- 0:00Speaker 1: I'm sorry. I'm a little off today.
- 0:03Speaker 2: See, I am too.
- 0:04Speaker 1: Uh, I'm super tired because I didn't sleep last night.
- 0:10Speaker 1: But I have nothing to complain about my daughter, however,
- 0:14Speaker 1: uh wow, it has a lot to complain well, not
- 0:17Speaker 1: a lot to complain about. So to back up, jonesy
- 0:20Speaker 1: four years has had sinus problems so bad that they
- 0:26Speaker 1: caused her to have dizzy spells and when she would fly,
- 0:30Speaker 1: she would get a migraine.
- 0:31Speaker 2: Because really I didn't know that.
- 0:33Speaker 1: Yeah, just she's had problems for years.
- 0:35Speaker 2: You would think you'd want to get that taken care
- 0:38Speaker 2: of earlier.
- 0:39Speaker 1: Well, it is something that they wait till they're a
- 0:42Speaker 1: little older. You know. There's some surgeries that don't make sense.
- 0:46Speaker 2: But we're still growing.
- 0:47Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, but finally, and she's she is such an
- 0:52Speaker 1: organized person. When we diagnosed this with her, finally and
- 0:57Speaker 1: it was several months ago, she said, well, I don't
- 0:59Speaker 1: want to do it while I'm in school. I'll wait
- 1:01Speaker 1: till I get out for the summer and it'll give
- 1:03Speaker 1: me time to recover. So yesterday we finally had the surgery.
- 1:08Speaker 1: Leading up to the surgery, she had the surgery. Oh,
- 1:10Speaker 1: I'm sorry she had this. You didn't have it leading
- 1:14Speaker 1: up to the surgery, she was so prepared for it.
- 1:17Speaker 1: She took me into her room and she said, Mom,
- 1:20Speaker 1: here's a little box I have made with everything I
- 1:24Speaker 1: will need during my recovery. She went out and bought
- 1:27Speaker 1: gauze and sailine spray, like she like. She researched before
- 1:33Speaker 1: the doctor said here's what you're going to need. She
- 1:35Speaker 1: researched what she would need, and she said, it's all
- 1:38Speaker 1: in this box right here.
- 1:40Speaker 2: And I find this frightening.
- 1:43Speaker 1: I didn't do anything to prepare for it. I'm like,
- 1:45Speaker 1: what days your surgery? Where are we going? She scheduled
- 1:49Speaker 1: it all and did it all. So this was yesterday.
- 1:52Speaker 1: Several hours of surgery. They do they go in and
- 1:55Speaker 1: like roto rude or your sinuses.
- 1:57Speaker 3: Yeah, just because see I didn't know anything about the
- 1:59Speaker 3: proced that's just what I imagine.
- 2:01Speaker 2: Yeah, now you're telling me this. They ream them out.
- 2:04Speaker 1: Yeah. And and she also had a deviated septum, so
- 2:08Speaker 1: they kind of they break your nose and then straighten
- 2:12Speaker 1: it out.
- 2:13Speaker 2: Now she got she got that that that that bout
- 2:16Speaker 2: of prize fighting. She did.
- 2:18Speaker 1: And uh, the doctor said, you know, while we're in there,
- 2:23Speaker 1: do you want us to do any plastic surgery. She said,
- 2:27Speaker 1: uh no, I like the way, and I.
- 2:31Speaker 2: Mean it would have been a good opportunity to get
- 2:33Speaker 2: rid of that hideous bump on her nose.
- 2:35Speaker 1: Well, so the doctor said, you have a little bump
- 2:38Speaker 1: right here, nothing that any of us have ever noticed.
- 2:41Speaker 2: I've never noticed it.
- 2:42Speaker 1: No, and so so like for weeks she was like, well, gosh,
- 2:46Speaker 1: I guess should I maybe.
- 2:48Speaker 2: Is that a way? Is that a way? Is that
- 2:49Speaker 2: a way that physicians pad their bills?
- 2:51Speaker 1: I don't know, are or maybe? I don't think that.
- 2:54Speaker 1: I think what the doctor meant was if I have.
- 2:57Speaker 2: A chance to cut on something, I want to do it.
- 2:59Speaker 1: I think what the doctor meant was, this is not
- 3:02Speaker 1: a surgery you're gonna want to do twice. So if
- 3:05Speaker 1: you've ever considered having that done, now's the time to
- 3:08Speaker 1: do it.
- 3:08Speaker 3: See guy in the chat room just found a cutaway
- 3:11Speaker 3: drawing of endoscopic sinus surgery.
- 3:14Speaker 2: I don't, oh man, you know you know when I
- 3:16Speaker 2: had knee replacement surgery, there were any number of videos
- 3:21Speaker 2: that you could watch seeing how the process is done.
- 3:24Speaker 2: I started to watch one and went no, no, no,
- 3:28Speaker 2: And then there was one that was just an animation. Yeah,
- 3:31Speaker 2: I couldn't even watch that. No, I'm not, I can't
- 3:33Speaker 2: watch that.
- 3:35Speaker 1: But my daughter, may, I say, is beautiful and does
- 3:40Speaker 1: and her nose fits her face.
- 3:42Speaker 3: I was gonna say when when when they said let's
- 3:44Speaker 3: do plastic surgery, I'm like, no, she's adorable.
- 3:46Speaker 2: What are you talking about?
- 3:47Speaker 1: And and and the doctor said, I'll give him credit
- 3:51Speaker 1: for this. He said, you know, I had an Italian
- 3:54Speaker 1: woman once came in and wanted her nose fixed, and
- 3:58Speaker 1: afterwards she said, I don't look at howmore and I
- 4:00Speaker 1: don't like that.
- 4:02Speaker 2: And I didn't know your daughter was Italian, so so
- 4:07Speaker 2: didn't didn't do the cosmetic procedure.
- 4:09Speaker 1: But the aftercare for this surgery is so.
- 4:17Speaker 2: Take the gauze out and put more gaus in.
- 4:19Speaker 1: Well, no, like, so for a few days you leave
- 4:21Speaker 1: all the gaws in. But and she has these like
- 4:24Speaker 1: they're almost like little straws of her nose. And every hour,
- 4:31Speaker 1: every hour, you have to spray like saline solution up
- 4:34Speaker 1: there to keep it clear, which means nobody got any sleep,
- 4:38Speaker 1: you know, because every you know, because she needs help
- 4:42Speaker 1: doing it. She can't just do it herself. It's pretty
- 4:46Speaker 1: pretty gruesome.
- 4:47Speaker 2: You thought, ahead, you're going to train the dog to
- 4:49Speaker 2: do it.
- 4:49Speaker 1: Maybe, But she's so sweet. She she woke up out
- 4:54Speaker 1: of out of surgery in the recovery room, and she
- 4:57Speaker 1: was she was making jokes at the first thing she
- 5:00Speaker 1: said is do I look punk rock? Because you got
- 5:02Speaker 1: you know, black eyes, and yes, and.
- 5:06Speaker 2: What's the what's the recovery time?
- 5:09Speaker 1: It's a long recovery because because your ear nose is
- 5:14Speaker 1: broken and your sinuses are all messed up, so it's
- 5:18Speaker 1: like for for weeks. She has to go to the
- 5:21Speaker 1: doctor once a week to check on the progress. And
- 5:26Speaker 1: you can't bump it or or you know, you have
- 5:29Speaker 1: to be careful getting dressed. You can't.
- 5:33Speaker 2: You can't be on the swim team. Can't be I mean, you.
- 5:36Speaker 1: Can't be on the swim team. And I guess for
- 5:39Speaker 1: like a year after it takes a full year for
- 5:41Speaker 1: it to heal.
- 5:42Speaker 2: Comely man.
- 5:44Speaker 1: But I'm glad she had it, had it done.
- 5:47Speaker 2: Just well, it's I told you our our good friend
- 5:49Speaker 2: Jim Facer. I think he had it done. He had
- 5:51Speaker 2: done a few times, a couple of times, and I
- 5:54Speaker 2: don't remember the circumstances of why it didn't take, but
- 5:57Speaker 2: he always had horrible time breathing. Yeah, and he would
- 6:01Speaker 2: actually put drinking straws up his nose. I remember that well.
- 6:04Speaker 1: And this doctor said, now I tell people it takes
- 6:07Speaker 1: a year to heal. And he said, I will have
- 6:09Speaker 1: people inevitably come back and go it's not healing or
- 6:12Speaker 1: it's not working. He said, if you follow what I
- 6:16Speaker 1: tell you to do for the next year, which is
- 6:18Speaker 1: like every day you have to massage it and do
- 6:22Speaker 1: all this stuff. And he said, people like get tired
- 6:25Speaker 1: of doing it, and then so and I said, if
- 6:27Speaker 1: anybody will follow your instructions and do it, it's going
- 6:30Speaker 1: to be what you say it will be.
- 6:32Speaker 2: Now, I was just saying it was the same, you
- 6:34Speaker 2: know that, like a knee replacement surgery. It was so
- 6:36Speaker 2: painful for so long, I said, what why did I
- 6:39Speaker 2: do this? Why? It's just horror and the and the
- 6:42Speaker 2: physical therapy was really painful. And that finally I said,
- 6:45Speaker 2: when is this going to be about a year? You'll
- 6:47Speaker 2: you'll not worry about it.
- 6:49Speaker 3: A guy in the chat room had the same surgery
- 6:52Speaker 3: as Jones. Packed the sinuses with gauze. Doc pulled like
- 6:55Speaker 3: twenty feet out of my nose like a magician. Another
- 7:01Speaker 3: one I had four nasal surgeries, not something you want
- 7:03Speaker 3: to go through more than once or yeah.
- 7:07Speaker 1: But she's she's holding out for this thing. And she
- 7:12Speaker 1: was showing me these TikTok videos of and it's she's like,
- 7:16Speaker 1: she's like, Mommy, gotta watch these videos and they have
- 7:18Speaker 1: the Hosier yell on them. I said, what is the
- 7:20Speaker 1: Hosier yell. It's it's a viral TikTok thing where it's
- 7:25Speaker 1: kind of like ah, like like oh, like the angels
- 7:29Speaker 1: have opened up and are singing, and it's video after
- 7:32Speaker 1: video after video of people going in to like what
- 7:36Speaker 1: her appointment's going to be on Monday, where the doctor
- 7:38Speaker 1: pulls twenty feet out and and the look on these
- 7:43Speaker 1: people's faces after it comes out, like I've never been
- 7:46Speaker 1: able to breathe before and now I can breathe. Hosier
- 7:52Speaker 1: yell is a thing.
- 7:54Speaker 2: Wow.
- 7:56Speaker 1: So we're just hanging in there till Monday.
- 7:58Speaker 2: Get some plastic drinking straws, make them in handy, something
- 8:02Speaker 2: come in handy.
- 8:04Speaker 1: I just don't bless her heart. Oh, And then she
- 8:07Speaker 1: there was one point where I was trying to help
- 8:09Speaker 1: her and I think I bumped her or hurt her
- 8:11Speaker 1: or something she said, Mom, you're being such a bee.
- 8:15Speaker 1: And she said it just like that, and then she said,
- 8:19Speaker 1: I'm so sorry I was swearing at you. I'm like,
- 8:21Speaker 1: number one, it's fine, and number two, that doesn't count
- 8:25Speaker 1: as swearing. You're being such a bee.
- 8:27Speaker 3: Now. Is this going to affect her eating? Because guy says,
- 8:31Speaker 3: nose and throat. They cut my uvula, tonsils, and adnoids
- 8:34Speaker 3: all at once. I couldn't eat real food for a month.
- 8:36Speaker 1: She didn't have that all sinus.
- 8:41Speaker 2: But you need but if you can't, you know, if
- 8:44Speaker 2: you can't breathe properly, you don't taste food.
- 8:46Speaker 1: Yeah, maybe she's going to taste it, maybe things.
- 8:48Speaker 2: Maybe that's going to be the hosier screeve. Is her
- 8:51Speaker 2: voice going to get deeper?
- 8:52Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 8:55Speaker 2: I think it'd be an I forgotten to hearn like
- 8:57Speaker 2: this any board mean, she's really she's really pretty, but
- 9:00Speaker 2: going she opens her mouth and starts talking.
- 9:03Speaker 1: Yeah, somebody says, my wife had this sinus surgery. Recovery
- 9:06Speaker 1: was hell for months, but after healing, it was well
- 9:08Speaker 1: worth it and cured all of her constant infections. That's
- 9:11Speaker 1: what I'm hoping for.
