- 1:55John J. Malone. The National Broadcasting Company presents The Amazing Mister Malone,
- 2:08an exciting half hour of mystery starring George Petrie as the lawyer who's practiced before
- 2:15every type of bar has become a legend. Arlocal is the city of Chicago,
- 2:20the time, the present, and the hero of these weekly adventures,
- 2:25The Amazing Mister Malone. Malone's the name John J. Malone, Attorney and
- 2:44constor at law. Those of you who have dropped by the office before know
- 2:49how proud I am in my collection of cliches. Tonight's let's explore the possibilities
- 2:53offered by Sikh and you shall find. I suppose that goes for headaches too.
- 2:59There's a case in points. I'll give you a Larry Barker. Larry's
- 3:02the rugged looking boy making his way down the fourth floor corridor of the Martin
- 3:06Building right now. He's looking for trouble, and when he stops in front
- 3:09of room four nineteen, the odds are twenty to one will find it.
- 3:16Yeah, I'm looking for Frank Pulaski. If you don't find him, it
- 3:20because you didn't try the right place. You PLASKI, uh huh. My
- 3:25name is Larry Barker, the bookie. I don't think we have to go
- 3:29into that. Whatever you say, mister Barker, Sinna. Thanks. What
- 3:35can I do you for him? That remains to be seen. Someone told
- 3:39me you're one of the best private detectors in Chicago. Naturally, I ain't
- 3:44going to deny it, but I always soon find out. Take a look
- 3:46at this picture. You're not then that happens to be my wife. It's
- 3:51even better. I don't like those kind of jokes, PULASKI sorry. Now
- 3:55do you think you could watch it for me? I don't know why not.
- 4:00The first name is Sheila, Sheila. Yes, I want to follow
- 4:02day and night. I want to know everyone she sees. But everyone?
- 4:08Can you handle it? Well, let's see if we understand each other.
- 4:11Mister Barker, you suspect your wife's running around? Did I say that?
- 4:14Why else would you want to stick a tale? Anna? That's none of
- 4:16your business. Now, either you want the job or you don't want to
- 4:19run into a lot of deals. Oh so what about in advance? No
- 4:25dice, look for a job like this. I'll have to put on three
- 4:27extra men. I don't care how many you put on in my business.
- 4:30I only pay off on results. I don't do business that way, mister
- 4:33Bodker, Well I do. In that case, we're both wasting time.
- 4:36You got to find yourself another boy, and I got to find myself another
- 4:40client. Let's hope we both know where to look. Oh, taxi,
- 4:53taxi? Can I hope your honeyed taxi? You don't seem to be having
- 4:56much luck. Maybe I'll do better call a car. Now, wait a
- 4:59minute, baby, I'm not trying to pick that up taxi. I mean
- 5:00it, missus Barker. Look, how did you know my name? Oh?
- 5:04You'd be surprised that I know by you, Sheila. Maybe you'd like
- 5:08to look at my curd Frank Pulaski Private Investigation. Your hobby was in to
- 5:14see me yesterday, Larry, What did he want? This is no place
- 5:17to talk now. Look, I got a brand new car right around the
- 5:20corn. You can say anything you've got to write here. It's kind of
- 5:25embarrassing, Shiller. I don't like to be seen taking money from a woman
- 5:29in a public thoroughfare. What are you talking about? Well, naturally,
- 5:31you can't expect me to divulge this kind of information for free. You're absolutely
- 5:36right, mister Pulaski. So you keep your information and I'll keep my money
- 5:41TAXI looks like I ain't going to make a buck from the Baker family.
- 5:45No harm, but I like you better than I do your husband. Thanks,
- 5:47No, I mean it. If I were you should, I'd watch
- 5:50my step. Larry's checking up on you. You're a lying NOPs. A
- 5:54matter of fact, I did a little checking on you myself. Why you
- 5:57can not take it to you as far as I can and learn you never
- 6:00want step out of line the matter what that husband he is anyway, be
- 6:03out of his mind. You may be right, how are you, honey,
- 6:06I'd never put up with it. Thanks for your advice, mister Pulaski.
- 6:11I'll let you know if I take it that just a second, I
- 6:26said, just a second, what's the idea? Oh? Hello, you
- 6:32must be John J. Malone. I ain't young doctor. Your office told
- 6:36me i'd find you here. They have orders not to tell anyone that,
- 6:39so your secretary said. But when she noticed I was a blonde, she
- 6:43seemed to think it made a difference. I kind of think of it.
- 6:45She's right, Come on in, lover, the name is Barker, Missus
- 6:47Barker. I don't like to be formal with my clients. What makes you
- 6:51think I'm going to be a client? You mean this is a social call.
- 6:55It's even better sit on, Thank you cigarette, No thanks, if
- 7:00you don't mind, mister Malone, I'd like to get right down to business.
- 7:02All you pretty women are alike? Okay, Sheila? When do you
- 7:06want me to start suits? When do I want you to start suit?
- 7:10Well? Don't you want a divorce? How did you know that? Didn't
- 7:12they tell you? I was amazing? How did you know I wanted a
- 7:15divorce? Well, you announced yourself as missus Barker, and then I took
- 7:17a look at your left hand, that little white ring of flesh told me
- 7:20you were wearing a wedding band till a couple of hours ago. That's pretty
- 7:24obvious. It always is after someone points it out. What's your husband do?
- 7:28He's a betting commissioner. You wouldn't be married to Larry Parker. Yes,
- 7:30I'm impressed. I hope you do as well on your next marriage.
- 7:33There's not going to be a next marriage. I just want a divorce.
- 7:38I don't even want alimony. Why have you ever been married to a jealous
- 7:42man, and not recently. I am not clowning, mister Malone. Sorry.
- 7:46Larry and I were married six years ago, and ever since the first
- 7:48day he suspected the worst. Does he have reason? No? You know,
- 7:53I believe you. Thanks, that's quite all right. But if Larry
- 7:57had no cause to be jealous, why is it? I don't know,
- 7:59and I don't care. He's killed everything I ever felt for him. He
- 8:03even tried to hire a private detective to keep tabs on me, a man
- 8:07named Frank Puleski. That was the final story. I don't blame you,
- 8:11but suppose Larry won't agree to a divorce? What then? I thought you
- 8:16were the lawyer. That's right. I am all right, Chila. I'll
- 8:20let you know when I do about something. And in the last three weeks,
- 8:31yes, there can I help you? Larry Barker in, Well,
- 8:35he's very busy. He can't be that busy. Al Donald's here. What
- 8:41is it, joyce a gentleman to see mister Barker. He wants to speak
- 8:43to you personally. His name is Al Donaldy. We'll send him right in.
- 8:48Please go in. Thanks? Where do I go? What are you
- 8:52right? Glad to see you, mister Barker. What have you got?
- 8:58Plenty? I told you my outfit to livers the goods. Lucky he didn't
- 9:01get yourself sided up with that, Frank VELASKI, Oh, what's the story?
- 9:03That's what you thought? Your wife's been seeing some guy on the slide.
- 9:07I knew it. I knew it. Spent practically the whole afternoon in
- 9:09his apartment. Who is he? John J. Malone? A lawyer and
- 9:15you know his rep I've heard a couple of stories. Well, yeah,
- 9:18just a case of putting two and two together. All right, donnelly beat
- 9:22it? What about my check? I'll nail it on. I luck,
- 9:26mister Barker, what's the matter? Don't you trust me? Odd deal called
- 9:30for something quite different. I'll just for that. You'll wait, Joyce show
- 9:35him out. I have a mind and find my own way out. What
- 9:41happened? Nothing? That wasn't the impression I got listening at the door,
- 9:45So you were eavesdropping. I guess I should be ashamed of mine. I've
- 9:48got a good mind, Oh you have, Larry, Mine's the one that's
- 9:50bad. I think at nine years I would have gotten smarter. What are
- 9:54you babbling? About it. It was just reminiscenty do it on your own
- 9:56time. I don't have any time of my own. Every minute belongs to
- 9:58you. Remember. Are you going to stop that again? Yes? I'm
- 10:01entitled to know where I stand. You've been stolen me long enough, nine
- 10:05years, nine rotten years. Well now you got ground for a divorce.
- 10:09I heard what that Donnelly said, she lives been running around with Malone.
- 10:15You didn't actually think I was going to marry you? Yes, I did
- 10:20this, stupid little fool. While Sheila is worth a million like you,
- 10:24no better than I am, as Malone, you keep your mouth shut,
- 10:28understand. Don't you dare say a word about her. I only hope mister
- 10:33Malone is his gallant. Don't give it a thought, Joyce, he won't
- 10:37talk. I'll see to that personally. It's just one of those crazy things.
- 10:56To one of those bells that now and that rings, jos one of
- 11:00those alone. It was, how did you get mere? What difference does
- 11:05it make? Shut the door? I take it that gun is loaded.
- 11:11What do you think it proves conclusively? I should never show up at my
- 11:13office as long as I stay in my apartment. Yes, you do,
- 11:18all right, there. Don't you come again. I understand you and my
- 11:22wife had a nice little talk today. Oh you must be Larry Barker.
- 11:24How did you get it's figured? How long have you been carrying on with
- 11:30Sheila? How long have I want you hurt me? Yeah? But I'm
- 11:33sure I misunderstood you think your wife and me. Yes, you've got a
- 11:37real nasty mind. You tell me something, Barker, How do you get
- 11:41like that? The way I see it, either you once took a beating
- 11:43from some woman or old body puts anything over on me? And I got
- 11:48another theory. You must be playing around yourself. An sure, I bet
- 11:52that's it. So because you can't be trusted, you don't believe anybody else?
- 11:56Can I guess that means I'm right? Euh, you're gonna stay away,
- 12:00Sheila? You who's gonna make me? Do you think you gotta kick
- 12:07coming? You're absolutely right? Malone? All right, come on, Malone,
- 12:20it's time to rise and shine. Are you gonna lay there and panthy
- 12:24yourself? Oh? Oh, just open those big brown eyes and look.
- 12:33Oh that wouldn't be Lieutenant Brooks, give nod. What are you doing here?
- 12:37Now? That's no way to talk to a man who saved your life.
- 12:39Oh save my life? Sure, while you were out cold, I
- 12:43sampled some of your licky. You know that stuff could kill help me if
- 12:46I were you, kiddo. I stay right there and they save you.
- 12:48Another trip down? All right? Who did this job on you? Never
- 12:50mind? Marry Parker, wasn't it. I'm psychic about Bark. You'll take
- 12:54care of him. Couple of boys down at headquarters think you did already?
- 12:58Yeah, yeah, I find his body twenty minutes ago with three slugs in
- 13:01his brain. Oh no, oh yes, and you'll die when you find
- 13:05out who they think put of me. You want to put your head on
- 13:09Malone? Oh would you go like that? You are listening to the amazing
- 13:18mister Malone. It's the Silver Jubilee on NBC now Sunday. We've got more
- 13:30shows that promise to deliver the tops in mystery adventure listening. For example,
- 13:33Tom Conway stars as that always Debonair gentleman adventurer Simon Templar alias the Saint.
- 13:39Then there's Dimension X with stories of science fiction, tales of the universe as
- 13:45it might be in the future, and a little later, join mister Moto
- 13:48in his latest adventure. Yes, Sunday means great listening for you with the
- 13:54Saint Dimension X and mister Moto all over this NBC station. And now back
- 14:01to the amazing missed the Malone. It just goes to prove you should never
- 14:18sleep in the daytime. Here Larry Barker tucked me in. When I awoke,
- 14:22a police lieutenant named Sidney Brooks was standing over me. I couldn't make
- 14:26up my mind which was more frightening Brooks news or his face. But no,
- 14:28matam malone, you look unhappy. Let me get this straight. Lut
- 14:31you got it straight. Larry Parker has been murdered and you think lots of
- 14:35possibility. You had to run in with him when you found me. I
- 14:37was unconscious. How do I know you weren't face? What are you getting
- 14:41so excited for? I said it was a possibility. The probabilities are something
- 14:46else at you. It was your trouble with Barker. Oh you had some
- 14:50screwy idea. I was horsing around with his wife. Weren't you? No
- 14:54slipping? This is not the Malone I know and love. Sheela came to
- 14:56me to get her a divorce. Why she got another guy on the string.
- 14:58Oh, she just in the stomach, Larry anymore. He was crazy
- 15:01jealous. I saw he probably never would have let it go. Well,
- 15:03that problem's over now, you know. I hate to disagree with your counselor,
- 15:07but I think her problems the first beginning. I don't see how you're
- 15:09not looking in the right places. You say Barker was crazy jealous. He
- 15:13would afforded divorce, so she took the other way of getting rid of it.
- 15:16You're crazy, you know. I would have bet you'd say that whenever
- 15:20you were stuck for a name, I told you she didn't kill a lieutenant?
- 15:22Where is she not? Where else would she be in the brig?
- 15:24Now, how in the world did you ever forget that? As you know,
- 15:28I guess you were amazing. All right, Malone, let's go.
- 15:41I didn't kill him alone. You've got to believe that. I'm sorry.
- 15:45I can't make it unanimous, Brooks. Why don't you use your head for
- 15:46a change. Why don't you you admit her husband would have fought the divorce.
- 15:50How would he know? I was getting one, Malone? Tone,
- 15:52I did not. He thought our relationship was purely social, all right?
- 15:56She told that's not true? And when Larry said he wouldn't let you go.
- 15:58You let it have it. You don't believe that yourself, but she's
- 16:02here, Edgie, and I must believe. Look, Sidney, you got
- 16:03this all wrong. What was Barker killed? Six o'clock tonight? All right,
- 16:07Chila? Tell him what you were doing at that time? I was
- 16:10watching television? Oh what you said? Don't be so cute? All right?
- 16:12All right, Sheila, where were you watching this? You should excuse
- 16:15the expression television at home. It's funny you didn't see your husband's murder.
- 16:21I guess, sir Milton Burrow was much more exciting. Oh wait a minute,
- 16:25I forgot at about a quarter of six, I went out for a
- 16:29war. Oh come now, honey, you can do better. Why don't
- 16:30you give that tongue of years arrest? Listen, Chila, did anyone see
- 16:33you while you were on? No? Well, when you got back to
- 16:36that, she never got back. We picked her up on Madison in Van
- 16:38Buren. That's the police for he always molesting innocent bystanders. Yeah, that's
- 16:41a sweet beat her too, Sessman, and I took turns. I got
- 16:45tired. I want to just scout around and found out who else who had
- 16:47an inpro Barker. He got me suggestions. Yeah, Larry was playing around
- 16:51on the side. I don't believe it. Of course he was. He
- 16:52practically admitted in my office. That's why I was ready to believe the worst
- 16:56of you to justify himself. Well, assume me and mark you, I
- 17:00say, assume me. I hear there was another woman. So what we'll
- 17:03know that? What when you find her? You mean, when you find
- 17:06her you expect me half. I've done my partlem alone, I found Shiela.
- 17:11You'll get your own girl. Who there? Who's there? Hi?
- 17:23Joyce? Got your nerve? That's what they all say. Mister. I
- 17:27don't know who you are, but if you don't get out of here,
- 17:30you call a cap Yes, the number is State four eight nine five six.
- 17:37What are you waiting for? Who are you? Pulaski? Is my
- 17:41name? Frank Pulaski. I'm a private dick, you know, like the
- 17:45falcon? What do you want? Okay? Why don't I sit down?
- 17:51So this is what they call a love nest? What do you mean by
- 17:53that? Nothing too bad about your boss? My boss, Larry Bonker?
- 18:00Somebody done him in good lion, I think, So here you take a
- 18:04look at this headline bookie killed in Gold Coast apartment Lawrence Barker, better known
- 18:11Oh no, well that's the way it goes, Larry. Is this why
- 18:19you came here? Not exactly. You see, the cops think his wife
- 18:23knocked him off. They're crazy. Well, she seemed like the best bed.
- 18:27Of course, you and I know better. What do you mean,
- 18:32Well, Barker came to my office yesterday to hire me to keep tabs on
- 18:34his missus. That's a lie. He hired al Donnelly. Sure, but
- 18:40that was only after I turned him down. Now he was a tough man
- 18:42to get a buck out of it. You think his wife would be more
- 18:45generous? Huh? Well, I thought she at least would let me have
- 18:48a hundred for tipping her off what was going on? But no, So
- 18:52then I thought, of you, I don't understand, Pulaski. Well,
- 18:56I wondered why a guy like Barker would be watching his missus when she never
- 19:00won straight off the reservation. Then it occurred to me that maybe he liked
- 19:04to put on the war paint himself. I wouldn't know. Are you kidding,
- 19:07Joyce? Who would know better? Are you suggesting get out. Oh
- 19:14no, you don't want to take that attitude, Sweeten. My guy said
- 19:15this was only a theory. Now for five hundred clams, I'd be willing
- 19:19to forget it get out. If I do, I'll go straight to Malone.
- 19:25I don't care where you go. Well, you can't say later that
- 19:29I didn't give you a chance. I'll bet your ten Malone will be willing
- 19:32to take it. Yeah, Hi am alone. Oh I know you no,
- 19:48but think what you've been missing. I wanting to pass it up.
- 19:49I'll be making a great mistake. Counselor, you're representing Sheila Barker, aren't
- 19:55you. Well? How'd you like to get her off? Maybe you better
- 19:59come in? Hey, your lawyers do all right? I don't believe you
- 20:04mentioned your name. I don't believe I did. It's Pulaski, Frank Polanski.
- 20:08Oh, don't something you heard of me? Only this afternoon, Sela
- 20:11Barker told me you were working for her husband. She got the story twisted.
- 20:15He wanted me to go to work, but I couldn't see it.
- 20:18We couldn't get together on a feet. That's tough, tougher than you think.
- 20:22Imagine me sitting here with everything I know and what do you know?
- 20:26What five hundred feet? I suppose I told you the baka was playing around?
- 20:30I figured that out for myself. Yeah, but I know her name.
- 20:33Wouldn't she pay off? Well? You must have braced her first.
- 20:37You know you're pretty cute. How about you say that to all the boys?
- 20:41Who's the girl? Let me see the color? You don't come,
- 20:42onski? Who's the girl? I asked you? Who's something? I don't
- 20:47ever do that again? Oh? Tep me? Now what's your name?
- 20:52Well? Joyce, Joyce Crane, wouldn't be trying to kill me with you
- 20:55when I not? If you on your right mind, where can I find
- 20:56her? That comes to thanks a lot, Pulaski. You've been a great
- 20:59health. It's okay, counsel. The pleasure was on mine. You'll be
- 21:02surprised to what I'll do for you in the future. Hello, whatever you're
- 21:17selling, mister, I'm not interested? Do you know you see my line?
- 21:19Take my chance? You can't afford to Joyce? Aren't you being just
- 21:23a little bit familiar? What do you think about? Obnoxious? Now?
- 21:26Wait? Do you know me better? My name is Malone, so well,
- 21:29let me get myself my full building it's John J. Malone, attorney
- 21:32in consted law. All right for you, I come in. You can
- 21:34say everything you want to right there. Everything. Look, you're not fooling
- 21:40me, Malone. I know Pulaski's been to see you. Oh. I
- 21:42kind of hope you would be a surprise. No, he announced his intention
- 21:45as he left. I see, I see something else. What Harry Barker
- 21:51was right, You wouldn't have made him a good wife. You're much too
- 21:52possessive. What you careful? It may be kiddies listening, but you are
- 21:56possessive. You proved it when you killed him. Get out, so you're
- 22:00forgetting lover. I am out. You never invited me in, mister big
- 22:06mouth. I had to go and remind you. Hey, buddy me,
- 22:18Yeah, I wonder if you could settle an argument for me and my friend.
- 22:22What is it? He says here, John J. Malone, Well,
- 22:26and I got a gun that says you're going to get in this car.
- 22:29Who's right? Apparently both of you get in. You fellows ought to
- 22:36be ashamed of yourselves. You're just confirming whatevery stranger thinks about your cargo.
- 22:40Things like this don't happen anymore. They Yeah, I guess they do.
- 22:45Well? Whose lap do I sit on? Oho, Holly and watch him?
- 22:51You know, I got a friend who won't believe this. He's a
- 22:52police lieutenant. Think of that. You're not even impressed. You think it's
- 22:57feelings will be hurtsolutely. So I tell him, you talk too much?
- 23:03Small You may be right? Should I am? I? I don't know,
- 23:07I talk too much too? All right, Wally, Let's find a
- 23:11nice quiet spot. But instead of all this dialog, we can get a
- 23:17little action. You are listening to the amazing mister Malone. It's the Silver
- 23:33Jubilee. On NBC Sunday, the NBC Symphony inaugurates its nineteen fifty one summer
- 23:37concert series. Conducting the orchestra will be the world renowned Alfred Wallenstein, with
- 23:42the Chris Mancel glamorous Opano of the Metropolitan Opera as guest soloist. Also in
- 23:48the Sunday listening lineup is another visit with the Blandings. The Blandings, as
- 23:52portrayed by Betsy Drake and Kerry Grant, are the proud but somewhat harried owners
- 23:56of that famed dream house. The NBC Symphony Summer CONTs and mister and Missus
- 24:00Blandings show our only two of the fine programs heard Sunday as part of NBC
- 24:06Silver Jubilee, and all back to the amazing mister Malone, Well that's life
- 24:22for you, obviously. Somewhere along the line, I put my foot in
- 24:26it. Five minutes after while he found his nice quiet spot. That same
- 24:29foot was around my neck. The next thing I knew, I was the
- 24:30police headquarters. And then it begun to rain. But I was the only
- 24:34one getting wet. Lieutenant Brooks was in charge of the downfall. Cut that
- 24:40out you want to draw? I thought that would bring you around. You
- 24:41didn't have to do that. It was too good an opportunity to waste his
- 24:45towel. Thanks to get to the back of your neck, Malone, you're
- 24:48not dry behind the ears. Oh that's a good one. How'd I get
- 24:51here? Anyway? A proud car found you in Evans, recognizing you as
- 24:55my comrade in arms. They brought you here. Why didn't they take me
- 24:57to a hospital? What a scot them? If they head? Where's Sheila
- 25:00Barker? I wish he'd been for the past twelve hours. You gotta let
- 25:03her go. What do you think did this job on me? You tell
- 25:04me you were there. Well, I don't know their names, but they
- 25:07were obviously hired by the same party who killed Larry Barker. If you want
- 25:10to discus, I wouldn't care to hear it. How low you already picked
- 25:12him up. One is Wally Forbes and the other is a boy named Tony
- 25:15Ferrara. How do you know they're the right one? They admitted it.
- 25:18Oh, well, then we shouldn't have any trouble getting them to confess that
- 25:21Joyce hired him. That I don't. Look, they're friends of Frank PULASKI.
- 25:26Yeah, yeah, they were just doing them a favorite. I don't
- 25:29get it, Brooks. I just don't get it. When you would if
- 25:32I had my way, I tell you Sheila didn't kill her husband right.
- 25:34Wait a minute, Wait a minute, I just thought us. Oh no,
- 25:37not again. What does it take to stop you? Parker had a
- 25:40private dick working for him, but last year, no, this was another
- 25:41boy named what was his name? How should I know? Well, Joyce
- 25:45Crane would what do you say we go up and see her? Look,
- 25:48Look, you know you've had a tough day. Now, Why don't you
- 25:51let me drive you home. What's the point? There ain't no gal there
- 25:53No Joyce runs a much livelier spot. Let's try it anyway. Hello Joyce
- 26:12again, I wouldn't slam the door lover. This time I brought along a
- 26:15friend. This is Lieutenant Brooks. How you do look, Lieutenant? I
- 26:18don't know what Malone told you. That's just the trouble. He didn't tell
- 26:21me a thing. Maybe you can help out. May we come in?
- 26:22No? I think we'd better. Is that an official request? But I
- 26:26didn't flash my badge. Look, why can't we keep this on a friendly
- 26:30basis? Well I don't like him me. Hey, the girl's got taste,
- 26:36thank you. Now, what do you want to know? Well,
- 26:40mister Malone here has come up with a very interesting theories. You see,
- 26:42Joyce, there's one character in this little drama we've forgotten. Now, you
- 26:47don't believe that Chila killed Larry Barker, do you? Yes? I do?
- 26:51You've changed your mind. It's a woman's prerogative. Well, let's hold
- 26:55Chilea in a veyance for a while. But getting back to this character we've
- 26:57overlooked. What's the name of the private Larry hired? I mean PLASKI?
- 27:02Oh no, PLASKI never went to work for him. This is the boy
- 27:03who actually did the job, the one who tailed Chila to my apartment.
- 27:06Al Donnelly, Donnelly, that's the name. That's you gotta do with this.
- 27:08Well, let's suppose Larry never paid him for the job. He didn't,
- 27:12and that gives Donnelly a motive. You're crazy. The only reason Larry
- 27:15didn't pay him is because he was busy. Donnelly expected to be paid right
- 27:19there and then. No, Larry had a right to check and see whether
- 27:22his information was the McCoy. Once Larry found out Chila was retaining you to
- 27:26get her divorced, he agreed to pay off. How do you know that?
- 27:30Because Larry told me as much, And as your theory, Tyla killed
- 27:33him. She knew she'd never be free any other way. You already want
- 27:37to see her burn, don't you? Most certainly DoD thirsty little girl ain't
- 27:41Why what do you say? I say it's about time you did something.
- 27:45What are you mumbling about? She's the one we want. That's possible too,
- 27:48but it doesn't alter the conclusion. You kill Larry Parker. Yes,
- 27:52all right, Brooks, fool everybody and make like a police lieutenant. Hey
- 28:11Malone, Oh, what's trouble, little man? Something bothering you? Yeah,
- 28:15you're breathing. Why did Joyce kill Black? I told you that at
- 28:18the beginning she was in love with him and she was getting older every day.
- 28:22Now, what's that supposed to me? She's been going with him for
- 28:23nine years, always deluding herself. At some day, Marrier and she finally
- 28:27woke up. He was kidding him slugs? Yep? Had she discovered that
- 28:33from Barker's actions here? He thought his wife was giving him a dose of
- 28:36his own medicine. And he still refused to let Shila go. But you'll
- 28:38never guess what clinched him want Yeah, probably not well. When Larry came
- 28:42to my apartment, he accused me of running around with Sheila. He slugged
- 28:47me before I had a chance to tell him Sheila merely retained me to get
- 28:49a divorce. Yeah, but Joyce came. Larry told her that, which
- 28:52proved conclusively she was lying. Well, all I can say is all that
- 28:56publicity certainly went to your head. What are you talking? Well? Time
- 29:00magazine said you were a great novelty. Oh that a guy who doesn't get
- 29:03bopped on a naggin, but it certainly proved them wrong. Today they also
- 29:07said you were a great switch for a radio cop, that you seem to
- 29:10know your business. Say, have any doubt about that? Well, show
- 29:12me where you did so great here? Well, that's easy. I'd put
- 29:17Hila Barker in jail and you were the one who got around. You're done
- 29:19to Yeah, but now that she's out, where is she? Hey,
- 29:25that's right, I owt a caller for a day. You'd be wasting your
- 29:29time causetantly. You mean she's going out with you? Yeah, you know.
- 29:33I guess I'm pretty amazing myself. Then time alone. You ever heard
- 29:48the story of the great athletes? This boy went in for field events.
- 29:52He used to put the shot. One day, he put it in the
- 29:56wrong place. I'll tell you all about it next week. So why not
- 29:59pick me up at my office same time. I'll be waiting for you nights.
- 30:07George Petrie was starred as John J. Malone with Larry Haynes as Lieutenant
- 30:11Brooks. Our program is written by Eugene Wang and directed by Richard Lewis.
- 30:15The Amazing Mister Malone is based on the character created by Craig Rice and produced
- 30:21by Bernard L. Schubert. The events and characters in this story were entirely
- 30:23fictional. On any resemblance to persons living or dead is entirely coincidental. This
- 30:29is Fred Collin speaking the amazing mister Malone has come to you from New York.
- 30:36Stay tuned for the man called X next over most NBC stations, Welcome
- 30:48back. Well, look, the balog in this episode was just wow.
- 30:52It was really probably some of the most over the top, hard boil dialogue
- 31:02we've heard in just a real in a really long time, and I loved
- 31:07it. Just a lot of clever terms, very nicely done, and kind
- 31:15of cute how they worked. In the review from Tom Magazine, Oh,
- 31:19I could almost find the Tom Magazine review somewhat surprising, because we know this
- 31:25was essentially the same show, only with different stars as the nineteen fifty series
- 31:32on ABC, but ABC was not as widely watched by Americans, and perhaps
- 31:37it wasn't watched as widely by television reviewers or radio reviews. Excuse me anyway
- 31:44to listener comments and feedback. Patrick says of our star George Petray, loved
- 31:48him in The Honeymooners, and he did actually have a recurring roles in the
- 31:59Honeymooner series, most notably apparently as fred Freddie Mueller, but did other roles
- 32:07as well. Appeared in fourteen of the Classic thirty nine. One way or
- 32:13another. I've seen a few of the Honeymooners, but that's on one of
- 32:16my list of things to do is to watch all of the classic thirty nine.
- 32:22Haven't quite made it yet, but we'll get there one of these days.
- 32:25All right, Well, that will do it for today. We will
- 32:29be back tomorrow as the Shepherd matter continues, and then join us back here
