- 0:13SPEAKER_00: Hey my friend, welcome to today's episode of the Daily Writer Podcast.
- 0:17SPEAKER_00: One of the most fascinating aspects of being a writer is that lots of people are eager to give you advice.
- 0:23SPEAKER_00: In fact, there is a giant industry of books, conferences, retreats, coaching, and podcasts, of course, this podcast being one of them.
- 0:31SPEAKER_00: There's a giant industry of those things devoted to giving you writing advice.
- 0:35SPEAKER_00: However, be careful who you're listening to.
- 0:38SPEAKER_00: There is a whole group of people who are eager to give advice about writing and book marketing who haven't actually accomplished those things.
- 0:45SPEAKER_00: So before you take anybody's advice about how you should approach your writing or your business or your book marketing, make sure to ask yourself whether those people have done what they're teaching.
- 0:55SPEAKER_00: Look at the results they've gotten for themselves or for others.
- 0:58SPEAKER_00: It's really easy to have opinions about writing, but it's much harder to actually produce something worthwhile or successful.
- 1:05SPEAKER_00: So make sure those are the people that you're listening to.
- 1:09SPEAKER_00: Here's today's question: who are the top three people that you take writing advice from, and have they actually accomplished something worthwhile?
- 1:17SPEAKER_00: Thanks so much for listening to today's episode.
- 1:19SPEAKER_00: If you've been listening to this show for any length of time, you know that one of the four practices of a great writer is creativity.
- 1:26SPEAKER_00: And in order to stay creative, you've got to have great input.
- 1:30SPEAKER_00: And that's where writing prompts come in.
- 1:32SPEAKER_00: A writing prompt is a sentence or two that helps you break through creative blocks, brainstorm new ideas, and get back into a state of flow.
- 1:40SPEAKER_00: Writing prompts are an awesome creative tool for journaling, storytelling, creative writing, stress relief, social media posts, and so much more.
- 1:49SPEAKER_00: But the great news is that you don't have to create these yourself.
- 1:52SPEAKER_00: We've put together an amazing package of 365 daily writing prompts.
