- 1:30Speaker 2: the one that Biggie died the party of the Vibe Party.
- 1:33Speaker 2: He said, I'll never forget. He was on the back
- 1:35Speaker 2: of the plane and he had like three seats. This
- 1:37Speaker 2: was not first class, and he had like notes everywhere
- 1:40Speaker 2: and he was just plotting. I'm like, what you about

- 2:28Speaker 4: Collaboration is better than competition for sure.
- 2:30Speaker 3: But then the last thing before we get started is
- 2:32Speaker 3: that we got our workshop series that we're launching, and
- 2:35Speaker 3: that's gonna be once a month in New York City.
- 2:37Speaker 3: So we bring on guests from like all different areas
- 2:39Speaker 3: of real estate and law and ALSOFF and people get
- 2:42Speaker 3: educated on the podcast, but it's they they want even
- 2:44Speaker 3: more education. So this is gonna be opportunity for people
- 2:47Speaker 3: to actually meet these people in person and ask them
- 2:49Speaker 3: questions and kind of like like a mini seminar in
- 2:52Speaker 3: the sense. So it's gonna be in person in New
- 2:54Speaker 3: York City, but it's also going to be live stream,
- 2:56Speaker 3: so anybody in the world, all over the world, you
- 2:58Speaker 3: can check it out. So that's only events have also,
- 3:01Speaker 3: So all right, so now thank you, so yeah, so
- 3:05Speaker 3: we have Kenny burn so first and almost thank you
- 3:07Speaker 3: for rocking with us.
- 3:08Speaker 2: Thank you for coming. I appreciate it. Yeah, So Curator
- 3:11Speaker 2: of Culture. Is that a good title for you? Hey?
- 3:13Speaker 2: You know, I take it. Yeah, I like it. Man.
- 3:15Speaker 5: When I when I when I think of your career
- 3:17Speaker 5: and it's an extensive one, I'm like lifestyle coach, not
- 3:21Speaker 5: not lifestyle coach, lifestyle specialists, but even more so a
- 3:24Speaker 5: curator of culture.
- 3:25Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean I like to you know, the word
- 3:28Speaker 2: curate is a very sensitive word, you know what I'm saying.
- 3:31Speaker 2: I actually had a conversation with one of my mentees
- 3:33Speaker 2: the other day. He was like, yo, I curated this event.
- 3:37Speaker 2: He was like, uh, Kanye West is Sunday service at
- 3:41Speaker 2: new Birth And I'm like, wait, wait, wait, you can't
- 3:44Speaker 2: say it. You curated that, Like you know what I'm saying,
- 3:47Speaker 2: Like you got to say, like you help. It's some
- 3:49Speaker 2: people there. You brought a couple, I did the lights. Yeah.
- 3:54Speaker 2: So I but curate is accurate when it comes to me.
- 3:56Speaker 2: I've been a part of a lot of pivotal points
- 3:59Speaker 2: and in him pop history, and yeah, I kind of
- 4:02Speaker 2: like just carved my own way out. So yeah, I'll
- 4:05Speaker 2: take that curator all day. All right? All right?
- 4:07Speaker 3: Cool? So yeah, so we gonna turn right into We're
- 4:09Speaker 3: gonna start with the music. But because you're a renaissance man,
- 4:11Speaker 3: you do a little bit of everything. But we're gonna
- 4:14Speaker 3: talk about the music business first. So all right, how
- 4:16Speaker 3: did you get started in the music business because you're
- 4:19Speaker 3: from DC originally. Yeah, then you come to Atlanta yep.
- 4:23Speaker 2: Nick ninety two. My cousin was like, Yo, you gotta
- 4:26Speaker 2: go to Freaka, Like what the fuck is the freaking
- 4:30Speaker 2: yeah freak niggas like it was the biggest black college
- 4:34Speaker 2: historically black college, like spring break, it happened in Atlanta
- 4:39Speaker 2: and got locked up. My senior year in high school,
- 4:42Speaker 2: was a basketball star and then look hit the table
- 4:45Speaker 2: picky rings, you know, but I basically, you know, I
- 4:51Speaker 2: was in trouble, so I couldn't really leave. He left
- 4:52Speaker 2: to go to Morehouse in that spring. He was like, Yo,
- 4:55Speaker 2: you gotta come down here and check this out. Like
- 4:57Speaker 2: I promise you you've never seen nothing like this. I
- 4:59Speaker 2: was like, my po let's me come cool, got you know,
- 5:01Speaker 2: my paper straight came down and I was just you know,
- 5:04Speaker 2: back then, there was no social media, so it wasn't
- 5:06Speaker 2: like you could see, you know, what was happening on
- 5:09Speaker 2: the way, or that it existed prior in certain posts.
- 5:13Speaker 2: You know, you couldn't see literally go participate to experience it.
- 5:17Speaker 2: And when I experienced them as black people like me
- 5:20Speaker 2: from all over the world, and you're like, wait, I
- 5:22Speaker 2: love this. And at this time, you know, you got
- 5:24Speaker 2: a different world on TV, you got the Cosby Show,
- 5:28Speaker 2: like the whole conscious black excellence was like permeating out
- 5:33Speaker 2: of this world public enemy on all your clothes, like
- 5:35Speaker 2: you were conscious. And so the time I was like,
- 5:37Speaker 2: all right, I need to figure out my situation to
- 5:39Speaker 2: move back. And then that fall we work some things
- 5:42Speaker 2: out and I was blessed to come back. I attended
- 5:45Speaker 2: Morris Brown College. I only went for a semester because
- 5:48Speaker 2: in six months I became the number one party promoter
- 5:51Speaker 2: out this My cousin had set me up like I
- 5:55Speaker 2: was scar face. So when I came, like my cousin
- 5:57Speaker 2: getting out of gyms coming when I got there, honestly.
- 6:02Speaker 2: And then so Shakir Stewart got arrested dead was one
- 6:05Speaker 2: of the first people I met here. He signed g
- 6:08Speaker 2: Z and Rick Ross and was big at death jam
- 6:11Speaker 2: actually might have was about to be president before j
- 6:14Speaker 2: or something like that. Anyway, so he was one of
- 6:15Speaker 2: the first people I met, and we just tore the
- 6:18Speaker 2: au c up. We brought everybody who's anybody in the
- 6:22Speaker 2: iconic atmosphere of hip hop. Now. Jay z I promoted
- 6:27Speaker 2: the Reasonable DOWB album you know, but basically brought them
- 6:30Speaker 2: here first when he had twenty two twos. This was
- 6:32Speaker 2: like pretty reasonable doubt bought the Big Mac promo tour
- 6:37Speaker 2: that puff did you know what I'm saying. People don't
- 6:38Speaker 2: know children children Big Mac, so buff was a marketing guy, right,
- 6:44Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying, Like that, his whole thing
- 6:46Speaker 2: was creative before he was a producer all he was
- 6:47Speaker 2: like a really intuitive guy. And he came up with
- 6:50Speaker 2: this McDonald's idea with this mix tape or tape rather
- 6:54Speaker 2: in a McDonald's box, and it was called Big Mac
- 6:57Speaker 2: for Biggie and Craig Mac. Craig Mac ironically was the superstar. Yeah,
- 7:02Speaker 2: he was a big back then. Yeah, Flavor it was
- 7:04Speaker 2: on fire and everywhere supposed to dude party and bullshit
- 7:07Speaker 2: is okay, I Yeah, that's not Favor. It was different.
- 7:10Speaker 2: So we were the first to do it. We had
- 7:11Speaker 2: the Chronic tour when I was twenty years old. We
- 7:13Speaker 2: paid for the Chronic tour to come to the Omni
- 7:16Speaker 2: which is now State Farm Arena here in Atlanta. He
- 7:18Speaker 2: got locked up so he never could do the show,
- 7:20Speaker 2: so kept but we were on that level like hustle,
- 7:22Speaker 2: like we got here. Oh your niggas ain't doing shit.
- 7:26Speaker 2: Oh the Atlanta motherfuckers, don't fuck with the school motherfuckers.
- 7:28Speaker 2: Oh we're gonna bridge that because we had all the
- 7:30Speaker 2: you know, we used to sell on drugs, so all
- 7:32Speaker 2: the dope boys knew every you know, you knew you
- 7:34Speaker 2: know what I'm saying, So we connected and we were
- 7:36Speaker 2: the first like school dudes to really be accepted and
- 7:39Speaker 2: breaks by the city. Like Shanty Doss called me the
- 7:41Speaker 2: first time she won the stage and my Friday night
- 7:44Speaker 2: was called funk Clinic to bring outcast like so it
- 7:46Speaker 2: was just like a you're in the middle of like
- 7:48Speaker 2: this amazing era of hip hop coming. You're not even hip,
- 7:51Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying, just doing what you do.
- 7:53Speaker 2: But it was fun. Man. Was there a name for
- 7:55Speaker 2: the promotion that you were doing? Yeah, twenty six twenty
- 7:57Speaker 2: twenty six twenty music was our promotion. Come in it
- 8:01Speaker 2: and it was a phenomenon. The first appearance Jay z
- 8:03Speaker 2: Ever had on MTV, he wore twenty six twenty shirt
- 8:07Speaker 2: when Puffin and would come to the city Twenty's twenty
- 8:09Speaker 2: gonna be in the Kenny Burns Like we were like this,
- 8:11Speaker 2: like they used to break in dorms at Clark and
- 8:14Speaker 2: Spellman and Morehouse. Still in our jerseys, like we used
- 8:17Speaker 2: to make hockey jerseys basketball. I mean it was a thing.
- 8:19Speaker 2: So and we would go to every black college and
- 8:21Speaker 2: do it. So it wasn't like, you know, we create tours.
- 8:23Speaker 2: We get tour buses and go and pull up be
- 8:26Speaker 2: staying on top of the tour buses throwing out whatever
- 8:28Speaker 2: promo we were doing. Like we were the real first
- 8:30Speaker 2: street team. Big shout to Steve Rifkin, he incorporated it.
- 8:33Speaker 2: But we were the first real street team. So how
- 8:36Speaker 2: does that lead to to the music industry. I was
- 8:39Speaker 2: in a parking lot of one twelve and the world famous.
- 8:43Speaker 3: One about to say, let's fact, that's a fact.
- 8:46Speaker 2: So I was in a parking lot and uh, it
- 8:48Speaker 2: was either David Gates or Claude Austin Dallas, Austin's brother
- 8:52Speaker 2: rest in peace. He came up to me, He's like, Yo,
- 8:55Speaker 2: we got this artist named Monica and like word, He's like, yeah,
- 8:58Speaker 2: I see y'all everywhere. Man, y'all need to help promote
- 9:00Speaker 2: this joint, and I was like, I bet you know
- 9:02Speaker 2: what I'm saying, not knowing who she is. I mean,
- 9:04Speaker 2: you know, I guess we had a song called Don't
- 9:07Speaker 2: take a Personally had they had tried to put it
- 9:09Speaker 2: out one time it didn't work. So while I had
- 9:12Speaker 2: received a street team business, I was in back in
- 9:14Speaker 2: the one twelve parking lot and I met the guy
- 9:16Speaker 2: who did the Black Expo, and back in the day,
- 9:18Speaker 2: the Black Expo like was the thing to break your artist.
- 9:22Speaker 2: So I got her on the Black XBO. She came back.
- 9:24Speaker 2: She was fourteen years old. Wow, it's so funny, you said.
- 9:26Speaker 2: I just saw like a picture of me and her.
- 9:29Speaker 2: I sent it to you and I need to put
- 9:30Speaker 2: it up on the thing there. It is crazy though,
- 9:35Speaker 2: like crazy story. And then after that I was in
- 9:37Speaker 2: the music business and Claude Austin was, you know, just
- 9:43Speaker 2: like a mentor, and Dave Gates were like they were
- 9:44Speaker 2: like mentors, like come on in, like we you know,
- 9:47Speaker 2: we have a label deal with Rowdy Records through Arista.
- 9:49Speaker 2: So I was doing my thing, but Monica was like
- 9:51Speaker 2: it for them because they had spent so much money
- 9:53Speaker 2: on y'all so stupid, and a couple of other acts
- 9:56Speaker 2: they had illegal with Jamal I remember that. So they
- 10:01Speaker 2: weren't winning, you know what I'm saying. And Monica's you know,
- 10:04Speaker 2: I think she up like two million records, and so
- 10:06Speaker 2: they were just mantling the thing, and I thought I
- 10:08Speaker 2: had struck gold. I'm like, I need five hundred thousand
- 10:11Speaker 2: dollar a year, nigga, what's up? Like we just went God,
- 10:13Speaker 2: It's like that doesn't happen like that. I'm like, all right,
- 10:15Speaker 2: well fuck it. Then I had said fuck Dallas and
- 10:17Speaker 2: the meeting and it got back to Hi Many five
- 10:19Speaker 2: and I'm like, I only make nineteen thousand dollars an
- 10:21Speaker 2: hold this shit. I make way more money doing parties.
- 10:24Speaker 2: But that's how I got in the music business. And
- 10:26Speaker 2: because of the parties, Clark Kent became my mentor, DJ
- 10:30Speaker 2: Clark Big Tony Wrong. I called him Tony Rome. He's
- 10:34Speaker 2: gonna blow me up for saying that. So Tony used
- 10:36Speaker 2: to like basically take me on the road with him.
- 10:39Speaker 2: And so with that, he was going to Motown Records.
- 10:42Speaker 2: Andre Herrel, who's like my father, you know what I'm saying,
- 10:45Speaker 2: like my big brother father figure. He was going to
- 10:49Speaker 2: Motown and he had like this talent search, and it
- 10:53Speaker 2: so happened that the probation ship got weird and the
- 10:55Speaker 2: police came here to a land looking for me. So
- 10:57Speaker 2: I had to go back and get my ship straight
- 10:59Speaker 2: in DC. So I was there, He's like, Yo, Dre's
- 11:02Speaker 2: coming through. Why don't you do a party for him?
- 11:04Speaker 2: You know, he loves that ship. He'll fucking get you
- 11:06Speaker 2: a job, I'm telling you. I was like what he
- 11:08Speaker 2: was like? Yeah? So I was like, what this nigga? Like, Like,
- 11:10Speaker 2: I mean, I clearly grew up on New Jack Swing.
- 11:13Speaker 2: I'm an uptown this after he left uptown it was
- 11:17Speaker 2: going to take the reins over at Motown. So he's like, Yo,
- 11:20Speaker 2: he's fucking cool. I was like, I know the music
- 11:23Speaker 2: I'm talking about. What does he like? Like light skinned women?
- 11:25Speaker 2: And I was like, all right, he pull up light
- 11:29Speaker 2: skinned girl fucking Don harry On and he was like, Yo, nigga,
- 11:33Speaker 2: what the fuck did you?
- 11:34Speaker 4: Nigga?
- 11:36Speaker 2: That was good? And so at the time, Juwan Howard,
- 11:42Speaker 2: Chris Webber, and Rashid Wallas were all playing for the Bullets,
- 11:46Speaker 2: so everybody was dead with the whole thing. The Wizards exactly,
- 11:50Speaker 2: let's show my So yeah, so then he was like, Yo,
- 11:55Speaker 2: can you come to New York on Monday. I was
- 11:57Speaker 2: like yeah, he said, be there by ten o'clock. I
- 11:59Speaker 2: was at eight. We're going to get into like twelve,
- 12:02Speaker 2: So I'm sitting there when he comes. Set the snigger came.
- 12:06Speaker 2: They said get a nigga sixty thousand dollars and put
- 12:08Speaker 2: him in a street team market and I was like word.
- 12:10Speaker 2: I was like, that's that's what y'all doing. Y'all like
- 12:12Speaker 2: just giving r So I went from sixty to one
- 12:15Speaker 2: hundred and twenty to one hundred and eighty and like
- 12:18Speaker 2: eighteen months, you know what I'm saying. But I was
- 12:20Speaker 2: his guy, but he was you know, this is the nineties.
- 12:23Speaker 2: This is the nineties man now, but even then, yeah,
- 12:26Speaker 2: young two and he he's so dope, Like I just
- 12:29Speaker 2: want to give Andre Herral his flowers, you know what
- 12:31Speaker 2: I'm saying. To be honest with you. The Revote Music
- 12:33Speaker 2: Conference was his idea, which is now the Revolt Summit.
- 12:36Speaker 2: So if you guys have not participated in, then please do.
- 12:38Speaker 2: It's very imported. They just had one in Atlanta. I
- 12:41Speaker 2: think by the time this episode comes, LA's will have happened.
- 12:44Speaker 2: But Andre Herral is the godfather of lifestyle. He was
- 12:49Speaker 2: the first person to put the three sixty offering together
- 12:52Speaker 2: because you know a lot of people, man, they have
- 12:55Speaker 2: stylists and they do this, that and the third, and
- 12:57Speaker 2: they gotta pay motherfuckers to do certain things. He was
- 12:59Speaker 2: just a fly mon first dude who had a driver
- 13:02Speaker 2: with the Rose roy the first dude I met with
- 13:03Speaker 2: a whole and you got to imagine Upper West Side
- 13:06Speaker 2: of New York back in the nineties, was like that
- 13:08Speaker 2: wasn't with you know, black folks. But he had a
- 13:10Speaker 2: whole side of an apartment building, top floor of bosk
- 13:13Speaker 2: yachts and put me in my first when I got married.
- 13:16Speaker 2: I'll be married twenty years October sixteenth, two kids, gratulation,
- 13:19Speaker 2: thank you. And he gave my wife and our first
- 13:22Speaker 2: expensive pain. It was like twelve thousand. Back then it's
- 13:25Speaker 2: called burning bed. The shit is. But anyway, he's just
- 13:27Speaker 2: a real superhuman being. And you know, this business is
- 13:31Speaker 2: full of suckers, and it's full of suckers that do
- 13:34Speaker 2: suckers shit, and they will take advantage of the week,
- 13:37Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying. And that's why I got
- 13:39Speaker 2: pride myself. Like when you said a curator earlier or
- 13:42Speaker 2: even pioneer as far as I'm concerned, because there were
- 13:44Speaker 2: no lifestyle specialists and you can go to a million
- 13:46Speaker 2: motherfucker's handles. Now they have lifestyle specialists under their moniker
- 13:50Speaker 2: or they host clubs. I mean, I'm sure you're old
- 13:53Speaker 2: enough you okay, I'm sure your nigga's old enough to
- 13:57Speaker 2: remember when there were no hype niggas on the mic
- 13:59Speaker 2: other than the DJ. I'm telling us Nigga's getting paid
- 14:01Speaker 2: all across the globe for doing that. But I salute
- 14:04Speaker 2: Andre Man. I want to give him his props because
- 14:06Speaker 2: he taught me how to be three sixty with my offering,
- 14:08Speaker 2: and that's why I think you know I'm winning.
- 14:10Speaker 3: So three sixty with your offering because we've heard three
- 14:12Speaker 3: sixties obviously with the record deal. Right, yeah, So I'm
- 14:15Speaker 3: assuming I know what you mean as far as you
- 14:17Speaker 3: do a little bit of everything and you know you
- 14:19Speaker 3: kind of complete decipher. But what exactly does that mean?
- 14:21Speaker 3: It's that's the first time I've heard that and that
- 14:23Speaker 3: other than three sixty record deal.
- 14:24Speaker 2: Well, this is a show me world, now, you know
- 14:26Speaker 2: what I'm saying. In marketing and since the mid two
- 14:29Speaker 2: thousands when the Gray Advertisings and Uni Worlds that owned
- 14:33Speaker 2: all of the visits the boutique started, you know, Spike,
- 14:35Speaker 2: and you had Team Epiphany will call it you like
- 14:37Speaker 2: all these people you know coming with these smaller agencies,
- 14:40Speaker 2: and what people wanted was to connect. They wanted the
- 14:42Speaker 2: one person that was the plug, like all this other
- 14:45Speaker 2: back office shit and all this other extra money they
- 14:47Speaker 2: was paying. They wanted to figure that out. So when
- 14:49Speaker 2: I created that's why I created the name the Lifestyle Specialist,
- 14:52Speaker 2: by the way, And then I decided that fuck this
- 14:54Speaker 2: business in the way that I know it exists. I'm
- 14:57Speaker 2: gonna be the father, husband first. Then I'm gonna be
- 15:00Speaker 2: the entrepreneur, and then I'm gonna be all the other
- 15:03Speaker 2: the fashion guy and all that. But that to me
- 15:05Speaker 2: is three sixty. When you see things that are one sided,
- 15:09Speaker 2: you only really get that from a person. You don't
- 15:11Speaker 2: get the full pitch. And I think I wanted to
- 15:12Speaker 2: lead by example, Like I come from a business that's
- 15:14Speaker 2: unforgiven for relationships. I come from a business that taken
- 15:17Speaker 2: doesn't give you know what I'm saying. So I kind
- 15:19Speaker 2: of wanted to change the narrative. I started immediately I mean,
- 15:22Speaker 2: I've always been a mentor even to my friends. You
- 15:24Speaker 2: know what I'm saying. I was the first to jump
- 15:25Speaker 2: off the porch. I was the first to you know
- 15:27Speaker 2: what I'm saying, get the brick and not the ounce
- 15:29Speaker 2: like I was. You know what I'm saying. So like
- 15:31Speaker 2: I think, for me, I always leave by example. I
- 15:34Speaker 2: just want to give people like a three sixty rendering
- 15:36Speaker 2: right because you can be married and be happy. You can,
- 15:39Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying, Like be flies a motherfucking
- 15:41Speaker 2: not be broke. You can. You know, you can do
- 15:43Speaker 2: things that are you know, one hundred percent real in
- 15:47Speaker 2: a three sixty way. You know what I'm saying. And
- 15:49Speaker 2: I think, like you said, I love the way you
- 15:50Speaker 2: asked that question because the music business three sixty is
- 15:54Speaker 2: even more pimpory, even more, you know what I'm saying, adultery.
- 15:57Speaker 2: If you're you know what I'm saying, they take it.
- 16:00Speaker 2: I mean, but I just taken from you. You know
- 16:01Speaker 2: what I'm saying, It was rightfully yours. But in this
- 16:03Speaker 2: particular scenario, I like to bring everything full circle. So
- 16:06Speaker 2: compute people look at your pitches and they be like, oh,
- 16:09Speaker 2: this light skinned niggas ah, this nigga. All he does
- 16:12Speaker 2: is for oh, this nigga has got the ball head
- 16:14Speaker 2: and think, oh this nigga. But when they you can't
- 16:18Speaker 2: hate on love. If you can't you know what I'm
- 16:20Speaker 2: saying that if my if my offering is love, if
- 16:22Speaker 2: you hate, you're a hater. And you gotta you know,
- 16:24Speaker 2: look at yourself in the mirror. Deal with that.
- 16:26Speaker 5: But you said one of one of the things Andre
- 16:28Speaker 5: Herrel taught you was to take your creative vision to
- 16:31Speaker 5: make it tangible.
- 16:33Speaker 2: This nigga will break it down to the socks. Like
- 16:35Speaker 2: you gotta understand something. Single parent home. My mother raised
- 16:38Speaker 2: me with all my aunts, and here I go to
- 16:41Speaker 2: the street, like I knew what love was, but I
- 16:43Speaker 2: know what encouragement was, right because you know, God bless
- 16:46Speaker 2: our grandparents and our parents. But they they you know,
- 16:49Speaker 2: they come from a very trying period, you know what
- 16:51Speaker 2: I'm saying, And it was really tough for them to
- 16:54Speaker 2: like get through life like let alone succeed. Right, But
- 16:58Speaker 2: like you know, when you meet, you go to this
- 16:59Speaker 2: stream you figure out, Okay, I'm not I'm no killer.
- 17:03Speaker 2: I'm not trying to put my hands on nobody. And
- 17:05Speaker 2: that's forced. Like so the streets wasn't for me. You
- 17:08Speaker 2: have to be a certain caliber of person. Now, luckily
- 17:10Speaker 2: I had a lot of game and I could figure
- 17:12Speaker 2: things out. And then I was scrapped too. But at
- 17:14Speaker 2: the same time, meeting Dre, it's like, Nigga, all that
- 17:17Speaker 2: shit is cool. Put that energy in this. You got
- 17:20Speaker 2: to you got the women, You dress good, like you
- 17:22Speaker 2: know what I'm saying, You walk around, you smell like
- 17:25Speaker 2: you can't be and you don't think about that, like
- 17:27Speaker 2: if you know what I'm saying, if you don't, if
- 17:30Speaker 2: you don't have a father figure in your house pointing
- 17:32Speaker 2: you in the right direction, Like I didn't know my
- 17:34Speaker 2: superpowers until I met Andre, that's that's power. So you
- 17:39Speaker 2: started lifestyle specialists? Yeah, I created that, and if anybody
- 17:42Speaker 2: say it's different, I'm gonna fuck you. But it's fast.
- 17:46Speaker 2: I mean, you know, I don't know how you prove that.
- 17:48Speaker 2: I don't own the mark. But so now you're gonna
- 17:51Speaker 2: ask most people.
- 17:52Speaker 3: It's yeah, cause like you said, I mean that that
- 17:54Speaker 3: term kind of gets turned thrown around.
- 17:56Speaker 2: A lot these days.
- 17:57Speaker 3: So a lifestyle specialist, I'm actually curious to know your definition,
- 18:01Speaker 3: Like what does that means?
- 18:02Speaker 2: Got smart radio? These answers lifestyle specialist. I was like,
- 18:07Speaker 2: I said this. The marketing boutique agency boomed around two
- 18:11Speaker 2: thousand and five, and I would do a lot of
- 18:13Speaker 2: consulting and I would go on these meetings, like you know,
- 18:15Speaker 2: we would go to Heineken and pitch the Heineken Red
- 18:17Speaker 2: Star Soul Tour, and which I created with Alloy Marketing.
- 18:22Speaker 2: It was really my idea because it was a CD
- 18:24Speaker 2: that had Eric abad Due, Glenn Lewis, like Chico de
- 18:26Speaker 2: Barge all these people back in the day. I was like, Yo,
- 18:28Speaker 2: why don't y'all take this and do a tour and
- 18:30Speaker 2: you can introduce artists and all that, you know what
- 18:32Speaker 2: I'm saying. So by the time you know, I got
- 18:37Speaker 2: to like my third pitch with them, I think we
- 18:39Speaker 2: were at like Axe Body Spread or something. I was like, yo, like,
- 18:43Speaker 2: I'm tired of y'all referring to me as like this
- 18:45Speaker 2: lifestyle guy. Like I have a skill set, you know
- 18:48Speaker 2: what I'm saying, Like, and obviously I'm helping you with
- 18:50Speaker 2: these ideas, but you're not telling the client that. So
- 18:53Speaker 2: I was like, you know, if you're gonna refer to me,
- 18:55Speaker 2: refer to me as a lifestyle specialist. I'm not really
- 18:58Speaker 2: with the other you know things calling me. And that's
- 19:00Speaker 2: how I came up with I think if you're going
- 19:02Speaker 2: to be a lifestyle specialist, you have to be tenured
- 19:05Speaker 2: in multiple things that deal in pop culture. I was
- 19:08Speaker 2: the second black designer ever in sac at the avenue
- 19:10Speaker 2: of Ryan Kenny when we did the Whole. When jay
- 19:11Speaker 2: Z did change clothes, he wore our shirts. I signed
- 19:15Speaker 2: you know numbers a number of artists and worked on
- 19:17Speaker 2: a number of projects from Dream to Akon to LA. Like,
- 19:21Speaker 2: so I've done a lot in different territories or you know,
- 19:27Speaker 2: different things in culture to get that you sign that
- 19:31Speaker 2: you signed through your own regular Lis years. Funny story
- 19:35Speaker 2: about w A and big shot project coming out of
- 19:38Speaker 2: October eleventh. But when I found Wila, my sister who
- 19:43Speaker 2: owns Baller Alert, was like, Yo, you gotta hear this dude.
- 19:48Speaker 2: He's a phenomenal rapper. And I'm like, all right, cool,
- 19:50Speaker 2: because I want to sign U C B. Saxe late,
- 19:53Speaker 2: I want to sing, I want to sign him the
- 19:54Speaker 2: Rockefeller but damon and wouldn't hear me. But so when
- 19:57Speaker 2: I got to LA, I heard him rap. He was
- 20:00Speaker 2: like a rappers, rapper, you know what I'm saying, like
- 20:01Speaker 2: Backpack Rapper. He had like forty seven bars, like you
- 20:04Speaker 2: know what I'm saying, Like yeah so and I'm like,
- 20:07Speaker 2: all right, cool, you know what I'm saying. But it
- 20:08Speaker 2: was a dude by the name of Southeast Slim who
- 20:11Speaker 2: did this go Go fusion shit. And that was what
- 20:13Speaker 2: I wanted whole time, Like I was asking, like, where's
- 20:16Speaker 2: the go Go influence.
- 20:17Speaker 5: Shit, that's that's to your region, Yes, dah DC, So
- 20:21Speaker 5: Southeast Slim mix out of Southeast I don't even know
- 20:23Speaker 5: where it is today.
- 20:24Speaker 2: But he had this record called Dig The Dig The
- 20:28Speaker 2: Off the Muscles Northeast Grooves, and when I tell you,
- 20:32Speaker 2: he had like one hundred bars or verse. But I
- 20:34Speaker 2: was like, no, chop this up, dude. And when I
- 20:36Speaker 2: tell he was getting twenty five hundred dollars a week
- 20:38Speaker 2: three weeks later until he like literally busted a move.
- 20:42Speaker 2: But the story is we released Hat Is the New
- 20:48Speaker 2: Love Mixtape and Paint a Picture mixtapes, and they were
- 20:52Speaker 2: so on fire, like he was getting booked and we
- 20:54Speaker 2: were getting sought after. And so I knew the game
- 20:56Speaker 2: and I wanted to be independent. I didn't really want
- 20:58Speaker 2: to go inside and I went to La and I'll
- 21:02Speaker 2: never forget this dude was on me on my Space,
- 21:05Speaker 2: this white boy. I'm not gonna say his name because
- 21:08Speaker 2: I smacked the shit out of you know you are.
- 21:10Speaker 2: But it was so crazy because I was like, the
- 21:15Speaker 2: social media shit about to blow. I didn't know what
- 21:18Speaker 2: and how, but I just felt like my space was
- 21:20Speaker 2: such a community and it was only gonna get Pacetbook
- 21:22Speaker 2: was the obviously coming around, and I'm like, okay, bo
- 21:24Speaker 2: when we got to meet this dude, he's hitting me
- 21:26Speaker 2: and what he's saying makes a lot of sense in
- 21:29Speaker 2: that space. So I go to mister Child and my
- 21:32Speaker 2: test for the boy. The boy was basically like, if
- 21:36Speaker 2: he tries to pay for dinner, I'm gonna hire him
- 21:39Speaker 2: to be wil AT's social media guy. So dinner comes
- 21:44Speaker 2: to me and while they looking at each other because
- 21:45Speaker 2: he knows the test and he doesn't want to pay
- 21:48Speaker 2: for dinner at us right, so I pull out I'm
- 21:50Speaker 2: about to pay. So he ended up paying. That was like, okay, cool,
- 21:51Speaker 2: We're gonna fuck with this mouth showing enough. Two weeks later,
- 21:56Speaker 2: maybe three weeks later, I can't find La. I could
- 21:59Speaker 2: not and his mama calling me. Everybody like what yo,
- 22:03Speaker 2: I'm like, I don't know. He ain't called me now,
- 22:05Speaker 2: mind you. Rob Stone at the Fader obviously one of
- 22:08Speaker 2: my good friends. I had told him about Wile and
- 22:11Speaker 2: I was trying to get Wile a cover or an
- 22:13Speaker 2: article something. Then I'm reaching out to all my contacts.
- 22:16Speaker 2: Just so happened that Rob Stone called me like, yo, like,
- 22:21Speaker 2: your man just did the photo shoot? He killed it.
- 22:24Speaker 2: I'm like, had did the photo shoot? So come to
- 22:26Speaker 2: find out, the boy had went around you know what
- 22:30Speaker 2: I'm saying, and while A was rolling with him, So
- 22:32Speaker 2: the boy took him to Mark ronson Mark Signer. But
- 22:34Speaker 2: I had paperwork on right, So I'm like, okay, cool,
- 22:38Speaker 2: So I let it bang into the album's about attention
- 22:39Speaker 2: deference was all to come. I was like, oh, no,
- 22:42Speaker 2: I need a million. I didn't get a million, but
- 22:45Speaker 2: they paid me and then yeah, we got credit for
- 22:47Speaker 2: the first album. But me and while A straight, I mean,
- 22:49Speaker 2: he you know, I really can't hold people to their
- 22:53Speaker 2: actions when they're not fully in their right minds or
- 22:56Speaker 2: even know you know what I'm saying. Because he knew
- 22:58Speaker 2: the gangster ship and all the shit that could have
- 23:00Speaker 2: happened to him, but it was it was more about,
- 23:02Speaker 2: you know what, I'm gonna get mine if it ever
- 23:04Speaker 2: comes out, and show enough when it came. You know,
- 23:06Speaker 2: we got straight.
- 23:07Speaker 5: So you gotta you met obviously the Rockefeller crew during
- 23:10Speaker 5: the Reasonable era, right, and there's a story that you
- 23:14Speaker 5: brought the paid in full script today.
- 23:16Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, So I was. I was working with Dallas
- 23:20Speaker 2: Austin and Kevin Zinger. Kevin Zinger owned uh what was
- 23:24Speaker 2: the Volcano records, I think back then, and Dallas was
- 23:27Speaker 2: doing Free World and this dude named Ship from Harlem
- 23:31Speaker 2: came to the office and he had the pay in
- 23:33Speaker 2: full script and he was basically brought easy you know,
- 23:36Speaker 2: the character real, the real.
- 23:40Speaker 3: I can't say the real, but that's too.
- 23:46Speaker 2: There's too one of the greatest seasons. You know, he's incredible.
- 23:50Speaker 2: But he did get his name from So they came
- 23:53Speaker 2: to the office, you know what I'm saying, and I'm like, yo,
- 23:57Speaker 2: Kevin ain't gonna get this. You know what I'm saying,
- 23:58Speaker 2: Dallas really ain't gonna ge is some street ship. Yeah,
- 24:01Speaker 2: took him down to John Street, met Dame at Biggs,
- 24:06Speaker 2: met Jay and then they was like, we want to
- 24:07Speaker 2: do the story. And so all I asked Damon for
- 24:10Speaker 2: was a fucking role in the movie. Next time I
- 24:14Speaker 2: see this, nigga, the movie's been. He's talking about you
- 24:17Speaker 2: want to come to the premiere? No bullshit, you can
- 24:20Speaker 2: buy two tickets? No, like, no, come with me now,
- 24:22Speaker 2: I'm going to wait to the premiere Nigga on like
- 24:24Speaker 2: forty seven. So that's but you know, that's what that's
- 24:28Speaker 2: what family does. But no, it was, it was. It
- 24:31Speaker 2: was awesome because I mean after that, I mean, he
- 24:32Speaker 2: offered me a great position to help him change the
- 24:36Speaker 2: direction for a Rockefeller because they wanted to do more
- 24:39Speaker 2: than just wrap. So I came. You know, obviously, when
- 24:42Speaker 2: Cam and them had just sold the main records, Kanye
- 24:44Speaker 2: was up to bat. We were working on a bunch
- 24:46Speaker 2: of shit black albums being worked on. So it was
- 24:48Speaker 2: just like a good time at Rockefeller, and I think
- 24:50Speaker 2: actually one of the best times because State Property was
- 24:53Speaker 2: on full till they've set you had, you know, yay
- 24:57Speaker 2: and then obviously Powers. Yeah, it was incredible, man. But
- 25:01Speaker 2: that's when also the demise started. Man, that's when I
- 25:03Speaker 2: left the music minis alone because I saw how the
- 25:06Speaker 2: office was splitting up. You had Brooklyn in Harlem. You
- 25:08Speaker 2: know what I'm saying. You know, the dip set was
- 25:11Speaker 2: trying to whoop everybody. I got a wild story about that.
- 25:14Speaker 2: What's that? What's that?
- 25:15Speaker 5: No?
- 25:15Speaker 2: Because I remember Lenny had got into it with him
- 25:17Speaker 2: Linny as big shot at my brother. And then that
- 25:21Speaker 2: same week I came and I went into Dame's office
- 25:23Speaker 2: and I'm like, yo, y'all seen Dame and uh it
- 25:25Speaker 2: was Cam, Big Joe, Uh, Capo was in there, a
- 25:31Speaker 2: couple other you know, the dip set. Because I had
- 25:32Speaker 2: everybody's respect. But whatever Cam was on, Killer was on
- 25:35Speaker 2: some ship that was funk. I looked like, I'm like, nigga,
- 25:38Speaker 2: you're sitting in this ship. I thought you might know
- 25:40Speaker 2: what the fuck was Jesus Christ. No, Nigga. I was like, nigga,
- 25:44Speaker 2: all that ship, I'm down the hall. My office is
- 25:46Speaker 2: the one with the green walls. I had the only
- 25:48Speaker 2: office with plants and green ships. So I walked down
- 25:51Speaker 2: all her New York niggas, all you New York niggas
- 25:55Speaker 2: sound like that when you get me. I don't know
- 25:56Speaker 2: if you were like, ah, no, no, I'm not starre,
- 26:00Speaker 2: but no I'm not something I'm joking but no, So
- 26:02Speaker 2: I just heard some fussing and then Jim Jones came
- 26:05Speaker 2: down to y and Killer was just bugging a mess off.
- 26:07Speaker 2: But we ain't seen Dame that. I was like, this
- 26:09Speaker 2: shit is crazy, like and clearly in the back of
- 26:11Speaker 2: my mind because they referred to my whole crew as
- 26:13Speaker 2: a dress shirt mafia, because I just yeah, we had
- 26:16Speaker 2: a roll and say properly too that they took out,
- 26:19Speaker 2: But yeah, we had a whole thing like Dame. He
- 26:22Speaker 2: had the spot called infamous spot called the Black Door,
- 26:24Speaker 2: and Tribeca he built the whole closet. Nigga, we ain't
- 26:27Speaker 2: never gonna wear that shit. He built the whole close.
- 26:28Speaker 2: All he had was Ralph Laern button ups. Jay Z
- 26:31Speaker 2: made change clothes, but that change closes is different.
- 26:34Speaker 5: And I remember that that was a cultural change in
- 26:37Speaker 5: how we dressed going to that was it.
- 26:39Speaker 2: Bro was like, all right, cool, we got that.
- 26:41Speaker 4: Did that dip set thing really break up Rockefeller?
- 26:44Speaker 2: No, no, no, no no. I was telling you that
- 26:45Speaker 2: story because it was a wild story. What broke up
- 26:48Speaker 2: Rockefeller And I think a lot of people are starting
- 26:50Speaker 2: to see publicly was Dame, you know. I mean, at
- 26:53Speaker 2: the end of the day, man, Dame was the one
- 26:55Speaker 2: fighting and fussing to get them in the door. And
- 26:57Speaker 2: he gets all respect for that because, as we all
- 26:59Speaker 2: know have heard throughout history, the Rockefeller history, that Jay
- 27:03Speaker 2: didn't have a deal, nobody wanted to sign them, and
- 27:05Speaker 2: they put their money with their mouth, you know where
- 27:06Speaker 2: their mouth was. They got a deal Priest Freeze Priority,
- 27:12Speaker 2: you know, they sold all in records, They got a
- 27:14Speaker 2: major deal with death Jam and the rest is literally history.
- 27:16Speaker 2: But you know, I think money, you know, brought out
- 27:18Speaker 2: those sides of Damon Man that really you know, and
- 27:20Speaker 2: I like the honor conversation. I like the independent conversation.
- 27:26Speaker 2: I like a lot of the things that Damon stood on.
- 27:28Speaker 2: I just think after time, it's just like, bro, going
- 27:30Speaker 2: too far. You're going too far. These are your brothers,
- 27:32Speaker 2: so first and all, if they're your brothers, I don't
- 27:34Speaker 2: give fuck if my brother got a mental illness and
- 27:36Speaker 2: he killing motherfuckers, Like I'm literally not, like you know
- 27:39Speaker 2: what I'm saying, giving up, Like in some way somehow
- 27:42Speaker 2: we got and of course, I mean, you know Dame
- 27:45Speaker 2: and Jay, I mean Jay was big, you know, Boogie's godfather.
- 27:49Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying. It was just too much
- 27:50Speaker 2: personal and you made a shitload of money. Yeah, and
- 27:55Speaker 2: so how can you not you know, reveling that. But
- 27:58Speaker 2: I just saw the writing on the walls and to
- 27:59Speaker 2: beyond that's with you. I quit the music business after
- 28:01Speaker 2: Rockefeller because I'm like, I could never in my life
- 28:05Speaker 2: have seen that happen. And to be honest, if it
- 28:08Speaker 2: wasn't for Bigs, like you know, a lot of shit
- 28:10Speaker 2: would have fell apart a lot earlier than that because
- 28:13Speaker 2: people don't know like Hopper, random label, like I'm talking
- 28:16Speaker 2: about you know what I'm saying from the dip set
- 28:19Speaker 2: on like you know what I'm saying, all that shit.
- 28:21Speaker 2: I mean, Dane was there, but Dane was rocker where
- 28:23Speaker 2: he was a new American magazine I'm sorry, American magazine.
- 28:28Speaker 2: Like yeah, it was just a lot of shit he
- 28:29Speaker 2: was trying to do, but Bigs held it down. And
- 28:31Speaker 2: like I just said, that was the biggest time at
- 28:33Speaker 2: Rockefeller ever and Biggs doesn't get that credit. A big
- 28:36Speaker 2: shot to Hop and he was. To be honest with you,
- 28:39Speaker 2: I feel like Jay, you know what I'm saying, in
- 28:41Speaker 2: his crew, he's still with his crew. He made his
- 28:44Speaker 2: friends rich, you know what I'm saying. Obviously, they contribute
- 28:46Speaker 2: so far and song, but Jay went through his period
- 28:47Speaker 2: of acting funny. You know what I'm saying, It's just facts.
- 28:50Speaker 2: I mean, you get to a certain point you don't
- 28:51Speaker 2: know who in what, so you you're blocking yourself off
- 28:54Speaker 2: to things. And I don't think I've ever felt that
- 28:58Speaker 2: way about Big. He was the only consistent one all
- 29:01Speaker 2: the way through that whole. I mean, let's get it,
- 29:04Speaker 2: one thousand percents. I respect him, I love him. It
- 29:06Speaker 2: is an honor to watch him growing and even more
- 29:09Speaker 2: of an honor to have been a part of what
- 29:10Speaker 2: they did. But you know that Nigga Bigs like he
- 29:14Speaker 2: stayed solid and didn't I've never known another side of Bigs.
- 29:19Speaker 2: We ran into him, We ran into him out the Big.
- 29:22Speaker 4: You gotta get on the podcast soon, y'all get him on.
- 29:24Speaker 2: I mean we want to give like you gotta understand too,
- 29:27Speaker 2: Biggs and talk a lot. Biggs one of the guy
- 29:29Speaker 2: that's out here like sharing it. But now he's ready,
- 29:31Speaker 2: Like you know what I'm saying, he got a lot
- 29:32Speaker 2: to offer, bro.
- 29:34Speaker 3: So all right, so now we're gonna go into the
- 29:36Speaker 3: next segment. We're gonna talk about the night life because
- 29:38Speaker 3: we haven't tough with that and that's a that's an
- 29:40Speaker 3: exciting topic.
- 29:41Speaker 2: All right.
- 29:41Speaker 4: So now we're gonna talk about the night Lightning.
- 29:43Speaker 3: But before that, so you you you said you launched right,
- 29:47Speaker 3: y'all to Derek Ferguson. We had him for her good
- 29:51Speaker 3: good friend and good friend of the podcast great man.
- 29:54Speaker 2: Yeah, I love him. He held me down my entire
- 29:57Speaker 2: time with Puff tromultuous.
- 30:00Speaker 3: Say what was what I would love to what was
- 30:06Speaker 3: the process in launching a TV network because that's not
- 30:09Speaker 3: like an everyday thing.
- 30:10Speaker 2: That's a whole different type of vibe. Like yeah, So,
- 30:13Speaker 2: I mean, Puff is a is a very intuitive person
- 30:16Speaker 2: as far as culture is concerned, and he realizes opportunities.
- 30:19Speaker 2: And at the time, he wanted to basically launch a
- 30:23Speaker 2: network that was heavy into the mobile side of things too,
- 30:26Speaker 2: because a lot of AT and T comcasts and all
- 30:29Speaker 2: the other carriers do is that they have you know,
- 30:31Speaker 2: all this phone stuff is you know, next level. So
- 30:34Speaker 2: he wanted to be ahead of the curve and that
- 30:36Speaker 2: was the initial goal for a revote, And in twenty thirteen,
- 30:41Speaker 2: you know, he reached out like, look like I'm doing X,
- 30:43Speaker 2: Y and Z. So at first it was more consultancy
- 30:46Speaker 2: I'm going back and forth and he's like, no, I
- 30:47Speaker 2: need you in LA. So I moved the family out
- 30:50Speaker 2: and we got to rocking. You know. The unfortunate thing
- 30:53Speaker 2: is is that well, the unfortunate thing. Unfortunately. The unfortunate
- 30:57Speaker 2: thing was that his vision was a little early. You
- 31:00Speaker 2: know what I'm saying, to do segments in small pieces
- 31:03Speaker 2: of content on the linear platform on YouTube type of yeah, yeah, like,
- 31:07Speaker 2: and I mean I think it worked to a certain point,
- 31:10Speaker 2: but then you know, there's certain things and I won't
- 31:12Speaker 2: give the answers now because I'm gonna do it, but
- 31:15Speaker 2: it's like, you know, I'm gonna give you models, right,
- 31:17Speaker 2: So like Bounce TV. Big shout to my brother Ryan Glover.
- 31:20Speaker 2: He just sold for a bag. And their whole model was,
- 31:23Speaker 2: you know, licensed program they did like Bounce TV, they
- 31:27Speaker 2: did license program and they did programming that just made
- 31:30Speaker 2: sense because it wasn't available anywhere else. I mean you
- 31:32Speaker 2: could see bits and pieces on BT and other like
- 31:35Speaker 2: forms of television like that, maybe VH one, but they
- 31:38Speaker 2: went hard like every day, Oh my god, I'm gonna
- 31:42Speaker 2: so if you ever had a nostalgic moment or needed
- 31:44Speaker 2: a nostalgic fixture with them, and so you know, I
- 31:48Speaker 2: just think that, like I said, you know, and it's
- 31:51Speaker 2: not done that I'm you know, gone forever from Revolt
- 31:54Speaker 2: because I want to I like to finish things I
- 31:56Speaker 2: start now. If he move it, if he moves Revolt
- 31:58Speaker 2: to Atlanta and I and Andre Hirella's CEO and I'm president,
- 32:03Speaker 2: I'm there, you know what I'm saying, and I'll bring
- 32:04Speaker 2: this new idea change the game. But we got so yeah,
- 32:07Speaker 2: but it was, it was, it was a blessing. Yep, yep.
- 32:10Speaker 5: The relationship with Puff started in that big Mac campaign
- 32:12Speaker 5: and throughout the years it's just been you said, tumultuous.
- 32:14Speaker 2: But like I met Puff when I was sixteen of Washington,
- 32:17Speaker 2: d C. It was a club called Opera and I
- 32:19Speaker 2: saw him staying ah here of pel pl one half black,
- 32:22Speaker 2: one half white. He looked like the Jojash video. And
- 32:24Speaker 2: I had seen him because you know, I was in
- 32:26Speaker 2: the street, so I had seen him, so he saw me.
- 32:29Speaker 2: We had a bunch of girls at the time. He
- 32:30Speaker 2: was a hot one. I was high school. So we
- 32:33Speaker 2: just had a mutual like I see this guy, Okay,
- 32:35Speaker 2: I know this guy, and like you know, back then,
- 32:36Speaker 2: you don't approach nobody and talk about nothing. You'd be like,
- 32:39Speaker 2: what's something to you say? You know what I'm saying.
- 32:40Speaker 2: So something in common comes along. Because the circle is
- 32:43Speaker 2: so small on the streets, you had to. So one
- 32:45Speaker 2: day it happened and we spoke, and we've been cool
- 32:47Speaker 2: and freak. Nick ninety four when we did the big
- 32:50Speaker 2: Mac thing, you know, that's when I became a legend.
- 32:53Speaker 2: That's that's when my legend started. Because Mark Pitts used
- 32:56Speaker 2: called Gucci don so. Gucci was getting into a fight.
- 33:01Speaker 2: They had this why why shaped staircase in this in
- 33:04Speaker 2: the funk clinic, the warehouse. I used to do my
- 33:05Speaker 2: parties and I saw I was ron G was DJing.
- 33:08Speaker 2: So I'm in the booth, I'm on the mic talking
- 33:09Speaker 2: my ship, and I see Gouch, you know this type
- 33:11Speaker 2: ship so puffing, woofing all them down. I'm like, oh ship,
- 33:14Speaker 2: if they see that, it's over and it's freaking it.
- 33:17Speaker 2: So I was, you know, thousand people inside, thousand people outside.
- 33:20Speaker 2: So I run off the mic. I get Gouch like
- 33:23Speaker 2: you straight man, fuck this? You know, So you know
- 33:25Speaker 2: Gucci's you know, he quiet, but then go hard. So
- 33:28Speaker 2: I'm like, yo, just chill, it's freaking I got you
- 33:30Speaker 2: can get the fuck out and paid the bounce on here,
- 33:32Speaker 2: you know, like yo, chill. So I'm thinking we're good,
- 33:35Speaker 2: but somebody had ran down to tell puff. So as
- 33:39Speaker 2: we come down to wire shape, you know, we get
- 33:41Speaker 2: to the land and then we're like midway before we
- 33:43Speaker 2: hit the thing, and yo, yo, what the fuck in
- 33:46Speaker 2: New York ship? And I'm like, yo, like we're good,
- 33:51Speaker 2: like relaxed, like we're good. Like it's oh, Gucci straight,
- 33:54Speaker 2: I'm straight now, fuck that nigga. We from New York nigga,
- 33:57Speaker 2: nigga Haller nigga, not white planes. I'm just but my
- 34:03Speaker 2: point is, the point is I'm like, I'm telling him
- 34:05Speaker 2: like it's over. And so back in those days, it
- 34:08Speaker 2: was the wild wild West, you know what I'm saying,
- 34:10Speaker 2: Like you could buy a gun at k Mark down
- 34:13Speaker 2: here with no license. Like this ship was crazy. So
- 34:15Speaker 2: everybody's strapped and then all of a sudden, he you know,
- 34:18Speaker 2: the tsunami starts and so I'm like, yo, I'm trying
- 34:21Speaker 2: to get niggas hit. So they rushed the door. And
- 34:23Speaker 2: when they rushed the door, I had just bought up.
- 34:26Speaker 2: I'll never forget this truck and This is gonna make
- 34:28Speaker 2: me mad, this shit, think about it. I had just
- 34:30Speaker 2: bought a Ford Explorer, had the new grill and Mickey
- 34:33Speaker 2: Thompson's and my cousin left it parked in front of
- 34:36Speaker 2: the door. So in front of the door is the barricade.
- 34:39Speaker 2: So when they rushed, the ship hits, my lights breaks,
- 34:42Speaker 2: all my ship, my fucking bumpers hanging down, so I
- 34:44Speaker 2: don't see it yet. So I'm coming outside because you know,
- 34:47Speaker 2: all the drama had left it, and so people still
- 34:49Speaker 2: part You know. The one thing about back in the day,
- 34:51Speaker 2: you can have all types of chaos, but if you
- 34:55Speaker 2: got it out the club, the party would remain. So
- 34:57Speaker 2: we got it outside, so party still going on without
- 34:59Speaker 2: my I was like, Yo, what the fuck is oh
- 35:01Speaker 2: my fucking truck. So, long story short, I'm like getting pages,
- 35:06Speaker 2: you know, because this is like beepers, This is not
- 35:08Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying, So you got to get
- 35:09Speaker 2: the I think it's freaking ninety four. Yeah, okay, we
- 35:15Speaker 2: had ron g that weekend kick a pretty bit like
- 35:17Speaker 2: all him early. So long story short, I'm getting all
- 35:19Speaker 2: these pages, nine on one, so I need my money
- 35:22Speaker 2: for my truck. I was, you know, first of all,
- 35:24Speaker 2: Puff was my idol at this point. He was what
- 35:26Speaker 2: he did in DC. I moved to Atlanta to do
- 35:29Speaker 2: and it broke my fucking face that he would fight
- 35:31Speaker 2: in my party. Knowing you come from that cloth, you
- 35:34Speaker 2: know how important this is. You see all these people
- 35:36Speaker 2: in line, you're gonna do that to me. I had
- 35:39Speaker 2: gave them like more. White Star was like seventy five dollars.
- 35:42Speaker 2: I gave him for thirty five. I was just trying
- 35:44Speaker 2: to make White Star. So long story, short story goes,
- 35:56Speaker 2: after he left town without paying my money, I went
- 35:58Speaker 2: to New York and I went to Queens. It was
- 36:01Speaker 2: some not Queens, I'm sorry, the Queen's Bridge on the
- 36:03Speaker 2: Manhattan side. It was a club that was underneath the joint.
- 36:07Speaker 2: And so Clark Kent, big bro and one of my
- 36:10Speaker 2: best friends, big hustler from Detroit who funded most of
- 36:14Speaker 2: the twenty six twenty ship back in the day. He
- 36:16Speaker 2: with me. So I'm feeling like, you know what, I
- 36:18Speaker 2: don't give all them niggas know me. If they you
- 36:20Speaker 2: know what I'm saying, then everybody knows something. So I
- 36:23Speaker 2: go to the club. I'm like, yo, something my money.
- 36:27Speaker 2: So Puff looks at me literally right, he like looks,
- 36:31Speaker 2: he looks at me like nigga. I was like, he said,
- 36:34Speaker 2: he said, he said, I said, what's up with my money?
- 36:37Speaker 2: He said, I got so much money? He put like
- 36:40Speaker 2: ten thousand. I got so much money. I have you
- 36:43Speaker 2: missing nigga over, I'm like, okay. I hit the money
- 36:51Speaker 2: out of his hand and looked like the scene. So
- 36:54Speaker 2: I'm motherfucking dunking And to be honest with you, to
- 36:57Speaker 2: be honest with you, motherfuckers, wasn't trying to hit me
- 36:59Speaker 2: like that because if they wanted to hit me, it
- 37:01Speaker 2: was they could have gotten. I mean when I said,
- 37:03Speaker 2: I was in New York and I had three people
- 37:05Speaker 2: with me, and Clark was an innocent by standing the
- 37:07Speaker 2: ship because he was fuf DJ too, So he's more
- 37:09Speaker 2: like this. I'm like, Nigga, everybody's gonna die, right, So yeah,
- 37:14Speaker 2: make it out of that joint. I see him the
- 37:15Speaker 2: next day in front of the uh is that the
- 37:17Speaker 2: Hilton on seventh. It was the last year the New
- 37:20Speaker 2: Music seminar, and he had a picket sign in one
- 37:23Speaker 2: hand and my nephew on the other hand, justin and
- 37:26Speaker 2: he's like, yo, black God, Black God, Sun Moon Stars
- 37:31Speaker 2: nigga were black nigga, we can't be doing it. You know,
- 37:34Speaker 2: if we are here killing each other. This ship is crazy, Nigga.
- 37:36Speaker 2: We can never do no ship like that if we
- 37:37Speaker 2: want to get to the real money. The white man
- 37:41Speaker 2: nigga he had me Jedi mind, was like, damn, I
- 37:46Speaker 2: ain't need that money. About the money, Jedi mind, trick,
- 37:50Speaker 2: I said, this nigga is good. But after that we
- 37:54Speaker 2: was solid. We had cost each other some money, but
- 37:57Speaker 2: the respect is then that's all I wanted, you know,
- 37:59Speaker 2: like niggas had to fight.
- 38:01Speaker 5: So I wasn't going out like that those legendary parties,
- 38:04Speaker 5: Like what type of money are we pulling in for
- 38:06Speaker 5: a night like that in college?
- 38:09Speaker 2: In college? In college about thousand a week for how
- 38:13Speaker 2: many parties? Just one one party? And we was charging
- 38:16Speaker 2: five and ten dollars. So to think that that's crazy
- 38:20Speaker 2: because the first to do like bar guarantees and shit,
- 38:23Speaker 2: we was putting tables together. There was no sections back
- 38:26Speaker 2: in the day. We were putting high tops together and
- 38:29Speaker 2: putting the buckets of champagne and kind of like standing
- 38:32Speaker 2: room like okay, because it was only a dance floor
- 38:35Speaker 2: literally it was. And then you had high tops in
- 38:38Speaker 2: certain clubs one twelve earners. What's Up?

- 40:16Speaker 5: and C Bank Brilliantly Boring since eighteen sixty five. Brilliantly

- 40:31Speaker 6: An illegal alien from Guatemala charged with raping a child
- 40:35Speaker 6: in Massachusetts. An MS thirteen gang member from Al Salvador
- 40:39Speaker 6: accused of murdering a Texas. Man of Venezuelan charged with
- 40:43Speaker 6: filming and selling child pornography in Michigan. These are just
- 40:47Speaker 6: some of the heinous migrant criminals caught because of President
- 40:51Speaker 6: Donald J. Trump's leadership. I'm Christy nom, the United States
- 40:54Speaker 6: Secretary of Homeland Security. Under President Trump, attempted illegal border
- 40:59Speaker 6: crossings are at the lowest levels. Ever recorded, and over
- 41:03Speaker 6: one hundred thousand illegal aliens have been arrested. If you
- 41:06Speaker 6: were here illegally, your next you will be fine nearly
- 41:10Speaker 6: one thousand dollars a day. Imprisoned and deported, you will
- 41:14Speaker 6: never return. But if you register using our CBP home
- 41:18Speaker 6: app and leave now, you could be allowed to return legally.
- 41:21Speaker 6: Do what's right. Leave now. Under President Trump America's laws,
- 41:26Speaker 6: border and families will be protected.
- 41:29Speaker 2: Sponsored by the United States Department of Homeland Security. Now. Actually,
- 41:32Speaker 2: Atlanta Alive, I think was the first bank Ka style
- 41:37Speaker 2: you know what. One twelve had some some sections too,
- 41:40Speaker 2: but they were like small one like what id you
- 41:42Speaker 2: know what I'm saying? What we did at the world
- 41:43Speaker 2: famous compound.
- 41:44Speaker 3: So it's crazy because all right, talking about compound and
- 41:47Speaker 3: where we're at now because I'm in my May thirty.
- 41:49Speaker 3: So but I was clubbing like when I was sixteenth.
- 41:51Speaker 3: My brother used to promote parties, right, so, and I
- 41:53Speaker 3: always look kind of older than what I was, So
- 41:55Speaker 3: I used to go to clubs in like a very
- 41:56Speaker 3: young age. So long story short.
- 41:57Speaker 2: I saw the.
- 41:58Speaker 3: Evolution of parties where it was like actually a real
- 42:00Speaker 3: party where people dance to it becoming like even we
- 42:04Speaker 3: to go to Miami like and then it was like
- 42:06Speaker 3: we see like one bottle service table. Then it was two,
- 42:09Speaker 3: and it was three, and then before the whole club
- 42:11Speaker 3: was bottle the perimeter was just the bar, right. But
- 42:15Speaker 3: the crazy thing to me looking at it from a
- 42:16Speaker 3: business standpoint, is like the bottle service to marketup is
- 42:18Speaker 3: so crazy, Like you're getting a thirty dollars bottle of
- 42:21Speaker 3: so rock and you're selling it for five hundred dollars,
- 42:24Speaker 3: four hundred dollars plus tip, plus the whole bottle service
- 42:28Speaker 3: gratuity and all of that. And to me, it really
- 42:31Speaker 3: changed the whole vibe of the night life scene. So
- 42:33Speaker 3: you being a hosting, you know, night life specialist and
- 42:37Speaker 3: all of that, how did it change it? And like,
- 42:39Speaker 3: what's the profit margins in clubs? Is it as profitable
- 42:43Speaker 3: as it's because on the outlot on the outside looking
- 42:45Speaker 3: and it looks like a very profitable business.
- 42:47Speaker 4: Is it as profitable as it when you.
- 42:50Speaker 2: Own the club? You know what I'm saying. If you
- 42:52Speaker 2: own the dirt, you're getting your bread, you know what
- 42:55Speaker 2: I'm saying. When you're doing parties and it's like I've
- 42:57Speaker 2: never seen no shit like what they're doing. Today twenty
- 43:00Speaker 2: five promoters, you know, for the same party. How were
- 43:03Speaker 2: you getting money? I don't know, I need to know,
- 43:05Speaker 2: I need answers. But like in the beginning, it was
- 43:08Speaker 2: about the experience, you know what I'm saying, anything I've
- 43:10Speaker 2: ever done personally, but you're asking me how the you know,
- 43:14Speaker 2: how it's gone from that to this. So in the
- 43:17Speaker 2: beginning was about the vibe, you know what I'm saying,
- 43:19Speaker 2: and I think you know, you started to cater to
- 43:21Speaker 2: more of the needs and that's that's why service came up.
- 43:25Speaker 2: Because you know what I'm saying, real get money. Motherfuckers
- 43:28Speaker 2: wouldn't come out and dance like that. They wanted to
- 43:30Speaker 2: be kind of posted up on the side, you see,
- 43:32Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying. So you kind of you
- 43:33Speaker 2: had to, you know, cater to that. But then the
- 43:38Speaker 2: flip did too, like the world famous compound here in Atlanta,
- 43:41Speaker 2: like you know, ten, twelve, thirteen years ago, when we
- 43:44Speaker 2: started that month, well actually I'm sorry, fifteen years ago.
- 43:46Speaker 2: We just had the fifteen anniversary this year. But when
- 43:49Speaker 2: we started that, the tables became just center pieces of
- 43:54Speaker 2: the celebration. It was not like you and the joint
- 43:57Speaker 2: chilling Oh, no stand on some fucking ferns. We about
- 43:59Speaker 2: to couch for this motherfucker life with for swag, sir.
- 44:02Speaker 2: But my point is, like, you know, it's it's all
- 44:05Speaker 2: in who does what, right. So if Kenny Burns does
- 44:08Speaker 2: a party, if I do Cassette, you come in to
- 44:10Speaker 2: dance like women are bringing scrunchies in their purse, They
- 44:13Speaker 2: putting that hair up, and they gonna get to it
- 44:14Speaker 2: because they know that this is the one time a
- 44:17Speaker 2: month I can have the best time of my life,
- 44:19Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying. And I think it has
- 44:21Speaker 2: a lot to do with the promoters like Alex he
- 44:22Speaker 2: could care less as long as he sells those tables.
- 44:25Speaker 2: And you're asking Margins, we had ag entertainment. He's he
- 44:30Speaker 2: was my partner at the Funk Clinic too. But he's
- 44:32Speaker 2: the only actually land club owner here that is a
- 44:37Speaker 2: friend of mine. I mean, like there to others, I'm sure,
- 44:39Speaker 2: but I mean a lot of people got leases and things,
- 44:41Speaker 2: but he actually owns the dirt at compound. But for me, man, like,
- 44:45Speaker 2: I'll never forget. We did seven hundred thousand dollars at
- 44:49Speaker 2: the bar in one night, seven hundred thousand seven. Jermaine
- 44:53Speaker 2: dupri had. I think it was so so deaf twenty
- 44:56Speaker 2: and he had J come and so we booked J
- 44:59Speaker 2: at the comp It's a legendary picture that put on screen.
- 45:04Speaker 2: I think, yeah, so it's me Gezy Pacas too. No, no,
- 45:09Speaker 2: she that was at the at Rain, but this one, Yeah,
- 45:12Speaker 2: we just Sai on hundred at the bar. So it's
- 45:13Speaker 2: very lucrative. And if you think about like, okay, let's
- 45:15Speaker 2: let's just let's look at expenses if you have, if
- 45:18Speaker 2: you if you're leasing a club in a major metropolitan
- 45:22Speaker 2: city outside of New York and LA on Miami, because
- 45:24Speaker 2: that's strange fruit but meaning like it's just ridiculous, right,
- 45:28Speaker 2: But if you do like DC, Atlanta, Chicago, whatever, Right,
- 45:31Speaker 2: you're gonna probably pay up as the fifteen you know,
- 45:34Speaker 2: fifteen thousand a month, twenty thousands, just say it's thirty
- 45:37Speaker 2: thousand a month, thirty thousand a month. You really could
- 45:40Speaker 2: do on one day, Like the compound is only open
- 45:42Speaker 2: on Saturdays, and they rented out there in time, so
- 45:44Speaker 2: you got to imagine they make their nut, you know
- 45:46Speaker 2: what I'm saying, and a half a party, you know
- 45:48Speaker 2: what I'm saying, And the rest of the month you
- 45:49Speaker 2: know what I'm saying is expensive and profit right, So
- 45:52Speaker 2: I mean, it's very lucrative if you if you really
- 45:54Speaker 2: got the game down pack. But I don't suggest anyone
- 45:56Speaker 2: getting that game thinking you're just gonna get paid. It
- 45:58Speaker 2: takes years to earn that those relationships.
- 46:00Speaker 3: How stressful is it booking artists that might come, might
- 46:03Speaker 3: not come, might come drunk.
- 46:05Speaker 2: You paid. You know. I never depend on artists like
- 46:08Speaker 2: That's why I became a host. I never wanted to
- 46:11Speaker 2: ride or die on the talent. That's why in the
- 46:14Speaker 2: marketing field, I never did deals with idiots, you know
- 46:18Speaker 2: what I'm saying. I never did deals with people that
- 46:20Speaker 2: I didn't think were you know what I'm saying, equipped
- 46:23Speaker 2: to get, you know, to give me what I need
- 46:25Speaker 2: or give the client, because I was basically the plug
- 46:28Speaker 2: or the connector. But yeah, and I never wanted That's
- 46:31Speaker 2: why even with Cassette, it's about the party. We bring
- 46:33Speaker 2: artists every month.
- 46:34Speaker 5: I feel like people come because they know it's you.
- 46:36Speaker 5: Yeah it's not they're not like somebody else. Being there
- 46:39Speaker 5: is like a past, but it's like they know what
- 46:41Speaker 5: your party means. And big shout to all these hosts
- 46:44Speaker 5: out there.
- 46:44Speaker 2: But I'm different, like I'm really an artist, Like I'm
- 46:46Speaker 2: the fifth member of fucking Jagged Edge. I'm you know
- 46:50Speaker 2: what I'm saying, Like if you, if you, if you
- 46:52Speaker 2: watch me, I'm laying on the fucking floor, nigga, I'm
- 46:54Speaker 2: rolling around, I'm dancing with the bigger I'm doing whatever.
- 46:58Speaker 2: I'm doing whatever, because I I really believe that if
- 47:02Speaker 2: you're not having a good time like you will not
- 47:04Speaker 2: be a repeat customer. That's a fact, you know what
- 47:06Speaker 2: I'm saying. And that's I mean, that's in the entertainment
- 47:08Speaker 2: business in general. But I all you, guys, anybody I've
- 47:11Speaker 2: I've mentored thousands directly or indirectly. I party with hundreds
- 47:15Speaker 2: of thousands, and I guarantee you, if it's something that
- 47:18Speaker 2: I have control over, they leave having the best time
- 47:21Speaker 2: they had.
- 47:22Speaker 4: Did bottle service rumin the night club?
- 47:24Speaker 2: See? No, not at all, not at all. So no,
- 47:27Speaker 2: because it's to show me. I just said at the beginning,
- 47:30Speaker 2: this is a show me culture. And what better way.
- 47:32Speaker 2: I mean, we started the hundred bottles, like, Polo, do
- 47:37Speaker 2: you think you should come by a hundred bottles?
- 47:40Speaker 3: How crazy? I just didn't think about something you've been
- 47:42Speaker 3: on landing for a long time. He was throwing parties
- 47:44Speaker 3: on land.
- 47:44Speaker 2: For all long time. Pray, do you think it fucked
- 47:47Speaker 2: up the nightlight?
- 47:47Speaker 3: I think it changed it drastically better and worse, because
- 47:51Speaker 3: how do you make money if you don't from that standpoint,
- 47:53Speaker 3: but from an actual party, it's not a party. Nobody's
- 47:55Speaker 3: partying nobody.
- 47:56Speaker 2: No, no, you young mother, not you motherfuckers ain't. And
- 48:00Speaker 2: now they're trying to get back to party because the
- 48:02Speaker 2: old niggas is saying what the party was. Like, my
- 48:04Speaker 2: whole thing is niggas is really the dyslexic when it
- 48:08Speaker 2: comes to the truth. It's like they view it and
- 48:11Speaker 2: read it in their own way. They take their you
- 48:13Speaker 2: know what I'm saying, their their skew on it is different.
- 48:16Speaker 2: Like if you go to a party where it's a
- 48:19Speaker 2: bunch of niggas smoking weed and taking lean and peels,
- 48:24Speaker 2: and then you got the girls doing it too, you're
- 48:27Speaker 2: not gonna have a good time because everybody's high as
- 48:30Speaker 2: a motherfucker. But if you go to a party where
- 48:33Speaker 2: you're little high when you balance out by the liquor
- 48:36Speaker 2: and you got a bunch of women, because listen, ladies,
- 48:41Speaker 2: if they have killer tattooed on their forehead, if their
- 48:45Speaker 2: teeth are super fucked up from all the fucking drugs
- 48:50Speaker 2: they take, if their lips are black from fucking smoking
- 48:55Speaker 2: so many black and mouths, not even weed, you must
- 48:58Speaker 2: re evacuate place service announcement. But that's the motherfuckers that
- 49:02Speaker 2: you're talking about. You're not talking about the motherfuckers that
- 49:05Speaker 2: smell good and put on that motherfucking y'all mean and
- 49:07Speaker 2: go out to have a good time. You're talking about
- 49:10Speaker 2: the hoigh motherfuckers. You got to be told it's tough
- 49:12Speaker 2: to mix those two, don't. I had a white party
- 49:17Speaker 2: this past literally, this is the facts, the one hundred
- 49:20Speaker 2: percent truth. I had a white party labor they week
- 49:23Speaker 2: weekend at the world famous compound, and you know we
- 49:26Speaker 2: do this annual white party. We're doing this ship. I've
- 49:28Speaker 2: heard heard about it. So literally to the left of
- 49:32Speaker 2: me is the harber Shah fucking mafia right Ethiopia. I'm
- 49:38Speaker 2: about to say, like the it's real, it's a real
- 49:44Speaker 2: big shots reach my Ethiopians. But like literally and they
- 49:48Speaker 2: smoking all the jewelry on the ship and they not moving.
- 49:54Speaker 2: They want to hear trap, that's all they want to hear.
- 49:57Speaker 2: To the right of me is Ludacris. You know my wife,
- 50:02Speaker 2: you doc see like you know what I'm saying. All
- 50:04Speaker 2: our crew and they're that motherfucker life and that motherfucker
- 50:10Speaker 2: having the time in their life, and it for me
- 50:12Speaker 2: was the moment I had to decide I am never
- 50:18Speaker 2: doing any trap ship again because it's just not who
- 50:24Speaker 2: I am. It's just not who I and I love.
- 50:26Speaker 2: I loved Little Baby. It's probably my favorite new art,
- 50:30Speaker 2: like I love his albums, right, but I just you
- 50:36Speaker 2: know what I'm saying, I don't want to I want
- 50:38Speaker 2: to be dancing next to something soft, you know what
- 50:40Speaker 2: I'm saying about, and that smells good. You know what
- 50:42Speaker 2: I'm saying with the hair up, and I don't want
- 50:44Speaker 2: to be nervous. You know what I'm saying. Let me
- 50:46Speaker 2: shure this because niggas is talking. You were in Atlanta
- 50:50Speaker 2: fall long time and you did probably fall on time.
- 50:52Speaker 2: How big? How big?
- 50:54Speaker 3: We wasn't in Atlanta. We just came to Atlanta recently.
- 50:57Speaker 3: How big was being f Oh being f was yeah?
- 51:01Speaker 2: I mean you know if you look at the drug
- 51:04Speaker 2: dealer teals from city. But like in the clubs, like
- 51:06Speaker 2: cause we heard the story. I'm gonna tell you what
- 51:11Speaker 2: I witnessed. I came back the year before he got
- 51:16Speaker 2: shot in the ass, and then oh yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 51:22Speaker 2: yeah yeah, so so he got shot yeah yeah. So
- 51:28Speaker 2: long story short, I'm I'm literally like, move, I moved back.
- 51:33Speaker 2: Visions is open, right. So Alex is obviously one of
- 51:36Speaker 2: my best friends, and he was you know, he started
- 51:38Speaker 2: booming when I left in the party. I'm talking about
- 51:39Speaker 2: what he was thinking about, ownership, got his club, so
- 51:41Speaker 2: for and so on. So he wanted me to host
- 51:43Speaker 2: over at the Vision spot, right. So I had been
- 51:46Speaker 2: hearing this Meech story and this being that story. But
- 51:49Speaker 2: I was around the world, you know, coming up in
- 51:51Speaker 2: the music business. So I come home, I'm hosting. So
- 51:54Speaker 2: DJ Infamous is on the one or two's and we're rocking,
- 51:58Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying. I saw Gez coming. I
- 51:59Speaker 2: was like no, d you know, doing my shoutouts, and
- 52:02Speaker 2: then all of a sudden, here comes Meech and it
- 52:06Speaker 2: looked like he's with the FOI nigga when I say
- 52:08Speaker 2: it was militant. The way they walked in the club,
- 52:12Speaker 2: my nigga. So Meach walks in, So I'm like, damn,
- 52:15Speaker 2: this finally my opportunity to shot them out, get them
- 52:18Speaker 2: on my radar. You know what I'm saying. So I'm
- 52:21Speaker 2: I'm hip to everybody. I'm knowing who everybody is. So
- 52:24Speaker 2: I was like, big shout to me. My life sned
- 52:26Speaker 2: brother from another mother just popped in the building. You
- 52:28Speaker 2: know what I'm saying, Like that, it's time to celebrate.
- 52:31Speaker 2: He literally, like with his back was turned to the
- 52:35Speaker 2: DJ booth. He literally turned around and everybody stopped. As
- 52:39Speaker 2: he begins to turn around, it was like it was pharakhn,
- 52:42Speaker 2: I promise you, everybody stops. He turned around and then
- 52:46Speaker 2: he looked at he looked up at the booth and
- 52:48Speaker 2: he was like with his bottle of PJ. And then
- 52:51Speaker 2: everybody in the booth was like. I was like, sho,
- 52:56Speaker 2: just a niggas like Pharah con is this motherfucker right?
- 52:59Speaker 2: And then the next day I'm driving down P Street
- 53:02Speaker 2: from Lenox. The nigga walking down the street, Nigga with
- 53:05Speaker 2: a perms, nigga had a perm down to here, nigga
- 53:07Speaker 2: with two German shepherds leading him, Nigga with a whole
- 53:11Speaker 2: fucking I'm like, who is this? So b like and
- 53:15Speaker 2: then I promise you. I was at Greenbrin Mall and
- 53:20Speaker 2: I didn't see him there, but a guy was standing
- 53:22Speaker 2: next to the cash register and he had a bag
- 53:27Speaker 2: of money on the thing, you know what I'm saying.
- 53:30Speaker 2: And apparently me, you know, told him to go up there.
- 53:33Speaker 2: In every purchase for back to school, you know what
- 53:35Speaker 2: I'm saying, you paid for this ship until the money
- 53:37Speaker 2: runs out. So everybody was like they was getting fit.
- 53:39Speaker 2: So I witnessed a few things, but the stories out
- 53:42Speaker 2: here are unbelievable.
- 53:44Speaker 3: That that militant where everybody's looking sounds like somebody that
- 53:47Speaker 3: we just read it.
- 53:48Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, man.
- 53:49Speaker 5: We were in Houston and we've been trying, like Biggs
- 53:52Speaker 5: is one of those people we've been trying to get on.
- 53:53Speaker 2: We ran into him a few times. We can't connect.
- 53:56Speaker 5: We went to Houston with the intent of meeting Jay
- 53:59Speaker 5: Prince and trying to him him on the last Indeed.
- 54:05Speaker 4: We'll tell that story one day. And his son, yeah,
- 54:12Speaker 4: all of them.
- 54:12Speaker 2: Five of them, Junior is yeah, Junior's I mean, listen,
- 54:17Speaker 2: it is what it is, right. So it's like you
- 54:19Speaker 2: knowing that you got to act accordingly or you know
- 54:21Speaker 2: what I'm saying. But I like the pressure. You know
- 54:24Speaker 2: what I'm saying. I think they too, because somebody said no, no,
- 54:27Speaker 2: but but but it ain't even unwarranted though, Like I mean,
- 54:30Speaker 2: J Prince is still around because he's made the right move.
- 54:33Speaker 2: Not just moves, he made the right move. And when
- 54:35Speaker 2: you are part of that street culture, like it's a
- 54:38Speaker 2: he comes from the school of rules. It's just things
- 54:40Speaker 2: you do and don't do. And so I applaud him
- 54:44Speaker 2: for being able to walk that walk and continue that.
- 54:46Speaker 2: I just saw somebody say, I think it was my
- 54:51Speaker 2: guy Ruggs. It's like, you guys really think y'all gangsters,
- 54:55Speaker 2: But y'all never been tested, y'all never had that thing on.
- 54:58Speaker 2: Y'all about to lose your life, you know what I'm saying,
- 55:00Speaker 2: or have to take you know what I'm saying. So
- 55:01Speaker 2: it's like people be all here, y'all be like, yeah,
- 55:04Speaker 2: y'all sol gangster. It's just like Takashi. I hate to
- 55:08Speaker 2: even bring but it is scary. Probably all my ship
- 55:15Speaker 2: sat That's what I'm talking. But my point is, you know,
- 55:20Speaker 2: it's it's a thing that when you like you really
- 55:23Speaker 2: sign up for this ship, and like I remember Takashi,
- 55:25Speaker 2: like out here, like blood. It's like Daniel Chill, like
- 55:31Speaker 2: you just had the all blue bed sheet when you
- 55:34Speaker 2: just a crib. Like my thing is damn. But that
- 55:39Speaker 2: be my thing though, Like is that is? You know?
- 55:41Speaker 2: Because again this, this whole thing, all this ship is about.
- 55:45Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying, the look and what I'm doing.
- 55:47Speaker 2: I've never heard of so many gang bangers in my
- 55:51Speaker 2: forty six years of life. I'm never I never heard
- 55:55Speaker 2: of this man. And to be honest with you, when
- 55:57Speaker 2: Jimmy and them was blooding back in the day when
- 55:59Speaker 2: it was all of it Rockefeller, it blew me like, go,
- 56:01Speaker 2: they really got bloods over here. Yeah, that's all new
- 56:04Speaker 2: to me. That was so long in New York to
- 56:05Speaker 2: me and I've been around Like I'm like, oh shit,
- 56:07Speaker 2: but if that's what y'all doing, you know what I'm saying.
- 56:09Speaker 2: But my thing is like this shit be such fads, right,
- 56:14Speaker 2: It's like it's so popular to be this so so
- 56:16Speaker 2: popular until you go to jail, do you know? And
- 56:19Speaker 2: this is what I want to tell to all my hustles.
- 56:21Speaker 2: I don't even know how you get money no more.
- 56:22Speaker 2: But do you know this device? You have to watch
- 56:25Speaker 2: the great hack, watch the great hack. They try to
- 56:28Speaker 2: start off the Great Hack by telling you they do
- 56:30Speaker 2: not listen to your conversation. But that's bullshit because there's
- 56:32Speaker 2: no way you can get ads in your feeds if
- 56:34Speaker 2: they don't know what you're talking about. That's one that's okay.
- 56:37Speaker 2: But if you think about the proper aganda right and
- 56:40Speaker 2: the great hack they were telling us basically, yo, the
- 56:44Speaker 2: motherfucking Cambridge Analytica is the ones who created all the
- 56:48Speaker 2: black Lives fucking memes and all that shit and send
- 56:51Speaker 2: them to all the motherfucker weird white motherfuckers and all
- 56:54Speaker 2: the closet races that were still in the closet, you
- 56:56Speaker 2: know what I'm saying, and had it come out and
- 56:58Speaker 2: that's why Trump run like, you gotta watch the you had.
- 57:00Speaker 2: This ship is unbelieved Netflix, right, it's on Netflix. You
- 57:03Speaker 2: gotta watch that ship. But that's that's my point with
- 57:05Speaker 2: these these you know, instant Instagram gangsters, of these Internet
- 57:09Speaker 2: gangsters or these tough people. You know, you can say
- 57:11Speaker 2: anything online. You say anything you want online. It's no
- 57:13Speaker 2: repercussion until you run into that motherfucker and then you
- 57:17Speaker 2: got a problem, you know. So, But you know, I
- 57:20Speaker 2: wish everybody the best.
- 57:22Speaker 3: And the last segment we're gonna talk We're gonna talk
- 57:24Speaker 3: about what you got going on to each other, WI,
- 57:26Speaker 3: your lique company, and the spirits industry.
- 57:27Speaker 2: We're gonna get into that.
- 57:29Speaker 3: So in the last segment, we're gonna talk about a
- 57:30Speaker 3: billion dollar industry, maybe even more than that, uh, the spirits,
- 57:34Speaker 3: the spirits industry. And you are a co owner well
- 57:37Speaker 3: before I even go there. So you are a brand
- 57:38Speaker 3: ambasket of for great Goosarak Delhion, any other.
- 57:44Speaker 2: Well, let's just start here. I created all the influencer
- 57:46Speaker 2: programs that all spirit companies use. I was, like I said,
- 57:50Speaker 2: I created the heinik ar rest Our Soul Tour so
- 57:53Speaker 2: I can host it. So Heineken was a big part
- 57:56Speaker 2: in the beginning of that for me. But my thirty
- 57:57Speaker 2: fifth birthday is when I became a legend of it.
- 57:59Speaker 2: But because I did it. I did my thirty fifth
- 58:02Speaker 2: birthday party at the Vasachi Mansion and I paid for
- 58:04Speaker 2: chicken tenders. I had like one hundred and seventy five Yeah,
- 58:09Speaker 2: I literally liked. I mean I did a favor. I
- 58:11Speaker 2: was ear hustling in DC big shot to Mark Bonds
- 58:14Speaker 2: at his club Love and the reps for more Hennessy
- 58:19Speaker 2: were there and they were like, I got a problem,
- 58:20Speaker 2: like listening, they got a problem. This fucking guy Alex
- 58:23Speaker 2: and his brothers. They like the fucking mob down there.
- 58:25Speaker 2: They won't let us in these clubs. They're fucking tell
- 58:27Speaker 2: us we gotta pay X Y and Z. I said,
- 58:29Speaker 2: excuse mell me to be eavesdropping, but I can help
- 58:31Speaker 2: you with your problem. And so they were like, yeah,
- 58:34Speaker 2: you're sure because I don't know. I said, no, these
- 58:35Speaker 2: are these are my best friends. Like there's a problem
- 58:39Speaker 2: that's fixable. I can fix it. So they were like
- 58:41Speaker 2: all right, cool. So two weeks later I had him
- 58:44Speaker 2: back in the club and they're like, yo, what can
- 58:45Speaker 2: we do for you. I was like, well, I'm turning
- 58:47Speaker 2: thirty five and I want to do my birthday party
- 58:49Speaker 2: the Vasaci mansion. So they were like, yeah, that might
- 58:52Speaker 2: get a little price. He maybe do a couple of brands.
- 58:54Speaker 2: Blah blah blah. Said okay, cool, let me know, I said,
- 58:56Speaker 2: you know what. Two weeks later they call me, you
- 58:57Speaker 2: got it. You know what I'm saying, parties yours, get
- 59:01Speaker 2: the event planning and let us know who were cutting
- 59:02Speaker 2: the checks too, blah blah. So obviously then social media
- 59:06Speaker 2: wasn't you know, I mean they have all or whatever.
- 59:08Speaker 2: So we ended up getting like a billion impressions because
- 59:11Speaker 2: Star Jones and al Reynolds were in a relationship and
- 59:14Speaker 2: she was on the view. I don't even know if
- 59:15Speaker 2: y'all remember this, Yeah, but it was the biggest thing
- 59:18Speaker 2: in the tabloid thing. So I mean obviously all the
- 59:20Speaker 2: Fat Joe's, like all the rappers that uh So anyway,
- 59:24Speaker 2: so we were we had this amazing party. But from that,
- 59:27Speaker 2: the global head of marketing came because they got a
- 59:31Speaker 2: My invitation was a bibble ahead of me, and they
- 59:35Speaker 2: usually don't do cross branding promotion on the box I had,
- 59:37Speaker 2: like all the because they had to get money from
- 59:39Speaker 2: each ten came from Don Perry on mo Ed you
- 59:42Speaker 2: know what I'm saying, Hennessy and Belvedere. So long story,
- 59:45Speaker 2: Shorty came up because you're like, why are we doing
- 59:47Speaker 2: this for this non celebrity, Like we're spending a lot
- 59:51Speaker 2: of money, Like why are we doing it? So when
- 59:53Speaker 2: they came over, they were like, yo, like this is unreal,
- 59:56Speaker 2: Like this this dude brought all these people, now mind
- 59:59Speaker 2: you seventy to yeah, probably eighty percent of the people
- 1:00:03Speaker 2: flew in for the party, and so they were just
- 1:00:05Speaker 2: amazed by So after that they were like, yo, can
- 1:00:07Speaker 2: we do some other things, Let's try this. So I
- 1:00:09Speaker 2: would do little things this, that and the third. But
- 1:00:11Speaker 2: then when it got into Grey Goose puffles on fire
- 1:00:15Speaker 2: with the flavors and so great Goose had had a
- 1:00:18Speaker 2: little while. Let's sitron La Wrongs like all these flavors,
- 1:00:21Speaker 2: but they weren't popping. They were like, can you help
- 1:00:24Speaker 2: us with these flavors? I said, well, let me pick
- 1:00:27Speaker 2: the flavor. You get that to me for six months,
- 1:00:29Speaker 2: I'll you know, I'll pop it off in Atlanta. We'll
- 1:00:31Speaker 2: see how it goes. Six six months, we were up
- 1:00:35Speaker 2: four hundred and ninety eight percent because I had the
- 1:00:37Speaker 2: club like I had, you know, the war I'm sorry,
- 1:00:39Speaker 2: the Compound Gold Room like pre made all the clubs
- 1:00:43Speaker 2: I had, right, I was just like I got to
- 1:00:46Speaker 2: have a spind you know what I'm saying. So long
- 1:00:48Speaker 2: story short, that caught on like wildfire. They ended up
- 1:00:50Speaker 2: giving me a million dollars on my credit card. That
- 1:00:52Speaker 2: y'all did Drake Tour. I did a whole bunch of
- 1:00:55Speaker 2: different stuff. But they were like, yo, like we we
- 1:00:57Speaker 2: want to do. You know, we want to do a
- 1:00:59Speaker 2: fucking program with right and helped us set up with
- 1:01:01Speaker 2: other people in other markets. So I started putting them
- 1:01:03Speaker 2: with people and then Puff came and this is when
- 1:01:09Speaker 2: Puff and I got did y'all hear about that ship
- 1:01:11Speaker 2: when me and Puff got into it as the thing
- 1:01:12Speaker 2: it was on MTV fight, No, it almost turned into
- 1:01:15Speaker 2: a fight. It wasn't. What happened was so he had
- 1:01:21Speaker 2: Justin's restaurant down here back then, and so you know,
- 1:01:25Speaker 2: I was popping like grey Goose was on fire, and
- 1:01:29Speaker 2: I was like, let me fuck with him, you know
- 1:01:30Speaker 2: what I'm saying. So I put a billboard right on
- 1:01:32Speaker 2: the side of the motherfucking Justin's with a bob. It
- 1:01:35Speaker 2: was literally like this, and he has a rock. At
- 1:01:37Speaker 2: that time, he was on fire. It was the height,
- 1:01:40Speaker 2: it was Coco and all that. So I want to
- 1:01:43Speaker 2: I'm on the billboard right like literally across the street.
- 1:01:47Speaker 2: So he was coming to the compound right and we
- 1:01:50Speaker 2: had him at the compound. I forget Tip just got
- 1:01:52Speaker 2: out of jail for the gun ship, and I put
- 1:01:57Speaker 2: my booth in front of his booth for the crowd
- 1:02:00Speaker 2: to see. So every time they ordered one two s,
- 1:02:03Speaker 2: I ordered three or four like it's gray goose. So
- 1:02:05Speaker 2: I was, and so after a minute he was getting irritated.
- 1:02:09Speaker 2: But me, I'm thinking, you Puff, Daddy, I noticed to Daddy.
- 1:02:13Speaker 2: If you wanted to, you could say, oh, he has
- 1:02:15Speaker 2: to stop buying because Alex own the club. I didn't
- 1:02:17Speaker 2: own the club, I mean had the influence of the club.
- 1:02:19Speaker 2: I didn't know you, my man. But if he said
- 1:02:23Speaker 2: I'm leaving, if he doesn't stop or something, it would
- 1:02:26Speaker 2: have been fair because I really was fucking with him,
- 1:02:28Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying. But he lost his cool.
- 1:02:30Speaker 2: He threw a piece of ice hit my little stick
- 1:02:32Speaker 2: man in the face, right, but behind him was you know,
- 1:02:36Speaker 2: one of my my guys, right, So he didn't realize it,
- 1:02:39Speaker 2: but I saw it. And mind you, so say she's
- 1:02:43Speaker 2: the guy who got hit in the head with the ice.
- 1:02:45Speaker 2: It's me, You're puffed. So they're like, I mean they're
- 1:02:48Speaker 2: really like twelve feet apart, but y'all equal, me and
- 1:02:51Speaker 2: TI equal. So Puff gets the mic after he is
- 1:02:54Speaker 2: the dude he's like, yo, you fucking light skinned niggas. Now,
- 1:02:57Speaker 2: mind you, the nigga he talked to is not light
- 1:03:00Speaker 2: That means the whole time in his head, he's talking
- 1:03:02Speaker 2: to me, right, so I'd like this nigga's wild. And
- 1:03:05Speaker 2: so Tip gets to Mike and Tip's like, Yo, it's
- 1:03:08Speaker 2: they shit, this is house, nigga. He can draank what
- 1:03:11Speaker 2: he wanted. And then Puff's like, don't do that. Don't
- 1:03:14Speaker 2: do that. So at the time, I'm like, yo, Puff
- 1:03:16Speaker 2: is not like he didn't look you know what I'm saying.
- 1:03:18Speaker 2: So I was like, let me get over there. So
- 1:03:20Speaker 2: I Tip is here to me, y'all. So I'm making
- 1:03:23Speaker 2: my way, nigga. When I tell you, six thousand people
- 1:03:26Speaker 2: in the world famers compound, I'm making my way over.
- 1:03:28Speaker 2: So I get over and I'm like you straight cause
- 1:03:30Speaker 2: the dude t the dude who got hit, is actually terrified.
- 1:03:32Speaker 2: The dude in the back of him broke bottles ready
- 1:03:34Speaker 2: to rush, like the whole shit. And I'm like, yo,
- 1:03:36Speaker 2: chill out, a nigga, like it ain't none of that's happening.
- 1:03:38Speaker 2: So I'm like boom so. But then Puff's like, yeah,
- 1:03:40Speaker 2: fuck you too, nigga, and I'm like, and mind you
- 1:03:43Speaker 2: now he's seen me working my I'm coming to you.
- 1:03:46Speaker 2: I'm coming to do that. So I jump up on
- 1:03:49Speaker 2: the thing, and I big big shout to Rube BK.
- 1:03:52Speaker 2: Rube jumps over cause he's like, yo, what's the stick
- 1:03:54Speaker 2: of doing? And then James Cruz and whoever. I was like, no, that'
- 1:03:57Speaker 2: knning nigga. Let them figure that shit out, nigga. If
- 1:03:59Speaker 2: they start fighting, let you know what I'm saying. So
- 1:04:01Speaker 2: I'm moving on. So I grabbed and I was like, Yo,
- 1:04:03Speaker 2: do you know you make a half a million dollars nigga?
- 1:04:07Speaker 2: And this nigga you're hitting the ie makes thirty six
- 1:04:09Speaker 2: style like you're tripping, Like, calm down, nigga, no one's coming.
- 1:04:13Speaker 2: Look around us, no one's coming. I live here, no
- 1:04:17Speaker 2: one's coming. Like chill out. So I ended up squads
- 1:04:20Speaker 2: or whatever. But my point is like, not only did
- 1:04:23Speaker 2: I save lives that I'm just saying like it was
- 1:04:30Speaker 2: it had been a melee. I remember that it's not
- 1:04:33Speaker 2: even me and him. I'm talking about the regular motherfucker's
- 1:04:35Speaker 2: getting trampled and running.
- 1:04:37Speaker 3: You know, I didn't know that was you because I
- 1:04:38Speaker 3: remember exactly. I have a photographic memory, if anybody that
- 1:04:40Speaker 3: doesn't know. So I remember watching that clip on World
- 1:04:43Speaker 3: Star something like that.
- 1:04:45Speaker 4: And he was like, yeah, motherfucker's order me Great Goose
- 1:04:49Speaker 4: and t I was like, I just got jail.
- 1:04:51Speaker 2: Nobody's going, Hey, I'm not going back to jail for
- 1:04:53Speaker 2: nobody live here. And to be honest that that, I
- 1:04:59Speaker 2: thought it was over with Great Goose after that, but
- 1:05:01Speaker 2: it got so much press and he was you know,
- 1:05:03Speaker 2: Puff back then was sending toilets to like velvety like
- 1:05:06Speaker 2: puffles off the chain, you know what I'm saying. So
- 1:05:09Speaker 2: they were like, yo, like this guy is you know
- 1:05:11Speaker 2: what I'm saying. So anyway, Puff offered me a job
- 1:05:13Speaker 2: two weeks later to come work for He's a genius,
- 1:05:16Speaker 2: so he uh, he was like, you come work for Sarah,
- 1:05:18Speaker 2: And I kept saying no for like another year. Intol
- 1:05:20Speaker 2: the revolt happened and then we was rocking story. I'm
- 1:05:27Speaker 2: gonna tell you this right now, Like you know, Puff
- 1:05:31Speaker 2: is a superhero, you know, but he also has done
- 1:05:36Speaker 2: things along the way that taints that. Right. But you
- 1:05:39Speaker 2: will never find someone who has contributed more to this generation,
- 1:05:44Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying. It wouldn't be a lot
- 1:05:46Speaker 2: of jobs, it wouldn't be a lot of opportunities, It
- 1:05:48Speaker 2: worn't for that man. So as much as we fight
- 1:05:50Speaker 2: we brothers, and you know it is shut out the puff.
- 1:05:54Speaker 2: So all right, season the uncle black man, that's.
- 1:05:58Speaker 3: What we call se that's the fact, especially when you
- 1:06:01Speaker 3: had Cassie unfortunate situation.
- 1:06:03Speaker 2: Woa you just why did you Jesus forgive this man
- 1:06:08Speaker 2: graduation in soft open wound? Jesus shot the fux shout
- 1:06:13Speaker 2: the fun meet you on the podcast. So I didn't
- 1:06:17Speaker 2: even say that. God that would later be edited. Look
- 1:06:22Speaker 2: the way the way the pop's heart now talk about
- 1:06:25Speaker 2: his women.
- 1:06:28Speaker 4: Troy Choice said it. Anybody who's listening to her Choice
- 1:06:31Speaker 4: Choice said it.
- 1:06:33Speaker 3: There is eighteen near eighteen fifty six right now, you're
- 1:06:37Speaker 3: you're part owning the company.
- 1:06:38Speaker 4: It's an interesting story. So he was the original black
- 1:06:42Speaker 4: Well he a slave.
- 1:06:43Speaker 2: Yeah, Uncle Nearest was a slave, first generation slave, brought
- 1:06:48Speaker 2: to America and was the master distiller for Jack Daniels.
- 1:06:54Speaker 2: Basically right, and the story goes, just to catch you
- 1:06:58Speaker 2: up in eighteen fifty six, there was an orphan by
- 1:07:02Speaker 2: the name of Jack Dames who came to the dan
- 1:07:04Speaker 2: Call farm where Uncle Niris made whiskey for a preacher
- 1:07:07Speaker 2: Dan Call. But dan Call's congregation was like, yo, like
- 1:07:11Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying, you can't be selling the
- 1:07:12Speaker 2: devil was juice and preaching, you know what I'm saying.
- 1:07:15Speaker 2: So basically, you know, Jack Dames was an or for
- 1:07:19Speaker 2: living there, and he was so interested in what was
- 1:07:21Speaker 2: going on with the whiskey. He was like, you know, basically,
- 1:07:24Speaker 2: let me get a shot at it. In long story short,
- 1:07:27Speaker 2: you know, he was a very tiny man, so he
- 1:07:30Speaker 2: looked like a kid and he can get away and
- 1:07:32Speaker 2: get through things. And back then, you know, they had
- 1:07:33Speaker 2: like shoot to kill, like civil war like orders for
- 1:07:36Speaker 2: people trying to sell whiskey to the troops and things
- 1:07:38Speaker 2: like that. But he was quite the salesman and Uncle
- 1:07:41Speaker 2: Niris was his you know, was his teacher. And fast
- 1:07:44Speaker 2: forward in the seventies, I think it kind of got
- 1:07:46Speaker 2: lost in the sauce about who nearest and his family was.
- 1:07:50Speaker 2: There's an infamous picture out there that's actually George, uncle
- 1:07:53Speaker 2: NIS's son, and not him. A lot of people say
- 1:07:57Speaker 2: it's Uncle Niris, that's his son George, but you know,
- 1:07:59Speaker 2: his fan, you know, has been with the Jack Daniels
- 1:08:03Speaker 2: brand since then in some capacity Fashional forum. But the
- 1:08:08Speaker 2: founder of Uncle Nearsvaarn Weaver. She's the best selling author.
- 1:08:12Speaker 2: Her husband Keith. They were away on vacation and read
- 1:08:15Speaker 2: the story in the international New York Times, and you know,
- 1:08:18Speaker 2: she's an author, so she wanted to, like she just
- 1:08:20Speaker 2: thought that the story was intriguing, so she went to
- 1:08:23Speaker 2: you know, basically figure it out, see what was going on.
- 1:08:25Speaker 2: And then you know, when she started uncovering things, she
- 1:08:28Speaker 2: saw how important Uncle Nears was the Jack. Jack had
- 1:08:32Speaker 2: mentioned Uncle Nears or his boys over fifty times in
- 1:08:36Speaker 2: his autobiography, which we now owned, by the way, the
- 1:08:40Speaker 2: dan Call Farm, which is three hundred and thirty acres
- 1:08:42Speaker 2: where they grew up. She found out it was available
- 1:08:45Speaker 2: to buy. She bought it, so we owned that, and
- 1:08:48Speaker 2: she did a couple of key you know acquisitions around
- 1:08:51Speaker 2: the Jack Daniels property or town if you will, right,
- 1:08:56Speaker 2: because Lynchburg tend to see is Jack Daniels land, right,
- 1:08:59Speaker 2: So yeah, So she basically was like, you know what,
- 1:09:04Speaker 2: I'm going to start a whiskey in honor of him,
- 1:09:08Speaker 2: and she started reaching out to all the family members. O.
- 1:09:13Speaker 2: Our Near Screen foundation puts all of the descendants through
- 1:09:17Speaker 2: college if you can, yea, we have nine in college
- 1:09:21Speaker 2: right now, full ride, not just for Basher's but however
- 1:09:24Speaker 2: long you want to go to school fully paid, all
- 1:09:26Speaker 2: you got to do is maintain a three point zero
- 1:09:28Speaker 2: and pay it for it when you get the opportunity.
- 1:09:30Speaker 2: But that was some of the things that were like
- 1:09:32Speaker 2: amazing to me. Obviously I had been in the spirits,
- 1:09:34Speaker 2: I've done some amazing things. And a person I knew
- 1:09:37Speaker 2: that was doing the series A raise the bulk of
- 1:09:39Speaker 2: the series A was like, yo, you got to meet her,
- 1:09:42Speaker 2: and he was telling her you got to meet him.
- 1:09:44Speaker 2: He's like a savant, like the guy that went against
- 1:09:46Speaker 2: Puff kind of thing like it work with Puff. And
- 1:09:49Speaker 2: so we met and you know, literally the rest is history.
- 1:09:53Speaker 2: That I mean, they were underway, but that was the
- 1:09:55Speaker 2: beginning when I joined. You know, we did the breakfast
- 1:09:58Speaker 2: club and we did all these you know, and it
- 1:10:00Speaker 2: was we broke our website several times just on that
- 1:10:03Speaker 2: promo run alone. And you know, for me, I wanted
- 1:10:06Speaker 2: to go do all the deals in the clubs that
- 1:10:07Speaker 2: I've been doing all this, you know what I'm saying.
- 1:10:09Speaker 2: But I wasn't able to do that because she wanted
- 1:10:12Speaker 2: to go door to door with it. Like her whole
- 1:10:14Speaker 2: approach was, let's get on menus, let's get on cocktail menus,
- 1:10:18Speaker 2: let's you know, deal with the thesepoke mixologists and all that.
- 1:10:21Speaker 2: And so it was just a very great learning curve
- 1:10:24Speaker 2: for me because I come from the oh we need
- 1:10:27Speaker 2: two thousand cases.
- 1:10:28Speaker 4: We're gonna get you, and I want to create sparkles.
- 1:10:32Speaker 2: Yeah, but because that's what I had done that, you know,
- 1:10:35Speaker 2: to that point. But she also was like, well, no,
- 1:10:38Speaker 2: like you know, everybody, you know what I'm saying, Like,
- 1:10:41Speaker 2: all I need you to do is be you, like
- 1:10:43Speaker 2: if you can introduce it to your people at Piro Trader,
- 1:10:47Speaker 2: my guy Pier to Pierre Rodgers that owns Periro Trader,
- 1:10:50Speaker 2: Perio Traders, like the eBay of cigars for like pre
- 1:10:53Speaker 2: embargo nineteen fifty Cubans like just dope, shit, if you're officionado,
- 1:10:57Speaker 2: you should go there and get busy. But you know,
- 1:10:59Speaker 2: I was put and it was just showing up and
- 1:11:01Speaker 2: like you now you're seeing people with millions of ludacris
- 1:11:04Speaker 2: is posting and all of my friends, and it was
- 1:11:06Speaker 2: just very natural and organic, and yeah, the rest will
- 1:11:10Speaker 2: be history. I am a shareholder and my great great
- 1:11:15Speaker 2: grandchildren will be all right for this amazing And I
- 1:11:18Speaker 2: never got equity from anybody else I've done a lot
- 1:11:21Speaker 2: of great things and wanted to start your own thing
- 1:11:23Speaker 2: with certain companies once upon a time, obviously working with
- 1:11:26Speaker 2: Soroccan launching Deli on Apple, Sorocos my launch. So you know,
- 1:11:31Speaker 2: it's it's it's a thing where you're like, damn, a
- 1:11:33Speaker 2: complete stranger. I didn't know her from nothing, she didn't
- 1:11:36Speaker 2: know me from nothing. We were put together and the
- 1:11:38Speaker 2: rest is literally history. Now.
- 1:11:39Speaker 3: I want to thank you, man, appreciate you you. Josh

- 1:13:51Speaker 2: you're gonna get what you came for. You heard them
- 1:13:54Speaker 2: facts peace.
- 1:13:56Speaker 5: So Being at you come from the entertainment industry, music specific,
- 1:14:00Speaker 5: we had a few questions for you being that, being
- 1:14:03Speaker 5: that this new flux of artists, that the space is
- 1:14:05Speaker 5: so crowded, how does a new artist get introduced into
- 1:14:08Speaker 5: the space.
- 1:14:09Speaker 2: What's the best route for them? Yeah, you have to
- 1:14:11Speaker 2: have a level of authenticity. I think that really draws
- 1:14:15Speaker 2: people in. You know what I'm saying. I just think
- 1:14:17Speaker 2: today the ability to make a good hook, the ability
- 1:14:23Speaker 2: to carry the bars keeps you or you know, get
- 1:14:26Speaker 2: you in play. But I think the authenticity will keep
- 1:14:28Speaker 2: you in play. I'm not really good at speaking on
- 1:14:33Speaker 2: what makes a hit. I just know what I like.
- 1:14:36Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying, and if I don't believe you,
- 1:14:39Speaker 2: I can't really give you that respect, you know what
- 1:14:42Speaker 2: I'm saying. And I think that if that would just
- 1:14:44Speaker 2: come back to the game in general, I think we
- 1:14:46Speaker 2: can get rid of a lot of the bullshit because
- 1:14:49Speaker 2: I mean, you know, we might say something is bullshit,
- 1:14:51Speaker 2: but they selling out three thousand seaters or you know
- 1:14:54Speaker 2: what I'm saying. I never thought like six' nine like
- 1:14:59Speaker 2: it would be, success, Right but then if you listen
- 1:15:01Speaker 2: to the grungy way that he almost had a rock
- 1:15:03Speaker 2: rap kind of. VIBE i, mean you can go to
- 1:15:05Speaker 2: plenty of people in history and see how and why that.
- 1:15:08Speaker 2: Works so BUT i just think, authenticity, man you, KNOW
- 1:15:10Speaker 2: i think that the fads come and, go and if
- 1:15:14Speaker 2: you want to be around for a long, time the
- 1:15:16Speaker 2: authenticity pieces what keeps.
- 1:15:19Speaker 5: You, YEAH i feel like somebody new, artists they don't
- 1:15:21Speaker 5: have longevity in their. MIND i feel like the day they're, thinking,
- 1:15:24Speaker 5: like how can we get high now and make as
- 1:15:26Speaker 5: much as we can right?
- 1:15:27Speaker 2: Now and who cares what? Happens and, YEAH i think
- 1:15:28Speaker 2: they think about how CAN i get? High that, Too,
- 1:15:32Speaker 2: LIKE i, Mean i'm, serious AND i just think, that you,
- 1:15:34Speaker 2: know Because i'm LIKE i asked my, SON i have
- 1:15:36Speaker 2: a fifteen or eighteen year. Old i'm just, like do
- 1:15:37Speaker 2: they really think they really do the drugs like? That
- 1:15:39Speaker 2: or you think they just rap about the, shit BECAUSE
- 1:15:41Speaker 2: i don't even know how you're. Functioning you know What i'm.
- 1:15:43Speaker 2: Saying you're talking about you know when When wayne And
- 1:15:46Speaker 2: ross was having seizes and shit, like it was the,
- 1:15:48Speaker 2: lean it was the fucking you know What i'm. Saying,
- 1:15:50Speaker 2: like so you're, thinking like what how high do you
- 1:15:53Speaker 2: want to be like and how how long do you
- 1:15:55Speaker 2: think you will? Last or what are you trying to escape? From? Well,
- 1:15:57Speaker 2: NO i MEAN i get why people want to, escape
- 1:15:59Speaker 2: but you know What i'm, SAYING i JUST i don't
- 1:16:01Speaker 2: think that you will live long enough to really reap
- 1:16:04Speaker 2: the fruits if you continue to like do that to your.
- 1:16:08Speaker 2: Body you know What i'm, Saying it's like physically. Impossible
- 1:16:10Speaker 2: but where we're at now with music is.
- 1:16:13Speaker 3: Content as far as content social media, presence is that
- 1:16:17Speaker 3: more important than actual talent or what's your personal opinion on,
- 1:16:21Speaker 3: that because to, ME i think it.
- 1:16:22Speaker 2: IS i think the communitation is better than you got a?
- 1:16:24Speaker 2: Point you got a. POINT i, mean you, know If i'm,
- 1:16:27Speaker 2: judging you know What i'm, Saying, no, right BECAUSE i
- 1:16:31Speaker 2: want to see something THAT i you, know will see
- 1:16:33Speaker 2: ten twenty years from. THERE i, mean that's just HOW
- 1:16:35Speaker 2: i came in a. Business BUT i came into a
- 1:16:37Speaker 2: business with artists. DEVELOPMENT i came into a business with
- 1:16:39Speaker 2: actually handlers that gave a, fuck you know What i'm,
- 1:16:41Speaker 2: saying and had the respect of the artists so that
- 1:16:46Speaker 2: they can get what they needed out of them and you,
- 1:16:48Speaker 2: know kind of keep them from there killing themselves and
- 1:16:51Speaker 2: going you know WHAT i. Mean BUT i think that
- 1:16:52Speaker 2: WHAT i was saying earlier about this being to show me,
- 1:16:55Speaker 2: culture to show me. Generation you're, right that shit. Works
- 1:16:57Speaker 2: it's like if you bug out and do all all
- 1:17:00Speaker 2: the dumb, shit they want to like your, ship and
- 1:17:02Speaker 2: you're doing it for their. LIKES i mean we've seen
- 1:17:04Speaker 2: you know What i'm, Saying but they do anything for,
- 1:17:06Speaker 2: likes and that's the culture we live, in you know
- 1:17:09Speaker 2: What i'm. Saying but like, again if people paying their
- 1:17:11Speaker 2: money and they singing your, songs there's some. Connection SO
- 1:17:14Speaker 2: i mean it's really a you, know catch twenty.
- 1:17:16Speaker 4: Two what about any advice for aspiring managers or?
- 1:17:20Speaker 2: Execs you have to you, know pick your, poison, RIGHT
- 1:17:27Speaker 2: i think all artists are subject to lose their motherfucking.
- 1:17:30Speaker 2: MIND i think it's just part of THE dna of
- 1:17:32Speaker 2: artistry and creatives as a. WHOLE i would just, say
- 1:17:36Speaker 2: pick your poison and be wholeheartedly passionate about the artists
- 1:17:41Speaker 2: and what they have to, offer because it just works
- 1:17:43Speaker 2: better when you, really, really truly. Believe if it's a
- 1:17:45Speaker 2: check you know What i'm, saying it runs its. Course
- 1:17:48Speaker 2: if it's because it's your cousin and you really don't
- 1:17:50Speaker 2: want what you're gonna help, OUT i, mean you, know
- 1:17:53Speaker 2: do it for the passion or don't do it at.
- 1:17:55Speaker 2: All and that goes for artists.
- 1:17:56Speaker 5: Too what do you think about the role of Exect
- 1:17:59Speaker 5: it's going forward with so many, artists you, know that
- 1:18:02Speaker 5: message of being independent right when they start taking control
- 1:18:05Speaker 5: of their own. Careers how do you see the role
- 1:18:07Speaker 5: of you, know people who do artists, development you, see.
- 1:18:11Speaker 2: Have a valuable opinion from the, jump you know What i'm.
- 1:18:14Speaker 2: Saying you, know anyone's gonna get over on you if
- 1:18:17Speaker 2: you let, them you know What i'm. Saying but if
- 1:18:18Speaker 2: you have a, value valuable opinion and you add value that,
- 1:18:23Speaker 2: way you kind of put yourself in the middle of some,
- 1:18:26Speaker 2: things you know What i'm. Saying and when when artists
- 1:18:29Speaker 2: try to go run off and act crazy and be
- 1:18:31Speaker 2: disloyal and try different, things because they all gonna want
- 1:18:34Speaker 2: to try different, Things it's gonna be things at the
- 1:18:36Speaker 2: beginning that are just so about what y'all got going.
- 1:18:39Speaker 2: On and then when you get, older this guy over
- 1:18:40Speaker 2: here might have a better. Connect it might be able
- 1:18:42Speaker 2: to get me the close in this. Center you're gonna you,
- 1:18:45Speaker 2: know run into all. That but you just gotta be
- 1:18:48Speaker 2: firmly planted in the middle of what's going on to
- 1:18:51Speaker 2: keep yourself in. Play and, honestly LIKE i, said add
- 1:18:54Speaker 2: value from the, jump like add something valuable that even
- 1:18:57Speaker 2: the artist. Knows because as much as they want to
- 1:18:59Speaker 2: lose their minds act like stuff didn't, happen it. Happened
- 1:19:03Speaker 2: they'll remember. It they. Will it'll come a point they're
- 1:19:06Speaker 2: like what they, get you, Know i'm talking about as.
