- 0:00Genesis chapter 36, let us pray, our Father, who is in heaven,
- 0:07holy is your name, your Kingdom come, and your will be done here
- 0:16on this earth, just as it is there in heaven.
- 0:20Give us this day Our Daily Bread, and forgive us, Lord, for
- 0:24all of our many sins, as we forgive those who sin against
- 0:28us. Do not let us be LED into
- 0:31temptation, God, but deliver us from the evil one for yours, the
- 0:37power, the Kingdom, the glory, the honor, forever and ever and
- 0:41ever. Lord, from age to age Your plan
- 0:46prevails. It never runs out, it never runs
- 0:49short, it never runs dry, It runs over God.
- 0:53It fills us to the utmost. So, Lord God, I pray that you
- 0:58will fill us with the Holy Spirit.
- 1:00Give us discernment for this hour, for such a time as this.
- 1:04God, let us walk across fiery coals.
- 1:07God, let the depths of the ocean not overtake us.
- 1:11God, I pray that we'll be there with you in the end.
- 1:14Father, rapture us. God, take us up and out.
- 1:17Father, let us be there with you.
- 1:19We cry out marinotha. We see the return is imminent.
- 1:23We see, Father, that your rewards are with you, God.
- 1:26We just pray, God, that we can stand in your holy presence at
- 1:30the Bema seat. God, I pray that you, Father,
- 1:34will be well pleased with the time that you've given us on
- 1:37this earth. God, help us to know what to do
- 1:40and when to do it and how to do it.
- 1:41Help us not to grow fearful and afraid.
- 1:44Help us not to slip off into traditionalism.
- 1:48God, I pray that you'll break every box, God, that we try to
- 1:53put you in, Lord. And I just pray that your plans
- 1:56will prevail throughout all generations, throughout all of
- 2:00your story, God, that you are writing upon the hearts of your
- 2:03people. And God, I just pray that you'll
- 2:06make us into the ministers of reconciliation.
- 2:09Help us to step into our bridal identity.
- 2:12God, let us know that we're more than conquerors.
- 2:15God, as we put the heel on the head of the snake Father and
- 2:19bruise his head. Father, I pray you'll bind the
- 2:22enemy from off of this time. Bind the enemy from off of our
- 2:25families. God, I pray for you to
- 2:27strengthen the church and strengthen your bride.
- 2:30Strengthen marriages and families.
- 2:32In this hour, God, raise up righteous leaders unto yourself.
- 2:37Help us to consecrate the temple to flip over the tables.
- 2:40God, drive out the money changers.
- 2:43Drive out the people that want to make merchandise out of us.
- 2:46God, I pray that you will make us into resolute leaders.
- 2:52Father, I pray that you'll make us into resolute fathers over
- 2:56the land. God, I pray that we'll speak
- 2:58truth in love. Lord, I pray against all of the
- 3:02deception of the enemy, God. And I just pray, Lord, that you
- 3:06and you and you alone will be propagated in the highest office
- 3:10throughout all generations, throughout every single people
- 3:13group, all nationalities, every tongue, Father, every language.
- 3:17God, it is you, the God Yahweh, the God of the Israelites, God
- 3:22that we worship, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob,
- 3:25forever worthy to be praised. And it's in King Jesus, holy and
- 3:30precious and powerful name that I pray, Amen.
- 3:35Well, let's start in verse one. Now these are the generations of
- 3:40Esau, who is Edom. So we know a little bit about
- 3:44this brother of Jacob, Jacob being the deceiver, the younger.
- 3:49And it was told to his mother that Jacob I love, but Esau I
- 3:56hated. And it was told before they ever
- 3:59did anything good or bad. And you can see that the
- 4:03promises of God will always come to fruition.
- 4:07Never, ever can we thwart the plans of God.
- 4:10He writes them down for us. They're as good as done when he
- 4:14writes them down, and they will prevail.
- 4:17And human agents could never thwart anything that God placed
- 4:22in His Word. And everything, everything that
- 4:26we prophecy about all of our dreams, every single thing that
- 4:31is extra biblical has to come back.
- 4:33And it has to be in line with God's written, revealed word for
- 4:38it to be truthful. Because God's word will never
- 4:42pass away. Heaven and earth shall pass
- 4:44away, but not one of these words, friends.
- 4:47So when God told them that the older would serve the younger,
- 4:51it's exactly what has happened, will happen, and the Edomites
- 4:55are of no more. But the Israelites are still
- 4:58standing firm because God's promises will never ever be put
- 5:02to shame. Verse 2.
- 5:05Esau took his wives of the daughters of Canaanada the
- 5:08daughter of Eli the Hittite, and Abalama the daughter of Anna the
- 5:13daughter of Zibian the Hivite 3 and Bashmat Ishmael's daughter,
- 5:17sister of Nabaja, for an ad abort to Esau.
- 5:21Eliphaz and Bashmat bor Ruel 5 and Ahaba bor Josh and Jalam
- 5:28Kora. These are the sons of Esau which
- 5:31were born unto him in the land of Canaan.
- 5:33So what you need to know here is even though Esau was not the
- 5:38covenant child, he was still a very blessed man, and he was
- 5:43blessed because he was attached to Father Abraham.
- 5:47We saw Ishmael was mentioned in there as well.
- 5:51This was Esau's uncle and also not of the covenant.
- 5:56These were very materialistic, human nature minded men and it
- 6:01is no different in our day and our our friends.
- 6:05For us to truly understand the world around us, we have to have
- 6:09the indwelling of the Holy Spirit so that we can have the
- 6:12mind of Christ in the heart of God to see every single thing
- 6:17around us the way that he does. And if we cannot see past this
- 6:21life, then money becomes our God, power becomes our God, all
- 6:25the materialism becomes our God, and we base our entire lives off
- 6:30of what we can see. And it is faith that pleases
- 6:34God. And we must step into the faith,
- 6:36friends, and we must be able to take the bog whenever the world
- 6:41wants to take the lush, fertile lands.
- 6:45Friends, we must be able to go and to trust God with the little
- 6:49in our hands. We cannot look at the world the
- 6:52way that the carnal man does. It'll never make sense.
- 6:57But unless you have the scales have fallen off your eyes and
- 7:00your ears have been unstopped, you will continue to see the
- 7:03world all around you, and in a carnal way, in a very temporal
- 7:09way, friends. And that is the reality that
- 7:13unless you have the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, none of the
- 7:16things of God will make any sense.
- 7:19And that is the case for O Ishmael, and that is the case
- 7:23for, O saw here the Edomite. 6 And Esau took his wives, and his
- 7:29sons, and his daughters, and all the persons of his house, and
- 7:32his cattle, and his beast, and all his substance, we which he
- 7:36had got in the land of Canaan, and went into the country from
- 7:39the face of his brother Jacob. So here's what you need to know
- 7:43that this Esau was a very cantankerous man to his mother
- 7:47and father, Isaac and Rebecca. And you can see here that it
- 7:54grieved them. The Esau started marrying off in
- 7:57the Canaanite people and assimilating and getting watered
- 8:01down and diluted. And it should not be so with
- 8:05God's people. And that is what God is after
- 8:07here. You're going to see in this
- 8:09chapter and in the chapters after God's plan for protecting
- 8:14the nation Israel and for strengthening them and so that
- 8:18they did not assimilate and get diluted and polluted with the
- 8:22nations all around them that God's judgment was right for.
- 8:26And you're going to need to know that God's will for His people
- 8:31that are called by His name will always come to fruition, and
- 8:35there is nothing that man could ever do to thwart it.
- 8:38It does not matter how much we shake our fists at God and tell
- 8:43God how to behave. It doesn't work that way.
- 8:46Friends. God's promises are yes and Amen
- 8:49throughout all of His story that he is writing and that he has
- 8:53written about, and it will come to pass, and it is best to be
- 8:57found on the right side of history when the smoke clears.
- 9:01France 7. For their riches were more than
- 9:06that. They might dwell together, and
- 9:09the land wherein they were strangers could not bear them
- 9:11because of their cattle. So it's very similar to Abraham
- 9:16and his nephew Lot whenever they had to separate.
- 9:20It's it's another kind of story like that where you had Esau and
- 9:25Jacob and they were trying trying to dwell in the same land
- 9:28together and the cattle was so much so that they had to
- 9:32separate. And we see that Esau is going to
- 9:35go up into the land where Petcher is, this fortified
- 9:39place, where the just, the natural topography of it, it was
- 9:45a protected place, and that is where you find Edom settling. 7
- 9:52For their riches were more than they might dwell together
- 9:55because of their cattle. 8 Thus dwelt Esau in Mount Seir.
- 10:00Esau is Edom, so the book of Genesis wants us to know over
- 10:05and over that Esau is Edom, and he's also known as Seer because
- 10:10of this connection with Mount Seer. 9 And these are the
- 10:14generations of Esau, the father of the Edomites in Mount Seer.
- 10:1910 These are the names of Esau son Eliphaz, the son of Ada, the
- 10:23wife of Esau, Ruel the son of Bashmad the wife of Esau 11 and
- 10:28the sons of Eliphaz with Timon, Omar, Zepho, Gotham, Kina,
- 10:33Kina's. 12 and Tenna was concubine to Eliphaz Esau's son
- 10:38and she bore to Eliphaz Amalek. These were the sons of Adas
- 10:43Esau's wife. So you need to know these this
- 10:47whenever the mention here of Amalek.
- 10:49These are the Amalekites, friends, and you need to know
- 10:53that they are going to become an enemy of the Israelites one day.
- 10:57And it's all from this very turned around story of Esau, who
- 11:07was a hunter and mighty in the land and was not very spiritual
- 11:13in and of himself. All he cared about was
- 11:16materialism and it's no different in our day and our
- 11:20hour. We've got to step out from the
- 11:22materialistic mindset of being able to measure where we stand
- 11:26with God and trying to believe that our prosperity shows that
- 11:31God is with us and for us. And you need to know that with
- 11:34man it is impossible, but with God it is possible.
- 11:38And it's easier for the camel to pass through the eye of a needle
- 11:42than for a rich man to make it into heaven.
- 11:44And you need to know that, friends, it is only faith that
- 11:47pleases God. It's the widow with the two
- 11:50mites as she drops them in that pleases God because it was
- 11:53everything that she had. And for us to just marginalized
- 11:57where we stand with God because we have so much and we're giving
- 12:01so much and we think that God is pleased with us.
- 12:04It does not move God's heart, friends.
- 12:06It is a sold out, laid down lover's life that moves the
- 12:10heart of God. It's operating in the spirit of
- 12:13faith, friends, that moves the heart of God.
- 12:16It is not the traditionalism viewpoint of how we see God, of
- 12:21just going to church Sunday to Sunday, reading our Bibles.
- 12:25It is not just us not listening to secular music that moves the
- 12:30heart of God. We have to be attached to Him 24
- 12:34hours a day, seven days a week. Lockstep with Him, listening to
- 12:38his every breath. Listening to Him in the
- 12:40stillness of life, getting rid of the busyness, friends, and
- 12:44stepping in to the stillness of what God has for us.
- 12:48And listening in tune attentively to God's mighty
- 12:52voice that comes in like a mighty rushing wind into our
- 12:55lives. And that still small voice, be
- 12:58still, and know that he is God, and listen for him today. 13 And
- 13:06these are the sons of rural Naha, Zara, Shama, Miza.
- 13:10These were the sons of Basmah, Esau's wife. 14 These were the
- 13:14sons of Ahabama, the daughter of Anna, the daughter of Zibi and
- 13:19Esau's wife. And she bore to Esau Jews
- 13:22Shinjala. 15 These were Dukes of the sons of Esau, the sons of
- 13:27Eliphaz, the first born son of Esau, Duke Taman, Duke Omar,
- 13:32Duke Zephal, Duke Kinas 16 Duke Kora, Duke Gautam, Duke Amalek.
- 13:39These are the Dukes that came of Eliphaz in the land of Edom.
- 13:43These were the sons of Ada. So here you need to know this is
- 13:47just marking out what it looks like to be royalty in the eyes
- 13:53of man. Has nothing to do with the
- 13:56royalty of God, the spiritual royalty that God has for his
- 14:00bride. 17 These are the sons of Ruah Esau's son, Duke Naha, Duke
- 14:07Zara, Duke Shama, Duke Miza. These are the Dukes that came of
- 14:11Ruah, the land of Edom. These are the sons of Bashmats,
- 14:15Esau's wife. 18 These are the sons of Abamalah Esau's wife,
- 14:20Duke Jewish, Duke Jalam, Duke Korah.
- 14:23These were the Dukes that came of Ahama, the daughter of Anna,
- 14:27Esau's wife. 19 These are the sons of Esau, who is Edom.
- 14:32These are their Dukes. So you need to know over and
- 14:35over and over it says Esau is Edom, and it's there for a
- 14:39reason. God repeats it over and over and
- 14:42over so that when you get into the rest of the Old Testament,
- 14:46especially in the minor prophets, and they're talking
- 14:48about Seer and they're talking about Edom, you're going to be
- 14:52able to make the connection back to Esau, Jacob's twin brother.
- 14:5920 These are the sons of Seer the Horite who inhabited the
- 15:03land, Lotan, Shoba, Zivian, Anna, 21 and Dishan Iser Dishan.
- 15:08These are the Dukes of the Horites, the children of Seer
- 15:11and the land of Edom. 22 And the children of Lotan were Hori He
- 15:16mom and Lotan's sister was Timna. 23 And the children of
- 15:21Shoba were these Alvin Manahat, Ebal Shafu Onam. 24 These are
- 15:28the children of Zibian, both Aja Anna.
- 15:31This was that in Anna that found the mules in the wilderness as
- 15:35he fed the asses of Zibi and his father. 25 And the children of
- 15:40Anna were these Dishan Habama, the daughter of Anna. 26 These
- 15:45are the children of Dishan Hemdan Ishban Ithran Charan. 27
- 15:51The children of these are these Bilhan, Zavan and Akan. 28 And
- 16:00the children of Dishon are these UZ and Iran. 29 These are the
- 16:05Dukes that came of the Horites, Duke Lotan, Duke Shabal, Duke
- 16:10Zibian, Duke Anna. 30 Duke Dishan, Duke Izar, Duke Dishan,
- 16:15these are the Dukes that came of Horai among their Dukes in the
- 16:20land of Seer. 31 And these are the kings that reigned in the
- 16:23land of Edom before there reigned any king over the
- 16:26children of Israel. So imagine that they were
- 16:29royalty and kingship before Israel had their lineage of
- 16:34kings. And you remember, and you'll be
- 16:36taught later that God wanted to be their leader, but they
- 16:41demanded a king, which is where Saul came in.
- 16:43And then we're going to see so much tragedy come about because
- 16:47the Israelites wanted to be like the people around them. 32 In
- 16:55Bella the son of Biel rang de Needham in the name of the city
- 16:58was Danah BA. 33 And Bella died. And Jobab, the son of Zerah and
- 17:04Bozra reigned in his stead. 34 And Jobab died, and Husham the
- 17:09land of Tamani, reigned in his stead. 35 And Husham died.
- 17:14And Haddad, the son of Badad, who struck Midian in the field
- 17:18of Moab, reigned in his stead in the name of his city was Avid.
- 17:2236 And Haddad died. And Samla of Masaraka reigned in
- 17:28his stead. 37 And Samla died in Saul of Rehaba by the river
- 17:33reigned in his stead. 38 And Saul died, and BA al Hanan the
- 17:39son of Akbar reigned in his stead.
- 17:41And BA al Hanan the son of Akbar died and had daughter reigned in
- 17:45his stead. In the name of his city was Pao,
- 17:48and his wife's name was Mehbatul, the daughter of Matra,
- 17:52the daughter of Mahazbaz. 40 And there are the names of the Dukes
- 17:57that came of Esaw according to their families after their
- 18:00places by their names. Duke Tenna, Duke Alva, Duke
- 18:04Jahid 41, Duke Habama, Duke Ella, Duke Pinon 42.
- 18:09Duke Kinas. Duke Timon.
- 18:11Duke Mitsar, and we'll end on 43 Duke.
- 18:16These be the Dukes of Edom, according to their habitations
- 18:20in the land of their possessions.
- 18:22He is Esau, the father of the Edomites.
- 18:28So what you need to understand here, friends, is that these are
- 18:32real people. Real places are real time.
- 18:35This is not just a list of a bunch of syllables all put
- 18:41together to make us intrigued about God in all of his ways.
- 18:45This is real reality. These are actual people who
- 18:49live. And there's some interesting
- 18:51names in here. You go and do some etymology.
- 18:55You'll see that there was the false God by all mentioned in
- 19:00one of their names. You will see that they do not
- 19:03have a spiritual connotation to them.
- 19:06A lot of them have to do with nonsensical attachments, and
- 19:11it's no different in our day and our hour.
- 19:13Because names actually mean something, friends.
- 19:16And if you're going to name your child, name them based on
- 19:21biblical prophetic names. Do not just name them from
- 19:27simple things, because in the reality, God uses those names in
- 19:33their lives and they have the option of actually operating
- 19:38within what their name means or not.
- 19:41It's not that they're forced into it, but there is a lot of
- 19:44significance in names. And you'll see here that the
- 19:48lineage of Esau was nothing more than people who cared nothing
- 19:53for the covenant God of Yahweh. I hope you've been blessed by
- 19:58this amazing chapter in God's Word.
- 20:00I know I sure have. I'm praying for every single one
- 20:02of you. Stay rooted and grounded in
- 20:05God's Word. We'll see you back here
- 20:08tomorrow. God bless you.
