it's with Lieutenant Dan's life.
- 1:26So we got kind of at the top of the heap, you Lieutenant Dan,
- 1:29young guy going to war fit whatever. Then all of a sudden the
- 1:32battle happens. That's our second scale, and he started to go down.
- 1:34Then he's in the hospital to Dan legs, No Legs, didn't want the
- 1:38ice cream. And then there's a New Year's party, depressing, just gone.
- 1:45And then he's challenging God on top of a mask, you know,
- 1:47maybe getting a little bit more of his count. And then he's got the
- 1:49new shiny legs and married and Mary a new wive, new shiny legs.
- 1:55Where is the Broncos on that scale? Yeah, they're not to the new
- 1:59part, I guess I would say a long way from the new part.
- 2:02Now they if they really and again, you know, until they officially do
- 2:07it, we sort of have to dance around. But I don't think there's
- 2:10anybody on the on the planet who believes they're not going to release Russell Wilson.
- 2:16If they really do that, then they'll take the biggest dead money hit
- 2:22any team's ever taken, by at least forty million, forty million, bigger
- 2:28than anybody's ever tried in the history of the salary cap. They have.
- 2:32They started the season with the twenty fourth oldest roster in the league. They
- 2:39only have six draft picks, two of them on the first two days of
- 2:43the draft, no second rounder, and they still don't have an answer at
- 2:49quarterback and really no way to sort of improve that. And you know,
- 2:55I ask people all the time, now, what are you realistically think the
- 3:00chances are that the starter behind center in twenty twenty four opening day is actually
- 3:07better than Russell Wilson? I would say zero. Well, so you got
- 3:12him in the in the bed with the bedpan and the you know, the
- 3:14no legs and you know, I mean you got them kind of load.
- 3:22Tell me objectively, how the Broncos have a better starting quarterback in September of
- 3:28twenty twenty four than Oh, no, matter how you feel about how Russell
- 3:31Wilson has played, but tell me who's better some mid level free agent and
- 3:38now you're your quarterback room has sixty million dollars. All right, well,
- 3:40let me ask you this. You're right, I wouldn't disagree whatsoever. Let's
- 3:45turn to the start of twenty twenty five. Would their quarterback be better?
- 3:50Meaning essentially they would draft the quarterback and that guy after a year like Mahomes,
- 3:57year. He is better, there's a better future. He's that guy.
- 4:00What about those? Hey, I gotta draft the quarterback team, Matt,
- 4:04you don't have any draft. You know, you have a roster with
- 4:08three first round picks on it because there's been so much turnover and so much
- 4:13trading of the first round pick. So your only way to move up in
- 4:15the first round is a team that already only has three first round picks on
- 4:21its roster would have to trade more first round picks to move up. And
- 4:30I would say there's no way for the Broncos to have enough juice to get
- 4:35up to get either of the top two quarterbacks in this draft. Trade Patrick
- 4:40Sutan in a first round draft pick for twenty twenty five and give the Bears
- 4:44Jerry Jus look at really, look at what Carolina gave Chicago, and you
- 4:48tell me if that's enough or not. I forget it off the top of
- 4:51my head, refresh my memory. I mean it's it's multiple first rounders.
- 4:58And I mean patser ten is going to be a free agent, so his
- 5:01trade values impacted if you're sending him to a team that can't resign him,
- 5:08you know, So I think it's I think it's fun to talk about,
- 5:12but I don't think it's very realistic to say the Broncos have enough. And
- 5:16again, you're trading first round picks for a team that already is so talented
- 5:23thin they only have three first round picks. There are teams in the league
- 5:28that have eight first round picks on offense or defense, and they've got three
- 5:31on the entire roster, which lends my next question. I mean, this
- 5:36roster, you're talking about second six picks for this knixt draft, no second
- 5:42round picks. Right now, you're sitting at fourteen. It probably would have
- 5:45done you and served you better had you lost last weekend and this coming up
- 5:49weekend, to maybe creep to nine or ten, depend on what other teams
- 5:55do. But that being said, I mean, not only do you not
- 5:59have an answer a quarter back, there's a whole bunch of positions you don't
- 6:01have an answer for either, isn't there Yes, I mean they're they're I
- 6:06don't think I know a lot of people are firing off at confetti cannons because
- 6:11they're going to get rid of us and all that. But I think people
- 6:14really need to objectively look at the decision. In my opinion, was made
- 6:20a year or too early. All they had to do was ride it out
- 6:24for another year. But it looks like they're going to choose not to do
- 6:28that. And like the Packers, the Packers positioned themselves to take on Aaron
- 6:34Rodgers' dead money. They had a quarterback on his rookie deal that they liked,
- 6:41They have the youngest roster in the NFL, and they had thirteen draft
- 6:45picks last April thirteen. That's how you take on dead money. And they're
- 6:50going to make the playoffs probably, so that's a team in position to make
- 6:57that decision. The Broncos made a decision in my opinion, that they were
- 7:00not in a position to make. Well, is this is this ownership Sean
- 7:04Payton or George Bayden? Who has the biggest stamp on this? God,
- 7:10I think it's everybody. There's no way, you know, you could do
- 7:14this. I mean that, you know, Russell says, uh, the
- 7:17top tier people you know, Greg Penner or George Peyton came to him with
- 7:21the contract, you know, discussion and and Sean Payton that you know.
- 7:28I refuse to believe a head coach isn't privy to penching the starting quarterback you
- 7:34know, if he doesn't do something with his contract. What's your biggest shake
- 7:40your head moment of this whole thing that's played out over the past week.
- 7:45Uh, you know, you Mac from talking to everybody, and I talked
- 7:47to a lot of people around the league in how in house here, I
- 7:51think the fact they didn't they didn't tenor the discussion as a discussion. Uh
- 7:58you know, my sources are that it was an ultimatum. So I think
- 8:03they brought a sledgehammer to a discussion fight. Okay, good stuff, Jeff
- 8:07enjoy. Uh you got are they inside or outside today? They're all tied
- 8:13today? Then they h you know, they crank some hells bells right to
- 8:16your practice. Maybe you're new team, dude. Did they put the Raiders
- 8:20logo in the middle of the field the Raiders logo? Isn't he in the
- 8:24middle of the field? Do they know the games inside this week? Uh?
- 8:28You know, I don't know what's the old say trust but verify,
- 8:37verify? All right? Jeff, alright, like we talk to you,
- 8:41Do they know the games inside this week? Well? I don't know.
- 8:46You know what, you know what what they might not PhD two five
